Disadvantages Of Amalgam
Amalgam. What is amalgam you might ask? Amalgam is used in dental and is a filling that is used for
a cavity that has had decay. Amalgam is a Material that is placed in a tooth that has had a cavity
removed and Amalgam replaces the cavity so that it helps the tooth structure stay intact. There have
been a lot of different types of fillings that have been used in the world today and we are going to go
in depth with what people used before amalgam and when it was discovered, why it is good to use an
amalgam filling or why it is not and lastly how the world today benefits and views amalgam.
Amalgam Capsule
Before amalgam was ever invented people would use beeswax and metals such as gold, tin and silver
to restore their teeth. In 1819 Amalgam was invented by Bell an English chemist. In England and
France was the first time amalgam was used and this happened in the 1826. Soon after that Amalgam
was used in the United States in 1830. Once Amalgam was used in the US there became a lot of
controversy towards amalgam. The controversy that broke out was about the mercury that was in
amalgam and how harmful it can be to a person s body. So in 1840 the ASDS (American Society of
Dental Surgeons) all came together to go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Violations In Japanese Internment Camps
Two months after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Executive
Order 9066. This forced all Japanese Americans, regardless of loyalty or citizenship to evacuate to the
West Coast. The relocation of Japanese Americans into internment camps during World War II was
one of the most flagrant violations of civil liberties in American history. December 7, 1941, the day
after the Japanese attacked, the US government and the FBI began to follow community leaders with
strong Japanese ties. As American citizens, Issei and Nisei had enjoyed the rights of any US citizen;
now their own government imposed strict curfews on them and raided their homes for contraband or
anything that showed special connection to their former homeland ( Japanese American Relocation ).
They suspected and wanted to be sure that no Japanese Americans were spies and was sending
information to anyone from their homeland, but by doing so they striped them of their American rights
that all Americans have but the Japanese Americans. The United States was scared of Japanese
Americans, the U.S. thought that they might have connections to the enemy. ... Show more content on

The camps were animal stalls and other places not meant for living. These camps killed people all the
while they thought they were protecting their citizens when in fact they were killing them. This is still
seen as the most flagrant violations of civil liberties today. Regardless of loyalty and citizenship, they
were forced out of the place they called their homes and anything that were theirs were taken to later
be found destroyed and vandalized. All of these thing happened because of fear instead of finding a
reasonable way of dealing with the situation. Another factor of the relocation was their dislike of
immigrants, they were surrounded by barbed wire and nothing but what they could of carried to call

Influence Of Modern Literature On The Representation Of...
The advent of the modern era ushered in a great demand imagist works and garnered a lot of
popularity, especially in connection to literature. War and all atrocities associated with it were
important focal points for creators of imagist literature and reality had become a very important aspect
to create an impact on the patrons of such literature. In this paper, a parallel will be drawn between
films and poems to show the transition in the representation of war in literature from anti war and
victorian sentiments to realistic depiction of war. In order to do so, I will make references to poems
and films pertaining to the First World War and show the change in representation of the First World
War between 1914 1917 and also post 1917. Influence of Modern poetry in representation of war was
seen in 1914 and the following years very prominently. Until then, most poets would focus on themes
like patriotism, loyalty, honor, love and other positive ideal concepts. It took the occurrence of a world
war for poets to begin looking at war for the horror that it was and letting its reality set in. A very
prominent example of this is Channel Firing by Thomas Hardy. The verses of the poem are as follows,
That night your great guns, unawares,
Shook all our coffins as we lay,
And broke the chancel window squares,
We thought it was the Judgment day
This poem was written by Hardy just after the War had begun. It

Observation Of Students At A Seventh Grade Math Classroom
Observation of Student While observing the students in my classroom, I focused on how engaging and
motivated they were. The eighth graders at Pine Forest did not have a good seventh grade math
teacher, so the students are very behind. They know that they are behind because Mrs. McLamb tells
them all the time. Instead of it discouraging them, it motivated the students to want to learn. They
know that they must catch up, so I saw the students trying their best to stay focused and be engaged. I
noticed while observing that a majority of the class was engaged. I honestly was not expecting this in
a math class at 7:30 in the morning. The first day I got there, one student said they had the best math
scores in the entire county. So, Mrs. McLamb pulled the up the previous test scores and showed them
they were third. I could tell the kids did not want to be third and wanted to be first. They found a
reason to learn, and I think that is very important. I did notice that students were not taking notes. I
found this odd because it was obvious that they wanted to learn but they never took any notes. One of
my days of observing, I got to observe a seventh grade math classroom. I was curious to see what the
seventh grades are learning to ensure that they are not behind like the current eighth graders. The
teacher was making sure the students learned what they need to know to be ready for eighth grade.
The class I observed was a group of AIG students. Like the eighth grade students,

The First Flight
The First Flight Douglas came home to a surprise. Hello dear, look! , his mother was in the middle of
the room holding an envelope. Douglas had a pretty good idea of what it was, so he rushed over in a
panic and grabbed the envelope. He was hesitant on opening it, a slight feeling of fear and excitement
ran through his veins. Douglas finally worked up the courage and there it was, he read the words,
ACCEPTED. He was so excited he nearly jumped out of his shoes! He danced around the room then
went into the kitchen and grabbed his mother so she could dance too. Ever since Douglas was a boy,
his dream was to go to Dayton University and become a journalist. He was leaving in three months to
go to the University, barely enough time to say goodbye, he thought. His current occupation was the
ice cream store on 23rd South Williams Street, a block away from the Wright Cycle Company. He new
the Wright Brothers and had a few encounters with them. The first was when Orville and Wilbur were
arguing over a bike and then got some ice cream to calm the conflict. Douglas actually got his current
mode of transportation from the wright brothers, considering that the money he makes from selling ice
cream won t get him a car. The bike was lovely, but will no longer be needed when he goes off to
college. The money he had saved up all his life was now being used for college, so he hopes that this
journaling career takes off;) When the time came,

