Arthurian Legend Report The tale of King Arthur is renowned to be one of the most popular myths in
the entire world. The Arthurian legend is filled with massive amount of characters and lore. Each
character serves a purpose in King Arthur s road to kingship. Whether the characters are good or evil,
they still mature Arthur s growth. One character in particular was told to be Arthur most influential
companion, which was Merlin. Another was an important member in King Arthur s court, which was
Taliesin. These two magical characters were important to the legend and the lore. Merlin was said to
be one of the strongest magicians in all of the lands, but how did he get his power? His powers were
inherited through the genes of his father. Merlin was the child of an innocent girl and a demon with
magical power. When Merlin was born he kept his mother personality, but got his father s power. He
helps guide Arthur into his kingship. He becomes a mentor to him, but that isn t the only way Merlin
got involved with Arthur. Merlin also helped Uther Pendragon( Arthur s father) ... Show more content

Personal Narrative On Christmas

Personal Narrative
The air was crisp outside, it was nearing Christmas in our small little city named Belleville. Everyone
seemed to be out and about finishing their last minute Christmas shopping and the city had a busy, but
happy feel to it. The ground had a white blanket of snow on it that had just fallen during the early
hours of the morning. My mom was taking me to the mall so that I could get pictures taken with
Santa, one of my favourite parts about Christmas. As I was sitting in my car seat all bundled up in my
snow suit, clutching my favourite stuffed bunny all I was fixated on was what to ask Santa for
Christmas. I was 7 years old with big brown eyes that glared out the window with the unruliest hair
you could ever imagine. As we stopped at our final red light before our destination, we both witnessed
an extremely bad car wreck. It was one of those car wrecks that seem to happen in slow motion, so
slow that you can almost scream Watch out! . All of a sudden, the women that I viewed as my ordinary
suburban mom dashed out of our warm van to face the crisp, windy weather. That day she risked her
life to save another. She was able to keep the driver of the SUV stable until the ambulance arrived.
This was the first time I ever saw my mom as the true person she is. Selfless, courageous, she stepped
in not even on a first name basis. She didn t know that person in the SUV and they didn t know her.
That was the day that I decided I wanted

Four General Types of Measurement
There are four general types of measurement scales: sorting, ranking, rating, and categorizing (Cooper
amp; Schindler, 2006). The data collected by the survey team at Insuratel used a rating scale. The
surveys where used to measure employee job satisfaction across departments. The Likert Scale was
used to collect the data for all the questions in the survey. The questions asked in the survey studied
the attitudes of the employees and their satisfaction. The surveys provided valuable feedback and
determined that most of the employees are satisfied with their jobs at Insuratel. The study also
suggests that employees don t have a strong opinion about support from upper level management.

Cellulose Chromatography Lab
1. Why did you select the solvents that you tested? Did your data support your hypothesis or disprove
your hypothesis?
We selected water because it is a constant and it is a common solvent, as well as we selected acetone
and ethanol, since all three of these solvents are very different from each other, such as their structure
and polarity levels. The data that we collected supports our hypothesis.
2. What explanations can you provide for your separation of the three molecules? How was the choice
of the solvent connected to the separation process?

The Beauty Myth Essay
This essay is for women who believe their thighs are too big, their breasts are too small, their hair is
boring, their skin is flawed, their body is shaped funny, or their clothes are outdated. This month s
column is for women who believe their life would improve if they could lose 15 pounds; if they could
afford contact lenses, that new perfume or anti cellulite concoction; if they got a nose job, a face lift, a

ponder some part (or all) of their body. In other words, this month s column is for 99.9% of the

Essay On Barn Burning
Why are children so loyal to their parents, even if their parents do not meet the moral standards of the
child? Throughout the text of Barn Burning , Sarty seems to have repetitive feelings of grief and
despair, yet he hesitates to out his father for his crimes. He hates his father s crimes and his father s
way of life. Yet, Sarty is hesitant to out his father for his crimes. Mainly because he hopes his father
will change, he fears his father will harm him physically or emotionally, and he places a priority on his
family s wellbeing before his own. First, Sarty hesitates to reveal his father s crimes to others because
he hopes that his father may change. Sarty is hoping that his father will change, but without him

Sarty s fear or respect for his father can be seen multiple times throughout the text. Abner is obviously
a very physically abusive man as can be seen when he strikes Sarty after the Harris case or when his
forcefully pushes his wife away later in the text. But, Abner is also emotionally abusive to his family.
Not only does the threat of him making them move harm Sarty emotionally, but also the fact that he
has no problem abandoning Sarty really cuts Sarty deep. This can be seen after Abner strikes Sarty on
the night of the Harrison case. Abner tells Sarty; You got to learn to stick to your own blood or you ain
t going to have any blood to stick to you. (Faulkner, 28) This leads to the fact that Sarty is only a 10
year old boy and depends on his father to live. It s not like he could just go into town and make a
living of his own as a child. So, not only is Sarty staying quiet to protect himself physically and
emotionally, but he is also protecting his livelihood and way of life. Finally, Sarty s last motive to keep
his father s crimes a secret is that he places the priority of his family s wellbeing over his own
happiness. Sarty does this because he knows his family is hurt by Abner s actions just as much as he
is. Yet he also knows that he and his family need his father. He and his family survive off Abner s
Sharecropping. If he were to report his

The Problem Of Teen Suicide
Teen suicide is one of the leading causes of death among teens and a significant problem in the United
States. Consequently, suicide is a tragedy not only for that person, but also for their family and friends
that are left behind (Bell). Many teens of all races are affected by this intentional, self inflicted death.
Even though the causes of suicide can be hard to isolate, the signs can be linked to depression, drug
abuse, emotional neglect of their parents, bullying, parents divorcing, sexual and domestic abuse.
Sadness, feelings of lack of worthiness, uninterested in activities are all signs of depression.
Depression is a mood disorder and it is one of the most common signs that lead to suicide. Teenagers
let problems take over their live. If this mental disorder is identified in the early stages, professional
guidance may solve the problem (Bell). Time is the main factor for depression. Emotional distress is
usually what the teenager feels before attempting or completing the act. The only way their behavior
will improve is through professional help. Emotional neglect of parents can affect teens in a way that
is hard to believe. Parents are busy with their lives and sometimes forget about their children s
emotional needs. Therefore, the child feels their existence no longer matters (Bell). Divorce is another
catalyst in teen suicide. Teens that are in a middle of a divorce tend to blame themselves for their
parents break up. Feelings of abandonment takes over and

