The Black Lace Fan My Mother Gave Me
Practice Commentary: The Black Lace Fan My Mother Gave Me Eavan Bolland s The Black Lace
Fan my Mother Gave me from her book, Outside History (1990) gives readers the first impression that
the poem is about the value of a fan that has been passed down to her. However, based on the title, the
term black lace raises a sense of mystery and darkness as black lace is not completely see through,
there are spots that need to be filled in. To illustrate the value of the black lace fan, the speaker, who is
unknown, narrates on how the mother received it and also used very vivid descriptions on its
significance. To add to the sense of mystery suggested by the title, the use of him and her instead of
actual names enhances this quality of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shortness of the sentence, She stood up acts as a sudden pause in the story, as though this abrupt
action has frozen time. In the next few lines, Bolland uses a miserable tone to reflect on the mother s
mood. To emphasize this sense of misery, she uses the three rhyming words, emptying , killing and
lighting , which have the connotations of bitterness and depression. Bolland also uses pathetic fallacy
to reflect on the emotions of the mother, stating that the distance smelled of rain and lightning. The
distance that is mentioned here may symbolize how distant she and her lover is now. At this point, the
readers would feel a sense of pathos towards this character. Hence, the third stanza is a transitioning
phase between her presence of the current situation and her stream of consciousness. As mentioned
before, the mother loses touch with the real world and is engaged in the beauty and delicacy of the
black lace fan. Bolland s use of visual imagery is impressive, as the readers get to have a clear picture
of the texture and details of the fan. The lines that read These are wild roses, appliqued on silk by
hand, Darkly picked, stitched boldly, quickly. make the description of the fan sound much more
interesting as Bolland has used

Is Freedom Of Contract Outdated By Parliamentary And...
Is freedom of contract outdated by parliamentary and judicial intervention?
Freedom of contract is the right to choose ones contracting parties and to trade with them on any terms
and conditions one sees fit contract permits individuals to create their own legal rules, adapted to their
unique situations free from government interference, imposed values, and Judgments of fairness. The
main notion or ideology of freedom of contract was given one of it its most famous legal expressions
in 1875 by Sir George jessell. men of full age and competent understanding shall have the utmost
liberty of contracting when entered into freely and voluntarily shall be held sacred and shall be
enforced by the courts of justice the courts are not too ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A case example would be Hutton v warren
Another method would be terms implied as fact are based on the imputed intention of the parties and
the courts have more than one way to imply this within a contract and therefore two tests have been
developed, first of all the officious bystander test which originated from the shirlaw v southern
foundries 1926 ( remember to reference LJ mackinnon prima facie) which in practically had an
officious bystander been present at the time the contract was being made and had suggested that a
such a term should be included, it must be obvious that both parties would have agreed to it.
The second test is the Business efficacy test (mention Moorcock) this asks whether the term is
necessary to give the contract business efficacy for instance would the contract make business sense
without it. The courts will only imply a term where is necessary to do so (contract law by Neil
Andrews 2015 pg 333 13.01 (4) ) but yet it is argued that (try to mention a case) the officious by
stander test trumps the test in the Moorcock (1889): if a putative term which is supported by the
business efficacy does not also satisfy the officious bystander test the courts will refuse to recognise it
as term to be implied in fact (paraphrase this text:) (Contract law by Neil Andrews 2015 pg 342 13.10)
Furthermore there would be circumstances in which courts will realise that the officious bystander rule
cannot apply. (Try

The Personal Effects Of Plastic Surgery
The Personal Effects of Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery dates back to somewhere around 2000 B.C. and has only advanced since that time.
Today people all over the world get these procedures done for many reasons. Some reasoning behind
individuals getting plastic surgery is to fix a birth defect, deformability, or for cosmetic purposes. In
today s society, getting plastic surgery for cosmetics purposes is very popular but with that comes
many negative comments or thoughts towards that person getting these surgeries. Cosmetic surgery
impact not just the person receiving it but everyone that sees those new features or changes. In the
world we now live in I think body image is a big factor in many people s lives. A lot of people do not
always feel comfortable in their own skin because of the different models and actresses or actors seen
on television. I think when we see those different people on television or on the internet, we think that
s how we should be able to look, this can make people have negative thoughts about their own body.
In all reality, most of those people we see on television, magazines and social networks; almost all of
those people have had some sort of plastic surgery to change their appearance. While these people
change themselves they can send thousands of dollars on just one procedure. When someone has had
over ten procedure done to themselves that dollar amount really starts to add up and that s just of the
negative effects of getting plastic surgery.

Analysis of the European Union’s Role as a Model...
Intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) are defined by Kegley (2009) as institutions created and
joined by states governments, which give them authority to make collective decisions to manage
particular problems on the global agenda (p. 163). The purpose of IGOs is to solve shared problems on
the basis of involving states interests. In other words, states utilize community of interest to balance
the international situation between neighborhoods. According to Kegley (2009), a global trend in
world politics is the spectacular growth of IGOs. The European Union, as an example of IGOs, is the
globe s best success story among the other regional IGOs playing global roles (Kegley, 2009).
It created by the merger of the European Coal and Steel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, the primal six group members, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and
Netherlands, were striving for their financial development.
According to Guiso and his partners (2004), the financial integration should increase the supply of
finance in the less financially developed countries of the integrating area. So those six countries
involving in same financial integration share the same interests and also stimulate each other to
enlarge their markets, at the beginning of three organizations. They assisted each other aiming to
manage their financial problems, especially material sharing by the European Coal and Steel
Community. In addition, financial integration is likely to spur the efficiency of the financial
intermediaries and markets of less financially developed countries (Guiso, 2004).
Actually, since the late 1960s, the three original EU institutions have shared a common organization
and have enlarged the EU s mission as they came to be called the European Community. (Kegley,
2009) Based on this large community, the other more European countries joined in this supranational
organization in order to earn financial development under sharing common interests. From that time,
the membership of the European Union grew and its geographical scope broadened either that it
aggrandized more 15 countries by 1997. According to Dunford and Perrons (1994), the mechanisms of

Sally Ride s Impact On The World
Sally Kristen Ride was an astronaut for NASA. She was born on May 26th, 1951 in Encino, California
and died on July 23rd, 2012. She was known for being both the first woman to travel into space and
the first woman to return. In earlier years, Sally had a brief professional tennis career. Later, when she
started her career at NASA, she started out as a capsule communicator for the second and third shuttle
flights in 1981 and 1982. In 2003, she earned her place in the Astronaut Hall of Fame.
Sally Ride has impacted the world in more ways than one. She inspired women and children

