Gregor the Overlander from the Overland Series by Suzanne...
In today s world you never know what to believe. Because of this, many people wonder what is and
isn t true, making everyone skeptical about the world. Whether it is something that could drastically
change your outlook on life, or change what you eat for dinner, what we hear about in the media is
never 100 percent accurate and believable. For example, one thing that we can never be sure of is
what happens to us when we pass on into the afterlife. The Underworld is portrayed in many different
ways in the popular media and in the world in general. Whether the Underworld is a place full of
torture and pain or a place of life and prophecy, the fact still remains that you being sent there is an
avoidable fate.
Many of us wonder where our souls must go when we die, and most of us believe in Heaven and Hell.
Some people call Hell the Underworld, and others say the Underworld is something completely
different. In many cases, the Underworld could either be considered a world underneath surface of our
world, or it could be just another name for Hell. In Suzanne Collins s book Gregor the Overlander
from the Overland Series, the Underworld is a sot of magical place where a small community of
humans has thrived for years on end. The people have been so long that they have adapted to the
darkness and have purple eyes (Collins). In this place of mystery, Gregor is welcomed and made
comfortable because they know he is from the Overland , which is just the surface of the Earth, and is

aspects of computer forensics. Seeing that technology is such a major part of everyone s lives,
computer forensics can play an significant role in any investigation now a days. People uses electrical
devices to communicate, record information, This paper looks to provide simple information with
respect to the core technologies used in computer forensics. Subjects covered include the recovery of
deleted data, the value of memory forensics, techniques for recovering and analyzing data from
volatile memory, and intrusions of attackers and tracking them. Computer forensics is the
investigation of computer devices to gather and preserve certain information that can be utilized in a
court of law for prosecution. The goal of computer forensics is to bring out a structured investigation

The Accounting Treatment Of Leases
Introduction
According to Steve Collings (2010), the accounting treatment of leases has presented a lot of problems
over the years for the particular profession. Problems are observed in the way some leases are being
treated in a business income statement and statement of financial position. Although, as we are going
to expand more on that, the major problem of accounting for leases according to Collings (2010), is
the manipulation of financial statements by incorrectly categorizing finance leases as operating leases
. The main purpose of the essay is to discuss why accounting for leases has been so controversial and
whether the new standard (IFRS16) will give a more meaningful picture of companies financial
position for lessees. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Accounting Treatment for lessees
Finance Leases
According to IAS 17.20, at the beginning of the lease term, lessees shall recognise finance leases as
assets and liabilities in their statements of financial position at a lower or equal amount to the fair
value of the leased property and the present value of the minimum lease payments, determined at the
start of the lease. The discount rate used in calculation of the present value of the minimum lease
payments is the interest rate implied in the lease, if only is it feasible to determine. If it is not possible,
the lessee s incremental borrowing rate could be used. Therefore, any initial direct costs of the lessee
are added to the amount recognised as an asset. Furthermore, as stated by IAS 17.25, finance lease
payments should be allocated

Dependent Personality Disorder ( Dpd )
I. Dependent Personality Disorder:
Dependent Personality Disorder (DPD) according to the The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders (5th ed.; DSM 5; American Psychiatric Association, 2013) is categorized under
cluster C in personality disorders exhibiting traits of anxiety and fearfulness. Criteria specifies that an
individual demonstrates significant deviation in behavior and life experience according to a person s
cultural norms in at least two of the following areas: impulse control, interpersonal functioning,
affectivity, and cognition. Moreover, the disturbance must originate from at least adolescence,

More significantly, eighty one percent of women experiencing multiple abusive relationships
demonstrated PTSD and higher psychopathology compared to women experiencing a single abusive
relationship.
Personality disorder symptoms are higher among violent women and female offenders arrested for
domestic violence continue to rise in number (Goldenson, Geffner, Foster, Clipson, 2007). Male
offenders were found to have history of attachment, trauma, and features of personality disorders.
Bornstein (2012) found negative consequences of dependency in incarcerated men with charges of
child abuse into the following categories: (a) nonsexual offending psychopaths; (b) sexual homicide
perpetrators; and (c) nonviolent pedophiles.
Although many dependent clients prefer to use passive, submissive social strategies, most dependent
clients are capable of using more assertive, outward expressions of anger, and destructive strategies
when key relationships are at risk (Bornstein, 2012). Moreover, DPD has been linked with increased
risk of self harming behaviors such as suicidal gestures causing harm to themselves and others
(Bornstein, 2012). More women made previous suicide attempts than the men, and women were more
likely to have used or to be using psychotropic medication (Goldenson, Geffner,

