The Newest Powered Commercial By Coca Cola Co.
Every professional athlete has his own story which made him as we see him now. Some Journeys were
more difficult than others. However, the common keywords between all of them are the hard work and
determination. Coca Cola Co. s PowerAde started its campaign Just a kid in the beginning of last year.
PowerAde has used inspirational stories of professional athlete, who used to have a very hard start and
they made their path into fame and success, to deliver a message to everyone that no one has chosen
his start but we all can decide our termination. The newest powered commercial tells the story of
Seattle Seahawk football player Jimmy Graham, who had a very tough upbringing in a group house in
North Carolina to a superstar in the NFL. This paper is going to analyze that commercial and dive
inside it to get deep meaning and catch the subtle message beyond its scenes. One of the meanings of
this commercial is demonstrating the notion of the American dream. The mythical believe that anyone
can start from the bottom and by continuing hard work, he can achieve his goal and attain wealth and
possible fame. This meaning has been shown at the beginning of the commercial when it is opened on
Jimmy Graham as a boy enters the Goldsboro community orphanage in North Carolina where he has
been beaten up and bullied by other older boys. While that happens, the narrator was telling the story
of a mouse who fell in a bucket of cream. He tried to survive, but because the cream was thick he

Examples Of Academic Integrity
Academic integrity is very important in terms of an individual completing his or her work. In other
words, the individual should be completely honest and do their best to complete their work without
plagiarism or finding an easy way to get the job done. It is considered unethical to do something that
prevents an individual from being honest about their work. For example, John is worried about getting
a D in his Spanish class if he does not do well on his midterm. His GPA will also be affected if he gets
a D. On the day of his midterm, Jane, a student in John s Spanish class, sits by him. She notices that he
is looking at papers in his backpack secretively and assumes he is cheating. However, Jane does not
know what to do due to the fact that John helped her on a project the previous semester. If Jane were
to ask me how I would handle the situation, I would recommend that she report John because he it s
unfair that he is cheating during a test and he is not making an effort to complete his work to the best
of his abilities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yes, work and family can interfere sometimes while one is college. However, one must be able to
balance their time in an appropriate matter so that he or she is able to have time planned out to study.
He believes that doing this one time will help him out. But, there is a possibility that if he were to pass
the midterm with an A, that he would take the same precaution to cheat for prospective midterms.
There is no reason for him to look off of his papers during his midterm when other students are not
allowed to as well. It is not fait to Jane, John s classmates, or the instructor. They could have put in so
much work to study for the midterm to make an A while John decided to find an easy way

Immune System Evolution
1.The topic being addressed in this article is the high improbability that our immune systems have
evolved over time. All multicellular organisms have extremely complex immune systems. None of
which are the same from one specie to the next. Even though these immune systems are different they
all are remarkably efficient in dealing with pathogens.
2. Antibodies are Y shaped gamma globulin proteins found in the blood or lymph tissue. They are
made by B cells as an immune defense against foreign antigens. Each antibody binds to a specific
antigen. A Genome is a set of DNA. An Antigen is a foreign molecule which triggers the production of
antibodies by the immune system. Every human has an Adaptive Immune System and an Innate
Immune system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author argues that the complex processes used to produce antibody diversity and then create
adaptive immune responses are not evidence of evolution but rather of intelligent design.
Immune system diversity and evolution can be refuted by the fact that even in the primitive jawed
vertebrates the immune system is very similar to that system used in advanced mammals.
7. I think the author makes a valid point because of the vast differences in immune systems from
animal to animal proves that that are immune systems have not evolved over the years. The author
also points out that many unique and dynamic immune mechanism exist among many different types
of vertebrates. Recent research further proves his argument by showing that innate immune systems
formerly thought to be very primitive are far more complex than once believed.
8. I agree with the author that it is impossible our immune system have evolved from other mammals.
If they had we would more than likely have the same structure as other mammals, but as evidenced in
the article we do not. We do however share similar functions such as an immune system protein that
helps us defend against bacteria. This immune protein is also found in sea urchins. This sea urchin s
protein is described as hardier then ours but still has the same basic functioning system further proving
that when God created us, he may not have had the same design but operated in a way that kept things

Cash Flow Analysis For Your Real Estate Career
As you start gathering momentum in your real estate career, you will begin to notice a steady pattern
of cash going in and out of your pocket. This is considered cash flow in the most simplest form. Cash
flow analysis can be as simple or advanced as your needs determine. The investor who has dozens of
property will likely have a much more advanced and complicated cash flow analysis than the investor
who has their first piece of property. What this means for you, is there is no reason to start doing
advanced and complicated analysis. This gives you the ability to start small and simple and work your
way slowly towards the more advanced details that become required later on. This will help make sure
you make good decisions because you are able to learn slowly and steadily what parts of the cash flow
to focus on to maximize profits. Your cash flow analysis should at the very least tell you how much
profit you can make as well as how much it will cost for you to make that profit. The cash flow will
analyze all money that is spent on each property, as well as all sources of income that the property
presents to show hopefully if you selected a good piece of property a positive cash flow. A cash flow
analysis has four basic areas to it to determine profit. The first area is gross income, followed by
expenses, with debt service and cash flow following behind. The first section is gross income; it is
within that section that you will figure out your effective gross income. First,

