Loss Of A Loved One Essay
If I were to conduct research on a Sociological Topic that is applicable to my own life, I would choose
to research how the experience of having loved ones pass away affects people overtime. For instance,
an certain individual I know very well has only experienced the death of one individual they were
close with in their entire lifetime. On the other hand, I have been affected by the passing of loved ones
since I can remember. Case in point, just over the past couple of years I have lost upwards of 8 people
I was very close with. Furthermore, I currently have three different people whom I am close with
battling terminal cancer. When I think of my own experience with death compared to that of the other
individual, I notice that I handle the grieving process in a more logical way opposed to thinking my
happiness and life as a whole ended when the loved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to create a study to determine whether or not the way people grieve death changes after they
have been affected more than once by the loss of a loved one, I would start by creating a survey. On
this survey I would ask the gender of the individual taking the survey, the current age of the
individual, how old the individual was when they first experienced a loved one passing away, how
many people they ve lost in their lifetime that they were particularly close with, what their initial
reaction to the passing of their loved one was compared to their reaction after losing more than one
loved one, and how their reaction has changed as time passes since the loved one(s) passed away. I
may also include the question of what the relationship was between the individual taking the survey
and the individual who passed away. It would be my hope that this survey reached individuals from all
different backgrounds, ages, cultures, and so on to ensure a variety of people were surveyed to
eliminate any biases that may occur. Once I had the results from my

How Does Grendel Cause Hrothgar s Downfall
Character development is very important in character driven literature, where stories focus not on
events, but on individual personalities. Character development is a literary device that is used step by
step in literature to highlight and explain the details about a character in a story. And the stories that
move us most, the ones that stick inside years later, are those inhabited by characters we can connect
with and admire. And no characters resonate more than those who in the course of a story learned how
to either give in or overcome their own flaws and weaknesses to which they are remembered for. The
rocky path of personal growth and development a character undergoes in a story, usually unwillingly,
during which the character wrestles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s clear that Grendel is a major cause of Hrothgar s suffering there are only so many times you can
clean up the blood and rebuild your meadhall before you feel a little weak and broken. But the factors
contributing to Hrothgar s downfall are more complex. Grendel s razor sharp assessments hit the nail
right on the head: He had in his youth the strength of seven men. Not now. He has nothing left but the
power of his mind and no pleasure there: a case of knives. The civilization he meant to build has
transmogrified to a forest thick with traps (121). Not only has he lost his muscle, he s lost his peace of
mind as well. The king has become trapped by everything he worked so hard to achieve. His bling, his
solid rep, his fantastic crib, and even his methods of ruling become a target for younger, ambitious
warlords. His beautiful wife, a peace offering from a young and resentful lesser king, might become a
point of contention in the future. He also knows that his young sons will most likely become prey for
their orphaned cousin Hrothulf, who has lost his natural chance at a throne through

How Failure Can Impact A Children s View On Intelligence
Parents and Education: How Failure Can Impact a Children s View on Intelligence
There are a lot of factors that play a role in how a child performs in the educational realm. A major
influencer is the role that a parent plays in their child s education specifically how the parent views
failure. In this article, Parents Views of Failure Predict Children s Fixed and Growth Intelligence Mind
Sets by Kyla Haimovitz and Carol S. Dweck, the question is if a parent s specific response to failure
impacts the child s belief in whether intelligence is malleable or fixed. The article cites research done
on multiple experiments that study: the level of a child s motivation and learning based on talent,
student s belief in the malleability of intelligence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study gathered 100 participants that were in 4th 5th grade, an average age of 11, and over half
female. The participant location was three schools in the San Francisco Area. Parental consent was
given. The questionnaire used to measure the intelligence mindset was identical to the one used in
Study One. They also measured the children s view of how their parent s perceived failure by a two
question survey: my parents think failure can help me learn and my parents think failure is bad and
should be avoided (Haimovitz and Dweck 2016). The results of the study were that the reports done
by the children on their parent s failure mindset predicted their own belief in either a fixed or growth
mindset. Based off of the findings of these three studies, a parent s failure mindset has an effect on a
children s view of intelligence more so than the parent s own view on intelligence. In a failure
debilitating mindset, a child is more than likely to believe that their intelligence, or intelligence in
general, is fixed and cannot be improved. This mindset manifests itself due to several factors that were
studied during the experiment. First the failure mindset of a parent is more visible to the child than
their intelligence mindset. Because of this visibility, a failure debilitating mindset of a parent will have
a greater impact on their child than they