Poetry Bleeding Coursework
On a brisk night of November the 7th Viento y Agua was host to Poetry Bleeding. This was the fifth
installment of the monthly poetry readings. The readers for this month seemed to have extensive
knowledge of poetry, which was nice because the poetry readings I have seen in the past have not had
this amount of star power. Overall I enjoyed my experience at Viento y Agua and appreciated the
complex poetry. My journey begun as I starred into my mirror wondering if I should wear a sweater or
a jacket. I came to the conclusion that the jacket would be a better choice, due to the fact I can tie it
around my neck like a gay flight attendant if needed. The drive there was the most memorable part of
my evening. I took PCH, with my windows down and

Tay Sachs Disease Essay
Tay Sachs is an incurable genetic disease that affects the central nervous system. It is a rare disorder
that occurs chiefly in infants and children, especially those of the Jewish heritage. It is characterized
by a red spot in the retina, paralysis, gradual blindness, and loss of muscle movement.
Tay Sachs can only be inherited, which means it is passed from parents to child only. The process
begins in the fetus, very early in pregnancy. However, the disease does not become physically
apparent until the child is several months old. Tay Sachs is caused by the absence of a vital enzyme,
called the Hex A gene, which is in chromosome 15. This gene plays an important role in the nervous
system. It breaks down the fatty substance called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parents who suspect they might be at risk are strongly encouraged to be tested before pregnancy.
Pregnant mothers can have their unborn babies tested for Hex A deficit that causes Tay Sachs. If these
tests do not detect the Hex A gene, the baby has the Tay Sachs mutation. If the tests do detect the Hex
A gene, then the baby is perfectly healthy. Between the 10th and 12th weeks of pregnancy, an
expectant mother can get a chorionic villus sampling or CVS. In this procedure, a small sample of the
placenta is drawn into a needle or small tube for analysis. Between 15 18 weeks of a pregnancy, an
expecting mother could have an amniocentesis to test for the Hex A mutation. This test involves a
needle that is inserted into the mother s belly to draw a sample of amniotic fluid that surrounds the
fetus. Children are usually tested for Tay Sachs after having hearing, sight, and movement problems.
The disease can be identified by a doctor through blood tests and screening.
Children affected by Tay Sachs disease are born seemingly normal and develop like any other child in
the first three to six months of life. Throughout the next month, and sometimes even years, the baby
will progressively lose the ability to see, hear, and move. The child will develop a cherry colored red
spot in the back of the eye and they lose or never even gain important motor and mental skills. The
child will stop smiling, crawling, sitting, turning over, and reaching for things. By

Sports Facilities East Lothian Council Website
I used the John Gray website to find out the background knowledge of sports in East Lothian and to
find famous sporting people who were born and raised in East Lothian. This centre has access to
archives and is ran by professional historians which means that this website is reliable and that the
information is accurate.
I also used National records of Scotland to find out what the population was in East Lothian and other
important details like income and employment. This is a reliable source as it is from a government
website which is highly regarded and if the information was inaccurate it was tarnish the governments
image. This was updated in September 2016 meaning that the information on this website is very up to
date.
I then used The East Lothian Council website to find out what sports facilities East Lothian had and if
they were modern. I also used it to find out if these facilities had undergone any refurbishments or
improvements in recent years. This is a reliable source the council knows what is going on in the area
and can give an accurate description of their facilities as they run them.
I used Enjoyleisure to find out how modern and up to date the sports facilities are in East Lothian and
to get a better understanding of what the supply of sports is like in this county. This is a reliable source
as Enjoyleisure works on behalf of the council and therefore the information given to the public must
be accurate. This website is update regularly meaning that the

of nursing theorists based upon individual interest. Virginia Henderson is one name that showed up
over and over and was therefore voted on to be our theorist of choice.

Virginia Henderson was born in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended the Army School of Nursing at
Walter Reed Hospital in 1921. Henderson attended Teachers College at Columbia University where
she received her Bachelor s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her contributions include defining nursing, delineating autonomous nursing functions, stressing goals
of interdependence for the patient, and creating self help concepts (Alligood, 2014, p. 45). Henderson
s theory promotes the patient s independence and encourages caring for the person s physical, mental
and spiritual being. Virginia Henderson viewed the patient as an individual who requires help toward
achieving independence and completeness or wholeness of mind and body (Alligood, 2014, p. 45).
Current day nursing practice is centered on improving patient s independence by their performance of
ADL s and mobility without assistance as well as addressing mental and spiritual

Humor in The Simpsons Essay
Humor in The Simpsons I and many other millions of people across the world believe that The
Simpson s is the best programme on television because it is funny in more ways then one. The
Simpson s uses the family lifestyle that many American TV shows have used over past (e.g. The Adam
s family, The Flintstones) but The Simpson s has proved it is a lot more popular because it uses many
more different forms of comedy which work with people from all ages. Slapstick comedy is where
someone gets hurt and you laugh but if you saw it happen in real life you d find it sick for example
when homer the father strangles his son Bart in many episodes it would be seen as child abuse in real
life but you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where Bart, Lisa and their classmates get stranded on an island and they go through the same things
as they did in the book or film. Another great example is where Bart writes I can t see dead people on
the board in the opening credits which is a parody of The sixth sense which is a supernatural film
about ghosts and there is a memorable quote where the young boy says I see dead people . Another
example of Intertextuality is where they use the idea of the matrix, which is a sci fi film where the
actors dodge bullets and move in slow motion. And in the Simpson s Bart starts running up walls and
dodging bullets and moving in slow motion and is quite enjoyable to watch because its good seeing
the Simpson s doing it. Intertextuality is a sophisticated type of comedy because the older viewers are
more likely to grasp examples of these then younger viewers. Running gags are things you will
probably see in every episode and are funny every time you see them. Running gags are jokes that are
same jokes and actions that reappear every now and again. For example Homer always strangles his
son Bart whenever he s rude or annoys Homer usually by outsmarting him. Another running gag
which I find funny is whenever the Simpson s are watching a documentary or a film the same actor

