Game Of Thrones Theme Of Death
In Game of Thrones one of the few constants throughout the show is death. In the third scene of the
show someone is killed, and people are killed right up to season seven s finale. Almost everyone in
Game of Thrones is faced with at least one near death experience, and all of the characters handle it in
different ways. Being faced with death constantly leads to a couple of questions what emotions should
we face when we are about to die, and should we be afraid of death? Death eventually comes for all of
us, so why are we so afraid of it? At one point it is said There is one god and its name is death . Many
characters acknowledge they know death is coming for them, and many acknowledge their fear, but
many do not acknowledge that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Death is a scary thing because of the unknowns that surround death. Religion often help to answer all
the unknowns because we get an end point in our life just like Heidegger said. The end point and
beginning point of our world and life help us find closure. So, to answer the question what emotions
should we face when we are about to die, and should we be afraid of death? The emotions that
surround death will always change with the circumstance, but fear is a very normal and acceptable
emption to fear, especially without a belief in an afterlife. However, it is also acceptable to not fear
death. I don t think there is actually an acceptable emotion or answer to the question that I posed. By
looking at several of the characters in Game of Thrones I noticed that all of the characters went
through different emotions right before their death. I also noticed that none of the emotions that they
felt were incorrect or not justified. Depending on age, circumstance of death, and belief in
religion/afterlife you will have different feelings towards death, but all of these feelings are valid.
There are not correct or incorrect feelings when it comes to death. While it is natural to be scared of
death, it is just as natural to accept your

Megadeth
Megadeth is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in
1983 by guitarist Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson, shortly after Mustaine s dismissal from
Metallica. A pioneer of the American thrash metal scene, the band is credited as one of the genre s big
four with Anthrax, Metallica and Slayer, responsible for thrash metal s development and
popularization. Megadeth plays in a technical style, featuring fast rhythm sections and complex
arrangements. Themes of death, war, politics and religion are prominent in the group s lyrics.
In 1985, the band released its debut album on the independent label Combat Records. The album s
moderate commercial success caught the attention of bigger labels, which led to Megadeth signing
with Capitol Records. Their first major label album, Peace Sells... but Who s Buying?, was released in
1986 and influenced the underground ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These albums, along with touring worldwide, helped bring public recognition to Megadeth. The band
temporarily disbanded in 2002 when Mustaine suffered an arm injury and re established in 2004
without bassist Ellefson, who had taken legal action against Mustaine. Ellefson settled with Mustaine
out of court and rejoined the group in 2010. Megadeth has hosted its own music festival, Gigantour,
several times since mid 2005.
As of 2014, Megadeth has sold 50 million records worldwide, earned platinum certification in the
United States for five of its fifteen studio albums, and received eleven Grammy nominations. The
band s mascot, Vic Rattlehead, regularly appears on album artwork and, since 2010, in live shows.
The group has experienced controversy over its musical approach and lyrics, including canceled
concerts and album bans. MTV has refused to play two of the band s videos that the network

The Verb “Google” Has Become A Staple In The Majority Of
The verb Google has become a staple in the majority of internet user s vocabularies; dominating as the
preferred method for Internet searching. Google is used by many individuals for varying reasons; the
academics using it for their research, to the public using it find a place to eat or how to cure a common

with an explanation of search engine algorithms, and more specifically PageRank. Lastly, it will cover
how public receive their information through these algorithms, and the limitations and difficulty users

Beer Is The Alcoholic Beverage Of Choice
Beer is one of the oldest alcoholic drinks and has played a role in human history for roughly 8,000
years. Beer is the alcoholic beverage of choice in North America and many other parts around the
world. It has shaped the culture of human civilization, social interaction and has had a significant
contribution to our economy. In order to get a proper perspective on beer you have to look at three
main periods; ancient history (the development period), modernization of beer and its effects, and
what role beer plays today and where it is going.
Archaeologists have uncovered ancient Babylonian beer recipes engrave on clay tablets as early as
3500 B.C. This early beer was very crude and many people today would probably not consider
drinking it today as it had bread chunks and had the consistency similar to porridge. To drink this
ancient beer people would consume it using straws to filter out sediment and large chunks.
Once Beer started to become more popular and commercialized, the first set of laws regulating it were
set in place by the Babylonians. Paragraph 108 in the Code of Hammurabi stated and if anyone were
caught selling beer for cash instead of corn in order to cheat their customers, they would be drowned
as a punishment. The law also put restrictions on ordinary women from drinking beer with the
exception of priestesses who could consume it freely. These laws date back to 1754 BC and since this
date, beer has been regulated by society.

Factors That Affect The Rate Of Catalytic Process
Vent pipes in cars contain small amount of Platinum rhodium alloy that transforms toxic emission
such as Carbon Monoxide and Nitrogen Dioxide to harmless gas such as Carbon Dioxide. During that
process, Catalyst plays an important role in accelerating the gas transformation, in which lowers the
activation energy. As an important element in the chemical reaction, catalysts are required in different
types of chemical reactions to increase the speed for reaction. During the process of speeding up
reaction, the property of catalyst itself will not change as the reaction takes place. But there are other
factors could affect the catalytic process, such as temperature, density, or pressure. Besides these
factors, is there any other factor that could affect the efficiency of catalytic process? That triggers my
interest of investigation. During agricultural use of catalyst, farmers try to change the pH value of
fertilizer to control the amount of time seeds need to germinate . Does pH value of solution affect the
catalytic efficiency? That becomes next step of investigation. In order to change the pH values of
solution but keep the property of solution itself constant. I need to add acid or alkali solution that will
not affect with either reactant or product. The acidity of solution is determined by the number of H+
and the alkalinity of solution is determined by the number of (OH) in the solution. I will find out
reactants that do not react with one type of acid and one type of

