What Is The Theme Of Absolute Equality In Harrison Bergeron
A society with absolute equality is perceived by many people as a perfect society, but it isn t
always as good as it ought to be. In Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron, the author depicts Harrison as
a recalcitrant, bright 14 year old boy who publicly defies the law that leads to a disastrous
outcome. In the year 2081, everybody is finally all equal. Vonnegut compares how Harrison is
unlike those other people. Harrison Bergeronmay be intelligent, however, his bold act initiates a
turn of events.
Harrison Bergeron is a nonconformist unlike his parents, George and Hazel. In contrast, Hazel and
George feared of stripping themselves of absolute equality. Since absolute equality is prominently
enforced by their government, They were all equal in every

Single Mom
The Sum Up: It Ain t Easy Being A Single Mom
Apparently, among the myopic ultra conservative pundits of conventional wisdom, there is more
than enough of the blaming, shaming and lumping of single mothers into to one maternal heap of
failure. But that is blatantly unfair. It is undeniable that many women who find themselves
single mothers living in a tough economic situation made poor choices about planning for
motherhood. However, given that single mothers from a diversity of backgrounds are much
more likely to be living with economic insecurity than single fathers, it can t all be due to low
income women s lousy decision making or a lack of financial self restraint or a weak motivation
to get a good education and job. Because if you take in the bigger picture, you will find that a
majority of low income mothers, who are a family s lone breadwinner, are carrying the extra
weight of low paying jobs and the high cost of childcare, and ... Show more content on

Kristi Williams, an associate professor of sociology at Ohio State University, published a study in
the American Sociological Review, which showed that the negative health consequences for
single moms can be long lasting, and they are unlikely to go away even if those women fare
financially better later in life. Research has clearly shown the toll that long term stress takes on
health and we know that single mothers have a great deal of stress in their lives, Williams said.
Adding to that information, Caryn Rabin, writing in The New York Times about single mothers
health risks, explains, Middle aged women who were single when they had their first child are in
worse health than similar women who were married when first giving birth. Clearly, the studies
make an important point: the cumulative stress women experience as a single mother has long term

Development Of Developing And Managing Offerings
Developing and managing offerings constitute one of the highest risk any organization can make.
These are decisions that can led to bankruptcy if it fails nonetheless firms needs to continuously
seek for ways to meet those needs if they must stay in business. Sure, in your area you have seen
some businesses shut their doors after just a few periods of existence. Some firms like Adidas,
Samsung and Nike have more than one product while others have just one. What is certain in this
relationship is that the development process follow seven steps principles but may differ based on
the business make up and the organization. The first step of this process is idea development. Ide

and influential than Kanye West since the start of the millenium. As soon as the former beatmaker

the art of using the human voice. Flaunting his pink polo and backpack, Kanye proved to be quite

Summary Of Goldman Sach s Stock Price
Goldman Sach s stock price decreased $9.73 from $239.45 as of December 31, 2016 to $229.72
as of March 31, 2017. This 4% decrease can be primarily attributed to the Republican Party s
failure to pass a replacement to the Affordable Care Act. The company s stock price performance
over the quarter justifies this assertion. Goldman s stockprice closed above its December 31, 2017
price for eight straight days to kick off 2017. Following the strong start to the new fiscal year, the
stock stalled in anticipation of the company s 2016 results. However, the decline in price was
temporary as the company announced strong fourth quarter results. Highlights included better than
expected performance in respect to both revenue and earnings. Consequently,

Martin Luther s Beliefs
Martin Luther was the starting point for all of the Protestant churches of today. His views and
beliefs rose from the need of reformation in the Catholic church. Luther was a devoted man of
God. When he saw the need for reformation within the Catholic Church, he took action. Luther
took a stand with five solas: scripture alone, faith alone, Christ alone, grace alone, and for the
glory of God alone. Sola Scriptura is Latin for scripture alone. This was the first sola that Luther
followed in his life. Luther made fun of the people s dependence on their relics. In Rome, there
were many items that were said to be priceless relics and the people could pay money to see or
sometimes touch the items. God says that we should not put our trust in items,... Show more content

Through scripture alone Luther taught the people that scripture was what they needed, not the
pope. Faith alone taught that everyone had to put their faith in God. Everyone puts their faith in
something and Luther was there to tell the people to put their faith in God. He also told the
people that Christ was their mediator and was the only way to heaven. Luther said that everyone
deserved death but eternal life was given through God s grace. Sola Gratia tells us that grace is
free, but not cheap. Soli Deo Gloria, for the glory of God alone, taught the people that everything
they do needs to be for the glory of God alone. Martin Luther stood up against the impure practices
of the church. He took a stand and tried to reform the church. Looking back, we can see how he