The Evolution Of Hester s Suffering And The Forgiveness...
The Evolution of Hester s Suffering and the Forgiveness of Society
In The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester Prynne is forced to wear a scarlet A on her
chest, because of the sin, adultery, she committed. This letter separates Hester from the rest of the
Puritans in the town, and causes her much loneliness and suffering. In the beginning of the book, the
Puritans are disgusted by Hester, and shun her. As the book goes on, however, the townspeople slowly
begin to let Hester into society, and use her as an example of how suffering and good deeds can lead to
salvation. Hester s view of herself does not change, and it shows that society is not the only source of
her suffering. Hester s suffering and lack of suffering from the town reflect on the nature of the
Puritans, and reveal how even the strictest of societies can show compassion in certain circumstances.
By being forced to wear the scarlet letter in the beginning of the book, Hester becomes separated from
the rest of society, and is now suffering because of it. In the beginning of The Scarlet Letter, Hester is
made an example of what happens if one is to sin. The scarlet setter that Hester wears is used as a
reminder of what happens when one commits a sin. As soon as Hester puts on the scarlet letter, she is
separated from the rest of society. The scarlet letter had the effect of a spell, taking her out of the
ordinary relations with humanity, and inclosing her in a sphere by herself (51). This

Character Strength in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich is a novel about survival.
Solzhenitsyn shows us how even in seemingly atrocious circumstances each person can find sources
of strength that gives them the will to carry on. Many of the things that the prisoners think of as their
sources of strengths would mean nothing to us, but if one thinks about it, without them we would
perhaps lose the will to carry on.
Most of the prisoners have more than one source of strength, perhaps subconsciously they have made
their own fail safes. If they lost one source, they would have other more personal reasons to carry on.
The two main factors of strength that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He studies the New Testament and he uses literature to cut out the outside world. Shukhov does not
seem like a religious man, but as one goes further into the novel, one begins to see him taking a bigger
interest in religion, and more importantly, faith. Alyosha tries to show Shukhov that faith is the
strongest source of strength, and he tells Shukhov to try to see the importance of spiritual goods rather
than material goods. However, objects have a lot of importance to all of the prisoners. Aloysha hides
his New Testament to avoid it being confiscated just Shukhov hides his bread. This shows us that the
Bible is as important to Alyosha as bread is to Shukhov. At the end of the novel Shukhov gives away a
biscuit to Alyosha and expects nothing in return. This shows that he has taken Alyosha s advice and
has chosen to feel spiritual accomplishment rather than keeping the material good. Property is another
source of strength in the novel. Possessing something that other prisoners do not have is a way of
showing individuality in a place where all the prisoners are marked as the same, ignoring what they
have or have not done. Shukhov s spoon is also very symbolic. Shukhov is forced to hide the spoon in
order to keep it from being taken by the guards. In a way this shows us how the camp tries to take
away anything that gives the prisoners a sense of individuality, or anything that gives them happiness.

Drug Problem In Brazil
Brazil, fifth largest country in the world, with a population of approximately 200 million people, also
has one of the largest disparities between the rich and poor. Profound poverty means family
disintegration due to death by AIDS, substance abuse, violence and breakup become more prevalent
leading to a growing problem. This problem is the number of children who begin to claim the streets
as their home. Life is hard on the streets, where none of the safeguards of the society are in place, and
these young people see little hope of change. As a result, drug and alcohol abuse becomes normalized
in the child street communities and children become at risk for a number of health problems. To
counteract this trend and rehabilitate children, local educational institutions need to be established to
create a safe zone for this children and program to address the risks of drug use and encourage healthy
habits.

Battle of Chattanooga:
Effects of Leadership on Morale,Strategy, and the Tide of Battle
Kayla D. Jones
North Dakota State University
ABSTRACT
This paper displays the impact in battle and on troops of key characteristics that differentiate the
distinction between an effective and ineffective leader. Using the analysis of the Battle of Chattanooga
and various memoirs from General Sherman and Grant, biographies about Grant, and reliable
resources from researchers, such as J.F.C. Fuller, and the Library of Congress, this paper details the
events of the battle and the events that preceded the battle in direct correlation with the leadership
decisions that impacted the outcome of these events. The leaderships being directly compared in this
analysis are that of General William S. Rosecrans and Major General Ulysses S. Grant. For the
purposes of this comparison, these leaderships at Chattanooga are divided into two phases: Phase I
being Rosecrans , and Phase II being Grant s impact at Chattanooga.
Battle of Chattanooga:
Effects of Leadership on Morale, Strategy, and the Tide of Battle
Hold Chattanooga at all hazards, Major General Ulysses S. Grant, 19th October 1863 in a letter to
Major General G.H. Thomas (Simon, 1982). During the Civil War, the state of the Union was divided
and battles were won or lost based on the strategies, flexibility, and decisiveness of leaders. The Battle
of Chattanooga was one such decisive event that greatly impacted the outcome of the

Family Planning
Introduction
Family planning is the planning of when to have children, and the use of birth control and other
techniques to implement such plans. Other techniques commonly used include sexuality education,
prevention and management of sexually transmitted infections, pre conception counseling and
management, and infertility management.
Family planning is sometimes used in the wrong way also as a synonym for the use of birth control,
though it often includes more. It is most usually applied to a female male couple who wish to limit the
number of children they have and/or to control the timing of pregnancy (also known as spacing
children). Family planning may encompass sterilization, as well as abortion.

The Catholic Church teaches the necessity of responsible parenthood and correct family planning (one
child at a time depending on one s circumstances), while at the same time teaching that large families
are a sign of God s blessings. It teaches that modern natural family planning, a method of fertility
awareness, is in accord with God s design, as couples give themselves to each other as they are. The
RH bill intends to help couples to have government funded access to artificial contraception methods
as well.

