William Tecumseh Sherman Research Paper
William Tecumseh Sherman was a great Union general fighting in the Civil War. His major feat during
the war was his campaign through the South. He started in Chattanooga, Tennessee and ended in
Savannah, Georgia. His March used psychological warfare to make southerners lose support for the
Southern cause by bringing the war to their front doors. This showing of how cruel the war really was
is said to have ended the war more quickly.
It all started November 23, in Chattanooga, Tennessee during the Battle of Chattanooga. Following the
Battle of Chickamauga in September of 1863, General Ulysses S. Grant focused on lifting the
Confederate siege on Chattanooga. Him and General Sherman s army attacked the Confederate troops
eventually winning

Humans Were Affected By Island Dwarfism ( Morwood )
Many people, before the discovery of Homo floresiensis, assumed Homo sapiens were the only living
species of the genus homo since Homo erectus. The 2003 discovery of the hobbit in a limestone cave
in Flores, Indonesia changed the way people today view much of the timeline of early human
evolution. The island of Flores was assumed to have never been connected to any mainland, bringing
to question how this species arrived on the island in the first place as well as what the island looked
like at the time. There were several physical characteristics such as leg length and brain size that made
the discovery of Homo floresiensis so special. The bones found were dated to 18,000 years ago,
astoundingly recently (Brown). To this day, it is unclear how this species evolved to be so small.
Scientists had developed several different theories but have frequently come to the conclusion that
these humans were affected by island dwarfism (Morwood). The environment in which Homo
floresiensis lived, their physical structure and the recency of their existence holds many mysteries
around why they were so small and what impact the above factors had on the hobbit s overall size. The
discovery of Homo floresiensis occurred of the coast of Indonesia on one of the Wallecean Islands
called Flores. The dig site which Homo floresiensis was discovered is called Liang Bua or cool cave .
Father Theodore Verhoeven was the first to report and publish that stone tools were found in central

What Is The Theme Of The Crying Of Lot 49
The Crying of Lot 49 is a 1966 novella written by Thomas Pynchon amidst the spike in social and
political turbulence in the United States of America. The 1960s saw the rise of drug culture, the
Vietnam War, John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King s assassination, the massive rise of the Civil
Rights fight and many other milestone events. Pynchon s novella carries the perceptive sense of chaos,
quite possibly influenced by two things: one, the decade that he was living and writing in and two, that
this was one of his earliest novels. The text explores the consequences of decisions, illusions and
conspiracies all taken on by the protagonist Oedipa Maas.
One of the main themes of the short piece is communication. This is explored greatly in the ... Show

The Crying of Lot 49 lives up to it s satirical nature in mocking Fallopian and later many other
radicals to signify the extremist nature of real life character s facades in the 1960s. By making such a
political statement, Pynchon could be making a reference to the 1964 elections in which the
Democrats snatched all the votes from Congress from right up under them. Chapter 3 is also very
important as it serves as our first introduction to the evasive Tristero . Oedipa goes in to watch the
production of The Courier s Tragedy thinking of bones, hears the word Tristero , and comes out
thinking only of the word. She herself later realizes this. It is possible that the bones could have been
another red herring to throw us off the plot. This novella seems to be entirely made up of red

The Theology Of Thomas Aquinas
Thomas Aquinas was a one of the few philosophers to interpret the theology as a whole distinguishing
the difference between theology and philosophy by explaining Law in general in a detailed account
and focusing on kinds of law which he classified as Eternal, Human, Divine and Natural law. Aquinas
suggests in order for law to be understood some reasoning has to be provided which is why as a
philosopher what he explained could not provoke Christian beliefs, but establish a relationship
between theory and religion.
As a philosopher he understands and describes law as being influenced by certain actions that man
chooses to act upon or refrain from, which is entirely up to us or as he may put it, an ordered rule .
Because of this assumption ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For these laws to be effective and understood he explains the essence of law breaking it down into
three important aspects; Reason a superior order, Common Good some sort of satisfaction through law
(not suggesting he doesn t care) and One who has care in the sense that in the community trust is put
into the hands of someone of higher authority who has common good as their main objective.
Eternal Law is considered a law by Aquinas in the sense that since God being the creator of the
universe, every command will be passed as God understands it and will stand in its eternal form
becoming eternal law. Thomas has portrayed art of eternal law being community ruled through divine
reasoning provided by God meaning his reasoning must have a proper and perfect order making it
eternal.
Since Thomas has used an organizational structure as I explained previously, Divine Law being based
on revelation and extracted from Eternal Law, we learn how the bible has worked in correspondence
with Divine law mainly because of how it is split into Old and New Law similar to the Old Testament
and New Testament in the bible. To my understanding Aquinas bases his facts about the Old law on
the Ten Commandments with an assumption that humans are driven by the fear and the rewards
expected to be benefited from obeying the Law whereas the New

Essay about Changing Perspective Creates Awakening
Changing Perspective Creates Awakening
Change. It is a concept often discussed as being an inevitable part of human life, something people has
experienced numerous of times, and will continue to experience throughout their lives. Change comes
in many forms and has a range of effects, which are either negative or positive on those who
experience it and respond to it. Change, particularly in relation to the topic ¡°Changing perspective
creates awakening¡±, is a view that is repeatedly explored and been written in poem/film by thousands
of composers.
This is evident in the poems such as ¡°Sky High¡±, ¡°Drifters¡±, ¡°No More Boomerang¡± as well as
movie, Patch Adam. These texts emphasize changes in their lives through the use of various ... Show

