Abstract: The research work focused on the contributions of information and communication technology to the growth and development of banking activities in Nigeria. The research work tried to identify and to assess the extent of the use of Information Technology in First Bank of Nigeria and seek to find out what impact as a whole does Information Technology have on banking operations. Questionnaires were generated, distributed and result analyzed using statistical data. The findings of this study reveal that a positive correlation exists between ICT and banks profitability in Nigeria. This implies that a marginal change in the level of the investment and adoption of ICT in the banking industry will result to a proportionate increase in the profit level. This is confirmed by the level of the regression coefficient as well as the factor analysis which revealed that an insignificant size of profit exist without the introduction of the ICT. The results in Table a, b and c show that banks that have a high level of ICT will make intensive use of production and efficiency practices such as business re-engineering, outsourcing and flexible work arrangements which will yield the best performance. Impact of Information Technology on Performance of Banks in NigeriaAJHSSR Journal
Over the last two decades, the Nigerian banking sector has witnessed some upsurge in the use
of technology for service delivery. However, concerns have been expressed as to whether cost and other
challenges of adopting information technology can be justified by performance. Accordingly, this study sought
to examine the relationship between different e-banking channels and the profitability of organisations in
Nigeria. Four e-banking channels,(automatic teller machines, point of sales, internet banking transactions and
electronic mobile banking) were identified and regressed against return on equity (ROE) of Deposit Money
Banks operating in Nigeria between 2006 and 2016. A panel data regression model was formulated and tested
using the generalized method of moment approach. The result revealed that the overall impact of electronic
banking on profitability of Deposit Money Banks operating in Nigeria was significant and positive. The study
recommends that critical stakeholders and beneficiaries of electronic banking – the government, regulatory
authorities and the banks should collaborate to put in place an enabling operating environment and an effective
regulatory framework to bring about optimal deployment of these services to customers

The Impact of Information Technology on Business Transformation in the Operat...IJMIT JOURNAL
The study aims at measuring the effects of information technology on the transformation of businesses in communication companies in Jordan. The study population consisted of companies' directors as well as their deputies, assistants, advisors, in addition to department managers and their assistants. The total number of the study subjects is 3 designated communication companies in Jordan; these are: Zain, Umniah, and Orange. To achieve the aim of the study, the researcher had prepared a questionnaire which comprises of 45 items covering the three factors of the independent variable (Information Technology): infrastructure, developmental environment, and executive support systems and applications, as well as the three factors of the dependent variable (Transformation of Businesses): operations, organization change, and workers' competence. In order to test the hypotheses, the following three criteria were adequately used: The Medians, the Standard Deviations, as well as the Regression Analysis. The study has reached a number of results; the most notable amongst these results is that there is a positive effect that is statistically significant of information technology on the elements of business transformation in Jordanian communication companies and all of their relating elements.
The last decade of the twentieth century and the turn of twenty-first century witnessed significant progress in technology in general and information technology and communication in particular. Such progress still continues until today, accelerating with wide quick strides more than ever. This age has produced many mechanisms for manufacturing knowledge and more advanced technological means that have made the globe as a small village. Communication technology, which is represented by the internet, has played a huge rule in transferring information and technological revolution from the north to the south passing by the east and the west at the same time. All of that have had an impact on all political, economic, educational, teaching, social, media, and advertisement systems in all communities.
The term technology is derived from Greek. It consists of two parts, techno, which means skills or art, and logy, which means science or study. Thus, the word technology means the science of performance, science of implementation, or the technical methods to achieve a practical purpose, the science of industrial operation.