Auditory System Essay
The world contains all kinds of energy that translates into information about what we see, hear, smell,
touch and taste. A sensory system is a part of the nervous system responsible for processing specific
sensory information. The components of a sensory system include sensory receptors, neural pathways,
and parts of the brain involved in sensory perception. To begin, energy from the environment
stimulates the receptor cells in whichever sense organ is being used. If this information were auditory,
the ear would convert sound waves in the air into electrical impulses that would further be interpreted
by the brain as sound. A sound wave first enters the pinna, the fleshy part of the ear on the outside of
the body. It then travels through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movements of the membranes then send the vibrations down the scala tympani. A structure called
the Organ of Corti, which is situated on the basilar membrane, becomes stimulated as the membrane
vibrates and sends nerve impulses to the brain. Within the Organ of Corti are a group of specialized
cells called hair cells, which are covered by the tectorial membrane. As the basilar membrane vibrates,
the hair cells are bents and push up against the tectorial membrane. This causes the hair cells to fire
and send nerve impulses to the auditory cortex on each of the brains hemispheres through the cochlear
nerve. How we determine pitch can be explained with two different theories. The Place Theory states
that the entire basilar membrane does not vibrate at once so different parts of the basilar membrane
respond to different frequencies of sound. Lower frequency sounds vibrate the basilar membrane near
the apex of the cochlea while higher frequency sounds produce vibrations closer to the base. The
Frequency Theory states that the frequency of firing matches the frequency of the sound wave.
Hearing loss can occur for a number of reasons. Damage to the eardrum due to age and prolonged
exposure to loud noise may cause the hairs or nerve cells in the cochlea to wear out and become less
effective. A buildup of earwax can block the ear canal and prevent of sound waves from entering the
eardrum. Otosclerosis, a genetic form of hearing loss in which the stapes is fixed

Analysis Of The Lady Of Shalott
In the story by Alfred Tennyson, The Lady of Shalott the story is about a fairy who is isolated from the
outside world in a tower. In a mythical and fairytale like setting, the author uses imagery and the Lady
Shalott s character to explain the underlying message to his readers. The message of this story is the
importance of one s identity seen in the world. The author explains this aspect through the isolation of
Lady Shalott to show that love and affection is needed to enhance this identity. We as readers are
introduced early on to whom Lady Shalott really is and what her environment is like. The author
describes the island of Shalott dividing Lady Shalott s world of her tower on one side of the river and
another area of land on the other; the river keeping these areas apart. The author emphasizes that the
Lady of Shalott is unknown to society by stating, But who hath seen her wave her hand? Thus, we can
see that the Lady of Shalott is isolated in a tower being basically nonexistent to others. Through
looking outside her window, she can see some shadows. Lady Shalott states, I am half sick of shadows
to emphasize to the reader that she enjoys seeing someone else, however, haven t been physically
interacted with one before. These aspects of the Lady of Shalott s environment are crucial and
impactful to this aspect of loneliness on identity. Tennyson states that the Lady of Shalott is a fairy
who weaves webs during her time in the tower. The author uses this mythical character of a fairy due
to their stereotypes. Such include a very dainty and sometimes ditsy fairytale like creature. The ideas
of being ditsy can come from the fairies in Sleeping Beauty. The author uses this dainty and ditsy
character to show the Lady of Shalott being unaware of the outside world because of her isolation. The
author also mentions that the Lady of Shalott has an unknown curse put upon her. Without going into
much detail, the author states how this curse is unknown to herself. This curse could possibly be an
aspect of her own self. Because of Lady Shalott s isolation, she is unaware of what the outside world
is like. Thus, her mindset up this curse upon herself is due to unknown aspects of life. Going further

Aristotle And Aristotle s Theory Of Moral Virtue

works has lasted throughout the centuries to influence even some today s greatest minds. Their works
however could not be any separated, Aristotle is a prominent figure in ancient Greek philosophy,
making contributions to logic, metaphysics, mathematics, physics, biology, botany, ethics, politics,
agriculture, medicine, dance and theatre. He was a student of great thinkers such as Plato and
Socrates. He believes that ethics is a process to finding the final end or the highest good. He states that
although there are many ends in life those are usually only means to further ends, our ambitions and
wants must have some final purpose. Aristotle believes that this highest end is that of Happiness. He
introduces the concept moral virtue which is the ability to properly control desires to follow bad
actions, and is the focus of morality. Centered on the core of Aristotle s account of moral virtue is his
doctrine of the mean. According to this doctrine, moral virtues are character traits which are at in
between more extreme character traits. While Nietzsche a German philosopher, essayist, and cultural

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Limited Liability Company
Answer 1
Limited liability refers to a condition whereby in a company limited by shares, on insolvent
liquidation, liability of members to make up for the shortfall is limited. Limited liability along with
separate legal personality is widely regarded as a means to encourage entrepreneurship by allowing
business investors to separate personal and corporate assets.
Driven by the advantages of limited liability, today, new limited liability forms of business
organizations have emerged. One of these is known as the Limited Liability Company (LLC), a hybrid
entity designed to combine the tax advantages of partnership with the benefits of limited liability.

