Film Techniques In Pride And Prejudice
Originally published in 1813, Pride and Prejudice can be recognized as Jane Austen s most popular
novel in the romance genre. Through the years, the book has been adapted into many films and
television series. The 2005 film adaptation directed by Joe Wright brought to life this Georgian Era
romance in its own abridged style. Makes you believe in true love, happily ever after and all the other
stuff a romantic comedy promises but so seldom delivers. Satisfyingly rich. The sumptuous new
screen adaptation has so much to recommend it. (THE NEW YORK TIMES).
Austen portrays a story that focuses on the Bennet family, particularly Elizabeth and her bright,
bubbling romance with the wealthy, highly esteemed Fitzwilliam Darcy. It also entails the ... Show

Creating New Services in the Ecotourism Industry
New Service Business Idea
Creating New Services in the Eco Tourism Industry
Executive Summary
There are many possibilities for a new service oriented business. However, one trend that has been
identified is an increased interest in sustainability and people who are becoming more aware of
environmental and social issues. Consumers are increasingly considering factors involving
sustainability into their purchasing decisions. Therefore, it seems reasonable to expect that the niche
referred to as ecotourism will represent one service oriented model that will expand indefinitely. This
growing demographics of consumers that consider environmental and social issues will be demand
innovative and unique opportunities for leisure that are consistent with their perspective. Marketing to
this growing market segment will be a complex task that will require that service providers act
ethically on all fronts. The development of the service strategy must consider all aspects of both social
and environmental impacts of the business and the services they provide. Furthermore, the promotion
of the services must also be consistent with the CSR practices. This analysis will consider industry
environment that would be relevant to a new ecotourism business in the near future.
Introduction
The idea for this service model has been designed around the assumption that corporate social
responsibility (CSR) will be an increasingly salient factor for consumption of various services in the

A Deeper Look Into Indiana s Law
A Deeper Look into Indiana s Law Many thoughts should run through one s mind as they skim
through The Editorial Board of Terre Haute Tribune Star s It s time to expand Indiana s civil rights law
editorial piece. This editorial presents many flaws that can be spotted with one read through. The
opinion piece is written with good intentions; however, The Board commits quite a few errors in the
delivery. Inconsistencies and appeals to an already sympathetic audience make it difficult for this
editorial to convince any skeptics to switch sides on the issues that are raised. While The Board was
obviously passionate about this writing, the editorial is not effective due to insufficient evidence and
only one viewpoint among other oversights. This piece tries to raise concerns about Indiana s
wellbeing and shortcomings that all relate back to one law, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act
(RFRA), which gives businesses the right to exercise their religious beliefs when running their
operations. Unsupported evidence is one of the major setbacks in this mission of The Board. It begins
when The Board said, But RFRA backfired (par. 4) ( It s time to expand Indiana s civil rights law ).
There is no solid evidence of this assertion throughout the remainder of the editorial with only one
weak sentence to follow that statement which says, Despite attempts to fix it, Indiana continues to pay
for it through lost economic investment and a tarnished public image ( It s time to expand

Cycle For English Reflection
Every cycle for English, we have to write two different reflections relating to the topics we discuss in
class. The reflections have to be on two different days, but they can be on any two days we want. I
think the reason behind having us write the reflections about two different days makes us reflect on
the cycle as a whole, rather than a singular, individual day. Also, having us write reflections about two
different days could prevent procrastination, and therefore produces better work. I think the reason
behind Doc Mitsuda letting us choose which days we write the reflection on lies with time
management and what happens in class on different days. Some people have different activities on
different days, so it could be more convenient for

Symbolism In Harry Potter And The Sorcerer s Stone
Symbolism throughout J.K Rowling s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone
Many have read novels, and it take a select few to truly comprehend what the author intends. Only a
few understand the underlying meaning of the author using specific skills such as symbolism. In Harry
Potter and The Sorcerer s Stone there are many ways symbolism is used, even the smallest things are
noticed. Rowling makes you really analyze the text to dig out your own interpretation. J.K. Rowling
uses brilliant literary techniques to create symbolism in Harry Potter and The Sorcerer s Stone.
Rowling used 3 crucial pieces in the novel for the reader to read in between the lines to grasp the
entire concept. She incorporates Harry s Scar, Quidditch, and The Mirror of Erased to create an

A faith in species equality
At the ripe age of fourteen, my life consisted of friends, school, family and the latest social media
networking sites. Lacking commitment and ideals, I went with the flow and considered myself a
normal teen. I liked shopping and adored cute animals, the typical generic qualities of a freshman girl
entering high school. One night while I ritually logged onto my Facebook checking my notifications, I
received a message from one of the Facebook group pages I had recently joined named cute puppies. I
clicked the message describing a link to an animal rights video. I considered the message, thinking to
myself, I care about animal rights, I love puppies and real fur is not cool, so out of pure curiosity and

