Red Azalea Summary
Red Azalea follows the author, Anchee Min, throughout her life during the Chinese Cultural
Revolution. As a child she was completely devoted to learning more about Mao and communism.
After being required to leave her home to work at Red Fire Farm, she is forced to face many
hardships and finds out a lot about herself and her country. Having to suppress her sexuality and
emotions, and being forced to do work she doesn t want to do, Anchee s beliefs begin to shift.
This memoir is well written and allows readers to learn about personal lives and the country of
Chinaduring its time as a communist state. The majority of the book takes place during Anchee s
life as a teen and throughout her early twenties. Born in 1957, Min was raised during the Chinese
Cultural Revolutionlead by communist Mao Zedong. She first began to realize major change
taking place in her life at the age of ten. Anchee states, In 1967...the police station was called a
revisionist mechanism and had been shut down by the revolutionaries...Mother was pushed,
crushed on the floor, and was slashed with scissors. The time period of which she lives greatly
influences her life and the rest of the story. Living under Mao s rule, children, including herself,
were often taught that having a revolutionary spirit was the only way to live. They were taught to
harass those who did not adore Mao and support his leadership. Growing up in a communist state
greatly affected her beliefs and the course of the rest of her

Torrent Freak Research
Today s digital knowledge has made it so easy to perform copyright infringement in order to create
pirated movies. This in turn has increased the amount of illegal digital movie distribution. It s so
easy these days to make perfect copies and then distribute it across global networks. Torrent Freak
research shows multiple copies of movies that are found online. Technology has made it more
tempting than ever to violate the copyrightlaws without breaking a sweat. Majority of Internetusers
think that if it is on the Internet, it s free. But they don t realize that even public display of
someone s work without proper permission is considered Copyright infringement. Displaying it on
a website, putting it on film or transmitting it to the public in any other way are all examples of
how movies are facing piracy issues daily. In spite of that piracy continues to grow at an
exponential speed. Moreover, movies that deal with copyright infringement has grown over the
years.
The seriousness of Copyright infringement was also brought to life by the hurt locker case. Voltage
pictures accused almost 25,000 BitTorrent users of illegally downloading or sharing the movie on
file sharing networks. According to Torrent Freak, If only 10,000 of the alleged infringers pay a

Fad Diets In Australia
Intro
Fad dieting is not an effective long term weight loss option, and in fact, it can be very harmful to
your health. The obesity in Australia is rising, with 63% of adults being classified overweight or
obese. In January, one of the leading New Year s Resolutions is to lose weight, and people often
embark on FAD diets in an attempt to lose weight quickly. Is this a good option for overall well
being and weight loss? The answer is no! The definition of a fad diet is a diet that promises quick
weight loss through what is usually an unhealthy and unbalanced diet.
Supporting Argument 1
FAD diets are harmful to your health because cutting out certain food groups results in a lack of
certain nutrients which are necessary for the body to function optimally. An example is the Paleo
diet, which excludes grains and dairy products. Grains are rich in fibre and protein, making them
good for digestion and keeping you feeling full. They also contain a variety of vitamins and
minerals in their bran, and a high supply of B vitamins and healthy fats. Grains are also thought to
help reduce the incidence of heart disease, diabetes and digestive issues. Dairy products are a
major source of calcium and vitamin D, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The side effects described above, combined with getting bored of the same food, often result in
people giving up the diet and going back to old bad habits, and therefore regaining weight rapidly.
Feelings of failure often set in, new fad diets are started and a pattern of yo yo dieting becomes a
reality. Short term weight loss may occur but inevitably, weight gain occurs in the long term. The
better option is to make healthier sustainable lifestyle choices. How many FAD diets do people
need to try before they realize that they don t last? How much money do people have to spend on
diet books and expensive food before they realize that it doesn t make a huge

My Introduction to the Legal Process Class Essay
On Tuesday the 28th of February our Introduction to the Legal Process class went to the Maine
Legislature and had the chance to meet some Representatives and Senators that we had contacted
previously. We had studied lobbying and how to effectively lobby a bill beforehand, and met with
the officials we had contacted individually. This is some information that could help you lobby a
bill in the Maine legislature. I was assigned four representatives and one senator to contact
beforehand, and it is essential to do this early. With the massive amount of emails and calls an
official gets in a day, it is easy to get lost in the crowd. Many legislators will not contact you back
due to their busy schedule. I only received responses from two of the... Show more content on

That means you need to research on the bill you are presenting, and why this bill was created. You
should also know the legislator you are lobbying to. One of my representatives, Gay Grant, was a co
sponsor on the Ocean Acidification I was presenting so she was more familiar with the bill than
my other representative. The other, Kim Monaghan Derrig, was on the Workforce and Job
committee so I had to tailor how I lobbied the bill to talk about how it would affect jobs in
Maine. Doing research on the person you are lobbying to can make your case stronger by
making it personal. It is also good to memorize the face of the official you are meeting so you
can find them in a crowd. I had studied the faces of my representatives before meeting them, but
I still didn t recognize Rep. Derrig until she came up to me and asked if she knew where she
could find Tyler amongst our group of students. Being prepared also means bringing the right
materials. Wearing formal clothing is usually required for entering political buildings, and it also
sets the tone for how serious you are about the time this person is setting aside for you and the
bill you are trying to present. In the Maine Legislature it is a little more lax, but you should still
dress respectfully when lobbying. Beyond clothes, bringing hard copies of the bill and an
informational page on the bill you are lobbying that gives the key points of

My Experience Of My Life In A Refugee Camp
The life in the refugee camp was so miserable that we had no hope for bright future. My parents

However, I had a self confident if I work hard and study well I will be able to do anything in life.
make a secure living for my whole family, but I was only a child I did not know anything about
what my life would be like when I grow up. Every time someone asks me what I want to become
when I grow up, I used to say Nurse without a second thought. My parents send me to camp

and Dzongkha subjects. We were provided a pencil, eraser, and five note books for each subject.
We were told we need to keep all the things that they provide for a whole year. I was fortunate
enough to get a basic education in camp because not all refugee gets to attend school. I was a very
talented student since childhood but due to lack of higher education, I would not be able to attend
college for further education.
My grandparents often recall their joyful life in Bhutan. My father has seven siblings, and mother

Research Paper On Wonder Woman
It s been a long wait, but the first ever live action adaptation of Wonder Woman is just about to
hit the theaters worldwide. Considering the character s long and varied history in the DC
Comics universe, it s a small wonder we re just getting to this now. If you re not a fan of the
comics, you d be forgiven for thinking Wonder Woman is just some lady with a magic lasso. The
upcoming movie should prove you wrong, however, and there are at least five good reasons for it:
1. Critical Reception
Pop quiz, hotshots: how many DCEU movies have been a hit with the critics? The correct answer
is none at least until a few days ago. As of right now, Wonder Woman is holding steadfast at 95%
at Rotten Tomatoes, with 105 of 112 reviews giving it a fresh ... Show more content on

Even in the little screentime she had, the Israeli actress managed to bring out the perfect
combination of power and mystery Wonder Woman is known for. And if the stories from her time
in the army are anything to go by, she should be able to handle the physical demands of the role
just fine.
3. Period Piece
Having World War I as the setting of Diana Prince s origin story is a bold choice, but we believe
it s likely to pay off. It helps that WWI is not often explored in movies, so the audiences haven t
had time to get sick of it yet. On a related note, this should prove to be a nice change of pace from
the all the modern day DCEU movies. You could draw some parallels with Captain America: The
First Avenger, but the two World Wars have less in common than you might think.
4. Patty Jenkins
It s still hard to believe it took Patty Jenkins 14 years to shoot her second feature film. She s been
keeping busy with some sporadic TV work, but her stellar debut Monster left us wanting to see a
whole lot more from her. Back in the day, she seemed like a moderately safe bet to direct Thor 2;
ultimately, however, she decided to abandon the project due to personal differences. These days,
she seems pretty happy with how everything s turned

The US Trial System Essay
When one thinks of trials a lot of questions come to mind. What is a trial? What is involved in a
trial? Who are the participants in a trial? Of all the participants how do they all contribute to the
trial, what are their duties? What are the aspects of a trial and how do the aspects affect the
fairness of the trial. How does our constitution contribute to a trial and how does it create fairness
to the system? Within the body of this paper I will educate the reader on the trial system and
answer any questions a person may have on the subject. I will use the research I have done to

Kuklin) Among all the duties of the judge he is there to act as a referee. He keeps everyone in the
courtroom in order. He explains to the jury the laws. After he hears the witnesses and all the other
evidence, he will take in considerations all the facts and make a decision based on his own
personal interpretations of the law. His powers will be shared with the jury. The jury or jurors are
randomly drawn from the court s geographical area typically from voter and motor vehicle
registration lists to evaluate evidence during trials and render verdicts. Jurors decide, according to
the evidence, whether the defendant is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of the charged crime.
Jurors are not supposed to decide legal questions, such as what evidence is admissible. And
jurors usually do not decide what sentence the defendant should receive in case of a conviction,
except in capital punishment cases. It is increasingly common for judges to involve jurors in the
questioning of witnesses. Before excusing witnesses, many judges invite jurors to submit written
questions. After reviewing the jurors proposed questions with attorneys from both sides, the
judge decides which questions (if any) to ask. Most cases don t involve juries. Juries are not

Infant Simulators Role In Reducing Teenage Pregnancy
Teenage pregnancy takes place when a female under the age of 20 falls pregnant.
Boonstra (2011) identified that moderate rates of teenage pregnancy occur in Australia with 43.7
pregnancies per 1000 teenage girls. This is a significant contemporary issue as there are larger risks
involved with teenage pregnancy including health, financial and social implications (Brinkman et
al, 2016), creating larger socio economic problems for young parents, their children and society
(Zhou et al, 2016). To reduce the numbers of teenage pregnancy and raise awareness various sex
education systems are placed to manage incidences of pregnancy.

