The Model And Stages Of Change Model
The Transtheoretical Model/Stages of Change
Leticia R. Leaks
Nebraska Methodist College
Abstract
This is a review of the Transtheoretical Model/Stages of Change Model developed by J. O.
Prochaska and C.C. DiClemente to assess an individual s readiness to change a behavior. In this
paper, we will discuss the history of the theory and its constructs. We will also examine a diabetes
study and the impact of TTM in conjunction with Social Cognitive and the Theory of Reasoned
Action as applied urban African Americans with Type 2 Diabetes. In the application of TTM, what
does success look like and how is failure measured?

But they re not particularly conscious of that, so it s not a focused, rational decision making process
(Sholl, 2011). If the individual has heard from their support system that they need to lose weight,
quit smoking or drinking, and instead of taking the advice, they ignore them, shut down or change
the subject, then they are in the stage of precontemplation. Unlike the precontemplation stage, an
individual in the contemplation stage actually thinks about taking action within six months. They
understand the pros and the cons of changing the behavior and are open to receiving information
and advice. Contemplators are often characterized as behavioral procrastinators who can get
stuck here for long periods of time. The individual in the preparation stage is ready to make a
change within the next 30 days. This individual has developed a plan and is ready for an action
oriented program such as smoking cessation or weight loss. Action is the next stage in the TTM
model. This is the stage where the individual has actually made modifications; gotten off the couch
and exercising. The action is observable and measurable. This stage is where all those small steps,
small choices, and mini sacrifices make a huge difference, notes Larsen (Larsen, 2007). Individuals
in this stage benefit from emotional and physical support, and from having people around them
recognize their progress and help keep them accountable. When an individual reaches the

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
Haunted by the her own memories, Lily Owens finds comfort in the humming of the bees. In the
novel, The Secret Life of Bees, Sue Monk Kidd writes about the life of young girl whose
spontaneous decisions lead her to her mother s past. Lily s life has revolved around the lack of a
mother. Her father, T. Ray, is a harsh and unloving peach farmer who punishes Lily unreasonably
and does not fulfil his father like position. Lily s adventure begins after catching a few bees in a
jar. She empathizes with them as they are stuck and alone, something she understands all too
well. On the day of her birthday, Lily and her negro nanny, Rosaleen, go out into town to register
for voting. Rosaleen and Lily are on their way when a group of white men begin to harass
Rosaleen and degrade her for being a negro. Rosaleen pours her spit jug on the shoes of the man
and is given no mercy when she is beaten. With Rosaleen ending up in jail, Lily returns to the
comfort of the bees once again. As she opens the jar and watches the bees escape, Lily follows
suit and flees from home. She breaks Rosaleen out of the hospital and they hitchhike their way to
Tiburon, South Carolina. Lily believes that her mother, Deborah, had once visited Tiburon and
where she had obtained a picture of a Black Madonna. Lily has spent her whole life looking for
new information and connections between herself and her mother. With luck and fate on her side,
Lily finds the home of the Boatwright sisters, the creators of the Black

Downloading Music Should Be Made Legal Essay example
Downloading All Music Should Be Made Legal
In 1999, an 18 year old college dropout named Shawn Fanning revolutionized the music industry
with the program he invented called Napster. Napster was an internet program that made it possible
for users to share music files for free. His product gained instant interest across America which
brought an opposite response from the Music industry. In 2001, as expected, Napster was sued for
copyright infringement by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and shut down
at the peak of its success. The media industry wanted the technology halted because it was terrified
of how it would affect the economy. Nonetheless, new programs are rising to take Napster s place
and history is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking at the main headlines for downloading that originate from the RIAA, it can be noticed
that the word illegal is replaced by unauthorized . This is because the courts state that the word
illegal is considered to be a false statement when making reference to downloading music. When the
topic is brought to discussion, two typical responses are shouted from the opposing sides.
Supporters of downloading and lobbyists alike both have very opinionated views on the
situation. Some people are arguing that stealing is stealing and wrong no matter what. But is
the downloading of music considered stealing per se? Providing a copyrighted source of
material without charge may sound ludicrous, but when comparing the downloading of music to
radio broadcasting, very few changes are present. Radio broadcasting is allowing listeners to
sample copyrighted material free of charge and is known as a great are kept up to date with the
latest media releases. So if free listening is the problem here, then the radio is much more a
factor to be feared. Music downloading functions in the same motion, but with more benefits to
the artist. Without the free listening opportunity presented by downloading, many new bands
would never have the chance to extend their music on a large scale, from a lack of funds. As
quoted from a survey of Vintage Cask, 85% of profit does not come from the selling of music CD
s believe it or not, but from the selling of merchandise like band shirts and

Review Of Odd Arne Westad s The Global Cold War
My enemy s enemy is my friend, quotes author and historian Odd Arne Westad throughout the
course of his book, The Global Cold War. Westad uses this quote to reference and even explain
how Third World countries in the Cold War would play off the two superpowers and influence the
world around them. The goal of the author, as well as the major thesis of The Global Cold War, is to
place a greater amount of emphasis on Third World countries during the Cold War era. By using a
voluminous number of examples of these countries as well as quotations from leaders, Westad
successfully argues that the most important events and decisions by the two superpowers in the
Cold War were connected and linked to developments, as well as failures, in the Third World.

The first section of Westad s book comprises the first three chapters where the author takes an
individual look at the development of the United States, the Soviet Union, and the Third World. The
second section of Westad s book, which are comprised of chapters four and five, focuses on
anticolonial resistance that led the creation and growth of interventionism. The third section,
chapters six through eight, is by far the strongest section of the book. This section discusses the
struggle of Third World countries against foreign intervention. Afghanistan is a prime example that
shines in this section because the author demonstrates how the role of the two superpowers in the
country exacerbated the violence not only in the country, but around the world. This demonstrates
how vital it is to examine Third World countries during the Cold War. The final two chapters, the
fourth and last section, detail the end of the Cold War: from the Reagan era to the fall of the Soviet

Visit To Temecula, California
I chose Temecula, California because I have always dreamed to visit Temecula. Temecula,
California, a Large city in the southwestern region of the state, is known for skating, wineries, and
shopping. Temecula also has a lot of historical sites to visit. This would be an educational and fun
trip.
There is many historical sites in Temecula, Californiafor instance Old Town Temecula, Peltzer
farm, Temecula berry company, and Old Town Temecula jail you know the little things that
Temecula is known for. These sites are all small individual historic structures, but they re what
makes up Temecula.
Temecula is a large city of 106,780 people. That is a lot bigger than what I am use to,
Ste.Genevieve, Missouri there is only 4,405 people. That is not a lot compared to Temecula
California. This city has been around since 1859.
In Temecula there is many tours you can take. Especially tours of wineries. They have other tours

The two that are not an hour or two away they are San Clemente State Beach and Beacon s
beach. Personally I would drive to long beach even though it is about an hour and a half away. I d
go for the experience to see something you wouldn t get to see every time you went to California.
My overall impression of Temecula, California is that it is a great family place. Also I figured out
that there was more to do than to just go to the skatepark and to go shopping and get a new
skateboard. I notice that there is so much more than I even thought of. Going to Temecula,
California would not only be an amazing vacation, but it is an opportunity to try new things and to
learn new things as well. Old Town Temecula is going to blow your mind.
So in conclusion I would give temecula a 4 out of 5 star rating. This is more of a family city.
Temecula will be my future destination. Hopefully your families could enjoy this at some

Stinguard s Argumentative Essay
After a considerable delay, Stinguard coyly equivocated, Unfortunately, in September, I was
busy applying for a research grant. But, I planned to get it last week after my wife and children
returned from their vacation in Bali. After hearing his weasel words, Godafrid fired back, Why
did you delay having the viral vector that bore your name? Why did you force this treatment on
others, like those in Africa, when you were unwilling to have it yourself? In other words, did you
avoid it purposely knowing of its dangers? As Stinguard had become tight lipped all of a sudden,
Godafrid asked each of the accused in turn the same question. Similarly, their bromidic reply was

image with pity. Her tremendous longanimity impressed him. He wondered how anyone could
survive the impossible situation of working with Stinguard for even a day, let alone twenty years
like she had done. Perhaps going to Gnaritus saved her. Despite knowing he needed to conclude the
case, he longed to go to Gnaritus immediately as well just to be as far away as possible from the
destructive madness engulfing Earth. Rather than trying to cross examine the accused for they had
already declared their intentions, he asked Judge Harbottle if he could begin his closing arguments.

