In An Increasingly Threatening Environmental Crisis, Zoos
In an increasingly threatening environmental crisis, zoos are participating in the conservation of
species. The biodiversity of the animal and plant worlds is being deeply affected, on the one hand by
the disruption of ecosystems caused mainly by climate change and deforestation, and on the other
hand, by the globalization of trade, travel, transport, and tourism. These two factors are increasingly
reducing animals habitats and endangering many species (Keulartz 336). The evolution of the
preservation role of zoos precipitated the emergence of different animal activist groups, each with
different their specific ethics and agendas. Even in the face of environmental serial destruction, animal
welfare activists criticize zoos efforts to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Influential groups like the Humane Society and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals (ASPCA) admit on their website some zoos are beneficial to animals in supporting
conservation programs, participating in the preservation and restoration of endangered species, and
promoting education about the importance of wildlife ( Position Statement on Zoos and Aquariums ).
However, this statement holds under certain conditions. First, the Humane Society recommends zoos
be organized around a core mission that educates the public about the needs of the animals and the
threats they face. Also, zoos should treat animals humanely and provide care adapted to their physical,
social and psychological needs ( Zoos ). Finally, the ASPCA indicates zoos should participate in
tightly controlled breeding programs and their displays should stress the themes of endangered
species, wild habitat destruction and reduced biodiversity ( Position Statement on Zoos and
Aquariums ). Unfortunately, many zoos do not fall under these descriptions, but they can act on
several factors with the intent to fill in their vast conservation function and thus work towards the
animal welfare activists demands.
Because humane treatment of captive animals and their well being

Analysis Of My Pen Writes In Blue And White By Vincent...
In his essay, My Pen Writes in Blue and White Vincent Cremona writes on how his two distinct styles
of writing and communication are influenced by the manner in which his parents communicated. He
implants the idea in the reader s mind that the influences of those one is raised by help shape an
individual s unique style of communication. In the essay, Cremona describes how communicating in
blue means he uses a practical, basic, and straight to the point manner of delivering information which
he adopted from his father; communicating in white means a more formal, detail oriented approach to
delivering information in which he learned from his mother. He also describes how he adapts his style
of writing depending on the situation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was raised by two very straight to the point parents who almost wholeheartedly exclude any detail
from their sentences and that is very similar to how I communicate today. This concept applies more
to just the mannerisms of one s writing and those one is raised by have a large impact on a large
variety of an individual s personality traits. According to Diana Baumrind(1991) there are three
distinct parenting styles, but we will only be observing two of them: authoritarian, and authoritative
parenting. Authoritarian parents are strict and place on emphasis on following rule and assume the
child is not very competent. Authoritative parents are very involved in the child s life and set
reasonable rules, and have faith in the child s competence. A common example of this is the
differences between kids who are raised with authoritarian parenting styles are more likely to end up
experimenting with drugs and alcohol, engaging in illegal activities, and develop symptoms of
depression or anxiety. Meanwhile kids who are raised with authoritative parenting styles typically
adopt healthy habits and end up doing better in school, while also engaging in extracurricular
activities. A person s early life experiences, especially the examples and style of parenting set by those
who raised them, can significantly influence nearly every minute aspect of an individual s life and
Cremona s essay embodies that idea. I certainly never considered this until reading his work and
reflecting on my own experience in how my parents raised me influenced not only how I act, perform
at work and school, but also the manner in which I communicate with other people on an everyday

The Article On Aliens Among Us
Extraterrestrial life has been a big topic for Americans since day one. According to author Lee Speigel
there is an estimation of 48 percent of Americans throughout the nation that believe in life on other
planets while only 35 percent reject the idea. Life on other planets exists. According to the article
Aliens among Us by Paul, David extraterrestrial evidence has already been discovered such as
different types of bacteria and even water. The article Aliens among Us is a credible source because it
has many explanations and possibilities on how life on other planets can easily be real. Extraterrestrial
life can be many things such as plants or living bacteria. Astronomers have proven that there is water
in other planets such as Mars. Water contains different types of bacteria and cells, water in other
planets can be one of our best piece of evidence that we can prove that there is life on other planets.
There has been UFO s crashes that have been recorded such as in Roswell, New Mexico 1947 but the
government took all the evidence and it s probably in Area 51. Although there is no hard evidence that
proves aliens are real, NASA has announced that they will be able to find living creatures by the year
2025.
On July 3rd, 1947 a UFO crashed in New Mexico in a small town called Roswell. People that have

