How did the Second World War Affect Family Life in Britain...
How did the Second World War Affect Family Life in Britain Between 1939 45? The Blitz comes
from a German word meaning lightning. It was the sustained strategic bombing of the United
Kingdom by Germany during the Second World War. Between 7 September 1940 and 21 May 1941
there were major raids (attacks in which more than 100 tons of high explosives were dropped) on 16
British cities. Over a period of 267 days (almost 37 weeks), London was attacked 71 times,
Birmingham, Liverpool and Plymouth eight times, Bristol six, Glasgow five, Southampton four,
Portsmouth three, and there was also at least one large raid on another eight cities. This was a result of
a rapid escalation starting on 24 August 1940, when night bombers aiming for RAF ... Show more

We lads used to pray for raids during math classes because it meant a small diversion. We used to
collect aluminum for the war effort. Old saucepans, frying pans anything used to be collected and
when a truckload was achieved the authorities used to collect it, and it was used for building aircraft.
The Germans used to drop hundreds of meters of foil strips called window to put a large amount of
metal in the sky it confused our early and primitive radar into thinking there were a lot of aircraft
coming. So our fighters would take off and go to attack, only to find it a false alarm, and be out of fuel
when the main raid attacked elsewhere. Window was a favorite collection item. We thought it insane
that Mr Hitler would send us all this aluminum for us to turn into aircraft to go and bomb him with. So
even we kids were roped into the war effort. I remember one particular day Baggy Davis and I had
tied a rope to a tail section of a downed German fighter aircraft, and with the help of about 6 other
lads dragged it about 2 miles to school leaving silver streaks along the road as we went. We got extra
points for our houses [teams] for such a large aluminum

Mental Illness and Mass Shooting
A series of shots being fired in the near distance can be heard. A crew of ambulances, police cars, and
fire trucks are seen speeding down the streets while blaring their sirens to warn people to move out of
the way rapidly. Then, crowds of people are seen running down the street franticly. Sounds of
earsplitting yells fill the air. Their eyes are filled with tears of fear and terror. They look as if they were
running for their lives. There is a wave of worry and curiosity that washes over everyone s face as they
stand there from a distance watching it take place. There was a sense of wanting to run towards the
chaos to see what was going on. But the panic of the people running gave off the feeling of Warning!

These illnesses then could be a reason to why they do such things like shootings. The new technology
there is today in the 21st century can help detect mental illness and improve treatment. There is no real
set way of detecting a mental illness other than examining the behavior of the person. A test that can
be done on the brain is called a Computerized Tomography scan. A Computerized Tomography scan,
or CT scan for short, basically takes many x rays at multiple angles of your head and brain in order to
create a complete picture. CT scans can give more information than a normal x ray. It can help detect
any injuries done to the head and brain as well as other traumas. These injuries and traumas done to
the brain can lead to the cause of a mental illness. This advancement in technology has helped quite
significantly in the 21st century. Not only can it provide more information, but the results can be
obtained immediately. These results, unlike before in the late 20th century, involve more clear pictures
of the object. With the 21st century technology improving the CT scan, more lives are able to be
saved. Not only does the 21st century technology help improve the way an illness is detected, but it
also improves the way a mental illness is treated. Treatment methods for the mental health can be
categorized as somatic or psychotherapeutic. A somatic treatment involves electroconvulsive therapy
or anything that helps stimulate the

Characteristics Of The False Prophet
ix is the number of man, therefore, we have named this chapter, the six signs of the false prophet.
There are more, of course, but we have chosen major and consistent characteristic that follow false
prophets. We must interject that many prophets are not false, but fleshly. They lack maturity,
discipline, sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, and a strong knowledge of the written word of God. Many
have not died to their flesh. Others sadly lack in humility and have allowed their gifts to exclude them
from accountability.
Furthermore, we must understand that we are all false at some time or another. No one is infallible
except the Lord. The false prophet is one who has escape divine discipline and fallen headlong into the
ditch of deception. Here is the Lord s warning concerning the emergence of the false prophets as His
return approaches. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. For there shall arise
false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were
possible, they shall deceive the very elect (Matthew 24:11, 24). Let us make this point clear. If you are
a true prophet of the Lord, you certainly will be called false at some point in your ministry. The
servant is no greater than his master is. If they called our Lord false, a man perfect in every respect,
then assuredly, you will be called the same.
Consequently, every prophet must make your calling and election sure, that is you must know who
you are in God,

The Themes Of Symbolism In The Swimmer By John Cheever
In John Cheever s short story The Swimmer , Neddy Merrill decides to take a swim through the
country. David Hockney, on the other hand, finalised his painting Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two
Figures) in 1972, only eight years after the first publication of The Swimmer in Cheever s book
Collected Stories and Other Writings. On the left hand side of the canvas, a breast stroking swimmer is
visible in a pool. The pool water is painted in two colours of blue, one slightly darker than the other.
Next to the pool, on the right hand side, Peter Schlesinger, allegedly, is wearing a red and beige suit.
He is looking down at the swimmer in the pool and additionally leans forward to allow himself a
better view. In the middle distance, vegetation is visible in various shades of green. However, the trees
and bushes seem blurry, as if it is misty. Both works share a common theme of isolation: the artist
compares to Neddy Merrill and the figure in Hockney s painting to Merrill s neighbours. The artist in
Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures) by David Hockney shares multiple attributes with John

disrespecting manner. The disapproval of Shirley Adams contributes to the overall negative

Currently, the GE headquarters remains in Schenectady, New York, and have a second location in
Fairfield, CT. As a publicly traded company, GE is one of the original twelve on the Dow Jones Index;
the only one left remaining there today, 119 years later. In addition to the Dow, General Electric is also
a member of the S P 500. As of 2015, the company operates through the following business divisions:

A company, like General Electric, that has a positive current ratio greater than 1, will also have a
positive net working capital. Net working capital assesses a company s ability to pay off short term
obligations. General Electric, along with their industry, both have the ability to meet short term
commitments and liquidate assets easily. Activity ratios have the capability to show how efficient, or
inefficient, a company is operating. Receivables turnover ratio indicates the level of efficiency with
managing credit given to customers and the collection period. Using their recent third quarter data, I
calculated that General Electric has a receivables turnover ratio of .80. That isn t awful, but their
industry is preforming at a much higher level of 1.8. Essentially, GE is not collecting payments as fast,
and are less efficient than their market competitors. On the other hand, there is also inventory
turnover. This ratio is set up to show how many times a period a company is selling out of
merchandise. Here is where General Electric is very close to the industry average. GE has an
inventory turnover of 4.2, compared to the industry at 4.4. The higher the ratio, the more effective a
business stands. Lastly, total asset turnover is used to measure how efficiently your business uses its
assets to generate sales (Avenir). GE possesses a ratio of .14, much lower than the industry

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
The Alchemist was originally written in Portuguese by a famous Brazilian author Paulo Coelho. The
book s original title is O Alqumistia . The book was first published in 1988 which is since then been
translated into 56 different languages and is one of the bestselling books of the history. This
translation of the book was written by Alan R. Clarke and was first published by Harper Collins
Publishers in 1993. The genres of the book are fiction, fantasy, psychology, drama.
The writer following his desire to find the Philosopher s Stone or the Elixir of Life has spent a long
time studying Alchemy. He had spent the little money he had to buy imported books. The books were
no use to him because they contained impenetrable language, full of symbols, dragons, lions, suns,
moons and other such figures. The writer throughout this book tries to explain little facts that are but
the ultimate reality in this world. As he does in the preface by saying that people only learn truth once
they have first whole heartedly rejected it; that we mustn t run away from our own destiny; that the
hand of God is firm, but infinitely generous .
The author states that this book is a symbolic text as he talks about the Universal Language and the
Soul of the World. No man is big or small in any category, all are equal but the ones who understand
the Language of the world and are accustomed to deal with people using it achieve far more than
others. The only pure language of world is that of love, it

The Fight For Clean Drinking Water
Drinking a glass of water does not usually stir up thoughts of injustice. If it in someway did, it would
probably be over concern for those in underdeveloped countries who struggle to get clean drinking
water. Yet, the struggle to attain clean drinking water occurs in the United States as well and especially
for minorities. Regulations in the Federal Safe Drinking Act often go unmet and the purpose of the
Safe Water Drinking Act unfulfilled as minority dominant and poor communities often have the most
severe and pervasive health violations of their drinking water. Unfortunately, this occurs right here in
the San Joaquin Valley. The Valley demonstrates environmental injustice in the types of communities
that experience nitrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2007, 75% of nitrate violations in water in California happened in the San Joaquin Valley and the
source of the increased nitrates in groundwater is most certainly from the large agribusiness in the
valley. The United States Geological Survey concluded the agriculture was the main source of nitrate
pollution in both ground and surface water as there is at least 6.6 million acres of irrigated crop land in
the Valley and each acre creates about 80 pounds of nitrogen every year. Nitrogen is commonly found
in pesticides and fertilizer and it seeps into the ground as nitrates. Animal waster is another byproduct
of farms and about 1 to 2.5% of manure created by the Valley s 1.6 million dairy cows is nitrogen.
Overall, fertilizers and animal waste applied to crops create 96% of nitrate contamination of drinking
water in California. While agriculture and resulting ground water problems is far from unusual, the
water situation in the San Joaquin Valley is rather ironic. Ninety percent of residents in the Valley rely
on groundwater for drinking water. Farmers receive state and federal water subsidies for irrigation
purposes that is not highly contaminated with nitrates. Farmers receive water both from California s
Bay Delta and from more local runoff from the Sierra Nevada. They receive this water at about $70

The Symbolism In The Wizard Of Oz
Early in the book, we see how Baum was influenced by color. It also appears that he may have wanted
to specifically make references to the United States in his book as well. When the meet Glinda, she is
described in the colors of the national flag, as a woman with rich red hair, a dress of pure white, and
blue eyes. 1 It appears as if the association of Glinda with the colors of red, white, and blue was not a
mere coincidence. Glinda plays an important role in the story, and while she is a witch, she is a good
and powerful witch. She also plays an important role at the end of the story when she is able to help
Dorothy achieve her dreams. Oz, the supposed powerful one, was not able to help Dorothy, but,
through Glinda, Dorothy finally learns the secret ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each country of Oz has its own distinct color (see diagram below). The arrangement of this color
scheme is also very important. There is no great symbolic meaning to the color scheme of Oz... but it
is not arbitrary either. The change from one region to another follows the principles of color theory.
Each of the three major countries visited in the Wizard of Oz has a primary color, one of the three
from which all others derive. Dorothy and her companions do not journey directly from one primary
color to another. Instead their path passes through a secondary one. To get to the West, they must go
through the green countryside around theEmerald City, merely a link between the blue land of the
Munchkins and the yellow Winkie Country. They also traverse from the Winkie Country to Glinda s
Castle in the red South by way of the Emerald City; the wild countryside they visit before arriving in
the Quadling Country is brown. It is made from all three primary colors or mixing green with red. The
standard color wheel puts blue to the right (East), yellow to the left (West) and red at the bottom
(South) like the Munchkins, Winkies, and