As information technology is the modern trend on banking today, its very imperative for banks to access its impact operational performance so as to justify if the capital invested on it is Justifiable or not, analyze their problem and profit possible solutions. The objective of this research is to examine how the adoption of information technology affects the operations of commercial banks and the impact of information technology on banks and customer relationship. The main research instruments used are questionnaire from staffs and customers of the bank,156 questionnaire were distributed and 150 questionnaire were administered. The simple frequency percentage was adopted as the statistical measure and hypothesis testing was analyzed using chi square statistical tool, at 0.05 level of significance to show whether they should be upheld or rejected. The results of this research affirmed that there is significant relationship between management disposition and the utilization of information technology by banks in Nigeria. In conclusion, the study reward that information technology has tremendously improved growth and performance of the Nigeria commercial banks. Information technology has lead to increase customer satisfaction, improved operational efficiency, reduced transaction time, and gives the bank a competitive edge. The study recommends that every bank in Nigeria should not only invest heavily on IT especially the point of sales POS , but should distribute same to business outlets where business owners and customers will have access to smooth and hassle free transactions. It is therefore necessary for the government to emphasize the need for more policies that will boost the efficiency in utilization of IT equipment by reducing the cost of acquiring them so as to reduce cost and boost the growth of the economy. Consequently, it is hereby suggested that further studies be carried out on the impact of Information Technology on development finance institutions. Olaitan S. K | Arijeniwa O. Decision Making and Autonomic ComputingIOSR Journals
Abstract: Autonomic Computing refers to the self-managing characteristics of distributed computing
resources, adapting to unpredictable changes while hiding intrinsic complexity to operators and users.
An autonomic system makes decisions on its own, using high-level policies; it will constantly check and
optimize its status and automatically adapt itself to changing conditions. As widely reported in literature, an
autonomic computing framework might be seen composed by autonomic components interacting with each
other.
An Autonomic Computing can be modeled in terms of two main control loops (local and global) with
sensors (for self-monitoring), effectors (for self-adjustment), knowledge and planner/adapter for exploiting
policies based on self- and environment awareness.
The goal of autonomic computing is to create systems that run themselves, capable of high-level functioning
while keeping the system's complexity invisible to the user.
General Terms: Autonomic systems, Self-configuration, Self-healing, Self-optimization, Self-protection.
Keywords: Know itself, reconfigure, recover from extraordinary events, expert in self-protection,
Crashing is the procedure by which project duration can be shorten up by expediting selective
activities with in the project. But it requires allocating more resources than usual to compress an activity’s
duration, which in turns increases the budget of that activity. So, crashing is basically a time-cost trade-off by
which specific deadline can be achieved. The traditional method of crashing only considers average activity
times for the calculation of the critical path, ignoring the stochastic nature of activity time. This report is written
to develop an algorithm for optimum crashing method to minimize the required cost while attaining a specified
completion time.
Design of Ball Screw Mechanism for Retro Fit of External Grinding MachineIOSR Journals
Abstract: To convert the existing grinding machine into a good working machine, a ball screw mechanism is
designed and incorporated in the existing grinding machine by retrofitting process. Grinding machine removes
material from the work piece by abrasion, which can generate substantial amount of heat. Therefore a coolant
System is incorporated to cool the work piece, so that it does not overheat and go out of its tolerance. Grinding
practice is a large and diverse area of manufacturing and tool making. It can also rough out large volume of
metal quite rapidly. It is usually better suited to the machining of hard materials. Cylindrical grinding is also
called center type grinding. It is used in the removing the cylindrical surface and shoulders of the work piece.
The five type of cylindrical grinding are outside diameter (OD) grinding. Inside diameter (ID) grinding, plunge
grinding, creep feed grinding and center less grinding. It is used in the industries for grinding the nozzle body.
The grinding machine can be changed to automatic machine according to one of the latest technologies called
PLC’s controller. The manually operated grinding machine has some of the in-accuracies and disadvantages
compared to new modern CNC grinding machines.Based on the case study of both manual and CNC grinding
machine, the manual machine is converted into automatic machine for the better accuracy and efficiency. The
main replacement of the machine parts are hydraulic cylinder and stepper motor by ball screw mechanisms and
servo motor.
