The Great Depression Of Franklin D. Roosevelt
Coming off of a century of success and prosperity as a result of the new way of living, America
thought it was on top of the world and living the good life all until it underwent the catastrophic period
commonly known as the Great Depression. Beginning around the 1930s, the Great Depression is
probably one of the most significant economic downfalls in America that also ended up affecting the
global economy. Around 1933, about 14 millions American citizens saw unemployment, the national
income was over 50 percent down, and production of industrial goods dropped to one third of what it
was in 1929. In response to this time of devastation, Franklin D. Roosevelt took over from Herbert
Hoover as president in order to restore America to what it once was with his concept of the New Deal.
Roosevelt commenced a brand new way of American life as he focused on creating a social
democratic order, much like that of Western European nations. Additionally, the federal government
gained much more power as a whole, but more specifically in the economy. Roosevelt also aimed for a
greater sense of community by not trusting individualism and by providing aid to those in need.
Finally, he aimed towards restoring capitalism, not replace it. Through his implementations of the
New Deal, Roosevelt successful provided relief, recovery and reform from the deplorable effects
brought about by the Great Depression. So what actually caused such a difficult time in American
history? The national

Anger Is A Type Of Emotion
Many people ask the question of What anger is? Today in the 21st century people deal with anger and
do not know how to deal with it. Before dealing with anger you would have to know what causes
anger and what to do when others deal with anger. According to Think Psychology anger is an
emotion is a reaction to an object, event, person or memory (Baird, 194). Anger is a type of emotion,
which is experienced with facial expressions. Anger is a type of emotion, which is a primary emotion.
Some influences of an emotional expression are someone s personality, their culture which anger is
universal, or their gender.
Those who deal with anger it are normal for then to have stress when angry. Many people describe
anger as strong passion or emotion of displeasure (Chapman, Ch.1). Anger is neither a good or bad
emotion. There are other emotions like fear and depression that cause someone to feel angry. When
someone feels anger it can involve both the body and the mind.
A popular quote from Aristotle about anger is Anyone can become angry. That is easy. But to be angry
with the right person to the right degree, at the right time for the right purpose, and in the right way:
that is not easy. (Chapman, Ch.1). It is not easy for someone to be angry with someone or something
and at the same time have the same person make you angry.
The main reason that causes anger can be wither from stress, financial issues, social and family issues,
drugs and alcohol abuse or from aggressive

Cloud Computing Is Becoming The Most Popular And Key Service
Since the 2000s, cloud computing has become the most phenomenal IT service in the IT industry. It
changed the whole IT industry upside down. Cloud computing is becoming the most popular and key
service that is offered by many IT service providers including, Amazon, Google, Salesorce.com.
(Leong, 2014) These companies top specialists in cloud computing. In addition to cloud computing,,
leading traditional ERP service providers, such as IBM, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, and Net Suite (Li,
2014) also provide their ERP software as Software as a Service.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a business management software that allows an organisation to
integrate data across all of their applications. This assists them to manage the business process and
automate the functions related to technology. (Motiwalla et. al., 2012) On premises was the only ERP
deployment method until cloud ERP came along. On premises deployment methods are internally
hosted and maintained by the company. They involve a high initial investment, if the organisation
doesn t have an IT department or IT experts. They have to invest money for IT departments/staff
training, and maintaining the ERP system, which includes hardware, servers, and networks. When an
ERP upgrade comes, IT department has to redeploy their ERP according to their previous
customisation. This process is time consuming and requires a hugheffort, if the upgradeto the ERP is
to be successful. Because of these reasons, most Small and

The Mayor s Revenge It was a dark night in the City of Carnage, the city was polluted with trash,
there was unfair rights, and a bad environment. Walter, a skinny but smart person had just turned

the election. Suddenly, Walter woke up in the middle of the night and heard what sounded to be a bolt
of lightning. He shrieked, What was that. That s when he saw a bomber plane dropping radioactive
bombs. He had gathered up everybody and had evacuated everyone. A girl from the orphanage named

Importance Of Citadel In Beowulf
First question: What the heck is a citadel? A citadel is basically a type of fortress on high ground that
is heavily fortified to protect its city. The walls were seven to thirty feet in thickness and typically
thirty to forty feet high (Kalif 1). This helped the walls provide a solid defense. The Citadel had many
parts to it to provide a solid defense against an invasion force. The keep, or citadel, was perched at the
top of the hill, looking down on the city it protects and helping keep a lookout for enemies. Well, what
are the parts of the citadel? The wall is the first defense. This separated the citadel into three parts:
city, military and noblemen, and the keep. They typically had arrow slits for archers to shoot out of,

Benefits Of Hippotherapy
The Benefits of Hippotherapy There are many different types of treatments that have been
experimented with to treat different disorders or diseases. A very unique example of this is
hippotherapy. Hippotherapy is the use of a horse as a treatment tool for physical, occupational, and
speech therapy (McGraw). The term hippotherapy comes from the Greek word hippos, which means
horse. There have been records of people using horseback riding as a therapeutic treatment strategy
since ancient Greece. More recently, the use of horseback riding has been used for rehabilitation of
people with physical disabilities since 1875. As the use of horses for therapy began to grow,
therapeutic riding centers began to form in the United States, Canada, and Europe ... Show more

