2. Employee Motivation Is A Feedback Loop Between External...
Change management is a feedback loop between external and internal activities, outcomes and
needs. However, many companies pay more attention to external activities than internal activities
their structures are still too tall (Rodrigues, 2007, p.711). This is important as employee motivation
is positively correlated with customer satisfaction happy employees make happy customers
(Rodrigues, 2007, p. 698). Success is not attainable in the absence of happy employees. Employees
are the most important asset held by an organization. Employees are crucial to an origination s
strategy as they are the means by which strategy is put to work . Accordingly, managementmust

The components of the two theories are very different yet they seek to accomplish the same goal
to motivate employees (Bobic, 2003, p.245). Based on this, both theories have their place in the
strategic architecture of an organization. The following text will analyze the components of
theories X and Y to verify the added value of each. Theory X is based on the following assumptions.
It is a manager s job to drive and support motivation through the organization of resources, by
directing and controlling employee behavior (McGregor, 2000, p.2).
Humans by nature lack the ability to motivate themselves in the absence of the manager s pressure
and leadership (McGregor, 2000, p.2).
Without the intervention of management employee will only do the bare minimum required of
them (McGregor, 2000, p. 2).
Employees are lacking of ambition , disliking of responsibility and prefer to be led (McGregor,
2000, p.2).
Employees will not willingly engage in activities which result in the achievement of organizational
needs in the absence of management s guidance as they are inherently self centered (McGregor,
2000, p.2).
Employees are by nature resistant to change (McGregor, 2000, p.2).
Motivating factors are based on meeting the individual employees safety and physiological needs
(Bobic, 2003, p.244).
Managers need to set clear rules and expectations for employees in order to drive success

3. The Stop And Frisk Police Essay
The stop, question, and frisk policy qualifies as a criminal justice issue that has captured the
attention of public nationwide. Empirical research has presented evidence that the stop and frisk
police is disproportionately used against minorities, which indicates the prevalence of racial
profiling. Firstly, statistical databases have shown that the New York Police
Departments have
stopped and frisked approximately 685,000 persons since 2011, with 85 percent of those individuals
representing African Americans and Latino Americans (Zamani, 2012). Many of the individuals are
male. The statistical representation, unaccompanied, speaks volumes that the racial profiling is
prevalent in the practice. The racial profiling of minorities violates the constitutional rights of the
individuals that are stop and frisked based on their skin color.
Secondly, research shown that approximately 6% percent of the stops and frisk have caused
individuals being arrested and 2% in the recovery of illegal weapons ( Report of The NYPD S ,
2013). This statistical data demonstrates how the stop and frisk policy is ineffective at achieving
the objective of removing illegal weapons off of the streets, however, it is effective at removing
illegal substances off of the streets. In many of the cases, the police officer instructs the individual
to remove illegal substances from their pockets and then arrested and convicted of a misdemeanor
for having marijuana in plain view. This is a violation of the

Tea in Japan
The Japanese beverage sector is one of the biggest beverage markets in the world. It is highly
competitive and has reached a peak in its maturity, thus making growth difficult (Japan). This term
paper will study why the Japanese tea market has seen a gradual decrease over the years, and will
study the factors that caused this industry to see such a change. It will include the history/origin of
tea, the ongoing changes in the tea market, and whether other countries like China are seeing the
same downward shift. It will also provide research on the top Japanese tea sellers, major (tea) export
partners, top competitors (both internal and external), current products in the market, along with

The ceremonies have influenced all forms of Japanese art (such as garden design and flower
arrangements), and has become a social custom to Japanese people (Tea). This way of life is still
prevalent in Japanese culture today (especially among the older generations).
Along the lines of Japan s long history of tea, the first signs of these exports appeared in 1610 by
the Dutch East India Company, when a shipment of Japanese tea was sent to Europe (Ito En).
Later in 1858 Japan opened its ports, first to the United States, then to countries like the UK,
Russia, and France. This marked the time in which tea became one of Japan s main exports.
Afterwards the export of tea expanded due to the support of the Japanese government, with their
main focus on the United States as an export partner. These countries, along with many others
nowadays, are still huge tea trading partners with Japan. They contribute a good portion to Japan s
tea market; the main attraction to Japanese tea has to do with their cultural practices attributed to
earlier uses of tea and ceremonies in Japan.
Japan has faced major issues regarding natural disasters over the years. These disasters can greatly
attribute to the downfall of the Japanese Tea market. The most famously known occurrence
appeared in 2011, when Japan had a triple disaster (earthquake, tsunami, and then followed by the
nuclear disaster). This disaster affected tea

