The Role Of Self Conflict In Elizabeth Bowen s The Demon...
From the numerous amount of short stories Elizabeth Bowen has written, none of them were
anthologized as often as The Demon Lover. The Demon Lover was written by Elizabeth Bowen and
was published in 1945 and retold several times afterwards through various authors who had different
interpretations of the text. Elizabeth Bowen portrays the Man vs. Self conflict through diction,
sentence structure and limited dialogue. Reconciling from past memories is difficult regardless of how
many years have gone by. Kathleen Drover is never reconciled with her lost past. She cannot
overcome her regrets, assimilate an unlived life, and become whole . Elizabeth Bowen s The Demon
Lover has been praised by Douglass A. Hughes as a masterful dramatization of acute psychological
delusion, of the culmination of paranoia in a time of war (411). As ... Show more content on

Canada s North and Aboriginal Popluation
Canada s North is often seen as the country s national identity. In actuality, it stems far beyond the
isolated land of picturesque vistas used to often describe Canada s rugged landscape. The lived
Canadian environment reflects a regional perspective that does not encompass the true reality of the
country as a whole. The North links the diversity of Indigenous peoples to the land they have occupied
for centuries, a place where they have built their own distinct culture, language and identity. Those
ideals have been increasingly challenged in the twenty first century, in spite of the imagined sense of
Canadianness in the North but because of the transitioning economy and environment in the North.
This paper will explore the challenges facing Canada s northern resource economy and the socio
cultural implications on the regions Aboriginal population.
Historically, the national psyche of the Territorial North uses the region to define the country to
citizens and the world, with 80% of Canadians linking their national identity to the North (Cric Papers
4). Canadians have come to see the North as an idea, not [a] location; a myth, a promise, a destiny
(Francis 152). The North serves as a land of imagination and a physical challenge for adventurers,
epitomizing the North as a romanticized region (Francis 154) which links the landscape and
environment to an imagined sense of Canadian culture and identity. Beyond the depths of the
imagined North lie three very distinct

KOHLBERG S SIX STAGES
Level 1. Preconventional Morality
Stage 1. Obedience and Punishment Orientation. Kohlberg s stage 1 is similar to Piaget s first stage of
moral thought. The child assumes that powerful authorities hand down a fixed set of rules which he or
she must unquestioningly obey. To the Heinz dilemma, the child typically says that Heinz was wrong
to steal the drug because It s against the law, or It s bad to steal, as if this were all there were to it.
When asked to elaborate, the child usually responds in terms of the consequences involved, explaining
that stealing is bad because you ll get punished (Kohlberg, 1958b).
Although the vast majority of children at stage 1 oppose Heinz s theft, it is still possible for a child ...

36 42; Kohlberg, 1958b).
If Heinz s motives were good, the druggist s were bad. The druggist, stage 3 subjects emphasize, was
selfish, greedy, and only interested in himself, not another life. Sometimes the respondents become so
angry with the druggist that they say that he ought to be put in jail (Gibbs et al., 1983, pp. 26 29, 40
42). A typical stage 3 response is that of Don, age 13:
It was really the druggist s fault, he was unfair, trying to overcharge and letting someone die. Heinz
loved his wife and wanted to save her. I think anyone would. I don t think they would put him in jail.
The judge would look at all sides, and see that the druggist was charging too much. (Kohlberg, 1963,
p. 25)
We see that Don defines the issue in terms of the actors character traits and motives. He talks about the
loving husband, the unfair druggist, and the understanding judge. His answer deserves the label
conventional morality because it assumes that the attitude expressed would be shared by the entire
community anyone would be right to do what Heinz did (Kohlberg, 1963, p. 25).
As mentioned earlier, there are similarities between Kohlberg s first three stages and Piaget s two
stages. In both sequences there is a shift from unquestioning obedience to a relativistic outlook and to
a concern for good motives. For Kohlberg, however, these shifts occur in three stages rather than two.
Stage 4. Maintaining the Social Order.

The Technology Upgrade Chapter 4 Summary
Chapter Four The Technology Upgrade Chapter four talks about upgrading technology. The books talk
about educators adding technology into the classroom. Technology is being used to transform
classrooms. Even though the use of technology is suggested or required from teachers some fail to
reiterate it into their curriculum (Johnson,2012, pg.83). This is due to confusion or some being scared
to try something new. Instead some stick to the familiar such as using technology for communicating
with parents, recording grades and attendance. The lack of usage in technology sometimes has to do
with lack of resources (Johnson,2012, pg.83). One way to learn how to use technology more is to add
a technology upgrade to your usual activities. Activities such as lectures, student writing, student
research, class discussions, math problems, plays and skits, and student speeches. These are just a few
examples, use basic technology, spreadsheets, and software in which your students are already
comfortable with to replace or enhance your traditional activities. Some benefits of upgrading
technology are being able to teach in different learning styles for students (Johnson, ... Show more

Student projects that involve technology elements cannot be evaluated by paper and pencil tests, so
the teacher s ability to create an assessment tool that clearly explains the desired level of technology
skill is important. Developing a rubric or checklist of what is expected from students can improve the
teacher s instruction. Technology can add to your assessment; make sure you describe what you want
in concrete terms, use examples of previous quality work, and make sure the tools are given to
students at the time when the assignment is given. In addition, use the assessment tool to help guide
revisions, use different assessors, and revise your tools each time their used; too many indicators

