Should Animals Be Kept In Zoos Essay
Zoos are the places where animals are kept. Some people argue that animals shall not be kept in
zoos as they deserve freedom. Zoos cannot provide them with enough space, therefore, they cannot
run around so as to grow up freely.
On the other hand, some people argue that animals should be kept in zoos. Nowadays, forests and
mountains have been cut down by people. If we leave animals alone, they might have nowhere to
find food and nowhere to live. It is for the sake of the animals themselves that we keep them in the
zoos.

The larger animals seemed to go quietly about their business but the animal that caught my attention
was the adult elephant that seemed to be pacing up and down out of boredom. This is
understandable because even though the park has given the elephants massive amounts of green
space to themselves, in the wild they are used to hundreds and hundreds of miles that become their
domain. The equivalent would be like placing a human under house arrest.
The more dangerous animals like lions and tigers are also given their own large enclosures and
people can view them from behind a glass screen. Their focus on that day was on keeping out of
the sun by lying under shady trees and Izmir zoo is very much backing the stance that if you do not
get to see an animal then you should return at a different time. They are not forcing the animals into
any ridiculous side shows involving party tricks and silly costumes.
Animals aside, the park does give a lot of information to visitors about the animal that they are
seeing and two days within a week are dedicated to educational tours for children. This is to
describe the traits, natural habitat and eating routines of an animal. It is quite plain to see that the
park aims to keep its animals in the best conditions possible however this does not distract from the
moral and ethically question of Should animals should be kept in

The Importance Of Dreams In James Welch s Fools Crow
A dream is a wish your heart makes, when you are fast asleep. This nostalgic melody sung by
Disney s Cinderella expresses the importance and meanings that dreams can have. In Native
American culture, dreams are used as tools to guide one through life. Many big decisions made
by Native Americans are influenced by dreams. It is said that supernatural powers or omens
from spirits or gods are to be received via dreams or visions. In receiving them, magical abilities,
or the ability to look into the future can be bestowed onto one. In Fools Crow, James Welch,
illustrates several characters having visions and dreams. Throughout the book the dreams are
seen as visions of the future. Welch uses these messages to reflect upon Native American culture
and to foreshadow motives or events that will affect the characters later in the book. Mik api,
the medicine man has a dream about a raven. Mik api asked White Man s Dog to prepare the
sweatlodge, thus beginning White Man s Dog s apprenticeship to him. Mik api begins telling
him about a dream he had the previous night. As I slept, the Raven came down to me from some
high place... (52) He explains how the Raven had stumbled upon a four legged creature known
has a wolverine. The wolverine had been trapped into one of the Napikwans traps, Raven jumped
down to save it, but was unsuccessful. As Mik api explains the dream to White Man s Dog he tells
him that he must find the wolverine and save it. In saving the animal, he would adopt the

The World In 6 Glasses Book Review
A History of the World in 6 Glasses This book takes place around the time of 10,000 BCE to
modern times. While reading you learn about three caffeinated and three alcoholic beverages that
has shaped the world throughout history. The first one of these drinks is beer in Mesopotamia and
Egypt in 10,000 BCE. Then Wine in Greece and Rome starting at around 9,000 BCE. Followed by
spirits in the 1300s, taking place in The West Indies, Africa, Europe, and the Colonies. After comes

For example; beer today is widely known as a drink of enjoyment, but in Egypt around 2500
BCE it was used as a form of payment for the workers you built the pyramids. The records
indicate that at the standard ration for laborer was three or four loaves of bread and two jugs
containing about four liter (eight American pints) of beer. Another example for the theme would
be Drinks like beer and tea where at once used as a form of currency. Tea also had a huge impact
in American history. The tea act of 1773 put a heavy tax on tea for the American colonist. This
act eventually led to The Boston Tea Party of 1773. Acts like tea act upset the colonist and
ultimately prompted the outbreak of the Revolutionary War in 1775. Showing how powerful
one drink can be. Another reason I picked this theme is because of Coca Cola. Every year around

Analysis Of Domestic Unrest And Jennifer Johnston s...
One of the critics who discuss Johnston s work is Laila Khan. In her essay, Domestic Unrest
and Jennifer Johnston s Fiction of the Irish Trouble, Khan focuses on how Johnston s novels do
not concentrate on the violence happening in the nation, but instead how she uses Irish domestic
fictions to explored alternative approaches to friendships and family bonds that could exist
when women reject nationalist narratives (2). Khan s essay analyzes these trends in
relationship to the mothers in Johnston s The Railway Station Man and Shadows on Our Skin.
While women often are representative of Ireland in Irish fictions, Khan notes that Johnston
purposely creates mothers that refuses to act as mouthpieces for national rhetoric in the home,
choosing instead passivity or alternative kinships as what they see as the only escape (3). An
example of this from Shadows on Our Skin is the way the Mrs. Logan has sent her eldest son
Brendon off to England in hopes of keeping him safe (3). According to Khan, the purpose of this
is to keep him away from his pro Nationalist father, [and] also out of the Irish public sphere (3). In
The Railway Station Man, Helen is less interested in protesting political involvement than she is in
escaping it entirely (6). It is because of this that Helen is unlike many mother, she does not force
her son to owe her anything (9). This analysis differs from the one that will be examined in this
paper because, while the mother is an important figure, she

The Importance Of Crime Prevention Through Environmental...
Crime Prevention through Environmental design s efforts to alter the physical design of an area to
impact the results of crime. Modern crime prevention roots in architectural design from the 1950s
1970s. Changes in the physical layout of an area increase the difficulty of an individual committing
a crimeas well as raising the chances of an offender being caught. Crime preventionthrough
environmental design is when the physical design of an environment influences positive behavior.
In the Dark
Crime is a social problem that affects most people in one way or another, whether the offender or
victim. Crime then generates a fear in people as a result of serious threats like murder, rape, break
ins and theft. As crime rates sky rockets more cities are requiring crime prevention features when
building a new project.
Crime Prevention through environmental design has been a successful method of crime control.
Cpted is consistent with problem oriented policing in that it leads to design proactive strategies for
solutions and accountability, considers a variety of problems, not only just for crime, engages not
only with citizens but with governmental officials and local agencies, and lastly a systematic
analysis of crime events and their conditions. Cpted makes design that offer protection without
making people feel like they have to resort to the prison camp approach. Crime prevention through

Fiscal Policies In Canada
Fiscal policies as described by Evie Adomait are any and all budgetary matters that relate to the
government, also referred to as the Department of Finance in these specific cases (p146). As we
all know, our current Prime Minster is Liberal and so the government s fiscal policies will be
focused more on investing and subsidizing social services. Prime Minister Trudeau has expressed
to Canada and other global leaders that he has no intentions of balancing the budget and urges
others to do the same. The Canadian government is focusing heavily on increasing government
spending and as a result, we are seeing an accumulation of debt that continues to grow at an
exponential rate. Before I proceed, it is important to make clear that I myself am fiscally... Show

As it stands the government is spending far beyond its means and is running excessive deficits
that will have a huge impact on the economy for years to come. After a single year we have
already witnessed the large decline in value of the Canadian dollar. The government should not be
expanding their means through fiscal policies that promote such debt. This places a burden on the
taxpayers of the country and the economy as a whole. My argument stands from the fact that the
government receives its income from the personal income of its residents and corporations.
Taxpayers elect a government on the basis that they will represent the needs of the people and an
important factor in this election process includes the proposed tax rates of each political
government. When a political government sets the tax rate it is recorded in legislation and
signifies that those funds should suffice. When a government begins to overspend and suffer from
a deficit they are forced to increase tax rates; our current government is a

Our group separated the research on Japan into sections of history, current Religious Education

that surrounded Japan: Shinto and Buddhism. In addition, two other religions, Confucianism and
Christianity, also contributed a considerate amount to the RE in Japan. The four major time periods
involving RE in the history of Japanwere Pre Meiji, Meiji Restoration Period, wartime era, and post
WWII (Inoue 115). There were religious tensions during the Tokugawa shogunate era that which

