Human Condition
One of the reasons the movement is so difficult to define is because many of these thinkers have
differing views on what the human condition is, which is at the center of the study of existentialism.
Something that is found to be common between many existentialist, though, is their consistent and
utter rejection to any and all systems, theories and organizational constructs that attempt to answer the
question of the human condition, and give value to our existence in a comprehensive approach
whether they are based in religion, science or philosophy.
One of the most historically outstanding systems which claims to explain some core existential
questions about the human condition is religion. Religion was something that filled the void of the
existential question for as long as humanity has existed, and alleviate the concern of creating meaning
and purpose. Existentialist thinkers have adopted the belief that following organized ... Show more

Oftentimes, constructs such as religion offer a partial experience, often such systems will see the
meaning and purpose to life as somehow emanating from an alternative, objective realm, such as
heaven. However; in doing so they lose sight of the perspective of what life is like for an individual
living on this earth and experiencing all the fears, anxieties, hopes and disappointments that are a part
of the human condition. For example, many of the mass organized religions often provide answers to
many of the vexing questions of life from the perspective of an all knowing and all powerful God,
whose word is thought to be communicated to us through prophets. However, existentialists stress that
what we most need is not a divine perspective of the human condition, but a human perspective, for as
Nietzsche put it we are ultimately, much to his chagrin, human, all too

Gender Dysphoria, By Magnus Hirschfield
Notes on articles
Gender dysphoria, also known as transsexualism, is the incongruence between gender and biological
sex. Biological males who are gender dysphoric receive treatment with estrogens and anti androgens
to become feminized, while gender dysphoric biological females will receive androgen treatments to
become masculinized. Many adolescents diagnosed with this condition are given hormones to
suppress puberty to make the process easier. Social marginalization and barriers to proper care are
typical issues for people with gender dysphoria.
Many cultures historically have cross gender identities, for example, Native Americans call these
individuals two spirit persons, and in India, physiological males with feminine gender identity are
called hijras. The term transvestism was coined by Magnus Hirschfield in 1910. Endocrinologist
Harry Benjamin pioneered clinical management and proposed treatment protocol for these individuals.
Much confusion exists between the terms transvestite, transgender, and transsexual. A transvestite is a
heterosexual male who wears traditionally feminine clothing. The layman term for transvestite is cross
dresser . A transgender person is one who experiments in dual male and female roles opposite to birth
gender. In contrast to both, a transsexual is a person with the condition gender dysphoria who changes
their physical, natal gender to the opposite gender.
Transsexualism is a psychiatric diagnosis. In the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual

Persuasive Essay On No Homework
s kids return to school, debate is heating up once again over how they should spend their time after
they leave the classroom for the day.
The no homework policy of a second grade teacher in Texas went viral last week, earning praise from
parents across the country who lament the heavy workload often assigned to young students. Brandy
Young told parents she would not formally assign any homework this year, asking students instead to
eat dinner with their families, play outside and go to bed early.
But the question of how much work children should be doing outside of school remains controversial,
and plenty of parents take issue with no homework policies, worried their kids are losing a potential
academic advantage. Here s what you need to know:

The issue
For decades, the homework standard has been a 10 minute rule, which recommends a daily maximum
of 10 minutes of homework per grade level. Second graders, for example, should do about 20 minutes
of homework each night. High school seniors should complete about two hours of homework each
night. The National PTA and the National Education Association both support that guideline.
But some schools have begun to give their youngest students a break. A Massachusetts elementary
school has announced a no homework pilot program for the coming school year, lengthening the
school day by two hours to provide more in class instruction. We really want kids to go home at 4 o
clock, tired. We want their brain to be tired, Kelly Elementary School Principal Jackie Glasheen said
in an interview with a local TV station. We want them to enjoy their families. We want them to go to
soccer practice or football practice, and we want them to go to bed. And that s it.
A New York City public elementary school implemented a similar policy last year, eliminating
traditional homework assignments in favor of family time. The change was quickly met with outrage
from some parents, though it earned support from other education leaders.
New solutions and approaches to homework differ by community, and these local debates are
complicated by the fact that even education experts disagree about what s best for kids.

Arab Americans Essay
Like other ethnic minority groups in America, Arab Americans face daily challenges in their overall
development and well being. These challenges take the form of discrimination, stereotyping, and
general negative reactions to them as an ethnic group. Arabs, Arab Americans, and Muslims are often
stereotyped in movies as sheiks, barbarians, or terrorist. As many Muslim Americans are visibly
culturally distinct, it would be of value to explore whether attitudes of non Muslims toward Muslim
Americans resemble attitudes expressed by European non Muslims toward members of these minority
groups. Biases The cultural bias in reporting is prevalent in major US media outlets. For example, on
1 October US news station, NBC reported that three US soldiers and several Afghans were killed in a
suicide attack in Afghanistan. Viewers were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
American counselors often do not have an understanding of Arab culture which goes beyond the
stereotyping in the popular media. There may be more acceptances to holistic approaches that
incorporate family and religious or social community. The counselor needs to be open exploring
spiritual beliefs, and the use of prayer, or fasting to reduce stress. Cognitive behavioral strategies
might be productive. Intervention needs to be sensitive and culturally relevant such as generation in
the USA, social class, the environment the client lives/grew up in. Because of the role of fate in the
teachings of Islam, Arab Americans are thought to be survival oriented rather than insight oriented.
Some authors suggest that therapies focused on insight tend to be ineffective and counterproductive
with this population and can be highly anxiety provoking because of the conflicts between individual
versus collective forces (Al Abdul Jabbar Al Issa, 2000). Arab Americans should be given the
opportunity to meet with a same sex counselor (Eric,

The Dred Scott Decision, And Abraham Lincoln
During the early 17th century slavery was being practiced in the South for over 350 years. They were
forced to work the production of tobacco, crops, and later cotton. When the cotton grin was evented in
1793 along with the growing demand product in Europe. The slaves had become a use to the South
and it formed a foundation for their economy. Going into the late 18th century there were problems
with slavery and they are the abolitionist movement, the Missouri Compromise, the Dred Scott
Decision, and Abraham Lincoln. The first issue was abolitionist movement wanted to end slavery and
that was because colonist in the North didn t want slaves to be part of the society unlike the colonist in
the South. With that going on it started to divide the country really bad, by the 1830s many settlers
was saying that slavery was a good thing and a lot of other settlers didn t believe that. As time went
the country grew worse and worse by the da, until eventually segregated by the settlers who want
slaves and who didn t, another reason would be that slaves were counted as three fifths of a vote for
the purpose of population and representation in the House of Representatives. The Constitution also
prohibited the importation of slaves that begin in 1808, but have to manage without using the words
slave or slavery. The last reason is that with the improvements of the cotton grin and the sewing
machine increased the demand of slave labor in the US especially in the South. The