Analysis Of A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner And A...
The global temporal/geographic setting and the third person point of view through which both short
stories are told are essential literary elements to likes by Sarah Shun lien Bynum and A Rose for Emily
by William Faulkner. The settings in both story provide the reader with context in order to understand
the conflict within both stories. Also the point of view the narrator in each story narrates from gives
the reader an understanding between both conflicting sides of the story. A further analysis of the global
temporal setting, the global geographic setting and the point of view will explain why both of these
literary elements are imperative to both stories. A story can have up to four different types of settings.

not fond of Northerners. Homer was viewed simply as a disgrace to the town and a bad example to the

they need in order to understand aspects of the story and see why the characters behave as they do.
The global temporal setting in likes by Sarah Shun lien Bynum is modern day America and this adds
to the father s dilemma he faces in the story. The father yearns to build a relationship with his

modern technology because they serve as distractions. Even when they are in the house Ivy is either
watching TV or on Instagram while her dad is trying to talk to her. The modern day temporal setting
of this story is important to realize because it is what essentially is causing the conflict in the story.

The Role Of Hamlet Developed Through English And Russian...
How has the character of Hamlet developed through English and Russian Theatre?
Hamlet, the main character from one of the most famous Shakespeare s plays The Tragical Historie of
Hamlet, Prince of Denmarke , is one of the most popular and well known characters around the world
(it is very difficult to find a person who hasn t heard about him). William Shakespeare created an epic
story about a young man, his way to revenge and his internal spiritual fight with his soul full of
melancholy. The depth of the main character allowed different actors to show different ideas and ways
of playing on a stage through playing his role.
The performance history of Hamlet may be considered as an evolution of styles of playing. No play
has been performed more frequently, especially in England, where this famous play was originally
written. But The United Kingdom was not the only place where Hamlet became an iconic figure. In
Russian culture Hamlet has always played an important, special role. Russian society has been using
Hamlet as a mirror for years, finding in this character sometimes role model, sometimes reflection of
its inner problems. The Russian Hamlet has always been defender of truth and fighter of freedom. His
character represented every new period of Russian history (monarchy, communism etc.). On the other
side Russian Hamlet has never been a weak and gutless man. It perfectly mirrors usual Russian
political stance for centuries.

ANALYSIS ROLE OF DEBRIDEMENT IN WOUND HEALING OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETIC
FOOT ULCERS (LITERATURE REVIEW)
Since the concept of wound bed preparation arose (Schultz et al, 2003), striving to achieve a wound
environment that is conducive to healing has become increasingly important (Dowsett, 2002).
Debridement plays a crucial role in this concept. Eliminating non viable tissue from wound bed which
acts as a significant barrier to wound repair if not removed (Dowsett and Claxton, 2006). The presence
of necrotic tissue in wound has known deleterious effects including sepsis and delayed healing.
Debridement is therefore an essential adjuct in treatment of non healing ulcer (Anu, Emane and
Morris, 2001). Debridement is the removal of devitalized or contaminated tissue within or adjacent to
wound until surrounding tissue is exposed (Smith, 2002).According to International Diabetic
Federation (2004), removal of dead or devitalized tissue is paramount for effective wound care of
DFUs. Frykberg et al, (2006) advocate regular debridement to remove necrotic tissue and reduce
burden in order to expedite wound healing. Although it is widely accepted that debridement may be
necessary for optimal wound healing for DFUs, evidence from randomized trials relating to the
effectiveness of its different method is lacking and method of measuring its effectiveness are poorly
developed (Haycock and Chadwick, 2012). Debridement has always been

New Atlantis Salomon s House Summary
On page 58 of New Atlantis Salomon s House is described as an institution, dedicated to the study of
the works and creatures of God. The purpose of the society is to discover and explore the true nature
of all things. This is accomplished through the ordinance by which ships are sent out on voyages from
the island. These ships sail to other countries collecting new knowledge of science, art, and
manufacturing. Therefore, according to the priest, Salomon s House functions as a center of trade, not
of commodities, but of knowledge of God and his creation. Later in the work, on page 71, the ends of
Salomon s House are stated as being, the knowledge of Causes, and secret motions of things; and the

The Controversy About Feminism
In the minds of many, feminism is confused with misandry, the belief that women should be more
powerful than men; however, this could not be further from the truth. Feminism is women, men, and
nonbinaries taking a stand, together, for equality. Fighting for unshaved female legs, fighting for late
night walks through the park completely alone, and completely safe. Fighting for higher rates of self
esteem and complete acceptance without judgment. Feminism tells males that it is okay to cry and
show emotion. Feminism teaches the world that we are all the same, that we should strive for a better
world for all. Feminism is the fight for equal rights and equal treatment in all areas of society,
regardless of gender or sexual identity.