America And The War On Terrorism
America and the War on Terrorism The War on Terror began from the attacks on the World Trade
Center in New York City, New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and in Pennsylvania on
September 11, 2001 (9/11). The current president at the time was newly elected President George W.
Bush in which he gave a speech announcing the infamous War on Terror . This an on going war and its
effects are being felt today. Before knowing what the Global War on Terror looks like, it is necessary
to define the term terrorism. Terrorism, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in this case
international terrorism, is defined as the following: acts that are dangerous to human life, are
intentional in order for the government or the people to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated by President Bush, while addressing the nation post 9/11, he explained that the, enemies of
freedom committed an act of war against our country , that this was not simply an act of aggression
rather an act of war, and so the war on terror became a reality. He later proceeds by explaining that the
War on Terror will not be waged against a country but instead it will be waged against the individual
groups regardless of their location; the United States respects the people of Afghanistan...but we
condemn the Taliban regime ( Bush Addresses the Nation). Our war on terror begins with al Qaeda,
but it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found,
stopped, and defeated , and so the war began (Bush Addresses the Nation).
The United States of America currently has a list of known, and recognized, terrorist groups, however,
the War on Terror is primarily dealing with the known terrorist groups in the Middle East where al
Qaeda is located (Foreign Terrorist Organizations). Conducting war against terrorist groups is quite
quarrelsome as they do not wear standard uniform and often dress in regular civilian clothing because
they are not affiliated with their nation s armed forces. This is what makes fighting the terrorist groups
difficult and why it has lasted for more than 14 years. Another reason fighting these groups is difficult
is because the Taliban who harbored al Qaeda were

Essay about Cubism
Pablo Picasso
Pablo Picassso was probably the most famous artist of the twentieth century. During his artistic career
he created a large body of work that consisted of sculptures, prints and ceramics, while experimenting
with several different materials. Today Picasso is known as one the forefathers of the artistic
movement known as Cubism.
Pablo Picasso was born on October twenty fifth 1881, in Malaga, Spain, to Jose Ruiz and Maria
Picasso. Rather than adopt the common name of his father, Picasso took the more unique last name of
his mother as his own. quot;An artistic prodigy, Picasso at the age of fourteen, completed the one
month qualifying examination of the Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona in one day. quot; as stated by

This change in Picasso s work became known as his quot; Rose Period quot; as stated by ( ).
Picasso went on to meet George Braque, whom is also regarded as one of the forefathers of the Cubist
movement. During this period in his artistic career, Picasso created the portrait of Manuel Pallares.
To create this work of art Picasso chose to use oil as his medium of choice. What is so fascinating
about the painting is his application of the medium. Picasso uses the brush and or palette knife to
create a cross hatch effect throughout the painting. Picasso chose to use neutral tones to describe the
mood of the painting. The figure of Manuel Pallares is shown in a three quarters view within the
composition. The deliberate positioning of the figure leads the viewer to believe that Manuel was not
someone of importance. His wardrobe also lets the viewer know that he is an average person.
Picasso s treatment of the details is very representational of the Cubist style. Sharp lines and a vast
array of contrasting shapes and colors emphasize the creases of the suit jacket. This same attention to
detail is present in the mustache and the background as well.
On the other hand, Picasso s treatment of the Manuel s face is quite different. Picasso uses softer
shapes to fine the attitude of Manuel. The blandness of the face leads one to assume that Manuel was a
man of peace in a world of chaos. The background also suggests that he is a man that is completely
involved with his

Evaluation Of Evaluating Distributed Goods After...
Introduction The project of evaluating distributed goods after manufacturing them to start with, and
continuing forward to distribution shall illuminate this picture. In order to gain a general grasp of the
involvement concerning the process, a suggested viewing about the Story of Stuff (storyofstuffproject,
2009) at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GorqroigqM is quite helpful in understanding. Although
there are so many factors from one point to another, the primary focus directed toward the main
concept of this process moves us along. Manufacturing to Distribution of Goods You have to create

The amount of consumption required to satisfy and pacify the consumers continues to build this until
reaching exponential growth of instability making life unsustainable based on overgrown population
extremes. The need for workers to produce those goods that is the consumer purchasing what is
products made available to them. When you choke or starve the workers to the point of not having
enough to consume, business eventually tumbles in financial distress over loss of demand for what
they provide or made available. The endless cycle of greed has caused the popularity cycle of unions
for workers to insure there is reasonable living standards applied. This generally works until the
unions emerge corrupted from anyone full of greed in positions of power. Benefit or Harm from
Unions The perspective that Unions play a pivotal role both in securing legislated labor protections
and rights such as safety and health, overtime, and family/medical leave and in enforcing those rights
on the job (Walters, M., Mishel, L. 2003, para. 2). They provide for the debate playing field to open up
within the governing body relationship to the people. Without them, people are bound to follow along
in systems they hope might benefit or help them along the work of trying to provide and survive.

