Off Road Heaven Research Paper
Off Road Heaven: Six of the Best Off Road Destinations For some of us, getting enjoyment from our
vehicles goes far beyond what the paved urban playground has to offer. We want a challenge. We want
a sense of exploration. We want roads, where instead of signs, the terrain itself sets the speed limit.
There s just something about that sense of accomplishment every time we complete a new trail or
obstacle that makes us want more. Everyone who owns an off road vehicle has their own favorite spot
to get away from the concrete jungles. Whether it s a light, relaxing ride down a dirt trail, or total axel
snapping carnage though boulders the size of small busses, there are some destinations you cannot
allow yourself to pass up. If off roading is your hobby of choice, here are the top six off road trails and
parks in the United States that should be on your bucket list.

Over twenty four miles of mostly dirt trails can be found here at this popular destination. Available
trails range in difficulty from easy to extreme, so there is a little something for everyone here at
Hollister Hills. The easy trails are generally smooth dirt roads with inclines, though the scenic forest.
The extreme trails can involve steep, off camber climbs, and washouts that could swallow a vehicle.
Once again, the extreme trails are meant for buggies and heavily modified vehicles. Hollister is home
to several major off road competition events such as the Top Truck Challenge. Those events usually
include its famous obstacle called the Tank Trap. The Tank Trap is a long, deep mud pit with logs
buried at the bottom. It has been known to break many of the best built off road vehicles. Besides the
dirt and mud, you can also find trails with sand, washed out gullies, and other trails that lead through

Grimm Brothers Collective Culture
The Grimm brothers lived in a factioned Germany with many different cultures that were struggling to
connect with one another. In attempts to help unify Germany the Grimm brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm,
traveled throughout the country; listening, collecting, and writing down oral stories and fables from
various regions in Germany. They believed that preserving oral culture and stories from various places
in Germany would nationalize Germany by having a collective culture rather than many different
cultures. With seven total editions and a dictionary, preserving culture and unifying Germany was
their life goal. Writing down these oral stories and collecting them assisted in the formation of
Germany as a nation rather than multiple different imagined communities. Most nations have a shared
common culture and an official language. The Grimm brothers helped usher in an age of oneness in
Germany and in doing so, Germany became a more unified nation.
At the time that the Grimm brothers were collecting their stories, Germany was many different groups
of people, differing by region. They were not what we consider today a nation. A nation is an
imagined political community and imagined as both inherently limited and
2
sovereign. (1. Anderson) The term imagined in this sense refers to a group of people who know that
they belong to one another through shared beliefs, however, they will never meet everyone who is also
in that imagined community. They see themselves and each

Native American Rock Art History
Native American rock art is a big part of early American history. Most of these fragments of history
were destroyed and lost to the public due to vandalism, mass settlement and colonization, and man
made things like dams. The history of the rock art is incredibly fascinating. I was very interested in the
National History Day Fair last year, and I found out about it fairly late. I decided to try to enter it. I
made a documentary and process paper before finding out that I was past the due date. This year, I was
determined to try. I was thinking of several topics to do my project on, like Malala, World War I, The
Berlin Wall, and The Treaty of Velasco/independence of Texas. But when I saw the theme, I knew
exactly what to do for my presentation.

The Benefits Of Education In This Is Water By David Foster...
Many high school students have grown jaded with the modern education system, sitting for hours in a
classroom almost every day having seemingly useless information crammed into their brains. At some
point, the curiosity died and left behind the average student of today. Most people will agree that a
change must occur within the way the youth receives an education; however, fewer people have
touched on the concept that the students must change their mindsets as well. They must all look
beyond the surface level education that teachers tend to focus on and understand what more they can
gain. Throughout David Foster Wallace s speech This is Water, Wallace primarily employs didactic
little parable ish stories along with hyperbolic examples to enforce the idea that the true benefits of
education come from learning simple awareness rather than knowledge. Almost immediately, Wallace
inserts the opening to the story that gives his speech a title, speaking about two young fish that
eventually come across an an older fish who asks them the oddly perplexing question of how s the
water? . He then goes on to explain that somehow, the fish do not understand the obvious fact that they
live in the water, it surrounds them. This story serves as an introduction to the point Wallace hopes to
give his audience, that a liberal arts education is not so much about filling you up with knowledge as it
is about quote teaching you how to think. The speaker then prompts his audience to

Fox Media s Influence On Politics
The Three largest or most well known news stations of the modern age is Fox News, CNN, and BBC.
Everyone has heard of at least one of these news stations, and most people know what their stance on
politics are. CNN, Fox, and BBC like any news station are political and there are two political views
in this world. There are the left and the right side of politics, I have noticed that people on the news
stations do take side. CNN and BBC take a far more left stance on politics and Fox news take the right
side of politics. How many people tune in on these three main news stations, and I have found some
interesting facts. I have found out that around 8.8 million people tuned in to fox news last Tuesday.

been showing the men who died there protecting the compound. Fox news does the opposite, blaming
her for it and holding her accountable for her actions, also Fox News is always the best. They have a
tendency to have the right wing approach to politics. So when they look at something they will look at
it from a Republican stand point. Which isn t always the best way to view things. For example, I was
watching Fox News the other day, and they had news report on recreational marijuana. When I was
watching Fox News I realized that they forgot to mention all the great medical benefits of marijuana,
and all they talked about was how it could harm younger people and how it s bad for you. When you
watch these news stations, you can figure out how they view the world by their stances on current
topics. How they try to convince you that something is bad or good for you. I think that the news

In an effort to extend Andreasen s (1968) typology to computer mediated environments, we assert that
information sources can be sorted into one of four groups: (1) Personal source providing personalized
information (e.g., My sister says that this product is best for me. ); (2) Personal source providing non
personalized information (e.g., A renowned expert says that this product is the best. ); (3) Impersonal
source providing personalized information (e.g., Based on my profile, the recommender system

studies on personal influence, social influence, or WOM, can be categorized as studies investigating
personal sources providing personalized or non personalized information. Furthermore, studies
dealing with reference groups encompass such sources as well as impersonal sources that provide non
personalized information. Thus, a new area has emerged in consumer research, arising mainly from
information technologies such as the Internet: that of impersonal sources that provide personalized