Non Revenue Water Reduction- A Tool for Achiving 24x7 Water SupplyIOSR Journals
The availability of water at cheaper rates promotes the wasteful use of water. People give little or no
attention towards conservation of water. For sustenance of any water supply scheme it is essential that

there is major portion of Non Revenue Water (NRW) in the developing countries and there is urgent need to
curb it for efficient functioning of water supply schemes
Supplier ranking and selection in a bakeryIOSR Journals
Supplier evaluation and selection is a fundamental problem in supply chain management. Many
companies may not know how to evaluate proposed suppliers to integrate the different criteria upon which they
want to make their decision. A number of techniques have been employed to solve this problem but were not
able tosufficiently incorporate qualitative criteria into consideration for estimation of their alternatives.
A multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methodology, the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), which takes
into consideration both quantitative and qualitative criteria, was used to evaluate three suppliers of improvers
(a major ingredient) for bread production in a bakery,UIB, in southwest Nigeria. This method uses a ranking
scale when comparing alternatives. A consistency ratio is estimated when data have been collected to check for
the consistency of judgments to ensure an accurate result is obtained with the method.
It was discovered that Supplier C adds more value to UIB because it had the highest priority weight of 0.346,
although it was keenly followed by suppliers B and C with weights 0.336 and 0.317 respectively.
Results showed that each supplier fared well under one criteria or the other and there was a generally
good performance from all suppliers.
The Study of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System at University Road Peshawar, Paki...IOSR Journals
The paper is part of an ongoing research project on traffic management strategies for Peshawar
Pakistan. A survey of all the existing public transport stops on University Road Peshawar conducted for
identification of bus lane. Peak hour demand was calculated in terms of actual Passengers per hour per
direction (Pphpd)along the entire corridor which acts a warrant test for the provision of a separate lane for
public transport vehicles in Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System. Saturation Levelsand Dwell Times (sec)at every
stop both for busses and for wagons usingfrequency, clearance time, amount of boarding and alighting
passengers and journey time of existing public transport system were analyzed. From data analysis,
theSaturation Levels and Dwell Times at every stop were found higher than the recommended values mainly
because of the obstruction due to private vehicles in front of public transport vehicles,a comparatively high
percentage of private vehicles with respect to public transport vehicles and the prolong stay of drivers atbus
stops. The Saturation Levels and Dwell Times (sec) for the proposed BRT system was re-analyzed. Finally,
result of the proposed BRT system was incorporated in S-Paramics software to develop a public transport
model.
Application of Langmuir-Hinshelwood Model to Bioregeneration of Activated Car...IOSR Journals
Environmental pollution, high cost and high energy consumption associated with thermal regeneration of activated carbon polluted with hydrocarbon necessitated the search for a better way of regenerating activated carbon, bioregeneration. Spent granular activated carbon was regenerated having been initially characterized using cultured Pseudomonas Putida. The rate of bioregeneration was studied by varying the volume of bacteria from 10ml, 20ml, 30ml and 40ml. The regeneration temperature was also varied from 25oC to ambient temperature of 27oC, 35oC and further at 40 and 45oC over a period of 21 days. The experimental results showed clear correlation when validated using the Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic model. The experiment at ambient temperature showed a negative correlation due to the fluctuation in the ambient temperature unlike all other experiment where temperature was controlled in an autoclave machine.
Parametric Optimization of Eicher 11.10 Chassis Frame for Weight Reduction Us...IOSR Journals
Abstract: The chassis serves as a backbone for supporting the body and different parts of the automobile. It
should be rigid enough to withstand the shock, twist, vibration and other stresses. Along with strength, an
important consideration in chassis design is to have adequate bending stiffness. The main objective of the
research is to obtain the minimum weight of Eicher 11.10 chassis frame. The chassis frame is made of two side
members joined with a series of cross members. The number of cross members, their locations, cross-section
and the sizes of the side and the cross members becomes the design variables. The chassis frame model is to be
developed in Solid works and analyzed using Ansys. Since the no. of parameters and levels are more, the
probable models are too many. So, to select optimum parameters among them large no of modeling and analysis
work is involved which consumes more time. To overcome this problem TAGUCHI method along with FEA is
use. The weight reduction of the side bar is achieved by changing the Parameters using orthogonal array. Then
FEA is performed on those models to get the best solution. This method can save material used, production cost
and time.