Hispanic And Hispanic Ethnic Groups
When looking at the Hispanic/Latino ethnic groups some may think they are all from the same country
because of their culture, and the fact that many speak Spanish. However, this is not the case, and when
looking at the unique features associated with each ethnic group, it is easy to see the differences
between them. All of the Latino/Hispanic ethnic groups have differences and this can even be heard in
the dialect used to speak Spanish, such as the case when listening to Puerto Ricans and Mexicans
speaking Spanish. In an effort to have a better understanding of elder Mexicans, this paper will look at
the Mexican sub culture, and the features associated with the family dynamics, gender roles,
acculturation patters, as well as religious contemporary issues such as taking care of an elder family
member. We will examine ways to engage, assess, discuss ways of intervention, and review ways to
ensure that effective evaluations are completed.
Demographics
With Hispanics quickly becoming the largest growing population in the United States, it is easy to see
why there is a need for social workers to understand the needs of this population. In fact, focusing on
this population as a whole is a relatively new concentration in regards to social work, so understanding
the elder population is even more unknown. Similar to their Caucasian and African American peers,
Mexican elders have a number of factors that are unique to their culture, and must be understood when

Should America Use The Metric System Essay
The metric system is used across the world, all except for the United States of America and two other
countries. The United States of America currently uses the Imperial system instead of the metric
system despite the rest of the world using it. Why would The United States of America not use the
metric system even though there are so many benefits to it? Switching to metric can mean more
business opportunities for America from other countries. The metric system can be the link for fashion
designers to have more opportunities in other countries, or scientists as well. Because of the loss of
jobs due to not using the metric system in America, the country won t advance. The biggest argument
against changing is the people, a strong source that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The organization NASA made this mistake due to using Pounds instead of Kilograms. Another fact
that PBS states is the ease in trading in internationally; nevertheless it eliminates duplication in
manufacturing and labeling. Even when it comes to international relations, if America switches to the
metric system the world will have a better view of America. A logical fact that was outlined by Daniel
Pink is division by ten and one hundred instead of eight by twelve. What he means by that, is the use
of teaspoons and milliliters. The usefulness of changing from the imperial system to the metric system
is the difference of switching to the simplest of words and simple measurements. Celsius is a
measurement that people find too much effort to change to. Yet, the change is as easy as getting used
to Fahrenheit. Another source that is all about making America switch to the metric system is
gometricusa.org. They outline the benefits such as cutting manufacturing costs and like Daniel Pink,
the ease of trading in International trade. However, the website actually lists the reason why it s easier
and how it cuts costs. It outlines the preferred metric sizes in international industry and the limits. Due

Worm Hole Attack Essay
Figure 3: Worm hole attack
E. Motivation and Problem Formulation
Application of game theoretic approach to individual nodes distributes the responsibility of security to
all the nodes in the network thus reducing the loop holes in the security. The Game Theory approach
explored in recent times addressing security issues in MANET focuses mostly on networks having
central administration involving only 2 players i.e. attacker and defender. We propose a novel game
theoretic approach with multiple players for security in MANETs.
In a distributed environment there is no central administration and hence each node has to defend
himself from the attacks. We propose a dynamic mean field game theoretic approach to enable an
individual node in MANETs to make strategic security defense decisions without centralized
administration. In the proposed mean field game theoretic approach, each node only needs to know its
own state information and the aggregate effect of the other nodes in the MANET[2], making nodes
self reliable against attacks. Enhancing Security in Mobile Ad Hoc Network.

The New Public Management Approach to Regulations
Laws, laws, laws, are something that America has strived to uphold over the years in order to be
successful. That will be the first subject of our questions today. I will give insight to whether NPM can
coincide in a regulatory environment where legal and political approaches are often controlling. In
order to answer this question, we must first look at what actually foster s the regulatory environment.
Since the origins of regulations here in America, I believe federal organizations have had the very best
intentions. During the industrial revolution, America was dramatically changed forever. From an
economical and technological standpoint, we would never interact the same way again. The text
illustrates a fantastic point about agriculture stating, We depend upon farmers and food handlers;
however, we do not personally know these individuals. (Rosenbloom) During the Industrial
Revolution, markets just became too unpredictable; therefore, the federal government decided to step
in to become that third party watch dog. Personally, it is only fair that a third party looks out for our
safety. Most of the time we think of federal regulation as product safety, however, it is much more
than that. Government regulations are involved in several different sectors, including: market failure,
environmental protection, employment regulation, administration of regulation, political patterns,
majoritarian politics, interest group politics, client politics, entrepreneurial politics, and

Gary Galles in his article, The Antifederalists Were Right demonstrates that in many aspects the Anti
federalists have not been referred to correctly, since federalism means a decentralized government. In
fact, the federalist should be more respectfully referred to as nationalists. Furthermore, in his article he
illustrates the ideas that the Anti federalists tha,t in theory, surpass the ideology of the Federalists.
While the Anti Federalists, who were in favor of strong state rights lost the debate a the constitutional

Stress is a common theme in my life. I have to admit that, for me, personally, it has become a chronic
condition. Recently, I have finally made the step of realizing that stress is the evil dictator ruling a
vicious cycle. A revolution is necessary:
Stress is something we have all experienced at some point in our lives. From a biological perspective,
stress is a phenomenon that occurs when we experience circumstances that disturb our physical and
mental equilibrium. These circumstances, which are referred to as stressors, include heavy workloads,
relationship problems, illnesses or upcoming, life changing events such as weddings, divorces or
childbirth. Stress is naturally occurring and can even be helpful in certain situations such as being
under pressure to finish an essay, but if stress is not relieved it becomes chronic. Chronic stress can
have negative effects on our physical and psychological condition, relationships, work or school
situation and other aspects of our social life.