The Nile River was a great contributing factor in the development of early Egypt. It is the country s
longest running river, and runs right through Egypt.
The location of the river added convenience, which aided agricultural abilities helping to boost
civilization. Farmers used the water for irrigation since most of Egypt is dry. During the long
rainy season, the Nile would flood. When the flood occurred it would drop deposits of silt, a rich
soil ideal for growing crops. The farmers would then spend long, laborious hours cultivating and
preparing the land for planting. They also spent time making dikes and ditches to retain the water

Two significant environmental or physical geographic factors that contributed to the development
or expansion of the United States were the California gold rush and the dust bowl.
People came to California with gold fever from all across the country and even Mexico. Word
spread quickly and in just a matter of months, word had spread to Hawaii, Oregon, and even
Central America. Before the end of the year 1848, news of the riches had gold seekers coming
from the eastern states, as well as Great Britain.
Before the discovery of gold in the Coloma Valley was a barely populated area. However, after the
discovery, Coloma became a thriving community. It was named the county seat and served a
population of several thousand. ( History of the, 2004)
Due largely in part to the gold rush, in 1850, a law was passed by the United States Congress
making California the first state in the far west.
The rush can also be thanked for the popularity of the San Francisco port. San Francisco was

Analysis Of The Green Mile
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of the Literary and Media Arts Festival. In today s session,
Novel to Film Adaptations Empowering the Marginalised Perspective, Frank Darabont s corrupt
film adaptation of, The Green Mile, will be exposed as a blatant juxtaposition of Paul Edgecombe s
journal on which it is based. Audiences are invited to follow the disturbing experiences and
happenings upon the green mile in 1932 at the Cold Mountain Penitentiary death row. The film
constructs Percy Wetmore as cruel, malevolent and aggressive, however, this is contrasted by the
reality presented in the journal, through which he portrays characteristics of dedication,
determination and intuition. Three scenes evident within both written evidence and film will be
pinpointed in today s presentation explaining why my client, Percy Wetmore has been unjustly
represented. Firstly, the Squashing of Mr. Jingles, secondly Delacroix s Execution, and thirdly, John
Coffey s Arrival. It is apparent through the examination of the character construction of Percy
Wetmore within the film, that the representation dehumanizes, exploits and manipulates the actions
and intentions of Percy in a manner that is discriminatory. The Squashing of Mr Jingles is a scene
in the film which cleverly appeals to the emotions of audiences, and is particularly significant as it
further establishes the demonization of Percy. In this particular scene a low camera angle,
confronting sound effects and elusive dialogue are

Economic Differences For The North
To begin with, the Economic Differences for the North was based on manufacturing. Tons of
immigrants from Europe started working in factories and producing goods used by people in the
north. Many factories started producing textiles which is clothes with the cotton grown in the
South. The North favored a loose interpretation of the United StatesConstitution, and they wanted
to grant the federal government increased powers. After the American Revolution, slavery began to
decrease in the North, and it was becoming way more popular in the South.Seven of the most
Northern states abolished slavery.

The unprecedented violence of battles such as Shiloh, Antietam, Stones River, and Gettysburg
shocked citizens and international observers alike. Nearly as many men died in captivity during
the Civil War as were killed in the whole of the Vietnam War. Hundreds of thousands died of
disease. Roughly 2% of the population, 620,000 men lost their lives in the line of duty. Taken as a
percentage of today s population, the toll would have risen as high as 6 million souls. South
Most casualties and deaths in the Civil War were the result of non combat related disease. For
every three soldiers killed in battle, five more died of disease. The primitive nature of Civil War
medicine, both in its intellectual underpinnings and in its practice in the armies, meant that many
wounds and illnesses were unnecessarily fatal.
Our modern conception of casualties includes those who have been psychologically damaged by
warfare. This distinction did not exist during the Civil War. Soldiers suffering from what we would
now recognize as post traumatic stress disorder were uncatalogued and uncared for.

Dr. Caligare
People often take for granted the importance of the first impression, the few pivotal seconds
where the eye decides what someone is like before they ve spoken a single word. In The Cabinet
of Dr. Caligari, Weine uses costume design and German expressionist makeup to visually assign
roles of sanity and insanity to the characters that are immediately identifiable. In doing so, Weine
insinuates the people are all too willing to accept these visual cues without question, when in
reality the line between the sane and insane may not be so clear cut. In order to achieve this effect,
Weine first establishes a sense of normalcy by appealing to society s picture of the common man.
At the beginning of the film, the audience is not privy to any madness,... Show more content on

However, a closer look at the characters appearance following the big twist challenges this
simplicity. The first clue that something is off is the nature of the people that inhabit the asylum,
especially Cesare. A close up on Cesare reveals that his appearance has been skewed by Francis
madness. His messy hair has been combed into place, reminiscent of Alan s normal locks. Most
notable, the dark circles under his eyes have disappeared, implying that Cesare is not, and was
never, a somnambulist. Thus, the truth behind Francis story begins to crumble. The discovery of
Francis insanity is realized by his courtyard companion, whose visible shock and horror is
paralleled in the audience. In this moment, it is revealed that everything has been told from the
perspective of a madman, destroying the credibility of the entire story. The ambiguity increases as
Queen Jane receives another close up: her makeup looks the same softened, even. Jane s
appearance barely changed, and the fact that her makeup was even darker in the flashback where
she was normal blurs the line between Francis delusions and reality. Afterwards, Caligari comes
down in a way similar to the beginning, emerging out of the shadows. However, the makeup, hair,
and costuming has gone, revealing a completely normal looking person. Such a drastic

Did you know that there were over 2,000 gods and goddesses in Ancient Egypt? Some gods had

The Ancient Egyptian were polytheistic most of the time, which means that they believed in
multiple gods. When Akhenaten was pharaoh, the Egyptians were monotheistic, meaning they
worshiped only one god. He ended the worship of other gods and claimed that Aten, the lord of all

Cosmetic Surgery In Australia Essay
Cosmetic Travelling
Cosmetic travelling is a massive risk on people from all around the world. Many people spend over
thousands and thousands of dollars on cosmetic surgery even though there is a high chance of the
clinic and the surgeon being unprofessional. These unprofessional surgeons have caused many
deaths over these last years. Some deaths are caused from infections, reactions or from the product
used by the surgeons.
Firstly, people are spending so much money on cosmetic surgery. The surgery cost up to $7,000 to
$10,000 depending on the clinic and the type of surgery. Plus the accommodation, plane tickets,
food, etc. A recent report showed that Australians spend up to $300 million a year on cosmetic
surgery. There is a major difference between the cost of surgery in Australia and Thailand. For
example breast implants average around $10,000 in Australia and $4,000 in Thailand. For another
example a full abdominoplasty, tummy tuck and liposuction an Australian clinic was going to cost
around $30,000 dollars and Thailand was around $8,000. This shows that Australia is much more

The Worst of Both Worlds, and the Best of Neither
Helga Crane s racial mixedness as a mulatto in Nella Larsen s novel Quicksand divides her socially,
emotionally, and geographically, and suspends her in a perpetual in between status. Her uncanny
role results from a combination of qualities that simultaneously identify her with, and distance her
from, each side of her ancestry. Helga s identity becomes taboo because it leads her diverging in two
contrary directions (Freud 24) that cannot exist simultaneously.
Freud s article on Taboo and Emotional Ambivalencefollows these two separate directions that

This contagion perpetuates the characteristic mysterious and unknown qualities of taboo because
the people who are submitting to them have no idea way, but readily adhere to them, as though they
were a matter of course (28). The conflicting connotations of taboo are spread through these
prohibitions to the people who violate them and then they continue beyond them to people who
have not violated a taboo, but are still considered to be taboo themselves.
Helga feels the effects of her taboo social status early on when she is alienated because of the
absence of her family. This absence becomes critical to Helga s acceptance by James Vayle s
family when they are discussing their possible marriage plans.
They had never liked the engagement, had never liked Helga Crane. Her own lack of family
disconcerted them. No family. That was the crux of the whole matter. For Helga it accounted for
everything, her failure here in Naxos, her former loneliness in Nashville. It even accounted for her
engagement to James. (Larsen 8)
The Vayle family is disturbed by the nonexistence of Helga s family because without a family to
identify her with, Helga by herself becomes a mysterious figure of non identity. They associate her
with a sense of unholy dread because of her potential to spread her contaminating influence into
their family, and more importantly, upon their family name.

J. Edgar Hoover Job Analysis
When looking at the career of J. Edgar Hoover s, we see a person that was dictated by his work

Implicit Bias Analysis
Implicit Biases in Reader Response
Reading Jane Austen has never appealed to me. The combination of dated prose, a general
aversion to plots I deemed to be too romantic , and my viewing of the film adaptations were
enough to keep me away from her novels. When I was asked to read Persuasion for a class, I was
hesitant and unwilling to fully engage with the material. This prevented me from enjoying the
book fully. I didn t quite know what was holding me back from enjoying the book, but I knew that
it was something more than my explicit biases against Austen. After a little reflection, I realized
that my implicit biases were shaping my reading of Austen. My implicit bias against a novel and
author that I perceived as overly feminine was coloring how I was interacting with and what
messages I was taking from Persuasion (Austen).
Implicit biases are the unconscious attitudes that shape our thoughts, actions, and beliefs (Banaji
and Greenwald 46; Staats et al. 10; Schneider 169).Their impact is important to study because
implicit biases shape our responses to situations. Reader response theory examines how a reader
responds to a given text. Theorists such as Jauss and Eco include concepts that implicit bias can and
should be built into. Jauss horizons examine how our experiences, expectations, culture, and place
in time shape how we react and create meaning. Though implicit bias is not noted in Jauss
formulation of the horizon, it should be considered as it shapes our

Child Observation On Human Development
Introduction
For this observation project we were supposed to watch two different groups of people whose
ages range from two to twenty. So we could apply our knowledge of human growth and
development to test the effectiveness of current theories and research on development. For my
observations I watched two different groups, group A were ages three to four and group B were
ages eighteen to twenty. Group A, I observed on a warm, bright sunny Monday afternoon. I
watched the children as they played on the playground behind the Lions Club Child Study Center
on campus. On this day, I watched a group of 4 children, which included three girls and one boy as
they played. One of the little girls in the group had long blonde hair and was wearing a pink ... Show

All the females in the group appeared to have strong memory skills. The children were able to
follow complex direction. The only male in the group seemed to struggle with memory. After, a
while of play the male became more interested in a bug in the sand. This behavior reinforces
Flavell, when he said that children s attention is more like a flash of light that focus on what it
wants (Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 230). After, examining the bug for a while he began to play as
superman. Playing pretend helps children develop better social skills, self control, and they
understand the perspective of others (Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 242). While observing group B
they performed the task of sitting around, talking, and laughing very well. The females in the
groups appeared to have strong memory skills. They could follow complex directions. On the
other hand, the males in the group seemed to have a problem with memory skills. While watching
Group B, the male with the pink T shirt started doing push up and shortly after the male with the
black shirt started to do them too. The two males within the group seems to be struggling with
imaginary audience. Imaginary Audience is the feeling that everyone is watching (Woolfolk Perry,
2015, p. 513). This was probably caused by the excusive use of the internet. In a study done by
Moreno, it was found that adolescents of color used the internet

Conclusions:
1. With the new costing system in place, that allows the company identifying the activities that
generate the most relevant costs, it will be possible to use a pricing system that takes into account
the changes in demands of the clients.
2. A new pricing model was suggested for 2006 based on the new costing system. If this pricing
model was used in 2005 the net income would have been 7% higher.
3. The new system allows charging additional services required by the clients, generating more
revenue.
4. Knowing which are the cost drivers , it will be possible to control costs more effectively
(reducing fixed costs and increasing net margin)
5. Market analysis with direct competitor in the region suggests that studio prices are at least 21%
lower and one bedroom suite prices are at least 40% lower than the competition in the new pricing
model. Comparison with the general market suggests similar findings.