The Role Of Economic Classes In Zola s The Belly Of Paris
Zola s novel is set in a Paris that is defined by oppositional economic classes that struggle to gain
prosperity and security in the Belly of Paris. The opposing socioeconomic camps in The Belly of Paris
distinctly resemble those illustrated by Karl Marx. In The Communist Manifesto, Marx describes a
society that splits itself into two great classes directly facing each other: Bourgeoisie and Proletariat
(Marx Engels, 220). Moreover, Marx argues that the capitalist class, or the Bourgeoisie, has conquered
for itself, in the modern representative State, exclusive political sway (Marx Engels, 221). In Zola s
naturalist observation of nineteenth century France, the reader imagines a distinct struggle between
these two classes.

Discuss And Understanding Buffer Solutions
INTRODUCTION
This assignment is going to be discussing and understanding Buffer solutions. The basic principles
will be looked at in order to go into more depth to understand the biological importance of buffer
solutions and how these solutions are produced as well as how the body is affected by this and the
adjustments made. This extended research task is being conducted to fully understand the use and
main reasons that buffers exist, not just for environmental reasons but also for biochemical reasons.
The scenario that will be looked at is the buffering system inside the human body; the human body
needs buffers in order to stabilize the pH levels to keep everything functioning properly.
A buffer is an aqueous solution that has a generally stable pH level; this means that it can resist pH
changes when small quantities of either an acid or a base are added to that specific buffer solution.
However, each specific buffer has a buffer capacity; this is the amount of an acid or base that can be
added to the buffer solution before the pH dramatically begins to change. However in some cases it
can also be defined as the amount of a strong acid or base that must be added in order to change the
pH levels of one litre of solution by one pH unit. The buffer solution is a result from a weak acid and
conjugate base to form the salt of that acid/ionic compound and water. For a buffer to occur there
needs to be equal numbers of moles for the acid with the hydrogen ions and the base

Music And Romantic Ballads
Friedrich Nietzsche a German philosopher once said that Without music, life would be a mistake . I
agree with that statement because music is very powerful and important in our daily lives. Just
imagine being stressed at school or maybe your crush didn t love you, listening to music can help you
ease your mind and forget about your worries. We all have certain genre of music that we enjoyed
listening to, such as Hip Hop, Classical, Pop , Country , Gospel, Ballad, etc. For me I enjoyed
listening to Romantic Ballad; a poem or song narrating a story in short stanzas, whenever I feel
distress or bitter because it helps me express my true feeling for something I am passionate towards.

I can personally relate to this song because I have been in similar situation where I have been cheated
on and knew about it but did not confront that person. Romantic Ballad is unlike a party music that
you hear in clubs or dance to when it comes on the radio, because they are usually slow in tempo and
build towards a loud and heartwarming sing alone. It often has a refrain , a repeated section that
separates parts of the story being told in a song. Ballads are usually 13 lines and common forms are
ABAB or ABCB repeated in alternating 8 and 6 syllable lines. Ed Sheeran is a famous english

Essay on Rights and Voluntary Euthanasia

Euthanasia Word count 3487
This paper tries to set the issue of voluntary euthanasia in a philosophical framework by showing how
some of the main philosophical theories about morality would deal with the topic. Philosophers have
not discussed euthanasia as such until recently, although it is now a popular topic. What has always
been discussed, however, is suicide, which raises much the same moral problems as voluntary
euthanasia. The moral similarity between voluntary euthanasia and suicide enables us to make a
reasonable guess about what some of the great philosophers would say about ... Show more content on

Terminology is a problem here. Some philosophers confine the term Utilitarianism to the doctrine
expounded in Mill essay of that name, whereby the good consequences are pleasure and the absence
of pain. Others use the term Utilitarianism for Universal Consequentialism in general, since all
versions of this view judge actions by their results their usefulness or utility. I shall adopt this
terminology, which distinguishes different forms of the theory as Hedonistic (pleasure based)
Utilitarianism and Ideal Utilitarianism.
I think that both the Hedonistic and the Ideal Utilitarian would argue that voluntary euthanasia is often
right. The Hedonistic Utilitarian would say that situations often arise in which a person s continued
existence brings more pain than pleasure both to them and to all those who are distressed by their
suffering not to speak of the resources which are being spent on keeping them alive and which would
produce more happiness if used in other ways. The Ideal version of Utilitarianism is even more in tune
with the views of those who advocate the possibility of death with dignity through voluntary
euthanasia. For Ideal Utilitarians can counter the familiar objection to euthanasia that no one who
receives proper expert care need die in pain and distress by saying that the good that they seek is not
mere absence of pain, physical or

Philosophy of Religion
The Cosmological argument argues for the existence of God a posteriori based on the apparent order
in the universe. For Aristotle, the existence of the universe needs an explanation, a cause, as it could
not have come from nothing. Nothing comes from nothing so since there is something, there must
have been some other thing that is its cause. Aristotle rules out an infinite progression of causes, so,
that led to the conclusion that there must be a First Cause. Likewise with motion, there must have
been a first cause; Aristotle calls this the Prime Mover . There is a God, says Aristotle for how else
does motion begin? Whilst this argument does generally offer some support for the existence of God,
it does not prove his existence.
Aquinas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, Hume claimed that it is not possible to prove the existence of a being who is unknowable and
existentially different from all other beings.
A further argument against the cosmological argument is presented by Anthony Kenny. According to
his analysis, the cause of change must possess a property which will initiate the change. For example,
for something to become hot, the thing that causes the change must itself possess the property of heat.
But modern science rejects this argument, for instance, microwaves can generate heat without
themselves being hot. Therefore, it is not foolhardy to argue that the universe exists and as a result of
highly finely tuned probabilities, from simple compounds to what we see today. But still, Descartes
reconstruction of the argument seems to postulate that, the cause of change must possess a property
which will initiate the change, which is in direct conflict with Kenny s point. Yet, Aquinas says Kenny
is not giving a straightforward metaphysical analysis, but an analysis which presumes a standard, and
also doubtful physics.
Overall, the cosmological argument, while making a good attempt to prove the existence of God is
largely unsuccessful chiefly because it makes huge empirical assumptions. Firstly, it assumes that the
world does, in fact, exist. And secondly, we cannot prove that a world exists on the basis of a
posteriori premises, therefore cannot infer from it that it has a cause, and

