Integrating Technology Within The Classroom
Literature Review
In the last few decades, there has been a push for integrating technology within the classroom.
Technologies has become commonly associated with the activities of everyday life, as a result, there
has been increased pressure to include technology in classrooms, kindergarten through twelfth grade
since the 1980s. (page #?Grant et al., 2015). This technology push has only increased since the last
century; educators are no longer responsible for teaching the traditional reading, writing, and
arithmetic pedagogy of the past. In respect, students are no longer viewed in the same blank slates, but
as collaborators in their learning. This collaboration is effective in preparing students for the job
market of the future, in which these technologies will be ever present and constantly changing.
In the 21st century, teachers and students have access to a constantly evolving series of technologies
which has facilitated a continued interest in how to use these types of technology in educational
environments. Through the incorporation of educational technology models and theories, the
practitioner s focus is specifically on how technology can be used to improve student performance
through processes, procedures, and tools. Processes and procedures may comprise any task or
intervention involving anything from a simple instructional strategy to a complex instructional system.
(Wade et al., 2013).
However, successful integration of technology will only occur when

Patrick Bateman s Borderline Personality Disorder In...
Based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, the 2000 movie, American Psycho, is a young but classic film
to horror and gore enthusiast. I chose this film because it is one of the most disturbingly shocking, yet
nonchalant, movies that I ever seen. The main character, Patrick Bateman, is a successful businessman
living in New York City who has a wonderful life. Although he seems perfectly normal, he has a
darker side which he hides from his close friends and family. This darker side is, in part, a result of his
borderline personality disorder.
The presence of Patrick s borderline personality disorder was never openly discussed in the film,
although many of the traits were clearly displayed through Patrick s words and actions. To support
this,
Patrick never openly shows his disorder to his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They tend to be uncertain of their values, goals, loyalties, careers, choices of friends, and sometimes
even their sexual orientations
(Roepke et al., 2010). This information from the textbook clearly explains and supports Patrick s
behavior and helps to diagnose his character in the film.
In the film, there is a scene where Patrick and a coworker go into a stall and snort cocaine while at a
party. This scene relates to pages 110 and 111 where the text talks about stimulants and their effects on
the body. Several scenes in the movie depict Patrick having sexual relations with various women,
which can be related back to pages 212 through 215. These pages in the text discuss sexual
motivation, behavior, and orientation. Lastly, Patrick often shows a lack of emotion and interest in life.
This characteristic is displayed all throughout the film and plays a huge role in describing the
character.
In order to understand Patrick s lack of emotion, pages 218 and 219 in the text inform on emotion and
the expression of

The Early Years Of The American Civil War
The study of the early years of the America republic has not received the same attention from
historians, as have many other periods of American history. In fact, only slavery and sectionalism, the
leading causes of the American Civil War, have been consistently covered in much of the historical
study of the first half of the nineteenth century. This became quite obvious with the readings that I
spent time with this semester. Many were somewhat long in the tooth, yet still remained standard
bearers for their topic, as further study has been sporadic or nearly nonexistent. This seems especially
true of the studies that attempt to bring together the various elements in a manner that creates a big
picture of the time period. Regional or social histories have dominated this period in the last twenty
years and perhaps it is time for a new attempt at integrating the various pieces of the puzzle into a
coherent picture. This is not to dismiss the people and groups that make the story, but to put their story
back into a greater context. The numerous books I read, when pieced together, accomplish this to
some degree, but this manner is incomplete, as it does not, nor were the majority of the authors
intending too, create a complete picture of what America was like in the early nineteenth century. The
first historian to attempt an overarching theme of the west was Frederick Jackson Turner in his
Significance of the Frontier in American History. For years, Turner s vision was

Uncovering the Truth About John Brown
Throughout history John Brown has been described as a terrorist, mentally ill, and a failure among
other things. Because he stood strongly for what he believed in, and his goal was eventually achieved
he can be seen for the most part as a hero. Brown was described as an American who gave his life that
millions of other Americans be free (Chowder,6). Brown was a headstrong abolitionist who claimed
that he was told by God to end slavery causing him to see himself as a latter day Moses (Chowder, 6).
With this, he stopped at nothing to fulfill these expectations. Brown s heroism is displayed through
how he was recounted by others during and after his lifetime, the actions though drastic he took when
fighting for what he believed in, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He fought long and hard for what he believed with certitude was a sin against God. (Bordewich, 3). Of
the many words used to describe Brown, one that would come up occasionally was hero. But it wasn t
until the 1970 s that John Brown the hero re emerged. (Chowder, 6). Two studies done by Stephen B.
Oates and Richard Owen Boyer came to a conclusion that Brown was stubborn, monomaniacal,
egotistical, self righteous, and sometimes deceitful; yet he was, at certain times, a great man.
(Chowder,6). Also, among African Americans, Brown s heroism has never been in doubt. (Chowder,
6) Many strong black figures commended Brown s actions in various ways. Frederick Douglass
praised him in print; W. E. B. Du Bois published a four hundred word celebration of him in 1909;
Malcolm X said he wouldn t mind being with white people if they were like John Brown; Alice
Walker, in a poem, even wondered if in an earlier incarnation she herself hadn t once been John
Brown. (Chowder, 6). Harriet Tubman thought Brown was the greatest white man who had ever lived.
(Bordewich, 5). He even began comparing himself to Jesus Christ. And he was not alone. (Chowder,
5). Though he was described as crazy for a large part of his life, the fact that he was remembered by so
many in such a positive manner, makes him a hero.
Most of Brown s reputation was based off of the Pottawatomie Massacre. It was an event led by John
Brown that is usually described as cold