Marriage In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, a group of traveling pilgrims on their way from London
to Canterbury pass the time by telling each other stories and tales. A handful of the tales are on the
topic of marriage, most notably The Miller s Tale, The Wife of Bath s Tale and The Merchant s Tale.
The Miller talks about his wife and marriage poorly in his prologue and his tale is just as cynical. The
Wife of Bath reveals in her prologue that she has had five husbands, something that was frowned upon
then just as it still is in today s society. In her tale, the story sees the main character change his view
on his own marriage from a negative thing to something he cherishes. Finally, The Merchant s
prologue reveals that he, too, has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, The Miller says that there was quite an age difference between John and Alisoun, his wife,
and that John heeld hire narwe in cage , meaning that he held her in confinement (Chaucer 267).
Husbands having this type of control over their wives was not unique to this time period seeing as it
was the norm for many years to come. One part of the story describes what Alisoun is wearing and
how she looks. This section goes on for lines and lines and implies that women are only good for their
appearance. He also says that Alisoun is gent and smal , which can be translated to slender and
delicate while also revealing that she is merely eighteen years old (Chaucer 267). As the story goes on,
Nicholas is introduced. He professes his love for her and begs her to return the emotion. She declines
and he reacts negatively, to which Alisoun immediately changes her mind and returns his love. She
says that they can be together if they wait patiently and are secretive (Chaucer 268). Planning to cheat
on one s husband is not something that would be viewed positively in that time and this shows that
Alisoun, in a way, did not conform to the way that women were expected to act in marriages at the
time. Even though cheating has never been held to a high standard during any time period, having a
female character want to act unfaithfully to her husband can be seen as a good thing in terms of female
empowerment in The Miller s Tale.
Before Chaucer begins The Wife of

Conflict Reflection
The module two journal entry was very eye opening and a great learning experience for me! I was
able to see the different behaviors I exhibited in the workplace strictly due to my perception. It was
also cool to see how perceptions are always changing over time as well as decisions people make
based on their experiences, views, and personal beliefs. For this weeks journal, I want to first start off
by defining conflict. We restrict ourselves to consider conflict arising from difference, and the Oxford
English Dictionary defines this form of conflict as: ... a serious incompatibility between two or more
opinions, principles, or interests ... (Arvinen Muondo Perkins, 2013). Conflict can occur anytime and
at any level within an organization. It can occur at five different levels: personal, interpersonal, inter
group, inter organizational and international (Arvinen Muondo et al., 2013). The hardest part is how to
handle conflict, in my opinion. As individuals, we all disagree, and even in groups, and sometimes it
can be vicious and destructive, but these differences do not always have to end up in a conflict. In fact,
having an argument is not always bad. It can be beneficial. Every human has control over their own
actions and the behaviors they exhibited, which is why it is a struggle for managers to get people to
put in their skills, effort, and knowledge willingly while they are actually being directed in order to
fulfill goals and help an organization. If workers see

Community Development Reflection
I have enjoyed taking this class this semester. Even though I hit a few hiccups along the way I pushed
through. I think it will help in my future endeavor in community development. Many people can
benefit by taking this class and learning more about the health issues within a community. The
information can also be carried on and utilized within many other professions. I have shared many of
my learning experiences from this class with family and friends and have passed on a lot of
knowledge. I honestly feel taking this class in a classroom would have been more educational to me.
The use of visuals and hands on is a way I like to learn and as a result I would have retained and
understood more in this area. Having an experience professional in the career already attending the
class and sharing would have helped me too. Even though I did take this class online and a lot of
topics were covered in a short amount of time a lot of good information was taken in. It does help that
I have experienced on some level of the topics that were presented. There s always room for more
growth while learning more on the topic of health in community development. Things are always
changing, growing, and expanding, including the development of new Technology. I have just started
the beginning of what all it entails. I think it would be helpful to have learned more on the solution to
some of the problems presented. A lot of the topics were interesting to read about, but on some I felt

Renewable Energy Sources 1800s
Renewable energy sources started increase at early 1800 to late 1800s, being mainly wood. Water
mills played also important part at this growth. As energy source it reached peak around 1875, and
started decreasing when coal took his place as United states main energy source. Usage of renewable
energy sources decreased slowly till 1975 when new technology was developed. This new wave of
inventions brought for us solar, wind, geothermal and other new renewable energy sources. Usage
raised little and levelled off after 1975, still being least used source of energy with hydroelectric
power.
Coal usage started growth in early 1800s when first coal mines started operating. Coal produce more

The Importance Of Water In Michigan
Living around the Great Lakes like we do in Michigan brings a lot of advantages. We have a great
amount of water, unlike much of the United States. Water has shaped Michigan to its shape over the
past thousands of years. The total area of Michigan is 96,716 miles squared. The total surface of the
Great Lakes is 94,250 miles squared. Michigan is surrounded by 4 of the 5 Great Lakes like shown in
figure 1. The Great Lakes include Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and Lake Erie. Water
has shaped Michigan to the shape it is by many different ways. Erosion, transportation, deposition,
glaciers, and manmade causes.

It takes all of them to change the land to where it was thousands of years ago. It is still changing today,
and will continue to change for as long as we can imagine. The causes range from human causes to
natural causes. The beautiful state of Michigan is a prime example of how water has shaped us to what
we are now. We take for granted the beautiful Great Lakes we have. We need to conserve what we
have. We are lucky enough to have such a beautiful lake such as Lake Superior that we need to count
our blessings and remember that it could be taken away within

Evaluating Bob s Process For Establishing The Nss...
1. Evaluate Bob s process for establishing the NSS advisory board. What could be improved? Bob s
rationale behind establishing an advisory board, and his approach for selecting its members, has thus
far been successful and valuable for him and the company. He correctly recognized the importance of
the big picture, as he chose people whose backgrounds covered a wide range of industries and skills
and who could therefore fill in any gaps. Furthermore, Bob s choices were all successful business
professionals, so he could therefore be relatively sure that they would be effective in handling any
future challenges and recognizing future opportunities. Bob was also cognizant that the business and
the family needed unbiased consultants in order to offer advice regarding family employment, and
establishing the advisory board presented an outlet in which family members could privately discuss
any issues on their mind. Lastly, he established an objective for the board, in that the board would only
focus on the big picture, which meant that they didn t get caught in the daily details or argue over the
day to day routine. However, he was fortunate in several ways in how well the board worked out. For
example, he didn t clear the names with his brother Rex until after he had already offered them a board
position and they d accepted; this could have caused conflict with Rex if he had felt slighted or left out
of the decision making process or if he had had any complaints about any