Shinto is the belief of kami, spirits, deities that exist as things in nature, such as trees or streams,
watching over the humans on Earth. To the Japanese, Shinto was not particularly a religion but
something that is part of their lives, like another part of the natural world, albeit a part of enormous
power (BBC: History 1). So, in a sense, religion actually came into Japan in the 6th century, when
Buddhism, founded by Prince Shotoku (571 622), was transmitted to Japan from China (Web Japan
2). After the birth of Buddhism into Japan, Shinto faiths and traditions took on Buddhist elements,
and later, Confucian ones (BBC: History 1). The Emperor Shomu (701 756) adopted Buddhism as
the official state religion and build a huge statute of Buddha to commemorate this occasion. Even
still, the coexistence of Buddhism and Shinto continued (Web Japan 2). Since Buddhism and Shinto
were the main beliefs in Japan, during the time in the 16th century, religious tensions with
Christianity grew when Christian missionaries tried to convert many of the Japanese (BBC:
History 2). Due to such actions of forced conversions, Christianity was seen as a threat in Japan
and in which made Buddhism and Shinto the dominant religions in the 17th century partly because
an anti Christian measure forced every Japanese person to register at a Buddhist temple and to pay
for the privilege of being a Buddhist (BBC: History

The Causes Of The Cultural Revolution Of China
Revolution: the deconstruction phase in the circle of societal reconstruction. In most cases, the
society rebuilds itself, improves, takes mistakes from the past, and makes sure to establish itself as
something new, distancing itself from its past faults. However, that is not always the case. The
cultural revolutionof China, lasting from 1966 1976, was a revolution unlike many others; it resulted
in the destruction of traditional Chinese culture, as well as the reshaping of the Chinese political
mentality.
Mao Zedong, the chairman of the Communist Party of China, was the chief instigator of the
revolution. Much of his motivations stemmed from his poor relationships with other party
leaders. This tension with the other members was caused by the Great Leap Forward, an attempt
by Mao to increase agricultural and industrial production in China within a very short span of
time. This resulted in the overworking of farmers, a famine with an estimated 40 million deaths,
and a disgrace for Mao (Ramzy). Even his intended successor, Liu Shaoqi, who was groomed to
perfection by Mao himself, turned his back on him after the disastrous attempt at reforming the
agricultural industry. However, due to Mao s well placed use of propaganda, he managed to
climb back to power, establish a loyal base, and spread his ideology across China. He believed the
Communist Party to be corrupt and need to be cleansed of those poisoned by intellectualism. Liu
Shaoqi, the newly elected president of China,

Dear Silent Partners Of Chocoholics Anonymous
Dear silent partners of Chocoholics Anonymous,
The purpose of this memo is to discuss the opposing views of shareholders and stakeholders,
evaluating our decision based on multiple ethical principles, focusing on Chocoholics Anonymous
profitability and ethical integrity.
Chocoholics Anonymous has a decline of sales and decrease of profits during the economic
downturn, and so do the other companies in town; and those companies fired employees to save
money which caused a rapidly growing unemployment rate. In order to control the increasing of
unemployment rate, the local economic development group cautioned local firms, in attempts to
lower layoffs, and the internal managers of Chocoholics Anonymous now has a conflict about the
decision to keep or fire a full time manager. By discussing and analyzing the different views of
shareholders (silent partners) and stakeholders (employees), in addition to acknowledging
government recommendations, it will be clear for Chocoholics Anonymous to make an applicable
and ethical decision.
When encountering the decision of Chocoholics Anonymous, silent partners voiced their greatest
concern, which was to guarantee and maximize profits; however, based on current corporate
culture, making decisions using the shareholder s view will be harmful to the company. The silent
partners, who are the shareholders in the company, believe they are most socially responsible when
maximizing profits, for this shares the maximum wealth from their company.

Persuasive Essay On The Vietnam War Memorial
We look at our past to see how far we have gotten. In the 1980 s there were events that impacted
our future forever. On November 13, the Vietnam War Memorial opened. Soldiers gave their
lives to protect people they didn t even know, and yet some don t see what they gave up.Also in
1983 Sally Ride became the first woman to fly in space. Now, because these events happened we
see that woman are just as powerful as men and they can accomplish anything. That the wall has
come with a great price and we should pay attention to it. We can learn from our past that no
matter where we are we can accomplish any goal we have for ourselves or others, we should
never give up no matter the cost it comes with, so we can move forward. The goal was to win the
war and to protect the United States, and it was the accomplished with the help of the soldiers.
Which cost some lives and to thank those people they opened the Vietnam War memorial. It
took a lot of effort and time to make this possible. The wall has a value that we give to the people
that served our country. The ones that died and the ones who marched. It tells the truth, gives
names and goes on and on. A Smithsonian Institution director called it a community of feelings,
almost a sacred precinct, and a veteran declared that it s the parade we never got. The Wall drew
together both those who fought and those who marched against the war and served to promote
national healing a decade after the divisive conflict s end. Veterans and families of the dead
walked the black reflective wall, seeking the names of their loved ones killed in the conflict. We
wouldn t have won the war if it wasn t for the soldiers everyone who served our country and gave
there life for us. They need a symbol that recognized them for what they did. There was also a lot
of money raised so this could happen. People take time to admire the names that are written on
there with honor. They didn t just give up their lives but also made their family suffer and gave
them up for everyone s protection and also to protect them.. The lose of someone can never be
prepared but can be honored and recognized for the importance they have become. Before they
could put the wall up there was a fund

The rapid changes taking place in emerging markets, combined with the fact that existing fixed line
networks are often underdeveloped, offer persuasive reasons to believe that systems will be
developed that can facilitate wealth creation and genuinely transform people s lives in the poorest
parts of the region. Ultimately, the evolution of mobile payments systems has the potential to allow
global organisations to access a far wider market, including people in previously hard to access
locations. The caveat is, of course, that issues of trust, security and affordability also need to be
overcome. This report explores the recent developments in the context of these significant
challenges. Mobile payments are necessitating new forms of interaction between telecoms
companies, financial institutions, software and content providers. As in any supply chain, it is
important to understand the processes and security capabilities of other parties in the relationship.
It is even more important when potentially sensitive or personal information is flowing between
these parties. Ultimately, the adoption of mobile payments will therefore depend on, and be driven
by, consumer confidence. In this respect, all of the participants within each respective business
model needs to share some responsibility for its successful adoption. seung Hwan (sean) choi

Spanning Tree Protocol In the technological field of computers, a spanning tree protocol is a
combination of networks which are used so that they can ensure that there exists a system for the
Ethernet networks that have no loops in their layout. It has one primary goal in such a network,
and it is to prevent all bridge loops and radiation that may be caused about by broadcasting
through the consecutive use of these network protocols. This translates to spanning tree protocols
creating an environment for network designs where they can include redundant links present in
the case that the user may require a backup if the primary route used to access the link fails to
work. The reroute of the links is done with less danger presented by the bridge loops and reducing

1.Economic sanctions placed on Cuba by the US as a result of cold war era problems have
resulted in a halt in Cuban economic growth. This problems included their friendliness with the
soviets, and the missile crisis as a result of this. Other factors that contributed to the hatred
between the two nations, the one having the most effect being the travel and economic embargo
placed on the island nation. This occurred shortly after Fidel Castro s entrance into power,
mainly on his decision to nationalize private US oil companies. The embargo that has been in
place for more than 54 years has not only been widely rejected globally, due to its effect on the
island s economy which has led to a reduction in the quality of life of many working class Cubans
and its effect it has had on the establishment of the Cuban government. This includes shortages of

study indicated that the aspirations of obtaining a higher level academic degree and then
transferring to a four year college or university were considered as the best predictors of academic
success for Chinese international students. Whereas, English proficiency was considered to be a
weak factor and social interaction factors were not too much related to Chinese international
students academic success.
Yuan (2011) examined the experiences of ten Chinese students at one American university. This
study examined the challenges faced by Chinese international students, their social interaction, and
their attitudes to adapting into the American culture and society. The result indicated that Chinese
participants identified spoken English and class discussion as their major challenges while studying
at American higher education institutions. Besides, they stated limited interaction with Americans.
However, most of them highly praised the American educational system and regarded their
experiences in the United States as being worthwhile. It is also worth noting that the Chinese
participants expressed mixed perceptions of American culture and different attitudes to cultural
assimilation.
Zhang (2013) explored the lived experience of Chinese undergraduate students from their
perspective and

Why Did The Vietnam War Start
Let s start from the beginning, the start of the Vietnam War started way before the fighting and war
actually happened. The start of the Vietnam War really started at the end of WWII. Tension grew
between the United States and the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union were a communist government,
and the United States was very firmly against that. The United Stateshad a fear of communism
growing and that sparked the urge to get our foot in the door, and stop it. (Vietnam at War, Bradley)
Northern Vietnam was also a communist government which of course meant they sided with the
Soviet Union, which means we did not agree with North Vietnam. South Vietnam was not a
communist government and they did not agree with the rules and the intentions of North Vietnam.