Based on my understanding of case law, it is reasonable for courts to lift the corporate veil if special
circumstances exist. Conversely, there are some cases which at first instance may appear as justifiable
for lifting the veil, when in reality they are not.
To begin with, the circumstances which call for courts to lift the veil include the application of evasion
principle. The courts may disregard the corporate veil if a defendant has exploited the corporate
structure to evade obligations enforced on him by law or if the defendant tries to evade rights that
third parties already have against him.
In both cases, Gilford Motor Co. Ltd v Horne and Jones v Lipman, the Courts called for lifting the veil

The Rio Grande Valley, And Immigration
This research paper focuses on the Rio Grande Valley, and immigration. The purpose of this research
paper is to demonstrate that immigration to the Rio Grande valley has had a negative impact. Effects
immigration has on the Valley s economy, employment, and education are discussed. The concepts of
informal and underground economy by Richardson, C. and Pisani, M. are covered to demonstrate the
unique economy the Rio Grande has. Poverty rates at a national and local level are compared. Studies
by Richardson, C. and Pagan, J. are used for their statistical information regarding unemployment in
the Rio Grande Valley from the years 2000 until today. Counterarguments regarding positive effects in
the Rio Grande are considered. Conclusion reached is that immigration in the Rio Grande Valley does
have a negative effect, although it is needed, to a certain point in employment and economy; however
a positive impact has been experienced in education.
How Mexico s Violence Affects the RGV Mexico is a country where the economy has been low for
years, and the violence has been high causing their people to seek jobs, and safety elsewhere.
Immigration from Mexico to the United States has always taken place. Mexicans cross the border,

cartels started, back in the year 2000 or so, job opportunities in Mexico keep decreasing, and families
struggle to bring food to their tables.

10 Things I Hate About You Speech
Figuring out who you are and what you want to be is a struggle everyone goes through. 10 Things I
Hate about You is a modern interpretation of the story Taming of The Shrew By William Shakespeare.
In the play, The Taming of the Shrew and the movie, 10 things I hate about You show how societal

In both mediums, the outliers of society conform for acceptance in others. In The Taming of the
Shrew, Katherine says, Why are our bodies soft, and weak, and smooth
But that our soft conditions and our hearts should well agree with our external parts? . Throughout the
story Katherine has been this very vivacious person, but now she is showing how she finally

she really wanted was acceptance. In 10 Things I Hate about You this same idea is scene again, but

The Electoral College System Is Outdated And Unfair
Every year on the fourth of November an election is taken place to select the next president of the
United States. Just recently, in the 2016 election, Hilary Clinton won the popular vote and Donald
Trump won the electoral vote, in which he was elected president. This made many Americans question
if the electoral college system is outdated and unfair and if the direct popular vote is a more effective
way of electing the president. This has happened twice where the candidate who has the popular vote
did not win the presidency. The problem that has arisen is that the rules of the presidential election
need to be replaced so that it will reflect the true opinion of the U.S. citizens. According to Edwards
III, under the constitution, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every state has two senators and the number of representatives that is proportional to its population
(Schumaker 12). Congress decides who they want to dictate how many electors each state has based it
off of the state s population (Edwards 14). The Constitution requires that winning candidate must have
270 of the Electoral College votes. For instance, during the 2004 election, Bush had collected 271
electoral votes if he had two fewer votes and Gore two more than both of the candidates would have
had fifty percent of the Electoral College votes (Schumaker 12).
What is a popular vote? A popular vote is a way for a candidate to get a majority of votes for an
election. The citizens of the U.S. vote on a presidential candidate.
How was the Electoral College Founded? The Electoral College was constructed to be a compromise
between the different ways of selecting the president. Originally the delegates of the Constitutional
Convention wanted Congress to select eh president, while others preferred the direct popular election
(Schumaker 13). While the Constitutional Convention proceeded, one of the founders established a
Committee of the Eleven to create a compromise for selecting the president (Schumaker 13). The
reason for the idea of the Electoral College many opposed to the direct popular vote because people
feared that the less popular vote would feel inferior to other states (Schumaker 13). This method was
widely accepted there was

The Band Of The Beatles
Even over 40 years after their breakup, it is almost impossible not to know who The Beatles are. This
band of the mid twentieth century set a high bar for all other musical groups at the time they were
active and even still today. Causing swarms of fans of all ages to scream and faint everywhere they
went, they were the world s most popular musicians. Although their name is well known, not enough
people know how the band that inspired millions came to be. The story of how two kids playing music
became four men traveling the world and performing for thousands of adoring fans at a time gives
dreamers hope. Today s generation cannot let tomorrow s generation forget that dreams do come true
if they try hard to make them happen and never give up, just as The Beatles never did. As unbelievable
as it might be, there are some people who think that this shockingly powerful band were not as famous

that there are bands that have accomplished more than The Beatles. It is true that some have come

Beatles easily influenced the way people dressed, listened to music, and views of the world (Brundrett

Oskar Schindler s Actions During the Holocaust Essay...
Oskar Schindler s Actions During the Holocaust
The Holocaust usually refers to Nazi Germany s systematic genocide of various peoples during the
Second World War, the main target of this designed massacre being the Jews. Approximately 6 million
Jews became the victims of this fanatical racism, slaughter, and cruelty. However, in all this madness,
there were still a few people with sound conscience and courage to act against these atrocities. The
most famous of these heroes would be Oskar Schindler, the once opportunistic businessman who,
later, spent every last of his pennies to save his 1200 Schindler Jews. People often deliberate on why
Oskar Schindler did what he did. However, the issue of interest should not be focused on why ... Show

