George Armstrong Custer s Death In The Battle Of Little...
The Battle of Little Bighorn, also known as the Battle of Greasy Grass, was not a significant battle
when comparing death count, but it was a big turning point in the course of American History. George
Custer was a widely respected military leader who had rarely lost a battle up until that point. It was a
shock to the white population that an Indian tribe had that much power and could beat such a powerful
army with such advanced military tactics. George Armstrong Custer s arrogance and the already tense
relations with the Sioux Indians were the main factors that ultimately contributed to his death in the
Battle of Little Bighorn.
George Armstrong Custer was born in Ohio on December 5, 1839. He entered the military academy at
West Point in 1857. He was not strong academically, but he showed strong leadership qualities at an
early age. Custer got into the militaristic mindset early in life. He entered the American Civil War
fresh out of West Point and became quite famous as a member of a generation of boy generals known
for their aggressiveness. He reported to the 2nd US Cavalry as 2nd Lieutenant in the battle of the First
Bull Run. Custer briefly served on the staff of Brigadier General Philip ... Show more content on

Crazy Horse, the greatest of the Sioux Chiefs, led his people in a valiant, but futile struggle against
domination by the white culture. Instrumental in the U.S. Army s defeats at Rosebud and the Little
Bighorn, he fought to the last to hold native land for his people. Crazy Horse was very much respected
by his people. The Sioux Indians were a people of war and he was able to give them a sense of
independence and show them that they deserved it. He was able to give his people the motivation they
needed to fight for their freedom. He never attended a peace council or signed any kind of peace treaty

Essay On Dental Sealant
The purpose of this research was to prove that the School Based Dental Sealant program could
improve access to Preventive Dental Service. The authors investigated 8145 students in Framingham,
Massachusetts which was considered representative of the 66190 residents living in west/ southwest of
Boston. The study began after applying oral survey to all first and second grade students in
Framingham from 2000 to 2009. In this period of time, all students were screened for the number of
teeth filled, number of teeth with untreated decay, number of teeth extracted, existing sealants on the
first molar, and identification of first molars in need of sealant. And then the dental officials applied
sealant to the molars of those students who had high potential of developing carries.
Although students were identified and informed of the dental care they needed, just 29% of students in
2003 were willing to receive sealants. In 2004, just 26% of the students were willing to receive
sealants resulting in 52% of students having tooth decay. Over the six year period, the dental
hygienists and nurses of Boston schools applied sealant and gave them 20 to 25 minutes of oral ...

The effectiveness of preventive education is moderated by the patient s beliefs and cultural and social
norms. In my home country, in the villages, it is the custom that people expect to lose their teeth by
the time they are old, so it takes a lot of persuasion to get them to believe they can keep their teeth if
they take care of them. Understanding different cultures increases the dental hygienist s competency
and trustworthiness. It is worthwhile being part of the diversity class. Thus, during the time I study in
the dental hygiene program I will have a chance to learn more about cultural differences in order to
improve my communication

Motherless Princesses In Disney Films
Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Jasmine from
Aladdin, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and even Elsa and Anna from Frozen all have one thing in
common: They are motherless. This presentation will explore Disney s motherless princesses and how
women are represented in the films. Not only are the mothers absent but when there is a mother figure
in place she is cruel and evil. To understand exactly why this is so prevalent in many Disney films,
this work will build upon the works of Ann Hall and Mardia Bishop, Marjorie Worthington, and Lynda
Haas. Thus, it appears Disney movies have removed mothers and replaced them with evil or uncaring
mother figures. Also, multiple sources contend that the, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

them gain access to it or to navigate through it. Kimball (1999) And for Cinderella and Snow White

is that older women women of motherhood age, at least are not to be trusted; sure, your stepmother

One can only wonder what is this image of the evil and jealous older woman might discourage girls
from viewing mothers as role models and loving sources of wisdom, and rather encourage them to you
to see us as threats. Griffin (2000) Mothers have been so effectively erased from these films that their
absence is never remarked upon by the characters and, perhaps more importantly, their absence
absence is therefore never noticed by the spectators, young girls. Hall (2009) The fact that Disney
seems to revel in killing or erasing mothers has been widely discussed, and all eras of princess films
are consistent in their erasure of a mother figure. Abate

Invasion Of Poland Research Paper
The Invasion of Poland was a war between Germany, the Soviet Union and Poland. Germany invaded
Poland and began with World War II. German took the victory in 1939. On September 1,1939, The
Nazi Germans leader, Adolf Hitler, launched an invasion of Poland that triggered the start of World
War II. The invasion lasted September until October 1939. Germany had a better military force than
the Polish before the conflict.
Rather than having a strong defense, Poland troops rushed to the Germans and were captured or killed.

Points are used by the DMV to evaluate driving records. Everyone starts off with a clean driving
record; if you get a traffic ticket you points can go up. Tickets for speeding, parking tickets, not using
turn signals, parking in handicapped spots, reckless driving, DUI, DWI, driving on a suspended
license, driving without a license or drag racing can all make your points go up. You can receive one
point for less severe traffic violations including speeding, running a red light, not using turn signals or
getting into an accident that was your fault. You can receive two points for reckless driving, causing
injury due to reckless driving, DUI, hit and run, driving in the wrong direction, driving with a

resolved. Often times traffic school can even be done online. There is a fee for the driving school and
it is typically the same amount as the fine. Unfortunately you cannot be considered for traffic school if
your violation is a misdemeanor, if it is because of traffic tickets, if it involved any alcohol or drugs, if
you must appear in court, if you were driving a commercial vehicle, and if you have a commercial
driver s license. Types of infractions include parking where you aren t supposed including red zones
and handicapped space, running a red light, turning illegally, not stopping at a stop sign, changing
lanes with no signal, using the carpool lane with no passengers, no headlights when driving at night,
and hitting another vehicle. You can attend traffic school if you hold a valid driver s license and if you
are eligible by the courts to attend driving school you will receive a notice in the mail with the details.
If you ve been have a traffic ticket that is causing your points to go up, causing your insurance
company to potentially drop you or causing your license to go suspended you should hire a traffic

King Arthur Alternate Ending
Oh, no, Alfred was hot.
Arthur scowled at the boy, hoping, praying that he wasn t coming to sit by him. He was. Alfred sat
down, lunch tray piled with everything and anything unhealthy. And he grinned, and his mouth was
still full of metal.
Arthur latched on to that.
Snaggletooth, Arthur greeted.
I see you re still a douche, Alfred smiled, opening a pudding cup. Miss me over the summer? I missed
you. I had this punching bag, right, and every time I smacked it in the face, I thought about you!
Alfred licked the lid of the pudding cup.