Genetics and Human Sexuality
Human sexuality plays a major role in everyone s life. Regardless, whether we are young or old, man
or woman, American or Japanese, it is an integral part of what we do and who we are as a human
species. Next to sleeping and eating, it seems that it is one of the most important drives we have to
deal with as humans. That is, it takes up so much of our time in thought and behavior that it
sometimes seems that every facet of our life revolves around this to a certain extent. Human sexual
behavior is different from the sexual behavior of other animals, in that, it seems to be governed by a
variety and interplay of different factors. That is, while lower animals or species are driven by a force

In the second volume of The Variation, written by Charles Darwin, to prove his theory of evolution he
had to explain the notion of natural selection and how genetic variations play a vital role in this
process. Which brings up the second principle of evolution which is that the variations must be passed
on genetically. Numerous identical twin case studies have shown that the hereditary of homosexuality
is not strictly a genetic linkage, because there are many pairs of identical twins who have differing
sexualities. Scientists from the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis say
homosexuality seems to have an epigenetic, not a genetic link. Epigenetic is the study of heritable
changes in gene activity that are not caused by changes in the DNA sequence or genotypes, but rather
phenotypes. Homosexual attraction has been said to be passed along in families, there is no proof of
that, but leading researchers presume a genetic underpinning of sexual preference is lurking. While
genes hold the instructions in the DNA, epi marks direct how those instructions are carried out. The
act of sexual activity among homosexual does not allow genetic traits to pass forth through
reproduction which requires semen

The Importance Of Kinship In Cultural Anthropology
Kingsborough Community College
Importance of Kinship in cultural anthropology
Student: Amulang Mantsynov
Professor: Igor Pashkovskiy
Kinship has traditionally been one of the key topics in social and cultural anthropology. There are two
primary reasons for this. First, although not all communities are constituted on the basis of kinship, all
humans have a kinship as individuals and are related to other individuals through it. Second, for the
sorts of tribal, classless, economically unspecialized societies that anthropologists have mostly though
no longer exclusively studied, kinship has appeared to be the main or even sole form of social
organization. These observations led various theoretical approaches, especially the schools of
functionalism and structuralism within social anthropology, to focusing on how social groups are
formed. They got interested in studying of how individuals are related to one another through kinship,
and what kinds of mutual rights and duties they have as a result. (R. Parkin. Kinship)
Parkin (2012) also points out that unlike the functionalists and structuralists, cultural anthropologists,
elected to focus more greatly on the symbolic rather than socio practical aspects of kinship. They are
interested in the meanings attached to being a particular sort of relative. They also study how symbols
of and perspectives on an individual, the body, and gender tell kinship ideas and practices. In broad
terms, a study of kingship from the symbolic standpoint has prevailed in America since the beginning
of the twentieth century and periodically has been reinvented and by the 1970s become more
influential in world anthropology, especially in its poststructuralist phase. The field of study of a
kinship can be divided into three major categories: descent (that is, relations between generations);
affinity (marriage); and siblingship. However, the siblingship hasn t been studied as widely as the first
two categories. (R. Parkin. Kinship).
By the definition provided in the New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, kinship is a relation between
two or more persons that is based on common ancestry (descent) or marriage (affinity). In his work

El lenguaje crea y reproduce diferentes formas subjetivas de representaciĂłn social. A partir de Freud y

Theme Of Corruption In The Chocolate War
Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power (John Steinbeck). This
quote directly compares to the book, The Chocolate Wars that tells an extraordinary story about a boy,
Jerry Renault who rebells against the dictators of the school, The Vigils and the corrupted staff. Jerry s
rebellion leads him to his doom in an organized fight watched by the school showing the student body
how dangerous power really is. In the book, The Chocolate War, the author, Robert Cormier portrays
the uneasy lesson of how simple it is for power to corrupt people into dangerous, manipulating rulers

villains you read about in books or saw in movies and television? (Cormier, 107). In the first situation
the text undoubtedly shows how in control The Vigils are. The group looks down upon expressing
your opinion and equality of the people. Their leader, Archie Costello, assumes that without their
supreme authority over the school, the school would fall apart, which is false to begin with. The first
quote just shows how dangerous and how easy it is for the wrong person to become powerful. In a
similar fashion, the second quote highlights the unscrupulous staff member, Brother Leon. After Jerry
became aware of Brother Leon s alliance with The Vigils he made the remark comparing teachers to
corrupt villains. Without a doubt, Jerry s comparison directly supports the author s

There are a few characteristics which accompany a mystical experience such as sense of unity or

In everyday life in regular basis we as humans undergo such experiences but we forget them, we feel

persuade the reader into believing his argument, mostly relying upon logos, chiefly facts, to appeal to

of patients with similar underlying conditions by both Canada and the United States. The results of

greater care units than Canada, as well as a higher NME approval rate, why is the life expectancy

desires. He plays on humans yearning for eternal youth and immortality, as well as our fear of death.
Immortality is a common goal of society and Lexchin uses is as a tool to get the reader to listen to his

to immortality, Lexchin uses multiple forms of rhetoric, mostly logos, to sway the readers. He sets our
deep fantasies of someday being able to live forever against our rational minds and backs up his case
with sound logic and viable examples that leave us no doubts about human limitation.

Sexual And Emotional Sentiments During The Indian Law Essay
When a man and a woman, whether married or unmarried decide to live together for long term basis,
have sexual and emotional sentiments for prolonged periods, the relationship is termed as a live in
relationship. Five kinds of live in relationships have been mentioned in the Indra Sarma case, the first
one is the most unambiguous one where an unmarried woman lives with an unmarried man. The
second one involves an unmarried woman and a married man, the third one has a married woman and
an unmarried man, fourthly, where both the partners are married, Then come the relations between the
gays and lesbians. These kinds of relations are however not recognized in the Indian law due to
criminalization of homosexuality as per section 377 of the Indian Penal Code.
People may choose a live in relationship for numerous reasons, to evaluate their compatibility in a

Low Vs High Carbohydrate Essay
Statement of the Problem
A highly debated topic regarding athlete nutrition recently has been the effect of low vs. high
carbohydrate diets on athlete performance. While it is common for many athletes to maintain a diet
high in carbohydrates, alternative diets are quickly becoming more popular (Nogales‐Gadea et al.,
2017). Glycogen is a polysaccharide stored in animal liver and muscle cells that is easily converted to
glucose to meet metabolic energy requirements (glycogen, 2017). High muscle glycogen levels are a
major contributor to increased athlete performance, and researchers have proven on several occasions
that a high carbohydrate is key to achieving these levels (Dunford, 2006). However, the growing
controversy has opened up a new debate on possible alternatives to high carbohydrate diets with the
possibility that these alternatives could provide similar levels of nutrients to endurance athletes. My
research will expand on and explore the current beliefs surrounding these types of diets and will
explore and possibly confirm the belief that a high protein, low carbohydrate diet will be sufficient for
an endurance athlete. In past studies, researchers have examined the different effects that a high vs.
low carbohydrate diet has on the performance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Heroes Speech
When I was a kid, my super hero was Superman, I kind of admired him because I thought it would be
cool to be able to fly and to have super human strength, but the main reason why I liked Superman is
because he helped people, no matter what.
According to Times Magazine, we have become a society that is centered on self, self gratification,
self motivation, self indulgence, and it has been a driving force in developed countries since decades
now; and as a result, we are witnesses to the slow death of the Hero.
Today I want to tell you a little bit about how we define what a hero is , what it takes to be a hero, and
how you and I can help refresh the effects of heroisme.
So lets start with how we define what a heroe is.