There are many social or emotional benefits that they can gain from this treatment strategy as well.
The children who are engaged in these activities are able to express themselves to the horse and
possibly even the therapist they are working with. They have no fear of rejection from the horse, and
therefore feel that they can speak or act however they want. ...animals are an important instrument for
developing social skills in children. Through their interactions with animals, children can obtain
knowledge of values and attitudes from the animals (Granados; Agís). The children with special needs
that are receiving this treatment won t be as isolated as other special needs kids usually are and they
sometimes have to form relationships with the helpers during their sessions in order to be able to
communicate with the horse. This will improve their social skills immensely. They can also learn
socially acceptable ways to express their feelings around the animal and get certain responses or

The Third And Last Pillar Of The German Banking System Essay
Commercial Banks The third and last pillar of the German banking system consists of commercial
banks also known in the third pillar as the market discipline. The third pillar gives out more public
disclosure and reporting requirements, compared to the other two pillars, with its increased
transparency. The amount of this increased disclosure is for giving the public and also the global
market a more comprehensible vision of where the bank stands in terms of risk. (Feig) With Universal
banks being the more common type, responsible for about 75 % of all transactions carried out in the
banking sector, these banks offer a greater amount of financial services and are more varied than
services of the specialized banks. These commercial banks offer typical banking services such as
setting up and watching over clients checking and savings accounts, process their payments, lending
money to clients, and as well as issuing bonds to clients. As of today, there lies roughly about 300
private banks all throughout Germany. It was only until the crisis in 2008 where five major banks used
to dominate the whole entire private sector. These five banks were Hypovereinsbank, Deutsche
Postbank AG, Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, and Dresdner Bank. Those five banks are more
internationalized than any other banks in the private sector that primarily focus on business clients and
the markets fluctuation activities. (Hassan) During the crisis in 2008, the bigger banks that Germany

Freedom In George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty-Four
Ludwig von Mises once stated, Freedom can only be won by men unconditionally committed to the
principles of freedom (Mises 95). Throughout George Orwell s novel, Nineteen Eighty Four, the
protagonist, Winston Smith, is caught between the bounds of his individual perception of freedom and
society s contrasting reality. While much of the society around him mindlessly follows the Party and
Big Brother, Winston finds himself stopping to question what makes mankind free. As he begins to see
the truths in the world around him, he is placed in a conflict with the Party s interests and with Big
Brother. The propaganda that surrounds the capitulation towards Big Brother and his absolute power is
the basis of Orwell s theme regarding the dangers of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

if there is any hope of defeating The Party, it must be a widespread revolution that starts with the
average citizens of Oceania, also known as the proles. He finds, however, that any rebellion of the
proles is unlikely, as Winston writes in his own journal, Until they become conscious they will never
rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious (Orwell, Nineteen Eighty Four

the conflict between Winston and The Party, because he feels that he needs to work to help rebel
against this oppression and to do his part in order to take down Big

The Go-Between
The Go Between
The story The Go Between is a short story written by Ali Smith in 2009. The story was written for a
collection of short stories written to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the United Nations adoption of
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The story is inspired by Article 13, which stands for the
right to freedom of movement.
In the story we read about a 33 year old man who s name is not revealed. The 33 year old man is a
former microbiologist and has worked in a university. In the text we follow this man who gives the
reader a directly insight in how it s like to be an African refugee trying to cross the border between

I speak these, and also some others. (P.3, ll.31 32) Even with all these qualifications it is not possible
for the narrator to enter Europe. He is simply limited because of his origin and the color of his skin.
The narrator feels that he and the other refugees are invisible and not wanted, it s almost like he doesn
t exist. A flower will be planted for every single person in Tangier. But not us. Not me. I m not here...I
m speaking to you and I m not really here. (P.5, l.116 118)
The refugees wish so desperately to enter Europe that the narrator describes it as the Spanish
blindness. From the coast of Morocco you are able to see the lights from Spain and the Spanish border
and all the refugees can think of is how much they want to leave Morocco and enter Europe. The
refugees also pay all their money to a Network that promises them a boat, but the Network only takes
advantage of the desperate refugees so the boat never arrives. All the men in this building suffer from
it, Spanish Blindness. All you can see is Spain. All you can think is Spain tonight, Spain tonight. They
have paid all their money to the Network, and the Network has prom ised a boat, maybe tonight. This
boat never comes. (P.4, l.73 75) The narrator claims that he does not have this Spanish blindness
anymore, that belongs to the past and he actually says that he wishes he could go back, but that s not a
possibility, he have to move forward. My

