ASSURE Assignment 
A – Analyze Learners 
The purpose of this lesson is to teach holiday traditions to a class of fourth grade students. There are a 
total of twenty students, with eleven girls and nine boys. This classroom is very culturally diverse, and 
includes two Muslims, three Jewish, and two African Americans. 
S- State Objectives 
My students will demonstrate knowledge of each holiday tradition taught in class, as well as 
understanding of the cultures that practice these traditions after sharing a report on their own holiday 
traditions, playing games and singing songs associated with the holidays, watching videos, visiting 
holiday stations which will be set up around the room, and creating a class presentation on the holiday 
traditions of their choice. This should be accomplished by the end of the week with 85% accuracy. 
S- Selection of Media Method and Material 
Students will have access to the computer lab where they can look up videos and other information to 
be used in their presentation. 
U- Utilize Media and Materials 
I will preview materials by requiring students to turn in a rough draft of their presentation. I will prepare 
the materials by being sure that all equipment students may want to use is working properly before I 
begin presentations. The environment will have holiday stations set up around the room for students to 
visit. There will be a station for each holiday, with related objects and information in each station. I will 
present the overall plan and objectives for the lesson to prepare the students and avoid any confusion 
by answering all questions they may have. When introducing this lesson, I will present materials using a 
laptop computer and the large screen projector. 
R-Require Learner Participation 
All students will participate in a large group activity in which I will divide the class into three different 
teams. I will then instruct each team to come up with questions or statements about a specific holiday 
tradition. The team that comes up with the correct answer first will receive a point, and the team with 
the most points wins. Each teammate will have an opportunity to answer. 
E- Evaluate and Revise 
The following rating for will be used to evaluate students’ knowledge of holiday traditions. 
1. Report on personal holiday traditions (25 points)
2. Presentation on Holiday Traditions (50 points) 
3. Quiz on holiday traditions (25 points)

S- State Objectives My students will demonstrate knowledge of each holiday tradition taught in class, as well as understanding of the cultures that practice these traditions after sharing a report on their own holiday traditions, playing games and singing songs associated with the holidays, watching videos, visiting holiday stations which will be set up around the room, and creating a class presentation on the holiday traditions of their choice. This should be accomplished by the end of the week with 85% accuracy. S- Selection of Media Method and Material Students will have access to the computer lab where they can look up videos and other information to be used in their presentation. U- Utilize Media and Materials I will preview materials by requiring students to turn in a rough draft of their presentation. I will prepare the materials by being sure that all equipment students may want to use is working properly before I begin presentations. The environment will have holiday stations set up around the room for students to visit. There will be a station for each holiday, with related objects and information in each station. I will present the overall plan and objectives for the lesson to prepare the students and avoid any confusion by answering all questions they may have. When introducing this lesson, I will present materials using a laptop computer and the large screen projector. R-Require Learner Participation All students will participate in a large group activity in which I will divide the class into three different teams. I will then instruct each team to come up with questions or statements about a specific holiday tradition. The team that comes up with the correct answer first will receive a point, and the team with the most points wins. Each teammate will have an opportunity to answer.