How Open Houses Influence a Buyer s Decision In the world of the housing market, there are what we
call real estate agents. They are the people who find people their own dream home to live forever
happily with no problems to come for their home hopefully. Well, what some people don t know is
what it takes and how hard it is to make it into the real estate world. More and more people that
venture into the market business have quit, because they can t afford it. While open houses are
excellent on a buyer s decision for any house, the most helpful way to really catch peoples eye about
an open house is a property website that is well created, but most listings on a Facebook page, or team
up with other agents to help out as well as they would want you to for them.
Rule number 1 in real estate is to start off part time. Starting off part time will ensure that no cash will
be wasted into. If someone starts off full time they will have to put all of their money into the gas,
building, and property. Most people start part time because they can have another job in which they
can have money for real estate and some for them. If anyone was to start full time, they would put all
of their money into it and have no money for them after. Being smart with money in real estate is what
generates more cash and the most important thing experience . Experience in any job is the key to
success. Most jobs want people that feel comfortable

Like nature, the United States government has evolved to meet the demands of an ever growing
population, the increasing terrorist threat, and a new state of mind in terms of what government should

Executive branch handles day to day maintenance of the federal government, makes sure laws are
enforced and carried out, as well as represents the U.S. to foreign interests. The Legislative branch
passes laws and allocates funds for use in running the federal government and providing assistance to

Short Story Of Cinderella
A small village in a town called Bingara, lived a very cruel couple Hazel and Paul. They lived in a
small house where it was always cold. They never wanted children but Hazel accidentally became
pregnant with twins and named them as Cinderella and Joseph. They always treated their kids badly
since they were born.
17 years later, when Bingara was hit by a tragic earthquake, they moved to a place called Hazelbrook.
It is a very beautiful place, nearby there was a Huge Kingdom with large garden surrounded it.
Cinderella and Joseph had always faced miserable lives every day as they were always starving from
food and constantly bitten by their parents. Cinderella was very pretty girl who was very kind to all
and Joseph was well behaved and very hardworking boy who was very much known to most of the
village people.
Just after a month, Cinderella started behaving very weird like, talking very rude to the people even
with her loving brother Joseph. She somehow started admiring herself as the most beautiful girl in the
whole universe. Later, she started abusing others about their beauty. Joseph was getting very worried
about Cinderella. He was completely confused about sudden change in her behaviour as she wasn t
like that before. Joseph thought to visit a doctor for Cinderella so, he was enquiring about the doctor
with the people in the village.
Joseph had a very good neighbour who helped him to find a doctor and also who can also identify the
main reason behind Cinderella s rude behaviour. The next day, when doctor was asking questions to
Cinderella. She was completely quiet and calm after a while she burst out of tears and said, Me and
my brother are very lonely without any support of our parents . After the check up, the doctor said to
her brother. She was hiding her deep pain in her heart, which has affected her brain to be in anger in
short interval of times as well as it maybe have caused because of the less interaction with her parents

Spartan Women Vs Athenian Women Analysis
The classical cities of Athens and Sparta are known for their many differences in societal constructs
(Frey, Bergez Joseph, 2004), government systems and political views. However must profound
difference, was the differing roles for Athenian and Spartan women during the Classical Period (Frey,
Bergez Joseph, 2004), evident in their social, religious, political and economic areas of life, impacting
the extent of freedom and power they could possess (O Pry, 2012).Classical Greek culture had strong

within Greek comedy it is only slaves who kneel, kneeling within dire circumstances (Cole, 2004).

Real Science Project
The first day of science was highly enjoyable, I was so excited that we finally get to do some real
science projects. In elementary school, we had not worked on science very much. One of my favorite
projects that we have done so far was the cup activity where there was a rubber band and eight strings
were tied to the rubber band. We each took one piece of the string and we were instructed to work
together to try and transfer the rubber band onto the cups, to make a tower. That activity was highly
amusing because it taught us how to work together. When Mrs. Cotter realized that we could not work
together very well, she gave us another activity to do. She assigned us partners and she gave each pair
of partners one piece of string. The pairs of partners were assigned to tie the string around themselves
once, then she told us to untie it without letting go of each other s hand. That project was ... Show

chromebook. At last, after everyone was done typing the results of the measuring project, we started
something new that we are currently working on. Our class is going on a space trip to another planet,
and our class has to come up with a list of survival items we need, to live in space for two years. I
enjoy doing this project very much, and I have always liked working together on a project and making
lists also based on everyone else s ideas. In general, all the activities we have worked on in science
class this year have been extremely fun. Science class has been by far one of my favorite classes, I

The Modern Age Presents Multiple Channels For Action,...
The modern age presents multiple channels for action, dialogue and discussion. Furthermore, social
and political thought suggests that spaces of remembrance encourage understanding, thought and
reflection. Thus, it is thought that memory holds vast opportunities to mend the of frailty of human
affairs. Good deeds, when reified into memories can be held up to be replicated, or possibly surpassed
in the future. Yet the process of memorialisation is often contested, for the formation of memory can
only occur in retrospect on behalf of someone or something. Public commemoration is a difficult
process, as it simplifies and condenses complex stories at the cost of omitting others. Thus, spaces of
remembrance can become spaces of contestation, and memory entails political risk. Memory presents
a crucial tension in the network of ideas and action, which are both public and private. It is not only
central to improving the frailty of human affairs, it is a dauntingly complex process weaved with
intrinsically personal reflections, which, leads us to the fundamental paradox of memory. Memory is
crucial to the public realm, but it originates within. Furthermore, the modern age multiplies spaces of
remembrance presenting an unfettered opportunity to improve the frailty of human affairs. Yet, the
contestation of memories such as those in war have often been internalised, and thus refuted on a
deeply personal level to challenge mourning is viewed as perverse act of disrespectful to the

Ocean Surface Current Simulation
OSCURS, or the Ocean Surface Current Simulator, created by Jim Ingraham to improve and cut down
the time needed to calculate and compile necessary data for the ocean currents. The original thought
behind the simulation was to track down varies salmon species and their spawn locations at the North
Pacifics. Fisheries needed more data and analysis to track down the salmons, and the best ways are by
water salinity and temperature. By compiling the data of how the salmons swim along the ocean
currents, it was a job for OSCURS to predict the locations. OSCURS allow oceanography calculations

Ebbesmeyer raises questions include understanding how do all sorts of drifters ended up separated by
the same categories at different beaches. By now, Ebbesmeyer has a good understanding about
OSCURS and know that it will be the go to program whenever a drifter related question comes up. By
recognizing that each drifter is varies by sizes, the wind that blows upon the drifter, the deflection
angle of the drifter can contribute heavily to where it possibly can end up or the amount of time it will
require for the drifter to land. The hockey glove spill in 1994 is a great example of why wind factors
and deflection angle matters. OSCURS can only be so accurate when the programs runs on the
controllable data such as weather, direction of currents, and locations of spillage, but uncontrollable
factors like wind and the drifter floating angles can create small differences in the calculation that
leads to errors as well. Because of the glove floatation with fingers floating upward, they travel 20
percent quicker than flotsams like shoes or sneakers, as well as left or right sided gloves can drift
separately on different currents, ending up on different locations. From this spillage, OSCURS showed