How Can Adversity be Advantageous Essay
Adversity puts people in difficult or unpleasant situations which can create very strong emotions that
can help or harm. When people face adversity, it is seen as a challenge and whether or not they
overcome the challenge is personal. However regardless of whether adversity helps or harms, it is
advantageous because it offers a challenge to overcome which builds character. I believe it to be true
of the whole human race that when something pushes you down you look to find a way out of it. We
always try our best to overcome adversity and that can make us stronger. In many cases the workers
that a lot of us pay to clean and cook are faced with adversity from the start. As young kids growing

Clint Dempsey is a soccer player, probably the greatest American soccer player in the world right now.
He was born into a poor family in Texas that lived in a trailer. He was given very little things, however
he still had the opportunity to play soccer due to his company and culture. His sister died at the age of
16 due to a brain disease, which Dempsey says motivated him to do better. The other kids in poverty
around him were hispanics who loved the sport of soccer. And seemingly Clint must have enjoyed it
too because he was able to play on clubs travel around the united States and go to college all because
of his skills at soccer. It shows that adversity can affect a people, but it cannot deeply affect a culture,
a way of life. If nothing it strengthens it because of history and the importance of family and friends in
times of adversity. Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger, introduces us to Holden Caulfield is one of my
favorite characters because of his immaturity and confusion, or lack of understanding of his own
mind. He tends to change opinion, say strong remarks, and act very childish throughout the book.
Because he hasn t grown up. He hates most of the things he comes across during the novel. His

How To Prevent Zika Disease
Preventing an outbreak of Zika in Mississippi Throughout the Caribbean, Central, and South America
there has been health crisis that s has been affecting the youngest generation of these developing
countries. Thousands of babies have been born with a birth defect known as microencephaly. This
birth defect can cause horrible problems such as seizures, mental retardation, developmental delays,
short stature and difficulties with coordination and balance. (Centers for Disease Control 2017) This

What are the prevention techniques our state is investing in? What can we do to try and prevent
ourselves and our families from getting Zika? The CDC is currently tracking the spread of the Zika
virus throughout the world and teaching local healthcare providers how to detect case of the Zika
virus. They are also providing support for local hospital laboratories to provide testing if the hospital
cannot provide it and preforming confirmatory testing for those labs that do provide that type of
testing. The CDC is also doing research on the link between Zika virus and the birth defects that it
causes. They also educate people about the Zika virus and issue travel warnings on the place that have
outbreaks. CDC is also recommending that all men that travel to countries with travel warnings to
practice safe sex for a while after returning from those trips because it is suspected that Zika can be
passed through semen. President Obama signed a release of emergency funds that has provided $1.8
billion dollars to help accelerate research into a vaccine for Zika. (USA Today 2016) Another method
that is being tried in countries like Brazil is the release of genetically modified male mosquitoes.
These male mosquitoes have genetically modified genes that will cause their offspring to die quickly
so that they will never reach maturity and since male mosquitoes do not bite they cannot spread
disease. The biotech company Oxitec which is behind this concept, has stated that it can reduce
populations by 80%. (Stein 2016) This has been deemed a safe method of mosquito reduction by the
U.S. Food and Drug Administration. (Stein 2016) This method is controversial but it does reduce the
overall amount of pesticide that is used to control the mosquitoes. Another method that is being used

give Medtronic a great advantage on their competitors. Medtronic also has subsidiary companies

Covidien is one of the many companies that are a division of Medtronic that will help to increase the

