The Scarlet Ibis Analysis
James Hurst is the author of the heart breaking short story entitled The Scarlet Ibis . The Scarlet Ibis is
a short story about two brothers; one brother is healthy, while the other is physically handicapped. The
short story is centered on the idea that the older, healthier brother s selfishness and pride ultimately led
to the death of his younger brother, Doodle. Numerous quotes throughout the story demonstrate Hurst
s use of symbolism and foreshadowing to portray and predict Doodle s untimely and heartbreaking
death. The Scarlet Ibis bird symbolizes Doodle; this symbolism can be seen by the authors description
of both Doodle s and the Scarlet Ibis s appearance after death. After the Scarlet Ibis fell from the
bleeding tree his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hurst s diction at the beginning of the short story foreshadows the later death of Doodle. Hurst starts
by setting a gloomy scene as the narrator is speaking. The narrator, Doodle s old brother, soon states,
But sometimes, as I sit in the cool...I remember Doodle (Hurst 1). Hurst uses the word remember to
emphasize the fact that Doodle is no long around. Readers do not know what happened to Doodle, but
begin to suspect the answer. In the next paragraph the narrator says, Doodle was just about the craziest
brother a boy ever had (Hurst 1). In this quote, Hurst uses past tense words such as was and had to
once again show that this was in the past. Hurst s word choices foreshadow Doodle s death and sparks
interest in the readers at the very beginning. Foreshadowing is used at the beginning of the story to
draw readers into the story and help keep their interest.
Hurst utilizes foreshadowing to demonstrate how the brother s selfishness and pride leads to the death
of Doodle. Not long after Doodle was born, the mother explains to the brother that Doodle might be
mentally handicapped as well as physically handicapped. The brother could not accept the fact that his
brother is different, so he began to make plans to kill him [Doodle] by smothering him in his sleep
(Hurst 1). From the very beginning, Doodle s brother is unable to except the fact that his brother is not
normal and never will be. His selfishness and pride leads him to want to kill

Hitler s Appointment
Adolf Hitler s appointment as Chancellor of Germany in 1933 played a vital role in the beginning of
World War II. It was caused by a number of long term causes such as the Treaty of Versailles, strategic
political activities and the Great Depression. Consequences also occurred as a result of his
appointment such as transition from Weimar government to Nazi dictatorship, positive economic
improvement, persecution of Jews and other cultural minorities.
CAUSES
The Treaty of Versailles
Indirectly, the Treaty of Versailles was a major long term cause of Hitler s appointment. The Treaty of
Versailles was signed in 1919 after World War I in an attempt to punish Germany for their actions and
restore peace amongst the nations involved. This affected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Nazis began to spread their racial ideologies very soon after Hitler was appointed chancellor in
1933. They believed that Germans were racially superior and that Jews and other minorities were a
threat to the survival of the German race. Amongst the persecuted were other minority groups, such as
Romani an ethnic group originating from the Indian subcontinent Africans, homosexuals and the
handicapped. However, Jews, who made up less than 1% of the German population in 1933, were the
primary target of the Nazis racially provoked hatred. They were unfairly blamed for the country s
economic depression and defeat in World War One. Following Hitler s appointment as chancellor,
laws were passed that declared Jews second class citizens, segregating them from those of German
descent and forcing them out of their jobs. The Nazis either seized Jewish businesses or forced them
to be sold at exceptionally low prices. Between 1933 and 1935, laws emerged that allowed Romani,
Africans, homosexuals and the handicapped to undergo medical procedures to be sterilized so that
they were no longer able to produce children. Between 1933 and 1939, those belonging to minority
groups were arrested and imprisoned in concentration camps, so that they were no longer able to
partake in society. These concentration camps laid the

What Is The Impact Of Poverty On Children In The United...
One in five children that live in the United States are living in poverty (Sime, 2016). Poverty is the
state of not having enough money to meet one s basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter. What
is it like for a child to live in a home with a low income? What effects does it have on children?
Children living in low income homes face more challenges than others. They often have to endure the
pain of not having family members at home when they need them. At times children living in poverty
have to cope with the stress of taking care of themselves as well as their siblings, while trying to
maintain satisfactory grades in school. In this paper I will discuss the impact of poverty on a child s
social development, academic performance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was shown that if the mother had depression or anxiety when she was pregnant it may increase the
child s risk of having a mental disability. Child who have mental disabilities are likely to have low self
esteem, impaired cognitive development, and social isolation (Wickman,2017). Many people who live
in poverty do not have a car and have to ride the bus to get to places. They do not have enough money
to have a health diet. In order to eat healthy food they have to get to the store and have enough money
to buy the food. The closest organic store is sometimes miles away. In most areas, the closest eating
places they have are fast food restaurants. Sometimes the nearest hospital is an hour away, and they
cannot get there without a car. In some places, they have is a free health clinic, which does not provide
the same care as a hospital does. The prices of medication are so expensive that without health
insurance, which most do not have, they cannot afford it. If a child has Down syndrome or any disease
that requires tons of money, they will not be able to get the help they need. The buildings and homes
they live in are in poor conditions and are sometimes filled with mold (Mullins, 2013). The buildings
can affect their health and can form new health problems for them. The media tends to turn a blind eye
to the health conditions in areas where there is poverty, until it gets out of control. When the media
broadcasts cases like the Flint, Michigan water crisis, it was not until years later that other parts of the
United States were informed about it. Not only did the media take longer, but the government tended
to act like they are doing all they can when they are not helping. In the Flint case, it was stated that
many people have gone to someone and

The Wind Of The Willows, By Kenneth Grahame
Journeys provoke travellers, that may ultimately lead to transformation of self and leave the traveller
far richer for the experience
In both The Wind in the Willows, and Journey to the Interior, the idea that journeys may provoke
travellers and ultimately lead to transformation of self and richer experiences, is clearly exhibited
within. Depending on an entity s current perspective, they may either embody provocative views, such
as the Rat in the Wind in the Willows and also the persona in Journey to the Interior, or even have an
accepting perspective to journey, such as the character of Toad. Through the use of tone, symbolism
and also truncated sentences, the quote is partially accurate in The Wind in the Willows, but