6. Isolation In John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums
Someone who has insignificant contact or a small amount of similarities with another person
persuades a sign of being isolated. The act of isolation is usually detected when someone separates
themselves away from other people or places. In some cases, it can also be the other way around
and other people will disconnect or single out an individual. Throughout the year, half of the short
stories that were given are an enhancement towards the impact of isolation brought upon a
character. Our society chooses to isolate themselves from others because they fear the reactions
they will evoke from others or based on the reactions others has evoked on them. The author in A P,
John Updike, placed isolation on the protagonist throughout the story,... Show more content on

The wife and husband physically isolated themselves from each other while they both did their
duty. Elisa Allen, working in her flower garden, looked down across the yard and saw Henry,
her husband (Steinbeck 1). Since they were physically comfortable with being distant from one
another, then they grew to be emotionally detached. Their negative attitude and actions towards
their loved one resulted in bad behavior. In her tone and on her face there was a little smugness

husband with a stranger. While communicating with the stranger her eyes hardened with

Directed by Sam Raimi, this film had great potential. Finally anticipated villains and new ideas
were going to be set up into the film. But unfortunately trying to please all the fans of the films
backfired. Too many characters lead to an unclear story. The unclear story affected vague themes
that were trying to be shown. As a sequel to spider man 2, this filmwas caught in its own weird,

You only need to see this film once to understand that it is disappointing. It is overloaded with
villains, so the only way to develop their own character is to push others aside. Sam Raimi
wanted sandman. But the studio and fans wanting venom; Harry is just another villain.
Although having the best set up to be the main villain of the three, Harry s part in the film is
pushed around. For example he gets amnesia in order for other characters to be focused on. The
amnesia completely changes Harry to become a happy person. This undermines the director s
purpose of having Harry as a villain. Villains are not meant to be joyous and dancing. Raimi s
intentions of showing Harry as fearsome and intimidating were contradicted. After Sandman is
out of the picture, Harry s memory is back and now he s evil again. Which leads us back to the
point that this film is all over the place with flaws. What did his character gain from amnesia?
Nothing. Then after this Harry becomes a good guy again. Harry s character is being spun about

9. Effects Of Mongol Rule On China
In breaking down the causations and effects of the Mongols regarding their rule on China during
1200 1500, one can see these include the implementation of governing philosophies of elected
officials that shaped Chinese culture, the influence of tax farming systems on China s economy,
and the influence of trade on social hierarchies. An example of an impact by the Mongols on
Chinese rule is the negative influences of tax farming on Chinese economy. Another example of a
causation of Mongol rule on Chinais the of tax farming systems in order to improve revenue in the
area.
China during Mongol domination, incorporated philosophy and organization into the government,
which helped it shape their cultural and political outlook. An example of an impact of Mongol rule
on China s government is their use of provinces to organize China s cities, specifically with Yunnan.
The Mongols used provinces to systemize the government and appointed governors to each district,
where that governor would take care of the taxes. The reason for this method of organization is that
the Mongols trusted foreigners more than the Chinese, so they appointed their tasks to foreigners
such as the governor of Yunnan. The governor of Yunnan didn t have any major positions, but he
helped develop the trade in his region and promoted Confucian belief which along with the
provincial organization shaped China. An example of a causation for the incorporation of
Confucian belief in government was due to the Mongols

In retrospect, each experience was molding me towards becoming a better physician, a better vessel

underdeveloped countries despite the availability of the resource. The lessons learned in this
class can easily be translated to healthcare. Often those most in need of medical care are the
furthest removed from access to it. I want to use my background in economics to close this
healthcare gap. I attempted to solve a similar distribution problem in my own community by
founding The Campbell Initiative, a non profit micro finance organization that provides zero

