I decided to run an econometric analysis to see whether government corruption hinders or helps
economic development. Method: There were three datasets I used for this paper. The first and the main
dataset was the dataset that contained the data on government corruption, which came from the
Worldwide Governance Indicators excel file posted on World Bank. From this dataset, I pulled out one
important variable called Corruption, which is a measure of the government performance. It ranges
from 2.5 (bad government performance/corrupted) to 2.5(good government performance/not
corrupted). We need to be careful when interpreting this variable because even though this is a
corruption measure, higher positive value actually means the government is doing better and less

The Works Of Anonymous Street Artist
This paper will explore a form of modern day propaganda which is quite controversial, that of the
works of anonymous street artist by the name of Banksy. Banksy uses the sides of buildings, streets
and bridges as a blank canvas as a social commentary against political issues. Chapter 1 will argue
how Banksy s street art is a form of visual culture and propaganda by defining propaganda and
comparing his works to previous examples of visual manipulation in history, such as pro war posters
during World War I and II. Chapter 2 will further explore the nature and intention of the artist,
focusing on the content of his work as well as the political, social and religious context they display.
Furthermore, chapter 3 will focus on the public reception Banksy s works have received, both positive
and negative and how the debate between his work going against typical forms of visual persuasion is
successful and impactful.
The concept of propaganda is difficult to put into a simplified definition as it is quite complex and
involves many factors. As a result, many historians and theorists have developed their own definitions
of this concept. In 1948, American researcher Leonard Doob defined propaganda as the attempt to
affect the personalities and to control the behaviour of individuals towards desired ends (Glander
Timothy, 2000). German propagandist Joseph Goebbels characterized propaganda by stating that we
do not talk to say something, but to obtain a certain effect (Ellul,