In order to keep his Jews out of the death camps, Schindler spent a sum of 4 million German marks
which was an enormous sum of money for those times. People ask why. They ask why such a greedy
opportunistic person changed his way of living and spent the whole of his life and his money to save
the Jews. When asked this question in person, Schindler replied as follows.
I hated the brutality, the sadism, and the insanity of Nazism. I just couldn t stand by and see people
destroyed. I did what I could, what I had to do, what my conscience told me I must do. That s all there
is to it. Really, nothing more.
Like he said, that was all there was to the reason for Schindler s actions. Schindler believed that the
Germans were doing wrong when they started killing innocent people, and, therefore, did what was
right, which was trying to save as many victims as possible.
Any person with a sound mind and a sound conscience would have realized what Schindler had
realized. However, during this period of intense cruelty, the vast majority of German citizens stood by
and watched as their Jewish neighbors were dragged from their homes, stripped of their belongings,
and killed. Two famous psychological experiments illustrate why no one else did what Oskar
Schindler did.

between obedience to authority and personal conscience. The experiment began in July 1961, a

Transportation as a Source of Air Pollution
STRATEGIC APPROACH TO REDUCING VEHICLE EMISSIONS IN NIGERIA: ROLE OF
FLEET OPERATORS.
BEING A LECTURE PRESENTED BY ENGR. BG IBRAHIM fwc ACM (SED) AT SAFETY
MANAGERS TRAINING PROGRAMME AT FRSC ACADEMY, JOS ON THE 28TH
AUGUST,2009.
INTRODUCTION
1. In developed and developing countries, the history of air pollution problem has typically been high
levels of smoke and sulphur dioxide arising from the combustion of sulphur containing fossil fuels
such as coal for domestic and industrial purpose.[i] Industrial development and the use of fossil fuels
have affected the world climate adversely. In Nigeria epileptic power supply has brought about the use
of diesel and petrol powered generators virtually in all homes
2. The transport ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was also revealed that in 1998, a single car in Nigeria emitted 29,600kg of hydrocarbons, 34,000kg
of Nitrogen Oxides and 4,029 kg of different carbonate gasses over its average lifespan.[iii]
CAUSES OF POLLUTANTS IN VEHICLE
5. Motor vehicle use is now generally recognised as the source of more air pollution than any other
single activity in cities around the world. The internal combustion engine of a vehicle produces power
by burning fuel and changing the chemical energy of fuel into heat energy. The heat energy is then
converted into mechanical power. Cars and trucks do not burn all of the fuel that goes into the
combustion chamber. In fact, most vehicles only burn about 85% of the fuel and as the vehicle gets
older less and less fuel is burned. It is this unburned fuel that produces some harmful products which
are discharged from the engine and become air pollutants.[iv] Therefore, an engine s fuel system, and
its emission controls are closely interrelated. That is why attention is given to the requirements of
emission control in the design and operation of all parts of the fuel system in a vehicle.
EFFECTS OF POLLUTANTS IN VEHICLES
6. Adverse effects to human health include; a. Reduction in the amount of oxygen that can be
delivered to our body s organs and tissues, which can be life threatening caused by particles of carbon

Why The Fast Food Restaurant Essay
As I pushed the door open, I came to realize why the fast food restaurant was rated only three stars.
The food, it did not satisfy me, and it cost more than the ones I bought sporadically. As I walked
towards the ACC Highland campus, a man approached me. He was shorter, skinnier, and more fragile
than I am. Excuse me, do you have thirty seven cents? I don t have enough money for the bus, he said.
Whenever someone new approaches me, I always feel nervous, and this moment was no different. I
am sorry. I used the money to buy food I ate, I quickly said.
It s all right, he hopelessly replied.
He walked away, moving towards the restaurant, anticipating to get money from someone else.
Someone kind.
Someone who s willing to give a response that could make his day.
Someone that s not a liar unlike me.
As I walked towards the community college, my mind fluttered.
Why? Why did I lie? It was a simple 37 cents. Something that could have saved him from going
through the trouble of asking any more people than he has asked already. I even had a dime in my
pocket. I should have given that to him. Or I could have given him the full thirty seven cents from my
wallet. Why did I get nervous!?
I got frustrated. I felt regret. I started feeling hate towards myself and hoped that he would find a kind
person who was willing to give him thirty seven cents.

If Mr. Van Daan wasn t in the community at all, the Franks probably would ve had a better chance at

First, despite the hospitality the Franks show for the Van Daans, Mr Van Daan still betrays their trust.
He is truly selfish when it comes to the food situation in the household. Mr. Van Daan without anyone