16. Introduction Of A Six Sigma Project Has Been Performed On...
Introduction
A six sigma project has been performed on Music Co. as the company was experiencing a high
number of tickets relating to its digital release planning system that caused delays in expected
release date. The delays affected customer satisfaction because if the music vendor did not
release their recording on time, it would lead the customer to opt for a pirated version, which
also causes company loss in sales. The company hopes the project team can use DMAIC to
analyze and improve their release process in a timely fashion with fewer errors. They also hope to
find out what reasons caused the delays and eliminate the root causes. The planning involves
various human based processes, so the company wants to achieve as few errors as possible.
Summary
Before they start to utilize DMAIC into this project, they have created a project qualification
checklist to weigh and focus on segments that they should concentrate and improve on. However,
they finalized this project as a must do and will be able to grow the process but cannot reengineer
the whole procedure.
As stated above, the company used DMAIC to define the problem and solve it. In this project, the
author has also included lessons learned at the end of the project. So the report has been well
classified into 5 parts accordingly Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control.

17. Tropes In Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump is set in Georgia in the early 1960 s, when Forrest is sitting at a bus stop, with

stop telling his life story to anyone who stops to listen, very little of the film takes place in the
present tense; rather, the plot takes place in the past as Forrest recounts his life experiences.
Throughout the film, many populist tropes surface within Forrest s life, showing how Forrest lived
in a time where he was unknowingly exposed and even contributing to a populist way of life that
challenged the way average people viewed society in the United States. Forrest Gumpintegrates the
tropes of populism with the genres of romance, war, and adventure, sending a powerful message to
viewers of how they ought to view the world, at a time when corruption and impurity dominated
society.
From the beginning of the film, it is evident that Forrest suffers from a mild form of mental illness.
This characterization is apparent throughout the movie, as Forrest is often viewed as an idiot.
While trying to get into the local public school, Forrest is initially denied admission due to his IQ
being lower than the required level for the school system. Although the principal of the school never
explicitly calls him an idiot, the implication is so strong that even Forrest himself understands the
principal thinks he is too dumb for school.

18. Why Is Zeus Important To Greek God
Zeus was the Greek king of gods and was very important in Greek Mythology. His powers are to
control the weather and thunder. His family consisted of Cronos, Rhea, and many brothers and

things that were not Christ like. He was not a real god. So that being said, Zeuscould not have been

It was only through the aid of the Cyclops and the three Hecatoncheires, or Hundred Handed
ones, (www.greekmythology.com) that Zeus won the battle. In Zeus s life he accomplished
many things. Not only did he overthrow his father, he also defeated the Titans at Titanomachy.
This is how Zeus got in power. Before the battle of Titanomachy the Titans were in power. The
Titans were the children of Uranus. Cronus, a Titan, was a very powerful being and was not
easy to stop or control. Although Zeus did not defeat the Titans by himself it is still an important
accomplishment. Zeus had an impressive set of powers, even for a Greek god. He could control
thunder, lightning and weather. Zeus was not born with his powers; he did not even get them until
the battle of Titanomachy. According to Mythology Zeus lightning was made by the three
immortal Cyclops. The Cyclops made the lightning in the belly of earth as soon as they were
born. So if it was not for the Cyclops the battle might still be going on. (www.historylink101.com)

25. Brian s Song Technology And Culture Analysis
Exam #2: Brian s Song, Flow, and Culture In Television: Technology and Cultural Form ,
Williams labels flow as the defining characteristic of broadcasting, simultaneously as a
technology and as a cultural form . TV broadcasting slowly expanded its straightforward
approach to programming by developing a planned flow , tying programs into a larger goal of
subtly goading audiences to stay tuned for other (sometimes related, sometimes not)
programming. Brian s Song, maybe the most successful TV movie to come out in 1971 (along
with Spielberg s Duel), is a prime example of a TV network both capitalizing on its existing base
and inviting new audiences while at the same time promoting its own brand (ABC s still fairly new