The Cost Of Employees For Teleworking
Majority of employees decide for teleworking mainly because of several benefits teleworking is
offering. The first advantage is harmony of work and personal life. Employees have more free time
they can spend with their children and family. Next advantage means higher flexibility as teleworkers
may often chose the working hours and take the advantage for themselves. This allows them to choose
the hours during which they are the most productive. Furthermore, teleworkers decreased everyday
commuting to work saving their time, additional costs for travelling as well as stress (Mann and
Holdsworth, 2003). In addition, not only employees benefit from teleworking. Company profits from
teleworkers as well. Late research of the British Broadcasting Corporation showed savings of
approximately 25 per cent. These savings are the results of decrease of bills in office space including
heating, electricity (Loughran, 1998 as quoted in Mann and Holdsworth, 2003). Implications for
increased productivity, loyalty and overall quality of work have been found among teleworkers
(Baruch, 2000).
However, teleworking is accompanied by a range of negatives too. The most common of them is
social segregation. An analysis from 1983 showed that 60 per cent of teleworkers in Great Britain
considered social segregation to be the greatest drawback of teleworking (Huws, 1984 as quoted in
Mann and Holdsworth, 2003). Presenteeism is regarded as another disadvantage of teleworking.

Should Children Be Restricted To Media Screens Analysis
In my opinion children should not be restricted from spending time in front of media screens. One
reason why children should nt be restricted to media screens is because teconology gives children who
are visual learners acces to educational videos where they would learn faster than reading about it.
Another reason is because since 2015 the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) changed their
guidelines for children screen watching. They now support children and parents to play video games
together. Also children have showed researchers that watching TV with their parents has reduced
anger and fear. Children who are visual learners have a hard time following instructions. For example

Difference between Postpartum depression and Postpartum Psychosis 1
When we speak of these two disorders what are we talking about and how are they different in the
relationship to woman? I will try to determine that in this brief essay. The first of two is postpartum
depression, this disorder consist of a disorder that occur in mothers that have giving birth to a child. It
occurs in some women after the first week of giving birth but can last longer for several months.
It can be triggered by ways of a sudden hormone c hanges that happen after childbirth, miscarriage, or
stillbirth. Some important facts about this disorder are: If the symptoms of postpartum become serious
it may trigger the mother to have thoughts of hurting themselves by means of suicide or even worst
they may be considering hurting their child. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This disorder is much serious than postpartum because of the facts it causes the mother to have mere
thoughts of hallucinations and delusions (perceiving things differently from the way they are).
In a legal defense case these disorder can be used as a vital piece of evidence such as manner. If the
attorney feels that the individual cannot stand trial, they may in turn ask the judge for a plea of
insanity due to the mental capacity of the victim.
If I was the defense attorney trying to defend either one of these two cases. I would not bring it to trial
because of the fact it would be hard for me to prove to the court that individuals was in there right
state of mind when the incidents occurred. Furthermore it would take intensive amount of time for the
psychologist to do this if he or she is not

Gojira Symbolism
As the monster Gojira came lumbering over the buildings of Tokyo on the big screen in 1954, director
Ishiro Honda saw his dream of seeing a film focused on the devastation of nuclear weapons play out.
Although, his film could not clearly be about the devastation, his symbolism of the monster as the
atomic bomb was clear to all Japanese, even if it was not clear to foreigners viewing the film. The
film, Gojira, and its many reiterations over the years, is a result of the atomic attacks that took place
almost a decade previous, the following occupation and continued use of nuclear weapons by the
United States, the lingering anxieties had towards these nuclear weapons and the censorship that
encased Japan after the United States occupation. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both these events rocked the country and its citizens, leaving many with lingering anxieties over the
threat of atomic bombs. These anxieties were not helped by the United States continued use and
testing of these weapons in Japan. Just a couple years before the film was released, the United States
dropped their first H bomb on a small Japanese island. Additionally, in 1954 the United States dropped
another H bomb, that exposed a boat, Daigo Fukuryū Maru, and its crew to high amounts of radiation.
(Noriega 1987:65) This disaster is shown in the opening scene of Gojira, a scene that would be
recognizable to all Japanese watching the film. Honda, like many Japanese shared these anxieties over
the devastation of atomic weapons, but he recognized that he could not make a film explicitly about
these weapons. (also about the guilt of americans by showing tis scene.)This was due to the censorship
laws under the occupation. This censorship did not allow media to criticize the United States,
(Rosenfeld 2002:86) and if Honda had explicitly made a film of the aftermath of the United States
attack on Japan, it would be a criticism. There was no outlet for these concerns because this, which
lingered even after they left the country, hence why Honda posed the atomic threat as a monster in his