Fourth To Sixth Crusade Summary
The Fourth to Sixth Crusade
The Fourth Crusade began in 1198, due to conflict for controls for power between Europe and
Byzantium. This changed the Crusader s mission of reclaiming Jerusalem from Egypt s command, to
overthrow Alexius IV, whose attempts to submit the Byzantine Church to Rome was met with hostility
in 1204. While he was placed in palace coup, war was waged on Constantinople, with the Fourth
Crusade ending with the subjugation and ransacking of the Byzantine capital later that year.
Following the capture of Constantinople, valuable art work, statues and other treasures were pilfered
or wrecked. The Byzantine Empire never really recovered from the ransack caused by the war. The
Fourth Crusade deeply angered Pope Innocent III, as the Crusaders had attacked their own fellow
Christians. The Crusaders were by now unpopular and had yet to achieve their initial goal of regaining
control of Jerusalem.
Before his death in 1216, Pope Innocent III commissioned the Fifth Crusade to accomplish the
mission of the Fourth, to free Jerusalem from Egyptian command. The Crusaders travelled to Acre in
1217 and joined the ruler of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, King John was aware that attacking Jerusalem
while Egypt was at full strength was not possible, so they collectively planned to take Egypt under
Latin control, thus forcing the Muslims ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Odyssey Essay
The Odyssey is a Greek word meaning the tale of Odysseus. ; Odysseus, the King of Ithaca; husband
of Penelope; father of Telemachus; and son of Laertes was not able to return home after the war he
was once in: the Trojan War. Stuck on an island, he is presumed dead. In his absence, suitors for his
wife ruin his house with lavish feasts. This epic poem, by Homer, describes how Odysseus, with the
help of the gods, gets home and regains his kingship. Justice is always harsh in the Odyssey; there is
either no justice or a lot of it; the punishment however, is always severe. Justice in the Odyssey plays
out among these characters: Odysseus and his crew, the suitors, Poseidon, Aeolus, Hyperion,
Agamemnon, Aegisthus, Melanthius, Melantho, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Odysseus departed from Calypso s island, Poseidon noticed and wrecked havoc using his
powers of the sea: [Odysseus] heard the thunder of surf on a rocky coast. With an angry roar the great
seas were battering at the rocky land and all was veiled in spray. There were no coves, no harbours,
that would hold a ship; nothing but headlands jutting out, sheer rock and jagged reefs ; (pg. 81 82).
Also after the Phaeacians had helped Odysseus, Poseidon punished them for their kindness to his
enemy. Hyperion, the sun god, loved his cattle and told Odysseus and his crew not to eat them. When
the crew was starving, they slaughtered and ate Hyperion s cows. Hyperion demanded justice from the
gods: Father Zeus and you other blessed gods who live for ever, take vengeance on the followers of
Odysseus. . . They have criminally killed my cattle, the cattle that gave me such joy every day as I
climbed the starry sky and as I dropped down from heaven and sank once more to earth ; (pg. 190).
Zeus answered Hyperion and killed all of Odysseus crew. Aeolus had given Odysseus a large leather
bag, which contained the strong winds that could set them off course. Odysseus crew got curious and
opened the bag. All the strong winds hurried them off course, and they eventually landed back to
Aeolus island. They went to Aeolus and asked for help. However Aeolus was very mad for the crew s
carelessness and demanded that Odysseus and his crew leave the island: Get off this

Tax Advantages and Disadvantages of Sarbanes Oxley The 1990s and the early 2000s was a time that

Pepsico Case Study
Introduction The Uniform Commercial Code defines a contract as the total legal obligation which
results from the parties agreement as affected by the Uniform Commercial code or any other
applicable rules of law (Liuzzo, 2016, p.106). The purpose a contract is to create an oral or written
agreement between two parties. In the mid 1990 s PepsiCo. ran a promotional campaign Pepsi Stuff,
(nonfps, 2007). The campaign attempts to engage and reward the consumer who bought PepsiCo
products. Consumers would earn Pepsi points for any Pepsi products they bought. When a person
earns a certain quantities of points he or she receives certain prizes. One commercial advertises a

This includes such information as when, where, and why the offer would take place. However,
according to the UCC if one or more terms, are not in the contract the offer may not be invalid as long
as the offer is definite and certain (Liuzzo, 2016). Second an offer must be communicated to the
offeree. This is so the offeree is adequately informed prior to making their decision. The offeror
communicates the offer orally or written to the offeree (Liuzzo, 2016). Lastly, an offer has to be made
with a genuine intention that the offeror will be bound by it (Liuzzo, 2016). The offer cannot be made
in anger or jest or under severe emotional strain (Liuzzo, 2016). For example, if a boss jokes that he
would sell his house to the next person who bought him a coffee, and then his assistant bought him a
coffee, it is very unlikely that she would be able to sue in for his house in court. Thus, if the offer is
not made with any actual intent is not a valid offer (Liuzzo, 2016). Did PepsiCo make an offer?
In order to determine if Pepsi, as the supposed offeror made to be an offer all three components of an
offer must be analyzed. The first requirement an offer has to fulfill is that it is made on definite and
certain terms. The offer did specify the quantity requirement of points to receive a Harrier Jet in their
commercial (nonfps, 2007). In addition PepsiCo also offers the other products in the commercial that
the company did intend to exchange for Pepsi

Comparison of Vulnerability Scanners
Introduction
With the advancements in information technology, the security concern of the users in the network is
increasing drastically. Various approaches have been adopted to protect respective network from un
authorized users. New innovative methods have been presented in order to identify potential
discrepancies that can damage the network. Most commonly used approach for this purpose is
vulnerability assessment. Vulnerability can be defined as the potential flaws in the network that make
it prone to possible attack by un authorized user. Assessment of these vulnerabilities provides a way to

devised for this purpose and how to reduce the risk of them in a proactive manner [2]. Various
methods have been introduced for the identification of these vulnerabilities. Some of the methods
include attack graph generation, static analysis and vulnerability scanners. This work presents a

