Big 10 Basketball Analysis
Welcome to the March Madness Mania Blog. Throughout the remainder of the NCAA College
Basketball regular season and tournament play, this blog will be covering big games, individual
performances, and teams that have a chance at making a run in the NCAA tournament. For the first
post of the year I ll be looking at the Big 10 and commenting on teams with a shot at the tournament.
Big 10 Basketball Analysis
The Big 10 is in the middle of what is obviously down year. Still, there is not a Big 10 team with a
losing record and the majority of the league still has a chance at making the tournament. That being
said, if the bracket was drawn up right now, only Purdue, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Michigan
would actually be in the tourney. Maryland and Minnesota are both still have a chance of popping the
tournament bubble, and while Northwestern is currently a lackluster 11 7, they re a team that has the
potential to make a run and squeeze their way into the tournament. It s worth noting that Penn State is
sitting at 13 6 so if they win the majority of their conference wins they could slide their way in. Really
in the Big 10 the only two tourney locks are Purdue and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chris Holtmann is looking like he has a solid chance to win coach of the year as he has completely
turned the Buckeyes around. The Buckeyes were projected as finishing number 11 in the Big 10
before starting season play, but the team has completely outperformed expectations by quite a bit. The
emergence of Keita Bates Diop as a now first round prospect in the NBA draft has been the biggest
boost for the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes starting lineup has 4 solid starters and a rising star in Bates
Diop. The Buckeyes biggest weakness is the point guard position where they completely lack depth.
Still the Buckeyes will likely end up being a 6 8 seed in the NCAA

Worldcom Fraud Paper
The WorldCom fraud case exemplifies almost everything that is wrong with corporate America today.
People become obsessed with money and success and forget what it means to be an honest human
being. Business is a natural human concept. Barter and trade for goods and services are necessary to
the proper function of a society. However, throughout time, rules have been put in place to ensure fair
practices and a level standard for which profits can be evaluated. As meticulous and frustrating as they
may have seemed in Accounting 201 last year, I can understand that there are legitimate reasons for all
of the rules and regulations the industry has put in play. These rules are the definition of industry
standard; every accountant is aware of them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So many students, myself included, study fields that they are not interested in solely because their
parents are paying for their education. Money controls most things in our current societal state;
everything from politics to marriage. With such an emphasis on money, accounting fraud becomes all
the more heinous of a crime. What s interesting in this case, is that Vinson had the support of her
spouse to quit her job once she became consumed with fear surrounding the unethical decisions being
forced upon her . Making ethical choices is a lot easier with the support of someone you love and
trust. Personally, I think I would have refused to commit fraud in this instance. I think regardless of
what your boss tells you to do, if you are aware that it is illegal you should refuse. In Ms. Vinson s
case, WorldCom did not have the ability to fire her. She was performing well in all other areas, and if
by refusing to perform this illegal act she was let go, she could easily turn in the Chief Financial
Officer for conspiracy to commit fraud. Odds are the other mid level accountants that admitted to
committing fraud at the end of the case would have done so earlier on if the SEC was

Confidentiality: Confidentiality is the capability to hide information from those people illegal to view
it. It is maybe the most noticeable feature of the CIA triad when it comes to security; but in the same
way, it is also the one which is attacked most frequently. Cryptography and Encryption techniques are
an example of an attempt to make sure confidentiality of data transferred from one computer to second
computer.
Integrity: The integrity defines to make sure that data is correct and unchanged demonstration of the
unique secure information. One kind of security attack is to intercept a few important data and make
alterations to it before sending it on to the proposed receiver.
Availability: It is significant to make sure that the information concerned is readily available to the
certified viewer at all times. Some kinds of security attack challenge to reject access to the suitable
user, either for the sake of troubling them, or because there is various secondary effect (Perrin, 2008).
For example, by breaking the web site for a specific search engine, a rival may turn into more popular.

William Zinsser s The Transaction
When reading The Transaction I found myself relating to both men but in different instances. While
Dr. Brock seems to enjoy writing as a means of letting go , it seems William Zinsser does it primarily
for professional reasons rather than for a sense of enjoyment. Personally, I find myself writing for both
ways and seeing the task of writing relatably to both Dr. Brock and William Zinsser. For example,
when I am at home and am writing stories or writing casually about something I m interested in, I
usually enjoy it and find it relatively easy. When I m writing a story and run out of ideas I usually let it
sit a couple of days until I come up with something new just as Dr. Brock does. However, when I m

Why Is Algebra Important
Algebra
When I decided to return to school to get my degree I did not think that much about which courses I
would be required to take. I knew there were basic classes such as English, Science, History and Math,
and then the courses that would be required for my degree. I knew I would be taking Algebra at some
point but was not expecting it to be so early on. I am not sure I see a lot of need for Algebra itself in
Human Resources, but I do know that I need it to graduate. I do not feel I am being forced to take
Algebra, it is just another required course, like Intro to Computers, or Student Success, or English.
Math has never been my favorite subject, but more out of fear of not being able to figure all the
problems out, than just a general dislike for the subject.
When I hear the term liberal arts, I think of general education classes not degree specific classes. A
liberal arts degree gives students an education in all the major areas of study such as History, English,
Math, Science and the Arts. Students with degrees in the liberal arts can find employment in a lot of
job fields, as they are educated in various areas. STEM, or Science, Technology, Engineering and

higher education can vary based on the students needs or what they are hoping to achieve. For some, a
higher education degree is required for their choice of profession, such as a teacher or a nurse. For
others, a higher education degree is needed to help further them in a specific career field, such as the