I see you ve been taking steroids, Arthur snapped later during gym. He had tried to get fit over the

Alfred guffawed, finishing his ten push ups. Arthur, are you jealous? I ve been working on these

Arthur laughed, snorting through his nose. He kicked Alfred s arm, the younger boy still lying down
on the floor. Alfred rolled over onto his back, cursing happily at Arthur. Arthur continued to kick him
until the teacher called them away into teams.
Arthur skipped the showers; he didn t think he could quite handle Alfred in the nude, yet. He changed,

The Controversy over Stem Cells and Parkinson s Disease...
The Controversy over Stem Cells and Parkinson s Disease
Without any thought, without even noticing it happens, when one has an itch, they scratch it. The arm
moves up to the face, the fingers reach down and move across the skin. This series of actions, which
many of us do everyday is something individuals with Parkinson s disease struggle with every
moment of their lives. Simple movements are replaced by frozen limbs that they or their nervous
system can not move. Described by many as a type of momentary paralysis, the disease causes gradual
degeneration in patients until they are no longer able to perform the most basic bodily functions, such
as swallowing or blinking.
Parkinson s disease is a neurological disorder that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the past twenty years, many drugs have been developed to treat the disease. Although the cause of
Parkinson s disease is still unknown, scientists have been developing methods of treatment and
therapy. The idea is to replace dopamine in the brain, which is accomplished, to some extent, with the
administration of L Dopa. In conjunction with other drugs, L Dopa inhibits the enzymes that break
down L dopa in the liver, thus making a greater part of it available to the brain (5). This treatment is
very successful, but it only hinders the disease for a time and it is by no means a cure. That leaves us
with stem cells and the role they play in treatment of Parkinson s disease.
There are many different types of stem cells which can be implanted in patients to regenerate or
replace the damaged or abnormal cells caused by not only diseases like Parkinson s but also
Alzheimer s and spinal cord injuries (2). A specific example in relation to Parkinson s is the harvesting
of embryonic stem cells. These human embryonic stem cells can be transplanted into the brain to
replace and create dopamine neurons. The controversy is in how one can obtain these stem cells.
During fertilization, in humans, the embryo is hollow and contains cells that eventually develop into a
fetus (1). Researchers have discovered, as recently as 1998, that the cells in the embryo contain all

Animal Experimentation Is Unethical
Imagine living inside a locked closet without any control over any aspect of your life. You can t
choose when and what you eat, how you will spend your time, whether or not you will have a partner
and children, or who that partner will be. You can t even decide when the lights go on and off.
Animal experimentation is when live animals are forced to undergo a scientific experiment that will
cause them pain, misery, anguish, or lasting harm. Different types of animal experiments include force
feeding animals with dangerous substances, leaving animals in radiation, surgically removing organs
to cause damage, forcing animals to breathe in toxic gases, and putting animals in terrifying situations
to create mental illnesses. Common animals used in animal experimentation include, but are not
limited to, mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, octopuses, rats, and mice. These animals are all exposed
to horrific and terrifying experiments. Animal experimentation is cruel and no animal should have to
endure that kind of undeserving pain. Reasons against animal experimentation are that it is unethical,
there are many flaws in animal experimentation, there are better options other than animal testing, and
animal experimentation is unnecessary. Animals suffer through a great deal of pain when it comes to
animal experimentation, and the tests performed are very unethical. Each year more than 115 million
animals are killed in United States laboratories for various amounts of reasons such as

The Lost Boys Of Sudan Film Analysis
The second Sudanese Civil War in Sudan forced millions of innocent people to flee their homes and
families in search for safety. Doing so, many got displaced or killed because of starvation, genocidal
murder and bomb raids. Those who survived were sent to a refugee camp in Kenya and some the lost
boys a name given by aid workers at the camp, had the fortune to be sent by the United States to
America to start a new life. Among these were Panther Bior, John Bul Dau, and Daniel Abol Pach,
whose life was documented in God Grew Tired of Us. Furthermore, the documentary explores the
lives of the Lost Boys of Sudan and their journey as they learn to adapt to the American Life, a life
much better and advanced than the oppressed life they lived. The directors, Christopher Dillon Quinn
and Tommy Walker, aim to show how the boys cope with learning new customs, rules, trying to keep a
job, amongst other things, all while doing the best they can to stay rooted in their culture and help
those they left behind in the refugee camp. With actual footage and relatable characters, the film sets a
tone that evokes sympathy to viewers, thus relaying a need of action and validating his message of
Americans forgetfulness and ignorance to their blessings.
The beginning of the film showing real footage from the Civil War in Sudan, the starvation and the
condition the young men were in, serves as a way to build the setting, characters and context. Along
with those archives, the directors back up

Earthquake Intensities
Earthquake Intensities
Earthquakes are a marvel of geology. When faults under the surface of the earth move, the ground
moves. These earthquakes can be very mild, barely registering or they can be horrific with far
reaching consequences. Scientists have become fascinated with the study of earthquakes for centuries
but it is only in recent years that quantified data has been collected and analyzed by scientists
regarding these geologic phenomena. Before the invention of the Richter scale, less accurate means of
measuring an earthquake s intensity were used by geological scientists.
Until the early 1900s, earthquakes could only be measured after the earthquake had ended and then
only approximations could be made. The first attempt at scientifically measuring an earthquake s
intensity was performed in the middle of the nineteenth century. In Italy in 1857, the after effects of an
earthquake were quantified (Lutgen 2011, page 179). A map was created to show the comparable
damages that were found in different areas. This allowed geographers to make maps which would
show the areas of highest intensity and how intensity lessened in surrounding areas. Although this was
helpful, it only showed comparative intensities, not quantified data.
In 1902, Giuseppe Mercalli developed what was called the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale. An
American version of the Mercalli system was incorporated in 1931. This system judged intensity of
earthquakes based upon the ways California

