The William T. Travis Building in Austin, Texas
Most people don t know where it is. Most people have never seen it. Most people have never even
heard of it. Despite this, the William B. Travis Building in Austin, Texas is where American history is
made. Correction, this is where the events and memories of the present and near past get wedged into
America s long term cultural memory or slip into oblivion. Since Texas buys or distributes 48 million
textbooks annually, educational publishers tailor their products to fit the standards adopted by the
Lone Star State. This makes the Texas state board of education, which is housed in the William B.
Travis Building, the most influential state board of education in America. Every year this board draws
national attention when it meets to adopt or reject proposed changes to the social studies curriculum,
which are guidelines that will affect children across America for the next 10 years. In 2010, the most
fiercely debated proposal was bringing Christianity into the coverage of American history. More
specifically bringing the Christian truth about America s founding into public schools. However, this
debate has been going on since the early nineteenth century. People have always questioned how to
reconcile the idea of America as a Christian nation with that of America as a beacon for religious
freedom. To answer this question for ourselves, we must understand religious life in colonial America,
religion in the Constitution and the debate surrounding Jefferson s Wall of Separation

Sally Asimov
Sally is a fictional story written in 1953 by Isaac Asimov about driverless cars that are capable of
communicating. The story relates to the vehicles of today and the news articles of today. Both stories,
Sally and the Newsela article, talk about driverless and cars that communicate with other cars, but
only the Newsela article is based off of real life. The Newsela article talks about how new cars are
able to communicate with each other, and how they tell each other about obstacles and other things on
the road. Sally talks about cars that drive by themselves and how the cars communicate with each
other. V2V will provide 360 degree situational awareness on the road, (Lowy) A positronic brain can
react much faster than a human one, of course, and it paid people to keep hands off the controls. Page

Argumentative Essay On Tupac Death
Tupac Shakur was born on June 16, 1971 until 25 years ago had disappeared from his fans, and family
members. Tupac Shakur was also known as 2Pac, selling over 75 million records worldwide, also
bestselling, and influential rappers of all times. On September 7, 1996, Shakur was fatally shot in
drive by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was taken to Southern Nevada hospital where he passed
six days later. According to the coroner s report, Shakur was 6 feet and weighed 215 pounds, but he
actually was 5.10 and weighted 165 pounds. Many say no one really saw Tupac in the hospital at all,
so there was no autopsy. Legally an autopsy is required to be taken right after death has occurred.
Multiple stories upon Tupac s disappearance has cause many in confusion and disappointment. Many
confusion had lead that Tupac was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance. Also, during an interview
Suge Knight states that he took Tupac to the hospital himself rather than anyone else. Lastly, an
unknown lady who was interviewed on the news had told the reporter that she had saw Tupac going to
a helicopter. There has been multiple theories that he be alive and living a secret living, which now
police may have him in witness protection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

governmental group about a song they had recorded including a secret message stating that they have
killed Tupac. As we know that is just another murder confession that just throws off the whole case. In
addition Suge has added that Tupac is still living, and that s why there has been no arrest for Tupac
murder. Uncertain of how serious he was he also stated he is on an island enjoying a Cuban

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Matching System
3.4 Evaluation
As a basis for this logical framework first order logic can be used. For evaluation stratification can
also be applied. It is a bottom up evaluation phenomenon.
For evaluating matching rules there is need to have a hold on aggregation operations. To find the best
match first compute all possible matches with their matching confidence.
4 Challenges
There are mainly three drawbacks of rule based techniques:
1. They cannot utilize data instances efficiently even though they conceal ample amount of
information like distribution, value format, frequency of words, and so on that would help in matching
process.
2. In some cases writing matching rules is very difficult due to incomplete information while in
learning based approach using appropriate learning methods such as Naïve Bayes make probabilistic
rules which can be done easily.
3. It cannot exploit previous matching efforts to serve the current matchings. Hence, systems that uses
only rule based techniques face difficulties learning from the past, to improve over time.
Due to these reasons learning approach is developed and followed.
5 Opportunities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A new self configuring and adaptive schema matching system has been proposed. It uses a
combination of schema and matrix features as well as different matching rules to construct and adapt
matching processes automatically. This framework offers some advantages like: correct methods for
dealing with schemas that are semantically rich like ontologies; extensible matchers; and semi
automated derivation of the rules that are constructed for matching based on already mapped sources
like identifying constraints, synonyms etc. For diverse match problems this approach returns good
results as well as it is a good competitor of manually tuned approaches. It can be further enhanced to
support more complicated

Rugby Team Reflection
Since the spring of my sophomore year, I have been tasked with leading a true motley crew. By others
this crew is called the Edina Rugby Club; however, I think of each and every one one of these young
men as brothers. Without the sport of rugby, I would not have had the great fortune of meeting so
many teammates of different distinctive personalities, backgrounds and ethnicity. There are kids from
the high school band to the math club to the varsity football team who make up this crew. Given the
responsibility to lead these young men, I have grown as a teammate and also as a human being. I have
developed the ability to respect everyone, regardless of who they are, where they are from, and what
they believe in. I learn from these young men and let them teach me different things about each of
their cultures that without rugby I might never have learned. When I consider each teammate, despite
different ethnicities and backgrounds, I see that they are no different than me. I have learned to respect
people not for where they come from or what they believe in, but for who they are and how they
conduct themselves as a young man. With that being said, I still have the utmost respect for each
individual s personal beliefs and history. However, as a leader I feel that if we can get by the
stereotypical norms of categorizing people we will find ourselves not only having greater success as
leaders but as a society as a whole. Ultimately, those who lead are responsible for teaching the

Milken Dance Experience Essay
Towards the end of this past summer I attended the Milken Dance Intensives and discovered a new
passion for dance. I loved it so much that I decided to try out for the team. I practiced the dances and
the techniques that the teacher taught me until the first day of tryouts.
I went into tryouts scared of the new dance our teacher would be teaching us and feeling intimidated
by the more advanced dancers. I felt nervous that I wouldn t get a position on the team because there
were so many people trying out.
When I went home that night I wondered if everyone who came to this tryout would come to the next,
if I would get on the team, and when he would send the video of the dance so that I could practice it.

