Corporal Punishment And Its Effect On School Children
Every effort is made to distribute our findings so that all of the public cannot ignore the wholesale
infliction of pain and suffering onto our school children, and the role paddling schools play in teaching
our children that physically aggressive and coercive resolutions of conflict are legitimate. Contributing
to the problem of violence by making children feel rejected and isolated, corporal punishment is
unsafe in and of itself, but its discriminate application may be co incident with problems unique to
racial and gender identity and esteem, as well as academic and social confidence and competence.
Through familiarity, or the result of apathy or biased reasoning, people apparently can become
accustomed to disproportionality. Most of us seem to accept as legitimate the percentages of
involvement in retributive punishment that would be, in the opinion of this author, the most
astounding overrepresentations. These corporal punishment figures and their proportions are not
secreted away, outside of public view. Yet they seem to lack sufficient general interest to sustain
public concern over the issue. Through generations of exposure, it seems that we casually accept the
presumption that any penalty imposed by our institutions must, therefore, fit an offense for which that
penalty is just. This is the conclusion that we believe the fellow students who are exposed to paddlings
draw: if one of society s representatives of authority is striking someone, then he or she

Example Of Rapunzel Alternate Ending
Rapunzel grew up pretty normal, as normal as as you could for being locked away from the outside
world. Never being allowed to step a foot outside, let alone being allowed to venture down to the
hospital mother Gothel worked at. All the young girl knew as the apartment she shared with Mother
Gothel. She familiarized herself rather quickly with the layout of the apartment when she got old
enough to be left alone. Learning every nook and cranny of the place, the only thing she couldn t
figure out was how to escape the locked door and make her way down to the hospital to see her
mother.
The older she grew the less time Gothel spent with her. Each time she left the apartment, she would be
gone longer and longer, only coming back when she need a bone marrow transplant. Something the
young blond hate more than anything in the world. You d think that someone who grew up getting
them every month like clock work would have grown used to them, but no. She hated it and would
probably hate it for the rest of her life. The only reason she didn t put up a big fight about it was
because her mother needed the transplant to stay healthy. She didn t want to be ... Show more content

Not once, but twice. Today is my birthday. She nearly shouted at her mother. It s my 18th birthday,
which means I can go outside. She spoke. Coming to a stop she began jumping up and down in place.
Rapunzels mother on the other hand was not so thrilled with the fact, a panicked look appeared on her
face but quickly vanished. No, Rapunzel. Gothel s slender hand reached out, grabbing hold of the
bouncing girl to hold her still. You can not leave, the world is far too dangerous for a girl like yourself.
Gothel spoke with a hiss, her fingers tightening around Rapunzel s shoulders. You are far to naive for
this world. She tried her best to sound like a worried mother. Which worked. Rapunzel uttered out a
sigh, her head dropping to the

The Current Status Of The U.s. Economy
Despite the common assertion that all math is inherently difficult, statistics is rooted in simple
mathematical concepts. Descriptive statistics, as depicted by author Charles Wheelan in Naked
Statistics: Stripping the Dread from the Data, is a way to summarize raw data in order to make
immense data sets more manageable and understandable (2013). As Wheelan points out, everything
from presidential elections to baseball games can be summarized using statistics (2013). One of the
most prevalent uses of statistical analysis is to summarize data in order to reflect the health of the U.S.
economy, specifically through gross domestic product (GDP). Wheelan touches on the subject of how
statistics can be used in conjunction with economics; however, there is much more he does not
mention. The health of the U.S. economy is imperative to every American. It dictates whether it is a
good time to splurge on a pricey vacation, invest in a new company, or save for the future. The only
way to truly understand the current status of the U.S. economy is by being able to interpret statistical
analyses accurately, which may be trickier than it appears. Just like any other topic, it starts with the
basics (mean, median, etc.), but Wheelan soon makes it apparent that things become a bit more
complicated when one looks past the fundamentals of statistics (2013). Interpreting statistical analyses
is more than just being able to read charts and graphs. Descriptive statistics is rooted in simplicity;

The Pros And Cons Of Bolam Test
Typically, a defendant cannot escape liability in negligence simply by arguing that they followed
common practice: Neglect of duty does not cease by repetition to be neglect of duty. However, there is
one important exception to this rule. The court faces wide latitude to professionals, acting in their
professional capacity, to determine the standards by which they are to be judge. In cases where the
defendant has a special skill or competence, (that is, a skill that the reasonable man ordinarily does not
have) and the circumstances are such that they are required to exercise that skills or competence, the
courts have developed a different approach. In such cases, the actions of the defendant are judged
against those of the ordinarily skilled man professing to exercise that skill, the so called Bolam test.
Bolam test has been adopted for decades in various cases. One of the recent cases includes the case of
Middleton (by his Father and Litigation Friend, Gavin Middleton) v Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust, the
claimant brought a claim for damages for clinical negligence from the defendant NHS Trust. The
claimant suffered damage to the nerves due to shoulder dystocia. He has faced significant difficulties
in daily life. The claimant is keen in sports however, it was the specialist view that the claimant was at

US National Public Debt Essay
The national debt is the result of a state s borrowing from its population, from foreign governments, or
from international institutions such as the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Public debts tend to be large scale credit operations and are contracted on a national scale by central
governments and on a lesser scale by provincial, regional, district, and municipal administrative
bodies. In the U.S., public debts are also contracted by the states and by local governments, primarily
for public works.
Kinds of Debt
National public debts are contracted chiefly through the flotation of interest paying loans, in the form
of bonds, bills, or notes. Historically, these loans have been undertaken to raise money for wars ...

Although government loans are for the most part not secured by physical assets, they are regarded in
law as contracts carrying an obligation on the part of the debtor to repay. Nevertheless, governments,
when hard pressed during economic crises or as a result of political upheavals, have sometimes
repudiated their public debts in whole or in part. In many cases, also, a government to whom another
is in debt may agree to forgive the debt or reschedule its payment over a longer period.
History
In earlier times debts contracted by heads of state had the legal status of personal debt; public debt
emerged as a systematic element in a country s economy when regular sources of income became
available to provide funds to repay loans, a monetary system became fully formed, and an organized
money market came into operation. The first examples of public debt surfaced in the late 17th century
in Europe and became more prevalent with the rise of the modern state and the banking and credit
system that grew out of the Industrial Revolution.
Today, the finances involved in contracting and redeeming the public debt of a country are a sizable
proportion of its government budget. As the money for redemption of the public debt is raised
principally through taxation, the size of the national debt is a factor in determining taxation rates.

