The Benefits Of Technology-Assisted Psychological Services
Technology Assisted Psychological Services Telepsychology, using telecommunication channels to
provide psychological services, is becoming more a conventional practice in the field of
psychology due to the advancement of technology and the opportunities that advancement presents
(APA, 2013). Telepsychology has a number of benefits, as well as some limitations and risks,
when compared with traditional provisions of psychological services. The provision of services
through these channels also poses some ethical considerations for psychologists. Benefits and
Concerns Telepsychology allows for the remote access to psychological services. Because of this
remote access, individuals who once had limited or no access to mental health services... Show

Ethical Considerations The APA (2013), in collaboration with the ASPPB and the APAIT,
developed the Guidelines for the Practice of Telepsychology . These guidelines provide encouraged
suggestions for psychologists providing telepsychological services. The guidelines address
competency, standard of care, informed consent, confidentiality, security of information, disposal of
data, testing and assessment, and interjurisdictional practice (APA, 2013). Psychological providers
have an ethical responsibility to only provide services for which they have the appropriate training,
education or experience in which they have become competent. In practicing only when competent,
psychologists can assure that they are maintaining their ethical duties and providing appropriate
care for the client. To maintain appropriate standards of care, it is advised that providers follow
best practices in determining the appropriateness of telepsychological interventions for their clients
(APA, 2013). When telepsychological interventions are implemented, psychologists are advised to
follow guidelines relating to the provision of services. When it is determined that telepsychological
services are appropriate, it is the provider s responsibility to inform the client of the risks associated
with these types of services. Informed consent raises particular difficulties for telepsychological
services due to the difficulties in explaining the process and interventions to the client, obtaining and

Ginga Eiyuu (Legend Of The Galactic Heroes
Crafting a masterful anime is similar to cultivating a delicate flower, it requires a willingness to
accept circumstances the way they are, and not the way we wish them to be. Lithops, a flower with
a low dependence on water, can have their skins burst if they are oversaturated with excess liquids.
In the same breath, an animethat strives for over the top action sequences (e.g. run of the mill
Shounen anime) but neglects the political, economic, and social struggles that accompany those
events, falsely establishes a dichotomous situation that rarely, if ever, exists. The original Ginga
Eiyuu Densetsu (Legend of the Galactic Heroes) understood these concepts extremely well, taking
every opportunity it could to flesh out characters, explore pertinent historical events, and question
the role(s) of government and its people. If it were required to sum up the original series in one
word, it would be: methodical. Nothing ever felt rushed, hurried, or crammed down our throats.
Everything blossomed from the seeds of past events. And while the outcomes may, or may not,
have been what we had expected, it all blended into a larger political narrative that is relevant
today, and, I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

however, the episode only dedicated two minutes to the documentary styled recap of the war
between the two powerhouses. In the original series, an entire episode was dedicated towards this
recap, and it occurred much later on. Not saying that I did not enjoy the presentation of the
material in this manner, but it felt like the meticulous gradualness of the original series might be
interchanged for a more robust paced narrative in the The New Thesis. Luckily, this was not the
case. As the series seems to have found its rightful mode of delivery: languid

Mental Illness In Godwin s A Sorrowful Woman
In Godwin s story A Sorrowful Woman , the mother has a series of very complex feelings and
emotions. From the story, it can be inferred that this is a woman with a sudden onset of mental
illness, a woman who has lost her identity and sense of belonging; and a woman who is
consciously aware of all this, knowing she is a burden to her loved ones.
This mother shows signs of her mental illness almost right off the bat, when, after looking at her
son, she began yelping without tears, retching in between (39). The onset of this illness appears
to be very sudden. The story begins with One winter evening she looked at them....the sight of
them made her so sad and sick she did not want to see them ever again (39). It seems as if just
one evening she suddenly begins to feel this way. When the son says, It s alright Mommy (39),
causing the father to respond Mommy is sick (39), shows that the father did not have time to
explain this to the son any time before. There is no evidence given in the story as to what caused
her mental illness, though we can infer that the onset was quite sudden. Throughout the story, the
woman is never identified, only being referred to as the woman (40). So we never have a sense of
her identity outside of the fact that she is a wife and a mother with a mental illness. She also tries to
find herself and her identity. She was a young queen, a virgin in a tower, she was the previous
inhabitant, the girl with all the energies. She tried these

Quarrel Between Creationists And Evolutionists

The Beginning of Everything
Humanity s faith in God reeled when after years of creation going uncontested Sir Charles Darwin
introduced his theory about the origins of species and evolution. From this two groups emerged;
evolutionists, who believe that modern day life forms evolved from smaller and more primitive
organisms, and creationists, who continued to believe that everything was created by a higher
power. Each side produced credible arguments, but at the same time, the counter arguments where
just as substantial. Because of this, the quarrel between evolutionists and creationists is far from
ending. But one should never base their beliefs on the status quo. To choose one s belief... Show

To be the place where the falling angel meets the rising ape. The two theories of creation and
evolution often support each other despite the fact that the two groups seem to always be at
odds. Most Cosmologists believe that the universe began about thirteen point seven billion years
ago, in an event called the big bang. Theoretical physicist, Nobel laureate in physics, and atheist
Steven Weinberg describes the beginning of the universe; in the beginning there was an
explosion, within three minutes ninety eight percent of the matter that was or ever would be
was created. (Weinberg) For twenty five hundred years scientists agreed with Aristotle that the
universe was a steady state with no beginning and no end. The bible disagreed with that. Theist
astronomer George Lemaitre was the first scientist to figure out the basics of the beginning of
the universe, and led to the theory of the big bang . He explained the description of the big bang,
a sudden explosion of light coming from seemingly nothing, is exactly what he would expect if
God gave the command found in Genesis 1:3 let there be light. (King James Bible, Genesis. 1:3)
while some prefer to hold their belief of either creation or evolution without acknowledging the
other side, some choose to believe both. That a higher power simply made the possibility of life
and then that life developed on its own from there. Fossil findings, complexity, and the

The stronger kings would dominate over the weaker ones and require the weaker societies to
pay tribute to the stronger one by providing goods or services. The kings would place a tax on
citizens of their state to help pay for building of monuments, palaces and public works like ball
fields. In addition, to imposing tax the king would also control all trade. The king would
determine which products would be traded to other cities and which products he would hold
back from his own people. This type of control would allow the king to raise his status within his
city. Overall, the Mayan economy was sophisticated. It developed a specialized system of
merchants and trade routes between cities. While the invention of minted money did not exists the
Mayans bought goods by trading greenstone beads, cacao beans, and copper bells. This of course

Creon s Character In Antigone By Sophocles
Pride is the parent of destruction (The Wolf Gift). In Creon s case, it engendered a divided
kingdom, broken family, and his eventual demise. Within the play Antigone by Sophocles, Creon s
character is developed through his various interactions with other characters. His growth and tragic
flaws are revealed because of certain relationships, such as those with Antigone, Tiresias, and more
importantly, Haemon. Haemon is the son of Creonand Eurydice, engaged to be married to Antigone.
Throughout the play, he serves as a spokesman for justice, defending the moral basis of Antigone s
actions while warning his father of the people s sympathizing with Antigone. Haemon s interactions

It wasn t only presented with his interactions with the other characters, but even more when he
spoke to his son. Haemon attempts to calmly appeal to the opinion of the people, explaining,
Because of who you are, you can t perceive all the things men say or do or their complaints
(Sophocles 781 782). Creon s arrogance is what causes him to be so blind towards the opinion
of the people. He believes that above all else, he knows what s best and his decisions are
supreme in comparison to that of his subjects, stating, Am I to rule this land at someone else s
whim or by myself? (Sophocles 836 837). Although Haemon countlessly tries to plead with his
father against the horrific murder of Antigone, he feels threatened and only resorts to rage and
defiance. He can t bear the thought that anyone could possibly know how to rule the kingdom
better than he. In addition, Creon sheds his true colors when Haemon says, A city which belongs
to just one man is no true city (Sophocles 838 839). Creon feels threatened and tries to blame
Haemon for siding with a woman, instead of realizing that his own arrogance is what has caused
the people to side with Antigone. Creon found it conventional for him, a father to advise his son,
and not vice versa. After Creon points out Haemon s speaking on Antigone s behalf, Haemon adds,