In 2014, he decided to take on Erislandy Lara against his team s wishes and common sense. Lara was
a skilled boxer that was feared by most people in the junior middleweight division, but Alvarez
decided to take him on to prove he wasn t afraid to take a step up in competition.
As you all know, that fight didn t help Alvarez in the eyes of the public. He beat Lara in a close fight,
but that wasn t enough for the boxing community. Instead of being applauded for winning a close fight
with someone he could ve easily avoided, the dominant storyline was that Lara was robbed. Yes, there
was the ridiculous 117 111 score, but the fight was close enough for Alvarez to get the nod.
Nevertheless, the boxing community couldn t come to grips with the fact that a close fight doesn t
equal a robbery, so Alvarez didn t get the amount of praise Golovkin got in his recent close fight with
Daniel Jacobs.
The weirdest part of all of this is how the networks and media treat Canelo Alvarez. Alvarez is one of
the biggest pay per view stars in boxing. His fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. drew over 1 million
paper view buys, which is almost unheard of outside of Mayweather and Pacquiao. With numbers like
that, you would think it would be in the best interest of boxing to push Canelo Alvarez as the next all

Eighner makes use of a tone and presents an usually unseemly topic in a compelling and comical light.
His general claim is that it is possible to survive well outside the housed community of the average

knee jerk reaction to dumpster diving. In his essay, Eighner discusses American waste as well as the

Changing Time In High School
A problem with changing the time that schools starts is parent work schedules. When school starts at
7:30, most parents can see their kids before they go to school. If that time was changed, most parents
won t be able to still drive their kids to school and get to work on time. A main a problem for parents
of young children, who need supervision while getting ready for school and waiting for the bus. For
teenagers, later starting time may lead to more responsibility such as getting themselves up on their
own and getting their own breakfast.
Another issue is bus schedules and other transportation. Lots of school districts use the same buses to
get the elementary and high school students. Delayed school times would affect this because if the
same bus driver drops students off at the high school and then has to pick up elementary school
students. Schools would have to delay both high school times and all elementary schools times or

Similarities Between Fahrenheit 451 And The Veldt
Fahrenheit 451 The Veldt Comparison
Fahrenheit 451 compares to The Veldt in many ways. Fahrenheit 451 is a society where books are
illegal and firemen burn houses instead of putting them out. Also the firemen own a eight legged
mechanical dog that tracks down people who break the law. The Veldt is about this family who relies
on a room called the nursery that does everything for them. The parents were trying to shut down the
nursery but, the kids did not want that. These books have many similar themes like dystopian societies
and future technology diminishing people s lives.
One similar theme between The Veldt and Fahrenheit 451 is that they both are a dystopian society. In
both these books the societies have crime everywhere. In The Veldt the kids murdered their own
parents through the nursery. The kids tricked their parents into the nursery where they were
surrounded by hungry lions and the kids locked their parents inside to get eaten (Bradbury 10).

American Auto Controversy
The American Autobahn Believe it or not there is a road system in which there is no speed limit. It is
called the autobahn and is located in Germany. However unlike many people think it is not a single
road but rather a series of motorways that stretch across all of Germany. The autobahn is not without
restrictions though. There are in some areas speed limits set during inclement weather. There is also
rules such as it is illegal to stop on the side of the road and pass other vehicles if you are to the right of
them. Now this sounds so great that the obvious American thing to do is to steal the idea that many
have already proposed. It is only a matter of time until politicians throughout America will succumb to
the pressures to create a similar system of roads around the nation. It would certainly increase the
revenue for nearby businesses due to the newfound tourism. The new road system would be safer in
comparison to a speed regulated highway. Germany s autobahn for example has 6 traffic related deaths

rough areas and increasing efficiency at intersections, but possible nonetheless. One very promising
area of this road happens to cross the Bonneville salt flats, already known for it s rich history of speed.
A toll however would be necessary to keeping the road in an exceptional condition to insure the safety
of the drivers. Another proposition may be an additional driving class that would be mandatory or at
the least offered to drivers in the area to increase safety. This road if successful would be the
beginning of a new era in American motorcar

The Elements Of Lean Production
THE ELEMENTS OF LEAN PRODUCTION
In this part, the authors write about the steps of developing lean production by pointing out the
assembly plants, the differences between lean and Ford s point of view, production procedures, the
supply chain, the scheme of selling automobiles, and what lean needs to be perfect.
Running the Factory. This chapter is written according to an investigation at IMVP World Assembly
Plant. It is true that the car assembly workshops require a significantly large space with massive
storage areas and railway systems. Besides, thousands of labors will work in a big and chaotic
building with many noisy machines; consequently, this is such a significant problem for all automobile
companies. The writers use the case of the IMVP World Assembly Plant to emphasize the three factors
that persuaded them that assembly was the most essential part in the automobile manufacturing
process. The first thing is that assembly is involved in most of the work in car industry. The next
reason is all of the cars and light trucks today are manufactured in the same technique so that the
assembly factories in the world almost do the similar work. Lastly, Toyota, in order of spreading the
lean production, had built lots of assembly factory in both North America and Europe. Furthermore, a
typical example of mass production at General Motor workshop in Massachusetts is used in order to
illustrate the need of lean production in the Midwest of America. Subsequently, the