Lincoln s Emancipation of the Slaves Essay
The Emancipation Proclamation speech was actually intended for most of the people that would free
the slaves, not to the slaves. According to Carl Rollyson the Proclamation was not intended for the
slave, blacks, or former slaves. The Emancipation Proclamation speech was during the Antislavery
Movement or what some people call the Abolitionist Movement, during the 1860 s. The main leaders
of the abolitionist movement were Abraham Lincoln and Fredrick Douglas. The point of Lincoln
writing the speech about emancipating the slaves was to free the slaves and win the civil war. Lincoln
had written a speech titled The Emancipation Proclamation . He wrote this speech and signed it in
January of 1863 in Washington, D.C. The theme of t¬he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lincoln had many purposes of writing the speech about the emancipation of the slaves.
Lincoln most likely had many reasons to write this speech, but there was one main reason that stood
out the most to Veronica Majerol. Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation to transform the
nature of the Civil War such as, helping the Union secure victory in the Civil Car. In addition, it had
freed the slaves in all of the confederate states but not in the Union states because he did not want to
lose his support in the northern states. If Lincoln would have freed the slaves in the entire United
States of America he would have lost all of his supporters in the north that had slaves. In addition he
would have lost the civil war because of his lack of troops. It authorized the enlistment of free blocks
for armed service, free slaves from farms (Majerol). Therefore, Lincoln signed the Emancipation
Proclamation because he wanted the support of the blacks so that they could join and help them win
the Civil War. Lincoln signed the proclamation because he knew that the blacks would make up most
of the soldiers in the civil war. ...blacks made up about twenty percent of the Union Army, tipping the
balance of military power decisively in favor of the Union (Majerol). Resulting in the fact that Lincoln

Strength does not lie in numbers, but rather in accumulated experiences. Some people choose to live
in such a way that every fathomable opportunity is seized, while others bow down to grief and avoid
the gift of pleasure out of pure fear. In Sara Teasdale s poem Lessons , she lyrically explores the idea
that individuals have a great bounty of life experiences to enjoy. Life is too short and this earth is too
plentiful to not take advantage of every unusual and thrilling opportunity, including understanding and
facing our rawest emotions. Through diction and personification, Teasdale iterates that opposed to
shrinking away from moments in time that may make us uncomfortable, individuals should embrace

Herman Melville s Bartleby The Scrivener
Bartleby the Scrivener delves into the life of a worker at a New York City Law firm. Herman Melville
provides a drab and bleak outlook on the conditions of labor and mental state of the workers at the
firm. Though the story can be seen as a depiction of the isolation and lack of passion found in big city
labor, I believe that Melville provides much more in his writing. Within the details provided in the
story, he manages to forge a metaphor for the power of transcendental ideals such as self reliance and
choice within a society. He illustrates a culture run not by one s own beliefs, but rather the generalized
other and people plagued by authoritarian ideals. By the end of the tale of Bartleby and his influence
within the firm Melville strives to change society by informing the reader of the importance of non
conformity and belief in one s ideals, but also the danger of following through with that in society.
Melville initially creates a setting that adds a sense of desolation and dreariness within the office, as
shown with the unobstructed view of a lofty brick wall, black with age and everlasting shade. This
provides a general outlook on the law firm as a place of sadness, routine work, and isolation. The idea
of being surrounded by wall also further depicts a sense of being physically trapped within their
office, and possibly symbolically in their job or capitalist culture. In addition to the bleak atmosphere
at the office, the workers at the firm are people who have

Q1. Explain service blue printing and how it helps in service design.
Service Blueprinting is a method within the Service Engineering process that enables the user to have
a framework for viewing service improvement. It is a visual tool that helps one see the experience a
customer has with the service from a holistic viewpoint. It gives not just the end to end view of the
experience, but also exposes the behind the scenes work that shows how the experience is designed
and more importantly how it was delivered.
The process of building a service blue print involves the below steps:
1. The identification of the service process, that is supposed to be blueprinted
2. The identification of the customer segment / customers who are supposed to experience the service
3. Picturing the service from the customer s perspective
4. Picturing the actions of the contact employee (onstage and backstage), and/or technology actions
5. Linking the contact activities to the needed support functions
6. Adding the evidence of service for every customer action step Blueprinting a service helps to
display the real moments of the service provision and provides a better understanding of the process

My First Day
My First Time at The Lake
My first time at the lake I can remember it like it was yesterday. It had a teardrop silver color to it, and
from where I was standing I couldn t see anything but miles and miles of water. As if it never ended. I
could feel the wind as it blew my new hair do, and caressed my cheekbones. The air smelled of fresh
water and the sand was soft between my toes. The scene was magnificent, and the only sound was
birds chirping from afar. I think back to the smell of the fresh cut grass and the way the sun was
shining bright in the clear blue sky. I remember running to the water bending down to take a sip, it
was beautiful I just knew it had to taste as good as it looked. Most of all I can remember it being
relaxing and beautiful, and I couldn t wait to get started on our first weekend at the lake with my
family. On our first day we all decided to go fishing me, my mother, and my dad. Which was funny
because I m terrified of worms and fish. I m terrified of anything that s not human and has four or
more legs. Soon my dad began gathering the fishing equipment, and my mother started putting the rest
of the things on the boat, in the mean time I decided to pick up some rocks and throw them in the lake.
Each one that hit the water made ripples, and I ll never forget the funny noise they made as they hit
sinking to the bottom of the lake. After my dad saw what I was doing I remember him getting