Minority Report Research Paper
Minority Report
What s the best way to lower the homicide rate? By stopping homicides before they happen? At least
that s what the precrime police thought. Neuroin, a new drug introduced into society causes major
birth defects in children of moms that use it. Many did not survive, but three were saved. They had an
unwanted gift though. They could successfully predict future homicides by visions they receive. These
children, called precognitives or precogs, help the department of precrime to completely stop murders
in Washington D.C. for 6 years. The system was thought to be perfect, until a prevision was seen

The security is higher, using a scan of the retina, which is more reliable than a fingerprint, a signature

safer, and more convenient. Minimal crashes will occur, and a person could do other things instead of
driving, say finishing a reaction paper... Although the precrime was a good idea, it proved to be
unreliable and manipulatable, the precrime police did decide to take it down in the end, returning to
more reasonable methods of fighting crime. With good always comes bad. I mean, how would we
define what is good without the evil? With the updated technologies came things like new, more
detrimental drugs, and attempts to get around these new technologies. The removing or replacing of
eyeballs is an example of a retaliation to these new technologies. But, you have to expect people will
find new ways to cheat the system and get around new securities. The good, new technology overrides
the bad things of society. Subsequently, I believe that the future society is better than

Social Class During Ancient Roman Music
Social Class in Ancient Roman Music What was social classes impact on the evolution of music in
Ancient Rome? That is an important question because it parallels how music in modern day, mostly
American, society has progressed. Similar to Rock and Roll being taken from the Blues(History), the
Romans took all of their musical knowledge from the areas the empire conquered. The Roman empire
was alive from 146 BCE 395 CE, the empire covered most of modern day Europe, and small parts of
North Africa, and Asia. The Romans conquered Greece in 146 BCE, and as with other cultures the
Romans adopted the styles of music, incorporated their religious beliefs, and emulated their forms of
education. Greece was especially admired and much was borrowed from them, and much of Greek
and Roman traditions are still held in modern western civilizations. As the Roman empire expanded, it
was spreading unifying and peaceful influence throughout Europe. In 200 CE when the Barbarians
threatened the stability of the empire, the empire began its gradual decline. In 306 337 CE,
Constantine the I, an emperor, practiced Christianity and made it legal for the first time. By end of
century Christianity had a strong influence over many of the regions, cultivating a source of music for
centuries to come. Then, in 395 CE the empire split. Music had several different influences across the
Roman empire. Music sprouted from the influence of ancient Greece, it then had its own place in
everyday life, and then came

Juxtaposition In The Moth
The moth s insignificant being is described through Wolf s usage of juxtaposition and personification.
She begins by mentioning the moth s value and inducts its surroundings. watching him, it seemed as if
a fibre, very thin but pure, of the enormous energy of the world had been thrust into his frail body and
diminutive body (2).The use of juxtaposition compares how little the moth is to his surroundings. The
energy is depicted as thin yet enormous and when thrusted into the moth s body it differentiate the
difference between the two. The contrast idea about the energy hints the size of the moth and further
supporting the idea that the moth is a paltry being. The moth s nature is also describe through
mentioning the strength of death over life. But even as I did so the unmistakable tokens of deaths

marvelous as well as pathetic about him (2).Woolf juxtaposes the moth s existence, she first
complimented the moth but contrast it to its pathetic size implying its incomparable size to his
surroundings. It not being as comparable portrays the minimal value that it plays on the environment
making the moth insignificant Takeaway Sentence It connects to the idea that humans are pathetic
because death plays a bigger role and when it does come human disregard its significant and portrays
themselves higher than death to justify their size showing the pathetic nature of human by making

Background: The effect of innovations within the healthcare industry causes many scientific and
technical changes in healthcare delivery. To cope with these changes, there is necessitate to prepare
and train healthcare workers to improve employees knowledge and the quality of care. Limited
clinical experience with a new mode of mechanical ventilation, such as Airway Pressure Released
Ventilation mode, make its implementation difficult in the real critical world. Adequate staff training
time is essential to improve employees knowledge and skills. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness
of traditional lecture and scenario based learning for training respiratory therapists and critical care
residents at Rush University Medical Center for the use of Airway Pressure Release Ventilation
(APRV). Methods: This is one group pretest and posttest intervention study, a quasi experimental

Ontology is the Specifcation of Conceptualization
Definition of ontology According to Tom Gruber, an AI specialist at Stanford University, ontology is
the specification of conceptualization, used to help programs and human share knowledge. Ontology
also is a description about the concepts and relationships that can exist for an agent or community of
agent. A description in this case means it s like a formal specification of the program. Ontology also is
the working model of entities and interaction in some particular domain of knowledge or practice
according to the information technology. The example of the ontology according to the information
technology aspect is the electronic commerce or the activity of planning. Ontology is the set of
concept that are specified in some way in order to create an agreed in this usage. In some cases, the
ontology can be described as a set of definition of formal vocabulary. Ontologies are also not limited
to conservative definition, that is, definition in the traditional logic sense that only introduce
terminology and do not add any knowledge about the world (Endeton, 1972). Definition of accident
An accident can be defined as the unplanned, uncontrolled event which has led to or could have led to
injury to people, damage to plant, machinery or the environment and/or other loses. Accident also can
be defined as unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting
in damage or injury. It is terrifying and terrible with the explosive accident.