Bar Magnets Essay
1. Bar magnet is the simplest form to explain magnetism. Bar magnets are permanent magnets and this
means that they have magnetism all the time, it can t be turned on and it can t be switched off. They
have two poles that include: north seeking pole (N) and south seeking pole (S). These poles appear to
occur in equal and opposite pair. Magnetic meridian is the vertical plane in which the magnet lies.
Magnets are made of materials that can be magnetized, which are also the ones that can be attracted to
magnet, which are called ferromagnetic materials. These include: iron, steel, nickel, cobalt, some
alloys of rare earth metals and some naturally occurring minerals such as lodestone. Mu metal is a
nickel based soft magnetic alloy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Small bar magnets that are responsible for a magnetic behaviour are actually groups of atoms.
Electron particles show magnetic behaviour of their motion each electron has a magnetic moment.
Groups of these atoms form small domains, in which the magnetic moments of the electrons are
aligned with each other. When material is non magnetised the domains are aligned in random way so
their magnetic field cancels each other out.
Properties of a simple bar magnet:
1. Unlike poles of magnet attract each other
2. Like poles of magnet repel each other
3. The force of the attraction of a magnet is greater at its poles than in the middle.
4. If a bar magnet is suspended by a thread and if it is free to rotate, its south pole will move towards
the north pole of the earth and vice versa.
A magnetic field is the magnetic effect of electric currents and magnetic materials. The magnetic field
at any given point is specified by both a direction and a magnitude (or strength); as such it is a vector
field. A magnetic field may be plotted by using a plotting compass to define the lines of force.
Bar magnet is placed on a sheet of white paper. Starting near one end of the magnet, the positions of
the ends of the compass needle are marked by pencil dots. The compass is then moved until the near
end of the needle is exactly over the dot furthest from the magnet and a

In the poem My Papa s Waltz , the author Theodore Roethke uses imagery, metaphors and imagery to
effectively convey the poems message of unquestionable love and his emotions towards his father.
This poem can convey two different meanings or point of view to the readers. On the other hand, the
author uses some word choices to make you use some critical thinking to get the correct message of
the poem. Two main themes or ideas of this poem is the love to his father but also, the fearfulness that
he has to him. This poem it is seen to be interesting because of the ambiguity that comes to it. There

Theories Of Humanitarian Intervention
Section one deals with the debates that surround the issues of humanitarian intervention and just war
theory on the basis of international scale. One article by Holzgrefe is completely focused on the
debate, stating the many ethical theories of many different theorists: from utilitarianism; natural law;
social contractrianism; communitarianism; and legal postivism (7). Holzgrefe goes on to define what
each ethical theorist is and their understanding of the debate on humanitarian intervention. However,
there is the idea of when it is right to intervene and when intervention is unfavorable. The most
interesting part was the third section of the article.
In the third section of Holzgrefe s article, he dedicates it around the Charters of the ... Show more

The idea of selective is that it is based on a voluntary choice to determine when and why one should
intervene when massacres and wars are surrounding certain countries. Brown sets up an example
where he discusses the speech of Prime Minister Tony Blair, in Blair s last question, he asked do we
have national interests involved? (4). Brown discusses how this question alone shows selectivity.
Brown goes on to say that what Blair meant was that unless interests are directly involved,
intervention is likely short lived and ineffective (6). However, goes back to the idea of human rights
violations, which has been the one of the main reasons why all these articles have some
theorist/individuals who are trying to validate that a good reason to intervene is for the sole purpose of
human rights, that it is not an obligation, but as a way to treat human as an end not as means as Kant
would say. Which briefly brings me to touch upon the fourth and last article by Teson Fernando, the
interesting part is that human intervention is an obligation. In a way that is true, but no country is
going to agree on that because countries are selfish and don t have an obligation to help their
neighbors if it mean that their on safety and interest are at

Disadvantages Of Interplanetary Travel
One of the main challenges that face interplanetary travel is the production of very large velocity
changes, necessary for travel between planets in the solar system. The Sun s gravitational pull affects
how spacecrafts move. The farther from the sun the slower the spacecraft and the faster they are closer
to the sun. Additionally, two planets have different distances from the sun and this causes a difference
on their speeds around the sun. This therefore means that the spaceships traveling closer to the sun
must reduce their speed with respect to the sun in order to intercept. For a spacecraft traveling away
from the sun, the speed must be increased substantially.