Balance In The Oresteia
Through the three plays of The Oresteia, we are exposed to many opposing forces of power.
Elements such as darkness, light, fate, patriarchy, and justice are intertwined to make up
Aeschylus tragic tale, however all of these elements are directed by one central force: balance.
The word balance itself suggests a state of equilibrium or a stable environment. Balance is often
looked at as a scale; if one side of the scale is overpowering the other, then it creates a state of
disorder, irregularity, and even chaos. Aeschylus meddles with the scales of balance but, in the end,
reinforces the equipoise of power. I would argue that, not only does The Oresteiainclude balance as
a critical underlying theme and is strategically used in determining the outcome of the play, but
that the role of Athena is vital in creating this balance. In this play, there are many cases in which
the word balance can be substituted for the word justice. The final play, The Eumenides, is
significantly based on the idea of balance. Aeschylus puts it as justice waits and turns the scales
(line 61), meaning that justice is purposeful, and is one of the components that forces the balance
within the play. By analyzing the reference to the tipping of the scales, we can assume a reversal
of fortune and what is fated to happen. With the trial being the main plotline of the last play, it
reveals the scales tipping towards justice and leaves us with a sense of harmony. The two sides of
justice are seen

My Identity And Identity
Sunday mornings my mother in the kitchen singing in Spanish cooking breakfast for everyone
afterward we would head to church, a Latino congregation. My parents would be talking in
Spanish, I would always understand what they were saying when they would talk with me
speaking English or Spanish interchangeably back to them. It never occurred to me that other
kids parents do not speak another language because I was so used to both. As I grew up I was
always called the gringa (white girl) of the family. From neighbors to classmates, co workers,
and people I interacted with in general did not think I was Latina because I have fair skin and
naturally blonde hair but light brown eyes, my brother, and, father have green eyes and blonde
hair too. It never really bothered me until I realized later as I grew up and started to navigate the
world more on my own that I saw it as an issue. Being confronted by people who challenge me on
my own identity has given me another identity in which I must defend and prove that the labels I
put on myself are mine and I do not need to meet your requirements for you to accept that I am
who I say I am. When meeting people they do not assume that we are Latino, let alone that my
father is from MichoacГЎn, Mexico. With the physical features, I assume we did not fit what

Decline In Youth Sports
The decline in youth sports is affecting many people around the world today and it isn t just the
kids themselves, or parents with children, it includes the average person. If the participation in
youth sports continues to decline everyone will be affected in a negative way. As a society we
need to get our kids back into sports so they can receive the benefits and the life lessons that they

Cost is a huge problem when it comes to kids participating in youth sports. According to athlete
intelligence parents in the United States spend an average of $671 per year to cover different
costs for sports. These costs may include the participation fee, uniforms, lessons, or coaching
from a private club. As the kids get older they start participating in traveling leagues which can
also be very costly. Overtime all of those things add up and can become very costly for families
This is just in youth sports only, and the cost has increased and has been on the rise.
Another problem would be under trained coaches or coaches that are not properly taught how to
coach young children in youth sports. Farrey (2013) Only 1 in 5 coaches of youth teams of
children under age 14 say they have been trained in effective motivational technique, and just 1 in

are fathers that have a kid in the sport, so that might be why they are coaching in the first place.
Also they haven t been properly trained in the first place. According to NRPA there are roughly 3.5

training to coach these kids. They are unable to teach the correct fundamentals and developmental

The Episode I Thought Was Most Interesting
The one episode I thought was most interesting was when the class first started and they were
talking about compound words. When Mrs. Detreick went to the front of the class room the
students got silent really fast. She then turned on the smart board and pulled up a worksheet. When
they were going over the worksheet she would have the student come up to the board and their
responsibility was to write what the compoundwordwould be. After they got done with the
worksheet she told the students to take out their iPads and go to socrative. They played a game
that they had to decide whether the word was a compound word or not, this put a little
competition into the learning. After they played a few rounds of that the teacher hand out cards
that had one part of the word and they have to find the other student with the word completing
your word. Once you find your partner you will see a number on the top of your card and you will
go to the spot in the room that matches your number that will be your group.
3. So What
During the first episode in question 2 Mrs. Detreick does a great job of connecting the InTASC
teaching standard #3 Learning environment. The first way she shows this is by putting the
worksheet on the smart board that way everyone can see it. She then has students come up to the
board and solve the problem of connecting the compound words. She saw in her class that they
respond well with repetition and being involved. The second way she demonstrates this is by having

Research Paper On Vincent Van Gogh
Short Essay: Art and Cultural Exchange
Many artists in Europe and America were influenced by the influx of Japanese design and ukiyo
e prints from the 18th and 19th centuries. Vincent Van Gogh was one such artist. While he was in
Paris, he came into contact with many different styles of art, including Japanese woodblock
print art, which became the source for his artistic creativity behind his work, The Courtesan
(after Eisen) (see figure 1). This work is an oil on canvas painting that Van Gogh produced in
1887. The work is a form of Japonisme because Van Gogh based it on multiple Japanese artists
block prints. Van Gogh used a block print by Keisai Eisen as the basis for the main subject of his
work and he used block prints from multiple other Japanese artists as the basis for the border for
the work. Although, he used these prints as inspiration he didn t leave them exactly as they were, in
his rendition he added brighter colors and stronger contrasts to add more dimension, and he used
additional prints to frame out the final work. Vincent Van Goghwas inspired to paint the painting
after seeing a reproduction of a print that was on the May 1886 cover of Paris IllustrГ© that was
by Keisai Eisen. ( Vincent Van Gogh ).

The Horrifying Shower Scene in Alfred Hitchcock s Film,...
In this essay I will be doing a close analysis on the famous shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock s
Psycho, 1960. I will be looking at the mise en scГЁne, performance, cinematography, editing, and
the manipulation of sound. I will also be looking at themes that are explored in the film and what
messages they convey to the audience. I will be using some theories to help analyze this particular
sequence.
At the beginning of the clip we can see the Marion flushing pieces of paper down the toilet in a
close up shot. Diegetic sound of the flushing is used. The close up reveals that the pieces of
paper were a key prop in the film and the audience is left wondering why the Marion has disposed
the paper. This suggests that Hitchcock has used a red herring because the audience may assume
she has done this because the paper may have had evidence that would prove that she is guilty of
something. This also creates an enigma because we suspect that she has a secret hat she is keeping.
Enigmas and red herrings are usually found in thriller films to create mystery and tension.
The Sound before the Marion get s into the shower is very quiet as we only hear non diegetic
music that slowly builds up to frightening slow pace music which creates tension for the audience
as it notifies us that something is about to happen. When the scene moves to Marion being in the
shower the music stops and you can just hear the sound of the shower when it comes on. We can
see that the shower curtains are

Why Is David Important In The Renaissance
In the renaissance there were many famous artists and masterpieces. One of the most famous
works of art is known as the statue of David, sculpted by Michelangelo. The statue of David is one

is one of Michelangelos most well known works of art. Michelangelo was one of the greatest artists

Airbus Boeing
Airbus vs. Boeing
Stuart Taylor Chris Tillmanns November 13, 2002
The airline manufacturing industry consists of only two firms, Airbus in Toulouse, France and the
Chicago based Boeing. Two recent research and development moves at the two firms offer an
insight into the positioning strategy that each is taking in the future market place. It seems the two
firms are accenting two niche markets with a pair of flagship products, neither of which are in
direct competition with each other. This will allow for the firms to stave off price competition in
the short term by differentiating product lines, which is desirable given the recent increase in buyer
power gained by lowcost airlines.