Bye Bye Birdie Directed by George Sidney is a movie filmed in 1963. In the movie, a rock star named
Conrad Birdie (played by Jesse Pearson) receives a notice that he is being drafted into the war, but
before he leaves for war he travels to a small town in Ohio to perform a farewell television
performance and to kiss his biggest fan. Although the film takes place in 1958, the movie reflects the
time which it was filmed in (1963). The sixties jump started a counterculture that would change the
landscape of the United States and the World. The sixties in the United States was an era driven by a
movement of people, mainly youth, fighting for new radical political ideals such as the support for
Civil Rights, Women s Rights, and Gay Rights while opposing war and the political establishment. In
a way to fight the establishment and express new views, mainstream counterculture revolutionized
pop culture by popularizing the acceptance of drugs and sex and inviting in new music, hair styles,
and revealing clothing. The film Bye Bye Birdie, released in the sixties (1963), reflects the era it was

In the movie, Ann Margret s character (Kim MacAfee) accepts an invitation to kiss Conrad Birdie
(Jesse Pearson) on national television even though she has a boyfriend which can be correlated to the
growing acceptance of sex that occurred in the Sixties. In another scene Kim MacAfee dyes her hair
and when her mother (played by Mary LaRoche) confronts her about it she argues that it is her hair to
do what she pleases which reflects the movement made in the Sixties for women to have control over
their own body. A major theme that grew immensely popular during the sixties was the feminism
movement (things like women s birth control pills were created in 1960). This theme of feminism was
definitely reflected in the

Essay On Women s Center
Current Problems of the Women s Center
Many Women s Centers have been changing the name of the center to become more inclusive due to
the definition of feminism and the values of the Women s Center. The idea of the Women s Center is to
provide information, education, and advocacy surrounding issues of women. At some point the topic
of women s issues get very burly with the topics of gender identification and the population it is
aiming to serve.
This section will be exploring the risks, needs and current problems of the Women s Centers. Funding
seems to be a constant problem with all universities across the United States. There are grants,
scholarship, and funding for Women s Centers but getting them becomes the problem. They may ...

Others noted that it was difficult to serve all women in a diverse student population (Kasper, 2004,
p189). Going along with attendance is territorialism. Centers have reported that they have to be carful
not to plan activity s or events that may step on the toes of others. Centers have seen this problem only
grow with budgetary problems and cuts from the college (Kasper, 2004).
With the combination between all the problems it becomes had for Women s Centers to be recognized
for what they do and who is represented. Then the question is asked whom does the Women s Center
include? What issues should be addressed? Who are they supporting? Will including more people
affect funding? How would this effect current member of the Women s Center? These are question
that will have to be addressed when creating a Women s Center as well as any center that addresses
this population of people. In (re)conceptualizing these spaces, we must think about ways to be more
inclusive of the students who are marginalized within groups (Nicolazzo Harris, 2014, p. 6)
Change to Centers
Many university campus Women s Centers in the United States have been making the change from
Women s Centers to a more gender inclusive name as a result of the values behind the Women s
Centers. Women s centers can play a significant role in promoting equity as long as they are viewed as
central vehicles in the equity process and are able to avoid marginalization (Bengiveno, 2000, p 7).

How Did The Middle Colonies Affect The New England Colonies
How Did This Affect That Imagine this you come to a new city where do you go. You could go to the
business district. There is also the farming district. And the building or trading district. This is the
same problems colonists had the face they just had this on a grander scale between colonial regions.
This was a big dilemma since what colonial region you settled in is where you stayed. So people
choose where to live based off of what was offered in the region In the New England colony it was a
rather rocky and barren soil. This led to not much being planted besides what was needed to sustain a
family, so the turned to the heavy forests to help. The heavy forests brought in a ship building
business. This was a big deal to the economy since the ships were sold to traders and there was always
a demand to build. Another reason the needed to build ships was because New England had multiple
ports since it had many different water sources the Atlantic Ocean being the major surrounding ocean .
The many bodies of water also made their diet mostly fish and shellfish to make up for the lack of
farming. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Equity Method of Accounting for Investments
Chapter 1 the equity method of accounting for investments Chapter Outline I. Three methods are
principally used to account for an investment in equity securities. A. Fair value method: applied by an
investor when only a small percentage of a company s voting stock is held. 1. Income is recognized
when dividends are declared. 2. Portfolios are reported at market value. If market values are
unavailable, investment is reported at cost. B. Consolidation: when one firm controls another (e.g.,
when a parent has a majority interest in the voting stock of a subsidiary or control through variable
interests (FIN 46R), their financial statements are consolidated and reported for the combined entity.

