Blood Pressure, The Pressure Of Blood
Blood pressure, the pressure of blood in the circulatory system, is a vital aspect to the human body in
order to maintain homeostasis. Many Americans are not aware of the seriousness of having high blood
pressure. High blood pressure is called Hypertension, which can be a silent killer if untreated. There
are many causes of Hypertension, including diet, age and race. Doctors now are making classifications
of pre hypertensive, which can help patients maintain their health and possibly avoid hypertension, if
they follow the advice of their physician. Americans should eliminate fatty foods from their diet, be
mindful of their age and race as they may become prone to Hypertension, which can lead to heart
damage, heart disease, congestive heart failure, stroke and maybe death if untreated.
It is important to know what to do if one s blood pressure approaches the extremes, as it can be a sign
of a serious health problem. Knowing what the norm is for systolic and diastolic pressure can help
eliminate health dangers. An unusual blood pressure reading by itself, may not necessarily demand a
911 call (Thomas, George M.D, 2015). While the unusual blood pressure reading may not be a 911
emergency at that moment, it can still be a sign of trouble arising. It is important for to realize the
seriousness of rises in blood pressure. Hypertension can be prevented with regular checking and
monitoring of the blood pressure. If blood pressure reaches 140/90 or higher

Weinstein Sexual Harassment
On October 5th, The New York Times released an article revealing sexual harassment allegations
against Harvey Weinstein, in which multiple women, including famous actresses, came forward
accusing Weinstein of sexual assault. On October 8th, the Weinstein Company fired Weinstein, who
later resigned from the company s board on October 17th. Dozens of women in Hollywood have since
come out to speak against Weinstein, including Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow with specific
incidents of harassment. Other actresses, such as Meryl Streep and Judi Dench have spoken out
against the treatment of women in Hollywood, though they did not have any incidents with Weinstein.
The issue has expanded out of Hollywood, with women around the country sharing ... Show more

Women should never be forced to face sexual harassment for fear of losing their jobs. The shocking
fact of the entire situation is how well known this secret was in Hollywood. And it begs the question:
how do you separate art from the artist? Harvey Weinstein has produced some of the most
extraordinary films of all time, but that doesn t excuse his actions. Reports of sexual harassment
allegations against men in the film industry are incredibly common these days, but does that mean we
need to completely disregard the films they ve made? It s hard to appreciate someone s work in the
same way after learning about a sexual harassment charge against them, but movies are made by
thousands of people, and should all their work be disregarded because of one person s actions? It s
difficult to find the line at where to judge people, because artists aren t the same as their art, but we
should still acknowledge their past mistakes. While it s terrible that something so horrific had to
happen to bring this to the attention of the media, it brings hope for the future. For the first time,
women are being listened to. People are finally being held accountable for their actions, and while it s
hard to acknowledge that this has been a well kept secret for decades, it s created a community where
women are able to share their personal

Chapter 3: Collision at Cajamarca
Write a paragraph explaining your views on the event of November 16, 1532. What strikes you the
most about this event? Why did Pizarro succeed?
On November 16, 1532 Francisco Pizarro conquered over the Incan emperor Atahualpa. Spaniards
massacre tens of thousands of Indians. At this time the use of steel swords were very beneficial,
because the Spaniards had them where the Incans did not. I believe that the victory of this invasion
was based off of the more advanced ethnic group, because the Spaniards had the more advanced
weapons and technology. This victory is a shock to me, because the Spaniards were un aware of the
terrain and the Incans has the home field advantage. The reason Pizarro succeeded was he had
originally gained the trust of Atahualpa and then captured him and used his advanced weaponry to
conquer the Incans

The Four Phases Of Photogrammetry
The development of photogrammetry clearly depends on the general development of science and
technology. It is interesting to note that the four major phases of photogrammetry are directly related
to the technological inventions of photography, airplanes, computers and electronics. Figure below
depicts the four generations of photogrammetry. Photogrammetry had its beginning with the invention
of photography by Daguerre and Niepce in 1839.The first generation, from the middle to the end of
last century, was very much a pioneering and experimental phase with remarkable achievements in
terrestrial and balloon photogrammetry. The second generation, usually referred to as analog
photogrammetry, is characterized by the invention of stereo photogrammetry ... Show more content on

It has a simple principle but still has a huge influence on current architectural works. The simple
procedure is that it takes input from photography which is a 2D representation of 3D objects and then

on location of camera, photogrammetry can be of two types:
i. Aerial Photogrammetry
The camera is placed in an aircraft in Aerial Photogrammetry and it is vertically pointed with respect
to ground. Several overlapping photos are taken as aircraft flies of the area which had to be studied.
Remotely taken photos are than processed in stereo plotter which is an instrument that allows seeing

Description Of Borderline Personality Disorder
Rationale for diagnosis: I arrived at the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder for several
different reasons. According to the American Psychiatric Association (2013), Borderline Personality
Disorder is defined as A pervasive pattern of instability of interpersonal relationships, self image, and
affects, and marked impulsivity, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts.
One of the defining characteristics within this definition for Borderline Personality Disorder is Frantic
efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment . Robin s case states that she would often verbally
downgrade her companions and then a short time later she would end up worrying that she may have
estranged them. Robin would then do something kind for her companions to keep them close and
remain devoted to her. Robin meets this defining characteristic because, as stated, she becomes frantic
when she feels that someone is going to abandon her and puts forth an effort to do something kind for
them to avoid this abandonment. Another defining characteristic of Borderline Personality Disorder is
A pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between
extremes of idealization and devaluation . (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Robin s personal
relationships with others were said to be quite abnormal; she would rapidly and with no reason shift
from one mood to another. This seems to describe a pattern between Robin valuing her friends at
times, yet also belittling them at other times in an extreme and alternating manner. Another
characteristic that Robin possesses that is used in describing Borderline Personality Disorder is
Impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self damaging . (American Psychiatric
Association, 2013). The two areas that Robin portrays acts of self damaging are through substance
abuse (in Robin s case, alcohol) and binge eating due to her having Bulimia Nervosa. On a side note,
eating disorders, particularly bulimia, are common in people with Borderline Personality Disorder;
almost 25% of bulimics have the disorder. (Zanarini, Reichman, Frankenburg, Reich, Fitzmaurice,
2010), and, up to 67% of the people with this disorder are

Nuclear Weapons During The Cold War Era Essay
The development and use of nuclear weapons in 1945 changed not only warfare, but how countries
approach warfare as a whole. As Andrew Heywood notes in his book, Global Politics, says that there s
a tendency for any weapons to proliferate or spread. With that knowledge it should be assumed that
many nations would want to obtain nuclear weapons after seeing what the power that they hold. A
state being in possession of a nuclear weapon can deter potential enemies and make them a power on
the global scale. The Cold War era and post Cold War era both saw an in increase in the spread of
nuclear weapons. During the Cold War, after the US first used a nuclear weapon in 1945, states that
gained nuclear capabilities were the France, the UK, China and the Soviet Union. Post Cold War era
India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea all gained nuclear weapons and shows the problem with
proliferation of them. India and Pakistan are neighboring states and rivals which can lead to the
possibility that they could be used at any moment. North Korea is a dangerous militaristic state that
constantly threatens other states. This illustrates that the spread of nuclear weapons is a global
problem because nuclear proliferation can possibly put WMDS, weapons of mass destruction, in the
hands of rival states or extremely dangerous nations. There s also the possibility of them falling into
the hands of non state actors such as terrorists groups. Nuclear proliferation and nuclear
disarmament/arms

Symbols In The Truman Show
There are some names that have symbolism in the Truman Show that are very important to what the
show means and how we understand it. The names are Seahaven, Truman, Burbank, Christof, Santa
Maria, Simeon. Seahaven is a symbol because a sea can represent freedom in Truman s case because
he sailed to be free from the lies. A haven is a safe place. When you put these two words together is
makes Seahaven which represents a safe place to be free from the real world and all of reality. Truman
is a symbol because it is his name and it means he is a true man. This also connects with a quote
where Christof says While the world he inhabits is, in some respects, counterfeit, there s nothing fake
about Truman himself. This shows that Seahaven is fake or

Volunteer Marking Essay
Volunteer Marking and Recording the names of Veterans at the Independence Cemetary For one of my
friends Eagle project, we went around the cemetary and recorded all the information given about
veterans. These records would be put down online so that anyone serching for a specific person could
find where they are buried. It was actually a fun job, we got to see all the awards given to some of
these vets and compare them. It was interesting to see just how much some people had done to serve
our country. I both helped decipher eroded gravestones and and took pictures of what we were doing.