Personification is also used because the story is told so much from child¡¯s perspective.
The poem ¡°Drifters¡± written by Bruce Dawe in 1968 conveys the concept of change through
language techniques used throughout the text.
Dawe uses descriptive language throughout Drifters, providing the reader with a clearer understanding
of the idea of change and how it affects the characters in the text. The quote ¡°the kids will yell
¡®Truly?¡¯ and get wildly excited for no reason¡± provides the reader with a understanding the
attitude the children¡¯s mother possesses, when children gets excited for no reason, it shows that they
do not yet realize that through change they are leaving something behind and do not yet understand
what is really happening in their lives. Another quote ¡°the loaded ute bumps down the drive past the
blackberry canes with their last shriveled fruit¡± can be understand as a metaphor. For the life they
have left behind nothing and also this quote can also represent the feelings of the mother. It seems she
has no interest left in live; she simply does what she is told to do without any passion

Class, Money, Pride and Happiness in Pride and Prejudice,...
Happiness can be defined in a plethora of ways such as good fortune, a state of well being, or a
pleasurable, satisfying experience. William Thackeray s Rebecca Sharp stated in the novel Vanity Fair
that she could be a good woman if she had five thousand pounds and she could dawdle about in the
nursery and count the apricots on the wall (VF 414). Marianne Dashwood of Jane Austen s Sense and
Sensibility says that she cannot be happy with a man whose taste did not in every point coincide with
my own (SS 15). Most importantly, Elizabeth Bennet of Austen s Pride and Prejudice states that she
would be happy with someone who has no improper pride and is perfectly amiable (PP 364). While all
of these novels give a glimpse into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right from the beginning we understand that Mrs. Bennet s motive is to marry off her 5
daughters(Elizabeth, Jane, Mary, Catherine, and Lydia) to eligible suitors, particularly Mr. Bingley.
Mr. Bennet, being a mixture of quick parts (7), is impartial to this and would rather not visit Mr.
Bingley as Mrs. Bennet alludes that it is customary for the father to visit any potential suitor before the
mother does. With this argument, we see that Mrs. Bennet s happiness is directly linked to the well
being of her daughters. We also see that Mr. and Mrs. Bennet s views of what s right for their
daughters are very different from each other with Mrs. Bennet doing whatever it takes to ensure the
happiness of her daughters while Mr. Bennet is not so proactive in this endeavor.
As the main protagonist of Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet s views on happiness are very much
so connected to her sense of pride. Mary Bennet, one of the younger Bennet sisters, states that A
person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves (PP 21).
Throughout the novel we see that Elizabeth sees herself as a headstrong and sensible woman; one who
would never fall to the fallible feelings caused by love and society. She is much like another of Austen
s protagonists, Elinor Dashwood of Sense and Sensibility, who states at one point during the novel,
Sometimes one is guided by what they

The Origins Of Attachment Theory
The origins of Attachment theory can be traced to the influential work of John Bowlby (1958).
Bowlby s work as a psychiatrist in a Child Guidance Clinic in London caused him to consider the
significance of the child s relationship with their mother in terms of their cognitive, emotional and
social development. Specifically, it contributed to enthralling his interests surrounding the link
between early infant separations with the mother and later maladjustment, leading Bowlby to
formulate the Theory of Attachment. Bowlby argues that this attachment between the mother and child
is different in a qualitative form from any other form attachment. This theory, although seminal, holds
many criticisms from others, stating that children learn more from their peers rather than from their
parents (Harris, 1998). A separate criticism is that of Field s (1996), who evaluates the many
limitations of the Attachment Theory. A primary critic of Bowlby s attachment theory is J. R. Harris.
The general public assume that good natured, sincere, and humble parents will raise children bearing
similar traits whilst parents that are ill tempered, indecent, and cruel will similarly raise children of an
identical nature (Ainsworth, 1969). According to Harris, this may not be the whole truth. Harris (1998)
believes that a child s peers to have greater influence over their personality and character rather than
their parents. An example of this would be children whose parents suffer from

The Death Of Roe V. Wade
Chapter One Before Roe v. Wade, women lived in consistent angst and fear of their own bodies, the
consequences that were brought by unwanted pregnancies, and the very dangerous back alley
abortions. Preceding 1973, unwed women who got pregnant were fired from their employments. The
younger women were sent to maternity homes for mothers who were unwed, and their children were
put up for adoption (Gielow). Pregnant women who were married had no choice but to continue to
carry their pregnancies to term, nevermind their situations and circumstances. They were forced to
carry the unborn child if even if they had many other children to care for and couldn t possibly afford
caring for another child. The women were forced to continue carrying their pregnancies, even if they
had cancer, or the fetuses couldn t survive outside the mother s womb (Gielow). Roe v. Wade was a
dark time. Women were desperate to find an abortion. The methods that were used were both
dangerous, and many times, not effective. Desperate women were driven into the back alley, where
they endured danger and abuse, sometimes sexual. The They jabbed into their uteruses with knitting
needles and coat hangers. They d try to insert chemicals, drain cleaner, fertilizer, radiator flush, and
miss the cervix, corrode an artery and bleed to death ( Abortion ProCon.org. ). Regardless of the legal
status of abortion, its fundamental underlying cause, unintended pregnancy, has been a continuing

catalyst for development of safer practices.
U.S. regulatory, manufacturing and airline officials have been working more closely with their
counterparts in Europe and other regions of the world since the 1992 LaGuardia crash. That accident
followed crashes of a Canadian operated Fokker 28 at Dryden, Ontario, in 1989 and a U.S. built

Several international meetings over the last year have addressed, among other things, disparities in the
regulatory and operational treatment of ground icing threats. International organizations are taking
steps to correct them.
European aviation officials are maintaining their long standing lead in efforts to make operations in
ground icing conditions safer. Minimum ground icing safety practices vary widely from country to

by carriers experienced with ground icing conditions, such as those in northern Europe, Scandinavia
and Russia, into guidelines that can be used by airlines worldwide.