My hands were shaking, my body was shaking, I was feeling very uneasy about the dance. I still felt I
had not gotten enough practice. I performed the dance with a smaller group of people than the full
group so that we could all be examined by the judges more carefully. Being examined more carefully
was extremely stressful. The judges were able to see my every step. My heart started racing as the
music started. There was no turning back now. Everything I worked for reflected on this moment. All
my worries washed away as I took the first step. I was halfway done with the dance. The hardest part
was coming up. Leap, turn, place my leg carefully so that I could land in the perfect way. Heart
thumping, anxiety coming back. As I was in the air I moved my leg so that I could land perfectly and
all of a sudden I fell. I messed up but had to continue. I felt so embarrassed but I was very proud of all
the work I had put into memorizing it. The dance was over. I messed up one time but I kept reminding
myself that everybody messes up sometimes. I was afraid of the results that I would receive on
Sunday. I woke up to an email that I had gotten onto the JV dance team along with my friends. I was
ecstatic and so were my friends. Ever since dance started I have gotten so much closer with the girls
that I dance with and I would definetly recomend dance team to anyone who is interested in

The Sense Of Place By Jane Heaney
Also emanating from the sectarian subject is Heaney s etymological study of Northern Ireland s
landscape in order to transcend the contemporary political situation. In his lecture The Sense of Place
given in 1977, Heaney explains that according to John Montague, the whole Irish landscape is a
manuscript and Northern Ireland s history ensures an endless opportunity to treat the local landscape
and its terminology as such. Originally, one language was spoken here; Gaelic Irish. However,
resulting from plantations by English and Scottish settlers, Gaelic was infiltrated by their languages,
thus creating three different dialects. Heaney therefore maintains a linguistic equilibrium by remaining
faithful to the English language, as well as his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

planted settlers over the preceding centuries. Expanding further on this, Heaney claims to be an
etymologist of roots and graftings . Graftings means the joining of the tissues of plants and the use of
this term can be seen as referring to the adjoining of the two cultures in Northern

Systemic Sclerosis
Vasculopathy in Systemic Sclerosis
Introduction
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a multi faceted, heterogeneous disease of unknown etiology. Despite its
high clinical variability, it is consistently characterized by three main elements: vascular alterations,
autoimmunity and progressive fibrosis. However, there is increasing evidence that SSc pathogenesis is
dominated by vascular changes, as demonstrated by numerous experimental and clinical studies (1).
Diagnosis is made by the physician based on the presence of specific features; however, until recently,
the requirements for classifying patients as having SSc lacked sensitivity for milder or early forms of
the disease. Taking into account the pleomorphism of SSc disease manifestation, the American ...

The Rising Price Of The American Social Contract
Many of the protesters occupying Wall Street and other places say they are upset about the rising price
of going to college. There is little dispute today that the number of students who have debt has
increased, and that the amount of money they have borrowed has gone up (Billitteri). Many students
incur large amounts of debt that will never pay dividends in higher wages or greater job satisfaction,
and they graduate into a world with weak employment prospects. It s a betrayal of the American social
contract that says if you work hard and invest in yourself through education, you ll be able to build a
better life. The current system is badly in need of an overhaul, and this paper will present several ways
to bring about this needed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1980s it covered about half; in the 1970s it covered more than 70 percent. (Abramson).
The reality is that for young people today, it is harder to educate one s way into the middle class, and
college costs are leaving many in this generation without the credentials they need to thrive in the 21st
century economy. One radical solution that recently has been proposed is that the federal government
should completely cancel student loan debt to stimulate the economy (Caffentzis, 31). However,
history has shown that in the case of tax rebate checks, people tend to spend any rebates to pay off
other existing debt, or they simply save them. This does little to stimulate the economy, and one
suspects that the same would happen with across the board loan forgiveness (_Harris_).
However, there are several measures that can be taken to make college more affordable. Let s start
with the student loan and grant system. The government should increase the number of need based
Pell Grants awarded to students, but there should also be more grant money given to the students
willing to chose a cheaper public college or start their academic career by attending community
college. Most colleges would consequently want to keep their tuition costs low to remain attractive to
prospective students. This goes hand in hand with the fact that administration

Some of the most analyzed aspects of emotion and the life, by literary greats throughout the past
several centuries, have been the issue of death and the physical, spiritual, and emotional attachments
that can be defined as love. Even though writers of prose and poetry have long belabored these two
specific areas of discussion, the depth and diversity in approach is something that can only be
described with regards to the differential between personalities and the world you of the author in

Instead, the author focuses a great deal of energy on examining the fact that even though the time to
act is now and an urgency, tension, and immediacy defines the love and passion that the subject has
for the Mistress, a deeper and more profound realization of what defines love and the eternity of
passion and interest that the subject could direct for this Mistress if only she opened her heart and her
body to the subject is reflected in a variety of different ways. For instance, after the exhortation to stop
dismissing the advances of the suitor, Marvell references the fact that in so doing the woman would be
able to experience love as she had never before seen it. Ultimately, what is presented to the reader is
an argument for the immediacy, passion, and necessity to experience love in the moment. However,
due to the fact that a woman would likely find the emotion of immediacy and the need to seize the day
as alarming and definitive of a passing craze or crush, the poetry goes to great lengths to prove that the
nature of the emotions that are being defined are not short lived but will instead last for far longer than
life itself is able to exist. By means of contrast, John

The second paragraph of the United States Declaration of Independence states that all men are created
equal, but America is still experiencing racial inequality in today s society. Racial equality should be
something that we strive to achieve in our country. Inequalities based on gender, race, and social
characteristics are unfair and an issue we the people can change. We still experience injustice through
race in many different categories of life such as education, employment, and wealth. The issue of
racial inequality is a social barrier that Americans are yet to overcome.