The Shock Is A Life Threatening Condition Of Circulatory...
Shock is a life threatening condition of circulatory failure that most commonly presents with
hypotension. The effects of shock are initially reversible but can rapidly become irreversible, resulting
in multi organ failure (MOF) and death. when a patient present with undifferentiated hypotension, it is
important that the clinician rapidly identify the aetiology so that appropriate therapy can be
administered to prevent MOF and death (Vincent, 2013).
Assessment of hemodynamic status in a shock state remains a challenging issue in Emergency
Medicine. Early recognition and appropriate treatment of shock have been shown to decrease
mortality (Moore and Copel, 2011; Volpicelli, 2011). In case of medical emergencies there may not be
enough time to perform detailed diagnostic procedures and eliminating any imminently life
threatening conditions from the possibilities is always challenging in a busy ED.
Shock is defined as circulatory insufficiency that leads to under perfusion of organs in the body, which
can result in multi organ failure. Undifferentiated shock refers to the situation where shock is
recognized, but the cause is unclear. In general shock can be classified into 4 subtypes (Tintinalli,
2010):
Hypovolemic shock this happens as a result of severe blood or fluid loss as can be seen in
haemorrhage, rupture of aortic aneurysm, severe diarrhoea, vomiting.
Distributive shock this type of shock happens when the core intravascular volume is insufficient to

Theory Of Property Rights By Harold Demsetz
Theory of Property Rights By Harold Demsetz (UChicago)
The concept and role of property rights
It this first part, Demsetz offers a more theoretical foundation for the concepts he will use in the
following parts. The author starts defining the idea of property rights and differentiating how they
transmit the right to benefit or harm oneself or others. After, he links it with the recognition a close
relationship between property rights and externalities. The process of Internalizing such effects refers
to a change in property rights, that enables these effects to bear (in greater degree) on all interacting
persons. They become part of the economy.
The example of the military draft is used later to show how the costs of internalization have to be
higher to its gains. The lower the cost the greater the number of transactions and the degree to which
they take place.
Lastly, in this section, Demsetz defines the framework of his analysis, what would happen if
transaction costs of internalizing were zero? There are two main implications, on the first one he states
that the output mix is efficient for all players involved. Secondly, that the mix is independent of who is
assigned the ownership.

The Importance Of School Uniforms
A student gets pushed into a locker, the instigator takes the child s shirt and pulls it. Where did you get
this shirt from, five below? The other people surrounding the child laugh. Now that same child runs
home to his mother crying in tears. The child proceeds to tell him about his day whimpering word
after word. A mother struggling to pay for the house now feels obligated to buy her child more
expensive clothes just because they were picked on. Well if students had a uniform the instigator
would not be able to pick on anything because they are wearing the same clothes. Roughly twenty
nine percent of the United States population are lower class according to the graph in Marilyn Geewax
article, The Tipping Point: Most Americans No Longer Are Middle Class. Many schools give children
the privilege to wear what they want to school, although is this a bad idea? Children are picked on for
there attire, others getting dress coded for explicit clothing, but the problems are redundant had the
schools enforce a rule about uniforms. One may argue that with a uniform does not give the student
the privilege to express oneself. Although that s not true. Many students who do have dress

Slaughter s Essay Why Men Still Can T Have It All
Parthkumar Patel
ENG 101 142A
Professor Darlene Anderson
10/26/2017
Why Humans Still Can t Have It All? It is commonly known that it is hard to maintain two things at
the same time. For example, If someone is a full time caretaker of the children, it s hard to maintain
both work and family. This applies more to women because they are usually the primary caretaker of
their children and their family. Anne Marie Slaughter, in her essay Why Women Still Can t Have It
All, said that she had to put her work down to fully invest her time to support her children. On the
other side, Richard Dorment, author of Why Men Still Can t Have It All, states that it is not only
women who can t have it all, but also men can t have it all so no one ... Show more content on

Richard Dorment thought no one can have it all because everyone has to sacrifice something for
family.Although Slaughter and Dorment thought they couldn t have it all, not everyone in this earth
would have thought the same way they did. Some people might have been satisfied with the way their
lives are with work and family. They might not have a free schedule but they may be able to come
home when necessary. Someone might say that they have it all just because they are satisfied with
their journey of their life which is opposite of what Slaughter and Dorment argued. If people believed
and claimed that they have it all, than no one can say that they don t have it all because having it all
depends on one s own belief and mind. If someone thinks that distributing housework is sacrificing,
then it is a sacrifice to them. But if someone thinks doing chores is not sacrificing, but it s just a part
of everyone s life. If everyone start to think that sacrificing is their job, there will be less people to
complain that they don t have it all. Having it all doesn t really means being able to enjoy life without
sacrificing. Having it all actually means learning to be satisfied with our own life life regardless of the
position. If everyone knew how to be fully satisfied even in tough situations, they are more likely to

Aristotle On Prejudice
In the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga s performance of Eurydice, there are key elements that
set this performance aside from others. Likewise, Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher who
carries heavy influence on thought. Therefore, Aristotle has certain ideas as to what elements drama
should try to accomplish. This specific performance of Eurydice ties in all six of these elements of
drama, which includes plot, theme, character, diction, music, and spectacle. As far as plot goes, this
particular play is fairly rapid in scene changes and, at times, it can be difficult to follow. However, the
audience can concisely follow the main plot of this play. The production opens with a couple,

Attending the reading that was in the evening of the conference for Jory Franklin and Patrick Madden

A Brief Note On Hunger And Food Insecurity
II. The Issue A. In your own words, describe the presenting issue facing the community. In our current
economic crisis, many people have had to make tough choices and have ended up unable to provide
food for themselves and the ones they love. In Florida, we are faced with an alarming number of
people who are hungry without a secure source of food for themselves and their families. B. Research
and Trends (please use more than one source when answering this question) In 2006, CNSTAT(The
Committee on National Statistics) asked the USDA to clarify and make a clear distinction between
hunger and food insecurity. What the USDA came back with was the following definitions (USDA,
2014): Food insecurity, is a household level economic and social condition of limited or uncertain
access to adequate food. Hunger is an individual level physiological condition that may result from
food insecurity (USDA, 2014, CNSTAT Review and Recommendations, para. 3). One of the main
causes of food insecurity is Poverty. In 2012, the percentage of adults and children afflicted by poverty
in Pinellas County was calculated, and the percentage they found with was a startling and quite
worrisome number. It was estimated that 14% of adults and 21% of children in Pinellas County are in
poverty. That s over 130,000 Pinellas County residents who are in poverty and may not be able to

My Life After The Athletic Banquet
The day after the Athletic Banquet brought with it puffy eyes from crying myself to sleep. As hard as I
tried, I could not seem to escape my pity party or shake the feelings of disappointment. I enjoyed
participating in sports. Every day, my heart and soul laid on the court, along with my best effort and
sportsmanship, but I understood that athletics wouldn t take me anywhere past high school. Reason
and theoretical thinking kept me from being serious about section and state competitions, and for that
reason, as well as my lack of athleticism, I seldom received playing time, especially on varsity. Instead
I discovered myself on the junior varsity team most years, and although most students and coaches
viewed me as not good enough, I would not allow myself to look through that lens. In my mind, JV
was an opportunity. Naturally a leader, I sought to lead the younger girls, not necessarily to scoring
victories, but ones developed outside the gym; I yearned to shape the younger athletes into better
people. Determined to make my dream a reality, I blocked out the voice that reiterated, Alli, you
deserve to be on varsity. You have been here longer than those other girls, you are talented, you have a
better attitude, fight for that spot. That voice could have killed me, but I set my eyes on the goal and
was determined to reach it. By the end of the season, our team set a record of eighteen wins and six

How Did The Mayans Build Number System
Next to speaking, counting is the greatest achievement created by man. The question of who is
responsible for creating counting and numbers is still unknown today. Historians and researchers have
difficulty pinpointing who should be credited for the creation. Professor Jean de Heinzelin discovered
the earliest proof of counting in the 1950s. During his excavation in a village called Ishango, located
in the Congo, he discovered a bone with lines and patterns carved into it. Researchers dubbed the
finding the Ishango Bone. An article by D. Huylebrouck says that the bone is about 11,000 years old

Indian scholars created the Hindu Arabic system around 800 B.C (Carasco). This system grouped by
ten using numbers 0 9. It also used place value. For example in the number 2345, the 2 is in the
thousands place, the 3 is in the hundreds place, the 4 is in the hundreds place, while the 5 is in the
units place. One must read from right to left, to say the word aloud. This is what is currently used
universally. Unlike the other systems previously discussed, this one uses a base 10. Many question as
to why this system uses a base 10. The answer is simply the fact the humans only have ten fingers to
count with, which makes it easy to count and keep track of. Some also wonder how this numeration
system was able to reach so many countries. As one will see the spreading of the system was like a
domino effect. The Handy Math Answer Book explains that the Arabs were among the first to adopt
this counting arrangement from the Indians. India was able to pass on this counting system through the
trade routes of Northern Africa, which caught the attention of Arabs inhabiting this area ( (Barnes

Analysis Of The Maltese Falcon
According to our text book The Maltese falcon is considered one of the first hard boiled noir films,
although it doesn t have the artistic, noirish lighting that later films develop. Film noir is typically
dark, morally, and cinematically, with a male protagonist in conflict with criminals, and usually a
femme fatale, as an antagonist. This movie wasn t easy to follow, but after the third viewing, I think I
figured it out. There are many twists and turns, but Sam Spade manages to stay one step ahead of the
king pin, Gutman, and the others who are after the falcon. At first, I thought that Spade was all in for
the money, however, he was giving the police just enough info to keep them involved, and out of the
way, but nothing about the bird.

