Object Oriented Database
Introduction
Choosing the right OODB architecture can mean orders of magnitude difference in performance
and scalability characteristics rather than a few percentage points as found in relational
implementations.
To achieve maximum performance and scalability the most important thing is choosing the right
application architecture. OODBs give applications much more direct access to the persistent data,
so application architecture has much more impact on performance than is the case with an RDB.
Or to put it another way, when using an
OODB the application architect has much more power to optimize performance than when using an
RDB. Consequently the application architecture has more effect on performance and scalability
than the choice of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, a database system contains the five following features:
Persistence
As in a conventional database, data must remain after the process that created it has terminated. For
this purpose data has to be stored permanently on secondary storage.
Secondary Storage Management
Traditional databases employ techniques, which manage secondary storage in order to improve the
performance of the system. These are usually invisible to the user of the system.
Concurrency
The system should provide a concurrency mechanism, which is similar to the concurrency
mechanisms in conventional databases.
Recovery
The system should provide a recovery mechanism similar to recovery mechanisms in conventional
databases.
Ad hoc query facility
The database should provide a high level, efficient, application independent query facility. This
needs not necessarily be a query language but could instead, be some type of graphical interface.
The above criteria are perhaps the most complete attempt so far to define the features of an
object oriented database in 1989. Further attempts to define an OODBS standard were made
variables of researchers. One of them is a group called Object Data Management Group (ODMG).
They have worked on an OODBS standard for the industry. The recent release is ODMG 2 in1997.

Rene Descartes And Princess Elisabeth Of Bohemia
Rene Descartes and Princess Elisabeth of Bohemia Women Philosophers of the Early Modern
Period is a book authored by Margaret Atherton. The book is an important selection from the
largely unknown writings of women philosophers of the early modern period. Among the most
notable ones is a writing that involves Descartes and Elisabeth. Using this book, the paper seeks
to answer various questions. It will discuss what Elisabeth is asking Descartes to clarify, and
what his response is. Besides, the paper will evaluate Descartes answer to see if it was adequate.
To begin with, we discuss what Elisabeth was asking Descartes to clarify. Descartes starts

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Kayak Fishing
Kayak fishing has rapidly evolved into a mainstream style of fishing in the past 10 years. The
largest difference between fishing kayaks and other kayaks is usually in the way they re rigged
with a complex array of fishing accessories attached into a comparatively small area. The ease with
which these accessories might be added to a routine kayakshortly resulted in the development of a
different line of kayak models designed specifically for the angler. Yet with all of these popular
advancements, there s now another fashion of kayak that s becoming increasingly more popular
among avid kayak fishermen.
The inflatable kayak was often considered as a toy compared to other kayaks, but the inflatable
kayaks of today are not anything like their early counterparts. Previous inflatable versions were
flimsy and sometimes as light as an average pool raft. The modern inflatable kayaks have turned
out to be exceptionally safe and are accessible from quality makers. They re known to be quite
durable and puncture proof. So while there are pros and cons with inflatables, as there are with
any other style of kayak, the disadvantages appear to be an acceptable trade off in return for the
edges that are available in no other type of fishing kayak. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Inflatable kayaks are somewhat harder to maneuver and paddle, and in general lack the speed of a
rigid kayak. If purchasing a kayak for touring, but in kayak fishing, rate isn t actually that big of a
deal this may make a huge difference. Kayak anglers spend the majority of their time drifting
while retrieving and casting, rather than paddling along at full speed or maybe sitting in a single
spot. Another consideration is the fact that it may be more difficult to add the numerous
accessories most people enjoy, which is widely referred to as rigging . On rigid kayaks, it is
relatively simple to drill a mounting hole into the deck of the kayak and add almost anything a

Research Paper On The Rihanna-Chris Brown Dating Abuse
Modern media is very powerful in influencing today s world. They use this power to influence
people s opinions and convince them to believe anything that they write or said. With the many
different media platforms there are in today s society, we have decided to look a bit deeper into
the news media platform of tabloids and magazines. Specifically how media frames dating abuse
when it first becomes publicized. We decided to focus our Final Research Paper on the Rihanna
Chris Brown dating abuse incident in 2009. The Rihanna Chris Brown scandal all started when
the couple were traveling by car and an argument broke out. This argument lead to a physical fight
when Chris Brown physically let his anger out on Rihanna by hitting her. Almost every magazines
and talk show started writing and talking about it. This scandal became a very hot topic of
conversation, and almost everyone had something to say about it. We found that in a lot of these
comments and discussions we heard to be focused on victim blaming, Rihanna s abuse being
objectified, sexualized and romanticized. These are unacceptable comments for many tabloids and
magazines to be putting into their publications. Not only does this normalize the abuse towards
Rihanna but many times it distracts from the real hard facts about this case. Rihanna was abused
and that fault is falling onto her from what we are seeing in the tabloids and magazines. We have
found specific articles and headlines that prove there was significant,

The SARA Model Of Gangs
Gangs, what are they? Who are they? And why are they a problem? What do we think of when
we hear the word gang, overall it s a word that comes with a lot of negative baggage, violence and
not a very good thing. The word gang can have a lot of different meanings of people coming
together for something. However, today in our societies the word gangs is defined as an organized
group of criminals. A gangis a group of persons with close social relations that work together in
unlawful ways for their profit and or benefit. One time or another we have all heard of gangs and
know a little about the violence and criminal behaviors that they are involved in from social media
and the news. In an article the FBI says that gangs are morphing, multiplying, migrating and
entrenching themselves in our inner cities, suburbs and rural communities. They are selling drugs
to our kids, shooting up our neighborhoods, invading our homes, robbing our banks and stores,
stealing our identities, our money, and instilling fear and violence everywhere they go(The
Gang...,2009).
Using the SARA model in trying to understand the problem with gangs, I turn to the first steps in
this model, scanning and analysing, identifying what s the problem. In a study done in 1981 in
California they found that gangs became one of the biggest crime problem because of assaults, drive
by shootings, homicides, and brutal home invasion robberies that caused a serious threat to public
safety(Friedrichs, 1999). The department