Background/History of Radiation
Can be traced back to experiments made soon after the discovery of x rays (1895), when it was shown
that exposure to radiation produced cutaneous burns. The use of radiation continues today as a
treatment for cancer in radiation therapy. Henri Becquerel discovered after multiple experiments that it
was the material itself that gave off the rays. Later on Marie Curie named it radioactivity. She found
out the elements which are thorium, polonium, and radium. Radiation was really helpful during World
War 1. During that time, people found out that radiation materials that are high can be extremely
dangerous. People can die because of radiation, because of radiation exposure. That was proven with,
Radium Girls . In 1993, it provided a wealth of information on the long term effect of radiation
exposure. The case also provoked drastic changes in both the fields of workplace safety liability, and
the field of Health Physics, dealing with the health effects and safety issues involved in working with
radioactive materials. The Manhattan Project that had a bomb involved, led to the long term radiation
exposure.

Statue Of Liberty Research Paper
History of the Monument The Statue of Liberty has had many symbolic representations from its
creation. The Statue of Liberty was built by the French and given to United States in 1886. The French
valued the democratic meaning and leaders that had prospered in America such as Abraham Lincoln.
This view can also be transferred to the American point of view. When an American sees the Statue of
Liberty and the Ellis island monument they should remember the history and process that America
went through to achieve a fully democratic and equal society. This monument should commemorate
what the American dream means such as Liberty and equality for all. Since this representation is what

The idea behind it representing a new life for immigrants is the most commonly known yet there has
been pivotal moments in history in which it s representation is taken into different ways to fit ones
argument. At first the French gave the Statue to the US a symbol of a strong relationship between two
democratic nations. Then when slaves were free the Statue of Liberty s broken shackles at the bottom
represented their new opportunities when it actually was supposed to be freedom from monarchical
governments. When immigrants began arriving through Ellis island it soon became a symbol of new
beginnings and Liberty. When immigrants hit a new nerve with Americans, anti immigration believers
began using the Statue of Liberty as a way to restrict more migrants as they thought that these new
immigrants would tear down the Statue of Liberty. The statues reception adjusted throughout the
United States with factors such as geography and political parties. As the Statue was put together
during the reconstruction phase after the Civil war, many southerners thought it was to show the that
the union had won and prospered. Also it represented how there was no longer slaves in the United
States. This all contributed to a mostly negative point of view from the South. In the North, the Statue
was widely received as a symbol of a new America. Many parades were held on the unveiling of the
Statue and its popularity quickly

Reflection On The Twenty Second Amendment Of The...
The twenty second amendment of the Constitution of United States states that, No person shall be
elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of
President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was
elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. I fully support this
amendment and believe that it has helped our country many times. As the book says in Chapter 6,
Popular wisdom has it that second termers are therefore lame duck(pg.111) , I feel that this is a very
true statement. I feel that the general populations mindset that second and third terms for presidents
are usually duds did not just happen suddenly. I believe these views evolved over a longer amount of
times. People began seeing presidential success fall off as the president returned to office after their

an undeniable value. A dobsonian is a telescope that uses the Newtonian style of bouncing rays of
light back into the scope from the tube. The mirror s width allows for varying amounts of photons
depending on the telescope. The wider the mirror the more luminous the image. Newton was able to

this resulted in a revolution in telescope construction adhered to by Orion SkyQuest today. Here is a

The Decline Of Fertility Rates
In 1930, Thompson developed one of the first theories to explain the decline in fertility rates starting
to be seen in industrializing nations (Thompson, 1930). Joined by Notestein in 1953, this classical
theory of demographic transition postulates that changes in social life from industrialization and
urbanization would cause first a decline in mortality followed by a decline in fertility (Notestein,
1953; Mason, 1997). Since the early 20th century, the world has undergone major demographic
changes. In the first decade of the 21st century for the first time, the old outnumbered the young, and
the median number of children per woman fell below replacement levels (Cohen, 2005). These major
changes illustrate the now well known concept of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Demography is influenced by a multitude of factors, many of which are yet unknown or
unquantifiable. Demographic changes can arise from unsuspecting sources; for example Chong et al
(2008) found that the spread of soap operas in Brazil, which portrayed smaller families than typical in
Brazil, contributed to fertility decline in that country through shifting cultural ideals. Acknowledging
that demographic changes occur due to a great variety of economic, social, cultural, ecologic and other
causes, I will focus on the role that health policies can play in demographic trends both pre and post
the demographic transition by examining the cases of Bangladesh and Germany.
I will also examine how demographic trends may influence economic growth. During the period of
population growth in the demographic transition, society may experience economic growth in what is
known as the demographic dividend. During this period, the population participating in the labor force
is greater than the dependent population, freeing up resources for innovation and investment (Lee and
Mason, 2006). However, this dividend is not guaranteed but must be created through a conducive
policy environment (Bloom et al, 2003). Post transition, economic growth continues to be a concern as
society confronts the burden of an aging, and potentially shrinking, population.

Bangladesh has been experiencing its demographic transition

Form Of Government In The 17th And 18th Century
For over 5,000 years of human civilization, there has always been a need for societal structure and
stability. People developed governments in order to guarantee that structure and stability are present
within the region. While there are various forms of government, some are more effective than others.
Yet the effectiveness of that form of government is mostly dictated by the time period it is being used
in. Even though democracy is widely regarded as the best form of government in the 21st century, the
same cannot be said for the 17th and 18th centuries. The most effective form of government for the
17th and 18th centuries in Europe is absolutism because of the power of religious unity, the
importance of fear, and the focus of the overall well being of the state.
Where democracy falls short is in the power of religious unity. Democracy promotes secular values
which would have been extremely unsuccessful at the time while the very foundation of absolutism is
based on a religious concept called the theory of The Divine Right of Kings. As explained by King
James I of England in 1609, the theory of The Divine Right of Kings states that for kings are not only
God s lieutenants upon Earth, and sit upon God s throne, but even by God himself they are called
gods. The theory explains that the King was sent from God and is accountable to nobody but God.
This connection between religion and policy allows for unanimous agreement for any course of action.