For my observation, I went and visited Ivor Dent school, Ivor Dent is the new school that has opened
near Abbottsfield, Edmonton. The school was named after a man named Ivor Dent, he is most well
known for opening the LRT system, however he was also the principal of Rundle School in 1980. This
is important to note, since Ivor Dent opened three other schools in the neighbourhood were closed,
Rundle elementary school, Lawton elementary and R.J. Scott Junior high. Due to the mix of the three
schools Ivor Dent welcomes kids from kindergarten all the way to grade nine, this year they have had
423 students enroll. This school has been built in a low income community and is labelled as an inner
city school. To meet the extraordinary needs of all their students Ivor dent offers regular classroom
programs, behavioral and learning assistance program and full day kindergarten. Ivor Dent is based on
the four corner stones that all Edmonton public schools follow: equity, accountability, collaboration,
and integrity. While at Ivor Dent I visited with Amber Casali, she is one of the full day kindergarten
teachers. She shared with me some of the new challenges she is facing being in a new school. Amber
is used to being the only kindergarten teacher in the school, she is used to having two washrooms for

comparisons with numeric values and trends in data within literature are applicable. The results which

increased force of contraction, which the amplitude demonstrates, through electrical activation

History Channel Series Modern Marvels
It takes more than just an army to keep America s military and personnel operating 365 days a year at
100%, it also takes an air force and navy. The task for getting supplies, soldiers, Marines and sailors to
where they are needed in the world falls to the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and
its components which is truly a herculean feat. The History Channel series Modern Marvels featured
USTRANSCOM in season 17 episode 11 which covered packaging and the technology and creativity
that it takes to create and sustain movement of all types of items and people. In the episode the series
highlighted all three major subcommands of USTRANSCOM; Air Mobility Command, Military
Sealift Command and Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Center. Having served four years
active duty in the U.S. Navy directly after September 11, 2001 and now serving in the U.S. Navy
Reserves and just recently returning from a deployment overseas to the Horn of Africa I have had

What Is Shamanism
Defining the term shamanism is a difficult task, as to this day there exists no single agreed on
definition among anthropologists. Therefore, this paper will attempt at creating its own definition
applicable to the findings discussed, in order to eliminate any confusion. Etymologically, the word
shaman is derived from the Evenki word šamán, which is thought to relate to the Tungus root ša ,
meaning to know. The Russians adopted the term after hearing it used by Tungusian tribes when they
conquered eastern Siberia in the second half of the 20th Century. Thereafter, the word spread to
western Europe via the Dutch, after accompanying a Russian Embassy to China.
It was first used by western anthropologists to describe the ancient religion ... Show more content on

In Shamanic rituals, psychoactive substances are used as entheogens; drugs used in religious contexts
to enter the trance, previously discussed. Shamans from diverse cultures even speak of opening a hole

consciousness, allowing the user to understand the greater context of his existence. Thereby, the
shaman can release his personal emotions and biases, as they become irrelevant in the grand scheme
he witnesses. However, there lies a distinction between recreationally using a drug and doing so in a
Shamanic ritual. The words and songs the shaman sings when preparing and taking the drug in, cause
the drug to become more powerful due to the union created between the shaman and the plant spirit. It
is believed that while power animals are available to anyone, plant spirits only help shamans.
Additionally, the music, which accompanies Shamanic rituals allows the shaman to avoid frightening

Escher tessellation is called, reptiles which is actually a tessellation inside of another drawing. In this
drawing, there is a tessellation drawn on the table, made up of lizards. Then, the lizards appear to be
coming out of the drawing and wrap around back into the tessellation. This tessellation is made up of
many geometric shapes; such as many circles, squares and triangles, but the main geometric figures
used to create this tessellation are thousands of dots and lines. This drawing is a mezzotint which is
made by hatching, layering lines and dots. The mathematics behind this certain tessellation can get
pretty complicated. Escher s work mainly involves the mathematics of the geometry of space and
planes. In this tessellation, it is evident how the planes change as the lizards go into the tessellation

Today s Youth and Technology In today s world, technology is heavily relied on throughout
businesses, homes, schools and many other fields of importance. Technology has made an impact, not
only on today s society, but more and more on today s youth. Many kids come into contact with
technology at a young age and are usually more technologically intelligent than adults. They are
practically teaching the adults how to use technology, today s youth has grown up with technology
their whole life making it easy for them to learn and grow with the the technology rather than learn it

Because suicide has become such a problem from cyber bullying, there has been federal and state laws
put into place to try and prevent kids from taking their own lives. In our research about 85% of the
time, the target knows who the bully is, and it s usually somebody from their social circle (Patchin).
When the bully is from their social circle, it tends to hurt the individual even more. They can t take
their problems to their friends because, sometimes, those are the people who are bullying. Explicit text
messages or better known as sexting has evolved through the use of technology. Sexting is affecting
teens lives in a negative way. One in five teens admit to sending sexually explicit photos or messages
with their cell phones and twice as many reported receiving sexting messages and photos (Mooney

spread across the school or even throughout the town in an instant, reaching anyone and everyone.
Once those messages are exposed, many teens begin to harass or make fun of the messages or pictures
causing emotional problems such as insecurity for the victim. Emotionally sexting can take a toll on a
person, especially if it backfires and gets into the wrong hands, says Dr. Johnson physiatrist at the