Conkin The Traditional Family Farm Book Review
Over the last 90 years the American farming industry has changed drastically in terms of farming
techniques, advanced machinery, government farming policies, and chemical inputs. These
developments have revolutionized the agriculture industry but every adjustment can bring about
both positive and negative ramifications. Author and historian Paul K. Conkin gives a detailed
account of the transformative years of early American farm life spanning from the early 20th
century into the 21st century when increasing food prices rocked the nation and the early farm
laborers struggled to keep up with the changing industry demands. Farmers faced hardships during
The Great Depression which then fueled necessary changes in legislation that secured a farmer s...

Automobiles also gained popularity and traveling for supplies, medical care, or bartering became
a normal task. Going into town was once a necessity every so often became a privilege to those
that could afford the luxury of an automobile in place of horses. The transition from the traditional
household farm to a more modernized farm to keep up with the times was a drastic adjustment and
the changes could be felt across the nation. In Conkin s own words Unbeknownst to us at the time,
much what we took for granted would quickly become antiquated. Soon there would be no horses,
or none of the tools and skills that accompanied horse based agriculture. Soon it would become clear
that our farming community did not have the soil quality or the economies of scale to compete in
commercial agriculture.

Adversity In Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun
People constantly determine that hardships prepare them for an anomalous triumph and that
without adversity they will not have the strength to excel. However, in trying to achieve
adversity people damage their psychological well being, just like the Tuskegee Airmen who
faced racial discrimination for serving their country. Although this may be true, the Roman poet
Horace elucidates that Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous
circumstances would have lain dormant . This is often exemplified in A Raisin in the Sun and
through Cristian Mariano Deppeler. To initiate, if it wasn t for the hardships that adversity
exposes people to, then many would not see meaning in their life, and in some cases, end up
putting and end to it. For instance, the story of Cristian Mariano Deppeler, a social
communicator that is known today for his video on YouTube in which he shocked the world and
affirmed that he is not disabled . Even though the doctors said that Deppeler was going to be a

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, is a neurodegenerative disease associated with the
breakdown and loss of motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. Voluntary muscle control
degenerates until the body eventually loses function. To better understand how ALS works, the
medical terminology can first be translated into a more basic understanding. A meaning not, myo
meaning muscle, and trophic meaning nourishment or growth [source]. Due to the loss of motor
neurons, the muscle loses nourishment and atrophies, or wastes away. Lateral means that this
condition usually affects only one side of the body and sclerosis means hardening and buildup of

Reflection Paper On Probation
There was one day where I woke up feeling like if I was going to win the lottery and it gave me a
heads up that something good was going to just by the way I woke up. But at the time I was
doing badly, I was on probation trying to do good again. First I had to complete 10 hours of
community service so I can try to get off probation already , then I had to go pay a $350 fee
because the charges I had committed at Bartow by the court house , furthermore I had to complete
my community hours at my favorite church Saint Ann located in Haines city. I love that church so
much, I use to go every Sunday to church with my mom and dad so I didn t mind doing my hours
there. My goal was to try to do all those errands all in one day so I can show effort to my probation
officer Mrs. Terry and get released probation by next week . So the feeling on how the way I woke
up, I felt like I can accomplished everything in one day Next, I got up ready and hopped in the

Analysis Of Unwind By Neal Lassiter
Although the population of the world is upwards of seven billion people, society is still an
extremely unwelcoming place for people struggling with their lives. Important figures such as
Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., or Abraham Lincoln stood up for issues like slavery, peace, and
racism that no other person would care about. Even with the incredible advances they made in
humanity though, there are still an unbelievable amount of conflicts between races, gender, and
overall acceptance in today s world. People are idly standing by as the world crumbles away, but
some people such as social activists are trying to make a difference like Connor Lassiter. In
Unwind, by Neal Shusterman, the main protagonist, Connor Lassiter, was a disgrace to his
parents through his misbehaviour in school. He became an Unwind, who would be taken apart to
serve as replacement body parts along with many others his age. While many others were
accepting it as their fate, Connor fought back. He stood up to Unwinding himself and also brought
other Unwind s voices together to form a powerful stance. His will to simply exist empowered
other Unwinds and ultimately changed their society forever, saving thousands to Unwinds to come.
In the spur of the moment, Connor decides not to surrender to the police, but instead grabs a
hostage. Connor s whole life turns upside down as he becomes a criminal and goes on the run.

The National Hockey League ( Nhl ) Revenue Has Grown From...
From 2005/06 to 2014/15, the National Hockey League s (NHL) revenue has grown from $2.27
billion US to $3.98 billion US. A large portion of this is due to the fact that the world of hockey
is constantly changing in many aspects. The way it is played, the way we watch, the way it is
coached, and the way players are scouted and traded. Almost everything on the operations,
media, player, and fan experience side have gone through changes and alterations because of
technology. Technology has opened up a plethora of doors within the sport and has had such a
big impact on not just revenues but other areas as well. One of the largest affects come on the
fan experience and involvement side. Changes outside of actual gameplay such as this one are
often driven by revenue but are ultimately acted on by the current technology in today s digital
society. In order to find out the extent of these changes, three questions must be answered. How
has the viewing experience and accessibility changed for fans, how has the media and technology
affected fan engagement, and has today s digital society taken away from any of hockey s
tradition. Today s digital society is constantly affecting the NHL and world of professional hockey
s fan experience and involvement because of technological offerings and advancements used by
members of the industry in profit driven efforts. Convenience is a leading factor in today s business

A Reflection Of Observation In The Classroom Behavior
In my twenty hours of observation I have learned quite a bit about how a teacher does an ever
challenging job, which includes monitoring students behavior, making sure each and every
student is involved in an active learning environment, and creating a safe, yet creative classroom
environment. The teacher I observed was amazing at her job, and by watching as she interacted
with the students, I could see the impact that a teacher truly has on a student. I have even learned
that classroom organization can change how a student learns, and during my observation the
teacher shared with me that by organizing her classroom in a central facing manner, she was able
to draw attention to herself as she stood at the focal point in the classroom. This allowed the
teacher to draw the students attention to her and away from any distractions that may have arisen
in the classroom. I had also noticed how organized other material was in the classroom from
course related books to the classroom rules and behavior guidelines. The students seemed to
follow the rules better in this classroom with clearly labelled and organized behavior guidelines
and rules unlike other classrooms that I have observed in the past. One of the first things that I
noticed when I began my observation was that of the classroom atmosphere that the teacher had
created for the students. The teacher taught social studies and had setup her classroom with a
multitude of social studies related material. There was a large world history board that included a
detailed map of the world and two handmade house shields from the Middle Ages. There was also
pictures of United States Presidents including President Abraham Lincolnand George Washington.
My most favorite aspect of the classroom were the inspirational quotes that were put up around the
ceiling of the room, which included the Gettysburg Address and the famous We Can Do It! poster
from World War II. The students even noted that they enjoyed an American Dream board, which
had maps from the students current lesson in the book as well pictures of the main figures that
were discussed in class. The lesson that was being taught when I observed was that of the French
Indian War, and multiple maps of the Ohio

Psychological And Psychological Factors Of Terrorism
The ever evolving subject of terrorism and terrorists is the subject of significant study worldwide.
The psychological and behavioral factors involved in terrorism are one of the most studied issues.
It has implications across the board for both the detection and deterrence of terrorism. How
terrorists communicate and the influence that it plays in growing terroristic ideology, mission, and
goals are also of significant importance, as well.
There are many things can be seen in the psychology of terrorism. Unfortunately there is not good
science on psychological factors of terrorism; there are theories and educated opinions
(DeAngelis, 2009). The one overarching factor is the fear with which terrorism is based. By
definition, terrorism is acts that cause terror by one group on to another, usually for political goals
( Terrorism , n.d.). Why people suffer from these fears is related to their psychological behavior.
Terrorist activity can be described as fostering a sense of helplessness and hopelessness, in
demonstrating the incompetence of the authorities, destroying a sense of security and safety, and in
provoking inappropriate reactions from individuals and authorities. (Alexander Klein, 2005).
Terrorists themselves are affected by psychological behavior; their own and that of others around
them. They may even be affected by the behavior of victims and potential victims. Osama Bin
Laden has even been known to admit that in the terrorist organization Al Qaeda, his