The 16Th And 17Th Centuries In England Are Marked By The
The 16th and 17th centuries in England are marked by the great societal changes that emerged from
the effects the Renaissance and Reformation had on ideas concerning religion, education and social
order. In regard to these developments, it has been argued that the spiritual and educational standing of
women had been elevated during this time, coupled also with the fact that this period saw the rule of
three female monarchs, which arguably challenged and improved society s opinions and attitudes
toward women. However, it is important to critically consider whether these societal movements have
been retroactively deemed beneficial to women because they had favored modernization a process that
was of much greater advantage to men than to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ranking of existence also implied a hierarchy of genders as well, as women were thought to be
created from man and responsible for mankind s fall from Eden. Moreover, an important feature of the
Chain was that the top rank in every categorical division was also analogous to the top rank of every
other division. Therefore, the father as head of the family, as with the king as the head of the kingdom,
was analogous to God in the universe. Because fathers, and in turn the patriarchy, represented God and
wielded his authority, they were understood to be the unquestioned ruler of their sphere of activity
within the chain. An example of this kind of thought can be seen in a popular text called Of
Domesticall Duties, written by an English clergyman William Gouge in 1622. In this conduct book on
family life, Gouge declares, The husband is as a Priest unto his wife... He is the highest in the family,
and hath authority over all and the charge of all is committed to his charge; hee is as a king in his own
house. Because the structure of the chain maintained that the function of men as fathers and heads of
households was analogous to the role of the monarch in the kingdom, male dominance was strongly
rooted in divine ordinance and reinforced through a fully articulated theory of patriarchy.

Late Night Show Satire
Just a few years ago, late night shows were a way for celebrities to promote their new movie, TV
series, or music. The host would just conduct light hearted interviews and harmless, interactive games.
Jimmy Kimmel has had guests read hate tweets; James Corden has sang karaoke while driving guest
stars; Jimmy Fallon has competed in lip sync battles against guests; SNL has invited guests to
temporarily replace Pandora. Now, instead of simple comedy, some hosts are injecting political
commentary in their news updates and monologues. Over the last year, late night television ratings
have shifted. Fiery shows like Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and The Late Show with Stephen
Colbert have seen an influx of viewers; whereas the apolitical Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon has
begun to decline. TV preferences, show content, and social dynamics have transitioned to be more
political, demonstrating that our society is becoming more tribal, more group oriented. Last year, pre

Osteogenesis Imperfecta ( Oi ) Is An Inherited Disorder...
Science Biology Transcript
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI)
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) is an inherited disorder characterized by extreme fragility of the bones
also known as brittle bone disease .
Clinical Features
The symptoms of OI include malformed bones, short, small body, loose joints, muscle weakness,
sclera (whites of the eyes) look purple, grey or blue, triangular face, barrel shaped rib cage, curved
spine, brittle teeth, breathing problems and a collagen deficiency.
Classification
There are many ways to classify OI. The most accurate methods are the following.
In some cases, an ultrasound can identify bone abnormalities at 14 18 weeks. Cells obtained through
chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis can also be analysed for a genetic mutation. Amount of
collagen can be tested through a skin sample and genes can be tested through a blood sample and X
rays to check for bone abnormalities such as the symptoms explained earlier can be used to diagnose.
Radiographic Features
The hallmark feature of Osteogenesis Imperfecta is fragile bones that fracture easily. Osteogenesis
Imperfecta affects both bone quality and quantity (i.e. bone mass).
History
We do not know for certain about when OI started. Perhaps when sin entered the world but we do
know that it has been around for a long time as you can see in these pictures.

Melting Pot Anna Quindlen
Melting Pot or Anti Melting Pot? Surprisingly, the melting pot is a unclear piece of the American
Identity. The melting pot is an idea about how people (immigrants) all over the world come in one
place and share their different cultures. America is one example of a melting pot since immigrants all
over the world visit, live and share thoughts and ideas to create one big unique culture. While most
Americans are proud of the United States to be a country of big culture, some Americans do not like
the notion of immigrants coming from other countries to live in America. Although many writers
demonstrate that the melting pot exists, some authors show that there are Americans who don t want
the United States to become a melting pot. To examine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These Americans want to keep their culture unmixed with other ethnic groups. For instance, White
Americans once segregated African Americans. Not only are African Americans segregated, but other
races are segregated as well. Daniel Thames, a author from the Washington News states, But yet, you
witness this persistence of segregation [in all races], the fragmentation, all these fights over resources,
this finger pointing. You would have to be blind not to see it (Thames 2). It seems although there are
indeed immigrants from other countries, that actually makes competition for resources (such as jobs)
for Americans harder. Therefore, some Americans are not interested in seeing another immigrants
culture. In fact, some Americans may dislike immigrants for taking resources from them. .
Metaphorically, this represents Americans trying to put a lid over the melting pot, so that no races
enter the pot. Only white Americans would exist inside the pot. In addition, Noy s situation is similar
to a situation called nativism. Nativism is the political idea where people born established in a country
are more important than immigrants. The atmosphere of Noy s story is similar to nativism. Noy s
classmates and neighbors appeared to be superior and more important. Nativism was actually common
throughout United States history.

recognition program on employee engagement at a Fortune 500 financial institution. Specifically, the
impact of various rewards and recognition programs utilization was examined and correlated with
employee engagement scores. This chapter describes the research method and design used, participant
identification and selection process, data collection instruments and definition of the variables. It is
proposed that:
H1: Employee engagement index will be positively correlated with the team s perception of fair
compensation.
H2: Employee engagement index will be positively correlated with team s perception that
performance is appropriately rewarded.
H3: Employee engagement index will be positively correlated with the team s perception of receipt of
appropriate recognition (beyond pay and financial incentives) for contribution.
H4: Average volume of team awards received through company sponsored recognition program will
be positively correlated with team s employee engagement score.
H5: Average volume of team awards submitted through company sponsored recognition program will
be positively correlated with team s employee engagement score.