The Role Of Voodoo In Haiti
Haiti s background in religion stems from tribal rituals in voodoo and forced roman Catholicism
from the slave trade. When the different tribes from Africa were brought to Haiti as slaves, the
tribes stronger religious believes combined and voodoo was practiced. This voodoo played a
huge role in their rebellion as they prayed and made sacrifices to their Gods for strength. Voodoo
was a key part of Haitian life from the beginning of the formation of the country, and still plays a
huge role today as voodoo is the number on practiced religion in Haiti. Voodoo is a religion of
violence is wickedness that is destroying the hearts of the people, corrupting the nation. Voodoo is

The definition of voodoo according to Mariam Webster is, a black religious cult practiced in the
Caribbean and the southern US, combining elements of Roman Catholic ritual with traditional
African magical and religious rites, and characterized by sorcery and spirit possession.
(Webster) This practice of dark magic and possession impacts their morality corrupting its
nature. Much of Haiti s violence is a result of these practices. The moral standard for the people
of Haiti is not that of Gods standard. The Bible is very clear and direct on the matter of dark
magic in Revelation 21:8, it says, But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the
sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars they will be
consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death . (NIV) The punishment is
harsh for the wicked but there is hope for the lost found in Acts 26:18, to open their eyes and
turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive
forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me. There is hope for
those in Haiti who have fallen into the wickedness and evil practices of voodoo, but the number of
those people are many. Christians missionaries in Haiti have a short history not having been in the
country for very long. Much of the original Christian influence into the country originated in Cuba
from missionary works that were already established there. Haitians fled to Cuba during the slavery

Two Views of Slavery
Two Views of Slavery During the time prior to the twentieth century our world accepted slavery
as a normal part of life. Aphra Behn and Phillis Wheatley, both female authors born about 100
years apart, had their own views of slavery and wrote poems and stories about the subject. These
women were physically different, Aphra was a Caucasian, and Phillis was an African American,
and their lives were rather different as well. Aphra was a spy and playwright, who lived the
middle class life and Phillis, was a slave who was taken from her homeland, brought to America,
sold into slavery, then later freed. I believe that both writers views were difficult to figure out,
especially by just reading their works.

(Behn 180)
Although her description makes Oroonoko seem rather stunning, it is a rather disrespectful
description to the native Negro people. Her description makes it sound like slaves are not equal
and due to fact that Oroonoko was a Prince, they did not put him in the same category as the
other slaves and treated him with decency and respect, almost as if it was a double standard. Her
story gets even more confusing when Oroonoko is kidnapped and sold into slavery himself by
the same person that once helped Oroonoko traffic slaves. After he was captured and enslaved,
he is treated humanely by his captor, which seems rather odd since most other slaves were
treated very poorly. He is renamed Caesar (slaves were renamed at that time), I assume for his
strength and nobility. Once at the slave camp, he is received more like a governor than a slave
(Behn 209). He was even given land away from the other slaves, as if to separate him and treat
him more like a king. He then finds his love, Imoinda living in a cottage with a cute little dog,
which paints a very pretty picture, almost like a fairy tale, which again, is in sharp contrast of
most depictions of slave quarters during this time. Caesar has elaborate feasts prepared in his
honor, and it seems that there is, for lack of a better word, a party atmosphere in the camp. He
was also given more freedoms than the slaves he must live with; he is even allowed to accompany
the narrator of the story on a trip

Appeals to Women
Most advertisers use different appeals to create stereotypes about their audiences because people
often buy magazines which fit the stereotypes they make about themselves. For example, people
who always read Newsweek are mostly people who are at work, who are economically stable, and
who are interested in the world situation. On the other hand, the audiences of Shape are mostly
young women who are interested in reducing their weights or shaping up. In Jib Fowles essay,
Advertising s Fifteen Basic Appeals, he discusses the fifteen emotional appeals that are often seen in
many advertisements. To corroborate his postulations of advertisement, I focused on a specific

Also, the copies of Splendor fetch audiences attention by appealing to their longing for romance
and affections. The ad of True Love also appeals to sexuality by showing a woman with a drowsy
expression in a lying down position. The second appeal I found is the need for autonomy, the
need to credit the self. The three ads about women s suits, glassware, and make up are great
examples. An ad of women s suit has five women in five different gray suits who look
competent. The catch phrase says, Let em know who you are. The other ad of glassware shows
a beautiful white woman in a white blouse with glasses. She has her blond hair put up, and she is
reading a paper. The copy on the upper left corner reads, Endless Possibilities. The third ad of
Maybelline s foundation cake also has a white woman wearing white blouse with her hair up. All
of these three ads have women who look aspired, intellectual, and independent. These ads strike
women s strong need to become the way they want, and to endorse themselves. These appeals are
effective in persuading women to buy the products by giving women illusions that they will look
sexy or independent just like the women in the ads if they buy the products.
By finding the appeals advertisers use, one can tell how the advertisers view the

The Dunning-Kruger Effect
Unsuccessful employees are products of unsuccessful employers (Draft 2)
As a child, I believed I would pirouette my way to become the top ballerina at the American
Ballet Theatre, but I was unaware of my title as the worst dancer in the studio. My pride, and my
dream, was soon destroyed as I watched myself fumbling across the stage on tape. I was thus
under the cognitive bias of the Dunning Kruger Effect. This effect also exists in other
environments besides in a children s dance class, such as work environment relationships. In Mark
Murphy s article, The Dunning Kruger Shows Why Some People Think They re Great Even When
Their Work is Terrible, it explains that incompetent workers tend to overestimate their work abilities

In other words, they overestimate their work abilities. Most employers tend to blame incompetence
to the workers inability to take constructive criticism. To illustrate this belief, in a study of over
10,000 workers, only 39% could accept constructive criticism and learn to adjust their work
performance (Murphy, 2017). The low percentage of workers accepting criticism leds to the
assumption that their work confidence stems from their inability to accept that their work needs to
improve. On the contrary, there are workers who can accept criticism, but continue to underperform
since they assume their work is acceptable enough to continue. Managers have encouraged this
assumption, caused by the Dunning Kruger Effect, by not informing their employees of their poor
work performance. These unskilled workers have worked without much correction to the point that
they automatically assume they are good enough that they don t need to be corrected. To better
explain, it would be like a child continuing to misbehave as a custom because they were not taught
the proper way to act. In other words, without correct, an act will continue to repeat

The Art of Benin Essay
Why is the ownership of Benin Art so controversial?
The ownership of Benin Art could have been so controversial for a number of reasons. Most
notably I would say, is due to the Anthropologists seeing it as a cultural insight into the history of
Benin however when people were introduced to start looking at the artefacts from also a more
artistic approach, this, for the anthropologists was taking the cultural effect away from it. Some
people may have felt hostile to how these artefacts were obtained from Benin to start with. We are
informed that they were forcibly removed from their origin by the Westerners and therefore, the
natives, especially, felt that this was and is where they belonged and not in a European Gallery.
Some see it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main issue lies in the fact that these are key artefacts for Benin and hold a huge part of the
culture and history, which for obvious reasons, make these Sculptures more than just an art piece
for outsider people to look at. These all hold meaning to the people of Benin and Africa, yet they
have been taken away.
Everybody sees art from a different perspective; it will signify something to one person that won t
necessarily be the same as the next person who observes it. However, the problem here is that to
the Africans, these artefacts have more or less the same meaning and explanation to them all,
symbolising the same things, and cultural events, changes, a description of their history almost.
Which therefore really makes you feel where they belong is back in Africa, their true home with
representing their true meaning. On the other hand, the debate lies in those who believe the
artefacts can be represented in Western countries. Note they do not at any point say they are in the
right place by being in the Western side but they do believe that their presence in national galleries
throughout much of Europe is and will only be a positive thing for the Africans and the Europeans
This view is highlighted by the situation of which we find ourselves in today, for example, very
prejudice, biased and unfounded opinions cause much conflict between races, cultures religions and
countries and this is

Application And Results Of Computers
Applications and Results
Computers uses collision detection to detect whether a shape is within the boundaries of another
shape. If the shape is within the boundaries of the other shape, a collision detection occurs. The
reason behind collision detection is to demonstrate the laws of Physics. For instance, since any
objects cannot phase each other, the computer must demonstrate that two objects must be separate
from each other and not within one another.