Brian s Song, while meaningful and groundbreaking (in regards to its impact on the future of
made for TV movies), is just another notable side effect of networks acting as their own PR
agents. The audience became so engaged with the film that they were willing to sit through
several minutes of commercials, both MNF related and promoting other ABC programs,
interspersed throughout the film just to see its conclusion. The consensual space wasn t created
out of an actual want for positive representation, but out of necessity. Even in the 70s, it was
impossible for a program to be a huge success with a limited audience. Brian s Song benefitted
from its inclusion of female characters (however one dimensional) not only because they
allowed straight male viewers to cry knowing they were crying over equally straight characters,
but because it allowed women who weren t previously football fans to gain some interest. The
family angle is another aspect of the consensual space, as families in this sense aren t limited by
class or race, with black and white families alike being able to enjoy the film and be the target
group for ads displayed for other family oriented shows. In a way, ABC used Brian s Song and the

In the early twentieth century, New Culture Movement, which aimed at battling against the old,
outworn feudal mentality and the Chinese ethic of self submission, brought tremendous changes
and aroused the collision between tradition and modernity. Guided by Democracy and Science ,
more and more people were nurtured by the western modern culture and influenced by the western
ideal of freedom, equality and fraternity, including the long oppressed Chinese women. Chinese
women, who used to be fettered by the feudal ethics and codes, began to enter the public domain

29. Scientific Revolution Vs Industrial Revolution
Studying the Scientific Revolution, Enlightenment, French Revolutions, Revolutions of 1830/1848,
and the Industrial Revolution has shown that these revolutions have similarities and differences.
While some revolutions have been more successful than others, each revolution is unique in its own
way. In addition, each revolution had various factors that caused the uprisings.
The causes of the Scientific Revolution consist of many things. The Scientific Revolution occurred
during the Renaissance period. This was a time of the rebirth of art and learning. This sparked
people to question the teachings of the Church and Aristotle. During the Renaissance period, people
began to use scientific methods which questioned an idea, tested the idea, and then came to ... Show

Similarly, during the Industrial Revolution, the working class formed unions that threatened to
strike if they didn t get the reforms they wanted. Workers came up with the Ten Hours Act that
demanded limiting the workday to 10 hours for children and women. Another act that changed
conditions for the working class was the Mines Act. This act prevented the women and children
from working in the mines. These reforms of the Industrial and French Revolutions helped better
the lower classes lives. The Scientific Revolution and the Industrial Revolution both had inventions
and discoveries that advanced the country and society. For example, during the Scientific
Revolution, Zacharias Janssen invented the microscope. This invention made it easier for scientists
to make precise observations and discoveries. Also, Torricelli invented the barometer to predict the
weather. This allowed people to plan accordingly to the weather. Another example of discoveries
during the Scientific Revolution included Edward Jenner s invention of the vaccine to prevent

Why Was Gettysburg Considered a Turning Point in the Civil War?
Gettysburg was one of the bloodiest battles ever fought in American history. A total of over
46,000 soldiers were lost in this battle. Confederate General Robert E. Lee had beaten a Union
force twice the size of his at the Battle of Chancellorsville earlier that year in the spring of 1863.
But soon after this battle, he went off the radar. This was until rumors began to emerge that he and
his army were marching into Pennsylvania. This caused a major panic. At this time, Union
President Abraham Lincoln appointed General George Meade as head of the Union army. Meade
had little time to prepare, as it was June 27th, just four days from the battle (he did not know this.)

33. Law Enforcement Police Enforcement Officers
Abstract
Law enforcement officers are faced with the challenges of using the appropriate amount of force
during arrests or apprehensions and are criticized by the public on a daily basis. Not all
excessive force is restricted to physical violence; this is where brutality fits in. The reasons for
these actions might be explainable, or unacceptable. It may appear that the law enforcement
officer is taking advantage of the situation, when in fact they may be following procedure, and in
turn can articulate the reasons for taking the excessive actions. Additionally, the lack of proper
training or experience in a specific situation may result in the decision to react improperly or
against standard operating procedures. Furthermore, the amount of stress that a law enforcement
officer is under during the split second decision to use force may contribute to the actions taken.
There may be several contributing factors that lead to an officer using excessive force. Regardless
of the reason, the public figure of a law enforcement officer should never use their badge or power
to instill fear or intimidation, or conduct themselves unprofessionally.
The Use of Deadly Force and Police Brutality

themselves in any manner as they please, there are many officers that serve and protect; taking the
oath that they swore to very seriously. Almost every day, law enforcement officers are required to