Deception In The Inferno And Boccaccio s The Deccameron
The theme of lying and deception reoccur frequently throughout Dante s, The Inferno and Boccaccio
s, The Decameron. In Dante s, The Inferno we meet Geryon, a monster who leads Dante and Virgil
into the eighth circle of hell. Dante believes that committing fraud and deception are the worst sin s
and he illustrates that through Geryons physical traits, and where Geryon leads them, Malebolge. In
Malebolge, the eighth circle of hell, Dante further illustrates the themes of lies and deception by the
sinners he meets and the stories he is told. The themes of lies and deception are prevalent not only
through the Inferno but, also through Boccaccio s, The Decameron. Throughout The Decameron,
Boccaccio uses lies and deception to build his hero s throughout the stories. The first story takes the
theme of lies and deception and shows them through the character, Ciappelletto. Ciappelletto lies his
way to heaven and ends up being praised by a city upon death, although his whole life he has been a
sinner. Boccaccio often uses lies and deception to lead the characters to heaven, compared to Dante
who sees how lies and deception have led the characters to hell. Throughout both texts the theme of
lies and deception are prevalent and play a significant role in both stories. In Dante s, The Inferno, lies
and deception are represented strongly through the monster Geryon. Geryon has many deceiving
characteristics that represent lying and fraud. Dante describes Geryon as, His face is appealing like
that of an honest man, but his body end in a scorpion like stinger. (Dante 223) Geryon has the face of
an innocent man, which represents your typical person committing fraud, like we see in big business
today. His scorpion like tail represents the downside to these businessmen because even though they
look good at first, they are going to come back and sting you, by committing fraud against you.
Geryon takes Vigil and Dante from the seventh circle of hell into the final circle of hell, Malebolge. In
Malebolge, Dante and Virgil meet many sinners who have committed the act of fraud, all of the
sinners are punished in unique ways depending on what type of fraud they committed. The sinners in

Moreover, another scene that would translate well on the cinematic screen would be the classroom

he is not one of them. This is illustrated through Gordy showed a lot of courage in standing up to a

Migration In Canada
The composition of Canada s population today is very different than it was many decades ago. In
years prior to World War II Canada s ethnic homegenetity was made up of mostly the British and
French, although Canada was previously inhabited by Natives. However, people began a migration
process that saw increased movement of people from one place to another through the world. Canada,
being one of the classical migration countries began to pull immigrants at one period, then a push
occurred after the world war that saw emigration out of Canada. This was followed by another period
of pull factors that saw an expansion in the makeup of Canada s ethnic population. According to

Britain. Reitz (2014) illustrated that about 80% of the of immigrants prior to 1961 was European the
remaining population was non white. However, the periods following 1961 to 2001 saw a decline in
the ethnic makeup as some of the Europeans and Americans began to immigrate back to their country

Before going into the background of the Walt Disney Company and its theme parks, it is necessary to
define some terms that are used throughout the paper. These terms are defined as the researcher

Since the focus of this paper is international theme parks, only a brief history of the American theme
parks will be discussed. Walt Disney thought of the idea of the theme park one day when he took his
daughters to a local park and watched them as they rode the merry go round (Disney, 2009). Disney
wanted a place where children and their parents could have fun and enjoy the rides together (Disney,
2009). Disneyland was, thus,
Conceived as a celebration of America s past and as a paean to its progress, or as Walt Disney put it:
the older generation can recapture the nostalgia of the days gone by, and the younger generation can
savor the challenge of the future (Bryman, 1999, p.31).
As Bryman argues, Disneyland was designed to make the older generation feel nostalgic. This feeling
of nostalgia is created on Main Street, USA and Frontierland which represent America s past.
Disneyland was also created to capture the imagination of children as seen in Fantasyland and
Tomorrowland.
Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California on July 17th, 1955. Walt Disney s theme park idea soon
expanded past what he had space to build in California which prompted the building of the Walt
Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The Magic Kingdom, the first theme park built at Disney
World, opened after his death in October of 1971 (Disney, 2009). The feeling of nostalgia is recreated

colony.
In the 1880s and 1890s, Mopan and Kekchí Maya fled from forced labor in Guatemala and settled in
several villages in southern British Honduras. Under the policy of indirect rule, a system of elected
alcaldes (mayors) linked these Maya to the colonial administration. However, the remoteness of their
settlements resulted in the Mopan and Kekchí Maya becoming less assimilated into the colony than
the Maya of the north, where a Mestizo culture emerged. By the end of the 19th century, the ethnic
pattern that remained largely intact throughout the 20th century was in place: Protestants largely of
African descent, who spoke either English or Creole and lived in Belize Town; the Roman Catholic
Maya and Mestizos who spoke Spanish and lived chiefly in the north and west; and the Roman