Pros And Cons Of The Clean Water Act
Moving on, there are some issues with the legislation that has been passed in order to conserve the
water, especially concerning the Clean Water Act. People are having opposition with the rules of the
Clean Water Act. Small business owners feel that this act is restricting the way that they tend to their
property. For example, several farmers use pesticides, herbicides, and other fertilizers to keep harmful
insects and other animals off of their crops, so they can grow properly. These pesticides eventually end
up in our local rivers, lakes, and oceans which are making humans and animals very ill. However, they
make money by the crops they sell, and to them, the Clean Water Act has a very negative economic
impact on them (Landers). Although

Describe The Characteristics Of A Community Of Learners
Describe the characteristics of a community of learners. There are several characteristics of a
community of learners. These characteristics include: Safety: Students know that they are physically
safe and that they are not in danger in the classroom. Safety also includes students emotional and
mental well being, meaning that they will be free from emotional damage such as bulling or name
calling. Respect: The classroom environment is one were respect is a two way street. In this classroom
students respect the teacher and teacher other, while the teacher shows respect to each of the students.
Any differences that students have from one another are respected and dealt will appropriately so that
students feel safe and welcomed into the classroom community. High Expectations: In a community of
learners, expectations are set by the teacher and are something that students must work for. Students
understand that the expectations are achievable but will require hard work. These expectations go
beyond academics and include student behavior. Risk Taking: Teachers promote trying new things and
introduce students to new ideas and activities. Students are encouraged to take risks and gain a higher
level of thinking. Collaboration: In a community of learners, students work together in teams,
partners, or groups. This allows students to gain social skills and increases students motivation for the
project. Students share ideas and gain a new understanding of the content.

Essay about Melting Ice Caps
Melting Ice Caps The Arctic is global warming s canary in the coal mine. It is a highly sensitive area
which is profoundly affected by the changing climate. The average temperature in the Arctic is rising
twice as fast as elsewhere in the world (nrdc.org). Because of this, the ice cap is getting thinner,
melting away, and rupturing. Here is an example of this; the largest ice block in the Arctic, the Ward
Hunt Ice Shelf, had been around for 3000 years before it started cracking in 2000 (nrdc.org) By 2002,
the Ward Hunt has cracked completely through and had started breaking into smaller pieces. The

Generations before us did not take this measure, but maybe our generation should. The melting ice
caps are having a dramatic affect on the polar regions of the earth. For example, the average
temperature in the Arctic is rising twice as fast than the rest of the world (nrdc.org). The once
prominent ice is now melting at a dramatic speed, which is affecting native people, wildlife, and
plants. When the Ward Hunt Ice Shelf splintered, the freshwater lake that it surrounded drained into
the ocean, along with the ecosystem that inhabited it. Polar bears, whales, walrus and seals are
changing their feeding and migration patterns, making it harder for native people to hunt them
(nrdc.org). Because of the flooding, entire villages will be uprooted order to avoid being swamped.
Also, the Arctic coastlines are beginning to move as well. The melting ice caps are threatening the
native peoples cultural identity and their very survival. Ice dependant animals, such as walruses and
ring seals will be greatly affected by the melting ice caps (treehugger.com). They have fewer places to
rest on, as well as fewer places to hunt. If the ice caps keep melting, their lives will become in great
danger. The melting ice caps are not only affecting the Polar Regions, but they are also affecting the
rest of the world as well in the form of rising ocean levels. Melting ice caps are contributing to rising
ocean levels as well.

The Lamp At Noon Summary
A feeling of entrapment caused by the environment may lead to a lack of belonging which may result
in isolation. The feeling of isolation occurs when an individual feels separated from their surroundings
by lack of control. Could an individual overcome isolation? The Lamp at Noon , a short story written

The Success Of A Business Owner
Being an entrepreneur is about believing in something and standing for what you believe in. The
reasons entrepreneurs start businesses is to be successful as well as to make money. No one ever starts
a business with the intent to fail, however if a business does fail most entrepreneurs learn from their
mistakes and try again. The mentality of successful business owner is an I will not lose attitude that
motivates that person to not accept failure as an option.
Having what it takes to survive and succeed is a core value of entrepreneurs, making it your civil duty
to find solutions to problems people face on a daily basis. In my research I think the main objective of
an entrepreneur, is to change the world in a way that will benefit everyone in one way or another. This
is the entrepreneurs right and clear intention to make sure they are operating from a good intent and
integrity. Entrepreneurs that have achieved a pinnacle of success often ask themselves, How can I
help? or better yet you ask yourself, How can I serve? . These are the the main motivating factors an
entrepreneur needs to create a plan of action.
Any entrepreneur that is successful in business has an instinctive ability to see problems and needs
that people have as an opportunity to apply their entrepreneurial capabilities to come up with solutions
and satisfy a person s problems or needs.
Another great example are social media entrepreneurs who