European Exploration Essay
What is now called the European Exploration is a period in the sixteenth and seventeenth century
when explores went out to search for new land and trading routes. Factors such as economic,
political, and cultural were the causes of the exploration. Before exploration in Europe, they
experienced the Black Death. The Black Death was a bubonic plaguecause by the spread of
bacteria. The plaguekilled up to 30 to 60 percent of Europe s population. After the Black Death
Europe experienced a renewal of population and economic activity. The demand for luxuries, most

In 718 to 1492 there was a battle between the Christian Kingdoms and the Muslim Moors for
control of the Iberian Peninsula. The Christian Reconquista brought passion and energy to
Europe and encouraged them to continue the Christian crusade. Oversees exploration was the
main way to reach the non Christian territories. In addition, eagerness for exploration was
increased by a lack of opportunity at home. Due to the Reconquista, many Spanish men of the
upper classes found their opportunities greatly limited. The men looked to the sea for advanced
fortunes. None of these voyages would be able to be taken place if not for the government, who
funded all of them. The Spanish monarchy was stronger than previously so it was in a place to
be able to support foreign endeavors. Monarchies had many motivations to expand one of them
including, being able to profit from trade. Also monarchies had the desire to please God, which
would be fulfilled by exploring new lands and converting them to Christianity. Finally, the
competition between the monarchies and Protestant and Catholic states was an important factor
in the steady stream of expedition. The European age of Exploration made a big impact to Europe,
from gaining new land and becoming a part of a trade network. To explain his motives, a

darkness and to grow rich as all men desire to

Alzheimer s A Progressive Neurodegenerative Disease
Alzheimer s is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that steadily destroys the memory and other
important mental functions such as social skills, intellect, and memory (4).
Although the exact cause of Alzheimer s is not known, most cases of the disease are caused by
genetic mutations passed from the parent to the child (1). There are several genes associated
with Alzheimer s one in particular is apolipoprotein E (1). The presence of one or more of these
genes does not necessarily mean that the person will develop Alzheimer s however; it does
increase the risk (5). Several environmental factors and lifestyle choices responsible for damage to
blood vessels in the brain also contribute to the development of the disease (4). These factors
include, past trauma to the head, cardiovascular disease, smoking, diabetes, or a poor diet (4).
Cognitive impairment associated with Alzheimer s disease occurs when synapses, which transmit
information from one neuron to another, become interrupted and communication ceases (7). The
result is death of the nerve cell within the brain, also referred to as synaptic failure (6). Synaptic
failure takes place when amyloid plaque and neurofibrillary tangles develop (7). Amyloid plaque
develops from amyloid beta proteins, which are released by enzymes from the amyloid precursor
protein that is located on the surface of the neuron (7). The amyloid beta proteins are normally
cleared within the body once they are released however, in

Spies Monologue
I was born in an immense castle that belonged to the royal family in England. My parents, John
and Sarah, were some of the kindest people that anyone could ever meet. I also had a brother who
the country loved while they hated me. My father was the Monarch so he did many things which
caused me to not see him much. I grew up a spoiled and ungrateful individual. When I was 16, I
planned to murdermy father so I wouldn t have to wait until he died to take the throne. One night, I
slipped some poisonous mushrooms into his lamb that he was having for dinner. He experienced
agony all throughout the night until he finally perished. The whole country mourned his loss while
I celebrated.
The next day, I took the throne. I ruled for three months without an issue, then one of my advisors
complained. He was my father s greatest adviser and served my father since the beginning. He
stated, You need to do something for this country. You should share your money as well as trying to
help the people.

Growing up in the red state of Kansas, I naturally gravitated towards the republican party, and it

alternative one. Fox News pundits, conservative bloggers, and God fearing Christians, all
informed me that the Democratic party was a party full of lazy anti Americans who wanted to
raise taxes because they chose living off the government instead of taking personal responsibility
to achieve their goals in life. They also told me that the party was full of libtards, idiots,

But then something happened. I don t really know how to articulate what occurred, but I can
only refer to it as a moment of existential disruption. This disruption triggered something in me
that said, I need to reevaluate everything I think and know. So, I began to reflect on what I
believed about the world, as well as the methods I used for acquiring information about it. After
a few years of deep thinking and extensive research, I reached many conclusions that differ from
what I originally thought and believed. I believe that it s important to challenge the beliefs and
opinions held about the world. The reasons for challenging opinions and beliefs about the world
are numerous. One reason, for example, is that when people holding different views engage in
discussion, the opportunity to sharpen critical thinking skills is created, which are essential for
every area of life. However, it s not within the scope of this blog series to delineate every reason,
just to cover what I believe to be the most imperative. I believe it s important to challenge beliefs
and opinions held about the world because they shape how we live in it. During the beginning of
President Obama s first term, conservative pundits propounded a great deal of anti Obama rhetoric,
with one of the chief claims being that he was anti American, and therefore wanted to destroy the

Columbia River Tribe
For more than 10,000 years the Native American people of the Columbia River region,
specifically the Cayuse, Walla Walla and Umatilla Indian tribes, migrated in a yearly cyclical
pattern. The tribes would travel from the lowlands of the Columbia River to the highlands in the
Blue Mountains in search of safety, shelter, food, opportunities for trade and resources of energy.
The most abundant sources of food included elk, deer, salmon, berries and roots. Each of the
aforementioned food sources were spread throughout different locales and thus required a continued
pattern of movement, place to place from season to season, to collect each target food.
Accumulated meats, berries and roots would be stored for the year to come, and to last through...

Globalization Nation-State
Globalization is the process through which events and decisions in one part of the world have
come to affect people in another part of the world and therefore have led to greater inter locking of
different parts of the world. It has often been claimed that globalization poses challenges about the
validity of the concept of the nationstate. Some believe that because of liberalization and
globalization, the need of nation state or the concept of sovereigntywithin the nation state has
diminished. I strongly disagree with this statement and therefore will like to prove my point in the
upcoming paragraphs.
According to Grotius, Sovereignty is the supreme political power vested in him whose acts are
not subject to any other and whose will cannot be over ridden . It shows that Sovereignty is the
exclusive, all comprehensive or universal, inalienable, permanent and indivisible power of the
state. Furthermore, the concept of the nation state is well defined by Grossberg. He claims that
nation state is one which provides some securities to people such as physical security, economic
and social security. He went further that the nation state also means that sovereign is under control
of its own leadership or people, but not under control of some other external aspects. Therefore
nation state is identified as a political community in which the country has the power to set its own
laws in order to make sure that its territorial autonomy is integrated and political sovereignty is not

impact it has made in people s lives is larger. As a student, I have to use a pen in my everyday

In the sectioned of the pamphlet entitled Superiority of mixed races , Brazil was believed to be a
country where the people were miscegenated, to further support the idea of mixing in the United
States. However, the attitudes of race mixing in both countries were significantly different. Brazil
has always been a black and mixed blood populated society, whereas the United States had always
been white blood dominated compared to its black population. This paper will compare the
differences of race mixing in the United States and Brazil after the American Civil War.
First and foremost, it is important to differentiate the perception of black and white race mixing
in both the United States and Brazil. In the United States, the offspring produced between blacks
and whites are considered black. However, the status of a child produced by a white mother is
typically reflected by the status of the mother. Degler revealed that, From this perspective, the
most feared combination in unions between blacks and whites was the one in which the white
women married a black men . This is because during slavery, when a slave owner would
impregnate his female slaves, the children of the slave would also become a slave, but if the
mother is white, it is very unlikely that the child would become a slave. Consequently in Brazil, due
to larger acceptance range of race mixing, the descendants of an African and European relation

Scalia Textualism Analysis
There are many forms of constitutional interpretation, including constructionism, originalism,
balancing, precedent, and reliance on foreign law and courts. The late Justice Antonin Scalia was a
close adherer to the doctrine known as textualism. A textualist seeks to look at the actual text and
then examine the meaning of the text based on original intent and other criteria. Scalia s approach
to legal interpretation has garnered praise from many sources. Justice Elena Kagan said of Scalia s
approach, that his views on textualism and originalism, his views on the role of judges in our
society, on the practice of judging, have really transformed the terms of legal debate in this country.