The findings of the study indicate that everyone mentioned factors within the projected model (CNV, SE, QI, AW, PEU, PU) have important impact at intervals prompting the employment of net banking systems. The information analysis relies on the applied mathematics Package for scientific discipline (SPSS).
E-BANKING IMPLEMENTATION AND TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTANCE IN THE RAFIDAIN AND RASHEE...Hosam alden
n the third millennium, e-banking system has been adopted globally in the banking industry. On the other hand, Iraq as a nation with less developed IT adoption has not integrated this system in its banking services, instead of its current acknowledgement on the advantages of ebanking technology in competition among banking service providers. In
contrast, Iraqi banks still keep on adopting traditional banking system to
deliver the majority of their services which in this case are paper-based
work system. This is greatly resulted from the hesitation of bank
employees to adopt new banking technologies. This study aims to
identify the impact of hypothesis between e-banking system and Iraqi

hypothesis analysis reveals that there is a significant impact among all
variables to attitude, but Perceived Ease of Use, it does not apply variable
from those analysis it is depicted that Perceived Ease of Use does not impact to the perception of the implementation of e-banking system in Iraqi banks.

Abstract: Internet banking allows banks to provide information and offer services to their customers conveniently using the internet technology. However, studies have shown that customers have perceptions that impact on the uptake and continuous usage of the platform. The purpose of this study is to understand the effect of customer perceptions on usage of internet banking in commercial banks in Kenya. This study used descriptive research design while a stratified random sampling technique was used to select subjects to represent the target population which was made up of 1,837,312 customers of commercial banks within Nairobi County. An estimated 384 respondents were targeted to participate in the study. 272 questionnaires representing a 71% response rate were received and analysed. Based on the findings of the research it was concluded that customers have perception that have an effect on usage of internet banking, Customer still feel that internet access fees and internet banking transaction charges are high. Costly internet access and unreasonable pricing of internet banking transactions, hinders usage of the internet and by extension technological solutions offered by commercial banks such as internet banking. Commercial banks can relook into the issue of subsidizing the monthly internet banking maintenance fee so as to attract more users and continued usage.

A study on banker's perception of electronic bankingRAVICHANDIRANG
Information and communication technologies have changed the working of the banking industry in the last few years. The
transformation is expected to quicken their pace in the coming years. The trend towards electronic delivery of products and
services is dramatically changing in the financial service industry, where the shift is partly as a result of consumer demand
but also a ruthless competitive environment. The present paper is an attempt to understand the use and benefits of e-Banking
from Bankers’ perspectives. This paper is the outcome of an empirical study with the objective of investigating bankers’
views regarding e-banking. It covers bankers’ perspectives on e-banking activities of respondents, impact of e-banking and
promotional measures used by banks to promote e-banking. The customers generally use e-Banking services on persuasion of
bankers. The bankers are convinced that e-banking helps in improving the relationship between bankers and customers and
that it will bring patent improvement in the overall performance of banks. So far as promotional avenues are concerned,
print media is at the top. The sources used from secondary level of data.
Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.

Abstract: The research work focused on the contributions of information and communication technology to the
growth and development of banking activities in Nigeria. The research work tried to identify and to assess the
extent of the use of Information Technology in First Bank of Nigeria and seek to find out what impact as a whole
does Information Technology have on banking operations. Questionnaires were generated, distributed and
result analyzed using statistical data. The findings of this study reveal that a positive correlation exists between
ICT and banks profitability in Nigeria. This implies that a marginal change in the level of the investment and
adoption of ICT in the banking industry will result to a proportionate increase in the profit level. This is
confirmed by the level of the regression coefficient as well as the factor analysis which revealed that an
insignificant size of profit exist without the introduction of the ICT. The results in Table a, b and c show that
banks that have a high level of ICT will make intensive use of production and efficiency practices such as
business re-engineering, outsourcing and flexible work arrangements which will yield the best performance.