Essay on Belonging, Romulus My Father
An individual s interaction with others and the world around them can enrich or limit their experience
of belonging. This statement can be readily depicted through various texts which include Raimond
Gaita s memoir, Romulus My Father and Universal Studio s 2004 film, Hating Alison Ashley. Both of
these texts involve various techniques that assist in portraying the concept of belonging to both an
environment and to relationships. Belonging is a concept that is more complex than it first appears. It
may be experienced on many levels between belonging and not belonging, be it to a family, a
friendship, a place or a surrounding environment. It is a perception that is shaped within personal,
cultural, historical and social contexts. Belonging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The film Hating Alison Ashley from Universal Studios, also reveals how an individual s interaction
with others and the world around them can enrich or limit their experience of belonging to an
environment. The two protagonists both find themselves at odds with the environment throughout
different stages in the film. Erika Yuken is competent in her own way but out of place within her
community and school environment. However, it appears to be a matter of perception, Erika believes
that she is better than or different from what she actually is. This attribute makes her think that she is
above everyone and ultimately creates barriers between her interacting with her peers and in turn
belonging to her school environment. Erika and Alison both feel insecure and awkward in their school
environment, but for varying reasons. Erika assumes she doesn t belong and that she should be
someone else. Life can be lonely when you re exceptional. This reflective statement reveals that she
thinks herself to be better than others and also highlights the isolation she feels because of this
perception. At the beginning of the film a montage of photos of beautiful people, houses and wealth
are shown in conjunction with a voice over, spoken by Erika. There were very few perfect places to

Sociology Reflection Paper
Sociology Reflection Paper
When I first decided to go back to school at the ripe age of 33, I had no idea what I wanted to study. I
had recently closed my Pedorthic business and needed a change. Due to my fulltime job and five
children, I decided taking online courses would fit into my hectic schedule. In High School I enjoyed
taking Sociology and Psychology so I figured those two classes would be fun and interesting to start
with. Not only have I enjoyed this class, I have decided to major in Sociology. Taking this class
awakened the interest and excitement that I had back in High School. I am looking forward to
continuing down this path.

Society has long sought to find a definite difference between what is natural and what is too harsh for
children. There are obvious cases of abuse and improper treatment of child laborers as there have been
for years, and it is obvious that it is in no way beneficial to the children to work as they do. There then
comes a question of whether or not something should be done and if so then what. Child labor is an
issue rooted in the very idea that sometimes, the members of society have a responsibility to the rest of
society to work for the good of those people who cannot work for themselves. The children involved
never have and do not now possess the capability to seek change. This ability lies solely in the rest of
society. The issue then becomes a question of how people respond to social responsibility. It is easy to
separate oneself from social responsibilities as many people in the countries of global power, like the
United States, do not have a real or serious problem of child labor. They are really above the problems
of modern child labor as the only real contact that they have with it is when the major companies
therein are accused of contributing to the hiring of unfairly compensated and over worked child
employees.
Child labor stands as a strong example of how some changes must be brought upon by people outside
of the circle. Of those in the Industrial Revolution who

Essay On All My Pretty Ones By Anne Sexton
Crumbling under her myriad selves, Anne Sexton s poetry reveals through the journey of words the
labyrinthine setting that resides inside a disturbed mind. Intimate, almost with a sense, similar to that
of trespassing someone s private journals, her works bared her deepest and often darkest desires for
the world to read, scrutinize and often condemn. Poetry for her was a recluse, a momentary escape
route from her otherwise troubled mental state; keeping her more or less sane to survive the wild,
twisted world she built around her.
The genre of Confessional Poetry fit Sexton like a glove. She enrolled for workshops from Robert
Lowell at the Boston University and made close acquaintances with the likes of Sylvia Plath and
George Starbuck, meanwhile enhancing her only too verbally extrovert spirit. Over countless martinis
at the Ritz Carlton, the two women compared suicide attempts, discussed their mutual enchantment
with death, critiqued each other s work, and gossiped over drinks and free potato chips.*
While studying confessional poetry, it is of key importance to understand that these poems do not

Alluding perhaps in the same vein as Macduff in Shakespeare s tragedy, Macbeth, the collection
chronicles her coming to terms with the vicious circle of life and inevitability hovering over the living.
The twin deaths of Sexton s parents in 1959 (her mother s succeeded by her father s) led her to cling
on to writing for dear life. Her poems thinly conceal her feelings of bitterness towards them and thus
vividly capture the essence of the conflict between holding them responsible for desolating her and
lamenting their loss. Using it as a vehicle to transport herself from these worldly sufferings, she used
poetry as a defense, as a healing ointment to veil the scarring of her

The Impact Of Literacy On Student Education
Literacy is the ability to comprehend, create and communicate the meaning of the written word. It is a
fundamental part of reading. Typically it starts in early childhood and builds throughout the student s
academic school years. Literacy has an impact on student learning by affecting acquire knowledge and
analyzing it. Many times children will struggle with literacy and become frustrated and detach from
the reading experiences which leads to a drop in academic achievement. Research has found that if a
student is not reading by third grade, they will continue to struggle academically and probably not
graduate high school (Spann, 2014). In 2014, many states had to develop literacy policies focusing on
evidenced based literacy instruction, which is aim to discuss the deficits in the academic achievement
(Spann, 2014). In 2014, South Carolina passed an Act 284 (Read to Succeed) to offered a framework
students instruction and teacher preparation to help with literacy skills necessary for academic and
professional development (Spann, 2014). In developing the Read to Succeed Act, the state chose to
discuss some challenges that still cause issues in literacy. The state found that by third grade that one
out of three students were reading below grade level. In certain demographic groups, the achievement
gap was even wider (Spann, 2014). South Carolina set up the Read to Succeed Act that requires
students who are not performing at grade level be retained or attend a summer reading

Benjamin Barker s Transformation In Sweeny Todd
When considering the character Benjamin Barker Sweeny Todd , there is a transformation in
costuming from an innocent man to vengeful protagonist. At the start of the show he is dressed in
depressing black color, with his hair as black can be. There is no white stripe in his hair which in my
own interpretation makes me think of Cruella Deville from 101 Dalmatians, especially as he projects
his anger through song. His voice contains such passion and rage, with a deep echo that the audience
couldn t ever forget. He appears as a sailor with torn clothes, all of which are deep in color and
symbolizes hated and despair. Also, the colors used give a sense of power, evil, mystery and fear, and
that s only his attire from the scene on the boat. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bafa Exercise Analysis
Throughout this semester we have done two class exercises, Bafa Bafa and Team Ring Toss.
Throughout this paper, I am going to go into detail about how both of these exercises can be
incorporated into various management concepts and theories that we as humans use every day. I will
break both exercises down and elaborate on the four stages of Kolb s Model of the Learning Process,
which are the Concrete Experience (feeling), Reflective Observation (watching), Abstract
Conceptualization (thinking), and Active Experimentation (doing).
Concrete Experience The first class exercise that we did in class was Bafa Bafa Exercise, in this
exercise we were split into two groups, the Alpha and Beta culture. These groups were very different
in a plethora of ways and had completely different ways of life. I was a member of the Alpha Culture;