Johnson Space Center. The folks at the center recently tested an electromagnetic (EM) propulsion
drive with the potential to replace the traditional propellant used in space travel. Although this
technology has been tested before, scientists at Johnson Space Center are the first to test and conduct
such trials under conditions similar to space in vacuum.
EM drives have over a long time worked great in theory but the technology had been seen to be
hindered by certain fundamental principles of physics. This is the main reason why it had take more
time to fully attain its stability for real world applications. The key to present success for this drive lay
in the quantum vacuum. The practical application for electromagnetic drives to space travel and
specifically to space stations was certainly brought closer to reality in 2010 by a Chinese professor,
Juan Yang. His research showed that such a drive may provide the needed power to enable the
International Space Station to accomplish its tasks without any need for energy re boosts from visiting
vehicles. The main challenge was how to overcome the complexity of propulsion in

A True War Story Is Never Moral Analysis
Beginning in 1965, the Vietnam War was a nearly decade long conflict in which the United States
attempted to halt the inevitable rise of Communism in Southeast Asia. Ultimately resulting in the
deaths of 60,000 Americans, the Vietnam War was a massive failure in American history ( Vietnam
War Fast Facts ). Domestically, the War sparked controversy and protests across the nation. As chaos
ensued in Vietnam, many Americans questioned the moral values of the United States Government. In
media, such inquiries quickly became a prominent topic, and films such as The Deer Hunter, directed
by Michael Cimino, became major hits. Even years later, the Vietnam War remained a significant
focus for many Americans, sparking a Vietnam war veteran, Tim O Brien, to write his war story novel,
The Things They Carried. In his book, O Brien thoroughly describes the guidelines of a true war story,
with a main point being that, A true war story is never moral (O Brien 76). In his film The Deer
Hunter, Michael Cimino asserts Tim O Brien s guideline that war stories are morally indifferent.
During the movie, Michael s actions in the Vietnamese village and Nick s death represent the lack of
virtue in the war.
Reflecting O Brien s guideline stating that, A true war story is never moral, Cimino ensures that the
protagonist s actions are not always portrayed as heroic (O Brien 76). One of such scenes occurs when
Michael is first depicted in the war. After the destruction of a small Vietnamese

Patience In Romeo And Juliet
A wise man does not try to hurry history. Many wars have been avoided by patience and many have
been precipitated by reckless haste says Adlai Stevenson, a former UN Ambassador who had to work
with people from many different backgrounds and get them to agree on sensitive topics. These
enlightened words from Stevenson can easily relate to the love story of Romeo and Juliet, a story that
tells the tale of two young teenagers who become lovestruck over one another the minute they lay
their eyes upon one another. The young couple desperately wants to get married, but their feuding
families, the Capulets and the Montagues, are in their way. Romeo and Juliet tragically decided to

Either thou or I or both must go with him! (3.1.133 134). The play makes clear that the death of
Romeo s best friend pushed him into letting haste control his actions, which led him to kill Tybalt. It
illustrates how anytime a decision is made in a hasty manner, it will lead to worse outcome. In my
past, I was in a friendship were I was enraged about some of the things that one of my friends was
saying to me and my friends. I became impatient and didn t want to try to work things out, which led
me to ending the friendship. If I would have had more patience and tried to manage the problem, it
may have prevented the awkwardness that still exists between us to this day and could have allowed
the friendship to stay. Another example from the story that illustrated haste is the passage, Thursday is
near. Lay hand on heart. Advise. If you be mine, I ll give you to my friend. If you be not, hang! Beg!
Starve! Die in the streets! (3.5.203 204). Shakespeare continues to present how the characters like
Lord and Lady Capulet reacted with more rashness and how their rashness continued to negatively
impact the outcome. Juliet s parents thought it would be best for her well being to marry her off since
she was upset about the death of her cousin Tybalt. They ended up pushing her into a situation she
didn t want to be in without consulting

The State Of Tennessee Defines Domestic Abuse Essay
The State of Tennessee defines Domestic Abuse as inflicting or attempting to inflict physical injury on
an adult or minor by other than accidental means, placing an adult or minor in fear, physical harm,
physical restraint, or malicious damage to the personal property of the abused party including
inflicting, or attempting to inflict, physical injury on any animal owned, possessed, leased, kept, or
held by an adult or minor, or placing an adult or minor in fear of physical harm to any animal owned,
possessed, leased, kept, or held by the adult or minor (Tennessee Code Annotated §36 3 601 (F) (3)).
This definition for many civilians is open to interpretation. As many officers have observed, verbal
altercations become heated and law enforcement is called at times by a third party. In most cases this
he said, she said occurs without witnesses (willing to cooperate) or unfortunately evidence of an
assault, the officer is therefore hard pressed to make a determination as to the primary aggressor.
Many times, as I have noticed, the aggressor has left the scene by the time officers arrive and if there
is no physical sign of abuse, a report or memo is done. Although the complainant is advised to follow
through with the necessary documentation to pursue legal remedies, they often do not either from fear
of retaliation by the individual, fear of the legal system as they have been negatively involved in some
aspect of the judicial system or lack of confidence in the legal system and

Thomas A. Dorsey and Gospel Music Essay
Thomas A. Dorsey and Gospel Music
Gospel songs combined religious lyrics with melodies and rhythms inspired by early blues and jazz.
Many churches rejected this new integration of religious conviction and popular song as devil s music
that had no place in a house of worship.
Thomas A. Dorsey, the Father of Gospel Music described gospel, saying, It s evangelistic, it has a
rhythm and carries a message with the feeling and fever that many sacred songs do not have, the
gospel is good news. Good News is often used as a reference to the word of God. Gospel music is

bluesman composing, performing, and recording the blues with many talented musicians, including

Georgia Tom Dorsey worked with many of the significant early blues performers of Chicago. Ma and
her husband Pa Rainey played across the country in the early days of the blues. Dorsey saw her sing at