Applying Circle Collision Detection
The following JavaScript code in figure 8 applies the Circle Collision algorithm and checks if the
two circles are intersecting [4]. If there is an intersection that is present, the green circle will change
colors.
Figure 8. The following is a JavaScript code that detects collisions between two circles.
In figure 8, the codes var circle1 and var circle2 defines the elements of the circle and what color
it represents before and after the collision. First, the variable dx and dy calculates the x axis and
the y axis of the two circles plus its corresponding radius. Next, the variable distance uses the
distance formula to get the distance between the two circle. Afterwards, it uses a conditional
statement to check for a collision if the distance is less than the combined radius of the two
circles. Thus, the circle is green in figure 8 as there is a collision. Figure 9 demonstrates a result if
there is no collision between the

Analysis Of Willy Loman In Arthur Miller s Death Of A...
In the tragic play, Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, Miller shows the dark side of those
living in America who strive for success. The play follows a 63 year old struggling salesman
living in the late 1940 s by the name of Willy Loman. Willy aspires to be wealthy and known by
living out the American Dream so he could support himself and his family. However, Willy, being
the tragic hero, ultimately fails in completing any of his goals. The suffering brought upon by
Willy Loman and his obsession with the American Dream contributes to the tragic vision of the
play as a whole because Willy was destined to fail at the get go, his vision of the American Dream
conceals reality, and Willy s beliefs that he holds dear are false. In Death of a Salesmanby Arthur
Miller, the protagonist and tragic hero, Willy, was destined to be unsuccessful at the get go. In
the play, it is revealed that Willy is skilled with his hands. However, Willy remains a salesman,
and never pursues a more hands on job. In the requiem, after Linda explains that Willy was
wonderful with his hands, Biff claims, He had the wrong dreams. All, all wrong, (Miller 138).
Biff means that Willy was going to inevitably fail as a salesman because Willy sought prosperity
with a job that didn t match his specialty. This statement also hints that if Willy had a hands on job,
maybe he could have been successful in life. Also, Willy s stubbornness supports the fact that Willy
was bound to fail. Whenever an opportunity

1.In HTTP there are POST requests and GET requests, explain the difference(s) and why one is
slightly more secure than the other. Solution: 1.1 Difference (1) GET is typically used to
retrieve data from server that doesn t change anything on the server. POST is used to send data
to server that somehow causes a change in the state of server, such as inserting data in a

My Experience At The United States Congress
Guide to Comp I
John Beckley, the first librarian of the United States Congress, once said, Most people don t plan
to fail; they fail to plan. I have found this to be true in many areas of life, including my college
classes. Having almost completed my first semester of Composition I, I have realized that college
presents a new arena of life, and therefore demands thoughtful planning, planning made necessary
by new found freedom. Freedom is a relative term in college; it is experienced in and out of the
classroom, in both creativity and time management. With new found freedoms that college brings,
comes heightened responsibility to prioritize and plan for classroom success. I will share
specifically about my experience in Composition I.
Since success begins with planning, I ll start there. In my previous English classes, teachers
encouraged my ability to create thoughtful essays, and focused more on the elements of voice and
less on the structure of writing. This encouragement allowed my perception of my writing ability
to be inflated as I entered college. Perhaps you too see yourself as a good writer. Don t let this
perception keep you from embracing the opportunity to increase your writing ability. The fallacy
of my perception that I had already arrived as a writer was brought home when I received a fifty

Wage Discrimination Among Actors And Actresses
Since before women earned the right to vote, there has always been a demand for men and
women to work as an actor in the film industry. Their ability to captivate, move, and inspire earned
them recognition as movie stars. This rich history of stars, ranging from Charlie Chaplin and
Buster Keaton to Mary Pickford and Julia Roberts has seemingly been genderneutral. However, the
question of wage discrimination among actors and actresses is often not a point of discussion.
Perhaps this is because the public knows how well movie starts are paid, which begets the question,
are actors and actress rewarded differently?
When skimming the literate, the first point of interest is Forbes Magazine s list of the top paid
actors and actresses of that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, there seems to be a huge discrepancy between how actors and actresses fair at the
box office. This is reinforced when looking at the average box office figures. Ten actors have
averaged figures over $100 million while only two actresses managed to reach that milestone. If
an actors and actresses are paid based upon their box office power, it would seem that actors are
better at selling movie tickets relative to actresses. However, these figures might be a result of the
types of roles offered to men and women.
In order to examine gender discriminatory pay practices in Hollywood, there needs to be a
comparison between men and women performing the same exact job. In cinema, it could be the
case that actors and actresses are simply not working in exactly the same industry. Since they are
not playing the same character, and the fact that film offers different genres by which actors and
actresses are defined within, the pay difference may be due to the variation between roles. An
action star generally gets paid more relative to a melodramatic role, and throughout the history of
Hollywood, men usually occupy the role of big action star. Men like John Wayne, Tom Cruise,
Cary Grant, Humphry Bogart, James Cagney, and Arnold Schwarzenegger receive salary benefits
because they are generational icons, starring in big budget, high grossing films. There are certainly
examples of female action stars, like Sigourney Weaver

Tinea Skin Infection Paper
In typical dermatophytic hair infections, three major fungal invasion patterns can be identified,
based on the arthroconidia and hyphal arrangement (Gupta Tu, 2006). One such pattern is called an
ectothrix and during this arthroconidia arrangement is outside of the hair. During the endothrix
pattern the arthroconidia arrangement is inside of the hair strand, making it more fragile. The last
pattern is termed as favic where both hyphal and arthroconidia involvement with the hair strands
and hair follicles can be seen. The arthroconidia associated with these hair infections plays a vital
role in dissemination of these infections (Murray, Rosenthal Michael, 2013). When the clinical
diseases caused by these dermatophytes are considered, the typical symptoms of Ringworm
infections play a major role in the initial diagnosis of these infections. Even though the type of
symptoms appear may differ with the location of the infection within the body, most of these
Ringworm infections share some common symptoms (Hay, 2006). The most common and typical

A Journey Through Auschwitz Concentration Camp in If This...
If This Is a Man by Primo Levi is a story about his personal experience of the journey through
Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Right from the very first trip to the unknown destination, to the
point of near death, Primo s life was a constant battle between life and death. Throughout the book,
Primo portrays his walk through living hell in a way that is both powerful and painful.
The cover of the book displays a black and white picture of three bald men, one of which is Primo,
all in the striped clothes that bore the title of prisoner. The black and white could represent their
lives in the sense that its either death or mere survival, never anything grey, never anything good.
Their faces are blank, as they would be throughout their entire time in Auschwitz. Scarcely enduring
experiments, starvation, maltreatment and neglect, what other emotion but surrender would be
painted across their face? The only colour used is a dull mustard colour, which I believe is quite
effective in that it poses various ideas for the reader, including those such as the colour representing
either the Jews, Nazi German s, or the horrific ideas which they were forced to think. The fonts of
the title and the name of the author also hold a lot of purpose. The font used for the title shows a
lot of resemblance to the print of the tattoos that were placed on the prisoners that were registered
into the concentration camps. It s also noticeable that the print is washed out, which could be

Under the Black Flag

Pirates. Harcourt, Inc.: Orlando, FL, 1997.
Part 1: Summary The point of this book was to put aside the myths about pirates and replace
them with facts. There are many fictional myths about pirates and their lives on the sea. Many
books and movies have built pirates up to be romantical heroes instead of the ruthless savages
they were, so this book focuses on separating fact from fiction about life as a pirate. Many plays

Although some pirates were not as barbaric as others, they were all criminals who broke the law.
Also included in this book is what happened to pirates when they were caught by the government. If
convicted of piracy it often meant a sure death by hanging. Many times the bodies of pirates were
hung over harbors and around ports as a warning of the consequences of being a pirate. The
government hoped that these drastic measures would help quell the raids of pirates. So this book
lets us know that even though pirates have a romanticized appearance, in all reality they were
criminals who had their own way of life.
Part 2: Personal Analysis This book is awesome. I had the mot fun reading it than I ve had in
awhile. This book was very interesting, and it made learning about pirates fun rather than just
dumping a lot of facts on you. It helps the public experience the mentality of the pirate. Even
though pirates were usually oppressed seamen who turned to piracy, they were still ruthless,
stone cold criminals. This book uses a lot of literature and fabricated stories, but the reason for
this is because there is not a lot of documentation of pirates. Some facts have been changed
around while the stories were being retold, and this is the main point of the book; to get back to
the root of who pirates really were. One example of pirate mentality is when Captain Cary s ship

Similarities Between Anslinger And Hearst
Mexican Americans. One of the differences seized upon during this time was the fact that many
Mexicans smoked marijuana and had brought the plant with them, and it was through this that
California apparently passed the first state marijuana law, outlawing preparations of hemp, or loco
weed (Guither, 2013) Harry J. Anslinger and William Randolf Hearst greatly aided the widespread
criminalization of marijuana. Anslinger saw the opportunity for success that the Bureau of
Narcotics (now the DEA) could provide him. He could find the problem and the solution to drug
addiction. He soon realized that opiates wouldn t be enough to help build his success in the Bureau
of Narcotics, so he kick started the war on marijuana working to make possession and... Show more

The Failure Of The League Of Nations
The League of Nations was doomed To failure from the start Adam Jenner Many may believe that
the League of Nations was doomed to failure as soon as the doors of their Geneva headquarters
were opened; many may say that it was built on unstable foundations; that the very idea of it was a
grave misjudgment by the powers that were. Indeed it is true that the League of Nations, when it
was set up was marred with many fundamental flaws. The League of Nations was formed after the
end of the First World War. It was an idea that President Wilson introduced as an international police
force to maintain peace and to ensure the devastating atrocities like the First World War ever
happening again. The principle mission of the League of Nations was to maintain World Peace.
Their failure as the international peacekeeping organization to maintain world peace brought the
outbreak of Second World War. Their failure in policing and preventing peace in settling disputes
throughout Europe, erupted into the most devastating war ever. Through my analysis of the failures
of the League of Nations to maintain world peace, my arguments will demonstrate the
understandings of the reasons and events that created the most devastating environment for the
Second World War.
When the league first started everyone had different ideas of what organization it should be and
what aims it should have. The league was based on the covenant a set of 26 articles or rules which
all members had to agree to and the