Racial Discrimination Is A Big Social Issue Today
Racial discrimination is a big social issue today, especially with the president elect, Donald Trump in
office. According to Timothy Mcgettigan in the article, Donald Trump and White Racism declares, the
2016 presidential election has become a national referendum on racism . Throughout his campaign, he
has made it clear, his disgust towards immigrants, Hispanic communities and minorities. Trump has
stereotyped hispanics by using food stamps, crime, unpaid taxes and living songerly. It has brought
people together in protest and discrimination. Racism takes on and blinds the history and roots that
occurred in the past. People of color deserve respect and should not face discriminatory treatment.

demonstrate the still existence of discrimination to minorities after past slavery events. It took years of
bitter and divisive struggles to change this kind of broad discrimination ... blood was spilled, it was
shocking to observe the degree of racial prejudice among people (Carter). The saddest part of it all is,
history repeats.
When has, anyone heard someone give an uplifting comment to a Hispanic. On the news, we see the

they themselves do not want. The most common jobs for a Mexican are landscaping and working in
the fields, it has never been anyone s dream job yet. In addition it can lead to economic effects.
Hispanics are overworked and underpaid, which gives goods at a cheaper cost. Without those latinos,
goods would increase. Latinos are not all Mexican, but people assume they are. Chicanos make up
most of the population. Can you imagine no diversity in the U.S.? It will leave a lot of empty space.

Totalitarian Government In George Orwell s Big Brother Is...
In 1984, Big Brother Is Watching You. One could not take two steps without bumping into a poster of
a stern looking man seeming to stare into the soul of the viewer. Big Brother acts as a Godlike figure
to the citizens of Oceania, a super nation constantly at war with the two super nations. The
government of Oceania, the Party, keeps citizens in a vice like grip through constant surveillance and
laws placed on every aspect of human existence. The only loyalty allowed is to the Party. They control
the past, the present, and the future through its command over anything and everything. The
government set up in 1984 directly reflects that of a totalitarian government. Totalitarianism as it
exists in George Orwell s 1984 exhibits key features which bare striking resemblance to modern
governments. The first feature of a totalitarian government is unification against a dangerous enemy.
The Party in 1984 uses The Two Minutes Hate to give the people something or someone to be mad at.
It is a ritual performed by the members of the Outer Party, as pictures are displayed for the people to
scream and curse at. Its purpose is to strengthen the Party s position. If the people feel a lack of
control over their own lives, they are able to channel that into hate of the evil Emmanuel Goldstein
and East and Eurasia. During one of the rituals, Winston explains that although he had not originally

Analysis Of Aetna s Workplace Culture
Culture
Aetna s workplace culture stands as a model to other organizations, regardless if they are an insurance
company or not. The CEO s mantra on having a successful workplace simply states let s invest in our
people (Aetna CEO: Let s, 2015). Bertolini himself was no stranger to struggle in his personal life,
having his son beat an incurable cancer as well as he himself getting into a skiing accident where he
was given his last rites (O Donnell, 2015). Having gone through these life altering events, his outlook
on how employees should be treated and the resources they should have access to surpasses those of
other organizations. This prompted open communication between all employees, allowing for
everyone to freely speak what they thought of their work conditions. Enabling employees to have
more input on decisions strengthens their alliance to the company and also makes them feel like they
are a valued piece of the organization. The most talked about change for the betterment of employees
by far was his announcement to raise the minimum wage to $16, in addition to lowering out of pocket
costs for their health care without having to pay more in premiums (O Donnell, 2015). This
demonstration of how the company cares about its employees went over wonderfully with the low
wage workers, as they now have a higher take home pay, as well as better health insurance coverage
from their organization which they could not previously afford. To go along with increasing wages,

A Short Story Of Sleet
It was a dark, gloomy day in the Lamar Valley. Sleet, trotting along slowly, came across the fence
marking the exit of Yellowstone Park. He immediately backed away from it and started the way from
which he came. All his life he was told to stay away from the fence. The wolves feared the fence for
the fence showed the unknown. It was the fact that beyond the fence was unknown that they feared.
Sleet, being a reddish, blackish wolf, was very curious about this fence. For there were stories of
wolves who traveled beyond the fence, and never returned. They figured the wolves had been killed.
But something about these stories confused him. How would they know that they never returned
because they were killed? They could have still been alive and stayed past the fence because there was
good! He erased this thought from his mind and continued on his way. Sleet was walking along slowly
when he came across a fresh trail that sent his hair on his back bristling. He crouched low to the
ground and showed his teeth. He was being watched. He saw gleaming eyes through the bushes
surrounding him. He was trapped. Sleet growled menacingly. The wolf pack around him drew closer.
He now knew that he was in danger. He submissively rolled onto his back with feet up above him in
the air. This was embarrassing for him. He came from a bloodline of strong wolves who let nothing
get in their way and who instead of gaining fear, they inflicted it upon others. Sleet, now rolling back
onto his 4 feet,

The Resilience Of Energy Supply Chain
INTRODUCTION
In the era of globalisation supply chains are getting more lengthy and complex hence they are now
more vulnerable to disruptions. The resilience of energy supply chain by Luca Urciuoli, Sangeeta
Mohanty, Juha Hintsa and Else Gerine Boekesteijn Accepted on 24 September,2013 takes in account
how various companies take preventions against supply chain disruptions or security threats and how
they manage their supply chain in case a disruption occurs, it also exchanges views on European union
support mechanisms and interactions with the oil and gas companies along with the improvements that
can be made by the union in order to make supply chains more robust . In this essay I will discuss the