At one point in time God mandated man and animal to eat solely from the earth. Perhaps in one of the
western world s oldest and most influential and powerful texts, there was reasoning for the implied
notion of equality. He creates man and woman at a synchronized point in time, on the same day he
creates all other earthly creatures again at the same time. He gives the same instructions and blessings
to animals as he does to man and woman he says, God blessed them saying, be fruitful and multiply
(Genesis, 1:22, 28). He also instructs both man and animal that the earth is a food source for all. The
text implies that animal and human are created and instructed in an analogous fashion, as equal
inhabitants of the earth, similar to the ideal against speciesism, that all of God s creatures or earth
inhabitants desire the equal right to life.
The same texts that seems to imply the guidelines of animal equality, is the main source of the Judeo
Christian faith. In my lifetime, I have never witnessed someone sitting down at a dinner table and
being interrogated and judged as to why they practice their Christian

The Aca Requirements For Insurers
The ACA requirements for insurers to cover mammogram
Policy background Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the US. About
40,000 women die from breast cancer each year, making it the second leading cause of cancer death
among women (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, n.d.). The Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (2010) requires insurers to provide coverage for and shall not impose any cost
sharing requirements for preventive services which are in the current recommendation of the United
States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF). Nevertheless, the ACA makes an exception for
breast cancer screening by stating that the USPSTF s recommendation regarding mammogram shall be
considered the most current other than those issued in or around November 2009 . By using this
legislative tool, the federal government mandates health insurers to provide coverage for annual or
biennial mammograms in women aged 40 and older (US Preventive Services Task Force, 2013).
While the ACA regulates the age limit, frequency, and cost sharing rule of mammogram at federal
level, preceding state policies regarding reimbursement for breast cancer screening dates back to the
1980s. Before the implementation of the ACA, the District of Columbia and all states except Utah
required health insurance to cover mammogram. Laws vary slightly from state to state, but most of
them mandate coverage for biennial mammograms for women aged 40 to 49 and annual

Joanne Duff DT545 Vis Com 1st Year
Non linear narrative structures have deeply influenced how subjects are presented in visual culture.
The first movie I looked at was Irréversible, a French movie written, directed and produced by Gasper
Noé. Noé employs a non linear narrative to force the audience to think about the actions taken by
those seeking vengeance before the reasons behind these actions are known. The movie is told in
reverse order, beginning with the main character murdering the person he believed brutally attacked
his girlfriend. The intention of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Noé places these scenes in the first half of the movie, to give us a different perspective on the
characters and their lives. The film ends with scenes depicting Marcus and Alex happy together, which
the viewer must watch while knowing exactly how things will end for them. We also learn that the
man Marcus and Pierre murdered in the gay club wasn t the man they were looking for, we realise that
Le Tenia was standing beside this man, and stood transfixed as he watch them viciously beat the man
they believed to be him. Alex is attacked by Le Tenia
The attack in the club and the rape scene are so cruel and graphic that they are rendered almost
unwatchable, which is how Noé intended them to be. The violence is unglamorised and gritty; the rape
scene is completely non sexual and uncomfortably long. The non linear narrative of Irréversible is
what makes the movie interesting, if the movie story was told in a linear way it wouldn t create the
same interest in the lives of the characters. We wouldn t feel the same about happy characters whose
lives are ruined as we would about something terrible happening to the characters and then to watch
them living happily oblivious to the events that will ruin their lives. He presents us the events in an
order which makes us think about the nature of these events in a different way.

Analyzing 50 s And 60s American Society Through Music
Analyzing 50 s and 60s American society through music
The two songs that I am going to analyze Is Nina Simone To Be Young, Gifted and Black, and Gil
Scott Heron Whitey on the Moon . I will view both of these songs in terms of there contributions to
the counter hegemonic force fighting against the dominant white supremacist ideology that was
prevalent during the 50 s and 60 s.
To give some quick context about Nina Simone, she was a genuine musical artist who routinely
recorded music that ranged across tunes from all genres. The greatest of these was To Be Young,
Gifted and Black, which Simone composed with her new protégé Weldon Irvine, a youthful jazz artist
and arranger of musicals, whose frightful verses paid tribute to the late civil rights activist Lorraine
Hansberry, who fought bravely for the rights of all Americans before her unfourtanate death. Nina
Simone had noticed that the moral of black Americans was destroyed by the way that the dominant
ideology of white supremacy which had successfully sold the idea that all races that were not White
were inferior, low class citizens who should accept there roles and deal with it. She acted as a counter
hegemonic force that challenged the way blacks were thought to view themselves for what they really
are, valuable, talented, and gifted human beings just like the Anglos were. Gil Scott Heron sang the
lyric Whitey on the Moon in 1970 reacting to Neil Armstrong s outing to the moon. In the ballad,

Anthony Storr s A Very Short Introduction Essay
Anthony Storrs A Very Short Introduction is a book written about none other than Sigmund Freud.
Born into the Jewish religion of which he had no interest in taking part of, Freud was an exceptional
man who was very advanced, aware of his surroundings and stubborn.
This man was a psychologist, doctor of medical and the Albert Einstein of psychoanalysis if I should
say. Freud had a lot of theory s which everyone along with myself didn t quite agree with them all.
Born on the 6th day of may in 1856, a man by the name of Sigmund Freud was not only smart; unique