Active Listening Can Be Described In Brief As Listening
Active listening can be described in brief as listening to a person carefully and with an open mind,
which endeavors to fetch a grasp of the other on a greatly profound level. Guidelines for active
listening is to give people your attention, be ready to paraphrase, use questions if you don t
understand, acknowledge the others person feelings, encourage if the other person appears uncertain,
do not react or respond in other ways until it is clear that the other person has finished. (The role of

Clarification includes questions that seek to clear uncertainties and fetch more understanding of the
other person s intentions and fears. Misunderstood or inadequate information is the main barrier to
understanding; that s why clarification is important. After that, you should recognize the other person s
feelings. This is called digging. It concentrates on the feelings of a person without making them the
clear focus of the argument. Observing emotional reactions adds a further aspect to the understanding
of a person s situation. It is mainly helpful when there seems to be an inconsistency between the

approach toward a subject. Subsequently, you should see if the other person seems to be doubtful or
uncertain. You should acknowledge the feelings that a person is experiencing as it is an influential
evidence of our awareness and serious attempt to understand his situation. (The role of Active
listening in conflict resolution, 2012). [3] Once more, it s essential that, once these workers are
required to resolve their arguments, you should attempt to understand their feelings and make them

Disney Hidden Secrets
General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: By the end of my speech, the audience will be able to identify three hidden secrets
they probably did not know about Disneyland and also some history on the amusement park.
Central Idea: The happiest place on earth has a few interesting facts that most people don t know
about.
Organizational Method: Informative
Introduction:
Disneyland, opening in 1955, has become one of the happiest places on earth. With having close
family in California, and growing up there practically, I have been able to experience Disneyland well
over at least 15 times. I got to thinking about all the great stuff ... Show more content on

11. Hidden Mickeys of Disney are one of the best scavenger hunts at Disneyland or Disneyworld. A. A
hidden mickey is an image of Mickey Mouse concealed in the design of a Disney attraction (rides,
decoration, resort, etc.) In designing, constructing or adding the final touches to an attraction,
Imagineers subtly hide: Mickey Mouse silhouettes. Disney fans have to find these hidden mickeys and
it s a fun scavenger hunt for all. B. Hidden Mickeys can be hard to find and you don t want to mix
them up with Mickeys that aren t actually hidden mickeys. 1. First, any Mickey that seems large and
very intricate, such as a formation of a cave, is probably not an honest to god hidden mickey. 2.
Second, a Mickey should be proportioned correctly. If the ears are too small or too close together, like
the padlocks in all the parks, or if each circle is a different size and not in perspective, it is most likely
not a hidden mickey. 3. Lastly, a true hidden mickey should not have to rely too much on imagination,
such as the Matterhorn Mickey. If you must squint your eyes, tilt your head, and have a certain amount
of lighting at a certain angle, it s probably not a Mickey. A mickey might be upside down or sideways,
but when pointed out, should be relatively clear.

Research Study For An Efficient Study Design
A research study should not only start with an efficient study design to address the hypothesis of the
study but also the determination of the appropriate number of participants in the study. The sample
size is dependent on the study design, on statistical analysis used to answer the study questions, and on
the anticipated association between the outcome and the risk factor. The size a sample should not be
too large because it wastes money and time both to the investigators and participants involved in the
study. The small size sample may lead to inaccurate results and causes to waste time and resources. In
addition to the other reasons, participates in a large sample size may be exposed to unnecessary risk.
Therefore, the researchers should take careful attention while determining the appropriate sample size
for their studies to avoid the question of ethical practices.
The role of researchers is define the main objective of the study or the research question and the study
design before selecting a representative sample size. Then they consider the proportion of participants,
and the value of the numbers to put in the formula before determining the sample size. Kamangar
Islami (2013) states that the non statistical consideration in determining the sample size are the
availability of the fund, ethical issues, number of participants available, the novelty of the study, and
any similar studies being conducted etc. The investigators give the rationale why their study is

Piano State Competition Essay
Six months and countless hours of practice and it is about to be finally over. It s time for the Annual
Piano State Competition.
I was so nervous for this morning s competition. Today is the day that I will compete with other 7th
and 8th graders in the KMTA Piano Kansas State Competition. Melody, make sure you go over the
spots that you need to work on , Mom said, throwing off my concentration. Okay, I ll get to it in 10
minutes. as I look back at the mantle where my other trophies are displayed along with the TV. I wasn
t so sure about getting first place or even second this year. Last year was an easy group to compete
against. However, I still felt confident that I could pull off an Honorable Mention medal. Too bad we
have to drive all the way to KU in Lawrence for the competition. The Royals at least won the World
Series with home field advantage. I have to compete in Lawrence under a hostile environment. (My
dad went to MU.)The songs that I had practiced over from June to October were mere child s play

the trophy presentation area to see what place I had received and I thought for sure I wasn t going to
be first because of that kid s dad. I can t even follow this guy s thought process. We heard that he was