Workplace inequalities are when an employee is discriminated against because of their race , age ,
gender, class or sexual orientation. As Americans you would think that we would have this concept
under control with all our laws in place, but unfortunately we do not. Along with workplace
discrimination , we have race pay gaps as well. I believe the wage gap comes from greed , we have
come so far as a country that this should not be an issue anymore. Wages in America are the primary
source of income for out people. There are many factors to why there are wage gaps, lack of
education, family issues and of course discrimination. According to the Pew Research Center, white
men earn more money than Hispanics, African Americans and women. Discrimination can make
obtaining employment difficult and make life more harsh, While 40% of blacks say their race or
ethnicity has made it harder for them to succeed in life, just 5% of whites and 20% of Hispanics say
this. (Pew Research Center, 2016) Consistent discrimination in America can cause people to believe
what their discriminators are saying making them feel shameful and hopeless. This is a social barrier
that has proven difficult for Americans to overcome due to people witnessing discrimination and

Reading is an attempt to absorb the thought of the author and know what the author is conveying
(Leedy 1956). Studying is the interpretation of reading materials. Study habits and skills are
particularly important for college students, whose needs include time management, note taking,
Internet skill, the elimination of distractions, and assigning a high priority to study. . Marcus Credé
and Nathan R. Kuncel (2008) in their research at the University of Albany said that Study habit, skill,
and attitude inventories and constructs were found to rival standardized tests and previous grades as
predictors of academic performance, yielding substantial incremental validity in predicting academic
performance. The meta analysis examined the construct validity and predictive validity of 10 study
skill constructs for college students. They found that study skill inventories and constructs are largely
independent of both high school grades and scores on standardized admissions tests but moderately
related to various personality constructs; these results were inconsistent with previous theories. Study
motivation and study skills exhibit the strongest relationships with both grade point average and
grades in individual classes. They also said that Academic specific anxiety was found to be an
important negative predictor of performance. In addition, significant variation in the validity of
specific inventories is shown. Scores on traditional study habit

Lord of the Flies
William Golding
Summer Essay
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, one of the scenes that I think is central to the
development of the story is when Ralph and Piggy discover the conch shell on the beach and use it to
summon the boys together after the crash. This scene has great importance to the plot of the story
considering it was the first time the boys held a meeting and discussed their situation. They came up
with a system that would eliminate chaos. For example, in their very first meeting, they voted on a
chief, choosing Ralph over Jack because he was the one with the conch. This proves that the boys
seem to think that power, responsibility, and leadership skills come from the conch. In reference

How Does Golding Use Symbols In Lord Of The Flies
Symbolism in The Lord of The Flies
It is impossible to read William Golding s novel, The Lord of the Flies, without noticing the
symbolism that was present. A symbol can be a person, place, or thing that represents something more
than its literal meaning (Telgen 15) From butterflies to actual characters, you could sense that this
book contained symbolism. Although Lord of the Flies appears on the surface to be a mere story about
children abandoned on an island, William Golding uses symbolism to convey a deeper meaning.
This novel had many accounts of symbolism. It also captured the keen interest of their instructors in
debating the merits and defeats of different characters and the hunting down of literary sources and
deeper symbolic meanings in the story (Telgen 2). Most of the events, characters, and objects had
symbolic meanings. His narrative style has an unusual lucidity and vitality because he never forgets
the concrete in his search for symbolic action (Cox 2). Golding consistently looked for ways to add
symbols in his novel. Many critics pointed out how much this story was symbolic. A story so
explicitly symbolic as this might easily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was described as the christ figure. Another article compared him to the religious prophet or seer

Importance of Early Childhood Education Essay
Importance of Early Childhood Education
Early childhood education is for children from the ages three to eight years old. In this field there are
four learning goals that early programs have for a young child.
The four learning goals are: knowledge (consists of facts, concepts, ideas, and vocabulary), skills (
small units of action that occur in short period of time), disposition ( respond to certain situations), and
feelings ( emotional states) ( Katz 2003). With an successful care giving and early education, it can
bring an positive outcome to a child s life. What a child learns in their early years are things that will

Not only does early education bring the benefit of interaction, it also lets the child feel loved and have
trust in others. If a child is encountered with early programs then they are able to meet the needs of
their child stage life. If these needs are not properly met, then they may become less successful in their
performance in an educational environment.
Learning Opportunities
There are many types of learning opportunities that can encourage a child to learn and help to enhance
their abilities. Child care centers are a great way to encourage a child to learn, and to be ready for the
school atmosphere. The Big Top Child Care Center in Laurel, Maryland have an excellent program for
children between two to nine years of age. They have an environment where teachers are well trained
and are first aid and CPR certified. They enhance a child s learning by providing them with nutrition,
educational field trips, and special events. Elementary schools are the opening door for early
childhood education. Children can begin their learning experience in pre kindergarten and
kindergarten which are the first grades of elementary education. Ring Factory Elementary located at
Harford county in Maryland is a school that has three kindergarten classes that teach five to six year
olds the beginning of their educational life. Not only are there child care centers and schools a great

In the start of Fahrenheit 451, Montag s thoughts are that fire is good for society. He burns books for a

Beatty, and the academics. Montag s understanding of the nature of fire changes as he becomes

It was a pleasure to burn (1). Montag never thought much of his job, to him, it was merely his duty.