Secondly, television has made children more violent. Television not only makes children more violent,
but it also makes children more fearful to the world around them. Cyndy Scheibe describes how
parents are concerned about violence on television. A big problem is that not only does adult crime
dramas include violence, but so do cartoons and slapstick comedies. Scheibe explains some other
effects of violence on television are that children may become less sensitive to the pain and suffering
of others in reality and television. She also states that children may behave in aggressive and harmful
ways to others. Scheibe says the reason for this is, The impact of TV violence on aggression seems to

everyone else as a non jewish volunteer . Thirdly, by observing other prisoners in the room Guido and
Joshua were in, they eventually decreased implying deaths were always happening. This strongly
contrasted with Joshua s innocent views of the camp built and protected by the great love of Guido.
Also their dirty uniforms and skinny figures showed the brutal life they were going through. Guido
was samely suffering, but he acted positively and fully enthusiastically whenever talking to Joshua,

1. The client is essentially begging for help. The client may not have anywhere else to turn and wants
to be taken seriously. The client likely believes that if she does not present severely, then she will be
dismissed and not get the help she desires. 2. The client has a tendency to exaggerate, overreact,
and/or be traumatized. This cognitive style may be due to some personality disorders as well as
depression. There is likely not any benefit to the client, unless she is merely seeking attention. 3. The

Additionally, without interview data, most psychological assessments are virtually meaningless. 2.
Psychological Tests/Assessments: These measures typically identify a wide range of explicit
information about the client, such as attitudes, opinions, beliefs, and knowledge/facts. They also help
evaluate the client s level of functioning in comparison to the norm group. This is particularly
important in informing the diagnosis and treatment of the client. 3. Informant Reports: This involves
interviewing people who know the client, such as family members, friends, and teachers. These
reports can be helpful because they can provide different perspectives of the client. They may also
inform the clinician if the client s behaviors generalize across settings. 4. Records: By obtaining client
records, whether previous mental health records, medical records, legal records, or school records, the
clinician may find important information that the client did not report. Overall, incorporating several
different sources of information allows for a more comprehensive understanding of the client, which
leads to more accurate and effective diagnosis and treatment. An empirically grounded approach uses
the method of contrasted groups in order to create a measure that differentiates between groups. This
typically involves administering several items to two different groups, such as patients with
depression and

Becoming A Driverless Car
Intro
Three years ago, Nissan came out as the first car manufacturer to announce that their driverless
vehicles would be ready for consumer adoption in 2020. This was good for the future of the car
industry because it promoted awareness for this new emerging technology.
In September of 2015, Chinese bus manufacturer Yutong announced its self driving car which had
successfully handled 26 traffic signals, several lane changes, and at least one passing maneuver during
a 20 mile drive from Zhengzhou and Kaifeng. The company hasn t revealed much, but they say the
bus used laser, radar, and camera systems on both sides of the vehicle. The autopilot system has a

He responded saying, There s times when I might be in a taxi and I might be anxious because I m late
to get to the airport. But most of the time I find myself doing something else. I trust that driver is
going to get me there. That they re doing the right thing. The hope is you get to the point [in a
driverless car] where you re on your phone or reading your book or talking to a loved one instead [of
being anxious]. So the priority moves to your interaction in life from how you re lane changing on the
freeway. I guess if you can make that time in the vehicle more meaningful and useful, maybe you don
t worry as much time about the time you re spending in it.
With driverless cars, time spent in a car will be more meaningful and people will be less likely to drive
in an aggressive manner and lash out at other drivers. Self driving cars might even have a therapeutic
effect on normally aggressive

Visual Effects and Symbolism in Citizen Kane Essay
Citizen Kane is one of the best critically acclaimed films of all time. It is everything a lot of the
movies now a day only dream of being. This film is way ahead of it s time in all senses. It uses a non
linear approach to the story telling, which is something we ve been seeing a lot of recently but was
rarely found in films from the forties. The visual and audio elements of this movie are also
unbelievable. With all the technology we have now, it s hard to image how Welle s pulled it off in
1941. Citizen Kane is definitely a film that proves how a movie can be great with little to no
technology available.
The visual aspects of this film are truly amazing. One of things that really caught my eye was the set
of Xanadu. When Susan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is called a nonlinear story line, an approach many current filmmakers use, specifically Quinton
Tarentino. I personally prefer a story told this way in a film. I feel that using this approach puts more
emphasis on the plot and the main character. It enhances the storyline and is easier to follow the
details that are important to some films. Using the nonlinear approach in Citizen Kane gives it a more
unique story line and portrays Kane s life in a way that makes it easier to understand his struggles and
emotions. I do not believe it makes it more difficult for an audience to follow as long as they are
focusing on the movie. The problem with this type of storytelling approach is that if one doesn t pay
close attention to the movie, one can miss out on a lot of important details in the movie. For example,
at the beginning of this film, clues are given to the fact that Rosebud is the sleigh. If one isn t paying
close attention to those little details, one would miss out on the clues given.
Most of the main characters in this film are funny and sort of like caricatures and at the same time
realistic in their ideas and points of view. For example, Bernstein is the usual funny, sidekick, little
man one would see in old movies. At the same time, many of the things he says and does are very
important to the film and Kane s life in general. Susan was also the typical young innocent girl with a
dream to be a singer. At