Analysis Of Maus And The Sandman By Neil Gainman
When defining great literature, graphic novels are often the last source scholars and educators
consider. In general, graphic novels are seen as low brow, mass culture entertainment or as
pedagogical tools (Long 6). In recent years graphic novels have proven to be worthy of being
considered great literature and valuable tools in the classroom. Comic books should not be viewed
simply as aesthetic objects, but rather as texts which function when read by their audience within a
specific context. Our education curriculums are heavily relied on reading comprehension, which has
proven to be a struggle for visual learners. Graphic novels offer value, variety, and new medium for
literacy that acknowledges the impact of visuals. Novels such as Maus by Art Spiegelman and The
Sandman (vertigo) by Neil Gainman, not only appeal to visual learners, but are useful across all
curriculums. Maus and The Sandman offer different style narratives and visuals that reflect the diverse
nature of graphic novels. The variety in compositions between these two demonstrate the strengths of
the graphic novel genre, and how they can be considered valuable sources of education. The use of
word image combination allow the reader of graphic novels to experience much more than what words
allot. For visual learners that struggle with reading compression, the visual components of graphic
novels help portray the context in a medium that is easier for these learners to digest. Maus by Art

Isolation and Its Results in Poe s The Raven Essay
Isolation and Its Results in Poe s The Raven
The noticeable characteristic of the speaker in The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe is his stand offishness.
He cuts himself off from the outside world, not because the world itself is terrible but because of his
inward problems. This seclusion can bring ugly internal demons to the surface. The complications
resulting from isolation can include sadness, fear, despair, anger, insanity, self torture, and feelings of
entrapment. Each of these can be seen in The Raven, manifested in the speaker of the poem. The
opening stanza of The Raven introduces the reader to an isolated man in his study on a dreary night
reading old books and trying to stay awake. The silent solitude ... Show more content on

Solitude has made the speaker so uneasy that he is even uncertain about the rustling of each purple
curtain (line 13). Anyone who has spent time alone in a house at night knows this feeling. His heart
pounds as the curtains move, and now that some unknown force is knocking on the door he is even
more terrified. He tries to calm himself down by repeating that it is only some late visiter at his door
and nothing more (lines 17 18). The speaker has to gather all his courage just to investigate and greet
his guest. When he greets nothing but a dark space beyond the door, his mind races to conjure
frightening dreams no mortal dared to dream before (line 26). In his fright, he might have imagined it
to have been a ghost, or someone with ill intent lurking in the shadows and waiting to catch him in
surprise. According to Edgar Poe in The Philosophy of Composition, the character even possessed the
half fancy that it was the spirit of his dead mistress that knocked (1677). This is seen as the speaker
calls out the name of his beloved Lenore (lines 28 29). That is the only positive possibility considered,
and others, such as a caring and concerned friend, are not considered at all. His isolation and
depression have left him with nothing but negative feelings in every aspect. These feelings include
paranoia the feeling that something or someone is out to bring one harm, as seen in the thoughts

Forensic Accounting And Fraud Examination
Problem 1 12
With 20 percent of the inventory missing, along with large portions of the written and computer
records, Mary Soto should hire an external forensic account. Mary should not jump to conclusions and
call the police just yet, but may need to do so according to the findings of the forensic accountant.
Even if thefts have occurred calling the police and alerting the employees of her suspicion will not
always be in the best interest of Mary or the company. In our textbook Forensic Accounting and Fraud
Examination George Young asserts:
It is especially important in the initial notification and evaluation stage to keep the matter as quiet and
secret as is legally possible. In many cases, especially in small businesses, the owner manager s initial
reaction is associated with anger and an overwhelming desire to confront the suspected employee.
This temptation must be strongly resisted. Confronting the suspect too soon is one of the most
damaging things that can be done in an investigation. It is much better first to secretly gather all the
facts and understand the mechanics of the suspect s fraud scheme.
If Mary is not careful she could create some legal missteps which could further damage her and the
company. For example, Mary could be sued for defamation if it is found out that the missing records
and estimated losses are due to an accounting anomaly. However, with an estimated 20 percent of the
inventory missing, combined with the large amount of data missing

Bel Canto Opera Essay
Opera in the Romantic Period was a time when opera changed drastically, especially in the country of
Italy. The recognition of singers as being important, almost irreplaceable, in the art of bel canto opera
changed the idea of a vocalist in opera forever. A singer s voice was prized and Italian composers, like
Rossini, Donizetti, and Bellini wrote operas and works to showcase the voice, it s color, range and
agility. These Italian composers were moving away from the normal style of composition of the time,
and the composer Rossini, who set the stage for many other followers. Many of the operas written
during this time are still performed today and are highly acclaimed. For the most part, before Italy

No longer was the orchestra the main component to listen to when attending an opera. Librettists and
composers worked extremely close to get the right feel for arias and other pieces in the story. Bel
Canto was a form of singing that was pretty much defined by three Italian composers: Rossini,
Donizetti, and Bellini. These three composers had huge success in Italy and their operas are still being
performed to this day. These captivating operas like Il barbiere di Sivilglia, Lucia di lammermoor, and
Norma are three of the most popular and challenging operas that singers can be involved in. These
three composers really set the stage for the rise of Italian opera. Rossini is probably the most popular
composer of this era. His works are many and are extremely popular. Rossini was born in Pesaro in
1792 and on December15th, 1815 when he was only twenty three years old, he signed a contract to

How Does Memory Affect The Development Of Middle Childhood
With each growing year a child s vocabulary increases. By the time children are six years old, they
have become proficient at the knowledge of basic grammar and vocabulary of their main language. By
this age group, children are speaking parts of speech such as nouns, verbs, and adjectives. They are
capable of learning up to twenty words a day and they become more flexible and logical. Children can
comprehend prefixes, suffixes, metaphors, and other figures of speech. Because children can now
understand and use metaphors, it becomes easier for them to reveal and express their emotions. The
best way for children to learn most of their vocabulary is through their family and friends. Middle age
children tend to learn best when in an environment with their friends and family not in a class.
During middle childhood memory plays a large part in the child s developing and learning. Also,
memory improves significantly during this time period. At this age, all stages of memory are affected
by the development and experience of the child. Sensory memory, which is the first element of
memory, which improves slightly until the child reaches approximately ten years old, and then