The Impact Of The Plaza Accord
The Plaza Accord or Plaza Agreement was the agreement, which signed in 1985 at Plaza Hotel in
New York City, among the G 5 nations which included France, Germany, the United States, Japan,
and the United Kingdom agreed to operate exchange rates by depreciating US dollar relative to the
Japanese yen and the German Deutsche mark. The objective of the Plaza Accordwas to correct trade
imbalances between the U.S. and Germany and the U.S. and Japan. Also to help the U.S. improve
its huge trade deficit and to stimulate its economy to climb out of the 1980 s long recession.
The United States experienced 3% GDP growth during 1983 and 1984 with a current account
deficit approaching approximately 3 3.5% of GDP, while European nations faced a negative GDP
growth of 0.7% with huge trade surpluses. The same thing happened to Japan. Trade deficits in
general need foreign financing. During the early to mid 80s, for the United States, Japan and West
Germany were buying United States bonds, notes and bills from their surpluses to finance our
current deficits at the expense of their own economies.
In 1985, inflation was low and growth was rapid. Low inflation allowed for low interest rates,
however there was a threat of protectionist tariffs entering the economy. The US was... Show more

Generalized Anxiety Disorders In America
Generalized Anxiety Disorder affects millions of Americans each year. Typically, those who
struggle with anxiety on such a regular basis struggle with fatigue and poor concentration. Although
the effects of anxiety are easier to define, the causes, unfortunately, are not. Often, figuring out the
exact causes for anxietyproves difficult, as it varies from person to person. There are, however,
some major commonalities between individuals with anxiety, such as workload, social situations,
or other disorders. In today s hectic society, people s schedules are busier than ever. Adults are
expected to balance multiple areas of their lives, including work, school, and family. If an
individual becomes sick, he or she may fall behind in one area, which

2.1. Hydrazones:
Hydrazones are a special class of organic compound in the Schiff base family. They are
characterized by the prescence of azomethine ( C=N N=C 15 min). The hydrazones obtained are
tested for their DNA cleavage properties and some of them are found to show good chemical
nuclease activity in the presence of both oxidizing agent (H2O2) and reducing agent (MPA). Some
of them exhibited hydrolytic activity and their antioxidant activity was found to be very low.

Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon a Movie Directed by Ang Lee
Beyond the boundary of East and West
Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon, one of the most successful and popular Chinese language
movie in the West directed by Ang Lee, was considered as an eastern film for the western
audience and a western film for the east. I didn t see any tiger or dragon in Crouching Tiger,
Hidden Dragon; then I get it they all crouched and hid. This joke provoked a wave of laughter
during an award ceremony in the United States, but my response was a satiric sneer. This is
because the phrase crouching tiger, hidden dragon in Chinese is an old idiom, which should rather
be understood by its metaphorical meaning instead of interpreting it literally, as the joke teller did.
The same joke created different reactions among audiences of different regions; similarly, the same
film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Crouching Tiger) received diverse responses in the United
States and China. Compare to its huge popularity in the west, this movie did not strike such success
in Chinese community especially mainland China, where the story takes place. In many
mainstream movie communities like Mtime and Douban in China, Crouching Tiger does not rank
even top 30 in overall film ratings. How does it happen? I think the director and his filming style is
a really important clue for this question. And with the director s unique filming style, Crouching
Tiger succeeds internationally and differs itself from other martial arts genre and Hollywood action

ABSTRACT
The relationship between language and communication in the business of information encoding and
dissemination cannot be over looked. Despite the fact that the two concepts are different in
meaning, the roles they play are complementary in many ways. Language is a process by which
information can be carried out from one party to another, while communication refers to the chain

Bolinger (1975:14), views language as: a system of vocal auditory communication interacting with
the experiences of its users, employing conventional signs composed of arbitrarily patterned sound
units and assembled according to set rules . In another development, Essien (1998:2) sees language
as: A system of structured arbitrary vocal symbols by means of which human beings make meaning
and communicate with each other in a given community.... These definitions recognize the
communicative role of language which is specifically used by human beings for the purpose of
interaction. By implication, language is in essence a perfect means of expression among every
known people. It is important to note that language determines the world view of a people. It is the
connection between language and communication in information delivery for national
transformation that is the fulcrum of this discourse. In as much as human beings use language,
communication remains its primary target.
2.1: FUNCTIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF LANGUAGE
These can be seen as some special qualities and role that are common to a typical human language.