Economics of Rough Diamonds Essay
Countries in Africa rely heavily on their exportation of diamonds along with oil for income. The
revenue from the exportation of rough diamonds has either helped countries develop or lead to
catastrophic events. The economic comparison of countries that sell rough diamonds can vary greatly.
Some African countries strive for economic independence where as others have faced years of conflict
and poverty. The economic and political oversight of rough diamonds compared differently
throughout countries in Africa. Two countries that are plentiful in rough diamond resources are
Botswana and Angola. These two countries took two different economic paths. Botswana embraced a

The leaders of Botswana wanted to improve the standard of living for their people and bring economic
independence to a newly democratic country. This agreement also helped protect Botswana from
rebels invading their country for diamonds. Angola s Government was overseen by Portugal up until
the mid 1970 s. Angola wanted to gain independence from Portugal and the Portuguese Government
was unwilling to do so. A liberation movement started causing three different unified forces to form.
Those forces were the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), National Front for
the Liberation of Angola (FNLA), and the National Union for the Total Independence (UNITA). These
forces banded together to remove the Portuguese government from power. By the late 1970 s, the
MPLA was forming a new government under their control. Even though, the MPLA gained control of
the government, UNITA and FNLA wanted to run the government also. The three once unified forces
were now fighting amongst each other for power and causing civil wars. Most of Angola s of rough
diamonds were in areas controlled by UNITA, which made it difficult for the MPLA to tap the rough
diamonds as an economic resource. UNITA on the other hand, saw this as a benefit to sell the illicit
diamonds on the black market. This non government organization took over the production and sales
of Angola s rough diamonds to fund their

World War 1 Essay
In today s digital age, development of new technology and weapons are at an alarming rate, hence
arises the need to stay ahead of advancements in order to properly defend the nation, as well as
coalition forces and allies. In this period of warfare, the number one threat comes in the form of air
breathing and ballistic missiles. During World War II, this threat was present, but was not thought to
be prevalent. Following World War I, and into the beginning of World War II, the United States of
America was still recuperating from the first war, and therefore did not engage. The focus was

Unfortunately, the officer on duty ignored the warning. Had he not, the attack on Pearl Harbor could
have been less severe, if not countered completely. In addition, the task of almost the entirety of the air
defense of Pearl Harbor fell upon the United States Navy and the United States Air Corp, despite the
16th Coast Artillery Regiment having eighty two 3 inch anti aircraft guns, twenty 37 mm anti aircraft

P 40 pursuit planes were the main deterrent to enemy aircraft, unfortunately, this was the target of the
Japanese Naval Fleet (Anti aircraft). At the end of the attack, only a few P 36 s were able to escape the
barrage of bullets and bombs, and managed to destroy ten of the Japanese Zero s, while the 16th Coast

Essay on New Albany Shale
Illinois Basin Structure
The Illinois Basin lies across Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky, and it has a oval like structural
depression in southeastern Illinois. The Illinois Basin is classified as an intracratonic basin (Bois and
Pelet 1982). The Illinois Basin began as a rift complex which eventually failed, the New Madrid fault
is associated with this rifting (Hasenmueller and Comer 1994). The depositional thickness of the New
Albany Shale was strongly affected by the regional down warping in southeastern Illinois (Lineback
1980). The Illinois basin is separated from the Michigan basin by the Kankakee arch, which is located
primarily in Indiana (Nelson 1995). To the South East lies the Cincinnati arch (Nelson 1995). In

this can be seen by the thinning across the structure while there is no thinning on older strata

Family guy, a bad influence on children?
Family guy is a dysfunctional family that lives in Quahog, Rhode Island. The parents: Peter and Lois.
The children: the oldest, Meg, the middle child, Chris and the baby is Stewie. Last but not least, the
dog Brian. This TV show exhibits crude, adult humour. There are many different opinions on this
show, many parents are ok with letting there children watch it and other refuse to do so because of the
kind of humour some parents are on edge. So is family guy a negative influence on children? I believe
it does have a negative influence on kids. To start the language they use, secondly the violence and

This is just a tiny bit of what happens in the show. This show is very negative on children and they
way they will interact with other in public. They also make fun of amputees, this can be very harmful
to the way children interact with other kids that have this kind of problem example Joe is Peter
Griffins neighbour and there is an episode that says no legs no service.
Also, this show is a very sexist show, they always make reference to women being in the kitchen and
that is all they re good at for example, in one episode peter tells Louis that making sandwiches and
babies are the only thing she is good for. This kind of behaviour shows to young children that women
are no good for anything because that is how the men on this show treat the women. There s also lots
of coarse language towards women, for example Quagmire a neighbours always has many women
over to his house for pleasurable reasons and you hear him call them names like whores, bitches, sluts
and more this foul language towards women is another bad influence. Also peter has a teenage
daughter Meg, everyone in the show is mean to her. This girl is treated very badly for example in an
episode she had sexual intercourse with a guy and a little after that the guy Brandon, broke up with
her, in another episode she has another boyfriend Luke and Louis, her mother stole

Analysis Of I Just Wanna Be Average By Mike Rose
We go to school day after day and see the same things happening. We never have the time to question
these things or to even stop and take a second to wonder, is this the right way to handle this or is this
what I am supposed to be doing with my life. From the moment we walk through those school doors
until we leave at the end of the day there is nothing but competition. There are many different kinds of
competition, whether it is in a sport for school or for who has the best academic scores. A second in
the day does not go by where there are not two students competing for the winning spot. In Mike