The Giver s Impact On Dystopian Literature

but a large portion people do not know of it s impact on dystopian literature. The Giver was

Dystopian novels. The Giver achieved this with it s appeal and popularity. Evidence proving these

The novel s popularity sprouts from it s ability to appeal to all ages and it s use in schools make
the genre of Dystopian societies more well known. Since the novel can appeal to all ages, the
popularity of The Giver helps impact Dystopian literature: The Giver is still making a difference
for young readers and continues to have a profound impact on these readers into adulthood
(Krueger). When adults and adolescents both increase the popularity, the rise in genre continues
and also continues to influence other Dystopian novels. Another way The Giver increased it s
popularity was with schools. Since The Giver was used as learning material, the popularity in
Dystopian novels is rising: Based on our analysis and experience as teachers in secondary
schools, these themes have a certain appeal to teenagers and offer a wealth of material for
classroom study (Scholes and Ostenson). As teenagers are exposed to The Giver, they will

Week 4 B IP Subnetting Lab Essay
Introduction
Assignment
Develop a subnetting plan and implement it in the lab. Configure RIP as a routing protocol.
Conditions
NYEDGE1 is the hub router. The two remote office routers NYEDGE2 and NYWAN1 connect to
NYEDGE1 through serial connections. Each router has a locally attached Ethernet network.
The serial line data rates and DTE/DCE settings have already been configured on all three routers.
You only need to assign the IP addressto the interfaces.
Notes
The routers are connected directly to each other in this lab and do not actually connect through any
leased line services.

You are not encouraged to use this subnetwork because it specifies the wire address.
Nor should you use the last subnet, 192.50.6.224, because it is considered the major network
broadcast address. Therefore you can only use subnets 32, 64, 96, 128, 160 and 192. With this
design requirement, you only need to use five of the six usable subnetworks, leaving one for any
additional segments in the future. Likewise, for each subnet, you cannot use the first and last
address. For example, subnet 192.50.1.32 extends all the way to 192.50.1.63. But you cannot use
these two IP addresses (.32 and .63) because they are the wire and the broadcast addresses for this
subnetwork. But you can use any of the 30 IP addresses in between.

Overall, 1 in 4 respondents outsources less than 20% of their logistics operations to 3PLs. Is this is
a sign that shippers are hesitant to allow too much ownership of their supply chain to outside
companies, or that they prefer to bring the expertise into their own logistics division? Concerns over
integrating the two businesses into a successful working relationship and ensuring mutually viable
contract terms could also be factors in the decision against outsourcing a large percentage of key
business operations.

The Myths And Rituals At Mycenaean And Minoan Sites
Sir Arthur Evans in the twentieth century, helped to explain many existing questions about Homer
s epics and provided archaeological evidence for many of the mythological details about gods and
heroes. Unfortunately, the evidence about myths and rituals at Mycenaean and Minoan sites is
entirely monumental, as the Linear B script was used mainly to record inventories, although certain
names of gods and heroes have been tentatively identified. Secondly, visual sources sometimes
represent myths or mythical scenes that are not attested in any extant literary source. In some cases,
the first known representation of a myth in geometric art predates its first known representation in
late archaic poetry, by several centuries. The earlier inhabitants of the Balkan Peninsula were an
agricultural people who, using Animism, assigned a spirit to every aspect of nature. Eventually,
these vague spirits assumed human forms and entered the local mythology as gods. When tribes
from the north of the Balkan Peninsula invaded, they brought with them a new pantheon of gods,
based on conquest, force, prowess in battle, and violent heroism. Other older gods of the
agricultural world fused with those of the more powerful invaders or else faded into insignificance.
After the middle of the Archaic period, myths about relationships between male gods and male
heroes became more and more frequent, indicating the parallel development of pedagogic pederasty,
thought to have been introduced around 630 BC.

The Rights Of Ruth Simpson And Gay Rights
Ruth Simpson (1926 2008) Run through plagiarism check Politics isn t just about who gets to
conquer countries, fight wars or make laws in government. It s also about the slow grind and
struggle of those who work behind the scenes to make things happen. Nobody exemplifies this
more than Ruth Simpson, a gay rights activist who toiled for decades to raise awareness of
LGBTQ rights in the US. In 1976, when Ruth wrote her pioneering book on lesbian identity,
From the Closet to the Courts, gay men and women could be fired from their jobs, targeted by
police, or harassed on the street with full impunity. The majority of US states even legally barred
gay people from certain jobs, including those in teaching, policing, law and medicine even
dentistry. If anything is testament to the work that LGBTQ activists like Ruth have done, it is that
such measures seem ludicrous and unthinkable today. But the world that Ruth operated in was a
vastly different one. Born to two committed socialists deeply involved in the labor movement,
Ruth was exposed to activism at an early age. By the time she was 12, her parents were taking her
to picket lines, where she witnessed her father beaten up by a cop right in front of her. The result,
however, was that Ruth disavowed politics she had seen the heartbreak and anxiety that her parents
activism had brought about. Instead, she studied drama and English at university and moved to