Religion In The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman
Many people in today s world believe there is a higher power and practice a religion. Some exhibit
true religious behaviors of peace and kindness, whereas other individuals hurt innocent people,
claiming that they did it in the name of their deity. In The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman,
religion is a common theme. Jane practiced Christianity like much of the south, but she was genuine in
her religion. In an earlier part of the book when she and Ned are trying to get to Ohio, they came
across an ornery woman whom reluctantly served them water. She told them that if she wasn t a God
fearing Christian she d kill them because she hated them. Jane Pittman was more of a true Christian
than the ornery Christian woman because Jane worshiped God out of love, she was very accepting of
others, and she was able to bounce back from hard times.
Jane became a Christian during the later years of her life and she always felt that God was protecting
and watching over her. She believed He had sent Joe Louis and Jackie Robinson for the purpose of
showing the world that skin color doesn t matter. Jane was also a true Christian because she believed
the message that God stood for. The ornery Christian woman was God fearing because she wanted to
kill the freed slaves, but since the Ten Commandments state that killing is a sin and she didn t want to

Theme Of Angela s Ashes And The Street
Theme is the hidden morals within a piece of literature that the author is trying to get readers to
understand. In both Angela s Ashes and The Street, we can distinguish a similar theme. One similar
theme in both stories is struggling to get through life s complications. After reading the two different
excerpts, we can use character, events, and the setting to further our understanding.
In Angela s Ashes, the theme of struggling to get through life s obstacles is shown using character. In
paragraph 4, McCourt writes, You can look in people s windows and see how cozy it is in their
kitchens with fires glowing or ranges black and hot everything bright in the electric light cups and
saucers on the table with plates of sliced bread pounds of butter jars of jam smells of fried eggs... the
mother crisp and clean in her apron everyone washed and the Sacred Heart of Jesus looking down on
them from the wall suffering and sad but still happy with all that food and light and good Catholics at
their breakfast. This quote shows, that the protagonist has been peering into the houses of the rich and
realizes that the rich has everything they want and more. This theme shows that the main character is
jealous of the rich lifestyle because they have more struggles than the rich do. In addition, this theme
is also presented using events. In paragraph 5, In a second I have two bottles of lemonade up under my
jersey and i saunter away trying to look innocent, (McCourt). This quote is

Selfishness In The Necklace By Guy De Maupassant

In this story The Necklace By Guy de Maupassant shows how Maupassant has created a wonderful,

Scout s Journey

I learned this when I went on the historical trip to Gettysburg. Mr. Hives pulled me aside on the last
day and would not let me leave the table until I completed the requirements for first class. He knew I

The Age Of Manufacturing That Preceded The Romantic Movement
The age of manufacturing that preceded the Romantic Movement was characterized by
industrialization and scientific, professional thinking. The philosophy of the era teaches that thoughts
and assertions are only meaningful if they can be confirmed with evidence or valid reasoning. As a
result, any assertion about entities from the abstract or conceptual alike, whether a statement about
mermaids and unicorns or God and nature, is considered meaningless since they cannot be confirmed
by factual report. This all started changing when the future leaders of the enlightenment decided that
we should resort to more emotional thinking. Jean Jacques Rousseau, one of the leaders of the
enlightenment observed that science was transforming Europe into unemotional machines. He says,
Man was born free, but everywhere he is in chains...Let us return to nature. (Schaeffer 154) Rousseau
foresaw a threat to general freedom of thought, which thus sparked the Romantic Movement. Two
poets that romanced nature during this era were: William Wordsworth (1770 1850) and John Keats
(1795 1821). To Autumn by John Keats and Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey by
William Wordsworth are both comparable and representative of the Romantic Movement. They have
separate techniques and application, but are both recognized as significant works of Romanticism. The
themes in both poems emphasize nature, emotion, and the capacity for wonder and imagination, which
reiterate the sentiments of the era.

Ptolemaic Dynasty. As a successor of Hellenistic people and Alexander the Great she was not of an
Egyptian blood but born in Alexandria and speaking Egyptian language. When her father Ptolemy
Auletes died, Cleopatra was in the age of eighteen. She had three sisters Cleopatra VI, Berenice IV,
Arsinoe IV two of them were older than her and one younger, and two younger brothers named
Ptolemy XIII and Ptolemy XIV too. Cleopatra VII and her brother Ptolemy XIII inherited the kingdom
of their father as it was written his will. Because of the law in Egypt of that time Cleopatra was unable
to rule by her own without the presence of a male coruler, a brother or son. As a result she ruled
together with her brother who she get married to although he was only twelve years old.
At the time Cleopatra gained power the future of the Dynasty was in danger. Places like Cyprus, Coele
Syria, and Cyrenaica were not under her kingdom anymore, and in the remaining places there was
poverty and famine. But Cleopatra was an ambitious woman and wanted her kingdom to be a strong
and great empire. Between Pompey and Julius Caesar there was a conflict which leads to in a struggle.
Cleopatra supported him however he was defeated and after his defeat Caesar came in Egypt, in
Alexandria.

Rite Of Initiation In Araby By James Joyce
Rite of Initiation
Rite of initiation, sounds like something frightening, but in literature a rite or story of initiation does
not refer precisely to something of terror. The protagonist of Araby faces experiences for which his
previous experiences had not prepared him. In this case the main character enters a new stage of his
life (an evolutionary stage), from childhood to adolescence. For this reason, Araby, by James Joyce,
should be considered a story of initiation.
The protagonist, and at the same time the narrator of this story is a child that all the experiences he has
had are based on school and play with his friends. He lives in a small, quiet neighborhood, where day
to day life is monotonous. However, the protagonist loses interest in the games, since something else
catches his attention: the sister of his friend Mangan. This boy spends hours looking at this girl and
does not understand the sensations and feelings that she causes, feelings that come to his life for the
first time to make him discover love.
The protagonist has not lived before a similar situation since it is the first time that falls in love. This
first experience represents a discovery. This child does not understand the feelings discovered and the
state in which he is. (...) I myself did not understand (...) I thought little of the future. I did not know
whether I would ever speak to her or not or, if I spoke to her, how I could tell her of my confused
adoration (par. 5). The protagonist