The Legend Of Faust Research Paper
To begin, Faust is a fictional scholar in literature who sells his soul to the Devil. The legend is loosely
based on an actual magician who lived in northern Germany during the fifteenth century. Faust was
once idealistic, but now disillusioned and bitter with despair. He foresakes God and makes a perilous
deal with the Devil in which he commits his soul to eternal damnation in return for power and
knowledge in this life (The legend of Faust from the Renaissance times, 2016). Faust has studied for
years without pleasing progress and loses his faith in his idealism. In his frustration, Faust becomes a
black magic sorcerer and beckons the Devil. The demon he summons is named Mephistopheles.
Together they make a pact in which the devil offers to serve Faust for a period of time, in return for his
soul and damnation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay about Jewish History
Jewish History
Ever since the Jews were driven from their homeland (now known as Israel) they have faced
discrimination and prejudice, mainly due to their beliefs and culture. They spread throughout the
world and in some countries they were welcomed and enjoyed periods of peace with their neighbors,
however in Europe the population was mainly Christian and the Jews found themselves being branded
as outsiders. The reason Jewish and Christian populations couldn t get along was due to different
religious beliefs and for many years the Church taught of how it believed the Jews had killed Jesus,
however in modern times this view has been discredited by many historians.

In 1905 the Tzar s secret police published perhaps the most notorious example of pre Nazi anti semitic
propaganda. The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion put forward the notion that an organiation of
elite Jews were planning to take over the world. It was a hoax but this did not stop it from being
circulated throughout Europe and America and it helped fuel Nazism in the 1930 s.
Meanwhile during this period Frances Jewish population was far less than Easten Europe. French Jews
had been the first in Europe to be given equal rights as citizens and enjoyed freedom throughout
France. However in 1894, French Captain Alfred Dreyfus, a French Jew, was tried for high treason
and sentenced to life imprisonment in total isolation on Devil s Island, off the coast of the peal colony
of French Guiana. It took many years for the truth to be known: Dreyfus was totally innocent of the
crime and false evidences had been used to convict him. This high profile case highlighted the fact
that anti semitism was present in advanced Western Europe as well a more backward states of Eastern
Europe.

We recommend in the first phase to expand the credit card business into India, the Philippines, Taiwan

Schiller´s Aesthetic Philosophy of Human Nature
Schiller takes the position that his age is lacking something, meaning that it is missing a certain
something that is essential for all human beings. In other words, the part is missing the whole .
Friedrich Schiller on the Sixth Letter of his text On the Aesthetic Education of Man in a Series of
Letters gives an example of a culture, which was not wanting. This culture, the Hellenic Greeks,
seemed to manage a perfect balance between art and wisdom, and their connection to nature, for they
realized art and wisdom were not something of their own that detached them from nature, but that they
were the road itself, which one had to take to find his way towards nature. Schiller states this
differently. For they were wedded [the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schiller asserts that beauty is an aesthetic unity of thought and feeling, of reason and emotion. It Is by
the attainment of this unity that Schiller believes enables human nature to be realized and fulfilled.
That Beauty may lead to truth, meaning one can become the ideal through joining the logical and the
emotional. However, when truth is perceived, feeling may follow thought, or thought may follow
feeling.(189) When beauty is understood, thought is unified with feeling. He states the need for this
unity much beautifully than just a philosopher could The reality of things is the work of the things; the
appearance of things is the work of man and a nature which delights in appearance no longer takes
pleasure in what it receives, but in what it does (125). At first, the second half did not make much
sense, but upon reflection one may see that Schiller is saying we should not just revel in what the
senses take in, but use our reason to look deeper, beyond the surface. Schiller however does not
believe this is a realistic goal or even an attainable one, as we discussed in class. Schiller needs to
make some sort of distinction between the potential Man and the goal of Man, as a manifestation or
visualization of that potential or archetype. The impossibility of ever attaining the ideal calls for the
identification of potential and goal, which shows that they cancel each other out: unrealizable potential

Descriptive Essay On Gospel Music
As I entered Chrysler Hall I instantly became nervous. Shamefully Mann s World Concert and
Comedy Show will be the first live gospel performance I have ever attended. I didn t know what to
expect. I m not as savvy in the gospel genre as I should be. The only songs that I have heard the Mann
family perform were the songs they performed with Kirk Franklin and the Family and the popular
ones that play on the radio. I glanced around the auditorium and it appeared to a full house. The
audience had several nationalities ready to enjoy a night of gospel music. There was a deejay table off
to the side entertaining the crowd as everyone arrived at their seats. The stage had band instruments
towards the back of the stage with a deejay table in front of them. The lights were beautiful; they
displayed various scenes and sceneries throughout the show. First to arrive on stage was David Mann
Jr. He walked out and headed towards the deejay tables that were center stage. His energy and music
selections pumped the crowd up and had everyone ready to party. The lights on the stage had a party
appearance and holograms of a dancer. As the lights begin to flash a different color I anxiously waited
for the next song to start. He played all the family reunion and cookout party hits such as The

Kazakhstan Is One Of The Largest States Economy And A...
Today, Kazakhstan is one of the largest states in Central Asia boasting with developed economy and a
stable political situation. Twenty years of independence allowed Kazakhs to evaluate and perceive
their own history and themselves in a different light.
Abatement of the main signs of national identity traditional mode of life resulted in deterioration of
culture and language, which inflicted severe damages to cultural memory. The first a half of the XX
century was marked for Kazakhstan by the difficult, erratic events which lead to almost irreversible
consequences for the Kazakh s cultural identity: collectivisation, Famine Genocide, mass political
repressions. Destruction of ethnic consciousness at the most different levels resulted in loss of national
nomadic space, deaths of thousands of Kazakhs bearers of traditions and calculated destruction of
intellectual elite by government. Despite all efforts, the subsequent three generations of Kazakhs were
not able to completely heal the scar left more than seventy years ago.
How to overcome this traumatic experience ? What it steps should be taken right now to find the most
reasonable way to create new identity, without destroying and without denying own history? And what
role should be assigned to culture? We will try to find answers to these questions in this article.

Upwind Discretization Model Essay
The second order upwind discretization model was used in this problem. The truncated error due to
selected terms in the Taylor series expansion is reduced and a more accurate solution is implied.
Fewer grid points are necessary to give the same level of accuracy.
∂u/∂x+u=0,〖(du/dx)〗_i + ui =0 u_(i 1)=u_i ∆x(du/dx)_i+(∆x^2)/2 ((d^2 u)/(dx^2 ))_i (∆x^3)/6
((d^3 u)/(dx^3 ))_i+0(∆x^4) u_(i 1)=u_i+∆x(du/dx)_i+(∆x^2)/2 ((d^2 u)/(dx^2 ))_i (∆x^3)/6 ((d^3
u)/(dx^3 ))_i+0(∆x^4)
The central differencing method is used to find an expression for d2u/dx2 in the form ui 1 +ui+1 u_(i
1)+u_(i+1)=〖2u〗_i+∆x^2 ((d^2 u)/(dx^2 ))_i+O(∆x^4) ((d^2 u)/(dx^2 ))_i=((u_(i 1) )+(u_(i 1) )
(2u_i))/(∆x^2 )
This is the discretised expression for d2u/dx2 and the truncation error is above O(∆x^2)

The Abstract Principles Of Sexuality And Race
The abstract principles of sexuality and race have always been delicate ideas for society to
comprehend. When you Google the word sexuality , you do not come across a gender specified
definition that constricts males and females to desire only one another. It simply states that it is the
sexual habits and desires of a person. Any person, male, female, transgender, or otherwise, can be
sexual with whomever they desire. So why is the dichotomy of homosexuality versus heterosexuality
such a pervasive notion?
There are multiple myths and facts about sexual orientation. Case Western Reserve University, located
in Cleveland, Ohio, is one of the most LGBT friendly campuses in the country. On their website they
host an page about their gender friendly campus that answers any common questions one might have
about such issues. No one knows what causes sexual orientation. Many lesbian, gay and bisexual
people know that they are attracted to members of their own sex at an early age, sometimes as young
as 6 or 7 years old. Others learn much later in life, in their 30 s, 40 s or later still. Some research
indicates that sexual orientation is determined between birth and age 3, but no one is sure what causes
particular orientations.
As for race, considering and supporting the theory of color on individuals and collaborating the ideas
to our community, in my opinion, seems to be much more of a delicate matter than sexuality. The
concept of race is a modern concept. In the

Course Review on The Era of Technological Evolution Essay
Every chapter in this course was very informative in its own way. Every era has experienced a
technological evolution, what matters the most is who adapts and get benefited from that technology.
One of the chapter which was very interesting was the The information systems and the Design of
work. Information technology in today s world has touched a new height whose motto is to make
things simpler. It was only with the help of technology we are able to shrink our desktop computer so
small that now we can make it fit easily in our pockets (Mobile Phones) (Arvind, Richard Ann, 2005).
One of the concepts which were focused is the fusion of IT in today s life. The IT effect has affected