The Case Of Terry Vs Ohio
Ever since 1968 and the Supreme Court case of Terry vs Ohio was settled, stop and frisking policies
have been used by police everywhere in the United States. However, lately the use of this tactic,
especially in New York, has raised the questions of whether or not these stop and frisks are actually
helping as well as the question of whether or not these supposed random stops are unbiased. There
have been a great number of arguments for the continuation of stop and frisk policies as well as the
cease of such tactics to lower the crime rate in cities. In New York, these concerns were first brought
to light in the late 1990 s. Throughout this decade, the huge decrease in crime rates had been credited
to the fact that NYPD had taken the stop and frisk policies very seriously. However, near the end of
the decade there were repeated complaints of harassment of minority communities (Gelman). The
people of New York were complaining that the NYPD were stopping people and treating people
differently based on their ethnic background, which brings up the bigger and more disturbing
question; Were the police stopping minorities based on racial bias? To better look at the history of the
practice of stopping and frisking and how it evolved into what it is today, it would be best to more
fully define when it is ok for police officers to stop and frisk people. According to the 4th
Amendment, it is constitutional for police officers to detain and search people if there is

Equality And The Democratic Republic
Equality and the overall social and economic condition of any country derives from leadership. There
is no such existence as a perfect government; however, institutions such as a democracy or the
republic, as we see in the United States, have come rather close. Our democratic republic has
established a system in which leaders and officials are chosen, directly or indirectly, by the people. In
order to succeed in gaining such a position of power, the ideology a leadership candidate transmits
must be appealing to undoubtedly, many of the general public. With that being said, throughout
history there have existed numerous examples of autocracies systems of government in which there
exists one supreme ruler, or a few people with total control.

The Research problem: African American male students in the 8th grade classrooms and the

more prone to truancy and aggressive behavior in school environment than peers of other races

Deficiencies in Evidence: The study indicates that African American males in the 8th grade

Childhood and Socialisation in Australia Essay
Socialization is the human process of learning to become a member of our society, and how each
individual learns to fit into a group (Jureidini amp; Poole, 2003, p123). Jean Piaget (1896 1980) a
Swiss psychologist described childhood and development in terms of distinct psychological stages and
how these stages influence socialization and enculturation (see Jureidini amp; Poole, 2003, pp124 ¡V
127). Other important theorists to look at are George Herbert Mead (1863 1931) and Lev Vygotsky
(1896 1934).
Agents of Socialization: In Australian culture, socialization occurs through various agents, and due to
Australia being so multicultural and diverse, the importance of each of these agents is different from

„X Religion ¡V In an Australian context, religion holds varied importance in childhood socialization.
For some children, attending church, a mosque or a synagogue with family provides an introduction to
the beliefs, values and morals that are socialized throughout their lives.
Processes of Socialization: There are several ways in which children (and adults for that matter) are
socialized.
„X Trial amp; Error ¡V children learn how to interact appropriately in a social environment by trialing
certain behaviour and gauging its social response. o Eg. When children use manners and are polite,
they are more likely to get what they want. Hence they learn to be polite rather than ask rudely.
Eg. Hitting another child in the playground elicits a negative response from society; the child¡¦s
friends won¡¦t play with him/her anymore.
„X Punishment amp; Reinforcement ¡V Parents and teachers use punishment and reward to socialize
children into conforming to social norms. Do something that is inappropriate by society¡¦s standards
and be punished. Do something correct, and be rewarded. o Eg. Moral conditioning against stealing.

The Development Of A Successful Business Venture...
Abstract:
What is an entrepreneur? Entrepreneurship is the act of being an entrepreneur, which is a French word
meaning one who undertakes an endeavor . Entrepreneurs assemble resources including innovations,
finance and business acumen in an effort to transform innovations into economic goods. This may
result in new organizations or may be part of revitalizing mature organizations in response to a
perceived opportunity or necessity. The most obvious form of entrepreneurship is that of starting new
businesses; however, in recent years, the term has been extended to include social and political forms
of entrepreneurial activity. The purpose of this paper is to find out to what personal values determine
the development of a successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It involves hard work and most are generally workaholics.
Entrepreneurs have a nurturing quality and are willing to take charge of, and watch over a venture
until it can stand alone. They have an acceptance of responsibility. They are morally, legally, and
mentally accountable for their ventures. Some entrepreneurs may be driven more by altruism than by
self interest. They reward orientation and have a desire to achieve, work hard and take responsibility,
but also want to be rewarded for their efforts; rewards can be in forms other than money, such as
recognition and respect. They are optimistic and live by the philosophy that this is the best of times,
and that anything is possible. They have an orientation to excellence and often desire to achieve
something outstanding that they can be proud of. They have strong organization and are good at
bringing together the components of a venture. They want to make a profit; but the profit serves
primarily as a meter to gauge their success and achievement. The demand theory holds that
entrepreneurs emerge out of the combination of entrepreneurial opportunities and people who are well
positioned to take advantage of them. Anyone who encounters the right conditions might become an
entrepreneur, if they find themselves in a position where they find a valuable problem that they alone
can solve. An entrepreneur is a person who

Letter From Birmingham Jail Rhetorical Analysis
In Martin Luther King s A Letter from Birmingham Jail , the rhetorical appeals of kairos, logos and
especially pathos are implied heavily throughout the piece, effectively responding to the absurdity of
the eight clergymen s letter and to the civil disobedience displayed in the racial protests. Over the
course of the letter, MLK makes multiple allusions to ancient philosophers, such as Socrates and
Aquinas, as well as Bible verses and their lessons. King establishes himself as someone who is
educated in the events happening in the community of Birmingham. Providing endless examples of
personal anecdotes and details of the horrific events that he finds upsetting supports his knowledge on
the civil disobedience. We have waited for more than 340 years for our constitutional and God given
rights. (Language Acts!175) MLK s progress embodies respect and dignity, however because of the
emotional appeals he is drawn to fight for the cause, and will not remain inactive.
Martin Luther King relies on his extensive use of pathos to pull sympathy and guilt from the audience,
the clergymen and people of Birmingham. The major moments of pathos in Letter from Birmingham
Jail come in the parts about the suffering of the African American community. In order for MLK s
argument to make sense, he supplied personal anecdotes for the audience to understand why the
situation is unjust. So he gives a vivid picture of what Black Americans had to go through in the
segregated South. ...when you suddenly find your tongue twisted and your speech stammering as you
seek to explain to your six year old daughter why she can t go to the public amusement park that has
just been advertised on television, and see tears welling up in her eyes when she is told that Funtown
is closed to colored children. ( Language Acts!) I find the above section to evoke the most empathy (in
my eyes) because it speaks to the child; the effects of racism and segregation on those too young to
understand. It also opens the eyes as to the bitterness segregation bred in those children to the
clergymen, whom work directly with them and for the children to be told no , to be told you can t , to
be cheated of dreams and hopes, and to be made to feel hopeless. This

in addition to responsible for the deterioration of environment so it should be treated earlier to its