B. Payments made in excess of underlying book value can sometimes be identified with specific
investee accounts such as inventory or equipment. C. An extra acquisition price can also be assigned
to anticipated benefits that are expected to be derived from the investment. For accounting purposes,
these amounts are presumed to reflect an intangible asset referred to as goodwill. Goodwill is
calculated as any excess payment that is not attributable to specific accounts. For the year 2002 and
beyond, goodwill is no longer amortized. V. Deferral of unrealized gains in inventory A. Gains derived
from intercompany transactions are not considered completely earned until the transferred goods are
either consumed or resold to unrelated parties. B. Downstream sales of inventory 1. Downstream
refers to transfers made by the investor to the investee. 2. Intercompany gains from sales are initially
deferred under the equity method and then recognized as income at the time of the inventory s
eventual disposal. 3. The amount of gain to be deferred is the investor s ownership percentage
multiplied by the markup on the merchandise remaining at the end of the year. C. Upstream sales of
inventory 1. Upstream refers to transfers made by the investee to the investor. 2. Under the equity
method, the deferral process for unrealized gains is identical for upstream

The Deaths Of Women During Ciudad Juarez
In general those who live in Ciudad Juarez know about the recurring murders over the past decade
involving women. Despite of that there are still millions that are oblivious to this occurring or choose
to ignore it. It also gets less talked about comparing to other issues occurring around the world. Those
who choose to talk about the subject eventually give up because they saw no immediate results or any
progress at all. As stated before some chose to ignore the issue because they felt it was the easy way
out and had fear of their own lives as well. Especially, the residents of Ciudad Juarez were in fear to
speak of it because they felt they would put their lives endangered. However, to truly understand the
severity and seriousness of this subject like many other issues you need to have some idea of how and
why it started and the history or facts surrounding the issue. That is why the main focus is finding the
factors that may have contributed to the recurring murders of women in Ciudad Juarez. Moreover, the
effects of the murders on the victim families, the public in general, and the city. Also finding if there
were any motives behind the murders of the women. Lastly, finding if there are any solutions for the
murders to come to an end, any way to deter people from doing it, and has there been something done
in the past decade to tackle the murders from happening again. There has been debates and
deliberations on how and when the series murders of women began, but

Oedipus-Complex In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Renowned psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud, coined the term Oedipus complex in 1910 when explaining
a child s psychological desire for his opposite sex parent. Coupled with this desire is a bitter sense of
rivalry with the parent of the same sex, as the child feels envious and compelled to win the affection of
the coveted parent (Freud 19). Shakespeare s Hamlet, although written prior to the development of this
theory, is often referenced as a prime example of this complex. Hamlet famously descends into
madness in an effort to avenge his father s death; however, although Hamlet is seemingly devastated
by the loss of his father, it is not until he learns of his mother s marriage to Claudius that he truly
begins to unravel. Once alone, he erupts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They provide the three classes of ghosts that Elizabethans recognized: the authentic, subjective, or
false ghost.
When illustrating the characteristics of a false ghost, they describe, It was thought to be a prankish
delight of the devil to assume the shape of a person lately dead and in this guise appear to relatives
and incite them to some deed which if consummated would entail the forfeiture of their souls (Boas
and Hahn 99). Because Shakespeare was undoubtedly Protestant, he surely intended for the ghost in
Hamlet to reflect the qualities of a false ghost, for Protestants believed that ghosts were truly demons
sent from Hell to tempt people into performing unholy acts. Consequently, the ghost of the king is
unquestionably a demon sent to persuade Hamlet to fulfill his utmost unholy desire: to be with his
mother. However, if this ghost is truly a demon, it would not want to appear as such to Hamlet. As
Boas and Hahn suggest when referencing Hamlet, this demon materializes under the guise of urging
Hamlet to commit a heroic act of justice, when in reality it is tempting him to remove the only person
who stands in the way of his deepest, sinful wish. If the ghost were to command him to murder
Claudius so Hamlet can fulfill his incestuous desires, Hamlet would be less apt to act because he does
not want to acknowledge such desires, for the Oedipus complex is an unconscious and repressed
affliction.