Ultimately, because of the nature of the character of Rat, it is clear that this individual despises and
fears the idea of journey, showcasing how an entity s current perspective, can impede on their view
on, and appreciation of journey.
Moreover, in The Wind in the Willows, the idea that journey can lead to transformation of self, and
rich experiences is exhibited in Toad s ecstatic perception of journey. In this extract of the novel, Toad
believes that adventure is the only means of fulfilling and experiencing a real animalistic life; That s
real life for you, embodied in that little cart . The cart is symbolic of Toad s ambitious nature, which is
manifested through his jubilant tone and positive attitude in response to change and adventure. This
optimistic view on journey proves that transformation of self and rich experiences is attained by
undertaking journey. Toad illustrates an image of journey as being something life changing; Travel,
change, interest, excitement! The whole world before you and a horizon that s always changing . The
cumulative listing of the intangible rewards associated with journey, emphasizes how adventure can
lead to richer experiences . Additionally the metaphoric phrase of the changing horizon represents
Toad s intention of adventure and acceptance of and fearfulness of change. Subsequently, because of
Toad s optimistic and accepting perspective on journey, the quote is

Lolita Quotes
Lolita
Major Characters
Humbert Humbert is the narrator and protagonist of the novel, and he is a European scholar who is
overly attracted to nymphets. This obsession stems from meeting Annabel in Europe, as Humbert is
traumatized after his childhood love s life is cut short. He is a handsome man who is capable of
writing in beautiful prose to his audience.
Early on in the novel, Lolita seems to be attracted to Humbert, even occasionally competing with her
mother for his love. Over time, she becomes irritated by Humbert s demands, and she begins to be
more flirtatious and crude, especially around other children her age. She eventually runs away with
Clare Quilty, but after refusing to participate in child pornography, she is abandoned by him. ... Show

Blindly driven by his lust for Lolita, he uses any set of words in order to defend his actions. For
example, he claims that Lolita is the one that came onto him and that she had complete control in their
relationship. However, in truth, Humbert is the adult who restricts Lolita s money and freedom. It is
only at the end of the novel in which Humbert finally admits to being the one who stole Lolita s
childhood.
The timeframe in which the novel is set also plays an important role in the novel s development. Set in
post World War II America, the characters feature in a time when the country is gaining its own
identity as a superpower. Because of this, a European chap such as Humbert himself would have a
hard time adjusting to the confident, more outspoken American people. The fact that Humbert comes
from a different culture is the main reason why Charlotte is attracted to him. Her love for his
sophistication makes her oblivious to the fact that Humbert is in a sexual relationship with her

How to Overcome Individual-Level Resistance to...
How to overcome individual level resistance to organizational changes
Abstract
Organization change is prevalent, we cannot avoid failure in working, it is just the question about
sooner or later. When we met frustration,we have to take steps to alter the environment. Thus, change
in organization is a necessary result of standstill.
However, where there is change, there is resistance to change. Lectures show that resistance of
employees is always the largest barrier for the organization who want to take a change to develop
further .To solve the relationship of the forces of change and resistance, choosing suitable methods
and strategies is very important.
This paper draws attention on why individuals have resistance ... Show more content on

As we just mentioned before, change is irresistible, however, there is still forces reject to change. Thus,
a theory called force field theory was developed by a researcher named Kurt Lewin. It explained how
do these to forces influence each other. In the form below, we can see that when the two forces are all
most balances, there s indeed little change for the organization. In some degree, if there is a need to
change, managers have to consider a way to push the employees to adjust the new decision and new
environment that the changes make bring(George Jones, 2008 ).
Exhibit 2 illustrated Lewin s theory [pic]
Performance level P1of an organization is shown to be balanced means force for change and
resistance to change are equal. If organization want to achieve performance leve P2, the managers
must increase the forces for change and reduce resistance to change,or both.
How to overcome
Communicate with the workforce
For most employees, the horror of change is that they don t know what is going to happen next.
(George Jones, 2008 ). Managers could communicate with employees, to insight their fright about
change and then check out what is the best solution for both.(Litch, Bonnie, 2005) . Or ,they can have
a good group communication in a weekly meeting (George Jones, 2008 ).

My Personal Christian Beliefs
Here at Colorado Christian University, we are all self proclaimed Christians, but it seems that
everyone believes something different whether it be related to the age of the Earth, if the Bible is
infallible or not, or whether things like alcohol are sinful or not. This is no different when we talk
about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In the next several pages, I will outline my beliefs about the
Work of Christ, the Person of Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Trinity, as well as back my beliefs on
these things with Scripture and other theological writings. Starting off, I believe that Christ came to
the Earth as fully God and fully man and performed miracles, ranging from casting out demons to
raising the dead. The main verse that I use to support this claim is Acts 10:38 which states, How God
anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and
healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. For me, this verse shows us that it
was God who gave Jesus his power, which he forfeited when He became human, so that Jesus could
deliver people and show them the love and power of God. Likewise, this verse is one of the only
verses that explicitly states that Jesus was given His power from God. This must mean that, at some
time, Jesus had His power taken from Him. As I mentioned before, I believe giving away His power
was one of the many prices He had to pay to become human, but God gave this power back to Him at

