Magical Beasts Throughout the series of Harry Potter, many creatures appear in the books and put into
greater detail in the movies. Were these famous magical creatures made up or compared to something
similar in mythology and folklore? There are many famous creatures throughout the story that add
curiosity to one?s mind when first reading about one. The feeling one may get is to be able to see what
this creature is capable of doing in comparison to others. In each book and movie, there is usually a
creature that Harry, Ron, and Hermione have to overcome, such as the Basilisk in the second movie.
The creatures from Harry Potter that are portrayed in folklore are similar in many ways, yet different
in others. Some creatures were actually made up, but the most known ones, such as Fluffy and
Fawkes, are actually compared to other similar creatures. Most of these magical creatures or
sometimes referred to as ?beasts?, come from Greek and Roman mythology as well as European
mythology. The characteristics from some of the folklore creature were kept the same while others
were completely changed. One of the most popular Harry Potter creatures is Fluffy, the three headed
dog. The creation of Fluffy was influenced by a creature in Greek mythology known as Cerberus.
Cerberus was a three headed beast who guarded the underworld for Hades while Fluffy was a three
headed dog that guarded a trap door that led to the philosopher?s

Analysis Of A Confederacy Of Dunces
A standout amongst relationships in modern literature is the strange relationship between Ignatius
Reilly and Myrna Minkoff, the two dunces in John Kennedy Toole s A Confederacy of Dunces. The
correspondence between them keeps running all through the novel. In the beginning, Ignatius feels a
specific quality of predominance over her, yet she feels that he has put some distance between reality,
and she proposes to start to control his activities. Ignatius wants to beat Myrna at her own game. She
really cares about him, even writing her thoughts on how to better his life. In three separate endeavors
to calm her unwavering feedback and recommendations, he considers her advice, each time
completely failing and causing more trouble for himself. However, toward the end of the novel, in a
comedic irony, she spares him from mental and physical imprisonment. Ignatius is a Catholic
medievalist who rejects the cutting edge world and all its decline (or so he says). Myrna, then again,
pursues each hipster person occurrence and pattern. She is fixated on sex less on the grounds that she
really needs to engage in sexual relations constantly, it just seems that in light of the fact that being
fixated on sex is the thing to do in this modern world. Thus, she grasps cutting edge activism and gets
a progression of small crushes on guys who appear to be activists (who all end up being fakes).

Between these three levees alone, the congressional inspection discovered more than fifty breeches in
the structural design. Once the speculations of a faulty levee system were proven correct, the blame
inevitably fell upon the designer s shoulders; the federal company of the U.S. army corps of
engineering. This organization admitted to have fallen short of the specifications required for the
