Craik Lockhart (1972) suggested levels of Processing Theory, which specified that stimulus
inputs experience consecutive processing operations. A study was conducted using two groups
with different rehearsal techniques and each were then asked to recall from a list of words that
had been read out as precisely as possible. There has been considerable criticism of this theory
however as Baddeley questioned, Is the levels approach based on false assumptions . The idea of
maintenance rehearsal is one that many people are still uncertain of. Psychologists such as
Atkinson and Shiffrin have also made assumptions on memory based on maintenance rehearsal yet
whether this is a false concept is yet to be discovered.
Introduction
Craik and Lockhart (1972) suggested that memory is just a product of the complexity of handling
data and there is no clear variance between short term memory and long term memory. This theory
then resulted in different theories being brought forward in order to prove this statement correct or
incorrect. Craik and Lockhart then suggested the concept of shallow processing. This style of
processing usually takes one of two forms: Phonemic processing, which is encoded by sound or
structural processing which is encoded visually. Shallow processing only encompasses maintenance
rehearsal and leads to fairly short term holding of information. They also suggested the idea of

data from 2000 to 2013 from www.city data.com, the population of Star, NC is approximately
730 people. Of these 730 people, 57.5% are white, 21.1% are Hispanic, and 21.1% are black. Of this
population, it is estimated that 82.5% of the population aged 25 or above have a high school
education or higher. The median household income is recorded as $19,780. It should be noted that
17.3% of the population lives below the poverty level.

country pays for its love of capitalism. Michael Moore demonstrates the failure of Capitalism as
an economic system in America. The movie explores what capitalism is, who benefits and who
get hurt by it. The film clearly shows how capitalism was hijacked by special interests and how it
decimated the middle class, making it so much smaller while at the same time enlarging the poor

The concept of ambiguity had not been prevalent in society until the inception of the 20th century.
Its presence has always been subtle, but its impact can lead students and scholars down to roads of
new ideologies and even result in challenging the current standards of society. Ambiguity is the
quality of being open to more than one interpretation, and thus, it forces us to remain open minded.
Authors and artists such as Steinbeck, Didion, Kingston, Thiebaud, Shepard, and everyone else we
have encountered incorporate ambiguity as a way to provoke the reader and open up conversations
regarding the current state of California. Despite all the opportunities available in The Golden State,
it is indisputable that it is a placed filled with uncertainties. California, as a landmass, is filled with
rustic and natural beauty, yet for the past decades, it has not seen anything other than
industrialization. The state is a sanctuary for immigrants, yet they are discriminated and deported.
Laborers arrived, motivated to find work, but often found themselves exploited and worked to the
bone. African Americans established communities where they share their culture and values, but
are mocked and in turn, encounter institutionalized racism. So despite the opportunities that this
state promises, California is still paradoxical. To truly comprehend this notion, we can look at texts

Rules revolving around Canadian Content (CanCon) have been set in place since the 1920 s. In
2005, revisions to the 1991 Broadcasting Act were made. Since this revision was made there have
been further changes to the Act trying to create the best set of rules for CanCon to be broadcasted
(Dewing, 2011). CanCon is an outdated concept that is causing consumers to switch to other forms
of media. The CanCon rules cannot determine what is considered Canadian and they cannot keep

The South was a volatile place when concerning the separation of the white and black
communities. Laws were put into place to solidify the separation of the races while providing
equal opportunity to all. However, these laws, known as the Jim Crow laws, were ratified to give
the illusion of equality while allowing for separation to continue. Though the image these laws
held gave the impression of equality, while the people did not hold equal status. To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee explores the racial tensions of separate but equalthroughout the novel