The Danger in Susan Glaspell s Trifles Essay
The Danger in Susan Glaspell s Trifles
Susan Glaspell s Trifles is a play about a real life murder case that uses symbolism to help bring it to a
close. It is easy to see that Mr. and Mrs. Wright live in a society that is cut off from the outside world
and also strongly separated by gender. Three of the key symbols in Glaspell s play are a simple bird
cage, a quilt, and isolationism. Anna Uong of Virginia Tech and Karen Shelton of JSRCC share these
same ideas on symbolism. These three symbols are the main clues that help the reader decide who
killed Mr. Wright.
The bird cage that was found is one of the most profound symbols in the story. Mrs. Hale describes
Minnie as, kind of like a bird herself, real sweet and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is said to be ?All over the place as if she didn?t know what she was about,? states Mrs.
Hale?(840). This is another clue into how enraged and flustered Minnie was.
Minnie?s last straw was when John killed her bird. When the bird died, so did
Minnie?s personality. After that murder, Minnie was enraged, confused, and didn?t know what to do.
Mrs. Hale wondered ?if she was goin? to quilt it or knot it?(840).
By quilting the blanket, she would have chosen to endure the pain that John was putting her through,
but by knotting the quilt she chose to eliminate it. Just as a knot represents a finishing or a completion
of a project, it also was an end to John. The weaving of the quilt also symbolises the building up of the
marriage and then the end of it. ?The quilt started out as a beautiful piece of art and was brought to a
close by a couple of sloppy stitches and knots?(Uong). Just like the Wright?s marriage, the quilt was
beautiful until the end where everything was simply a mess.
Isolationism also plays a very important role in the story. The Wright?s farmhouse is located in a
hallow, in the woods. This sets her in a secluded place away from most civilisation. The Wright?s
didn?t even have a phone in their house to be able to call anyone. Mr. Hale came to talk to Mr. Wright
about a phone a few times but, ?he put me off, saying folks talked too much

Quantitative Scholarly Critique
Introduction
Sex has been widely viewed as a taboo topic amongst the pre adolescents and adolescent population.
Many teens around the world are experiencing sexual activity at a more alarming age than ever before
(Anderson et al., 2011). Studies have been done to determine the causes for their sexual involvement
and interventions that can be implemented to help increase the abstinence rate. However, it has been
found that interventions should be initiated during pre adolescent years. Unfortunately, studies have
not yet determined the attitudes, experiences, and anticipation of sex among the pre teens to identify
what interventions to execute. This information is imperative for nurses to take into account when ...

In this study, the researchers used the BFY intervention starting with fifth grade students in 16
different elementary schools in Washington, D.C. (Anderson et al., 2011). The researchers followed
the students longitudinally into their sixth and seventh grade school year. Anderson et al. (2011) used
baseline data from all the children prior to initiating any interventions to examine the baseline
associations among the various sociodemographic factors and the gender psychosocial attributes,
attitudes, and knowledge characteristics related to sexuality and their experience and anticipation of
sexual activity. This was appropriate for the study. The study does not mention minimizing threats, but
it is implied by the approval from the institutional review boards of the contributing institutions and
the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) (Anderson et al., 2011).
Only students who could complete the survey in English were able to participate in the study and
special education classes were excluded from the study. Parents had to give consent to students in
order to participate as well. Of the 793 eligible students, 620 had consent forms signed ad only 562

Grupo Damm Final Strategic Recommendation
Introduction and Summary of Recommendation Grupo Damm, one of the largest beer brewers in
Spain, is a strong company in a weak home market. Although many opportunities exist for expansion,
the strongest plan for the company to embark on is an aggressive expansion of its business in the
United States. This project will give Damm access to a large consumer base with minimal risk due to
previous conservative investments in the region.
Situation Analysis Grupo Damm s current situation is the third largest beer company in Spain. It is a
large player in a market dominated by two other beer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basis for Recommendation 1. The Spanish beer market is contracting, and trying to win a larger piece
of a smaller pie will prove very costly (Appendix 2). As the Spanish recession continues, revenue will
decline as less beer is consumed and margins will shrink as consumers buy beer in supermarkets,
significantly constraining Damm s profits (Appendix 3). 2. Damm has already entered the U.S. market
via a 17% acquisition of U.S. Beverage, a specialty distributor that works mainly with premium
imports (Peet). U.S. Beverage has had a successful track record with imports in the past, and this
partnership will allow Grupo Damm to circumvent the process of having to find a reliable importer
and distributor. 3. The U.S. beer market has been growing, and more specifically, the imported
premium beer segment has been growing within the overall market (Appendix 4). Although other
markets have been shown to be growing at a higher rate (Group 6, Slide 5), the U.S. market is several
times larger at over 208 million barrels sold per year (Jones).
Financial Impact of the Recommendation Under a conservative analysis of the project, an expansion
plan in America will have a net present value of over $350 million for Grupo Damm (Appendix 5).
This project requires minimal capital expenditures because U.S. Beverage has already put much of the
groundwork in place. The main expenses Grupo Damm will face under

John Rawls And Nozick Social Justice
Views on social justice are highly important to defining the role of the state within society. The
perspectives presented by political philosophers John Rawls and Robert Nozick demonstrate two
extremely different views of societal justice and the roles that the state should have in society. To
express these views, Rawls and Nozick each form their own principles of justice, or sets of rules to
guide societal justice. In this paper, I will analyze the views of each of these thinkers. I will also argue
that Rawls principles of justice are preferable to Nozick s due to Nozick s lack of focus on societal
inequalities.
To understand Rawls principles of societal justice, it is important to first define exactly what a society
is. Rawls defines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Nozick s Theory of Entitlement, he argues that one is entitled to any holding that is gained through
just measures. However, this disregards the disadvantages that many face in society. Systematic
poverty is one of the disadvantages that is prevalent in our current society, as there is extensive
research citing the negative effects of growing up in poverty. One such study, which appeared in the
Science Magazine, gives evidence that growing up in poverty causes heightened levels of stress,
which can lead to people developing risk averse and less goal directed behavior. These psychological
changes can cause poverty to continue over generations. This is problematic because the family a
person is born into is not reflective of desert or merit. If economics were operated completely freely,
those born into disadvantaged families would have a decreased chance of reaching financial stability
purely due to natural chance. Even if all individual acquisitions and transfers of holdings are made
justly, a just society needs to have systems that help impoverished citizens find a path to financial

Comparative Analysis of the Effectiveness of WordPress Against Traditional Methods Of Website
Introduction The aim of this paper is to historically review and compare the WordPress tool and its

positive and negative elements of their respective usability based on first hand experience of the use of
both methods. Figure 1: Elements of Websites There are many common elements which both websites

The Plague Of Bubonic Plague
Essays
3. The bubonic plague was a devastating disease that rapidly swept across Europe. Also known as the
Black Death, the plague spread from port to port and started to wipe out entire civilizations. All of
Europe was eventually contaminated, with over two thirds of the population dieing to the infectious
disease. Believed to have started in 1346 when the Mongol armies overtook the Genoese trading
outpost of Caffa on the Black Sea, over half the soldiers on the boat returned dead. The quickness of
the infection and then death, brought a fear to these people they have never witnessed before. The
sudden death caused by the disease created a paranoria among the people that Armageden had arrived.
One of the reasons the bubonic plague spread so quickly, is due to the trade posts that connected
throughout all of Europe. These posts created pathways for the germs and provided travel. The deadly
microbes traveled by the land trails and sea lanes created by the Europeans. The old silk road even
became a breeding ground for the germs. It did not matter which community, class or culture one is
apart of; it infected all. The more populated a city was, the more devastation that ensued. For example,
the city of London was reduced from one hundred thousand people to just around thirty seven
thousand people. This is a massive loss which led to food shortages, work stoppages and unrest among
the survivors. The massive rate of death caused by the Black Death led people to search