Social Class Impact On Class And Social Institutions Of...
Introduction
For my assignment I was asked to discuss the two way interaction between social class and social
institutions of family, education and religion. I assignment consisted of six questions, how social class
impacts family, how family impacts social class; how social class impacts education, how education
impacts social class; how social class impacts religion, and how religion impacts social class.
All of the above mentioned questions are interlinked, which means that it effects and determines the
other questions answer. Family, education and religion plays a big role in the different societal classes.
The goal of my assignment is to determine whether your class has a different impact on your beliefs,
upbringing and education.
How social class impacts family
A similar rank or standing in society is based on their prestige, power, wealth, education, and other
valued resources (Sawhill, 2013). Individuals in a similar social class tend to have the same values,
leisure interests, and attitudes (Sawhill, 2013). We inherit a social position that is based on our parents
or guardians social class. Family resources affect the children s ability to practise opportunities like
higher education, however one can move down or up the social hierarchy in adulthood which depends
on one s hard work, connections, and motivations (Sawhill, 2013).
Social class affects several aspects of family life. Class variations exists in when people marry, how
parents socialize their

Since the income tax, tariffs have not been a major source of revenue for the United States
government. For this reason, they sold and generated controversies in the United States. However,
there was a time in America s history when tariffs generated enough controversy to almost insight a
civil war. In the U.S. senate, in February 1832, Kentucky Senator Henry Clay gave a speech called In
defense of the American System. Henry Clay s American System included a protective tariff, a
national bank, and federally funded internal improvements. In the speech, Clay defined the most
important part of the American system. Henry Clay stated, ...The policy we have been considering
ought to be continued to be regarded as the genuine American System. The policy Clay was speaking
of was the Protective Tariff. The tariff was so important to Clay s system that it became synonymous
with it. In Clay s economic system, Protective Tariffs were key and served a dual purpose. They
protected private industries from foreign competition and provided revenue for internal improvement
projects. In turn, projects such as canal and road building produce needed jobs and improved the
nation s infrastructure. A national bank provided cheap credit and a uniform currency. Clay believed
this system would create a sound economy and was the responsibility of the government to promote it.

The French Revolution Essay
In the latter years of the eighteenth century, France was an aristocratic bureaucracy, presided over by
sovereign monarch Louis XVI. France was ruled under the Ancien Régime; a social and political
system established by the French in the early renaissance period of the fifteenth century, until the late
eighteenth century where it was violently overturned in the French Revolution. Under the Ancien
Régime the richer a man was, the less he paid. 1 The French Revolution, beginning in 1789 was an era

Bolshevik Propaganda Research Paper
With the civil war ending in October 1922, the Bolsheviks launched a more inappropriate propaganda
directed at common religions. In 1922, the Central Committee created the Anti Religious Commission,

Prescriptive English Essay
Linguists and other scholars who study language do not take prescriptive grammar rules seriously. To
them, understanding the meaning and function of words is more important than correction. They belief
that language is not an empirical fact and that it is not universal, there are hundreds of dialects in a
language which means that there are hundreds of grammars as well. There is also no scientific
validation that can be done on prescriptive grammar. The majority of what native speakers know about
their language wasn t taught to them explicitly but in an implicit way through the communicative
teaching approach which is a more natural way of speaking and has more to do with whether the
message the speaker tries to convey is understood. One example of this is a very common one; a
person says Can I use the bathroom? which is grammatically wrong because of course he/she can, but
the question should be May I use the bathroom? which is asking for permission. If both of the
questions are meant to be understood in the same way by the person who is asking it and the person
who is listening, why should it be wrong? Some examples of popular, enduring prescriptive rules in
English are that a person shouldn t split infinitives, for example: He decided to quickly leave the room
you should say he decided quickly to leave the room. You shouldn t end a sentence with a preposition,
for example: which student did you talk to? you should say: To which student did you talk? Knowing

Similarities Between Edwards And John Winthrop
Sinners in the Hands of the Same God
John Edwards and John Winthrop were two Puritan writers who tried to take on the new world, with
only the rudimentary tools of the unfinished society from which they came. While both authors are
renowned for their sermons during this time, Edwards is known for his drastic and dramatic, Sinners
in the Hands of An Angry God , and Winthrop for his vision of society in, A Modell of Christian
Charity . Edwards appeals to all sinners in his sermon, where he warns them that God will be the
judge of their actions, and that their consequences may be severe. While Winthrop on the other hand,
carefully laid out the religious and social principles that would be the Puritan foundation of their
beliefs, stemming from his understanding of the Holy Bible. In Edwards, Sinners in the Hands of An
Angry God and Winthrop s, A Modell of Christian Charity , we see that both writers had similar
beliefs that stemmed from their Puritan background, yet their interpretations of the bible differed in
the way that they expressed these ideologies to the public.
When comparing the two writers, one should note that both Edwards and Winthrop have numerous
traits in common with many of the Puritan writers of this time, as they understood that God was a

How Did Queen Elizabeth 1 Make England A Better Place
Queen Elizabeth 1: Made England a better place As Queen Elizabeth arrived at the Tower of London
she said Her lands as true as a subject, being prisoner, as ever landing at these stairs. Before Thee, O
God, I speak it, having none other friends but Thee alone (Elizabeth i quotes.) This quote shows that
Queen Elizabeth was very lonely and innocent at the Tower of London as a prisoner. Queen Elizabeth
1 made England a better place while in rule. Before becoming Queen, Elizabeth was a princess. On
September 7, 1533 Queen Elizabeth was born to a King and Queen in England (Biography queen

art of public speaking, which was most significant later in her life (Biography queen elizabeth 1). ...