Planned Parenthood Vs Casey Case Summary
Planned parenthood V Casey: An abortion law required informed consent as well as a 24 hour
waiting period prior to any abortion procedure in Pennsylvania. Any married woman had to state
that her husband was in fact knowledgeable of this intention. Additionally, any minor seeking an
abortion requires the consent of a parent. These laws were challenged by many clinics specializing
in abortion, as well as many doctors. An appellate court upheld all of these stipulations with the
exclusion of the married woman.
The question of this case is regarding a states ability to require women seeking an abortion wait 24
hours, have consent, or parental consent. Is a state allowed to make these rules without infringing
on the rights to abortion, as given in Roe V Wade?
The holding of this case is that the Pennsylvania provisions are upheld, and a new standard was
made. Roe was reaffirmed and states have to determine the validity of each law put in place to
restrict any abortion.
This majority states that the Pennsylvania provisions were in fact just. There was a new standard
implemented in determining whether it is valid for states to restrict these abortion laws. This is in
regards to whether a state abortion regulation has the intent of imposing a burden or substantial
boundary or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

List And Describe Several Pathogens That Can Cause...
1.List and describe several pathogens that can cause gastroenteritis in children. Rotavirus: is a
common cause of gastroenteritis in infants and young children. Rotavirus is a non enveloped,
double shelled virus with a double stranded RNA genome. The virus is capable of infecting the
epithelial cells of small intestine, leading to decrease in production of digestive enzymes and
cell death. As a result of epithelial cells damage, the absorption of fluids by small intestine is
interrupted which leads to watery diarrhea. [1] Salmonella enterica: is a member of the
Enterobacteriacecae family, a rod shape Gram negative bacterium. After passage through the
gastric acid barrier, S. enterica binds tightly to specific receptors of the epithelial cells in small
intestine. The receptor interaction activates a cellular response results in transfer of bacterial
effector proteins into the epithelial cell, following by uptake of bacterial cell by endocytosis.
Invasion of epithelial cells induce an inflammatory response that increases the fluid secretion of
epithelial cells, causing diarrhea. [2] Giardia lamblia: is a pear shaped, flagellated protozoan, with
two nuclei. The pathogen may exist as trophozoite (enable to feed, grow and cause disease) and as
a dormant cyst, with thick, highly resistant walls composed of chitin like polysaccharide that help
the organism remain viable outside the host body for long periods. Due to this characteristic, is the

A Black Man Talks Of Reaping By Countee Cullen
Alienation of Individuals
Many individuals are often alienated from society. One of many causes can be the racism of
African Americans. The alienation caused by racism can affect individuals and society. Due to
their race, they were discriminated and led to racial inequality. This can all be depicted in Incident
by Countee Cullen, A Black Man Talks of Reaping by Arna Bontemps, and We Wear the Mask by
Paul Laurence Dunbar. In Incident , a young African Americanis called a racial slur because of her
physical appearance. Also, A Black Man Talks of Reaping , describes how a black man is
discriminated and face racial inequality. Lastly, in We Wear the Mask shows how blacks had to
hide their true identity because they were colored and did not fit in society. In all three text of
Cullen, Bontemps, and Dunbar all show how racism can make an individual feel alienated. In the
poem, Incident by Countee Cullen , he looks back at a moment of his life that he encounters
racism. Racism causes individuals to become alienated. He was a young Baltimorean and sees a
boy staring at him. He says, I was eight and very small, / And he was no whit bigger, / And so I
smiled, but he poked out/ His tongue and called me, Nigger . (Cullen 5 18)To explain, he uses
imagery to show he was called a racial slur just because of his appearance. This is also important
because this demonstrates how racism can start at a young age, he was no whit bigger than him
when he was eight.

Oppression In Miss Julie, By August Strindberg
Oppression. Criticism. Subjection. Life during the nineteenth century contained harsh gender roles
and ironhanded social hierarchies. Men and women were polar opposites of each other and
numerous double standards existed. Each social class kept to themselves and fraternizing between
the upper class and lower class resulted in social pariahs. However, towards the end of the
nineteenth century high class women began to demand equal treatment. To lower class men, this
demand proved offensive and received heavy opposition. These lower class men, such as August
Strindberg , despised women who sought power and termed them degenerate women. In Strindberg
s play, Miss Julie, he illustrates the danger of attempting to defy gender and social roles... Show

The column she climbs symbolizes culture and how her birth predetermined her social stature.
Julie knows that due to the height of this column, if she falls she can never regain her place in
the upper class. Nonetheless, she still wishes to fall from her high social position despite the
dire consequences that will ensue. Strindberg includes Julie s dream because it is crucial to
understanding her own demise and foreshadows her fate in the play. He employs this symbol in
order to demonstrate that Julie s resistance to social order ultimately causes her own death.
Additionally, throughout the play Jean and Julie both fear the bell that hangs in the kitchen.
Whenever the count returns from a trip he rings the bell, reinforcing the strict social order. To
Jean and Julie the bell represents the oppression of the classes and the strict role they both must
play in society. At the end of the play after Julie had sex with Jean, Julie frantically tries to
decide if she should run away or stay. The guilt and shame of her actions consume her and the
societal implications of her actions prove too much for her to handle. After much debate
between Julie and Jean about her predicament, Jean yells, To be scared of a bell! Yes, but it isn t
only the bell there is somebody behind it... Two quick rings from the bell...It s horrid! But there s
no other end to it! Go [Miss Julie]! (36). Ultimately, the count and the significance of his
presence were too hard for Julie to endure, so she commits suicide. The bell serves as a reminder
for Julie, its symbolism and magnitude emphasize Julie s betrayal and her fall. Even though Julie
desired to join the lower class, the implications of her actions grew too great to cope with.
Strindberg uses the bell as a cautionary symbol to demonstrate that we cannot escape from society.
The bell is ever present throughout the story symbolizing that

The Shoemaker and the Tea Party
The Shoemaker and the Tea Party by Alfred Young revolves around two bibliographies written
about one of the last living participants of the Boston Tea Party, and the authors own interpretations
of the events surrounding the Tea Party and the American Revolution as a whole. In this particular
novel, Young explores what it means to rediscover history, and how history is continually redefined.
Particular attention in the novel is given to public history, and how highlighting people otherwise
lost to time can completely change how an event is perceived. Readers are given the opportunity to
see the history behind the American Revolutionthrough the lenses of an average man of that time.