Dome Tents
There are many different types of camping tents, and the tent that you choose will depend heavily on
the type of camping that you will be doing. The tent that you choose for a family vacation will likely
differ from the tent that you would choose to take with you on a hiking trip. Before deciding on a tent,
you should first ask yourself what you will need from the tent that you choose. Will you be constantly
putting it up and taking it down on a hiking trip? If so, you should try to find a camping tent that is
easily set up, and easily taken down to save yourself some time. There are many different styles of

As per the name, these tents usually have a large frame that is held together by poles and ties
throughout. Early frame tents were known to be very heavy, but recent innovations have made them
quite light, and very easy to transport from one location to another. These tents are among the hardest
tents to set up, and you should always ensure that you have enough time int he day left to put the tent
up while there is still day light. These tents have a large amount of space inside of the tent, and do not
use up as much ground area as larger dome tents.
Ridge Tents
Ridge tents are generally used by one person, and are not ideal for families. These tents are among the
easiest to set up, and are often used by hikers and campers who will be moving locations frequently
during their hike. They are shaped like a wedge, with the larger end being near the entrance, and the
slimmer end near the back end of the tent. They can hold as many as three people, but it is
recommended that one to two people sleep in ridge tents.
The camping tent that you choose should depend heavily upon the type of camping that you plan to

Standard State Conservation Districts Law (1931-1939)
The Government started out in 1934 with the Taylor Grazing Act, which set restrictions on the use of
public lands for grazing, followed by a switch from free ranging cattle to feedlots (Naff). On March 3,
1937, Arkansas became the first state to enact the Standard State Conservation Districts Law (Dust
Bowl 1931 1939). Other men started a business of erupting TNT in the sky to encourage rainfall
(Surviving the Dust Bowl). President Roosevelt ordered the Civilian Conservation Corps to plant trees
from Canada to Abilene, Texas, in a huge belt of more than two million to break the wind, hold water
in the soil, and keep the soil itself in place. Irrigation expansion was the most essential solution to the
drought for crop purposes, but discouraged due to water availability (Marrin). ... Show more content

The Problem Of Homeless Homelessness
Do you know that homelessness is an occurring matter in Australia, a country that is considered a
developed country? In fact, there are more than 100,000 people that are having the problem of no roof
to give themselves shelter. Homelessness is such an important issue to be worried about, because as a
society, we should look after for our surrounding people. Everyone needs a shelter for safety purposes,
this is one of the essentials of human needs. This essay will talk about how system thinking could help
to smooth out the wicked problem.
In order to talk about system thinking, first, we need to understand what systems are in the context of
sustainability. Every problem or situation is made from several elements and parts, they are
interconnected and affect each other. Any changes towards the parts will change how the whole
system works. System thinking is an alternative way to look at a problem, it focuses on the big picture
instead of the individual parts to solve complicated problems. It focuses on how a small change
towards a single part interacts with another part towards affecting the picture (Aronson, n.d.).
Homelessness is a global problem where there is not an ultimate solution to solve this problem. The
most obvious way to define homelessness is the absence of shelter, secondly is define as people that
have no control or access to a social relation. There are about 100 million people that are homeless
worldwide. According to The World Bank and The Human development

The Popularity Of Tea During The Tang And Song Eras Of China
On the topic of world beverages, there is none such as ubiquitous as tea. Within history, tea has played
a large role in many monumental world events, from the American Revolution to the Opium Wars.
Though the origin of this bitter, fragrant juice is uncertain, it is known that tea cultivation is rooted in
China. Though tea had been known and consumed prior, it was not until the Tang dynasty that a level
of artistry surrounded tea was achieved. By the Tang dynasty and up through the Song, tea had
developed a rather contradictory identity. To tea purists such as Lu Yu, tea was an almost spiritual art,
closely related to the ideals of Buddhism, to be savored individually in a quest for enlightenment. To
many others, tea was a commercial and social drink, the facilitator of social gatherings and a luxury
indicator of social rank. This paper will explore the development of these contrasting identities
through the unprecedented expansion of the popularity of tea during the Tang and Song eras of China,
and its relationship with poetry, religion, and social conventions.
Moderation is the very essence of tea. Tea does not lend itself to extravagance. Thus is said about tea
by Lu Yu, the Tang dynasty author of the groundbreaking work ambitiously titled The Classic of Tea.
One cannot understand the mindset surrounding tea during the Tang dynasty without knowledge of
this monumental work. Lu Yu s role in spreading tea culture throughout the Tang dynasty was vast to

How Did Stalin Influence American Culture
After World War Two, Stalin s Iron Curtain descended across Europe. This was an attempt by him to
isolate and shield the Soviet Union from Western and non Soviet controlled areas. Above all, Stalin
and other Soviet leaders feared influence from The United States. Their fear was quite justified, as
Soviet people became incredibly curious and eager to borrow and emulate American culture. Similar
fears were present in other communist Eastern European countries in the Eastern Bloc. Despite Stalin
s and communist leaders attempt at isolation, Eastern European people were still able to breach the
Iron Curtain and learn about Western ideas and culture. Culture in the Eastern Bloc became dominated
by American taste and culture as early as the 1940s, but it wasn t until the 1970s that rock music began

was everything but normal. Twenty year old Adam Lanza fatally shot twenty children, six staff

particularly Sandy Hook? George Mead introduced symbolic interaction and it helps us understand the
results of this attachment society has on this mass shooting. Sociologist Emile Durkheim will help us
get a better understanding of why Adam Lanza took his own life after killing innocent people. Adam