Analyzing Hector s Response To Andromache
Your wife is always right is a hyperbolic expression quoted by the actor Hugh Jackman. While
certainly not always the case, Hector could benefit greatly from considering this piece of advice.
Andromache offers Hector a piece of strategic advice for the war, which he brushes off and
response very harshly to. Hector s response offers a glimpse of a side of Hector that is not
previously seen in the book before. Hector s answer to Andromache is a grim and dismal outlook
of what Hector sees for the future. The advice she offers to Hector is to take the army and fight
behind the walls of Troy. Her logic is: three times the Greeks have attacked under the walls, and
three times they have failed. Fighting an open battle has proven to be disadvantageous to the
Trojans and she believes the best her strategy is the best... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Realizing Hector s opposition lies not in the semantics of the plan, but in the principles he
stands for, I would change my argument to challenge those very conventions. Since Hector
never once mentions the importance the survival of his wife and son, I would question his
loyalty to his family and his role as a father. The text shows Hector cares for his wife and
especially his son Astyanax. I would verbally confront him on the idea that it is clear he places
his own glory over his family. The nobility of condemning his wife and infant child to a life of
slavery is certainly less noble than doing whatever it takes to protect them. In fact, Hector is
jeopardizing the lives not only of his family, but of his people as well. I would ask him what
kind of leader ignores the survival of his people in pursuit of his own glory. By confronting
Hector s principles and idea of nobility, I have addressed the root of his opposition to my plan.
Even if he does not accept the argument, his basic way of life is challenged and he must question
the rationale of his

Pontecorvo was a Catholic film maker from Italy while Fanon hailed from Martinique and practiced

how both types of people, the colonizer and the colonized are capable of great evil, but both can be

share the same human brokenness, then maybe they can try to understand each other or work

What Are The Five Elements Of Housebreaking
1.4 Elements of housebreaking
In South African law, housebreaking consists of five elements. These elements are a crucial part of
the crime, the reason is simple: all of the elements must be present in order for a perpetrator to be
guilty of housebreaking with the intent to commit a crime.
1.4.1 Breaking
Breaking refers to a perpetrator that displaces some obstruction, which forms part of the premises,
in order to create an entry onto that premises. Breaking can take effect when a lock, window or
door is forced open or broken. A displacement of a fragment of a structureor building can occur,
which indicates an interior break of the premises (example: a safe inside a home).
Physical damage is no longer an aspect of breaking, because if the perpetrator opens a door or

The Postcolonial insights of Spivak s Can the Subaltern Speak?

2016 2017
Abstract In literature, post colonialism is the study of post colonial theories that ask the reader to
notice the effects of colonization on people or the extension power into other nations. In post
colonial theories, the term subaltern is the nickname to populations which are far cry from the
power of the colony that has hegemonic on social, political and geographical prevalence. The
present research aims at analyzing Spivak s essay Can the Subaltern Speak? in the light of her

If, in the context of colonial production, the subaltern has no history and cannot speak, the subaltern
as female is even more deeply in shadow (287).
Conclusion
Spivak‟s essay Can the Subaltern Speak? became a real voice of some women. Spivak
differentiates between speak and talk and show how women of the third world may talk but
speaking is more active in which two people try to communicate things face to face.
Since its publication Can the Subaltern Speak a lot of citation, imitation, and critics has been
related to it. This essay is like phenomena that contextualized within postcolonial studies and the
quest for human rights. Many describe Spivak s essay as the most argumentative postcolonial critic.
Rosalinda C. Horris, a professor of anthropology, describes Spivak in an afterword that Can the
Subaltern Speak? for her is considered past interpretation, future incarnations, questions and
histories that remain secreted in the original

While the women in the church have an organized discipleship effort happening, there is not a
concerted effort to grow men into faithful followers of Jesus Christ. The men of the church need a
program where discipleship happens intentionally. The scripture that First Baptist Church uses for
it s vision is Matthew 5:13. The City on a Hill theme comes for this verse. The idea is that we
should be salt and light to the world so that others will know Him through us. People are not
committed followers of Christ just because they study the Bible. That is only part of the process.
The Great Commission tells us to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey (Matthew
28:16). The Great Commandment tells us to love God and others. (Matthew 22). The New
Commandment in John tells us to love one another (John 13:34 35). The church needs to be able to
forge relationship so that they in turn can reproduce more Christians. The commitment level in the
Sunday School ministries is strong at First Baptist. About 60 percent of the Sunday morning
worship is also in Sunday School. Sunday School tends to be strictly educational in nature. The
groups do take care of each other in most cases. However, mentoring and further discipleship is not
happening. The participation in other discipleship programs is much smaller. As stated earlier, the
groups that are meeting outside of Sunday School are

Ferguson police arrested around 150 protesters in Missouri after violence erupted amid peaceful
demonstrations on Tuesday. On Monday, Ferguson was placed under a state of emergency as
protesters marched on the streets to commemorate the first death anniversary of Michael Brown.
The demonstrators are protesting the fatal shooting of unarmed black men by white police
officers, according to The Globe and Mail. The state of emergency, which was declared by St.
Louis County Executive Steve Stenger, gave county Police Chief Jon Belmar authority over police
activities in the Ferguson area, The Denver Post reports. Police arrested 57 individuals for breaking
through the barricades put up in front of a St. Louis federal court. On Tuesday night, 22 protesters...