Change is not always easy to come by. Sometimes change causes a good thing to go bad, while at
other times it can cause bad things to improve. Businesses have to be ready for change management at
any juncture within their life cycle if they expect to have longevity within the industries that they
operate. However, these changes can only be overcome through positive direction from leaders within
the company and through that organization s infrastructure maintaining similar mindsets throughout
its makeup. Change can carry with it a multiplicity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Comparison and Contrast
Although these three companies operate in three unrelated industries, mail delivery services,
education, and transportation, these companies reflect that work team effectiveness is topic worthy of
consideration amongst any industry. Furthermore, these three companies convey the same principles
throughout the scope of work team effectiveness. These companies believe that clear communication
across their company s structure creates an environment in which every employee and client can
understand the directions of the company. They maintain the optimal levels of communication through
training their employees as the company or industry standards evolve; then they convey this
knowledge to their clientele. To clarify these concepts of clear communication and training observe
some specific actions of each of these companies as they foster effective team atmospheres within
their organizations.
Leapfrog s leadership teams come together to ponder, network, and conduct open minded discussions
as they clarify and periodically redefine all stakeholders perspectives. They believe in spokesperson
representation to signify the sound of one collective voice. UPS covers four categories to assure their
company s leadership is effective. Those categories are 1) enhanced work

Causes Of Deforestation In Madagascar
Deforestation on the island of Madagascar, an island off of the coast of Africa, has caused major
destruction of habitat for species and a reduction in numbers of plants and trees. The island used to be
largely covered in dense forests which were home to many species of lemur and other animals. Now,
⅘ of the island is bare and uninhabitable for these animals. Deforestation on the island progresses at
around 150,000 to 200,000 hectares of forests cut down each year. Because of this many plants and
animals that only occur in the wild on Madagascar are endangered. The problem has effects on both
abiotic factors as well as the biotic factors, which include animals and plants. Some of the abiotic
things impacted include lakes and shorelines. One of the main causes for the deforestation is slash and
burn agriculture. In this technique, small areas of forest are cut down and everything is burned to clear
the area and introduce some nutrients into the ground. Then, rice is planted and grown for a few years.
After some time, all of the nutrients are depleted from the ground and rice cannot grow well anymore.
Because of this, farmers have to continuously cut down more and more forest. The reason that this is
such a common thing on Madagascar is because most people are poor and need food, so they resort to
this destructive technique that leaves land barren and unable to support growth.
The impacts on biotic factors are obvious. One third of the island s 1,600 unique species of plants

Community Service Reflection
Community service is a very special and important activity when it comes to wanting to not only
better your community but also connect with the community in a way that is not possible in your
everyday life. For this semester I experimented with a different types of community service, it ranges
all the way from giving blood to helping out my local no kill animal shelter. Doing all of these things
really opened up my eyes, it made me realize how much our community needs our help, and if we do
not put forth the effort nothing is going to change or get better. I am not saying what I did over this
semester changed anything, but I now know all the benefits of community service and hope that one
day in the near future I can contribute in a way that is beneficial to others of my community.
The very first thing I did this semester was helping my local veterans club (Veterans of Foreign Wars)
out during their busy bingo nights on Saturday. The only reason I even heard of this was because of
my mother s boyfriend, he is a Navy veteran and he asked me if I could help them out one night, and
so I did. After the first time, I realized that people take Bingo very serious, people also take their food
very seriously. The way I helped them was I would go in the kitchen and basically do everything, I
would take their orders, cook them their food, put their food on the tray, and then I had to deliver the
food to them because they had trouble walking. That is a lot of work for only two people,

Emerson 4 Seasons
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, Each moment of the year has its own beauty. There are four seasons
throughout the year and I believe that each one of them has something to offer us. Everything in life
changes like the seasons do whether it is people, where you are, and even yourself. Each change could
be ugly or beautiful. The air is crisp and the leaves are changing, that s how I know its fall. It s Friday
night, the stadium lights are on and we ve just scored a touchdown, you can hear the cheerleaders
chanting, the crowd shouting, and the band playing the George Wythe fight song. The air is chilly; it s
perfect for oversized sweatshirts, fuzzy boots, and pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks. These are the
simple, beautiful things about

Exploring Evelyn s Anxiety
Client History:
Evelyn is a 23 year old female who presents with anxiety when tasked with presenting potentially
controversial topics publically. She is a writer, and has frequently been too nervous about her
controversial pieces that she frequently wrote anonymously in the past. She is an avid follow of St.
Thomas Aquinas. Evelyn has dependency needs that came about after an unpleasant experience when
her father became angry when he left her family.
Presenting concerns:
Evelyn has developed anxiety when it comes to public speaking. She becomes anxious whenever she
must speak in front of an audience, and she is very afraid of being a television journalist. Whenever
required to speak publically, Evelyn would develop some sort of sudden illness ... Show more content

I felt it necessary to point out how strong and brave she was to call out practices in a public format
that many may not agree with. When asked why she did not put her name on her editorial pieces,
Evelyn disclosed that she was afraid of what others would think of her writing about controversial
topics. This brought us into some gender role analysis. She mentioned that the boys were the members
of the paper that got the interesting and controversial stories, while the female journalists received
assignments for more fluff pieces, so she was uncomfortable writing something against the norm with
her name attached. I mentioned to Evelyn how great it was that she was able to pull herself away from
the standard female fluff pieces and really write thought provoking articles, even if that was not what
was expected of her. As Evelyn continued to explain more about her time writing, she mentioned that
she became more willing to attach her name to many of her articles after becoming a follower of St.
Thomas Aquinas, who encourages owning up to and taking responsibility for one s own personal
views. She said that through those readings, she became more confident, adding her name to
controversial pieces, however it led to severe anxiety whenever she needed to present

Potlucks Case Study
RECOMMENDATIONS Taking the overall insights, this section provides recommendations from the
staff interviews on how to integrate food into SAGE s mission and values. It is important to note that
the recommendations provided in this section are not absolute, instead they are general ideas with the
intention of sparking the conversation around improving the Food Services Program. These
recommendations focus on SAGE s core values but also keep financial limitations and the food
expectation dilemma in mind. The issues of food literacy, building support groups, and intercultural
connection are to be addressed through the following methods:
Integrating small food events into programs
Providing cooking classes and food workshops