The island of Haiti, occupied by The Republic of Haiti and the Dominican Republic is one of several
islands discovered by Christopher Columbus during his first voyage to the new world in 1492. At his
arrival, Columbus established a settlement on the north coast which he named Navidad . Columbus
used three boats to make this voyage possible : the Pinta, The Nina and the Santa Maria. Only Santa
Maria reach the rives of America. This boat sank near the site presently known as Cap Haitien. At his
arrival on the island of Haiti, Columbus found the Taino Indian They were very hospitable toward
Columbus and his men. However, Christophe Colombus and his men brutalized so much the Tainos,
they became violent as a direct and implicit response to the intolerance and abuse of the visitors.
Columbus left his men in the America and return to Spain with sample of richess of Saint Domingue.
For his second, Christopher Colunbus fought bitterly against the Indians natives, destroyed and killed
thousands of them in order to settle his troops and invade the entire island. The Spanish were at that
time interested in expanding their territories, spread their religious belief, and increase their gold
reserve. The island was

Essay on Comparison of Fight Club to The Epic of...
Throughout the history, a person has sought for the real reason of happiness. It was sometimes linked
to simple things, whereas sometimes it is thought that even all the values in the world cannot be the
reason of happiness. This transforms happiness into a long, difficult adventure. For finishing this
adventure people use and sacrifice other values. Furthermore, there are lots of stories, legends, epics
that are about this subject. One of epics that is about this subject is The Epic of Gilgamesh. Briefly,
this epic narrates that Gilgamesh s searches about immortality and happiness after his best friend,
Enkidu, dies. In addition, there is a film that manipulates reaching happiness indirectly called Fight

life by fighting and meeting new attendees into club. As a compare of these lives, we can say that both
Gilgamesh and Jack have same kind of problems about their lives before they meet their friends. Also
these new friends add excitement into their lives and change their lives in a good way.
In addition, Jack at the Fight Club fights with Tyler Durden, but Jack does not know the fact that he is
fighting with himself at reality. Comparing this, in the epic Enkidu comes to Uruk for a fight with
Gilgamesh. Then he begins to live there. The similarity between characters is that both Jack and
Enkidu fight to be permitted to join the civilization. We can resemble that there is a ticket for entering
to society. If you obey the rules of society and fight for the acceptance, you will get the ticket which
means that you will be accepted to the society.
Moreover, in the epic when Enkidu dies and Gilgamesh becomes anxious and ruined so he goes on a
journey which is about finding a cure for his fear of death. Gilgamesh s ideas about life change while

Oxidative Stress Key Research Data and Analysis
Key Research Data and Analysis Study 1: Ipc1 controls the Pkc1 activation by modulation of DAG
Regulation of DAG and phytoceramide by Ipc1. When Wild type and GAL7::IPC1 strains were
exposed to galactose and glucose, DAG (activator of PKC1) levels in the GAL7::IPC1 strain increased
when IPC1 was induced by galactose, and decreased when IPC1 was repressed by glucose.
Furthermore, phytoceramide levels were increased when IPC1 was down regulated by glucose in the
GAL7::IPC1 strain. In both wild type strains, no change was seen when IPC1 was up or down
regulated, as expected (Fig. 2). PKC1 activity in relation to DAG and Phytoceramide exposure. Since
IPC1 regulates DAG and phytoceramide levels, the authors wanted to explore if DAG or
phytoceramide can control PKC1 activity. DAG or phytoceramide were delivered in Triton x 100 lipid
micelles and histone phosphorylation by recombinant PKC1 was measured in absence or presence of
lipids. Without lipids, Pkc1 activity was 31.5 pmol/min/mg. When DAG subspecies were added, Pkc1
activity increased up to two fold (Fig. 3A). In order to make sure kinase activity measured was
specific to Pkc1, APP1 activity was measured when exposed to DAG subspecies and as expected, did
not cause phosphorylation of histone, which was expected (Fig. 3B). When phytoceramide lipids were
added, Pkc1 activity decreased by about 50% compared to no phytoceramide, which was expected
because phtyoceramide is an inhibitor of Pkc1 (Fig. 3C). Study 2:

6-N-Propylthiouracil Taste Strips
The use of 6 n propylthiouracil (PROP) taste strips helps determines whether people have a sense of
taste that is, strongly bitter , bitter , or no taste. Through the studies of different reactions to taste, the
hope is to get an overall assumption of taste perception for the population. Taste perception is based
on the different amounts of fungiform papillae on the tongue and it will trigger differences in
perceived taste intensities of other taste stimuli (Pelletier Steele, 2014, Reedy, Haines, Campbell,
2005, Bartoshuk,1993). The number of taste pores correlates with the strongest perception of sweet
taste, but not as much correlation with fungiform papillae density relation to bitter substances (Wolf,