Syri A Country Filled With Violence, Poverty, And Instability
Syria has always been a country filled with violence, poverty, and instability. From 1946, when it
gained its independence from France, there has always been turmoil and political unrest in the country.
The Ba ath Party s regime began formally in 1966, although similarly minded factions had control
since 1947, and it marked the first stable Syrian government. Syria s ruling political party is made up
of members of the Syrian Alawite population, a minority in a predominantly Sunni country. Up until
today, the Ba ath Party has maintained iron like control over Syria, with the Assad family leading the
party and the country since 1970. Hafez al Assad began his rule in 1970, and his son, current president
Bashar al Assad, took power after his death in 2000. When the younger Assad first came to power, the
West was ready for a more moderate Syria to be created, due to the fact that Assad had a western
education and at one point was studying to become an eye doctor in London, England. However,
western expectations were proved to be extremely wrong, as Assad has most definitely not created a
moderate Syria, and arguably he has even made the country more right wing. He established unilateral
control for himself and the Ba ath Party multiple times by declaring states of emergency in Syria, and
he has ruled with an even stronger grip than his father. Since the beginning of the Arab Spring, or
more accurately the Long Arab Winter, Bashar al Assad has only tightened his control, and he

Relational Theory
Relational theory is built on the assumption that there is an inherent tendency for people to maintain
relationships with others (Hutchinson, 2015). Relational theory is the integration of several
psychodynamic theories, such as object relations theory, self psychology, and interpersonal
psychoanalysis, into a larger perspective which acknowledges that the mind exist in relation to others
(Segal, 2013). This theory s origins in psychodynamic theory can be seen in key concepts such as the
assertion that human behavior is significantly impacted by past relational patterns (Segal, 2013).

My Neighbor Totoro Essay
Hayao Miyazaki has directed ten Studio Ghibli films, and many more outside the company. Most of
his films include a form of uncertainty, some of which include technological ambiguity, moral
ambiguity, and the ambiguity of age. The focus of this essay is Miyazaki s ambiguity of age,
specifically through his film My Neighbor Totoro. Through the theme of the ambiguity of age,
Miyazaki is able to show the different characteristics that are maintained through maturing,
characteristics that are left behind, and characteristics that are gained from the process of growing up.
I will focus on the differences of maturity between the two sisters and the father in My Neighbor
Totoro. Miyazaki s film My Neighbor Totoro tells the story of the two young daughters (Satsuki and
Mei), their father (Tatsuo), and the family s interactions with friendly wood spirits in postwar rural
Japan (Wikipedia). Satsuki seems to be around ten years old, and Mei seems to be around five years
old. The imbalance of maturity in Satsuki and Mei is first demonstrated when they are running around
their new house. Nothing is explicit about age Miyazaki only shows Satsuki running around the house,
and then shows Mei doing the same thing, but she does it like a young child (Miyazaki 10). This
seemingly small age difference is the foundation of Miyazaki s themes, motifs, and juxtapositions. In
the film, Satsuki and Mei s mother (Yasuko) has a long term illness
and is in the hospital. As a result, the

Reflection On Group Reflection
Group Reflection
Renae Van Der Linden
Roberts Wesleyan College Group Reflection When leading a group, it is important to understand what
the overall goal should be, as well as understanding what the group expectations are. Knowing what
the group goals and expectations are provides a basic outline of what the group dynamic should be.
Additionally, the goals and group expectations should be discussed with the group members,
providing the opportunity to share their input and possibly even make changes to what the facilitator
believes the group goal(s) or expectations should be.
The goal for the psychoeducational group based on mindfulness was to: define mindfulness, share
various mindfulness skills, discuss the applicability of mindfulness, and practice a few of the
mindfulness skills. Aside from these goals, which were created for the specific group session that was
led in class, there are also goals of psychoeducation as a whole. The purpose of psychoeducation is to
share information with group members about a particular topic. Related to that topic, skills should be
built upon. Psychoeducation not only provides group members to share their personal experiences
related to the group s topic, but also to teach the group members how to create their own support
system outside of the group (Corey, 2016).
Overall, I felt as though the goals of the group on mindfulness were accomplished, as well as the goals
of psychoeducation as a whole. Whitney and I were able to share information on mindfulness with the
class, which included the definition, skills, applicability, and examples of mindfulness, encompassing
the goal for the particular session that was led. Furthermore, I felt as though the group members were
able to share their personal experiences related to mindfulness and were even able to create their own
techniques and skills that can be implemented to reach the desired goal of mindfulness in their
personal lives.
Even though a few group members openly shared what they like to do to stay mindful, one way to
engage the group a little more would have been to go around and ask members to share, if they felt
comfortable, what they like to do to attain mindfulness. Opening this door to the conversation

My Family And The United States
My life was split over two distinct culture as my family moved back and forth between Syria and the
United States. My family immigrated to the U.S. in the early eighties and moved back to Syria two
years after I was born. I completed my first and second grades in Syrian public schools before
immigrating to the United States in 2001. I was first placed in english second language classes, which
I completed in 9 months. I then continued my fourth grade in regular classrooms. These two years
exposed me to various cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds. I interacted with people from all around
the world, which cultivated my cultural awareness and shaped my identity. However, I was harassed
several times because of my ethnic and religious background. A student once told me go back to your
country, we don t want you here . It had never occurred to me that I was perceived as foreign even
though I am a U.S. citizen.
In late 2003, when I was ten years old, my family and I moved back to Damascus, Syria. I postponed
my education in public elementary schools where everything was taught in Arabic. This rough
transition presented me with numerous cultural and educational challenges. I had to adapt to the
educational system in Syria and improve my Arabic skills to master its dense curriculum. I struggled
during my first year but managed to catch up, topping my class. My earlier experience in the United