Focusing on Global Thinking
Due to the recent economic crisis, it is time to rethink corporate strategy, especially as it applies to the
global environment. In 2009, the value of international trade was expected to decline by as much as
9%. Foreign Direct investment fell 15% in 2008 and another 40% in 2009. This article is predicting a
rough decade to come with weak global growth, pressures from overcapacity, persistently high
unemployment, volatility in the financial markets, costlier capital, a greatly expanded role from
governments, a much larger burden of regulation and taxation for all, and maybe even increased
protectionism. (Ghemawat 56) These are exactly the types of things the business world must begin to

Although the top 15 metropolitan areas represent more than a third of the US market, Wal Mart only
has a 4% share in them, compared with 10% of the national market. (57) The current business
environment has also seen a shift toward lower pricing market wide. This trend will become especially
pronounced as companies expand into poorer markets. As multinationals continue their global
expansion efforts, it will be important to not only tailor strategy to local markets but also individual
products and services. This section highlights a very important topic as it points out the current focus
on the urban elite. The urban elite make up a relatively insignificant portion of potential customers
worldwide. If companies can find a way to serve even the poorest of customers, growth potential
would be practically unlimited and success all but guaranteed. The focus on lower pricing is an
interesting and rather amusing point. Companies like Wal Mart who have been chastised for their
efforts to continually cut prices at all costs may, and more than likely have helped the global economy
in the long run when it comes to cost cutting efforts because companies Wal Mart deals with have
already started to focus on how to be as cheap as possible. Several factors, including the need to
reduce global trade imbalances, the rise of protectionism, and concerns about the environment, are
causing companies to seemingly blindly rush to offshore and outsource as much as

Cost Estimation And Cost Analysis
Cost estimation challenges can be well addressed through adopting the following set of strategic
approach. The key steps undertaken during the given process drives right cost estimation and those
actions are as follows:
 Documenting assumptions and best estimations: the assumptions can be documented in advance
and ensuring that best estimations is done using the right technique. There are various methods of
effort estimation and cost analysis however the right one should be selected on basis project
complexity and requirement. The documentation of assumptions can also help define clear scope for
the project that need to be achieved.
 Activity quantification: all process steps and their related activities need to be quantified in
advance. The quantification to be done primarily on basis of human recourse requirement, technical
requirements, and effort needed to manage project complexity and other key factors.
 Detailing out cost factors: the major cost factors for the project like labour and non labour elements
need to be analysed in advance. The deliverable against each cost factors should be determined while
aligning other key costs like overheads, inflation should be done accordingly.
 Setting up logic between cost and activities: the logical process between the cost factors and related
activities need to be established so that right rationalizes to do cost estimation correctly.

Colorectal Cancer Synthesis Essay
Screening for colorectal cancer is important for your health. There s a recommendation that people
over 50, particularly those with colon disease in their family history get screened however some
people just don t bother whilst others seem to test way too often. It is important to know when and
why to test.
Colorectal cancer is becoming an increasingly greater threat of death from cancer but if caught early
the survival rate increases about 90% so screening is very important as a diagnostic tool.
Colonoscopies are invasive procedures even though the risks are small. There can be bleeding, bowel
perforations or other complications especially if you are older however the advantage is that during a
colonoscopy the doctor can take a biopsy (a piece of tissue to look at in the lab), remove precancerous
polyps if they are there before they grow and spread. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A tube is used about the thickness of a finger and this tube is flexible. Through this tube the doctor can
examine the lining of the bowel much better than from an x ray.
Polyps are small growths on the lining of the bowel. They don t need to be cancerous. Removal of
them is called a polypectomy and is done by putting a wire through the instrument and severing the
polyp at the base with a small, painless electric current. If these are removed early enough they don t
become cancerous so this procedure is a way of protecting against colon cancer. Usually after a couple
of days patients can begin to follow a normal routine.
Some doctors recommend that it is wise to repeat colonoscopies every five years in patients with
previous exposure to cancer whilst others feel the test is needed more frequently. Knowing when to

We believe that the use of metrics and the creation of a Vitality Index is an important step forward in

Executive Summary:
This report puts together a workbook with each version and summary comparison for the August 28th
meeting or work with Bishop Schol and others before the meeting. This comparison should be viewed
as a first draft and for comparison and review only. As we continue to update the index we strive for
new concepts and to make it easier. Thus, we research, reflect, refine, and redefine. As we move
through these steps we wish for input and guidance from all.
Two models were proposed. First, the original 2010 model which has been continually edited,
henceforth referred to as TowersWatson, breaks the vital measures into standardized quartiles. Due to
the complexity of this model, an additional model was created. Bishop Schol s model, now referred to
as Schol, simplifies the index into basic calculations. More details about these models will be
explained and analyzed below.
A comparison between the two models showcases the stark variation between high vitality. Within the
Schol model over twenty thousand churches are considered highly vital; however, in the TowerWatson
model less than nine thousand churches are considered highly vital. Moreover, there are variations
among growth and expense factors.
Schol model considers medium sized churches vital, while larger churches are typically medium vital.
Conversely, TowerWatson model s missional and financial variables increase from best to worse
relative to the vitality scale. For