Taylorism Theory Of Scientific Management
Many theorists have influenced and demonstrated certain ideas and concepts that influence the social
and psychological factors in an organisational management. Taylorism theory of scientific
management developed techniques for improving the efficiency of the work process. The scientific
management approach revolves around the idea of arranging for work to accomplish proficiency,
institutionalization, specialization, and improvement. With Taylor s scientific approach decisions are
based on science or exact measurements. Taylor s theory decreased its role dramatically in the event of
being questioned whether scientific management was efficient. The human relation school of
management thought developed due to the flaws in the assumptions of the Taylorism theory.
Taylorism was inclined towards efficiency, process and principle, however critiques felt human
behavior was neglected. Organisations should take initiative in helping employees adjust to
organisational life by nurturing cooperative systems between labour and management. Finally, this
essay will reveal the evolution from Taylor s scientific principles of management to Elton Mayo s
Human Relation School of Thought as employee well being and motivation has been given more
recognition over the course of time.
Fredrick Taylor made an observation of men at work which led him to develop what is known as
Taylorism management theory. He theorized that workers were inefficient because they tend to ration

judgeship temporarily to serve in the U.S. Army. Even though at that time Judge Thurmond was
exempted from military service because of his position, he must of sensed that the people of Edgefield
County expected military service of their men. If he was going to be a successful politician in the
future he had to serve at that time. I will never sign a bill to mix the races. This was Strom Thurmond
s only mention of race during his Gubernatorial campaign, but it was something that definitely needed
to be mentioned if he expected to win. Strom Thurmond dominated media coverage, emerging as the
courageous crusader against the Barnwell Ring. Returning as a war hero, and with his strong record of
public service he was able to defeat 10 other candidates.
Strom Thurmond has been a strong personal influence on Southern politics. His influence can be seen

Reflection OnKnowing Others Is Wisdom, Mastering Yourself...
I would like to begin with the quote Knowing others is wisdom, mastering yourself is Enlightenment .
In this course I have discovered more about myself all through the class formally as well as
informally. To my surprise few of the Management skills I was performing in my day to day life in a
corporate environment without knowing it. And then there are some brand new skills I have learnt in
the class such as Tuckman s team model, Drexler/Sibbet team performance model. At first I was
thinking I am a helper (Type 2 enneagram) but to my amazement I found out that I am Achiever (Type
3 enneagram). As type 3 personalities are extroverts I did not find difficulty in any stages of Tuckman

basis. And being only son they don t have any other choice also. From then onwards every day I
started calling them even before their message. This will be The Best lesson I learnt informally for my

our creativity and innovation class we will be having multiple assignments for the week, so I went by
each step of the model starting with Orientation of team by meeting in library and brainstorm the ideas
for the assignments and provide all necessary inputs and hands over the responsibility to one of the
team member so that the particular member feels that we all are trusting him solely and also gives the
100% commitment without any external factors. Which is good for the team to achieve the high
performance. Not all the brainstorming session ends smoothly, because we cannot incorporate all the
ideas. So when it comes to dealing with the conflict situations to convince the team without hurting
anyone, I learned Thomas Kilmann conflict mode Instrument (TKI) when to compromise and when to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Smoking
In today s world, many people are addicted to cigarettes. According to the data, there are about 1.1
billion smokers worldwide, and 70 percent of them are in developing countries. About 47 percent of
men and 12 percent of women worldwide smoke. In this environment, there are so many people who
have to do with lung diseases, especially lung cancer, which is already the highest rate of cancer in
many countries where people smoke so heavily, such as China. So, there are so many people are
wondering whether forbid smoking is a good way to protect the health of the community. According to
what I have collected all the data view, smoking bans have advantages and disadvantages.
First, the smoking ban can play a very important role in personal health. As known, tobacco smoke
contains at least three kinds of dangerous chemicals: the tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide, tar is
made up of several kinds of material blending material, will be concentrated into a viscous material in
the lungs. Nicotine is an addictive drug that is absorbed by the lungs, primarily affecting the nervous
system. Carbon monoxide reduces the ability of red blood cells to transport oxygen throughout the
body A person who smoked 15 to 20 cigarettes a day was 14 times more likely to die of lung cancer,

The Roaring 20s In The 1920s
The 1920s were prosperous times for Canada and many other countries around the world. Canadian
economy, thanks to its vast storage of natural resources, was striving to the extent that the 1920s was
nicknamed The Roaring 20s . The 1920s era not only provided Canada with an amazing trade
relationship, but also led to the development of different movements inventions that shook the world
and shaped the way we live today. These impacting events include artwork, social change, women s
rights, prohibition, the Model T car, the radio, silent film, medical advances and the telephone.
Though all these phenomena worked together to make the 20s roar , but in particular women s rights,
medical advances and the telephone made the most prominent impact on the past and present society.
God had created males and females to be equal, but this principle did not play out well back in the
1900s. Though women were given some respect due to their contributions in World War 1, they still
were controlled by their dominant male counterparts. By 1917, most provinces in Canada, with the
exception of Quebec and the maritime provinces, officially allowed women to vote and by 1919,
women were even given the right to be part of the parliament. Though women could vote and take part
in the parliament, only a few of them were elected to office. Ultimately, society still viewed women to
be inferior to men. They served as helpers in the work force and were rarely allowed to make
decisions. They occupied