Life Course And Human Development
According to Crawford and Walker(2010), the life course is defined in literature as, The progression
and path an individual takes from conception to death. (Crawford and walker, 2012, p.3). The study of
the life course and human development is extremely complex and could be described as
interdisciplinary as it encompasses many fields of study. When examining the life course of
individuals it is necessary to consider all of the various factors that affect human behaviour. These
may include; psychological, biological, social, behavioural, cognitive or culture factors. Age can also
be considered as a factor that influences lifespan development. In the early 19th century, the term age
related change was regarded as only applicable to the early childhood stage but in recent years,
psychologists have come to accept that age related changes occur throughout the entire life span.
According to Boyd and Bee (2014), other earlier theories included Charles Darwin s suggestion that,
the wide variety of life forms that exist on earth evolved gradually as a result of the interplay between
environmental factors and genetic process. (Boyd and Bee, 2014, p.3) Therefore Darwin proposed that
it was either solely, nature or nurture that influenced the human development, but instead, a
combination of both. In this assignment, I am going to focus on the specific psychological factors that
influence human behaviour during the life course. I will compare two different psychological

Juvenile Delinquency In American Literature
For comic book enthusiasts during the 1950 s, Frederic Wertham was more threatening to the reader
than any fictitious villain that they had read of before. This is because Dr. Frederic Wertham dedicated
his career to attacking the negative impact comic books had on its readers. Additionally, he discussed
the atrocious social implications they produced in American culture. Wertham took a similar
viewpoint to Sigmund Freud in that he believed, one s morals are strongly influenced by the society in
which a person lives. With this view, Wertham sought to answer the question; why is juvenile
delinquency rapidly growing in the United States? In order to answer this, Wertham decided to blame
comic books for being the primary cause of the rise in juvenile delinquency in the United States
(Wertham 100). Wertham s attack on comics is as Savage believes, most assuredly a pompous,
polemical, biased, and poorly documented one (Savage 96). In analyzing various comics, William
Savage s book Commies, Cowboys, and Jungle Queens, and an excerpt from Frederic Wertham s book
Seduction of the Innocent, I hold the belief that, although Wertham was melodramatic in his attack on
comic books, he still held a valid argument for the negative role comics played in the United States.
To start, I believe Wertham was justified in his belief that comic books constant display of sexism,
racism, and graphic violence, could have negatively impacted a child s development. In his book,

Different Dimensions Used in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by J.R.R. Tolkien
In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, J.R.R Tolkien uses many different dimensions to keep the poem
interesting. Each dimension that is presented has a contradiction, making the poem somewhat of a
fantasy. By using these techniques Tolkien makes the poem more humorous and psychological. As a
Christian knight Sir Gawain comes across many obstacles that attempt to lead him astray. He tries to
make all the correct actions in his conquest, however sin and temptation force him to decide between
good and evil. Although Tolkien presents a tale of a knight s chivalry and honor as well as the aspect

By taking Lady Bertilak s girdle, he puts his faith into something material and also jeopardizes his
relationship with Bertilak. When Gawain takes this girdle he is not only acting for himself but his
whole assembly of knights. When he goes back and tells his adventure, they all seem to be humbled
by Gawain taking the girdle, when in fact they are actually just laughing at themselves, because they
also have to wear the girdle. Although humor plays an important role in the poem of the Green Knight,
Tolkien also adds psychological effects in the poem as well. The element of Sir Gawain and the Green
Knight that involves the most psychological devices is when Lady Bertilak tries to seduce Gawain.
While this is happening, Bertilak is out hunting game to give to Gawain as a gift. In return for Bertilak
s gift, Gawain would also give a gift to Bertilak. Each day Bertilak presents a different animal to

Gawain gives Bertilak a kiss. Gawain is not aware that with every different animal Bertilak hunts,

Why Did The Samurai Attack Dbq

Who will win this deadly battle? The samurai, of course thanks to his agility as well as being ready to

The helmet bowl (of a samurai) was made of 8 12 iron plates. The samurai very much needed this

possibly violent towards him. He is chagrinned and then relieved when he learns that the car was just
bought today but that the teenagers are not violently upset. The encounter goes better than he expected
but he still beats himself up about how it was his fault and how guilty he feels. The theme to this story
is that of preconceived notions and irrational fears where someone does something not so good and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of PH Federalism
PH Federalism Debate: Where Are We Now?

prospects of federalism in the country using different perspectives and fields of inquiry where
reception for federalism ranged from full support to constructive criticisms. In general, advocates of
federalism argue that under a federal system, the Philippines will have a more inclusive economic
development by allowing the regions to have better fiscal autonomy. Moreover, they see it as way to
ensure more avenues for representation through regional governments that know better of policies that