Theme Of Petruchio In The Taming Of The Shrew
The Secret To Wed A Shrew Lust, wealth, and pride are undoubtedly insatiable. They are an impetus
that drives one to embark on a challenging quest. However, when individuals become obsessed with
them, they may even turn them into a villain. In William Shakespeare s The Taming Of The Shrew,
Petruchio is the villain that has all these insatiable curiosities. A male chauvinist, he is a boisterous
nobleman from Verona who pursues Katherine even though he knows that she is fiery and obnoxious.
Despite her notoriety, he is not deterred by her egregious disposition because what he wants is her
dowry. By being manipulative, corrupt, and audacious, Petruchio is able to win Katherine s heart as
well as her wealth. Petruchio is able to get closer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ii. 53 62). By analyzing this dialogue, it becomes apparent that Petruchio only cares about wealth and
power, no matter how shrewish and unattractive his future wife may be. Further evidence that proves
that Petruchio only cares about Katherine s dowry is during the wedding feast, Petruchio announces:
Gentlemen and friends, I thank you for you I know you think to dine with me today And have
prepared great store of wedding cheer, But so it is, my haste doth call me hence, And therefore here I
mean to take my leave (III ii 157 161). This seals the fact that Petruchio does not love Katherine at all,
as clearly, there are seemingly more important things to him than celebrating his own marriage.
Hence, Petruchio s corruption for wealth is the only factor that drives him to marrying Katherine, as
he doesn t actually care about Katherine herself. Finally, the reason why Petruchio is able to complete
his plans is because of his audacious nature. His unrefined personality allows him to speak freely and
ask disrespectful questions in order to deceive people and grasp the situation in hand. This is evident
when Petruchio bluntly asks Baptista: Then tell me, if I get your daughter s love,

How Did Edison Change The World

The Importance Of Courage In Twelfth Night
Courage is a virtue which belongs to everyone, it just takes a grim environment to induce feelings and
actions in relation to it. Courage is the potential to undertake a grueling situation and transform it into
a virtuous circumstance, which otherwise could have lead to one s dismay. Furthermore, courage is
greatly demonstrated and integrated into several of the texts, plays, and academic compositions
analyzed and evaluated throughout the duration of the semester. Three of the several texts that contain
exceptional specimens of courage include The Other Family by Himani Bannerji, Borders authored by
Thomas King, and the comedic play Twelfth Night composed by William Shakespeare. Primarily, the

her perspective to her mother, and let her know that it was not truly her fault that she drew a white

mindset with regard to the racism occurring at her school. The following is a magnificent quote which
allows the reader to obtain forceful insight with regard to the daughter s considerable courage. The

The Issues Facing Our Society Today
What is the role of the individual in helping to solve some of the problems we face in our society
today? What are some of the problems we face in our society today? In today s society we are
currently facing ten major issues according to toptenz.net and should these problems be considered as
individual or social responsibilities? Now that we are well into the new Millennium society has begun
to recognize serious concerns with issues that kids have to deal with today. Some issues have always
been there but are now coming to the eyes of the public to find solutions. Other issues are new trends
as society begins to adapt to a faster pace of life (Standberry). Here are some of the issues facing our
youth today: single parent households, drug/alcohol abuse, growing up to fast, and violence in
schools, materialism, obesity, education disparity, shifting economy, and loss of national pride. So
how do we fix just one of these problems, do we come together for a common purpose or do we stand
alone and try to make a difference. This is a hard question to answer, and I believe that it takes society
and individuals to fix what is crumbling in our society. However, someone has to be willing to start. It
is scary to think of what our world will be like in fifteen years, especially if you are a parent who
worries if they are providing their children with the moral standards, social growth, and economical
opportunities that they could face in our society today. While it is hard to

Male Stereotypes In Pop Culture
Throughout pop culture men are portrayed in a variety of different ways. Men are shown in a
numerous number of roles, in both film and television. Within the roles they play, they are shown to
act certain ways around women, friends, and family and, most of the time, they are shown in a way
that isnot alwaysan accurate representation of every man and is often harmful to themselves and
others. Male stereotypes are commonly overlooked because many people don t see how men can be
stereotyped nearly as often as women are, but in a lot of media they are. Men are typically portrayed
as perverts, immature, aggressive, and lazy. While these traits might be found in some men, they aren t

EMDR Therapy
Developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1987 by accident, Eye Movement Desensitization and
Reprocessing (EMDR) is a set of eye movements guided by the therapist that help the patient process
and change their reaction to certain traumatic memories (Mayo Clinic). Unlike other forms of therapy,
EMDR does not require the patient to speak with the clinician about their distressing memories in
detail. EMDR is then more favorable for some patients since they can seek treatment from a therapist
for their trauma without having to feel uncomfortable by completely disclosing their disturbing
memories.

Is Hamlet Sane Or Insane
Shakespeare s tragic hero, Hamlet, and his sanity can be argued. Many parts of the play shows that he
may be sane, or insane. There are indications from Hamlet throughout the play of his mind s well
being including many quotes that support both sides. Hamlet has mood swings and his mood changes
many times throughout the play. Hamlet seems to act mad when he found out about his father s death
by saying weird things that make him sound mad. It seems as if there are two different Hamlets
throughout the play, one that is a sensitive prince and then the insane Hamlet who from an outburst of
passion and rage stabs and kills Polonius without feeling any remorse. After killing Polonius he doesn
t tell anyone where the body is. Instead he assumes that everyone just thinks that he s gone mad. ...

Medea Written by Euripides
Medea
. Medea written by Euripides tells the tale of a woman scorn. Medea is set in a city called Corinth. The
play starts off in front of Jason and Medea s house. The play is a tragedy that shows the tragic ending
of a family. For Medea was betrayed by her husband and exiled from the city. With such a tremendous
act of betrayal is Medea a victim of love or is she a villain who has no mercy. Her motive makes her a
deceiving victim, for Medea is a villain that is playing the role of a damsel in distress to get her way.
Fate is a power that control what happens in the future and is beyond some control. Medea was not the
typical heroine to be dictated by fate but yet fate played a part in her demise. Fate predicted the
downfall to come for she had risked her life in order to stay by her lover side, going as far as to killing
her brother. The servants and women recognized Medea s ill fate from the display of madness she
shown. Was fate the reason for Medea to be a victim or did her own cruel emotions make her the
villain. Villain is a cruel malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime
Medea let passion and rage guide her into wickedness thus making her a villain.