How has the Federal Government dealt with pandemic Influenza outbreaks in the past? In previous
years, there have been many outbreaks of the influenza virus in many different strains. These

Spanish Flu of 1918, to the first Influenza outbreaks of the 21st century, the Swine Flu waves of 2009
and 2010. In the United States, the federal government works closely with the Centers for Disease

Locke Qualities
Locke has determined two was of classify thing qualities of objects that enable ideas. Primary and
secondary qualities by which ideas are understood and observed through perception and sensation they
invoke in the observer. The mind is the ultimate decider of sensation the observe feels with certain
objects. Berkeley has a different opinion from Locke where he has good reason to believe Locke is
wrong. Hume agrees with some thing of both Locke and Berkeley on the topic of qualities.
Ideas and qualities are two different things according to Locke. Locke means by idea is the object of
thought; mental entities that exist in our mind. Locke defines qualities as power to produce ideas in
our mind. Locke argues that perception causes ideas and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows the secondary quality such as hot and cold are within the mid because it can cause one
hand to feel cold and another hand to feel heat. Berkeley states that primary qualities like texture or
shape can be affect the mind as well and provide sensations. Since an object can appear different to
different people so how could we distinguish between primary and secondary qualities? At different
position one can perceive different from someone else at another position.
Hume agrees with Locke that perception is the foundation of our ideas but disagrees with the
distinction of primary and secondary qualities. He agrees with Berkeley that there is no proofs that can
show how one is suppose to distinguish between primary and secondary qualities of perception. For
Hume knowledge is limited to simple impressions and simple ideas. He distinguishes between
impression and ideas: impressions are the lively, first hand perception, of something internal or
external. Ideas are less lively, occur when we reflect on previous impressions we have