Current Aircraft Market
The airline industry is in a downturn. In 2001, the International Air Transport Association had a net
loss of $17 billion, which is more than the industry has made in its entire history. 3 This has led to a
grim short term outlook for the airline manufacturers, and subsequently Boeing has cut 2002
production in half4 and Airbus by one fourth. 5 This, however, is not necessarily a good measure
of the industry s condition, since both companies have an extensive backlog that can be used to
maintain these new targets. Although the total backlog of 2,783 planes is worth an estimated
$172 million dollars6 it is also somewhat uncertain due to lax cancellation penalties negotiated by
the airlines during the boom years. Furthermore, the rise of low cost airlines does not directly
translate into a larger market for aircraft due to the fact that the success of low end carriers tends to
reduce the demand for aircraft by the large carriers.7 It is important to note however, that this is not
a permanent depression in the market, but a reflection of the cyclical nature of the industry.
Future Airline Industry Outlook
Both Airbus and Boeing, foresee dramatic growth in the airline industry over the next twenty years,
with the firms forecasting average annual growth of revenuepassenger kilometers at 4.2 and 4.9%
respectively. This will be generated by lower ticket prices and

Representation Of African American Films
The medium of film and television have not been effectively coding the many American conflicts
of the past decades. The roles of superheroes, villains, and antiheroes have always been used in
every film and media directly or indirectly, introducing which is which. Since the beginning of
modern film, many movies plots and conflicts have revolved around a protagonist or several
protagonists faced with an opposing force that is disturbing the order of things, usually another
individual bent on malicious intent. A battle between the good and the bad, the heroic and the
villainous. Unfortunately, the conflicts between good and bad have not been effectively introduced
through this medium. Throughout history, the definition of what is good and what is bad has also
changed slightly as a result of the effects of the Sexual Revolution and the Judeo Christian ethic,
and this has indeed been reflected in the more modern movies of today.... Show more content on

become very confusing and has turned audience s attention to subjects that do not matter much. In
addition, films about racism, particularly towards African Americans, serve only as propaganda to
feed SJW rhetoric into the minds of Americans. Furthermore, the lack of films and media coverage
of educational reform has made audiences uninformed about this issue. On the other hand, the
medium of film has succeeded in providing an effective discussion of income inequality in America.

him and he was asked to play for them. He was a violin teacher, composer, and conductor for
most of his life at the music school of Pieta, when he was 25, an orphanage for girls in Venice.
He also wrote for Venetian opera houses. He is best known for his 450 or more concerti grossi

Before I attempt to persuade him, I first wanted to ask him some questions and figure out exactly
why he does not ever attend football games on any level. According to my uncle, he doesn t like
the fact that a football game is an all day event. He mentioned the average cost for a family of
four in 2016 to attend a game was $503. This cost includes what the average family of four
spends on parking, tickets, food and drinks, souvenirs, and programs. Finally, his main reason
for not wanting to attend a football game was that if he was interested in watching a football
game he was much more comfortable staying home and watching it in his basement on his flat
screen television with the added benefit of being able to watch re plays. After reviewing his
answers, I realized that it sounded like his reasons were based off how he visualized an NFL
experience due to his reasons being the cost and because it was an all day event. I assumed that he
was not referring to a college football experience. Based off his responses, I wanted to create
reasons that went against what he said that would make it uncomfortable and hard for him to say
no. As the experience of dissonance is unpleasant, we are motivated to reduce or eliminate it, and
achieve consonance (i.e. agreement) (McLeod 2008). My goal was to make his reasons irrelevant

Summary Of Helen In Sappho s Odyssey And Helen
Faith Butler
CLA
October 3, 2017
Title
Homer is a legendary writer who is foreshadowed by many other writers in his work. While most
agree with and follow in Homers footsteps, there are also those who deliberately see and do things
in a dissimilar way. This can be presented by the use of the character, Helen, in the Odysseyand in
Sappho s Fragment 16. Homer and Sappho use Helen in their stories in conflicting ways to
differentiate epic and lyric poetry while also expressing different ideas and perspectives.
In both the Odyssey and Sappho s Fragment 16, Homer and Sappho speak of and acknowledge
Helens beauty. Though, they do so in different ways. In the Odyssey, Homer compares Helen to
that of a goddess using Artemis as an example. Although homer describes her beauty in a positive
light, he also claims that Helens attractiveness caused the Trojan war and the death and suffering of
many. when all you Achaeans fought at Troy, launching your headlong battles just for my sake,
shameless whore that I was (160). Therefore in the Odyssey, Helen is depicted as an intricate
character. In epic poems, this is a trend that can be seen throughout the reading as the writing style
goes into greater detail. One can also conclude that Homer tends to focus on the negative and
emphasize war.
In fragments 16, Sappho claims that mortals cannot compare to the beauty of Helen. Sappho
remains simple and to the point with her description of Helen. Unlike Homer, Sappho claims that

Premarital Sex Reflection Paper
Before this class I thought about the topics we covered in a broad sense and probably not very
often. After taking this class I was forced to look deeper into each topic, and while I disagree
with some things, I am glad I will be able to hold a conversation about why I disagree. I am born
and raised Catholic so I know what view I am supposed to have on each topic, but I d catch
myself feeling guilty because my views were more often than not slightly different than the
Church s teachings. I needed to remind myself that it is okay I have a different opinion, as long
as I accept the Church s opinion as well. Of the topics we talked about, I found cohabitation as
the most important/interesting and I found contraception as the most controversial. In this
paper I will focus on contraception in premarital sex which can also be happening in cohabiting
relationships, so it in a way all connects. I have been dating my boyfriend Jarod for almost six

college. He was not so subtly trying to ask me what my opinion would be on us living together.
My first thought was no I want to wait until I get married and I know that is what my parents
want as well, but as I thought about it, it really began to make sense why he would ask. It is not
cheap to live on your own, and while I would just continue living at my parents, his parents are

Maternal role is heavily stressed in the play, so as the effects of patriarchyon the lives of women.
Mayu was aimed to find her mother, and the place called home . In one of her lines, she
mentioned, At the place called home, there is Mother (Kishida, 1984). From this line, we can see
that Mayu relates home to mother, they are two inseparable concepts. This setting is in line with
the real expectation from the Japanese society that women should be a good wives, wise mothers
since 1898 (Anderson, 2009). The prime minister at that period, Tojo Hideki, also said the similar
idea that the best duty for women is to stay at home and manage the family nicely so that men can
work on the front lines for the country (Havens, 1975). Japanese society depicts mothers figure is
the centre of a household and they should responsible for raising children as the future citizens.
Such ideal mothers are expected to become the role model for their daughter, and the cycle

The Description Of A New World Called The Freezing World...
Within her fictional prose piece The Description of a New World, Called the Blazing World ,
Margaret Cavendish s intellectually fueled construction of her blazing world reveals the importance
of education and learning in the development of society and understanding of a new ever expanding
world. Her writings and desires of integrating education and learning into the development of
government parallel struggles of the restoration period of England and offer her own solutions to its
recreation.
Upon entering a new and fantastic world filled with creatures never before seen or described the
Empress of the new world exemplifies the cultural attempt to use scientific hypothesis and reason
to better understand the unknown. Introduced to individuals of colors ranging from azure to
deep purple and all between, the Empress seeks to further evaluate this intriguing phenomenon
wondering, whether they were made by bare reflection of light, without the assistance of small
particles , or by the help of well ranged and ordered atoms, or by a continual agitation of little
globules, or by some pressing and reacting motion (Cavendish 1159). Margaret cavendish s
description of the Empress attempt to apply current scientific theories of molecules in evaluating
the reasoning behind the bizarre colorings of the peoples of this new world exemplifies a new
attempt to reach beyond bare visuals. She begins questioning and applying scientific knowledge to
the world in order to better comprehend its workings. The Empress experience parallels the recent
discovery and exploration of new worlds during the time of Cavendish and provides a fictional
example of the way world explorers were attempting to better understand new species and lands
through a scientific method of hypothesis and reasoning.
Continuing throughout the work, Cavendish establishes the importance of education in preparing
individuals for higher roles in society. The Empress erected schools and several societies thoroughly
educating her people and anointing them high value occupations and positions in society, making,
the ape men her chemists, the satyrs her Galenic physicians, the fox men her politicians, the spider
and lice men her mathematicians... Etc

My First Family Reunion
When anyone thinks of a perfect family photo, they imagine a family with fancy clothing, a bright
sunny day, green grass and faces that have been enhanced. When my family takes photos they are
not quite that picture perfect family that s advertise but a family that goes deeper than perfection. I
come from a fairly large familywith five sisters, one brother and that includes my parents four
grandchildren and one son in law. My sisters are in the middle row off to the left side, my
brothers hand is wrapped around my mother. My little sister is the one with the long black braids. I
am on the right side holding my son of five months and my husband Rudy right next to me. In the
front row is my dad with his three grandchildren.
This photo holds a special place in my heart because it was our very first family reunion.
Looking back on this day brings a tear to my eye because time is a big factor and I can tell time
has gone by since that day. I stare at this photo and can t help but feel blessed. We are all alive
and in good health. Knowing that this was the last photo we took as a family makes it so much
more meaningful to me. That day was filled with excitement and laughter. I remember this day
like it was yesterday. The date was August 8th 2015 and this photo was taken at my grandparent s
farm. It was so humid that I took about three showers. I felt sticky and fussy just like a baby.
Although my kids didn t feel the weather because they were too busy enjoying the open land