How Warfare Techniques Have Changed The Construction Of A...
There are many Warfare methods created for a castle. For instance, there is the Trebuchet, there are
the battlements (Merlins and Embrasures), the catapults, and much more! I ll be telling you how
these warfare techniques have changed the construction of the castles!!
The first thing I will be telling you about is the Trebuchet, A trebuchet is a catapult like engine
which uses a swinging arm to throw a projectile at the enemy. It is used to throw rocks (Boulders),
dead animals and humans, fireballs, and much more things. Trebuchets were apart of the attacking
defending team of the castles. This means that this would cost money because the people in the
castle would need to get supplies. The reason the Trebuchets influenced castle construction is that
when the people of the castle new that the enemies would have the trebuchets they would need to
build higher walls so when things start to fly at the castle they would want to have something that
would block the flying obstacles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They look like mini/small walls that go up and down around all of the castle walls. The reasons
the Merlins and Embrasures are influenced construction is because when there was a war these
would act as little barriers for when archers would shoot, the defenders would duck because they
would not be hit by arrows, boulders, and more. This is why Merlin and Embrasures were
influenced for castle

Summary Of The Red Figure Volute Krater
The Red Figure Volute Krater was made in ca. 310 100 B.C by an unknown Arpi painter. This
mixing vessel was crafted in Apulia, a region near southern Italy. It was made out of ceramic and
was smoothly painted. The mixing vessel/vase is approximately half the height of the average
human, and approximately 20 inches in diameter, making it a rather large piece of art. It had a
solid base, hollowed our center and two handles on either side, for carrying and decoration. Red
Figure Volute Krater is a very intriguing artwork and includes two painted sides that depict
narratives. The artists use of detailed figures, movement, and composition create an emotional
narrative for the viewer of the Red Figure Volute Krater. The Red Figure Volute Krater is located

The British And French Armies
The British and French Armies adopted and modified this tactic as well to meet their battlefield
needs. They developed time standards based on terrain. Optimally, the artillery and infantry
should simultaneously advance approximately 100 yards every one to six minutes. Eventually
shell variants were used for concealment as well. Originally only shrapnel shells were used. As
the tactic progressed, artillery would fire smoke ahead of the high explosive rounds giving
ultimate cover to the advancing infantry (Griffith, 141). After these tactics were employed during
the battle in the Argonne forest, allied forces advanced quickly towards their objective and within
ten days had beaten the German Army into almost full retreat. Never before had the American or
allied forces fought a battle of such scale. However, once commanders that were not present at the
battle relinquished control to Generals on the ground, the battle took a turn. New tactics were
introduced, ill performing commanders were replaced, and Soldiers were given a chance to rest.
Those factors gave allied forces the means necessary to continue successfully in the battle in the
Argonne forest. During the Great War, the Army predominantly used the oldest of intelligence
techniques. Espionage was dangerous and often lead to the death of those soldiers and spies behind
enemy lines. The time to deliver important and relevant information to the front lines took time.
The first large scale use of Army radio intelligence

Ban government from using face recognition and other biometric technologies.
Sounds good, but it won t work. For one thing, the spycams are already here and Congress is
highly unlikely to pass a law forcing every city in the country to take down their cameras.
What s more, the ban everything approach ignores the technologies plain benefits. Any woman
who s had to walk through a deserted parking garage to her car knows why many people might
welcome cameras.
With many advances ahead, computer linked surveillance cameras can already identify crimes as
they occur, reduce false arrests and convictions and provide much better evidence than notoriously
unreliable witness testimony. Linked to biometric databases, the cameras can help prevent fraud,
find a lost child, and keep terrorists out of airports and pedophiles out of schools.
The logic here is specious just because the spycams are already here does not mean that they aren t
going away. Police surveillance cameras were installed in Times Square in the late 1960s, but
were taken down because they were judged to be cost ineffective: in 22 months of operation, they
led to the arrest of only 10 people, all for minor infractions.

Mythology Vs Greek Mythology
Throughout human history people around the world have looked upon the stars and pondered their
very existence, seeking answers for questions that seem as unanswerable to many: how did we get
here, what are we here for, what happens when we die? More often than not theses questions were
left unresolved and humanity was forced to find reason in their own existence. Humanity began to
look at the world around them for explanation, slowly creating stories that would become the
building blocks of religion. These stories or Myths became an extremely important part of cultures
all around the world, giving an explanation to questions that once seemed unanswerable.
Mythology is often viewed as stories that were only told for entertainment purposes, this could not
be farther from the truth. Although they were often used for entertainment purposes mythology in
its most basic since is a religious story, this understandably confuses many individuals. This is
because mythology is broken down into two key sections, dead mythology and living mythology.
Dead mythology is what most individuals think of when hearing the term mythology today, these
are stories of the past that were once held as truth but are no longer practiced. While living
mythology refers to the religious stories we see in our day to day lives. While the Greek and
Norse mythology is considered dead mythology Abrahamic text such as the Bible, Torah, Karan all
fit the definition of living mythology. This is because theses

My Papa s Waltz Literary Devices
The poem My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke, introduces a child romping and waltzing around
with his father. Within the poem, the author emphasizes most on admiration and combines mainly
imagery and symbols to show the bond between the son and the father. In addition, a mixture of
diction and tone is used to further describe the points within the poem and characterization of the
father. Even though the narrator tells the reader about the negative events throughout the poem, the
son keeps waltzing with his father and clings on to him towards the end as his father waltzes him to
sleep.
Throughout the poem, the speaker uses first person to refer to himself as the son and refers the
father as the second person. In the first stanza, the author uses imagery to introduce his father into
the poem. The narrator mentions that his father is so drunken, his breath could make a small boy
dizzy (lines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While waltzing around, the speaker uses a hyperbole in lines 13 14 you beat time on my head,
with hands caked hard by dirt, which indicates more good than bad because the father is keeping
time on the son s head. These lines give a positive tone because it shows that the son was having
tons of fun and mentions in lines 15 16 that he clings on to his father shirt as the father waltzed him
to bed.
From the diction of the poem, this is a memory from the son of the father because he uses a more
advanced vocabulary, such as waltzed and countenance. In addition, the tense of the poem supports
the idea of the poem being a memory from the son. The identified symbol of this poem is waltzing,
because it represents the relationship between son and the father. In the beginning of the poem such
waltzing was not easy for the son but throughout the duration of the poem, the son continues which
shows his admiration and respect for his

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome And The Future Generation
FAS better known as Fetal Alcohol Syndrome can be prevented in any case. Women who openly
drink alcohol or take drugs while knowing they are pregnant should in fact be found as a
criminal. A law was put into effect this previous July in Tennessee stating that in the case you
took drugs or drank while pregnant, you will be charged as a criminal and will be thrown into
jail. Merrill Miller (2014) wrote the article What Are Mothers to Do? How a New Tennessee Law
Criminalizes Pregnancyand Promotes Religion. This article further explains the law of
criminalizing women who openly use drugs including alcohol while pregnant. This law was put
into effect to show how narcotics are becoming an issue and our future generation is now paying
for it. Tennessee decided to put up a law trying to protect tax payers and the future generation from
facing issues with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. A case was showed where a 26 year old woman
Mallory Loyola was the first charged with this law after traces of methamphetamine were found
in her urine shortly after having her child. She was arrested and thrown in jail not ever spending
a day with her new born baby. Fetal Alcohol syndrome is not the only thing women have to
worry about while on drugs. If they let Mallory go home with her child while on meth, it could
easily affect the home life and still destroy the child s life without it being in their system. Case

I Ask For Peace Of Spirit And Prosperity By Sandra Cisneros
Min Zhan Lu and Bruce Horner are English professors at the University of Louisville, who are co
authors of Writing Conventions. In this textbook, Lu and Horner define genre characteristics as,
setting, aims, relations to other genres, medium, and effect on self and life (Lu Horner 69). They
also discuss tinkering with genreitself. Genre is the base model which is expected to take a
particular form. For example in the collection of writings, Little Miracles, Kept Promises, author
Sandra Cisneros has eloquently expressed how the diversity of ideas themes within the several
writings can all be thought of as the single genre of prayers. One of the prayers that adheres to the
expected genre is, ... I ask for peace of spirit and prosperity (Cisneros 271). When the idea of prayer
is discussed, a person thinks of a positive respectful conversation between a person and a higher
power that can also ask for the health and wellbeing of people in their daily lives, while
refraining from overzealous material demands. Therefore asking for peace of spirit and
prosperity would adhere to the guidelines of prayer as a single genre. Changing the expected
genre can be beneficial, but also can change the aims or effect of the genre making the purpose
unsuccessful. The majority of the writings by Cisneros follow the common standard for the genre
of prayer. On the other hand many of the writings tinker with the genre of prayer. Lu and Horner
describe tinkering with a genre as