Geological Structure And Lithology Of Platforms Rocks
Geological structure and lithology of platforms rocks are considered as crucial importance in
determining both the process of formation and development of shore platforms (Edwards 1941;
Trenhaile 1987; Sunamura 1992; Kennedy 2010; Dickson et al 2004; Naylor and Stephenson 2010;
Thornton and Stephenson 2006).
Trenhaile (1987) defined three areas that geology will be affectively controlled the process of
formation and development of shore platforms: 1) erosion process; 2) platform profiles; and 3) degree
of inheritance of shore platforms.
Rock lithology, structure and mineralogy could be determined the erosion processed operated upon the
shore platforms. Rocks that is thinly bedded and well jointed will be eroded dominantly be wave
quarrying. Rocks that absorb large quantity of water are probably more susceptible to erode by
chemical solution. Accumulated debris size at the cliff foot is determined geological factors which in
turn determine the amount of erosion rate of cliff.
Rock dip affects the surface morphology shape. Washboard relief develops in steeply dipping, thinly
bedded strata. Smooth surface of platforms occurs when dip is shallow or horizontal.
Rocks strength is controlled either platforms are completely or partially inheritance from previous sea
level rising. If the platforms developed in softer rocks sediments will be probably completely eroded
by rising sea level but if the rocks is harder it may be inherent by past sea level.

Support Kindergarteners Understanding Of Three Dimensional...
This lesson is designed to support kindergarteners understanding of three dimensional shapes. The
students will be able to identify three dimensional shapes, and tell if they stack, slide, or roll. Before
anything was edited from my video it was 1hour long. I edited out the second group/center doing the
same thing I did with the group that is in my video. Starting out I was really nervous about being in
kindergarten, because I have mainly been in the upper grades during clinical and my first experience
of student teaching. There was a lot I learned from first experience in different areas where I needed to
grow as a future teacher. I took all of the comments from my mentor teacher and university supervisor,
and applied them to this second experience so I could improve and find other areas I need to
strengthen. As I was videoing this lesson I found myself so focused on the group that I was videoing,
that some of the other groups were getting a little loud. One thing I need to work on is to not let
videoing keep me from correcting other students when they need reminded to stay on task. This is
something new that I felt like I struggled with this second video, because in kindergarten they do
centers. When I was in my first experience it was just I teaching whole group to third graders, and
they knew the expectations from their teacher and myself.
One of my strengths that I have is my voice projection being strong. I have always had a lot voice, and

Latin American Immigration And The Growth Of The Latino...
Critical Response
Latin American immigration to the United States and the growth of the latino and hispanic population
is currently one of the most controversial topics being debated right now. What started as a small,
regionally concentrated population of fewer 6 million in 1960, is now broadly scattered population of
more than 50 million. Latino population keeps growing and exerting enormous impact on social,
cultural, political, and economic aspects in the U.S. However, unlike what a lot of people think, Latino
immigration to the United states is more than a population s aspirations to the american dream, it has
been influenced by multiple factors such as national, regional, and global developments, the history of
the U.S. military and its foreign policy in the Western Hemisphere, the controversial history of
international border enforcement. When latino immigrants get to the United States, they make it their
nation. However, their nation often fails to protect them and their interests, as well as embrace them.
In this essay, I will explore in detail the various factors that drove the Latino community to immigrate
to the U.S., and how the role of the U.S. as their nation shapes their experience.
Latino migration to the United States has been largely influenced by the economic and political unrest
Latin American countries have experienced and still experience. Latin American countries are still
experiencing things as drug wars, dictatorships, etc. To Latinos, the U.S. is

Mass Destruction of Ecosystems to Accommodate the Automobile
Mitigation, to the dismay of some, has become publicly synonymous with notions of preservation and
conservation. Mitigation is neither the preservation nor is it the conservation of habitat. Mitigation is
the creation of new habitat, or the guarding of an existing habitat to make up for the destruction of
similar habitat somewhere else. It was the infamous environmental buzz word of the nineties,
notorious for its criticism and praise by developers. Criticism because mitigation delays and obstructs
their progress, and praise by those who take advantage of loopholes within the guidelines. All the

Feats that would have been technologically impossible even 50 years ago are now common, such as
the BART crossing under the San Francisco Bay or the extensive bridge systems in the Florida
Everglades.
The technology exists, albeit at what is sometimes great cost. The proportions necessary to create a
tunnel or bridge to accommodate the traffic flow from south Orange county north into Los Angeles
would be fantastic, but possible. But bridge and tunnel systems do offer some alternatives to the
mitigation practices of today. Not entirely eliminating the need to mitigate for the effects of the
transportation systems, but hopefully allowing the system to pass through the habitat not completely
inhibiting the integrity or the function of the ecosystem.
Bridges
Bridges introduce many interesting options for elevating a roadway above sensitive habitat. Bridges
seemingly are best adapted for sensitive aquatic habitats. For example, in place of filling a wetland in
order to construct a road through it, a cable stayed bridge would seemingly accomplish the same job
eliminating the need for the filling of the wetland and providing an alternative with less environmental
impacts. This is by no means suggesting that the bridge would have no environmental impact, only
that the impact would be less

In that classic old movie, Papillon, starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman, there is a particular
phrase that stays in my mind. It occurs when McQueen, playing Papillon, is in solitary confinement
and is obviously on the point of dying. He goes into a sort of coma and starts seeing friends of his who
are now dead. Then an authoritarian sounding voice says, I accuse you of a wasted life. It is on this
subject that I write this particular essay.
Many of us of heard of Abraham Maslow s Pyramid of Human Needs. We know a little about the

Self Actualization
Self actualization refers to becoming as much as we can in the practical pragmatic scheme of affairs. It
refers to developing our talents, our skills, in educating ourselves to the best of our ability, being the