Arianism In Jehovah s Witnesses
There are countless views of the person of Christ that reject, whether intentionally or not, the full
deity of the Son. One of these views is known as Arianism, which, according to Erickson, states that
The Father alone is uncreated and eternal. The Word is therefore a created being, although the first
and highest of the beings (2015, 243). This view, which is especially prevalent within the belief
system of Jehovah s Witnesses, essentially claims that although JesusChrist shares traits with God
the Father, He is not one with the Father and therefore, not God Himself (Ibid.). To support this
claim, Arians derive the ideas that Jesus is inferior to the Father and from passages such as John

Assume that you are preparing a report on MM207 statistics students at Kaplan University to
present to the Kaplan Board of Trustees. Prepare an appropriate graphical representation for each of
the following variables.
a) The different majors of students taking MM207.
b) The number of hours spent on school work by students in MM207.
9. Using the range rule of thumb estimate the standard deviation for the number of credit hours
students in this sample are taking and the shoe sizes of the females in the class. Then using
StatCrunch compute the actual standard deviation. Compare the results.
a) Does the range rule of thumb overestimate or underestimate the standard deviation for number of
credit hours?
The range rule of thumb over estimates the standard deviation for credit hours. The estimates
deviation is 3.75 while the actual is 2.56
b) Does the range rule of thumb overestimate or underestimate the standard deviation for shoe sizes
of females?
The range rule of thumb overestimates again this time only by a little, with the estimate at 1.75 and
the actual at 1.29.
c) How does the shape of the distribution impact what you conclude?
The shape of both data sets fall within the rule of thumb estimate and that actual standard deviation.
There is a much high range for both and that is because there are several data samples that fall
outside of the standard deviation.

Bertie And Lionel Logue In The King s Speech And A...
The contrast between Bertie and Lionel Logue in The King s Speech and John Nash and Charles
Herman in A Beautiful Mind.
In The King s Speech and A Beautiful Mind the contrast between the characters whom I will be
discussing is evident. The King s Speech and A Beautiful Mind are both highly recommended
films. The director makes use of film techniques such as mise en scene and cinematography as well
as the use of subtle but effective imagery that reflect the emotions that the characters are feeling at a
certain point in the film.
The film techniques are used in such a way so as to enhance the viewer s empathy for the
characters as well as to better portray the emotions that the characters are feeling in the film. Both
films make use of contrast which is the state of being strikingly different from something else in
juxtaposition or close association. The contrast was created in the films to show how uptight,
awkward and introverted the main characters of these films and are by making them have close
relationships with a side character who is outgoing, confident and extraverted.
The King s Speech is my favourite of the two films. The film follows Prince Albert AKA Bertie
as he battles his speech impediment that he had since he was a child of 5 years. He and his wife
Elizabeth seek help from Lionel Logue who is an Australian actor and speech therapist to try and
overcome his stammer. The two are very different in the sense that they come from two very

The Energy Stored On Various Foods Using A Homemade...
The Energy Stored In Various Foods Using a Homemade Calorimeter
Naomi Hernandez
Little Rock Central High The Energy Stored in Various Foods Using a Homemade Calorimeter
The purpose of this experiment is to investigate how the caloric energy in food varies in different
foods and the correlation between high fat foods and calories using a homemade calorimeter. The
hypothesis is that if foods with higher fat content have more energy than nonfat food, then fatty
foods with more caloric energy will have higher measurements on the calorimeter, because fatty
foods have calories than other foods. As the content of fat in food rises the energy stored in that
food will be greater than nonfat foods. A calorie is a unit of energy though it does... Show more

With an excess of calories, an individual could become overweight or obese, because the calories
not used for used for basic functions are converted into fat for later usage. If the individual does
not participate in physical activity, the remaining fat will not be burned off, leading to excess of
fat (Abdallah, et al. n.d.). Too many empty calories, or calories with no nutritional value, increase
the chances of obesity and other weight related issues. These calories derive form added sugar and
solid fats (Weight Management, .n.d.) Solid fats refer to fats that are solid at room temperature
such as: butter, milk fat, beef fat (tallow, suet), chicken fat, cream, pork fat (lard), stick
margarine, shortening, hydrogenated oils, coconut oil, palm and palm kernel oils . Although
some are named oils, it is because they derive from plants, they are considered solid fats because
of the high concentration in saturated and fatty acids(Calories. n.d.). Fats are concentrated
sources of calories , and foods with added sugars or eaten in large portions can account to an excess
in calories and lead to weight gain (How Do I, .n.d.). So foods with greater empty calories that
tend to have solid fats lead excess in fat. For the purpose or this experiment foods that either are or

Introduction
The Australian bottled water industry has been growing rapidly over the past decade. Many
Australians drink bottled water on a regular basis, and on average consumed 21.2 litres per person
(Australian Bureau of Statistics) in 2001. The boom in consumption of bottled water has moved
the product beyond the niche market and into the mainstream as it has become a staple to many
Australians. Many people drink bottled water today simply because they prefer the taste to that of
tap water or perceive it to have more purity. Other reasons behind the explosion in bottled water
consumption are: consumers passion for fitness which guides them to fewer caloric beverages;
increased accessibility of bottled water via convenience stores, ... Show more content on

Social classes show distinct product and brand preferences in buying behaviour. All brands of
bottled water cater for a different social class. Peats Ridge is a cheap brand readily available at
Woolworths or Coles while Perrier is usually found in upmarket restaurants.
2.Social Factors: A consumer s behaviour is influenced by such social factors as reference
groups, family and social roles and statuses. A person s reference group consists of all the groups
that have a direct or indirect influence on the person s attitudes or behaviour (Kotler, 2000,
pp.163). Reference Groups create pressures for conformity that affect actual product and brand
choices. The MiZone and Aqua Blue range of bottled water is aimed and is consumed by people
who do considerable exercise and are concerned about their fitness and well being. Consumers in
this group would notice that their peers consumed MiZone or Aqua Blue and would then purchase
it themselves.
3.Personal Factors: Personal values have been assumed to influence behavioural and consumption
decisions through attitudes (Carman, 1977, pp.403 7), thus creating desires, influencing needs to be
satisfied, and driving consumers to select products that fulfil specific needs (Gutman, 1982, pp.60
72). Bottled water satisfies the most basic of human needs, that of thirst. But it also satisfies a
range of specific needs

Taking a Look at Phonetic Euphemisms
A phonetic euphemism is used to replace profane language or cuss words. One version of
phonetic euphony is using the first letter of a cuss word, and often times adding the word word
after it. For example saying the, F word instead of saying fuck, or the B word instead of bitch. In
the military, it s common to say several completely different words using the first letters of profane
words. For example, instead of saying, What the Fuck, they would say, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot , or
Bravo Sierra instead of, Bull Shit . In television and radio, profanitywill often be covered up by a
bleep noise. Usually, you can use context clues to figure out what the word was anyways but the
bleep is a form a euphemismbecause it covers up the offensive language. Cuss words are also
masked by mispronunciations, such as, darn instead of, damn , or shoot instead of shit . This type
of phonetic euphemism is most commonly used for the word fuck. There are many different ways
the word fuck is mispronounced, including, frick , frack , fudge , and truck . To alter the
pronunciation or spelling of a taboo word to form a euphemism is also known as taboo
deformation, or minced oath .
Euphemisms are often used to describe activities that are gross or uncomfortable. There are
countless euphemisms for pooping and urinating. These include the phrases, using the bathroom ,
and taking a dump . There are also several euphemisms for having sex such as, getting laid ,