The Wines Of Spain ( California )
The Wines of Spain
During my young and foolish years, I was a confirmed wine snob; at least as it applied to the red
wines I drank. If they didn?t come from Bordeaux, France, I didn?t consider them worthy. Typically,
my purchases would feature wines from M?doc, Margaux, Pauillac, Saint Emilion, Pomerol and
Graves. This all changed in my late forties, I was gifted with several bottles of red wine from various
countries including Australia, Chile and the United States (California). Begrudgingly, I accepted the
fact that good red wine needn?t come from France.
This oenophilia did not preclude my consumption of ?inferior? wines; it merely dispatched them to a
list of wines I would never consider buying for myself. I assumed that if I couldn?t ... Show more

Nevertheless, despite my experience in Colorado, I did start expanding my horizons with red wines
until my forties.
I had learned of the pleasures of the red wines from Piedmont, Italy. The incredible richness of
Australian Shiraz proved it as an acceptable alternative to its Rhone Valley cousin. However, it took
another experience with Rioja in my early fifties to start my exploration of Spanish wines.
Overview
To do justice to the subject of Spanish wines requires more than a single post, coverage befitting the
third largest producer of wine, behind France and Italy, simply cannot be done within the limits of a
single short article and summarization does a disservice to the exceptional wine making reputation of
Spain?s dedicated vintners.
Any worthwhile discussion of Spain?s wine making needs to include, at a minimum, an overview of
the wine making regulations, under which vintners operate, the labeling requirements and what that
means that means to consumers. After ?lo these concepts are covered, a discussion of the wine
growing areas, the grape varietals and the resulting wines produces a sharper picture of Spain?s wines.
A Brief Historical Perspective
Spain has been growing grapes and making wine for centuries, with traditions as reputable as from
any of the other European wine countries. However, the events of the past few decades, from the
1980s until now have resulted in something of a revolution in

Essay On Eczema
Eczema is a medical condition in which patches of skin become rough and inflamed, with blisters that
cause itching and bleeding, sometimes resulting from a reaction to irritation but more typically having
no obvious external cause.Atopic dermatitis (known as eczema) is an inherited, chronic inflammatory
skin condition that usually appears in early childhood. Patches of skin become red, scaly and itchy.
The exact cause of eczema is unknown, but it s thought to be linked to an overactive response by the
body s immune system to an irritant. It is this response that causes the symptoms of eczema. In
addition, eczema is commonly found in families with a history of other allergies or asthma. It is also
important to avoid skin irritants, such as soap, hot water and synthetic fabrics.Everyday things in your

Napoleon Bonaparte like many others rose to prominence during the turbulent times of the French

However his reputation as a skilled tactician and strategist enabled him to initially capitalize on the
reforms of the French Revolution to improve the lives of French citizens. Napoleon Bonaparte

He referred to his tactics thus: I have fought sixty battles and I have learned nothing which I did not
know at the beginning. Look at Caesar; he fought the first like the last. His decision to record his
exploits through two newspapers he founded for the army and circulation in France earned him wide
critical acclaim. But again he was known to sacrifice military glory in favour of preserving his
position, as shown by negotiations in Austria and the treaty of Campio Formio in response to Barras
and the French republican allies in control of the French government becoming dependent on
Bonaparte following the Coup of 18 Fructidor in order to depose the French royalists who feared
Napoleon was becoming a dictator. It was not unlucky that this happened, as Napoleon handled the
situation effectively and was able to continue his quest for power.
His capacity as a strategist in military campaign against nations hostile to France continued to shine
when he conceived an expedition into Egypt in order to seize it and thereby undermine Britain s

with one another as opposed to interacting in the individual couples. Since the play is named cul de
sac I assumed that there would be more interaction from the cul de sac all together other than the few
awkward encounters. I think I thought that the play was missing a climax. I am not sure when the
climax or the height of the play was reached. I think that the lack of a climax comes from the

that there was just a lot going on and a lot of inferences that had to be made, which took away from
the actors. I also did not like how it seemed that the scenes with the couples were supposed to be
happening simultaneously and it seemed like the day was starting over every time a new couple would
take the stage. I wish there was a more fluid way those scenes could have been run where you could
see the Joneses dancing while the Smith s were taking the breaks in between the argument. When the

smith scene they were ordering dinner and the lights seemed dim. It wasn t until Mr. Smith made the
comment about making the salmon until I realized it was still that same day, just being shown from a
different house. Again I wish there was a way the audience could have at least seen a small portion of
the two couples simultaneously just to give the audience an idea of the time frame. Also I felt like half

Collecting Coins Vs Stacking Bullion
Collecting Coins vs Stacking Bullion
Bullion (noun) physical precious metal valued by its content, weight, and market price.
Bullion Coin (noun) a coin struck and guaranteed by a government mint with a legal tender face value,
comprised of precious metal and kept as a store of value rather than used in day to day commerce.
A bullion coin typically sells for a premium (higher price) over the precious metal s spot price on
global commodities exchanges. Reasons include their comparative small size(s) to large 1,000 and 400
oz bullion bars and the costs associated with their manufacture, storage, and distribution. Bullion coin
sizes can vary from as small at 1 gram to a record breaking 1 tonne (32,150 troy ounces) weight.
The amount of a gold coin s premium for example (its price over the fluctuating spot price for gold)
also varies depending on the coin s type, weight, and the precious metal content. A gold collector coin
premium is also affected by prevailing supply and demand factors amongst coin collectors and coin
stores.
Bullion Round (noun) a coin like item struck by a private bullion mint, comprised of precious metal
and kept as a store of value rather than used in day to day commerce.