the bar, already half wasted. Tonight was his 25th birthday, and his stage persona Joji s 57th show

what he loves, he s making more money than what he knows what do with, and he can get any girl he
wants. But no amount of women, money, and fame could fill the void she left in him. George takes a
seat at the bar, and the bartender nonchalantly asks him what he ll have. Something to mess me up, he
manages to spit out. It s almost as if you could hear the booze on his breath as well as you could smell

author addresses the question of sweatshops are justified in violating local labor laws. Then the author
pointed out that the global market competitions are the fundamental reason for growing sweatshops.
Finally, the author provides some recent literature, which applies to the ban exploitation of sweatshop

The Effects Of Prosopagnosia
Imagine a world wherein you meet someone again and again. Imagine a world wherein faces and
objects are just blurred images that all look alike. Imagine having to learn other ways in order to

characterized by severely impaired face recognition (Dalyrmple, Garrido Duchaine, 2014). With this
kind of disease, one can t recognize their own family and close friends who have been with you for a

Prosopagnosia is when an individual can t acquire the certain processes for facial recognition. More
recent neurocognitive models of face processing also distinguish between face recognition processes
involved in the visual analysis of faces, and those involved in facial familiarity (Dalyrmple, Garrido

Why Did Baroque Concerto Changed During The Baroque Era
The baroque concerto has proved to be a very formative aspect of classical music. Without the
emergence of the concerto, music would not be as it is today. Concerto composers changed the way
music was perceived and defied musical norms, introducing new and exciting patterns, sequences, and
combinations.
Concertos have changed drastically throughout the years. What were deemed concertos during the
baroque era, will not always qualify as a concerto by modern definition. A concerto was originally
defined as multiple instruments or voices performing together, typically a piece combining voices and
instruments often in larger numbers. The definition has since changed as the concerto has become a
more distinguishable work. Today, concertos involve a soloist pitted against an orchestra or ensemble
contrasting in movement. Contrast and unity were, ironically, both basic elements of the baroque
concerto. The principal of the concerto was to unite two differing bodies of sound. The term Concerto
is a derivative of the latin term concertare which translates as to contend with. The first composer to
write a work designated as a concerto was Giuseppe Torelli.. Before they were appointed the term
concerto, his early works were known as sonatas and sinfonias. From Torelli s works of early
concerto, inspiration arose. Composers such as J.S. Bach, Corelli, and Vivaldi adopted this new style
and created their own masterpieces out of it.
There are two types of concerti that were popular during the baroque Era: Solo Concerto and Concerto
Grosso. The solo concerto includes one solo instrument set against an orchestra. An excellent example
of the solo concerto is Vivaldi s Four Seasons, a set of Violin Concertos. Sonority and virtuoso
instrumentalists experimented a lot with the solo concerto. The violin was featured in the solo
concerto more than any other instrument. A violin soloist would play something as the orchestra
played against it. The common movement for the solo concerto is allegro, adagio, allegro (fast, then
slow, then fast again.) Concerto grosso involves a small group of soloists and an orchestra. J.S. Bach s
six Brandenburg concertos fall under this category. This type of concerto is based on opposition