The classifying of medium tasters, no tasters, and super tasters are based on the theory mentioned by
Pelletier Steele (2014) that the amount of taste buds affects ultimately the tasting sensations in each
person. Which this theory makes sense the more taste buds someone has present the more likely they
are to be supertasters because they can have more sensors to have a reaction to the taste. Whereas
Nagy, Steele, Pelletier (2014) mentions how as people progress in age their tongue changes over the
years and loses taste buds, which with less taste buds they have a more likely chance of being a no
taster. More than likely therefore the data showed a small percentage of no tasters because it is not as
likely to occur in this median age bracket unless they were born with a gene change that makes them
unable to taste bitterness. Those who are supertasters probably have the homozygous sensitivity and
that is why they reacted so much to the strip (Dietsch, Solomon, Steele, Pelletier,

Christianity Broadly Consists Of 2.18 Billion People Out
Christianity broadly consists of 2.18 billion people out of 200 countries who believe in the deity Jesus
Christ. Its followers, often believe Christ is the Son of the Holy Trinity and walked the earth as the
incarnate form of God. The population refers to these believers as Christians. Christians hold the
biggest amount of followers in the world compared to every other religion, so with this being said they
are people who should be studied and understood by others. Understanding Christians and being open

Christmas is actually Christians way of celebrating the deity Jesus Christ, for that is the day they
celebrate his birth which occurred 2000 years ago. Even most non Christians at least respect Jesus as a
great moral teacher. In addition, few would argue that this one man has had more impact on the world
than any person in history. Christianity is responsible for the way our society is organized and for the
way we currently live. So extensive is the Christian contribution to our laws, our economics, our
politics, our arts, our calendar, our holidays, and our moral and cultural priorities. The concept of
universal human rights and equality comes exclusively from the biblical idea that all people are
created in the image of God. Christians even come into play when speaking about things that have
changed such as slavery and women s rights. Two thirds of the members of the American abolition
society in 1835 were Christian ministers. This was a big part in helping to stop slavery, even though
some Christians were known to own slaves Christianity itself did help to end slavery all together. Also

The Fallen Woman Of 2005
The Fallen Woman of 2005 The Leading Relationship
The 2005 Salzburg Festival saw a new iteration of Verdi s classic La Traviata, that is, on the other
hand, based on Alexandre Dumas s The Lady of the Camellias. We believe that a classic piece s
staging can prove to be either the sowing the seeds of a grand success, or an ungrateful mission, as
most people approach such performances intentionally or unintentionally with ample preconceptions.
As we have learned after some basic research in the field, our current subject is considered to have
lived up to the expectations, becoming the newly set golden standard of said preconceptions.
The premises
Succeeding a series of much criticized music performances, Willi Decker s approach on La Traviata
caused a relative and absolute impact in the opera scene. Although we do not approve wholeheartedly
with the style, better said, lack of scenery and costumes, lacking abundant objects, there are no
distractions from the characters, such as the Russian Anna Netrebko as Violetta Valéry, and Mexican
Rolando Villazón as Alfredo Germont or Thomas Hampton as Girogio, Alfredo s father. Our paper s
current goal is to attempt to assess how the leading performances collided by the intent of the
direction, how well, how credible the singers could perform this, and how the scenery aided the
purpose of the whole.

Newspaper Style
Introduction
A newspaper headline is often the only thing that readers read in a newspaper, or at least, it is the first
thing that everyone notices in a newspaper. It serves as a indicator for the reader that helps decide
whether to continue on reading the whole text or to skip it onto another one. Each headline should be a
summary of the news which follows. A headline should be a regular sentence structure containing a
subject and a verb. It means that only lexical, not grammatical words are used. The major reason for
that is the space. Then the rule of a sentence may be broken, only minor sentences are used, and such a
headline can be rather difficult to understand. This happens on purpose to make the headline somehow

Critical Criticism Of Emma By Jane Austen
Introduction Jane Austen started writing with the aim of entertaining his family but she turned out to
be a great pioneer of the feminist movement in English literature. In her writing, Jane Austen is able to
distinguish between the genders in her country. It is this her critical point of view that causes her to be
considered a member in the feminist movement. Her significance in the feminist convention is clearly
seen in that in her novels, she reflects the condition of a woman, especially of the middle class, in an
inanimate manner. Her writing depicts her as a critical judge of her society. According to Henry
Bonell, the style that is used by Jane Austen, however simple, is not naïve, the themes, however
profound, are not superficial, her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She indeed is a complex heroine. This is so because it is not something simple to know that what she
observes and thinks or her imaginations are wrong. Lionel Thrilling remarks that it is inevitable that a
reader will get attached to this witty character because her energy, intelligence and style are
impressive to the reader (153). Emma is courageous enough to express her thoughts without minding
the way other people may take her. The independent manners that she possesses are what make her
quite revolutionary. An example is shown when she talks with Harriet on marriage where her female
identity becomes evident, If I know myself, Harriet, mine is an active, busy mind, with a great many
independent resources; and I do not perceive why I should be more in want of employment at forty or
fifty than one and twenty. Woman s usual occupations of eye and hand and mind will be as open to me
then, as they are now; or with no important variation. If I draw less, I shall read more; if I give up
music, I shall take to carpet work. (Emma

Essay on Frank Darabont s The Shawshank Redemption
Frank Darabont s The Shawshank Redemption The movie the Shawshank Redemption, based on the
book by Steven King, I believe is one of the best movies ever made. The portrayal of prison life in the
movie is the best I have seen and a star studded cast including Morgan Freeman supports the
characters and brings to life the everyday struggles of life behind bars. In this paper I will relate topics
from class to the movie and discuss information we have learned through out the semester. One of the
best things about this movie is its portrayal of prison life. There are many movies that deal with prison