As suggested by the article to keep reserve stocks for up to 90 days of supply. For example, in Baji a
major oil refinery was set on fire by ISIS forces who were controlling this refinery in the past. This oil
refinery was one o the major oil production companies in the country. In such cases small safety
stocks will finish in a few days, so only keeping reserve stocks may not be the solution . World s 60
percent oil reserves are in middle east where these types of incidents occur (Critchlow,
2015).Deciding the perfect amount of safety stock is very critical and depends on various factors like
company sales ,forecasts and transportation risks.
In case of natural disaster or a major disruptions various strategies can be used to prevent loses. As the
article suggests alternate product design can be used in case of disruption ,this approach is practical
and was used by many companies in the past. For instance, In March,2000 after a major electronic
company caught fire in Mexico both Nokia and Ericson were facing component shortage . Instead of
waiting for the product Nokia changed the product design and sourced different component from other
suppliers while Ericson on the other hand lost millions because of this

How Did Alexander Hamilton Impact Society
Alexander Hamilton made a huge impact on society. He did many things that make us who we are
today. Working with stocks, bonds, and banks does not capture our imaginations like the adventures of
a great general such as George Washington ( DeCarolis, 5). He was one of the founding fathers.
Alexander Hamilton also made the first National Bank. Another thing he did was he made the New
York Evening Post. Today we still have these things. He has done many other things that have made
an impact on our lives today.

He then sadly died on July 12. This is also very similar to the way his son died. Alexander Hamilton
has done many great things. If he didn t create some of the things that he did,our lives would be very

bank, it would be more likely for a person to get robbed. Alexander Hamilton also made the first
newspaper. Today we still use the same newspaper. This is how people still learn about what is
happening in the world. Today many people use the internet to get their information. I know many
people to this day that still read the newspaper. Alexander Hamilton was very important in the creating
of our country. He did many things to help and support us. Alexander Hamilton helped George
Washington in the Revolutionary War. If he didn t help, we could have lost the battle and The United
States might not be ours. He is one of the most important people in founding our country. We have a
monument in his honor. He accomplished more things than most of the other people back then. He

Emergency Preparedness Is Not Full Proof
Do you believe we could ever be fully prepared for all natural disasters to avoid the meltdown that
occurred at the Fukushima nuclear power plant? Why or why not?
As history has depicted Emergency preparedness is not full proof, even with the best technology. It is
impossible to predict the magnitude, timing and the aftermath of all natural disasters. However, the
leaders of the nuclear plant such as the Fukushima nuclear plant must be cognizant, of the importance
of emergency preparedness through simulation of different possible scenarios, it seems the company
was overconfident in their ability to keep their nuclear materials contained within the their designated
areas. Sadly, such assumptions resulted in one of the worst disasters in Japan s history. Prior to the
Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster, the executives were warned about the inadequacy of the wall
built to prevent water from spilling from the ocean onto the complex. Most scientists had feared that
the barrier protecting the nuclear complex was not strong enough to endure huge waves in the event of
a strong Tsunami, and their fears came to light on March 11, 2011.
Overall, one cannot be fully prepared for a disaster such the Fukushima nuclear meltdown because
there is always the slim chance that nature may through a curve ball, but efforts must be made by
establishments to make sure all possible scenarios are addressed in emergency preparedness protocol.

Stalin s Propaganda Essay
Stalin used propaganda during his rise to power and throughout his reign in power. Propaganda is
information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement,
institution, or nation. It is solely used in hopes to achieve a more positive and willing working class,
through posters, information and street speeches, Stalin eventually and skillfully over his people. Josef
Stalin used propaganda as a tool to brainwash the Russian people to think he was a man of character,
integrity and power. People of different ages/ranges of age were manipulated by Stalin s propaganda
every day of their lives. Anywhere anyone went; it was inevitable that there would be a picture or

He was given many titles, such as Father of Nations , Coryphaeus of Science , Brilliant Genius of
Humanity , Great Architect of Communism , and Gardener of Human Happiness . Stalin s name was
even included in the Russian National Anthem. (Kral) All of these aspects led to complete control of
the public and the clouding of their judgment. The public was brainwashed by Stalin s manipulative
powers every day of their lives. Adults were told about the significance of Stalin, and they passed this
knowledge onto their children. This is also known as word of mouth; parents taught their children that
Stalin was the wisest man of the age; teachers told their students that Stalin was the wisest man of the
age, and the news told their listeners that Stalin was the wisest man of the age. Stalin used 7 main
ways to spread his advertisements: posters, art, literature, film, news, education, and youth groups.
(Kral) Adults absorbed most of this propaganda, since it was in the news, on posters in the streets and
in films, Stalin did not have to focus too much on the older generations. However, he did focus on the
youth and children of the era, because they were the next generation of businessmen and military men.
In the youth groups the children were instructed to follow

Drug Legalization Essay
If drugs would to be legalized, there will have to be new set of laws to be follow. The major problem
with our society as in now, is the spending in drug wars. According to Gary E. Johnson in The Case
for Drug Legalization states how ...We are spending $150 billion a year to combat drugs. This also
includes spending in such as courts, jails , and police. But we should also consider, if drugs were to be
legalized, It ll be easier for the government to control and they will be able to tax the usage of drugs.
Especially, the legalization of drugs will help spend money on other things such as education, public
schools, emergency services and will save a lot of finance instead of spending on tracking down drug
lords. Nowadays drugs are being sold nationwide through black marketing and a lot of people could
get hands on , which cause competition between others drug lords, cartels and violence is erupted. I
believe if drugs were to be legalized , it would tremendously drop crime, murder, addiction to certain
drugs, and the government would regulate and tax drugs.
Second of all, the black market has been going for a while and it s used to sell illegal goods as a
underground economy, and many people buy drugs that aren t legal. This market gets by not being
taxed all and many people can get hands on drugs that can really be deleterious to themselves and
other people around them. If we would to legalize drugs , the black market would drop business and
the government would be able to track down who buys the drugs by having only stores that sell least
harmful drugs such as marijuana. For most, not all drugs should be legalized because of the dangerous
usage of drugs to the body especially if it s a first time taking in drugs. According to the article
Addiction Center.com explains that Over 90% of those with an addiction began drinking, smoking or
using illicit drugs before the age of 18. Even though with laws that enforce illegal drug usage, many
people take advantage of it because it s not easily to be find so they become addicted to small drugs
and eventually build up to using stronger drugs such as Psychedelic

Notes On Credit Rating Agencies
Literature review:
Dror Pranes (2008) said that the participants of the market have a divergent expectation. But they can
be classified as optimistic or pessimistic based on set of knowledge. He also argues that the credit
rating announcement does not give any undisclosed information to the investors or the market. It only
attempts to homogenize the investor s belief.
According to Adelson (2012) credit rating plays a vital role in providing an independent opinion about
the creditworthiness of the issuer and bridging the gap between lenders and borrowers. Lazarescu
(2003) says standardising the value judgement in relation to borrowers in the current scenario of
globalisation is contributed by credit rating agency.
De Haan and Amtenbrink(2011) argued that there are flaws in the use of credit rating agencies
judgement in regulation and accounting. The agencies have a substantial impact on the bonds and their
interest. But when the bond is downgraded it is harmful. There will be herd behaviour among
investors trying to liquidate investment. Additionally Mathis (2009) said that the construction of issuer
pays is a critical problem which may result in conflict of interest. This will make the issuers to shop
the ratings. They will go for the rating agency that provides the most favourable rating.
Journal of common market studies (2012) explains that the rating agencies suffer from shortcomings.
The rating agencies maintain transparency about the data sources and the indicators.