The World Wide Web has made our lives a ton more helpful. We utilize the web to speak verbally and
outwardly with our loved ones in far away locales, book flights, watch films, finish long distance
online educational projects and even to search out potential future life partners. There are numerous
different parts of our day by day lives where we utilize the web.
Electronic commerce (e commerce) has been defined in different ways by different researchers.
Schneider and Perry (2000), characterize e trade as business actions directed using electronic
information transmission by means of the web and World Wide Web. As per Turban, King, Lee,
Warkentin and Chung (2002), Electronic business is a procedure of purchasing and offering items,
administrations and data utilizing PC systems and the web. Gibbs, Kraemer Dedrick (2003)
characterize e commerce as the utilization of the web to purchase, offer, or bolster items and
administrations. In this study, e trade involves the utilization of the web for purchasing and offering
items or administrations.
Electronic trade and actions identified with it that are directed over the web can be a source that
enhance domestic financial prosperity through liberalization of household administrations, quick
globalization of creation, and advancement of accessible innovation. The reconciliation of domestic

Bad Relationships In Someone Like You
Causes of Bad Relationship
A bad relationship may develop without your notice. In the film Someone Like You , the most obvious
example is the relationship between Ray and Jane. The breakdown is not a sudden effect, but a gradual
development.
It all starts with the imbalance of giving. According to Cher Carter Scott, dangers arises when one
person gives too little in a relationship. In the movie, Jane invests everything, including her heart,
body (sex) and future life (cohabitation). However, Ray is the opposite. All he can give is the short
term excitement and passion. As Robert Solomon suggested, their desire mismatch leads to
coordination problem.
Their love at first sight relationship also lacks a strong foundation to overcome challenges. Applying
Robert Sternberg s triangular theory of love, Ray and Jane s form of love is Romantic Love (intimacy
+ passion). In their first meeting, they feel attracted to one another. Eventually intimacy grows and
they start dating. The process is filled with passion. However, Ray is not ready for commitment. He
never has a clear cut with Diane. Jane feels unsafe and uncertain as the triangular relationship
continues. The bond between Ray and Jane gets weaker day by day, such that any quarrels can break it
easily.
The key to further worsen the relationship is poor communication. Taking the case of cohabitation ...

The actual definition of Employer of Choice (EOC) is debatable from web site to web site and opinion
based. The Herman Group awards a certificate to employers titled the Employer of Choice Award
when they are recognized for their leadership, culture and best practices that attract, optimize and hold
top talent, achieving corporate objectives(Home, n.d.). An employer obtains this recognition by going
through an application process that screens the company s employees. The Herman Group describes
the award as people will want to work for you and will consciously stay with you even if they are
being recruited from other agencies for more money or compensation. Many EOC companies have
similar appeals where they attract and retain the best talent, but one employee s EOC many not be the
same as another s (Healthfield, 2015) . According to the book, Human Resource Management,
employees have different life choices and occupation paths at different stages of their career, (Lussier
Hendon, 2016). Which means the definitions of employer of choice is different from person to person
and at different stages of their lives. To a potential employee, a company that satisfies the criteria for
pay, benefits, work hours and vacation time but does not have a healthy culture, growth opportunity or
rewards system that fits the person s life style and personality may not rank high as an EOC. On the
other hand, a company that pays less and does not have a fantastic benefits plan but fits

Tablo And Joey Badass Hood Music Analysis
The climb to the top is sometimes more rewarding than the prizes at the top. The song Hood was
created in 2015 by Tablo and Joey Badass. Tablo and Joey Badass are from opposite sides of the world
and they also rap from opposite point of views. Tablo uses the narrative techniques to reference the
Korean philosophy Han in order to give the audience an idea of what motivates his character to keep
working hard. Badass uses narrative techniques when speaking about money because money equates
to success for many people and he wants to eliminate the idea that money destroys all evil. The tempo
at which each of the rappers raps symbolizes the positivity and the negativity of their respective topics
and the mood in which their character are in. The song highly motivates it listeners to reach their
greatest potential but also reminds them the journey to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to find a common ground, Tablo and Joey Badass use the bridge and the hook. In the bridge,
the two cultures come together when Badass and Tablo go back and forth with their lines as if you are
watching both perspectives at once. Tablo s Korean lines about the hardships and the struggle he is
facing as he tries to become successful in lines 58 and 60 compliment Joey Badass s repeating Good
lord help me because even though Joey Badass s character is speaking about his own life and how
fame is not that great, his lines are still relatable to Tablo s character considering all Tablo s character
wants is to be successful. Within the hook, Joey Badass calls out the lower class and his haters in the
line Middle fingers to you lames, you broke ass niggas you can t relate which can be interpret as a shot
towards Tablo s naïve character. It generates a conflicting mood of Tablo s character working
diligently but having no idea about how the circumstances change when he reaches Joey Badass s
character s level of

will have to leave again for another court case. So he goes to New York and enlists the help of local
lawyer Samuel Friedman. Marshall needed a co counselor based in Connecticut to help him argue the
case, someone more familiar with the laws and politics particular to the state. Sam s response wasn t
to welcoming. He felt like this was a case that could possible ruin his career. He wanted nothing to do
with it. After a few movie minutes we go to see the man accused of rape. It s an African American
male named Joseph Spell. Spell is accused of raping his former boss Eleanor Strubing. Mrs.Strubing
had come home from dinner with friends. She was fresh from the shower and wearing only a robe
when Spell knocked on her bedroom door and asked if he could borrow some money. She claims Spell