Gender Impact On Class And Gender
Effect of Class and Gender Do class and gender affect how individuals act or behave? Society has
evolved throughout the years and with that evolution, the people have separated themselves by factors
such as class and gender. This separation started many centuries ago and made a large appearance in
the Great Depression and Civil Rights Movement. Along with this division of people, actions and
behaviors seem to have been paired with certain classifications of people. In prior eras, women were
seen as fragile and not earners due to needing to stay at home and take care of children. On the
contrary, men were seen as masculine and earned a decent amount of money from working all day
long. Even though genders evolved into how they are now with women working alongside men, the
separation is still visible. Women are still fighting to get paid the same amount as men, resulting in a
certain behavior based on the gender. This behavior is one where women try to get equal pay through
comparable worth instead of just staying quiet like women used to. The factors of class and gender
cause a difference in an individual s actions and behavior in the ways of not socializing with certain
types of people, creating stereotypes, and behaving in a way to fit the norms of the specific class or
gender. There are many different articles written that can help describe how socialization, generalized
ideas, and standards cause individuals in different genders and classes to act in a certain way. A few of
the most important are Post Princess Models of Gender: The New Man in Disney/Pixar by Gillam and
Wooden, Seeing and Making Culture: Representing the Poor by hooks, and Girls Bodies, Girls Selves:
Body Image, Identity, and Sexuality by Lipkin. All of these articles have aspects that point towards the
fact that different reason cause individuals to perform their everyday activities in a certain way. Gillam
and Wooden explain in their article that new films produced by Disney and Pixar have changed the
idea of masculinity from one of the past to one that accepts the more traditional femininity. Hooks
article portrays how she personally was told she was unable to go to college because of her poverty
level and when she did go to

Animal Farm Symbolism Essay
Popular TV Series such as The Walking Dead , or games like The Last of Us tend to delve into the
total lack of social order at the destruction of civilisation as they know it, awhile impending evil
fictional forces rally against the heroes. Most of the time, these evil plights are a separate from the
humans themselves, by either altering their mindset by force, or otherwise. Rarely is the plight caused
by normal humans. But when the rules and morals of civilisation as we know it, are stripped past its
foundations; how well do humans change their ruling and social structure to suit? George Orwell s

William Golding s stance in Lord of the Flies implies that humans will often succumb to their dark
and primal desires, and very rarely to their civilised ones (seeing only Ralph and Piggy considered
their civilised mannerisms) (Green, 2016). Psychologists theorise about a Tripartite or three aspects of
the mind. ID which is a humans most primal desires; and the Super Ego which is the ethical values
that person believes to be right and wrong. These two facets combine to the third, which is referred to
as Ego (Conscious mind) (McLeod, 2016). Golding started to believe that humans inherent desire is
savagely based (Green, 2016). There was a Beastie on the island with the boys, in which all boys
became frightened of. The Beastie was an imagining of the boys inspired by the body of a dead fighter
pilot in the trees suspended by his parachute. As the boys became less inclined to follow rules and go
hunting, they saw the Beastie more and more often. The Beastie finally manifested into a physical
being as the Lord of the Flies for the boy Simon, through the form of a pig s head. This Beastie was
the metaphor for the savagery in the boy s minds their ID facet and only Ralph, Piggy and Simon
could see past this to their Super Ego (civilised) mindset. One can also apply this mindset directly to
the characters

Fate s Punishment For Athens
Fate s Punishment for Athens The Landmark Thucydides is a history book on the Peloponnesian War
written by an Athenian historian and general named Thucydides. Throughout the book, Thucydides
recounts the war and tells of the many actions of his mother land Athens. In several of his descriptions
Athens could be viewed as arrogant especially towards their accomplishments in war. He also tells of
a terrible crime that Athens commits that could be described as genocide. Thucydides also describes
several simpleminded mistakes that were made that crippled Athens in the end and could have been
prevented with more through thinking. Despite being powerful and dominant on the battlefield the
Athenians suffer crippling defeat in the end. The arrogance, cruelty, and foolishness that Athens
displayed brought fate down on Athens and caused their defeat in the Peloponnesian War. Athens
displayed their arrogance multiple times throughout the war. During a battle at Pylos Sparta attempted
to make peace with Athens through a truce. When offered the truce, Athens rejects it thinking that The
treaty would be ready for them whenever they chose to make it . (Landmark Thucydides. Book 4;
4.21, Pg.425). Athens had the audacity to think that Sparta would just wait for them to decide when
they were done fighting which made them seem obnoxiously proud. Another time where Athens
shows how arrogant they are occurs before the conference with the colony of Melos. Thucydides talks
of the colony

The Articles Of Confederation Impact On Federalism
The Articles of Confederation was the first constitution of the United States. They were written during
the revolutionary war to create a more unified government, and to establish what the national
government could and could not do. The Articles let each state keep sovereignty, freedom, and
independence, and created a very weak central government. For example, Congress could not regulate
commerce or impose taxes. The impact that the Articles of Confederation had on federalism for the
next few years was: the federal government had very few powers, and most of the authority remained
in control of each individual state. The Elastic Clause is a statement in the first article of the
Constitution. Also known as the Necessary and Proper Clause, it says that Congress has the power to
make all laws which shall be necessary and proper. This means that Congress has implied powers to
carry out laws that have been expressed in the constitution. One example of a time that the elastic
clause has been used was when the federal government created a national bank. This shifted more of
the power from the states to the federal government by giving it implied powers. With the elastic
clause, the federal government creates more of its own laws. The Supremacy Clause is a statement in
the US Constitution that says that the laws of the United States... shall be the supreme law of the land.
This was created to resolve any disputes among laws of the states and of the nation. The supremacy

Why The Fraser River And Cariboo Gold Rushes
Many people, when the subject of the Fraser River and Cariboo gold rushes comes up, immediately
think of what wealth the miners must have obtained. Though this is a common belief, few miners
during the gold rushes actually were successful for a number of different reasons; the location and
geography, people failing to claim stakes, the amount of people there, and the types of people, and the
cost of living balanced out the amount of gold that they were finding.
One of the main reasons why few miners were successful during the Fraser River and Caribou Gold
Rushes was the location, geography, and weather. When news rapidly spread of an abundance of gold
in the Fraser River, as many as 10 000 miners came up from California in March 1858. When ... Show