During the years of 1885 1886 Freud s train of thought changed; he realized that in order for him to
understand hysteria, he would have to study psychology and not neurology. He believed that the main
characteristic of the neurotic person was a lack of normal sex, that s ironic for him to say because not
one time threw out this book did I hear him speak on his own sex life, which would lead me to think
he didn t have children if he hadn t spoken of them.
Freud beliefs of young men between the age of four five in the phallic stage being sexually interested
in their mother and aggression towards the father is by far bizarre and disturbing to me. It seems that
everything that had to do with neurology in somewhat way lead back to some form of sex or sexuality.
In 1892 Freud stopped doing hypnotist practices and changed to free association in order to increase
his understanding of neurosis theory.
This man believed every symbol in ones dream had to do with something of sex, umbrellas were the
symbols of the penis, purse s were the symbols of the vagina. Truly don t understand how he came to
that consumption but never the less he was unique in his own way of thought. In one instance Freud
became upset when he realized that his patents were emotionally attached to him during their sessions,
his first though was that it was an erotic attachment. Even though Freud

expressed student need is that for very clearly and explicitly articulated course learning objectives.
That is, online pedagogy seems more associated with cyber distance than with virtual community, and
students quickly become motivated to seek to overcome cyber distance through increased course
structure, reducing learning autonomy. Online education is part of a cost reduction effort, requiring
human resources to be stretched to cover more credit hours, faculty resignation to the training

The Protestant Reformation s Influence On The Religious World
It was a chilly morning on the 31st of October, 1517 in the German town of Wittenberg. A priest walks
with papers in hand to the church and, stepping up to the wooden door, nails the papers to the front of
the church, posted for the town to see. Martin Luther, not knowing what he had just started, walked
away from the church beginning what has come to be known as the Protestant Reformation. This
Reformation is often viewed as a religious movement that eventually came to affect the political and
social spheres as well; Martin Luther along with other Protestants had started a revolution. It is clear
to see that the Reformation affected the religious world, is very much a critique and ultimately a

Young Adults Living at Home
People have grown up with the idea that you need to move out as soon as you graduate high school.
That is not always the case though, especially of the generation of our day. Whether it s because our
generation is having a longer transition between adolescence to adult hood, or they re having difficulty
finding a job, or maybe they re just not used to the idea of living without mom and dad, young adults
should be allowed to live with or near relatives until they are emotionally, mentally, and financially.

There are many reasons why one would find it easier living with our parents, most of us find that
living at home is where we feel most safe and secure. Men, on the other hand, like living with
relatives better because they have no responsibilities. Mom will cook, clean, and maintain the house
for you. At home you re not going to have to do chores, or probably not as many as you would have to
do if you were living on your own. Although parents should help their children through this rough
transition from adolescence to adulthood, they should not give them the responsibility free life. Yes, it
might be best for some young adults to live at home with parents until they are ready, but they also
need to start taking the initiative and find ways to achieve their goals on their own. Some parents need
to redefine what it really means to help your children. If you are just helping to make yourself better,
you re probably not doing what is best for your child. Parents should be showing their kids how the
real world works. They need to be growing up and maturing into successful adults, not growing back
into childhood roles. Young adults should be living independent lives, making their own decisions,
and achieving their own goals. Whether it s because our generation is having a longer transition
between adolescence to adulthood, or they re having difficulty finding a job, or maybe they re just not

The Nightmare of Prohibition Essay
On midnight of January 16, 1920, American went dry. One of the personal habits and everyday
practices of most Americans suddenly diminished. The Eighteenth Amendment was passed, and all
importing, exporting, transporting, selling, and manufacturing of intoxicating liquor was put to an end.
The Congress passed the Amendment on January 16,1919, but it only went into effect a year later. The
Volstead Act was passed with the Eighteenth Amendment on October 23, 1919. The Act was named
after Andrew Volstead, a Republican representative from Minnesota. The Volstead Act, also known as
the National Prohibition Act , determined intoxicating liquor as anything having an alcoholic content

The speak easy era was pretty outrageous, according to 20s jazz singer Hoagy Carmicheal. A bang of
bad booze, flappers with bare legs, jangled morals and wild weekends is what how he described it
(Pick, 1:4). By 1925, there were over 100,000 speak easies in New York City alone (Thornton, 5).
Furthermore, the illegal liquor business fell under the control of organized gangs, which overpowered
most of the authorities. Many bootleggers secured their business by bribing the authorities, namely
federal agents and persons of high political status. Mob bosses opened plush nightclubs with exotic
floor shows and the hottest bands. It was as if Prohibition was a joke in the United States. People were
drinking more than ever, and more people were dying from alcohol related diseases (Pick, 5).
Resulting from the lack of enforcement of the Prohibition Act and the creation of an illegal industry,
there was an increase in crime. Prohibitionists expected the Volstead Act to decrease intoxication in
America, and then the crime rate would decrease. At the start of Prohibition this purpose seemed to be
fulfilled, but the crime rate soon skyrocketed to nearly twice that of the pre prohibition period. In large
cities the homicide went from 5.6 (per 100,000 population) in the pre prohibition period, to nearly 10
(per 100,000 population) during prohibition, nearly a 78 percent increase (Stack, 2). Serious crimes,