alike. Not everyone born free and equal, as the constitution says, but everyone made equal. . . . A book
is a loaded gun in the house next door. Burn it. This is when Beatty is confiding in Montag, making
him finally piece together what he has been doing all of these years as a fireman. He finally can begin
to comprehend the society he is in, and what measures the government has taken to subdue the
population. Later on in the book, Beatty and Montag face each other once more. After Montag is
brought to his own house and told to burn it down, and facing no escape due to the hound, he burns it
down. After burning down his own home, Beatty tells him he is under arrest, and begins to provoke
him. As Beatty clearly intended, Montag kills him, turning him into a charred corpse. The fact that he
died by fire, and knowingly chose to die by the flamethrower is interesting. Nevertheless, this is the
point of no return for Montag, knowing that he did what he had to do, and that he was now an enemy
of the state. At this point, Guy

Wireless Security And Vulnerability In The Wireless Network
Vulnerability in the Wireless Network
Rafael Reccy
Seminole State College
Abstract
Wi Fi can be found anywhere in this day in age, you can walk into almost any establishment and you
ll be sure to find their Wi Fi, accessible from anywhere within their spaces. Each data packet being
transmitted through the air, whether containing private, sensitive or insensitive information, is
available for an attacker to capture. To fight against this, there have been some standards that have
come out through the years to guard and protect data, such as WPA. All standards have been created to
replace the preceding one due to vulnerabilities found in the engineering of them. Still to this day, not
every standard is fully secure, attackers still find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although, there is one of the vulnerabilities that is pretty much impossible to guard against, DoS like
Molta points out, Other problems are looming, the most pernicious of which are DoS (denial of
service) attacks. While DoS is a fact of life on all networks, it s worse on wireless networks because
not only do you need to guard against attacks at Layer 2 and above, you re also extremely vulnerable
to physical layer attacks to the medium (Molta, 2002, p. 18). In this essay, some vulnerabilities will be
looked at that can affect Wi Fi home users as well as businesses that implement wireless networks
because both types of networks can be affected by the same types of intrusion or disruption attacks.
Even though this paper is about vulnerabilities, it is important to point out that wi fi networks can still
be operated safely with a high level of security in place.
Wireless networks are considered vulnerable when an incident occurs that exploits the capability to
perform the desired requirement of maintaining performance and concealment of data. Most
vulnerabilities happen because of the science behind a wireless network, the fact that it uses air as a
medium makes it harder to protects because the environment of air is not stable and when it comes to
delivering sacred information you must be on

Essay on Vitality and Death in James Joyce s The Dead
Vitality and Death in The Dead
In his short story The Dead, James Joyce creates a strong contrast between Gabriel, who is
emotionally lifeless, and the other guests, who are physically aging and near death. Though physical
mortality is inevitable, Joyce shows that emotional sterility is not, and Gabriel ultimately realizes this
and decides that he must follow his passions. Throughout the story, a strong focus on death and
mortality, a focus that serves as a constant reminder of our inevitable end of physical life, is prevalent
in Joyce s selection of details. In the story, the unconquerable death ultimately triumphs over life, but
it brings a triumph for the central character, not a loss. Despite the presence of death, the ... Show

was gray; and gray also, with darker shadows, was her large flaccid face (2348). She adds little to the
conversations, but she does exhibit her exuberance when she sings with all her youthful vigor, hailed
as her best performance yet as Mr. Browne exclaims, Miss Julia Morkan my latest discovery! (2356)
Joyce sarcastically describes Aunt Kate s face as being healthier than her sister s, ...all puckers and
creases (2348). She is livelier than her sister, though, and argues with her niece about the honour of
God. Without shame, she fiercely criticizes the pope, a sentiment that takes much fortitude to assert.
Mr. Browne is no exception to this pattern of death, as he sports a wizened face that reveals many
wrinkles upon smiling. However, he has quite a character, as he youthfully jests that he is the man for
the ladies. He is consistent with this claim as he is quite social with the ladies, and even proceeds at
one point, gallantly escorting Aunt Julia. He is not afraid to seize life, take a risk, as he pours himself a
glass of whisky. He even says perhaps the funniest line of the story, when he interjects with a pun, I
hope... that I m brown enough for you because, you know, I m all brown. (2360)
Death, besides being present in the form of the characters mortality, also dominates much of the
conversation, such as the brief discussion of an order of monks where they got up at

Embargo Dbq
President Obama addressed the situation and policies between Cuba and the United States in his State
of the Union Address. In Cuba, we are ending a policy that was long past its expiration date. When
what you re doing doesn t work for fifty years, it s time to try something new. Our shift in Cuba policy
has the potential to end a legacy of mistrust in our hemisphere, removes a phony excuse for
restrictions in Cuba, stands up for democratic values, and extends the hand of friendship to the Cuban
people. And this year, Congress should begin the work of ending the embargo, the President said
regarding Cuba and the antiquated policies. The embargo is being lifted and Cuba will once again
have a good relationship with the United States. The United States has had a rocky relationship with
Cuba for the past fifty years. A series of events lead to the destruction of relations between the two
nations: the Cuban Revolution, the announcement of the embargo, the Bay of Pigs invasion, and the
Cuban Missile Crisis. The Revolution of Cuba in 1959 started the eventual demise of the trust between

