The traditional classroom is teacher-centered. The teacher controls all aspects of the lesson, including checking homework, dictation tests, assigning readings from the text, exercises, grammar lessons, speaking activities, and homework assignments. Students have no initiative and simply carry out the teacher's instructions. This limits students' decision-making abilities and could lead to chaos if the teacher loses control, as students would not know their roles. Additionally, there is almost no cooperation between students, isolating them and creating a competitive learning environment.

1) Classroom interaction includes the patterns of interaction between teachers and students as well as among students. It is important for language learning as it provides opportunities for practice and feedback.
2) Teachers have an "action zone" in the classroom where they tend to focus their attention, such as interacting more with students on one side of the class. Students must also develop "interactional competence" including understanding classroom expectations and when it is appropriate to speak, ask questions, and get help.
3) Different grouping arrangements are used including whole-class instruction, individual work, partner work, and group work. These each have advantages and disadvantages for student participation and language practice.

Here are some suggestions for activation techniques that would be appropriate for the given teacher objectives:
For objectives a) comprehension check, d) grammar check, and g) new vocabulary, teacher-led questioning techniques like IRF would be suitable to assess understanding.
For objectives b) familiarization with text and e) writing, individual or pair work giving students time to read/write independently with teacher monitoring would allow practice and reduce mistakes.
For objectives c) oral fluency and f) grammar practice, group or pair work with communication tasks that require using the target language skill would promote active use and reinforcement of those skills.

Students were asked about their favorite and least favorite teachers through interviews and written assignments. Bad teachers were described as very strict, rigid, distant, sarcastic, shouted at mistakes, started lessons immediately without warm up, and did not smile. English lesson Traditional classroom • Checking Homework: The teacher calls for any homework having been given in previous classes that the pupils had to carry out. ▪ Dictation Test: One very common and well acknowledged exercise in Greek foreign language classes are brief (two or three sentences long) dictation tests relating to the lesson of the previous class, especially if that was a text to work on.
- 3. • Teacher appointing students to read new text: Usually a unit begins with a text on a popular topic, or in a specialty topic in Vocational Education. • Teacher giving out exercises to carry out in class: They might be exercises as questions on the text, personal opinion questions, vocabulary or listening exercises.
- 4. • Grammar: Seldom in the course of the same class, and usually in the following class, right after the text in almost every unit there is a grammatical phenomenon, which has been addressed several times in the course of the text, that calls for explanation. • Speaking/Writing: There might be the possibility of several speaking exercises, based on the topic of the text, enrolling single pupils, pairs or groups of pupils. • Homework: The final step is giving out homework usually in the form of exercises to be done by each student at home
- 5. Traditional classroom • It is obviously teacher-centered. The teacher is the ruler of the class, no decision can be made without them authorizing it, they are in charge of the entire process, both the steps to be taken, the way to be carried-out and the time needed for each.
- 6. • There is no initiative from the part of the students. Their job is to carry specific instructions out, the best they can.
- 7. • Apart from limiting their decision making abilities, which need to be encouraged and reinforced at that age, this has the additional danger that if for any reason the control is lost by the teacher, there can me a chaos and commotion created in the classroom that might be difficult to fix, as no one will know what their role is and how to take charge.
- 8. • Almost no co-operation. While we all know how important interaction is in adolescence, teacher-centered classes tend to isolate students, and create a sense of stressful and competitive environment for them to learn in.