The second concept which is according to me is in the chapter Governance of information Systems
Organization. The main description about the IT governance process is that the decision making rights
in the company are being divided among the stakeholders who are in the enterprise and this will also
help to make and monitor the strategic and crucial decisions of the IT (Ryan, 2004). This chapter also
mentioned about the three models of governance which are centralized, decentralized and federal.
With the advancement of the information technology, the need of Information security and governance
has increased a lot. Every organization stores data which is an important asset to them. This misuse of
technology had led hackers to get into the company s system and steal or provide harm to their data.
So, in order to safe guard its data, a company has to follow a security framework or practices. This is
possible with the implementation of Information security strategies, security policies, etc. I work in
the security and compliance department at CMS at one of my work is to do the gap analysis on the
existing IT policies and update them in according to the NIST (National Institute of Security and
Technology) and COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology) standards. The

department, I came to realize the importance of security as even a single loop hole is

Fun Home By Jeffery Eugenides Essay
What does it mean to be queer? The Merriam Webster Dictionary states that queer is differing in some
odd way from what is usual or normal ( Definition of Queer ). By this definition, all humans are queer
in their own way. When looking at the novel Middlesex, written by Jeffery Eugenides, and the graphic
novel Fun Home, written by Alison Bechdel, queerness is seen in multiple aspects within the
characters and styles of writing. Eugenides writes Middlesex through the all knowing character of Cal,
who was born and raised a female but later discovered to have both male and female genitals. During
the time of puberty, her queerness becomes more present as she realizes how much she differs from
her classmates. When a doctor finally tells her that her genetic makeup is male, Cal runs away to take
on this new identity. Contrasting this to the graphic novel Fun Home, Bechdel writes a memoir of her
life, retelling the story of her family and the revelation of her sexual identity. A strong emphasis is put
on Bechdel s father, who is found to have homosexual tendencies, and the relationship the two form
through their queerness. Queerness, in the sense of non normativity, is seen within the texts of
Middlesex and Fun Home and can be compared and contrasted by the ways in which the characters
identify themselves as queer, how the styles of narratives reflect queerness, and how the families of
the protagonists are incidentally queer themselves. While the characters of both Cal and

The Clean Power Of The Dominican Republic
Introduction
The Clean Power Company has recently realized that in order to stay in business, they will have to
move the company out of the country to the Dominican Republic. They have already purchased 500
acres of undeveloped land adjacent to the Chavon River. They also plan to build a school to help with
overcrowding and to promote corporate social responsibility with the locals. Furthermore, as part of
the sales agreement, the seller, Teltac Corporation, has agreed to put in roads, septic systems, and
water lines. Teltac, has also informed Clean Power that there should be no problems running these
sewer lines directly into the river as the Chavon River is clean and large and can absorb the waste.
People in the new community feel that this is cause for major concern.
The Clean Power Company has lots of ethical decisions to make. The two main ethical concerns that
arise if Clean Power moves its company: First, how the move will effect the present stake holders (i.e.
the employees, their families, the business partners of Clean Power, and shareholders in Cincinnati).
The second is the effect that the move will have on the environmental and community stakeholders of
the Dominican Republic.
Legal
It would be unlawful for the any company to dump toxic sewage into the Chavon River, or any river
for that matter, by doing such a thing it puts the new community at risk of disease and illness. Also, by
polluting the river, it will contaminate the local environment and wreak havoc

Impact Of Environmental Concerns On The Environment
And God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion
over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the
earth. The bible tells us to be fruitful and multiply , however, with the earth s growing population, our
planet is beginning to see the harmful effects caused by humans. As time progressed, nations
industrialized and policy and technological advancements further pushed the wave of globalization.
Progress and globalization have benefited us in numerous ways, but for every action made there are
consequences. So, how have humans caused environmental concerns? Well, this essay will discuss
those environmental concerns, and this is important because these issues negatively affect the
environment, which ultimately affects us. As the human population continues to grow and we continue
to progress, the environment suffers. Ever since the Industrial Revolution began in the eighteenth
century, human actions have added to the increase in heat trapping gases . This brings us to one of the
most talked about issue caused by humans, pollution. Pollution is the introduction of contaminants
into a natural environment which causes harm to the environment, and pollutants take form in many
ways, however, the most common are water, soil, and air pollution. Without water, we would cease to

Globalization Versus Internationalisation
Globalisation versus Internationalisation, what do we think?
We have seen the main aspects of Globalisation and his mechanisms during this report. Now we are
going to explain the difference between globalisation and internationalisation. This are two words very
close but not similar. Firstly, we will define internationalisation rigorously, and then we will see what
internationalisation in the world is. We will try to explain the main stage. We also define globalization
to be able to compare the two terms. Finally we underline the differences and similarities of
globalisation and internationalisation.
According to G. Rocher, internationalisation refers to different exchanges as economics, politics,
cultural, between nations. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Excluding the economy, there are other aspects of the world which are globalised, like culture (For
instance: Mcdonaldization), politic and sociologic.
Now we have briefly described what is internationalisation and globalization, we can explain the main
similarities and differences. Both, internationalisation and globalisation have an impact and play a role
at the world level. They create interdependence between states in the world but not at the same degree.
Foremost, internationalisation is a term which appears before globalisation to explain the first
exchange between countries thanks to free trade. Companies and firms to be more productive, more
competitive and also to have an important area to sell there product spread their border. So
internationalisation it s just trading at the world level. (Internationalisation is not just an economic
dimension). Globalisation is a kind of deepening of internationalisation. It appears when the
international exchange has increased and developed. In fact globalisation needs internationalisation to
exist; it s the sequel of internationalisation. Globalisation tends to a standardization of the world while
internationalisation is to adapt a company or a country to the world trade.
To conclude we can say that internationalisation and globalisation have the same origin (free trade),
but globalisation goes far, toward standardization of the economy but also culture and politic.
Globalisation is powerful and

Reflection On Human Relations
I started this class as an assistant manager for a restaurant which comes with human relations in every
aspect possible. After assesing my human relations abilities and skills in the beginning of the course
my three strengths were first, understanding how personality and perception affect peoples behavior,
human relations, and performance. It is very easy for me to understand how personality affect people
in everything that they do. I able to recognize that no one is the same. We all have different attitudes,
different personal lives, different views and just because we are not all the same doesn t mean we can t
still be respectful to one another or put ourselves in someone else s shoes. I work with all different
kinds of people whom all have different kind of personalities that all bring different attitudes; but I
have taken the time to understand them and get to know them so if I see someone flustered I know if
they need help or if I m hovering. I can feel when things get edgy in the work place and sometimes we
get cranky in the middle of a busy day, but at the end of the day we are all still one big happy
dysfunctional work family that come with many different skills in order to deal with such a wide
variety of personality. second, knowing to open conversations to get people to give me career
assistance. At first I used to hate to ask for assistance because I didn t like feeling as if a question I had
was stupid or not. Now if I can t learn something on my own I am more than happy to ask for
assistance because not only does it show an interest in learning something new, but to ask a certain
individual and make them feel good that I thought of them to ask for assistance makes it a happy
learning experience. Lastly understanding how to resolve conflicts in a way that does not hurt
relationships. whether the conflict is with me and someone else or between my employees I always
like to make sure that by the end of the situation we are all on the same page and that whatever
situation is we can fix it. About a year ago I had a situation with a coworker and I can t remember
what she said, but I had been flustered about something so when she had said something to me my

Cultural Discrimination In Pecola By Toni Morrison
There is also the lack of healthy interpersonal relationship between the parents and child. Cholly
Breedlove twice rapes his biological daughter in a fit of drunkenness and impregnates her. Pecola does
not receive the parental love and care which she was supposed to get from her parents. Cholly is an
absent and uncaring father. Whereas, Paulin does not believe her daughter when she gets to know that
Cholly, her husband, has raped their daughter Pecola. She beats Pecola instead and makes her
unconscious. Cholly s blackness infuriates him and compels him to believe that he is ugly and so he
does not deserve a better life. He is a sadist character who only loves to inflict pain on others.
This novel also demonstrates how centuries of cultural mutilation of Black people in America leads to
a psychological oppression and subjugation. Self proclaimed inferiority operated in the Blacks of
America and they could not break their minds free from the shackles of racial inferiority. It became a
culturally imposed racism for them. Their blackness implied their inferiority to the Whites in America.
Similarly, the Breedlove family also accepts the hollow notion of whiteness and consequently
experiences its damaging outcomes. In Pecola, there operates a growing self loathing. Through her
character, Morrison attempts to paint a more complicated and deeper portrayal of the effects of racism
via how self loathing eclipses the minds of Black people. Breedlove family was said to be ugly