Fluid Balance Essay
Case 1
1. The first way in which this patient s fluid balance is altered is by the presence of vomiting
noted by the emergency department. Vomiting can cause a significant loss of electrolytes as well.
The patient also has a fever of 102.3, which has probably caused some heat release by sweating
leading to fluid loss. The doctor notes the patient is breathing quickly which indicates he may be
losing fluid through hyperventilation. The large quantity of alcohol consumed by this patient also
contributes to the alteration of fluid balance by inhibiting the pituitary gland from secreting anti
diuretic hormone (ADH) which acts directly on the kidneys to reabsorb water. When ADH levels

Cause And Effects Of Climate Change
The Living Planet report calculates that humans are using 30% more resources than the Earth can
replenish each year (Jowit, 2008). Despite this shocking information, the scientific community
around the world are not focus only on a future lack of resources, but also with the possible cause
and effects of climate change. Both topics are directly related with the future of humanlife. Since
people need the nature to provide them food, fresh water and material to produce their daily thing,
the lack of resources is a reality. In addition, according to the article The Consequences of Climate
Change published by NASA scientists had predicted loos of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and
longer, more intense heat waves as some the effects of climate change by 2100 (NASA, n.d.). Thus,
it is clear that there is an agreement that both issues will seriously affect the future of humanity.
However, the scientific community has doubts about which of these themes is crucial for the
survival of human beings. Taking into account how quickly the natural resources have been
consumed, the effects will be felt earlier than the climate change outcomes. When it comes to the
environment, in this specific case about climate change and the depletion of natural resources,
reflection on how these issues relate to and influence human life is inevitable. In the case of climate

Essay on The Messianic Idea in Judaism
The Messianic Idea in Judaism
Belief in the eventual coming of the moshiach is a basic and fundamental part of traditional
Judaism. It is part of Rambam s 13 Principles of Faith, the minimum requirements of Jewish
belief. In the Shemoneh Esrei prayer, recited three times daily, we pray for all of the elements of
the coming of the moshiach: ingathering of the exiles; restoration of the religious courts of justice;
an end of wickedness, sin and heresy; reward to the righteous; rebuilding of Jerusalem; restoration
of the line of King David; and restoration of Temple service.
Modern scholars suggest that the messianic concept was introduced later in the history of Judaism,
during the age of the prophets. They note that the messianic ... Show more content on

The Moshiach
The moshiach will be a great political leader descended from King David (Jeremiah 23:5). The
moshiach is often referred to as moshiach ben David (moshiach, son of David). He will be well
versed in Jewish law, and observant of its commandments. (Isaiah 11:2 5) He will be a charismatic
leader, inspiring others to follow his example. He will be a great military leader, who will win
battles for Israel. He will be a great judge, who makes righteous decisions (Jeremiah 33:15). But
above all, he will be a human being, not a god, demi god or other supernatural being.
It has been said that in every generation, a person is born with the potential to be the moshiach. If
the time is right for the messianic age within that person s lifetime, then that person will be the
moshiach. But if that person dies before he completes the mission of the moshiach, then that person
is not the moshiach.
When Will the Moshiach Come?
There are a wide variety of opinions on the subject of when the moshiach will come. Some of
Judaism s greatest minds have cursed those who try to predict the time of the moshiach s coming,
because errors in such predictions could cause people to lose faith in the messianic idea or in
Judaism itself. This actually happened in the 17th century, when Shabbatai Tzvi

Geico s Core Values Of Integrity, Service, And Growth

ways. Since I believe that each truly goes hand in hand with the other, I feel it s important to
gain an understanding of each individually as a way to gain the ability to practice each one.
Gaining an understanding of each individually also helps one to show others how they can
choose to take on these values, too. Among values that one should hold close to them, integrity,
service, and growth are among the most important, to me. In my everyday life, I exemplify
integrity by consistently following my moral or ethical convictions and doing the right thing in
all circumstances. To me, having integrity means that I am are true to myself and would do
nothing that demeans or dishonors me. I keep your promises even if it takes extra effort. I work
when I am supposed to and save socializing, snacking, searching the Internet and personal phone

valuing service. I valueit because not only have I been on the receiving end of service, but also

Who Is Lily s Objectification In The House Of Mirth
Despite their untruthfulness, they still make a large impact on the lives of the aristocracy.
People treat them like truth, which causes them to almost become a truth themselves. The myths
of the aristocracy make a large impact on the lives they define, usually in a negative way. They
make their victims feel confined to these myths even if they are positive. They create an
environment where everyone treats these people like the myths, which they inhabit. The myth
becomes more human than the actual person. The myths arise from one small fact then
speculation and assumption come and transform the fib into reality. One of the most significant
myths in the novel is the idea that Lily is an object. It follows her where ever she goes in her
society and warps people s actions directed towards her. In The House of Mirth by Edith

The Controversy Of Cloning And Genetic Engineering Essay
Introduction
God and Nature first made us what we are, and then out of our own created genius we make
ourselves what we want to be... Let the sky and God be our limit and Eternity our measurement
Marcus Garvey (1887 1940).
Cloning and genetically modifying humans is now more attainable than ever due to strides made
by science. With a relatively short history, cloningand genetic engineering have been a new
concept for many people in society with the first proof of cloning being dolly the sheep, the first
successful clone born by the somatic cell nuclear transfer procedure [1]. Cloning over the years
has evolved and now could be used to someday help people requiring organ transplants, recover
from traumatic injuries and aid infertile couples with its reproductive possibilities [4].
On the other hand, genetic engineering can also be a great benefit as through gene therapy, genetic
diseases can be prevented and quite possibly being wiped from existence. Another benefit of
genetic engineering is that it can also allow infertile couples to have a baby but to do this would
require the genetic information of a surrogate alongside the couple s genetic information [12]. This
could result in many complications which is why there is a great controversy on this matter.
Although cloning is known by a plethora of people, whereas the minority of the population knows
of genetic engineering which brings up the question, what is genetic engineering?
Simply put, genetic engineering is the

Abstract
The objective of this experiment was to test the effects of bacteria using a treated hand and an
unwashed hand. Two plates of agar and a hand is used to retrieve the bacteria and then placed in a
temperature where they can survive. Different types of bacteria are affected by the environment
that slow down or increase the growth of these prokaryotes. When testing this certain type of

or untreated. In addition, agar is made from subunits of galactose that contain cell walls from
other species such as the red algae. For this reason the agar plate is commonly used for culturing
bacteria is since the bacteria doesn t eat up the plate instead they grow rapidly on there. The table
reflects the results of the class reinforcing the theory that a treated hand will contain less bacteria
than that of an unwashed hand. A few numbers collected proved the opposite where the treated had
more bacteria than the unwashed hand. Although most of the data correlated to the hypothesis,
some were not because of many unknown factors such as not swiping correctly, or the student
swiped too fast not leaving behind enough bacteria to be delivered to the agar plate or during the
hand washing there was not specific way of washing them. When I plugged in my data the results
did not match with the majority of the class because there were very few bacteria colonies in my
untreated and many more on the treated hand; again, there are many reasons why the experiment
did not turn out the way the hypothesis was originally planned. However my results did not match
the hypothesis, I still agree with the original

Comparison Of The Article Dignity And Dreams
Introduction The question of concern in the article, Dignity and Dreams (Sykes, 2015), was
whether the Earned Income Tax Credit [EITC] provided families with enough support to
progress financially just over the poverty line. While This was an important focus there was a
The emphasis on how the family respectfully and discreetly received the money was also an
active factor. Likewise, in the second article, Bonus or Rebate? (Epley, 2006), there was a
concern about a consumer s reluctant choice to spend a check depending on its label. They
specifically tracked spending patterns of consumers receiving either a Rebate (a loss) check or a
bonus (a gain) check and documented whether they spent a larger portion of the check or saved
more of it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Or would the recipients spend a surplus of money if thought to be a bonus check? Sykes (2015)
had found that families felt a relief from financial stress when it came to receiving their yearly
lump sum from the government. They were able to pay back many of their debts, just as a
responsible family should. This allowed them to enhance the amount of consumption they were
given leeway for. Such as toys or brand name foods. For families in Welfare who were given
limited room to grow, EITC left enough money to lift dreams off the ground and making it
possible for families to invest in their futures. All of these factors made it easier for the families
to feel a sense of citizenship. Social inclusion plays a larger factor than once thought. Using
government programs like SNAP (food stamps) ostracized people in public areas; making it
difficult to feel proud or in a sense normal . I strongly believe that this article found what they set
out to look for. The results clearly show that EITC gave low wage families a sense of dignity, but
since the population interviewed and tracked was so small it s difficult to believe that all families
in the same program live entirely the same. The lurking variables consisted of past programs
impeding on the behavior of present recipients in the EITC program. These past programs have
altered the way of thinking for some people. The

For many decades, many have tried to obtain a perfect mixture of a healthy state of mind in
relation to a healthy body. In order to do this, people exercise their bodies along with their
minds. However, overly exercising can lead to consequences. As a result, a balance needs to be
met. When displaying too many hard core views, the mixture of a healthy mind and a healthy
body disappears. Therefore, it is very important to obtain a balance with strict rules along with
some imagination. When looking at facts, it is always one sided, but when using an imagination,
the possibilities become endless and can be looked upon as positive. In the novel Hard Times, there
are characters that display a strict view on facts rather than imagination. The... Show more content