The Cultural World of Jewish Women Explained in Daughters...
The writings of Alicia Ramos González in her work Daughters of Tradition discuss, in great detail, the
cultural world of Jewish women in Eastern Europe during the 16th 19th century. I believe that culture
takes root in ones identity not only as an individual, but also in ones identity with their people and
nation. Based on this belief, I have chosen to focus my explorations on the patterns found in the bases
of Jewish identity among the women in Yiddish culture during this time. Despite the negative impacts
towards gender equality which arose though preventing women from obtaining skills such as learning
Hebrew scripture, the Yiddish heritage has benefitted greatly in part of this gender gap and has
become a cornerstone in the bases of the identity found throughout all Jewish Women.
The first time I read González s work I saw the lack of integration amongst men and women as a
setback; women were not given the same opportunities as men were given during this time. While this
widens the gap in gender equality in respect to opportunities and personal choices, women were not
seen as the inferior sex. After reading a second time I realized that while women s obligations and
responsibilities are different from men s, they are no less important. The equality amongst men and
women in Judaism begins at the highest possible level due to the fact that God is seen as neither a man
nor a woman. He is only referred to as male out of convenience since there are no gender neutral
terms

The Theme Of Individualism By Ralph Waldo Emerson
The theme of individualism is present in several of Ralph Waldo Emerson s works. It was also his
philosophical views on how to live life. He believed that human beings had remarkable capabilities,
more than they can possibly identify. With these capabilities a person should govern themselves, not
be governed by a society. Emerson also believed that nature played a large role in how man should act
and to follow nature s actions of growing without obstruction ( Nature ). This is why he lead the
Transcendentalism movement in the nineteenth century, along with Theodore Parker, Frederic Henry
Hedge, Amos Bronson Alcott, Margaret Fuller and Henry David Thoreau (Lewis). This philosophy
was not only significant then, it was imperative throughout times in history.
Emerson speaks of Americas ability to deviate from the norms set in Europe in one of his formal
speeches given in 1837 on August 31st in Cambridge. It was simply titled The American Scholar
(originally titled: An Oration Delivered before the Phi Beta Kappa Society, at Cambridge,
[Massachusetts,] August 31, 1837). He begins with speaking of how this gathering is distinctive and is
nothing like the ones of the past in Europe. He believes it is time to begin anew as a new country of
people. He believed that the society they were living in were only allowing them to imitate with the
majority and not allow them to be Man Thinking . (Emerson, The American Scholar ). The only way
to reflect on such a high level is to throw

Definition Of Subjectivity Score And Objectivity Score ( Os )
namely, Subjectivity Score (SS) and Objectivity Score (OS) corresponding to Kleinberg s71 hub and
authority scores respectively for the WWW graph. Kleinberg not only takes into account the number
of links to and from a node, but also considers the relevance of linked nodes. Accordingly, if a
resource in RDF is pointed to by a resource with high SS, its OS increases. On the other hand, if a
resource points to a resource with a high OS, its SS is increased. Another important feature of this
method is contextualized weights added into the graph properties. For instance, RDF graphs are
complex with varying importance of properties which in turn depend on the subject and object it is
associated with. The study assigns distinct weights to different types of properties, based on the type
of the property and the nodes it s connecting to. Each property is assigned with a subjectivity weight
(weight that depends on the subject of the property) and an objectivity weight (weight that depends on
the object of the property). These weights play a critical role to calculate the centrality of genes. The
feasibility of this approach in candidate gene prioritization was validated by using to 60 randomly
selected diseases from a total of about 420 cardiovascular disorders with each of the diseases having
clinical synopsis and at least one implicated gene. For validation purposes, no information about any

Testaments Betrayed Analysis
While humans often live life in a duality, with a face they put on for the public and the true character
they show with friends, the private life may easily seep into the public eye. In his piece Testaments
Betrayed, Czech writer Milan Kundera asserts that the curtain between public and private lives is not
to be removed, and those who do so are deplorable voyeurs. Although it is immoral for one to reveal
another s private life, the barrier between public and private lives must be torn down when the public
benefits, whether by the intruder or the individual in question himself. For those declaring the need for
a societal shift in paradigm, leaders of a movement often need to intertwine their personal stories to

An individual s rights are secondary to those of society, which seeks to benefit and advance more. Eric
Garner was fatally choked by NYC police in 2015, prompting the rise of the Black Lives Matter
movement. His last words, I can t breathe, were captured on video and shared millions of times while
he was fading in and out of consciousness. While the bystander capturing the video may have intruded
into his privacy, that moment was a necessary mingling of public and private because it personified
the outrage present in society. In doing so, the bystanders demonstrated to a broad audience the
injustice present in society. The dual nature of an individual s public and private personas also exactly
demonstrates the necessity in breaching personal privacy, for individuals may have a different
personal agenda than the public façade they create. Many colleges now review a student s social
media profiles as a part of the holistic admissions process in order to verify the authenticity of a
student s supposed character. I personally had a friend who was a Big 10 bound athlete have his

received contracts from schools that, in reality, had not extended one. While supposedly a breach in
privacy of the prospective athlete, this step is necessary in the admissions process to ensure that the
team and college in general has a reputable student body. Thus, the curtain of privacy must be torn

