Until recently, I had no idea that there was a such thing as a Young Adult Librarian. I had assumed that
teaching would be the only job that would allow me to talk about books and share my love of books
with young adults; but then, one day I happened to stumble upon a blog ran by someone who was
sharing her experience as a Young Adult Librarian and I knew instantly that I had found what I wanted
to do with my life. At this point, I started looking around for ways to be involved with my university
library, just so I could have a taste of what it was like to work in a library setting. Since it is a
university library, I knew that my opportunity to deal with anything young adult would be pretty much
non existent, so I decided to just use the opportunity to learn whatever I possibly could about
librarianship. I spent the semester working with Collection Management and the Interlibrary Loan
office and I learned a little about the inner workings of those two areas, and a little about what it

I lean my head towards the window, my eyes desperately following the painted signs and the road. My
mother, who has an ability to drive for long periods of time, and I are on my way to my aunt s house.
As we drove my mind would envision the hours of hopscotch and jump rope with an old friend. An
hour or two later my mom and I would make it to her apartment complex in St. Cloud, Minnesota. As
my aunt and my mother conversate about our family and upcoming events, I would make my way to
the parking lot to find a young girl, who had short brown hair and LOTS of toys. I would always come
over to my aunt s apartment and find this young girl outside. As we would play one of us would
accidentally mention that our mothers had told us we were the prettiest girls in the world. We started
to argue on which one of us was prettier than the other. How can little girls who were best friends, all
of a sudden be arguing about vanity? Little did I know, that the buoyant world I had lived in for all

In Element 1, I will present some cases where deception is thought to be lying, and other cases where
deception is not thought to be lying. I will contend that, when deception is lying, it is immoral and I
will give reasons for why this is the case. After my presentation, I will take a look at some possible
criticisms of my arguments and then answer those criticisms. Then, I will present my conclusions.
In Element 2, I will contend that people for whatever reason choose to lie about things in order to
persuade others into thinking that the truth is on their side. Lying takes a group of actions or words
that are clearly false to the perpetrator to try to bait someone into thinking that it is truthful. When
deceptions are thought to be lies, it can be a very eerie situation because the person that was lied to did
not get complete or enough adequate information of what was told. Yes, what someone said may have
been truthful, but not all of the information was being told. The person receiving the information is
left without additional pieces to the story although he or she does not know this, which makes the
person assume that what you said was the end all be all to the situation. These situations can likely
equate to being a lie because of the information that was omitted. Once the person finds out that pieces
of information was left out or incomplete, they will feel like they were lied to. Because the rest of the

Although the majority of cross cultural research on emotion expression has examined facial
expressions as the primary indicator, evidence of cultural differences has also been found in emotion