34. My Experience On A Boat Ride To Catalina Island
One of my greatest field trips ever was on a boat ride to Catalina Island. It consisted of a three
day overnight trip to the beautiful Island. My Dad and I woke up at 4:35 in the morning just to
get to school on time to load up the bus. On the way to school, my dad and I stopped at three
different stores to make sure we had enough food, and supplies for the boat ride. I was tired, but
super excited! Once we arrived at school, we immediately started packing up the bus. Everyone
looked like they just got drug out of the bed by their parents, just to come to another regular,
boring day of school. I think I was the only one who was really excited; except for my Dad of
course. Once the bus was completely packed with all our supplies, we all used the restroom,
then hopped on the bus. As we drove down the freeway, my classmates and I played fun games
like: I Spy and truth or dare. When we arrived in Long Beach, my friends and I decided to skip
rocks by throwing the rocks into the water. Unfortunately, we got reprimanded by the person
who worked there. That embarrassment did not last long because of the exciting adventure
ahead. I was surprised to see how wrong I was about the type of boat that we would be taking.
All along, I thought we were going to be taking an old wooden boat like those in the old movies.
Thankfully, I became pleasantly surprised when I saw a modern motor boat. Suddenly, the
engine turned on, and I was afraid for our lives. The woman driving sped the whole way there. It
was a long and bumpy ride. After safely making it to Catalina Island, I wanted to hurry and
throw on my swim trunks so that I could jump in the clear beautiful water. The water was so
clear, that I could see fish brushing against my legs. As we stepped off of the boat and followed

35. Mexican Independence During The Mexican Revolution Essay
Mexican Independence After the people of Mexico freed themselves from Spanish control, they
faced difficulties trying to officially establish themselves as a country. Despite their independence,
Mexico had to also live with the aftermath of Spanish colonialism. Part of the aftermath included
socio political issues amongst the Mexican people. In an effort to establish themselves as a nation,
they first had to free themselves from a Spanish ideology, for Mexicotruly was not free after their
independence. The socio political predicaments contribute to the evolution of modern day
Mexico. To begin, let s go back the start of Mexico s independence: Mexico was declared in 1821,
and the Spanish crown lost control after the Mexican War for Independence (Menchaca 161). As
a result of Mexico s independence, the ownership of power was given to the Mexican people. This
led to immediate socio political and territorial changes. Mexico s war for independence was
inspired by the Catholic priest known as Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. After his call for action against
the Spanish in the town of Dolores, Mexico, also known as the Cry of Dolores, the people of
Mexico united to rebel against the Spanish (AcuГ±a 40). This led to an eleven year war to
achieve independence. That very first day of the revolution will always hold symbolic meaning in
the eyes of the Mexican people: 16 September 1810. Alas, Mexico was left with the debris of 300
years of Spanish control following their immediate

36. The Current Hostilities Between Yemen And Saudi Arabia Today
What are the underlying factors, cultural differences, and outside intervention leading up to the
current hostilities between Yemen and Saudi Arabia today? To answer some of these fundamental
questions, I will use the relevant aspects of the five core ideas about the social conflict which are
championed by Louis Kriesberg and Bruce Dayton s book Constructive Conflicts. Kriesberg and
Dayton posit that that social conflicts are universal, and can be beneficial; social conflicts are
waged with varying destructiveness; social conflicts entail contested social constructions; social
conflicts can be transformed, and that social conflicts are dynamic and tend to move through stages.

The roots of the current conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemenstems from
sectarian, social political, and ideological differences which are identified as contested social
constructions in the core ideas. Moreover, these social constructions are moving in stages and are
vital to the accurate assessment as to what has led to the original cause of the conflict. Ideological
differences tainted with sectarianism seem to be one of the driving factors for conflict. The newly
unified Republic of Yemen kept its Ba athist loyalties, and it s somewhat tempered Marxist
leanings in its governance. One of the presumed crucial trigger points for the ongoing conflict
between Yemen and Saudi Arabia is the 1990 Gulf War. On August 2, 1990, the state of Iraq
invaded the small state of Kuwait and claimed it as their 19th province. This is taken, and not
without unfounded rationalization, as only a small stepping stone for Iraq to directly attack the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its expansive oil fields to the south. Saudi Arabia claimed that Iraq s
actions posed a serious threat to its national security and sovereignty and asked the international
community for assistance. The international community quickly responded with an immediate