My Experience with Math
This course had forced me to analyze the psychological effects one s negative thinking has in
impacting the ability to embrace a situation that originally may be perceived as fear. My first obstacle
with this course was to admit to myself that I had created my own fear of math. I had fully produced
what I now view to be a huge challenge.
The inevitable had finally arrived. I had postponed my taking this math class for close to ten years. I
was now at age 29 sitting in a math class that I had avoided through out my collegial career. So here I
was, struggling from the beginning, prior to a math problem even being placed on the board. I was

Why I Am Against Human Experimentation
I am the opposition and I am against human experimentation.I am against human experimentation
because it harms people.I say this because multiple people have been murdered by these experiments
for over the past 100 years. In the experimentation people have been saved, but the experiment could
have had a sin affect that affected the person. The sin affect could then go extremely wrong, and could
lead that person to death.
The other reason I am against the resolution is that some people do experiments without the person s
authorization. The reason I m saying this is because if you have a family member or a loved one and
they are very sick ,and they have no one with them and they decided to call a doctor for help the
doctor might not answer. If there

Cognitive Theory And Social Work
Cognitive Theory in Social Work
Cognitive Theory claims that behavior can be changed through changing faulty thinking, irrational
thoughts, automatic thoughts, or learned cognitive misconceptions. When a client has negative images
of themselves or their accomplishments, it sets the pace for their behavior, perceptions and
expectations; when that thinking is exposed as faulty to the client, the client can then begin to change
their behavior based upon restructured, truer images of reality. It has been shown to be effective
therapy for individual, group, marital and family treatment, in treating depression, addiction, anxiety,
PTSD, personality disorders, and some organic conditions such as schizophrenia, and in many social
work settings, such as child welfare, private practice, mental health, crisis intervention, and health
care.
History
Until and through the 1960 s, psychotherapy was dominated by Freud s psychoanalysis, with client
centered therapy following at a distant second. Cognitive Theory was first introduced by Alfred Adler,
who originally worked with Freud, but departed from Freud s theory that human behavior was
motivated by id/ego/super ego and sexual drivers, in favor of believing it was driven by their lifestyle
ideas and beliefs about themselves and their world. Although Adler has been referred to as the first
cognitive theorist and therapist, cognitive theory has developed and evolved over time, through the
theories and practices of many other

John Rawls’A Theory of Justice Essay
John Rawls A Theory of Justice holds that rational, mutually disinterested individuals, in the Original
Position and given the task of establishing societal rules to maximise their own happiness throughout
life, are liable to choose as principles of societal justice a) guaranteed fundamental liberties and b) the
nullification of social and economic disparities by universal equality of opportunities, which are to be
of greatest benefit to the least advantaged members of society , . Rawls system of societal cbfgdbre for
the maintenance of fundamental liberties, equality of opportunity and support for the disadvantaged is

It also stimulates competition rational individuals will naturally want more primary goods for
themselves , and will be willing to compete for these. This is vital to a healthy economy because it
prevents stagnating monopolization by individuals.
One weakness in Rawls theory is his assumption that the individual in the Original Position will think
conservatively. Realistically, the individual is supposedly more likely to risk a slightly worse worst
case scenario for a markedly better best case scenario (similar to the large numbers of individuals who
gamble money in hope of winning more) . The individual may choose to dismiss the Difference
Principle in favour of a riskier, but more beneficial principle for example, that the rich get richer .
Rawls argues that the individual will adopt conservatism to ensure that all parties may pursue their
own ends irrespective of (dis)advantages, simply because of their arbitrary placement in society. It
may also be plausibly argued that the gravity of the situations differs, and that when charged with the
creation of a society, one is more likely to act conservatively because the dGBgbGGBecision carries
potentially negative, far reaching ramifications.
It is similarly asserted that Rawls Maximin Principle may eliminate beneficial inequalities . For
example, should the annual income of two people be $100,000 each, this would be a less

The Power Of Music In The Soloist By Steve Lopez
Healing Power of Music
What if each day s goal is to fight inner demons? What if something as simple as music accomplishes
this? In The Soloist, author Steve Lopez introduces the reader to a homeless schizophrenic fighting for
survival on the streets of Los Angeles notorious Skid Row district.
This man is Nathaniel Ayers, a talented musician who struggles with mental illness and depends on the
sound of his instrument for peace. Portrayed through Lopez s friendship with Ayers,
Lopez shows that music in itself has the power to heal or soothe a mind even a mind as troubled as
Mr. Ayers.
Like most schizophrenics, Ayers battles the voices and clouded thoughts plaguing his mind. He relies
on the power of music to escape from the rumbles going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The contrast between Skid Row and the music in his car allows the reader to visualize not only the
emotion Lopez experiences in that moment, but the story of Ayers as a whole. A man who lives at
times in such darkness is able to escape the pain through the sole gift of music.
Lopez admits that, through the power of music, he has been transformed. The man he was before his
friendship with Ayers is completely different then the man he became after. This is depicted at the
Disney concert hall where Lopez says of Nathan: I ve never had a friend who lives in so spiritual a
real as Mr Ayers, and I know that through his courage and humility and faith in the power of art
through his very ability to find happiness and purpose he has awakened something in me. He is one of
the reasons I thought seriously about leaving an industry in the throes of revolution, and he is the
reason I ve decided i ll never be happy doing anything other than telling stories.(284)
Lopez showcases that a homeless man s simple love for music can inspire someone as completely
different as himself. Ayers healing through his passion for his art gives Lopez a deeper respect for the

According to Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense James R. Blaker, military bases are installations
routinely used by military forces that supply their personnel with the means and equipment to respond
to a threat within the land it occupies (The Editors, 2011). As the world s only superpower, the US
possesses more military bases in foreign countries than any other state in the entire world. In the year