Many sources say that they were reckless, lawless, lazy, drunken and uncivilized miners (cite this
source). A good half of them were gamblers and thieves. A worse set of cut throats and scoundrels
were never assembled anywhere else, mentioned a book (name the book, page reference, and
paragraph). Given the fact that they are lazy and drunk, this may imply that they were not in fit shape
to look for gold in the first place and may have not kept the gold that they found. As well, if they were
indeed lazy, they would not have worked hard for the gold, thus not being successful in striking it rich.
Negligence was also a big factor. It was reported that as miners came to sights, tens of thousands
failed to stake claims because they were either too late and all they claims were gone or they were just
ignorant of it. The amount of people was also definitely a setback. When news first reached people of
a gold rush, thousands upon thousands flocked to the Fraser River and to Fort Victoria. Thirty
thousand miners arrived at Fort Victoria, flooding the shores. Another 30 000 came up from
California, entire towns clearing out as news spread. This would have made mining for gold very
competitive. Fights would often breakout over spots on the steamboats that went up river. Many were
so impatient that they made their own boats. What were tiny [communities] of less than three hundred
people [became] a booming city of thousands overnight. Another reason why the kinds of people and
the amount would have been a factor to as why so few were successful is because thieves were also
very common among them. With so many people in one mining camp, it would be impossible to know
who stole what. A lot of gold may have been stolen from those who had earned it. People often slept
with knives or guns under their pillow in case they were looted or

Veertebrae Body
Vertebrae, while differing slightly based on their region in the spinal column, typically consist of a
body and vertebral arch. Anterior to the arch, the body (1) is the thick, broad part of the bone that
serves to support and bear weight. Between each individual body is the intervertebral disk space. The
vertebral arch is made of several parts. Pedicles (2) extend posteriorly from the body and curves to the
laminae (2). These two parts encircle the vertebral foramen with the body. Above and below the
pedicles are the superior and inferior vertebral notch, respectively, and they form the intervertebral
foramina when stacked. Zygopophyseal joints are formed by the superior and inferior articular
processes. At the junctions of the pedicle and lamina, the transverse processes (2) protrude laterally.
The spinous process (1) is the most posterior part of the vertebrae and projects from the junction of the
left and right laminae. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Disadvantages Of Newspaper Article
In research, there is a wide variety of ways in which researchers and journalists go about presenting
their, or others, findings. Because many of these findings have the possibility to have significant
impact on the general populace, it is important to know the context from which this information is
being published, as many findings may be influenced by source, representation, bias, outside funding
or goals, and many other extraneous factors. In this case, the Lillienfeld et al (2014) article and The
Telegraph article are both presented in vastly differing ways, both with their own advantages and
disadvantages. These two articles bring to the forefront many differences in the ways that scholarly
and popular media formats address findings. The article by Lillienfeld et al (2014) serves as a great
example of the general advantages and disadvantages held by scholarly articles. One of the most
pronounce advantages of scholarly articles is that they often go into more depth in their definitions
and explanations of the variables and findings of their research. In the Lillienfeld et al (2014) article, a
great example of this is in their goal statement near the beginning of the article. They very clearly
explain that there is very little research into the implications of [psychopathic] traits for everyday
functioning with large amounts of citation, leading into their goal, in which they try to determine the

Schindler s List Analysis
Schindlers list so we just watched the schindlers list. The movie in all was great. At the beginning, I

he was way different at the beginning of the movie. Defenitly had a different perspective of him of
first, he only really focused on himself and getting money. A bit selfish. I think deep down he was a
good man at heart. He defenitly dealed with things a lot better than others did. The other man was
horrible he had no empathy what so ever for other people. Not even children. Sometimes there was no
reason behind killing innocent people, he did it simply because he felt like it. There was a time when
schindler actually tried to prevent him from killing people without thinking. The bad guy said that
killing meant he had power, but schindler said that having the ability too kill and not doing so but
forgive is real power. The bad guy didnt really get it at first and just kind of laughed at him. The next

Organic Of Organic Food Industry
2. Introduction
Organic foods are foods that are processed without the use of synthetic materials such as pesticides,
antibiotics and chemical fertilizers. National Organic Standards Board defined organic agriculture as;
An ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological
cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off farm inputs and on management
practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony (Organic Trade Association, 2014).
Organic food industry is a heavily regulated industry which complies with organic standards set by
governments and international organizations (Statista, 2014). Inspections of farm fields, record
keeping and periodic testing of soil and water are required to ensure that growers of organic foods are
meeting the standards which have been set by these organizations.
Although organic production reflects similar cost structure with conventional production in terms of
growing, harvesting, transportation and storage; total costs are higher in organic production due to
more labour and management intensive process in order to adapt these strict regulations. This causes
organic foods become more expensive than conventional foods. However, even more expensive,
global demand for organic foods has been growing substantially over the last decades. There are
several different reasons behind this rapid increase in consumer demand for organic foods. Food
safety concerns linked to

Darkness and Decay Essay example
(p.141 p.143) How does Eugenides capture the atmosphere of darkness and decay in this extract and
why is this significant in the novel as a whole?
In the successful novel the virgin suicides, Jeffrey Eugenide s uses a range of devices to conceptualize
what s going on inside the Lisbon s house and capture the sense of isolation and how he personifies
their house and the environment surrounding it. This causes the reader to actually feel the atmosphere
of darkness and picture the decay, and the light flickering out, inside the Lisbon s house and within the
girl s themselves.

The neighborhood boys are shocked by this revelation because for them, the physical world, and
physical sex, is what is most important. To us it shows, Lux s knowledge of sex implies a concomitant
knowledge of death and darkness.
Pathetic fallacy is used to represent the inner feelings of the girls so that their whole neighborhood can
fell their suffering The sky grew darker, and the light abandoned the daytime . This could also be
interpreted as a cry for help from these girls by using the weather as a sign to those in the outside
world. It does also represent that the girls are losing faith, probably in their religion and the holy and
faint light inside them is dying out as it is being consumed by the darkness growing inside them and is
being feed with grief and silent pain that the girls are going through. Eugenide s uses semantic field to
again use nature to portray the Lisbon girls emotions the trees in the yard dropped, a cloud always
hovered over the Lisbon s house, steamed clouds and I think he does this because he shows the reader
that the girls are rarely physically seen so they are instead described through an alternative source
which is nature.