How Prison Life Really Works Essay
How prison life really works Prison life is much harsher than jail. In prison you stay inside until you
are done with your sentence or until you die; jail is nothing compared to prison. Each prisoner is
locked out from the outside world. Each inmate is in there for different crimes they have committed
outside and inside the prison. It is very interesting to see how the inmates survive in prison and how
they adapt to their new lives because in prison they are blocked from the outside world. The inmates
don t exist to the people on the outside anymore. Violence is a big part of the problem in prison
because everywhere in prison someone gets hurt. The weaker inmates get sexually harassed by the

The violence between the inmates is brutal. Some inmates use violence to show others that they are
the strongest and that they are in charge of the whole prison and other inmates that are under their
protection. They take control of everything that is going on inside the prison. In the article of
Enforcing the Convict Code: Violence and Prison Culture, it talks about how violence in prison differs
between women and men, For instance, while both women and men used violence to control the
behavior of others, men tended to use it more often while women tended to use rumors , gossip, and
avoidance to deal with bothersome inmates. The inmates use violence to gain control of the prison.
Violence happens when inmates talk or say terrible things about each other. To a large extent there is
violence between the inmates because either they don t get along with each other, or they can t trust
one another. In the article of Enforcing the Convict Code: Violence and Prison Culture by Rebecca
Trammell, mates understand violence as a social process the inmates only understand that violence is a
process that they have to live with, it is their life to survive this process and follow it. Inmates only
know how to use violence to control the environment in the prison and the behavior as well. In the

MPAA Rating System Essay examples
In 1968 Jack Valenti, the president of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), established
the Classification and Ratings Administration (CARA) in an effort to reduce the amount of
objectionable material in film. Before 1968, the MPAA required that all films follow the guidelines of
the Production Code. The Production Code stipulated what was and was not appropriate to appear in
films. In 1966, the MPAA elected Jack Valenti president and he changed the code to a rating system

Since film director, Steven Spielberg, introduced the PG 13 rating in 1984, ratings creep has infected
films. Ratings creep allows material such as perverse language or mature content that would appear in

movies with ratings of G, PG, and PG 13, which are unrestricted for child audiences, have included
increasing amounts of adult content . . . across the past decade (Potts and Belden 267). In PG 13 rated

objectionable to creep into films of that era. Because of the digression of the Production Code the

lord said to Solomon, since this has been your mind and you have not kept my covenant and my

portrays the monarchy as corrupt, improper and always bringing calamity to the people. Hosea uses
his marriage to a prostitute as a means of preaching to the people of Northern Israel. God commanded
Hosea to marry a prostitute named Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim, his Israel past figured

mammography has remained the main examination of BC screening throughout the world. Adequate

Arthritis Case Study
From the ward you are practicing in choose an operation that was done to patient for whom you have
given nursing care. From your experience describe the indications and purpose for this operation and
the salient post operative nursing care.
Arthritis is one of the leading causes of femoral fractures especially in the elderly. It may also be
caused by trauma or injury, starting from simple falls to more extensive such as a fall from height.
Indeed, a femoral fracture affects hip movement as it forms the ball and socket joint. Those of who
have a fractured hip should seek treatment immediately since it can damage surrounding tissue, alter
physical mobility and, therefore, affect the quality of life. When mobility is likely to be altered ...

These include large skin incisions, more extensive soft tissue dissection, a higher requirement for
blood transfusions, and a prolonged stay in hospital (Schwartsmann et al., 2014). In a research study
done by Garg, Marimuthu, Kumar, Malhotra Kotwal, 2011 they reported that post operative
mobilisation was related to bone quality and fracture reduction, and the position of the implant within
the femoral head. Garg et al., 2011 emphasizes on the fact that patients who have had proximal

Analysis Of Oedipus The King
Oedipus Cursing His Son, Polynices is a great work of art created by Henry Fuseli, in 1786. This
painting was created in Fuseli s homeland, Zurich, Switzerland. This painting has a powerful and
dramatic purpose to it, and is very interesting to look at.
The media of this painting is oil on canvas, and the paint is used loosely. The loose brushy style of the
paint gives off the style of impressionism that brings the painting together. There is great historical
and cultural context on this painting that refers to Greek mythology. Henry Fuseli s dramatic painting
depicts an ancient Greek tragedy, King Oedipus discovered a horror that he murdered his father and
married his mother. Oedipus blinded himself in contrition; Upset at his sons, Oedipus forced them to
die in battle by each other s hand. He extends his arms to curse them, while Polynices draws back in
shame and what is implied as pain from the curse.
As for background information on the artist himself, Fuseli was encouraged by Reynolds in 1768 to
become a painter. Fuseli traveled to Italy in 1770 to seek inspiration. Sculpture, Michelangelo, and
mannerist art inspired him. Fuseli initiated his reputation when he returned to London in 1780. He
dedicated most of his time and effort into paintings of Shakespearean themes, and became the leading
mind of a group of inventive and experimental young artists. He was later elected an Associate of the
Royal Academy of Arts in 1788, a full Academician in 1790, and Professor of