In the film the inmates used cigarettes as money, a way to get things in the prison, a feat that seemed
easily accessible in Shawshank at the time, due to the guards taking bribes from delivery drivers and
the inmates themselves. It seemed to me that all of Shawshank was corrupt in its ways. In prison there
are different levels of confinement and this was shown to play a big part in the prisoners life at
Shawshank. If you were caught in the act of doing something against the rules or in Andy s case,
standing up to the warden, you were sent to solitarily confinement for a period of time. In the movie
Andy spent two months in solitary with only bread and water to survive. This to me is a hell of a way
to get what you want out of the inmates but some have nothing to lose so even solitary does not break
them. One of the subjects that the film deals with is the idea of institutionalization. The idea that
inmates that have spent so many years behind bars that they can no longer function in a free society. I
can only imagine how difficult it would be to one day have to get yourself up out of bed, make
yourself some food, and go to work in a society that has passed you by. After forty or fifty years of
inmate life you become depended on the prison it becomes your world, your security. The example of

Marcus Aurelius
There once lived a man who, to some extent, could be considered a real philosopher king. Marcus
Aurelius, known as the last of the good emperors, was a legacy of gentleness and thoughtfulness
whom Russell Crew, the Hollywood actor, played his role in the movie Gladiator (2000) . He was born
in Rome (121 180 CE) and at the age of eleven, he was introduced to the precepts of philosophy.
Through his 19 years as an emperor, the choices Aurelius made towards his people are remarkable
evidences of kind, loving, and prudent character. Together with his work, Meditations (his diaries)
made him one of the most virtuous, humblest, and noblest characters in history. He, to some extent,

However, standards of goodness differ from a person to another. Plato believed a philosopher king can
achieve the absolute standards of goodness and then must be the ruler. Most people, on the contrary,
do not believe in Plato s ideals as various individuals have different interests, and for the sake of
peace, there should not be a ruler who chooses what he thinks is right for his subjects. They want a
system that reflects what they want; they want democracy. Here comes the argument if a philosopher
king should control everything or it is the right of people, the majority, to decide what to happen
(tyranny democracy); to rule themselves. Apparently, there is no absolute regime that has no
drawbacks. Each regime has its own strengths and weaknesses, but which is more compatible with this
age, which is a more appropriate way to settle peace and justice, and which is a better economical
solution a philosopher king or tyranny democracy?
For the sake of justice, people most have the power to rule themselves. This is what Democracy
proponents believe. They believe democracy is the key to a successful nation no matter it is a tyranny

people s voice. Everybody is allowed to participate in the country s

Graffiti can be recognized as a form of art, or a crime, but I see it as mischievous beauty. Graffiti
consists of inscriptions, slogans and drawings scratched, scribbled or painted on a wall or other public

But for those who can, the murals and graffiti are considered art. In the show Switched at birth, there
are two scenarios where graffiti played a crucial part. Once was when Bay and Emmett got back

sides of a building of all their special memories almost like a timeline of their entire relationship.
Another was when Bay got into some trouble and she meets a detainee, Tess, who has a son, Sam, that

The Influence Of Aristotle s Arguments On Single Time
Aristotle has constructed theories and arguments that set him apart from Socrates and Plato. One of his
arguments allegedly concludes that humans cannot affect the future. Though many find comfort in this
conclusion many find it depressing that they are powerless to create a good future. Aristotle s
argument uses a single linear timeline to show the validity of his claims. However, the predeterminist
idea that everything that happens in the future is one single timeline rather than countless branches
stretched out across time and the reality that is experienced is the branch that is actualized.
In his argument, Aristotle claims that there are only two possible outcomes for any prediction, either it
is true, or it is false. If the prediction is true, then it was always true that the prediction was going to be
true, and therefore the prediction could never have been false. Because the prediction could never
have been false then the prediction is a necessary truth. This was smart of Aristotle because, by
definition, a necessary truth can never be false. Because the prediction, as a necessary truth, cannot be
made to be false. Therefore, all predictions that are true cannot be changed to be false. As a result,
every event that happens in the future cannot be changed. Additionally, because anything that could be
accurately predicted as true cannot be changed, nothing can change the events of the future. ... Show

Computer Literacy And The Technology Essay
As the world changes to become a global village thorough technological innovations, computer
literacy gets considered as a very important skill to possess. This is fueled by the fact that nearly every
company has become more dependent on computers and other technology to boost its business
efficiency. Computer literacy is thus an important for one to understand how computers work and
operate and is defined as the knowledge and capability to use computers as well as other related
technology in an efficient manner. It entails the familiarity to computers and the skill of their use.
Most people around the world have access to computers and other devices that can connect to the
internet. It is through these gadgets that people can connect with each other, share stories and photos,
interact with clients and fellow company staff using the social networks. Therefore, social network
sites provide crucial computer literacy activity, as more people who use the internet learn to negotiate
interfaces, personal data and user agreements. By looking at the technological and social factors that
influence computer literacy practices in online networks would provide a basis for understanding the
impact such sites have on people and businesses. Social network sites are the web based services
allowing people to articulate other users with a mutual connection, create a profile within a bounded
system as well as view and navigate the conversations made by other users of the network system.