In these mutant yeast cells, the typical vesicle transport system was abnormal, which allowed
detection of specific genes that were related to these mutations. These screenings eventually led to the
identification of twenty three separate genes that could be classified into three groups based on their
effects on membranes involved in traffic. These membranes include the endoplasmic reticulum, the
Golgi Apparatus, and the plasma membrane (Novick and Schekman, 1979).
James Rothman dissected the transport mechanism by purifying and identifying proteins used in
transport. The NSF, SNAP and SNARE proteins act as docking sites to enable vesicles to fuse to
specific target membranes. This explains the precision of transport; the proteins only combined with
certain cargo. The ability to purify the NSF protein was made possible by the identification of the
VSV G protein. The VSV G protein is labeled by a sugar when it comes in contact with the Golgi
Apparatus, simplifying documentation. Genes code for proteins used in fusion, exemplified by how
the sec18 gene relates to NSF. Sec17 relates to the SNAP protein in a similar manner. The discovery of
the SNAP protein allowed for the revelation of SNARE proteins found in brain tissue. SNARE
proteins are a gateway to the fusion and docking of vesicles in a very specific manner: only an

environments and products in order to protect employees as well as consumers.
A natural monopoly is an industry in which one business already exists is not economical because the
competing business would not be able to reduce their prices as low as the price of the natural
monopoly and therefore wouldn t be profitable. Natural monopolies are established when multiple
firms startup costs are too high to enter the industry. The public interest theory of regulation, or
economic theory of regulation states that industrial regulation is essential in maintaining a natural
monopoly. Natural monopolies turning into a regular monopoly charging monopoly prices can be
harmful to society. Something that everyone most generally uses or needs like public resources i.e.
electricity and water. Almost every person in our society requires these resources. The initial cost for
creating a firm that can provide these services is high. Some startup cost can include power stations as
well as power lines, labor costs, the cost of producing the power, and many other costs. These
naturally occurring costs can often bar entry or discourage entry into the industry. In the event that a
firm does make it into the industry and starts producing these public resources such as

Exercise Response Essay
Both subjects took part in exercise. One athlete on the treadmill and the other on the bike.
Exercise 1:
Client one was doing exercise on a bike for a 30 minute time period. The cradle attached to the bike
weighed 1kg and extra weight was added (+ 0.1kg) and taken away to ensure the client remained in
the correct heart rate zone throughout the period of time that they were exercising for. The intensity of
this exercise was medium to high as it required an increase in the clients breathing rate compared to
what it was at rest and also the client began to sweat. During this time period several tests were taken
every five minutes. One of the tests that was taken was the clients heart rate, the client was wearing a
heart rate monitor as well as a watch that helped to track ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another test that was taken was the clients blood pressure which was taken using an electronic
sphygmomanometer which provided us with both the systolic (refers to the pressure within our
arteries when our heart is pumping) and diastolic (refers to the pressure within our arteries when our
heart is resting between beats). A third test that was taken was the clients peak flow which had to be
done immediately after 5 minutes of exercising in order to get a valid and fair result. Peak flow is
measured using a peak flow meter which measures how quickly the air comes out of our lungs that the
client exhaled forcefully after fully inhaling. Another test that was taken was the clients RPE which
was taken during the period of which the athlete was exercising. It is measured using a scale which the
client had to rate themselves on (one being the least tired and 10 being the most tired). Flexibility was
another test that was taken, this involved the client getting off

In this case we will be talking about the company RIM (Research in Motion) and some of the
Challenges they faced to protect their Intellectual Property. Research in Motion is best known as the
developer of the Blackberry smartphone. Research in Motion was involved on several Patent
Litigation with the different competitors. On 1999 Glenayre Technologies (formerly known as
Glenayre Electonics) filed a patent infringement suit against RIM claiming that the Inter@ctive pager
line used Glenayre s power generation from dual battery process. This litigation caused a delay on
RIM s contract renewal with the BellSouth company and also their quarterly earnings report came

NPT attorneys discovered that the SAM version they were showing was not the vintage version of it

cause a shutdown to Blackberry systems on the US. In March 2005 both companies tried to reach an
agreement that will make RIM to pay $450 million dollars, the negotiations broke down due to other
issues. The US Department of Defense filed a brief to allow RIM s service to be allowed on the US
due to the large number of users on the United States Federal Government. Later on 2006 they finally
agreed to a settlement and RIM agreed to pay a sum of $612 million USD. On July 2003, while still
involved on the NTP and Good Technology lawsuits, they also filed a suit against Xerox filed as a
response to some patent discussions made by Xerox that could have affected RIM. Almost two months
after the agreement settled with NTP, Visto sued RIM for infringement of four patents. And recently
on January 2010 Motorola requested to ban all of the Blackberry phones from being imported into the
US and filed a lawsuit claiming that they have infringed on multiple patent. RIM already won a case
to Motorola on the UK but they are still fighting with Motorola about this in the US. This case

Epik Essay Letter
Ever since I graduated from Dalhousie University, I have been teaching English in Korea. In July of
2007 I went to Daegu to teach at a hagwon. Before I graduated, I spent my last year of university
researching Korean society and culture. I wanted to know as much about the country and people as
possible before heading there. When I arrived in Daegu, I was surprised by how well I managed to fit
in so quickly. I was expecting culture shock, as I had never been out of North America before. My
students and co workers thought it was strange of me to not feel isolated and alone in Korea, so far
from Canada, but it was never an issue.
Teaching English seemed the best way to explore Korea for a recently graduated individual. Although
I was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While my Korean friends are surprised by my knowledge, my skills are still quite basic. It is my
intention to study Korean history at the graduate level in the near future, so a deeper understanding of
the Korean language is a necessity. I also strongly believe I can help many students achieve their
academic dreams, stemming from previous success I had.
When it comes to my educational philosophy, it is quite varied. I believe in leading by example since,
as a teacher, I should be the students role model. I believe teachers should be very flexible with their
techniques, as not all students learn the same way or at the same rate. Learning should be a natural
process and is best nurtured through interest. While books are useful tools, other avenues must be used
as well (multi media, games, activities, role playing etc). Students should look at mistakes as a chance
to learn and better themselves, rather than as obstacles. Teachers should be fair in both punishing and
rewarding students. As a teacher, I was always keenly aware I held my students futures in the palms of
my hands. That is a responsibility I do not take

Elie Wiesel s My Hero
There are many views on what a hero is. When you hear the word hero, what is the first thing that
comes to mind? Do you imagine Superman saving a damsel in distress, perhaps you think of a family
member, or a popstar? Over time the word hero has mutated and become disfigured, so that our
generation has no idea what it truly means. So, what is a hero and is it healthy to give them our
adoration?
In the article, My Hero: Extraordinary People on the Heroes Who Inspire Them by Elie Wiesel, the
author expresses his opinion on the idea of heroes. Wiesel starts off by stating, I am deeply skeptical
about the very concept of the hero for many reasons and I am uncomfortable with what happens in
societies where heroes are worshipped. He continues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weisel thinks that people blindly believe in their heroes without knowing them, or what they stand for.
Jack rises to power, because the other boys need someone or something to believe in. Jack knows this,
so he takes advantage of the situation. He says, I ought to be chief, because I m chapter chorister and
head boy. I can sing C sharp (William Golding 23). The choir boys have already experienced so much
change, so they need to have a constant in their lives. Jack was already their leader before, so they
decide to follow him. At the time, the boys had no idea Jack stood for savagery, but when they find out
it s too late to turn back. The boys are already hooked by Jack, so they decide to stand by him. Jason s
opinion that heroes aren t that special, is true. Jack, leader of the choir boys, and Ralph, leader of all
the others, were just normal boys too. These two boys were just put in abnormal positions.
I believe both men have an ineffectual point in their essays. It would be difficult to go through this
world without believing in heroes. Heroes give strength and encourage people. Yes, I agree people
need to know their heroes, and understand their motives. It s not safe to give strangers blatant
idolization. With worship and idolization comes power. I also agree that our heroes are not all that
special. They are still people like us, and they make mistakes. Furthermore, there is still an importance
in having heroes.