The Humanitarian Crisis in Chechnya
The situation in Chechnya is out of hand, a senseless echo of Stalin in a day where the expression of
such rank evil should not occur or be tolerated. An interview with a local Chechen refugee solidified
my understanding of the situation. However, meeting a survivor face to face also made the situation
seem more real and therefore much more painful. When asked to comment on the film Crying Sun,
my subject took a deep breath. This is just like what happened in our village, she said. There were land
mines everywhere. The paratroopers came a lot. Once we ran to the neighbor s house barefoot, just
like the woman in the movie said. They looted from our homes too. My cousins died. Many Chechens
have lived in their respective villages not just for generations, but for centuries. My interview subject
revealed her knowledge that many of her ancestors from a long time ago were Jewish, and that some
of the people trace their tribal lineage to the Biblical times. There is a sense of senselessness to the
killing that transcends rational thought. The so called rebels have been painted as terrorists by the
skillful propaganda machine; any rational analysis of the situation in Chechnya reveals the real truth.
As Rodrigue (2008) points out, Chechnya is important for the Russians because of access to strategic
oil reserves in the Caucasus. Although some of the Caucasus nations obtained their independence, like
Georgia and Armenia in the southern Caucasus, the new Russian

Analysis Of George Orwell s Orwell Essay
Born Erick Arthur Blair, Orwell disregarded his birth name and changed it to George Orwell. After
Orwell changed his name, he transitioned from a supporter of the British imperial to a literary political
rebel. Orwell lived in India in his younger years, and later attended a preparatory boarding school in
1911 on the Sussex Coast. Orwell did not come from a rich family but a hardworking family. His
mother was a French extraction in India and his father was a minor British official in the Indian Civil
Service. In preparatory school, Orwell was known to be a brilliant, poor student, and was treated
differently than the middle class students. Growing up, he was shy and an ill tempered boy who told
his stories through autobiographical essays and satire stories. In 1922, Orwell won two scholarships to
England s leading schools, Winchester and Eton. He chose to attend Eton, and once graduated, he
decided to follow his family s hardworking tradition. Parallel to his father, Orwell moved to Burma
and became an Assistant District Superintendent in the Indian Imperial Police. From boyhood, he
always wanted to become a writer, and with realization of the forced British Imperial Political System
amongst the Burmese people he felt ashamed of his position; therefore, Orwell expressed his
memories and reactions of imperial rule in his novel Burmese Days and autobiographical essays, A
Hanging and Shooting an Elephant, all classics of metrical exposer. In 1927, Orwell decided not

Middle Childhood Observation Essay
For my middle childhood observation I chose a 10 year old female by the name of Mycah Landry. Just
to give you a bit of a background, Mycah attends a magnet school and makes straight A s. She is a
very smart young girl. We will start off by comparing Mycah s physical development to that of Berger
s in the text. As documented in the text Unlike infants or adolescents, school age children s growth is
slow and steady. Self care is easy from brushing their new adult teeth to dressing themselves, from
making their own lunch to walking to school. In these middle years, children depend less on their
families and do not yet need to cope with the body changes and impulses of adolescence. Muscles
become steadily stronger. From my observation I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children apply their new reasoning skills to concrete situations that is, situations with visible, tangible,
real things. Children become more systemic, objective, scientific and educable. One logical concept is
classification, the organization of things into groups according to some characteristics that they share.
An experiment that Piaget conducted to reveal a children s understanding of classification is, and
examiner shows a child a bunch of nine flowers seven yellow daises and two white roses. The
examiner makes sure the child knows the words flowers, daises, and roses. Then comes the crucial:
Are there more daises or more flowers? I conducted the same experiment with Mycah and she
answered there are more flowers. So it is to my findings that Mycah has a clear understanding of
classification. Lastly I will be comparing Mycah s psychosocial development to that of Berger s
accounts. As explained in the text, steady growth, brain maturation, and intellectual advances make
middle childhood a time when children gain independence and autonomy. They acquire an increasing
ability to regulate themselves, to take responsibility, and to exercise self control all strengths that make
this a period of positive growth. As I stated earlier in my observation report I observed Mycah as
being very independent, and capable of taking responsibility for things. There is also a portion of the
text where Berger discusses friendship and social acceptance. I sat

Barrington Irving s Decision
It is important for people to make their own decisions in life. People would not be able to function if
they didn t have the ability to make decisions for themselves. Everyone learns from their mistakes and
grows as a human. You won t do very well in life if you don t take risks and make a decision for
yourself. Making a decision for yourself is a life skill you learn through making choices for yourself.
No one will ever be able to be independent in the real world. In the story, Barrington Irving, Pilot and
Educator the main character, Barrington Irving, made a decision to fly around the world independant.
But that wasn t the end of his journey, he decided to make a company teaching students about aviation
while in an airplane. When he decided that he was going to get a professional pilots license, he turned
down a full football scholarship to the University of Florida. No one made the decision for him, but
this goes further. In order to get money for flight school, Irving decided to wash airplanes. Then Irving
bought a $40 Flight Simulator at home to practice his skills at flying for the flight school. No where in
the story does it say that Irving had help from anyone in making this decision and working to achieve
his goal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one ever should have to take in bullying and harassment, or even negative feedback. In the story

defend himself from them. He told the public that he was going to get the law pushed through and in
affect. The Mayor decided to make the choice and defend himself against the public, and keep sticking