Physics Of Cylinder Pressure During 4 Engine Speed

4.1 In cylinder pressure
The evolution of in cylinder pressure during 4 engine speed is shown in Figure1a, b, c, d. From the in

peak combustion pressure is slightly retarded consequences, of BA adding. The pressure rise rate in
the figure 1a and b shows that BA containing fuels have a higher pressure rise rate at speed1400 and

4.3 Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC) and Brake thermal efficiency
The effect of n butanol/diesel fuel blends on the brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) and brake
thermal efficiency (BTE) with the variety of engine speed are illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3, respectively.
It was observed that all BA diesel fuel blends slightly increased the BSFC and the BTE at all BA blend
ratios. The result indicated that BSFC increases as engine speed resulting in almost all engine speed
due to the lower heating value of BA (31.4MJ/kg) compared with the heating value of diesel
(41.3MJ/kg). Generally, the engine consumes more fuel with n butanol/diesel fuel blends comparing
with reference diesel fuel to generate the same engine output torque because of the lower heat content
of the fuel blends. As would expected, the BSFC increases with the increasing BA content in the fuel
blends because of the decreased energy content. This increment in BSFC is similar trends that were
reported in Refs. [20, 23, 24].
In spite of the fact that higher BSFC of n butanol/diesel fuel the enhancement, oxygen content of the
fuel blends gives higher BTE. The improvement in BTE can be referred to the enhanced oxygen
content, which helps improvement in combustion, particularly during the diffusion combustion phase.
Another influence factor that affects the BTE is cetane number. Lower cetane number of the BA diesel
fuel blends causes of the

Attending A Music Concert At An Art Museum
Think about the arts: they are omnipresent like air in daily life, from going to the movies to attending
a music concert to visiting an art museum, with none of those activities being existent if it were not for
the people who spent years perfecting those art forms for other s entertainment and enjoyment. The
truth is, the arts have been embedded in human nature just like carvings on wood, and is a surviving
and persisting tradition that can be traced to even the earliest culture and history that has proved itself
to be a key factor for bringing the world together under common interests and art forms. One would
think that the arts should be required in all education systems with their strong roots in the past and
modern times, but the arts are still the first programs to be cut from schools on tight budgets, and are
nonexistent in low income schools due to being dismissed as inferior to the more academic subjects.
Even though the arts are more abstract, subjective, and lenient in subject areas, they are still the
crucial link and passage to the world of creativity, imagination, and passion. The arts are irreplaceable
subjects that should be maintained in schools because only they can provide a truly well rounded
education to students, harnessing them with priceless skills that simply cannot be found in purely
academic classes, while providing numerous benefits that no other programs can replace. Unlike
regular academic subjects, the arts have their basis on creative

Pawnee National Grassland Research Paper
Importance of preserving Pawnee National Grassland
WWF Panel
Good morning/afternoon WWF panel members,
The importance of preserving Pawnee National Grassland is essential, to not only us, but also for the
environment. Pawnee National Grasslands is one of the largest grasslands in the world, situated in
Colorado, USA. It covers over 700 km2 of area, which means that it has one of the largest roles in
shaping the environment in the surrounding area. Destroying Pawnee National Grasslands will have
dire consequences on the ecosystem, including causing a trophic cascade devastating the food chain,
increase the intensity and damage caused by flooding, and increase the amount of carbon dioxide in
the air which will cause global warming/climate change, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These pollutants can involve anything from pesticides to fine sediments to poisons. However,
Grasslands act as natural water filters, helping prevent these pollutants from flowing down into
waterways. How does this work? Purification is carried out by microbes such as bacteria or fungi in a
biological process. However, this process only works well over time. Grasslands increase the time
required for precipitation to reach rivers hence increasing the purity of the resulting water. However, if
Pawnee National Grassland is replaced with roads and cities, the new impervious surfaces will cause
the water to flow faster and are a source of even more pollutants. The cost of building a water
filtration plant is around $6 8 billion, and it takes more than $300 million each year to operate it. So
the choice is obvious to keep the free natural water filter rather than to build a costly unnecessary
replacement.
On the same note, not only will Pawnee National Grassland slow down the flow of water hence
increase the purity of the water, but the slower run off also allows the grassland to act as a flood stop
limiting the amount of water which can reach rivers like a sponge. If grasslands and native vegetation
are kept and allowed to regenerate there will also be no need for expensive solutions for

Salt Pollution On Duckweed
Introduction:
Motivation:
Pollution of our environment is a big issue in today s world. I thought I would focus on one aspect of
this by looking at the effects of salt pollution on duckwed. Hopefully by finding out more about our
effects on the environment we can discover ways to preserve it.
Aim: To find out what effects growing in waters of different salinity will have on the growth of
duckweed.
Hypothesis: The duckweed will show a small growth increase with very low levels of salinity and then
will show a decline in growth rate as the levels of salinity increase.
Planned methodology: Collect a sample pool of duckweed, and measure out an equal amount into 5
different containers. Place an increasing amount of salt into the first 4 containers and no salt in the 5th
container as a control. Monitor the growth of the duckweed for 2 weeks.
Methodology
· Collect samples of duckweed.
· Prepare 5 beakers with 500 ml of water each.
· Count 5 duckweed fronds into each beaker.
· Place 1ml of salt in the first beaker, 2ml in the second, 4 ml in the third, 8ml in the fourth and none
in the fifth.
· Place each sample into it s own beaker of water and label them according to the amount of salt in
each. Label the beaker with no salt control
· Place each beaker by a window where they will each get equal amounts of sunlight.
· monitor the relative growth rate of each sample by measuring the size of each frond compared to the
beginning size. Measure once every two days.
· Record your results.
Experiment 1
The original experiment was a failure, as the method of measuring duckweed by surface area was
inefficient and inaccurate. The minimum amount of salt (2.5ml) added to the samples, turned out to be
enough to kill all the duckweed, allowing no comparison to be made of the growth rate. In the second
attempt I will count out a smaller, but exact, number of duckweed fronds which will make counting
growth easier and more accurate. I will also use smaller amounts of salt (0.5 1.5 ml)
The duckweed was found to have a very slight growth rate increase with the addition of 1 ml of salt,
(confirming the statement in source 1) however when any more salt was added the duckweed showed
a decline in growth rate, culminating with the