Airtex Aviation Case Study AirTex Aviation 1. Did AirTex need a new control system at the time of
the takeover?
* The management system that was in place was one woman who magically kept everything in her
head. There was limited and almost incomprehensible formal system. Sarah Arthur, the company s
accountant, had complete autonomy over the company s information, and she kept this information
private. * AirTex was in need of a more formalized accounting system, since accounting was a central
department of the company, and profitability was a key measure to ensure the success of the company
at the time of the takeover. * Also, Ted and Frank had plans to dispose of Sarah Arthur, who was
acting manager upon their arrival. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

more on the potential. They saw aspects of the company that could be managed better. * They had to
let Sarah Arthur go because their philosophy was decentralization and Sarah Arthur ran a tight ship

completely turn over the workforce. Furthermore, Frank and Ted provided an environment that was
encouraging and supportive. Ted chose to be an emotional leader as opposed to a task leader . He also
set up his office with a blackboard to accommodate teaching. This encouraged managers to seek him
for advice when they encountered a problem and he was willing to provide mentoring and training.
Frank and Ted recognized that their employees were experienced and motivated to succeed in their
roles. As a result, Ted decided to take a backseat approach in terms of his management style. He didn t

Hartman Personality
Ever wondered what it would be like to have an accurate personality type? Hartman s personality quiz
can help you look for the answer. You can be red, blue, yellow, or white; but you can also be mixtures
between two, three or all four of the colors. I became a mixture of blue and yellow which made green.
I am a very passionate, caring, loyal, perfectionist and an unforgiving kind of person, which makes me
blue. Being blue reminds me of Linus off of Peanuts the old tv show, he s always down and droopy.
My friends deeply agree that I m the color blue, because they feel I m the mother of our friend group, I
m always wondering where they re at and I m always listening to what they have to say and I will try
my best to give them the best advice they need, I guess that s why they call me mother goose. My
family agrees that I am a very blue person. Having the ability as a blue to always feel guilty is one of
my disadvantages in life. No matter what the situation is I feel as if I should take the blame so no one

I m loud and friendly, I m very easy at making friends no matter who they are. My three best friends
are; orange, purple and white. Honestly, my orange friend and I are quite easy to get along with and
we never argue; my purple friend and I don t really get along that much, we argue a lot but we
eventually makeup at the end of the day. Having a white best friend is kind of confusing and hard. We
can never decide where to go eat or hang out, it s a never ending process of questions and constant
circles.
Family is extremely important to me. Ever since I ve found out my family s colors it finally clicked.
Having them take the test made everything link together on their personalities. I know when to make

A Mission Statement For A Strategic Planning
In formulating a process for undertaking a strategic plan for, say the veterinary services organization
mentioned in my course paper and presentation, a first step would be formulating at least a mission
statement for the organization. Since the veterinary clinic in question had not formalized a mission
statement its mission was perhaps nebulous or up for debate. Berman suggests that the original
mission statement might be revisited during the design phase (please see the following below),
however, if none is in place prior to the start of strategic planning then perhaps an attempt to develop
one at the start of the strategic planning process is advisable, even if it were to be revisited and
modified during the process. As the Chinese proverb states, 如果你不知道你要去哪裡,任何道路會
帶你去那裡。 * The mission statement allows the organization to develop specific goals and
programs and serve a purpose in the strategic planning process.
Berman states in Chapter 4, the purpose of strategic planning is change, and is therefore a process.
This process, he continues, is typically made up of four phases. These four phases are preplanning,
research, design and implementation. This process helps the organization to align priorities to
changing conditions and opportunities. In the case of the veterinary services organization, it was
poised for change and that change would be best pursued using a strategic planning process. The clinic
was ready for new goals and strategies, and needed to create a shared

Manipulation In John Donne s The Flea
Manipulation at First Sight
The seductive poem The Flea by John Donne makes a more effective argument for why
the love interest should yield to his affections than the seductive poem To His Coy Mistress by
Andrew Marvell. Donne s speaker is more effectively manipulative than Marvell s, and
Marvell s speaker does not have the command of logic that Donne s speaker has.
The first and most consistent tactic used by Donne s speaker in The Flea is alternating
meter. The first line of the poem is iambic tetrameter, with a trochaic first foot to catch the
attention of the reader; the second line of the poem is iambic pentameter. The meter fluctuates
between the two for the entire poem. This alternation works to keep the lover off balance ... Show

However, Marvell s speaker s
tactic fails to acknowledge that the lover, in reaction to being reminded of the impermanence of
life, may decide to pursue other courses of action in order to enjoy what apparently little time she
has left. He cannot guarantee that she will choose to spend her time with him once he reminds
her of her inevitable death. His argument is not definite or specific enough; his proposed course
of action (sex with him) does not directly correlate with the problem he sets up for the lover (her
Conversely, Donne s speaker uses direct logic to persuade the lover to agree with him.
His argument changes as the lover s attitude changes. He directly counters all of the lover s
oppositional arguments, which gives the lover no choice but to surrender to his logic. Donne s
speaker also makes use of multiple fields of study to appeal to the lover. His scientific argument
of comingled blood draws on the lover s logical sense, and his religious argument of marriage
and holiness in the flea draws on the lover s moral sense. If neither of these strategies work,