Group Identity
The creation of a group identity means far more than placing a label on a number of people with a
universe for those who are members of the group and for non members who affirm and recognize the
group s existence. At the individual level identity is an answer to the question who am I in relation to
other people? At the social level it is a response to the question: Who are we in relation to other
human groups? (Mach 1993:4). Those who are in a group together are identified as being closer to the
self of one another while those outside the group are distanced from the self and become other. In
most cases, this self/other divide is minimal and the opposition of us and them is little more than
categories for us and not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps we can see the following five possibilities: (1) Narratives of national identity can be
approached by seeing them as a special case of the group defining story. (2) Group defining stories
can be highly patterned, having a distinctive genre and plot structure, with all group members able to
tell their group s story in much the same way. (3) Narratives of national identity are a special case of
the group defining story by virtue of their particular exteriority and constraint, which is derivative
from the police power of nations. (4) Just as group membership confers meaning on individual lives,
group defining stories have an effect on stories of the self that is, on the individual autobiographies of
group members. When members are strongly identified with a group, member s autobiographies may
be expressed with the same narrative form that the group story has. (5) The patterns of group defining
narratives, genres among them, are not found in stories alone, but also become part of the cognitive
equipment of the members. The way they function in cognition is as interpretive frameworks that tell
what meaning can be attached to events. In general, group defining narratives facilitate interpretation,
or allow particular events to be given a meaning, by supplying a particular shared context within and
with which they take on a determinate meaning.

Beauty And Truth In Emily Dickinson s X. Died For Beauty
A plethora deem the necessity to be remembered for something after death and that one will be forever
remembered. Some people donate their entire lives to a cause or charity, but in the end is it really
worth it? X. Died for Beauty by Emily Dickinson, represents that what one lives for and eventually
died because is not preeminent in the end. Spending one s entire life solely on one thing will
eventually be the end of ourselves. Beauty and truth are scarce , but are brethren . Finding a person is
truly beautiful inside and outside is as rare finding out the truth. Beauty and truth are related to the fact
that one should be true to themselves. The moss had reached our lips and cover[ed] our names . The

The Dangers Of Cosmetic Surgery
The Dangers of Cosmetic Surgery Have you ever thought about getting Cosmetic Surgery? The real
question is, is it okay to get this kind of surgery? When do you know what the limit is, when do you
stop, when is it okay or not okay? Well, cosmetic surgery is an operation that enhances or alters a part
of your body or face that you want changed. If you are considering undergoing an operation, make
sure you are aware of what s involved before proceeding. With more than 55 million cosmetic

I watched [Keeping Up] and realized I had the same amount of siblings and that we have the same
kind of arguments and things going on. I thought she was so beautiful and I really wanted to be like
her. (DiVirgilio). Kylie and Kendall Jenner are the face of youth, with fashion, makeup and even cars,
they are inspiration to teens everywhere. When you re being followed by paparazzi all the time, there s
no time to look bad. That s where dermatologist Christie Kidd comes into hand. She teaches the girls
how to take care of their skin, what products to use, and when to use them. Who doesn t want clear,
glowing skin? With these products they use costing hundreds of dollars, not everyone who wants them
can afford them. Although some people find pills and lotions worked on there skin, some don t and
have to result in getting chemical peels, laser treatment for red scars or personalized topical
medications. Too many times we think what other people think or say about us is all that matters,
when in reality it doesn t. When people see their celebrity idols looks changing they want to change it
to because they think they aren t good enough. People can go thousands of dollars into debt by getting
lip injections, breast enhancements or even butt implants, all because society makes it look like it s the

Cuba In The 16th Century
From the early 16th century to the mid 1900s, the nations of Europe scrambled to colonize the
untouched places of the world. Enamored by the promises of the Americas and the New World, the
European powers established settlements in unknown lands, transplanting their cultures and beliefs
with the hopes of securing precious resources and further expanding their empires. With colonization
often comes the displacement of a native people as well the utilization of slave populations to provide
manual labor and domestic servitude. The interaction between these groups, some native, most
implanted, effected new, uniquely blended cultures a process of transculturation. Cuba (colonized by
the Spanish in the early 16th century) became the birthplace ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

All the while, the African communities on the island, a majority congo with people of the Yoruba and
Dahomey cultures, managed to preserve large aspects of their cultures through calbidos, a word
meaning town council , permissible by the Spanish colonial authorities. These calbidos, each specific
to the a single ethnic group, behaved as mutual aid societies that supported the protection and
management of traditional culture, religion, history and music. Within the first generation of the slave
s presence in Cuba, conversation in their African languages had mostly died out, leaving music as the
primary vehicle for linguistic preservation (88). Song and music in the various languages worked to
reassemble the traditions of the transplanted people, perpetuating religious practices and allowing the
culture to survive through many generations. Centuries of their African culture intertwining with
Spanish customs gradually produced the unique traditions that came to popularity in the late

Igor Stravinsky
Igor Stravinsky (1882 1971) is one of the most prominent and well known composers of the twentieth
century. A Russian composer, pianist, and conductor, Stravinsky quickly rose to international fame
with his ballets, The Firebird (1910), Petrushka (1911), and Rite of Spring (1913). These ballets were
tonally and rhythmically complex, giving Stravinsky a reputation of pushing musical boundaries. A
master of stylistic diversity and having composed in a range of genres, Stravinsky s works can be
divided into three major periods: his Russian period (1907 1919), his Neoclassical period (1920 1954),
and his Serial period (1954 1968). His Neoclassical period was the longest of the three and the most
significant. Neoclassicism was a twentieth century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the title reveals, this 20 25 minute work is made up of of three movements: Mvt. I: Overture;
Allegro, Andante; Mvt. II: Interlude Andante; Interlude: L istesso tempo, and Mvt. III: Con moto.
Referred to as his war symphony by Stravinsky himself, this symphony was composed in response to
the Second World War. While it was composed during his neoclassical period, this work challenges the
norms of neoclassicism in ways that his other pieces composed during this era do not. This paper will
argue that Stravinsky s Symphony in Three Movements, while not one of his better known pieces, is
still a work that is representative of his life and style as a composer. Through in depth study of
historical and analytical sources, it will look at how this work is a mixture of material and styles from
Stravinsky s works as well as from works of other composers. We will explore Stravinsky s role in the
neoclassical period, and how this symphony follows the general rules of neoclassicism while also
involving more abstract and strange compositional ideas that are not neoclassical in nature. We will
look at the different life and world events that influenced this work, and how this work influenced his
later compositions, such as The Rake s Progress. Primary sources will be used to better understand
Stravinsky s thoughts and motivations for this