I. Introduction
From time immemorial, Information has always played a prominent role in human life but the
emergence of social progress and the vigorous development in science and technology has immeasurably
increased the role of information in every facet of human endeavor. The rapid expansion of a mass of diversified
information has born the term “information explosion” and gave rise to a scientific approach in information and
elucidation of its most characteristic properties which has led to principal changes in interpretation of the
concept of information [3][4][7]. It was broadened to include information exchange not only among men but
also among machines as well as the exchange of signals in the animal and plant worlds. The pace of change
brought by new technologies has had a significant effect on the way people live, work, and play globally.
Today‟s business environment is very dynamic and experiences rapid changes as a result of creativity,
innovation, technological changes, increased awareness and demands from customers. Business organizations,
especially the banking industry of the 21st century operates in a complex and competitive environment
characterized by these changing conditions and highly unpredictable economic climate with Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) is at the centre of this global change curve [1][18][14][20][21]15]
Laudon and Laudon, (1991) contend that managers cannot ignore Information Systems because they
play a critical role in contemporary organization. They point out that the entire cash flow of most fortune 500
companies is linked to Information System. The application of information and communication technology
concept, techniques, policies and implementation strategies to banking services has become a subject of
fundamental importance and concerns to all banks and a prerequisite for local and global competitiveness. ICT
directly affects the various management functions of planning, organizing and the nature of services offered in
the banking industry. It has continuously changed the way banks organized their corporate relation worldwide
with the variety of innovative devices available to enhance the speed and quality of services delivery. Experts
contend that financial service providers should modify their traditional operating practice to remain viable in the
1990‟s and the decade beyond. Thus, ICT has emerged as a catalyst in the various industries of the world to aid
the process and procedure required to ensure the realization of various organizational goals [12] [10] [17] [16]
[8] [11]. The role of ICT in the banking sector became of interest to this study due to the significant role it plays
in the economy by stimulating economic growth through the intermediation of funds to economic agents that
need them for productive activities. This function is very vital for any economy that intends to experience
meaningful growth because it makes arrangements that bring borrowers and lenders of financial resource
together and more efficiently too than if they had to relate directly with one another [1] [17] [23][24][[20][19].
Hence, the objective of this study is to examine the role of information and communication technology in
ensuring efficient service delivery in the banking industry as a strategy for the actualization of the profit
maximization objectives of banks.

II. Statement Of The Problem
Banking environment has become highly competitive today. To be able to survive and grow in the
changing market environment banks are going for the latest technologies, which is being perceived as an
„enabling resource‟ that can help in developing learner and more flexible structure that can respond quickly to
the dynamics of a fast changing market scenario. It is also viewed as an instrument of cost reduction and
effective communication with people and institutions associated with the banking business. To this end various
papers, research works, seminars have been written and held to evaluate the role of Information Technology on
banking system. It is now increasingly being recognized that Information Technology enables sophisticated
product development, better market infrastructure, and implementation of reliable techniques for control of risks
and helps the financial intermediaries to reach geographically distant and diversified markets. Internet has
significantly influenced delivery channels of the banks. Internet has emerged as an important medium for
delivery of banking products and services. In the light of the foregoing, this research would attempts to examine
the contributions of Information and Communication Technology (with particular reference to First Bank of
Nigeria Plc) to the growth and development of banking activities in Nigeria.
III. Research Purpose
The central theme of this study is to examine the extent of the use of Information Technology by First Bank of
Nigeria in their day-to-day banking operations. Therefore, the objectives of this study shall be:
a. To identify and to assess the extent of the use of Information Technology in First Bank of Nigeria.
b. To identify the factors that may influence Information Technology use in First Bank of Nigeria.
IV. Relevant Research Questions
This paper shall be guided by the following research questions:
1. What impact as a whole does Information Technology have on banking operations?
2. What impact does each component of Information Technology have on banking operations?
3. What are the challenges facing the adoption of IT by First Bank of Nigeria?
V. Statement Of Hypothesis
In order to establish the nature of the relationship between the adoptions of IT by First Bank of Nigeria,
the hypothesis that would be tested in the course of this research is stated below as:
H01(a): There is no significant impact of information quality on first bank operational activities.
