decisions on innovation and technological development, amounts invested, reasons
for investing, occupation level and quality of employed personnel, financing
mechanisms and loan commitments, effect of innovation, among others. Due to
the fact that the EDIT did not pose questions on firm performance variables, we
use complementary data from the Annual Manufacturing Survey (Encuesta Anual

ASCERTAINING THE INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) MATURITY LEVE...ijait
Information and Communication Technology has indeed been the driving force in most economics of the world owing to its versatility in integrating with most national sectors. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) models have been developed with the sole aim of ascertaining the maturity level in various economic sectors from the perspective of ICT. Due to the divergent impact of ICT in the Banking sector in Nigeria; this research paper has attempted to ascertain the maturity level within the banking sector using KochiKar Model: a Knowledge-driven ICT maturity model. The dataset for analysis was obtained using structured interview approach spread across Ten (10) Nigeria banks, capturing 12 personnel’s each with an overall total of 120 respondents. The ICT maturity parameter indicators show clearly that Application, Human Resource Infrastructure and Policy have varied ratio of: 65%, 46% , 30% and 16%, respectively while the overall maturity index was captured at 0.40 (40%) falling into “BASIC” level within the stages of Kochikar model measurement. These results have highlighted the need in improving policies and infrastructures tremendously while applications and human resources can be expanded gradually which will overall increase the maturity index level.

Abstract: The research work focused on the contributions of information and communication technology to the growth and development of banking activities in Nigeria. The research work tried to identify and to assess the extent of the use of Information Technology in First Bank of Nigeria and seek to find out what impact as a whole does Information Technology have on banking operations. Questionnaires were generated, distributed and result analyzed using statistical data. The findings of this study reveal that a positive correlation exists between ICT and banks profitability in Nigeria. This implies that a marginal change in the level of the investment and adoption of ICT in the banking industry will result to a proportionate increase in the profit level. This is confirmed by the level of the regression coefficient as well as the factor analysis which revealed that an insignificant size of profit exist without the introduction of the ICT. The results in Table a, b and c show that banks that have a high level of ICT will make intensive use of production and efficiency practices such as business re-engineering, outsourcing and flexible work arrangements which will yield the best performance. Innovation is a productive process which relies on human resources and investment
in capital assets procurement, machinery and/or equipments intended for technological
development and innovation activities. If the production function at the microeconomic
level is the relationship between productive factors and output, capital allocated to ICT
can be taken as another productive factor, in the same way as capital, work and human
capital. The relative ease of access to ICT, due to their fast price reduction and quality
increase, and to the fact that they are considered general purpose technologies, have led
various scholars to propose that ICT, due to their effect on cost reductions of coordination
among individuals and firms, may produce a change in firm structure. Likewise, innovation
also has an effect on productivity, mainly through total factor productivity but also by
interacting with other factors such as capital or human capital. This innovation refers
to technologically new processes and products, either at firm, local, country or global
level. The emphasis on novelty does not mean to make more of the same, but to expand
human knowledge frontier, observing that what is novel may also be applied at firm or
country level. Therefore, when we speak about innovation, we must understand that what
is new for a particular country may not be new at international level.
Can ICT Reduce Poverty and Unemployment and Elevate Development Integrating M...Dr. Amarjeet Singh
Information and Communication Technology
(ICT) can boost the performance of people and improve
overall human capital for the alleviation of poverty in a
society. Today, ICT is considered as one of the major
sources of driving force for the overall economic
development integrating with Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprises (MSMEs). The e-Commerce has a great role in
achieving business performance in the emerging Asian
countries. However, MSMEs are experiencing more
challenges that prevent them from further increasing their
business. The earlier studies question to which extent
MSMEs have benefited from these businesses. Therefore,
the main purpose of this study is to demonstrate the
importance of ICT in developing MSMEs based on the
success stories of emerging Asian countries. This study
based on subjective/argumentative i.e., idea generation in
Information Systems (IS). The findings of the study reveal
that the MSMEs utilizing ICT can alleviate poverty and
unemployment. It also reveals that MSMEs with ICT and
e-Commerce can enhance employment and new job
creation that can contribute to the overall economic
development. This study is expected to extend for further
an empirical investigation broadly on the same issue to
validate the research results.

This work was aimed at analyzing the relationships between some selected complementary assets (independent variables) and some specified benefits/value creation (dependent variables), beyond Information Technology (IT) investments in an organizational setting. The purpose was to determine
significant complementary assets that impact greatly on value creation beyond IT investments. With 175 questionnaires sent to IT project and program managers of companies in the Telecom industry in Ghana, and analyzed, the following findings were revealed: for value creation beyond IT investments to be
achieved, the staff must be computer literate, there must be the availability of experts and firms around to help in resolving IT problems quickly and timely that crop up, and the staff must be empowered to be innovative with IT. Again, the results showed that most of the complementary assets employed in this work, tend to favor benefits of Improved staff morale and Improved business processes. Also, one of the strongest positive relationships was found to exist between “supportive organizational culture that values efficiency and effectiveness” as predictor variable and “service/product quality” as response
variable.