Critical Analysis Of Punishment, By Seamus Heaney
Analysis of Punishment
Punishment, written by Seamus Heaney, is a poetry that has a corpse of a girl being as the main
subject. In this poem, Seamus Heaney indirectly links the brutality behind the corpse of a girl to the
modern form of brutality that existed when Irish rebels killed Irish females who were married to
Britain soldiers. This analysis of Punishment is divided into three main parts. First is to answer the
question To what extent is the poem lyrical? Next is an analysis of Seamus Heaney s usage of patterns
of sounds and phonologies. Last is an analysis of emotionally significant experiences.
A lyric poetry is a kind poetry that expresses a personal feeling of the poet, are spoken in the present
tense, and also has specific rhyming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poet, in this stanza, is actually trying to allure readers to think that the girl charged for her
adultery for doing love in not a crime. Next, in stanza 7, the poet uses an idiomatic language to
describe the poor girl and calls her as My poor scapegoat. The usage of this idiomatic language shows
the poet s sorrow and pity feelings towards the girl due to the fact that the girl is considered as the
only victim because the other accomplice is a male. However, towards the end of the poetry, the poet s
attitude varies compared to that of in the beginning. In stanza 8, Seamus Heaney shows an ambivalent
attitude regarding his relation to the girl. He first claim to be in love with the girl by saying I almost
love you, but also shows his helplessness that he could do nothing by saying the stones of silence and
I am the artful voyeur. The stones of silence in this case is considered as an exophoric allusion or a
kind of cohesive sign and I am the artful voyeur , someone who consistently watch others bathe,
describes the poet s situation on how he could only observe the scene from a distance only to draw it
artistically. One reason for this kind observation could be because the girl and the poet lived

Everyday Use By Alice Walker Point Of View
Everyday Use by Alice Walker is told from the point of view of Mama who goes by no other name.
She could be referred to as Mrs. Johnson, but the line, Who ever knew a Johnson with a quick tongue?
(Walker, 337), leads me to believe that Johnson is her maiden name. To be a mother is who and what
she is, in this story, with no especial plans for when her youngest gets married. While she would be
considered the protagonist, I feel that both Maggie and Dee are as equally integral to the story, and all
have their own and share antagonists. The short story may be told from Mama s point of view but the
plot truly revolves around all three. Each of the three main characters have at least one antagonist in
common: the time period in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When she does ask, far from expecting to hear No, and is told that they d been promised to Maggie,
she gets angry. Dee had been offered a quilt before she went away to college, but declined because
they were out of style. Now, it seems, she sees the value in them, and the need to preserve. What
would happen to the quilts on the wall or the pieces of the churn when they went out of style? What if
she never thought of anything artistic to do with the dasher? What if she moved and didn t have an
alcove with a table large enough for a centerpiece, or the room for these pieces of art? We can only
imagine, because as soon as Maggie says that Dee can have them, and that she can member Grandma
Dee without the quilts (342), it s obvious which girl deserves them. This isn t lost on Mama, and in
taking action giving quilts to Maggie she stands up to her own personal antagonist and in doing so,
negates Maggie s antagonistic idea that her lot in life is to lose.
If it weren t for Dee s entitled attitude towards her family and outward lack of respect for them, you
could feel more easily that the time period was her antagonist, as well. She was not all bad, and had a
very real appreciation for the benches, churn top, and quilts. As David Cowart put