Failure Doesn T Come From Falling Down By Francisca Cardenas
Francisca Cardenas November 20, 2015 It s really difficult to find success there s many obstacles that
cross our paths and most end up defeating us. Some people decide to give up or for others graduating
high school is their own success. Everyone has different perspectives of what success is or means to
them. In my opinion success is when you re content with the goals you ve accomplish or have yet to
achieve. If you ve achieved your goals then you have succeeded. Even if it s the simplest thing, to
another person that shouldn t matter because your success will please you and not others. While
preceding your goal in life, there will be a lot of people who will try to belittle you in every way they
can but like its once was said, Some people don t like you because your strength reminds them of their
weakness. Don t let the hate slow you down. Thema Davis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Believing in yourself is extremely important, so you can pick yourself up when you have fallen. When
people fail they automatically give up with out giving it a second try. In order for you to succeed we
must remember that failure is just an obstacle that we must over come. Most people say, Failure doesn
t come from falling down. Failure comes from not getting up and I totally agree. Even the greatest of
people have failed at a point but they didn t give up which is why they re where they stand now. In my
opinion failing gives me such a hallow feeling but it doesn t hurt to get back up and try again. So,
remember when things get hard just keep driving through it will all be worth

Research Paper On Abolishment Of Slavery
Often times in America, land of the free, diversity is celebrated in order to create peace between
cultures and establish a safe area where people will be judged for who they are rather than by the color
of their skin. This idea of a picture perfect world may never exist however, based on the fact that
diversity seems to create conflict a lot more often than resolve. All cultural conflicts spark from the
shared roots of oppression and varying beliefs.
The oppression of entire cultures lead to one the most most hated practices in America. For many
years slavery oppressed minorities within the U.S. Looking back, there is no way to defend the ethical
malpractice that is slavery, therefore it was abolished. However the abolishment of slavery lead to one
a the scariest American based cultural conflicts. For a large portion of white people in the USA from
1776 1864 slavery was a simple way to feed the corrupt monster within known as laziness, but sadly it
lead to extreme abuse of the minorities. The southern culture was very pro slavery, whereas the culture
of many minorities believed in having equal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanks to things becoming globalized so quickly due to advances in technology, such as social media

incoming beliefs and traditions it is more important than ever that cultures stick strong to their core
beliefs and values if they wish to not be overcome. A chinese proverb states that, No matter how the
wind howls, the mountain will never bow. The problem in today s society, however, is that each
culture is the wind and the mountain they cannot learn to understand how their culture fits in the
world. Without learning to coexist in harmony with other cultures world peace will never be achieved,
and conflicts will continue to arise from oppression and varying

How Does Richard Wright Encourage Police Brutality
Richard Wright was born after the Civil War but before the Civil Rights Movement. If Wright was
writing an autobiography, titled Black Boy(today in 2017) about a black boy growing up in the United
States, he would write about police brutality in the United States, the 1st African American President,
and how African American sports stars affected the nation. In the modern day, police brutality still
exists on the land of America, although it is now 49 years after the Civil Rights Movement. Because
of historical reasons, police brutality highly approached to African Americans, who suffer from racism
and segregation. According to Shaun King, We should all be deeply disturbed by the fact that an
unarmed African American man is an astounding seven times more likely to be killed by American
police than an unarmed white man. This shocking comparison warns Richard Wright and us that
inequality has not gone yet. It would also bring rage to Richard since police brutality is an evil abuse
of power and trust. To have the very people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

these sport superstars for what they have contributed to America. Michael Jordan is another significant

knowing that what he was doing was against the law, he still went ahead and bought 100 shares of
TGS stock. Huntington was involved in insider trading.
#2 What is your assessment of the Texas Gulf Sulphur press release of April 12?
My assessment on the Texas Gulf Sulphur press release of April 12 was that due to the rumors that a
major ore strike is I the making, and the unauthorized report being published, there was an actual press
release. In my opinion, if it wasn t because of all the rumors Stephens, Fogarty, and Huntington
wouldn t have agreed to have a press release, which was only held to stop the rumors and give false
information to the world on their discovery.