Jarrett Dysfunctional Analysis
At the beginning of the movie, it follows the 17 year old boy, coming home from a recent suicide
attempt. The films shows how the family deals with the reforming of a ordinary life in the face of
losing their oldest and Conrad s older brother Buck. Some of the reasons why the Jarrett was so
dysfunctional was because of masking, avoiding, labeling, and withdrawing . Some strategies to help
the jarrett family would be creating a safe space. The Jarretts are presented as three
guarded, individuals. There is a little amount interaction among them. Calvin Jarrett, the father, is
shown struggling to express his own emotions and the desire to return to a life of normalcy. His
awkwardness gives him substance and sensitivity, and he gains our sympathy.

The Marginal Tax Rate ( Irc Section 351
Elizabeth would recognize the gains received by the corporation and would be taxed at their marginal
tax rate (IRC Section 351, n.d.).
Recommendation
Maria and Jason, along with Robert and Elizabeth, must focus first on the initial setup of the
organizational structure and the tax consequences on the corporation and individually before
addressing the other factors of the organization, which are simple and easily addressed by discussing
individual and group objectives. The first point to address is the IRC Section 351 limitation of 80%
control of the corporation. Maria nor Jason are interested in decreases their control of the corporation
and the best approach is for Robert and Elizabeth to contribute their proposed transactions and being
taxed of on the gains at their marginal tax rate. Otherwise, it is best for Robert and Elizabeth to
reevaluate their proposed transactions in order minimize the tax consequences. The IRC Section 351
limitation only pertains to an even exchange of property, weather property or cash, for corporate stock
and 80% control of the corporation (IRC Section 351, n.d.).
The second factor concerning the corporation is confidentiality and data security. Conversations
concerning expansion or other contract details should be conducted during a lunch meeting at a
restaurant or Maria, Jason or Elizabeth home office until an agreement is reach on the best location for
a general office space. This will also provide a relaxed ambiance for the