One option could be to keep a donation jar near the food to offset some of the money spent. The
second option would be to provide the space for hosting mini snack potlucks after programs instead.
The programs could encourage people to bring snacks to share with the group. These mini potlucks
could incorporate certain themes such as cultural food and diversity as well as healthy food. With
seniors, there could be sensitive dietary restrictions such as ones related to diabetes, lactose, and
gluten, to name a few. Hence, it is also important to keep in mind that these potlucks would need to be
regulated to ensure that all allergies and restrictions are made aware of to the group. The staff could
then decide whether certain food items should not be allowed at the potlucks or if warning labels
should be used for certain foods. This second option would not only be more financially affordable for
SAGE s programs but also, addresses the issues of the food expectation dilemma by eliminating the
constant expectation of SAGE programs providing food. It also encourages intercultural connection
through diverse foods that people can bring from their own cultures with the potential to raise
awareness about

The Success of Stephanie Meyer Essay
I d never given much thought to how I would die, but dying in the place of someone I love seems like
a good way to go. Those are the famous words that started it all, The Twilight Saga Phenomenon. The
Twilight Saga consists of four novels: Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. Stephanie
Meyer, author of the popular saga, majored in English literature at Brigham Young University. After
graduating in 1997, Meyer chose to be a stay at home mother to her three sons. The concept of the
whole saga came to her in a dream one night. When she woke up, she took a pen and paper and
documented everything that occurred in her dream. She then based all four novels on that dream
because she had a gut feeling that it was going to make a great ... Show more content on

No one besides her sister knew that she was writing a novel, little known at the time, but the
masterpiece known as Twilight. Since Meyer is a mother of three, and is busy with her kids needs and
wants all day, she would take time late at night to work on writing her novel. And in three short
months, she completed Twilight, regardless of her insignificant amount of experience in writing. In all
four works, Bella Swan in the protagonist. The story is centered around her life. All four books are
written in her perspective. Meyer usually tends to write all her stories as first person narratives,
including books that are not related to the Twilight Saga like The Host. When Meyer writes, she
becomes completely engrossed in the characters. The main reason why she writes is because of the
characters she creates. She envisions them in her brain. She talks to them all day, and they talk back.
Coming up with the perfect names for the two main characters was a very tough process. She wanted a
name that was popular decades ago, but at the same time, she wanted a name that was romantic for the
vampire. Since Meyer grew up reading Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen, she used the characters Mr.
Ferrars and Mr. Rochester from their works as an inspiration; thus leading her to choose the name
Edward. After coming up with the names for the twosome, and was still in the process of creating their
story, they would constantly talk to her. She heard their voices all day, so Meyer would

P. L. Travers Is A True Hero
As P.L. Travers once said, Could it be ... that the hero is one who is willing to set out, take the first
step, shoulder something? Perhaps the hero is one who puts his foot upon a path not knowing what he
may expect from life but in some way feeling in his bones that life expects something of him. It s true
because if there was a war outside my house the hero would take the first step and take the bullet for
me not knowing what he may expect. . P.L. Travers was an author and a writer who wrote Mary
Poppins. She is an icon because people still sing this song A hero is a person who save people and

Defining the Tragic Hero Essay
A tragic hero is the main character in a tragedy story. He is the main theme.
He is the source behind the main issues of the plot and some major points maybe cleared by observing
his actions and nature. The tragic hero is always larger than life, a person of action whose decisions
determine the fate of others. He is a man who is superior then the average person, a character of noble
stature and greatness. Though the tragic hero is pre eminently great, he is not perfect. Otherwise, the
audience would be unable to identify with him and his tragedy. His imperfection is what invokes pity
and fear in the audience. Another characteristic of a tragic hero is the fact that he is trigger by some
error of judgment or character flaw. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he is clever man, he is blind to the truth. Even though he did not know that Laius and
Jocasta are his parents, He still kills a man old enough to be his father and marry a woman old enough
to be his mother. One would think that a man with a disturbing prophesy over his head as Oedipus
should be very careful about whom he marries or kills. The fact that a tragic hero is not perfect evokes
both pity and fear. Oedipus although being a good father, husband, and son, he unwillingly destroys
his parents, wife and children. Oedipus is human, regardless of his pride, his intelligence or his
stubbornness and the audience recognize his humanity in his agonizing reaction to his sin. Watching
this, the audience certainly moved to both pity and fear, pity for this broken man and fear that his
tragedy can be their own.
The tragic hero suffers from a character flaw, a moral weakness in character. The flaw is what sets his
actions and what inevitably leads to his downfall. The hero s downfall is partially his own fault, the
result of free choice, not of accident or villainy or some overriding, malignant fate. Oedipus seems to
make important mistakes or some errors in judgment that set the events of the story into action.
Oedipus flaw is his pride and stubbornness. When a drunken man tells him that he is a bastard, his
pride is so wounded that he will not let the subject rest, eventually going to the oracle of Apollo to ask
it the

The Black Rhinoceros By Gonzaga Manzo
History dies with every animal species that becomes extinct. For years the amount African Black
Rhinoceros has been dropping significantly; the problem may be unfixable at this point.
Unfortunately, many animals on earth are facing the same tragedy. These animals are primarily from a
time that no human kept records. They are living, breathing history that will die off because the
superior species could not protect them. In this picture by Gonzaga Manzo, the Black Rhinoceros is
being worked on in an auto shop by two stumped mechanics. They stare puzzled at the large animal,
not being able to see how to fix the problem. Extinction Can t be Fixed is printed in white letters in the
upper right corner, meaning that extinction cannot be reversed with tools found in a repair shop. In
fact, it cannot be reversed at all. Gonzaga Manzo, a Spanish artist, created this image as a part of a
campaign series for the World Wide Fund for Nature for species facing extreme extinction: the Black
rhinoceros. This powerful image was primarily to stop hunting the animals, but also to raise awareness
of the dire situation. The Black Rhinoceros has become extinct in twelve African countries. They are
being hunted for their horn, which is used in certain pain killing drugs and thus is highly sought after.
Furthermore, this is a digitally edited image, which combines real images with digital elements.
Manzo did this to create a realistic photo of the Black Rhinoceros in an auto shop, even though

East Egg And West Egg In F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great...
There are two types of people, those who are consumed by money and those that have a decaying
amount. Both of those types of people crave more and more, both reside in either of the two
contrasting peninsulas, East Egg and West Egg. The two headlands have numerous amounts of
variance with each other in the novel, The Great Gatsby. Written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the narrative is
set during the 1920 s in New York City, as well as Long Island, and the two peninsulas dubbed East
Egg and West Egg. There is a striking contrast between the two regions, however, not as many
similarities. East Egg represents people who are vulgar and crude, who are also the social elite and old
money, while West Egg represents good social values and new money. Nonetheless, both areas are
equally dissatisfied with their life, always wanting more and more.
It s quite surprising that a particular location can manifest the same behavior between each family,
moral decay. East Egg is more commonly known today as Port Washington, while West Egg today is
known as Great Neck. Both Peninsulas reside along Long Island, New York. Tom and Daisy are one
of the many characters that are both from East Egg. In the text, within chapter nine, it states, Tom and
Daisy they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast
carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they
had made (Fitzgerald 187 188). The people that dwell in