Many people believe that we need to have our children competing to be the best of the best when they
are young. Therefore, giving them a head start on a great future. In Rose he says, Students will float to
the mark you set. (Rose 154) This means that if we set the mark at college, there are kids that will
compete to be the best out of their class and will strive to become the most successful. Although we do
not realize this, but by setting that mark it is giving the slackers something to aim for even though they
never seem to compete for anything. This means that by having an environment that is willing to push
even the slackers in school shows that they to can have something to compete for in the future. The
environment of students plays an important role in helping students compete to become better. We
tend to see better scores from students in private schools rather than students in public schools, this is
because students are pushed harder in private schools and are competing to be the best because they
know that if they start to fall behind they will be left in the dust. These students become the slackers.
Problems start to form when the parents of the slackers start to shelter them and say that competing is
not that important. Young adults are smart and they see this as an opportunity to use their parents.
When reading Katherine S. Newman, The Accordion Family: Boomerang Kids, Anxious Parents, and
the Private Toll of Global Competition we find it interesting when she brings up the topic on how
Adult children are migrating home or refraining from leaving in the first place, and there they stay for
many years longer. (Newman 91) With this being said we can right away notice that there is no
motivation to become better or to even compete in the work for to be able to be living on their

For Many People (Both Male And Female), The Whole Idea
For many people (both male and female), the whole idea of menstruation is icky , yet this is a subject
that female clients (who are of reproductive age) should be asked about, whether they are in a
committed sexual relationship or not. Why? When girls get close to puberty, the endocrine system
activates hormones that begin to make changes in the body. Hormones, on the most basic level,
stimulate growth and the development of the reproductive system in both male and females. In
females, breasts develop, hair grows under the arms and pubic area and menstruation begins (King
Regan, 2014). Once ovulation and menstruation starts the female can become pregnant. Inquiring

In the event a woman has started her menstrual cycle and has had sexual intercourse, some of these
questions may be warranted if her period has suddenly ceased. Consequently, unusual physical,
emotional or other sudden changes may also be important to note. It is also a good teaching
opportunity for those who may not be as knowledgeable about sexually transmitted infections,
pregnancy, birth control, female anatomy and physiology or other issues they may want to discuss.
Should the subject be raised with male clients who are in a sexual relationship? Why or why not?
This question does not have an exact yes or no answer in my opinion. If a male client comes to a
counselor and wishes to discuss their sexual relationship then I would say yes. Once again, as most of
us noted in the sexuality quiz, we do not automatically or naturally have all the knowledge
surrounding the multitude of topics about human sexuality. I feel we should make our clients as
relaxed as possible discussing these subjects and be willing to listen and discuss with empathy. Males
may not know or understand premenstrual syndrome or its symptoms. Consequently, it may help them
to comprehend the implications that affect both he and his partner. If any of these issues are not
relevant or the male does not seem open to discussing them, then I do not feel the subject should be
raised. If the female is also a client, the counselor can not breach confidentiality to discuss her issues
with her partner.

The Arduous Journey Of Discovering Antonio s Destiny
I decided that The Arduous Journey to Discovering Antonio s Destiny is a decent, exceptional title for
my paper, because it gives a brief description on what my paper will be about, Antonio s expedition on
finding his destiny.
1 ½ ) When reading over the assignment rubric, I noticed a few errors. One being in question number
1, where it says, How are Samuel, Antonio, and Cico different? . Instead of saying are you would say
is. Is is singular while are is plural, and since it s talking about each individual, it would make it
singular. 2) Antonio and Cico just saw a golden carp, which is a pagan god according to Samuel.
Witnessing it strongly impacted Antonio, since actually seeing it was as splendid and impressive as the
Catholic God. Previously observing Ultima s magic and just the thought of the carp really shows to
Tony that there is more to life than what he s been taught from church and his mother. After
confronting the carp, Antonio realizes that Ultima was able to do things his Catholic god couldn t,
revealing that he would never be fulfilled by his Catholic faith. His friends Samuel and Cico are all
different from each other. Antonio is a Catholic, Samuel tells Antonio about the carp, and Cico
believes in many gods, like the golden carp, and shows it Antonio.

Essay on Prions the Proteinacious Killer
Proteinacious Killer
Abstract:
Prions are proteins (PrP) that usually reside in the brain. There are two different forms of prions:
normal PrPC and the pathological isoform, PrPSc. The two forms are chemically similar but shaped,
or folded differently. PrPC occurs naturally in most mammals but PrPSc seems to bring with it various
diseases, or spongiform encephalopathies. Various forms of these diseases have been found in many
animal species, including humans. The actual means by which PrPSc propagates itself remains
unknown but scientists believe the modified protein alters the normal protein molecules. The diseases
may be contracted in a variety of ways. They may be genetically inherited, acquired by contamination,
or occur ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Familial CJD (which is inherited) accounts for about 10 15% of all CJD cases (Ridley, 3). Other
human prion diseases occur only when genetically determined. Gerstmann Sträussler Scheinker
syndrome (GSS) is one such inherited disease, as is Fatal Familial Insomnia (FFI). Atypical prion
disease is also genetically inherited, though it does not easily fit the various diagnostic criteria for
prion disease (Ridley, 3). Another human prion disease is Kuru, which has been referred to as the
laughing death (Prusiner). It was an acquired disease (i.e., contracted through contamination) found in
the Fore Highlanders of Papua New Guinea. The disease was likely spread by cannibalism, as the Fore
honored their dead by eating their brains. However, as this particular ritual stopped, Kuru virtually
disappeared (Prusiner).
The Animal Diseases:
Prion diseases are widespread in other animals as well (prionSP). Scrapie, for example, is a rare
endemic brain disease that occurs in sheep and goats. Transmissible mink encephalopathy (TME),
Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, more commonly referred to as mad cow disease ), Feline
spongiform encephalopathy (FSE), and spongiform encephalopathy in other species are all believed to
be caused by ingesting material contaminated with scrapie and/or BSE. The cause of Chronic wasting

Figurative Language In Brown Eyed Girl By Van Morrison
The song Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison is about a man who is in love with a brown eyed girl. The

Tuesday goes by so slow but he asks where it went as if it flew by. Then, a metaphor is used in the

Since Madame Ratignolle and Edna are classified under the same group of women, Madame

Mrs. Pontillier s life ending decision. Adele, pressing her cheek, whispered in an exhausted voice:
Think of the children, Edna. Oh think of the children! Remember them! (pg. 182) This declaration that
Madame Ratignolle makes as Edna is leaving aids her in thinking about the children and what they
deserved as well as what she deserved. In The Awakening Robert and Mademoiselle Reisz are the first
people who truly extract Edna s sexuality and independence. Rather than socialize with all the men in
the Creole Society Robert chooses to spend his time with Mrs. Pontillier and Madame Ratignolle.
Many people, including Madame Ratignolle, could see the sensual tension between Robert and Edna.

free spirit and open mind. He helps teach her how to swim and shows the affection and support that
she has been looking for. Robert is able to extract Edna s rebellious because she falls in love with him.