The use of darkness and shadowing conveys a sense of mystery and of the unknown, altogether
foreshadowing events to come. Jim is displayed under a shadow and his mother is in the sunlight next
to the house. Wyeth designed this image to show that Jim is about to go on a mysterious journey, and
his mother is going to stay where she is. Jim states, I said goodbye to mother and the cove where I had
lived since I was born, and the dear old Admiral Benbow since he was repainted, no longer quite so
dear, (57). Jim is walking away from everything that he has ever known and starting his new life as an
adult. Jim s house and his mother are illuminated by the light to show that they are going to stay in a
safe, known place; meanwhile, the darker figures, like Jim, are heading to an unknown destination.
The use of darkness shows that Jim has a dark path ahead of him. Normally, darkness is associated
with evil and corruption, which is fitting for Jim s path. The use of darkness can foreshadow later in
the novel to when Jim kills Israel Hands. Ultimately, when Jim kills a man this shows how he became
corrupt along his adventure. When Jim killed Hands, this showed his transition from innocence to
corruption, which can also be viewed as his maturation to an adult. All transitions can mature us in
both good and detrimental ways this instance happened to be

Flahtahl s Propaganda Triumph Of The Will ( 1938 )
Since the advent of documentary film with Robert Flaherty s Nanook of the North (1922), those with
power have sought to use it as a tool in their arsenal to reach people. Advances in communications
technology in the early twentieth century allowed it to be used as a one way message delivery system
to the masses, however the ways in which this has been implemented have varied hugely based on
context and political viewpoint. Through consideration of Leni Riefenstahl s propaganda Triumph of
the Will (1935), and Lorentz s advocacy documentary The River (1938) this essay will analyse the
concepts of persuasion, education and propaganda in documentary film, discussing the similarities and
differences between these areas. It is worth first briefly defining the ideas that this essay will cover,
education is at its purest form the provision of information and systematic instruction while persuasion
is the attempt to induce change through reasoning. Propaganda, conversely, is non objective/biased
information used to promote a point of view. Although on paper the distinctions seem clear, in
practical use it quickly becomes apparent how much these lines can blur. If persuasion is a technique
that attempts to change viewpoints, how far does it really sit from this idea of propaganda? Both films
that will be discussed were produced in the nineteen thirties, a turbulent political landscape where the
great depression and high unemployment rates in Europe had put democratic capitalism under

The pressures of the Cold War made strong nuclear families with breadwinning fathers and
domesticated mothers symbols of a healthy nation. In the film, Edna Turnblad serves to symbolize the
traditional image of the ideal American woman housewife. This is evident by the content of her
stereotypical conversations. For instance, when Edna Turnblad meets Motormouth Maybelle for the
first time, she explains that she could not stay for long because she left the iron on back at home.
Although Maybelle comes from a completely different racial background than her, she automatically
sympathizes with Mrs. Turnblad because as a woman she personally understands what it is like to
leave the iron on. John Water s decision to hold a scene in which these distinct women could share
commonality over an iron was not arbitrarily incorporated into the film, but was built in precisely to
stress that all women tend to housework chores, regardless of race. Although she is a housewife, Mrs.
Turnblad is also in charge of her own laundry business. Although women were discouraged from