Should Evolution Be Taught In Schools Essay
Have you ever wondered if evolution was the one and only way that humans came to be? Well, you
are wrong! There is another side to this continuing argument. The United States Supreme Court
declared that restricting an educator s right to teach the theory of evolution is unconstitutional.
Disclaimers conveying the theory of evolution of humankind as the only explanation or development
is unconstitutional. I believe that both creationism, and evolution both be taught, if anything. Let the
students voice their own opinions based off their beliefs and evidence they individually gather.
Creationism should be taught in schools, they do idol critical thinking skills. However, they still

Creationism is the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed
and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth. As you can see, they are two
competing theories. But only one seems to be taught in public schools, funny right? Nobody ever
seems to criticize evolution in any course materials or textbooks, it just can t be stated as a scientific
law. The controversy believes that sudden appearances of chaos from nothing and god can t be enough
evidence. However, we can t find transitional fossils between ape and man to back up evidence for
evolution.
In conclusion, you now see where I am coming from. Evolution is no better than the theory of
creation. But if you are going to teach the idea of one thing, at least show the competing theory and its
side. Then you wind up with everyone thinking it is all one sided, and that can make people upset. So
parents, teachers, staff, school boards, if you have a religion or beliefs, don t you want it to be heard.
Maybe even taught if there are other sides to it. I am asking that you all stand up for what you believe
in and make education

Elisa Confused Essay
Elisa Confused Like many short stories, John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums deceives most readers
by appearing to be a simple short story. The Chrysanthemums, which only occupies about eight pages
in textbooks, captures the emotional pain of a woman trying to live in the 1930 s. As critic Stanley
Renner wrote, The Chrysanthemums shows a strong capable woman kept from personal, social, and
sexual fulfillment by the prevailing conception of a woman s role in a world dominated by men
(Renner 306). Elisa Allen, the only female in The Chrysanthemums displays her sexual frustrations

Elisa then speaks about how she would be good at working in the orchards. Henry apparently feels
Elisa has spoken too much about masculine subjects because he resorts back to calling the
chrysanthemums simply flowers (221). This first scene between husband and wife sets the tone of the
entire story. Elisa s gestures and actions change as different words and topics are mentioned to her.
She feel s unimportant and inferior as a woman and strong enough to be a man. Soon after Henry
leaves to finish he work, the tinker is introduced into the story. Here is where Elisa s sexuality is
tested. Elisa s first reaction to the tinker is similar to that of a man s, for she resists giving him work
(Marcus 56). She show strong qualities as she tells the tinker she as no work for him. The tinker
begins to weaken Elisa, though, and eventually breaks her strong stance by using her pride and joy her
chrysanthemums. The tinker captures the beauty of the chrysanthemums in a poetic, feminine nature.
He describes them as a quick puff of colored smoke, which appeals to Elisa s feminine side. Suddenly,
Elisa begins to unveil her womanliness. She tears off her hat and shakes out her dark pretty hair
(Steinbeck 224). By being interested in Elisa s feminine flowers, the tinker makes Elisa comfortable
with her sexuality. Allowing her feminine nature to appear, Elisa becomes emotional vulnerable during
the business transaction involving her chrysanthemums. This is

Analyzing James Miller s Acting Our Culture
A picture says a thousand words. In Acting Our Culture , a book edited by James miller, we get this
representation clearly from Norman Rockwell and John Holyfield in their Thanksgiving visual
representation paintings. Both artist provide us with their own interpretation and view of the

these pieces are family, color, and culture the root of both paintings, this being what ties as well as
separates them as works of art.
The first thing you will notice between the paintings are the family s presented. The presence of their
relation is evident due to a few factors. In Rockwell we get the differences in age from the little kids
present at the table to the middle aged couple on the left side of the photo (Rockwell), then in
Holyfield s we get the same view of age difference across the table representing the occasion to be a
gathering of family. They also share the same main meal that being the turkey also with vegetables

1. Sacrament. A sacrament is a Christian site recognized as of particular importance and significance.
There are various views on the existence and meaning of such rites. Many Christians consider the
sacraments to be a visible symbol of the reality of god, as well as a means by which God enacts his
grace.

Using pathos is the most influential appeal. Lyndon B. Johnson played with the audience s emotions to
support his cause. A century has passed, more than a hundred years, since equality was promised. And
yet the Negro is not equal. This statement helps the whites contemplate about how rough African
Americans lived. One hundred years crept by with a promise that had not been fulfilled. Supplying the
truth then hitting the audience with emotions automatically convinces people to think the same way.
Another great patho used was, There is no Negro problem. There is no Southern problem. There is no
Northern problem. There is only an American problem. Using an anaphora, this statement groups
everyone into the same category, American. The repetition of, there is, catches the audience s
attention. Consequently, making the whites listen and start to contemplate the idea that blacks are

Canada s Economy Research Paper
Today, Canada s economy is about the 15th largest economy in the world. According to OEC, Canada
has the 11th largest exporter in the world. Exporting and trading has been a major characteristic of the
Canadian economy before Canada even became a country. Its economic history begins prior to
European colonization with First Nations societies commonly hunting and trading. Exporting will
always be a prominent aspect of Canada s economy. One characteristic about why Canada has one of
the world s largest economies is because Canada has a vast land that provides so many natural
resources that can be exploited and traded. Looking at how Canada s economy developed in its early
stages are important historically and economically for many reasons. Firstly, ... Show more content on

Canada s geographical location was in close proximity to places such as Europe and the United States.
It is also a country which has a land that is extremely abundant with natural resources that could be
exploited. It also featured an already established trade network between the Indigenous tribes and the
French and British who would trade for furs. These characteristics of Canada made European people
permanently settle and colonize the lands. As they became settled the Europeans began to exploit
Canada for its vast abundance of resources that they could trade. They would trade products such as
alcohol and weapons to the Aboriginals in exchange for their furs. That was the beginning of the Fur
Trade that became one of Canada s biggest industries to export all over. This settlement as well as the
Europeans who settled in the Atlantic region of Canada began to approach the fishing industry. Both
fishing and the fur trade became the foremost products of Canada well into the 19th century. One main
aspect that allowed these products and industries to flourish was the waterways that both products
depended on to be exported and traded. Mackintosh (1923) notes that the important area of Canada,
the Atlantic coast, was easily accessible by the first European settlers who took advantage of Canada s
structure, including the waterways, that was one of the most critical elements that allowed the country
to develop (p. 13). That structure shaped the course of westward progress; it facilitated or hindered the
connection of the frontier with the older settlements and with Europe; it selected to some extent its
own settlers; and together with other factors it determined the trend of industrial production
(Mackintosh, 1923, p. 12). The major waterways such as the St. Lawrence river and the Great Lakes
allowed the products to move westward and