In this first quarter, I used a name High tech for my new company. I choose this name is because the
company is about computers and high technology can totally represent the meaning.
B. Target Market:
At the point of Q1,I chose the workhorse as my first target segment. This is because workhouse is the
medium kind of computer, customers will be much more than the other two. People talked about easy
to use, low price, after sale service and support and other staffs to pick computers.

Why Is Mercl Benz An Innovator
1. Attention getter: According to Forbes, Mercedes Benz is the #16 World Most Valuable Brands. The
founder of Mercedes Benz, Karl Benz, back to 130 years ago when there were only horse drawn
carriage, he pioneered and innovated the first practical automobile powered by an internal combustion
engine at Mannheim. Karl Benz is a very great mechanical engineer during the 19th century (Bellis.

His persistence of spending years to develop new type of engine is my inspiration for guiding me not
to give up easily especially during hard times. Whenever he failed to build the little gas engine in the
tricycle, or whenever he was about to give up on developing the horseless carriage, his wife, Bertha is
the one who pushed him to continue (Auer, G. 2006). After he finished his first creation of combustion
internal engine which was received a patent in the year of 1879, he did not give up of his old passion
of creating a horseless carriage. In 1886, he finished and granted a patent for his creation of the
horseless carriage vehicle which he named it as Benz Patent Motorwagen. The car was first driven in
Mannheim (Carl Benz Academy, 2011). Besides that, Karl Benz s motivation of upgrading the
specification of Benz Patent Motorwagen is one of the reasons that really inspired me to learn to
improve. When Benz was testing on Motorwagen, it often attracted many onlookers who laughed
mockingly when it crashed against the wall because it was difficult to control in the beginning of time.
After he received the patent on Motorwagen, he improved and upgraded the Motorwagen to 2nd
generation which is Motor 2 and also Motor 3 (4to40 Encyclopedia,

The Chernobyl Explosion
Many Russian political heads have claimed, RBMK plants...will never be built again, largely due to
safety concerns of the past and current reactors [10]. As discussed previously the RBMK s had several
reactor features that made it difficult to justify their operation. Most importantly, the reactors
generated excess neutrons during operation which upon further study led to the super criticality that
caused the Chernobyl explosion. While Russia suggests that the explanation of the plants failure was
ultimately only due to the failure to follow safe operations of shutdown procedures, other studies
performed post incident suggest that the reactors were inherently technologically unsafe [11]. The
most significant issue with the RBMK design was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite these modifications, the RBMK reactors continue to have problems. One site in particular, the
Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, has had multiple issues in the last few years. In 2013, the graphite
moderator was operating improperly due to deformities and cracks in its graphite moderator core.
These types of moderator failures have the potential to lead to larger problems, such as the ones
identified after the Chernobyl incident. Therefore, the reactor was shut down for an 18 month period
in order to repair the deformed moderator [12]. The 18 month project included research and
experimentation with reactor operating and monitoring procedures, and will lead to the discovered
solutions implementation on all existing RBMK reactors in the future. Despite this solution, the
Leningrad RBMKs shut down again for multiple days in October 2015 due to a minor storm that blew
seaweed into the reactor s water supply intake [13]. The reactor faced no issues except for minor
production delays and its automatic SCRAM procedures went off without issue; however, the fact that
a minor natural occurrence caused a shutdown of the reactor raised eyebrows to the reactors true
safety. It should be noted that water intake caused shutdowns have occurred internationally, yet they
face specific scrutinization when involved with the RBMK reactors [13].
Extension Opposition
Due to fears of safety, there are many who oppose the maintenance of RBMK reactors, especially at
the Leningrad

Interpretation In Ford Madox Ford s The Good Soldier
Within the novel The Good Soldier, by Ford Madox Ford, narration serves as an imperative framing
mechanism for propelling the plot of the story, while also generating the fragmentation necessary for
maintaining the unclarity that pervades John s story. By both subtly positioning the narrator John
Dowell as an outsider relative to the other characters, and consequently emphasizing the notion of
being outside, Ford facilitates a pointillistic representation of the infidelities that characterize his story.
Not only does Ford distance Dowell from the other characters in his narrative, but he also prompts the
reader to reject John as an omnipotent, reliable source, thereby provoking the former to rely on
interpretation as the primary means for finding resolution. Emphasizing several factors that distinguish
John from the other characters, such as his nationality, his inclusion in and knowledge of the
infidelitous relationships, his personality type, his future reflective standpoint, and his tendency to
infuse his current attitudes and nostalgia into his retelling of this story, Ford employs narration as the
essential mechanism for framing the story.
Initially denoting both his position as an outsider, and his efforts to justify the abhorrent, adulterous,
behavior of Edward Ashburnham and Florence, Dowell frames himself as an American who is merely
observing British culture. While establishing himself within his story, Dowell claims that the
adulterous affair is, I believe, a state of things only possible with English people of whom, till today,
when I sit down to puzzle out what I know of this sad affair, I knew nothing whatever, proceeding to
concede that Six months ago [he] had never been to England (Ford, 13). That Ford notes this
distinction on the first page of the narrative forces the reader to immediately consider John as a
relative outsider in the story, a notion that is compounded by the latter s constantly identifying cultural
differences between himself and the Ashburnhams. By conceding that he had not even traveled to
England prior to his experience with the Ashburnhams, Dowell implicitly frames their cultural
differences as responsible for Edward Ashburnham s infidelitous tendencies and Leonora s