too much televison is not good for children in the long run and can cause many problems for you in
the future. Children in the United States have an average of 7.5 hours of screen time per day. Spending
that much time watching a televison screen can be very damaging for the eyes as opposed to reading a

The Obligation Of War In America
1. The French and Indian (1754 1763), known as the Seven Years War in Europe, proved to be the
decisive contest between Britain and France in America (U.S History, 110). Great Britain had an
enormous amount of things to celebrate over after the war was finally over. Morale was high but,
Despite the celebratory mood, the victory over France also produced major problems within the
British Empire, problems that would have serious consequences for British colonists in the Americas
(U.S History, 120). The enormous obligation the war produced at home, nonetheless, turned out to be
the most difficult issue confronting Great Britain. Parliament had to find ways to raise revenue to pay

In his book Quantum Healing, Dr Deepak Chopra tells a powerful story about the connection between
love and physical healing:
An Ohio University study of heart disease in the 1970s was conducted by feeding quite toxic, high
cholesterol diets to rabbits in order to block their arteries, duplicating the effect that such a diet has on
human arteries. Consistent results began to appear in all the rabbit groups except for one, which
strangely displayed 60 per cent fewer symptoms. Nothing in the rabbits physiology could account for
their high tolerance to the diet, until it was discovered by accident that the student who was in charge

The Role Of Performance-Enhancing Drugs In Sports

The Effect Of Pulmonary Function On Reaching V Àô O2 Peak....
SPX211 Report
Student: Heather Nicolle
Student Number: 1077265
Abstract:
The main point of this report was to determine if pulmonary function was a limiting factor in regards
to reaching V˙O2 peak [maximal aerobic capacity]. There were thirty two Sunshine Coast University
students that were tested over the two week period of class. The first session was to figure out the
students V˙O2 peak by participating in increasing high intensity exercise. Whereas, the second class
was more to do with discovering pulmonary function and measuring forced vital capacity [FVC] and
forced expired volume [FEV]. Overall, the results had proven that overall lung function was not a
primary limiting factor even though there was a positive correlation in determining V˙O2 max.
Introduction:
Maximum oxygen uptake V˙O2 peak is classified as the highest rate at which oxygen can be taken up
and utilized by the body during severe exercise. It was one of the main variables in exercise
physiology and regularly is used to specify the cardiorespiratory fitness of an individual.1 However,
there are several physiological functions such as; cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolism [tissue]
that all impact how oxygen intake and consumption is used within the body. It was proven that
patients who had chronic obstructive lung disease, had a limited exercise capacity. Whilst normal,
young subjects had a larger ventilatory reserve, due to maximal exercise capacity in this population
had a disadvantage of a

North Korean Human Rights Violations
North Korea has become infamous for its many atrocities to humanity. This country is well known for
its fear inducing communist political structure which has oppressed the entirety of its people for many
years and still today under the rule of the Kim family. Food shortages, movement restrictions, and
strict bans on media are some of the major ongoing issues today. Those who are found to be in
violation of these bans and restrictions face unfair trial and sentencing, prison camps, and sometimes
public execution. North Korean dictators are responsible for these human rights violations and have

Given this background information, one begins to understand further how the violations occur and
whom is responsible. The dictatorial leadership of North Korea implement fear by using threats of
forced labor and public executions to prevent public dissent through use of media and technology. The
nation uses severe restrictions and strict governmental bans against freedom of information,
association, assembly, and travel, according Human Rights Watch. The government utilizes
informants, anyone caught participating in any subversive manner is reported to security services and
law enforcement. The state controls every aspect of the media. Every news network, daytime
television show, film, music production is made by the government. If citizens are caught with any
publication not produced by the State they are severely punished. Also, if a person is caught with a
cell phone or form of entertainment produced outside of North Korea, they will be imprisoned
(Human Rights Watch). It is the dictatorships firm belief that if they maintain media isolation they will
prevent dissent, revolution, and the want of the people to travel outside of the country. Another issue,

A Modern Day Form Of Slavery Essay
Literature Review
While DMST is considered to be a modern day form of slavery, history has recorded that the sexual
exploitation of children has been practiced in America since its colonization. While slavery was
abolished in the 19th century, it did not dissipate completely and it wasn t until the beginning of the
20th century that the issue of child sex trafficking began to receive significant attention. This was in
part due to the Trafficking Victim s Protection Act (TVPA) that was passed in 2000 which protected
victims of trafficking by enhancing criminal penalties under the law as well as made benefits and
services to victims available (TVPA, 2000). Since the act s establishment, the TVPA has been
amended 4 times in order to grow with the changing attitudes, policies, and approaches to best combat
human trafficking (DeCeoursty, 2016). The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 refueled the
United States dedication to sex trafficking by declaring DMST as a threat to national security which
transformed the way human trafficking should be approached (DeCeoursty, 2016). The post 911
environment embraced a crime control approach by focusing more on combating organized crime
activity instead of the issue of human rights and the recognition of victimization (DeCeoursty, 2016).
However, this crime control approach to human trafficking failed to address the underlying structural
problems, which is the high demand for the sex trafficking industry. Over time, the Department of

Humans Need to Belong
Belonging is at the core of the human condition. A significant individual can nurture or prevent a
sense of belonging in individuals, groups or communities and is a prevalent concept in the
autobiographies Romulus, My Father by Raimond Gaita and I know why the caged bird sings by
Maya Angelou, a story about growing up African American in 1930s. These texts explore how a
mentoring figure, an individual s insecurities and how confidence and self esteem in a community can
instil or prohibit a sense of belonging.
An individual s insecurities can prevent a sense of belonging in a community is an idea demonstrated
in Romulus, My Father through Christine. Social pressures of gender roles and the barrenness feed an
insecurity that is artificially relieved by longing for company and seducing men to gain a sense of
power and connection. However it further alienates herself My mother had other lovers and he was
tormented by jealousy... my mother and he quarrelled over her infidelities. The use of vivid language
tormented and quarrelled, highlight how her actions, result of her insecurities, strain the relationship
between her and Mitru. This also serves to characterise Christine in the early chapters, as the villain
and due to the autobiographical nature of this text, reflects Raimond s disconnect to his mother.
Therefore Christine and her insecurities prevent a sense of belonging between her, Mitru and
Raimond.