Ethical Implications Of Moral Dilemmas
Moral dilemmas are terrifying when deciding whether people should live or die based on their
relationship and beliefs. What would be more ethical? Killing one person in front of five people before
they die or killing five people in front of one (Feldman). Many ethical implications can affect the
decision one may decide when determining who lives and who dies based on how people are on the
trolley. In this scenario, I m in charge of the trolley and these are the facts.
Scenario one, There are five people on the track the direction the trolley is traveling, the options are to
switch the track that will allow the trolley to travel on a different track or let the trolley stay on the
same track and kill all five of the individuals. In this situation, I m going to switch the track, of course
to save those five individuals. Scenario two, similar to scenario one, but one unaware person is on the
opposite side of the train track and based on the information I can either save one life and kill five or
save one and kill five. According to society, killing one person to save five is for the greater good. But,
life just doesn t work that one which leads me to Scenario three, also similar to two, but on the
opposite side of the trolley the individual who is unaware of the trolley is my sibling.
As children, we are taught to protect our family and siblings who can t defend themselves. My
relevant Values and Concepts are my loyalty to my family and my duty to protect my younger
siblings. Although I m sacrificing those five other individual lives I don t have the courage and it s not
in my norm to decide to kill five people over my family. I don t want to kill innocent people, but my
heart is with my family and the ethical decision making in this situation is deciding based on my belief
and sometimes in life you have to sacrifice one thing for the other. For example, the Eye for an eye
theory. There are a few possible moral dilemmas for each scenario. Scenario one, the ethics of care.
The ethical system that defines good as meeting the needs of others (Cengage Learning). Scenario

Essay about The Italian Immigrants of Post-1880
Between 1880 and 1920 more than 4.1 million Italians were recorded as entering the United States
(Daniels, p. 188). The Italian immigrants of post 1880 were different from other immigrant groups by
these topics of religion, labor, family orientation, politics, and education. The 1880s brought a change
not only in the amount of Italian immigrants but also the characteristic of them as a group. This group
of immigrants was incredibly male dominated, in comparison to the other immigrants of this time,
most settling in New York and Chicago. The living conditions that these Italians encountered were not

The padrone system faded out as family networks grew. The relationships of their family were
essentially the only connection they had. They did not rely on politics or get involved in public office.
They tended to only associate with family or fellow Italians in the area. For this reason, mafias
emerged in America because of the strong devotion to family and eventually family business. The
Italians were mostly Catholic with the belief that priests were agents of the pope and bishops (Daniels,
p. 197). As more Italians arrived, they began to form distinct enclaves in neighborhoods first settled by
earlier immigrants. Interestingly the issue of diet among immigrant workers received attention during
this time. Italian Laborers, Padrones, and Pernicious Pasta reads, In the process, Italian foods were
redefined as a problem for the fitness, health, and future prosperity of the Italian worker and therefore
a threat to workplace efficiency and productivity (Slideshow 7: Additional Links). The padrone system
became concerned with the foods their workers ate because it could affect the way they worked and
essentially the way the padroni was paid. In 1890, Jacob Riis, a Danish immigrant and police reporter

Cultural Relativism And Its Impact On Society Essay
Though cultural relativism initially appears to be a logical conclusion for the diametrically opposed
cultures of various countries existing on earth, it does not consider the possibility of quantifying
specific aspects of society, culture, and an individual s life to create an objective comparison between
cultures. It also does not entertain the possibility of observing that, while there are ideological
dissimilarities interspersed throughout the earth, some political, cultural, or religious ideologies result
in an increased quality of life for those who are constituents of a certain society.
A fundamental aspect of cultural relativism is the recognition of deviation from the observer s own
cultural and societal emphasis, and accepting that ideas are not inherently good or bad , but instead
exist in some infallible category defined as different . This creates a self perpetuating cycle that leads
to lack of reformation derived from the desire to maintain the façade of thoughtfulness and acceptance
regarding all cultures. Whilst universal morality is a contentious topic, and for the purpose of this
argument we shall assume it does not exist (due to the existence of such leading to a quantifiable
methodology of assessing cultures moral integrity, which would make this entire argument of cultural
relativism redundant), there is the conceptualization of innate, ubiquitous desires of humanity such as
personal freedom and perceived equality in terms of social status (1).

The Stereotypes Of African Americans
African Americans have been oppressed ever since slavery was abolished and it seems to be a never
ending cycle. White Americans oppressed the black population because they needed a way to remind
everyone of their so called supremacy. They did this through many different ways but the most
common were by theatrical performances. Ever since the minstrelsy shows the negative stereotypes of
African Americans seem to keep growing. According to the book Toms, Coons, Mulattoes, Mammies,
and Bucks, in almost every American movie in which a black had appeared, filmmakers had been
trying to maintain the myth that Negroes were naturally rhythmic and natural born entertainers.
There are many stereotypes that the film industry will never get tired of enforcing. In 2002 the film
Paid In Full was released. Paid In Full was a film about a young man who was working in a cleaning
shop but he encounters a drug dealer. The drug dealer convinces him to join and he becomes one of
the top leaders of the drug cartel. He also recruits his friends and they join him as well. The uncle of
the protagonist asks him for money but he refuses to give him some. The uncle kidnaps Ace, the
protagonist s brother, and eventually kills him because Ace was not able to recruit the amount of
money that his uncle was demanding. This film sends the negative message that African Americans