  • 2. Blood Pressure, The Pressure Of Blood Blood pressure, the pressure of blood in the circulatory system, is a vital aspect to the human body in order to maintain homeostasis. Many Americans are not aware of the seriousness of having high blood pressure. High blood pressure is called Hypertension, which can be a silent killer if untreated. There are many causes of Hypertension, including diet, age and race. Doctors now are making classifications of pre hypertensive, which can help patients maintain their health and possibly avoid hypertension, if they follow the advice of their physician. Americans should eliminate fatty foods from their diet, be mindful of their age and race as they may become prone to Hypertension, which can lead to heart damage, heart disease, congestive heart failure, stroke and maybe death if untreated. It is important to know what to do if one s blood pressure approaches the extremes, as it can be a sign of a serious health problem. Knowing what the norm is for systolic and diastolic pressure can help eliminate health dangers. An unusual blood pressure reading by itself, may not necessarily demand a 911 call (Thomas, George M.D, 2015). While the unusual blood pressure reading may not be a 911 emergency at that moment, it can still be a sign of trouble arising. It is important for to realize the seriousness of rises in blood pressure. Hypertension can be prevented with regular checking and monitoring of the blood pressure. If blood pressure reaches 140/90 or higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Weinstein Sexual Harassment On October 5th, The New York Times released an article revealing sexual harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein, in which multiple women, including famous actresses, came forward accusing Weinstein of sexual assault. On October 8th, the Weinstein Company fired Weinstein, who later resigned from the company s board on October 17th. Dozens of women in Hollywood have since come out to speak against Weinstein, including Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow with specific incidents of harassment. Other actresses, such as Meryl Streep and Judi Dench have spoken out against the treatment of women in Hollywood, though they did not have any incidents with Weinstein. Women should never be forced to face sexual harassment for fear of losing their jobs. The shocking fact of the entire situation is how well known this secret was in Hollywood. And it begs the question: how do you separate art from the artist? Harvey Weinstein has produced some of the most extraordinary films of all time, but that doesn t excuse his actions. Reports of sexual harassment allegations against men in the film industry are incredibly common these days, but does that mean we need to completely disregard the films they ve made? It s hard to appreciate someone s work in the same way after learning about a sexual harassment charge against them, but movies are made by thousands of people, and should all their work be disregarded because of one person s actions? It s difficult to find the line at where to judge people, because artists aren t the same as their art, but we should still acknowledge their past mistakes. While it s terrible that something so horrific had to happen to bring this to the attention of the media, it brings hope for the future. For the first time, women are being listened to. People are finally being held accountable for their actions, and while it s hard to acknowledge that this has been a well kept secret for decades, it s created a community where women are able to share their personal ... At this time the use of steel swords were very beneficial, because the Spaniards had them where the Incans did not. I believe that the victory of this invasion was based off of the more advanced ethnic group, because the Spaniards had the more advanced weapons and technology. This victory is a shock to me, because the Spaniards were un aware of the terrain and the Incans has the home field advantage. The reason Pizarro succeeded was he had originally gained the trust of Atahualpa and then captured him and used his advanced weaponry to conquer the Incans Chapter 4: Farmer Power Write a paragraph explaining the chart. It is interesting to note that the four major phases of photogrammetry are directly related to the technological inventions of photography, airplanes, computers and electronics. Figure below depicts the four generations of photogrammetry. Photogrammetry had its beginning with the invention of photography by Daguerre and Niepce in 1839.The first generation, from the middle to the end of last century, was very much a pioneering and experimental phase with remarkable achievements in terrestrial and balloon photogrammetry. The second generation, usually referred to as analog photogrammetry, is characterized by the invention of stereo photogrammetry ... • 6. Description Of Borderline Personality Disorder Rationale for diagnosis: I arrived at the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder for several different reasons. According to the American Psychiatric Association (2013), Borderline Personality Disorder is defined as A pervasive pattern of instability of interpersonal relationships, self image, and affects, and marked impulsivity, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts. One of the defining characteristics within this definition for Borderline Personality Disorder is Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment . Robin s case states that she would often verbally downgrade her companions and then a short time later she would end up worrying that she may have estranged them. Robin would then do something kind for her companions to keep them close and remain devoted to her. Robin meets this defining characteristic because, as stated, she becomes frantic when she feels that someone is going to abandon her and puts forth an effort to do something kind for them to avoid this abandonment. Another defining characteristic of Borderline Personality Disorder is A pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation . (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Robin s personal relationships with others were said to be quite abnormal; she would rapidly and with no reason shift from one mood to another. This seems to describe a pattern between Robin valuing her friends at times, yet also belittling them at other times in an extreme and alternating manner. Another characteristic that Robin possesses that is used in describing Borderline Personality Disorder is Impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self damaging . (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). The two areas that Robin portrays acts of self damaging are through substance abuse (in Robin s case, alcohol) and binge eating due to her having Bulimia Nervosa. On a side note, eating disorders, particularly bulimia, are common in people with Borderline Personality Disorder; almost 25% of bulimics have the disorder. (Zanarini, Reichman, Frankenburg, Reich, Fitzmaurice, 2010), and, up to 67% of the people with this disorder are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Nuclear Weapons During The Cold War Era Essay The development and use of nuclear weapons in 1945 changed not only warfare, but how countries approach warfare as a whole. As Andrew Heywood notes in his book, Global Politics, says that there s a tendency for any weapons to proliferate or spread. With that knowledge it should be assumed that many nations would want to obtain nuclear weapons after seeing what the power that they hold. A state being in possession of a nuclear weapon can deter potential enemies and make them a power on the global scale. The Cold War era and post Cold War era both saw an in increase in the spread of nuclear weapons. During the Cold War, after the US first used a nuclear weapon in 1945, states that gained nuclear capabilities were the France, the UK, China and the Soviet Union. Post Cold War era India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea all gained nuclear weapons and shows the problem with proliferation of them. India and Pakistan are neighboring states and rivals which can lead to the possibility that they could be used at any moment. North Korea is a dangerous militaristic state that constantly threatens other states. This illustrates that the spread of nuclear weapons is a global problem because nuclear proliferation can possibly put WMDS, weapons of mass destruction, in the hands of rival states or extremely dangerous nations. There s also the possibility of them falling into the hands of non state actors such as terrorists groups. Nuclear proliferation and nuclear disarmament/arms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Shock Is A Life Threatening Condition Of Circulatory... Shock is a life threatening condition of circulatory failure that most commonly presents with hypotension. The effects of shock are initially reversible but can rapidly become irreversible, resulting in multi organ failure (MOF) and death. when a patient present with undifferentiated hypotension, it is important that the clinician rapidly identify the aetiology so that appropriate therapy can be administered to prevent MOF and death (Vincent, 2013). Assessment of hemodynamic status in a shock state remains a challenging issue in Emergency Medicine. Early recognition and appropriate treatment of shock have been shown to decrease mortality (Moore and Copel, 2011; Volpicelli, 2011). In case of medical emergencies there may not be enough time to perform detailed diagnostic procedures and eliminating any imminently life threatening conditions from the possibilities is always challenging in a busy ED. Shock is defined as circulatory insufficiency that leads to under perfusion of organs in the body, which can result in multi organ failure. Undifferentiated shock refers to the situation where shock is recognized, but the cause is unclear. In general shock can be classified into 4 subtypes (Tintinalli, 2010): Hypovolemic shock this happens as a result of severe blood or fluid loss as can be seen in haemorrhage, rupture of aortic aneurysm, severe diarrhoea, vomiting. Distributive shock this type of shock happens when the core intravascular volume is insufficient to maintain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Theory Of Property Rights By Harold Demsetz Theory of Property Rights By Harold Demsetz (UChicago) The concept and role of property rights It this first part, Demsetz offers a more theoretical foundation for the concepts he will use in the following parts. The author starts defining the idea of property rights and differentiating how they transmit the right to benefit or harm oneself or others. After, he links it with the recognition a close relationship between property rights and externalities. The process of Internalizing such effects refers to a change in property rights, that enables these effects to bear (in greater degree) on all interacting persons. They become part of the economy. The example of the military draft is used later to show how the costs of internalization have to be higher to its gains. The lower the cost the greater the number of transactions and the degree to which they take place. Lastly, in this section, Demsetz defines the framework of his analysis, what would happen if transaction costs of internalizing were zero? There are two main implications, on the first one he states that the output mix is efficient for all players involved. Secondly, that the mix is independent of who is assigned the ownership. • 13. Slaughter s Essay Why Men Still Can T Have It All Parthkumar Patel ENG 101 142A Professor Darlene Anderson 10/26/2017 Why Humans Still Can t Have It All? It is commonly known that it is hard to maintain two things at the same time. For example, If someone is a full time caretaker of the children, it s hard to maintain both work and family. This applies more to women because they are usually the primary caretaker of their children and their family. Anne Marie Slaughter, in her essay Why Women Still Can t Have It All, said that she had to put her work down to fully invest her time to support her children. On the other side, Richard Dorment, author of Why Men Still Can t Have It All, states that it is not only women who can t have it all, but also men can t have it all so no one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Richard Dorment thought no one can have it all because everyone has to sacrifice something for family.Although Slaughter and Dorment thought they couldn t have it all, not everyone in this earth would have thought the same way they did. Some people might have been satisfied with the way their lives are with work and family. They might not have a free schedule but they may be able to come home when necessary. Someone might say that they have it all just because they are satisfied with their journey of their life which is opposite of what Slaughter and Dorment argued. If people believed and claimed that they have it all, than no one can say that they don t have it all because having it all depends on one s own belief and mind. If someone thinks that distributing housework is sacrificing, then it is a sacrifice to them. But if someone thinks doing chores is not sacrificing, but it s just a part of everyone s life. If everyone start to think that sacrificing is their job, there will be less people to complain that they don t have it all. Likewise, Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher who carries heavy influence on thought. Therefore, Aristotle has certain ideas as to what elements drama should try to accomplish. This specific performance of Eurydice ties in all six of these elements of drama, which includes plot, theme, character, diction, music, and spectacle. Research and Trends (please use more than one source when answering this question) In 2006, CNSTAT(The Committee on National Statistics) asked the USDA to clarify and make a clear distinction between hunger and food insecurity. What the USDA came back with was the following definitions (USDA, 2014): Food insecurity, is a household level economic and social condition of limited or uncertain access to adequate food. Hunger is an individual level physiological condition that may result from food insecurity (USDA, 2014, CNSTAT Review and Recommendations, para. 3). One of the main causes of food insecurity is Poverty. In 2012, the percentage of adults and children afflicted by poverty in Pinellas County was calculated, and the percentage they found with was a startling and quite worrisome number. It was estimated that 14% of adults and 21% of children in Pinellas County are in poverty. That s over 130,000 Pinellas County residents who are in poverty and may not be able to afford their next meal (Pinellas County, 2014). • 18. My Life After The Athletic Banquet The day after the Athletic Banquet brought with it puffy eyes from crying myself to sleep. As hard as I tried, I could not seem to escape my pity party or shake the feelings of disappointment. I enjoyed participating in sports. Every day, my heart and soul laid on the court, along with my best effort and sportsmanship, but I understood that athletics wouldn t take me anywhere past high school. Reason and theoretical thinking kept me from being serious about section and state competitions, and for that reason, as well as my lack of athleticism, I seldom received playing time, especially on varsity. Instead I discovered myself on the junior varsity team most years, and although most students and coaches viewed me as not good enough, I would not allow myself to look through that lens. In my mind, JV was an opportunity. Naturally a leader, I sought to lead the younger girls, not necessarily to scoring victories, but ones developed outside the gym; I yearned to shape the younger athletes into better people. Determined to make my dream a reality, I blocked out the voice that reiterated, Alli, you deserve to be on varsity. You have been here longer than those other girls, you are talented, you have a better attitude, fight for that spot. That voice could have killed me, but I set my eyes on the goal and was determined to reach it. By the end of the season, our team set a record of eighteen wins and six loses, but that wasn t what made the season worth it. That season gave me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The question of who is responsible for creating counting and numbers is still unknown today. Historians and researchers have difficulty pinpointing who should be credited for the creation. Some also wonder how this numeration system was able to reach so many countries. As one will see the spreading of the system was like a domino effect. The Handy Math Answer Book explains that the Arabs were among the first to adopt this counting arrangement from the Indians. India was able to pass on this counting system through the trade routes of Northern Africa, which caught the attention of Arabs inhabiting this area ( (Barnes Svarney and Svarney ). In other words, the part is missing the whole . Friedrich Schiller on the Sixth Letter of his text On the Aesthetic Education of Man in a Series of Letters gives an example of a culture, which was not wanting. This culture, the Hellenic Greeks, seemed to manage a perfect balance between art and wisdom, and their connection to nature, for they realized art and wisdom were not something of their own that detached them from nature, but that they were the road itself, which one had to take to find his way towards nature. Schiller states this differently. For they were wedded [the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schiller asserts that beauty is an aesthetic unity of thought and feeling, of reason and emotion. It Is by the attainment of this unity that Schiller believes enables human nature to be realized and fulfilled. That Beauty may lead to truth, meaning one can become the ideal through joining the logical and the emotional. However, when truth is perceived, feeling may follow thought, or thought may follow feeling.