  • 2. William Tecumseh Sherman Research Paper William Tecumseh Sherman was a great Union general fighting in the Civil War. His major feat during the war was his campaign through the South. He started in Chattanooga, Tennessee and ended in Savannah, Georgia. His March used psychological warfare to make southerners lose support for the Southern cause by bringing the war to their front doors. This showing of how cruel the war really was is said to have ended the war more quickly. It all started November 23, in Chattanooga, Tennessee during the Battle of Chattanooga. Following the Battle of Chickamauga in September of 1863, General Ulysses S. Grant focused on lifting the Confederate siege on Chattanooga. Him and General Sherman s army attacked the Confederate troops eventually winning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Humans Were Affected By Island Dwarfism ( Morwood ) Many people, before the discovery of Homo floresiensis, assumed Homo sapiens were the only living species of the genus homo since Homo erectus. The 2003 discovery of the hobbit in a limestone cave in Flores, Indonesia changed the way people today view much of the timeline of early human evolution. The island of Flores was assumed to have never been connected to any mainland, bringing to question how this species arrived on the island in the first place as well as what the island looked like at the time. There were several physical characteristics such as leg length and brain size that made the discovery of Homo floresiensis so special. The bones found were dated to 18,000 years ago, astoundingly recently (Brown). To this day, it is unclear how this species evolved to be so small. Scientists had developed several different theories but have frequently come to the conclusion that these humans were affected by island dwarfism (Morwood). The environment in which Homo floresiensis lived, their physical structure and the recency of their existence holds many mysteries around why they were so small and what impact the above factors had on the hobbit s overall size. The discovery of Homo floresiensis occurred of the coast of Indonesia on one of the Wallecean Islands called Flores. The dig site which Homo floresiensis was discovered is called Liang Bua or cool cave . Father Theodore Verhoeven was the first to report and publish that stone tools were found in central Flores at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Is The Theme Of The Crying Of Lot 49 The Crying of Lot 49 is a 1966 novella written by Thomas Pynchon amidst the spike in social and political turbulence in the United States of America. The 1960s saw the rise of drug culture, the Vietnam War, John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King s assassination, the massive rise of the Civil Rights fight and many other milestone events. Pynchon s novella carries the perceptive sense of chaos, quite possibly influenced by two things: one, the decade that he was living and writing in and two, that this was one of his earliest novels. The text explores the consequences of decisions, illusions and conspiracies all taken on by the protagonist Oedipa Maas. One of the main themes of the short piece is communication. This is explored greatly in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Crying of Lot 49 lives up to it s satirical nature in mocking Fallopian and later many other radicals to signify the extremist nature of real life character s facades in the 1960s. By making such a political statement, Pynchon could be making a reference to the 1964 elections in which the Democrats snatched all the votes from Congress from right up under them. Chapter 3 is also very important as it serves as our first introduction to the evasive Tristero . Oedipa goes in to watch the production of The Courier s Tragedy thinking of bones, hears the word Tristero , and comes out thinking only of the word. She herself later realizes this. It is possible that the bones could have been another red herring to throw us off the plot. This novella seems to be entirely made up of red ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Theology Of Thomas Aquinas Thomas Aquinas was a one of the few philosophers to interpret the theology as a whole distinguishing the difference between theology and philosophy by explaining Law in general in a detailed account and focusing on kinds of law which he classified as Eternal, Human, Divine and Natural law. Aquinas suggests in order for law to be understood some reasoning has to be provided which is why as a philosopher what he explained could not provoke Christian beliefs, but establish a relationship between theory and religion. As a philosopher he understands and describes law as being influenced by certain actions that man chooses to act upon or refrain from, which is entirely up to us or as he may put it, an ordered rule . Because of this assumption ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For these laws to be effective and understood he explains the essence of law breaking it down into three important aspects; Reason a superior order, Common Good some sort of satisfaction through law (not suggesting he doesn t care) and One who has care in the sense that in the community trust is put into the hands of someone of higher authority who has common good as their main objective. Eternal Law is considered a law by Aquinas in the sense that since God being the creator of the universe, every command will be passed as God understands it and will stand in its eternal form becoming eternal law. Thomas has portrayed art of eternal law being community ruled through divine reasoning provided by God meaning his reasoning must have a proper and perfect order making it eternal. Since Thomas has used an organizational structure as I explained previously, Divine Law being based on revelation and extracted from Eternal Law, we learn how the bible has worked in correspondence with Divine law mainly because of how it is split into Old and New Law similar to the Old Testament and New Testament in the bible. To my understanding Aquinas bases his facts about the Old law on the Ten Commandments with an assumption that humans are driven by the fear and the rewards expected to be benefited from obeying the Law whereas the New ... It is a concept often discussed as being an inevitable part of human life, something people has experienced numerous of times, and will continue to experience throughout their lives. Change comes in many forms and has a range of effects, which are either negative or positive on those who experience it and respond to it. Change, particularly in relation to the topic ¡°Changing perspective creates awakening¡±, is a view that is repeatedly explored and been written in poem/film by thousands of composers. The poem ¡°Drifters¡± written by Bruce Dawe in 1968 conveys the concept of change through language techniques used throughout the text. Dawe uses descriptive language throughout Drifters, providing the reader with a clearer understanding of the idea of change and how it affects the characters in the text. The quote ¡°the kids will yell ¡®Truly?¡¯ and get wildly excited for no reason¡± provides the reader with a understanding the attitude the children¡¯s mother possesses, when children gets excited for no reason, it shows that they do not yet realize that through change they are leaving something behind and do not yet understand what is really happening in their lives. • 8. Class, Money, Pride and Happiness in Pride and Prejudice,... Happiness can be defined in a plethora of ways such as good fortune, a state of well being, or a pleasurable, satisfying experience. William Thackeray s Rebecca Sharp stated in the novel Vanity Fair that she could be a good woman if she had five thousand pounds and she could dawdle about in the nursery and count the apricots on the wall (VF 414). Marianne Dashwood of Jane Austen s Sense and Sensibility says that she cannot be happy with a man whose taste did not in every point coincide with my own (SS 15). Most importantly, Elizabeth Bennet of Austen s Pride and Prejudice states that she would be happy with someone who has no improper pride and is perfectly amiable (PP 364). While all of these novels give a glimpse into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Right from the beginning we understand that Mrs. Bennet s motive is to marry off her 5 daughters(Elizabeth, Jane, Mary, Catherine, and Lydia) to eligible suitors, particularly Mr. Bingley. Mr. Bennet, being a mixture of quick parts (7), is impartial to this and would rather not visit Mr. Bingley as Mrs. Bennet alludes that it is customary for the father to visit any potential suitor before the mother does. With this argument, we see that Mrs. Bennet s happiness is directly linked to the well being of her daughters. We also see that Mr. and Mrs. Bennet s views of what s right for their daughters are very different from each other with Mrs. Bennet doing whatever it takes to ensure the happiness of her daughters while Mr. Bennet is not so proactive in this endeavor. As the main protagonist of Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet s views on happiness are very much so connected to her sense of pride. Mary Bennet, one of the younger Bennet sisters, states that A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves (PP 21). Throughout the novel we see that Elizabeth sees herself as a headstrong and sensible woman; one who would never fall to the fallible feelings caused by love and society. She is much like another of Austen s protagonists, Elinor Dashwood of Sense and Sensibility, who states at one point during the novel, Sometimes one is guided by what they ... • 9. The Origins Of Attachment Theory The origins of Attachment theory can be traced to the influential work of John Bowlby (1958). Bowlby s work as a psychiatrist in a Child