Social Security s Optimal Solution
Social Security s Optimal Solution At the forefront of many political and economic debates is social
security s insolvency. The number of social security beneficiaries compared to the number of workers
is expected to rise 10% over the next 20 years (National Academy of Social Insurance). Specifically,
solutions on how to find funding for the program from current workers are being discussed. Concerns
about funding social security are not unknown. The unknown is how, if at all, social security can
continue to remain solvent. While economists have proposed many reforms, funding social security

An asset tax counteracts the declining income in the latter years of workers careers by converting the
funding mechanism of social security into a quasi progressive tax, generating more redistribution for
the social security retirement program. Financially, as citizens can afford to fund their retirement, they
would be taxed higher. Redistributing their surplus of assets to low net worth individuals who are
unable to fund their retirement. Wealth redistribution would ensure more individuals have sufficient
income for retirement. Currently, only the bottom quintile of income earners in the United States are
purely dependent on social security, leaving the top four quintiles with a surplus of assets at death
(Weinzierl 146). An asset tax would take a portion of that surplus, which would otherwise go unused,
from the top four quintiles and redistribute that to the bottom quintile. A payroll tax fails to have this
effect because of its exclusive approach to an individual s income. A more holistic and effective
approach is to tax an individual s total assets. Taxing assets will consider the whole value of what an
individual has to spend in retirement. Considering all of a person s assets when redistributing
retirement money to the bottom quintile of income earners, whereas a payroll tax only redistributes

The And Of The Forest
In investigation 1, the data points are very clustered from the height of 150cm to the height of 300cm.
This makes sense as saplings are defined as young trees that are taller than 1.35m above the forest
floor. So between 150cm and 300cm is most likely average height which would be the majority of the
population. The overall data set of investigation 1 is alot more spread out than the compact data set of
investigation 2. On the other hand, in investigation 2 all the data points are overlapping and in line
with the regression line, up to a height of 600cm where there is few data points, indicating that the
majority of saplings taken in this sample are young and planted for regeneration of the forest purposes.
In both cases there is a positive relationship between the two sets of variables. In investigation one, as
H of a sapling increases, the DBH tends to increase. This would make sense because as the sapling
grows up, it subsequently grows in diameter because it manufactures new cells around its
circumference which increase the diameter at breast height in order to maintain and support the weight
of the growing height. On the graph there appears to be some unusal feature s where the height of the
Sapling is approx 450cm however the DBH of just below 10cm is alot lower than the other saplings of
the sample population that have a height of 450cm. It is possible that some sapling trees, like this one,
are alot thinner and taller. This could be caused by a mutation. However

Othello s Jealousy By William Shakespeare Essay
Othello s Jealousy
Jealousy. It is an emotion that we have all felt you know that sharp pang in your chest when you start
to feel insecurity or concern towards your significant other. In William Shakespeare s Othello, Othello
has a deep uncanny love for Desdemona that you would think that it could not be swayed or
destroyed. Ironically enough, Iago stirs his pot of lies and insinuates that Desdemona is being
unfaithful and is cheating on him with lieutenant Cassio, which causes Othello to become irrational
and fulfill an action only a man who is full of rage and envy would sought out to do to his own wife.
A psychologist assistant of psychology at the University of Maryland; Dr. White explains that jealousy
is not merely simple to explain, but it is a complex of thoughts, emotions, and action which follows
threats to the relationship, when those threats are generated by the perception of a real or potential
attraction between one s partner and a (perhaps imaginary) rival. Dr. White also stated that the
problem isn t just correlated with jealousy per se, but how a person responds to it. Dr. White tested
whether or not jealousy could be triggering factor when a person has low self esteem, feelings of
inadequacy and the view on sex roles. Dr. White reported that rationally enough, that a prediction that

The Theory Of Folk Psychology
Eliminative materialism (eliminativism) is an ontologically radical approach that claims that a
matured cognitive science will show that mental states that common sense takes for granted, such as
beliefs, do not exist (or do not have referents). Instead, it claims that these mental entities are
theoretical terms for the false theory of folk psychology (common sense psychology), which can be
defined as the cognitive ability to explain and predict the behaviour and mental state of other people.
In essence, the theory aims to discredit folk psychology by claiming that people will discover that
there is no neural basis to mental entities and thus, they are non existent. I shall argue that there are
significant fundamental flaws to both the arguments for eliminativism about propositional attitudes
and eliminativism about qualia (subjective experience). For the former, I will argue that the
eliminative materialist s theory theory is flawed and show that propositions alone can discredit the
position on philosophy of mind. This will lead to identifying the position as self refuting. Furthermore,
I will show that science itself has proven simulation theory to be true so that I can discredit
eliminative materialism. For the latter, I will argue that qualia exist due to introspection. Combined,
the deconstruction of eliminative materialism with regards to propositional attitude and qualia will
show that the materialist position is flawed and should not be agreed with.