The Government Of The United States Government
The United States government was created by the founding fathers to allow men to be free, but
to also have a governmental system that protects that freedom as well. The United States
government is problematic. It goes above and beyond the necessity and, because of this, is
dysfunctional at best. The government today has gone beyond protecting the rights of American
citizens. It has become a large entity that is wholly useless. The government of the United States
is too large, therefore, this creates many problems with things like governmental overreach and
extreme inefficiency. A smaller government would be more functional and could return to a
more efficient, and likely constitutional basis of existence. It may be difficult to move to a
smaller government if the United States cannot figure out a good way to do this. The size of the
government has made it to be inefficient for almost everyone to use. Unless one has insider
knowledge, they must stand at the back of a seemingly stagnant line to do simple tasks like
applying for permits. Some of this inefficiency is the result of errors made by the government
which then create more complications to fix. According to the Government Accountability Office (
GAO ), the United States government spends about 45 billion dollars a year on federal programs
that are redundant (Ehley 2014). For a government that is about 18 trillion dollars in debt, that is an
enormous amount of wasted money. The GAO defines the federal programs as

1.0 OBJECTIVE A lot of studies had been conducted on foreign worker issues in Malaysia and
they had been discussed in various dimensions, positive impact such as great contribution to

There is a current 22 year old pop princess that hasn t been involved in the music industry for

This show lasted for four seasons before it was canceled. That show may have been finished, but
the character that she played was not. Grande starred in a spin off of Victorious called Sam Cat
which lasted only one season before ending in 2014. Grande has really made a name for herself in
less than two years. She signed a recording contract with a Major Record Deal, Republic
Records, and is under Scooter Braun Management (known for working with Justin Bieber, Tori
Kelly and The Black Eyed Peas.) Some argue over which is better: Major or Indie Label. Some
artists refuse to sign with a major record label because they want to do their music their own way
and on their own terms and without the restrictions that come with working with a major label.
Personally, I think that people signed to a Major Record Label have more access to larger
resources and people with more experience working in the music industry and with that comes
more success (because I m sure you have heard of all the people that I mentioned that belong to
that label.) Before becoming a music star, Grande just like every other artist drew inspiration from
other female vocalists. Ariana Grande has said she looked up to Imogen Heap, India Arie, Judy
Garland, Brandy, but most importantly, Whitney Houston. She has said Whitney holds such a
special place in my heart. She inspired me to start singing as a little girl. I

Difference Between Fashion And Fashion
In the Oxford English Dictionary, fashion is defined as the production and marketing of new
styles of goods, especially clothing and cosmetics but in reality what is fashion? Many of us have
seen runways and elite fashion shows in the media; we have even dreamed of sitting next to
fashion icons like Anna Wintour and Rihanna while enjoying said shows. Many of us have also
shopped in our favorite stores and noticed how different our clothingmay be from what we see on
the runway. Why is that you ask? The answer is simple: fashionis a complex entity that can be split
into two vastly different categories: high fashion and streetwear. Though high fashion and
streetwear are seemingly merging into one style of design and production, the two have different
backgrounds, sources of inspiration, price points and intended audiences
High fashion is comprised of two categories: haute couture and prГЄt Г porter (ready to wear). In
World of Art: The Thames Hudson Dictionary of Fashion and Fashion Designers, haute couture is
defined as high quality fashion design and construction. This kind of clothing is usually one of a
kind and custom fit; official haute couture brands are determined by the trade union Chambre
Syndicale de la Haute Couture, which produces a list of brands that fit into its criteria. Before the
emergence of ready to wear garments in the latter half of the twentieth century, fashion was an art
that only the wealthy could afford to indulge in. However, during the late

The Invention Of The Technology
Introduction Brief introduction into the topic In evolutionary terms, advancements in technology
are the utmost fundamental events to have occurred in human history. Rapid growths in technology
are extremely beneficial to our species. These growths include, however, not limited to: the
invention of fire, invention of electricity, invention of cars and planes, and the invention of inter
networking (The Internet). The intention of the simplifying of life lead dramatically reduced the
stress on human life. It enhanced life. The invention of fire opened up gateways to cooking, lighting
and creation. The invention of electricity introduced the invention of the light bulb and batteries.
The invention of cars and planes made traveling easier. Finally, the invention of the internet made
retrieving information more accessible. All these inventions had one common intention. To make
life easier, and it succeeded. Furthermore, exponential growth is expected from the growth and
development of this technology. However, batteries, technology based on an outdated principle that
hasn t seen exponential growth yet. In fact, batteries are limiting the progression of society more
than the average person suspects. According to Moore s law which states that computational
intricacy should grow exponentially every two years, batteries fall behind. Battery technology is
estimated to increase by 7% each year (Rabaey, 2009). In the book, Low Power Design Essentials,
it is made evident that battery

Vikings killed numerous bishops, monks, and priest no matter what age they were. And for every
fatality, they each had a weapon to strike fear in the christians. Yet such weapons were crafted by a
hand of a Viking, however, blacksmiths not only made weapons they also crafted jewelry, tools,
decorations, andnails. Vikings attacked and looted monasteries and the town, where they looted
vast amounts of gold and other valuable objects. While the Vikings were often portrayed as violent

The first metals used from the vikings blacksmiths were bronze, from copper and tin ore, and iron,
however, iron was a stronger metal and was simple enough to get (Morette, Procter, Ryder, and

metals was coal; mostly, blacksmiths used various kinds of tools such as; hammers were used
for bending or shaping of other metals, tongs were used for lifting hot metals, shears were used
for cutting, moulds an outline for weapons or other tools, wedges were used for splitting or
holding, and an anvil that is used for a flat surface for metals (Jones, P.g 48), and the vikings also
made horseshoes. In the article, The Evolution of Materials in Arms and Armors: The Viking Seax

used for the coals to burn even at a higher temperature by using air flow through the flame having

Death Depicted In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven
When I read Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven , I was immediately captivated by the new angle
brought to my attention regarding death. While the topic of death is usually associated with either
sympathy or horror, Poe succeeded in portraying a feeling caught between the two; and at the same
time bringing forth new feelings I would never thought to consider regarding death. These feelings
reflect a sorrow so deep it morphs into a psychological madness, a feeling that the pain death brings
has ruined one forever. After analyzing this poem I came to the conclusion that Edgar Allan Poes
The Ravendemonstrates that the sorrow the death of a loved one brings will stay with you forever.
Poe communicated this theme through abstract language connotation,... Show more content on

The first allusion I would like to point out is the phrase the night s Plutonian shore . This phrase
comes uses it when addressing the bird. The word plutonian is used here as an adjective, and the
word is referring to Pluto, Roman god of the underworld, or in other words, hell. Hell can be
directly associated with death, and even more, with an eternal suffering. Hell, according to the
Roman Catholic Church, is the place where souls burn eternally once they re dead. Therefore,
the night s Plutonian shore is an allusion that Poe has used to convey the eternal sorrow left after
a loved one s death. Of course, it can be acknowledged that this allusion isn t a direct or obvious
connection to that, but, in fact, it is this indirect connection Poe has realized that makes the
allusion so fascinating in itself. Another allusion Poe has presented in the poem is shown in
these lines, these lines which I have stated before: Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget
this lost Lenore! Here, the allusion is the word nepenthe . Nepenthe is an ancient greek word,
historically a medicine for sorrow, or the so called drug of forgetfulness . It was first described in
Homer s Odyssey . Here, the allusion is more direct. The narrator is literally begging the fowl for

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Two Spains
What exactly does Las Dos EspaГ±as refer to? Las Dos EspaГ±as or the two Spains refers to the
long term hostility existing in Spain between the conservative and liberal political parties in Spain.
The conservative party is the more close minded Spaniards while the liberal party is more open
minded Spaniards. Spainis split roughly 50:50 between the two parties. The split is one of the
most critical aspects in the Spanish history. If one does not know about the Two Spains, one does
not know the full history of Spain. One of the main strengths is when both groups agree on the
same ideas. But periodically the Two Spains lose their patience and begin to challenge each other.
The phrase Two Spains originated in a short poem written by a Spanish poet Antonio Machado....

they were allowed to dispose of their property but were not able to take any silver or gold out of

proves that religion was used as a weapon during that time. The Conservatives appointed a strong

The Dichotomy Of The Role Of Women In Agamemnon
To the outside, modern day, western observer, the role of women in Agamemnon makes a pretty
clear mark as to how the Ancient Greeks viewed women. Notably, that they seem to hate them. Of
the five women who are mentioned at all in the story, only one is portrayed positively, and even
she is murdered and then only praised and remembered for her beautiful virginity, and her voice.
Repeatedly throughout the play the women are demonized for things that are not necessarily their
fault, and often times are the fault of the men who blame them. While these women can be less than
morally pure, a strangely large amount of blame and doubt gets placed upon them while men are
mourned for heroic deeds and have their misdeeds overlooked. This dichotomy between the two
genders is perhaps clearest between the title character Agamemnonand his wife, Clytemnestra, but
can be seen in sharp detail through the combination of all the women. In the case of
Clytemnestra, there is no doubt that she was wrong in cheating although it was likely that her
husband did as well. However, one of her first interactions on stage is of the chorus doubting her
for seemingly no reason, until she got incredibly graphic with her details which caused them to
exclaim how much her words were like a man s, and then believe her. This kind of persistent lack
of confidence despite her repeatedly proving herself to be just as capable can understandably lead
to a strained relationship between her and her people, and yet

Avm Research Papers
Brain Arteriovenous Malformation, Adult
A brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is a condition that means your arteries and veins are
tangled. The veins bring blood to the heart and lungs. The arteries bring blood away from the
heart and to the brain. If they are tangled, blood is not able to travel to where it is needed. Brain
AVM may also lead to bleeding in the brain (hemorrhage), which can be life threatening. Most brain
AVMs are present since birth (congenital).
CAUSES
It is not known what causes brain AVM. Genes that are passed down through families may cause
some types of AVM.
RISK FACTORS
Risk factors for brain AVM include being male.
SYMPTOMS
Symptoms depend on which area of the brain is affected and the amount of damage. Symptoms
may include:

Paleontology Research Paper
Paleontology, The science for Kids
Out of all of the topic we could have picked for research, I chose the topic of Geology, the study of
fossils. So Geology can be broken into multiple smaller realms of study. So I chose to research
more or paleontology. Ever since I was a child I had a deep fascination with dinosaurs, and any and
ever fact about them. It really is a piece of who I am. Even to this very day I love them. When I see
the word fossil, immediately my mind shoots to prehistoric, dinosaur fossils. There are plenty of
kinds of fossils, but this one is very significant to me. As a child I could answer any question about
dinosaurs, anything at all. As I was studying more about this topic this time around there were some

The question is why? After doing research I couldn t find a definitive answer. It also depends
heavily on where those people lived. The over compensating question of why, would be to better
understand what came before us. If you are of a simpler mind it might be to figure out what these
giant things are and how I can get one. Now that my understanding and interest have grown with
my age it might be to better understand all of God s creations and understand as much as I can.
Fossils, and Dinosaurs have caught the human imagination. They are wonderful, fascinating, and
thought provoking. Why wouldn t you study them. Those original scientists, geologist said and
examined if their theories were right. Thats what encouraged them to examine fossils, prehistoric
creatures ,dinosaurs, more closely. This science makes massive strides, and then takes long,
lengthily stale moments. A good example would be what dinosaurs where first thought to look
like, to what they look like now. ( see included photographs ) or the descovery of new species.
Scientists often find fossils, but are not quick to make observations of life styles, diet, mating,
colors. These are all question that are extremely hard to observe when the animal in question has
been dead for hundreds of millions of years... onward and upward. So at this point its mostly
theories. Examining others work in this science is extremely