Another example of how Thomas Gradgrind s teachings have failed is Louisa. Louisa sacrifices
herself as a wife to Josiah Bounderby in order to give Tom more freedom and to make Thomas
Gradgrind happy. Ultimately, she is very unhappy and just a way to get her family into Josiah
Bounderby s business. As a result of two poor outcomes of factual learning failures, it is safe to
conclude that the teachings of Thomas Gradgrind are at fault. Opposed to Thomas Gradgrind is
Josiah Bounderby. He does not believe in education and doesn t think that it is useless to be
teaching. The conflict that Thomas Gradgrind faces with Josiah Bounderby is that they are both
different representations on how to educate their children. Although they both share the views
of factual knowledge, the twists in their views are how important education is. Thomas
Gradgrind is extremely strict with the rules and cannot stray from his set standards. However,
Josiah Bounderby says that education is to be tumbled out of doors, necks and crops and out
upon the shortest allowance of everything except blows (Dickens 314). It is evident to say that
Josiah Bounderby sees a strict education as unnecessary and does not think it should exist.
Josiah Bounderby owns a bank and a factory and has a good living. He has high political standards
and is considered a very powerful man. Most people look up to Josiah Bounderby with high regard
since he is wealthy. Due to his self made lies, he thinks

from a different world, someone like a ghost. For them the speaker stands out for apparently all
wrong reasons and she is an outsider to them, in their midst she is an alien. So the speaker sits
scratching throughout her lonely nights. It can be interpreted as she is scratching a desperate
plea a message on a piece of paper. But if we infer the deeper meaning it can also mean that she
is scratching because she is feeling uneasy, she is scratching over the scab of division and the
label that she is a minority. She is scratching over the scab of people treating her minority over
her skin colour. A page doesn t fight back , according to me this is the most powerful line in the
whole poem. By page here she is referring to a minority person like herself. The speaker hopes
that whatever she has spoken so far shoots through the thick layer of stereotypes the community
has set and the noise of repression of the community. So whole carrying on with this life of hers,
the speaker comes across a person who is stranger to her yet there is something about the person
that makes her feel like she knows him or her. The face of the person is pure and simple without

races. The Europeans had different religious, political and regional views which caused created
issues. Moreover, Native Americans and Africans had many groups with their own languages and

The Furry Newcomer Essays
It was a warm March afternoon. I lay curled up on the couch completely engrossed in the works
of Oscar Wilde. Suddenly a red rubber ball landed on my lap. I looked up to see the nine year old
mischief maker grinning at me. The sun rays played on his dark haired body. The streaks of
yellow seemed as though someone had sprinkled gold all over him. He wetted his nose and stared
at me intensely. His piercing dark coffee colored eyes could make anyone feel uncomfortable.
Marshal, the brilliant German Shepherd was trying to hypnotize me.
Marshal came in to our family when he was a mere two month old puppy. Since then, he has been
my companion and best friend. Growing up he was the most mischievous dog one could ever

So, I commenced on my ingenious plan to persuade mom.
It did not take me long to coax he, though she only agreed to have a look at the puppies. In my
heart I knew that half the battle was won! That same evening we headed to the pet store. It was
lined with countless aquariums housing a variety of fish. My eyes searched for the dogs but I
could see none. The store manager informed us that they kept them in the other room. They had
only one Labrador puppy available then. I waited patiently while they fetched the puppy.
However, my patience soon ran out and I started wandering around the store. The fish seem to
follow my every move; it was as if they could sense my eagerness.
In a few minutes a man emerged from the other room with the most adorable little wonder of
nature nestled in his hands. The little guy shook his cream colored body and looked up at us with
his bead like eyes. In the instant that our eyes met, I could see the joy and exhilaration in them. As
soon as the man set him down, the puppy ran towards us stumbling on the sleek floor. He started
jumping around with joy while I patted him. The way he bounced around made him seem more
like a little bunny than a puppy. The little pup had succeeded in winning over mom s heart. I was
jumping with joy when I heard her discussing the paperwork with the manager.
Unfortunately, the earliest we could take him home was the next morning. The pup was sad

Exploring The Role Of Hearing Loss In The 1940 s
Hearing serves a crucial benefit for understanding the world around us. During the 1940 s, Dr.
Ramsdell realized that hearing serves four crucial function; symbolically we are informed or
entertained, aesthetically hearing is naturally pleasing, warningly we are alerted or prepared,
primitively we are aware of our surroundings [1]. The earis typically divided into three sections,
used to simplify the hearing process. The first section, or the outer ear, is composed of the auricle
(skin covered cartilage), the auditory canal, and the tympanic membrane (the outer layer of the
eardrum). The middle ear section contains the eardrum, tympanic cavity, and the ossicles. These
ossicles are three small bones often referred to as malleus (hammer),... Show more content on

According to HearingLoss.org, more one in every five Americans suffer from some form of
hearing loss, that s about 50 million Americans. By the age of 65, 1/3 of all Americans suffer
from hearing loss [5]. Because of the large size of affected patients, developing and improving
hearing correctional methods is an ever growing and advancing field of study. While there exist
several solutions to a wide variety hearing problems, we are going to discuss Middle Ear
Replacements in this report. Middle Ear Implants and replacements aim to correct sensorineural
hearing issues. Often times, patients will elect to receive a middle ear implant instead of dealing
with the expense and hassle of traditional hearing aids. Recently, the FDA has approved a middle
ear transducer implant called the Vibrant Sound bridge. The Sound bridge operates by connecting a
Floating Mass Transducer to the incus (anvil) bone. This transducer is connected to external audio
processor that is discretely attached externally above the ear. When the external processor receives
a soundwave, a signal is transmitted to the internal transducer. The transducer then vibrates in such
a way that mimics natural middle ear amplifications

Income Inequalities In America
In the United States, income inequality is obvious and widespread. Presidential candidates realize
income inequality will be a major point of any presidential campaign. The major civil rights issue
of today is income inequality. Such a large misdistribution of wealth has likened modern
economics to slavery. Lower income workers are forced to work longer hours at a stagnant wage to
maintain consumption. On the other hand, to say that the super rich are beyond fairly compensated
is an understatement. The top 10 percent of wage earners received 48.2 percent of total earnings in
2012. The super rich make the rules of the game (laws) favor the rich. Those with large wealth

Advances in technology has resulted in the best competitors being overly compensated in
comparison to their competition. Financial markets are more efficient than ever with the help of
advanced computing technology. Capital flows unapologetically from the hands of the semi
successful to the very successful. The rapid pace of progress in information technology has
increased the demand for the highly skilled and educated. This is due to the complexity of
information technology jobs. Technology continues to replace workers. Low skilled job
opportunities such as cashiers are being replaced by self check outs and bank tellers are being
replaced by ATMs. Other jobs that required multiple humans now require a few machines and a
single person to maintain them. As a result, income distribution favored the highly educated. Due
to rising tuition costs, only families that could afford to send their children to college did so. High
pay leads affordable college for kids, which leads to high pay. This cycle likely exacerbates the
income inequality problem, as it stretches privilege among

The Castro family has held power in Cuba since the 1960 s. Cuba being ruled by Fidel Castrountil

Cuban politics, and the justification of evil.
While still idolized by many, Che was far from a hero or a just man. Through the annals of
history there have always been false idols who have abused power. The individuals who lead these

was a leader of the Cuban Revolution who still represents hope and anti oppression for many.

Computer Security As A Critical Problem For Computer Systems
ABSTRACT Over the past decade computer networks have rapid growth, but the computer security
became a critical problem for computer systems. Thus in the recent years various soft computing
technique based methods were proposed to detects the growth of intrusion. Also many researchers
have reported that the large set of pattern classifications and machine learning algorithms are trained
and testing is made on the knowledge discovery data intrusion detection dataset is unsuccessful in
finding the remote to local attacks and user to root attacks. Moreover Hyperbolic Hopfield Neural
Network(HHNN) based Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) detection stability, detection ratio,
particularly low frequent attacks are still required to be improved. Thus this paper proposes a new
method known as K Medoids HNNN using the technique HHNN and K Medoids clustering. This
system achieves the higher intrusion detection rate, detection stability and less false positive rate.
At first the proposed system implements the K Medoids clustering technique on the various training
subsets. Afterwards a mono HHNN model is trained using the different training subsets to detect the
intrusion. The experimental results shows the K Medoids HHNN approach achieve better results
rather than other framework.