H02(a): There is no significant impact of system quality on first bank operational activities.
H03(a): There is no significant impact of perceived usefulness and ease of use of IT (PUEOUIT) on first bank
operational activities.
H04(a): There is no significant impact of trust on first bank operational activities.
H05(a): There is no significant impact of awareness on first bank operational activities.
VI. Scope Of The Study
IT is increasingly moving from a back office function to a prime assistant in increasing the value of a
bank over time. IT does so by maximizing banks of pro-active measures such as strengthening and
standardizing banks infrastructure in respect of security, communication and networking, achieving inter branch
connectivity, moving towards Real Time gross settlement (RTGS) environment the forecasting of liquidity by
building real time databases, use of Magnetic Ink Character Recognition and Imaging technology for cheque
clearing to name a few. This paper will not take into consideration how IT has facilitated services rendered by
all the Nigerian banks, but will focuses primarily on how IT has affected the services of First Bank of Nigeria.
VII. Significance Of The Research Problem
This study will explore the impact or influence of IT on banking operations. Though the scope of the
study will be limited to the First Bank Plc, it is hoped that the exploration of this technology will provide abroad
view of the areas in which IT has given First Bank Plc competitive advantage over its major competitors in the
banking industry. It will contribute to the existing literature on the subject matter by investigating through a
survey the role of IT in banking operations with particular reference to First Bank of Nigeria Plc.
VIII. Research Approach
The data collection instrument used was a structured questionnaire because questionnaires are
extremely flexible and could be used to gather information concerning almost any topic, from a large or small
number of people. It was adopted for adequately testing the hypothesis to establish the continuous relevance of a
theory. Five Points Scale ranging from strongly, disagree to strongly agree was used to measure the response of
all the interviews.
3. The Effects Of Information And Communication Technology To The Growth And Development Of
www.iosrjournals.org 76 | Page
IX. Research Strategy
Seventy (70) copies of the questionnaires were administered personally to Information Technology
support at the various First Bank Plc branches in the cluster. Out of these, forty-five responded indicating a
response rate of 64%.No questionnaire was sent by post or through the electronic mail. Of the forty –five
returned, four were discarded because they contained errors such as incomplete answers and inconsistence.
Forty-one (41) questionnaires were found suitable for the analysis. However, this study employed data from
both the secondary and primary sources. The secondary sources included textbooks, journals, news papers, and
the use of the internet. The primary source included the structured questionnaire administered in the course of
the study.
X. Research Methods
Analyses of data were carried out using simple percentage and regression analysis. In the analysis, First
Bank Operational activities were regressed against influential factors which are:
1) Information Quality; 2) System Quality; 3) Perceived Usefulness and Ease of Use of IT (PUEOUIT); 4) Trust
and; 5) Awareness
Thus, multiple regression analysis, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Likert Scale were the various
tools used in the study. In multiple regressions, the aim is to examine the nature of the relationship between a
given dependent variable and two or more independent variables. Thus multiple regression analysis, analysis of
variance (ANOVA) and Likert scale were the various tools used in this study to evaluate the impact of
Information Technology on banking operation with F-test utilized in determining level of significance. The
student t-test was used to test for level of significance of each individual factor. In multiple regressions, the
model describing the relationship between the dependent variable and a set of independent variables
can be expressed as:
Where:
n = the number of observations on both dependent and independent variables
are parameters referred to as regression coefficient.
e = independent and normally distributed random error term with mean Q and constant variance 2
Y = First Bank Operational Activities = Dependent Variable; X1 = Information Quality = Independent
Variable; X2 = System Quality =Independent Variable; X3 = Perceived Usefulness and Ease of Use of IT
(PUEOUIT) = Independent Variable; X4 = Trust= Independent Variable; X5 = Awareness = Independent
Variable
XI. Research Techniques And Procedure
A fairly representative sample was obtained by employing the use of a non probability sampling
procedures to select three groups or locations as sample population. Experts says that to obtain a representative
sample, each unit must be selected from the total population systematically in a specified way drawing a sample
involves defining the population, determining the size of the sample so that all represented and the units drawn
must fully represent the entire or total population. The selected clusters in this study include:
1) First Bank Plc Branches in Owerri, Imo State. 2) First Bank Plc Branches in Enugu and 3) First Bank Plc
Branches in Portharcourt. They were selected because the researcher felt that the clusters were large enough to
represent the population and embrace the technical information the researcher was seeking to obtain. This helps
the researcher to observe the elements, administer research instruments and identify characteristics of the
element.
