The Assure Method: Teaching Holiday Traditions
Analyze Learners
Twenty fourth grade students. There are eleven girls and nine boys. Two students are Muslims,
three are Jewish, and two are African Americans.
State Objectives
Students will identify at least 5 holiday traditions at the end of this lesson with 100% accuracy.
In small groups, students will conduct extensive research on one holiday traditions of there
choosing and present it to the class. The research collected must be %100 accuracy. When
presenting their findings, students will either create a PowerPoint presentation of use a poster
board to display their information and will contain no grammatical errors.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials
In order to complete the objectives, students will use the Internet, poster board, computers,
PowerPoint, printers (if needed), and coloring materials such as markers, colored pencils, rulers,
and tape.
Utilize Media and Materials
Students will use the materials listed above to create a presentation to display their research. This
will give students the opportunity to share what information they found with the rest of the class.
Require Learner Participation
Students will be attentive when fellow classmates are presenting their findings. In order to ensure
students are paying attention, each student will be required to write three things they learned
from a presentation and turn it in at the end of the lesson.
Evaluate and Revise
Stephanie Sullivan
Every student will provide me with written feedback about the lesson. For example, students will
explain and describe what they liked or didn’t like about the lesson. Students will participate in
group discussion regarding what they learned from the presentations. Students will complete a
short assignment where they complete one of the objectives by naming at least five holiday
traditions with 100% accuracy.

Students will participate in group discussion regarding what they learned from the presentations. Students will complete a short assignment where they complete one of the objectives by naming at least five holiday traditions with 100% accuracy.