To answer this we must look at the stability and political environments that encompass a state because
they play a large role in the ability of other actors to occupy land that it controls. For this reason, the
US should only associate with countries that follow their same beliefs. The US must be cautious as to
what countries that they decide to ally themselves with in order to analyze potential political outcomes
(Lostumbo, Michael J., McNerney, Michael J., Peltz, Eric, 2013). Factors that can play a role can
include a countries economic growth, annual GDP, or if there is ethnic conflict within the territory. If

color. When the men went to battle, they went without shirts or without clothing, entirely. The
warriors would have, then, painted their bodies with intentions that the dye would keep them from

the Celtic Shorthorn. Cattle was a necessity to the Celts for many different reasons. With regards to
cattle, much of the Celts food relied on the animals and crops. Lamb, beef, fish, cheese, butter, milk,
mead, breads and vegetables are some of the foods that would be eaten. Farming was mostly done by
the peasants as they were in charge of the heavy work on the land. In order to protect their land, a

Just a year later, Gorbachev had become the youngest member of the Politburo. The Politburo is the
executive committee for a number of communist political parties. The first ever Politburo was created
by the Bolshevik party in 1917. Gorbachev worked closely under General Secretary Yuri Andropov
watching how he succeeded in the Politburo. When Andropov died, Gorbachev was quick to replace
him for the position that he so closely eyed. Unfortunately Mikhail lost to Konstantin Chernenko,
nevertheless Mikhail wouldn t give up for what he worked so hard for. 13 months later Chernenko
died, opening the doors for Gorbachev to become the General Secretary of the Politburo at the very
young age of 54. He was the only general secretary in the history of the Soviet Union to have been
born during Communist era.
Milestones: Gorbachev had many awards and accolades during his lifetime, but none were as great as
becoming the General Secretary of the Politburo in 1985. Mikhail wouldn t stop at just that, he felt
that the country could be better, be greater than what it was at the current moment in time. Gorbachev
realized that the Soviet Union s economy and country morale was seriously suffering from the
excessive spending on nuclear weapons during the Cold War. During his time as General Secretary he
had a strained relationship with American president Ronald Reagan.

A sceptic is one who refuses to accept statements, without rigorous proof or philosophies, theories or
religious views without substantial evidence, so Horatio can be referred to as a sceptic because of his
unbelief in ghosts.
The Tudors were very superstitious people who believed in spirits, ghosts and apparitions. This is
emphasized in Act One, Scene One where the sentries on watch are constantly talking about spirits,
apparitions and inhuman things. One example of this is Marcellus speech in which he says; What has
this thing appeared again?
This suggests that he is talking about something that is inhuman, and so this creates tension as the
audience wait to find out what he is actually talking about.
The Literacy context in Hamlet is that of a tragedy. Hamlet is one of Shakespeare s most famous
revenge tragedy. We see the genre of tragedy in Act One, Scene One where Horatio talks of King
Fortinbras of Norway s death at the hand of King Hamlet of Denmark, and Prince Fortinbras
subsequent desire for revenge. Horatio talks of young Prince Fortinbras saying: Now sir, young

How Stress Affects The Body
Stress is absolutely affects our body and blood pressure. The stress is temporarily increasing the blood
pressure by causing the heart to beat faster and the blood vessels to narrow. Stress affects the blood
pressure because the body produces a surge of hormones when the person is in a stressful situation and
the hormones increase the blood pressure. The body produces a flow of hormones when the person is
in a stressful situation. When the stress replies happen rarely, the body can improve comparatively fast

The renin angiotensin aldosterone system controls blood pressure and fluid balance in the body.
Activation of the renin angiotensin aldosterone system causes increased sodium retention by the
kidneys, which leads to reduced water loss into the urine and therefore blood volume expansion. If the
RAAS is abnormally active, blood pressure will be too high. RAAS activation occurs during heart
failure, which leads to fluid retention in the body. When the plasma sodium concentration is lower
than normal or the renal blood flow is compact, the juxtaglomerular cells in the kidneys convert
prorenin into renin, which is then unseen directly into the circulation. Plasma renin then cuts a short,
10 amino acid long, and peptide off a plasma protein known as angiotensinogen. The short peptide is
known as angiotensin I. Angiotensin I is then converted, by the removal of 2 amino acids, to form an
octapeptide known as angiotensin II, by the enzyme angiotensin converting enzyme found in the lung
capillaries. Angiotensin II is a potent vaso active peptide that causes arterioles to constrict, resulting in
increased arterial blood pressure. Angiotensin II also stimulates the secretion of the hormone
aldosterone from the adrenal cortex. Aldosterone causes the tubular epithelial cells of the kidneys to

Benefits Of Genetic Modification
The debate about genetic modification has been going on for a long time. On one hand, advocates for
genetic modification believe that many diseases could be prevented and it would relieve many people
from pain. On the other hand, many critics of genetic modification believe that it is unnatural or
playing god. I am drawn to this issue because I believe genetic modification is going to be, if it isn t
already, ubiquitous in our future. In my lifetime, 20 30 years from now, I will have to deal with the
benefits and the possible ramifications of genetic modification. This issue is going to affect me
directly and therefore I have chosen this topic. Genetic modification is already on the horizon and
there is little anyone can do to stop this. Genetic modification should be allowed because it can relieve
suffering, improve the quality of life and strengthen pharmaceuticals. but it obviously needs
limitations and regulations. While genetic modification, can dramatically improve people s lives, it
could have side effects if abused. It should be noted that genetic modification should only be used to
cure or prevent serious diseases, there should be no enhancements. There is a fine line between
preventative medicine and enhancements. An enhancement is changing something normal to make it
extraordinary. Serious diseases would include all such ailments that infringes on a human beings
quality of life and puts them through pain. Fatal diseases such as cystic fibrosis, cancer,

Questions On Plagiarism, Piracy And Netiquette
Key Issues Related to Plagiarism, Piracy and Netiquette In today s digital society, we all spend a good
portion of our day using the internet. We can research subject matter quickly and find multiple
examples of anything. It is not surprising that a person s perception of right and wrong and become
skewed in this environment. After all, it is the internet, the belief is your anonymous and what you do

