Brandon Parker was tasked with creating a flyer for the music venue Fibbers using InDesign without images. He started by outlining the necessary information in separate text boxes to plan the layout. Brandon experimented with different fonts for the band names and varied the layout style for the headline band. He sized each text section appropriately and placed key details in the center with less important information on the edges or bottom. Brandon added a black rectangle behind the white text to make it more visually appealing while keeping sufficient spacing between elements to avoid clutter.

For task 5 we were asked to create a flyer for the music venue ‘Fibbers’ using
InDesign to the best of our abilities and without the use of images that we had
to create a poster that would attract but give the readers the knowledge and
information needed for the up coming event that would be taking place. We
were shown examples of the wrong sort showing us what not to do as the
reader should be able to just pick out the information needed so instead using
the bare minimum information.
To make my design I started by writing each big of the needed information into
separate text boxes in order to know what I had to use and work with, I then
had a slight idea in order where I wanted to place certain items and then place
the rest in allegeable areas that would keep It look professional. After doing so
I then looked at fonts that I felt applicable to the names of the bands and even
varying the layout style for the key band that involved. I then had a look at the
sizing of each of the different parts of text to show off the key features and the
less needed information either put towards the edge or bottom of each page
and then having the key information centred. I stated with the page black but
looked to bland just full of black text so inserted a rectangle box to cover the
full page and then change the background colour to black and then change
each of the parts of text to white to then be left with my finale piece. With my
finale piece I personally don’t like anything to look cluttered and so I leave
space between each part to make it look clean and as professional as possible.