Benefits Of A Job For A Resident s Life Span And...
Robert Burney (2015) explains that CCRCs all offer multiple levels of care, but not all contracts
cap long term costs regardless of the level of care. Type A contract facilities are able to cap these
costs, which make them more favorable. However, in order to accomplish this control of
futuristic costs, institutions must require a significant entrance fee for residents. Essentially,
residents buy in to their retirement community and are then contracted at a fixed rate for all
futuristic expenses, regardless of the resident s life span and potential care needs. As one would
expect, the initial buy in is very costly and could range from $50,000 to over $1,000,000
(Burney, 2015). Depending on the needs a resident may require in the future he or she may be
arranging a deal of great value or one that will prove to be exceptionally expensive. Nevertheless,
Type A contracts are made to reflect estimates of average healthcare costs seen in many elderly
persons as they transition through multiple levels of care (Burney, 2015). Because of these
analyzed costs, a facility s financial planner can easily establish residential rates to cover basic
living needs, possible increased healthcare requirements, and the sustainment of the business. Many
vigorous steps of financial planning should be done from all parties involved in any long term
agreement in order to consider the time value of moneyin regards to futuristic costs and benefits.

basic assumption about motivation and leading is discipline. He stated that the most important

Emily Dickinson s The Brain Is Wide Then The Sky
The poem The Brain is Wider Then The Sky by Emily Dickinson, written in 1862. Emily
Dickinson was a woman who never married. She lived with her parents in Amherst
Massachusetts. Emily believed in feminist. She came from a very church going family but as
she got older she stopped going to church. She was a very smart woman. She attended college at
Amherst Academy. Her father was the founder of Amherst Academy, which today is called
Amherst College. Amherst college is still a well know college in Massachusetts. Emily
Dickinson started a book club involving multiple friends, as well as her loving attentiveness to
individuals in times of both suffering and joy. These inquiries highlight her thoughts on love,
marriage, gender roles, art, and death, while unraveling mysteries ranging from legal discourse to
Etruscan smiles. In addition to a foreword by Marietta Messmer, the volume includes essays by
Paul Crumbley, Karen Dandurand, Jane Donahue Eberwein, Judith Farr, James Guthrie, Ellen
Louise Hart, Eleanor Heginbotham, Cindy MacKenzie, Martha Nell Smith, and Stephanie
Tingley. One of Emilys favorite books was the bible. She referred back to the bible in a lot of her
work. The poem The Brainis Wider Then The Sky can be interpreted in many different ways. If
you have knowledge of Emily Dickinson back round you may interpret it differently then others
who do not know much about her life and upbringing. This poem is a four line stanza, most of
her work was. She would write in many different styles .She wanted to be different and unique.
Emily wanted her work to standout. She never wrote your typical poems. There was not structure
in her writing. While reading the poem you cannot get a lot from it about Dickinson but you can
understand her philosophy about the human body. The beginning stanza The Brain is wider then
the sky, for, put them side to side . She is saying that the two are the same in many ways. The sky
is endless and always growing, as is a brain. We know that Emily Dickinson was very educational.
She went to Amherst Academy schools and was a very out standing student. At the time when she

The definitions explain that culture as human made and that it is learned, it highlights subjective
elements such as values, beliefs and behaviors. However, culture is a term that is difficult to define
and it is difficult to identify all the factors that it encompasses (Davey, 2011). Culture includes
gender, sexual orientation, race, socioeconomic status, and cultural background (Peters Williams,
2009). Other terms such as mainstream, minority, ethnicity religion and race are used to describe
how a group of people, a community or a nation lives in their social and physical environment
(Schinke Hanrahan, 2009).
2.2 American Culture and Technology
From a historic viewpoint, the American culture has dominated global culture based on its
technological leadership of Web based and consumer technology (Ashby, 2006). While these
innovations are adopted outside the United States, in America it becomes less and more global.
Cortada (2009) explains that American Web sites, applications and high tech gadgets are dispersed
worldwide, which results that it becomes less US centric, even though they remain influenced by
American culture. By using Facebook in this thesis, one sees that this technology is clearly a part
of American culture, but worldwide adoption causes them to become less American. Nye (1997)

Changing Voting Restrictions
Have you ever felt like the government is trying to take away your voice? Well if you allow them
to take away your right to vote with new restrictions on who can or can not vote then that is what
they are basically doing. It would be taking away the already small voice you have in your
governmental system. If they were to change the requirements then it would cause mass confusion
of electionday, it would be erasing what some people fought for to earn the right to vote, and the
votingrate is low enough.
One of the main reasons why we should not change the voting restrictions it that it would cause
mass confusion when it came to election day. Election day is already heptic enough when it
comes time for the american people to vote for their next commander in chief. It would just add
on to the craiz and confusion if people went to go vote and was not allowed to because of a new
type of restriction out that they did not know of. For example, during the 2016 election between
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump there were 14 different states that had new voting laws. One of

Examples Of St. Petersburg Paradox
2.2.6 The Bernoulli Hypothesis
Daniel Bernoulli, the 18th century Swiss mathematician evinced great interest in the problem
known as St. Petersburg paradox and tried to resolve this. Bernoulli establish that Russians were
reluctant to make bets even at better than 50 50 odds knowing wholly that their mathematical
expectations of winning money in a particular kind of gamble were greater the more money they
bet. This contradiction is known as St. Petersburg Paradox. St. Petersburg paradox denotes to the
problem why most people are unenthusiastic to take part in a fair bet or game.
For example, offer of participating in a gamble in which a person has even chance (that is, 50 50
odds) of winning or losing ВЈ1000 is a fair game. To explain it, Bernoulli ... Show more content on