The New Imperial Movement
With the new imperial movement came with a lot of inequality and destruction with the colonies.
Droughts, famines, and diseases were at high in Asia, specially India and China, and could have been
preventable. The British government and other imperial powers could have stepped in and helped
prevent and or lessen the severity of in those areas, yet none of them received help. There was a
surplus amounts of food available in those countries plus with the addition of railroads that could have
easily help with fast transportation more effective and efficient to get food to these people, yet still
nothing happened to help the ones in needs that were used to help fuel European economy, mainly
Great Britain s. As Davis says in his book, Late Victorian Holocausts: El Niño Famines and the
Making of the Third World, We are not dealing, in other words, with lands of famines becalmed in
stagnant backwaters of world history, but with the fate of tropical humanity at the precise moment
(1870 1914) when its labor and products were being dynamically conscripted into a London centered
world economy. Millions died in the golden age of Liberal Capitalism; indeed, many were
murdered.... . With this there was a dramatic rise in European wealth and low economic wealth in the
colonies, especially the ones with natural disaster like India. The political and economic decisions
made by these imperial powers were resulted in these disasters. Those with economic and political

Card Marking
Right when I entered this classroom in the first day of school, I knew that it ll go both ways, good or
bad, and if I would like it or hate it. The outcome was going to be in the first carding marking, and it
didn t turn out the way I expected it to be. We did a lot of things this card marking, we did AOW, I Am
From Poem, setting up RN and WN, Book a Box, and a few other assignments as well.
The first poem that we did was the I Am From poem. That was a fun assignment because you get to
talk about yourself and your culture. No one should ve gotten less than 90% in that assignment
because it was so easy. You don t even have to rhyme (it was optional if you could rhyme or not), you
just have to write about yourself. We did this assignments because Mrs. Chabaan wanted to see if you
could write a good 9th grade poem. Out of all of the assignments we ve done, this one was the easiest
one that we did.
The reading category was pretty difficult for me because of the AOW ( Article of the Week). It s really
difficult because you had to write a few quotations and analysis, that means that you have to write a

Essay On Non-Sided Perception
Can an expert or a non expert communicator change the attitude of an individual using a two sided
message?
Using messages that were either one sided or two sided conveyed by an expert and a non expert. The
aim of the study was to measure the change in attitude of individuals. Using healthy eating as the topic
of discussion. By using a questionnaire that is then scored by the participant on the semantic scale on
their attitude towards the messages. The results provided were insignificant this could be derived by
many possible reasons. As an overall conclusion from the evidence obtained remain inconclusive as
the results proved to be insignificant.

(2000); Holdsworth, Raymond et al. (2004), it was stated that having some form of knowledge of
healthy eating increases the chances of behaviours and attitudes changing. As experts such as doctors,
nutritionists, fitness gurus etc. have a better understanding of healthy eating providing a two sided
communicator expertise message. Than non expert communicators as they provide information based
on opinion.
Many individuals are more reluctant adhere to the messages provided by these experts. Therefore,
their attitude towards healthy eating is most likely to change regardless of their status in society. The
messages conveyed can impact on an individual through facts. Tesser, Martin and Mendolia (1995)
created a study thinking about a person who did something nice led that person to be evaluated more
favourably than when distracted from thinking, whereas thinking about a person who was insulting led
to more negative evaluations then when distracted. This is believed to change the attitude of an
individual through bias thinking. Which is a factor that influences the change in attitude of
individuals.
As the expert has prior knowledge and has enough sufficient information to encourage the individual
to change their attitude towards healthy eating. By providing them with non bias messages. However,
Forgas, 1995; Petty et al (1993) believe that when motives bias thinking, people actively try to
generate favourable or unfavourable thoughts. Biased thinking

Native Americans Short Story
Many objects have a story to tell. Those stories can be very historical and eventful. Some are not just
objects, but structures and monuments. Some are even unexplainable and have been studied for years.
Native Americans have many stories and objects to tell stories to other generations. The headdress had
a very important part in the story of how the Native Americans survived the fight for this land. The
fight between the Indians, Cougars, and Vikings was a great battle in Georgia history that is not well
known to many people except the remaining descendants. A very long time ago, before the land was
claimed by anyone, the Indians had found the land. For much time they had suffered from other
violent wars with Native tribes and were forced to abandon their land to avoid more war. The land was
perfect for them; it was big enough for agriculture and homes. They went to gather supplies to build
huts. An Indian, alone in the woods gathering more supplies, was unexpectedly attacked by a cougar.
Its razor claws cut various spots on the Indian and its sharp teeth sinking into the Indians forearm, the
Indian struggles to get an advantage over the cougar until he is able to grab his tomahawk and hack it