Brands, Inc. owns three of the world s best known fast food franchises, which are Kentucky Fried
Chicken (KFC), Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut. With a multi branding strategy, a firm can combine its
brands into the same location in order to increase sales and improve operating efficiency. In terms of
industry profitability, it appears that profit margins have a tendency to fall. This is because
competition is high and customers tend to buy low priced high value items. The average gross margin
and net profit margin is 37.1% and 14.3%, respectively (MSN Money, 2010).
Key Macro External Forces
Socio cultural Today s society is becoming increasingly more health conscious. Consumers are aware
of calories, obesity, sodium content and fatty food intake issues. Many restaurants have responded to
the healthy eating trend by expanding the number of healthy food choices on their menus. A study
found that American fast food chains increased their healthy menu items by 65% during the second
quarter of 2009 to the second quarter of 2010 (Midday, 2010). Another important social factor is the
desire to be socially responsible. More restaurants are going green by choosing local ingredients,
meats, and vegetables over those shipped from thousands of miles away. A study reports that around
80% of Americans consider themselves to be environmentally conscious. The same study found that
over 60% of Americans prefer to eat at eco friendly or green restaurants (Hubpages, 2010).

Misconceptions Of Ahab s Hatred In Moby Dick
n Moby Dick Starbuck realizes that the hatred which Ahab harbors for the white whale is
preternatural, not merely vengeance for the loss of his leg. for, Ahab perceives the great whale as
possessing characteristics beyond its apparent nature. Starbuck cries, vengeance on a dumb brute!...
that simply smote thee from blindes instinct! Madness! To be enraged with a dumb thing, captain
Ahab, seems blasphemous. (Moby Dick) having heard this, Ahab replies, addressing the entire crew,
Hark ye yet again the little lower layer. All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in
each event in the living act, the undoubted deed there, some unknown but still reasoning things put