The Great Man Theory Was A Popular 19th Century Idea
Traditionally teams are built by putting a group of people together without considering many traits or
characteristics about those people, then expecting them to work together in a productive manner.
Often times this does not work well at all, particularly if the person in charge is unfamiliar with the
team concept themselves. Teams have to be cohesive in their ability to make decisions and handle
projects within their organization. Sometimes cohesiveness causes team members who are not adept at
working with others to push back at the team and this causes friction within the team. Team building
models have been developed over the years to make teams work.
The problem of working teams has been something that researcher and theorists have been studying
for years. Many of these researchers and theorists have developed a standard way to develop teams
and team skills. A plethora of team development books have been written and team consulting firms
have popped up all over the world. The Great Man Theory was a popular 19th century idea according
to which history can be largely explained by the impact of great men , using their power in a way that
had a decisive historical impact. These great men always had impressive results from their teams
because of their leadership qualities. The historian Thomas Carlyle enforced this theory with his
statement The history of the world is but the biography of great men. According to Carlyle, effective
leaders are those gifted with

Flowers And The Symbol Of Flowers
A symbol of purity, innocence or life, when connected to the motivation of a character, flowers have
the ability to demonstrate a character s emotions and behaviors in a way that describing a character s
physical and emotional appearance cannot. Vibrant flowers symbolize aspiration and determination
while a wilted or destroyed flower represents a somber and heartbroken attitude toward life. The motif
of the flowers in Paul s Case and The Chrysanthemums represent the progression of the characters
hope and dreams.
In the opening scene of Paul s Case, the author notes the vibrant, red carnation that Paul wears to his
disciplinary meeting and consequently the teacher s distaste of what they believe the flower
symbolizes referring to it as a, scandalous red carnation and how, his whole attitude was symbolized
by...his flippantly red carnation flower (Cather 114). A defiant student, shown by his disrespect toward
his teachers, Paul seems unfazed to the fact that he is in a disciplinary meeting choosing to act
indifferent to what his teachers say about him. He is arrogant consequently holding himself to a higher
status than his teachers thus causing him to feel entitled. The red carnation symbolizes his idealistic
view of society in which he had hopes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Love Story Of Jack And Rose
The main fictional aspect of the film was the love story between Jack and Rose, two people who never
actually traveled on the Titanic, or even existed. James Cameron envisaged the entire concept of this
love story during pre production, and uses the idea to manipulate the audience throughout the entire
film. Character development in the film was vital, as this led the audience to care for what actually
happened to these people. The death of 1500 people was tragic, but without key characters the
audience feels no strong connection to what happens in the film. To make this connection even more
effective, he uses a flashback and framing technique in the telling of the love story. He begins the
story in the present day for the starting proportion of the film. He then uses a flashback sequence to
1912 for the majority of the rest, and then cuts back to the present day for the concluding part of the
film. He also visits the present day a few times briefly during the main chunk of the movie set in 1912,
to make important links between the two different aged Roses . The first 25 minutes of the film are
shot entirely in the present day. The old Rose is shown as a feeble old woman who is being flown out
to help a deep sea recovery team in the finding of a priceless diamond necklace. A drawing recovered
from the ship of Rose by her lover Jack is shown to the old Rose. The emotions shown by the actress
playing her on the sight of this picture conveys highly effectively to the

An Analysis of Ironweed: Victim or warrior?
In William Kennedy s novel Ironweed, the story is set in Albany, New York, during the 1930 s
otherwise known as the Great Depression. In the story, the main character Francis Phelan lives as a
bum and can be described as a classic antihero on a lengthy quest for forgiveness from both the living
and the dead. It is the story of one man s physical and emotional struggle for survival and redemption
as the guilt from his dark past become ghosts in his everyday life. He is a murderer, an alcoholic and is
constantly running away from his responsibilities. Despite these flaws, he comes across as a kind and
genuine person as he attempts to save his friends and finally returns to the family he once deserted. ...

increasing the chances of one being homeless as jobs went under and unemployment rates rose
significantly. This lasted more than a decade and many were compelled to leave their homes in search
of job opportunities (Dupuis 1) Although this was the case, Francis Phelan was not homeless because

civil liberties and national security though he knew it is hard. And U.S. government gave weight to
national security excessively in my opinion. I think, however, the U.S. government has to protect civil

Who Is John s Identity In Brave New World
In a futuristic utopian society in which people are grown as nearly identical embryos in bottles,
finding someone who is a complete outcast from the rest of society is rare. In Brave New World, the
author, Aldous Huxley, makes John an exception. Isolated, disengaged, and rejected, John is truthfully
not apart of the civilized World State culture or the savage Indian culture. Being the only person in the
book not born in a laboratory, John additionally stands to represent a unique human being whose
identity and family relationships violate all the other s societal ideals. His experience with exile was
alienating for his relationships with people yet enriching, at times, for his self expression. The thought
of isolating one s self is frowned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two of the World State beliefs that John feels the strongest opposed to include soma distribution and
sex. John believes that soma is a sedating drug which the government gives to the civilized in order to
distract them from their unhappiness and noticing something is wrong within their society. The people
take soma for comfort without realizing the enslaving nature the soma withholds. John picks this up in
Chapter 15 of the novel when he throws the Delta s soma out the window saying, Don t you even
understand what manhood and freedom are. (page 213) John also disagrees with the World State s
view on sex, which can be partially attributed to his reading of Shakespeare work. In the various
books John has read, Shakespeare talks about sex as if it is a special activity for two people who love
each other and intend to marry. On the other hand, the World State strongly encourages erotic play for
people of all ages as strictly a form of entertainment. If it was anything more, such as emotional
bonding, it would destabilize the world the controllers have constructed. She was a popular girl and, at
one time or another, had spent a night with almost all of them. ( page 57) This quote supports John s

Restorative Justice Case Study
Introduction
Over the course of both my undergraduate and master s programs in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution,
and Peacebuilding (NCRP), I have wanted to further study the concept of Restorative Justice. Though
it has surfaced several times throughout my NCRP coursework, it has mostly been in the context of
international conflict. Thus, I have often wondered how Restorative Justice might work in a more
local context. That local context revealed itself in my current role as one of two fathers of a first
grader in a school in Long Beach. Helena, our six year old daughter, attends a small private school
with 160 students in grades K 8. The school community regards itself as being a large, caring, tight
knit extended family, while the administration has been explicit in stating that the incidence of
bullying on the campus is little to none. Our experience as a family in the nearly two years that we
have been part of the community has been otherwise. Here are three bullying scenarios that we ve
experienced or heard of occurring in our school community:
In our first year, two male classmates called our daughter fat when she was in Kindergarten.