37. Why World War I Began
There is no cut and dry answer why WWI began. It seems like all of the countries were acting as
if they were a group of teenage girls in high school gossiping about one another and doing
antagonistic things to badger each other to make themselves feel better due to their own
insecurities. It could be argued many ways why WWI started but I believe that it was brought
upon by grudges that were held over a long period of time, until, the straw that broke the camel s
back , which was the assassination of the Archduke France Ferdinand. With support from Germany
s blank check, Austria Hungary secured a bond with Germany that led to Franz Joseph signing his
declaration of war on Serbia. With tensions building between the two countries, prior to the
assassination, there were definitely things that had been boiling under the surface. The
responsibility of WWI does not lie on one country; all participants played a role in its beginning
whether it was direct or indirect. Many tensions were building up throughout Europe. Nationalism,
Militarism, and Imperialism are reasons that led to WWI among others. Imperialism is unequally
and forcefully taking over another country which is what many countries were doing before WWI.
Europeans started taking over small countries just for the resources and power. Nationalism was
developed and it created a dedication and devotion between an individual and there country.
Individuals began to have pride of their country along with patriotism. This

The culture that had the most impact on the modern world varies on opinion from scholar to

the Chinese was unable to. We can see most roots of modern Western culture

Ancient Greek.
Ancient Greece had a very large impact on todays modern world. The Greeks developed many
amazing inventions, and ideals that have shaped our society. The various fields that were advanced
include architecture, democracy, philosophy, science, and social occurrences (arts, sports, etc.). The
Greeks were very traditional in their dwelling structures and established three very prominent
architectural designs that are still used today. These designs include the Doric, Ionic, and
Corinthian styles. The most notable, the Doric style is described by its vertical columns, and the
slightly sloped plain roof. The Ionic and Corinthian styles are more intricate and detailed, being
dominant during their respectable architectural periods. A famous example would be the Parthenon,
the building has withstood the test of time since the 5th century BCE. The style is very notable in
the United States, representing buildings of power or high status, the White House being the most
prominent example. Comparatively the ancient Chinese style of architecture has stayed in the

... A guy goes nuts if he ain t got nobody. Don t make no difference who the guy is, long s he s

quote, Crooks talking about why people need companionship. This quote also lets us know that
Crooks yearns for friendship from anybody. Crooks has been treated so badly, that when people
are kind to him he is suspicious. For example, when Lennie comes to visit Crooks in his living
quarters, he is not very welcoming. Lennie smiled helplessly in an attempt to make friends.
Crooks said sharply, You got no right to come in my room. This here s my room. Nobody got
any right in here but me. (Steinbeck 68). As a black man, he is discriminated. This
discrimination is made worse because he is crippled. Even those who are frowned upon by
society harass him. Listen, Nigger, she said. You know what I can do to you if you open your
trap? ... I could get you strung up on a tree [get him killed] so easy it ain t even funny (Steinbeck

threatening Crooks after the two got into an argument.

45. Gun Control Laws Are Protect Women From Domestic Abusers...
More gun control laws are needed to protect women from domestic abusers and stalkers. Five
women are killed with firearms consistently in the United States. A lady s danger of being killed
increments 500% if a weapon is available amid a local question. Amid the Iraq and Afghanistan
wars, 5,364 US warriors were murdered in real life between Oct. 7, 2001 and Jan. 28, 2015;
somewhere around 2001 and 2012 6,410 ladies were slaughtered with a firearmby a close
accomplice in the United States. A 2003 investigation of 23 crowded high pay nations found that
86% of ladies killed by guns were in the United States and American ladies are 11.4 times more
inclined to be the casualties of firearm crimes 57% of mass shootings included aggressive
behavior at home. For instance, the 2011 mass shooting at a Seal Beach, CA hair salon
supposedly started in view of the shooter s guardianship fight with his ex who was a hairdresser at
the salon. 31 states don t forbid indicted offense stalkers from owning weapons and 41 states don t
compel sentenced local abusers from surrendering firearmsthey as of now own.76% of ladies killed
and 85% of ladies who survived a murder endeavor by a private accomplice were stalked in the year
prior to the murder or murder endeavor.