  • 2. George Armstrong Custer s Death In The Battle Of Little... The Battle of Little Bighorn, also known as the Battle of Greasy Grass, was not a significant battle when comparing death count, but it was a big turning point in the course of American History. George Custer was a widely respected military leader who had rarely lost a battle up until that point. It was a shock to the white population that an Indian tribe had that much power and could beat such a powerful army with such advanced military tactics. George Armstrong Custer s arrogance and the already tense relations with the Sioux Indians were the main factors that ultimately contributed to his death in the Battle of Little Bighorn. George Armstrong Custer was born in Ohio on December 5, 1839. He entered the military academy at West Point in 1857. He was not strong academically, but he showed strong leadership qualities at an early age. Custer got into the militaristic mindset early in life. He entered the American Civil War fresh out of West Point and became quite famous as a member of a generation of boy generals known for their aggressiveness. He reported to the 2nd US Cavalry as 2nd Lieutenant in the battle of the First Bull Run. Custer briefly served on the staff of Brigadier General Philip ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instrumental in the U.S. Army s defeats at Rosebud and the Little Bighorn, he fought to the last to hold native land for his people. Crazy Horse was very much respected by his people. The Sioux Indians were a people of war and he was able to give them a sense of independence and show them that they deserved it. He was able to give his people the motivation they needed to fight for their freedom. And then the dental officials applied sealant to the molars of those students who had high potential of developing carries. Although students were identified and informed of the dental care they needed, just 29% of students in 2003 were willing to receive sealants. In 2004, just 26% of the students were willing to receive sealants resulting in 52% of students having tooth decay. Motherless Princesses In Disney Films Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Jasmine from Aladdin, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and even Elsa and Anna from Frozen all have one thing in common: They are motherless. This presentation will explore Disney s motherless princesses and how women are represented in the films. Not only are the mothers absent but when there is a mother figure in place she is cruel and evil. To understand exactly why this is so prevalent in many Disney films, this work will build upon the works of Ann Hall and Mardia Bishop, Marjorie Worthington, and Lynda Haas. In conjunction with other drugs, L Dopa inhibits the enzymes that break down L dopa in the liver, thus making a greater part of it available to the brain (5). These earthquakes can be very mild, barely registering or they can be horrific with far reaching consequences. Scientists have become fascinated with the study of earthquakes for centuries but it is only in recent years that quantified data has been collected and analyzed by scientists regarding these geologic phenomena. Before the invention of the Richter scale, less accurate means of measuring an earthquake s intensity were used by geological scientists. Until the early 1900s, earthquakes could only be measured after the earthquake had ended and then only approximations could be made. The first attempt at scientifically measuring an earthquake s intensity was performed in the middle of the nineteenth century. In Italy in 1857, the after effects of an earthquake were quantified (Lutgen 2011, page 179). A map was created to show the comparable damages that were found in different areas. This allowed geographers to make maps which would show the areas of highest intensity and how intensity lessened in surrounding areas. Although this was helpful, it only showed comparative intensities, not quantified data. In 1902, Giuseppe Mercalli developed what was called the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale. Then when slaves were free the Statue of Liberty s broken shackles at the bottom represented their new opportunities when it actually was supposed to be freedom from monarchical governments. When immigrants began arriving through Ellis island it soon became a symbol of new beginnings and Liberty. People developed governments in order to guarantee that structure and stability are present within the region. While there are various forms of government, some are more effective than others. Yet the effectiveness of that form of government is mostly dictated by the time period it is being used in. Even though democracy is widely regarded as the best form of government in the 21st century, the same cannot be said for the 17th and 18th centuries. World War 1 Essay In today s digital age, development of new technology and weapons are at an alarming rate, hence arises the need to stay ahead of advancements in order to properly defend the nation, as well as coalition forces and allies. In this period of warfare, the number one threat comes in the form of air breathing and ballistic missiles. During World War II, this threat was present, but was not thought to be prevalent. Following World War I, and into the beginning of World War II, the United States of America was still recuperating from the first war, and therefore did not engage. At the end of the attack, only a few P 36 s were able to escape the barrage of bullets and bombs, and managed to destroy ten of the Japanese Zero s, while the 16th Coast Artillery Regiment brought down six. Ironically, four years prior, in June of 1937, the United States War Department began drafting a plan to increase the continental anti aircraft artillery due to rising tensions with Japan, yet was not approved until late 1940. The plan called for increasing the number of 3 inch guns from 135 to 472, as well as increasing the number of regiments to 80, which would account for roughly 4,000,000 service men, solely for the defense of the continental United States. The Illinois Basin is classified as an intracratonic basin (Bois and Pelet 1982). The Illinois Basin began as a rift complex which eventually failed, the New Madrid fault is associated with this rifting (Hasenmueller and Comer 1994). The depositional thickness of the New Albany Shale was strongly affected by the regional down warping in southeastern Illinois (Lineback 1980). We never have the time to question these things or to even stop and take a second to wonder, is this the right way to handle this or is this what I am supposed to be doing with my life. From the moment we walk through those school doors until we leave at the end of the day there is nothing but competition. There are many different kinds of competition, whether it is in a sport for school or for who has the best academic scores. Many people believe that we need to have our children competing to be the best of the best when they are young. Therefore, giving them a head start on a great future. In Rose he says, Students will float to the mark you set. (Rose 154) This means that if we set the mark at college, there are kids that will compete to be the best out of their class and will strive to become the most successful. Although we do not realize this, but by setting that mark it is giving the slackers something to aim for even though they never seem to compete for anything. This means that by having an environment that is willing to push even the slackers in school shows that they to can have something to compete for in the future. The environment of students plays an important role in helping students compete to become better. We tend to see better scores from students in private schools rather than students in public schools, this is because students are pushed harder in private schools and are competing to be the best because they know that if they start to fall behind they will be left in the dust. These students become the slackers. Problems start to form when the parents of the slackers start to shelter them and say that competing is not that important. Young adults are smart and they see this as an opportunity to use their parents. When reading Katherine S. Newman, The Accordion Family: Boomerang Kids, Anxious Parents, and the Private Toll of Global Competition we find it interesting when she brings up the topic on how Adult children are migrating home or refraining from leaving in the first place, and there they stay for many years longer. (Newman 91) With this being said we can right away notice that there is no motivation to become better or to even compete in the work for to be able to be living on their ... For Many People (Both Male And Female), The Whole Idea For many people (both male and female), the whole idea of menstruation is icky , yet this is a subject that female clients (who are of reproductive age) should be asked