Since the individual behaves on the basis of expected utility from the extra money if he wins a
game and the marginal utility of money to him declines as he has extra money, most individuals
will not play the game , that is, will not make a bet. It is in this way that Bernoulli resolved St.
Petersburg paradox .
A graphic illustration will make clear Bernoulli s solution to the paradox. Consider Figure 17.1 in
which on the X axis, the quantity of money (thousands of rupees) and on the Y axis, marginal
utility of money (rupees) to an individual are measured. Suppose an individual has 20 thousands of
rupees with him and can make a bet at even odd (i.e., 50 50 chance) of winning or losing rupees
one thousand.
If he wins the bet, money with him will rise to 21 thousand (20 + 1) rupees. If as a result of an
increase in money with him, his expected marginal utility of money declines, then the expected
marginal utility of extra one thousand rupees to him which is depicted by the rectangle CDFE is

curious that in their catalogue, REI offers products, (clothing) designed and manufactured under

For example, during the procedure, people use shape instruments such as blades, and needles.
Addition, they do not use any type of anti pain to reduce pain. As a result of this, the women can
develop severe pain, bleeding, scarring, and emotional childhood injuries. In the longer term,
women may suffer feelings of anxiety and depression. (3). It can also cause behavioral disorder in
early childhood, such as lack of trust, loss of confides, fear and anxiety later in their adult lives.
The last effect of FGM is its manhandling impact on women s reproductive organs later in life. This

Portia, The Merchant Of Venice
Portia, The Merchant of Venice
Do you agree that Portia is a memorable character in the play The Merchant of Venice?
In the play The Merchant of Venice, there are many female characters who face injustice alone in
society. Portia as many seemingly paradoxical identities. This makes her a memorable character in
the play The Merchant of Venice. She has represented being dutiful towards her father, being an
innocent young woman, a mortal breathing saint who posses god like amity , a hard headed and
calculating lawyer who is fully conversant with the tricks of the legal trade, and is advocate of
mercy who ruthlessly destroys Shylock.
Portia is not a memorable character because amongst her god like amity and her mortal breathing
saint personality, she also portrays a deceitful character through her complex personality. Portia s
personality is superficial. Her evaluation of her suitors is both articulate and scathing; Portia
deconstructs each man with a kind of clinical precision, seeming to take particular pleasure in
questioning their masculinity. God made him, and therefore let him pass as a man; (1.2.50). This
quote reveals Portia s conception of masculinity seems to have little to do with mere anatomy. The
French Lord, she says, though he posses the outward signs of masculinity, plays a man s part
poorly that only God s intent allows him to be considered one. She apparently believes herself to
have superior judgement of what make a truly masculine man. Though her

areas of national significance for youth with disabilities and their families, which include: providing
students with disabilities with improved access and success in the secondary educationcurriculum,
ensuring that students achieve positive post school results in accessing postsecondary education,
meaningful employment, independent living and participation in all aspects of community life,

Object Oriented Database Introduction Choosingthe right OODB architecture can mean orders of magnitude difference in performance and scalability characteristics rather than a few percentage points as found in relational implementations. To achieve maximum performance and scalability the most important thing is choosing the right application architecture. OODBs give applications much more direct access to the persistent data, so application architecture has much more impact on performance than is the case with an RDB. Or to put it another way, when using an OODB the application architect has much more power to optimize performance than when using an RDB. Consequently the application architecture has more effect on performance and scalability than the choice of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, a database system contains the five following features: Persistence As in a conventional database, data must remain after the process that created it has terminated. For this purpose data has to be stored permanently on secondary storage. Secondary Storage Management Traditional databases employ techniques, which manage secondary storage in order to improve the performance of the system. These are usually invisible to the user of the system. Concurrency The system should provide a concurrency mechanism, which is similar to the concurrency mechanisms in conventional databases. Recovery The system should provide a recovery mechanism similar to recovery mechanisms in conventional databases. Ad hoc query facility The database should provide a high level, efficient, application independent query facility. This needs not necessarily be a query language but could instead, be some type of graphical interface. The above criteria are perhaps the most complete attempt so far to define the features of an object oriented database in 1989. Further attempts to define an OODBS standard were made