Shakespeare s Use Of Metatheatre In Hamlet
Metatheatricality in William Shakespeare s Hamlet
There play within a play is a dramatic device used by Shakespeare to explore the human psyche s
ability to manoeuvre and manipulate by staging performances . Shakespeare premises the entire drama
upon the ghost s revelation of the happenings of the murder and Hamlet engages in a facade in order
to grapple with this reality. The overt presence of metatheatre especially with the enacting of The
Murder of Gonzago and in Hamlet s feigning of lunacy, endeavours to reason with and validate
Hamlet s psychological ongoings but does so with underlying irony. Shakespeare, in my opinion, hints
at the futility of such drastic pretence and enactment with the use tragic irony that concludes the play.

From a psychological point of view, feigned madness can be grounds on which Hamlet s future
actions can be legitimised, if not at least be accounted for. To commit a murder for the purpose of
revenge, on the basis of a spirit s account would seem rather absurd but by proclaiming madness, the
entire prospect is more believable and by that extension, validates the possibility of such an account.
More importantly, Proser argues that Hamlet s barrage of incoherencies
(transparent to us, opaque to them) acts as a smoke screen for his own soliloquized plot hatching (
Proser 340 ). In a sense, the artifice of madness can assist as a deceptive tool while Hamlet struggles
internally to resolve the moral quandary of vengeance and seeks to confirm the truth behind the King s
murder. Although Polonius incorrectly attributes
Hamlet s madness to Ophelia s love, his detection that Though this be madness, yet there is method in

Weeping In St. Augustine s Confessions
Weeping is a part of the human condition, and Saint Augustine conveys this through scenes of
lamentation by Monica and himself in his book, Confessions. Although the various episodes of
weeping have similarities, they are unique because they each convey diverse ideas. Monica, Saint
Augustine s mother, weeps when he leaves the Catholic faith, conveying that praying while crying can
be powerful. She also cries when her son leaves for Rome, illustrating the struggle to balance material
and spiritual wealth. Saint Augustine weeps at the loss of his mother, which conveys the hardships
involved with the loss of loved ones. He also weeps at the death of his companion, which illuminates
his care for the material world.
These weeping scenes all convey how crying is a human sensation caused by suffering. Monica wept
for [Augustine] before [God] more than mothers weep when lamenting their dead children once
Augustine announced his lack of faith in Catholicism (Conf. 3.19). She wept because of the lack of
spiritual guidance her son was receiving from God. Monica used this mortal emotion in an attempt to
get God to listen to her and grant her prayer, which was to see her son follow Catholicism. Monica
also wept and lamented when Augustine left for Rome by deceiving her (Conf. 3.15). She was
suffering because she loved to have [Augustine] with her and Augustine left her in Carthage. Again,
this act of weeping illustrates a mortal suffering created by physical or spiritual loss.

Personal Strengths Of Personal Inventory
OT 381
Personal Inventory
In general, what do you consider some of your personal strengths? Of what interpersonal
skills/abilities are you proud? A personal strength of mine is collaborating well with others. Also,
when engaging with another individual, I am able to have patience as well as be an attentive listener.
These qualities are important in the field of OT because teamwork is the best approach. Finding the
answers to the problems is not going to be independently based all the time. Colleagues help each
other out by combining unique ideas in order to come up with the best possible solution. While
working with the patient, it is important to have the skill of being a good listener because hearing why
they are there and what they are struggling with is necessary for assessing the situation in order to help
him/her in the best way. Also, a patient is not going to be completely cured after one session of OT, so
possessing patience throughout the entire process is a key factor that all OT s should work towards.

Status Symbols
Social class is best described as a large group of people close to one another in property, power, and
prestige. (227) These three things effect our lives more than anyone gives them credit for. They also
mainly go hand in hand with one another. Property is exactly what you think it is. It is the house you
own, the land you have but it is also the jewelry you have, your bank accounts. When you add up the
value of someones propter and subtract their debts you are left with what is called wealth. (227) With
that being said sometimes wealth and income are confused, wealth is the value of the things you own
while income is your flow of money, and they can differ greatly at times. A good example used by our

Prestige is the respect or regard someone or something has. Jobs have prestige from more pay, they
required more education, involved more abstract thought, and offer greater independence. The people
who hold jobs with higher prestige also gain prestige. These rankings are constant not only in America
but across the globe. Status symbols are things that people buy to outwardly show how much money
they have to gain them prestige with others. Status symbols are not only things you can wear, it can be
the place you gained your education. How everyone prefers name brand foods over say great value
brand is a form of status symbolism. It is important to try and fully understand the inter workings of
social class in the U.S. because we are confined to social classes. A good comprehensive
understanding of the class system is to understand why people do certain things, what situations they
are faced with, and the opportunities they have. These social classes not only affect our wealth it
effects our health, family lives, education and even religion. This social stratification is what has led to