Challenges of Religious Pluralism Essay
For centuries, religion in America has been more of a family affair. What this means is that despite
the different groupings, almost all major religions have been united under the same American
experience. Almost all the main religious denominations have been required to conform to the
dictates of Protestantism. Maybe this has been derived from the belief that almost all of these
groupings have been responsible for shaping America as we know it today. However, many things
have happened in the past few decades to change the way religions have been conducting
themselves. One theme that has overly changed over the years is that of pluralism. For many years,
America has been a haven of different groupings of people. The British immigration... Show more

This philosopher incorporated the grouping of Aristotle in to Christianity. According to this law, all
important human principles have a proper reason that is dictated by nature. An example of this is
sexual intercourse whose main goal is procreation. The church has repeatedly fought the use of
contraceptives as a means of family planning arguing that it contravenes Gods purpose of
procreation. To devout Catholics, this is a sign of immorality and should therefore be fought by all
people of good will. Influence from outside has caused scholars in the church to question such
things as sexuality in its different forms. This has called the church to realize, that society has
changed and that there is need for the church to change too. Another area where the Catholic Church
has modified its activities to suit European notions is on the issue of penance. Traditionally, the
practice was administered on a very personal basis. In the process of penitents, those seeking
forgiveness, would kneel in a specially made box known as the confessional. Usually, this box
consisted of screens that divided the priest and the penitent. This was meant to create an air of
anonymity between the two. The priest would then order the penitent to offer a set of prayer or
observe other religious rituals for the forgiveness to take effect. However, over the years, people
have criticized this move as too impersonal. This practice has been modified and today the practice

The Friar Is To Blame
Friar Lawrence was a holy man and his duties were simple to uphold the masses, serve others who
are in need of help and the task of teaching. However, he defined and went against his own
authority and therefore, disobeyed his role as a priest in the Catholic Church.
It is clear that The Friar was irresponsible for marrying two exceptionally young children based on
the idea that their secret marriage would help restore peace to Verona and most importantly end the
feud.
The evidence which puts the blame on the Friar around the topic is going to the cell and marrying
them, keeping it a secret instead of telling the family and listening to Romeo request. This was
obviously not the way a priest of the Catholic Church should act no matter the circumstance or

water is piped through a steam generator and
converts a secondary water supply into steam to
power the turbine. The two water supplies do not
mix (Galperin 45).
A gas cooled reactor is similar to a
pressurized water reactor. The only main
difference is that helium or carbon dioxide gas
replaces the water in the primary loop. These
reactors cost more to operate and to build, but are
more energy efficient (Galperin 46).
The last main type of reactor is a breeder reactor.
This is very different then other reactors because it
produces more fissionable material then it
consumes. A breeder reactor fuels with a
combination of plutonium and uranium. A breeder
reactor would be extremely useful if uranium was
scarce. It takes about 10 to 60 years to use up the
fuel from just one cycle (Galperin 46).

High level wastes can let out very large amounts

How Chemistry Is Related To The Forensics Of Blood
Many sciences play a key role in looking at the forensics of blood. One of the sciences that

I was introduced to Rayo Santos a new car lot in Lewisville, TX. I was given the opportunity of
creating a new identity for this business. The owner of Rayo Santos, Juan Carlos Olvera, gave
me instructions on what were some of the boundaries of the design, like using the colors of the
Mexican flag and using the name itself as the logo. Rayo Santos meaning Holy Thunder in
Spanish. Through the process of researching for inspiration and sketching, I finally found the
perfect solution by using a Halo and a Thunderbolt for the logo. I believe that going for a simple
and modern design was the correct way to achieve this design. After being introduced to Elda
Chavez, owner of Sky Event Center, I knew I wanted to take the challenge and the adventure of
redesigning their brand look. Sky Event Center is a place where the enjoyment of different
celebrations takes place. The previous logo had a good color scheme but in my personal
opinion, it seemed like it was made for a car wash and it did not appear to be made for a
ballroom, and surely did not reflect the beauty and elegance of the interior. I developed a new
logo that took out the beauty and gave it the sophisticated look it needed by using a self made
typeface that fits the business more accordingly. The mark itself is an abstract representation of a
flower and a disco ball with a combination of a cool color scheme, to remind the people of the
blues and purples of the evening sky. Dos Primos, a taco restaurant full of culture

Blood and Digestion
Blood a journey through the body. You might find yourself asking, what does blood have to do with
digestion, respiration and circulation? Hopefully, after the presentation all of your questions will be
answered.
When a person thinks of digestion they usually think about what happens in the stomach. A lot has
happened to digest the food way before it gets to the stomach. It starts in the mouth or oral cavity.
It is a process called mechanical digestion. First, Mastication begins. Mastication is the chewing of
the food. A person will crush, grind and tear the food apart. That gets the food ready for
deglutition. Deglutition is the swallowing of the mashed up food. When we swallow peristalsis