The Use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Business Manage...Dr. Nazrul Islam
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an integral part of business management now-a-day. It is inevitable for the smooth running of business irrespective of size and complexity all over the world. Due to the rapid development of ICT and its huge use in all spheres of our lives, businesses are also influenced by it. Now, businesses are managing their resources by using ICT support that is helping them to perform their tasks faster and accurate than before. But the developing countries like Bangladesh are still struggling to introduce ICT supports in all areas of businesses. But due to a very strong culture at work place, this effort is hindered substantially. Therefore, this paper aims at identifying the present status of the use of ICT in business management and its challenges it faces. Secondary data have been primarily used for conducting this study which was collected from the different business reports and the journal papers. An experience survey was also conducted among the senior administrators of the business houses were also included in the study. Results show that the use of ICT is very low in the small and medium business enterprises while the large businesses houses are using ICT supports. Results also show that the use of ICT primarily depends on the complexity and the nature of the business. The entrepreneurs who have ICT literacy, they are mostly using ICT supports in the management of their businesses. This study suggests that the business houses in Bangladesh should use ICT support in order to increase the efficiency at their work. But this is often depends on the ICT infrastructure of the country as a whole.
CO-EVOLUTIONARY COUPLING BETWEEN CAPTURED AND UNCAPTURED GDP CYCLES:CROSS LEA...IJMIT JOURNAL
A solution to the critical problem of a dilemma between R&D expansion and productivity decline that a
majority of information and communication technology (ICT) leaders have been confronting in the digital
economy is expected. It can be expected by a spinoff from economic functionality-seeking GDP-based coevolution cycle to supra-functionality beyond an economic value-seeking uncaptured GDP-driven coevolution cycle. However, the transformation dynamism remains a black box.

CONSEQUENCES OF THE DIGITAL ECONOMY: TRANSFORMATION OF THE GROWTH CONCEPTIJMIT JOURNAL
The digital economy is transforming the traditional concepts of economic growth. The recent reversal trend
in GDP growth of ICT leaders can be attributed to effective utilization of soft innovation resources in
Finland and adherence to traditional resources in Singapore.Confronting a productivity decline in the
digital economy, global information and communication technology (ICT) leaders are transforming
business models into those with uncaptured GDP creation. This can be attributed tothe harnessing soft
innovation resourcesagainst a productivity decline. This in turn activates a self-propagating function and
induces supra-functionality beyond economic value corresponding to a shift in people’s preferences. It also
contributes to removingstructural impediments in GDP growth.Empirical analyses utilizing the
development trajectories of 500 global ICT firms and also world ICT leadersFinland and Singapore
demonstratedthese hypothetical views andprovided an insightful suggestion as to overcome aproductivity
decline in the digital economy.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an integral part of business management now-a-day. It is inevitable for the smooth running of business irrespective of size and complexity. Due to the rapid development of ICT and its huge use in all spheres of our lives, businesses are also substantially influenced by it. Now, the resources of the businesses are primarily managed by using ICT supports that helps perform tasks faster and more accurate than before. But the developing countries are still struggling to introduce ICT supports in all areas of business management processes as the effort is substantially hindered by a strong but ineffective work culture. Therefore, to use ICT in business management we need to know the issues and challenges of it.

2. INTRODUCTION
PRODUCTIVITY is simply the ability to produce.
It can also be seen as the rate at which a company produces
goods and services, in relation to the amount of materials and
number of employees needed.
Information Technology (IT) is a term that encompasses all
forms of technology used to create, store, exchange, and use
information in its various forms (business data, voice
conversations, still images, motion pictures, multimedia
presentations, and other forms; including those not yet
conceived).

3. INTRODUCTION (Cont’d)
Business Process Reengineering (BPR) is the fundamental
rethinking and radical redesign of business. It is a process that
aims to achieve dramatic improvements in critical measures of
performance-cost, quality, capital service, speed and ultimately,
productivity.
BPR is traditionally aimed at automating the pre-existing process
in an organization.
This research identified and described the impact of IT
investment on productivity at Telecommunication Company of
Tehran (TCT). Furthermore, the situation of BPR approach in
TCT as a method to improve the IT influences, was evaluated.3/28/2015IMPACT OF I.T ON PRODUCTIVITY

7. WHAT IT MEANS
From the results, it can be deducted that, IT enhances productivity
as follow:
1. At the economic level, by:
Generating another source of income – thereby enhancing
sustainable economic development.
Minimizing poverty in the region by creating additional
employment opportunities.
Promoting e-commerce. Buying and selling of goods and
services over the internet tends to enhance creativity.
Promoting smaller and more accurate inventories.
Creating room for faster information flow. 3/28/2015IMPACT OF I.T ON PRODUCTIVITY

For future research, researchers should investigate this approach in the
private telecommunication sectors or other governmental companies not
only in Iran, but also other pats of the world to compare the findings.
Furthermore, economic view is the approach that directed this study, it is
suggested that future researchers investigate the impact of IT from other
perspectives, such as influences of IT in creating value for customers or
impact of IT on other resources like labors. It is also useful to investigate
the impact of IT in organizational culture.
IT readiness in companies is another issue that is suggested for future
research.
This research has focused on BPR approach as a complementary
investment. It is useful that future researchers evaluate other 3/28/2015IMPACT OF I.T ON PRODUCTIVITY