Gun Ownership And Crime Essay
The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of gun ownership on crime rates within a
population. In the United states Gun ownership is at an all time low. The percent of households
owning one or more guns went from 42 percent in 1993 down to 31 percent in 2014 (Smith Son,

According to the UCR (2010), from 1993 to 2012 violent crime rates per 100,000 have gone from
747.1 to a low of 747.1. While correlation does not equal causation and there are far too many

have changed in accordance with laws that have been passed. A comparison will also be taken at
places with the most lenient gun laws to contrast crime rates. The hypothesis of this paper is when gun
ownership of law abiding citizens exceeds that of criminals, both violent and non violent crimes

Normandy Invasion Research Paper
The Normandy Invasion may have been the single most important battle on the Western Front of
World War II. Much planning went into the siege of these beaches that ensured a tough, but inevitable
victory, as well as other factors, such as the exploitation of the Germans ignorance of the attack. The
Allied Forces took much time in plotting the invasion of the beaches of Normandy, France to establish
a sure victory, as they d be sacrificing many troops and resources. They also skillfully and masterfully
concocted a planned hoax by deciding they would place dummy landing sites all around the eastern

The whole war had led up to this day, especially since the plans for the invasion were being made
even as early as 1942 or 1943, after the Soviet Union requested help to relieve pressure on their
military in Eastern Europe following the Battle of Stalingrad, where they and Romania lost over
250,000 men combined. The thoughts of a soldier who had been fighting all throughout World War II
would have probably consisted of, one, wanted to go home already, but two, thinking that nothing
could be worse than what they had already experienced. They knew in their minds that they were
ready for this mission, and had the plans of the military backing up their claims of definite victory. A
soldier would, of course, hold their personal doubts and fright, but when counted among many fellow
troops willing to fight for the same cause as their own, they can t help but feel the collective morale of
their comrades and themselves. This personal morale was only boosted by the genius work of WWII s
commanders skills in speech. The day before the actual attack, General Eisenhower gave his men a
motivational speech they d never forget. An excerpt from the speech: Soldiers, sailors, and airmen of

Nnedi Okorafor Mbachu and Phoebe Robinson, through their respective books Zahrah the Windseeker
and You Can t Touch My Hair: And Other Things I Still Have to Explain, eloquently tackle the ways
their characters recognize and overcome the fear of the unknown through word choice and character
development. In her book, Zahrah the Windseeker, Nnedi Okorafor Mbachu does not waste any time
and explicitly states in the preface that it is a general fear of the unknown that plagues the entire
society of the Ooni Kingdom (Okorafor). Okorafor s use of the word plague utilizes the negative

Due to the fact being dada is so rare and no one else from her hometown is dada, the townspeople fear
Zahrah because they do not know or understand what it means to be dada and what separates them
from normal people. As a part of the bullying, people call Zahrah names like: Vine head, snake lady,
swamp witch, and freak (Okorafor 3). Despite initially believing the vicious nicknames and allowing
those words to define her, Zahrah overcomes her submission to society s perception of her and
embraces her hair, as well as her other dada qualities. In the end, after completing her quest and saving
her best friend, Zahrah stands before a mirror and studies herself: I look at myself in the mirror, my
dark brown skin, my dada hair... I looked into my own eyes and smiled when I saw the new glint in
them (Okorafor 277). A new glint in her eyes represents a new perspective of herself; a perspective
that is not defined by society s fear of her. For Zahrah, it took going on an incredibly dangerous and
nearly impossible mission in order to accept herself and to shake people s fear of the unknown. She
now has confidence in herself and believes in herself. Similarly, Robinson deals with this same issue
of facing other the fear of the unknown, however she deals with the problem in a more realistic
manner. Phoebe Robinson deals with white people s fear of her natural hair. As mentioned earlier,
Robinson clearly recognizes this fear, and writes in her book, when something

perspective in the course of refuting the arguments of Shermer. In what follows, this essay is an

There are two separate parts of the debate in respect of the issue of afterlife. In the first place, Michael

Shermer claims that the idea of afterlife or paradise are shaped and reshaped by the human mind to

Shermer points out that it is impossible to have a world after death or any out of the body paradise. To
strengthen his argument, Shermer restates the argument that there is no afterlife since [paradise] is in
our thoughts and in our actions. It is in our lives and in our loves. It is in our families and in our
friends. It is in our communities and in our world. It is in the courage of our convictions and in the

arguments made by Shermer and afterlife is about consciousness in the second place. He argues that
afterlife is not from imaginations and it is a state of awareness by citing the modern near death

Picc Line Occlusions
Problem if interest
PICCs lines have become well recognized as reliable central venous access devices (VADs), with
lower potential for complications than short term central venous catheters. PICCs first gained
popularity in the 1980s, and their use has grown steadily since then. They were initially popular in
many parts of the United States due to the need for venous access in home care patients. They have
grown in popularity because of their reduction in potential complications and costs compared with
short term central venous catheters, and because PICCs can be inserted by registered nurses who have
been trained in the procedure. It is calculated that 25% of all line occlusions are caused by
intraluminal thrombus. These occlusions lead to late or missed treatments and expose the patient to
increased risks and costs associated with restoring venous access. PICC occlusion occurs when a