  • 2. Game Of Thrones Theme Of Death In Game of Thrones one of the few constants throughout the show is death. In the third scene of the show someone is killed, and people are killed right up to season seven s finale. Almost everyone in Game of Thrones is faced with at least one near death experience, and all of the characters handle it in different ways. Being faced with death constantly leads to a couple of questions what emotions should we face when we are about to die, and should we be afraid of death? The emotions that surround death will always change with the circumstance, but fear is a very normal and acceptable emption to fear, especially without a belief in an afterlife. However, it is also acceptable to not fear death. I don t think there is actually an acceptable emotion or answer to the question that I posed. Depending on age, circumstance of death, and belief in religion/afterlife you will have different feelings towards death, but all of these feelings are valid. There are not correct or incorrect feelings when it comes to death. While it is natural to be scared of death, it is just as natural to accept your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Factors That Affect The Rate Of Catalytic Process Vent pipes in cars contain small amount of Platinum rhodium alloy that transforms toxic emission such as Carbon Monoxide and Nitrogen Dioxide to harmless gas such as Carbon Dioxide. During that process, Catalyst plays an important role in accelerating the gas transformation, in which lowers the activation energy. As an important element in the chemical reaction, catalysts are required in different types of chemical reactions to increase the speed for reaction. During the process of speeding up reaction, the property of catalyst itself will not change as the reaction takes place. But there are other factors could affect the catalytic process, such as temperature, density, or pressure. Besides these factors, is there any other factor that could affect the efficiency of catalytic process? That triggers my interest of investigation. During agricultural use of catalyst, farmers try to change the pH value of fertilizer to control the amount of time seeds need to germinate . Does pH value of solution affect the catalytic efficiency? That becomes next step of investigation. In order to change the pH values of solution but keep the property of solution itself constant. I need to add acid or alkali solution that will not affect with either reactant or product. The acidity of solution is determined by the number of H+ and the alkalinity of solution is determined by the number of (OH) in the solution. • 8. Auditory System Essay The world contains all kinds of energy that translates into information about what we see, hear, smell, touch and taste. A sensory system is a part of the nervous system responsible for processing specific sensory information. The components of a sensory system include sensory receptors, neural pathways, and parts of the brain involved in sensory perception. To begin, energy from the environment stimulates the receptor cells in whichever sense organ is being used. If this information were auditory, the ear would convert sound waves in the air into electrical impulses that would further be interpreted by the brain as sound. The movements of the membranes then send the vibrations down the scala tympani. A structure called the Organ of Corti, which is situated on the basilar membrane, becomes stimulated as the membrane vibrates and sends nerve impulses to the brain. Within the Organ of Corti are a group of specialized cells called hair cells, which are covered by the tectorial membrane. As the basilar membrane vibrates, the hair cells are bents and push up against the tectorial membrane. This causes the hair cells to fire and send nerve impulses to the auditory cortex on each of the brains hemispheres through the cochlear nerve. How we determine pitch can be explained with two different theories. The Place Theory states that the entire basilar membrane does not vibrate at once so different parts of the basilar membrane respond to different frequencies of sound. Lower frequency sounds vibrate the basilar membrane near the apex of the cochlea while higher frequency sounds produce vibrations closer to the base. The Frequency Theory states that the frequency of firing matches the frequency of the sound wave. Hearing loss can occur for a number of reasons. Damage to the eardrum due to age and prolonged exposure to loud noise may cause the hairs or nerve cells in the cochlea to wear out and become less effective. A buildup of earwax can block the ear canal and prevent of sound waves from entering the eardrum. Otosclerosis, a genetic form of hearing loss in which the stapes is fixed ... • 10. Analysis Of The Lady Of Shalott In the story by Alfred Tennyson, The Lady of Shalott the story is about a fairy who is isolated from the outside world in a tower. In a mythical and fairytale like setting, the author uses imagery and the Lady Shalott s character to explain the underlying message to his readers. The message of this story is the importance of one s identity seen in the world. The author explains this aspect through the isolation of Lady Shalott to show that love and affection is needed to enhance this identity. We as readers are introduced early on to whom Lady Shalott really is and what her environment is like. The author describes the island of Shalott dividing Lady Shalott s world of her tower on one side of the river and another area of land on the other; the river keeping these areas apart. The author emphasizes that the Lady of Shalott is unknown to society by stating, But who hath seen her wave her hand? Thus, we can see that the Lady of Shalott is isolated in a tower being basically nonexistent to others. Through looking outside her window, she can see some shadows. Lady Shalott states, I am half sick of shadows to emphasize to the reader that she enjoys seeing someone else, however, haven t been physically interacted with one before. These aspects of the Lady of Shalott s environment are crucial and impactful to this aspect of loneliness on identity. Tennyson states that the Lady of Shalott is a fairy who weaves webs during her time in the tower. The author uses this mythical character of a fairy due to their stereotypes. Such include a very dainty and sometimes ditsy fairytale like creature. The ideas of being ditsy can come from the fairies in Sleeping Beauty. The author uses this dainty and ditsy character to show the Lady of Shalott being unaware of the outside world because of her isolation. The author also mentions that the Lady of Shalott has an unknown curse put upon her. Without going into much detail, the author states how this curse is unknown to herself. This curse could possibly be an aspect of her own self. Because of Lady Shalott s isolation, she is unaware of what the outside world is like. Thus, her mindset up this curse upon herself is due to unknown aspects of life. Going further into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just recently, in the 2016 election, Hilary Clinton won the popular vote and Donald Trump won the electoral vote, in which he was elected president. This made many Americans question if the electoral college system is outdated and unfair and if the direct popular vote is a more effective way of electing the president. This has happened twice where the candidate who has the popular vote did not win the presidency. When asked this question in person, Schindler replied as follows. I hated the brutality, the sadism, and the insanity of Nazism. I just couldn t stand by and see people destroyed. I did what I could, what I had to do, what my conscience told me I must do. That s all there is to it. Really, nothing more. Schindler believed that the Germans were doing wrong when they started killing innocent people, and, therefore, did what was right, which was trying to save as many victims as possible. Any person with a sound mind and a sound conscience would have realized what Schindler had realized. However, during this period of intense cruelty, the vast majority of German citizens stood by and watched as their Jewish neighbors were dragged from their homes, stripped of their belongings, and killed. Motor vehicle use is now generally recognised as the source of more air pollution than any other single activity in cities around the world. The internal combustion engine of a vehicle produces power by burning fuel and changing the chemical energy of fuel into heat energy. The heat energy is then converted into mechanical power. Cars and trucks do not burn all of the fuel that goes into the combustion chamber. In fact, most vehicles only burn about 85% of the fuel and as the vehicle gets older less and less fuel is burned. It is this unburned fuel that produces some harmful products which are discharged from the engine and become air pollutants.