Advantages And DisadvantagesOf Kayak Fishing Kayak fishing has rapidly evolved into a mainstream style of fishing in the past 10 years. The largest difference between fishing kayaks and other kayaks is usually in the way they re rigged with a complex array of fishing accessories attached into a comparatively small area. The ease with which these accessories might be added to a routine kayakshortly resulted in the development of a different line of kayak models designed specifically for the angler. Yet with all of these popular advancements, there s now another fashion of kayak that s becoming increasingly more popular among avid kayak fishermen. The inflatable kayak was often considered as a toy compared to other kayaks, but the inflatable kayaks of today are not anything like their early counterparts. Previous inflatable versions were flimsy and sometimes as light as an average pool raft. The modern inflatable kayaks have turned out to be exceptionally safe and are accessible from quality makers. They re known to be quite durable and puncture proof. So while there are pros and cons with inflatables, as there are with any other style of kayak, the disadvantages appear to be an acceptable trade off in return for the edges that are available in no other type of fishing kayak. ... Research Paper OnThe Rihanna-Chris Brown Dating Abuse Modern media is very powerful in influencing today s world. They use this power to influence people s opinions and convince them to believe anything that they write or said. With the many different media platforms there are in today s society, we have decided to look a bit deeper into the news media platform of tabloids and magazines. Specifically how media frames dating abuse when it first becomes publicized. We decided to focus our Final Research Paper on the Rihanna Chris Brown dating abuse incident in 2009. The Rihanna Chris Brown scandal all started when the couple were traveling by car and an argument broke out. This argument lead to a physical fight when Chris Brown physically let his anger out on Rihanna by hitting her. Almost every magazines and talk show started writing and talking about it. This scandal became a very hot topic of conversation, and almost everyone had something to say about it. We found that in a lot of these comments and discussions we heard to be focused on victim blaming, Rihanna s abuse being objectified, sexualized and romanticized. These are unacceptable comments for many tabloids and magazines to be putting into their publications. Not only does this normalize the abuse towards Rihanna but many times it distracts from the real hard facts about this case. Rihanna was abused and that fault is falling onto her from what we are seeing in the tabloids and magazines. We have found specific articles and headlines that prove there was significant, ... The SARA ModelOf Gangs Gangs, what are they? Who are they? And why are they a problem? What do we think of when we hear the word gang, overall it s a word that comes with a lot of negative baggage, violence and not a very good thing. The word gang can have a lot of different meanings of people coming together for something. However, today in our societies the word gangs is defined as an organized group of criminals. A gangis a group of persons with close social relations that work together in unlawful ways for their profit and or benefit. One time or another we have all heard of gangs and know a little about the violence and criminal behaviors that they are involved in from social media and the news. In an article the FBI says that gangs are morphing, multiplying, migrating and entrenching themselves in our inner cities, suburbs and rural communities. They are selling drugs to our kids, shooting up our neighborhoods, invading our homes, robbing our banks and stores, stealing our identities, our money, and instilling fear and violence everywhere they go(The Gang...,2009). Using the SARA model in trying to understand the problem with gangs, I turn to the first steps in this model, scanning and analysing, identifying what s the problem. In a study done in 1981 in California they found that gangs became one of the biggest crime problem because of assaults, drive by shootings, homicides, and brutal home invasion robberies that caused a serious threat to public safety(Friedrichs, 1999). The Myths AndRituals At Mycenaean And Minoan Sites Sir Arthur Evans in the twentieth century, helped to explain many existing questions about Homer s epics and provided archaeological evidence for many of the mythological details about gods and heroes. Unfortunately, the evidence about myths and rituals at Mycenaean and Minoan sites is entirely monumental, as the Linear B script was used mainly to record inventories, although certain names of gods and heroes have been tentatively identified. Secondly, visual sources sometimes represent myths or mythical scenes that are not attested in any extant literary source. In some cases, the first known representation of a myth in geometric art predates its first known representation in late archaic poetry, by several centuries. The earlier inhabitants of the Balkan Peninsula were an agricultural people who, using Animism, assigned a spirit to every aspect of nature. Eventually, these vague spirits assumed human forms and entered the local mythology as gods. When tribes from the north of the Balkan Peninsula invaded, they brought with them a new pantheon of gods, based on conquest, force, prowess in battle, and violent heroism. Other older gods of the agricultural world fused with those of the more powerful invaders or else faded into insignificance. After the middle of the Archaic period, myths about relationships between male gods and male heroes became more and more frequent, indicating the parallel development of pedagogic pederasty, thought to have been introduced around 630 BC. ... The Rights OfRuth Simpson And Gay Rights Ruth Simpson (1926 2008) Run through plagiarism check Politics isn t just about who gets to conquer countries, fight wars or make laws in government. It s also about the slow grind and struggle of those who work behind the scenes to make things happen. Nobody exemplifies this more than Ruth Simpson, a gay rights activist who toiled for decades to raise awareness of LGBTQ rights in the US. In 1976, when Ruth wrote her pioneering book on lesbian identity, From the Closet to the Courts, gay men and women could be fired from their jobs, targeted by police, or harassed on the street with full impunity. The majority of US states even legally barred gay people from certain jobs, including those in teaching, policing, law and medicine even dentistry. If anything is testament to the work that LGBTQ activists like Ruth have done, it is that such measures seem ludicrous and unthinkable today. But the world that Ruth operated in was a vastly different one. Born to two committed socialists deeply involved in the labor movement, Ruth was exposed to activism at an early age. By the time she was 12, her parents were taking her to picket lines, where she witnessed her father beaten up by a cop right in front of her. The result, however, was that Ruth disavowed politics she had seen the heartbreak and anxiety that her parents activism had brought about. While certainly not always the case, Hector could benefit greatly from considering this piece of advice. Andromache offers Hector a piece of strategic advice for the war, which he brushes off and response very harshly to. Hector s response offers a glimpse of a side of Hector that is not previously seen in the book before. Hector s answer to Andromache is a grim and dismal outlook of what Hector sees for the future. The advice she offers to Hector is to take the army and fight behind the walls of Troy. Her logic is: three times the Greeks have attacked under the walls, and three times they have failed. Fighting an open battle has proven to be disadvantageous to the Trojans and she believes the best her strategy is the best... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Realizing Hector s opposition lies not in the semantics of the plan, but in the principles he stands for, I would change my argument to challenge those very conventions. Since Hector never once mentions the importance the survival of his wife and son, I would question his loyalty to his family and his role as a father. The text shows Hector cares for his wife and especially his son Astyanax. I would verbally confront him on the idea that it is clear he places his own glory over his family. The nobility of condemning his wife and infant child to a life of slavery is certainly less noble than doing whatever it takes to protect them. In fact, Hector is jeopardizing the lives not only of his family, but of his people as well. I would ask him what kind of leader ignores the survival of his people in pursuit of his own glory. By confronting Hector s principles and idea of nobility, I have addressed the root of his opposition to my plan. Even if he does not accept the argument, his basic way of life is challenged and he must question the rationale of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fanon Vs PontcorvoEssay Frantz Fanon and Pontecorvo could not have come from more different backgrounds, so it seems. Pontecorvo was a Catholic film maker from Italy while Fanon hailed from Martinique and practiced psychiatry, philosophy and wrote about post colonialist theory. Even though these men seemed completely different, they both believed that violence, was not the answer to solving problems. More specifically, these two men created art and wrote about colonialismand what is perpetuated because of it. Pontecorvo created the Battle of Algiers not too long after the end of the Algerian War , which ended in 1962, with Algerian independence from France. This is Pontecorvo s subtle way of stating that not all colonizers are the same. Pontecorvo s stance on violence toward the colonizer is apparent he does not think it is justifiable. By humanizing the colonizer, especially during the bombings, he is stating that we are all broken people. Christianity recognizes human depravity, which is why people need God to save them and forgive them for their sins. Pontecorvo s music plays a massive role in conveying how both types of people, the colonizer and the colonized are capable of great evil, but both can be justified through God. He believes that once the colonizers and colonized can understand that they share the same human brokenness, then maybe they can try to understand each other or work towards restorative ... What Are TheFive Elements Of Housebreaking 1.4 Elements of housebreaking In South African law, housebreaking consists of five elements. These elements are a crucial part of the crime, the reason is simple: all of the elements must be present in order for a perpetrator to be guilty of housebreaking with the intent to commit a crime. 1.4.1 Breaking Breaking refers to a perpetrator that displaces some obstruction, which forms part of the premises, in order to create an entry onto that premises. Breaking can take effect when a lock, window or door is forced open or broken. A displacement of a fragment of a structureor building can occur, which indicates an interior break of the premises (example: a safe inside a home). While the women in the church have an organized discipleship effort happening, there is not a concerted effort to grow men into faithful followers of Jesus Christ. The men of the church need a program where discipleship happens intentionally. The scripture that First Baptist Church uses for it s vision is Matthew 5:13. The City on a Hill theme comes for this verse. The idea is that we should be salt and light to the world so that others will know Him through us. People are not committed followers of Christ just because they study the Bible. That is only part of the process. The Great Commission tells us to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey (Matthew 28:16). The Great Commandment tells us to love God and others. (Matthew 22). The New Commandment in John tells us to love one another (John 13:34 35). The church needs to be able to forge relationship so that they in turn can reproduce more Christians. The commitment level in the Sunday School ministries is strong at First Baptist. About 60 percent of the Sunday morning worship is also in Sunday School. Sunday School tends to be strictly educational in nature. The groups do take care of each other in most cases. However, mentoring and further discipleship is not happening. The participation in other discipleship programs is much smaller. As stated earlier, the groups that are meeting outside of Sunday School are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Benefits Of AJob For A Resident s Life Span And... Robert Burney (2015) explains that CCRCs all offer multiple levels of care, but not all contracts cap long term costs regardless of the level of care. Type A contract facilities are able to cap these costs, which make them more favorable. However, in order to accomplish this control of futuristic costs, institutions must require a significant entrance fee for residents. Essentially, residents buy in to their retirement community and are then contracted at a fixed rate for all futuristic expenses, regardless of the resident s life span and potential care needs. As one would expect, the initial buy in is very costly and could range from $50,000 to over $1,000,000 (Burney, 2015). Depending on the needs a resident may require in the future he or she may be arranging a deal of great value or one that will prove to be exceptionally expensive. Nevertheless, Type A contracts are made to reflect estimates of average healthcare costs seen in many elderly persons as they transition through multiple levels of care (Burney, 2015). Because of these analyzed costs, a facility s financial planner can easily establish residential rates to cover basic living needs, possible increased healthcare requirements, and the sustainment of the business. Many vigorous steps of financial planning should be done from all parties involved in any long term agreement in order to consider the time value of moneyin regards to futuristic costs and benefits. These inquiries highlight her thoughts on love, marriage, gender roles, art, and death, while unraveling mysteries ranging from legal discourse to Etruscan smiles. In addition to a foreword by Marietta Messmer, the volume includes essays by Paul Crumbley, Karen Dandurand, Jane Donahue Eberwein, Judith Farr, James Guthrie, Ellen Louise Hart, Eleanor Heginbotham, Cindy MacKenzie, Martha Nell Smith, and Stephanie Tingley. This poem is a four line stanza, most of her work was. She would write in many different styles .She wanted to be different and unique. Emily wanted her work to standout. She never wrote your typical poems. There was not structure in her writing. While reading the poem you cannot get a lot from it about Dickinson but you can understand her philosophy about the human body. The beginning stanza The Brain is wider then the sky, for, put them side to side . She is saying that the two are the same in many ways. The sky is endless and always growing, as is a brain. The literature review will guide this study by give an understanding of how new innovations in social media are being adopted by the use of Diffusion of Innovation Theory. The first three sections of the literature review will provide information of the American and Scandinavian culture, with the focus on the differences in the use of technology between them. The forth section will provide Social Media and Facebook, which is essential in understanding this study. In sum, this literature review consists of the following sections: Culture (the differences in use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The definitions explain that culture as human made and that it is learned, it highlights subjective elements such as values, beliefs and behaviors. However, culture is a term that is difficult to define and it is difficult to identify all the factors that it encompasses (Davey, 2011). Culture includes gender, sexual orientation, race, socioeconomic status, and cultural background (Peters Williams, 2009). Other terms such as mainstream, minority, ethnicity religion and race are used to describe how a group of people, a community or a nation lives in their social and physical environment (Schinke Hanrahan, 2009). 