  • 2. Should Animals Be Kept In Zoos Essay Zoos are the places where animals are kept. Some people argue that animals shall not be kept in zoos as they deserve freedom. Zoos cannot provide them with enough space, therefore, they cannot run around so as to grow up freely. On the other hand, some people argue that animals should be kept in zoos. Nowadays, forests and mountains have been cut down by people. If we leave animals alone, they might have nowhere to find food and nowhere to live. It is for the sake of the animals themselves that we keep them in the zoos. 2010 05 04 22:57:20| е€†з±»п јљ й» и®¤е€†з±»|е —еЏ· и®ўй … Nowadays, there is an ongoing heated discussion among people on the topic whether wild animals should be kept in zoos, and there is no common consensus among people on it. The larger animals seemed to go quietly about their business but the animal that caught my attention was the adult elephant that seemed to be pacing up and down out of boredom. This is understandable because even though the park has given the elephants massive amounts of green space to themselves, in the wild they are used to hundreds and hundreds of miles that become their domain. The equivalent would be like placing a human under house arrest. The more dangerous animals like lions and tigers are also given their own large enclosures and people can view them from behind a glass screen. Their focus on that day was on keeping out of the sun by lying under shady trees and Izmir zoo is very much backing the stance that if you do not get to see an animal then you should return at a different time. They are not forcing the animals into any ridiculous side shows involving party tricks and silly costumes. Animals aside, the park does give a lot of information to visitors about the animal that they are seeing and two days within a week are dedicated to educational tours for children. This is to describe the traits, natural habitat and eating routines of an animal. It is quite plain to see that the park aims to keep its animals in the best conditions possible however this does not distract from the moral and ethically question of Should animals should be kept in ... • 3. The Importance Of Dreams In James Welch s Fools Crow A dream is a wish your heart makes, when you are fast asleep. This nostalgic melody sung by Disney s Cinderella expresses the importance and meanings that dreams can have. In Native American culture, dreams are used as tools to guide one through life. Many big decisions made by Native Americans are influenced by dreams. It is said that supernatural powers or omens from spirits or gods are to be received via dreams or visions. In receiving them, magical abilities, or the ability to look into the future can be bestowed onto one. In Fools Crow, James Welch, illustrates several characters having visions and dreams. Throughout the book the dreams are seen as visions of the future. Welch uses these messages to reflect upon Native American culture and to foreshadow motives or events that will affect the characters later in the book. Mik api, the medicine man has a dream about a raven. Mik api asked White Man s Dog to prepare the sweatlodge, thus beginning White Man s Dog s apprenticeship to him. Mik api begins telling him about a dream he had the previous night. As I slept, the Raven came down to me from some high place... (52) He explains how the Raven had stumbled upon a four legged creature known has a wolverine. The wolverine had been trapped into one of the Napikwans traps, Raven jumped down to save it, but was unsuccessful. As Mik api explains the dream to White Man s Dog he tells him that he must find the wolverine and save it. In saving the animal, he would adopt the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While reading you learn about three caffeinated and three alcoholic beverages that has shaped the world throughout history. The first one of these drinks is beer in Mesopotamia and Egypt in 10,000 BCE. Then Wine in Greece and Rome starting at around 9,000 BCE. Followed by spirits in the 1300s, taking place in The West Indies, Africa, Europe, and the Colonies. After comes coffeein Mecca, Europe, and Cairo taking place in the sixteenth century. Another example for the theme would be Drinks like beer and tea where at once used as a form of currency. Tea also had a huge impact in American history. The tea act of 1773 put a heavy tax on tea for the American colonist. This act eventually led to The Boston Tea Party of 1773. Acts like tea act upset the colonist and ultimately prompted the outbreak of the Revolutionary War in 1775. Showing how powerful one drink can be. Another reason I picked this theme is because of Coca Cola. Every year around the time of Christmas we see ads for Coca Cola. The one I see the most is the ad with Santa drinking a coke . Today that ad is something we see often and really don t think much of it, but what many of us didn t know is that that ad has been around since 1931. • 7. Analysis Of Domestic Unrest And Jennifer Johnston s... One of the critics who discuss Johnston s work is Laila Khan. In her essay, Domestic Unrest and Jennifer Johnston s Fiction of the Irish Trouble, Khan focuses on how Johnston s novels do not concentrate on the violence happening in the nation, but instead how she uses Irish domestic fictions to explored alternative approaches to friendships and family bonds that could exist when women reject nationalist narratives (2). Khan s essay analyzes these trends in relationship to the mothers in Johnston s The Railway Station Man and Shadows on Our Skin. While women often are representative of Ireland in Irish fictions, Khan notes that Johnston purposely creates mothers that refuses to act as mouthpieces for national rhetoric in the home, choosing instead passivity or alternative kinships as what they see as the only escape (3). An example of this from Shadows on Our Skin is the way the Mrs. Logan has sent her eldest son Brendon off to England in hopes of keeping him safe (3). According to Khan, the purpose of this is to keep him away from his pro Nationalist father, [and] also out of the Irish public sphere (3). In The Railway Station Man, Helen is less interested in protesting political involvement than she is in escaping it entirely (6). It is because of this that Helen is unlike many mother, she does not force her son to owe her anything (9). This analysis differs from the one that will be examined in this paper because, while the mother is an important figure, she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Modern crime prevention roots in architectural design from the 1950s 1970s. As we all know, our current Prime Minster is Liberal and so the government s fiscal policies will be focused more on investing and subsidizing social services. Prime Minister Trudeau has expressed to Canada and other global leaders that he has no intentions of balancing the budget and urges others to do the same. After a single year we have already witnessed the large decline in value of the Canadian dollar. The government should not be expanding their means through fiscal policies that promote such debt. This places a burden on the taxpayers of the country and the economy as a whole. My argument stands from the fact that the government receives its income from the personal income of its residents and corporations. Taxpayers elect a government on the basis that they will represent the needs of the people and an important factor in this election process includes the proposed tax rates of each political government. When a political government sets the tax rate it is recorded in legislation and signifies that those funds should suffice. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shinto is the belief of kami, spirits, deities that exist as things in nature, such as trees or streams, watching over the humans on Earth. To the Japanese, Shinto was not particularly a religion but something that is part of their lives, like another part of the natural world, albeit a part of enormous power (BBC: History 1). So, in a sense, religion actually came into Japan in the 6th century, when Buddhism, founded by Prince Shotoku (571 622), was transmitted to Japan from China (Web Japan 2). After the birth of Buddhism into Japan, Shinto faiths and traditions took on Buddhist elements, and later, Confucian ones (BBC: History 1). The Emperor Shomu (701 756) adopted Buddhism as the official state religion and build a huge statute of Buddha to commemorate this occasion. Even still, the coexistence of Buddhism and Shinto continued (Web Japan 2). Since Buddhism and Shinto were the main beliefs in Japan, during the time in the 16th century, religious tensions with Christianity grew when Christian missionaries tried to convert many of the Japanese (BBC: History 2). Due to such actions of forced conversions, Christianity was seen as a threat in Japan and in which made Buddhism and Shinto the dominant religions in the 17th century partly because an anti Christian measure forced every Japanese person to register at a Buddhist temple and to pay for the privilege of being a Buddhist (BBC: History ... • 14. The Causes Of The Cultural Revolution Of China Revolution: the deconstruction phase in the circle of societal reconstruction. In most cases, the society rebuilds itself, improves, takes mistakes from the past, and makes sure to establish itself as something new, distancing itself from its past faults. However, that is not always the case. The cultural revolutionof China, lasting from 1966 1976, was a revolution unlike many others; it resulted in the destruction of traditional Chinese culture, as well as the reshaping of the Chinese political mentality. Mao Zedong, the chairman of the Communist Party of China, was the chief instigator of the revolution. Much of his motivations stemmed from his poor relationships with other party leaders. This tension with the other members was caused by the Great Leap Forward, an attempt by Mao to increase agricultural and industrial production in China within a very short span of time. This resulted in the overworking of farmers, a famine with an estimated 40 million deaths, and a disgrace for Mao (Ramzy). Even his intended successor, Liu Shaoqi, who was groomed to perfection by Mao himself, turned his back on him after the disastrous attempt at reforming the agricultural industry. However, due to Mao s well placed use of propaganda, he managed to climb back to power, establish a loyal base, and spread his ideology across China. He believed the Communist Party to be corrupt and need to be cleansed of those poisoned by intellectualism. Liu Shaoqi, the newly elected president of China, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Persuasive Essay On The Vietnam War Memorial We look at our past to see how far we have gotten. In the 1980 s there were events that impacted our future forever. On November 13, the Vietnam War Memorial opened. Soldiers gave their lives to protect people they didn t even know, and yet some don t see what they gave up.Also in 1983 Sally Ride became the first woman to fly in space. Now, because these events happened we see that woman are just as powerful as men and they can accomplish anything. That the wall has come with a great price and we should pay attention to it. We can learn from our past that no matter where we are we can accomplish any goal we have for ourselves or others, we should never