  • 2. The Great Depression Of Franklin D. Roosevelt Coming off of a century of success and prosperity as a result of the new way of living, America thought it was on top of the world and living the good life all until it underwent the catastrophic period commonly known as the Great Depression. Beginning around the 1930s, the Great Depression is probably one of the most significant economic downfalls in America that also ended up affecting the global economy. Around 1933, about 14 millions American citizens saw unemployment, the national income was over 50 percent down, and production of industrial goods dropped to one third of what it was in 1929. In response to this time of devastation, Franklin D. Roosevelt took over from Herbert Hoover as president in order to restore America to what it once was with his concept of the New Deal. Roosevelt commenced a brand new way of American life as he focused on creating a social democratic order, much like that of Western European nations. Additionally, the federal government gained much more power as a whole, but more specifically in the economy. Roosevelt also aimed for a greater sense of community by not trusting individualism and by providing aid to those in need. Finally, he aimed towards restoring capitalism, not replace it. Through his implementations of the New Deal, Roosevelt successful provided relief, recovery and reform from the deplorable effects brought about by the Great Depression. So what actually caused such a difficult time in American history? The national ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. What Is Shamanism Defining the term shamanism is a difficult task, as to this day there exists no single agreed on definition among anthropologists. Therefore, this paper will attempt at creating its own definition applicable to the findings discussed, in order to eliminate any confusion. Etymologically, the word shaman is derived from the Evenki word šamán, which is thought to relate to the Tungus root ša , meaning to know. The Russians adopted the term after hearing it used by Tungusian tribes when they conquered eastern Siberia in the second half of the 20th Century. Thereafter, the word spread to western Europe via the Dutch, after accompanying a Russian Embassy to China. It was first used by western anthropologists to describe the ancient religion ... Thereby, the shaman can release his personal emotions and biases, as they become irrelevant in the grand scheme he witnesses. However, there lies a distinction between recreationally using a drug and doing so in a Shamanic ritual. The words and songs the shaman sings when preparing and taking the drug in, cause the drug to become more powerful due to the union created between the shaman and the plant spirit. It is believed that while power animals are available to anyone, plant spirits only help shamans. First, the original 2010 model which has been continually edited, henceforth referred to as TowersWatson, breaks the vital measures into standardized quartiles. Due to the complexity of this model, an additional model was created. Bishop Schol s model, now referred to as Schol, simplifies the index into basic calculations. More details about these models will be explained and analyzed below. A comparison between the two models showcases the stark variation between high vitality. Within the Schol model over twenty thousand churches are considered highly vital; however, in the TowerWatson model less than nine thousand churches are considered highly vital. Moreover, there are variations among growth and expense factors. Schol model considers medium sized churches vital, while larger churches are typically medium vital. Adequate evidence exists from some randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that mammography screening is associated with significant reductions in BC mortality. Maximum cost benefit can only take place if screening is done in an age group which has a sufficiently high incidence of BC and sufficient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Analysis Of Oedipus The King Oedipus Cursing His Son, Polynices is a great work of art created by Henry Fuseli, in 1786. This painting was created in Fuseli s homeland, Zurich, Switzerland. This painting has a powerful and dramatic purpose to it, and is very interesting to look at. The media of this painting is oil on canvas, and the paint is used loosely. The loose brushy style of the paint gives off the style of impressionism that brings the painting together. There is great historical and cultural context on this painting that refers to Greek mythology. Henry Fuseli s dramatic painting depicts an ancient Greek tragedy, King Oedipus discovered a horror that he murdered his father and married his mother. Oedipus blinded himself in contrition; Upset at his sons, Oedipus forced them to die in battle by each other s hand. He extends his arms to curse them, while Polynices draws back in shame and what is implied as pain from the curse. As for background information on the artist himself, Fuseli was encouraged by Reynolds in 1768 to become a painter. Fuseli traveled to Italy in 1770 to seek inspiration. Sculpture, Michelangelo, and mannerist art inspired him. Fuseli initiated his reputation when he returned to London in 1780. He dedicated most of his time and effort into paintings of Shakespearean themes, and became the leading mind of a group of inventive and experimental young artists. He was later elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Arts in 1788, a full Academician in 1790, and Professor of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Humanitarian Crisis in Chechnya The situation in Chechnya is out of hand, a senseless echo of Stalin in a day where the expression of such rank evil should not occur or be tolerated. An interview with a local Chechen refugee solidified my understanding of the situation. However, meeting a survivor face to face also made the situation seem more real and therefore much more painful. When asked to comment on the film Crying Sun, my subject took a deep breath. This is just like what happened in our village, she said. There were land mines everywhere. The paratroopers came a lot. Once we ran to the neighbor s house barefoot, just like the woman in the movie said. They looted from our homes too. My cousins died. Many Chechens have lived in their respective villages not just for generations, but for centuries. My interview subject revealed her knowledge that many of her ancestors from a long time ago were Jewish, and that some of the people trace their tribal lineage to the Biblical times. There is a sense of senselessness to the killing that transcends rational thought. The so called rebels have been painted as terrorists by the skillful propaganda machine; any rational analysis of the situation in Chechnya reveals the real truth. As Rodrigue (2008) points out, Chechnya is important for the Russians because of access to strategic oil reserves in the Caucasus. Although some of the Caucasus nations obtained their independence, like Georgia and Armenia in the southern Caucasus, the new Russian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Analysis Of George Orwell s Orwell Essay Born Erick Arthur Blair, Orwell disregarded his birth name and changed it to George Orwell. After Orwell changed his name, he transitioned from a supporter of the British imperial to a literary political rebel. Orwell lived in India in his younger years, and later attended a preparatory boarding school in 1911 on the Sussex Coast. Orwell did not come from a rich family but a hardworking family. His mother was a French extraction in India and his father was a minor British official in the Indian Civil Service. In preparatory school, Orwell was known to be a brilliant, poor student, and was treated differently than the middle class students. Growing up, he was shy and an ill tempered boy who told his stories through autobiographical essays and satire stories. In 1922, Orwell won two scholarships to England s leading schools, Winchester and Eton. He chose to attend Eton, and once graduated, he decided to follow his family s hardworking tradition. Parallel to his father, Orwell moved to Burma and became an Assistant District Superintendent in the Indian Imperial Police. From boyhood, he always wanted to become a writer, and with realization of the forced British Imperial Political System amongst the Burmese people he felt ashamed of his position; therefore, Orwell expressed his memories and reactions of imperial rule in his novel Burmese Days and autobiographical essays, A Hanging and Shooting an Elephant, all classics of metrical exposer. • 46. Middle Childhood Observation Essay For my middle childhood observation I chose a 10 year old female by the name of Mycah Landry. Just to give you a bit of a background, Mycah attends a magnet school and makes straight A s. She is a very smart young girl. We will start off by comparing Mycah s physical development to that of Berger s in the text. As documented in the text Unlike infants or adolescents, school age children s growth is slow and steady. Self care is easy from brushing their new adult teeth to dressing themselves, from making their own lunch to walking to school. In these middle years, children depend less on their families and do not yet need to cope with the body changes and impulses of adolescence. Muscles become steadily stronger. From my observation I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children apply their new reasoning skills to concrete situations that is, situations with visible, tangible, real things. Children become more systemic, objective, scientific and educable. One logical concept is classification, the organization of things into groups according to some characteristics that they share. An experiment that Piaget conducted to reveal a children s understanding of classification is, and examiner shows a child a bunch of nine flowers seven yellow daises and two white roses. The examiner makes sure the child knows the words flowers, daises, and roses. Then comes the crucial: Are there more daises or more flowers? I conducted the same experiment with Mycah and she answered there are more flowers. So it is to my findings that Mycah has a clear understanding of classification. Lastly I will be comparing Mycah s psychosocial development to that of Berger s accounts. As explained in the text, steady growth, brain maturation, and intellectual advances make middle childhood a time when children gain independence and autonomy. They acquire an increasing ability to regulate themselves, to take responsibility, and to exercise self control all strengths that make this a period of positive growth. As I stated earlier in my observation report I observed Mycah as being very independent, and capable of taking responsibility for things. There is also a portion of the text where Berger discusses friendship and social acceptance. I sat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