Absolutism In Italy
The period between 1870 and 1923 Italy was in an era commonly regarded as Liberal Italy a time
when the Italian government was a notoriously weak and unstable liberal democracy. The Italian
people now felt that their government lacked two important features entering WW1 , including
Mussolini : national identity and strength of government. Italy became a unified state in 1861,
although it remained divided at heart due to the diverse culture of each individual city state . This lack
of country unity, lead to a weak and underwhelming Liberal Italy . The democratic governments
before the first WW1 were often regarded by the Italian people, the outside world and the future
fascist dictator Mussolini as corrupt. Mussolini had written that this ... Show more content on

The violence from the war never left the soldiers as they took to the streets in violent riots. Many
veterans felt abandoned by the current government after the war including Mussolini, who had served
in WW1. In Mussolini s autobiography, he said that the war had lasted longer than we thought, had
diminished our wealth, had supposedly reduced our future to the minimum . This grand dissolution of
the Italian people was a powerful tool in Mussolini s arsenal, as one s sense of national pride is often
volatile and wide reaching. The post war time economy was also equally to blame in the rise of chaos
in Italy. High rates of inflation brutalized the lower class wage earners and unemployment soared to 2
million by the end of 1919 . With the Bolshevik revolution spreading fear of communism in Italy and
the lack of financial support the garden was ripe for fascist pickings. WWI also setup the playing field
for Communism to take root and subsequently, allowed Fascism as well. Fascism was gaining speed in

What Is Hardware Abstraction Layerss In The Operating...
a program were to be created, the programmer would have to know exactly how each piece of
hardware interacted and communicated with the system itself. Due to this, software development was
significantly more difficult than it is today. Through the use of hardware abstraction layers in the
modern day however, programmers don t require all of this information due to their programs being
compatible with any device. Hardware abstraction layers (HAL) allow the operating system to interact
with hardware elements of the machine that said operating system is running on; and it does this in an
abstract way as opposed to a more detailed hardware level. The main purpose of the HAL is to hide
the differences in pieces of hardware from the operating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Windows NT family of operating systems utilises a HAL directly from the kernel of the system,
in the kernel space between hardware and executive services in the file NTOSKRL.EXE. Using this
HAL, kernel mode code is made much more portable despite having different memory management
architectures, and different I/O bus architectures. Resource management in an operating systems
environment is the controlled allocation and de allocation of system resources, for example; processor
cores, memory pages, bandwidth and many others. These resources tend to be shared by various
programs running on the machine which require them in order for the program itself to run accurately,
and also to ensure that the machine can allocate just enough resources so that everything can run
smoothly. Two methods of multiplexing (sharing) these resources; time multiplexing, and space
multiplexing. Using a computer which has several users, means that the importance and needs of
managing and protecting resources such as memory, and processing cores are even greater than
otherwise. This is because users would have to share files with each other which could potentially end
in disaster for end user. Multiplexing (sharing) of resources in the operating system is done in two
different ways, these are; time multiplexing, and space multiplexing. When time multiplexing a
resource, it involves the resources have different programs take turns in using them. So instead of one

Ticos In Costa Rica
In the months of November and December 2015 in Paris, the Costa Rica was one of the leading

The Costa Ricans have worked hard to repair and preserve their nation s rainforest, cloud forest, coral

Charles Darwin Social Influence
One of the most influential thinkers in science, Charles Darwin was a man with an immense devotion
to pursuing the relationship between himself and the world around him.
In his article on the legacy of Darwin, Burghardt (2009) praised not only Darwin s genuine interest in
culture, human psychology, and all aspects of natural history, but also his behavioral observations and
interpretations of the animals and peoples of the areas he visited (p.103). His inclination to find reason
through observational and exploratory research cemented his contributions to the knowledge of human
development. Darwin s theories are still at the forefront of psychological research, lecture, and debate,
and are the basis for many different areas of study within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Darwin (1860) never attempted to find a clear location of animal instinct but rather, compared
instincts to malleable, habitual experiences carried across individuals of similar species (p.207). He
concluded that natural selection could play a role in the gradual development of instincts, and
theorized that variations of competing behaviors among different animals result of this phenomenon.
In, The Organism and its Behavior, Krout (1933), relays Darwin s attitudes of instinct, who spoke of
instincts as chains of reflexes but treated them as mental faculties , which impel animals to perform
certain actions (p. 87). Today s ethologists take Darwin s approach to instinct, and emphasize the role
of experience in shaping human behavior. Fear, a trait observed by Darwin in various species of birds,
is certainly an instinctive quality, as may be seen in nestling birds, though it is strengthened by
experience, and by the sight of fear of the same enemy in other animals. But fear of man is slowly
acquired (Darwin, 1860). The natural world, according the Darwin, has a direct effect on the
everchanging traits of an organism, whether habitual or instinctive. The constant shift of
environmental factors influences humans and nonhumans to form habits, and potentially, instincts.
This comparative approach has opened the doors to new ideas about behavior in humans

amazing Percy Bysshe Shelley writing Ozymandias, Ode to the West Wind, and To a Skylark, he has

nobody else could. In Ode to the West Wind the main theme is man and the natural world and it is

Diatomite
DIATOMITE
Diatomite is a sedimentary rock, that is white and yellowish in color. It is composed of fossilized
skeletons of one celled algae like plants called diatoms. It is accumulated in marine areas. The
Honeycomb sillia structure is useful because of its high absorptive capacity and surface area. It is also
very chemically stable. Its principal use is filtration.
This substance of diatomite is extracted from many countries around the world. Out of 30 world
countries the largest suppliers are the United States, China, Denmark, and Japan. China supplies about
350 thousand metric tons, Denmark extracts 375 thousand metric tons, and Japan, 190 thousand metric

One environmental specification of color is put on diatomite, because it is a calcine product. It has to
be of a light whitish color or it is not available to be mined. This helps environmentally because the
color determines a standard for what companies can and cannot mine.
I think one way for lessening the impact on the environment, would be to work harder at developing
recycling methods for diatomite cake. If recycling could be put into use not as much diatomite would
need to be mined. To excavate diatomite, different combinations of rippers, dozers, scrapers, front end
loaders, power shovels, and dump trucks are used. Underground mining is not too uncommon outside
the United States. Usually, room and pillar methods are used, often with equipment similar to that
used in open pits; in the smallest mines, hand tools are used. Dredging is used to recover
diatomaceous mud from the bottom of lakes. Since all these methods are used in excavation, I think
the best idea would be to choose the method with the least impact environmentally.
Sixty four percent of the diatomite mined is used in filtration.
Fourteen percent is used for absorbents, and twelve percent used in fillers. While two percent used for
insulation, and