Young also makes reference to some of the countless books he serendipitously came across in his
research surrounding the American Revolution, and the event that would come to be known as the
Boston Tea Party. Young pulls from his large selection of evidence to make his points throughout
the novel.
In order to understand Hewes, Young delved into the psychology of memory and references noted
psychologist Daniel Schachter. (xiii.) By understanding why someone remembers an event in a
particular way, gives insight into how memories are consolidated. Hewes memory for a man is
age is remarkable to say the least. The emotion tied to a particular memory is able to enhance it
(xii). Young seems to use this evidence to lend creditability to the way that Hewes remembers
particular events such as the Boston Massacre. At the same time, Young explores while Hewes
would be able to remember more during the interviews for the second bibliography written about
him. Young implies that the first interview essentially helped to focus Hewes memory which
allowed him to remember more easily with Thatcher in his second interview as well as
remembering new anecdotes.
The first portion of the novel deals mostly with Hewes life and why he lived the life that he did.
Young s portrayal of a young Hewes, ever defiant, immediately causes a reader to reminisce of his
or her own childhood. It soon becomes evidently clear that where one ended up in life depended

Under Western Eyes by Mohanty
In this text Mohanty argues that contemporary western feminist writing on Third World women
contributes to the reproduction of colonial discourses where women in the South are represented as
an undifferentiated other . Mohanty examines how liberal and socialist feminist scholarship use
analytics strategies that creates an essentialist construction of the category woman, universalist
assumptions of sexist oppression and how this contributes to the perpetuation of colonialist
relations between the north and south(Mohanty 1991:55). She criticises Western feminist discourse
for constructing the third world woman as a homogeneous powerless and vulnerable group, while
women in the North still represent the modern and liberated woman... Show more content on

She makes an important point when trying to go beyond the female (otherness), by paying careful
attention to differences among women themselves, and by putting emphasize on the multiple
realties that women faces, and by that trying to uncover universalist interpretations (Parpart and
Marchand 1995:6). She reveals the inadequacy of binary categories by showing us how power is
defined in binary terms, between the people who have (men) and the people who do not (women).
This is a consequence of seeing women as a homogenous group, and contributes to the
reinforcement of the binary division between men and women (Mohanty 1991:64). By assuming
that women are a already constituted group with the same experiences and interests, gender is
looked upon as something that can be applied cross cultures (Mohanty 1991:54), and it also
produces an assumption about the average third world woman as poor and uneducated, in contrast
to the educated, modern Western women (Mohanty 1991:56). Implicit in the binary analytic lies the
assumption that the third world woman only can be liberated through western rationality. Mohanty
is making an important point when emphasising the need to challenge these objectifications
(Udayagiri 1995:163). Mohantys emphasis on historical, spatial and cultural specificity contributes
to important insights on how different contexts influence on women s lives, and challenges the fact
that much of the discourse of

The Involvement Of The Cyber Attack
In 2007 Estonia was one of the most developed nations in Europe in terms of information and
communication technology advancement. Estonia had a common practice of relying on the
internet for business transactions. In the early weeks of spring, Estonia was hit by a series of
politically motivated cyber attacks. Numerous parties and organisation suffered different forms of

Estonian streets, violence towards the Ambassador of Estonia, Russia implementing indirect

The Italian born community is the largest overseas born community in Australia. The majority of
Italians came in the 1940s, 50s and 60s. World War II Italy was in a political and economic mess

by a bi lateral agreement between Australia and Italy, which allowed Italians to apply for assisted

arose to what extent did the opium brought in by the British affect the social, economic, and
political conflicts that were present in China during the First Opium War? This research question is
definitely worthy of investigation especially since opium had a profound... Show more content on

Eventually, the Daoguang Emperor became alarmed by the millions of drug addicts (Roblin) who
were affected by the ravaging effects of addiction (Coburn), the newly appointed Imperial
Commissioner, Lin Ze Xu, created and enforced the opium ban, but many of the Chinese opium
addicts would continue to smoke opium rather than quitting. This is simply because of the fact
that their bodies would go through painful withdrawals due to not having the drugs in their system
(Coburn). Some of these side effects are anxiety, pain, nausea, diarrhea, and flu like symptoms.
Since most users end up addicted to this narcotic after only a few days of usage, because of the
euphoric disorientation and satisfaction, this instantaneously took a hold of China. For example,
there were intense spikes in violence and criminal activities, such as pirating and stealing
specifically for opium. Also, many of those who are affected either directly or indirectly by this
narcotic, either wouldn t or couldn t work simply because of the fact that they were under the
influence of opium. Ultimately, because of these effects, China became inefficient and less reliable

Chem B Experiment Lab Report
The purpose of this lab was to experimentally and scientifically ascertain the percentage of oxygen
in Chem B at Woonsocket High School. It was hypothesized that if the percentage of oxygen is
measured experimentally in Chem B at Woonsocket High School, then it would be higher than the
percentage of oxygenin dry air, which is 20.95%, because the air is not dry due to moisture in the
air from people breathing and the altitude of where the experiment takes place may affect it as well.
To conduct this experiment, a candle was placed upright in a pan of water, was lit, and the flame
was allowed to fully develop. Then a graduated cylinder was placed upside down to represent an
airtight chamber, and the water rose. The point where it rose to was ... Show more content on

The number of people in the room, contributing to the humidity, is one of the contributing factors
to the change in percentages of oxygen. The condensation of a person s exhaled breath is a factor
that also minimally contributes to the humidity in the atmosphere. Humidity is the amount of
water vapor in the air at any given moment. When a person exhales, it marginally impacts the
relative humidity, and, due to common sense, if there is more people in the room, there is a
greater level of humidity. The percentage of oxygen in dry air is 20.95%. However, the air is not
always dry. Thus, the percentage of oxygen cannot always be the same if humidity is always
changing. Furthermore, dew point temperature is the absolute measure of the amount of water
vapor present in the air. So, if the temperature is higher, it can hold more water vapor, making
warmer climates much more humid than cooler climates. So, the temperature in the room is also
an indirect contributing factor to the percentage of oxygen in the air. The distance above sea level
is thought to potentially affect the percentages of oxygen. Nonetheless, it has been established that
the percentage of oxygen molecules is always the same when considering altitude. This is because
air is compressible, so the weight of all the air above applies pressure to the air at that particular
altitude, making that air at

Core Concert Dance
The CORE Concert Dance Company show presented the dance style of contemporary with the
addition to aerial choreography. The dancers presented many movements through the use of their
bodies that stemmed from choreography in ballet and modern dance moves. With contemporary
being my all time favorite style, the dancers provided a sense of freedom, expression, and
unpredictability in the ways they articulated the movement of the body itself and the objects that
were used. In many of the different pieces that were shown, I noticed that many of the dancers
movements in the choreographyinvolved the torso. The use the torso enabled me to capture the
movement of relaxation that gave off a sense of fluidity and ease through the transition of the next...

The movement related to the four core principles: personal style, improvisation, dynamic play, and a
deep connection to the music in order to convey an expression and a sense of rhythmic movement.
During the performance there were a lot of joyousness and call and response in the
choreography. The areas that contained these social elements were when the dancers were
suspended in the air while doing aerial and partner work on the floor. Throughout the entire show
the use of the kinetic elements such as a bent knee, body part isolations and the use of a flat foot
gave an insight on how much training a dancer had. The aerial dancers especially displayed body
isolations when they had to do splits and hold on to the ropes with one hand while in the air.
Without the isolations in the body movement and the control of the dancers, aerial work would be
very difficult to manage since it requires control and articulation of certain body parts.
Contemporary dance can be thought of as jazz derived or jazz influenced, but jazz will always
remain strict on what the movement is supposed to be and how it supposed to be articulated. One
of the main differences between contemporary and jazz is that in jazz gravity is felt a different
way. In contemporary there is an urge to give into gravity such

Edgar Allen Poe Analytical Essay
When looking at a piece of literature through a psychological approach it is easy to apply
Sigmund Freud s theories of the id, ego, and superego, which focus on conscious and
unconscious behavior. When analyzing many of Poe s works, critics tend to look through a
psychological lens. Specifically in Poe s The Black Cat. Some critics believe that Poe s
alcoholism is reflected in the piece, but many, such as James W. Gargano advised the tales
readers to avoid the biographical pitfall of seeing Poe and the first person narrator of The Black
Cat as identical literary twins (Piacentino 1). It is due to his childhood that Poe s narrator in The
Black Cat subconsciously places animals before humans, thus leading to him to murder his wife....