EA Framework Research Paper
Introduction
An Enterprise Architecture Framework (EAF) provides principles and practices for creating and
using the architecture description of a system. Frameworks are used to help organizations answer
specific question. Enterprise Architecture framework importance is de emphasized deliberately
sometimes. Without a framework though, it is impossible to have foreseeable and repeatable
outcomes. There are many EA frameworks out there. However, the four leading ones are The
Zachman Framework for Enterprise Architecture, The Open Group Architecture Framework
(TOFAF), Federal Enterprise Architecture, and Gartner Enterprise... Show more content on

5. When(Time) describes when the function should be performed.
6. Why(Motivation) describes the end goals, constraints, rules and regulations.
Example of Zachman Framework:
Pros of Zachman Framework
The Zachman framework is the most popular framework in the area of EA. It is a basis for some
other frameworks such as, FEAF(Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework). You can hardly find
written material on any EA framework without a reference to the Zachman framework. The
framework is generic in that it can be used to classify the descriptive representations of any
physical object as well as conceptual objects such as enterprises. It is also recursive in that it can be
used to analyze the architectural composition of itself. Although the framework will carry the
relation from one column to the other, it is still a fundamentally structural representation of the
enterprise and not a flow representation. Another of the strengths of the Zachman Framework is that
it explicitly shows a comprehensive set of views that can be addressed by enterprise architecture.
Cons of Zachman Framework
Zachman Framework can lead to a documentation heavy approach. .Each of the 36 cells in the
Framework handles a different question that has to be documented. It can also lead to a process
heavy approach to development . The Zachman Framework isn t well accepted within the
development community and few developers even seem to have

Critical Appreciation Of Poetry
Poetry comes up very often in our lives whether we realize it or not. Poetry has managed to leave a
significant impact on my life. Since I ve been a kid, I ve always defined poetry as a bunch of
words on a page. The essay, Tide of Voices: Why Poetry Matters Now, and the two poems, How To
Eat a Poem by Eve Merriam and, A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert combined to expand my
understanding of the analysis of poetry; my ability to judge poetry s meaning; and poetry s actual
definition. The essay, Tide of Voices: Why Poetry Matters Now helped to expand my
understanding of the poem: A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert. It also reinforced my belief
that analysis is needed to gain full enjoyment of poetry. The first time around, it may be hazy, but,
the second time around, the clouds will part and the sun will shine through. Similarly, the first
time you read something and you don t understand it, you go back and reread it. The poem, A
Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert made no sense whatsoever when I read it the first time. I
thought it was supposed to help ameliorate my definition of poetry but it did no such thing. Sorrow
everywhere. Slaughter everywhere... praise the Devil... After reading such things, I found the poem
to be useless in enhancing my definition of poetry. I was so confused with the mention of blood,
slaughter, starvation, poverty, and sickness when I thought the poem was supposed to have an
influence on my understanding of poetry. The

Free Trade In America
Problem: Working class Americans experience difficulties in finding work as labor intensive
jobs are moved abroad. At the same time free trade is beneficial for the global economy as a whole.
Here we can see a clash in interests as the interests of those in developing countries are protected
as well by the WTO and free tradetends to be beneficial for the economy as a whole. However,
the problem is that 20% of the prime male working population between the ages of 25 54 are
unemployed and this number is around 35% of those who don t have a high school diploma. For
marginalized groups such as African American males the teen unemployment is over 40% and that
of young black men from the ages of 16 24 is over 30%.

As tariffs would disadvantage free international trade it is important to focus on how much is

unemployment rate. Countries such as Germany have been using strategies such as job sharing and
short time work to encourage employers to cut the hours instead of laying off their employees. This
method has never been implemented in the US and could be quite successful.
Training is another factor that could reduce the unemployment rate of low skilled workers.
Training, however, is mostly offered by employers and not by the government. Often training is
also offered to the most skilled and educated workers opposed to low skilled workers. Furthermore,
the amount of money spent on training by the government only entails 0,4% of the American GDP,