Like the nose it also filters dust and other particles from reaching the lungs, and it has mucous
membranes to warm and moisten the air. When the air leaves the pharynx it moves on to the
larynx. The larynx is also called the voice box. It not only remains open for speech, but also during
respiration. The larynx merges with the trachea just below the vocal cords. The trachea is also
called the wind pipe, and it is a one inch tube that connects to the bronchi. The bronchi divide into
the right and left mainstream bronchi. After entering a lung each side branches off forming many
smaller passages. In the center of the bronchi is the lumen. It is the central opening where the air
passes through.
The lungs are sponges that fill with air, and fill every inch the surrounding thoracic cavity. The
lungs contain lobes. The lobes divide each lung, and the right lung being bigger has more lobe
divisions. The pulmonary veins enter here and exit here as well. Inside the lungs are clusters of
air sacks that are called alveoli. The alveoli are part of the bronchioles that enter each lung. The
oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged in the lungs. The exchange happens from a small blood
vassal nod the alveoli. When the oxygen exchange is completed the inhaled air moves into the
blood. While the oxygen moves into the blood the carbon dioxide is exhaled by the lungs. Before
the blood can be moved properly it has to be made into oxyhemoglobin.

How Writing Affects Your Life
No matter how much you enjoy or do not enjoy reading and writing we all have a story how it
has impacted out life. Literacy has a big impact on us all, if we didn t have it we would be lost.
We wouldn t be able to text our friends and family to stay in touch. We wouldn t have anything to
do with social media. We would lose entertainment. Those are just the basics of why reading and
writinghas a big impact on our lives. Majority people have a deeper more meaningful experience
with reading and/or writing. I personally have never been the best at writing because I have

Classmates of mine from grade school had jokes about how my texts were always a brain

similarly. The first topic mentioned in both reviews is the difficulty that must be met when

topic, and how they write their introductory statements sets the tone for the rest of the review.
These elements in both reviews are reiterated in their conclusions which as coincidentally are as

However, the analysis of the text of the novel from a post colonial perspective reveals the
precision with which Forster depicted the socio psychological dilemma of Anglo Indians during
the period of the British Raj. A close examination of Forster s depiction of India will further our
understanding of the psychological dilemma of Anglo Indians who wish to call India home. In this
article, I will highlight the process of formatting (i.e. the process by which is created the coloniser
and his demonised other which is the colonised), without which Anglo Indians would not be
accepted into the community of the colony. I will also highlight those moments when Forster could
not help but feel the gulf that separates him from the Indians. Further, I will focus on the problem
of race relations. Such analysis is vital for understanding the deep thematic meaning of the literary
text and appreciating the problems of identity formation and the complexities of colonial discourse.

Rodman Williams The Pentecostal Reality
The Pentecostal Reality is a book written by J. Rodman Williams, expressing his views on the
charismatic revival going on in the church. From a Presbyterian background Williams takes an in
depth theological approach to the holy spirt and its reality in the church. He also underlines the
holy sprit s importance with connecting to the divine on a spiritual level. He continues on by
addressing the arguments of the Holy Spiritis the evidence in speaking in tongues and on
sanctification and how it s a continuing process rather than instantaneous one.
Williams is also the author of numerous books that also give his theology Christianity. He graduated

Williams exaggerated how it is imperative that the church of today be fully acquainted with the
nature of the Pentecostal reality and adopt a positive attitude toward its occurrence. Reference has
been made to the opposition that often has developed against it. Doubtless, fault lies partly among
those of Pentecostal experience who in many cases have misguidedly represented its significance
(e.g., as a kind of superior Christianity or even the real thing ) and thereby brought about
disharmony and division. But this is only a small part of the total picture, for often, regardless of
the adequacy of the witness, antipathy has been aroused. This is quite understandable in light of the
fact that the tradition of the church (as noted) and, even more, the long inherited structure of
Christian faith and practice has had no adequate place for the Pentecostal experience. The
Pentecostal reality thus appears as a threat; and for the sake of protecting what is already
established, strong efforts are often made to repel an apparently foreign body. But now it is
fervently to be hoped that, with more adequate understanding of what the Pentecostal reality means,
and its signal importance for the full life of the church, a new, positive, and expectant attitude can

How Does Glycolysis Affect Yeast Fermentation
Abstract
Sugars catabolize (break down) through the process of glycolysis. Glycolysis causes the sugar to
undergo fermentation, which yields CO2. In this experiment, different sugar solutions were mixed
with a yeast solution in order to see how fast and if they react to produce CO2. The yeast solution
caused the sugar solutions to undergo glycolysis and produce CO2. Glucose syrup, White sugar,
Artificial
Sweetener all yielded CO2, yet Corn flour did not.
Introduction
The purpose behind this experiment is to identify a correlation between the production of CO2
when yeast is exposed to water and heat. Yeast being fungi requires nutrients (sugar/carbohydrates),
water, heat and oxygen to grow and survive like most other living organism. As a bi product of its
growth the fungi should produce CO2. The experiment involves testing 3 different forms of sugars
and 1 type of flour to show how yeast reacts with each under the correct conditions, then measuring
the amount of gas produced.