Fifty Shades Of Grey Analysis
Dominant Men versus Submissive Women
In Beaumont s version of Beauty and the Beast and Fifty Shades of Grey written by E. L. James, the
male figure is portrayed as beast like and dangerous whereas on the contrary the female is vulnerable
and submissive to the male. Both Beauty and Anastasia are in patriarchal relationships and give into
the desires of the dominant male figure in their lives and this creates a lack of power for the female
gender. Throughout Beaumont s version of Beauty and the Beast the idea of a patriarchal relationship
was evident between Beauty and the Beast. The Beast used the tactic of manipulation and had
complete control over Beauty ultimately leading to her falling in love with him. Every night the Beast

In Beauty and the Beast society was given a first hand look at the relationship between the dominant
man and submissive female. Since then, the amount of storylines that follow this plot are countless. In
Beaumont s version of Beauty and the Beast, Beast manipulated Beauty to fall in love with him by
constantly asking her to marry him. When he starved himself leading to his almost death she was in a
vulnerable state and eventually became submissive and gave into the Beasts wishes. On the contrary
in Fifty Shades of Grey Christian took advantage of the idea that Anastasia liked him and made her
sign a contract if she wanted to be with him. These two dominant men got what they wanted through
manipulation creating a sense of lacking power for the female gender. Women are supposed to be
nurturing and accepting whereas men are dominant and

Regina Galindo Research Paper
Regina Jose Galindo was born in 1974 in Guatemala. She currently lives and works in Guatemala.
Regina practices her art works with her own body. Her works are based on violence or any cruelty
caused by certain political events and personal disgrace. Those works are open to the public and to
whoever relates to what is being depicted in the art work. (Regina Jose Galindo Portfolio, 2014).
Galindo won the Golden Lion award in 2005 as the best artist under 35 at the 51st. Venice Biennale.
Two years later, she sold this award to a Spanish artist, Santiago Sierra, who in return sold back to a
collector. Ironically, in 2011 she decided to order an exact copy of the award to her friends, Angel and
Fernando Poyón who were sculptors in Guatemala. Her friends gave her the exact copy, but this time
the Golden Lion was casted in bronze coated in Guatemalan gold. Regina s work is also present in
private and public collections, such as the Pompidou, Guggenheim, Rivoli Museum in Torino, or the

Her body was motionless with no clothes on, and she was in a extremely cold room. Some pieces of
clothes were on the ground at her feet. Different people entered the room, and it was up to them to put
the clothes on her, or leave her in the cold. I found this a very interesting practice, because with this
experiment you can see the level of humanity in people. She let people decide whether to do
something for her when she was freezing to death, or to continue and leave her there. Another
interesting work was the one called Bitch (Perra). In this work, she wrote the word BITCH with a
knife on her right thigh. This work is to reflect the torture and murder affecting hundreds of
Guatemalan women every year. Many of them were found disfigured with words like bitch carved into
their bodies (Micchelli,