Plagiarism as defined in the academic misconduct section in the administrative regulations for
Maricopa Community Colleges is a form of cheating and is the act of presenting another person s
work as your own, without giving clear acknowledgment to the person that created the work. This
includes paraphrases or direct quotations of unpublished or published works, using material prepared
by somebody else or buying papers and information gathered and not properly cited. The academic
consequences if caught plagiarizing range from a written warning to expulsion from college (2.3
Scholastic Standards 2.3.11 Academic Misconduct). Imagine explaining expulsion from college
because you did not take the time to do your own research and simply give proper acknowledgement.
Plagiarism can also affect your professional life after college. Imagine if you presented a proposal or

30 Year Mortgage
Making the choice to apply for a mortgage is a huge decision. However, there is no scarcity of
decisions to be made when applying for one. You must decide which lender you are going to pick and
determine whether a fixed or an adjustable rate will suit you best. And then you are compelled to make
the biggest decision of all. Paying a 30 year mortgage loan is quintessential, however, this standard
mortgage length is not written in stone. You can choose to pay off your mortgage sooner with a 15
year loan.
Choosing a 15 year mortgage loan over a 30 year mortgage loan has several benefits. One benefit of
choosing a 15 year term is being able to pay off your home loan quickly. This option is perfect for
those who do not want to pay a mortgage for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By paying an extra $100 each month, you can reduce the amount of interest you pay by $22,816.95
leaving the lifetime of the loan at $114,799.44 in interest.
That being said, if you wanted to make extra payments on the 30 year mortgage loan and pay it off
like a 15 year loan, you would have to do it diligently because the interest rates are higher and you
could mess it up if you don t pay the difference religiously. However, if money gets tight, then you
don t have to make that extra payment if you cannot afford it. Compared to the 15 year loan, you must
always pay a higher monthly payment whether you want to or not, but your interest rates are lower.
In conclusion, making the decision between a 15 year mortgage and a 30 year mortgage is a major
decision that will have long lasting effect on your financial situation. Going over your finances before
choosing a term is crucial. If you are wanting to pay off your mortgage before retiring, it would be
wise to go over your finances to see if your income can support higher payments. If you are a first
time home buyer, looking at every aspect such as how much of disposable income and personal
savings you have should be taken into consideration. Having a 15 year mortgage can take a significant
chunk of your income and if you do not have the means to support that, it is likely in your best interest
to skip the faster route and stick with the 30 year

Things Fall Apart Customs And Tradition Analysis
The Importance of Customs and Traditions
Religions around the world share similar fundamentals but can differ tremendously depending on what
is being practised. Although, there are some practises that are not accepted throughout our world.
Human nature tends to be frightened or uncomfortable with what we do not understand and therefore,
we judge. It is not uncommon however, it is psychologically proven that the human brain follows The
Crowd Effect. Simply put, when an individual is placed in a group scenario, the bias of the individual
can be strongly influenced. Whether or not the accepted truth is fact or fallacy. Having the ability to be
open minded and not jump to conclusions would have a great effect on our societies today.
Tradition has played a major factor throughout our world s history and continues to grow each day.
Sometimes tradition changes from its present form into a new custom. In the book Things Fall Apart
the Ibo people of Umuofia, believe that there is one creator, God, also called Chineke or Chukwu. The
creator can be approached through numerous other deities and spirits in the form of natural objects.

Abstract
Technology has reached an age where it is able to interact with human eye movements, gestures and
even speeches, resulting in the human computer interaction era. The central nervous system in the
human body that controls the bodily movements and allows us to interact with the computers is
referred to as the motor system. However, even with these technological advancements the world is
experiencing, the human body is far from safe. Every day, thousands of people are suffering from
paralysis; which takes away their ability to move and communicate.
This paper aims to discuss a new branch in human computer interaction known as brain computer
interaction to conclude on the most appropriate method, be it the non invasive electroencephalography
technique or the invasive electrocorticigram technique, to heal paralysis.
The reasoning behind the decision will be based on two experiments that are both used to measure
whether the brain can read imaginary and real signals as well as identify the origin of these signals.
These experiments both show a high rate of success yet it can be concluded that the invasive
electrocorticigram technique is better due to a higher percentage of accuracy and a smaller percentage
of possible errors.

water. When they got to the camp that is where Elie saw his mother for the last time. Elie was
separated with his father. They went through selection whoever got selected, would get killed they
would pick the healthy looking ones or the younger ones. Elie and his father didn t get selected but
they got starved from there on the were expected to survive on a piece of bread and some cabbage
soup. Many people died of starvation Elie talks a lot about his hunger and his father s starvation
sometimes. He would steal bread to give to his father or he Would eat it himself. Most people couldn t
last through the starvation they would through the corpses in a wagon so they could be burned later
on. Sometimes they would kill each other for survival if there was a piece of bread on the floor they

Emily Bernard Letter To My Son Summary
The author, Emily Bernard, is a professor of English and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies at the
University of Vermont. She has experience teaching several courses related to African American
Literature and Race and Ethnicity. The author was motivated to reflect on this topic in response to The
Atlantic article Letter to My Son , written by Ta Nehisi Coates. However, instead of addressing the
fear and danger behind raising African American sons, she instead voices out her worries of raising
African American daughters and her disbelief over the fact that her daughters can feel protected or
safe simply because of their difference in gender. Her ultimate goal in writing this piece is to inform
the audience of the rage and worries she has over raising her daughters in this society, and that
maintaining hope is what allows her to provide [her] children safety without suffocation. Given that
this article was published in July of 2015 and the topic she is addressing is still extremely relevant to
our world today, this conversation is of immediate political importance as the author is crying out to
the world about the relentlessness of Black American Motherhood and how fearful ... Show more

In the end, she is indicating her devotion to keeping hope as it is what allows her to release her
daughters into the world without unleashing her inner rage to the world over the daily trauma she must
endure as a mother. I envision this paper more as a personal essay that operates in the realm of ideas,
as she is using Coates article as a foundation for her to publicize the fears of Black American mothers
that have been swept under the rug for so long. This is why she ultimately attempts to culminate her
emotions and inner feelings into a piece of writing for readers around the world to gain a better sense
of understanding