Freud interpreted these theories, and came up with his own theory that intrapsychic conflicts
(conflicts with in the individual) between basic biological urges and societal standards lead to
abnormal behavior (Bruce 2). Sigmund Freud s theories are relevant because subconsciously Poe s
narrator in The Black Cat has suppressed his negative feelings toward humans. It is this precise
unconscious thinking that Freud bases human nature upon. Understanding how ones mind
works is important in order to analyze ones actions. This is important in The Black Cat because
very early on the narrator reveals his overwhelming love for animals, and how he places them
before humans. When the narrator relays the story the reader learns that he is awaiting
execution for the murder of his wife (Piacentino 2). French critic Gerard Genette who specializes
in the study of narrative theory notes narration always says less than it knows, but it often makes
known more then it says (Piacentino 2). This is true of the autobiographical narrative of The
Black Cat. The narrator is trying to present himself as a calm man with self control, however the
more he talks the more he leaks his insanity. He offers rationalizations for his past actions, and
facts about his childhood. The narrator, by the end of the story, has revealed himself to be a
vicious and violent abuser of animals and people alike. He

Cosmetic Surgery Should Be Banned
Cosmetic surgery should be banned. Do you have one thing you would like to change about
your appearance? I would guess the answer is yes. People nowadays, especially women, are
consumed with their appearance. Many strive to conform to what society views as the perfect
body image and this can make people extremely insecure about the way they look. They think
that cosmetic surgery will solve this it doesn t. In fact, cosmetic surgery only enhances the need
to look beautiful and can lead to many consequences including addiction, mental illness and even
death. You may believe cosmetic surgery can help people with mental illnesses such as body
dysmorphia. However, it only acts as a plaster, hiding a much deeper problem. Providing surgery
to patients with low body confidence can lead to them craving more and more to satisfy their
needs, consequently creating a vicious circle of addiction. Cosmetic surgery can morph these type
of patients into completely different people, making them look almost unrecognisable. Imagine
looking in the mirror and not seeing yourself, but instead seeing another person, camouflaged by
the plastic injected into their face an irreversible procedure. Was it really worth it? After a recent
study in 2013 by professionals on patients mental health before and after cosmetic surgery,
psychiatrists discovered a correlation between cosmetic surgery and increased mental health issues,
especially for those who hold unrealistic expectations or have a

The Causes Of The Nanjing Massacre
The Nanjing Massacre occurred over a span of 6 weeks in 1937, after conquering the Chinese
forces stationed in Nanjing, the Japanese troops began their infamous slaughter also known as the
rape of Nanjing. This sequence of events not only affected Nanjing historically, but the effect is
has on current day Nanjing is nothing less than astonishing. Throughout the six weeks an
estimated 300,000 soldiers and civilians were killed (Controversial, Japanese say the number is
significantly lower). The Nanjing massacre is known as one of the most destructive mass murders
in history as it would take decades for the city and its citizens to recover from the horrifying attacks.
(staff, 2009). Nanjing, one of China s greatest ancient capitals located in eastern China is found in
Jiangsu, China. Nanjing has a prominent place in Chinese history and culture, having served as the
capital of various Chinese dynasties, kingdoms and republican governments. Zhu Yuanzhang, the
first emperor of the Ming Dynasty (1378 1644) rose to the throne in 1368, overthrowing the Yuan
dynasty and renaming it Yingtian and making it the dynastic capital in 1368. Emerging as the
political and cultural center of southeastern China at the time, it ultimately ended in a disaster and
stained Chinese history forever (Kuo, 2016) Nanjing at the time with about a population of
approximately a million was a prime target when Japan invaded China in 1937. That November,
Japanese troops made their way into the city, and the

A Study On The Bony Pelvis
Chapter 1: Introduction
The bony pelvis is consisting of 4 bones which are 2 os coxae or innominate bones, 1 sacrum and
1 coccyx. According to Applegate, E. J. (2010), the term pelvis is used to describe large bony
structure at the base of the spine which the lower limbs and many other vertebrates are attached to
it. Thus, pelvis is applied to the bony that formed by the coccyx, the sacrum and the two hip
bones which are called as the bony pelvis. The term of pelvis also can consider as the cavity
surrounded by the bony pelvis and preferred as the pelvic cavity. Pelvis has strength and power to
keep the body upright and enable it to bend, twist at the waist, to walk and run.
The female pelvis differs from the male pelvis in terms of shape and size. For example, the
pelvic inlet and pelvic outlet of females are wider compared to males. In females the pubic angle
is greater and the ischial spines are shorter than males. Moreover, the widest diameter of female
pelvic brim is transversely oval and further forwards (Medical Art Library, 2015). Meanwhile, the
male pelvic brim is widest towards the back of the pelvis and the outlet is heart shaped (Figure 1).
Table 1 show the comparison of the male and female pelvis.
2.1 Pelvic Cavity
Dr. C. Dlugos (1999) was mentioned the enclosed chamber located within the abdominal pelvic
cavity is called pelvic cavity. Pelvic cavity is above by the superior aperture and below by the
pelvic diaphragm. It extends backward and downward from

Steroid Use And Steroids Use
I can say something that less and less people can say these days; I love baseball. I like football
and basketball just as much, but I do love the game of baseball. It s America s pastime, what is
there not to love. But for some reason the MLB has been clouded with steroid use, more so than
a lot of other professional sports leagues. Once I found this section in the readings I wanted to
investigate it and dig a little deeper into how big of an issue it really is, and what the league has
or has not done about it. Fortunately, this trend has seemed to fade away and become less of a
problem. However, I would still like to dive into this subject and see the progression from when
steroid use began to peak and see how the league and everyone else... Show more content on

This new stricter policy is what would bring the MLB out of the steroid era . When most people
think about PED use in baseball the obvious names come to mind: Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds,
Alex Rodriguez, Rafael Palmeiro, and Gary Sheffield. However, some names they are not aware
of are Bay Area Laboratory Co Operative (BALCO), or the Biogenesis of America Clinic in
Florida. What s more, it is often unknown that a large majority of the players that have been
suspended received their performance enhancing drugs from those laboratories. According to a
CNN article on the timeline of the BALCO scandal, in the early 2000 s BALCO came under
investigation by federal agents in California, and by the U.S. Anti Doping Agency who received
an anonymous tip that an undetectable, designer steroid was being distributed by the founder of
BALCO ( BALCO Fast Facts, 2016). MLB athletes named in this case included: Barry Bonds,
Gary Sheffield, Jason and Jeremy Giambi, Armando Rios, Benito Santiago, and Bobby Estalella.
All of these players were given the steroids by a man named Greg Anderson, who was their trainer.
During this investigation, many high profiled players were subpoenaed to testify in front of a
grand jury. Barry Bonds and Gary Sheffield both testified that they unknowingly took steroids that
were given to them by Greg Anderson. Conversely, the rest of the MLB players testifying admitted
to taking steroids given to them by Greg Anderson. Though players had been

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Vs And Then There Were None...
In The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and And Then There Were None, they are many similarities
displayed about human nature. Both stories share motifs of being trapped. They also prove that
humans can be very savage and very sadistic. The similarities between The Texas Chainsaw
Massacre and And Then There Were None prove that humans are is undefined. In The Texas
Chainsaw Massacre , the protagonist character, Heather, heard that her grandfather s grave have
been vandalized, in which her and her brother ,Franklin, set out with their friends to investigate
what was going on. They all stayed at Heather s family s old farmhouse. They discovered a group
of murderous outcasts living next door. Each friend were very curious. There was a killer whom
the group of friends got attacked one by one by a chainsaw. In And Then There Were None ,
they were eight people , who got invited to an island. Everyone were all strangers to each other,
and all of them thought they were there for vacation or in Vera s case, a job. In actuality, all of
them were there to get killed for the act of murder. When both stories are compared, you can see
that every character got killed in a harsh manner. Also each character got killed one by one and one