Rabbits As Animal Model To Assess Impact Of Moringa...
Hormonal Studies;
In the doe
The endocrinology of reproduction is vital reproductive machineries that drive reproductive processes.
This study was designed using rabbits as animal model to assess impact of Moringa oliefera on female
fertility by determining the status of major reproductive hormones of hypothalamic pituitary gonadal
axis. Serum LH, FSH progesterone, oestradiol and prolactin are the basic essential reproductive
endocrinal biochemical biomarkers for the investigation of fertility and the functionality of

This is in line with Joshi and Joshi (1992) who reported that anti fertility herbs especially those used
as contraceptives interferes with pituitary gonadotropin secretions which affects the functionality of
ovary by direct inhabiting ovulation and interference with fertilization, implantation and gestation or
pregnancy. However, the mechanism of action is still not very clear. The phyto compounds in the test
plant responsible for the observed dose related reduction of key reproductive hormones (FSH, LH and
oestradial) may be related to flavonoids, glucosinolates, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins and
cinnamates which was reported to as effective agent in plants use for abortion ((Tarafder , 1982; Nath
et al., 1992; 1997; Amaglo et al. 2010; Coppin et al. 2013; Torres Castillo et al., 2013). These
compounds may be acting alone or in synergism to each other to influence negatively reproductive
axis to precipitate reduction in FSH, LH and oestrogen concentration observed in this study. Farooq et
al. (2012) reported that Moringa oliefera have anti fertility activity. Also, Prakash, et al., (1987) in
their study with aqueous extract of the root and bark of Moringar olieferas observed post coital anti