Essay on The Cosmological Argument for the Existence of God
The Cosmological Argument attempts to prove that God exists by showing that there cannot be an
infinite number of regressions of causes to things that exist. It states that there must be a final
uncaused cause of all things. This uncaused cause is asserted to be God.
Arguments like this are thought up to recognize why we and the universe exist. The Cosmological
Argument takes several forms but is basically represented below.
Cosmological Argument
Things exist
It is possible for those things not to exist Whatever has the possibility of non existence, yet exists, has
been caused to exist. Something cannot bring itself into existence because it would have had to exist
to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weaknesses of the argument
One of the weaknesses of the argument is that if all things need a cause to exist, then God Himself
must also, by definition, need a cause to exist. But this only pushes causation back and implies that
there must be an infinite number of causes, which cannot be. This is contradictory. Also, by definition,
God is uncaused.
There are two forms of the cosmological argument. One is the Kalam argument: Like all cosmological
arguments, the kalam cosmological argument is an argument from the existence of the world or
universe to the existence of God. The existence of the universe, such arguments claim, stands in need
of explanation. The only adequate explanation, the arguments suggest, is that God created it.
What distinguishes the kalam cosmological argument from other forms of cosmological argument is
that it rests on the idea that the universe has a beginning in time. Modal forms of the cosmological
argument are consistent with the universe having an infinite past. With the kalam cosmological
argument, however, it is precisely because the universe is thought to have a beginning in time that the
existence of the universe is thought to stand in need of explanation.
The argument has the following structure:
(1) Everything that has a beginning of its existence has a cause