  • 2. The Newest Powered Commercial By Coca Cola Co. Every professional athlete has his own story which made him as we see him now. Some Journeys were more difficult than others. However, the common keywords between all of them are the hard work and determination. Coca Cola Co. s PowerAde started its campaign Just a kid in the beginning of last year. PowerAde has used inspirational stories of professional athlete, who used to have a very hard start and they made their path into fame and success, to deliver a message to everyone that no one has chosen his start but we all can decide our termination. The newest powered commercial tells the story of Seattle Seahawk football player Jimmy Graham, who had a very tough upbringing in a group house in North Carolina to a superstar in the NFL. This paper is going to analyze that commercial and dive inside it to get deep meaning and catch the subtle message beyond its scenes. One of the meanings of this commercial is demonstrating the notion of the American dream. The mythical believe that anyone can start from the bottom and by continuing hard work, he can achieve his goal and attain wealth and possible fame. In other words, the individual should be completely honest and do their best to complete their work without plagiarism or finding an easy way to get the job done. It is considered unethical to do something that prevents an individual from being honest about their work. For example, John is worried about getting a D in his Spanish class if he does not do well on his midterm. His GPA will also be affected if he gets a D. On the day of his midterm, Jane, a student in John s Spanish class, sits by him. She notices that he is looking at papers in his backpack secretively and assumes he is cheating. However, Jane does not know what to do due to the fact that John helped her on a project the previous semester. • 4. Immune System Evolution 1.The topic being addressed in this article is the high improbability that our immune systems have evolved over time. All multicellular organisms have extremely complex immune systems. None of which are the same from one specie to the next. Even though these immune systems are different they all are remarkably efficient in dealing with pathogens. 2. Antibodies are Y shaped gamma globulin proteins found in the blood or lymph tissue. They are made by B cells as an immune defense against foreign antigens. Each antibody binds to a specific antigen. A Genome is a set of DNA. An Antigen is a foreign molecule which triggers the production of antibodies by the immune system. Every human has an Adaptive Immune System and an Innate Immune system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author argues that the complex processes used to produce antibody diversity and then create adaptive immune responses are not evidence of evolution but rather of intelligent design. Immune system diversity and evolution can be refuted by the fact that even in the primitive jawed vertebrates the immune system is very similar to that system used in advanced mammals. 7. I think the author makes a valid point because of the vast differences in immune systems from animal to animal proves that that are immune systems have not evolved over the years. The author also points out that many unique and dynamic immune mechanism exist among many different types of vertebrates. Recent research further proves his argument by showing that innate immune systems formerly thought to be very primitive are far more complex than once believed. 8. I agree with the author that it is impossible our immune system have evolved from other mammals. If they had we would more than likely have the same structure as other mammals, but as evidenced in the article we do not. We do however share similar functions such as an immune system protein that helps us defend against bacteria. This immune protein is also found in sea urchins. This sea urchin s protein is described as hardier then ours but still has the same basic functioning system further proving that when God created us, he may not have had the same design but operated in a way that kept things in a relative ... What is so fascinating about the painting is his application of the medium. Picasso uses the brush and or palette knife to create a cross hatch effect throughout the painting. Picasso chose to use neutral tones to describe the mood of the painting. The figure of Manuel Pallares is shown in a three quarters view within the composition. The deliberate positioning of the figure leads the viewer to believe that Manuel was not someone of importance. His wardrobe also lets the viewer know that he is an average person. Picasso s treatment of the details is very representational of the Cubist style. Sharp lines and a vast array of contrasting shapes and colors emphasize the creases of the suit jacket. This same attention to detail is present in the mustache and the background as well. On the other hand, Picasso s treatment of the Manuel s face is quite different. Motivation and Problem Formulation Application of game theoretic approach to individual nodes distributes the responsibility of security to all the nodes in the network thus reducing the loop holes in the security. The Game Theory approach explored in recent times addressing security issues in MANET focuses mostly on networks having central administration involving only 2 players i.e. attacker and defender. We propose a novel game theoretic approach with multiple players for security in MANETs. In a distributed environment there is no central administration and hence each node has to defend himself from the attacks. We propose a dynamic mean field game theoretic approach to enable an individual node in MANETs to make strategic security defense decisions without centralized administration. In the proposed mean field game theoretic approach, each node only needs to know its own state information and the aggregate effect of the other nodes in the MANET[2], making nodes self reliable against attacks. • 20. The Age Of Manufacturing That Preceded The Romantic Movement The age of manufacturing that preceded the Romantic Movement was characterized by industrialization and scientific, professional thinking. The philosophy of the era teaches that thoughts and assertions are only meaningful if they can be confirmed with evidence or valid reasoning. As a result, any assertion about entities from the abstract or conceptual alike, whether a statement about mermaids and unicorns or God and nature, is considered meaningless since they cannot be confirmed by factual report. This all started changing when the future leaders of the enlightenment decided that we should resort to more emotional thinking. Jean Jacques Rousseau, one of the leaders of the enlightenment observed that science was transforming Europe into unemotional machines. He says, Man was born free, but everywhere he is in chains...Let us return to nature. To Autumn by John Keats and Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey by William Wordsworth are both comparable and representative of the Romantic Movement. When the younger Assad first came to power, the West was ready for a more moderate Syria to be created, due to the fact that Assad had a western education and at one point was studying to become an eye doctor in London, England. However, western expectations were proved to be extremely wrong, as Assad has most definitely not created a moderate Syria, and arguably he has even made the country more right wing. He