This in turn has increased the amount of illegal digital movie distribution. It s so easy these days to make perfect copies and then distribute it across global networks. Torrent Freak research shows multiple copies of movies that are found online. Technology has made it more tempting than ever to violate the copyrightlaws without breaking a sweat. Majority of Internetusers think that if it is on the Internet, it s free. But they don t realize that even public display of someone s work without proper permission is considered Copyright infringement. In spite of that piracy continues to grow at an exponential speed. Moreover, movies that deal with copyright infringement has grown over the years. • 5. Fad Diets In Australia Intro Fad dieting is not an effective long term weight loss option, and in fact, it can be very harmful to your health. The obesity in Australia is rising, with 63% of adults being classified overweight or obese. In January, one of the leading New Year s Resolutions is to lose weight, and people often embark on FAD diets in an attempt to lose weight quickly. Is this a good option for overall well being and weight loss? The answer is no! The definition of a fad diet is a diet that promises quick weight loss through what is usually an unhealthy and unbalanced diet. Supporting Argument 1 FAD diets are harmful to your health because cutting out certain food groups results in a lack of certain nutrients which are necessary for the body to function optimally. An example is the Paleo diet, which excludes grains and dairy products. Grains are rich in fibre and protein, making them good for digestion and keeping you feeling full. They also contain a variety of vitamins and minerals in their bran, and a high supply of B vitamins and healthy fats. Grains are also thought to help reduce the incidence of heart disease, diabetes and digestive issues. Dairy products are a major source of calcium and vitamin D, which is ... The side effects described above, combined with getting bored of the same food, often result in people giving up the diet and going back to old bad habits, and therefore regaining weight rapidly. Feelings of failure often set in, new fad diets are started and a pattern of yo yo dieting becomes a reality. Short term weight loss may occur but inevitably, weight gain occurs in the long term. The better option is to make healthier sustainable lifestyle choices. How many FAD diets do people need to try before they realize that they don t last? How much money do people have to spend on diet books and expensive food before they realize that it doesn t make a huge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. My Introduction to the Legal Process Class Essay On Tuesday the 28th of February our Introduction to the Legal Process class went to the Maine Legislature and had the chance to meet some Representatives and Senators that we had contacted previously. We had studied lobbying and how to effectively lobby a bill beforehand, and met with the officials we had contacted individually. This is some information that could help you lobby a bill in the Maine legislature. I was assigned four representatives and one senator to contact beforehand, and it is essential to do this early. With the massive amount of emails and calls an official gets in a day, it is easy to get lost in the crowd. Many legislators will not contact you back due to their busy schedule. I only received responses from two of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That means you need to research on the bill you are presenting, and why this bill was created. You should also know the legislator you are lobbying to. One of my representatives, Gay Grant, was a co sponsor on the Ocean Acidification I was presenting so she was more familiar with the bill than my other representative. The other, Kim Monaghan Derrig, was on the Workforce and Job committee so I had to tailor how I lobbied the bill to talk about how it would affect jobs in Maine. Doing research on the person you are lobbying to can make your case stronger by making it personal. It is also good to memorize the face of the official you are meeting so you can find them in a crowd. I had studied the faces of my representatives before meeting them, but I still didn t recognize Rep. Derrig until she came up to me and asked if she knew where she could find Tyler amongst our group of students. Being prepared also means bringing the right materials. Wearing formal clothing is usually required for entering political buildings, and it also sets the tone for how serious you are about the time this person is setting aside for you and the bill you are trying to present. In the Maine Legislature it is a little more lax, but you should still dress respectfully when lobbying. Beyond clothes, bringing hard copies of the bill and an informational page on the bill you are lobbying that gives the key points of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Research Paper On Wonder Woman It s been a long wait, but the first ever live action adaptation of Wonder Woman is just about to hit the theaters worldwide. Considering the character s long and varied history in the DC Comics universe, it s a small wonder we re just getting to this now. If you re not a fan of the comics, you d be forgiven for thinking Wonder Woman is just some lady with a magic lasso. The upcoming movie should prove you wrong, however, and there are at least five good reasons for it: 1. Critical Reception Pop quiz, hotshots: how many DCEU movies have been a hit with the critics? The correct answer is none at least until a few days ago. As of right now, Wonder Woman is holding steadfast at 95% at Rotten Tomatoes, with 105 of 112 reviews giving it a fresh ... And if the stories from her time in the army are anything to go by, she should be able to handle the physical demands of the role just fine. 3. Period Piece Having World War I as the setting of Diana Prince s origin story is a bold choice, but we believe it s likely to pay off. It helps that WWI is not often explored in movies, so the audiences haven t had time to get sick of it yet. On a related note, this should prove to be a nice change of pace from the all the modern day DCEU movies. You could draw some parallels with Captain America: The First Avenger, but the two World Wars have less in common than you might think. 4. Patty Jenkins It s still hard to believe it took Patty Jenkins 14 years to shoot her second feature film. She s been keeping busy with some sporadic TV work, but her stellar debut Monster left us wanting to see a whole lot more from her. Back in the day, she seemed like a moderately safe bet to direct Thor 2; ultimately, however, she decided to abandon the project due to personal differences. Of all the participants how do they all contribute to the trial, what are their duties? What are the aspects of a trial and how do the aspects affect the fairness of the trial. How does our constitution contribute to a trial and how does it create fairness to the system? Within the body of this paper I will educate the reader on the trial system and answer any questions a person may have on the subject. After he hears the witnesses and all the other evidence, he will take in considerations all the facts and make a decision based on his own personal interpretations of the law. His powers will be shared with the jury. The jury or jurors are randomly drawn from the court s geographical area typically from voter and motor vehicle registration lists to evaluate evidence during trials and render verdicts. Jurors decide, according to the evidence, whether the defendant is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of the charged crime. Jurors are not supposed to decide legal questions, such as what evidence is admissible. And jurors usually do not decide what sentence the defendant should receive in case of a conviction, except in capital punishment cases. It is increasingly common for judges to involve jurors in the questioning of witnesses. Before excusing witnesses, many judges invite jurors to submit written questions. After reviewing the jurors proposed questions with attorneys from both sides, the judge decides which questions (if any) to ask. Most cases don t involve juries. Boonstra (2011) identified that moderate rates of teenage pregnancy occur in Australia with 43.7 pregnancies per 1000 teenage girls. This is a significant contemporary issue as there are larger risks involved with teenage pregnancy including health, financial and social implications (Brinkman et al, 2016), creating larger socio economic problems for young parents, their children and society (Zhou et al, 2016). The transition from the traditional household farm to a more modernized farm to keep up with the times was a drastic adjustment and the changes could be felt across the nation. In Conkin s own words Unbeknownst to us at the time, much what we took for granted would quickly become antiquated. Soon there would be no horses, or none of the tools and skills that accompanied horse based agriculture. • 12. Adversity In Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun People constantly determine that hardships prepare them for an anomalous triumph and that without adversity they will not have the strength to excel. However, in trying to achieve adversity people damage their psychological well being, just like the Tuskegee Airmen who faced racial discrimination for serving their country. Although this may be true, the Roman poet Horace elucidates that Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant . This is often exemplified in A Raisin in the Sun and through Cristian Mariano Deppeler. To initiate, if it wasn t for the hardships that adversity exposes people to, then many would not see meaning in their life, and in some cases, end up putting and end to it. For instance, the story of Cristian Mariano Deppeler, a social communicator that is known today for his video on YouTube in which he shocked the world and affirmed that he is not disabled . Voluntary muscle control degenerates until the body eventually loses function. To better understand how ALS works, the medical terminology can first be translated into a more basic understanding. A meaning not, myo meaning muscle, and trophic meaning nourishment or growth [source]. Due to the loss of motor neurons, the muscle loses nourishment and atrophies, or wastes away. • 16. Analysis Of Unwind By Neal Lassiter Although the population of the world is upwards of seven billion people, society is still an extremely unwelcoming place for people struggling with their lives. Important figures such as Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., or Abraham Lincoln stood up for issues like slavery, peace, and racism that no other person would care about. Even with the incredible advances they made in humanity though, there are still an unbelievable amount of conflicts between races, gender, and overall acceptance in today s world. People are idly standing by as the world crumbles away, but some people such as social activists are trying to make a difference like Connor Lassiter. In Unwind, by Neal Shusterman, the main protagonist, Connor Lassiter, was a disgrace to his parents through his misbehaviour in school. He became an Unwind, who would be taken apart to serve as replacement body parts along with many others his age. While many others were accepting it as their fate, Connor fought back. He stood up to Unwinding himself and also brought other Unwind s voices together to form a powerful stance. His will to simply exist empowered other Unwinds and ultimately changed their society forever, saving thousands to Unwinds to come. A large portion of this is due to the fact that the world of hockey is constantly changing in many aspects. The way it is played, the way we watch, the way it is coached, and the way players are scouted and traded. Almost everything on the operations, media, player, and fan experience side have gone through changes and alterations because of technology. Technology has opened up a plethora of doors within the sport and has had such a big impact on not just revenues but other areas as well. One of the largest affects come on the fan experience and involvement side. Changes outside of actual gameplay such as this one are often driven by revenue but are ultimately acted on by the current technology in today s digital society. In order to find out the extent of these changes, three questions must be answered. How has the viewing experience and accessibility changed for fans, how has the media and technology affected fan engagement, and has today s digital society taken away from any of hockey s tradition. • 18. A Reflection Of Observation In The Classroom Behavior In my twenty hours of observation I have learned quite a bit about how a teacher does an ever challenging job, which includes monitoring students behavior, making sure each and every student is involved in an active learning environment, and creating a safe, yet creative classroom environment. The teacher I observed was amazing at her job, and by watching as she interacted with the students, I could see the impact that a teacher truly has on a student. I have even learned that classroom organization can change how a student learns, and during my observation the teacher shared with me that by organizing her classroom in a central facing manner, she was able to draw attention to herself as she stood at the focal point in the classroom. This allowed the teacher to draw the students attention to her and away from any distractions that may have arisen in the classroom. I had also noticed how organized other material was in the classroom from course related books to the classroom rules and behavior guidelines. The students seemed to follow the rules better in this classroom with clearly labelled and organized behavior guidelines and rules unlike other classrooms that I have observed in the past. One of the first things that I noticed when I began my observation was that of the classroom atmosphere that the teacher had created for the students. The teacher taught social studies and had setup her classroom with a multitude of social studies related material. There was a large world history board that included a detailed map of the world and two handmade house shields from the Middle Ages. There was also pictures of United States Presidents including President Abraham Lincolnand George Washington. My most favorite aspect of the classroom were the inspirational quotes that were put up around the ceiling of the room, which included the Gettysburg Address and the famous We Can Do It! poster from World War II. The students even noted that they enjoyed an American Dream board, which had maps from the students current lesson in the book as well pictures of the main figures that were discussed in class. • 19. Psychological And Psychological Factors Of Terrorism The ever evolving subject of terrorism and terrorists is the subject of significant study worldwide. The psychological and behavioral factors involved in terrorism are one of the most studied issues. It has implications across the board for both the detection and deterrence of terrorism. How terrorists communicate and the influence that it plays in growing terroristic ideology, mission, and goals are also of significant importance, as well. There are many things can be seen in the psychology of terrorism. Unfortunately there is not good science on psychological factors of terrorism; there are theories and educated opinions (DeAngelis, 2009). The one overarching factor is the fear with which terrorism is based. By definition, terrorism is acts that cause terror by one group on to another, usually for political goals ( Terrorism , n.d.). Why people suffer from these fears is related to their psychological behavior. Terrorist activity can be described as fostering a sense of helplessness and hopelessness, in demonstrating the incompetence of the authorities, destroying a sense of security and safety, and in provoking inappropriate reactions from individuals and authorities. (Alexander Klein, 2005). Terrorists themselves are affected by psychological