Pell Grant Advantages
The United States federal government provides needs based grants through the Federal Pell Grant
Program. Administered through the U.S. Department of Education, The Pell Grant award can be used
by the student at any of the estimated 5,400 participating postsecondary institutions for tuition, books,
transportation, and living expenses. Eligibility for the Pell Grant program requires the student to
demonstrate financial need, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and
provide financial information to determine the student s Expected Family Contribution (EFC). A Pell
Grant award is based on the student s EFC, which is calculated by a standard formula established by
Congress. This formula evaluates the information reported on the student s FAFSA, the cost of
attendance at student s chosen college, whether the student will attend part time or full time, and if the
student will attend a half academic or full academic year. The maximum award a student can receive
for the 2017 18 academic year will be $5,920. More than seven million students in the United States
are expected to receive a Pell Grant award to go to college.

The hero s journey begins with the hero being introduced in their ordinary world. This is where the
reader learns about the hero s background, flaws and strengths. This is so that the reader can establish
a bond with the situation, which gives them experience of an adventure through the hero. In chapter 1
of The Hobbit, Tolkien introduces Bilbo Baggins as an ordinary hobbit who lives in an ordinary hobbit
hole on the side of The Hill. In this chapter Tolkien hints towards Bilbo s mother s side, the Took clan,
who something was not entirely hobbit like about them (Page 13).

ends up being more than the actual event. I am not even adding if you are buying for more than just

Analysis of The Romantic Elements In Sleepy Hollow
In the novel Sleepy Hollow, by Peter Lerangis, several elements of the Romantic period of literature
are evident. Themes carry throughout the novel that suggest a strong Romantic influence upon the
text. The story is rich in colorful figurative language and contains a spell binding plot that leaves the
reader feeling very satisfied. In the midst of such an enchanting story are the Romantic themes, such
as a deep appreciation of nature in conjunction with the condemnation of city life, exaltation of
emotion over reason along with the defiance of conventional rules and traditions, and interest in local
folk/ethnic culture, while providing the reader with plenty of attention to the supernatural. Each of
these elements combines to create a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is ironic that for the duration of the beginning of the novel, Crane refuses to allow anyone to speak
of such theoretically impossible tales as the tale of the Headless Horseman. However, after seeing the
beast for himself, he is pleading with the people of the town that they must believe [him], and that he
can assure all of them of the visual contact he made with a horseman. A dead one. Headless! (Lerangis
66). With his newfound faith in the credibility of the legends around the hollow, Ichabod decides that
all of the logic and reason he had previously relied on are of no use to him. It is ironic that one night s
events have changed his views on reasoning so quickly. Nearing the novel s end, Ichabod burns all of
his ledgers and papers that had held his knowledge over the past several years. In doing so, it is
apparent that he has accepted the fact that sense and knowledge had betrayed him in Sleepy Hollow
(Lerangis 125). Ichabod s sense and knowledge are personified in this passage to show the reader that
two ideals which he had held so close to heart and high in regard had proved to be inadequate. This
further exaggerates the Romantic ideals of the power of emotion over all reason and logic. Along with
this newfound reliance on emotion rather than reason is a defiant quality of all formal rules and
traditions. All of the other authoritative figures in New York shun

China Is A Country That Affects The World And The Way...
China is a country that affects the world and the way people live. China has the second largest
economy and it grows through time. They have a large wealth of many minerals and natural resources,
which include coal, iron, copper, limestone and much more. These reserves of mineral and natural
resources help provide China with a steady foundation for rapid industrial growth. China is quickly
growing and it s population is increasing enormously. It s booming economy and industry are a huge
catalyst for the economic status of many other countries, of those including the U.S.
One of the major ways that China is affecting the world, and particularly the U.S., is the exchange
rate. Devaluation, the official lowering of a country s currency within a fixed exchange rate system,
has boosted China s exports in the past several years. It has also caused Chinese made goods to be
much less expensive, and U.S. imports, as well as imports from other countries, to become more
expensive. Although China s economy is benefitting from this change, other countries such as the U.S.
have been greatly impacted.
China has been growing a lot in the past few years, and most of the products we use in our everyday
life are imported from China and their manufacturers. One very common product most of us use is the
iPhone and as you may, or may not know, the U.S. manufactures this product in China. Why you may