Differences Between Two Languages Based On The Languages
Summary The main aim of this report is to highlight differences between two languages based on the
program developed for both the languages. A reader writer program was created in two languages, i.e.
JAVA and PYTHON. The program creates 4 threads each of which performs 5 read/write operations to
the shared location. These threads simulate a coin flip. If the coin flip results in Heads (H) Reading
from the shared location is performed and if the coin flip results in Tails (T) Writing to the shared
memory location is performed. To achieve this concurrency and parallel programming, Semaphores
and Monitor is used. Based on the output of the programs, two languages are then differentiate based
on certain given comparison and evaluation criteria and concluded which of the two chosen languages
is better for concurrency and simultaneously programming. Keywords: Semaphore, Monitor, Reader
Writer, Concurrency, Thread. 1. Introduction Concurrency and Parallel programming in Computer
Science, refers to act of performing several computations simultaneously by interacting with each
other and using the same memory location to perform various operations. Reader Writer is a common
example of concurrency and parallel programming. In this problem, multiple threads access the same

Analysis Of The Giving Tree By Shel Silverstein
In the text The Giving Tree By Shel Silverstein, he wrote about a tree and a boy, which didn t really
mean that he decided to write a book about a boy who received items from a tree, he used the tree to
replace it as someone who loves the little boy. The author wanted to convey an idea of how you should
appreciate the sacrifices the people makes for you. Other people makes sacrifices for you to make you
happy. They are being generous to others. This is what Shel Silverstein wanted to convey through the
book The Giving Tree. You can tell that Shel Silverstein wanted his readers to think of the idea of
appreciating the sacrifices other people makes for you because he continuously write how the tree was
happy when she gave away and made sacrifices to make the boy happy. It made her happy and she
didn t expect anything back from the boy.

What he asked the tree for wasn t what he really what the boy needs, he is asking for what he wants
and not appreciating it. This is evident when the text states, I want to buy things and have fun. I want
some money. It also states, I want a house to keep me warm. I want a wife and I want children. Later
on in the text it states, I want a boat that will take me far away from here. As you can see, what the
boy asks is not out of need, it is out of want and he doesn t do anything that shows the appreciation of
how generous the tree is in giving him what he wants. The author shows that the tree doesn t feel
appreciated by the boys attitude by saying, And the tore was happy... but not really. This shows that
even though the tree was usually always happy when she gave away herself to the boy, this time she w
s still happy because she helped someone but she was a little sad at the way the boy kind of ignored

Arthur Ashe s Influence On African American
Before I begin to talk about Arthur Ashe, I feel that it would be appropriate to talk about what was
going on around the world at the time. One of the reasons why Arthur Ashe was famous was because
he was African American and in that time period, americans found themselves question the ideals of
the country. Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence that all men are created equal
, yet africans were segregated from everything; from schools to water fountains. Africans were treated
like second class citizens even though many of them have brought fame and honor to the country.
Many black athletes would go on to shock the world, including Jesse Owens who would win four gold
medals in the 1936 in Nazi Germany Olympics, and Jackie Robinson who became the first major
league african american baseball player. Among these famous players was Arthur Robert Ashe Jr. ...

was born on July 10th, 1943 in Richmond VA. His father was Arthur Ashe Sr. and his mother was
Mattie Cunningham Ashe. When Ashe was four years old his mother Mattie passed away and Arthur
was left with only his brother, Johnnie Ashe, and his father. Two year later, Arthur Ashe played tennis
for the first time. He like it and started taking lessons from Dr. Walter Johnson and Ronald Charity.
Arthur Ashe would go to win the Junior National Championship in 1960 and 1961. These wins
attracted many colleges, and Arthur was offered a full scholarship from the University of California,
Los Angeles (UCLA). During this time he was selected to be on the US Davis Cup team and for about
10 years he helped the US win in 1963, 1968, 1969. In 1966 Arthur graduated from UCLA with a
degree in business. Immediately he joined the army and was shipped to West Point where he rose to
the rank of second lieutenant from

The Death of Communism
The Death of Communism
The United States longest and bloodiest war was the Vietnam War, which was fought from 1959 until
1975.(Communist Manifesto 1) In this war 57,685 Americans were killed, and their were over 2
million Vietnamese deaths.(Communist Manifesto 3) One of the main causes of the war was a
commonly held American belief called the Domino Theory. This theory stated that if the U.S. allowed
one country to fall to communism, those around it would fall, and then those around it, eventually
taking over the whole world. However, the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 allows to approach
communism in a new light.
The Communist Manifesto has three sections. The first is an outline of the history of the bourgeois and

It states that communist do not form a separate working class party, that they do not have interest
separate from the working class as a whole, and they do not seek to mold the proletarian movement.
Marx states that the distinguishing feature of Communism is not the abolishment of property
generally, but the abolishment of bourgeois property. (Marx 7) Marx is arguing that the capitalist
societies of the time have done away with property for nine tenths of the population already, and the
only way to remove class distinctions is to abolish private property.
The final section of the Communist Manifesto, Marx attacks various countries attempts at socialism
and proclaims that communist disdain to conceal their aims. (Marx 8) He finishes with a call to arms:
Let the ruling classes tremble at a communist revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but
their chains. They have a world to win. Working men of all countries, unite! (Marx 9)
The Communist Manifesto was written in a time when people were starting to realize all the injustices
the industrial revolution and modern industry had created. However, this situation no longer exists.
Gone, are the bourgeois and proletarians; a middle class has risen up; communism has begun to fall.
Marx describes the rise of the bourgeois by saying the place of manufacture was taken by the giant,
Modern Industry, the place of the industrial middle class, by the industrial millionaire, the