Government Surveillance Report
The part of Dr. Christ s lecture that remained in my mind was his input on the topic of surveillance. In
fact when he mentioned that google is able to track us, I immediately opened my phone and shut down
the ability for google to track my location. My animation connects to Dr. Christ s lecture in the sphere
of surveillance while at first this doesn t seem to connect with my project I will show you why. Notice
when you were playing the game as you moved smug, the cat, the ball followed. This is my way of
showing government surveillance. The ball reacting to smug s movements serve as a metaphor for the
way that the government is able to track us via google, our phones and various other mechanisms.
Also notice that you can trick the ball into going away from smug. This trick is a metaphor for how
people can encrypt information and use the dark web to keep information away from the government.
Also the ability to trick the ball into going in the wrong direction serves as a metaphor for how the
government is a massive inept bureaucracy that struggles to complete even the most simple tasks with
easy and swiftness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Loss Of A Loved One Essay If I were to conduct research on a Sociological Topic that is applicable to my own life, I would choose to research how the experience of having loved ones pass away affects people overtime. For instance, an certain individual I know very well has only experienced the death of one individual they were close with in their entire lifetime. On the other hand, I have been affected by the passing of loved ones since I can remember. Case in point, just over the past couple of years I have lost upwards of 8 people I was very close with. Furthermore, I currently have three different people whom I am close with battling terminal cancer. When I think of my own experience with death compared to that of the other individual, I notice that I handle the grieving process in a more logical way opposed to thinking my happiness and life as a whole ended when the loved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to create a study to determine whether or not the way people grieve death changes after they have been affected more than once by the loss of a loved one, I would start by creating a survey. On this survey I would ask the gender of the individual taking the survey, the current age of the individual, how old the individual was when they first experienced a loved one passing away, how many people they ve lost in their lifetime that they were particularly close with, what their initial reaction to the passing of their loved one was compared to their reaction after losing more than one loved one, and how their reaction has changed as time passes since the loved one(s) passed away. I may also include the question of what the relationship was between the individual taking the survey and the individual who passed away. It would be my hope that this survey reached individuals from all different backgrounds, ages, cultures, and so on to ensure a variety of people were surveyed to eliminate any biases that may occur. • 3. How Does Grendel Cause Hrothgar s Downfall Character development is very important in character driven literature, where stories focus not on events, but on individual personalities. Character development is a literary device that is used step by step in literature to highlight and explain the details about a character in a story. And the stories that move us most, the ones that stick inside years later, are those inhabited by characters we can connect with and admire. And no characters resonate more than those who in the course of a story learned how to either give in or overcome their own flaws and weaknesses to which they are remembered for. The rocky path of personal growth and development a character undergoes in a story, usually unwillingly, during which the character wrestles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s clear that Grendel is a major cause of Hrothgar s suffering there are only so many times you can clean up the blood and rebuild your meadhall before you feel a little weak and broken. But the factors contributing to Hrothgar s downfall are more complex. Grendel s razor sharp assessments hit the nail right on the head: He had in his youth the strength of seven men. Not now. He has nothing left but the power of his mind and no pleasure there: a case of knives. The civilization he meant to build has transmogrified to a forest thick with traps (121). Not only has he lost his muscle, he s lost his peace of mind as well. The king has become trapped by everything he worked so hard to achieve. His bling, his solid rep, his fantastic crib, and even his methods of ruling become a target for younger, ambitious warlords. His beautiful wife, a peace offering from a young and resentful lesser king, might become a point of contention in the future. He also knows that his young sons will most likely become prey for their orphaned cousin Hrothulf, who has lost his natural chance at a throne through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Failure Can Impact A Children s View On Intelligence Parents and Education: How Failure Can Impact a Children s View on Intelligence There are a lot of factors that play a role in how a child performs in the educational realm. A major influencer is the role that a parent plays in their child s education specifically how the parent views failure. In this article, Parents Views of Failure Predict Children s Fixed and Growth Intelligence Mind Sets by Kyla Haimovitz and Carol S. Dweck, the question is if a parent s specific response to failure impacts the child s belief in whether intelligence is malleable or fixed. The article cites research done on multiple experiments that study: the level of a child s motivation and learning based on talent, student s belief in the malleability of intelligence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study gathered 100 participants that were in 4th 5th grade, an average age of 11, and over half female. The participant location was three schools in the San Francisco Area. Parental consent was given. The questionnaire used to measure the intelligence mindset was identical to the one used in Study One. They also measured the children s view of how their parent s perceived failure by a two question survey: my parents think failure can help me learn and my parents think failure is bad and should be avoided (Haimovitz and Dweck 2016). The results of the study were that the reports done by the children on their parent s failure mindset predicted their own belief in either a fixed or growth mindset. Based off of the findings of these three studies, a parent s failure mindset has an effect on a children s view of intelligence more so than the parent s own view on intelligence. In a failure debilitating mindset, a child is more than likely to believe that their intelligence, or intelligence in general, is fixed and cannot be improved. This mindset manifests itself due to several factors that were studied during the experiment. First the failure mindset of a parent is more visible to the child than their intelligence mindset. Because of this visibility, a failure debilitating mindset of a parent will have a greater impact on their child than they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Cost Of Employees For Teleworking Majority of employees decide for teleworking mainly because of several benefits teleworking is offering. The first advantage is harmony of work and personal life. Employees have more free time they can spend with their children and family. Next advantage means higher flexibility as teleworkers may often chose the working hours and take the advantage for themselves. This allows them to choose the hours during which they are the most productive. Furthermore, teleworkers decreased everyday commuting to work saving their time, additional costs for travelling as well as stress (Mann and Holdsworth, 2003). In addition, not only employees benefit from teleworking. Company profits from teleworkers as well. Late research of the British Broadcasting Corporation showed savings of approximately 25 per cent. These savings are the results of decrease of bills in office space including heating, electricity (Loughran, 1998 as quoted in Mann and Holdsworth, 2003). Implications for increased productivity, loyalty and overall quality of work have been found among teleworkers (Baruch, 2000). However, teleworking is accompanied by a range of negatives too. The most common of them is social segregation. An analysis from 1983 showed that 60 per cent of teleworkers in Great Britain considered social segregation to be the greatest drawback of