As I m lying down on the couch, sipping coffee and watching television, my sister enters the living

Social media is a great way to do so; salesmen or companies just have to post their product and
information on their page, and all you need to do is check out a review or a video link and judge the
product (Duda, 2011). Also, social media is a chance for companies to show people that their more
than just a logo, it makes people feel that they re chatting with another person, not dealing with a
faceless company. Believe it or not people tend to trust their friends more than their companies. But
there s nothing that says your brand can t be their friend too (Duda, 2011). This shows that not only
can u accept people as friends on social networks, you can also add and accept companies and get to

Gerard David Virgin And Child With Four Angels
Gerard David created his oil on wood painting Virgin and Child with Four Angels from 1510 to 1515
in Bruges, Netherlands. The piece is currently located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York
City and is found in Gallery 640 as part of the museum s collection of European paintings. Just as the
title indicates, the painting s subject is the Blessed Virgin Mary holding her infant son Jesus Christ, the
prophesied Messiah of the Old Testament, while being crowned by angels. Through the use of formal
artistic techniques, David conveys the miraculous and perfect nature of the Mary, stressing her
importance as the Mother of God and the Queen of Heaven in a realistic and relatable manner.
Throughout the Virgin and Child with Four Angels, David employs the use of color to emphasize the
miraculous nature of the religious subject matter. From the ornate jewels of the crown to the ruby red
color of Mary s gown to the amethyst purple sash of the angel in the upper right, the application of
rich jewel tones induces a sense of royal holiness to figures. Their brightness and warmth successfully
draw the viewer s attention to figures possessing them and generate an atmospheric serenity to the
scene. Additionally, the subtle flushness of the figures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

royalty, honor and/or glory. Hence, this symbol represents the glory of Mary as Queen of Heaven and

in the middle ground of the piece, where a monk is praying in the field by the stone wall. In
Christianity, monks live solemn lives of prayer and service, completely devoted to spreading the Word
of God in the Christian Gospel. Therefore, the monk s presence creates a sense piety and holiness in
the scene, which lends well to the religious

The Connection Between Food And Identity
Food is closely related to human beings as it is one of the daily necessities that cannot be omitted.
Food offers in different places varies due to the differences in geographical location, weather, identity,
culture, availability of ingredients, purpose, to name but a few. Hence food can indeed reflects the
identity of those who consumes it because it is related to them intently. However, there is not much
investigation in the relationship between Identity and food. One of the major reasons is that food
seems to be too informal to be considered in an academic context. Thus I would like to use this
opportunity to illustrate the connection between food and identity. In this essay, I would focus on
explaining how Asian identity, particularly Hong Kong people (Chinese) and Vietnamese identities,
are expressed in food and compare their similarities and differences.
In Hong Kong, Pancai represents two identities in Hong Kong during different period of time: Punti
ethnic identity before 1997 and Hong Kong people identity around decolonization in 1997. Pancai
used to be prepared and consumed by the Punti Cantonese villagers living in the New Territories
exclusively during celebrations, festivals or family gatherings. This differentiates them from Hakka
and Tanka villages who were also living around as they do not eat Pancai. Moreover, only if you are
the kin related to the Cantonese villagers, you can have the rights and obligation to enjoy Pancai, and
this makes eating Pancai an

Summary Of Michael Jordan And The New Capitalism
Walter LaFeber s essay, Michael Jordan and the New Capitalism: America on Top of Its Game,
examines the ways that capitalism, along with high tech communication, is conquering the world, one
person or in this case one pair of feet at a time. Beginning as a basketball prodigy, rising to an
international phenomenon, and finally a seductive commercial ideal, Jordan is a true example of how
our American corporations have used technology in a brave way to expand all over the world.
Through LaFeber s examination of Nike and its power over the global, along with Jordan s
background, a lot is revealed about American society.
In 1999, when this essay was published, something as simple as a cellphone was a revolution to the
American people. Conversations anywhere with no wires involved! Wow! Looking back now,
American seemed pretty simple in 1999. This is the same for Michael Jordan once upon a time, Jordan
was JUST a basketball player. LaFeber s essay illustrates for us the rise of the young Jordan from his
middle class family in racist North Carolina through his college years and eventually into the NBA
where he became an international sports icon. LaFeber tells the story of how Jordan caught the eye of
Nike CEO Phil Knight and goes on to explain how Knight transformed Jordan into the face of a multi
billion dollar international corporation. LaFeber also fills us in on race and sports issues surrounding
Jordan and how that played a part in Nike s growth. LaFeber shows us how race effected middle class
Michael Jordan at a young age and how he was able to overcome this and grow into the star he is
today.
There is often a chief product that keeps a business afloat even in the rough times. McDonalds has the
Big Mac, Apple has the iPod, and Nike has Jordan. In the essay, LaFeber speaks about the types of
business deals that fueled Jordan s career. The new business strategies of the shoe company Nike,
helped escalate Jordan to the level of global fame he is today. Nike was an American company which
produced and sold a majority of their shoes in other countries. Here, LaFeber illustrates how the world
interacted with itself, and ultimately how globalization took off. LaFeber identifies Jordan at the
center of a new

The Tea Act Of Colonial America
In 1773, British Parliament passed a new act called the Tea Act on Colonial America. While this act
placed no new direct tax on tea, it essentially created a monopoly on tea in favor of the British East
India Company. This act enraged Colonists and merchants and revived the old American idiom
Taxation without Representation is Tyranny. This term, first coined by James Otis, Jr., was an
expression of American displeasure with how Parliament was able to enact new tax laws on the
American Colonies without having a representative from the Colonies to voice the opinion of the
Colonists. This idiom was prominent across Colonial America but had a greater emphasis on the port

unanimously against allowing the British tea to be put on American soil. The committee then sent men

The committee was initially in favor of this offer however, upon being presented to the people, the