Authentically Portrayed Women in Literature Essay
Leo Tolstoy s Anna Karenina; Margaret Mitchell s Gone with the Wind; Tennessee Williams A
Streetcar Named Desire. Upon first glance, these classics of literary legend appear to have nothing in
common. However, looking closer, one concept unites these three works of art. At the center of each
story stands a woman an authentically portrayed woman. A woman with strengths, flaws, desires,
memories, hopes, and dreams. Tolstoy s Anna Karenina, Mitchell s Scarlett O Hara, and Williams
Blanche DuBois are beautiful, intelligent, sophisticated women: strong yet fragile, brazen yet subtle,
carnal yet pure. Surviving literature that depicts women in such a realistic and moving fashion is still
very rare today, and each piece of that unique genre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, the two sisters believed that the beautiful pure freedom of a woman was infinitely more
wonderful than any sexual love (Lawrence, Lady 1994 7). The author maintains this stance on women
s independence, but he tweaks it slightly over the course of the story. Connie marries Clifford
Chatterley, an aristocrat and owner of the estate Wragby Hall, who is paralyzed from the waist down
because of a war injury, rendering him impotent. Clifford devotes himself to his work writing and
Connie remains ignored. A Sleeping Beauty, she has not awakened to life (Squires in Lawrence, Lady
1994 xxi). This lack of connection with her husband fans the flame of Connie s sexual inquisitiveness,
first ignited in an erotic encounter, when she spies on Mellors bathing naked. In Sons and Lovers,
Mrs. Gertrude Morel s personality is a near polar opposite to Connie s. Whereas Connie is earthy,
sensual, and physical, Mrs. Morel is proud, unyielding, and intellectual (Murfin 34). She is associated
with control, consciousness, coolness, and colors suggesting purity (Murfin 38). In a letter to a friend,
Lawrence himself wrote the simplest explanation of Mrs. Morel s role in the novel: The son loves the
mother all the sons hate and are jealous of the father. The battle goes on between the mother and the
girl, with the son as object. The mother gradually proves

Furthermore, the patient presents with abdominal pain, low weight, and occult blood in stool that can
be found with CD and UC. Our patient does not have a family history of IBD even though 25% of
children with IBD do, but that does not rule out the diagnosis. Furthermore, our patient does not have
many of the extra GI features of IBD, which include arthralgias and rashes, making this diagnosis less
likely. Finally, an endoscopy was done and no cobblestoning features or pseudopolyps were seen.

most well known Salmonella infection is Salmonella typhi, which is transmitted through contaminated

headache and cough develop. In the second stage, high fever, bradycardia, rose spots, crackles in the
lung, hepatosplenomegaly, distended abdomen and loose stools are observed. In the third stage,
intestinal hemorrhage, encephalitis, cyclic fevers are prevalent. In the last stage, the fever starts to

Children With ADHD In Elementary Schools
As a teacher of elementary school you work with all different types of children. Some children are
very advanced and excel in their work and others take longer to catch on and comprehend the
curriculum being taught. Children with ADHD sometimes get labeled as not being very intelligent but
in most children with ADHD that is not the case in fact these types of kids tend to be very bright.
Their problem does not lie with lack of intelligence but with being able to sit still and focus long
enough to be taught something. Now as a teacher of elementary school you are working with young
children that already have very short attention spans so just because a child has a hard time sitting still
for an hour doesn t automatically make them have ADHD. But difficulty sitting still and paying
attention during class would definitely be something to look for. When trying to figure out if a child in
your class has ADHD verses than a lack of discipline there are some signs you can look for. First
would be that the child never seems to be able to finish anything; such as leaving test questions
unanswered even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A proper way to go about telling parents that they have an ADHD child is to first schedule a meeting.
Set them down and tell them that you have some concerns that their child is not able to learn at their
full potential because of their lack of focus and discipline in the classroom which is causing poor
grades. Ask them if their child at home shows the same warning signs such as excessive talking,
having to have what they want now, unable to follow directions, and never finishing what they start. If
so talk about ways to improve their behavior such as giving the child extra time on assignments and
tests, during tests and homework time move them to a quiet place possibly a different room, and in
extreme cases talk about ADHD

Similarities Between Odysseus And Harriet Tubman
Heroic Comparison: Who s The Real Hero
Odysseus is considered a hero in his own one sided story whilst Harriet Tubman is considered a hero
by all. Although Harriet Tubman did not experience the traditional type of the twelve stages of a hero s
journey, that does not make her any less of a hero than Odysseus seems to be. In fact whilst following
the guide of the twelve stages to a hero s journey, Harriet Tubman can be viewed as a better hero
parse, than Odysseus. Although in most cases to be viewed as a hero you must be a superhero, killer,
god, or something of the sorts, Harriet can be viewed as a hero despite being an ordinary African
American woman in the racist 1800 s. However this does not mean that her story follows the 12 stages

Although Harriet and Odysseus went through multiple ordeals , by taking the inciting ordeals and
comparing it is found that they display the ordeal very differently but still very well. Harriet s
(arguably) biggest ordeal came by 1856 when she was captured for a 40,000$ reward. This is a perfect
example for an ordeal because it shows the hero getting trapped in a situation and she needs to find a
way out. Harriet gets her way out of this sticky situation by reading a book since her wanted poster
stated that she was illiterate. Odysseus story is similar in the sense that he gets trapped, however in
Odysseus story he wasn t alone in his situation, he had his crew with him to assist in the escape from
his ordeal. This ordeal happened to be, getting stuck in a giant Cyclops lair/home. Odysseus does
make it out alive by tricking the Cyclops into drinking wine which later makes him very drowsy,
therefore the cyclops takes a nap. In his slumber the crew and Odysseus puncture the cyclops one eye

Disillusionment Essay
Disillusionment It is well known that the world is distinguished by awesome people. Many of them
are contributed in a different way, simple citizens sacrifice their life to save others, and especially
when help is needed. It is common in a certain culture that people sacrifice their time, and even their

Rape In The Trojan War
In the period between April and July 1994, approximately 800,000 Rwandans were killed, and
350,000 Rwandan women were raped. In total, this number equalled about one fifth of the country s
population. An informal, political organization called akazu was at the heart of this genocide.
Members of the Hutu population, the National police, and the Rwandan army were some of the
perpetrators (Bijleveld, Morssinkhof, Smeulers, 2009). Just one year later in July 1995, during the
period of the Bosnian war, about 10,000 male Muslim Bosniaks were murdered in the town of
Srebrenica. Again, the national government was behind the killings, particularly members of the
Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska (Ash, 2013). Responding to these atrocities,

This will be a negative impact on the business and would cause a bad reputation among the customers