  • 2. The Black Lace Fan My Mother Gave Me Practice Commentary: The Black Lace Fan My Mother Gave Me Eavan Bolland s The Black Lace Fan my Mother Gave me from her book, Outside History (1990) gives readers the first impression that the poem is about the value of a fan that has been passed down to her. However, based on the title, the term black lace raises a sense of mystery and darkness as black lace is not completely see through, there are spots that need to be filled in. To illustrate the value of the black lace fan, the speaker, who is unknown, narrates on how the mother received it and also used very vivid descriptions on its significance. To add to the sense of mystery suggested by the title, the use of him and her instead of actual names enhances this quality of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The shortness of the sentence, She stood up acts as a sudden pause in the story, as though this abrupt action has frozen time. In the next few lines, Bolland uses a miserable tone to reflect on the mother s mood. To emphasize this sense of misery, she uses the three rhyming words, emptying , killing and lighting , which have the connotations of bitterness and depression. Bolland also uses pathetic fallacy to reflect on the emotions of the mother, stating that the distance smelled of rain and lightning. The distance that is mentioned here may symbolize how distant she and her lover is now. At this point, the readers would feel a sense of pathos towards this character. Hence, the third stanza is a transitioning phase between her presence of the current situation and her stream of consciousness. As mentioned before, the mother loses touch with the real world and is engaged in the beauty and delicacy of the black lace fan. Bolland s use of visual imagery is impressive, as the readers get to have a clear picture of the texture and details of the fan. The lines that read These are wild roses, appliqued on silk by hand, Darkly picked, stitched boldly, quickly. make the description of the fan sound much more interesting as Bolland has used ... • 3. Is Freedom Of Contract Outdated By Parliamentary And... Is freedom of contract outdated by parliamentary and judicial intervention? Freedom of contract is the right to choose ones contracting parties and to trade with them on any terms and conditions one sees fit contract permits individuals to create their own legal rules, adapted to their unique situations free from government interference, imposed values, and Judgments of fairness. The main notion or ideology of freedom of contract was given one of it its most famous legal expressions in 1875 by Sir George jessell. men of full age and competent understanding shall have the utmost liberty of contracting when entered into freely and voluntarily shall be held sacred and shall be enforced by the courts of justice the courts are not too ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A case example would be Hutton v warren Another method would be terms implied as fact are based on the imputed intention of the parties and the courts have more than one way to imply this within a contract and therefore two tests have been developed, first of all the officious bystander test which originated from the shirlaw v southern foundries 1926 ( remember to reference LJ mackinnon prima facie) which in practically had an officious bystander been present at the time the contract was being made and had suggested that a such a term should be included, it must be obvious that both parties would have agreed to it. The second test is the Business efficacy test (mention Moorcock) this asks whether the term is necessary to give the contract business efficacy for instance would the contract make business sense without it. The courts will only imply a term where is necessary to do so (contract law by Neil Andrews 2015 pg 333 13.01 (4) ) but yet it is argued that (try to mention a case) the officious by stander test trumps the test in the Moorcock (1889): if a putative term which is supported by the business efficacy does not also satisfy the officious bystander test the courts will refuse to recognise it as term to be implied in fact (paraphrase this text:) (Contract law by Neil Andrews 2015 pg 342 13.10) Furthermore there would be circumstances in which courts will realise that the officious bystander rule cannot apply. • 4. The Personal Effects Of Plastic Surgery The Personal Effects of Plastic Surgery Plastic surgery dates back to somewhere around 2000 B.C. and has only advanced since that time. Today people all over the world get these procedures done for many reasons. Some reasoning behind individuals getting plastic surgery is to fix a birth defect, deformability, or for cosmetic purposes. In today s society, getting plastic surgery for cosmetics purposes is very popular but with that comes many negative comments or thoughts towards that person getting these surgeries. Cosmetic surgery impact not just the person receiving it but everyone that sees those new features or changes. In the world we now live in I think body image is a big factor in many people s lives. A lot of people do not always feel comfortable in their own skin because of the different models and actresses or actors seen on television. I think when we see those different people on television or on the internet, we think that s how we should be able to look, this can make people have negative thoughts about their own body. In all reality, most of those people we see on television, magazines and social networks; almost all of those people have had some sort of plastic surgery to change their appearance. While these people change themselves they can send thousands of dollars on just one procedure. When someone has had over ten procedure done to themselves that dollar amount really starts to add up and that s just of the negative effects of getting plastic surgery. ... • 5. Analysis of the European Union’s Role as a Model... Intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) are defined by Kegley (2009) as institutions created and joined by states governments, which give them authority to make collective decisions to manage particular problems on the global agenda (p. 163). The purpose of IGOs is to solve shared problems on the basis of involving states interests. In other words, states utilize community of interest to balance the international situation between neighborhoods. According to Kegley (2009), a global trend in world politics is the spectacular growth of IGOs. The European Union, as an example of IGOs, is the globe s best success story among the other regional IGOs playing global roles (Kegley, 2009). In addition, the primal six group members, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and Netherlands, were striving for their financial development. The readers for this month seemed to have extensive knowledge of poetry, which was nice because the poetry readings I have seen in the past have not had this amount of star power. Overall I enjoyed my experience at Viento y Agua and appreciated the complex poetry. My journey begun as I starred into my mirror wondering if I should wear a sweater or a jacket. I came to the conclusion that the jacket would be a better choice, due to the fact I can tie it around my neck like a gay flight attendant if needed. • 8. Tay Sachs Disease Essay Tay Sachs is an incurable genetic disease that affects the central nervous system. It is a rare disorder that occurs chiefly in infants and children, especially those of the Jewish heritage. It is characterized by a red spot in the retina, paralysis, gradual blindness, and loss of muscle movement. Tay Sachs can only be inherited, which means it is passed from parents to child only. The process begins in the fetus, very early in pregnancy. However, the disease does not become physically apparent until the child is several months old. Tay Sachs is caused by the absence of a vital enzyme, called the Hex A gene, which is in chromosome 15. This gene plays an important role in the nervous system. It breaks down the fatty substance called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parents who suspect they might be at risk are strongly encouraged to be tested before pregnancy. Pregnant mothers can have their unborn babies tested for Hex A deficit that causes Tay Sachs. If these tests do not detect the Hex A gene, the baby has the Tay Sachs mutation. If the tests do detect the Hex A gene, then the baby is perfectly healthy. Between the 10th and 12th weeks of pregnancy, an expectant mother can get a chorionic villus sampling or CVS. In this procedure, a small sample of the placenta is drawn into a needle or small tube for analysis. Between 15 18 weeks of a pregnancy, an expecting mother could have an amniocentesis to test for the Hex A mutation. This test involves a needle that is inserted into the mother s belly to draw a sample of amniotic fluid that surrounds the fetus. Children are usually tested for Tay Sachs after having hearing, sight, and movement problems. The disease can be identified by a doctor through blood tests and screening. Children affected by Tay Sachs disease are born seemingly normal and develop like any other child in the first three to six months of life. Throughout the next month, and sometimes even years, the baby will progressively lose the ability to see, hear, and move. The child will develop a cherry colored red spot in the back of the eye and they lose or never even gain important motor and mental skills. The child will stop smiling, crawling, sitting, turning over, and reaching for things. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Sports Facilities East Lothian Council Website I used the John Gray website to find out the background knowledge of sports in East Lothian and to find famous sporting people who were born and raised in East Lothian. This centre has access to archives and is ran by professional historians which means that this website is reliable and that the information is accurate. I also used National records of Scotland to find out what the population was in East Lothian and other important details like income and employment. This is a reliable source as it is from a government website which is highly regarded and if the information was inaccurate it was tarnish the governments image. This was updated in September 2016 meaning that the information on this website is very up to date. I then used The East Lothian Council website to find out what sports facilities East Lothian had and if they were modern. I also used it to find out if these facilities had undergone any refurbishments or improvements in recent years. This is a reliable source the council knows what is going on in the area and can give an accurate description of their facilities as they run them. I used Enjoyleisure to find out how modern and up to date the sports facilities are in East Lothian and to get a better understanding of what the supply of sports is like in this county. This is a reliable source as Enjoyleisure works on behalf of the council and therefore the information given to the public must be accurate. This website is update regularly meaning that the ... • 11. Humor in The Simpsons Essay Humor in The Simpsons I and many other millions of people across the world believe that The Simpson s is the best programme on television because it is funny in more ways then one. The Simpson s uses the family lifestyle that many American TV shows have used over past (e.g. The Adam s family, The Flintstones) but The Simpson s has proved it is a lot more popular because it uses many more different forms of comedy which work with people from all ages. Slapstick comedy is where someone gets hurt and you laugh but if you saw it happen in real life you d find it sick for example when homer the father strangles his son Bart in many episodes it would be seen as child abuse in real life but you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Where Bart, Lisa and their classmates get stranded on an island and they go through