Healing Emotional Trauma Research Paper
Healing emotional trauma
Emotional wounds are as real as physical bleeding wounds, and can affect every aspect of your life.
You are at risk, regardless if you are a direct victim or somehow exposed to extreme, unpredictable
and uncontrollable life threatening events such as war, natural disasters, accidents, rape, physical or
sexual assault, kidnapping, domestic violence, workplace or school bullying, physical or emotional
abuse.
PTSD ASD, STS and AD, are clinical conditions associated with traumatic events or post traumatic
stress. Although most people associate these conditions with extreme life threatening situations, not
everyone with a form of traumatic stress has been through such dangerous events.
Even though the emotional trauma seems to be a highly individual experience, trans generational
PTSD like or hereditary trauma and behavioral patterns may be transmitted across generations through
the process of parental epigenetic programming. Thus, traumatic experiences can be passed down
from generation to generation, such that children 6 years and younger may suffer from preschool

The main purpose of this project is to know about the inventory system of this restaurant. The purpose
is to look at the issues in the inventory, and to provide them with the best possible solution.
Target System Inventory Management
Papa Goose is both a restaurant and bar so it is necessary that the inventory of both the ingredients of
the restaurant and the liquor of the bar. They are currently using a manual setup for holding the
records of the inventory of both the restaurant and the bar. It is necessary that they use proper
inventory system and keep it computerized.
Perpetual Inventory System/Weekly Based
I would prescribe them to do a weekly control on their ingredients and the liquor. The weekly
inventory check would give the manager a weekly check of the requirements needed in the inventory.
This would help in identifying and solving the potential or upcoming problems of relating to the
inventory. Perpetual inventory system would be necessary in the case of Papa Goose Restaurant Bar,
the amount of the raw material such as meat and all the other important ingredients required could be
collected and then all that has been bought could be entered in the computer, in the spreadsheet the
correct quantity could be removed when it is used. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We would provide them with all the basic knowledge of how to keep the data on the computer. The
computerized data would also help them to keep a backup of their data. The perpetual inventory
system would make the work error free, and also less chances of

The Anxiety of Self Presentation in Bridget Jones s Diary
The book is about the anxiety of self presentation; Bridget is both Everywoman and an implicitly
ironic observer of Everywoman. (New Yorker) Helen Fielding writes about the anxiety of self
presentation in Bridget Jones s Diary. The New Yorker accurately identifies this central theme.
Moreover, it correctly asserts that Bridget s search for meaning and order in her life exemplifies
Everywoman. However, the New Yorker credits her with a far more heightened self awareness than
she possesses. Bridget is not an observer but a reporter. Observing suggests wisdom, often attained
through detachment, but Bridget remains in the thick of it usually blind to ... Show more content on

The whole performance is so highly tuned you only need to neglect if for a few days for the whole
thing to go to seed (27).
Bridget has turned grooming into a science. Not only does sweat over aesthetic adjustments, but she
also considers her overall image, entertaining funny fantasies for the future. For example, when
Bridget thinks she s pregnant, she pictures Daniel rushing home from work, thrilled to find the two of
us pink and glowing in the bath, and, in years to come, being incredibly impressive at parent/teacher
evenings (100). Fielding creates irony here by highlighting the discrepancy between Bridget s idyllic
vision a premature plan to be an impressive parent and her neurotic behavior. Still, women can relate,
and the passage contributes to Fielding s development of Bridget as Everywoman. In laughing at
Bridget, readers laugh at themselves; it is easier to see the folly in another s lofty plan. Similarly,
Bridget often pictures Daniel and her living in the context of an ad, running along beaches together
with tiny offspring in manner of Calvin Klein ad, being trendy Smug Married (113) or sipping pints in
matching striped T shirts and watching the sun set over the sea (113, 121). These visions are
significant because of their fictional framework: Bridget

Louis Armstrong s Life, His Music And Influence On Others
The person I chose to do my project on is Louis Armstrong. I chose Louis Armstrong because I
wanted to do my project on a singer as well as a musician. I chose him because he was one of the few
people that I knew about, also because I did some research on him and listened to his music and I
thought that he was interesting to write about. My main three things that I m going to discuss about
Louis Armstrong will be his life, his music and influence on others. I m going to describe how and
where Louis Armstrong s grew up and how he started out his career as a trumpeter. I m also going to
write about how he went through life and how that affected him in the future. Lastly, I m going to
discuss with you how he had an influence on others. I m going to explain how he impacted the world
with his music and how that affected so many people to this day. Louis Armstrong made a great
impact in the world and I m going to teach you all about it.
According to biography.com, Louis Armstrong was born on August 4, 1901 in New Orleans,
Louisiana. He was born into a poor section of New Orleans, which was nicknamed The Battlefield.
Louis Armstrong had a tough childhood when he was growing up, his father was a factory worker that
had left Louis Armstrong s family after he was soon to be born. Louis Armstrong s mom was a
prostitute and she often left him at his maternal grandmother s house. Armstrong had to quit school in
the fifth grade because he needed to begin work to support himself. A