  • 3. Violations In Japanese Internment Camps Two months after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Executive Order 9066. This forced all Japanese Americans, regardless of loyalty or citizenship to evacuate to the West Coast. The relocation of Japanese Americans into internment camps during World War II was one of the most flagrant violations of civil liberties in American history. December 7, 1941, the day after the Japanese attacked, the US government and the FBI began to follow community leaders with strong Japanese ties. The advent of the modern era ushered in a great demand imagist works and garnered a lot of popularity, especially in connection to literature. War and all atrocities associated with it were important focal points for creators of imagist literature and reality had become a very important aspect to create an impact on the patrons of such literature. In this paper, a parallel will be drawn between films and poems to show the transition in the representation of war in literature from anti war and victorian sentiments to realistic depiction of war. In order to do so, I will make references to poems and films pertaining to the First World War and show the change in representation of the First World War between 1914 1917 and also post 1917. Influence of Modern poetry in representation of war was seen in 1914 and the following years very prominently. Until then, most poets would focus on themes like patriotism, loyalty, honor, love and other positive ideal concepts. It took the occurrence of a world war for poets to begin looking at war for the horror that it was and letting its reality set in. A very prominent example of this is Channel Firing by Thomas Hardy. The verses of the poem are as follows, That night your great guns, unawares, Shook all our coffins as we lay, And broke the chancel window squares, We thought it was the Judgment day This poem was written by Hardy just after the War had begun. • 5. Observation Of Students At A Seventh Grade Math Classroom Observation of Student While observing the students in my classroom, I focused on how engaging and motivated they were. The eighth graders at Pine Forest did not have a good seventh grade math teacher, so the students are very behind. They know that they are behind because Mrs. McLamb tells them all the time. Instead of it discouraging them, it motivated the students to want to learn. They know that they must catch up, so I saw the students trying their best to stay focused and be engaged. I noticed while observing that a majority of the class was engaged. I honestly was not expecting this in a math class at 7:30 in the morning. The first day I got there, one student said they had the best math scores in the entire county. So, Mrs. McLamb pulled the up the previous test scores and showed them they were third. I could tell the kids did not want to be third and wanted to be first. They found a reason to learn, and I think that is very important. I did notice that students were not taking notes. I found this odd because it was obvious that they wanted to learn but they never took any notes. One of my days of observing, I got to observe a seventh grade math classroom. I was curious to see what the seventh grades are learning to ensure that they are not behind like the current eighth graders. The teacher was making sure the students learned what they need to know to be ready for eighth grade. The class I observed was a group of AIG students. Like the eighth grade students, ... • 8. The Evolution Of Hester s Suffering And The Forgiveness... The Evolution of Hester s Suffering and the Forgiveness of Society In The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester Prynne is forced to wear a scarlet A on her chest, because of the sin, adultery, she committed. This letter separates Hester from the rest of the Puritans in the town, and causes her much loneliness and suffering. In the beginning of the book, the Puritans are disgusted by Hester, and shun her. As the book goes on, however, the townspeople slowly begin to let Hester into society, and use her as an example of how suffering and good deeds can lead to salvation. Hester s view of herself does not change, and it shows that society is not the only source of her suffering. Hester s suffering and lack of suffering from the town reflect on the nature of the Puritans, and reveal how even the strictest of societies can show compassion in certain circumstances. By being forced to wear the scarlet letter in the beginning of the book, Hester becomes separated from the rest of society, and is now suffering because of it. In the beginning of The Scarlet Letter, Hester is made an example of what happens if one is to sin. The scarlet setter that Hester wears is used as a reminder of what happens when one commits a sin. As soon as Hester puts on the scarlet letter, she is separated from the rest of society. The scarlet letter had the effect of a spell, taking her out of the ordinary relations with humanity, and inclosing her in a sphere by herself (51). This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many of the things that the prisoners think of as their sources of strengths would mean nothing to us, but if one thinks about it, without them we would perhaps lose the will to carry on. Scientists from the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis say homosexuality seems to have an epigenetic, not a genetic link. Epigenetic is the study of heritable changes in gene activity that are not caused by changes in the DNA sequence or genotypes, but rather phenotypes. Homosexual attraction has been said to be passed along in families, there is no proof of that, but leading researchers presume a genetic underpinning of sexual preference is lurking. • 15. The Importance Of Kinship In Cultural Anthropology Kingsborough Community College Importance of Kinship in cultural anthropology Student: Amulang Mantsynov Professor: Igor Pashkovskiy Kinship has traditionally been one of the key topics in social and cultural anthropology. There are two primary reasons for this. First, although not all communities are constituted on the basis of kinship, all humans have a kinship as individuals and are related to other individuals through it. Second, for the sorts of tribal, classless, economically unspecialized societies that anthropologists have mostly though no longer exclusively studied, kinship has appeared to be the main or even sole form of social organization. These observations led various theoretical approaches, especially the schools of functionalism and structuralism within social anthropology, to focusing on how social groups are formed. They got interested in studying of how individuals are related to one another through kinship, and what kinds of mutual rights and duties they have as a result. (R. Parkin. Kinship) Parkin (2012) also points out that unlike the functionalists and structuralists, cultural anthropologists, elected to focus more greatly on the symbolic rather than socio practical aspects of kinship. They are interested in the meanings attached to being a particular sort of relative. They also study how symbols of and perspectives on an individual, the body, and gender tell kinship ideas and practices. In broad terms, a study of kingship from the symbolic standpoint has prevailed in America since the beginning of the twentieth century and periodically has been reinvented and by the 1970s become more influential in world anthropology, especially in its poststructuralist phase. The field of study of a kinship can be divided into three major categories: descent (that is, relations between generations); affinity (marriage); and siblingship. However, the siblingship hasn t been studied as widely as the first two categories. (R. Parkin. Kinship). By the definition provided in the New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, kinship is a relation between two or more persons that is based on common ancestry (descent) or marriage (affinity). Low Vs High Carbohydrate Essay Statement of the Problem A highly debated topic regarding athlete nutrition recently has been the effect of low vs. high carbohydrate diets on athlete performance. While it is common for many athletes to maintain a diet high in carbohydrates, alternative diets are quickly becoming more popular (Nogales‐Gadea et al., 2017). Glycogen is a polysaccharide stored in animal liver and muscle cells that is easily converted to glucose to meet metabolic energy requirements (glycogen, 2017). High muscle glycogen levels are a major contributor to increased athlete performance, and researchers have proven on several occasions that a high carbohydrate is key to achieving these levels (Dunford, 2006). The sin affect could then go extremely wrong, and could lead that person to death. The other reason I am against the resolution is that some people do experiments without the person s authorization. The reason I m saying this is because if you have a family member or a loved one and they are very sick ,and they have no one with them and they decided to call a doctor for help the doctor might not answer. Cognitive Theory And Social Work Cognitive Theory in Social Work Cognitive Theory claims that behavior can be changed through changing faulty thinking, irrational thoughts, automatic thoughts, or learned cognitive misconceptions. When a client has negative images of themselves or their accomplishments, it sets the pace for their behavior, perceptions and expectations; when that thinking is exposed as faulty to the client, the client can then begin to change their behavior based upon restructured, truer images of reality. It has been shown to be effective therapy for individual, group, marital and family treatment, in treating depression, addiction, anxiety, PTSD, personality disorders, and some organic conditions such as schizophrenia, and in many social work settings, such as child welfare, private practice, mental health, crisis intervention, and health care. History Until and through the 1960 s, psychotherapy was dominated by Freud s psychoanalysis, with client centered therapy following at a distant second. Cognitive Theory was first introduced by Alfred Adler, who originally worked with Freud, but departed from Freud s theory that human behavior was motivated by id/ego/super ego and sexual drivers, in favor of believing it was driven by their lifestyle ideas and beliefs about themselves and their world. Although Adler has been referred to as the first cognitive theorist and therapist, cognitive theory has developed and evolved over time, through the theories and practices of many other ... It also stimulates competition rational individuals will naturally want more primary goods for themselves , and will be willing to compete for these. This is vital to a healthy economy because it prevents stagnating monopolization by individuals. One weakness in Rawls theory is his assumption that the individual in the Original Position will think conservatively. Realistically, the individual is supposedly more likely to risk a slightly worse worst case scenario for a markedly better best case scenario (similar to the large numbers of individuals who gamble money in hope of winning more) . The individual may choose to dismiss the Difference Principle in favour of a riskier, but more beneficial principle for example, that the rich get richer . Rawls argues that the individual will adopt conservatism to ensure that all parties may pursue their own ends irrespective of (dis)advantages, simply because of their arbitrary placement in society. It may also be plausibly argued that the gravity of the situations differs, and that when charged with the creation of a society, one is more likely to act conservatively because the dGBgbGGBecision carries potentially negative, far reaching ramifications. The renin angiotensin aldosterone system controls blood pressure and fluid balance in the body. Activation of the renin angiotensin aldosterone system causes increased sodium retention by the kidneys, which leads to reduced water loss into the urine and therefore blood volume expansion. If the RAAS is abnormally active, blood pressure will be too high. RAAS activation occurs during heart failure, which leads to fluid retention in the body. When the plasma sodium concentration is lower than normal or the renal blood flow is compact, the juxtaglomerular cells in the kidneys convert prorenin into renin, which is then unseen directly into the circulation. Plasma renin then cuts a short, 10 amino acid long, and peptide off a plasma protein known as angiotensinogen. The short peptide is known as angiotensin I. Angiotensin I is then converted, by the removal of 2 amino acids, to form an octapeptide known as angiotensin II, by the enzyme angiotensin converting enzyme found in the lung capillaries. While genetic modification, can dramatically improve people s lives, it could have side effects if abused. The Cosmological Argument takes several forms but is basically represented below. Cosmological Argument Things exist It is possible for those things not to exist Whatever has the possibility of non existence, yet exists, has been caused to exist. Something cannot bring itself into existence because it would have had to exist to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Weaknesses of the argument One of the weaknesses of the argument is that if all things need a cause to exist, then God Himself must also, by definition, need a cause to exist. But this only pushes causation back and implies that there must be an infinite number of causes, which cannot be. This is contradictory. Also, by definition, God is uncaused. There are two forms of the cosmological argument. One is the Kalam argument: Like all cosmological arguments, the kalam cosmological argument is an argument from the existence of the world or universe to the existence of God. The existence of the universe, such arguments claim, stands in need of explanation. The only adequate explanation, the arguments suggest, is that God created it. What distinguishes the kalam cosmological argument from other forms of cosmological argument is that it rests on the idea that the universe has a beginning in time. Modal forms of the cosmological argument are consistent with the universe having an infinite past. With the kalam cosmological argument, however, it is precisely because the universe is thought to have a beginning in time that the existence of the universe is thought to stand in need of explanation. The argument has the following structure: (1) Everything that has a beginning of its existence has a cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