I never thought I would be going on a vacation until my thirties; thank the lord that I have nice, kind,

Persuasive Essay About Camping
Being outdoors is an amazing solution to spending time with family and friends. It is a fun approach to
mingling and enjoying quality time with them. In addition to that, you are outside spending time in
nature. Taking a break from your everyday life to enjoy what mother nature provides for us, has many
advantages. But, before you start heading to the campground, you should know of all the positive
aspects that you will get once you get outdoors.
It is important to have good company in order to make the camping trip worthwhile and full of
memory making opportunities. It can also be great for those who prefer to have some peace and quiet
time alone. This also gives us a moment to witness and experience nature first hand, and to take a
break from all the distractions of the faster pace lifestyle. Camping is an opportunity to get away from
the usual day to day routine and to get involved with something new and exciting.
Although most people might think that going on a camping trip is too much of a hassle and a time
consuming activity, there are several tips from camping experts and enthusiasts on how to make the
camping experience easy and enjoyable. Camping should be thoroughly executed in order to prevent
speed bumps from turning into full blown issues along the way. When all the check lists and to do lists
are executed properly, campers can truly maximize the overall positive outcome of the camping
experience.
The right gear, the right protection, and a menu of a healthy variety of foods should be considered
when going on a camping trip. You should make sure your personal information is up to date and
inform close friends or family of your trip. Bringing the right type of equipment such as flashlights,
sleeping bags, emergency kit, protection, using the right and comfortable backpack, wearing the right
footwear and clothes, etc. are all essential to enjoying and feeling secured during whole experience.
It is true that you do not have to take a lavish vacation to wind down and take a load of your
shoulders. Of course, you can witness the great outdoors and enjoy the beauty it possesses. Also, more