  • 2. How did the Second World War Affect Family Life in Britain... How did the Second World War Affect Family Life in Britain Between 1939 45? The Blitz comes from a German word meaning lightning. It was the sustained strategic bombing of the United Kingdom by Germany during the Second World War. Between 7 September 1940 and 21 May 1941 there were major raids (attacks in which more than 100 tons of high explosives were dropped) on 16 British cities. Over a period of 267 days (almost 37 weeks), London was attacked 71 times, Birmingham, Liverpool and Plymouth eight times, Bristol six, Glasgow five, Southampton four, Portsmouth three, and there was also at least one large raid on another eight cities. This was a result of a rapid escalation starting on 24 August 1940, when night bombers aiming for RAF ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We lads used to pray for raids during math classes because it meant a small diversion. We used to collect aluminum for the war effort. Old saucepans, frying pans anything used to be collected and when a truckload was achieved the authorities used to collect it, and it was used for building aircraft. The Germans used to drop hundreds of meters of foil strips called window to put a large amount of metal in the sky it confused our early and primitive radar into thinking there were a lot of aircraft coming. So our fighters would take off and go to attack, only to find it a false alarm, and be out of fuel when the main raid attacked elsewhere. Window was a favorite collection item. We thought it insane that Mr Hitler would send us all this aluminum for us to turn into aircraft to go and bomb him with. So even we kids were roped into the war effort. I remember one particular day Baggy Davis and I had tied a rope to a tail section of a downed German fighter aircraft, and with the help of about 6 other lads dragged it about 2 miles to school leaving silver streaks along the road as we went. We got extra points for our houses [teams] for such a large aluminum ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Mental Illness and Mass Shooting A series of shots being fired in the near distance can be heard. A crew of ambulances, police cars, and fire trucks are seen speeding down the streets while blaring their sirens to warn people to move out of the way rapidly. The new technology there is today in the 21st century can help detect mental illness and improve treatment. There is no real set way of detecting a mental illness other than examining the behavior of the person. A test that can be done on the brain is called a Computerized Tomography scan. A Computerized Tomography scan, or CT scan for short, basically takes many x rays at multiple angles of your head and brain in order to create a complete picture. CT scans can give more information than a normal x ray. It can help detect any injuries done to the head and brain as well as other traumas. These injuries and traumas done to the brain can lead to the cause of a mental illness. This advancement in technology has helped quite significantly in the 21st century. Not only can it provide more information, but the results can be obtained immediately. These results, unlike before in the late 20th century, involve more clear pictures of the object. With the 21st century technology improving the CT scan, more lives are able to be saved. Not only does the 21st century technology help improve the way an illness is detected, but it also improves the way a mental illness is treated. There are more, of course, but we have chosen major and consistent characteristic that follow false prophets. We must interject that many prophets are not false, but fleshly. They lack maturity, discipline, sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, and a strong knowledge of the written word of God. Many have not died to their flesh. Others sadly lack in humility and have allowed their gifts to exclude them from accountability. Furthermore, we must understand that we are all false at some time or another. No one is infallible except the Lord. The false prophet is one who has escape divine discipline and fallen headlong into the ditch of deception. Here is the Lord s warning concerning the emergence of the false prophets as His return approaches. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect (Matthew 24:11, 24). Let us make this point clear. If you are a true prophet of the Lord, you certainly will be called false at some point in your ministry. The servant is no greater than his master is. If they called our Lord false, a man perfect in every respect, then assuredly, you will be called the same. In 2007, 75% of nitrate violations in water in California happened in the San Joaquin Valley and the source of the increased nitrates in groundwater is most certainly from the large agribusiness in the valley. The United States Geological Survey concluded the agriculture was the main source of nitrate pollution in both ground and surface water as there is at least 6.6 million acres of irrigated crop land in the Valley and each acre creates about 80 pounds of nitrogen every year. Nitrogen is commonly found in pesticides and fertilizer and it seeps into the ground as nitrates. Animal waster is another byproduct of farms and about 1 to 2.5% of manure created by the Valley s 1.6 million dairy cows is nitrogen. Overall, fertilizers and animal waste applied to crops create 96% of nitrate contamination of drinking water in California. The 16Th And 17Th Centuries In England Are Marked By The The 16th and 17th centuries in England are marked by the great societal changes that emerged from the effects the Renaissance and Reformation had on ideas concerning religion, education and social order. In regard to these developments, it has been argued that the spiritual and educational standing of women had been elevated during this time, coupled also with the fact that this period saw the rule of three female monarchs, which arguably challenged and improved society s opinions and attitudes toward women. The ranking of existence also implied a hierarchy of genders as well, as women were thought to be created from man and responsible for mankind s fall from Eden. Moreover, an important feature of the Chain was that the top rank in every categorical division was also analogous to the top rank of every other division. Therefore, the father as head of the family, as with the king as the head of the kingdom, was analogous to God in the universe. Because fathers, and in turn the patriarchy, represented God and wielded his authority, they were understood to be the unquestioned ruler of their sphere of activity within the chain. An example of this kind of thought can be seen in a popular text called Of Domesticall Duties, written by an English clergyman William Gouge in 1622. In this conduct book on family life, Gouge declares, The husband is as a Priest unto his wife... God had created males and females to be equal, but this principle did not play out well back in the 1900s. Though women were given some respect due to their contributions in World War 1, they still were controlled by their dominant male counterparts. By 1917, most provinces in Canada, with the exception of Quebec and the maritime provinces, officially allowed women to vote and by 1919, women were even given the right to be part of the parliament. If they didn?t come from Bordeaux, France, I didn?t consider them worthy. Typically, my purchases would feature wines from M?doc, Margaux, Pauillac, Saint Emilion, Pomerol and Graves. This all changed in my late forties, I was gifted with several bottles of red wine from various countries including Australia, Chile and the United States (California). I had learned of the pleasures of the red wines from Piedmont, Italy. The incredible richness of Australian Shiraz proved it as an acceptable alternative to its Rhone Valley cousin. However, it took another experience with Rioja in my early fifties to start my exploration of Spanish wines. Overview To do justice to the subject of Spanish wines requires more than a single post, coverage befitting the third largest producer of wine, behind France and Italy, simply cannot be done within the limits of a single short article and summarization does a disservice to the exceptional wine making reputation of Spain?s dedicated vintners. Any worthwhile discussion of Spain?s wine making needs to include, at a minimum, an overview of the wine making regulations, under which vintners operate, the labeling requirements and what that means that means to consumers. After ?lo these concepts are covered, a discussion of the wine growing areas, the grape varietals and the resulting wines produces a sharper picture of Spain?s wines.