about, whether they are in a committed sexual relationship or not. Why? When girls get close to puberty, the endocrine system activates hormones that begin to make changes in the body. Hormones, on the most basic level, stimulate growth and the development of the reproductive system in both male and females. In females, breasts develop, hair grows under the arms and pubic area and menstruation begins (King Regan, 2014). Once ovulation and menstruation starts the female can become pregnant. Should the subject be raised with male clients who are in a sexual relationship? Why or why not? This question does not have an exact yes or no answer in my opinion. If a male client comes to a counselor and wishes to discuss their sexual relationship then I would say yes. Once again, as most of us noted in the sexuality quiz, we do not automatically or naturally have all the knowledge surrounding the multitude of topics about human sexuality. I feel we should make our clients as relaxed as possible discussing these subjects and be willing to listen and discuss with empathy. Males may not know or understand premenstrual syndrome or its symptoms. Consequently, it may help them to comprehend the implications that affect both he and his partner. If any of these issues are not relevant or the male does not seem open to discussing them, then I do not feel the subject should be raised. If the female is also a client, the counselor can not breach confidentiality to discuss her issues with her partner. Do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One being in question number 1, where it says, How are Samuel, Antonio, and Cico different? . Instead of saying are you would say is. Is is singular while are is plural, and since it s talking about each individual, it would make it singular. 2) Antonio and Cico just saw a golden carp, which is a pagan god according to Samuel. Previously observing Ultima s magic and just the thought of the carp really shows to Tony that there is more to life than what he s been taught from church and his mother. After confronting the carp, Antonio realizes that Ultima was able to do things his Catholic god couldn t, revealing that he would never be fulfilled by his Catholic faith. There are two different forms of prions: normal PrPC and the pathological isoform, PrPSc. The two forms are chemically similar but shaped, or folded differently. PrPC occurs naturally in most mammals but PrPSc seems to bring with it various diseases, or spongiform encephalopathies. Various forms of these diseases have been found in many animal species, including humans. The actual means by which PrPSc propagates itself remains unknown but scientists believe the modified protein alters the normal protein molecules. The diseases may be contracted in a variety of ways. Familial CJD (which is inherited) accounts for about 10 15% of all CJD cases (Ridley, 3). Other human prion diseases occur only when genetically determined. Gerstmann Sträussler Scheinker syndrome (GSS) is one such inherited disease, as is Fatal Familial Insomnia (FFI). Atypical prion disease is also genetically inherited, though it does not easily fit the various diagnostic criteria for prion disease (Ridley, 3). Another human prion disease is Kuru, which has been referred to as the laughing death (Prusiner). It was an acquired disease (i.e., contracted through contamination) found in the Fore Highlanders of Papua New Guinea. The disease was likely spread by cannibalism, as the Fore honored their dead by eating their brains. However, as this particular ritual stopped, Kuru virtually disappeared (Prusiner). The Animal Diseases: Prion diseases are widespread in other animals as well (prionSP). Scrapie, for example, is a rare endemic brain disease that occurs in sheep and goats. Transmissible mink encephalopathy (TME), Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, more commonly referred to as mad cow disease ), Feline spongiform encephalopathy (FSE), and spongiform encephalopathy in other species are all believed to be caused by ingesting material contaminated with scrapie and/or BSE. An asset tax counteracts the declining income in the latter years of workers careers by converting the funding mechanism of social security into a quasi progressive tax, generating more redistribution for the social security retirement program. Financially, as citizens can afford to fund their retirement, they would be taxed higher. Redistributing their surplus of assets to low net worth individuals who are unable to fund their retirement. Wealth redistribution would ensure more individuals have sufficient income for retirement. Currently, only the bottom quintile of income earners in the United States are purely dependent on social security, leaving the top four quintiles with a surplus of assets at death (Weinzierl 146). An asset tax would take a portion of that surplus, which would otherwise go unused, from the top four quintiles and redistribute that to the bottom quintile. A payroll tax fails to have this effect because of its exclusive approach to an individual s income. A more holistic and effective approach is to tax an individual s total assets. Taxing assets will consider the whole value of what an individual has to spend in retirement. So between 150cm and 300cm is most likely average height which would be the majority of the population. The overall data set of investigation 1 is alot more spread out than the compact data set of investigation 2. On the other hand, in investigation 2 all the data points are overlapping and in line with the regression line, up to a height of 600cm where there is few data points, indicating that the majority of saplings taken in this sample are young and planted for regeneration of the forest purposes. In both cases there is a positive relationship between the two sets of variables. In investigation one, as H of a sapling increases, the DBH tends to increase. This would make sense because as the sapling grows up, it subsequently grows in diameter because it manufactures new cells around its circumference which increase the diameter at breast height in order to maintain and support the weight of the growing height. On the graph there appears to be some unusal feature s where the height of the Sapling is approx 450cm however the DBH of just below 10cm is alot lower than the other saplings of the sample population that have a height of 450cm. It is an emotion that we have all felt you know that sharp pang in your chest when you start to feel insecurity or concern towards your significant other. In William Shakespeare s Othello, Othello has a deep uncanny love for Desdemona that you would think that it could not be swayed or destroyed. Ironically enough, Iago stirs his pot of lies and insinuates that Desdemona is being unfaithful and is cheating on him with lieutenant Cassio, which causes Othello to become irrational and fulfill an action only a man who is full of rage and envy would sought out to do to his own wife. A psychologist assistant of psychology at the University of Maryland; Dr. White explains that jealousy is not merely simple to explain, but it is a complex of thoughts, emotions, and action which follows threats to the relationship, when those threats are generated by the perception of a real or potential attraction between one s partner and a (perhaps imaginary) rival. Dr. White also stated that the problem isn t just correlated with jealousy per se, but how a person responds to it. The Theory Of Folk Psychology Eliminative materialism (eliminativism) is an ontologically radical approach that claims that a matured cognitive science will show that mental states that common sense takes for granted, such as beliefs, do not exist (or do not have referents). Instead, it claims that these mental entities are theoretical terms for the false theory of folk psychology (common sense psychology), which can be defined as the cognitive ability to explain and predict the behaviour and mental state of other people. In essence, the theory aims to discredit folk psychology by claiming that people will discover that there is no neural basis to mental entities and thus, they are non existent. I shall argue that there are significant fundamental flaws to both the arguments for eliminativism about propositional attitudes and eliminativism about qualia (subjective experience). For the former, I will argue that the eliminative materialist s theory theory is flawed and show that propositions alone can discredit the position on philosophy of mind. This will lead to identifying the position as self refuting. Furthermore, I will show that science itself has proven simulation theory to be true so that I can discredit eliminative materialism. For the latter, I will argue that qualia exist due to introspection. Combined, the deconstruction of eliminative materialism with regards to propositional attitude and qualia will show that the materialist position is flawed and should not be agreed with.