Dred Scott V. Sandford was a lawsuit filed in 1846 by Dred Scott, an African American slave because
he wanted to gain freedom not only for himself but for his family. This case became a landmark legal
case in the United States history. Dred Scott was basically arguing that because his owner had taken
him into a free state where African Americans were free. The United states Supreme court said that
since he was a slave now he could not become free. Slaves were not considered as United States
citizens and since he was a slave he could not sue in federal court. The decision started a lot anger in
Americans and this pushed the country towards civil war. Dred Scott V. Sandford was a very unfair,
racial court case. On March 6, 1875 people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Spinal Cord Injury ( Sci )
Introduction
Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) can result in loss or permanent damage of motor, sensory or autonomic
function, generally caused by physical trauma to the spinal cord. In humans the most common type of
SCI is hemisection or contusion (Nandoe Tewarie et al. 2009). This incomplete injury, leads to
swelling or compression of the spinal cord due to bone displacement, resulting in partial loss of
function and/or sensation. Complete severing of the spinal cord fibres can occur, although less often,
and results in impairment of all function and sensation below the trauma site (Sobani et al. 2010). Due
to the complicated physiology of the spinal cord and central nervous system, and their diminished
regenerative properties, currently, there have been no effective forms of treatment of SCI.
SCI occurs in two stages. The primary stage being the physical injury itself causing damage to the
spinal cord, resulting in bruising, a possible demyelination of axons, cell apoptosis as well as
subsequent hemorrhaging at the injury site (Inukai et al. 2009). The secondary stage involves
exacerbation of the damage via initiation of the body s inflammatory response. Immediately following
injury, pro inflammatory cytokines; interleukin beta (IL β) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) are
released from both neighboring and damaged cells, resulting in an up regulation of the inflammatory
response, resulting in cyst formation. These cysts are left behind post inflammation and hamper
recovery

An Analysis Of The Play Sure Things By Davis Ives
Sure Things by Davis Ives Analysis
In 1988 David Ives created Sure Things a short play One act comedy where he explores many
possibilities of a common social daily life situation; dating. With only two characters, Betty and Bill,
common names for common people and with fine humor and critic vision, using a peculiar and
functional language the author reveals in many ways how this every day activity can have a different
outcome, depending in the moment, chosen words, characters mood, personality and intention.
In spite of being One Act short play Sure Things has all elements a plot or play should have. The
setting is a café, and the first scene describes the characters as Betty, a woman in her late twenties, is
reading at a café table. An empty chair is opposite her. Bill, same age, enters. (Kennedy, Goia 1187).

Grief, Loss, and Everything Josh Kos would Floss (this is not the actual title)
Grief and loss are some of the most defining characteristics of the human experience. Therefore,
dealing with grief and loss is one of the most important things humans must learn. While there are
many approaches, Jennifer Kent uses her film The Babadook to suggest that suppression is not a
healthy way to deal with grief. By thoughtfully planning the mise en scene, soundtrack, and narrative
storytelling, Kent teaches viewers that suppression causes the inner monster to come out in all of us,
just as it did to Amelia in The Babadook.
In The Babadook, suppression of grief is at the root of all of Amelia s personal problems. Suppressing
her grief resulted in her becoming isolated from everyone around her, from her co worker Robby, her
sister Claire, to even her son Sam. Because she was so wrapped up in suppressing memories of her
husband, Amelia lost touch with the living world, and is left in an awkward limbo between her past
and her present. Once the Babadook is unleashed, suppression of grief leads to paranoia for Amelia.
As she continues to have visions, Amelia is trapped in a different limbo between reality and inside her
mind, and as she continues to suppress her grief, her situation becomes progressively worse.
Amelia s house and the tree across the street from Amelia s house are important motifs throughout The
Babadook. However, while trees and

Importance Of Family Relationships
The connection of various individual by marriage, blood, etc are considered as family relationships.
Moreover, these connections are considered to be the most important building block for the
comprehensive development of individuals in our society. Family relationships, whether they may be
harmonious or disruptive, serves as an important driving force for all individuals interactions in the
outside world. While, these relationships may either be destructive or harmonious, they promote the
transmission of good behaviours, cultural influences and other specific ways of life from the older to
the younger members of the family unit. Harmonious relationships are more pleasing and consistently
allows members of the family to feel more comfortable. Also, a strong bond is formed among the
family members. On the other hand, destructive family relationships builds and maintain tension
between the individuals, which ultimately prevents the proper transfer of good values and attitudes to
the members. This type of relationship can be directly attributed to the future problems faced by
individuals nurtured by the a disruptive family. In Two Kind by Amy Tan and Story of the Hour by
Kate Chopin, family relationships plays an important role in the outcome of an individual in both
positive and negative manner.

Masked Identity In Watchman s Watchmen
The story of Watchmen brings into question what it means to be a hero. The comic creates a world
where masked vigilantes aren t necessarily the forces for good that American culture presumes them to
be. The heroes of Watchmen are morally questionable and often don t do what most would consider
right. Often, these vigilantes create their identities, at least partly, for reasons other than just protecting
others. This includes using their identities as a way to wrestle with their feelings on sex and their own
sexualities. Masked identity is used as a form of sexual expression in Watchmen. It can be used for
either expressing revulsion towards sex or as a way of fulfilling the needs of a character s repressed
sexuality. Rorschach is perhaps the most extreme example of a vigilante who uses his masked identity

Vampire stories have universal themes that provide the backbone for every dark tale. The unholy
essence that any vampire story provides sets the stage for the message that the Church is the way of

themes of the classic vampire story. The common religious theme is the abscess of light is the absence
of holiness and is the path to eternal damnation. Darkness is the prime universal fear of humanity
mostly because we, as a species, are not nocturnal creatures; therefore, we have developed a fear of

The cross burned into his flesh like a hot coal. He snatched back his hand but the burning metal clung.
He felt the heat of it coursing up his arm, and hurled it savagely across the room (Miller). This burning

something that does not follow the way of the cross will be burned eternally in Hell. Vampire
protection is the Church s way of creating fear that will ultimately lead to the fearful turning back to
the Church for protection and guidance. With the turn of sexual culture in the Victorian Era, Church
leaders needed to establish a way to regain a tight grip on society as a whole.
Comparable themes in vampire stories and Biblical stories are evident within the class readings. The
story of Shambleau by Catherine L. Moore begins with a mob on the hunt for a creature by the name

