I attempt to speak from personal experience as much as possible in addition to citing the opinions and
facts of others, let me begin by stating that probably the most harmful pattern of the world is the
judgment of others. It is true and I have witnessed firsthand the self esteem of many being cut down to
mere nothingness by the judgment of others. Is it a crime to look different, talk different or be unique
in our own special way?
Through my examination of the New Age belief system I believe many in society see themselves as
being the Lord of their own universe (Sire, 2009, p. 179) and I wonder does this flawed thinking lead

On one hand, tumor cells induce platelet aggregation [TCIPA] known to act as the trigger of cancer
associated thrombosis and on the other, recruited to the tumor microenvironment platelets interact
directly with tumor cells favoring their proliferation and indirectly through the release of a wide
palette of growth factors, angiogenic and mitogenic proteins. The role of platelets is not only confined
to the primary tumor site. They escort tumor cells helping their intravasation, vascular migration and
extravasation to the tissues forming distant metastasis.
As expected, non specific or specific inhibition of platelets and their contents represents an attractive
approach in the fight against cancer.

stages of the metastatic process.

Ancient sculptures bring on endless philosophical arguments regarding what is an appropriate form of
perfection, defined as a fit body guided by a keen mind. This paper will approach a visual essence of
the sculpture of The Lansdowne Athlete, by Lysippos, Rome 340 330 B.C. marble after a bronze
original, that I viewed at the LACMA. This sculpture is located in the left wing of Greek exhibition
Building, 3rd floor. I selected this sculpture as an example of an idealized body. Therefore, I will be
explaining the historical background of the sculpture and address why I think it would make a good
addition to our text. I will provide an analogy with other sculpture of idealized body from our
textbook chapter 12 on Mind and Body mainly. I will impart more information about the essence of
idealized human form as well as cultural ideals during this time period in Greece.
The Lansdowne Athlete at the LACMA is an example of a well developed ideal body and carefully
controlled proportions to all body parts. This sculpture is a Roman copy of an original by Lysippos
made in the 1st century. It is a marble statue of 75inches in height. The figure is in the contrapposto

Change for the Better Although India has been controlled by foreign rulers for centuries the people of
India have decided they no longer will stand by and be governed by an outside source. The British

Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is an inherited disorder that produces sickle or crescent shape red blood
cells. Thus, the mutated erythrocytes result in an inadequate supply of oxygen being transported
throughout the body. Research shows that among those affected the most with the sickle cell gene are
African Americans. In recent years, we have seen a decrease in mortality and morbidity rates as a
result of new approaches to treating the disease. The more we understand the pathophysiology of
sickle cell anemia, the more we learn about developing therapies for genetic disorders such as SCA. In
this paper, we will briefly discuss what sickle cell anemia is and possible treatments for people with
sickle cell anemia such as gene therapy and new drugs.
What is sickle cell anemia?
Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder. This missense mutation is
characterized by mutant beta globin subunits that tend to stick together (Cummings, 2014). As a result,
abnormally shaped red blood cells are produced by this disorder. The erythrocytes are sickle or
crescent shaped. Sickling occurs under hypoxic conditions, in which there is insufficient supply of
oxygen delivered throughout the body (Sun Xia, 2013). In order to inherit this monogenic disease, one