guns for hunting and sport. In 2011, there were 13.7 million seekers 16 years of age or more

46. A Study On The And Properties Of Aluminium Alloys
CHAPTER 3 LITERATURE REVIEW
3.1 Introduction
The Al Zn Mg series aluminium alloys (7xxx) are the heat treatable alloys and widely applied as
large structural components in navigation and transportation facilities, due to good combination of
hardness, high strength and fracture toughness [1 6]. The use of Sc (scandium) to achieve grain
refinement has recently received great attention. The microstructures and properties of aluminium
alloys are strongly affected by adding small quantities of scandium. Scandium additions in excess of
0.55wt.% (i.e., hypereutectic) are very effective in grain refinement, suggesting that the primary
ScAl3 phase serves as an effective grain nucleant [7 9].
The effect of a Sc addition will of course depend on the composition of the alloy. The additions of
Sc in aluminium alloy appear to reduce hot tearing and shrinkage porosity. Hot shortness increase
with increase in Zn but decrease with increase in Mg content [10, 11]. The process of precipitation
in the Al Zn Mg alloy system is quite complex. The aged structure and the kinetics of ageing depend
on both the Zn and Mg concentration and the temperatures of solution and ageing treatments. As
the Sc contents increases within the specified solubility in the solid solution, the grains virtually do
not disintegrate. The maximum solubility of scandium increases from 0.35 to 0.6 wt.% [12, 13].
When the amount of scandium exceeds the eutectic content and, consequently, there appear primary
particles of

49. Elton John Stereotypes
A big fruity pie that just simply doesn t bake. Is this how we describe one of the greatest albums
of all time, from one of the greatest musicians of all time? Has this only been said because he s
gay, or because he doesn t conform to his gender stereotype? Nevertheless before we come to our
own conclusions we must first get to know the man.
Born 25 3 1947 Reginald Kenneth Dwight, or more commonly known as Sir Elton John, became
somewhat of a child prodigy after he began playing the piano at the young age of four, he could
play any melody he heard by ear. After winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy Of Musicat
age 11, Elton studied for six years but dropped out just shy of graduation to try his luck with a
rock career. At age 14 Elton formed his first band known as the Corvettes, which later reformed
into Bluesology. Taking the stage at the Northwood Hills Hotel Friday s to Sunday s playing Jim
Reeves and Ray Charles covers Elton earned enough to purchase his first electric piano. Late in the
60 s at an audition for Liberty Records Elton John meet with unarguably the most significant person
to play part in his musical career, Bernie Taupin.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bernie has collaborated with other lyricists such as Alice Cooper, but undoubtedly his relationship
with Elton was the greatest. Candle in the Wind, Saturday Night s Alright for Fighting, Bennie and
the Jets and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road are some of the award winning songs written by Bernie.
Strangely it has been said that they have never composed together in the same room, Bernie would
simply write the lyrics and hand them onto Elton who would then leave in private and write the
music, Elton said himself that if the song didn t work within the first two minutes he would simply
discard the song

50. Lanchester System Case Study
In this paper, an interactive tool using the shiny package in R code was developed to better
understand the interactions between X and Y forces along with their appropriate kill rates. The
Lanchester system was developed by F.W. Lanchester and consists of differential equations
where surviving combat units are defined by variables. This papers will focus on the Square
Law and a series of questions will be answered throughout. The interactive tool created can be
seen in Appendix B of this report as well as the code which is still under development. As you will
note while using the tool, for some cases a forcewill go negative, but that is not correct when in
fact the variable should be at zero. This issue can be worked around and will be something that is
corrected in the near future.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the Y forces send at least 60 more personnel on the 20th unit of time then the battle will only go
for another 26 units and the Y force will cause X to retreat due to lack of force and rate. On the
other hand, if the X force sent another 10 soldiers then this battle would be over and the X force
would have won at 20 units of time. See Appendix A for graphs of X forces winning at 20 units
and Y force winning at 46 units with an additional 60 soldiers in Figures 9 and 10.
In summary, the Lanchester square law model is a simple but very informative model. It gives
the combat analyst a better understanding of forces against rates over time. I found it very
effective making a simple interactive tool to better understand how different rates and forces vary
outcomes over a specific amount of time. It was very impressive to see that the approximate and
exact values having such a low percent error as