Questions On Moore s Belief Of External World Essay

1, 2,3,4, Essay question on Moore s belief of external world PART A: 1 Why do Parmenides and Zeno
think that change/flux/motion are impossible? : Parmenides argues that 1. It is and is not possible for
something not to exist, 2. Something that is there in thought and through senses must exist. He
believes that there are two paths one can follow. The path of error, trusting ones sensory inputs, and
the path of truth, conclusion through reasoning and logical thought. His idea of change is for
something that exists to not exist anymore, something that wasn t is now. To conceptualize this picture
a block of stone, a sculptor chisels it into a beautiful piece of art, the statue is still the same piece of
rock, only in a different shape. Parmenides thinks that those who follow the path of error would argue
that the stone did change, however he believes that their senses are deceiving them. The rock instead
ceased to exist, and the beautiful sculpture came into existence. As a result of this belief, change is
impossible due to the fact that something that has changed does not exist anymore, instead a new body
is created with different properties. Zeno s most famous example on why flux/flow are impossible his

The Magical World Of Disney World
At the age of eight, it was finally time for little Timmy to experience the magical world of Disney
World. His parents had spent the past two years, saving up just enough money for a three night stay at
one of the resorts in Orlando. Saving the money was no easy task, as they had to often make some
tough choices on where to spend less in their daily routine. They would save with little things such as
eating in rather than spending an extraordinary amount of amount money on fancy restaurants. They
believed the resulting trip to Disney world would pay off and make up for the lousy home cooked
meals. Of course, while booking the trip, they knew that time would be scarce and a solid plan on how
to get the most out of a three night trip was crucial. They decided that since most of their time would
be spent outside and within the amusement parks, a cheap hotel would suffice and more money could
be spent on an all park pass along with extra fast passes to skip the long lines. They also decided it
was worth buying a plane ticket rather than make the long drive up to Florida from Boston. They
knew the experience of flying in a plane would be well worth the extra $500 they could be saving

A strategy that views the world as a single, if segmented, market.
According to some researchers all the definitions of the concept can be grouped into three views (Peng
and
Pleggenkuhle Miles, 2008). The first view considers global strategy as a particular form of
multinational corporation strategy that treats all the countries as a global marketplace. The second
view states that global strategy is related to international strategic management and the third
perspective incorporates both international and domestic corporate strategy. Starting from the
relationship between pressure to cut costs and pressure to adapt to local conditions (Figure 1), four
strategic approaches for global level business have been identified: multi domestic, global,
international and of countries across the world with a single strategy that is highly co ordinated and

Mass Medi Weaknesses And Strengths Of The World
As informed by the additional resources, mass media has its own strengths and weaknesses. Based on
its pros and cons, the future of mass media will not just remain the same as the current situation any
more.
Firstly, the future of printed mass media which were the magazines, books, and newspaper has being
determined now in the early decades of the 21st century. The new digital technologies, mainly the
constant development and influences of the Internet are stimulating the publishers to expand new
business design that can turn out well and even grow in the Digital Age.
Secondly, different delivery medium are changing the television industry in a fundamental ways.

In the developing countries, these fears are deeply rooted in their colonial experience, when their
colonial masters imposed their language and culture on them. Developing nations consider the import
of US films to be a new kind of invasion cultural invasion...one cannot ignore the fact that rich
countries such as Canada and France share the concerns of developing countries about U.S. cultural
dominance. Their stance on electronic imperialism gives the concerns of the developing nations some
credence and suggests that those concerns do not stem purely from paranoia. (Sawhney, 2007 p.43)
Modern Mass Communications also drives the global economy, and allows us to enjoy the lifestyles
(In the first world at least) that we are accustomed to. (Sawhney, 2007) Although this can be explain
as the globalizing effects of mass communication, where the cultural values of people are relatively
the same, however, it is difficult to change as these values are learnt across a person s life. For
example, Japanese are naturally disciplined and hardworking people. The evidence of inherit values in
them can be seen across their country s history. Which is why, they still remain faithful with their
values even though they are mostly globalized nowadays. As a result, they are still able to preserve its
tradition and cultural values until

How Atopy Can Be Defined As The Genetic Tendency Of An...
Atopy can be defined as the genetic tendency of an individual to develop allergic diseases such as
allergic rhinitis, asthma and atopic dermatitis. It is also known as a hypersensitivity disorder or an
exaggerated immune reaction to a foreign antigen. It is associated with a heightened immune response
by the body to common allergens which may be inhaled, contact or food allergens (Medicine net,
2016). Atopy also involves the capacity to produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) in response to common
environmental proteins, resulting in an IgE mediated allergy (Medscape, 2017). As in the case study,
an IgE mediated allergy to finned fish and crustaceans was established.
The earliest symptomatic presentations were itchiness, redness and swelling of ... Show more content

Inhalation of the seafood aerosols resulted in the asthma symptoms. Inhalation is also a common route
of entry for allergens into the systemic circulation.
Also, the constant skin contact with native fish and crustaceans for about 10years while working as a
truck driver was another predisposing factor. The longer the exposure time of the substance on the
surface of the body, the higher the dermal absorption of substances into the body (Mehta, 2004).
Another exposure factor is that the sensitization by the worker was facilitated by the wet and cold
conditions of the work environment (irritative factors). Increase in the water content and temperature
of the skin increases the rate and extent of dermal absorption of substances. A rise in the temperature
of the skin results in vasodilation which allows for the passage of more blood in the dermal layers of
the skin resulting in an increase in the transport via diffusion of harmful materials into the body (Shier,
Butler, Lewis, 2014, p. 136). When the integrity of the skin surface is compromised or damaged by
temperature trauma resulting from wet and cold conditions of the sea food products, scrapes, cuts or
bruises due to lack of hand gloves; its ability to serve as an effective protective layer is affected
(National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, 2013).
Therefore, the lower the integrity of the skin, the higher the permeability and extent of dermal
absorption of substances from the skin surface