behavior; their own and that of others around them. They may even be affected by the behavior of victims and potential victims. Osama Bin Laden has even been known to admit that in the terrorist organization Al Qaeda, his ... For instance, there is the Trebuchet, there are the battlements (Merlins and Embrasures), the catapults, and much more! I ll be telling you how these warfare techniques have changed the construction of the castles!! The first thing I will be telling you about is the Trebuchet, A trebuchet is a catapult like engine which uses a swinging arm to throw a projectile at the enemy. It is used to throw rocks (Boulders), dead animals and humans, fireballs, and much more things. Trebuchets were apart of the attacking defending team of the castles. This means that this would cost money because the people in the castle would need to get supplies. The reason the Trebuchets influenced castle construction is that when the people of the castle new that the enemies would have the trebuchets they would need to build higher walls so when things start to fly at the castle they would want to have something that would block the flying obstacles. ... • 22. The British And French Armies The British and French Armies adopted and modified this tactic as well to meet their battlefield needs. They developed time standards based on terrain. Optimally, the artillery and infantry should simultaneously advance approximately 100 yards every one to six minutes. Eventually shell variants were used for concealment as well. Originally only shrapnel shells were used. As the tactic progressed, artillery would fire smoke ahead of the high explosive rounds giving ultimate cover to the advancing infantry (Griffith, 141). After these tactics were employed during the battle in the Argonne forest, allied forces advanced quickly towards their objective and within ten days had beaten the German Army into almost full retreat. Never before had the American or allied forces fought a battle of such scale. However, once commanders that were not present at the battle relinquished control to Generals on the ground, the battle took a turn. New tactics were introduced, ill performing commanders were replaced, and Soldiers were given a chance to rest. Those factors gave allied forces the means necessary to continue successfully in the battle in the Argonne forest. During the Great War, the Army predominantly used the oldest of intelligence techniques. Espionage was dangerous and often lead to the death of those soldiers and spies behind enemy lines. • 24. Mythology Vs Greek Mythology Throughout human history people around the world have looked upon the stars and pondered their very existence, seeking answers for questions that seem as unanswerable to many: how did we get here, what are we here for, what happens when we die? More often than not theses questions were left unresolved and humanity was forced to find reason in their own existence. Humanity began to look at the world around them for explanation, slowly creating stories that would become the building blocks of religion. These stories or Myths became an extremely important part of cultures all around the world, giving an explanation to questions that once seemed unanswerable. Mythology is often viewed as stories that were only told for entertainment purposes, this could not be farther from the truth. Although they were often used for entertainment purposes mythology in its most basic since is a religious story, this understandably confuses many individuals. This is because mythology is broken down into two key sections, dead mythology and living mythology. Dead mythology is what most individuals think of when hearing the term mythology today, these are stories of the past that were once held as truth but are no longer practiced. While living mythology refers to the religious stories we see in our day to day lives. While the Greek and Norse mythology is considered dead mythology Abrahamic text such as the Bible, Torah, Karan all fit the definition of living mythology. This is because theses ... From the diction of the poem, this is a memory from the son of the father because he uses a more advanced vocabulary, such as waltzed and countenance. In addition, the tense of the poem supports the idea of the poem being a memory from the son. In this textbook, Lu and Horner define genre characteristics as, setting, aims, relations to other genres, medium, and effect on self and life (Lu Horner 69). They also discuss tinkering with genreitself. Genre is the base model which is expected to take a particular form. For example in the collection of writings, Little Miracles, Kept Promises, author Sandra Cisneros has eloquently expressed how the diversity of ideas themes within the several writings can all be thought of as the single genre of prayers. One of the prayers that adheres to the expected genre is, ... I ask for peace of spirit and prosperity (Cisneros 271). When the idea of prayer is discussed, a person thinks of a positive respectful conversation between a person and a higher power that can also ask for the health and wellbeing of people in their daily lives, while refraining from overzealous material demands. Therefore asking for peace of spirit and prosperity would adhere to the guidelines of prayer as a single genre. Changing the expected genre can be beneficial, but also can change the aims or effect of the genre making the purpose unsuccessful. The majority of the writings by Cisneros follow the common standard for the genre of prayer. On the other hand many of the writings tinker with the genre of prayer. • 33. Essay on The Messianic Idea in Judaism The Messianic Idea in Judaism Belief in the eventual coming of the moshiach is a basic and fundamental part of traditional Judaism. It is part of Rambam s 13 Principles of Faith, the minimum requirements of Jewish belief. In the Shemoneh Esrei prayer, recited three times daily, we pray for all of the elements of the coming of the moshiach: ingathering of the exiles; restoration of the religious courts of justice; an end of wickedness, sin and heresy; reward to the righteous; rebuilding of Jerusalem; restoration of the line of King David; and restoration of Temple service. Modern scholars suggest that the messianic concept was introduced later in the history of Judaism, during the age of the prophets. They note that the messianic ... He will be a great judge, who makes righteous decisions (Jeremiah 33:15). But above all, he will be a human being, not a god, demi god or other supernatural being. It has been said that in every generation, a person is born with the potential to be the moshiach. If the time is right for the messianic age within that person s lifetime, then that person will be the moshiach. But if that person dies before he completes the mission of the moshiach, then that person is not the moshiach. When Will the Moshiach Come? There are a wide variety of opinions on the subject of when the moshiach will come. Some of Judaism s greatest minds have cursed those who try to predict the time of the moshiach s coming, because errors in such predictions could cause people to lose faith in the messianic idea or in Judaism itself. Since I believe that each truly goes hand in hand with the other, I feel it s important to gain an understanding of each individually as a way to gain the ability to practice each one. Gaining an understanding of each individually also helps one to show others how they can choose to take on these values, too. People treat them like truth, which causes them to almost become a truth themselves. The myths of the aristocracy make a large impact on the lives they define, usually in a negative way. They make their victims feel confined to these myths even if they are positive. They create an environment where everyone treats these people like the myths, which they inhabit. The myth becomes more human than the actual person. The myths arise from one small fact then speculation and assumption come and transform the fib into reality. One of the most significant myths in the novel is the idea that Lily is an object. It follows her where ever she goes in her society and warps people s actions directed towards her. Let the sky and God be our limit and Eternity our measurement Marcus Garvey (1887 1940). Cloning and genetically modifying humans is now more attainable than ever due to strides made by science. With a relatively short history, cloningand genetic engineering have been a new concept for many people in society with the first proof of cloning being dolly the sheep, the first successful clone born by the somatic cell nuclear transfer procedure [1]. Cloning over the years has evolved and now could be used to someday help people requiring organ transplants, recover from traumatic injuries and aid infertile couples with its reproductive possibilities [4]. On the other hand, genetic engineering can also be a great benefit as through gene therapy, genetic diseases can be prevented and quite possibly being wiped from existence. Another benefit of genetic engineering is that it can also allow infertile couples to have a baby but to do this would require the genetic information of a surrogate alongside the couple s genetic information [12]. This could result in many complications which is why there is a great controversy on this matter. Although cloning is known by a plethora of people, whereas the minority of the population knows of genetic engineering which brings up the question, what is genetic engineering? Treated Hand Name: Laura Torres Biology 1407 P Abstract The objective of this experiment was to test the effects of bacteria using a treated hand and an unwashed hand. Two plates of agar and a hand is used to retrieve the bacteria and then placed in a temperature where they can survive. Different types of bacteria are affected by the environment that slow down or increase the growth of these prokaryotes. When testing this certain type of bacteria the warm temperature caused it to grow exceptionally fast comparted to the room temperature. Bacteria are single celled microbes. The cell structure is simpler than that of other organisms as there is no nucleus or membrane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The data provided by the table supports the hypothesis; therefore the hypothesis can be accepted. The hypothesis states that the untreated hand is the one that contained larger amount of bacteria grown. The reason this is true is because bacteria can be found in environments that are unclean or untreated. In addition, agar is made from subunits of galactose that contain cell walls from other species such as the red algae. For this reason the agar plate is commonly used for culturing bacteria is since the bacteria doesn t eat up the plate instead they grow rapidly on there. The table reflects the results of the class reinforcing the theory that a treated hand will contain less bacteria than that of an unwashed hand. A few numbers collected proved the opposite where the treated had more bacteria than the unwashed hand. Although most of the data correlated to the hypothesis, some were not because of many unknown factors such as not swiping correctly, or the student swiped too fast not leaving behind enough bacteria to be delivered to the agar plate or during the hand washing there was not specific way of washing them. When I plugged in my data the results did not match with the majority of the class because there were very few bacteria colonies in my untreated and many more on the treated hand; again, there are many reasons why the experiment did not turn out the way the hypothesis was originally planned. However my results did not match the hypothesis, I still agree with the original ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While This was an important focus there was a The emphasis on how the family respectfully and discreetly received the money was also an active factor. Likewise, in the second article, Bonus or Rebate? (Epley, 2006), there was a concern about a consumer s reluctant choice to spend a check depending on its label. Sykes (2015) had found that families felt a relief from financial stress when it came to receiving their yearly lump sum from the government. They were able to pay back many of their debts, just as a responsible family should. This allowed them to enhance the amount of consumption they were given leeway for. Such as toys or brand name foods. For families in Welfare who were given limited room to grow, EITC left enough money to lift dreams off the ground and making it possible for families to invest in their futures. All of these factors made it easier for the families to feel a sense of citizenship. Social inclusion plays a larger factor than once thought. Using government programs like SNAP (food stamps) ostracized people in public areas; making it difficult to feel proud or in a sense normal . I strongly believe that this article found what they set out to look for. The results clearly show that EITC gave low wage families a sense of dignity, but since the population interviewed and tracked was so small it s difficult to believe that all families in the same program live entirely the same. The lurking variables consisted of past programs impeding on the behavior of present recipients in the EITC program. These past programs have altered the way of thinking for some people. The ... Moreover Hyperbolic Hopfield Neural Network(HHNN) based Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) detection stability, detection ratio, particularly low frequent attacks are still required to be improved. Thus this paper proposes a new method known as K Medoids HNNN using the technique HHNN and K Medoids clustering. This system achieves the higher intrusion detection rate, detection stability and less false positive rate. At first the proposed system implements the K Medoids clustering technique on the various training subsets. Although the framework will carry the relation from one column to the other, it is still a fundamentally structural representation of the enterprise and not a flow representation. • 54. Critical Appreciation Of Poetry Poetry comes up very often in our lives whether we realize it or not. Poetry has managed to leave a significant impact on my life. Since I ve been a kid, I ve always defined poetry as a bunch of words on a page. The essay, Tide of Voices: Why Poetry Matters Now, and the two poems, How To Eat a Poem by Eve Merriam and, A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert combined to expand my understanding of the analysis of poetry; my ability to judge poetry s meaning; and poetry s actual definition. The essay, Tide of Voices: Why Poetry Matters Now helped to expand my understanding of the poem: A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert. It also reinforced my belief that analysis is needed to gain full enjoyment of poetry. The first time around, it may be hazy, but, the second time around, the clouds will part and the sun will shine through. For marginalized groups such as African American males the teen unemployment is over 40% and that of young black men from the ages of 16 24 is over 30%. As tariffs would disadvantage free international trade it is important to focus on how much is possible regarding the WTO restrictions on barriers and tariffs. The US might follow the course that Western European nations follow in decreasing the unemployment rate. Countries such as Germany have been using strategies such as job sharing and short time work to encourage employers to cut the hours instead of laying off their employees. This method has never been implemented in the US and could be quite successful. Training is another factor that could reduce the unemployment rate of low skilled workers. Training, however, is mostly offered by employers and not by the government. Often training is also offered to the most skilled and educated workers opposed to low skilled workers. Furthermore, the amount of money spent on training by the government only entails 0,4% of the American GDP, whereas, it is more than 10 times as high for countries such as Denmark, Germany and the ...