The to and fro nature of the tides of war episodes look forward to the battles that swing back and forth
in favour of the opposing armies.24 The slaughter by Diomedes of Rhesus and his men, adopted from
Iliad 10, foreshadows the night raid of Nisus and Eurylaus in Book 9. The description also relates to
the later narrative through repetitious diction. For instance cruentus here describes Diomedes;25 later
when Nisus, like the Iliadic Diomedes is described as a lion,26 he has an ore cruento .27 The essence
of the tragic downfall in Book 9 is caused by Euryalus greed. This is described as prodidit ,28 the

years to build at a cost of £4.3bn. The facility, situated on a 251hectar site had 6000 people working
on site at any one time (Health and Safety Executive, 2005). It boasts of 30,000 square meters of glass
walls, has 60 new aircraft stands and includes 13km of tunnels which were bored for baggage
handling and rail links (BBC, 2007a).
This report will be evaluating the project risk management in the construction of T5 airport. It will
start with a brief background on Heathrow terminal 5. The report will then take a critical look at some
of the British Airport Authority s (BAA) method of risk allocation and identification. It ... Show more

In getting all parties involved to work as part of an integrated team, the risk identification process
would have involved a larger number of people and increased the identified sources of risk for the
project. This fundamental relationship between project parties played a huge role in the success of the
project with regards to time and cost. (Davies et al, 2009)
Another area that BAA also identified as a major source of risk going into the project was the
Information Technology (IT) systems that would go into T5. The head of systems for BAA, Nick
Gaines stressed that the IT systems represented the largest risk to the entire project ( Illet, 2006).This
is further supported by the fact that T5 underwent 6 months of testing prior to it s opening, most of
which was to do with its IT systems integration including the baggage system (BBC, 2007b)
Risk allocation
As mentioned in the introduction, allocating risk in financial terms to different parties is encouraged
as good practice.BAA however took on an entirely different approach to their allocation of risk by
choosing to take on all the risk. They went against the normal convention of contractual agreements
which are normally reactive in their nature and mostly end up with a focus on each party involved
claiming against the other for any extra

Analysis Of Phantasmagoria s Wickedest Tale Of All
Phantasmagoria`s Wickedest Tale of All is a stage performance which consists of different stage play
like; The Conqueror Worm pt 1 5, The Churel, The Churel Dance/Solo and The Masque of the Red
Death by Edger Allan Poe. I think the Churel was most the longest among the few that were
performed. The Churel is about when a pregnant woman dies during the Hindu Festival of Lights
which they also call Diwali and they believed that the pregnant woman will turn into Churel and can
come back to hunt either their family or young men by sucking their blood or eating their flesh.
In this play The Churel performed by the Phantasmagoria`s was a beautiful pregnant woman who had
three brothers that were uncontended and jealousy of her no matter how pleasing she was to her
brothers. They were not satisfied because they were full of hate and jealousy that lead them to kill her
before her husband could come back during the Hindu Festival. Her body was cremated instead of
burying her upside down to prevent her from becoming Churel. Because they failed to bury her upside
down and perform some rituals to prevent her from becoming churel, she came back as churel to hunt
and killed his brothers one after the other and when the husband rushed to her, she also killed the
husband, not because she didn`t love the husband but because of what she has to turn into,
bloodsucker.
Some of the aesthetic choice I found in the performance was the costume or dress. I think the dress
they wore