The Significance of Calphurnia s Insignificance in Julius...
Behind every man, there is a woman. As seen throughout history, society has dumped women into a
lower rank. Women have been seen as much less significant and less important as pertaining to men.
This idea of society s own patriarchal illustration can be seen in William Shakespeare s The Tragedy
of Julius Caesar, in which Julius Caesar s wife, Calphurnia, is left widely unnoticed and highly
insignificant although she holds an image that is really quite important. In The Tragedy of Julius
Caesar, Julius Caesar is seen as what the image history has portrayed him as, a fine general of Rome s
vast military but also a general of an ill mind and ignorance that is upon him. This ill mind and
ignorance is derived from his power and the abuse that came with the power. His abuse of power is
widely seen throughout The Tragedy of Julius Caesar as he seizes his power from the Rome senate
and everyone and everything. This abuse is also summarized in Brutus s response of Caesar s power
as he describes Caesar as a serpent egg and provides a forewarning of the dangers of Caesar s power
as it becomes more and more prevalent throughout the first half of the story before his death. As it is
shown that the assumptions pertaining to Caesar are true; it is also developed that Caesar begins to
overlook his surroundings, of which includes his beloved wife, Calphurnia. As the story progresses,
we find that Calphurnia s nature can be described as shy, reclusive, and very quiet in her ways.

What´s Supramolecular Chemistry Essay
Supramolecular chemistry actually represents a fairly simple concept. In contrast to molecular
chemistry, which is predominantly based on the covalent bonding of the atoms, supramolecular
chemistry is based up on intermolecular interactions, i.e on the association of two or more building
blocks, which are held together by intermolecular forces . When molecules get larger, they have the
ability to stick together and that allows the formation of larger assemblies of molecules that are not
bonded to one another but stick together and organize themselves, just like the pieces of the puzzle.
Supramolecular chemistry is the domain of chemistry that deals with the forces that will allow them to
stick together, which may include hydrogen bonding, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If one understands clearly the rules of folding, then it is certainly possible to correct the misfolding
events and hence the disease can be curbed.
1.2 Host Guest Chemistry:
In supramolecular chemistry, host guest chemistry is one of the intresting very active field in the last
three decades. This describes complexes which were composed molecules or ions that are held
together by forces other than those of full covalent bonds. Host guest chemistry borders the inception
of molecular recognition and interactions through noncovalent bonding.Hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds,
van der Waals forces, and hydrophobic interactions are the four regularly used types of noncovalent
bondings. Host guest dynamics plays a crucial role in understanding the reaction chemistry of guest
molecules encapsulated within self assembled hosts. These molecule systems have been used as model
systems to study the fundamental principles that govern the complexation of a guest molecule to its
host.Host guest chemistry has a wide range of practical applications which are very popular in basic
laboratory research, and in pharmaceutical and food industries. Biologically it helps us to understand
the binding or association between molecules which indeed plays a fundamental role in molecular and
cellular functions. Understanding the rudimental mechanisms that govern the binding process between
molecules is

Science And The Art Of Science
A couple of years ago my daughter, who will graduate with a degree in biology from UC Santa Cruz
this June, shared a pivotal quote with me. The quote, by nature philosopher Vladimir Nabokov, states,
There is a high ridge where the mountainside of scientific knowledge joins the opposite slope of
artistic imagination; where precision of poetry and the art of science can meet. She said it reminded
her of all the years she watched me with my students, exploring and healing wild places. This was,
and is, one of the most profound compliments I have ever received. There is a multitude of ways to
approach teaching students about our Earth, some technical, some artistic, some spiritual, but to effect
lasting change, one has to touch on all three. Throughout my 23 years as an environmental educator, I
have often said my true goal is to guide students toward a love and desire to protect our planet and
each other the science they learn is a happy side effect. But side effects can have lasting effects, and
make no mistake the science is critical. Hooking students emotionally, though, opens their minds to
the science, to a desire to know the world around them, to a willingness to absorb the science because
it explains what they love. As educators, volunteers, and docents, our challenge is to create that high
ridge for students, to teach natural history in an imaginative, artistic way one that presents science as a
form of poetry from the heart. It is hard to ignore the cries

Freudian Theory And Horney s Theory
Freudian Theory and Horney s Theory: A Comparison Paper
Amy Simms
Yorkville University
Abstract
This comparison paper aims to highlight the main aspects of Freud and Horney s theories of
psychoanalysis, and begins to unravel some of the possible similarities, and many of the contrasts
between the two . Beginning with Freud, the grandfather of psychoanalysis, and comparing his set of
ideals with that of a woman who came shortly after him, Karen Horney with not only a new set of
views on psychoanalysis but a fresh new look on gender in society, much due to the culture and time
periods affect on each theorists work. Through the comparison of theories and views, the reader will

Throughout the course of this paper, the comparison of Freud and Horney will show that while Freud
began forging the path of psychoanalysis, it was people like Horney who were able to challenge many
of his outdated views and improve upon them, such as challenging the concept that our personalities
are created by age 5, but instead personalities are fluid and grow with the person long after childhood.
(CITE THIS) In the end Honey shows human nature in a more positive and hopeful light, rather than
many of the despairing views of Freudian theory.
FREUD THEORY HIGHLIGHTS 400 WORDS
Starting at the beginning is taking a step back into Vienna in the 1850 s, when Freud s theories began
formation as his childhood experiences began to take place (Schultz Schultz 2017). Freud began his
work in the field of psychoanalysis and specifically the conscious and unconscious mind, and neuroses
through studying under such greats as Charcot and Bernheim (Boeree, C., 2006).
Freud started to think about conscious, preconscious and unconscious mind deeply, and thought that
conscious mind was a small portion of our whole mind, which he believed to be unconscious thought
that drives our instincts.
Begins to name those id ego and superego.
Wishes and drives can break into consciousness from unconsciousness when they become too big, like
overpowering thirst.
Ego is consciousness to satisfy the id
Superego is completed by the age of 7 and is