Human Nature And The Desire For Superiority
Holly Donohoe
Period B2
Human Nature and the Desire for Superiority
It s no doubt that superiority and power has played a huge role in the past present and will in the
future. Throughout American Literature, it is a dominant trait in many protagonists and especially
antagonists. The desirable trait has caused many conflicts and hardship and in turn, has led to the
demise of a civilizations in the past. In the film Apocalypse Now, the novella the Heart of Darkness,
and the poem The Hollow Men, it is shown how the desire for power can impose negative impacts not
only a civilization, but to the pursuer of that power as well. Containing so much power can bring out
the best in people, and at most times, it can bring out the worst. However, many people wonder how is
it that a civilization just allows a group of people or a person to dominate them without a fight. The
Hollow Men are a part of a society that has ridden them of their own beliefs in order to leave room to
impart their own dominion. On the other hand, the character Colonel Kurtz, who is apparent in both
Apocalypse Now and the novella, takes on this role as a god in the eyes of the natives, the power later
leads to his insanity.
The Hollow Men now live in a prominently atheist society, the Hollow Men no longer have the
freedom to embrace their own views, but rather the godless form of their society s beliefs (Colonel
Kurtz). The Hollow men attempt to follow their God and hold true to their beliefs, however, they re

Morquio Syndrome
Morquio syndrome is an uncommon hereditary birth defect that is likely to happen in one of every
200,000 births. This illness may not be noticeable at birth. Some symptoms start between the years of
1 and 3. This syndrome is an advanced illness meaning that each year the child gets older this disease
gets even worse.
Morquio syndrome belongs to a group of syndromes named mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS). Morquio
is also identified as MPS IV.In kids with Morquio syndrome, the body cannot breakdown sugar

Morquio syndrome is treated in several ways, because the disorder can disturb quite a lot of body
systems. Depending on the intensity of the illness the treatment is different. Some children may only
need cautious observing. Others might need non surgical or surgical treatments to address precise
features of their condition.
Several children with Morquio disease are detected with orthopedic disorders containing: scoliosis,
kyphosis, skeletal dysplasia, narrow chest, joint conditions and leg deformities. In some cases, these
conditions are present at birth and can be treated when the child is very young.
Depending on your child s needs, orthopedic specialists from our Spine Program, Hip Disorders
Program, Leg Disorders Program or Sports Medicine may treat your child.
My opinion
Cognitive function is typically usual in patients with Morquio syndrome. Bone deformities can cause
significant problems. Such as, the small bones on top of the neck might slip and ruin the spinal cord,
leading to paralysis. Surgery is needed to help correct these problems. But cardiac complications may
lead to death. This disease is very complicated and it s needed of much medical attention. A million
condolences to those who poses such syndrome. But keep trying never give up stay very