The Higgs Boson Is The Particle That Gives Weight To Other...
The Higgs Boson.
The Higgs boson is the particle that gives weight to other particles. The Higgs Boson is a particle
within the standard Model of physics. It creates weight by interacting with other particles; the more it
interacts, the heavier it is. We have a tendency to consider mass as ingrained importance of all things,
however the majority of physicists consider that without the Higgs boson, mass fundamentally doesn t
exist. Without the higgs boson nothing would exist, this is due to the fact that everything has mass,
even miniscule molecules weigh something. The Higgs Boson is not heavy itself(as it is a particle
particles are profoundly diminutive) but depending how much it interacts with the particles around it,
determines how heavy the particles within the higgs field is. This was all a theory since 1964 until
scientists at CERN used the Large Hadron Collider(LHC) to find the theory of the Higgs Boson to be
a real particle. The particle decays almost instantaneously so scientists at CERN are trying to slow
down the process of decay and evaluate the process. We have a tendency to consider mass as ingrained
importance of all things, however the majority of physicists consider that without the Higgs boson,
mass fundamentally doesn t exist. There are 17 particles within the standard model of physics.
Fundamental particles are the components of matter, called fermions. Bosons are the particles that
create interactions. There are twelve dubbed fermions, therefore

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) were established to serve the African American
community by providing them a higher education. Before HBCU s were established blacks were

Historically Black Colleges are starting to have more white students than blacks in the schools. When
people hear about these types of universities they assume that only blacks attend the school. In all
actuality, the colleges allow any race to attend the schools.

also seen throughout prehistoric architecture as far back as the stone age.

It could be the indoor regulator. In the event that the issue is with the indoor regulator, you re fortunate
that is typically a much less expensive fix than the heater.
Once you ve affirmed that the heater is not the issue, there are a few things you can do to investigate
all alone before calling a repairman. On the off chance that those don t work, then it s an ideal
opportunity to enlist a jack of all trades or HVAC expert to repair or supplant the gadget.
(Kompareit.com, 2016)
Broken indoor regulator can bring about amazing temperature swings, a heater that cycles on and off
too oftentimes or a heater that does not create heat. To see whether the indoor regulator is the issue,
swing it to the inverse setting (in case you re utilizing the warmth, turn the indoor regulator the
distance to cool) or simply turn the temperature far up. On the off chance that nothing happens
following a couple of minutes, the indoor regulator is broken or defective. (Home Guides | SF Gate,
2016)
Step 3 Construct hypothesis: open the thermostat and clean and check wires and connections.
Step 4 Test with an experiment: Remove the thermostat cover and (carefully!) clean the components
with a small paintbrush. Sometimes a thermostat won t work simply because it s dusty.
Step 5 Analyze and report results: So after opening the thermostat I see that s it s very dusty in there
and there are some dust mites at the ends where the signal transmits to the furnace so I clean it with a