Another disaster Bag of Toys could suffer from is the corruption of the system. In this way the
organization will lead to lose the information about the customer and all related data. The recovery
plan can avoid such situation. The recovery plan may contain all the backup of the system into another
system which is safer and could be used when the system is crushed or down or corrupt. In this way
they would be able to back up their customer data and to recover their system.
However, if the Bag of Toys did not have such recover plan then they will have to recollect the
customer data which is time consuming and it will affect the business overall. They will lose the

The Issue Of Limited Liability
In light of the decision in Prest, this essay will argue that this principle has been taken too far, and it
has become too easy for parent companies to escape the obligations of its subsidiaries. It will begin
with a discussion of limited liability and examine the when the veil may be pierced after Prest. Next, it
will discuss the current arguments calling for reform.
The concept of limited liability was conceptualized to promote enterprise through limitation of risk. In
many ways, the argument remains applicable today. As a detailed exposition is beyond the scope of
this essay, this essay will examine the two major lines of debate. Firstly, the argument that limited
liability encourages enterprise is normally linked with passive investors who have no other interest in
the company other than that their money is invested within. However, on the opposite spectrum, the
power to purchase shares was also given to companies having a separate legal personality. In
corporate group scenarios, this essay will support the arguments of Blumberg and Wright that the
parent company is not a passive investor , but rather an active force behind the subsidiary. Thus, there
is a clear danger, as evidenced in cases such as Adams, that limited liability can encourage risk that is
excessive, as owners engage in excessively risky activities [being] protected from liability.
This is demonstrated through the observation that directors in privately managed companies stand
behind the veil

In his early life Ramirez was influenced into becoming a killer by his cousin Mike, his cousin Mike
was a Vietnam war veteran who boasted of killing and torturing all of his Vietnamese enemies. Mike