The Killer Angels By John M. Skipper Essay
History 1301 John M. Skipper
The Killer Angels is a historic backstory of the days leading up to the Civil War. The story is told from
multiple viewpoints including Robert E. Lee, James Longstreet, George Meade, and Winfield Scott
Hancock. It is mentioned the Army of Northern Virginia is moving behind the Blue Ridge Mountains,
and that the Army of Potomac is also moving, but is traveling very slow. This is one of the
characteristics which plagued them throughout the war. Shaara gives insight to the background of both
Armies. He described the Confederates as a unified group with soldiers of the same background, while
the Union is the exact opposite. Its men are very divided soldiers fighting for unification. There is one
similarity between the two sides which stands out more than all the others; both sides are ready for the
final showdown. Shaara gives insight into this by hinting towards the conflict, yet never telling the
reader directly. This causes the reader to be drawn deeper into the story anticipating what will happen
next.
There are illustrations showing movement of the Confederate and the Union armies, an epilogue, and
an afterword stating the events after the Battle of Gettysburg. In the foreword, Sharra tells the reader
the purpose of the book is to educate the reader on the history of the battle, but also give insight into
the soldier s thoughts. Sharra also writes that out of all the historic writings about the battle, he chose
to use letters,

Freud s Stages Of Development
1. From birth to a year and six months, Freud theorized that children go through an oral stage. During
this stage, children s pleasure focuses primarily on the mouth with chewing and biting as the main
sources of stimulation. Too much or too little satisfaction at this stage may cause the children to smoke
or eat often as an adult. Next, children go through the anal stage from age one year and six months
until age three. During this stage, pleasure stems mainly from bathroom activities as children deal with
their want for power. In adulthood, anal fixation may cause anal retention or an extreme need for
cleanliness. At three to six years, children experience the phallic period. The phallic period focuses on
pleasure stimulation from the genitals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A parent could apply unconditional positive regard in interacting with a child by completely and
ultimately supporting and comforting them no matter who they have become or what they believe. A
parent could apply conditional positive regard in interacting with a child by disapproving of who they
have become or what they believe. This may be exemplified best by homosexuality. When a child
discusses their homosexuality with their parents, two reactions can occur in the form of conditional
and unconditional positive regard. Unconditional positive regard would lead the parents to support and
love their child all the same, while conditional positive regard may result in the parents completely
and utterly losing their mind and disconnecting themselves from their

Art Is The Visual Manifestation And Application Of Human...
Art is the visual manifestation and application of human creativity, typically executed through
painting or sculpture. Art is multifunctional, in that it has the ability to transcend the visual by evoking
an emotional response in a non verbal way. In art, artists are able to utilize their medium to connect
their personal message to the audience in a non traditional manner. Disarming the audience by
presenting a new perspective on critical issues through the implementation of art and can help combat
problems concerning identity politics and stereotypes. Artists have the aptitude to inspire change in
their world by shattering conventional thinking on canvas. The biography and artworks of artist Jean
LaMarr demonstrates this very notion. By analyzing artworks such as LaMarr s Dolly Digle s Friend,
one can see how the message of her artwork goes beyond the expectations of the canvas, surpass the
visual experience and challenge the audience to confront stereotypes as she reclaims her Native
American identity. Jean LaMarr was born on the Susanville Indian Rancheria in California. The Pit
River and Paiute artist works primarily now as a printmaker, however still paints, and still participated
in creating video productions as well as installations. The now nationwide known community arts
activist has revolutionized her practices by taking her gift outside the studio and into the world by
working with local Native youth in the creation of community murals. Jean LaMarr is not

Impatience And Nonviolent Liberation Movements
In the context of the social crises that ravaged the United States during the mid to late 1960s, black
ghettos were predominantly radicalized by the youth. Impatience grew, and nonviolent liberation
movements such as the ones of Martin Luther King, saw their influence fall into decline. This lead to
new forms of more virulent struggles that emerged in recent years, with Malcolm X and the Black
Panthers attracting a younger generation that was no longer satisfied with the civil disobedience
approaches that the previous generations employed. Martin Luther King preached and practiced civil
disobedience, as in the refusal to comply with certain laws in a peaceful form of protest. From his I