  • 2. Gregor the Overlander from the Overland Series by Suzanne... In today s world you never know what to believe. Because of this, many people wonder what is and isn t true, making everyone skeptical about the world. Whether it is something that could drastically change your outlook on life, or change what you eat for dinner, what we hear about in the media is never 100 percent accurate and believable. For example, one thing that we can never be sure of is what happens to us when we pass on into the afterlife. The Underworld is portrayed in many different ways in the popular media and in the world in general. Whether the Underworld is a place full of torture and pain or a place of life and prophecy, the fact still remains that you being sent there is an avoidable fate. Many of us wonder where our souls must go when we die, and most of us believe in Heaven and Hell. Some people call Hell the Underworld, and others say the Underworld is something completely different. In many cases, the Underworld could either be considered a world underneath surface of our world, or it could be just another name for Hell. In Suzanne Collins s book Gregor the Overlander from the Overland Series, the Underworld is a sot of magical place where a small community of humans has thrived for years on end. The people have been so long that they have adapted to the darkness and have purple eyes (Collins). In this place of mystery, Gregor is welcomed and made comfortable because they know he is from the Overland , which is just the surface of the Earth, and is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Accounting Treatment Of Leases Introduction According to Steve Collings (2010), the accounting treatment of leases has presented a lot of problems over the years for the particular profession. Problems are observed in the way some leases are being treated in a business income statement and statement of financial position. Although, as we are going to expand more on that, the major problem of accounting for leases according to Collings (2010), is the manipulation of financial statements by incorrectly categorizing finance leases as operating leases . The main purpose of the essay is to discuss why accounting for leases has been so controversial and whether the new standard (IFRS16) will give a more meaningful picture of companies financial position for lessees. ... When people face adversity, it is seen as a challenge and whether or not they overcome the challenge is personal. However regardless of whether adversity helps or harms, it is advantageous because it offers a challenge to overcome which builds character. I believe it to be true of the whole human race that when something pushes you down you look to find a way out of it. We always try our best to overcome adversity and that can make us stronger. In many cases the workers that a lot of us pay to clean and cook are faced with adversity from the start. As young kids growing up having very little it s difficult to get out of ... According to Carl Rollyson the Proclamation was not intended for the slave, blacks, or former slaves. The Emancipation Proclamation speech was during the Antislavery Movement or what some people call the Abolitionist Movement, during the 1860 s. The main leaders of the abolitionist movement were Abraham Lincoln and Fredrick Douglas. The point of Lincoln writing the speech about emancipating the slaves was to free the slaves and win the civil war. Lincoln had written a speech titled The Emancipation Proclamation . Lincoln had many purposes of writing the speech about the emancipation of the slaves. Lincoln most likely had many reasons to write this speech, but there was one main reason that stood out the most to Veronica Majerol. Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation to transform the nature of the Civil War such as, helping the Union secure victory in the Civil Car. In addition, it had freed the slaves in all of the confederate states but not in the Union states because he did not want to lose his support in the northern states. If Lincoln would have freed the slaves in the entire United States of America he would have lost all of his supporters in the north that had slaves. In addition he would have lost the civil war because of his lack of troops. It authorized the enlistment of free blocks for armed service, free slaves from farms (Majerol). Life is too short and this earth is too plentiful to not take advantage of every unusual and thrilling opportunity, including understanding and facing our rawest emotions. • 11. Herman Melville s Bartleby The Scrivener Bartleby the Scrivener delves into the life of a worker at a New York City Law firm. Herman Melville provides a drab and bleak outlook on the conditions of labor and mental state of the workers at the firm. Though the story can be seen as a depiction of the isolation and lack of passion found in big city labor, I believe that Melville provides much more in his writing. Within the details provided in the story, he manages to forge a metaphor for the power of transcendental ideals such as self reliance and choice within a society. He illustrates a culture run not by one s own beliefs, but rather the generalized other and people plagued by authoritarian ideals. By the end of the tale of Bartleby and his influence within the firm Melville strives to change society by informing the reader of the importance of non conformity and belief in one s ideals, but also the danger of following through with that in society. Melville initially creates a setting that adds a sense of desolation and dreariness within the office, as shown with the unobstructed view of a lofty brick wall, black with age and everlasting shade. This provides a general outlook on the law firm as a place of sadness, routine work, and isolation. The idea of being surrounded by wall also further depicts a sense of being physically trapped within their office, and possibly symbolically in their job or capitalist culture. In addition to the bleak atmosphere at the office, the workers at the firm are people who have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Quality Improvement First of all, what is quality improvement? Quality Improvement (QI) has being define by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) the way to which patient care services increase the possibility of desired health outcomes and are consistent with the professional knowledge. • 29. Why Did Baroque Concerto Changed During The Baroque Era The baroque concerto has proved to be a very formative aspect of classical music. Without the emergence of the concerto, music would not be as it is today. Concerto composers changed the way music was perceived and defied