The Absolute Ego
During this paper I will discuss Fichte s ideas on the absolute ego and how it pertains to the idea of
God. I will also discus the similarities and also the differences between Fichte and Smakra as outlined
by Lewis. I will then conclude with my remarks and thoughts upon the subject matter.
Fichte was an idealist. This is the belief that nothing is known to us except ideas. Since this was the
belief of Fichte he avoided dualism and instead believed that only that which is in and for
consciousness can be assumed to exist. Fichte thus proceeded to explain experience as the product of
intelligence in itself. This idea of intelligence in itself is the ego. To understand this further we must
think the wall , once you think the wall then think of the person who thought the wall, and thus you
could go on indefinitely. This shows that no matter how we try to objectify the self there always
remains the pure ego. Furthermore, all can intellectually intuit the pure ego. This is further explained
that anyone who is conscious of an action as his own is aware of himself acting. Once someone
recognizes that an action is their own, the person is able to reflect on their self consciousness and will
realize that they can intuit the pure ego as an infinite activity. The pure ego itself is not conscious; the
pure ego becomes conscious through the philosophers activity directed towards the pure ego as an
activity. Once this occurs the pure ego posits itself. This pure ego is

The introduction of Diana is first in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice , however it is not crucial to

of promoting female empowerment is somewhat debatable because although the cast is primarily
women and directed by a woman, there is a sort of forced sensuality portrayed throughout the film to
try to make others enjoy watching the film. Josiphine Livingstone a writer for new republic magazine
agrees when she writes ... Wonder Woman explained to those children huddled with me that political

because the movie is not forcing values and their presentation on you, the movie represents the idea
that war is not everything. The moral of the movie is not just Diana and how she looks or dresses, it s
about her heart and her purpose.
Diana is also portrayed as dumb throughout the movie because of the isolation on the island where she
grew up. She has to be escorted everywhere, and have things explained to her. However, that was
appropriate for that time period because women were thought of as severely inferior to the other