(189) When beauty is understood, thought is unified with feeling. He states the need for this unity much beautifully than just a philosopher could The reality of things is the work of the things; the appearance of things is the work of man and a nature which delights in appearance no longer takes pleasure in what it receives, but in what it does (125). At first, the second half did not make much sense, but upon reflection one may see that Schiller is saying we should not just revel in what the senses take in, but use our reason to look deeper, beyond the surface. Schiller however does not believe this is a realistic goal or even an attainable one, as we discussed in class. Schiller needs to make some sort of distinction between the potential Man and the goal of Man, as a manifestation or visualization of that potential or archetype. The impossibility of ever attaining the ideal calls for the identification of potential and goal, which shows that they cancel each other out: unrealizable potential is not, ... It simply states that it is the sexual habits and desires of a person. Any person, male, female, transgender, or otherwise, can be sexual with whomever they desire. So why is the dichotomy of homosexuality versus heterosexuality such a pervasive notion? There are multiple myths and facts about sexual orientation. Others learn much later in life, in their 30 s, 40 s or later still. Some research indicates that sexual orientation is determined between birth and age 3, but no one is sure what causes particular orientations. • 35. Fun Home By Jeffery Eugenides Essay What does it mean to be queer? The Merriam Webster Dictionary states that queer is differing in some odd way from what is usual or normal ( Definition of Queer ). By this definition, all humans are queer in their own way. When looking at the novel Middlesex, written by Jeffery Eugenides, and the graphic novel Fun Home, written by Alison Bechdel, queerness is seen in multiple aspects within the characters and styles of writing. Eugenides writes Middlesex through the all knowing character of Cal, who was born and raised a female but later discovered to have both male and female genitals. During the time of puberty, her queerness becomes more present as she realizes how much she differs from her classmates. When a doctor finally tells her that her genetic makeup is male, Cal runs away to take on this new identity. Contrasting this to the graphic novel Fun Home, Bechdel writes a memoir of her life, retelling the story of her family and the revelation of her sexual identity. A strong emphasis is put on Bechdel s father, who is found to have homosexual tendencies, and the relationship the two form through their queerness. Queerness, in the sense of non normativity, is seen within the texts of Middlesex and Fun Home and can be compared and contrasted by the ways in which the characters identify themselves as queer, how the styles of narratives reflect queerness, and how the families of the protagonists are incidentally queer themselves. I work with all different kinds of people whom all have different kind of personalities that all bring different attitudes; but I have taken the time to understand them and get to know them so if I see someone flustered I know if they need help or if I m hovering. I can feel when things get edgy in the work place and sometimes we get cranky in the middle of a busy day, but at the end of the day we are all still one big happy dysfunctional work family that come with many different skills in order to deal with such a wide variety of personality. second, knowing to open conversations to get people to give me career assistance. At first I used to hate to ask for assistance because I didn t like feeling as if a question I had was stupid or not. Now if I can t learn something on my own I am more than happy to ask for assistance because not only does it show an interest in learning something new, but to ask a certain individual and make them feel good that I thought of them to ask for assistance makes it a happy learning experience. Lastly understanding how to resolve conflicts in a way that does not hurt relationships. whether the conflict is with me and someone else or between my employees I always like to make sure that by the end of the situation we are all on the same page and that whatever situation is we can fix it. About a year ago I had a situation with a coworker and I can t remember what she said, but I had been flustered about something so when she had said something to me my response was a little rude and she kind of ... • 41. Cultural Discrimination In Pecola By Toni Morrison There is also the lack of healthy interpersonal relationship between the parents and child. Cholly Breedlove twice rapes his biological daughter in a fit of drunkenness and impregnates her. Pecola does not receive the parental love and care which she was supposed to get from her parents. Cholly is an absent and uncaring father. Whereas, Paulin does not believe her daughter when she gets to know that Cholly, her husband, has raped their daughter Pecola. She beats Pecola instead and makes her unconscious. Cholly s blackness infuriates him and compels him to believe that he is ugly and so he does not deserve a better life. He is a sadist character who only loves to inflict pain on others. This novel also demonstrates how centuries of cultural mutilation of Black people in America leads to a psychological oppression and subjugation. Self proclaimed inferiority operated in the Blacks of America and they could not break their minds free from the shackles of racial inferiority. It became a culturally imposed racism for them. Their blackness implied their inferiority to the Whites in America. Similarly, the Breedlove family also accepts the hollow notion of whiteness and consequently experiences its damaging outcomes. In Pecola, there operates a growing self loathing. Through her character, Morrison attempts to paint a more complicated and deeper portrayal of the effects of racism via how self loathing eclipses the minds of Black people. • 42. Nobel Prize Awarded to Randy W. Schekman, James E.... Each year, The Nobel Assembly in Karolinska Institutet distributes various Noble Prizes to recipients who have demonstrated a monumental contribution to the sciences. In 2013, the 50 professors that constitute the Nobel Assembly awarded The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to Randy W. Schekman, James E. Rothman, and Thomas C. Südhof for their contribution in uncovering the details of vesicle transport within a cell. More specifically, these scientists have elaborated on the knowledge of how cargo is delivered to the correct place within a eukaryotic cell at the correct time. The compartmentalized eukaryotic cell must retain the ability to ensure that correct vesicles are shipped to the required destination at appropriate times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In these mutant yeast cells, the typical vesicle transport system was abnormal, which allowed detection of specific genes that were related to these mutations. These screenings eventually led to the identification of twenty three separate genes that could be classified into three groups based on their effects on membranes involved in traffic. These membranes include the endoplasmic reticulum, the Golgi Apparatus, and the plasma membrane (Novick and Schekman, 1979). James Rothman dissected the transport mechanism by purifying and identifying proteins used in transport. The NSF, SNAP and SNARE proteins act as docking sites to enable vesicles to fuse to specific target membranes. This explains the precision of transport; the proteins only combined with certain cargo. The ability to purify the NSF protein was made possible by the identification of the VSV G protein. The VSV G protein is labeled by a sugar when it comes in contact with the Golgi Apparatus, simplifying documentation. Genes code for proteins used in fusion, exemplified by how the sec18 gene relates to NSF. Sec17 relates to the SNAP protein in a similar manner. The discovery of the SNAP protein allowed for the revelation of SNARE proteins found in brain tissue. SNARE proteins are a gateway to the fusion and docking of vesicles in a very specific manner: only an exclusive number of target SNAREs (t SNAREs) would bind to specific vesicle SNAREs, or v SNAREs ... A natural monopoly is an industry in which one business already exists is not economical because the competing business would not be able to reduce their prices as low as the price of the natural monopoly and therefore wouldn t be profitable. Natural monopolies are established when multiple firms startup costs are too high to enter the industry. The public interest theory of regulation, or economic theory of regulation states that industrial regulation is essential in maintaining a natural monopoly. Natural monopolies turning into a regular monopoly charging monopoly prices can be harmful to society. Something that everyone most generally uses or needs like public resources i.e. electricity and water. Almost every person in our society requires these resources. The initial cost for creating a firm that can provide these services is high. Some startup cost can include power stations as well as power lines, labor costs, the cost of producing the power, and many other costs. These naturally occurring costs can often bar entry or discourage entry into the industry. Before I graduated, I spent my last year of university researching Korean society and culture. I wanted to know as much about the country and people as possible before heading there. When I arrived in Daegu, I was surprised by how well I managed to fit in so quickly. I was expecting culture shock, as I had never been out of North America before. I believe in leading by example since, as a teacher, I should be the students role model. I believe teachers should be very flexible with their techniques, as not all students learn the same way or at the same rate. Learning should be a natural process and is best nurtured through interest. While books are useful tools, other avenues must be used as well (multi media, games, activities, role playing etc). Students should look at mistakes as a chance to learn and better themselves, rather than as obstacles. Teachers should be fair in both punishing and rewarding students. • 48. Elie Wiesel s My Hero There are many views on what a hero is. When you hear the word hero, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Do you imagine Superman saving a damsel in distress, perhaps you think of a family member, or a popstar? Over time the word hero has mutated and become disfigured, so that our generation has no idea what it truly means. So, what is a hero and is it healthy to give them our adoration? In the article, My Hero: Extraordinary People on the Heroes Who Inspire Them by Elie Wiesel, the author expresses his opinion on the idea of heroes. Wiesel starts off by stating, I am deeply skeptical about the very concept of the hero for many reasons and I am uncomfortable with what happens in societies where heroes are worshipped. He continues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Weisel thinks that people blindly believe in their heroes without knowing them, or what they stand for. At the time, the boys had no idea Jack stood for savagery, but when they find out it s too late to turn back. The boys are already hooked by Jack, so they decide to stand by him. Jason s opinion that heroes aren t that special, is true. Jack, leader of the choir boys, and Ralph, leader of all the others, were just normal boys too. These two boys were just put in abnormal positions. I believe both men have an ineffectual point in their essays. It would be difficult to go through this world without believing in heroes. Heroes give strength and encourage people. Yes, I agree people need to know their heroes, and understand their motives. It s not safe to give strangers blatant idolization. • 49. Critical Analysis Of Punishment, By Seamus Heaney Analysis of Punishment Punishment, written by Seamus Heaney, is a poetry that has a corpse of a girl being as the main subject. In this poem, Seamus Heaney indirectly links the brutality behind the corpse of a girl to the modern form of brutality that existed when Irish rebels killed Irish females who were married to Britain soldiers. This analysis of Punishment is divided into three main parts. First is to answer the question To what extent is the poem lyrical? Next is an analysis of Seamus Heaney s usage of patterns of sounds and phonologies. Last is an analysis of emotionally significant experiences. The poet, in this stanza, is actually trying to allure readers to think that the girl charged for her adultery for doing love in not a crime. Next, in stanza 7, the poet uses an idiomatic language to describe the poor girl and calls her as My poor scapegoat. The usage of this idiomatic language shows the poet s sorrow and pity feelings towards the girl due to the fact that the girl is considered as the only victim because the other accomplice is a male. However, towards the end of the poetry, the poet s attitude varies compared to that of in the beginning. In stanza 8, Seamus Heaney shows an ambivalent attitude regarding his relation to the girl. He first claim to be in love with the girl by saying I almost love you, but also shows his helplessness that he could do nothing by saying the stones of silence and I am the artful voyeur. The stones of silence in this case is considered as an exophoric allusion or a kind of cohesive sign and I am the artful voyeur , someone who consistently watch others bathe, describes the poet s situation on how he could only observe the scene from a distance only to draw it artistically. • 50. Everyday Use By Alice Walker Point Of View Everyday Use by Alice Walker is told from the point of view of Mama who goes by no other name. She could be referred to as Mrs. Johnson, but the line, Who ever knew a Johnson with a quick tongue? (Walker, 337), leads me to believe that Johnson is her maiden name. To be a mother is who and what she is, in this story, with no especial plans for when her youngest gets married. While she would be considered the protagonist, I feel that both Maggie and Dee are as equally integral to the story, and all have their own and share antagonists. The short story may be told from Mama s point of view but the plot truly revolves around all three. Dee had been offered a quilt before she went away to college, but declined because they were out of style. Now, it seems, she sees the value in them, and the need to preserve. What would happen to the quilts on the wall or the pieces of the churn when they went out of style? What if she never thought of anything artistic to do with the dasher? What if she moved and didn t have an alcove with a table large enough for a centerpiece, or the room for these pieces of art? We can only imagine, because as soon as Maggie says that Dee can have them, and that she can member Grandma Dee without the quilts (342), it s obvious which girl deserves them. This isn t lost on Mama, and in taking action giving quilts to Maggie she stands up to her own personal antagonist and in doing so, negates Maggie s antagonistic idea that her lot in life is to lose. If it weren t for Dee s entitled attitude towards her family and outward lack of respect for them, you could feel more easily that the time period was her antagonist, as well.