The Impact Of Social Dimensions On World Health...
Social Dimension
Based on World Health Organization statistics, global economic interdependence has led to an
astonishing increase of the population and higher standards of living (Who.int, 2016). For instance,
Lagos used to have a population of 41,000 in 1900 (Cahoon, n.d.). A century later, Lagos records an
astonishing population number of 8 million (World Population Review, 2016). The traveling from
one place to another resulted in denser population centers. For instance, China has 150 million
people that left the countryside to the cities for the past 20 years (Williams, 2012, 76). Such shift
can also be seen mainly in the U.S. and Europe in different work sectors; from agriculture and
manufacturing to service healthcare, retail, education, technology, entertainment and the list can
go on. This shift allowed for changing worldviews and especially a change in the psychology of
the upper class living in the industrialized world (Stopford, Strange and Henley, 1991, 82 87).
Frederic Jameson says we are... so far removed from the realities of production and work that we
inhabit a dream world of artificial stimuli and televised experience (Jameson, 1972, Preface p. xvii).
This supports the argument made by many historians who believe that globalization has led to a
celebration of individualism (Elliott and Lemert, 2009, pp.17). Going back to the Depression and
World War II, the population then faced a large scale collectivist response to an individualistic
absence. Part

Tips For A Successful Career
What should you do to forge a successful, gratifying career? Briefly explain each of the four
dimensions that should be considered. Where do you need to improve? What is your plan to
accomplish your improvement?
To forge a successful career you should be a specialist, a generalist, self reliant , connected and
also be able to actively manage your relationship with your organization and be able to survive and
thrive in the world.
According to the text it is said you should be a specialist and a generalist, since in your career you
do not just want to be a specialist, you want to advance up and get into higher positions in which
your responsibility increases, you will deal with more people and and understand if not all at
least more areas of the organization. To be a specialist you need to be skillful expert in a
particular valuable area which will help give the firm and the customers a more concrete and
knowledgable value. To be a generalist means to have a wide range of knowledge about diverse
areas in the organization. To be self reliant means to be autonomous and take responsibility for
your own actions. As a human who wants to grow it is our duty to go the extra mile and do what
is necessary to grow without the help of a boss or a company, we must try to be entrepreneurs and
take risk and see where we make mistakes, work hard towards improving those mistakes via
practise and rise upwards. To be connected means to have a lot of good relations with clients and

Compare And Contrast The American Horror Story And The...
American Horror Story and the Amazing World of Gumball Compared Ryan Murphy s
anthology American Horror Story shows a side of evil and darkness that none of us could ever
imagine. Ben Bocquelet s animated TV show The Amazing World of Gumball represents that
unordinary, innocent part of ourselves that we often forget about. In this paper, I will be
comparing the similarities and the differences of the two, drastically different shows. American
Horror Story (AHS) has a malevolent, dystopian view on the environment and those in it, while
The Amazing World of Gumball (Gumball) tries to pull off a more welcoming, friendly stance.
AHS tends to focus more on the negatives and the evil in the world like murder, illegal drugs,
alcohol, lying, manipulation, and abuse. The show s story can be written in some of the
bluntest ways as possible. There is no beating around the bush or hiding under the blanket.
Gumball gives a display of happiness and a fantasy of what our childhoods could be like. The
joy and fun of being a child is shown in a way that younger kids tend to overlook. The view of
the show normally comes off as fun, innocent humor. AHS s way of presentation is meant to give
off an antiutopian type of reality to appeal to those who enjoy or find interest in the twisted side
of life. Gumball is animated the way it is to have a stronger appeal to children and give off that
vibe of utopia and being carefree. AHS s characters contain those dark, gloomy characteristics that