  • 2. Big 10 Basketball Analysis Welcome to the March Madness Mania Blog. Throughout the remainder of the NCAA College Basketball regular season and tournament play, this blog will be covering big games, individual performances, and teams that have a chance at making a run in the NCAA tournament. For the first post of the year I ll be looking at the Big 10 and commenting on teams with a shot at the tournament. Big 10 Basketball Analysis The Big 10 is in the middle of what is obviously down year. Still, there is not a Big 10 team with a losing record and the majority of the league still has a chance at making the tournament. That being said, if the bracket was drawn up right now, only Purdue, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Michigan would actually be in the tourney. Maryland and Minnesota are both still have a chance of popping the tournament bubble, and while Northwestern is currently a lackluster 11 7, they re a team that has the potential to make a run and squeeze their way into the tournament. It s worth noting that Penn State is sitting at 13 6 so if they win the majority of their conference wins they could slide their way in. Really in the Big 10 the only two tourney locks are Purdue and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chris Holtmann is looking like he has a solid chance to win coach of the year as he has completely turned the Buckeyes around. The Buckeyes were projected as finishing number 11 in the Big 10 before starting season play, but the team has completely outperformed expectations by quite a bit. The emergence of Keita Bates Diop as a now first round prospect in the NBA draft has been the biggest boost for the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes starting lineup has 4 solid starters and a rising star in Bates Diop. The Buckeyes biggest weakness is the point guard position where they completely lack depth. Still the Buckeyes will likely end up being a 6 8 seed in the NCAA ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Worldcom Fraud Paper The WorldCom fraud case exemplifies almost everything that is wrong with corporate America today. People become obsessed with money and success and forget what it means to be an honest human being. Business is a natural human concept. Barter and trade for goods and services are necessary to the proper function of a society. However, throughout time, rules have been put in place to ensure fair practices and a level standard for which profits can be evaluated. As meticulous and frustrating as they may have seemed in Accounting 201 last year, I can understand that there are legitimate reasons for all of the rules and regulations the industry has put in play. These rules are the definition of industry standard; every accountant is aware of them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So many students, myself included, study fields that they are not interested in solely because their parents are paying for their education. Money controls most things in our current societal state; everything from politics to marriage. With such an emphasis on money, accounting fraud becomes all the more heinous of a crime. What s interesting in this case, is that Vinson had the support of her spouse to quit her job once she became consumed with fear surrounding the unethical decisions being forced upon her . Making ethical choices is a lot easier with the support of someone you love and trust. Personally, I think I would have refused to commit fraud in this instance. I think regardless of what your boss tells you to do, if you are aware that it is illegal you should refuse. In Ms. Vinson s case, WorldCom did not have the ability to fire her. • 8. Social Class During Ancient Roman Music Social Class in Ancient Roman Music What was social classes impact on the evolution of music in Ancient Rome? That is an important question because it parallels how music in modern day, mostly American, society has progressed. Similar to Rock and Roll being taken from the Blues(History), the Romans took all of their musical knowledge from the areas the empire conquered. The Roman empire was alive from 146 BCE 395 CE, the empire covered most of modern day Europe, and small parts of North Africa, and Asia. The Romans conquered Greece in 146 BCE, and as with other cultures the Romans adopted the styles of music, incorporated their religious beliefs, and emulated their forms of education. Greece was especially admired and much was borrowed from them, and much of Greek and Roman traditions are still held in modern western civilizations. As the Roman empire expanded, it was spreading unifying and peaceful influence throughout Europe. In 200 CE when the Barbarians threatened the stability of the empire, the empire began its gradual decline. In 306 337 CE, Constantine the I, an emperor, practiced Christianity and made it legal for the first time. By end of century Christianity had a strong influence over many of the regions, cultivating a source of music for centuries to come. Then, in 395 CE the empire split. Music had several different influences across the Roman empire. Music sprouted from the influence of ancient Greece, it then had its own place in everyday life, and then came ... To them, understanding the meaning and function of words is more important than correction. They belief that language is not an empirical fact and that it is not universal, there are hundreds of dialects in a language which means that there are hundreds of grammars as well. There is also no scientific validation that can be done on prescriptive grammar. The majority of what native speakers know about their language wasn t taught to them explicitly but in an implicit way through the communicative teaching approach which is a more natural way of speaking and has more to do with whether the message the speaker tries to convey is understood. One example of this is a very common one; a person says Can I use the bathroom? which is grammatically wrong because of course he/she can, but the question should be May I use the bathroom? which is asking for permission. If both of the questions are meant to be understood in the same way by the person who is asking it and the person who is listening, why should it be wrong? Some examples of popular, enduring prescriptive rules in English are that a person shouldn t split infinitives, for example: He decided to quickly leave the room you should say he decided quickly to leave the room. • 27. Oxidative Stress Key Research Data and Analysis Key Research Data and Analysis Study 1: Ipc1 controls the Pkc1 activation by modulation of DAG Regulation of DAG and phytoceramide by Ipc1. When Wild type and GAL7::IPC1 strains were exposed to galactose and glucose, DAG (activator of PKC1) levels in the GAL7::IPC1 strain increased when IPC1 was induced by galactose, and decreased when IPC1 was repressed by glucose. Furthermore, phytoceramide levels were increased when IPC1 was down regulated by glucose in the GAL7::IPC1 strain. In both wild type strains, no change was seen when IPC1 was up or down regulated, as expected (Fig. 2). PKC1 activity in relation to DAG and Phytoceramide exposure. Since IPC1 regulates DAG and phytoceramide levels, the authors wanted to explore if DAG or phytoceramide can control PKC1 activity. DAG or phytoceramide were delivered in Triton x 100 lipid micelles and histone phosphorylation by recombinant PKC1 was measured in absence or presence of lipids. Without lipids, Pkc1 activity was 31.5 pmol/min/mg. When DAG subspecies were added, Pkc1 activity increased up to two fold (Fig. 3A). In order to make sure kinase activity measured was specific to Pkc1, APP1 activity was measured when exposed to DAG subspecies and as expected, did not cause phosphorylation of histone, which was expected (Fig. 3B). When phytoceramide lipids were added, Pkc1 activity decreased by about 50% compared to no phytoceramide, which was expected because phtyoceramide is an inhibitor of Pkc1 (Fig. 3C). Study 2: ... Through the studies of different reactions to taste, the hope is to get an overall assumption of taste perception for the population. Taste perception is based on the different amounts of fungiform papillae on the tongue and it will trigger differences in perceived taste intensities of other taste stimuli (Pelletier Steele, 2014, Reedy, Haines, Campbell, 2005, Bartoshuk,1993). Whereas Nagy, Steele, Pelletier (2014) mentions how as people progress in age their tongue changes over the years and loses taste buds, which with less taste buds they have a more likely chance of being a no taster. More than likely therefore the data showed a small percentage of no tasters because it is not as likely to occur in this median age bracket unless they were born with a gene change that makes them unable to taste bitterness. We believe that a classic piece s staging can prove to be either the sowing the seeds of a grand success, or an ungrateful mission, as most people approach such performances intentionally or unintentionally with ample preconceptions. As we have learned after some basic research in the field, our current subject is considered to have lived up to the expectations, becoming the newly set golden standard of said preconceptions. Critical Criticism Of Emma By Jane Austen Introduction Jane Austen started writing with the aim of entertaining his family but she turned out to be a great pioneer of the feminist movement in English literature. In her writing, Jane Austen is able to distinguish between the genders in her country. It is this her critical point of view that causes her to be considered a member in the feminist movement. Her significance in the feminist convention is clearly seen in that in her novels, she reflects the condition of a woman, especially of the middle class, in an inanimate manner. In this paper I will relate topics from class to the movie and discuss information we have learned through out the semester. One of the best things about this movie is its portrayal of prison life. If you were caught in the act of doing something against the rules or in Andy s case, standing up to the warden, you were sent to solitarily confinement for a period of time. In the movie Andy spent two months in solitary with only bread and water to survive. This to me is a hell of a way to get what you want out of the inmates but some have nothing to lose so even solitary does not break them. One of the subjects that the film deals with is the idea of institutionalization. The idea that inmates that have spent so many years behind bars that they can no longer function in a free society. One of his arguments allegedly concludes that humans cannot affect the future. Though many find comfort in this conclusion many find it depressing that they are powerless to create a good future. Aristotle s argument uses a single linear timeline to show the validity of his claims. However, the predeterminist idea that everything that happens in the future is one single timeline rather than countless branches stretched out across time and the reality that is experienced is the branch that is actualized. In his argument, Aristotle claims that there are only two possible outcomes for any prediction, either it is true, or it is false. If the prediction is true, then it was always true that the prediction was going to be true, and therefore the prediction could never have been false. Because the prediction could never have been false then the prediction is a necessary truth. This was smart of Aristotle because, by definition, a necessary truth can never be false. Because the prediction, as a necessary truth, cannot be made to be false. Therefore, all predictions that are true cannot be changed to be false.