  • 2. The William T. Travis Building in Austin, Texas Most people don t know where it is. Most people have never seen it. Most people have never even heard of it. Despite this, the William B. Travis Building in Austin, Texas is where American history is made. Correction, this is where the events and memories of the present and near past get wedged into America s long term cultural memory or slip into oblivion. Since Texas buys or distributes 48 million textbooks annually, educational publishers tailor their products to fit the standards adopted by the Lone Star State. This makes the Texas state board of education, which is housed in the William B. Travis Building, the most influential state board of education in America. Every year this board draws national attention when it meets to adopt or reject proposed changes to the social studies curriculum, which are guidelines that will affect children across America for the next 10 years. In 2010, the most fiercely debated proposal was bringing Christianity into the coverage of American history. More specifically bringing the Christian truth about America s founding into public schools. However, this debate has been going on since the early nineteenth century. People have always questioned how to reconcile the idea of America as a Christian nation with that of America as a beacon for religious freedom. To answer this question for ourselves, we must understand religious life in colonial America, religion in the Constitution and the debate surrounding Jefferson s Wall of Separation ... • 3. Sally Asimov Sally is a fictional story written in 1953 by Isaac Asimov about driverless cars that are capable of communicating. The story relates to the vehicles of today and the news articles of today. Both stories, Sally and the Newsela article, talk about driverless and cars that communicate with other cars, but only the Newsela article is based off of real life. The Newsela article talks about how new cars are able to communicate with each other, and how they tell each other about obstacles and other things on the road. Sally talks about cars that drive by themselves and how the cars communicate with each other. V2V will provide 360 degree situational awareness on the road, (Lowy) A positronic brain can react much faster than a human one, of course, and it paid people to keep hands off the controls. Page 3. • 4. Argumentative Essay On Tupac Death Tupac Shakur was born on June 16, 1971 until 25 years ago had disappeared from his fans, and family members. Tupac Shakur was also known as 2Pac, selling over 75 million records worldwide, also bestselling, and influential rappers of all times. On September 7, 1996, Shakur was fatally shot in drive by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was taken to Southern Nevada hospital where he passed six days later. According to the coroner s report, Shakur was 6 feet and weighed 215 pounds, but he actually was 5.10 and weighted 165 pounds. Many say no one really saw Tupac in the hospital at all, so there was no autopsy. Legally an autopsy is required to be taken right after death has occurred. Multiple stories upon Tupac s disappearance has cause many in confusion and disappointment. Many confusion had lead that Tupac was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance. Also, during an interview Suge Knight states that he took Tupac to the hospital himself rather than anyone else. • 5. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Matching System 3.4 Evaluation As a basis for this logical framework first order logic can be used. For evaluation stratification can also be applied. It is a bottom up evaluation phenomenon. For evaluating matching rules there is need to have a hold on aggregation operations. To find the best match first compute all possible matches with their matching confidence. 4 Challenges There are mainly three drawbacks of rule based techniques: 1. They cannot utilize data instances efficiently even though they conceal ample amount of information like distribution, value format, frequency of words, and so on that would help in matching process. 2. In some cases writing matching rules is very difficult due to incomplete information while in learning based approach using appropriate learning methods such as Naïve Bayes make probabilistic rules which can be done easily. 3. It cannot exploit previous matching efforts to serve the current matchings. Hence, systems that uses only rule based techniques face difficulties learning from the past, to improve over time. Due to these reasons learning approach is developed and followed. 5 Opportunities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A new self configuring and adaptive schema matching system has been proposed. It uses a combination of schema and matrix features as well as different matching rules to construct and adapt matching processes automatically. This framework offers some advantages like: correct methods for dealing with schemas that are semantically rich like ontologies; extensible matchers; and semi automated derivation of the rules that are constructed for matching based on already mapped sources like identifying constraints, synonyms etc. For diverse match problems this approach returns good results as well as it is a good competitor of manually tuned approaches. • 6. Rugby Team Reflection Since the spring of my sophomore year, I have been tasked with leading a true motley crew. By others this crew is called the Edina Rugby Club; however, I think of each and every one one of these young men as brothers. Without the sport of rugby, I would not have had the great fortune of meeting so many teammates of different distinctive personalities, backgrounds and ethnicity. There are kids from the high school band to the math club to the varsity football team who make up this crew. Given the responsibility to lead these young men, I have grown as a teammate and also as a human being. I have developed the ability to respect everyone, regardless of who they are, where they are from, and what they believe in. I learn from these young men and let them teach me different things about each of their cultures that without rugby I might never have learned. When I consider each teammate, despite different ethnicities and backgrounds, I see that they are no different than me. I have learned to respect people not for where they come from or what they believe in, but for who they are and how they conduct themselves as a young man. With that being said, I still have the utmost respect for each individual s personal beliefs and history. However, as a leader I feel that if we can get by the stereotypical norms of categorizing people we will find ourselves not only having greater success as leaders but as a society as a whole. Ultimately, those who lead are responsible for teaching the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Milken Dance Experience Essay Towards the end of this past summer I attended the Milken Dance Intensives and discovered a new passion for dance. I loved it so much that I decided to try out for the team. I practiced the dances and the techniques that the teacher taught me until the first day of tryouts. I went into tryouts scared of the new dance our teacher would be teaching us and feeling intimidated by the more advanced dancers. I felt nervous that I wouldn t get a position on the team because there were so many people trying out. When I went home that night I wondered if everyone who came to this tryout would come to the next, if I would get on the team, and when he would send the video of the dance so that I could practice it. Being examined more carefully was extremely stressful. The judges were able to see my every step. My heart started racing as the music started. There was no turning back now. Everything I worked for reflected on this moment. All my worries washed away as I took the first step. I was halfway done with the dance. The hardest part was coming up. Leap, turn, place my leg carefully so that I could land in the perfect way. Heart thumping, anxiety coming back. As I was in the air I moved my leg so that I could land perfectly and all of a sudden I fell. I messed up but had to continue. I felt so embarrassed but I was very proud of all the work I had put into memorizing it. The dance was over. I messed up one time but I kept reminding myself that everybody messes up sometimes. I was afraid of the results that I would receive on Sunday. I woke up to an email that I had gotten onto the JV dance team along with my friends. I was ecstatic and so were my friends. The Sense Of Place By Jane Heaney Also emanating from the sectarian subject is Heaney s etymological study of Northern Ireland s landscape in order to transcend the contemporary political situation. In his lecture The Sense of Place given in 1977, Heaney explains that according to John Montague, the whole Irish landscape is a manuscript and Northern Ireland s history ensures an endless opportunity to treat the local landscape and its terminology as such. Originally, one language was spoken here; Gaelic Irish. However, resulting from plantations by English and Scottish settlers, Gaelic was infiltrated by their languages, thus creating three different dialects. Despite its high clinical variability, it is consistently characterized by three main elements: vascular alterations, autoimmunity and progressive fibrosis. However, there is increasing evidence that SSc pathogenesis is dominated by vascular changes, as demonstrated by numerous experimental and clinical studies (1). • 10. The Rising Price Of The American Social Contract Many of the protesters occupying Wall Street and other places say they are upset about the rising price of going to college. There is little dispute today that the number of students who have debt has increased, and that the amount of money they have borrowed has gone up (Billitteri). Many students incur large amounts of debt that will never pay dividends in higher wages or greater job satisfaction, and they graduate into a world with weak employment prospects. It s a betrayal of the American social contract that says if you work hard and invest in yourself through education, you ll be able to build a better life. In the 1980s it covered about half; in the 1970s it covered more than 70 percent. (Abramson). The reality is that for young people today, it is harder to educate one s way into the middle class, and college costs are leaving many in this generation without the credentials they need to thrive in the 21st century