  • 2. Integrating Technology Within The Classroom Literature Review In the last few decades, there has been a push for integrating technology within the classroom. Technologies has become commonly associated with the activities of everyday life, as a result, there has been increased pressure to include technology in classrooms, kindergarten through twelfth grade since the 1980s. (page #?Grant et al., 2015). This technology push has only increased since the last century; educators are no longer responsible for teaching the traditional reading, writing, and arithmetic pedagogy of the past. In respect, students are no longer viewed in the same blank slates, but as collaborators in their learning. This collaboration is effective in preparing students for the job market of the future, in which these technologies will be ever present and constantly changing. In the 21st century, teachers and students have access to a constantly evolving series of technologies which has facilitated a continued interest in how to use these types of technology in educational environments. Through the incorporation of educational technology models and theories, the practitioner s focus is specifically on how technology can be used to improve student performance through processes, procedures, and tools. Processes and procedures may comprise any task or intervention involving anything from a simple instructional strategy to a complex instructional system. (Wade et al., 2013). However, successful integration of technology will only occur when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Patrick Bateman s Borderline Personality Disorder In... Based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, the 2000 movie, American Psycho, is a young but classic film to horror and gore enthusiast. I chose this film because it is one of the most disturbingly shocking, yet nonchalant, movies that I ever seen. The main character, Patrick Bateman, is a successful businessman living in New York City who has a wonderful life. Although he seems perfectly normal, he has a darker side which he hides from his close friends and family. This darker side is, in part, a result of his borderline personality disorder. The presence of Patrick s borderline personality disorder was never openly discussed in the film, although many of the traits were clearly displayed through Patrick s words and actions. To support this, Patrick never openly shows his disorder to his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They tend to be uncertain of their values, goals, loyalties, careers, choices of friends, and sometimes even their sexual orientations (Roepke et al., 2010). This information from the textbook clearly explains and supports Patrick s behavior and helps to diagnose his character in the film. In the film, there is a scene where Patrick and a coworker go into a stall and snort cocaine while at a party. This scene relates to pages 110 and 111 where the text talks about stimulants and their effects on the body. Several scenes in the movie depict Patrick having sexual relations with various women, which can be related back to pages 212 through 215. These pages in the text discuss sexual motivation, behavior, and orientation. Lastly, Patrick often shows a lack of emotion and interest in life. This characteristic is displayed all throughout the film and plays a huge role in describing the character. In order to understand Patrick s lack of emotion, pages 218 and 219 in the text inform on emotion and the expression of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Early Years Of The American Civil War The study of the early years of the America republic has not received the same attention from historians, as have many other periods of American history. In fact, only slavery and sectionalism, the leading causes of the American Civil War, have been consistently covered in much of the historical study of the first half of the nineteenth century. This became quite obvious with the readings that I spent time with this semester. Many were somewhat long in the tooth, yet still remained standard bearers for their topic, as further study has been sporadic or nearly nonexistent. This seems especially true of the studies that attempt to bring together the various elements in a manner that creates a big picture of the time period. Regional or social histories have dominated this period in the last twenty years and perhaps it is time for a new attempt at integrating the various pieces of the puzzle into a coherent picture. This is not to dismiss the people and groups that make the story, but to put their story back into a greater context. The numerous books I read, when pieced together, accomplish this to some degree, but this manner is incomplete, as it does not, nor were the majority of the authors intending too, create a complete picture of what America was like in the early nineteenth century. The first historian to attempt an overarching theme of the west was Frederick Jackson Turner in his Significance of the Frontier in American History. For years, Turner s vision was ... • 5. Uncovering the Truth About John Brown Throughout history John Brown has been described as a terrorist, mentally ill, and a failure among other things. Because he stood strongly for what he believed in, and his goal was eventually achieved he can be seen for the most part as a hero. Brown was described as an American who gave his life that millions of other Americans be free (Chowder,6). Brown was a headstrong abolitionist who claimed that he was told by God to end slavery causing him to see himself as a latter day Moses (Chowder, 6). With this, he stopped at nothing to fulfill these expectations. Brown s heroism is displayed through how he was recounted by others during and after his lifetime, the actions though drastic he took when fighting for what he believed in, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He fought long and hard for what he believed with certitude was a sin against God. (Bordewich, 3). Of the many words used to describe Brown, one that would come up occasionally was hero. But it wasn t until the 1970 s that John Brown the hero re emerged. (Chowder, 6). Two studies done by Stephen B. Oates and Richard Owen Boyer came to a conclusion that Brown was stubborn, monomaniacal, egotistical, self righteous, and sometimes deceitful; yet he was, at certain times, a great man. (Chowder,6). Also, among African Americans, Brown s heroism has never been in doubt. (Chowder, 6) Many strong black figures commended Brown s actions in various ways. Frederick Douglass praised him in print; W. E. B. Du Bois published a four hundred word celebration of him in 1909; Malcolm X said he wouldn t mind being with white people if they were like John Brown; Alice Walker, in a poem, even wondered if in an earlier incarnation she herself hadn t once been John Brown. (Chowder, 6). Harriet Tubman thought Brown was the greatest white man who had ever lived. (Bordewich, 5). He even began comparing himself to Jesus Christ. And he was not alone. (Chowder, 5). Though he was described as crazy for a large part of his life, the fact that he was remembered by so many in such a positive manner, makes him a hero. Bar magnets are permanent magnets and this means that they have magnetism all the time, it can t be turned on and it can t be switched off. They have two poles that include: north seeking pole (N) and south seeking pole (S). These poles appear to occur in equal and opposite pair. Magnetic meridian is the vertical plane in which the magnet lies. Magnets are made of materials that can be magnetized, which are also the ones that can be attracted to magnet, which are called ferromagnetic materials. These include: iron, steel, nickel, cobalt, some alloys of rare earth metals and some naturally occurring minerals such as lodestone. Mu metal is a nickel based soft magnetic alloy, ... Electron particles show magnetic behaviour of their motion each electron has a magnetic moment. Groups of these atoms form small domains, in which the magnetic moments of the electrons are aligned with each other. When material is non magnetised the domains are aligned in random way so their magnetic field cancels each other out. Properties of a simple bar magnet: 1. Unlike poles of magnet attract each other 2. Like poles of magnet repel each other 3. The force of the attraction of a magnet is greater at its poles than in the middle. 