Hooper s state of mind. These authors uses of language skills show not only their excellent
command of the English language but also their great desire to find the perfect word to fit their
story and their style of writing.
The greatest underlying difference in Poe and Hawthorne s stories are their categorized styles.
Hawthorne is an author drawn to writings of romance, which holds broad guidelines. He uses his
unexplained happenings as part of this genre. Hawthorne uses his characters to portray his belief
that the truth of life comes from the human heart. Hawthorne s romantic literature likes to use the
extraordinary. The importance of nature plays a strong role when the secrecy and evil of the
woods are described and gossiped about in The Scarlet Letter. All of these aspects portray stories
built on the romance theory, which Hawthorne helped to develop.
Poe s writing style was much like that of Hawthorne s, but drew from the darker side of romance
creations. This gothic mood believed in the dark truths of the human heart, which are the ends and
motivations for many of his stories. Human corruption and violence ends in murder in The Black
Cat . Gothic writings move more into the supernatural side, which lets observer of the see a living
person in the picture at his first, sleepy glance.

The Scientific Revolution Essay
During the Scientific Revolution scientists such as Galileo, Copernicus, Descartes and Bacon
wrestled with questions about God, human aptitude, and the possibilities of understanding the
world. Eventually, the implications of the new scientific findings began to affect the way people
thought and behaved throughout Europe. Society began to question the authority of traditional
knowledge about the universe. This in turn, allowed them to question traditional views of the
state and social order. No longer was the world constructed as the somewhat simple Ptolemaic
Model suggested. The Earth for the first time became explicable and was no longer the center of

The statement acts to justify his finding with the church and connect them to God. Copernicus
realized that the church would be quick to judge him, and possibly this is why he didn t publish
his theories until late in his life. His discoveries were not so much as important as were his
methods of observation and application of mathematics to explain the world. His methods of
discovery helped model the direction of science over the next hundred years.
Another important figure in the Scientific Revolution was Galileo Galilei. He was an Italian born
professor of mathematics who had a great interest in the workings of the universe. Galileo served as
a professor at the University of Padua, and it was during this time that he began to question the
accuracy of the Churches representation of the world. Galileo s approach towards knowledge was
much different then the afore mentioned Copernicus. Where as Copernicus presented his finding to
the mercy of the church, Galileo wrote his conclusions and left the Roman Catholic Church
interpret them as they chose. The very nature of his findings pitted him as an opponent of the
church.

telescope he had designed and created an even more accurate mold of the universe. He trumpeted

Definition And Categories Of Homelessness
Definition and Categories of Homelessness
The Early Years
The meaning of homelessness has changed many times in the past years, we have forgotten that
casual laborers, vagrants, and the wandering poor were not unseen in early years, whereby
homelessness is an uneasy situation in society. According to Shlay Rossie, (1992), homelessnessis
an individual without a home or a permanent place, but current perspectives indicate that
intermittent homelessness falls into the definition. At the beginning vagrancy focused on skid row
with the attention on single room hotels, boarding houses, and cheap places to eat, on the
community that attracted transients, though they were not homerless, whereby they had had a

According to Hubley et al. (2014), the quality of life for homeless is lower than that of the
general population because of his or her living conditions, such those who live on the streets with
no place for personal care. There are no difference in the quality of life of genders, but there are
more services available to mothers caring for children than there are for single men, whereby there
is a need for more male services.
Los Angeles County is the homeless capital of the USA, with at least 88,000 homeless in 2005
(Reese, Deverteuil, Thach, 2010). The reason for the high number of homeless is the lack of
income, a drop in non existent welfare support and not enough affordable housing, as a result has
people into homelessness. The rent in California is high with a studio apartment running an
average $843 per month, which is not within the affordable rent for a minimum wage earner nor a
recipient of Supplemental Security Income. According to Reese et al. (2010), a majority of the
homeless are in the older, diverse urban neighborhoods where homeless services have a habit of
gathering. As a result of low income living in one area, the degree of mental disabilities and
substance misuse are roughly twice as high among the homeless compared to the entire County.