2.2 American Culture and Technology From a historic viewpoint, the American culture has dominated global culture based on its technological leadership of Web based and consumer technology (Ashby, 2006). While these innovations are adopted outside the United States, in America it becomes less and more global. Cortada (2009) explains that American Web sites, applications and high tech gadgets are dispersed worldwide, which results that it becomes less US centric, even though they remain influenced by American culture. By using Facebook in this thesis, one sees that this technology is clearly a part of American culture, but worldwide adoption causes them to become less American. A Report OnThe Security System In December of 2015, Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik killed 14 people at a holiday party in San Bernardino, California. Authorities believe the two attackers were influenced by violent jihadist ideology. Both Farook and Malik were killed later that day in a gunfight with the authorities. Upon searching their house, law enforcement confiscated Farook s corporate owned iPhone (Brown, 2016, p. 8). However, when the FBI tried to unlock this iPhone, they discovered that the securitysystem in place on it would erase everything on the phone if more than ten unsuccessful attempts to open it occur. Changing Voting Restrictions Haveyou ever felt like the government is trying to take away your voice? Well if you allow them to take away your right to vote with new restrictions on who can or can not vote then that is what they are basically doing. It would be taking away the already small voice you have in your governmental system. If they were to change the requirements then it would cause mass confusion of electionday, it would be erasing what some people fought for to earn the right to vote, and the votingrate is low enough. One of the main reasons why we should not change the voting restrictions it that it would cause mass confusion when it came to election day. Election day is already heptic enough when it comes time for the american people to vote for their next commander in chief. It would just add on to the craiz and confusion if people went to go vote and was not allowed to because of a new type of restriction out that they did not know of. For example, during the 2016 election between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump there were 14 different states that had new voting laws. One of the 14 states that changed their voting laws was Connecticut. Examples Of St.Petersburg Paradox 2.2.6 The Bernoulli Hypothesis Daniel Bernoulli, the 18th century Swiss mathematician evinced great interest in the problem known as St. Petersburg paradox and tried to resolve this. Bernoulli establish that Russians were reluctant to make bets even at better than 50 50 odds knowing wholly that their mathematical expectations of winning money in a particular kind of gamble were greater the more money they bet. This contradiction is known as St. Petersburg Paradox. St. Petersburg paradox denotes to the problem why most people are unenthusiastic to take part in a fair bet or game. For example, offer of participating in a gamble in which a person has even chance (that is, 50 50 odds) of winning or losing ВЈ1000 is a fair game. To explain it, Bernoulli ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the individual behaves on the basis of expected utility from the extra money if he wins a game and the marginal utility of money to him declines as he has extra money, most individuals will not play the game , that is, will not make a bet. It is in this way that Bernoulli resolved St. Petersburg paradox . A graphic illustration will make clear Bernoulli s solution to the paradox. Consider Figure 17.1 in which on the X axis, the quantity of money (thousands of rupees) and on the Y axis, marginal utility of money (rupees) to an individual are measured. Suppose an individual has 20 thousands of rupees with him and can make a bet at even odd (i.e., 50 50 chance) of winning or losing rupees one thousand. If he wins the bet, money with him will rise to 21 thousand (20 + 1) rupees. If as a result of an increase in money with him, his expected marginal utility of money declines, then the expected marginal utility of extra one thousand rupees to him which is depicted by the rectangle CDFE is less than the extra marginal utility of the previous one thousand (i.e., 20th thousand) rupees which is measured by the rectangle ... Portia, The MerchantOf Venice Portia, The Merchant of Venice Do you agree that Portia is a memorable character in the play The Merchant of Venice? In the play The Merchant of Venice, there are many female characters who face injustice alone in society. Portia as many seemingly paradoxical identities. This makes her a memorable character in the play The Merchant of Venice. She has represented being dutiful towards her father, being an innocent young woman, a mortal breathing saint who posses god like amity , a hard headed and calculating lawyer who is fully conversant with the tricks of the legal trade, and is advocate of mercy who ruthlessly destroys Shylock. Portia is not a memorable character because amongst her god like amity and her mortal breathing saint personality, she also portrays a deceitful character through her complex personality. Portia s personality is superficial. Her evaluation of her suitors is both articulate and scathing; Portia deconstructs each man with a kind of clinical precision, seeming to take particular pleasure in questioning their masculinity. God made him, and therefore let him pass as a man; (1.2.50). This quote reveals Portia s conception of masculinity seems to have little to do with mere anatomy. The French Lord, she says, though he posses the outward signs of masculinity, plays a man s part poorly that only God s intent allows him to be considered one. She apparently believes herself to have superior judgement of what make a truly masculine man. Though her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This data shows the very low priority accorded to the healthsector by the government in India. In 2007, according to WHO s World Health Statistics, India ranked 184 among 191 countries in terms of public expenditure on health as a percent of GDP. In per capita terms, India ranked 164 in the same sample of 191 countries, spending just about $29 (PPP). Are Websites BeneficialFor A Secondary Special Education... For this assignment, I decided to use http://www.nsttac.org/ and http://www.ncset.org/ to research and discuss. I believe that both websites would be beneficial for a secondary special education teacher for many reasons. I was a little lost when researching the websites because I do not know what most of the information is talking about, but I think a secondary special educationteacher would. Both websites had a lot of information on how to create opportunities for youth with disabilities to achieve successful futures. The website, http://www.ncset.org/, focused on four major areas of national significance for youth with disabilities and their families, which include: providing students with disabilities with improved access and success in the secondary educationcurriculum, ensuring that students achieve positive post school results in accessing postsecondary education, meaningful employment, independent living and participation in all aspects of community life, supporting student and family participation in educational and post school decision making and planning, and improving collaboration and system linkages at all levels through the development of broad based partnerships and networks at the national, state, and local levels.