  • 2. Off Road Heaven Research Paper Off Road Heaven: Six of the Best Off Road Destinations For some of us, getting enjoyment from our vehicles goes far beyond what the paved urban playground has to offer. We want a challenge. We want a sense of exploration. We want roads, where instead of signs, the terrain itself sets the speed limit. There s just something about that sense of accomplishment every time we complete a new trail or obstacle that makes us want more. Everyone who owns an off road vehicle has their own favorite spot to get away from the concrete jungles. Whether it s a light, relaxing ride down a dirt trail, or total axel snapping carnage though boulders the size of small busses, there are some destinations you cannot allow yourself to pass up. If off roading is your hobby of choice, here are the top six off road trails and parks in the United States that should be on your bucket list. 1. Rubicon Trail, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over twenty four miles of mostly dirt trails can be found here at this popular destination. Available trails range in difficulty from easy to extreme, so there is a little something for everyone here at Hollister Hills. • 3. Grimm Brothers Collective Culture The Grimm brothers lived in a factioned Germany with many different cultures that were struggling to connect with one another. In attempts to help unify Germany the Grimm brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm, traveled throughout the country; listening, collecting, and writing down oral stories and fables from various regions in Germany. They believed that preserving oral culture and stories from various places in Germany would nationalize Germany by having a collective culture rather than many different cultures. With seven total editions and a dictionary, preserving culture and unifying Germany was their life goal. Writing down these oral stories and collecting them assisted in the formation of Germany as a nation rather than multiple different imagined communities. Most nations have a shared common culture and an official language. The Grimm brothers helped usher in an age of oneness in Germany and in doing so, Germany became a more unified nation. At the time that the Grimm brothers were collecting their stories, Germany was many different groups of people, differing by region. They were not what we consider today a nation. A nation is an imagined political community and imagined as both inherently limited and 2 sovereign. (1. • 5. The Benefits Of Education In This Is Water By David Foster... Many high school students have grown jaded with the modern education system, sitting for hours in a classroom almost every day having seemingly useless information crammed into their brains. At some point, the curiosity died and left behind the average student of today. Most people will agree that a change must occur within the way the youth receives an education; however, fewer people have touched on the concept that the students must change their mindsets as well. They must all look beyond the surface level education that teachers tend to focus on and understand what more they can gain. Throughout David Foster Wallace s speech This is Water, Wallace primarily employs didactic little parable ish stories along with hyperbolic examples to enforce the idea that the true benefits of education come from learning simple awareness rather than knowledge. Almost immediately, Wallace inserts the opening to the story that gives his speech a title, speaking about two young fish that eventually come across an an older fish who asks them the oddly perplexing question of how s the water? . He then goes on to explain that somehow, the fish do not understand the obvious fact that they live in the water, it surrounds them. This story serves as an introduction to the point Wallace hopes to give his audience, that a liberal arts education is not so much about filling you up with knowledge as it is about quote teaching you how to think. The speaker then prompts his audience to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Discuss And Understanding Buffer Solutions INTRODUCTION This assignment is going to be discussing and understanding Buffer solutions. The basic principles will be looked at in order to go into more depth to understand the biological importance of buffer solutions and how these solutions are produced as well as how the body is affected by this and the adjustments made. This extended research task is being conducted to fully understand the use and main reasons that buffers exist, not just for environmental reasons but also for biochemical reasons. The scenario that will be looked at is the buffering system inside the human body; the human body needs buffers in order to stabilize the pH levels to keep everything functioning properly. A buffer is an aqueous solution that has a generally stable pH level; this means that it can resist pH changes when small quantities of either an acid or a base are added to that specific buffer solution. However, each specific buffer has a buffer capacity; this is the amount of an acid or base that can be added to the buffer solution before the pH dramatically begins to change. However in some cases it can also be defined as the amount of a strong acid or base that must be added in order to change the pH levels of one litre of solution by one pH unit. The buffer solution is a result from a weak acid and conjugate base to form the salt of that acid/ionic compound and water. For a buffer to occur there needs to be equal numbers of moles for the acid with the hydrogen ions and the base ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Terminology is a problem here. Some philosophers confine the term Utilitarianism to the doctrine expounded in Mill essay of that name, whereby the good consequences are pleasure and the absence of pain. Others use the term Utilitarianism for Universal Consequentialism in general, since all versions of this view judge actions by their results their usefulness or utility. I shall adopt this terminology, which distinguishes different forms of the theory as Hedonistic (pleasure based) Utilitarianism and Ideal Utilitarianism. I think that both the Hedonistic and the Ideal Utilitarian would argue that voluntary euthanasia is often right. The Hedonistic Utilitarian would say that situations often arise in which a person s continued existence brings more pain than pleasure both to them and to all those who are distressed by their suffering not to speak of the resources which are being spent on keeping them alive and which would produce more happiness if used in other ways. The Ideal version of Utilitarianism is even more in tune with the views of those who advocate the possibility of death with dignity through voluntary euthanasia. • 15. Philosophy of Religion The Cosmological argument argues for the existence of God a posteriori based on the apparent order in the universe. For Aristotle, the existence of the universe needs an explanation, a cause, as it could not have come from nothing. Nothing comes from nothing so since there is something, there must have been some other thing that is its cause. Aristotle rules out an infinite progression of causes, so, that led to the conclusion that there must be a First Cause. Likewise with motion, there must have been a first cause; Aristotle calls this the Prime Mover . There is a God, says Aristotle for how else does motion begin? Whilst this argument does generally offer some support for the existence of God, it does not prove his existence. Aquinas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, Hume claimed that it is not possible to prove the existence of a being who is unknowable and existentially different from all other beings. A further argument against the cosmological argument is presented by Anthony Kenny. According to his analysis, the cause of change must possess a property which will initiate the change. For example, for something to become hot, the thing that causes the change must itself possess the property of heat. But modern science rejects this argument, for instance, microwaves can generate heat without themselves being hot. Therefore, it is not foolhardy to argue that the universe exists and as a result of highly finely tuned probabilities, from simple