Compare And Contrast Independent And Independent Parties
The United States government is mainly divided into two political parties, the Democratic Party and
the Republican Party, with other little parties beginning to branch out. The issues with the two main
parties is how opposite they are on everything. Whether it is the belief on taxes or abortion the
Democrats and the Republicans can never agree, therefore looking towards the Independent Party is
the way to make the United States government stronger. Declaring Independent gives someone the
right to pick and choose who they support based off their own views not just based off of the core
values of one party. The Independent Party best suits the United States because of its diverse beliefs
and openness to vote for any leader that they choose. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A citizen of the United States is guaranteed the right to life, liberty and property in both the
Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution. The Independent Party believes that
it is the government s responsibility to protect these rights, this is important because without those
rights life in the United States would be vastly different. Along with protecting citizens rights to
liberty the Independent party believe that private organizations have the right to determine their own
membership, employment and volunteers based on their own beliefs. The Independent party also
opposes legislation that allows the federal government to suspend our God given Rights or that
prevents the people from suing government agents for violating citizens civil or fundamental rights
during times of war, natural disasters, national emergencies, or declarations of martial law, etc. In
regards to the right to property the Independent Party believes that it is unconstitutional to deprive a
citizen of their right to property through

Art And The Holocaust
In just twelve years, a heinous vision executed nearly six million Jewish people at the hands of Hitler
and his followers, making the Holocaust debatably the most tragic and shameful event recorded in
Earth s history. During this time, different races, ethnicities, and religious groups were persecuted and
annihilated for their beliefs that conflicted with Hitler s persistence to eliminate the flaws of humanity.
Hitler and his followers had one goal in mind: to cultivate a master race for the next generation. Under
his guidance for Germany, countries were destroyed and millions were killed. Pain, death and
suffering for millions, put towards an effort that would forever haunt survivors, and leave future
generations struggling to grasp at understanding the past. As time has gone by, the number of
Holocaust survivors has been decreasing expeditiously and history seems to be slipping away from
one s fingertips; however, this specific strand of events and their survivor s legacy is continuing to
reside in the current era, especially through art and literature. Novels, poetry, paintings, films, and
other forms of art relating to the Holocaust quickly surfaced after the occurrence and still continue
today. Artists search for a catharsis from the atrocious genocide that seems to surround them. With this
newly spread genre of art, many critics rose up, like Adorno, a German philosopher, to prove that
these artistic representations were degrading to the survivors and the actual

I Can Remember Mine With Perfect Clarity Essay
As babies most of us go through some sort of traumatic experience. Whether it be a high fever from an
illness or a near miss car wreck. Nine times out of ten we never remember these incidents, with only
stories from relatives to know that they happened. I can remember mine with perfect clarity. At the age
of one year old, one day before my second birthday, I sat in my day care with my hands leaning back
looking up at the colorful displays. While it is illegal in North Carolina to not have heavy bookshelves
mounted to the ground, this day care had chosen to forgo that rule and use them as room dividers. A
little boy on the other side of the divider with sandy blond hair shoved his backpack into the cubby,
excited to go out and play among his friends. One of the poorly taken care of wheels on the bottom of
this bookshelf collapsed toppling over onto my hand, crushing almost every bone in the process and
partially severing two of my fingers on my left hand. After 3 blood transfusions, a life flight trip to
Duke Hospital, 3 later surgeries, and careful reconstruction, I am now left with a functioning hand
albeit slightly deformed on the two severed fingers. These incredible doctors were able to save the nail
bed although my middle finger curves over somewhat bent inward along with some scarring. This is
what life would be like for me with a perfect hand for three days.
Day one, I would wake up in my bed and sit up. I would excitedly run my fingers through my hair like

The power of kicking a ball predominantly comes from the knee straightening. This knee extension,

Host Rocks Essay
TYPE OF ROCK WHERE OPALS ARE FOUND
The New South Wales opal fields are all situated in arid inland areas, on ridges surrounded by black
soil plains. Opal deposits mainly occur in Cretaceous rocks formed 65 to 135 million years ago within
the Great Australian Basin. Opal is found at shallow depths in sedimentary rocks through which there
has been considerable silica seepage into cavities and other structures where gradual loss of water
from the silica gel has resulted in hardening of the material and the formation of opal.
Host rocks contained a variety of voids formed by the weathering process, which leached carbonate
from boulders, nodules, fossils, cracks, hollow centres of ironstone nodules and horizontal seams.
Most opaline silica deposited is common opal (or potch). It does ... Show more content on

Geological, geophysical or geochemical exploration techniques to locate the mining site
Opal mining at Lightning Ridge takes place within Opal Prospecting Areas (OPAs) which are within
the four opal prospecting area (OPAs 1 4) designated within the Narran Warrambool Reserve;
established over the Lightning Ridge Mineral Claims District in 1993, covering approximately 5000
square kilometres of land surrounding the Lightning Ridge opal fields.
The reserve was designed to protect the heritage of the small miner by preventing the granting of large
exploration licences and mining leases, effectively limiting operations to small scale mining.

Mount Everest Formation
bles
Term Paper
GEO 150
February 24, 2016
Introduction
Mount Everest is commonly know as the highest mountain on earth located in Nepal and Tibet in the
Mahalangur mountain range. With a peak of 8,848 meters or 29,029 feet above sea level, Mount
Everest is the location of the international border between China and Nepal neighboring with peaks
such as Lhoste, Nuptse and Changtse.
Rock Descriptions
The rocks that comprise Mount Everst are subdivided into three formations, each separated from one
another by low angle faults or detachments. The three formations consist of sedimentary and
metamorphic rocks and are the Qomolangma Formation, the North Col Formation and the Rongbuk
Formation. The Qomolangma formation is the top peak of the mountain ... Show more content on

The portion of the Qomolangma formation that is between 8,200 to the top of 8,600 is called the
yellow band. The reason it s called the yellow band is because of the Cambrian deposit and marble its
made up of which resembles a yellow pigment. In the North Col formation, mudstone, limestone and
sandstone are imbedded within each other as a result of the metamorphic stage. The base of this
formation is referred to as the Lhoste detachment and is a low angle normal fault. About 24 million
years ago when the Indian and the Asian planes collided, the Indian plane subducted as a result. From
this the Indian plateau was made which thus created the metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. We can
find these rocks faulted towards the south in an upward motion primarily due to the Cenozoic collision
of the two continents. The Many sills and dikes intrude the rocks in this formation as previously
mentioned as the Higher Himalayan leucogranite, which is formed by partial melting of
Paleoproterozoic to Ordovician high grade metasedimentary rocks. This melting inhibited the creation
of the Rongbuk formation by the pressure caused by the collision that forced the rocks into a
downward then back up direction. The heat of the melting under sea level then pushed the rocks to the
surface of the southern