Guidance Clinic in London caused him to consider the significance of the child s relationship with their mother in terms of their cognitive, emotional and social development. Specifically, it contributed to enthralling his interests surrounding the link between early infant separations with the mother and later maladjustment, leading Bowlby to formulate the Theory of Attachment. Bowlby argues that this attachment between the mother and child is different in a qualitative form from any other form attachment. This theory, although seminal, holds many criticisms from others, stating that children learn more from their peers rather than from their parents (Harris, 1998). A separate criticism is that of Field s (1996), who evaluates the many limitations of the Attachment Theory. A primary critic of Bowlby s attachment theory is J. R. Harris. The general public assume that good natured, sincere, and humble parents will raise children bearing similar traits whilst parents that are ill tempered, indecent, and cruel will similarly raise children of an identical nature (Ainsworth, 1969). According to Harris, this may not be the whole truth. Harris (1998) believes that a child s peers to have greater influence over their personality and character rather than their parents. An example of this would be children whose parents suffer from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Death Of Roe V. Wade Chapter One Before Roe v. Wade, women lived in consistent angst and fear of their own bodies, the consequences that were brought by unwanted pregnancies, and the very dangerous back alley abortions. Preceding 1973, unwed women who got pregnant were fired from their employments. The younger women were sent to maternity homes for mothers who were unwed, and their children were put up for adoption (Gielow). Pregnant women who were married had no choice but to continue to carry their pregnancies to term, nevermind their situations and circumstances. They were forced to carry the unborn child if even if they had many other children to care for and couldn t possibly afford caring for another child. The women were forced to continue carrying their pregnancies, even if they had cancer, or the fetuses couldn t survive outside the mother s womb (Gielow). Roe v. Wade was a dark time. Women were desperate to find an abortion. The methods that were used were both dangerous, and many times, not effective. Desperate women were driven into the back alley, where they endured danger and abuse, sometimes sexual. The They jabbed into their uteruses with knitting needles and coat hangers. Geological Structure And Lithology Of Platforms Rocks Geological structure and lithology of platforms rocks are considered as crucial importance in determining both the process of formation and development of shore platforms (Edwards 1941; Trenhaile 1987; Sunamura 1992; Kennedy 2010; Dickson et al 2004; Naylor and Stephenson 2010; Thornton and Stephenson 2006). Trenhaile (1987) defined three areas that geology will be affectively controlled the process of formation and development of shore platforms: 1) erosion process; 2) platform profiles; and 3) degree of inheritance of shore platforms. Rock lithology, structure and mineralogy could be determined the erosion processed operated upon the shore platforms. Rocks that is thinly bedded and well jointed will be eroded dominantly be wave quarrying. Rocks that absorb large quantity of water are probably more susceptible to erode by chemical solution. Accumulated debris size at the cliff foot is determined geological factors which in turn determine the amount of erosion rate of cliff. Rock dip affects the surface morphology shape. Washboard relief develops in steeply dipping, thinly bedded strata. Smooth surface of platforms occurs when dip is shallow or horizontal. Rocks strength is controlled either platforms are completely or partially inheritance from previous sea level rising. If the platforms developed in softer rocks sediments will be probably completely eroded by rising sea level but if the rocks is harder it may be inherent by past sea level. Edwards (1941) is the ... The students will be able to identify three dimensional shapes, and tell if they stack, slide, or roll. Before anything was edited from my video it was 1hour long. I edited out the second group/center doing the same thing I did with the group that is in my video. Starting out I was really nervous about being in kindergarten, because I have mainly been in the upper grades during clinical and my first experience of student teaching. There was a lot I learned from first experience in different areas where I needed to grow as a future teacher. I took all of the comments from my mentor teacher and university supervisor, and applied them to this second experience so I could improve and find other areas I need to strengthen. As I was videoing this lesson I found myself so focused on the group that I was videoing, that some of the other groups were getting a little loud. One thing I need to work on is to not let videoing keep me from correcting other students when they need reminded to stay on task. This is something new that I felt like I struggled with this second video, because in kindergarten they do centers. When I was in my first experience it was just I teaching whole group to third graders, and they knew the expectations from their teacher and myself. • 16. Latin American Immigration And The Growth Of The Latino... Critical Response Latin American immigration to the United States and the growth of the latino and hispanic population is currently one of the most controversial topics being debated right now. What started as a small, regionally concentrated population of fewer 6 million in 1960, is now broadly scattered population of more than 50 million. Latino population keeps growing and exerting enormous impact on social, cultural, political, and economic aspects in the U.S. However, unlike what a lot of people think, Latino immigration to the United states is more than a population s aspirations to the american dream, it has been influenced by multiple factors such as national, regional, and global developments, the history of the U.S. military and its foreign policy in the Western Hemisphere, the controversial history of international border enforcement. When latino immigrants get to the United States, they make it their nation. However, their nation often fails to protect them and their interests, as well as embrace them. In this essay, I will explore in detail the various factors that drove the Latino community to immigrate to the U.S., and how the role of the U.S. as their nation shapes their experience. Latino migration to the United States has been largely influenced by the economic and political unrest Latin American countries have experienced and still experience. But bridge and tunnel systems do offer some alternatives to the mitigation practices of today. Not entirely eliminating the need to mitigate for the effects of the transportation systems, but hopefully allowing the system to pass through the habitat not completely inhibiting the integrity or the function of the ecosystem. Bridges Bridges introduce many interesting options for elevating a roadway above sensitive habitat. Bridges seemingly are best adapted for sensitive aquatic habitats. For example, in place of filling a wetland in order to construct a road through it, a cable stayed bridge would seemingly accomplish the same job eliminating the need for the filling of the wetland and providing an alternative with less environmental impacts. It occurs when McQueen, playing Papillon, is in solitary confinement and is obviously on the point of dying. He goes into a sort of coma and starts seeing friends of his who are now dead. The Herman Group awards a certificate to employers titled the Employer of Choice Award when they are recognized for their leadership, culture and best practices that attract, optimize and hold top talent, achieving corporate objectives(Home, n.d.). An employer obtains this recognition by going through an application process that screens the company s employees. A Russian composer, pianist, and conductor, Stravinsky quickly rose to international fame with his ballets, The Firebird (1910), Petrushka (1911), and Rite of Spring (1913). These ballets were tonally and rhythmically complex, giving Stravinsky a reputation of pushing musical boundaries. A master of stylistic diversity and having composed in a range of genres, Stravinsky s works can be divided into three major periods: his Russian period (1907 1919), his Neoclassical period (1920 1954), and his Serial period (1954 1968). Referred to as his war symphony by Stravinsky himself, this symphony was composed in response to the Second World War. While it was composed during his neoclassical period, this work challenges the norms of neoclassicism in ways that his other pieces composed during this era do not. This paper will argue that Stravinsky s Symphony in Three Movements, while not one of his better known pieces, is still a work that is representative of his life and style as a composer. Through in depth study of historical and analytical sources, it will look at how this work is a mixture of material and styles from Stravinsky s works as well as from works of other composers. We will explore Stravinsky s role in the neoclassical period, and how this symphony follows the general rules of neoclassicism while also involving more abstract and strange compositional ideas that are not neoclassical in nature. We will look at the different life and world events that influenced this work, and how this work influenced his later compositions, such as The Rake s Progress. Primary sources will be used to better understand Stravinsky s thoughts and motivations for this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