  • 2. Corporal Punishment And Its Effect On School Children Every effort is made to distribute our findings so that all of the public cannot ignore the wholesale infliction of pain and suffering onto our school children, and the role paddling schools play in teaching our children that physically aggressive and coercive resolutions of conflict are legitimate. Contributing to the problem of violence by making children feel rejected and isolated, corporal punishment is unsafe in and of itself, but its discriminate application may be co incident with problems unique to racial and gender identity and esteem, as well as academic and social confidence and competence. Through familiarity, or the result of apathy or biased reasoning, people apparently can become accustomed to disproportionality. Most of us seem to accept as legitimate the percentages of involvement in retributive punishment that would be, in the opinion of this author, the most astounding overrepresentations. These corporal punishment figures and their proportions are not secreted away, outside of public view. Yet they seem to lack sufficient general interest to sustain public concern over the issue. Through generations of exposure, it seems that we casually accept the presumption that any penalty imposed by our institutions must, therefore, fit an offense for which that penalty is just. This is the conclusion that we believe the fellow students who are exposed to paddlings draw: if one of society s representatives of authority is striking someone, then he or she ... • 3. Example Of Rapunzel Alternate Ending Rapunzel grew up pretty normal, as normal as as you could for being locked away from the outside world. Never being allowed to step a foot outside, let alone being allowed to venture down to the hospital mother Gothel worked at. All the young girl knew as the apartment she shared with Mother Gothel. • 4. The Current Status Of The U.s. Economy Despite the common assertion that all math is inherently difficult, statistics is rooted in simple mathematical concepts. Descriptive statistics, as depicted by author Charles Wheelan in Naked Statistics: Stripping the Dread from the Data, is a way to summarize raw data in order to make immense data sets more manageable and understandable (2013). As Wheelan points out, everything from presidential elections to baseball games can be summarized using statistics (2013). One of the most prevalent uses of statistical analysis is to summarize data in order to reflect the health of the U.S. economy, specifically through gross domestic product (GDP). Wheelan touches on the subject of how statistics can be used in conjunction with economics; however, there is much more he does not mention. The health of the U.S. economy is imperative to every American. It dictates whether it is a good time to splurge on a pricey vacation, invest in a new company, or save for the future. The only way to truly understand the current status of the U.S. economy is by being able to interpret statistical analyses accurately, which may be trickier than it appears. Just like any other topic, it starts with the basics (mean, median, etc.), but Wheelan soon makes it apparent that things become a bit more complicated when one looks past the fundamentals of statistics (2013). Interpreting statistical analyses is more than just being able to read charts and graphs. Descriptive statistics is rooted in simplicity; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of Bolam Test Typically, a defendant cannot escape liability in negligence simply by arguing that they followed common practice: Neglect of duty does not cease by repetition to be neglect of duty. However, there is one important exception to this rule. The court faces wide latitude to professionals, acting in their professional capacity, to determine the standards by which they are to be judge. In cases where the defendant has a special skill or competence, (that is, a skill that the reasonable man ordinarily does not have) and the circumstances are such that they are required to exercise that skills or competence, the courts have developed a different approach. In such cases, the actions of the defendant are judged against those of the ordinarily skilled man professing to exercise that skill, the so called Bolam test. Bolam test has been adopted for decades in various cases. One of the recent cases includes the case of Middleton (by his Father and Litigation Friend, Gavin Middleton) v Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust, the claimant brought a claim for damages for clinical negligence from the defendant NHS Trust. US National Public Debt Essay The national debt is the result of a state s borrowing from its population, from foreign governments, or from international institutions such as the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Public debts tend to be large scale credit operations and are contracted on a national scale by central governments and on a lesser scale by provincial, regional, district, and municipal administrative bodies. In the U.S., public debts are also contracted by the states and by local governments, primarily for public works. Although government loans are for the most part not secured by physical assets, they are regarded in law as contracts carrying an obligation on the part of the debtor to repay. Nevertheless, governments, when hard pressed during economic crises or as a result of political upheavals, have sometimes repudiated their public debts in whole or in part. In many cases, also, a government to whom another is in debt may agree to forgive the debt or reschedule its payment over a longer period. History In earlier times debts contracted by heads of state had the legal status of personal debt; public debt emerged as a systematic element in a country s economy when regular sources of income became available to provide funds to repay loans, a monetary system became fully formed, and an organized money market came into operation. The first examples of public debt surfaced in the late 17th century in Europe and became more prevalent with the rise of the modern state and the banking and credit system that grew out of the Industrial Revolution. Today, the finances involved in contracting and redeeming the public debt of a country are a sizable proportion of its government budget. As the money for redemption of the public debt is raised principally through taxation, the size of the national debt is a factor in determining taxation rates. • 7. Gender Impact On Class And Gender Effect of Class and Gender Do class and gender affect how individuals act or behave? Society has evolved throughout the years and with that evolution, the people have separated themselves by factors such as class and gender. This separation started many centuries ago and made a large appearance in the Great Depression and Civil Rights Movement. Along with this division of people, actions and behaviors seem to have been paired with certain classifications of people. In prior eras, women were seen as fragile and not earners due to needing to stay at home and take care of children. On the contrary, men were seen as masculine and earned a decent amount of money from working all day long. Even though genders evolved into how they are now with women working alongside men, the separation is still visible. Women are still fighting to get paid the same amount as men, resulting in a certain behavior based on the gender. This behavior is one where women try to get equal pay through comparable worth instead of just staying quiet like women used to. The factors of class and gender cause a difference in an individual s actions and behavior in the ways of not socializing with certain types of people, creating stereotypes, and behaving in a way to fit the norms of the specific class or gender. There are many different articles written that can help describe how socialization, generalized ideas, and standards cause individuals in different genders and classes to act in a certain way. A few of the most important are Post Princess Models of Gender: The New Man in Disney/Pixar by Gillam and Wooden, Seeing and Making Culture: Representing the Poor by hooks, and Girls Bodies, Girls Selves: Body Image, Identity, and Sexuality by Lipkin. All of these articles have aspects that point towards the fact that different reason cause individuals to perform their everyday activities in a certain way. Gillam and Wooden explain in their article that new films produced by Disney and Pixar have changed the idea of masculinity from one of the past to one that accepts the more traditional femininity. Throughout the book, Thucydides recounts the war and tells of the many actions of his mother land Athens. In several of his descriptions Athens could be viewed as arrogant especially towards their accomplishments in war. He also tells of a terrible crime that Athens commits that could be described as genocide. Thucydides also describes several simpleminded mistakes that were made that crippled Athens in the end and could have been prevented with more through thinking. Despite being powerful and dominant on the battlefield the Athenians suffer crippling defeat in the end. The arrogance, cruelty, and foolishness that Athens displayed brought fate down on Athens and caused their defeat in the Peloponnesian War. • 10. The Articles Of Confederation Impact On Federalism The Articles of Confederation was the first constitution of the United States. They were written during the revolutionary war to create a more unified government, and to establish what the national government could and could not do. The Articles let each state keep sovereignty, freedom, and independence, and created a very weak central government. For example, Congress could not regulate commerce or impose taxes. The impact that the Articles of Confederation had on federalism for the next few years was: the federal government had very few powers, and most of the authority remained in control of each individual state. The Elastic Clause is a statement in the first article of the Constitution. Also known as the Necessary and Proper Clause, it says that Congress has the power to make all laws which shall be necessary and proper. This means that Congress has implied powers to carry out laws that have been expressed in the constitution. One example of a time that the elastic clause has been used was when the federal government created a national bank. This shifted more of the power from the states to the federal government by giving it implied powers. With the elastic clause, the federal government creates more of its own laws. Why The Fraser River And Cariboo Gold Rushes Many people, when the subject of the Fraser River and Cariboo gold rushes comes up, immediately think of what wealth the miners must have obtained. Though this is a common belief, few