Psychological providers have an ethical responsibility to only provide services for which they have the appropriate training, education or experience in which they have become competent. In practicing only when competent, psychologists can assure that they are maintaining their ethical duties and providing appropriate care for the client. To maintain appropriate standards of care, it is advised that providers follow best practices in determining the appropriateness of telepsychological interventions for their clients (APA, 2013). When telepsychological interventions are implemented, psychologists are advised to follow guidelines relating to the provision of services. When it is determined that telepsychological services are appropriate, it is the provider s responsibility to inform the client of the risks associated with these types of services. Ginga Eiyuu (Legend Of The Galactic Heroes Crafting a masterful anime is similar to cultivating a delicate flower, it requires a willingness to accept circumstances the way they are, and not the way we wish them to be. Lithops, a flower with a low dependence on water, can have their skins burst if they are oversaturated with excess liquids. In the same breath, an animethat strives for over the top action sequences (e.g. run of the mill Shounen anime) but neglects the political, economic, and social struggles that accompany those events, falsely establishes a dichotomous situation that rarely, if ever, exists. The original Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (Legend of the Galactic Heroes) understood these concepts extremely well, taking every opportunity it could to flesh out characters, explore pertinent historical events, and question the role(s) of government and its people. If it were required to sum up the original series in one word, it would be: methodical. Nothing ever felt rushed, hurried, or crammed down our throats. Everything blossomed from the seeds of past events. Not saying that I did not enjoy the presentation of the material in this manner, but it felt like the meticulous gradualness of the original series might be interchanged for a more robust paced narrative in the The New Thesis. • 4. Mental Illness In Godwin s A Sorrowful Woman In Godwin s story A Sorrowful Woman , the mother has a series of very complex feelings and emotions. From the story, it can be inferred that this is a woman with a sudden onset of mental illness, a woman who has lost her identity and sense of belonging; and a woman who is consciously aware of all this, knowing she is a burden to her loved ones. This mother shows signs of her mental illness almost right off the bat, when, after looking at her son, she began yelping without tears, retching in between (39). The onset of this illness appears to be very sudden. The story begins with One winter evening she looked at them....the sight of them made her so sad and sick she did not want to see them ever again (39). It seems as if just one evening she suddenly begins to feel this way. When the son says, It s alright Mommy (39), causing the father to respond Mommy is sick (39), shows that the father did not have time to explain this to the son any time before. There is no evidence given in the story as to what caused her mental illness, though we can infer that the onset was quite sudden. Throughout the story, the woman is never identified, only being referred to as the woman (40). So we never have a sense of her identity outside of the fact that she is a wife and a mother with a mental illness. She also tries to find herself and her identity. She was a young queen, a virgin in a tower, she was the previous inhabitant, the girl with all the energies. She tried these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From this two groups emerged; evolutionists, who believe that modern day life forms evolved from smaller and more primitive organisms, and creationists, who continued to believe that everything was created by a higher power. Each side produced credible arguments, but at the same time, the counter arguments where just as substantial. Because of this, the quarrel between evolutionists and creationists is far from ending. Alzheimer s A Progressive Neurodegenerative Disease Alzheimer s is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that steadily destroys the memory and other important mental functions such as social skills, intellect, and memory (4). Although the exact cause of Alzheimer s is not known, most cases of the disease are caused by genetic mutations passed from the parent to the child (1). There are several genes associated with Alzheimer s one in particular is apolipoprotein E (1). The presence of one or more of these genes does not necessarily mean that the person will develop Alzheimer s however; it does increase the risk (5). Several environmental factors and lifestyle choices responsible for damage to blood vessels in the brain also contribute to the development of the disease (4). These factors include, past trauma to the head, cardiovascular disease, smoking, diabetes, or a poor diet (4). Cognitive impairment associated with Alzheimer s disease occurs when synapses, which transmit information from one neuron to another, become interrupted and communication ceases (7). The result is death of the nerve cell within the brain, also referred to as synaptic failure (6). Synaptic failure takes place when amyloid plaque and neurofibrillary tangles develop (7). Amyloid plaque develops from amyloid beta proteins, which are released by enzymes from the amyloid precursor protein that is located on the surface of the neuron (7). Some believe that because of liberalization and globalization, the need of nation state or the concept of sovereigntywithin the nation state has diminished. I strongly disagree with this statement and therefore will like to prove my point in the upcoming paragraphs. According to Grotius, Sovereignty is the supreme political power vested in him whose acts are not subject to any other and whose will cannot be over ridden . It shows that Sovereignty is the exclusive, all comprehensive or universal, inalienable, permanent and indivisible power of the state. Furthermore, the concept of the nation state is well defined by Grossberg. He claims that nation state is one which provides some securities to people such as physical security, economic and social security. He went further that the nation state also means that sovereign is under control of its own leadership or people, but not under control of some other external aspects. Therefore nation state is identified as a political community in which the country has the power to set its own laws in order to make sure that its territorial autonomy is integrated and political sovereignty is not ... Brazil has always been a black and mixed blood populated society, whereas the United States had always been white blood dominated compared to its black population. This paper will compare the differences of race mixing in the United States and Brazil after the American Civil War. First and foremost, it is important to differentiate the perception of black and white race mixing in both the United States and Brazil. In the United States, the offspring produced between blacks and whites are considered black. However, the status of a child produced by a white mother is typically reflected by the status of the mother. Degler revealed that, From this perspective, the most feared combination in unions between blacks and whites was the one in which the white women married a black men . This is because during slavery, when a slave owner would impregnate his female slaves, the children of the slave would also become a slave, but if the mother is white, it is very unlikely that the child would become a slave. Rotavirus: is a common cause of gastroenteritis in infants and young children. Rotavirus is a non enveloped, double shelled virus with a double stranded RNA genome. The virus is capable of infecting the epithelial cells of small intestine, leading to decrease in production of digestive enzymes and cell death. As a result of epithelial cells damage, the absorption of fluids by small intestine is interrupted which leads to watery diarrhea. [1] Salmonella enterica: is a member of the Enterobacteriacecae family, a rod shape Gram negative bacterium. After passage through the gastric acid barrier, S. enterica binds tightly to specific receptors of the epithelial cells in small intestine. The receptor interaction activates a cellular response results in transfer of bacterial effector proteins into the epithelial cell, following by uptake of bacterial cell by endocytosis. Invasion of epithelial cells induce an inflammatory response that increases the fluid secretion of epithelial cells, causing diarrhea. The alienation caused by racism can affect individuals and society. Due to their race, they were discriminated and led to racial inequality. This can all be depicted in Incident by Countee Cullen, A Black Man Talks of Reaping by Arna Bontemps, and We Wear the Mask by Paul Laurence Dunbar. In Incident , a young African Americanis called a racial slur because of her physical appearance. Also, A Black Man Talks of Reaping , describes how a black man is discriminated and face racial inequality. Lastly, in We Wear the Mask shows how blacks had to hide their true identity because they were colored and did not fit in society. In all three text of Cullen, Bontemps, and Dunbar all show how racism can make an individual feel alienated. In the poem, Incident by Countee Cullen , he looks back at a moment of his life that he encounters racism. Racism causes individuals to become alienated. He was a young Baltimorean and sees a boy staring at him. He says, I was eight and very small, / And he was no whit bigger, / And so I smiled, but he poked out/ His tongue and called me, Nigger . Men and women were polar opposites of each other and numerous double standards existed. Each social class kept to themselves and fraternizing between the upper class and lower class resulted in social pariahs. However, towards the end of the nineteenth century high class women began to demand equal treatment. To lower class men, this demand proved offensive and received heavy opposition. Strindberg includes Julie s dream because it is crucial to understanding her own demise and foreshadows her fate in the play. He employs this symbol in order to demonstrate that Julie s resistance to social order ultimately causes her own death. Additionally, throughout the play Jean and Julie both fear the bell that hangs in the kitchen. Whenever the count returns from a trip he rings the bell, reinforcing the strict social order. To Jean and Julie the bell represents the oppression of the classes and the strict role they both must play in society. At the end of the play after Julie had sex with Jean, Julie frantically tries to decide if she should run away or stay. The guilt and shame of her actions consume her and the societal implications of her actions prove too much for her to handle. Two quick rings from the bell...It s horrid! But there s no other end to it! Go [Miss Julie]! (36). Ultimately, the count and the significance of his presence were too hard for Julie to endure, so she commits suicide. Mohanty examines how liberal and socialist feminist scholarship use analytics strategies that creates an essentialist construction of the category woman, universalist assumptions of sexist oppression and how this contributes to the perpetuation of colonialist relations between the north and south(Mohanty 1991:55). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She makes an important point when trying to go beyond the female (otherness), by paying careful attention to differences among women themselves, and by putting emphasize on the multiple realties that women faces, and by that trying to uncover universalist interpretations (Parpart and Marchand 1995:6). She reveals the inadequacy of binary categories by showing us how power is defined in binary terms, between the people who have (men) and the people who do not (women). This is a consequence of seeing women as a homogenous group, and contributes to the reinforcement of the binary division between men and women (Mohanty 1991:64). By assuming that women are a already constituted group with the same experiences and interests, gender is looked upon as something that can be applied cross cultures (Mohanty 1991:54), and it also produces an assumption about the average third world woman as poor and uneducated, in contrast to the educated, modern Western women (Mohanty 1991:56). Implicit in the binary analytic lies the assumption that the third world woman only can be liberated through western rationality. Mohanty is making an important point when emphasising the need to challenge these objectifications (Udayagiri 1995:163). How Did The First Opium War Affect China The First Opium War was one of the occurrences that molded China, a great trading center during that certain time period, into that they were in the year of 1842. And though there may be the possibility that the changes in opium use may not have had a truly impactful effect on China s social, economic and political situations during the First Opium War, it is still evident that the changes in the use of opium did in fact morph Chinain many ways. And for that reason, a question arose to what extent did the opium brought in by the British affect the social, economic, and political conflicts that were present in China during the First Opium War? This research question is definitely worthy of investigation especially since opium had a profound... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eventually, the Daoguang Emperor became alarmed by the millions of drug addicts (Roblin) who were affected by the ravaging effects of addiction (Coburn), the newly appointed Imperial Commissioner, Lin Ze Xu, created and enforced the opium ban, but many of the Chinese opium addicts would continue to smoke opium rather than quitting. This is simply because of the fact that their bodies would go through painful withdrawals due to not having the drugs in their system (Coburn). Some of these side effects are anxiety, pain, nausea, diarrhea, and flu like symptoms. Since most users end up addicted to this narcotic after only a few days of usage, because of the euphoric disorientation and satisfaction, this instantaneously took a hold of China. For example, there were intense spikes in violence and criminal activities, such as pirating and stealing specifically for opium. • 42. Chem B Experiment Lab Report The purpose of this lab was to experimentally and scientifically ascertain the percentage of oxygen in Chem B at Woonsocket High School. It was hypothesized that if the percentage of oxygen is measured experimentally in Chem B at Woonsocket High School, then it would be higher than the percentage of oxygenin dry air, which is 20.95%, because the air is not dry due to moisture in the air from people breathing and the altitude of where the experiment takes place may affect it as well. To conduct this experiment, a candle was placed upright in a pan of water, was lit, and the flame was allowed to fully develop. Then a graduated cylinder was placed upside down to represent an airtight chamber, and the water rose. The point where it rose to was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The number of people in the room, contributing to the humidity, is one of the contributing factors to the change in percentages of oxygen. The condensation of a person s exhaled breath is a factor that also minimally contributes to the humidity in the atmosphere. Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air at any given moment. When a person exhales, it marginally impacts the relative humidity, and, due to common sense, if there is more people in the room, there is a greater level of humidity. The percentage of oxygen in dry air is 20.95%. However, the air is not always dry. Thus, the percentage of oxygen cannot always be the same if humidity is always changing. Furthermore, dew point temperature is the absolute measure of the amount of water vapor present in the air. So, if the temperature is higher, it can hold more water vapor, making warmer climates much more humid than cooler climates. So, the temperature in the room is also an indirect contributing factor to the percentage of oxygen in the air. The distance above sea level is thought to potentially affect the percentages of oxygen. Nonetheless, it has been established that the percentage of oxygen molecules is always the same when considering altitude. This is because air is compressible, so the weight of all the air above applies pressure to the air at that particular altitude, making that air at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Core Concert Dance The CORE Concert Dance Company show presented the dance style of contemporary with the addition to aerial choreography. The dancers presented many movements through the use of their bodies that stemmed from choreography in ballet and modern dance moves. With contemporary being my all time favorite style, the dancers provided a sense of freedom, expression, and unpredictability in the ways they articulated the movement of the body itself and the objects that were used. In many of the different pieces that were shown, I noticed that many of the dancers movements in the choreographyinvolved the torso. The use the torso enabled me to capture the movement of relaxation that gave off a sense of fluidity and ease through the transition of the next... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The movement related to the four core principles: personal style, improvisation, dynamic play, and a deep connection to the music in order to convey an expression and a sense of rhythmic movement. During the performance there were a lot of joyousness and call and response in the choreography. The areas that contained these social elements were when the dancers were suspended in the air while doing aerial and partner work on the floor. Throughout the entire show the use of the kinetic elements such as a bent knee, body part isolations and the use of a flat foot gave an insight on how much training a dancer had. The aerial dancers especially displayed body isolations when they had to do splits and hold on to the ropes with one hand while in the air. Without the isolations in the body movement and the control of the dancers, aerial work would be very difficult to manage since it requires control and articulation of certain body parts. Contemporary dance can be thought of as jazz derived or jazz influenced, but jazz will always remain strict on what the movement is supposed to be and how it supposed to be articulated. One of the main differences between contemporary and jazz is that in jazz gravity is felt a different way. In contemporary there is an urge to give into gravity such ... • 44. Edgar Allen Poe Analytical Essay When looking at a piece of literature through a psychological approach it is easy to apply Sigmund Freud s theories of the id, ego, and superego, which focus on conscious and unconscious behavior. When analyzing many of Poe s works, critics tend to look through a psychological lens. Specifically in Poe s The Black Cat. Some critics believe that Poe s alcoholism is reflected in the piece, but many, such as James W. Gargano advised the tales readers to avoid the biographical pitfall of seeing Poe and the first person narrator of The Black Cat as identical literary twins (Piacentino 1). It is due to his childhood that Poe s narrator in The Black Cat subconsciously places animals before humans, thus leading to him to murder his wife.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Freud interpreted these theories, and came up with his own theory that intrapsychic conflicts (conflicts with in the individual) between basic biological urges and societal standards lead to abnormal behavior (Bruce 2). Sigmund Freud s theories are relevant because subconsciously Poe s narrator in The Black Cat has suppressed his negative feelings toward humans. It is this precise unconscious thinking that Freud bases human nature upon. Understanding how ones mind works is important in order to analyze ones actions. This is important in The Black Cat because very early on the narrator reveals his overwhelming love for animals, and how he places them before humans. When the narrator relays the story the reader learns that he is awaiting execution for the murder of his wife (Piacentino 2). French critic Gerard Genette who specializes in the study of narrative theory notes narration always says less than it knows, but it often makes known more then it says (Piacentino 2). This is true of the autobiographical narrative of The Black Cat. The narrator is trying to present himself as a calm man with self control, however the more he talks the more he leaks his insanity. He offers rationalizations for his past actions, and facts about his childhood. The narrator, by the end of the story, has revealed himself to be a vicious and violent abuser of animals and people alike. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People nowadays, especially women, are consumed with their appearance. Many strive to conform to what society views as the perfect body image and this can make people extremely insecure about the way they look. They think that cosmetic surgery will solve this it doesn t. In fact, cosmetic surgery only enhances the need to look beautiful and can lead to many consequences including addiction, mental illness and even death. You may believe cosmetic surgery can help people with mental illnesses such as body dysmorphia. However, it only acts as a plaster, hiding a much deeper problem. Providing surgery to patients with low body confidence can lead to them craving more and more to satisfy their needs, consequently creating a vicious circle of addiction. Cosmetic surgery can morph these type of patients into completely different people, making them look almost unrecognisable. (2010), the term pelvis is used to describe large bony structure at the base of the spine which the lower limbs and many other vertebrates are attached to it. Thus, pelvis is applied to the bony that formed by the coccyx, the sacrum and the two hip bones which are called as the bony pelvis. The term of pelvis also can consider as the cavity surrounded by the bony pelvis and preferred as the pelvic cavity. Pelvis has strength and power to keep the body upright and enable it to bend, twist at the waist, to walk and run. The female pelvis differs from the male pelvis in terms of shape and size. For example, the pelvic inlet and pelvic outlet of females are wider compared to males. In females the pubic angle is greater and the ischial spines are shorter than males. Moreover, the widest diameter of female pelvic brim is transversely oval and further forwards (Medical Art Library, 2015). Meanwhile, the male pelvic brim is widest towards the back of the pelvis and the outlet is heart shaped (Figure 1). Table 1 show the comparison of the male and female pelvis. 2.1 Pelvic Cavity Dr. C. However, some names they are not aware of are Bay Area Laboratory Co Operative (BALCO), or the Biogenesis of America Clinic in Florida. What s more, it is often unknown that a large majority of the players that have been suspended received their performance enhancing drugs from those laboratories. According to a CNN article on the timeline of the BALCO scandal, in the early 2000 s BALCO came under investigation by federal agents in California, and by the U.S. Anti Doping Agency who received an anonymous tip that an undetectable, designer steroid was being distributed by the founder of BALCO ( BALCO Fast Facts, 2016). • 52. The Impact Of Social Dimensions On World Health... Social Dimension Based on World Health Organization statistics, global economic interdependence has led to an astonishing increase of the population and higher standards of living (Who.int, 2016). For instance, Lagos used to have a population of 41,000 in 1900 (Cahoon, n.d.). A century later, Lagos records an astonishing population number of 8 million (World Population Review, 2016). The traveling from one place to another resulted in denser population centers. For instance, China has 150 million people that left the countryside to the cities for the past 20 years (Williams, 2012, 76). Such shift can also be seen mainly in the U.S. and Europe in different work sectors; from agriculture and manufacturing to service healthcare, retail, education, technology, entertainment and the list can go on. This shift allowed for changing worldviews and especially a change in the psychology of the upper class living in the industrialized world (Stopford, Strange and Henley, 1991, 82 87). Frederic Jameson says we are... so far removed from the realities of production and work that we inhabit a dream world of artificial stimuli and televised experience (Jameson, 1972, Preface p. xvii). This supports the argument made by many historians who believe that globalization has led to a celebration of individualism (Elliott and Lemert, 2009, pp.17). Going back to the Depression and World War II, the population then faced a large scale collectivist response to an individualistic absence. Part ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

American Horror Story and the Amazing World of Gumball Compared Ryan Murphy s anthology American Horror Story shows a side of evil and darkness that none of us could ever imagine. Ben Bocquelet s animated TV show The Amazing World of Gumball represents that unordinary, innocent part of ourselves that we often forget about. In this paper, I will be comparing the similarities and the differences of the two, drastically different shows. American Horror Story (AHS) has a malevolent, dystopian view on the environment and those in it, while The Amazing World of Gumball (Gumball) tries to pull off a more welcoming, friendly stance. AHS tends to focus more on the negatives and the evil in the world like murder, illegal drugs, alcohol, lying, manipulation, and abuse. The show s story can be written in some of the bluntest ways as possible. There is no beating around the bush or hiding under the blanket. Gumball gives a display of happiness and a fantasy of what our childhoods could be like. The joy and fun of being a child is shown in a way that younger kids tend to overlook. The view of the show normally comes off as fun, innocent humor. AHS s way of presentation is meant to give off an antiutopian type of reality to appeal to those who enjoy or find interest in the twisted side of life. Gumball is animated the way it is to have a stronger appeal to children and give off that vibe of utopia and being carefree. AHS s characters contain those dark, gloomy characteristics that ...