One of the most historically outstanding systems which claims to explain some core existential questions about the human condition is religion. Biological males who are gender dysphoric receive treatment with estrogens and anti androgens to become feminized, while gender dysphoric biological females will receive androgen treatments to become masculinized. Many adolescents diagnosed with this condition are given hormones to suppress puberty to make the process easier. Social marginalization and barriers to proper care are typical issues for people with gender dysphoria. Many cultures historically have cross gender identities, for example, Native Americans call these individuals two spirit persons, and in India, physiological males with feminine gender identity are called hijras. The term transvestism was coined by Magnus Hirschfield in 1910. Endocrinologist Harry Benjamin pioneered clinical management and proposed treatment protocol for these individuals. Much confusion exists between the terms transvestite, transgender, and transsexual. A transvestite is a heterosexual male who wears traditionally feminine clothing. The layman term for transvestite is cross dresser . A transgender person is one who experiments in dual male and female roles opposite to birth gender. • 4. Persuasive Essay On No Homework s kids return to school, debate is heating up once again over how they should spend their time after they leave the classroom for the day. The no homework policy of a second grade teacher in Texas went viral last week, earning praise from parents across the country who lament the heavy workload often assigned to young students. Brandy Young told parents she would not formally assign any homework this year, asking students instead to eat dinner with their families, play outside and go to bed early. But the question of how much work children should be doing outside of school remains controversial, and plenty of parents take issue with no homework policies, worried their kids are losing a potential academic advantage. Here s what you need to know: Play Video The issue For decades, the homework standard has been a 10 minute rule, which recommends a daily maximum of 10 minutes of homework per grade level. Second graders, for example, should do about 20 minutes of homework each night. High school seniors should complete about two hours of homework each night. The National PTA and the National Education Association both support that guideline. But some schools have begun to give their youngest students a break. A Massachusetts elementary school has announced a no homework pilot program for the coming school year, lengthening the school day by two hours to provide more in class instruction. We really want kids to go home at 4 o clock, tired. We want their brain to be tired, Kelly Elementary School Principal Jackie Glasheen said in an interview with a local TV station. We want them to enjoy their families. We want them to go to soccer practice or football practice, and we want them to go to bed. And that s it. A New York City public elementary school implemented a similar policy last year, eliminating traditional homework assignments in favor of family time. The change was quickly met with outrage from some parents, though it earned support from other education leaders. New solutions and approaches to homework differ by community, and these local debates are complicated by the fact that even education experts disagree about what s best for kids. These challenges take the form of discrimination, stereotyping, and general negative reactions to them as an ethnic group. Arabs, Arab Americans, and Muslims are often stereotyped in movies as sheiks, barbarians, or terrorist. As many Muslim Americans are visibly culturally distinct, it would be of value to explore whether attitudes of non Muslims toward Muslim Americans resemble attitudes expressed by European non Muslims toward members of these minority groups. One could not take two steps without bumping into a poster of a stern looking man seeming to stare into the soul of the viewer. Big Brother acts as a Godlike figure to the citizens of Oceania, a super nation constantly at war with the two super nations. The government of Oceania, the Party, keeps citizens in a vice like grip through constant surveillance and laws placed on every aspect of human existence. The only loyalty allowed is to the Party. This prompted open communication between all employees, allowing for everyone to freely speak what they thought of their work conditions. Enabling employees to have more input on decisions strengthens their alliance to the company and also makes them feel like they are a valued piece of the organization. The most talked about change for the betterment of employees by far was his announcement to raise the minimum wage to $16, in addition to lowering out of pocket costs for their health care without having to pay more in premiums (O Donnell, 2015). He immediately backed away from it and started the way from which he came. All his life he was told to stay away from the fence. The wolves feared the fence for the fence showed the unknown. It was the fact that beyond the fence was unknown that they feared. Sleet, being a reddish, blackish wolf, was very curious about this fence. For there were stories of wolves who traveled beyond the fence, and never returned. They figured the wolves had been killed. But something about these stories confused him. How would they know that they never returned because they were killed? They could have still been alive and stayed past the fence because there was good! He erased this thought from his mind and continued on his way. Sleet was walking along slowly when he came across a fresh trail that sent his hair on his back bristling. He crouched low to the ground and showed his teeth. He was being watched. He saw gleaming eyes through the bushes surrounding him. He was trapped. Sleet growled menacingly. The wolf pack around him drew closer. He now knew that he was in danger. He submissively rolled onto his back with feet up above him in the air. This was embarrassing for him. According to Gary E. Johnson in The Case for Drug Legalization states how ...We are spending $150 billion a year to combat drugs. This also includes spending in such as courts, jails , and police. But we should also consider, if drugs were to be legalized, It ll be easier for the government to control and they will be able to tax the usage of drugs. Especially, the legalization of drugs will help spend money on other things such as education, public schools, emergency services and will save a lot of finance instead of spending on tracking down drug lords. Nowadays drugs are being sold nationwide through black marketing and a lot of people could get hands on , which cause competition between others drug lords, cartels and violence is erupted. I believe if drugs were to be legalized , it would tremendously drop crime, murder, addiction to certain drugs, and the government would regulate and tax drugs. • 25. The Chernobyl Explosion Many Russian political heads have claimed, RBMK plants...will never be built again, largely due to safety concerns of the past and current reactors [10]. As discussed previously the RBMK s had several reactor features that made it difficult to justify their operation. Most importantly, the reactors generated excess neutrons during operation which upon further study led to the super criticality that caused the Chernobyl explosion. While Russia suggests that the explanation of the plants failure was ultimately only due to the failure to follow safe operations of shutdown procedures, other studies performed post incident suggest that the reactors were inherently technologically unsafe [11]. The most significant issue with the RBMK design was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite these modifications, the RBMK reactors continue to have problems. One site in particular, the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, has had multiple issues in the last few years. In 2013, the graphite moderator was operating improperly due to deformities and cracks in its graphite moderator core. These types of moderator failures have the potential to lead to larger problems, such as the ones identified after the Chernobyl incident. Therefore, the reactor was shut down for an 18 month period in order to repair the deformed moderator [12]. The 18 month project included research and experimentation with reactor operating and monitoring procedures, and will lead to the discovered solutions implementation on all existing RBMK reactors in the future. Despite this solution, the Leningrad RBMKs shut down again for multiple days in October 2015 due to a minor storm that blew seaweed into the reactor s water supply intake [13]. The reactor faced no issues except for minor production delays and its automatic SCRAM procedures went off without issue; however, the fact that a minor natural occurrence caused a shutdown of the reactor raised eyebrows to the reactors true safety. It should be noted that water intake caused shutdowns have occurred internationally, yet they face specific scrutinization when involved with the RBMK reactors [13]. • 26. Interpretation In Ford Madox Ford s The Good Soldier Within the novel The Good Soldier, by Ford Madox Ford, narration serves as an imperative framing mechanism for propelling the plot of the story, while also generating the fragmentation necessary for maintaining the unclarity that pervades John s story. By both subtly positioning