compounds to what we see today. But still, Descartes reconstruction of the argument seems to postulate that, the cause of change must possess a property which will initiate the change, which is in direct conflict with Kenny s point. Yet, Aquinas says Kenny is not giving a straightforward metaphysical analysis, but an analysis which presumes a standard, and also doubtful physics. Overall, the cosmological argument, while making a good attempt to prove the existence of God is largely unsuccessful chiefly because it makes huge empirical assumptions. Firstly, it assumes that the world does, in fact, exist. And secondly, we cannot prove that a world exists on the basis of a posteriori premises, therefore cannot infer from it that it has a cause, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, lately the use of this tactic, especially in New York, has raised the questions of whether or not these stop and frisks are actually helping as well as the question of whether or not these supposed random stops are unbiased. There have been a great number of arguments for the continuation of stop and frisk policies as well as the cease of such tactics to lower the crime rate in cities. In New York, these concerns were first brought to light in the late 1990 s. Throughout this decade, the huge decrease in crime rates had been credited to the fact that NYPD had taken the stop and frisk policies very seriously. However, near the end of the decade there were repeated complaints of harassment of minority communities (Gelman). The people of New York were complaining that the NYPD were stopping people and treating people differently based on their ethnic background, which brings up the bigger and more disturbing question; Were the police stopping minorities based on racial bias? To better look at the history of the practice of stopping and frisking and how it evolved into what it is today, it would be best to more fully define when it is ok for police officers to stop and frisk people. • 31. Letter From Birmingham Jail Rhetorical Analysis In Martin Luther King s A Letter from Birmingham Jail , the rhetorical appeals of kairos, logos and especially pathos are implied heavily throughout the piece, effectively responding to the absurdity of the eight clergymen s letter and to the civil disobedience displayed in the racial protests. Over the course of the letter, MLK makes multiple allusions to ancient philosophers, such as Socrates and Aquinas, as well as Bible verses and their lessons. King establishes himself as someone who is educated in the events happening in the community of Birmingham. Providing endless examples of personal anecdotes and details of the horrific events that he finds upsetting supports his knowledge on the civil disobedience. We have waited for more than 340 years for our constitutional and God given rights. (Language Acts!175) MLK s progress embodies respect and dignity, however because of the emotional appeals he is drawn to fight for the cause, and will not remain inactive. Martin Luther King relies on his extensive use of pathos to pull sympathy and guilt from the audience, the clergymen and people of Birmingham. The major moments of pathos in Letter from Birmingham Jail come in the parts about the suffering of the African American community. In order for MLK s argument to make sense, he supplied personal anecdotes for the audience to understand why the situation is unjust. So he gives a vivid picture of what Black Americans had to go through in the segregated South. ...when you suddenly find your tongue twisted and your speech stammering as you seek to explain to your six year old daughter why she can t go to the public amusement park that has just been advertised on television, and see tears welling up in her eyes when she is told that Funtown is closed to colored children. ( Language Acts!) I find the above section to evoke the most empathy (in my eyes) because it speaks to the child; the effects of racism and segregation on those too young to understand. It also opens the eyes as to the bitterness segregation bred in those children to the clergymen, whom work directly with them and for the children to be told no , to be told you can t , to be cheated of dreams and hopes, and to be made to feel hopeless. • 38. The Cultural World of Jewish Women Explained in Daughters... The writings of Alicia Ramos González in her work Daughters of Tradition discuss, in great detail, the cultural world of Jewish women in Eastern Europe during the 16th 19th century. I believe that culture takes root in ones identity not only as an individual, but also in ones identity with their people and nation. Based on this belief, I have chosen to focus my explorations on the patterns found in the bases of Jewish identity among the women in Yiddish culture during this time. Despite the negative impacts towards gender equality which arose though preventing women from obtaining skills such as learning Hebrew scripture, the Yiddish heritage has benefitted greatly in part of this gender gap and has become a cornerstone in the bases of the identity found throughout all Jewish Women. The first time I read González s work I saw the lack of integration amongst men and women as a setback; women were not given the same opportunities as men were given during this time. While this widens the gap in gender equality in respect to opportunities and personal choices, women were not seen as the inferior sex. After reading a second time I realized that while women s obligations and responsibilities are different from men s, they are no less important. The equality amongst men and women in Judaism begins at the highest possible level due to the fact that God is seen as neither a man nor a woman. He is only referred to as male out of convenience since there are no gender neutral terms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Theme Of Individualism By Ralph Waldo Emerson The theme of individualism is present in several of Ralph Waldo Emerson s works. It was also his philosophical views on how to live life. He believed that human beings had remarkable capabilities, more than they can possibly identify. With these capabilities a person should govern themselves, not be governed by a society. Emerson also believed that nature played a large role in how man should act and to follow nature s actions of growing without obstruction ( Nature ). This is why he lead the Transcendentalism movement in the nineteenth century, along with Theodore Parker, Frederic Henry Hedge, Amos Bronson Alcott, Margaret Fuller and Henry David Thoreau (Lewis). This philosophy was not only significant then, it was imperative throughout times in history. Emerson speaks of Americas ability to deviate from the norms set in Europe in one of his formal speeches given in 1837 on August 31st in Cambridge. It was simply titled The American Scholar (originally titled: An Oration Delivered before the Phi Beta Kappa Society, at Cambridge, [Massachusetts,] August 31, 1837). He begins with speaking of how this gathering is distinctive and is nothing like the ones of the past in Europe. He believes it is time to begin anew as a new country of people. Definition Of Subjectivity Score And Objectivity Score ( Os ) namely, Subjectivity Score (SS) and Objectivity Score (OS) corresponding to Kleinberg s71 hub and authority scores respectively for the WWW graph. Kleinberg not only takes into account the number of links to and from a node, but also considers the relevance of linked nodes. Accordingly, if a resource in RDF is pointed to by a resource with high SS, its OS increases. On the other hand, if a resource points to a resource with a high OS, its SS is increased. Another important feature of this method is contextualized weights added into the graph properties. For instance, RDF graphs are complex with varying importance of properties which in turn depend on the subject and object it is associated with. The study assigns distinct weights to different types of properties, based on the type of the property and the nodes it s connecting to. Each property is assigned with a subjectivity weight (weight that depends on the subject of the property) and an objectivity weight (weight that depends on the object of the property). These weights play a critical role to calculate the centrality of genes.