established unilateral control for himself and the Ba ath Party multiple times by declaring states of emergency in Syria, and he has ruled with an even stronger grip than his father. • 27. My Neighbor Totoro Essay Hayao Miyazaki has directed ten Studio Ghibli films, and many more outside the company. Most of his films include a form of uncertainty, some of which include technological ambiguity, moral ambiguity, and the ambiguity of age. The focus of this essay is Miyazaki s ambiguity of age, specifically through his film My Neighbor Totoro. Through the theme of the ambiguity of age, Miyazaki is able to show the different characteristics that are maintained through maturing, characteristics that are left behind, and characteristics that are gained from the process of growing up. I will focus on the differences of maturity between the two sisters and the father in My Neighbor Totoro. Miyazaki s film My Neighbor Totoro tells the story of the two young daughters (Satsuki and Mei), their father (Tatsuo), and the family s interactions with friendly wood spirits in postwar rural Japan (Wikipedia). Satsuki seems to be around ten years old, and Mei seems to be around five years old. The imbalance of maturity in Satsuki and Mei is first demonstrated when they are running around their new house. Nothing is explicit about age Miyazaki only shows Satsuki running around the house, and then shows Mei doing the same thing, but she does it like a young child (Miyazaki 10). This seemingly small age difference is the foundation of Miyazaki s themes, motifs, and juxtapositions. In the film, Satsuki and Mei s mother (Yasuko) has a long term illness and is in the hospital. • 29. Reflection On Group Reflection Group Reflection Renae Van Der Linden Roberts Wesleyan College Group Reflection When leading a group, it is important to understand what the overall goal should be, as well as understanding what the group expectations are. Knowing what the group goals and expectations are provides a basic outline of what the group dynamic should be. Additionally, the goals and group expectations should be discussed with the group members, providing the opportunity to share their input and possibly even make changes to what the facilitator believes the group goal(s) or expectations should be. The goal for the psychoeducational group based on mindfulness was to: define mindfulness, share various mindfulness skills, discuss the applicability of mindfulness, and practice a few of the mindfulness skills. Aside from these goals, which were created for the specific group session that was led in class, there are also goals of psychoeducation as a whole. The purpose of psychoeducation is to share information with group members about a particular topic. Related to that topic, skills should be built upon. Psychoeducation not only provides group members to share their personal experiences related to the group s topic, but also to teach the group members how to create their own support system outside of the group (Corey, 2016). Overall, I felt as though the goals of the group on mindfulness were accomplished, as well as the goals of psychoeducation as a whole. Whitney and I were able to share information on mindfulness with the class, which included the definition, skills, applicability, and examples of mindfulness, encompassing the goal for the particular session that was led. Furthermore, I felt as though the group members were able to share their personal experiences related to mindfulness and were even able to create their own techniques and skills that can be implemented to reach the desired goal of mindfulness in their personal lives. Even though a few group members openly shared what they like to do to stay mindful, one way to engage the group a little more would have been to go around and ask members to share, if they felt comfortable, what they like to do to attain mindfulness. • 31. Life Course And Human Development According to Crawford and Walker(2010), the life course is defined in literature as, The progression and path an individual takes from conception to death. (Crawford and walker, 2012, p.3). The study of the life course and human development is extremely complex and could be described as interdisciplinary as it encompasses many fields of study. When examining the life course of individuals it is necessary to consider all of the various factors that affect human behaviour. These may include; psychological, biological, social, behavioural, cognitive or culture factors. Age can also be considered as a factor that influences lifespan development. In the early 19th century, the term age related change was regarded as only applicable to the early childhood stage but in recent years, psychologists have come to accept that age related changes occur throughout the entire life span. According to Boyd and Bee (2014), other earlier theories included Charles Darwin s suggestion that, the wide variety of life forms that exist on earth evolved gradually as a result of the interplay between environmental factors and genetic process. (Boyd and Bee, 2014, p.3) Therefore Darwin proposed that it was either solely, nature or nurture that influenced the human development, but instead, a combination of both. • 34. Juvenile Delinquency In American Literature For comic book enthusiasts during the 1950 s, Frederic Wertham was more threatening to the reader than any fictitious villain that they had read of before. This is because Dr. Frederic Wertham dedicated his career to attacking the negative impact comic books had on its readers. Additionally, he discussed the atrocious social implications they produced in American culture. Wertham took a similar viewpoint to Sigmund Freud in that he believed, one s morals are strongly influenced by the society in which a person lives. With this view, Wertham sought to answer the question; why is juvenile delinquency rapidly growing in the United States? In order to answer this, Wertham decided to blame comic books for being the primary cause of the rise in juvenile delinquency in the United States (Wertham 100). Wertham s attack on comics is as Savage believes, most assuredly a pompous, polemical, biased, and poorly documented one (Savage 96). In analyzing various comics, William Savage s book Commies, Cowboys, and Jungle Queens, and an excerpt from Frederic Wertham s book Seduction of the Innocent, I hold the belief that, although Wertham was melodramatic in his attack on comic books, he still held a valid argument for the negative role comics played in the United States. To start, I believe Wertham was justified in his belief that comic books constant display of sexism, racism, and graphic violence, could have negatively impacted a child s development. Tolkien In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, J.R.R Tolkien uses many different dimensions to keep the poem interesting. As a Christian knight Sir Gawain comes across many obstacles that attempt to lead him astray. Although humor plays an important role in the poem of the Green Knight, Tolkien also adds psychological effects in the poem as well. The element of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight that involves the most psychological devices is when Lady Bertilak tries to seduce Gawain. While this is happening, Bertilak is out hunting game to give to Gawain as a gift. In return for Bertilak s gift, Gawain would also give a gift to Bertilak. Each day Bertilak presents a different animal to Gawain, and Gawain gives Bertilak a kiss.