XII. Presentation And Analysis Of Data
The data collected from the survey by a way of structured questionnaires are being presented in this
section and analyzed. The analysis is to evaluate the impact of Information Technology on Banking Operations
as well as the statistical significance of the impact of each of the components or factor of Information
Technology by the method of hypothesis testing.
XIII. Results Presentation And Description

XV. Interpretation Of Results
In table b, the meanings of the various statistical tool used in analyzing the model of this research work
were given as follows:
a. The co-efficient of correlation (R) shows the degree or extent of relationship between the dependent and the
independent variables. The value 0.732 in table (a) shows the existence of a positive relationship between
these variables.
b. The Co-efficient of Determination (R2
) explains the proportion of the total variations in the dependent
variable that is attributable to the variations in the independent variable. From table (a), it was revealed that
about 53.6% (0.536) of the variations in the dependent variable are attributable to variations in the
independent variables.
c. The Adjusted Co-efficient of Determination (R2
Adjusted) which shows the actual variations in the
dependent variable is attributable to the independent variable. Table (a) above reveals that the adjusted co-
efficient of determination is 0.470 which implies that the actual variation is 47.0% as against 53.6%
suggested by normal R2
.
d. The Student t-test (t-test) shows the significance of individual parameters (ICT development indicators)
used in the model reveal a significant estimator as all variables under consideration at 5% (0.05) level of
significant.
e. The F-statistic (F-ratio) shows the overall significance of the model and evaluates the model. The model is
significant because the calculated F-ratio of 8.100 is greater than the table values of 2.21 at both 5% levels
of significance.

XVI. Test Of Hypothesis Results
Recall that, we accept the null hypothesis if the critical tabulated value is greater than the calculated
value, otherwise reject.
H01(a): There is no significant impact of information quality on first bank operational activities.
HA1(b): There is significant impact of information quality on first bank operational activities. Using the decision
rule, we found that the tabulated value of t-statistics is greater than the calculated value. Since ttab >t cal , we
accept null hypothesis (H01(a)) and reject alternate hypothesis (HA1(b) ) and conclude that Information quality
has no impact statistically on banking operational activities.
Alternatively, at significance level of 0.560 for information quality, information quality is insignificant because
the probability value is greater than 0.05 significance level (i.e. P>0.05). We therefore accept null hypothesis
(H01(a)) and reject alternate hypothesis (HA1(b) ) and conclude that information quality has no significant impact
statistically on banking operational activities.
H02(a): There is no significant impact of system quality on first bank operational activities.
HA2(b): There is significant impact of system quality on first bank operational activities.
Using the decision rule, we found that the tabulated value of t-statistics is 1.6896 and the calculated t-value is
0.822. Since ttab >t cal , we accept null hypothesis (H02(a) ) and reject alternate hypothesis (HA2(b) ) and
conclude that system quality has no significant impact statistically on banking operational activities.
Alternatively, at significance level of 0.417 for system quality, it is also insignificant because the probability
value 0.417 is greater than 0.05 significance level. We therefore accept null hypothesis (H02(a) ) and reject
alternate hypothesis (HA2(b) ) and conclude that system quality has no significant impact statistically on banking
operational activities.
H03(a): There is no significant impact of perceived usefulness and ease of use of IT (PUEOUIT) on first bank
operational activities.
HA3(b): There is significant impact of perceived usefulness and ease of use of IT (PUEOUIT) on first bank
operational activities.