[iv] Therefore, an engine s fuel system, and its emission controls are closely interrelated. That is why attention is given to the requirements of emission control in the design and operation of all parts of the fuel system in a vehicle. EFFECTS OF POLLUTANTS IN VEHICLES 6. • 26. Analysis Of Maus And The Sandman By Neil Gainman When defining great literature, graphic novels are often the last source scholars and educators consider. In general, graphic novels are seen as low brow, mass culture entertainment or as pedagogical tools (Long 6). In recent years graphic novels have proven to be worthy of being considered great literature and valuable tools in the classroom. Comic books should not be viewed simply as aesthetic objects, but rather as texts which function when read by their audience within a specific context. Our education curriculums are heavily relied on reading comprehension, which has proven to be a struggle for visual learners. Graphic novels offer value, variety, and new medium for literacy that acknowledges the impact of visuals. Novels such as Maus by Art Spiegelman and The Sandman (vertigo) by Neil Gainman, not only appeal to visual learners, but are useful across all curriculums. Maus and The Sandman offer different style narratives and visuals that reflect the diverse nature of graphic novels. The variety in compositions between these two demonstrate the strengths of the graphic novel genre, and how they can be considered valuable sources of education. The use of word image combination allow the reader of graphic novels to experience much more than what words allot. For visual learners that struggle with reading compression, the visual components of graphic novels help portray the context in a medium that is easier for these learners to digest. • 27. Isolation and Its Results in Poe s The Raven Essay Isolation and Its Results in Poe s The Raven The noticeable characteristic of the speaker in The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe is his stand offishness. He cuts himself off from the outside world, not because the world itself is terrible but because of his inward problems. This seclusion can bring ugly internal demons to the surface. The complications resulting from isolation can include sadness, fear, despair, anger, insanity, self torture, and feelings of entrapment. Each of these can be seen in The Raven, manifested in the speaker of the poem. The opening stanza of The Raven introduces the reader to an isolated man in his study on a dreary night reading old books and trying to stay awake. The silent solitude ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Solitude has made the speaker so uneasy that he is even uncertain about the rustling of each purple curtain (line 13). Anyone who has spent time alone in a house at night knows this feeling. His heart pounds as the curtains move, and now that some unknown force is knocking on the door he is even more terrified. He tries to calm himself down by repeating that it is only some late visiter at his door and nothing more (lines 17 18). The speaker has to gather all his courage just to investigate and greet his guest. When he greets nothing but a dark space beyond the door, his mind races to conjure frightening dreams no mortal dared to dream before (line 26). In his fright, he might have imagined it to have been a ghost, or someone with ill intent lurking in the shadows and waiting to catch him in surprise. According to Edgar Poe in The Philosophy of Composition, the character even possessed the half fancy that it was the spirit of his dead mistress that knocked (1677). This is seen as the speaker calls out the name of his beloved Lenore (lines 28 29). That is the only positive possibility considered, and others, such as a caring and concerned friend, are not considered at all. His isolation and depression have left him with nothing but negative feelings in every aspect. These feelings include paranoia the feeling that something or someone is out to bring one harm, as seen in the thoughts swirling in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Forensic Accounting And Fraud Examination Problem 1 12 With 20 percent of the inventory missing, along with large portions of the written and computer records, Mary Soto should hire an external forensic account. Mary should not jump to conclusions and call the police just yet, but may need to do so according to the findings of the forensic accountant. Even if thefts have occurred calling the police and alerting the employees of her suspicion will not always be in the best interest of Mary or the company. In our textbook Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination George Young asserts: It is especially important in the initial notification and evaluation stage to keep the matter as quiet and secret as is legally possible. In many cases, especially in small businesses, the owner manager s initial reaction is associated with anger and an overwhelming desire to confront the suspected employee. This temptation must be strongly resisted. Confronting the suspect too soon is one of the most damaging things that can be done in an investigation. It is much better first to secretly gather all the facts and understand the mechanics of the suspect s fraud scheme. If Mary is not careful she could create some legal missteps which could further damage her and the company. For example, Mary could be sued for defamation if it is found out that the missing records and estimated losses are due to an accounting anomaly. However, with an estimated 20 percent of the inventory missing, combined with the large amount of data missing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Flahtahl s Propaganda Triumph Of The Will ( 1938 ) Since the advent of documentary film with Robert Flaherty s Nanook of the North (1922), those with power have sought to use it as a tool in their arsenal to reach people. Advances in communications technology in the early twentieth century allowed it to be used as a one way message delivery system to the masses, however the ways in which this has been implemented have varied hugely based on context and political viewpoint. Through consideration of Leni Riefenstahl s propaganda Triumph of the Will (1935), and Lorentz s advocacy documentary The River (1938) this essay will analyse the concepts of persuasion, education and propaganda in documentary film, discussing the similarities and differences between these areas. It is worth first briefly defining the ideas that this essay will cover, education is at its purest form the provision of information and systematic instruction while persuasion is the attempt to induce change through reasoning. Propaganda, conversely, is non objective/biased information used to promote a point of view. Although on paper the distinctions seem clear, in practical use it quickly becomes apparent how much these lines can blur. If persuasion is a technique that attempts to change viewpoints, how far does it really sit from this idea of propaganda? In the film, Edna Turnblad serves to symbolize the traditional image of the ideal American woman housewife. This is evident by the content of her stereotypical conversations. For instance, when Edna Turnblad meets Motormouth Maybelle for the first time, she explains that she could not stay for long because she left the iron on back at home. Although Maybelle comes from a completely different racial background than her, she automatically sympathizes with Mrs. Turnblad because as a woman she personally understands what it is like to leave the iron on. John Water s decision to hold a scene in which these distinct women could share commonality over an iron was not arbitrarily incorporated into the film, but was built in precisely to stress that all women tend to housework chores, regardless of race. Although she is a housewife, Mrs. Turnblad is also in charge of her own laundry business.