economy. One radical solution that recently has been proposed is that the federal government should completely cancel student loan debt to stimulate the economy (Caffentzis, 31). However, history has shown that in the case of tax rebate checks, people tend to spend any rebates to pay off other existing debt, or they simply save them. This does little to stimulate the economy, and one suspects that the same would happen with across the board loan forgiveness (_Harris_). However, there are several measures that can be taken to make college more affordable. Let s start with the student loan and grant system. The government should increase the number of need based Pell Grants awarded to students, but there should also be more grant money given to the students willing to chose a cheaper public college or start their academic career by attending community college. Most colleges would consequently want to keep their tuition costs low to remain attractive to prospective students. This goes hand in hand with the fact that administration ... Some of the most analyzed aspects of emotion and the life, by literary greats throughout the past several centuries, have been the issue of death and the physical, spiritual, and emotional attachments that can be defined as love. Even though writers of prose and poetry have long belabored these two specific areas of discussion, the depth and diversity in approach is something that can only be described with regards to the differential between personalities and the world you of the author in question. Accordingly, the following analysis will be concentric upon discussing and analyzing the approach and understanding of love that two specific poets exhibit within their respective work. Instead, the author focuses a great deal of energy on examining the fact that even though the time to act is now and an urgency, tension, and immediacy defines the love and passion that the subject has for the Mistress, a deeper and more profound realization of what defines love and the eternity of passion and interest that the subject could direct for this Mistress if only she opened her heart and her body to the subject is reflected in a variety of different ways. For instance, after the exhortation to stop dismissing the advances of the suitor, Marvell references the fact that in so doing the woman would be able to experience love as she had never before seen it. Ultimately, what is presented to the reader is an argument for the immediacy, passion, and necessity to experience love in the moment. However, due to the fact that a woman would likely find the emotion of immediacy and the need to seize the day as alarming and definitive of a passing craze or crush, the poetry goes to great lengths to prove that the nature of the emotions that are being defined are not short lived but will instead last for far longer than life itself is able to exist. Racial equality should be something that we strive to achieve in our country. Inequalities based on gender, race, and social characteristics are unfair and an issue we the people can change. Along with workplace discrimination , we have race pay gaps as well. I believe the wage gap comes from greed , we have come so far as a country that this should not be an issue anymore. Wages in America are the primary source of income for out people. There are many factors to why there are wage gaps, lack of education, family issues and of course discrimination. According to the Pew Research Center, white men earn more money than Hispanics, African Americans and women. Marcus Credé and Nathan R. Kuncel (2008) in their research at the University of Albany said that Study habit, skill, and attitude inventories and constructs were found to rival standardized tests and previous grades as predictors of academic performance, yielding substantial incremental validity in predicting academic performance. The meta analysis examined the construct validity and predictive validity of 10 study skill constructs for college students. They found that study skill inventories and constructs are largely independent of both high school grades and scores on standardized admissions tests but moderately related to various personality constructs; these results were inconsistent with previous theories. Study motivation and study skills exhibit the strongest relationships with both grade point average and grades in individual classes. They also said that Academic specific anxiety was found to be an important negative predictor of performance. In addition, significant variation in the validity of specific inventories is shown. Lord Of The Flies By William Golding Naz Usman Lord of the Flies William Golding Summer Essay In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, one of the scenes that I think is central to the development of the story is when Ralph and Piggy discover the conch shell on the beach and use it to summon the boys together after the crash. This scene has great importance to the plot of the story considering it was the first time the boys held a meeting and discussed their situation. They came up with a system that would eliminate chaos. For example, in their very first meeting, they voted on a chief, choosing Ralph over Jack because he was the one with the conch. How Does Golding Use Symbols In Lord Of The Flies Symbolism in The Lord of The Flies It is impossible to read William Golding s novel, The Lord of the Flies, without noticing the symbolism that was present. A symbol can be a person, place, or thing that represents something more than its literal meaning (Telgen 15) From butterflies to actual characters, you could sense that this book contained symbolism. Although Lord of the Flies appears on the surface to be a mere story about children abandoned on an island, William Golding uses symbolism to convey a deeper meaning. This novel had many accounts of symbolism. It also captured the keen interest of their instructors in debating the merits and defeats of different characters and the hunting down of literary sources and deeper symbolic meanings in the story (Telgen 2). Most of the events, characters, and objects had symbolic meanings. His narrative style has an unusual lucidity and vitality because he never forgets the concrete in his search for symbolic action (Cox 2). The Spinal Cord Injury ( Sci ) Introduction Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) can result in loss or permanent damage of motor, sensory or autonomic function, generally caused by physical trauma to the spinal cord. In humans the most common type of SCI is hemisection or contusion (Nandoe Tewarie et al. 2009). This incomplete injury, leads to swelling or compression of the spinal cord due to bone displacement, resulting in partial loss of function and/or sensation. Complete severing of the spinal cord fibres can occur, although less often, and results in impairment of all function and sensation below the trauma site (Sobani et al. 2010). Due to the complicated physiology of the spinal cord and central nervous system, and their diminished regenerative properties, currently, there have been no effective forms of treatment of SCI. SCI occurs in two stages. The primary stage being the physical injury itself causing damage to the spinal cord, resulting in bruising, a possible demyelination of axons, cell apoptosis as well as subsequent hemorrhaging at the injury site (Inukai et al. 2009). The secondary stage involves exacerbation of the damage via initiation of the body s inflammatory response. • 35. The Absolute Ego During this paper I will discuss Fichte s ideas on the absolute ego and how it pertains to the idea of God. I will also discus the similarities and also the differences between Fichte and Smakra as outlined by Lewis. I will then conclude with my remarks and thoughts upon the subject matter. Fichte was an idealist. This is the belief that nothing is known to us except ideas. Since this was the belief of Fichte he avoided dualism and instead believed that only that which is in and for consciousness can be assumed to exist. Fichte thus proceeded to explain experience as the product of intelligence in itself. This idea of intelligence in itself is the ego. To understand this further we must think the wall , once you think the wall then think of the person who thought the wall, and thus you could go on indefinitely. This shows that no matter how we try to objectify the self there always remains the pure ego. Furthermore, all can intellectually intuit the pure ego. This is further explained that anyone who is conscious of an action as his own is aware of himself acting. Once someone recognizes that an action is their own, the person is able to reflect on their self consciousness and will realize that they can intuit the pure ego as an infinite activity. The pure ego itself is not conscious; the pure ego becomes conscious through the philosophers activity directed towards the pure ego as an activity. Once this occurs the pure ego posits itself. This pure ego is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wonder Woman is an action packed thriller about peace, love and empowerment. Appropriate for most ages, Wonder Woman is able to please a plethora of ages and interests. The introduction of Diana is first in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice , however it is not crucial to the plot of Wonder Woman , but there are several references to the relationship between Diana Prince and Bruce Wayne. Later in the film Woman are armor clad, but with few other clothing. The prospect of promoting female empowerment is somewhat debatable because although the cast is primarily women and directed by a woman, there is a sort of forced sensuality portrayed throughout the film to try to make others enjoy watching the film. Josiphine Livingstone a writer for new republic magazine agrees when she writes ... Wonder Woman explained to those children huddled with me that political morality has an aesthetic and a sexuality. However, she also writes Beauty, strength, goodness, bravery: These are your values, and here is how your values must look. With which I don t agree because the movie is not forcing values and their presentation on you, the movie represents the idea that war is not everything. The moral of the movie is not just Diana and how she looks or dresses, it s about her heart and her purpose. Diana is also portrayed as dumb throughout the movie because of the isolation on the island where she grew up. She has to be escorted everywhere, and have things explained to her.