  • 2. Film Techniques In Pride And Prejudice Originally published in 1813, Pride and Prejudice can be recognized as Jane Austen s most popular novel in the romance genre. Through the years, the book has been adapted into many films and television series. The 2005 film adaptation directed by Joe Wright brought to life this Georgian Era romance in its own abridged style. Makes you believe in true love, happily ever after and all the other stuff a romantic comedy promises but so seldom delivers. Satisfyingly rich. The sumptuous new screen adaptation has so much to recommend it. (THE NEW YORK TIMES). Lady Catherine s late night visit to the Bennet household to interrogate Elizabeth is a true representation of the dramatic effect created by the low key lighting. As there were no artificial lighting existing in this time period, candles were used as a light source which reflected the intended drama. There was also a scene detailing Elizabeth walking onto the front porch to stop and look at her parents in her father s office, the warming of the lighting reflects a happy, cheerful mood. But as she enters the house, this brightness it transferred to high key lighting where many sharp shadows are created to keep the audience focused yet the happiness from the previous shot is continued, creating a happy scene. • 6. A Deeper Look Into Indiana s Law A Deeper Look into Indiana s Law Many thoughts should run through one s mind as they skim through The Editorial Board of Terre Haute Tribune Star s It s time to expand Indiana s civil rights law editorial piece. This editorial presents many flaws that can be spotted with one read through. The opinion piece is written with good intentions; however, The Board commits quite a few errors in the delivery. Inconsistencies and appeals to an already sympathetic audience make it difficult for this editorial to convince any skeptics to switch sides on the issues that are raised. While The Board was obviously passionate about this writing, the editorial is not effective due to insufficient evidence and only one viewpoint among other oversights. This piece tries to raise concerns about Indiana s wellbeing and shortcomings that all relate back to one law, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), which gives businesses the right to exercise their religious beliefs when running their operations. Unsupported evidence is one of the major setbacks in this mission of The Board. It begins when The Board said, But RFRA backfired (par. 4) ( It s time to expand Indiana s civil rights law ). There is no solid evidence of this assertion throughout the remainder of the editorial with only one weak sentence to follow that statement which says, Despite attempts to fix it, Indiana continues to pay for it through lost economic investment and a tarnished public image ( It s time to expand ... • 7. Cycle For English Reflection Every cycle for English, we have to write two different reflections relating to the topics we discuss in class. The reflections have to be on two different days, but they can be on any two days we want. I think the reason behind having us write the reflections about two different days makes us reflect on the cycle as a whole, rather than a singular, individual day. Also, having us write reflections about two different days could prevent procrastination, and therefore produces better work. I think the reason behind Doc Mitsuda letting us choose which days we write the reflection on lies with time management and what happens in class on different days. Some people have different activities on different days, so it could be more convenient for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Harry Potter and The Sorcerer s Stone there are many ways symbolism is used, even the smallest things are noticed. Rowling makes you really analyze the text to dig out your own interpretation. J.K. Rowling uses brilliant literary techniques to create symbolism in Harry Potter and The Sorcerer s Stone. • 9. A faith in species equality At the ripe age of fourteen, my life consisted of friends, school, family and the latest social media networking sites. Lacking commitment and ideals, I went with the flow and considered myself a normal teen. I liked shopping and adored cute animals, the typical generic qualities of a freshman girl entering high school. One night while I ritually logged onto my Facebook checking my notifications, I received a message from one of the Facebook group pages I had recently joined named cute puppies. I clicked the message describing a link to an animal rights video. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At one point in time God mandated man and animal to eat solely from the earth. Perhaps in one of the western world s oldest and most influential and powerful texts, there was reasoning for the implied notion of equality. He creates man and woman at a synchronized point in time, on the same day he creates all other earthly creatures again at the same time. He gives the same instructions and blessings to animals as he does to man and woman he says, God blessed them saying, be fruitful and multiply (Genesis, 1:22, 28). He also instructs both man and animal that the earth is a food source for all. The text implies that animal and human are created and instructed in an analogous fashion, as equal inhabitants of the earth, similar to the ideal against speciesism, that all of God s creatures or earth inhabitants desire the equal right to life. The same texts that seems to imply the guidelines of animal equality, is the main source of the Judeo Christian faith. • 10. The Aca Requirements For Insurers The ACA requirements for insurers to cover mammogram Policy background Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the US. About 40,000 women die from breast cancer each year, making it the second leading cause of cancer death among women (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, n.d.). The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (2010) requires insurers to provide coverage for and shall not impose any cost sharing requirements for preventive services which are in the current recommendation of the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF). Nevertheless, the ACA makes an exception for breast cancer screening by stating that the USPSTF s recommendation regarding mammogram shall be considered the most current other than those issued in or around November 2009 . By using this legislative tool, the federal government mandates health insurers to provide coverage for annual or biennial mammograms in women aged 40 and older (US Preventive Services Task Force, 2013). While the ACA regulates the age limit, frequency, and cost sharing rule of mammogram at federal level, preceding state policies regarding reimbursement for breast cancer screening dates back to the 1980s. Before the implementation of the ACA, the District of Columbia and all states except Utah required health insurance to cover mammogram. Laws vary slightly from state to state, but most of them mandate coverage for biennial mammograms for women aged 40 to 49 and annual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Narrative in visual culture May 14th 2012 Vis Com 1st Year Non linear narrative structures have deeply influenced how subjects are presented in visual culture. Joanne Duff DT545 Vis Com 1st Year Non linear narrative structures have deeply influenced how subjects are presented in visual culture. The first movie I looked at was Irréversible, a French movie written, directed and produced by Gasper Noé. Noé employs a non linear narrative to force the audience to think about the actions taken by those seeking vengeance before the reasons behind these actions are known. The movie is told in reverse order, beginning with the main character murdering the person he believed brutally attacked his girlfriend. The intention of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Noé places these scenes in the first half of the movie, to give us a different perspective on the characters and their lives. The film ends with scenes depicting Marcus and Alex happy together, which the viewer must watch while knowing exactly how things will end for them. We also learn that the man Marcus and Pierre murdered in the gay club wasn t the man they were looking for, we realise that Le Tenia was standing beside this man, and stood transfixed as he watch them viciously beat the man they believed to be him. Alex is attacked by Le Tenia The attack in the club and the rape scene are so cruel and graphic