give up no matter the cost it comes with, so we can move forward. The goal was to win the war and to protect the United States, and it was the accomplished with the help of the soldiers. Which cost some lives and to thank those people they opened the Vietnam War memorial. It took a lot of effort and time to make this possible. The wall has a value that we give to the people that served our country. The ones that died and the ones who marched. It tells the truth, gives names and goes on and on. A Smithsonian Institution director called it a community of feelings, almost a sacred precinct, and a veteran declared that it s the parade we never got. The Wall drew together both those who fought and those who marched against the war and served to promote national healing a decade after the divisive conflict s end. Veterans and families of the dead walked the black reflective wall, seeking the names of their loved ones killed in the conflict. We wouldn t have won the war if it wasn t for the soldiers everyone who served our country and gave there life for us. They need a symbol that recognized them for what they did. There was also a lot of money raised so this could happen. People take time to admire the names that are written on there with honor. They didn t just give up their lives but also made their family suffer and gave them up for everyone s protection and also to protect them.. The lose of someone can never be prepared but can be honored and recognized for the importance they have become. Before they could put the wall up there was a fund ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The rapid changes taking place in emerging markets, combined with the fact that existing fixed line networks are often underdeveloped, offer persuasive reasons to believe that systems will be developed that can facilitate wealth creation and genuinely transform people s lives in the poorest parts of the region. The caveat is, of course, that issues of trust, security and affordability also need to be overcome. This report explores the recent developments in the context of these significant challenges. Mobile payments are necessitating new forms of interaction between telecoms companies, financial institutions, software and content providers. As in any supply chain, it is important to understand the processes and security capabilities of other parties in the relationship. It is even more important when potentially sensitive or personal information is flowing between these parties. Ultimately, the adoption of mobile payments will therefore depend on, and be driven by, consumer confidence. Btec Level 3 Unit 9 P2 Spanning Tree Protocol In the technological field of computers, a spanning tree protocol is a combination of networks which are used so that they can ensure that there exists a system for the Ethernet networks that have no loops in their layout. It has one primary goal in such a network, and it is to prevent all bridge loops and radiation that may be caused about by broadcasting through the consecutive use of these network protocols. This translates to spanning tree protocols creating an environment for network designs where they can include redundant links present in the case that the user may require a backup if the primary route used to access the link fails to work. The reroute of the links is done with less danger presented by the bridge loops and reducing the need for enabling and disabling these backup links. According to... • 24. Balance In The Oresteia Through the three plays of The Oresteia, we are exposed to many opposing forces of power. Elements such as darkness, light, fate, patriarchy, and justice are intertwined to make up Aeschylus tragic tale, however all of these elements are directed by one central force: balance. The word balance itself suggests a state of equilibrium or a stable environment. Balance is often looked at as a scale; if one side of the scale is overpowering the other, then it creates a state of disorder, irregularity, and even chaos. Aeschylus meddles with the scales of balance but, in the end, reinforces the equipoise of power. I would argue that, not only does The Oresteiainclude balance as a critical underlying theme and is strategically used in determining the outcome of the play, but that the role of Athena is vital in creating this balance. In this play, there are many cases in which the word balance can be substituted for the word justice. The final play, The Eumenides, is significantly based on the idea of balance. Aeschylus puts it as justice waits and turns the scales (line 61), meaning that justice is purposeful, and is one of the components that forces the balance within the play. By analyzing the reference to the tipping of the scales, we can assume a reversal of fortune and what is fated to happen. With the trial being the main plotline of the last play, it reveals the scales tipping towards justice and leaves us with a sense of harmony. The two sides of justice are seen ... When they were going over the worksheet she would have the student come up to the board and their responsibility was to write what the compoundwordwould be. After they got done with the worksheet she told the students to take out their iPads and go to socrative. They played a game that they had to decide whether the word was a compound word or not, this put a little competition into the learning. • 29. Research Paper On Vincent Van Gogh Short Essay: Art and Cultural Exchange Many artists in Europe and America were influenced by the influx of Japanese design and ukiyo e prints from the 18th and 19th centuries. Vincent Van Gogh was one such artist. While he was in Paris, he came into contact with many different styles of art, including Japanese woodblock print art, which became the source for his artistic creativity behind his work, The Courtesan (after Eisen) (see figure 1). This work is an oil on canvas painting that Van Gogh produced in 1887. The work is a form of Japonisme because Van Gogh based it on multiple Japanese artists block prints. Van Gogh used a block print by Keisai Eisen as the basis for the main subject of his work and he used block prints from multiple other Japanese artists as the basis for the border for the work. Although, he used these prints as inspiration he didn t leave them exactly as they were, in his rendition he added brighter colors and stronger contrasts to add more dimension, and he used additional prints to frame out the final work. Vincent Van Goghwas inspired to paint the painting after seeing a reproduction of a print that was on the May 1886 cover of Paris IllustrГ© that was by Keisai Eisen. ( Vincent Van Gogh ). Fig. 1. • 30. The Horrifying Shower Scene in Alfred Hitchcock s Film,... In this essay I will be doing a close analysis on the famous shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho, 1960. I will be looking at the mise en scГЁne, performance, cinematography, editing, and the manipulation of sound. I will also be looking at themes that are explored in the film and what messages they convey to the audience. I will be using some theories to help analyze this particular sequence. At the beginning of the clip we can see the Marion flushing pieces of paper down the toilet in a close up shot. Diegetic sound of the flushing is used. The close up reveals that the pieces of paper were a key prop in the film and the audience is left wondering why the Marion has disposed the paper. This suggests that Hitchcock has used a red herring because the audience may assume she has done this because the paper may have had evidence that would prove that she is guilty of something. This also creates an enigma because we suspect that she has a secret hat she is keeping. Enigmas and red herrings are usually found in thriller films to create mystery and tension. The Sound before the Marion get s into the shower is very quiet as we only hear non diegetic music that slowly builds up to frightening slow pace music which creates tension for the audience as it notifies us that something is about to happen. When the scene moves to Marion being in the shower the music stops and you can just hear the sound of the shower when it comes on. We can see that the shower curtains are ... This cost includes what the average family of four spends on parking, tickets, food and drinks, souvenirs, and programs. This can be presented by the use of the character, Helen, in the Odysseyand in Sappho s Fragment 16. Homer and Sappho use Helen in their stories in conflicting ways to differentiate epic and lyric poetry while also expressing different ideas and perspectives. In both the Odyssey and Sappho s Fragment 16, Homer and Sappho speak of and acknowledge Helens beauty. Though, they do so in different ways. In the Odyssey, Homer compares Helen to that of a goddess using Artemis as an example. Although homer describes her beauty in a positive light, he also claims that Helens attractiveness caused the Trojan war and the death and suffering of many. when all you Achaeans fought at Troy, launching your headlong battles just for my sake, shameless whore that I was (160). Therefore in the Odyssey, Helen is depicted as an intricate character. In epic poems, this is a trend that can be seen throughout the reading as the writing style goes into greater detail. One can also conclude that Homer tends to focus on the negative and emphasize war. In fragments 16, Sappho claims that mortals cannot compare to the beauty of Helen. Sappho remains simple and to the point with her description of Helen. Unlike Homer, Sappho claims that the cause of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Premarital Sex Reflection Paper Before this class I thought about the topics we covered in a broad sense and probably not very often. After taking this class I was forced to look deeper into each topic, and while I disagree with some things, I am glad I will be able to hold a conversation about why I disagree. I am born and raised Catholic so I know what view I am supposed to have on each topic, but I d catch myself feeling guilty because my views were more often than not slightly different than the Church s teachings. I needed to remind myself that it is okay I have a different opinion, as long as I accept the Church s opinion as well. Of the topics we talked about, I found cohabitation as the most important/interesting and I found contraception as the most controversial. In this paper I will focus on contraception in premarital sex which can also be happening in cohabiting relationships, so it in a way all connects. I have been dating my boyfriend Jarod for almost six and a half years now and he recently asked me where I was going to live after I was done with college. He was not so subtly trying to ask me what my opinion would be on us living together. My first thought was no I want to wait until I get married and I know that is what my parents want as well, but as I thought about it, it really began to make sense why he would ask. It is not cheap to live on your own, and while I would just continue living at my parents, his parents are ready for him to move out. I told him maybe if we were engaged ... The vital scene closes with Regan perceiving that Lear isn t just weak by virtue of development, however that he has never really known himself or his daughters. • 44. The Description Of A New World Called The Freezing World... Within her fictional prose piece The Description of a New