  • 2. The Role Of Self Conflict In Elizabeth Bowen s The Demon... From the numerous amount of short stories Elizabeth Bowen has written, none of them were anthologized as often as The Demon Lover. The Demon Lover was written by Elizabeth Bowen and was published in 1945 and retold several times afterwards through various authors who had different interpretations of the text. Elizabeth Bowen portrays the Man vs. Self conflict through diction, sentence structure and limited dialogue. Reconciling from past memories is difficult regardless of how many years have gone by. Kathleen Drover is never reconciled with her lost past. She cannot overcome her regrets, assimilate an unlived life, and become whole . Elizabeth Bowen s The Demon Lover has been praised by Douglass A. Hughes as a masterful dramatization of acute psychological delusion, of the culmination of paranoia in a time of war (411). As ... As a thunderstorm breaks overhead and heavy rain pummels the house, she reads the terse, handwritten message: Dear Kathleen: You will not have forgotten that today is our anniversary, and the day we said. Th e years have gone by at once slowly and fast. In view of the fact that nothing has changed, I shall rely upon you to keep your promise. I was sorry to see you leave London, but was satisfied that you would be back in time. You may expect me, therefore, at the hour arranged. (Bowen 662) Th e letter is signed simply K. Th ere is no postmark, no return address, just the vague reference to some scheduled rendezvous. Puzzled, she wonders for a moment what such a bizarre and cryptic message could mean. • 3. Canada s North and Aboriginal Popluation Canada s North is often seen as the country s national identity. In actuality, it stems far beyond the isolated land of picturesque vistas used to often describe Canada s rugged landscape. The lived Canadian environment reflects a regional perspective that does not encompass the true reality of the country as a whole. The North links the diversity of Indigenous peoples to the land they have occupied for centuries, a place where they have built their own distinct culture, language and identity. Those ideals have been increasingly challenged in the twenty first century, in spite of the imagined sense of Canadianness in the North but because of the transitioning economy and environment in the North. This paper will explore the challenges facing Canada s northern resource economy and the socio cultural implications on the regions Aboriginal population. Historically, the national psyche of the Territorial North uses the region to define the country to citizens and the world, with 80% of Canadians linking their national identity to the North (Cric Papers 4). Canadians have come to see the North as an idea, not [a] location; a myth, a promise, a destiny (Francis 152). The North serves as a land of imagination and a physical challenge for adventurers, epitomizing the North as a romanticized region (Francis 154) which links the landscape and environment to an imagined sense of Canadian culture and identity. Beyond the depths of the imagined North lie three very distinct ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Critical Review of the Moral, Cognitive, Social and... KOHLBERG S SIX STAGES Level 1. Preconventional Morality Stage 1. Obedience and Punishment Orientation. Kohlberg s stage 1 is similar to Piaget s first stage of moral thought. The child assumes that powerful authorities hand down a fixed set of rules which he or she must unquestioningly obey. To the Heinz dilemma, the child typically says that Heinz was wrong to steal the drug because It s against the law, or It s bad to steal, as if this were all there were to it. When asked to elaborate, the child usually responds in terms of the consequences involved, explaining that stealing is bad because you ll get punished (Kohlberg, 1958b). Although the vast majority of children at stage 1 oppose Heinz s theft, it is still possible for a child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 36 42; Kohlberg, 1958b). If Heinz s motives were good, the druggist s were bad. The druggist, stage 3 subjects emphasize, was selfish, greedy, and only interested in himself, not another life. Sometimes the respondents become so angry with the druggist that they say that he ought to be put in jail (Gibbs et al., 1983, pp. 26 29, 40 42). A typical stage 3 response is that of Don, age 13: It was really the druggist s fault, he was unfair, trying to overcharge and letting someone die. Heinz loved his wife and wanted to save her. I think anyone would. I don t think they would put him in jail. The judge would look at all sides, and see that the druggist was charging too much. (Kohlberg, 1963, p. 25) We see that Don defines the issue in terms of the actors character traits and motives. He talks about the loving husband, the unfair druggist, and the understanding judge. His answer deserves the label conventional morality because it assumes that the attitude expressed would be shared by the entire community anyone would be right to do what Heinz did (Kohlberg, 1963, p. 25). As mentioned earlier, there are similarities between Kohlberg s first three stages and Piaget s two stages. In both sequences there is a shift from unquestioning obedience to a relativistic outlook and to a concern for good motives. For Kohlberg, however, these shifts occur in three stages rather than two. • 5. The Technology Upgrade Chapter 4 Summary Chapter Four The Technology Upgrade Chapter four talks about upgrading technology. The books talk about educators adding technology into the classroom. Technology is being used to transform classrooms. Even though the use of technology is suggested or required from teachers some fail to reiterate it into their curriculum (Johnson,2012, pg.83). This is due to confusion or some being scared to try something new. Instead some stick to the familiar such as using technology for communicating with parents, recording grades and attendance. The lack of usage in technology sometimes has to do with lack of resources (Johnson,2012, pg.83). One way to learn how to use technology more is to add a technology upgrade to your usual activities. Activities such as lectures, student writing, student research, class discussions, math problems, plays and skits, and student speeches. These are just a few examples, use basic technology, spreadsheets, and software in which your students are already comfortable with to replace or enhance your traditional activities. Some benefits of upgrading technology are being able to teach in different learning styles for students (Johnson, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Student projects that involve technology elements cannot be evaluated by paper and pencil tests, so the teacher s ability to create an assessment tool that clearly explains the desired level of technology skill is important. Developing a rubric or checklist of what is expected from students can improve the teacher s instruction. Technology can add to your assessment; make sure you describe what you want in concrete terms, use examples of previous quality work, and make sure the tools are given to students at the time when the assignment is given. In addition, use the assessment tool to help guide revisions, use different assessors, and revise your tools each time their used; too many indicators restrict creativity (Johnson,2012, ... • 6. Marriage In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, a group of traveling pilgrims on their way from London to Canterbury pass the time by telling each other stories and tales. A handful of the tales are on the topic of marriage, most notably The Miller s Tale, The Wife of Bath s Tale and The Merchant s Tale. The Miller talks about his wife and marriage poorly in his prologue and his tale is just as cynical. The Wife of Bath reveals in her prologue that she has had five husbands, something that was frowned upon then just as it still is in today s society. In her tale, the story sees the main character change his view on his own marriage from a negative thing to something he cherishes. Finally, The Merchant s prologue reveals that he, too, has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, The Miller says that there was quite an age difference between John and Alisoun, his wife, and that John heeld hire narwe in cage , meaning that he held her in confinement (Chaucer 267). Husbands having this type of control over their wives was not unique to this time period seeing as it was the norm for many years to come. One part of the story describes what Alisoun is wearing and how she looks. This section goes on for lines and lines and implies that women are only good for their appearance. He also says that Alisoun is gent and smal , which can be translated to slender and delicate while also revealing that she is merely eighteen years old (Chaucer 267). As the story goes on, Nicholas is introduced. He professes his love for her and begs her to return the emotion. She declines and he reacts negatively, to which Alisoun immediately changes her mind and returns his love. She says that they can be together if they wait patiently and are secretive (Chaucer 268). Planning to cheat on one s husband is not something that would be viewed positively in that time and this shows that Alisoun, in a way, did not conform to the way that women were expected to act in marriages at the time. Even though cheating has never been held to a high standard during any time period, having a female character want to act unfaithfully to her husband can be seen as a good thing in terms of female empowerment in The Miller s Tale. • 7. Conflict Reflection The module two journal entry was very eye opening and a great learning experience for me! I was able to see the different behaviors I exhibited in the workplace strictly due to my perception. It was also cool to see how perceptions are always changing over time as well as decisions people make based on their experiences, views, and personal beliefs. For this weeks journal, I want to first start off by defining conflict. We restrict ourselves to consider conflict arising from difference, and the Oxford English Dictionary defines this form of conflict as: ... a serious incompatibility between two or more opinions, principles, or interests ... (Arvinen Muondo Perkins, 2013). Conflict can occur anytime and at any level within