the narrator John Dowell as an outsider relative to the other characters, and consequently emphasizing the notion of being outside, Ford facilitates a pointillistic representation of the infidelities that characterize his story. Not only does Ford distance Dowell from the other characters in his narrative, but he also prompts the reader to reject John as an omnipotent, reliable source, thereby provoking the former to rely on interpretation as the primary means for finding resolution. Emphasizing several factors that distinguish John from the other characters, such as his nationality, his inclusion in and knowledge of the infidelitous relationships, his personality type, his future reflective standpoint, and his tendency to infuse his current attitudes and nostalgia into his retelling of this story, Ford employs narration as the essential mechanism for framing the story. Initially denoting both his position as an outsider, and his efforts to justify the abhorrent, adulterous, behavior of Edward Ashburnham and Florence, Dowell frames himself as an American who is merely observing British culture. While establishing himself within his story, Dowell claims that the adulterous affair is, I believe, a state of things only possible with English people of whom, till today, when I sit down to puzzle out what I know of this sad affair, I knew nothing whatever, proceeding to concede that Six months ago [he] had never been to England (Ford, 13). That Ford notes this distinction on the first page of the narrative forces the reader to immediately consider John as a relative outsider in the story, a notion that is compounded by the latter s constantly identifying cultural differences between himself and the Ashburnhams. By conceding that he had not even traveled to England prior to his experience with the Ashburnhams, Dowell implicitly frames their cultural differences as responsible for Edward Ashburnham s infidelitous tendencies and Leonora s ... • 27. The Great Man Theory Was A Popular 19th Century Idea Traditionally teams are built by putting a group of people together without considering many traits or characteristics about those people, then expecting them to work together in a productive manner. Often times this does not work well at all, particularly if the person in charge is unfamiliar with the team concept themselves. Teams have to be cohesive in their ability to make decisions and handle projects within their organization. Sometimes cohesiveness causes team members who are not adept at working with others to push back at the team and this causes friction within the team. Team building models have been developed over the years to make teams work. The problem of working teams has been something that researcher and theorists have been studying for years. Many of these researchers and theorists have developed a standard way to develop teams and team skills. A plethora of team development books have been written and team consulting firms have popped up all over the world. The Great Man Theory was a popular 19th century idea according to which history can be largely explained by the impact of great men , using their power in a way that had a decisive historical impact. These great men always had impressive results from their teams because of their leadership qualities. The historian Thomas Carlyle enforced this theory with his statement The history of the world is but the biography of great men. According to Carlyle, effective leaders are those gifted with ... Flowers And The Symbol Of Flowers A symbol of purity, innocence or life, when connected to the motivation of a character, flowers have the ability to demonstrate a character s emotions and behaviors in a way that describing a character s physical and emotional appearance cannot. Vibrant flowers symbolize aspiration and determination while a wilted or destroyed flower represents a somber and heartbroken attitude toward life. The motif of the flowers in Paul s Case and The Chrysanthemums represent the progression of the characters hope and dreams. • 30. The Love Story Of Jack And Rose The main fictional aspect of the film was the love story between Jack and Rose, two people who never actually traveled on the Titanic, or even existed. James Cameron envisaged the entire concept of this love story during pre production, and uses the idea to manipulate the audience throughout the entire film. Character development in the film was vital, as this led the audience to care for what actually happened to these people. The death of 1500 people was tragic, but without key characters the audience feels no strong connection to what happens in the film. To make this connection even more effective, he uses a flashback and framing technique in the telling of the love story. He begins the story in the present day for the starting proportion of the film. He then uses a flashback sequence to 1912 for the majority of the rest, and then cuts back to the present day for the concluding part of the film. He also visits the present day a few times briefly during the main chunk of the movie set in 1912, to make important links between the two different aged Roses . The first 25 minutes of the film are shot entirely in the present day. The old Rose is shown as a feeble old woman who is being flown out to help a deep sea recovery team in the finding of a priceless diamond necklace. John picks this up in Chapter 15 of the novel when he throws the Delta s soma out the window saying, Don t you even understand what manhood and freedom are. In the various books John has read, Shakespeare talks about sex as if it is a special activity for two people who love each other and intend to marry. On the other hand, the World State strongly encourages erotic play for people of all ages as strictly a form of entertainment. Restorative Justice Case Study Introduction Over the course of both my undergraduate and master s programs in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Peacebuilding (NCRP), I have wanted to further study the concept of Restorative Justice. Though it has surfaced several times throughout my NCRP coursework, it has mostly been in the context of international conflict. Thus, I have often wondered how Restorative Justice might work in a more local context. That local context revealed itself in my current role as one of two fathers of a first grader in a school in Long Beach. Helena, our six year old daughter, attends a small private school with 160 students in grades K 8. The school community regards itself as being a large, caring, tight knit extended family, while the administration has been explicit in stating that the incidence of bullying on the campus is little to none. Our experience as a family in the nearly two years that we have been part of the community has been otherwise. Shakespeare premises the entire drama upon the ghost s revelation of the happenings of the murder and Hamlet engages in a facade in order to grapple with this reality. The overt presence of metatheatre especially with the enacting of The Murder of Gonzago and in Hamlet s feigning of lunacy, endeavours to reason with and validate Hamlet s psychological ongoings but does so with underlying irony. Shakespeare, in my opinion, hints at the futility of such drastic pretence and enactment with the use tragic irony that concludes the play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From a psychological point of view, feigned madness can be grounds on which Hamlet s future actions can be legitimised, if not at least be accounted for. To commit a murder for the purpose of revenge, on the basis of a spirit s account would seem rather absurd but by proclaiming madness, the entire prospect is more believable and by that extension, validates the possibility of such an account. More importantly, Proser argues that Hamlet s barrage of incoherencies (transparent to us, opaque to them) acts as a smoke screen for his own soliloquized plot hatching ( Proser 340 ). In a sense, the artifice of madness can assist as a deceptive tool while Hamlet struggles internally to resolve the moral quandary of vengeance and seeks to confirm the truth behind the King s murder. Although the various episodes of weeping have similarities, they are unique because they each convey diverse ideas. Monica, Saint Augustine s mother, weeps when he leaves the Catholic faith, conveying that praying while crying can be powerful. She also cries when her son leaves for Rome, illustrating the struggle to balance material and spiritual wealth. Saint Augustine weeps at the loss of his mother, which conveys the hardships involved with the loss of loved ones. He also weeps at the death of his companion, which illuminates his care for the material world. These weeping scenes all convey how crying is a human sensation caused by suffering. Monica wept for [Augustine] before [God] more than mothers weep when lamenting their dead children once Augustine announced his lack of faith in Catholicism (Conf. 3.19). She wept because of the lack of spiritual guidance her son was receiving from God. Monica used this mortal emotion in an attempt to get God to listen to her and grant her prayer, which was to see her son follow Catholicism. Monica also wept and lamented when Augustine left for Rome by deceiving her (Conf. 3.15). She was suffering because she loved to have [Augustine] with her and Augustine left her in Carthage. Again, this act of weeping illustrates a mortal suffering created by physical or spiritual loss. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