miners during the gold rushes actually were successful for a number of different reasons; the location and geography, people failing to claim stakes, the amount of people there, and the types of people, and the cost of living balanced out the amount of gold that they were finding. One of the main reasons why few miners were successful during the Fraser River and Caribou Gold Rushes was the location, geography, and weather. A worse set of cut throats and scoundrels were never assembled anywhere else, mentioned a book (name the book, page reference, and paragraph). Given the fact that they are lazy and drunk, this may imply that they were not in fit shape to look for gold in the first place and may have not kept the gold that they found. As well, if they were indeed lazy, they would not have worked hard for the gold, thus not being successful in striking it rich. Negligence was also a big factor. It was reported that as miners came to sights, tens of thousands failed to stake claims because they were either too late and all they claims were gone or they were just ignorant of it. The amount of people was also definitely a setback. When news first reached people of a gold rush, thousands upon thousands flocked to the Fraser River and to Fort Victoria. Thirty thousand miners arrived at Fort Victoria, flooding the shores. Another 30 000 came up from California, entire towns clearing out as news spread. This would have made mining for gold very competitive. Fights would often breakout over spots on the steamboats that went up river. Many were so impatient that they made their own boats. What were tiny [communities] of less than three hundred people [became] a booming city of thousands overnight. National Organic Standards Board defined organic agriculture as; An ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off farm inputs and on management practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony (Organic Trade Association, 2014). Inspections of farm fields, record keeping and periodic testing of soil and water are required to ensure that growers of organic foods are meeting the standards which have been set by these organizations. Although organic production reflects similar cost structure with conventional production in terms of growing, harvesting, transportation and storage; total costs are higher in organic production due to more labour and management intensive process in order to adapt these strict regulations. Darwin (1860) never attempted to find a clear location of animal instinct but rather, compared instincts to malleable, habitual experiences carried across individuals of similar species (p.207). He concluded that natural selection could play a role in the gradual development of instincts, and theorized that variations of competing behaviors among different animals result of this phenomenon. In, The Organism and its Behavior, Krout (1933), relays Darwin s attitudes of instinct, who spoke of instincts as chains of reflexes but treated them as mental faculties , which impel animals to perform certain actions (p. 87). Today s ethologists take Darwin s approach to instinct, and emphasize the role of experience in shaping human behavior. Fear, a trait observed by Darwin in various species of birds, is certainly an instinctive quality, as may be seen in nestling birds, though it is strengthened by experience, and by the sight of fear of the same enemy in other animals. But fear of man is slowly acquired (Darwin, 1860). The natural world, according the Darwin, has a direct effect on the everchanging traits of an organism, whether habitual or instinctive. The constant shift of environmental factors influences humans and nonhumans to form habits, and potentially, instincts. This comparative approach has opened the doors to new ideas about behavior in humans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is accumulated in marine areas. The Honeycomb sillia structure is useful because of its high absorptive capacity and surface area. It is also very chemically stable. Its principal use is filtration. This substance of diatomite is extracted from many countries around the world. One environmental specification of color is put on diatomite, because it is a calcine product. It has to be of a light whitish color or it is not available to be mined. This helps environmentally because the color determines a standard for what companies can and cannot mine. I think one way for lessening the impact on the environment, would be to work harder at developing recycling methods for diatomite cake. If recycling could be put into use not as much diatomite would need to be mined. To excavate diatomite, different combinations of rippers, dozers, scrapers, front end loaders, power shovels, and dump trucks are used. Underground mining is not too uncommon outside the United States. Usually, room and pillar methods are used, often with equipment similar to that used in open pits; in the smallest mines, hand tools are used. Dredging is used to recover diatomaceous mud from the bottom of lakes. Since all these methods are used in excavation, I think the best idea would be to choose the method with the least impact environmentally. Sixty four percent of the diatomite mined is used in filtration. Fourteen percent is used for absorbents, and twelve percent used in fillers. While two percent used for insulation, and ... Social media is a great way to do so; salesmen or companies just have to post their product and information on their page, and all you need to do is check out a review or a video link and judge the product (Duda, 2011). Also, social media is a chance for companies to show people that their more than just a logo, it makes people feel that they re chatting with another person, not dealing with a faceless company. Believe it or not people tend to trust their friends more than their companies. But there s nothing that says your brand can t be their friend too (Duda, 2011). • 28. Gerard David Virgin And Child With Four Angels Gerard David created his oil on wood painting Virgin and Child with Four Angels from 1510 to 1515 in Bruges, Netherlands. The piece is currently located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and is found in Gallery 640 as part of the museum s collection of European paintings. Just as the title indicates, the painting s subject is the Blessed Virgin Mary holding her infant son Jesus Christ, the prophesied Messiah of the Old Testament, while being crowned by angels. Through the use of formal artistic techniques, David conveys the miraculous and perfect nature of the Mary, stressing her importance as the Mother of God and the Queen of Heaven in a realistic and relatable manner. Throughout the Virgin and Child with Four Angels, David employs the use of color to emphasize the miraculous nature of the religious subject matter. From the ornate jewels of the crown to the ruby red color of Mary s gown to the amethyst purple sash of the angel in the upper right, the application of rich jewel tones induces a sense of royal holiness to figures. Hence food can indeed reflects the identity of those who consumes it because it is related to them intently. However, there is not much investigation in the relationship between Identity and food. One of the major reasons is that food seems to be too informal to be considered in an academic context. Thus I would like to use this opportunity to illustrate the connection between food and identity. In this essay, I would focus on explaining how Asian identity, particularly Hong Kong people (Chinese) and Vietnamese identities, are expressed in food and compare their similarities and differences. In Hong Kong, Pancai represents two identities in Hong Kong during different period of time: Punti ethnic identity before 1997 and Hong Kong people identity around decolonization in 1997. Pancai used to be prepared and consumed by the Punti Cantonese villagers living in the New Territories exclusively during celebrations, festivals or family gatherings. • 36. Summary Of Michael Jordan And The New Capitalism Walter LaFeber s essay, Michael Jordan and the New Capitalism: America on Top of Its Game, examines the ways that capitalism, along with high tech communication, is conquering the world, one person or in this case one pair of feet at a time. Beginning as a basketball prodigy, rising to an international phenomenon, and finally a seductive commercial ideal, Jordan is a true example of how our American corporations have used technology in a brave way to expand all over the world. Through LaFeber s examination of Nike and its power over the global, along with Jordan s background, a lot is revealed about American society. In 1999, when this essay was published, something as simple as a cellphone was a revolution to the American people. Conversations anywhere with no wires involved! Wow! Looking back now, American seemed pretty simple in 1999. This is the same for Michael Jordan once upon a time, Jordan was JUST a basketball player. LaFeber s essay illustrates for us the rise of the young Jordan from his middle class family in racist North Carolina through his college years and eventually into the NBA where he became an international sports icon. LaFeber tells the story of how Jordan caught the eye of Nike CEO Phil Knight and goes on to explain how Knight transformed Jordan into the face of a multi billion dollar international corporation. LaFeber also fills us in on race and sports issues surrounding Jordan and how that played a part in Nike s growth. LaFeber shows us how race effected middle class Michael Jordan at a young age and how he was able to overcome this and grow into the star he is today. There is often a chief product that keeps a business afloat even in the rough times. McDonalds has the Big Mac, Apple has the iPod, and Nike has Jordan. In the essay, LaFeber speaks about the types of business deals that fueled Jordan s career. The new business strategies of the shoe company Nike, helped escalate Jordan to the level of global fame he is today. Nike was an American company which produced and sold a majority of their shoes in other countries. Here, LaFeber illustrates how the world interacted with itself, and ultimately how globalization took off. LaFeber identifies Jordan at the center of a new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This term, first coined by James Otis, Jr., was an expression of American displeasure with how Parliament was able to enact new tax laws on the American Colonies without having a representative from the Colonies to voice the opinion of the Colonists. The Churel is about when a pregnant woman dies during the Hindu Festival of Lights which they also call Diwali and they believed that the pregnant woman will turn into Churel and can come back to hunt either their family or young men by sucking their blood or eating their flesh.
