persuaded by other individuals when it comes to choosing a side. In the beginning of the novel, Doctor
Spivey agrees with the Nurse because of his tendency to be easily manipulated and because of the
consequences that may come about if he were to disagree with her plan of action. Doctor Spivey s
masculinity was stripped by Nurse Ratched along with the other patients. Once Mcmurphy is admitted
to the ward the Doctor begins to see how the ward is ran through a different perspective, and he starts
to stand up for the men instead of lurking in the shadows of Nurse Ratched. Doctor Spivey has a
discussion with Mcmurphy about the music; they make a plan to make the patients happy. During the
meeting Doctor Spivey tells the men that the day room will have the music turned up for the chronics
and the acutes can go to another room where there will be no music. Unlike the Nurse, Doctor Spivey
is willing to change the routine up, and accommodate both the needs and wants of all the patients.
This action also presents to the reader that being influenced by others isn t always bad, it just means
that you are listening to others opinions. The turning point in the novel is when the Doctor decides to

Here we are looking at details as a whole, as a way/ways of practicing architecture. Laying out all the
different possibilities there are for rather justifiable or non justifiable architecture fast beyond the
present time to the near future.
For many years I have questioned these dilemmas; trying to understand how the virtual world and the
coming future of architecture is being translated into real architecture yet conveying its meaning and

Life after St. Jerome s: Indian Horse Novel Study For years, First Nations children endured the
harrowing experiences of residential schools. It was not until 1996, did the final residential school
close down. It took over a hundred years of physical, physiological, and the sexual abuse of thousands
of children before residential schools existed no more. Although they do not exist anymore, residential
schools continue to cause pain throughout First Nations communities. There are a variety of novels
that describe the accounts of residential school survivors, both fiction and non fiction, each powerful
in their own way. Indian Horse, a novel by Richard Wagamese, is one of these novels. The book
follows Saul Indian Horse, a boy of Ojibwe descent, and his experiences within St. Jerome s Indian
Residential School. Saul turns to hockey as a form of protection from the fowl memories of his
experiences at St. Jerome s, using the game to ignore the sexual abuse he endured. This denial results
in Saul s pain, which comes out in the form anger on the ice, and which ultimately results in him
taking up alcohol. It is only when Saul returns to St. Jerome s, that he is able to stop the denial, and