Leaks Nebraska Methodist College Abstract This is a review of the Transtheoretical Model/Stages of Change Model developed by J. O. Prochaska and C.C. DiClemente to assess an individual s readiness to change a behavior. In this paper, we will discuss the history of the theory and its constructs. We will also examine a diabetes study and the impact of TTM in conjunction with Social Cognitive and the Theory of Reasoned Action as applied urban African Americans with Type 2 Diabetes. But they re not particularly conscious of that, so it s not a focused, rational decision making process (Sholl, 2011). If the individual has heard from their support system that they need to lose weight, quit smoking or drinking, and instead of taking the advice, they ignore them, shut down or change the subject, then they are in the stage of precontemplation. Unlike the precontemplation stage, an individual in the contemplation stage actually thinks about taking action within six months. They understand the pros and the cons of changing the behavior and are open to receiving information and advice. Contemplators are often characterized as behavioral procrastinators who can get stuck here for long periods of time. The individual in the preparation stage is ready to make a change within the next 30 days. This individual has developed a plan and is ready for an action oriented program such as smoking cessation or weight loss. Action is the next stage in the TTM model. This is the stage where the individual has actually made modifications; gotten off the couch and exercising. The action is observable and measurable. This stage is where all those small steps, small choices, and mini sacrifices make a huge difference, notes Larsen (Larsen, 2007). Individuals in this stage benefit from emotional and physical support, and from having people around them recognize their progress and help keep them accountable. When an individual reaches the ... In the novel, The Secret Life of Bees, Sue Monk Kidd writes about the life of young girl whose spontaneous decisions lead her to her mother s past. Lily s life has revolved around the lack of a mother. Her father, T. Ray, is a harsh and unloving peach farmer who punishes Lily unreasonably and does not fulfil his father like position. Lily s adventure begins after catching a few bees in a jar. She empathizes with them as they are stuck and alone, something she understands all too well. On the day of her birthday, Lily and her negro nanny, Rosaleen, go out into town to register for voting. Rosaleen and Lily are on their way when a group of white men begin to harass Rosaleen and degrade her for being a negro. Rosaleen pours her spit jug on the shoes of the man and is given no mercy when she is beaten. With Rosaleen ending up in jail, Lily returns to the comfort of the bees once again. As she opens the jar and watches the bees escape, Lily follows suit and flees from home. She breaks Rosaleen out of the hospital and they hitchhike their way to Tiburon, South Carolina. Lily believes that her mother, Deborah, had once visited Tiburon and where she had obtained a picture of a Black Madonna. • 5. Downloading Music Should Be Made Legal Essay example Downloading All Music Should Be Made Legal In 1999, an 18 year old college dropout named Shawn Fanning revolutionized the music industry with the program he invented called Napster. Napster was an internet program that made it possible for users to share music files for free. His product gained instant interest across America which brought an opposite response from the Music industry. In 2001, as expected, Napster was sued for copyright infringement by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and shut down at the peak of its success. The media industry wanted the technology halted because it was terrified of how it would affect the economy. Nonetheless, new programs are rising to take Napster s place and history is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at the main headlines for downloading that originate from the RIAA, it can be noticed that the word illegal is replaced by unauthorized . This is because the courts state that the word illegal is considered to be a false statement when making reference to downloading music. When the topic is brought to discussion, two typical responses are shouted from the opposing sides. Supporters of downloading and lobbyists alike both have very opinionated views on the situation. Some people are arguing that stealing is stealing and wrong no matter what. But is the downloading of music considered stealing per se? Providing a copyrighted source of material without charge may sound ludicrous, but when comparing the downloading of music to radio broadcasting, very few changes are present. Radio broadcasting is allowing listeners to sample copyrighted material free of charge and is known as a great are kept up to date with the latest media releases. So if free listening is the problem here, then the radio is much more a factor to be feared. Music downloading functions in the same motion, but with more benefits to the artist. Without the free listening opportunity presented by downloading, many new bands would never have the chance to extend their music on a large scale, from a lack of funds. As quoted from a survey of Vintage Cask, 85% of profit does not come from the selling of music CD s believe it or not, but from the selling of merchandise like band shirts and ... • 6. Review Of Odd Arne Westad s The Global Cold War My enemy s enemy is my friend, quotes author and historian Odd Arne Westad throughout the course of his book, The Global Cold War. Westad uses this quote to reference and even explain how Third World countries in the Cold War would play off the two superpowers and influence the world around them. The goal of the author, as well as the major thesis of The Global Cold War, is to place a greater amount of emphasis on Third World countries during the Cold War era. By using a voluminous number of examples of these countries as well as quotations from leaders, Westad successfully argues that the most important events and decisions by the two superpowers in the Cold War were connected and linked to developments, as well as failures, in the Third World. ... The first section of Westad s book comprises the first three chapters where the author takes an individual look at the development of the United States, the Soviet Union, and the Third World. The second section of Westad s book, which are comprised of chapters four and five, focuses on anticolonial resistance that led the creation and growth of interventionism. The third section, chapters six through eight, is by far the strongest section of the book. This section discusses the struggle of Third World countries against foreign intervention. Afghanistan is a prime example that shines in this section because the author demonstrates how the role of the two superpowers in the country exacerbated the violence not only in the country, but around the world. This demonstrates how vital it is to examine Third World countries during the Cold War. The final two chapters, the fourth and last section, detail the end of the Cold War: from the Reagan era to the fall of the Soviet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But, I planned to get it last week after my wife and children returned from their vacation in Bali. After hearing his weasel words, Godafrid fired back, Why did you delay having the viral vector that bore your name? Why did you force this treatment on others, like those in Africa, when you were unwilling to have it yourself? In other words, did you avoid it purposely knowing of its dangers? He wondered how anyone could survive the impossible situation of working with Stinguard for even a day, let alone twenty years like she had done. Perhaps going to Gnaritus saved her. Despite knowing he needed to conclude the case, he longed to go to Gnaritus immediately as well just to be as far away as possible from the destructive madness engulfing Earth. Before the discovery of gold in the Coloma Valley was a barely populated area. However, after the discovery, Coloma became a thriving community. It was named the county seat and served a population of several thousand. • 10. Analysis Of The Green Mile Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of the Literary and Media Arts Festival. In today s session, Novel to Film Adaptations Empowering the Marginalised Perspective, Frank Darabont s corrupt film adaptation of, The Green Mile, will be exposed as a blatant juxtaposition of Paul Edgecombe s journal on which it is based. Audiences are invited to follow the disturbing experiences and happenings upon the green mile in 1932 at the Cold Mountain Penitentiary death row. The film constructs Percy Wetmore as cruel, malevolent and aggressive, however, this is contrasted by the reality presented in the journal, through which he portrays characteristics of dedication, determination and intuition. Three scenes evident within both written evidence and film will be pinpointed in today s presentation explaining why my client, Percy Wetmore has been unjustly represented. Firstly, the Squashing of Mr. Jingles, secondly Delacroix s Execution, and thirdly, John Coffey s Arrival. It is apparent through the examination of the character construction of Percy Wetmore within the film, that the representation dehumanizes, exploits and manipulates the actions and intentions of Percy in a manner that is discriminatory. The Squashing of Mr Jingles is a scene in the film which cleverly appeals to the emotions of audiences, and is particularly significant as it further establishes the demonization of Percy. In this particular scene a low camera angle, confronting sound effects and elusive dialogue are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The primitive nature of Civil War medicine, both in its intellectual underpinnings and in its practice in the armies, meant that many wounds and illnesses were unnecessarily fatal. • 12. Dr. Caligare People often take for granted the importance of the first impression, the few pivotal seconds where the eye decides what someone is like before they ve spoken a single word. In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Weine uses costume design and German expressionist makeup to visually assign roles of sanity and insanity to the characters that are immediately identifiable. In doing so, Weine insinuates the people are all too willing to accept these visual cues without question, when in reality the line between the sane and insane may not be so clear cut. In order to achieve this effect, Weine first establishes a sense of normalcy by appealing to society s picture of the common man. However, a closer look at the characters appearance following the big twist challenges this simplicity. The first clue that something is off is the nature of the people that inhabit the asylum, especially Cesare. A close up on Cesare reveals that his appearance has been skewed by Francis madness. His messy hair has been combed into place, reminiscent of Alan s normal locks. Most notable, the dark circles under his eyes have disappeared, implying that Cesare is not, and was never, a somnambulist. Thus, the truth behind Francis story begins to crumble. The discovery of Francis insanity is realized by his courtyard companion, whose visible shock and horror is paralleled in the audience. In this moment, it is revealed that everything has been told from the perspective of a madman, destroying the credibility of the entire story. The ambiguity increases as Queen Jane receives another close up: her makeup looks the same softened, even. Jane s appearance barely changed, and the fact that her makeup was even darker in the flashback where she was normal blurs the line between Francis delusions and reality. Afterwards, Caligari comes down in a way similar to the beginning, emerging out of the shadows. However, the makeup, hair, and costuming has gone, revealing a completely normal looking person. Her uncanny role results from a combination of qualities that simultaneously identify her with, and distance her from, each side of her ancestry. Helga s identity becomes taboo because it leads her diverging in two contrary directions (Freud 24) that cannot exist simultaneously. Helga feels the effects of her taboo social status early on when she is alienated because of the absence of her family. This absence becomes critical to Helga s acceptance by James Vayle s family when they are discussing their possible marriage plans. They had never liked the engagement, had never liked Helga Crane. The combination of dated prose, a general aversion to plots I deemed to be too romantic , and my viewing of the film adaptations were enough to keep me away from her novels. When I was asked to read Persuasion for a class, I was hesitant and unwilling to fully engage with the material. This prevented me from enjoying the book fully. I didn t quite know what was holding me back from enjoying the book, but I knew that it was something more than my explicit biases against Austen. After a little reflection, I realized that my implicit biases were shaping my reading of Austen. My implicit bias against a novel and author that I perceived as overly feminine was coloring how I was interacting with and what messages I was taking from Persuasion (Austen). Implicit biases are the unconscious attitudes that shape our thoughts, actions, and beliefs (Banaji and Greenwald 46; Staats et al. 10; Schneider 169).Their impact is important to study because implicit biases shape our responses to situations. Reader response theory examines how a reader responds to a given text. Theorists such as Jauss and Eco include concepts that implicit bias can and should be built into. Jauss horizons examine how our experiences, expectations, culture, and place in time shape how we react and create meaning. Though implicit bias is not noted in Jauss formulation of the horizon, it should be considered as it shapes our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After, examining the bug for a while he began to play as superman. Playing pretend helps children develop better social skills, self control, and they understand the perspective of others (Woolfolk Perry, 2015, p. 242). Her story gets even more confusing when Oroonoko is kidnapped and sold into slavery himself by the same person that once helped Oroonoko traffic slaves. After he was captured and enslaved, he is treated humanely by his captor, which seems rather odd since most other slaves were treated very poorly. He then finds his love, Imoinda living in a cottage with a cute little dog, which paints a very pretty picture, almost like a fairy tale, which again, is in sharp contrast of most depictions of slave quarters during this time. The main issue lies in the fact that these are key artefacts for Benin and hold a huge part of the culture and history, which for obvious reasons, make these Sculptures more than just an art piece for outsider people to look at. These all hold meaning to the people of Benin and Africa, yet they have been taken away. Everybody sees art from a different perspective; it will signify something to one person that won t necessarily be the same as the next person who observes it. However, the problem here is that to the Africans, these artefacts have more or less the same meaning and explanation to them all, symbolising the same things, and cultural events, changes, a description of their history almost. Which therefore really makes you feel where they belong is back in Africa, their true home with representing their true meaning. On the other hand, the debate lies in those who believe the artefacts can be represented in Western countries. Note they do not at any point say they are in the right place by being in the Western side but they do believe that their presence in national galleries throughout much of Europe is and will only be a positive thing for the Africans and the Europeans This view is highlighted by the situation of which we find ourselves in today, for example, very prejudice, biased and unfounded opinions cause much conflict between races, cultures religions and countries and this is ... Writing Assignment Unit 7 HIST 1421 Greek and Roman Civilization By Robert Wright The Development of Roman Architecture Ancient Roman concrete is one of the greatest achievements to architecture since the creation and shaping of limestone by the Egyptians when building the great pyramids. Roman concrete structures today still stand after withstanding natures slow but powerful degrading capacity. If you visit the Roman Pantheon, you would see, after all this time, that the building still stands prominently and in near perfection to this day. However, Roman concrete was most widely used to construct roads for troops and to help faster economic trade, as well as, being used commonly in buildings and walls. At about 120 124 the Romans architectural mastery was so great that they could build the circular Pantheon temple, a testament to the majesty of the Roman empire, and a place where the Romans could pray to their gods. If the shape is within the boundaries of the other shape, a collision detection occurs. The reason behind collision detection is to demonstrate the laws of Physics. For instance, since any objects cannot phase each other, the computer must demonstrate that two objects must be separate from each other and not within one another. Sources: http://jsfiddle.net/gQ3hD/2/ Applying Circle Collision Detection The following JavaScript code in figure 8 applies the Circle Collision algorithm and checks if the two circles are intersecting [4]. If there is an intersection that is present, the green circle will change colors. Figure 8. The following is a JavaScript code that detects collisions between two circles. In figure 8, the codes var circle1 and var circle2 defines the elements of the circle and what color it represents before and after the collision. First, the variable dx and dy calculates the x axis and the y axis of the two circles plus its corresponding radius. Next, the variable distance uses the distance formula to get the distance between the two circle. Afterwards, it uses a conditional statement to check for a collision if the distance is less than the combined radius of the two circles. Thus, the circle is green in figure 8 as there is a collision. Figure 9 demonstrates a result if there is no collision between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the tragic play, Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, Miller shows the dark side of those living in