musical norms, introducing new and exciting patterns, sequences, and combinations. Concertos have changed drastically throughout the years. What were deemed concertos during the baroque era, will not always qualify as a concerto by modern definition. A concerto was originally defined as multiple instruments or voices performing together, typically a piece combining voices and instruments often in larger numbers. The definition has since changed as the concerto has become a more distinguishable work. Today, concertos involve a soloist pitted against an orchestra or ensemble contrasting in movement. Contrast and unity were, ironically, both basic elements of the baroque concerto. The principal of the concerto was to unite two differing bodies of sound. The term Concerto is a derivative of the latin term concertare which translates as to contend with. The first composer to write a work designated as a concerto was Giuseppe Torelli.. Before they were appointed the term concerto, his early works were known as sonatas and sinfonias. From Torelli s works of early concerto, inspiration arose. Composers such as J.S. Bach, Corelli, and Vivaldi adopted this new style and created their own masterpieces out of it. There are two types of concerti that were popular during the baroque Era: Solo Concerto and Concerto Grosso. The solo concerto includes one solo instrument set against an orchestra. An excellent example of the solo concerto is Vivaldi s Four Seasons, a set of Violin Concertos. Sonority and virtuoso instrumentalists experimented a lot with the solo concerto. The violin was featured in the solo concerto more than any other instrument. A violin soloist would play something as the orchestra played against it. The common movement for the solo concerto is allegro, adagio, allegro (fast, then slow, then fast again.) Concerto grosso involves a small group of soloists and an orchestra. J.S. Bach s six Brandenburg concertos fall under this category. This type of concerto is based on opposition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Killing one person in front of five people before they die or killing five people in front of one (Feldman). Many ethical implications can affect the decision one may decide when determining who lives and who dies based on how people are on the trolley. In this scenario, I m in charge of the trolley and these are the facts. Scenario one, There are five people on the track the direction the trolley is traveling, the options are to switch the track that will allow the trolley to travel on a different track or let the trolley stay on the same track and kill all five of the individuals. In this situation, I m going to switch the track, of course to save those five individuals. Scenario two, similar to scenario one, but one unaware person is on the opposite side of the train track and based on the information I can either save one life and kill five or save one and kill five. According to society, killing one person to save five is for the greater good. But, life just doesn t work that one which leads me to Scenario three, also similar to two, but on the opposite side of the trolley the individual who is unaware of the trolley is my sibling. This group of immigrants was incredibly male dominated, in comparison to the other immigrants of this time, most settling in New York and Chicago. The relationships of their family were essentially the only connection they had. They did not rely on politics or get involved in public office. They tended to only associate with family or fellow Italians in the area. For this reason, mafias emerged in America because of the strong devotion to family and eventually family business. The Italians were mostly Catholic with the belief that priests were agents of the pope and bishops (Daniels, p. 197). • 37. Cultural Relativism And Its Impact On Society Essay Though cultural relativism initially appears to be a logical conclusion for the diametrically opposed cultures of various countries existing on earth, it does not consider the possibility of quantifying specific aspects of society, culture, and an individual s life to create an objective comparison between cultures. It also does not entertain the possibility of observing that, while there are ideological dissimilarities interspersed throughout the earth, some political, cultural, or religious ideologies result in an increased quality of life for those who are constituents of a certain society. A fundamental aspect of cultural relativism is the recognition of deviation from the observer s own cultural and societal emphasis, and accepting that ideas are not inherently good or bad , but instead exist in some infallible category defined as different . This creates a self perpetuating cycle that leads to lack of reformation derived from the desire to maintain the façade of thoughtfulness and acceptance regarding all cultures. Whilst universal morality is a contentious topic, and for the purpose of this argument we shall assume it does not exist (due to the existence of such leading to a quantifiable methodology of assessing cultures moral integrity, which would make this entire argument of cultural relativism redundant), there is the conceptualization of innate, ubiquitous desires of humanity such as personal freedom and perceived equality in terms of social status (1). ... White Americans oppressed the black population because they needed a way to remind everyone of their so called supremacy. They did this through many different ways but the most common were by theatrical performances. Ever since the minstrelsy shows the negative stereotypes of African Americans seem to keep growing. According to the book Toms, Coons, Mulattoes, Mammies, and Bucks, in almost every American movie in which a black had appeared, filmmakers had been trying to maintain the myth that Negroes were naturally rhythmic and natural born entertainers. There are many stereotypes that the film industry will never get tired of enforcing. In 2002 the film Paid In Full was released. Paid In Full was a film about a young man who was working in a cleaning shop but he encounters a drug dealer. The drug dealer convinces him to join and he becomes one of the top leaders of the drug cartel. He also recruits his friends and they join him as well. The uncle of the protagonist asks him for money but he refuses to give him some. The uncle kidnaps Ace, the protagonist s brother, and eventually kills him because Ace was not able to recruit the amount of money that his uncle was demanding. This film sends the negative message that African Americans will go to any extend, betraying their own family members, in order to obtain power and money. As the movie industry progresses ...