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Contract Theory
In the Elements of Moral Philosophy, written by James Rachels, the theory of Social Contract Theory
is defined as the set of rules, governing behaviors, that rational people will accept, on the condition
that others accept them as well (Rachels EMP 85). The author describes that the theory aims to explain
the purpose of both morality and government within a society. Rachels states that the purpose of
morality is to make social living possible; the purpose of government is to enforce vital moral rules
(Rachels EMP 85). In essence, social contract theory dictates an implicit set of rules by which a
specific society is governed. The set of rules lays the framework for what will be considered moral or
not within the society. The goal of this essay is to objectively analyze the strengths and weaknesses of
the social contract theory, and describe how they impact the world. Ultimately, even though the text
provides concerns regarding the disadvantages of the contract, the contract still exists today and thus
can be successful despite the author s criticism. Social contract theory promotes the existence of social
order and provides the foundation for morality (Rachels EMP 82). Even though that there exists a
strong inclination for the emergence of anarchy without a common source of morality, philosophers
like Hobbes, believe that the enticement is built into society by humanity existing among each other.
The need inherently exists for humanity to form some sort of accord to

My Personal Christian Beliefs Here at Colorado Christian University, we are all self proclaimed Christians, but it seems that everyone believes something different whether it be related to the age of the Earth, if the Bible is infallible or not, or whether things like alcohol are sinful or not. This is no different when we talk about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In the next several pages, I will outline my beliefs about the Work of Christ, the Person of Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Trinity, as well as back my beliefs on these things with Scripture and other theological writings. Starting off, I believe that Christ came to the Earth as fully God and fully man and performed miracles, ranging from casting out demons to raising the dead. The main verse that I use to support this claim is Acts 10:38 which states, How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. For me, this verse shows us that it was God who gave Jesus his power, which he forfeited when He became human, so that Jesus could deliver people and show them the love and power of God. Likewise, this verse is one of the only verses that explicitly states that Jesus was given His power from God. This must mean that, at some time, Jesus had His power taken from Him. As I mentioned before, I believe giving away His power was one of the many prices He had to pay to become human, but God gave this power back to Him at this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. A Modern Day Form Of Slavery Essay Literature Review While DMST is considered to be a modern day form of slavery, history has recorded that the sexual exploitation of children has been practiced in America since its colonization. While slavery was abolished in the 19th century, it did not dissipate completely and it wasn t until the beginning of the 20th century that the issue of child sex trafficking began to receive significant attention. This was in part due to the Trafficking Victim s Protection Act (TVPA) that was passed in 2000 which protected victims of trafficking by enhancing criminal penalties under the law as well as made benefits and services to victims available (TVPA, 2000). Since the act s establishment, the TVPA has been amended 4 times in order to grow with the changing attitudes, policies, and approaches to best combat human trafficking (DeCeoursty, 2016). The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 refueled the United States dedication to sex trafficking by declaring DMST as a threat to national security which transformed the way human trafficking should be approached (DeCeoursty, 2016). The post 911 environment embraced a crime control approach by focusing more on combating organized crime activity instead of the issue of human rights and the recognition of victimization (DeCeoursty, 2016). However, this crime control approach to human trafficking failed to address the underlying structural problems, which is the high demand for the sex trafficking industry. Developing nations consider the import of US films to be a new kind of invasion cultural invasion...one cannot ignore the fact that rich countries such as Canada and France share the concerns of developing countries about U.S. cultural dominance. Their stance on electronic imperialism gives the concerns of the developing nations some credence and suggests that those concerns do not stem purely from paranoia. (Sawhney, 2007 p.43) Modern Mass Communications also drives the global economy, and allows us to enjoy the lifestyles (In the first world at least) that we are accustomed to. (Sawhney, 2007) Although this can be explain as the globalizing effects of mass communication, where the cultural values of people are relatively the same, however, it is difficult to change as these values are learnt across a person s life. For example, Japanese are naturally disciplined and hardworking people. The evidence of inherit values in them can be seen across their country s history. Which is why, they still remain faithful with their values even though they are mostly globalized nowadays. As a result, they are still able to preserve its tradition and cultural values until ... • 47. How Atopy Can Be Defined As The Genetic Tendency Of An... Atopy can be defined as the genetic tendency of an individual to develop allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis, asthma and atopic dermatitis. It is also known as a hypersensitivity disorder or an exaggerated immune reaction to a foreign antigen. It is associated with a heightened immune response by the body to common allergens which may be inhaled, contact or food allergens (Medicine net, 2016). Atopy also involves the capacity to produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) in response to common environmental proteins, resulting in an IgE mediated allergy (Medscape, 2017). As in the case study, an IgE mediated allergy to finned fish and crustaceans was established. The earliest symptomatic presentations were itchiness, redness and swelling of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inhalation of the seafood aerosols resulted in the asthma symptoms. Inhalation is also a common route of entry for allergens into the systemic circulation. Also, the constant skin contact with native fish and crustaceans for about 10years while working as a truck driver was another predisposing factor. The longer the exposure time of the substance on the surface of the body, the higher the dermal absorption of substances into the body (Mehta, 2004). Another exposure factor is that the sensitization by the worker was facilitated by the wet and cold conditions of the work environment (irritative factors). Increase in the water content and temperature of the skin increases the rate and extent of dermal absorption of substances. A rise in the temperature of the skin results in vasodilation which allows for the passage of more blood in the dermal layers of the skin resulting in an increase in the transport via diffusion of harmful materials into the body (Shier, Butler, Lewis, 2014, p. 136). When the integrity of the skin surface is compromised or damaged by temperature trauma resulting from wet and cold conditions of the sea food products, scrapes, cuts or bruises due to lack of hand gloves; its ability to serve as an effective protective layer is affected (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, 2013). Therefore, the lower the integrity of the skin, the higher the permeability and extent of dermal absorption of substances from the skin surface ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. The Significance of Calphurnia s Insignificance in Julius... Behind every man, there is a woman. As seen throughout history, society has dumped women into a lower rank. Women have been seen as much less significant and less important as pertaining to men. This idea of society s own patriarchal illustration can be seen in William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, in which Julius Caesar s wife, Calphurnia, is left widely unnoticed and highly insignificant although she holds an image that is really quite important. In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Julius Caesar is seen as what the image history has portrayed him as, a fine general of Rome s vast military but also a general of an ill mind and ignorance that is upon him. This ill mind and ignorance is derived from his power and the abuse that came with the power. His abuse of power is widely seen throughout The Tragedy of Julius Caesar as he seizes his power from the Rome senate and everyone and everything. This abuse is also summarized in Brutus s response of Caesar s power as he describes Caesar as a serpent egg and provides a forewarning of the dangers of Caesar s power as it becomes more and more prevalent throughout the first half of the story before his death. As it is shown that the assumptions pertaining to Caesar are true; it is also developed that Caesar begins to overlook his surroundings, of which includes his beloved wife, Calphurnia. As the story progresses, we find that Calphurnia s nature can be described as shy, reclusive, and very quiet in her ways. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. What´s Supramolecular Chemistry Essay Supramolecular chemistry actually represents a fairly simple concept. In contrast to molecular chemistry, which is predominantly based on the covalent bonding of the atoms, supramolecular chemistry is based up on intermolecular interactions, i.e on the association of two or more building blocks, which are held together by intermolecular forces . When molecules get larger, they have the ability to stick together and that allows the formation of larger assemblies of molecules that are not bonded to one another but stick together and organize themselves, just like the pieces of the puzzle. Supramolecular chemistry is the domain of chemistry that deals with the forces that will allow them to stick together, which may include hydrogen bonding, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If one understands clearly the rules of folding, then it is certainly possible to correct the misfolding events and hence the disease can be curbed. 1.2 Host Guest Chemistry: In supramolecular chemistry, host guest chemistry is one of the intresting very active field in the last three decades. This describes complexes which were composed molecules or ions that are held together by forces other than those of full covalent bonds. Host guest chemistry borders the inception of molecular recognition and interactions through noncovalent bonding.Hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds, van der Waals forces, and hydrophobic interactions are the four regularly used types of noncovalent bondings. Host guest dynamics plays a crucial role in understanding the reaction chemistry of guest molecules encapsulated within self assembled hosts. These molecule systems have been used as model systems to study the fundamental principles that govern the complexation of a guest molecule to its host.Host guest chemistry has a wide range of practical applications which are very popular in basic laboratory research, and in pharmaceutical and food industries. Biologically it helps us to understand the binding or association between molecules which indeed plays a fundamental role in molecular and cellular functions. Understanding the rudimental mechanisms that govern the binding process between molecules is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 52. Science And The Art Of Science A couple of years ago my daughter, who will graduate with a degree in biology from UC Santa Cruz this June, shared a pivotal quote with me. The quote, by nature philosopher Vladimir Nabokov, states, There is a high ridge where the mountainside of scientific knowledge joins the opposite slope of artistic imagination; where precision of poetry and the art of science can meet. She said it reminded her of all the years she watched me with my students, exploring and healing wild places. This was, and is, one of the most profound compliments I have ever received. There is a multitude of ways to approach teaching students about our Earth, some technical, some artistic, some spiritual, but to effect lasting change, one has to touch on all three. Throughout my 23 years as an environmental educator, I have often said my true goal is to guide students toward a love and desire to protect our planet and each other the science they learn is a happy side effect. But side effects can have lasting effects, and make no mistake the science is critical. Hooking students emotionally, though, opens their minds to the science, to a desire to know the world around them, to a willingness to absorb the science because it explains what they love. As educators, volunteers, and docents, our challenge is to create that high ridge for students, to teach natural history in an imaginative, artistic way one that presents science as a form of poetry from the heart. It is hard to ignore the cries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the course of this paper, the comparison of Freud and Horney will show that while Freud began forging the path of psychoanalysis, it was people like Horney who were able to challenge many of his outdated views and improve upon them, such as challenging the concept that our personalities are created by age 5, but instead personalities are fluid and grow with the person long after childhood. (CITE THIS) In the end Honey shows human nature in a more positive and hopeful light, rather than many of the despairing views of Freudian theory. FREUD THEORY HIGHLIGHTS 400 WORDS Starting at the beginning is taking a step back into Vienna in the 1850 s, when Freud s theories began formation as his childhood experiences began to take place (Schultz Schultz 2017). Freud began his work in the field of psychoanalysis and specifically the conscious and unconscious mind, and neuroses through studying under such greats as Charcot and Bernheim (Boeree, C., 2006). • 54. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Contract Theory In the Elements of Moral Philosophy, written by James Rachels, the theory of Social Contract Theory is defined as the set of rules, governing behaviors, that rational people will accept, on the condition that others accept them as well (Rachels EMP 85). The author describes that the theory aims to explain the purpose of both morality and government within a society. Rachels states that the purpose of morality is to make social living possible; the purpose of government is to enforce vital moral rules (Rachels EMP 85). In essence, social contract theory dictates an implicit set of rules by which a specific society is governed. The set of rules lays the framework for what will be considered moral or not within the society. The goal of this essay is to objectively analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the social contract theory, and describe how they impact the world. Ultimately, even though the text provides concerns regarding the disadvantages of the contract, the contract still exists today and thus can be successful despite the author s criticism. Social contract theory promotes the existence of social order and provides the foundation for morality (Rachels EMP 82). Even though that there exists a strong inclination for the emergence of anarchy without a common source of morality, philosophers like Hobbes, believe that the enticement is built into society by humanity existing among each other. The need inherently exists for humanity to form some sort of accord to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