  • 3. Personal Narrative On Christmas Nelles Oct. 9, 2017 ENL0078_320 Personal Narrative The air was crisp outside, it was nearing Christmas in our small little city named Belleville. Everyone seemed to be out and about finishing their last minute Christmas shopping and the city had a busy, but happy feel to it. The ground had a white blanket of snow on it that had just fallen during the early hours of the morning. My mom was taking me to the mall so that I could get pictures taken with Santa, one of my favourite parts about Christmas. As I was sitting in my car seat all bundled up in my snow suit, clutching my favourite stuffed bunny all I was fixated on was what to ask Santa for Christmas. I was 7 years old with big brown eyes that glared out the window with the unruliest hair you could ever imagine. As we stopped at our final red light before our destination, we both witnessed an extremely bad car wreck. It was one of those car wrecks that seem to happen in slow motion, so slow that you can almost scream Watch out! . All of a sudden, the women that I viewed as my ordinary suburban mom dashed out of our warm van to face the crisp, windy weather. That day she risked her life to save another. She was able to keep the driver of the SUV stable until the ambulance arrived. This was the first time I ever saw my mom as the true person she is. Selfless, courageous, she stepped in not even on a first name basis. She didn t know that person in the SUV and they didn t know her. That was the day that I decided I wanted ... But, Abner is also emotionally abusive to his family. Not only does the threat of him making them move harm Sarty emotionally, but also the fact that he has no problem abandoning Sarty really cuts Sarty deep. This can be seen after Abner strikes Sarty on the night of the Harrison case. Abner tells Sarty; You got to learn to stick to your own blood or you ain t going to have any blood to stick to you. (Faulkner, 28) This leads to the fact that Sarty is only a 10 year old boy and depends on his father to live. It s not like he could just go into town and make a living of his own as a child. So, not only is Sarty staying quiet to protect himself physically and emotionally, but he is also protecting his livelihood and way of life. Finally, Sarty s last motive to keep his father s crimes a secret is that he places the priority of his family s wellbeing over his own happiness. Furthermore, social and political thought suggests that spaces of remembrance encourage understanding, thought and reflection. Thus, it is thought that memory holds vast opportunities to mend the of frailty of human affairs. Good deeds, when reified into memories can be held up to be replicated, or possibly surpassed in the future. Yet the process of memorialisation is often contested, for the formation of memory can only occur in retrospect on behalf of someone or something. Public commemoration is a difficult process, as it simplifies and condenses complex stories at the cost of omitting others. Thus, spaces of remembrance can become spaces of contestation, and memory entails political risk. Memory presents a crucial tension in the network of ideas and action, which are both public and private. It is not only central to improving the frailty of human affairs, it is a dauntingly complex process weaved with intrinsically personal reflections, which, leads us to the fundamental paradox of memory. There are obvious cases of abuse and improper treatment of child laborers as there have been for years, and it is obvious that it is in no way beneficial to the children to work as they do. There then comes a question of whether or not something should be done and if so then what. Child labor is an issue rooted in the very idea that sometimes, the members of society have a responsibility to the rest of society to work for the good of those people who cannot work for themselves. The children involved never have and do not now possess the capability to seek change. This ability lies solely in the rest of society. Essay On All My Pretty Ones By Anne Sexton Crumbling under her myriad selves, Anne Sexton s poetry reveals through the journey of words the labyrinthine setting that resides inside a disturbed mind. Intimate, almost with a sense, similar to that of trespassing someone s private journals, her works bared her deepest and often darkest desires for the world to read, scrutinize and often condemn. Poetry for her was a recluse, a momentary escape route from her otherwise troubled mental state; keeping her more or less sane to survive the wild, twisted world she built around her. The genre of Confessional Poetry fit Sexton like a glove. She enrolled for workshops from Robert Lowell at the Boston University and made close acquaintances with the likes of Sylvia Plath and George Starbuck, meanwhile enhancing her only too verbally extrovert spirit. Throughout this paper, I am going to go into detail about how both of these exercises can be incorporated into various management concepts and theories that we as humans use every day. I will break both exercises down and elaborate on the four stages of Kolb s Model of the Learning Process, which are the Concrete Experience (feeling), Reflective Observation (watching), Abstract Conceptualization (thinking), and Active Experimentation (doing). Concrete Experience The first class exercise that we did in class was Bafa Bafa Exercise, in this exercise we were split into two groups, the Alpha and Beta culture. These groups were very different in a plethora of ways and had completely different ways of life. I was a member of the Alpha Culture; we were a very close knit society that had a very strong ... It was observed that all BA diesel fuel blends slightly increased the BSFC and the BTE at all BA blend ratios. The result indicated that BSFC increases as engine speed resulting in almost all engine speed due to the lower heating value of BA (31.4MJ/kg) compared with the heating value of diesel (41.3MJ/kg). Generally, the engine consumes more fuel with n butanol/diesel fuel blends comparing with reference diesel fuel to generate the same engine output torque because of the lower heat content of the fuel blends. As would expected, the BSFC increases with the increasing BA content in the fuel blends because of the decreased energy content. This increment in BSFC is similar trends that were reported in Refs. [20, 23, 24]. In spite of the fact that higher BSFC of n butanol/diesel fuel the enhancement, oxygen content of the fuel blends gives higher BTE. The improvement in BTE can be referred to the enhanced oxygen content, which helps improvement in combustion, particularly during the diffusion combustion phase. Attending A Music Concert At An Art Museum Think about the arts: they are omnipresent like air in daily life, from going to the movies to attending a music concert to visiting an art museum, with none of those activities being existent if it were not for the people who spent years perfecting those art forms for other s entertainment and enjoyment. The truth is, the arts have been embedded in human nature just like carvings on wood, and is a surviving and persisting tradition that can be traced to even the earliest culture and history that has proved itself to be a key factor for bringing the world together under common interests and art forms. One would think that the arts should be required in all education systems with their strong roots in the past and modern times, but the arts are still the first programs to be cut from schools on tight budgets, and are nonexistent in low income schools due to being dismissed as inferior to the more academic subjects. Even though the arts are more abstract, subjective, and lenient in subject areas, they are still the crucial link and passage to the world of creativity, imagination, and passion. The arts are irreplaceable subjects that should be maintained in schools because only they can provide a truly well rounded education to students, harnessing them with priceless skills that simply cannot be found in purely academic classes, while providing numerous benefits that no other programs can replace. Pawnee National Grasslands is one of the largest grasslands in the world, situated in Colorado, USA. It covers over 700 km2 of area, which means that it has one of the largest roles in shaping the environment in the surrounding area. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These pollutants can involve anything from pesticides to fine sediments to poisons. However, Grasslands act as natural water filters, helping prevent these pollutants from flowing down into waterways. How does this work? Purification is carried out by microbes such as bacteria or fungi in a biological process. However, this process only works well over time. Grasslands increase the time required for precipitation to reach rivers hence increasing the purity of the resulting water. However, if Pawnee National Grassland is replaced with roads and cities, the new impervious surfaces will cause the water to flow faster and are a source of even more pollutants. The cost of building a water filtration plant is around $6 8 billion, and it takes more than $300 million each year to operate it. So the choice is obvious to keep the free natural water filter rather than to build a costly unnecessary replacement. On the same note, not only will Pawnee National Grassland slow down the flow of water hence increase the purity of the water, but the slower run off also allows the grassland to act as a flood stop limiting the amount of water which can reach rivers like a sponge. If grasslands and native vegetation are kept and allowed to regenerate there will also be no need for expensive solutions for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I thought I would focus on one aspect of this by looking at the effects of salt pollution on duckwed. Hopefully by finding out more about our effects on the environment we can discover ways to preserve it. Aim: To find out what effects growing in waters of different salinity will have on the growth of duckweed. Hypothesis: The duckweed will show a small growth increase with very low levels of salinity and then will show a decline in growth rate as the levels of salinity increase. Planned methodology: Collect a sample pool of duckweed, and measure out an equal amount into 5 different containers. Place an increasing amount of salt into the first 4 containers and no salt in the 5th container as a control. Monitor the growth of the duckweed for 2 weeks. Methodology · Collect samples of duckweed. · Prepare 5 beakers with 500 ml of water each. · Count 5 duckweed fronds into each beaker. · Place 1ml of salt in the first beaker, 2ml in the second, 4 ml in the third, 8ml in the fourth and none in the fifth. · Place each sample into it s own beaker of water and label them according to the amount of salt in each. Label the beaker with no salt control · Place each beaker by a window where they will each get equal amounts of sunlight. · monitor the relative growth rate of each sample by measuring the size of each frond compared to the beginning size. Measure once every two days. · Record your results. Experiment 1 The original experiment was a failure, as the method of measuring duckweed by surface area was inefficient and inaccurate. The minimum amount of salt (2.5ml) added to the samples, turned out to be enough to kill all the duckweed, allowing no comparison to be made of the growth rate. In the second attempt I will count out a smaller, but exact, number of duckweed fronds which will make counting growth easier and more accurate. I will also use smaller amounts of salt (0.5 1.5 ml) The duckweed was found to have a very slight growth rate increase with the addition of 1 ml of salt, (confirming the statement in source 1) however when any more salt was added the duckweed showed a decline in growth rate, culminating with the ... She feel s unimportant and inferior as a woman and strong enough to be a man. Soon after Henry leaves to finish he work, the tinker is introduced into the story. These characteristics of Canada made European people permanently settle and colonize the lands. As they became settled the Europeans began to exploit Canada for its vast abundance of resources that they could trade. They would trade products such as alcohol and weapons to the Aboriginals in exchange for their furs. That was the beginning of the Fur Trade that became one of Canada s biggest industries to export all over. This settlement as well as the Europeans who settled in the Atlantic region of Canada began to approach the fishing industry. Both fishing and the fur trade became the foremost products of Canada well into the 19th century. One main aspect that allowed these products and industries to flourish was the waterways that both products depended on to be exported and traded. This is the biggest joint action in football, as it starts as an extension and finishes with a significant push forward going past the body s midline. To allow hip flexion to occur, your three hamstring muscles semitendinosus, semimembranosus and biceps femoris must relax. Tight hamstrings may effect your tecniwue and ability to ... • 47. Host Rocks Essay TYPE OF ROCK WHERE OPALS ARE FOUND The New South Wales opal fields are all situated in arid inland areas, on ridges surrounded by black soil plains. Opal deposits mainly occur in Cretaceous rocks formed 65 to 135 million years ago within the Great Australian Basin. Opal is found at shallow depths in sedimentary rocks through which there has been considerable silica seepage into cavities and other structures where gradual loss of water from the silica gel has resulted in hardening of the material and the formation of opal. Host rocks contained a variety of voids formed by the weathering process, which leached carbonate from boulders, nodules, fossils, cracks, hollow centres of ironstone nodules and horizontal seams. Most opaline silica deposited is common opal (or potch). It does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Geological mapping of the opal fields has shown that the sandstone is thickest in areas that have produced large amounts of opal. Opal is rarely produced from areas in which the sandstone is thin or absent. 2.2 OPAL PROSPECTING METHODS1 Geological, geophysical or geochemical exploration techniques to locate the mining site Opal mining at Lightning Ridge takes place within Opal Prospecting Areas (OPAs) which are within the four opal prospecting area (OPAs 1 4) designated within the Narran Warrambool Reserve; established over the Lightning Ridge Mineral Claims District in 1993, covering approximately 5000 square kilometres of land surrounding the Lightning Ridge opal fields. The reserve was designed to protect the heritage of the small miner by preventing the granting of large exploration licences and mining leases, effectively limiting operations to small scale mining. 1 ... • 48. Mount Everest Formation bles Term Paper GEO 150 February 24, 2016 Introduction Mount Everest is commonly know as the highest mountain on earth located in Nepal and Tibet in the Mahalangur mountain range. With a peak of 8,848 meters or 29,029 feet above sea level, Mount Everest is the location of the international border between China and Nepal neighboring with peaks such as Lhoste, Nuptse and Changtse. Rock Descriptions The rocks that comprise Mount Everst are subdivided into three formations, each separated from one another by low angle faults or detachments. The three formations consist of sedimentary and metamorphic rocks and are the Qomolangma Formation, the North Col Formation and the Rongbuk Formation. The Qomolangma formation is the top peak of the mountain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The portion of the Qomolangma formation that is between 8,200 to the top of 8,600 is called the yellow band. The reason it s called the yellow band is because of the Cambrian deposit and marble its made up of which resembles a yellow pigment. In the North Col formation, mudstone, limestone and sandstone are imbedded within each other as a result of the metamorphic stage. The base of this formation is referred to as the Lhoste detachment and is a low angle normal fault. About 24 million years ago when the Indian and the Asian planes collided, the Indian plane subducted as a result. From this the Indian plateau was made which thus created the metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. We can find these rocks faulted towards the south in an upward motion primarily due to the Cenozoic collision of the two continents. The Many sills and dikes intrude the rocks in this formation as previously mentioned as the Higher Himalayan leucogranite, which is formed by partial melting of Paleoproterozoic to Ordovician high grade metasedimentary rocks. This melting inhibited the creation of the Rongbuk formation by the pressure caused by the collision that forced the rocks into a downward then back up direction. The heat of the melting under sea level then pushed the rocks to the surface of the southern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