Using the decision rule, we found that the tabulated t-value is 1.6896 and the calculated t-value of
PUEOUIT is -1.046. Therefore , since ttab >t cal , we accept null hypothesis (H03(a) ) and conclude that PUEOIT
has no impact statistically on banking operational activities.
Alternatively, since the significance probability value of PUEOUIT is 0.303 and is greater than 0.05
significance level, we therefore accept null hypothesis (H03(a) ) and reject alternate hypothesis (HA3(b) ) and
conclude that PUEOUIT has no significant impact statistically on banking operational activities.
H04(a): There is no significant impact of trust on first bank operational activities.
HA4(b): There is significant impact of trust on first bank operational activities.
Using the decision rule, we found that the tabulated t-value is 1.6896 and the calculated t-value for trust is
2.424. Since tcal >ttab , we reject null hypothesis (H04(a) ) and accept alternate hypothesis (HA4(b) ) and conclude
that trust have significant impact statistically on banking operational activities.
Alternatively, knowing that the significance probability value for trust is 0.021 is less than 0.05, trust is
significant at this significance level of 0.05 (P<0.05),we therefore reject null hypothesis (H04(a) ) and accept
alternate hypothesis (HA4(b) ) and conclude that trust has a significant impact on banking operational activities.
H05(a): There is no significant impact of awareness on first bank operational activities.
HA5(b): There is significant impact of awareness on first bank operational activities.
Using the decision rule, we found that the tabulated t-value is 1.6896 and the calculated t-value of awareness is
3.817. Since tcal >ttab , we reject null hypothesis (H05(a) ) and accept alternate hypothesis (HA5(b) ) and conclude
that awareness have significant impact statistically on banking operational activities.
Alternatively, the significant probability value of awareness is 0.001.At this probability value, awareness is
significant at 0.05 significance level, we therefore reject null hypothesis (H05(a)) and accept alternate hypothesis
(HA5(b) ) and conclude that awareness has significant impact statistically on banking operational activities.
XVII. Summary Of Findings And Conclusion
The findings of this study reveal that a positive correlation exists between ICT and banks profitability
in Nigeria. This implies that a marginal change in the level of the investment and adoption of ICT in the banking
industry will result to a proportionate increase in the profit level. This is confirmed by the level of the regression
coefficient as well as the factor analysis which revealed that an insignificant size of profit exist without the
introduction of the ICT. The results in Table (a) shows that banks that have a high level of ICT will make
intensive use of production and efficiency practices such as business re-engineering, outsourcing and flexible
work arrangements which will yield the best performance. According to Milgrom and Roberts (1990) they
argued that to be successful, firms typically need to adopt ICT as part of a “system” or “cluster” of mutually
reinforcing organizational approaches. The underlying argument behind the bundling of ICT and organizational
performance is that it enables firms to introduce organizational changes in the areas of re-engineering,

decentralization, flexible work arrangements, outsourcing, lean production, and team-work and customer
relations. It also allows firms to produce with greater flexibility and shortened product cycles to satisfy shifting
consumer preferences. In turn, these organizational changes are essential for realizing the full benefits of ICT in
every entity. Concerns about ICT role in attaining effectiveness, efficiency and productivity were raised in the
late 1980s. Since then a large number of studies have emerged both at the industry and firm level that have
substantially improved our understanding of the relationship between ICT and firm performance. In particular,
the firm-level studies have argued than an explanation for the so-called “productivity paradox” can be attributed
to an insufficient response of organizational changes to adapt to changing business environment, to make better
use of knowledge, technology and human resources, to respond to new demands from suppliers and customers,
and to use ICT effectively.
XVIII. Recommendations
Presently, Information and communication technology has received great thoughtfulness across various
industries and substantial positive effect on bank‟s profitability, cashiers work, banking transaction, patronage,
services delivery, and customer‟s services among other. Hence, it is recommended that more attention has to be
directed towards the use of Information and communication Technology in banking operations since the
industry serve as a lubricant to the cog of the wheel of the nation‟s‟ economy while appropriate policies must be
put in place to ensure proper monitoring and the determination of the optimum size required to attain
organizational efficiency.