  • 2. In An Increasingly Threatening Environmental Crisis, Zoos In an increasingly threatening environmental crisis, zoos are participating in the conservation of species. The biodiversity of the animal and plant worlds is being deeply affected, on the one hand by the disruption of ecosystems caused mainly by climate change and deforestation, and on the other hand, by the globalization of trade, travel, transport, and tourism. These two factors are increasingly reducing animals habitats and endangering many species (Keulartz 336). The evolution of the preservation role of zoos precipitated the emergence of different animal activist groups, each with different their specific ethics and agendas. Even in the face of environmental serial destruction, animal welfare activists criticize zoos efforts to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Influential groups like the Humane Society and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) admit on their website some zoos are beneficial to animals in supporting conservation programs, participating in the preservation and restoration of endangered species, and promoting education about the importance of wildlife ( Position Statement on Zoos and Aquariums ). However, this statement holds under certain conditions. First, the Humane Society recommends zoos be organized around a core mission that educates the public about the needs of the animals and the threats they face. Also, zoos should treat animals humanely and provide care adapted to their physical, social and psychological needs ( Zoos ). Finally, the ASPCA indicates zoos should participate in tightly controlled breeding programs and their displays should stress the themes of endangered species, wild habitat destruction and reduced biodiversity ( Position Statement on Zoos and Aquariums ). Unfortunately, many zoos do not fall under these descriptions, but they can act on several factors with the intent to fill in their vast conservation function and thus work towards the animal welfare activists demands. Because humane treatment of captive animals and their well being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Analysis Of My Pen Writes In Blue And White By Vincent... In his essay, My Pen Writes in Blue and White Vincent Cremona writes on how his two distinct styles of writing and communication are influenced by the manner in which his parents communicated. He implants the idea in the reader s mind that the influences of those one is raised by help shape an individual s unique style of communication. In the essay, Cremona describes how communicating in blue means he uses a practical, basic, and straight to the point manner of delivering information which he adopted from his father; communicating in white means a more formal, detail oriented approach to delivering information in which he learned from his mother. He also describes how he adapts his style of writing depending on the situation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was raised by two very straight to the point parents who almost wholeheartedly exclude any detail from their sentences and that is very similar to how I communicate today. This concept applies more to just the mannerisms of one s writing and those one is raised by have a large impact on a large variety of an individual s personality traits. According to Diana Baumrind(1991) there are three distinct parenting styles, but we will only be observing two of them: authoritarian, and authoritative parenting. Authoritarian parents are strict and place on emphasis on following rule and assume the child is not very competent. Authoritative parents are very involved in the child s life and set reasonable rules, and have faith in the child s competence. A common example of this is the differences between kids who are raised with authoritarian parenting styles are more likely to end up experimenting with drugs and alcohol, engaging in illegal activities, and develop symptoms of depression or anxiety. Meanwhile kids who are raised with authoritative parenting styles typically adopt healthy habits and end up doing better in school, while also engaging in extracurricular activities. A person s early life experiences, especially the examples and style of parenting set by those who raised them, can significantly influence nearly every minute aspect of an individual s life and Cremona s essay embodies that idea. I certainly never considered this until reading his work and reflecting on my own experience in how my parents raised me influenced not only how I act, perform at work and school, but also the manner in which I communicate with other people on an everyday ... According to author Lee Speigel there is an estimation of 48 percent of Americans throughout the nation that believe in life on other planets while only 35 percent reject the idea. Life on other planets exists. According to the article Aliens among Us by Paul, David extraterrestrial evidence has already been discovered such as different types of bacteria and even water. The article Aliens among Us is a credible source because it has many explanations and possibilities on how life on other planets can easily be real. Extraterrestrial life can be many things such as plants or living bacteria. Astronomers have proven that there is water in other planets such as Mars. Water contains different types of bacteria and cells, water in other planets can be one of our best piece of evidence that we can prove that there is life on other planets. There has been UFO s crashes that have been recorded such as in Roswell, New Mexico 1947 but the government took all the evidence and it s probably in Area 51. Although there is no hard evidence that proves aliens are real, NASA has announced that they will be able to find living creatures by the year 2025. • 9. The Role Of Hamlet Developed Through English And Russian... How has the character of Hamlet developed through English and Russian Theatre? Hamlet, the main character from one of the most famous Shakespeare s plays The Tragical Historie of Hamlet, Prince of Denmarke , is one of the most popular and well known characters around the world (it is very difficult to find a person who hasn t heard about him). William Shakespeare created an epic story about a young man, his way to revenge and his internal spiritual fight with his soul full of melancholy. The depth of the main character allowed different