Analysis Of Over The Garden Wall
Over the Garden Wall is a children s cartoon series with a rather dark subject: a visit to the
afterlife. The show focuses on two brothers, Wirt and Greg. Unaware of their true plight, Wirt
and Greg navigate their way through unfamiliar territory in search of a way home, and meet
other unusual characters along the way. The show resembles Dante s own trip to the afterlife in
many ways. Over the Garden Wall alludes to Dante s Commedia through its settings, the
characters, and the aspects that the two versions of the afterlife share, all of which implies that
the series is based loosely on Dante s travels in his Commedia. In the opening scene of the show,
Wirt and Greg are lost in a forest with no recollection of how they came to be there. This is very
similar to the first canto of Inferno, in which Dante is also lost in a dark wood . The brothers are
pursued by a monstrous dog when they first arrive, akin to how Dante is accosted by the three
beasts in Limbo shortly after appearing there. Later in the show, we come to find out the place
where Wirt and Greg have ended up is referred to as The Unknown . The Unknown is separated
into different regions, much like how the Commedia s realms have different areas, with various
trials to be overcome in each section. In the last episode of the show, it is apparent that The
Unknown is a purgatory like afterlife, and that the brothers journey to find their home has actually
been them searching for a way back the land of the living.

Essay sunwind case study
Sunwind A.B. A Case Study
Introduction
On November 14, 2000 Olav Larsson, Managing Director of Sunwind, eased back in his seat as
his A380 climbed away from Tokyo s Narita Airport to begin the 17 hour flight to Gothenburg,
Sweden. He was returning from a 10 day trip to Japan where he had visited factories of Nissan
and Mazda as well as a number of their parts suppliers. This visit had reinforced his conviction that
Sunwind should initiate a proposal to Volvo, its major customer, that Just In Time delivery of floor
lids1 be made directly onto its 700 series automobile assembly lines at Torslanda, near Gothenburg,
Kalmer, a port city on Sweden s east cost, and at Ghent in Belgium.
Lars, a graduate engineer, had previous managerial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Average weekly requirements in 2001 were expected to approach 1,400 units. Lars estimated
Sunwind s current single shift capacity at approximately 1,250 units/week. To achieve this, he had
hired an additional 20 people at the beginning of August and established three shift operations on a
numerically controlled milling machine used to shape plywood parts.
Effective capacity was actually less than 1,250 units/week due to equipment failures, e.g. the
gluing machine had proved particularly troublesome and had increased rejects. Recent causes of
the rejects included seeping through the carpeting that covered the plywood forms. Volvo had also
rejected a shipment of floor lids due to differences in the shade of carpeting covering the four
separate pieces which made up a floor lid.
Such difficulties could not have come a worse time, when Lars was already concerned by the
world wide trend of major manufacturers in the automobile industry to rely on fewer suppliers.
He knew that Toyota, which industry observers continually cited for its productivity gains, relied
on only 320 suppliers, while Volvo had over 600. Headlines such as Volvo will reduce number of
suppliers; pressure on sub contractors in Dagens Nyheter, one of Sweden s major daily
newspapers, did not help his peace of mind.
He was also aware that Just In Time deliveries had been implemented recently

Earthquakes In Southern California
There is no shortage of earthquakes in Southern California. On any given day this area sees
numerous earthquakes, though most are barely even felt. The concern here is what will happen
when another earthquake occurs in a large dense area such as Los Angeles County, California. One
question concerns earthquakepreparedness of residents in this region. Do residents know what to
do in order to prepare for an earthquake? Are residents prepared for a medium to large sized
earthquake? Another question is, how prepared are buildings when it comes to the shaking from a
medium to large earthquake? Will these buildings protect residents and employees, or do they pose
a severe threat when faced with another earthquake?
Earthquakes occur when the surface ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to map earthquake hazard zones correctly geologists found that not only should they be
mapping historic earthquake epicenters but also a detailed map of every single fault line. Not until
the deadly Long Beach earthquake of 1933 did politicians and engineers feel the need to start
earthquake proofing the structures around them (Mualchin 2011). With the passing of the Field Act
school buildings in particular were constructed with earthquake safety in mind. But the Field Act
only covered schools. It wasn t until the San Fernando earthquake of 1971 where major
infrastructure and hospitals were severely damaged that more policies were put in place to
earthquake proof these structures (Mualchin 2011). The schools which were structurally designed
to withstand earthquakes from the Field Act faired surprisingly well during this earthquake. The
new policies that followed the San Fernando earthquake required hospitals and infrastructure to be
designed to withstand an earthquake, also they required rupture hazard zones to be mapped so that
development here would be

