Belgian scientists successfully created human lung tissue from embryonic stem cells, a breakthrough as lung tissue was thought only able to regenerate itself. The stem cells helped regenerate lung tissue faster and more effectively by generating blood vessels, though they did not completely heal it and have been limited as they do not produce enough growth factors after transplantation.