that they are rendered almost unwatchable, which is how Noé intended them to be. The violence is unglamorised and gritty; the rape scene is completely non sexual and uncomfortably long. The non linear narrative of Irréversible is what makes the movie interesting, if the movie story was told in a linear way it wouldn t create the same interest in the lives of the characters. We wouldn t feel the same about happy characters whose lives are ruined as we would about something terrible happening to the characters and then to watch them living happily oblivious to the events that will ruin their lives. Analyzing 50 s And 60s American Society Through Music Analyzing 50 s and 60s American society through music The two songs that I am going to analyze Is Nina Simone To Be Young, Gifted and Black, and Gil Scott Heron Whitey on the Moon . I will view both of these songs in terms of there contributions to the counter hegemonic force fighting against the dominant white supremacist ideology that was prevalent during the 50 s and 60 s. To give some quick context about Nina Simone, she was a genuine musical artist who routinely recorded music that ranged across tunes from all genres. The greatest of these was To Be Young, Gifted and Black, which Simone composed with her new protégé Weldon Irvine, a youthful jazz artist and arranger of musicals, whose frightful verses paid tribute to the late civil rights activist Lorraine Hansberry, who fought bravely for the rights of all Americans before her unfourtanate death. Nina Simone had noticed that the moral of black Americans was destroyed by the way that the dominant ideology of white supremacy which had successfully sold the idea that all races that were not White were inferior, low class citizens who should accept there roles and deal with it. She acted as a counter hegemonic force that challenged the way blacks were thought to view themselves for what they really are, valuable, talented, and gifted human beings just like the Anglos were. Born into the Jewish religion of which he had no interest in taking part of, Freud was an exceptional man who was very advanced, aware of his surroundings and stubborn. This man was a psychologist, doctor of medical and the Albert Einstein of psychoanalysis if I should say. Freud had a lot of theory s which everyone along with myself didn t quite agree with them all. Born on the 6th day of may in 1856, a man by the name of Sigmund Freud was not only smart; unique in his ways as a boy. During the years of 1885 1886 Freud s train of thought changed; he realized that in order for him to understand hysteria, he would have to study psychology and not neurology. He believed that the main characteristic of the neurotic person was a lack of normal sex, that s ironic for him to say because not one time threw out this book did I hear him speak on his own sex life, which would lead me to think he didn t have children if he hadn t spoken of them. Freud beliefs of young men between the age of four five in the phallic stage being sexually interested in their mother and aggression towards the father is by far bizarre and disturbing to me. It seems that everything that had to do with neurology in somewhat way lead back to some form of sex or sexuality. In 1892 Freud stopped doing hypnotist practices and changed to free association in order to increase his understanding of neurosis theory. This man believed every symbol in ones dream had to do with something of sex, umbrellas were the symbols of the penis, purse s were the symbols of the vagina. Truly don t understand how he came to that consumption but never the less he was unique in his own way of thought. The escalating cost of fuel directly increases the cost of truck rolls which depending on installer status (employee or contractor) is on average a $150.00. In most cases the company does not charge an install fee for this truck roll so the cost is added to the ROI (Return on Investment) that is calculated for each customer. At home you re not going to have to do chores, or probably not as many as you would have to do if you were living on your own. Yes, it might be best for some young adults to live at home with parents until they are ready, but they also need to start taking the initiative and find ways to achieve their goals on their own. Some parents need to redefine what it really means to help your children. If you are just helping to make yourself better, you re probably not doing what is best for your child. People were drinking more than ever, and more people were dying from alcohol related diseases (Pick, 5). Resulting from the lack of enforcement of the Prohibition Act and the creation of an illegal industry, there was an increase in crime. Prohibitionists expected the Volstead Act to decrease intoxication in America, and then the crime rate would decrease. At the start of Prohibition this purpose seemed to be fulfilled, but the crime rate soon skyrocketed to nearly twice that of the pre prohibition period. • 24. A Mission Statement For A Strategic Planning In formulating a process for undertaking a strategic plan for, say the veterinary services organization mentioned in my course paper and presentation, a first step would be formulating at least a mission statement for the organization. Since the veterinary clinic in question had not formalized a mission statement its mission was perhaps nebulous or up for debate. Berman suggests that the original mission statement might be revisited during the design phase (please see the following below), however, if none is in place prior to the start of strategic planning then perhaps an attempt to develop one at the start of the strategic planning process is advisable, even if it were to be revisited and modified during the process. As the Chinese proverb states, 如果你不知道你要去哪裡,任何道路會 帶你去那裡。 * The mission statement allows the organization to develop specific goals and programs and serve a purpose in the strategic planning process. Berman states in Chapter 4, the purpose of strategic planning is change, and is therefore a process. This process, he continues, is typically made up of four phases. These four phases are preplanning, research, design and implementation. This process helps the organization to align priorities to changing conditions and opportunities. In the case of the veterinary services organization, it was poised for change and that change would be best pursued using a strategic planning process. The clinic was ready for new goals and strategies, and needed to create a shared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the midst of such an enchanting story are the Romantic themes, such as a deep appreciation of nature in conjunction with the condemnation of city life, exaltation of emotion over reason along with the defiance of conventional rules and traditions, and interest in local folk/ethnic culture, while providing the reader with plenty of attention to the supernatural. These reserves of mineral and natural resources help provide China with a steady foundation for rapid industrial growth. China is quickly growing and it s population is increasing enormously. It s booming economy and industry are a huge catalyst for the economic status of many other countries, of those including the U.S. One of the major ways that China is affecting the world, and particularly the U.S., is the exchange rate. Devaluation, the official lowering of a country s currency within a fixed exchange rate system, has boosted China s exports in the past several years. Human Nature And The Desire For Superiority Holly Donohoe Period B2 Human Nature and the Desire for Superiority It s no doubt that superiority and power has played a huge role in the past present and will in the future. Throughout American Literature, it is a dominant trait in many protagonists and especially antagonists. The desirable trait has caused many conflicts and hardship and in turn, has led to the demise of a civilizations in the past. In the film Apocalypse Now, the novella the Heart of Darkness, and the poem The Hollow Men, it is shown how the desire for power can impose negative impacts not only a civilization, but to the pursuer of that power as well. Containing so much power can bring out the best in people, and at most times, it can bring out the worst. However, many people wonder how is it that a civilization just allows a group of people or a person to dominate them without a fight. The Hollow Men are a part of a society that has ridden them of their own beliefs in order to leave room to impart their own dominion.