  • 3. Single Mom The Sum Up: It Ain t Easy Being A Single Mom Apparently, among the myopic ultra conservative pundits of conventional wisdom, there is more than enough of the blaming, shaming and lumping of single mothers into to one maternal heap of failure. But that is blatantly unfair. It is undeniable that many women who find themselves single mothers living in a tough economic situation made poor choices about planning for motherhood. However, given that single mothers from a diversity of backgrounds are much more likely to be living with economic insecurity than single fathers, it can t all be due to low income women s lousy decision making or a lack of financial self restraint or a weak motivation to get a good education and job. Because if you take in the bigger picture, you will find that a majority of low income mothers, who are a family s lone breadwinner, are carrying the extra weight of low paying jobs and the high cost of childcare, and ... Kristi Williams, an associate professor of sociology at Ohio State University, published a study in the American Sociological Review, which showed that the negative health consequences for single moms can be long lasting, and they are unlikely to go away even if those women fare financially better later in life. Research has clearly shown the toll that long term stress takes on health and we know that single mothers have a great deal of stress in their lives, Williams said. Adding to that information, Caryn Rabin, writing in The New York Times about single mothers health risks, explains, Middle aged women who were single when they had their first child are in worse health than similar women who were married when first giving birth. This 4% decrease can be primarily attributed to the Republican Party s failure to pass a replacement to the Affordable Care Act. The company s stock price performance over the quarter justifies this assertion. Goldman s stockprice closed above its December 31, 2017 price for eight straight days to kick off 2017. Following the strong start to the new fiscal year, the stock stalled in anticipation of the company s 2016 results. However, the decline in price was temporary as the company announced strong fourth quarter results. Highlights included better than expected performance in respect to both revenue and earnings. Luther was a devoted man of God. When he saw the need for reformation within the Catholic Church, he took action. Luther took a stand with five solas: scripture alone, faith alone, Christ alone, grace alone, and for the glory of God alone. Sola Scriptura is Latin for scripture alone. This was the first sola that Luther followed in his life. Luther made fun of the people s dependence on their relics. The Impact Of The Plaza Accord The Plaza Accord or Plaza Agreement was the agreement, which signed in 1985 at Plaza Hotel in New York City, among the G 5 nations which included France, Germany, the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom agreed to operate exchange rates by depreciating US dollar relative to the Japanese yen and the German Deutsche mark. The objective of the Plaza Accordwas to correct trade imbalances between the U.S. and Germany and the U.S. and Japan. Also to help the U.S. improve its huge trade deficit and to stimulate its economy to climb out of the 1980 s long recession. The United States experienced 3% GDP growth during 1983 and 1984 with a current account deficit approaching approximately 3 3.5% of GDP, while European nations faced a negative GDP growth of 0.7% with huge trade surpluses. The same thing happened to Japan. Trade deficits in general need foreign financing. During the early to mid 80s, for the United States, Japan and West Germany were buying United States bonds, notes and bills from their surpluses to finance our current deficits at the expense of their own economies. Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon a Movie Directed by Ang Lee Beyond the boundary of East and West Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon, one of the most successful and popular Chinese language movie in the West directed by Ang Lee, was considered as an eastern film for the western audience and a western film for the east. I didn t see any tiger or dragon in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; then I get it they all crouched and hid. This joke provoked a wave of laughter during an award ceremony in the United States, but my response was a satiric sneer. This is because the phrase crouching tiger, hidden dragon in Chinese is an old idiom, which should rather be understood by its metaphorical meaning instead of interpreting it literally, as the joke teller did. The same joke created different reactions among audiences of different regions; similarly, the same film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Crouching Tiger) received diverse responses in the United States and China. Compare to its huge popularity in the west, this movie did not strike such success in Chinese community especially mainland China, where the story takes place. In many mainstream movie communities like Mtime and Douban in China, Crouching Tiger does not rank even top 30 in overall film ratings. How does it happen? I think the director and his filming style is a really important clue for this question. To devout Catholics, this is a sign of immorality and should therefore be fought by all people of good will. Influence from outside has caused scholars in the church to question such things as sexuality in its different forms. This has called the church to realize, that society has changed and that there is need for the church to change too. Another area where the Catholic Church has modified its activities to suit European notions is on the issue of penance. Traditionally, the practice was administered on a very personal basis. In the process of penitents, those seeking forgiveness, would kneel in a specially made box known as the confessional. Usually, this box