the same things as they did in the book or film. Another great example is where Bart writes I can t see dead people on the board in the opening credits which is a parody of The sixth sense which is a supernatural film about ghosts and there is a memorable quote where the young boy says I see dead people . Another example of Intertextuality is where they use the idea of the matrix, which is a sci fi film where the actors dodge bullets and move in slow motion. And in the Simpson s Bart starts running up walls and dodging bullets and moving in slow motion and is quite enjoyable to watch because its good seeing the Simpson s doing it. Intertextuality is a sophisticated type of comedy because the older viewers are more likely to grasp examples of these then younger viewers. Running gags are things you will probably see in every episode and are funny every time you see them. Running gags are jokes that are same jokes and actions that reappear every now and again. For example Homer always strangles his son Bart whenever he s rude or annoys Homer usually by outsmarting him. Another running gag which I find funny is whenever the Simpson s are watching a documentary or a film the same actor Troy McClure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Danger in Susan Glaspell s Trifles Essay The Danger in Susan Glaspell s Trifles Susan Glaspell s Trifles is a play about a real life murder case that uses symbolism to help bring it to a close. It is easy to see that Mr. and Mrs. Wright live in a society that is cut off from the outside world and also strongly separated by gender. Three of the key symbols in Glaspell s play are a simple bird cage, a quilt, and isolationism. Anna Uong of Virginia Tech and Karen Shelton of JSRCC share these same ideas on symbolism. These three symbols are the main clues that help the reader decide who killed Mr. Wright. The bird cage that was found is one of the most profound symbols in the story. Mrs. Hale describes Minnie as, kind of like a bird herself, real sweet and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is said to be ?All over the place as if she didn?t know what she was about,? states Mrs. Hale?(840). This is another clue into how enraged and flustered Minnie was. Minnie?s last straw was when John killed her bird. When the bird died, so did Minnie?s personality. After that murder, Minnie was enraged, confused, and didn?t know what to do. Mrs. Hale wondered ?if she was goin? to quilt it or knot it?(840). By quilting the blanket, she would have chosen to endure the pain that John was putting her through, but by knotting the quilt she chose to eliminate it. Just as a knot represents a finishing or a completion of a project, it also was an end to John. The weaving of the quilt also symbolises the building up of the marriage and then the end of it. ?The quilt started out as a beautiful piece of art and was brought to a close by a couple of sloppy stitches and knots?(Uong). Just like the Wright?s marriage, the quilt was beautiful until the end where everything was simply a mess. Isolationism also plays a very important role in the story. The Wright?s farmhouse is located in a hallow, in the woods. This sets her in a secluded place away from most civilisation. The Wright?s didn?t even have a phone in their house to be able to call anyone. Mr. Hale came to talk to Mr. Wright about a phone a few times but, ?he put me off, saying folks talked too much ... Many teens around the world are experiencing sexual activity at a more alarming age than ever before (Anderson et al., 2011). Although many opportunities exist for expansion, the strongest plan for the company to embark on is an aggressive expansion of its business in the United States. Basis for Recommendation 1. The Spanish beer market is contracting, and trying to win a larger piece of a smaller pie will prove very costly (Appendix 2). As the Spanish recession continues, revenue will decline as less beer is consumed and margins will shrink as consumers buy beer in supermarkets, significantly constraining Damm s profits (Appendix 3). 2. Damm has already entered the U.S. market via a 17% acquisition of U.S. Beverage, a specialty distributor that works mainly with premium imports (Peet). U.S. Beverage has had a successful track record with imports in the past, and this partnership will allow Grupo Damm to circumvent the process of having to find a reliable importer and distributor. 3. The U.S. beer market has been growing, and more specifically, the imported premium beer segment has been growing within the overall market (Appendix 4). Although other markets have been shown to be growing at a higher rate (Group 6, Slide 5), the U.S. market is several times larger at over 208 million barrels sold per year (Jones). Financial Impact of the Recommendation Under a conservative analysis of the project, an expansion plan in America will have a net present value of over $350 million for Grupo Damm (Appendix 5). This project requires minimal capital expenditures because U.S. Beverage has already put much of the groundwork in place. The main expenses Grupo Damm will face under ... The perspectives presented by political philosophers John Rawls and Robert Nozick demonstrate two extremely different views of societal justice and the roles that the state should have in society. To express these views, Rawls and Nozick each form their own principles of justice, or sets of rules to guide societal justice. In this paper, I will analyze the views of each of these thinkers. I will also argue that Rawls principles of justice are preferable to Nozick s due to Nozick s lack of focus on societal inequalities. One such study, which appeared in the Science Magazine, gives evidence that growing up in poverty causes heightened levels of stress, which can lead to people developing risk averse and less goal directed behavior. These psychological changes can cause poverty to continue over generations. This is problematic because the family a person is born into is not reflective of desert or merit. If economics were operated completely freely, those born into disadvantaged families would have a decreased chance of reaching financial stability purely due to natural chance. • 18. The Plague Of Bubonic Plague Essays 3. The bubonic plague was a devastating disease that rapidly swept across Europe. Also known as the Black Death, the plague spread from port to port and started to wipe out entire civilizations. All of Europe was eventually contaminated, with over two thirds of the population dieing to the infectious disease. Believed to have started in 1346 when the Mongol armies overtook the Genoese trading outpost of Caffa on the Black Sea, over half the soldiers on the boat returned dead. The quickness of the infection and then death, brought a fear to these people they have never witnessed before. The sudden death caused by the disease created a paranoria among the people that Armageden had arrived. One of the reasons the bubonic plague spread so quickly, is due to the trade posts that connected throughout all of Europe. These posts created pathways for the germs and provided travel. The deadly microbes traveled by the land trails and sea lanes created by the Europeans. The old silk road even became a breeding ground for the germs. It did not matter which community, class or culture one is apart of; it infected all. The more populated a city was, the more devastation that ensued. For example, the city of London was reduced from one hundred thousand people to just around thirty seven thousand people. This is a massive loss which led to food shortages, work stoppages and unrest among the survivors. The massive rate of death caused by the Black Death led people to search ... • 22. Causes Of Deforestation In Madagascar Deforestation on the island of Madagascar, an island off of the coast of Africa, has caused major destruction of habitat for species and a reduction in numbers of plants and trees. The island used to be largely covered in dense forests which were home to many species of lemur and other animals. Now, ⅘ of the island is bare and uninhabitable for these animals. Deforestation on the island progresses at around 150,000 to 200,000 hectares of forests cut down each year. Because of this many plants and animals that only occur in the wild on Madagascar are endangered. The problem has effects on both abiotic factors as well as the biotic factors, which include animals and plants. Some of the abiotic things impacted include lakes and shorelines. One of the main causes for the deforestation is slash and burn agriculture. In this technique, small areas of forest are cut down and everything is burned to clear the area and introduce some nutrients into the ground. Then, rice is planted and grown for a few years. After some time, all of the nutrients are depleted from the ground and rice cannot grow well anymore. Because of this, farmers have to continuously cut down more and more forest. The reason that this is such a common thing on Madagascar is because most people are poor and need food, so they resort to this destructive technique that leaves land barren and unable to support growth. The impacts on biotic factors are obvious. One third of the island s 1,600 unique species of plants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The only reason I even heard of this was because of my mother s boyfriend, he is a Navy veteran and he asked me if I could help them out one night, and so I did. The way I helped them was I would go in the kitchen and basically do everything, I would take their orders, cook them their food, put their food on the tray, and then I had to deliver the food to them because they had trouble walking. The fact that a tragic hero is not perfect evokes both pity and fear. Oedipus although being a good father, husband, and son, he unwillingly destroys his parents, wife and children. This study was designed using rabbits as animal model to assess impact of Moringa oliefera on female fertility by determining the status of major reproductive hormones of hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis. Serum LH, FSH progesterone, oestradiol and prolactin are the basic essential reproductive endocrinal biochemical biomarkers for the investigation of fertility and the functionality of reproductive axis (hypothalamic/pituitary/gonadal axis) (Harris and Naftolinf., 1970) in female animals. The concentration of FSH influences the number of follicles that are (Ca´rdenas and Pope 2013). The results of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is in line with Joshi and Joshi (1992) who reported that anti fertility herbs especially those used as contraceptives interferes with pituitary gonadotropin secretions which affects the functionality of ovary by direct inhabiting ovulation and interference with fertilization, implantation and gestation or pregnancy. However, the mechanism of action is still not very clear. The phyto compounds in the test plant responsible for the observed dose related reduction of key reproductive hormones (FSH, LH and oestradial) may be related to flavonoids, glucosinolates, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins and cinnamates which was reported to as effective agent in plants use for abortion ((Tarafder , 1982; Nath et al., 1992; 1997; Amaglo et al. 2010; Coppin et al. 2013; Torres Castillo et al., 2013). These compounds may be acting alone or in synergism to each other to influence negatively reproductive axis to precipitate reduction in FSH, LH and oestrogen concentration observed in this study. Farooq et al. (2012) reported that Moringa oliefera have anti fertility activity. Also, Prakash, et al., (1987) in their study with aqueous extract of the root and bark of Moringar olieferas observed post coital anti fertility effect in rat and also induced fetal resorption at late pregnancy. In another study analysing anti reproductive potential of folk medicinal plants, Moringa oliefera leaf extracts were found to be 100% abortive with doses equivalent to 175 mg/kg of ...