an organization. It can occur at five different levels: personal, interpersonal, inter group, inter organizational and international (Arvinen Muondo et al., 2013). The hardest part is how to handle conflict, in my opinion. As individuals, we all disagree, and even in groups, and sometimes it can be vicious and destructive, but these differences do not always have to end up in a conflict. In fact, having an argument is not always bad. It can be beneficial. Every human has control over their own actions and the behaviors they exhibited, which is why it is a struggle for managers to get people to put in their skills, effort, and knowledge willingly while they are actually being directed in order to fulfill goals and help an organization. • 8. Community Development Reflection I have enjoyed taking this class this semester. Even though I hit a few hiccups along the way I pushed through. I think it will help in my future endeavor in community development. Many people can benefit by taking this class and learning more about the health issues within a community. The information can also be carried on and utilized within many other professions. I have shared many of my learning experiences from this class with family and friends and have passed on a lot of knowledge. I honestly feel taking this class in a classroom would have been more educational to me. The use of visuals and hands on is a way I like to learn and as a result I would have retained and understood more in this area. Having an experience professional in the career already attending the class and sharing would have helped me too. Even though I did take this class online and a lot of topics were covered in a short amount of time a lot of good information was taken in. It does help that I have experienced on some level of the topics that were presented. There s always room for more growth while learning more on the topic of health in community development. Things are always changing, growing, and expanding, including the development of new Technology. I have just started the beginning of what all it entails. I think it would be helpful to have learned more on the solution to some of the problems presented. A lot of the topics were interesting to read about, but on some I felt the need ... As energy source it reached peak around 1875, and started decreasing when coal took his place as United states main energy source. Usage of renewable energy sources decreased slowly till 1975 when new technology was developed. This new wave of inventions brought for us solar, wind, geothermal and other new renewable energy sources. Water has shaped Michigan to its shape over the past thousands of years. The total area of Michigan is 96,716 miles squared. The total surface of the Great Lakes is 94,250 miles squared. Michigan is surrounded by 4 of the 5 Great Lakes like shown in figure 1. The Great Lakes include Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and Lake Erie. • 11. Evaluating Bob s Process For Establishing The Nss... 1. Evaluate Bob s process for establishing the NSS advisory board. What could be improved? Bob s rationale behind establishing an advisory board, and his approach for selecting its members, has thus far been successful and valuable for him and the company. He correctly recognized the importance of the big picture, as he chose people whose backgrounds covered a wide range of industries and skills and who could therefore fill in any gaps. Furthermore, Bob s choices were all successful business professionals, so he could therefore be relatively sure that they would be effective in handling any future challenges and recognizing future opportunities. Bob was also cognizant that the business and the family needed unbiased consultants in order to offer advice regarding family employment, and establishing the advisory board presented an outlet in which family members could privately discuss any issues on their mind. Lastly, he established an objective for the board, in that the board would only focus on the big picture, which meant that they didn t get caught in the daily details or argue over the day to day routine. However, he was fortunate in several ways in how well the board worked out. For example, he didn t clear the names with his brother Rex until after he had already offered them a board position and they d accepted; this could have caused conflict with Rex if he had felt slighted or left out of the decision making process or if he had had any complaints about any ... This changed the Crusader s mission of reclaiming Jerusalem from Egypt s command, to overthrow Alexius IV, whose attempts to submit the Byzantine Church to Rome was met with hostility in 1204. While he was placed in palace coup, war was waged on Constantinople, with the Fourth Crusade ending with the subjugation and ransacking of the Byzantine capital later that year. Following the capture of Constantinople, valuable art work, statues and other treasures were pilfered or wrecked. The Byzantine Empire never really recovered from the ransack caused by the war. The Fourth Crusade deeply angered Pope Innocent III, as the Crusaders had attacked their own fellow Christians. The Crusaders were by now unpopular and had yet to achieve their initial goal of regaining control of Jerusalem. Before his death in 1216, Pope Innocent III commissioned the Fifth Crusade to accomplish the mission of the Fourth, to free Jerusalem from Egyptian command. The Crusaders travelled to Acre in 1217 and joined the ruler of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, King John was aware that attacking Jerusalem while Egypt was at full strength was not possible, so they collectively planned to take Egypt under Latin control, thus forcing the Muslims ... Stuck on an island, he is presumed dead. In his absence, suitors for his wife ruin his house with lavish feasts. This epic poem, by Homer, describes how Odysseus, with the help of the gods, gets home and regains his kingship. Justice is always harsh in the Odyssey; there is either no justice or a lot of it; the punishment however, is always severe. When Odysseus departed from Calypso s island, Poseidon noticed and wrecked havoc using his powers of the sea: [Odysseus] heard the thunder of surf on a rocky coast. With an angry roar the great seas were battering at the rocky land and all was veiled in spray. There were no coves, no harbours, that would hold a ship; nothing but headlands jutting out, sheer rock and jagged reefs ; (pg. 81 82). Also after the Phaeacians had helped Odysseus, Poseidon punished them for their kindness to his enemy. Hyperion, the sun god, loved his cattle and told Odysseus and his crew not to eat them. When the crew was starving, they slaughtered and ate Hyperion s cows. Hyperion demanded justice from the gods: Father Zeus and you other blessed gods who live for ever, take vengeance on the followers of Odysseus. . . They have criminally killed my cattle, the cattle that gave me such joy every day as I climbed the starry sky and as I dropped down from heaven and sank once more to earth ; (pg. 190). Zeus answered Hyperion and killed all of Odysseus crew. Aeolus had given Odysseus a large leather bag, which contained the strong winds that could set them off course. • 15. Pepsico Case Study Introduction The Uniform Commercial Code defines a contract as the total legal obligation which results from the parties agreement as affected by the Uniform Commercial code or any other applicable rules of law (Liuzzo, 2016, p.106). The purpose a contract is to create an oral or written agreement between two parties. In the mid 1990 s PepsiCo. ran a promotional campaign Pepsi Stuff, (nonfps, 2007). The campaign attempts to engage and reward the consumer who bought PepsiCo products. Consumers would earn Pepsi points for any Pepsi products they bought. However, according to the UCC if one or more terms, are not in the contract the offer may not be invalid as long as the offer is definite and certain (Liuzzo, 2016). Second an offer must be communicated to the offeree. This is so the offeree is adequately informed prior to making their decision. The offeror communicates the offer orally or written to the offeree (Liuzzo, 2016). Lastly, an offer has to be made with a genuine intention that the offeror will be bound by it (Liuzzo, 2016). The offer cannot be made in anger or jest or under severe emotional strain (Liuzzo, 2016). For example, if a boss jokes that he would sell his house to the next person who bought him a coffee, and then his assistant bought him a coffee, it is very unlikely that she would be able to sue in for his house in court. Thus, if the offer is not made with any actual intent is not a valid offer (Liuzzo, 2016). Did PepsiCo make an offer? In order to determine if Pepsi, as the supposed offeror made to be an offer all three components of an offer must be analyzed. The first requirement an offer has to fulfill is that it is made on definite and certain terms. The offer did specify the quantity requirement of points to receive a Harrier Jet in their commercial (nonfps, 2007). Research Study For An Efficient Study Design A research study should not only start with an efficient study design to address the hypothesis of the study but also the determination of the appropriate number of participants in the study. The sample size is dependent on the study design, on statistical analysis used to answer the study questions, and on the anticipated association between the outcome and the risk factor. The size a sample should not be too large because it wastes money and time both to the investigators and participants involved in the study. The small size sample may lead to inaccurate results and causes to waste time and resources. In addition to the other reasons, participates in a large sample size may be exposed to unnecessary risk. In corporate group scenarios, this essay will support the arguments of Blumberg and Wright that the parent company is not a passive investor , but rather an active force behind the subsidiary. Thus, there is a clear danger, as evidenced in cases such as Adams, that limited liability can encourage risk that is excessive, as owners engage in excessively risky activities [being] protected from liability. This is demonstrated through the observation that directors in privately managed companies stand behind the veil ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