actors to show different ideas and ways of playing on a stage through playing his role. The performance history of Hamlet may be considered as an evolution of styles of playing. No play has been performed more frequently, especially in England, where this famous play was originally written. But The United Kingdom was not the only place where Hamlet became an iconic figure. In Russian culture Hamlet has always played an important, special role. Russian society has been using Hamlet as a mirror for years, finding in this character sometimes role model, sometimes reflection of its inner problems. The Russian Hamlet has always been defender of truth and fighter of freedom. His character represented every new period of Russian history (monarchy, communism etc.). On the other side Russian Hamlet has never been a weak and gutless man. It perfectly mirrors usual Russian political stance for centuries. I am going to consider how the style of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ANALYSIS ROLE OF DEBRIDEMENT IN WOUND HEALING OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETIC FOOT ULCERS (LITERATURE REVIEW) Since the concept of wound bed preparation arose (Schultz et al, 2003), striving to achieve a wound environment that is conducive to healing has become increasingly important (Dowsett, 2002). Debridement plays a crucial role in this concept. Eliminating non viable tissue from wound bed which acts as a significant barrier to wound repair if not removed (Dowsett and Claxton, 2006). The presence of necrotic tissue in wound has known deleterious effects including sepsis and delayed healing. Debridement is therefore an essential adjuct in treatment of non healing ulcer (Anu, Emane and Morris, 2001). Debridement is the removal of devitalized or contaminated tissue within or adjacent to wound until surrounding tissue is exposed (Smith, 2002).According to International Diabetic Federation (2004), removal of dead or devitalized tissue is paramount for effective wound care of DFUs. Frykberg et al, (2006) advocate regular debridement to remove necrotic tissue and reduce burden in order to expedite wound healing. Although it is widely accepted that debridement may be necessary for optimal wound healing for DFUs, evidence from randomized trials relating to the effectiveness of its different method is lacking and method of measuring its effectiveness are poorly developed (Haycock and Chadwick, 2012). In Dante s, The Inferno we meet Geryon, a monster who leads Dante and Virgil into the eighth circle of hell. Dante believes that committing fraud and deception are the worst sin s and he illustrates that through Geryons physical traits, and where Geryon leads them, Malebolge. In Malebolge, the eighth circle of hell, Dante further illustrates the themes of lies and deception by the sinners he meets and the stories he is told. The themes of lies and deception are prevalent not only through the Inferno but, also through Boccaccio s, The Decameron. Throughout The Decameron, Boccaccio uses lies and deception to build his hero s throughout the stories. The first story takes the theme of lies and deception and shows them through the character, Ciappelletto. Ciappelletto lies his way to heaven and ends up being praised by a city upon death, although his whole life he has been a sinner. Boccaccio often uses lies and deception to lead the characters to heaven, compared to Dante who sees how lies and deception have led the characters to hell. Throughout both texts the theme of lies and deception are prevalent and play a significant role in both stories. In Dante s, The Inferno, lies and deception are represented strongly through the monster Geryon. Geryon has many deceiving characteristics that represent lying and fraud. Dante describes Geryon as, His face is appealing like that of an honest man, but his body end in a scorpion like stinger. (Dante 223) Geryon has the face of an innocent man, which represents your typical person committing fraud, like we see in big business today. His scorpion like tail represents the downside to these businessmen because even though they look good at first, they are going to come back and sting you, by committing fraud against you. Geryon takes Vigil and Dante from the seventh circle of hell into the final circle of hell, Malebolge. In Malebolge, Dante and Virgil meet many sinners who have committed the act of fraud, all of the sinners are punished in unique ways depending on what type of fraud they committed. The sinners in the fourth Bolgia of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Walt Disney thought of the idea of the theme park one day when he took his daughters to a local park and watched them as they rode the merry go round (Disney, 2009). Disney wanted a place where children and their parents could have fun and enjoy the rides together (Disney, 2009). Disneyland was, thus, Conceived as a celebration of America s past and as a paean to its progress, or as Walt Disney put it: the older generation can recapture the nostalgia of the days gone by, and the younger generation can savor the challenge of the future (Bryman, 1999, p.31). As Bryman argues, Disneyland was designed to make the older generation feel nostalgic. This feeling of nostalgia is created on Main Street, USA and Frontierland which represent America s past. The story is told from multiple viewpoints including Robert E. Lee, James Longstreet, George Meade, and Winfield Scott Hancock. It is mentioned the Army of Northern Virginia is moving behind the Blue Ridge Mountains, and that the Army of Potomac is also moving, but is traveling very slow. This is one of the characteristics which plagued them throughout the war. Shaara gives insight to the background of both Armies. He described the Confederates as a unified group with soldiers of the same background, while the Union is the exact opposite. Its men are very divided soldiers fighting for unification. There is one similarity between the two sides which stands out more than all the others; both sides are ready for the final showdown. Shaara gives insight into this by hinting towards the conflict, yet never telling the reader directly. This causes the reader to be drawn deeper into the story anticipating what will happen next. There are illustrations showing movement of the Confederate and the Union armies, an epilogue, and an afterword stating the events after the Battle of Gettysburg.