4. If a bar magnet is suspended by a thread and if it is free to rotate, its south pole will move towards the north pole of the earth and vice versa. A magnetic field is the magnetic effect of electric currents and magnetic materials. The magnetic field at any given point is specified by both a direction and a magnitude (or strength); as such it is a vector field. A magnetic field may be plotted by using a plotting compass to define the lines of force. Bar magnet is placed on a sheet of white paper. Starting near one end of the magnet, the positions of the ends of the compass needle are marked by pencil dots. The compass is then moved until the near end of the needle is exactly over the dot furthest from the magnet and a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Disadvantages Of Interplanetary Travel One of the main challenges that face interplanetary travel is the production of very large velocity changes, necessary for travel between planets in the solar system. The Sun s gravitational pull affects how spacecrafts move. The farther from the sun the slower the spacecraft and the faster they are closer to the sun. Additionally, two planets have different distances from the sun and this causes a difference on their speeds around the sun. This therefore means that the spaceships traveling closer to the sun must reduce their speed with respect to the sun in order to intercept. Ultimately resulting in the deaths of 60,000 Americans, the Vietnam War was a massive failure in American history ( Vietnam War Fast Facts ). Domestically, the War sparked controversy and protests across the nation. As chaos ensued in Vietnam, many Americans questioned the moral values of the United States Government. In media, such inquiries quickly became a prominent topic, and films such as The Deer Hunter, directed by Michael Cimino, became major hits. Even years later, the Vietnam War remained a significant focus for many Americans, sparking a Vietnam war veteran, Tim O Brien, to write his war story novel, The Things They Carried. In his book, O Brien thoroughly describes the guidelines of a true war story, with a main point being that, A true war story is never moral (O Brien 76). In his film The Deer Hunter, Michael Cimino asserts Tim O Brien s guideline that war stories are morally indifferent. During the movie, Michael s actions in the Vietnamese village and Nick s death represent the lack of virtue in the war. Many wars have been avoided by patience and many have been precipitated by reckless haste says Adlai Stevenson, a former UN Ambassador who had to work with people from many different backgrounds and get them to agree on sensitive topics. In my past, I was in a friendship were I was enraged about some of the things that one of my friends was saying to me and my friends. I became impatient and didn t want to try to work things out, which led me to ending the friendship. If I would have had more patience and tried to manage the problem, it may have prevented the awkwardness that still exists between us to this day and could have allowed the friendship to stay. • 27. The Problem Of Homeless Homelessness Do you know that homelessness is an occurring matter in Australia, a country that is considered a developed country? In fact, there are more than 100,000 people that are having the problem of no roof to give themselves shelter. Homelessness is such an important issue to be worried about, because as a society, we should look after for our surrounding people. Everyone needs a shelter for safety purposes, this is one of the essentials of human needs. This essay will talk about how system thinking could help to smooth out the wicked problem. In order to talk about system thinking, first, we need to understand what systems are in the context of sustainability. Every problem or situation is made from several elements and parts, they are interconnected and affect each other. Any changes towards the parts will change how the whole system works. System thinking is an alternative way to look at a problem, it focuses on the big picture instead of the individual parts to solve complicated problems. It focuses on how a small change towards a single part interacts with another part towards affecting the picture (Aronson, n.d.). Homelessness is a global problem where there is not an ultimate solution to solve this problem. The most obvious way to define homelessness is the absence of shelter, secondly is define as people that have no control or access to a social relation. There are about 100 million people that are homeless worldwide. According to The World Bank and The Human development ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ratio decidendi in a case is the binding part of the Judge s decision and is to be relied upon in future. In almost all cases the Judge will also make further comment or explanation as to their decision, this is not always based on current law nor will it relate to the facts of the case and is usually part of an opinion. These additional comments that do not form part of the ratio decidendi are know as obiter dictum. The ratio decidendi is the legal rule, the obiter dictum are the judges supporting comments. • 29. The Popularity Of Tea During The Tang And Song Eras Of China On the topic of world beverages, there is none such as ubiquitous as tea. Within history, tea has played a large role in many monumental world events, from the American Revolution to the Opium Wars. Though the origin of this bitter, fragrant juice is uncertain, it is known that tea cultivation is rooted in China. Though tea had been known and consumed prior, it was not until the Tang dynasty that a level of artistry surrounded tea was achieved. By the Tang dynasty and up through the Song, tea had developed a rather contradictory identity. To tea purists such as Lu Yu, tea was an almost spiritual art, closely related to the ideals of Buddhism, to be savored individually in a quest for enlightenment. To many others, tea was a commercial and social drink, the facilitator of social gatherings and a luxury indicator of social rank. This paper will explore the development of these contrasting identities through the unprecedented expansion of the popularity of tea during the Tang and Song eras of China, and its relationship with poetry, religion, and social conventions. Moderation is the very essence of tea. Tea does not lend itself to extravagance. Thus is said about tea by Lu Yu, the Tang dynasty author of the groundbreaking work ambitiously titled The Classic of Tea. One cannot understand the mindset surrounding tea during the Tang dynasty without knowledge of this monumental work. • 31. How Did Stalin Influence American Culture After World War Two, Stalin s Iron Curtain descended across Europe. This was an attempt by him to isolate and shield the Soviet Union from Western and non Soviet controlled areas. Above all, Stalin and other Soviet leaders feared influence from The United States. Their fear was quite justified, as Soviet people became incredibly curious and eager to borrow and emulate American culture. Similar fears were present in other communist Eastern European countries in the Eastern Bloc. Despite Stalin s and communist leaders attempt at isolation, Eastern European people were still able to breach the Iron Curtain and learn about Western ideas and culture. • 37. The Higgs Boson Is The Particle That Gives Weight To Other... The Higgs Boson. The Higgs boson is the particle that gives weight to other particles. The Higgs Boson is a particle within the standard Model of physics. It creates weight by interacting with other particles; the more it interacts, the heavier it is. We have a tendency to consider mass as ingrained importance of all things, however the majority of physicists consider that without the Higgs boson, mass fundamentally doesn t exist. Without the higgs boson nothing would exist, this is due to the fact that everything has mass, even miniscule molecules weigh something. The Higgs Boson is not heavy itself(as it is a particle particles are profoundly diminutive) but depending how much it interacts with the particles around it, determines how heavy the particles within the higgs field is. This was all a theory since 1964 until scientists at CERN used the Large Hadron Collider(LHC) to find the theory of the Higgs Boson to be a real particle. The particle decays almost instantaneously so scientists at CERN are trying to slow down the process of decay and evaluate the process. We have a tendency to consider mass as ingrained importance of all things, however the majority of physicists consider that without the Higgs boson, mass fundamentally doesn t exist.