consisted of screens that divided the priest and the penitent. These reactors cost more to operate and to build, but are more energy efficient (Galperin 46). The last main type of reactor is a breeder reactor. This is very different then other reactors because it produces more fissionable material then it consumes. A breeder reactor fuels with a combination of plutonium and uranium. The only reason I have a hard time with writing is because I lack knowledge in proper grammar and spelling. I have always been known for the worst speller. Classmates of mine from grade school had jokes about how my texts were always a brain challenge trying to figure out what I was spelling! Talk about embarrassing. I don t just struggle with grammar when writing, I get caught having bad grammar while talking as well. While I was on the dance team, the head coach was always correcting me. The big one I messed up the most was the use of them and those and so now I try to use them properly around everyone. Williams exaggerated how it is imperative that the church of today be fully acquainted with the nature of the Pentecostal reality and adopt a positive attitude toward its occurrence. Reference has been made to the opposition that often has developed against it. Doubtless, fault lies partly among those of Pentecostal experience who in many cases have misguidedly represented its significance (e.g., as a kind of superior Christianity or even the real thing ) and thereby brought about disharmony and division. But this is only a small part of the total picture, for often, regardless of the adequacy of the witness, antipathy has been aroused. This is quite understandable in light of the fact that the tradition of the church (as noted) and, even more, the long inherited structure of Christian faith and practice has had no adequate place for the Pentecostal experience. The Pentecostal reality thus appears as a threat; and for the sake of protecting what is already established, strong efforts are often made to repel an apparently foreign body. But now it is fervently to be hoped that, with more adequate understanding of what the Pentecostal reality means, and its signal importance for the full life of the church, a new, positive, and expectant attitude can ... • 37. How Does Glycolysis Affect Yeast Fermentation Abstract Sugars catabolize (break down) through the process of glycolysis. Glycolysis causes the sugar to undergo fermentation, which yields CO2. In this experiment, different sugar solutions were mixed with a yeast solution in order to see how fast and if they react to produce CO2. The yeast solution caused the sugar solutions to undergo glycolysis and produce CO2. Glucose syrup, White sugar, Artificial Sweetener all yielded CO2, yet Corn flour did not. Introduction The purpose behind this experiment is to identify a correlation between the production of CO2 when yeast is exposed to water and heat. Yeast being fungi requires nutrients (sugar/carbohydrates), water, heat and oxygen to grow and survive like most other living organism. As a bi product of its growth the fungi should produce CO2. Eventually, the implications of the new scientific findings began to affect the way people thought and behaved throughout Europe. Society began to question the authority of traditional knowledge about the universe. This in turn, allowed them to question traditional views of the state and social order. His methods of discovery helped model the direction of science over the next hundred years. Another important figure in the Scientific Revolution was Galileo Galilei. He was an Italian born professor of mathematics who had a great interest in the workings of the universe. Galileo served as a professor at the University of Padua, and it was during this time that he began to question the accuracy of the Churches representation of the world. Galileo s approach towards knowledge was much different then the afore mentioned Copernicus. Los Angeles County is the homeless capital of the USA, with at least 88,000 homeless in 2005 (Reese, Deverteuil, Thach, 2010). • 44. Analysis Of Over The Garden Wall Over the Garden Wall is a children s cartoon series with a rather dark subject: a visit to the afterlife. The show focuses on two brothers, Wirt and Greg. Unaware of their true plight, Wirt and Greg navigate their way through unfamiliar territory in search of a way home, and meet other unusual characters along the way. The show resembles Dante s own trip to the afterlife in many ways. Over the Garden Wall alludes to Dante s Commedia through its settings, the characters, and the aspects that the two versions of the afterlife share, all of which implies that the series is based loosely on Dante s travels in his Commedia. In the opening scene of the show, Wirt and Greg are lost in a forest with no recollection of how they came to be there. This is very similar to the first canto of Inferno, in which Dante is also lost in a dark wood . The brothers are pursued by a monstrous dog when they first arrive, akin to how Dante is accosted by the three beasts in Limbo shortly after appearing there. Later in the show, we come to find out the place where Wirt and Greg have ended up is referred to as The Unknown . The Unknown is separated into different regions, much like how the Commedia s realms have different areas, with various trials to be overcome in each section. Effective capacity was actually less than 1,250 units/week due to equipment failures, e.g. the gluing machine had proved particularly troublesome and had increased rejects. Recent causes of the rejects included seeping through the carpeting that covered the plywood forms. Volvo had also rejected a shipment of floor lids due to differences in the shade of carpeting covering the four separate pieces which made up a floor lid. Such difficulties could not have come a worse time, when Lars was already concerned by the world wide trend of major manufacturers in the automobile industry to rely on fewer suppliers.