America who strive for success. The play follows a 63 year old struggling salesman living in the late 1940 s by the name of Willy Loman. Willy aspires to be wealthy and known by living out the American Dream so he could support himself and his family. However, Willy, being the tragic hero, ultimately fails in completing any of his goals. The suffering brought upon by Willy Loman and his obsession with the American Dream contributes to the tragic vision of the play as a whole because Willy was destined to fail at the get go, his vision of the American Dream conceals reality, and Willy s beliefs that he holds dear are false. In Death of a Salesmanby Arthur Miller, the protagonist and tragic hero, Willy, was destined to be unsuccessful at the get go. In the play, it is revealed that Willy is skilled with his hands. However, Willy remains a salesman, and never pursues a more hands on job. In the requiem, after Linda explains that Willy was wonderful with his hands, Biff claims, He had the wrong dreams. Solution: 1.1 Difference (1) GET is typically used to retrieve data from server that doesn t change anything on the server. POST is used to send data to server that somehow causes a change in the state of server, such as inserting data in a database. (2) On client side, GET uses URL to submit data and the data will be seen in URL. To submit data, POST puts data in HTML HEADER. (3) For GET, the server uses Request.QueryString to get the value of variables. For POST, the server uses Request.Form to get the data submitted. (4) GET usually transfers small amount of data, while POST can transfer relatively larger amount of data. 1.2 Why one is slightly more secure than other POST is slightly more secure than GET, because using GET, parameters will be seen in the URL, while using POST, parameters are hidden from view. 2.Explain why certificate authorities are important to HTTPS /SSL. I have found this to be true in many areas of life, including my college classes. Having almost completed my first semester of Composition I, I have realized that college presents a new arena of life, and therefore demands thoughtful planning, planning made necessary by new found freedom. Freedom is a relative term in college; it is experienced in and out of the classroom, in both creativity and time management. With new found freedoms that college brings, comes heightened responsibility to prioritize and plan for classroom success. I will share specifically about my experience in Composition I. Since success begins with planning, I ll start there. In my previous English classes, teachers encouraged my ability to create thoughtful essays, and focused more on the elements of voice and less on the structure of writing. This encouragement allowed my perception of my writing ability to be inflated as I entered college. Perhaps you too see yourself as a good writer. Don t let this perception keep you from embracing the opportunity to increase your writing ability. Their ability to captivate, move, and inspire earned them recognition as movie stars. This rich history of stars, ranging from Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton to Mary Pickford and Julia Roberts has seemingly been genderneutral. However, the question of wage discrimination among actors and actresses is often not a point of discussion. In addition, there seems to be a huge discrepancy between how actors and actresses fair at the box office. This is reinforced when looking at the average box office figures. Ten actors have averaged figures over $100 million while only two actresses managed to reach that milestone. If an actors and actresses are paid based upon their box office power, it would seem that actors are better at selling movie tickets relative to actresses. However, these figures might be a result of the types of roles offered to men and women. In order to examine gender discriminatory pay practices in Hollywood, there needs to be a comparison between men and women performing the same exact job. In cinema, it could be the case that actors and actresses are simply not working in exactly the same industry. Since they are not playing the same character, and the fact that film offers different genres by which actors and actresses are defined within, the pay difference may be due to the variation between roles. Tinea Skin Infection Paper In typical dermatophytic hair infections, three major fungal invasion patterns can be identified, based on the arthroconidia and hyphal arrangement (Gupta Tu, 2006). One such pattern is called an ectothrix and during this arthroconidia arrangement is outside of the hair. During the endothrix pattern the arthroconidia arrangement is inside of the hair strand, making it more fragile. The last pattern is termed as favic where both hyphal and arthroconidia involvement with the hair strands and hair follicles can be seen. The arthroconidia associated with these hair infections plays a vital role in dissemination of these infections (Murray, Rosenthal Michael, 2013). When the clinical diseases caused by these dermatophytes are considered, the typical symptoms of Ringworm infections play a major role in the initial diagnosis of these infections. Even though the type of symptoms appear may differ with the location of the infection within the body, most of these Ringworm infections share some common symptoms (Hay, 2006). Right from the very first trip to the unknown destination, to the point of near death, Primo s life was a constant battle between life and death. Throughout the book, Primo portrays his walk through living hell in a way that is both powerful and painful. The cover of the book displays a black and white picture of three bald men, one of which is Primo, all in the striped clothes that bore the title of prisoner. The black and white could represent their lives in the sense that its either death or mere survival, never anything grey, never anything good. Their faces are blank, as they would be throughout their entire time in Auschwitz. Scarcely enduring experiments, starvation, maltreatment and neglect, what other emotion but surrender would be painted across their face? The only colour used is a dull mustard colour, which I believe is quite effective in that it poses various ideas for the reader, including those such as the colour representing either the Jews, Nazi German s, or the horrific ideas which they were forced to think. The fonts of the title and the name of the author also hold a lot of purpose. The font used for the title shows a lot of resemblance to the print of the tattoos that were placed on the prisoners that were registered into the concentration camps. It s also noticeable that the print is washed out, which could be related to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many books and movies have built pirates up to be romantical heroes instead of the ruthless savages they were, so this book focuses on separating fact from fiction about life as a pirate. Although some pirates were not as barbaric as others, they were all criminals who broke the law. Also included in this book is what happened to pirates when they were caught by the government. If convicted of piracy it often meant a sure death by hanging. Many times the bodies of pirates were hung over harbors and around ports as a warning of the consequences of being a pirate. The government hoped that these drastic measures would help quell the raids of pirates. So this book lets us know that even though pirates have a romanticized appearance, in all reality they were criminals who had their own way of life. Part 2: Personal Analysis This book is awesome. I had the mot fun reading it than I ve had in awhile. This book was very interesting, and it made learning about pirates fun rather than just dumping a lot of facts on you. It helps the public experience the mentality of the pirate. Even though pirates were usually oppressed seamen who turned to piracy, they were still ruthless, stone cold criminals. This book uses a lot of literature and fabricated stories, but the reason for this is because there is not a lot of documentation of pirates. Indeed it is true that the League of Nations, when it was set up was marred with many fundamental flaws. The League of Nations was formed after the end of the First World War. It was an idea that President Wilson introduced as an international police force to maintain peace and to ensure the devastating atrocities like the First World War ever happening again. The principle mission of the League of Nations was to maintain World Peace. The Government Of The United States Government The United States government was created by the founding fathers to allow men to be free, but to also have a governmental system that protects that freedom as well. The United States government is problematic. It goes above and beyond the necessity and, because of this, is dysfunctional at best. The government today has gone beyond protecting the rights of American citizens. It has become a large entity that is wholly useless. The government of the United States is too large, therefore, this creates many problems with things like governmental overreach and extreme inefficiency. A smaller government would be more functional and could return to a more efficient, and likely constitutional basis of existence. It may be difficult to move to a smaller government if the United States cannot figure out a good way to do this. The size of the government has made it to be inefficient for almost everyone to use. Unless one has insider knowledge, they must stand at the back of a seemingly stagnant line to do simple tasks like applying for permits. Some of this inefficiency is the result of errors made by the government which then create more complications to fix. According to the Government Accountability Office ( GAO ), the United States government spends about 45 billion dollars a year on federal programs that are redundant (Ehley 2014). Many of us have also shopped in our favorite stores and noticed how different our clothingmay be from what we see on the runway. Why is that you ask? The answer is simple: fashionis a complex entity that can be split into two vastly different categories: high fashion and streetwear. Though high fashion and streetwear are seemingly merging into one style of design and production, the two have different backgrounds, sources of inspiration, price points and intended audiences High fashion is comprised of two categories: haute couture and prГЄt Г porter (ready to wear). • 50. Death Depicted In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven When I read Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven , I was immediately captivated by the new angle brought to my attention regarding death. While the topic of death is usually associated with either sympathy or horror, Poe succeeded in portraying a feeling caught between the two; and at the same time bringing forth new feelings I would never thought to consider regarding death. These feelings reflect a sorrow so deep it morphs into a psychological madness, a feeling that the pain death brings has ruined one forever. After analyzing this poem I came to the conclusion that Edgar Allan Poes The Ravendemonstrates that the sorrow the death of a loved one brings will stay with you forever. Poe communicated this theme through abstract language connotation,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first allusion I would like to point out is the phrase the night s Plutonian shore . This phrase comes uses it when addressing the bird. The word plutonian is used here as an adjective, and the word is referring to Pluto, Roman god of the underworld, or in other words, hell. Hell can be directly associated with death, and even more, with an eternal suffering. Hell, according to the Roman Catholic Church, is the place where souls burn eternally once they re dead. Therefore, the night s Plutonian shore is an allusion that Poe has used to convey the eternal sorrow left after a loved one s death. Of course, it can be acknowledged that this allusion isn t a direct or obvious connection to that, but, in fact, it is this indirect connection Poe has realized that makes the allusion so fascinating in itself. Another allusion Poe has presented in the poem is shown in these lines, these lines which I have stated before: Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget this lost Lenore! Here, the allusion is the word nepenthe . Nepenthe is an ancient greek word, historically a medicine for sorrow, or the so called drug of forgetfulness . It was first described in Homer s Odyssey . Here, the allusion is more direct. The narrator is literally begging the fowl for this kind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Two Spains What exactly does Las Dos EspaГ±as refer to? Las Dos EspaГ±as or the two Spains refers to the long term hostility existing in Spain between the conservative and liberal political parties in Spain. The conservative party is the more close minded Spaniards while the liberal party is more open minded Spaniards. Spainis split roughly 50:50 between the two parties. The split is one of the most critical aspects in the Spanish history. If one does not know about the Two Spains, one does not know the full history of Spain. One of the main strengths is when both groups agree on the same ideas. But periodically the Two Spains lose their patience and begin to challenge each other. The phrase Two Spains originated in a short poem written by a Spanish poet Antonio Machado.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Romans were in Spain for six hundred years, which dates back to 205 BC to 410 AD. Fernando and Isabel then continued with the Conservative Party in 1492. The inquisition of Jews was established in 1480 but the expulsion of Jews did not occur until Fernando and Isabel s reign over Spain. Under the reign of Fernando and Isabel, all Jews were ordered to leave Spain; they were allowed to dispose of their property but were not able to take any silver or gold out of the country. The Conservative Party was a strictly Catholic party thus the expulsion of the Jews proves that religion was used as a weapon during that time. The Conservatives appointed a strong central authority someone who would be a voice of the party. The Conservative party made every effort to unite Spain through politics, and religion but the opposing party did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. The Dichotomy Of The Role Of Women In Agamemnon To the outside, modern day, western observer, the role of women in Agamemnon makes a pretty clear mark as to how the Ancient Greeks viewed women. Notably, that they seem to hate them. Of the five women who are mentioned at all in the story, only one is portrayed positively, and even she is murdered and then only praised and remembered for her beautiful virginity, and her voice. Repeatedly throughout the play the women are demonized for things that are not necessarily their fault, and often times are the fault of the men who blame them. While these women can be less than morally pure, a strangely large amount of blame and doubt gets placed upon them while men are mourned for heroic deeds and have their misdeeds overlooked. This dichotomy between the two genders is perhaps clearest between the title character Agamemnonand his wife, Clytemnestra, but can be seen in sharp detail through the combination of all the women. In the case of Clytemnestra, there is no doubt that she was wrong in cheating although it was likely that her husband did as well. However, one of her first interactions on stage is of the chorus doubting her for seemingly no reason, until she got incredibly graphic with her details which caused them to exclaim how much her words were like a man s, and then believe her. This kind of persistent lack of confidence despite her repeatedly proving herself to be just as capable can understandably lead to a strained relationship between her and her people, and yet ... The veins bring blood to the heart and lungs. The arteries bring blood away from the heart and to the brain. If they are tangled, blood is not able to travel to where it is needed. Brain AVM may also lead to bleeding in the brain (hemorrhage), which can be life threatening. Most brain AVMs are present since birth (congenital). CAUSES It is not known what causes brain AVM. • 55. Paleontology Research Paper Paleontology, The science for Kids Out of all of the topic we could have picked for research, I chose the topic of Geology, the study of fossils. So Geology can be broken into multiple smaller realms of study. So I chose to research more or paleontology. Ever since I was a child I had a deep fascination with dinosaurs, and any and ever fact about them. It really is a piece of who I am. Even to this very day I love them. When I see the word fossil, immediately my mind shoots to prehistoric, dinosaur fossils. There are plenty of kinds of fossils, but this one is very significant to me. As a child I could answer any question about dinosaurs, anything at all. As I was studying more about this topic this time around there were some very important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The question is why? After doing research I couldn t find a definitive answer. It also depends heavily on where those people lived. The over compensating question of why, would be to better understand what came before us. If you are of a simpler mind it might be to figure out what these giant things are and how I can get one. Now that my understanding and interest have grown with my age it might be to better understand all of God s creations and understand as much as I can. Fossils, and Dinosaurs have caught the human imagination. They are wonderful, fascinating, and thought provoking. Why wouldn t you study them. Those original scientists, geologist said and examined if their theories were right. Thats what encouraged them to examine fossils, prehistoric creatures ,dinosaurs, more closely. This science makes massive strides, and then takes long, lengthily stale moments. A good example would be what dinosaurs where first thought to look like, to what they look like now. ( see included photographs ) or the descovery of new species. Scientists often find fossils, but are not quick to make observations of life styles, diet, mating, colors. These are all question that are extremely hard to observe when the animal in question has been dead for hundreds of millions of years... onward and upward. So at this point its mostly theories. Examining others work in this science is extremely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