World, Called the Blazing World , Margaret Cavendish s intellectually fueled construction of her blazing world reveals the importance of education and learning in the development of society and understanding of a new ever expanding world. Her writings and desires of integrating education and learning into the development of government parallel struggles of the restoration period of England and offer her own solutions to its recreation. Upon entering a new and fantastic world filled with creatures never before seen or described the Empress of the new world exemplifies the cultural attempt to use scientific hypothesis and reason to better understand the unknown. Introduced to individuals of colors ranging from azure to deep purple and all between, the Empress seeks to further evaluate this intriguing phenomenon wondering, whether they were made by bare reflection of light, without the assistance of small particles , or by the help of well ranged and ordered atoms, or by a continual agitation of little globules, or by some pressing and reacting motion (Cavendish 1159). Margaret cavendish s description of the Empress attempt to apply current scientific theories of molecules in evaluating the reasoning behind the bizarre colorings of the peoples of this new world exemplifies a new attempt to reach beyond bare visuals. She begins questioning and applying scientific knowledge to the world in order to better comprehend its workings. The Empress experience parallels the recent discovery and exploration of new worlds during the time of Cavendish and provides a fictional example of the way world explorers were attempting to better understand new species and lands through a scientific method of hypothesis and reasoning. Continuing throughout the work, Cavendish establishes the importance of education in preparing individuals for higher roles in society. The Empress erected schools and several societies thoroughly educating her people and anointing them high value occupations and positions in society, making, the ape men her chemists, the satyrs her Galenic physicians, the fox men her politicians, the spider and lice men her mathematicians... • 45. My First Family Reunion When anyone thinks of a perfect family photo, they imagine a family with fancy clothing, a bright sunny day, green grass and faces that have been enhanced. When my family takes photos they are not quite that picture perfect family that s advertise but a family that goes deeper than perfection. I come from a fairly large familywith five sisters, one brother and that includes my parents four grandchildren and one son in law. My sisters are in the middle row off to the left side, my brothers hand is wrapped around my mother. My little sister is the one with the long black braids. I am on the right side holding my son of five months and my husband Rudy right next to me. In the front row is my dad with his three grandchildren. This photo holds a special place in my heart because it was our very first family reunion. Looking back on this day brings a tear to my eye because time is a big factor and I can tell time has gone by since that day. I stare at this photo and can t help but feel blessed. We are all alive and in good health. Knowing that this was the last photo we took as a family makes it so much more meaningful to me. That day was filled with excitement and laughter. I remember this day like it was yesterday. The date was August 8th 2015 and this photo was taken at my grandparent s farm. It was so humid that I took about three showers. • 46. Arianism In Jehovah s Witnesses There are countless views of the person of Christ that reject, whether intentionally or not, the full deity of the Son. One of these views is known as Arianism, which, according to Erickson, states that The Father alone is uncreated and eternal. The Word is therefore a created being, although the first and highest of the beings (2015, 243). This view, which is especially prevalent within the belief system of Jehovah s Witnesses, essentially claims that although JesusChrist shares traits with God the Father, He is not one with the Father and therefore, not God Himself (Ibid.). To support this claim, Arians derive the ideas that Jesus is inferior to the Father and from passages such as John 14:28, where Jesus says, The Father is Greater than ... Then using StatCrunch compute the actual standard deviation. Compare the results. a) Does the range rule of thumb overestimate or underestimate the standard deviation for number of credit hours? The range rule of thumb over estimates the standard deviation for credit hours. The estimates deviation is 3.75 while the actual is 2.56 b) Does the range rule of thumb overestimate or underestimate the standard deviation for shoe sizes of females? The range rule of thumb overestimates again this time only by a little, with the estimate at 1.75 and the actual at 1.29. c) How does the shape of the distribution impact what you conclude? • 48. Bertie And Lionel Logue In The King s Speech And A... The contrast between Bertie and Lionel Logue in The King s Speech and John Nash and Charles Herman in A Beautiful Mind. In The King s Speech and A Beautiful Mind the contrast between the characters whom I will be discussing is evident. The King s Speech and A Beautiful Mind are both highly recommended films. The director makes use of film techniques such as mise en scene and cinematography as well as the use of subtle but effective imagery that reflect the emotions that the characters are feeling at a certain point in the film. The film techniques are used in such a way so as to enhance the viewer s empathy for the characters as well as to better portray the emotions that the characters are feeling in the film. Both films make use of contrast which is the state of being strikingly different from something else in juxtaposition or close association. The contrast was created in the films to show how uptight, awkward and introverted the main characters of these films and are by making them have close relationships with a side character who is outgoing, confident and extraverted. The King s Speech is my favourite of the two films. The film follows Prince Albert AKA Bertie as he battles his speech impediment that he had since he was a child of 5 years. He and his wife Elizabeth seek help from Lionel Logue who is an Australian actor and speech therapist to try and overcome his stammer. The two are very different in the sense that they come from two very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. The Energy Stored On Various Foods Using A Homemade... The Energy Stored In Various Foods Using a Homemade Calorimeter Naomi Hernandez Little Rock Central High The Energy Stored in Various Foods Using a Homemade Calorimeter The purpose of this experiment is to investigate how the caloric energy in food varies in different foods and the correlation between high fat foods and calories using a homemade calorimeter. The hypothesis is that if foods with higher fat content have more energy than nonfat food, then fatty foods with more caloric energy will have higher measurements on the calorimeter, because fatty foods have calories than other foods. As the content of fat in food rises the energy stored in that food will be greater than nonfat foods. A calorie is a unit of energy though it does... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With an excess of calories, an individual could become overweight or obese, because the calories not used for used for basic functions are converted into fat for later usage. If the individual does not participate in physical activity, the remaining fat will not be burned off, leading to excess of fat (Abdallah, et al. n.d.). Too many empty calories, or calories with no nutritional value, increase the chances of obesity and other weight related issues. These calories derive form added sugar and solid fats (Weight Management, .n.d.) Solid fats refer to fats that are solid at room temperature such as: butter, milk fat, beef fat (tallow, suet), chicken fat, cream, pork fat (lard), stick margarine, shortening, hydrogenated oils, coconut oil, palm and palm kernel oils . Although some are named oils, it is because they derive from plants, they are considered solid fats because of the high concentration in saturated and fatty acids(Calories. n.d.). Fats are concentrated sources of calories , and foods with added sugars or eaten in large portions can account to an excess in calories and lead to weight gain (How Do I, .n.d.). So foods with greater empty calories that tend to have solid fats lead excess in fat. For the purpose or this experiment foods that either are or have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many Australians drink bottled water on a regular basis, and on average consumed 21.2 litres per person (Australian Bureau of Statistics) in 2001. The boom in consumption of bottled water has moved the product beyond the niche market and into the mainstream as it has become a staple to many Australians. Many people drink bottled water today simply because they prefer the taste to that of tap water or perceive it to have more purity. Other reasons behind the explosion in bottled water consumption are: consumers passion for fitness which guides them to fewer caloric beverages; increased accessibility of bottled water via convenience stores, ... A person s reference group consists of all the groups that have a direct or indirect influence on the person s attitudes or behaviour (Kotler, 2000, pp.163). Reference Groups create pressures for conformity that affect actual product and brand choices. The MiZone and Aqua Blue range of bottled water is aimed and is consumed by people who do considerable exercise and are concerned about their fitness and well being. Consumers in this group would notice that their peers consumed MiZone or Aqua Blue and would then purchase it themselves. 3.Personal Factors: Personal values have been assumed to influence behavioural and consumption decisions through attitudes (Carman, 1977, pp.403 7), thus creating desires, influencing needs to be satisfied, and driving consumers to select products that fulfil specific needs (Gutman, 1982, pp.60 72). • 52. Taking a Look at Phonetic Euphemisms A phonetic euphemism is used to replace profane language or cuss words. One version of phonetic euphony is using the first letter of a cuss word, and often times adding the word word after it. For example saying the, F word instead of saying fuck, or the B word instead of bitch. In the military, it s common to say several completely different words using the first letters of profane words. For example, instead of saying, What the Fuck, they would say, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot , or Bravo Sierra instead of, Bull Shit . In television and radio, profanitywill often be covered up by a bleep noise. Usually, you can use context clues to figure out what the word was anyways but the bleep is a form a euphemismbecause it covers up the offensive language. Cuss words are also masked by mispronunciations, such as, darn instead of, damn , or shoot instead of shit . This type of phonetic euphemism is most commonly used for the word fuck. There are many different ways the word fuck is mispronounced, including, frick , frack , fudge , and truck . To alter the pronunciation or spelling of a taboo word to form a euphemism is also known as taboo deformation, or minced oath .