teleworking (Huws, 1984 as quoted in Mann and Holdsworth, 2003). Presenteeism is regarded as another disadvantage of teleworking. Teleworkers are hardly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One reason why children should nt be restricted to media screens is because teconology gives children who are visual learners acces to educational videos where they would learn faster than reading about it. Another reason is because since 2015 the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) changed their guidelines for children screen watching. Gojira Symbolism As the monster Gojira came lumbering over the buildings of Tokyo on the big screen in 1954, director Ishiro Honda saw his dream of seeing a film focused on the devastation of nuclear weapons play out. Although, his film could not clearly be about the devastation, his symbolism of the monster as the atomic bomb was clear to all Japanese, even if it was not clear to foreigners viewing the film. The film, Gojira, and its many reiterations over the years, is a result of the atomic attacks that took place almost a decade previous, the following occupation and continued use of nuclear weapons by the United States, the lingering anxieties had towards these nuclear weapons and the censorship that encased Japan after the United States occupation. These anxieties were not helped by the United States continued use and testing of these weapons in Japan. Just a couple years before the film was released, the United States dropped their first H bomb on a small Japanese island. Additionally, in 1954 the United States dropped another H bomb, that exposed a boat, Daigo Fukuryū Maru, and its crew to high amounts of radiation. (Noriega 1987:65) This disaster is shown in the opening scene of Gojira, a scene that would be recognizable to all Japanese watching the film. Honda, like many Japanese shared these anxieties over the devastation of atomic weapons, but he recognized that he could not make a film explicitly about these weapons. (also about the guilt of americans by showing tis scene.)This was due to the censorship laws under the occupation. This censorship did not allow media to criticize the United States, (Rosenfeld 2002:86) and if Honda had explicitly made a film of the aftermath of the United States attack on Japan, it would be a criticism. Lara was a skilled boxer that was feared by most people in the junior middleweight division, but Alvarez decided to take him on to prove he wasn t afraid to take a step up in competition. As you all know, that fight didn t help Alvarez in the eyes of the public. He beat Lara in a close fight, but that wasn t enough for the boxing community. Instead of being applauded for winning a close fight with someone he could ve easily avoided, the dominant storyline was that Lara was robbed. Yes, there was the ridiculous 117 111 score, but the fight was close enough for Alvarez to get the nod. Nevertheless, the boxing community couldn t come to grips with the fact that a close fight doesn t equal a robbery, so Alvarez didn t get the amount of praise Golovkin got in his recent close fight with Daniel Jacobs. Eighner makes use of a tone and presents an usually unseemly topic in a compelling and comical light. His general claim is that it is possible to survive well outside the housed community of the average citizens. Eighner brings a perspective on scavenging for food and goods that differs from the typical knee jerk reaction to dumpster diving. In his essay, Eighner discusses American waste as well as the true art of scavenging and the lessons he learned through this experience. When school starts at 7:30, most parents can see their kids before they go to school. If that time was changed, most parents won t be able to still drive their kids to school and get to work on time. A main a problem for parents of young children, who need supervision while getting ready for school and waiting for the bus. Fahrenheit 451 is a society where books are illegal and firemen burn houses instead of putting them out. Also the firemen own a eight legged mechanical dog that tracks down people who break the law. The Veldt is about this family who relies on a room called the nursery that does everything for them. The parents were trying to shut down the nursery but, the kids did not want that. These books have many similar themes like dystopian societies and future technology diminishing people s lives. One similar theme between The Veldt and Fahrenheit 451 is that they both are a dystopian society. In both these books the societies have crime everywhere. In The Veldt the kids murdered their own parents through the nursery. The kids tricked their parents into the nursery where they were surrounded by hungry lions and the kids locked their parents inside to get eaten (Bradbury 10). However unlike many people think it is not a single road but rather a series of motorways that stretch across all of Germany. The autobahn is not without restrictions though. There are in some areas speed limits set during inclement weather. There is also rules such as it is illegal to stop on the side of the road and pass other vehicles if you are to the right of them. Now this sounds so great that the obvious American thing to do is to steal the idea that many have already proposed. It is only a matter of time until politicians throughout America will succumb to the pressures to create a similar system of roads around the nation. The Elements Of Lean Production THE ELEMENTS OF LEAN PRODUCTION In this part, the authors write about the steps of developing lean production by pointing out the assembly plants, the differences between lean and Ford s point of view, production procedures, the supply chain, the scheme of selling automobiles, and what lean needs to be perfect. Running the Factory. This chapter is written according to an investigation at IMVP World Assembly Plant. It is true that the car assembly workshops require a significantly large space with massive storage areas and railway systems. Besides, thousands of labors will work in a big and chaotic building with many noisy machines; consequently, this is such a significant problem for all automobile companies. The writers use the case of the IMVP World Assembly Plant to emphasize the three factors that persuaded them that assembly was the most essential part in the automobile manufacturing process. The first thing is that assembly is involved in most of the work in car industry. The next reason is all of the cars and light trucks today are manufactured in the same technique so that the assembly factories in the world almost do the similar work. Lastly, Toyota, in order of spreading the lean production, had built lots of assembly factory in both North America and Europe. Furthermore, a typical example of mass production at General Motor workshop in Massachusetts is used in order to illustrate the need of lean production in the Midwest of America. Oedipus-Complex In Shakespeare s Hamlet Renowned psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud, coined the term Oedipus complex in 1910 when explaining a child s psychological desire for his opposite sex parent. Coupled with this desire is a bitter sense of rivalry with the parent of the same sex, as the child feels envious and compelled to win the affection of the coveted parent (Freud 19). Shakespeare s Hamlet, although written prior to the development of this theory, is often referenced as a prime example of this complex. When illustrating the characteristics of a false ghost, they describe, It was thought to be a prankish delight of the devil to assume the shape of a person lately dead and in this guise appear to relatives and incite them to some deed which if consummated would entail the forfeiture of their souls (Boas and Hahn 99). Because Shakespeare was undoubtedly Protestant, he surely intended for the ghost in Hamlet to reflect the qualities of a false ghost, for Protestants believed that ghosts were truly demons sent from Hell to tempt people into performing unholy acts. Consequently, the ghost of the king is unquestionably a demon sent to persuade Hamlet to fulfill his utmost unholy desire: to be with his mother. However, if this ghost is truly a demon, it would not want to appear as such to Hamlet. As Boas and Hahn suggest when referencing Hamlet, this demon materializes under the guise of urging Hamlet to commit a heroic act of justice, when in reality it is tempting him to remove the only person who stands in the way of his deepest, sinful wish. If the ghost were to command him to murder Claudius so Hamlet can fulfill his incestuous desires, Hamlet would be less apt to act because he does not want to acknowledge such desires, for the Oedipus complex is an unconscious and repressed affliction. ...