51. Compare The Rate Of Osmotic Pressure Between Tap Water And...
AIM: Measuring the rate of osmotic pressure between tap water and surcose solutions. This will
happen by using different concentrations of sucrose (20%, 40%, 60%) afterwards, the change in
mass ratio would be observed over time. Other factors affect the rate of osmosis, factors like, pH,
Temperature and also pressure.
Hypothesis: With predictions, the dialysis bag acting as a semi permeable membrane in the
prescence of sucrose solution, where the water potential is high would cause the mass to increase
whereas if they had the same water potential, there will be no change in mass over time.
Question: Can water move through a dyalsysis bag?

Place all apparatus on the table and commence the practical. With a beaker, label each a bag
from the range 1 5 for the water and sucrose solutions. Beaker 1 5 would contain the 10ml of tap
water while beakers 2, 3 4 would contain the sucrose solution of 20%, 40% 60% respectively.
Bag1 5 Containing tap water Handling the dialysis bag which acts as a semi permeable
membrane, put it inside the 1st beaker which is containing the 10ml of tap water then leave in the
beaker for 10mins timed by a stopwatch. After the ten minutes interval, remove the bag from the
beaker and place on the weighing scale and record the weighted mass of the bag. Repeat
experiment six times with an increament of ten minutes for each experiment and recording the
weight of the bags for every 10mins.
Bags 2,3 4 Containing Sucrose Solution (20%,40% 60%) In this experiment, the same procedures
used to handle the bags that were dipped in the tap water would be repeated but in this situation,
instead of tap water, sucrose solution was used i.e to investigate the rate of osmosis in a sucrose
solution. Same techniques would be repeated and the mass of the bag would be recorded after a
ten minutes interval and the experiment would be repeated six times over

52. Ready For Junior Year
To begin with, so far I started off on the right track this year and I m satisfied about it. There this
one question that has been constantly repeating itself on my head. Am I ready for junior year? I
been asking this question to myself constantly this school year. I believe that I m not ready for
junior year. The reason why I m saying this is because I feel like there a lot more concepts to know
of to be certified to myself that I m ready for junior year. Which is understandable to me because I
know myself if I m ready or not.
Moreover, I believe that there s still a lot to learn. Last year this question had come up around this
time period which around that time I thought was ready for sophomore year. However, I was wrong
because later on

53. Using Plastic Bag Levies On Plastic Bags Essay
In recent time green taxes have been implemented by many governments throughout the world in an
attempt to change consumers behaviour in order to achieve environmental sustainability s. One of
the most successful implementations of a green tax in recent times would be the levies on plastic
bags throughout European in the last decade. This paper will analyse why certain green taxes such
as plastic bag levies are successful compare to other measures such as fuel duties and to what effect
factors such the price elasticityof demand has on consumer behaviour and thus the effectiveness of
such taxes.
Word count 1890
According to the Green Fiscal Commission, green taxes are levies imposed on certain processes
or goods which produce significant amounts of pollution, in order to change the way, the public
consumes these goods. Ever since the introduction of the first green taxes, such as the fuel duty
escalator in the UK right up until the introduction of plastic bag levy, the success of such taxes
in changing behaviour has been debated. (Green Fiscal Commission, 2009). In essence the
success of such taxes in changing consumer behaviour depends on the price elasticity of the good
and the consumers willingness to pay for a good. For a tax to be successful demand must fall by a
lower proportion than the rise in price, which means the tax induced price will increase tax revenue
as well as lessen the environmental impact of the good. (Green Fiscal Commission, 2009).

56. A Speech On Bombay Poona Road
After he finished, he held me in his arms, his heavy lips like a hippopotamus arrested my lips,
took me to his bar room and opened a scotch, thereafter he started playing around with dirty
jokes, poked at me with his utterly foolish orgies, spin my nipples, glasses after glasses
continued making the rounds, I must appreciate he was a connoisseur of hard liquor, despite
getting drunk heavily, he had the courage to walk straight and not a word bubbled from his mouth.
It was well past 10:30 P.M, Bombay after a feverish day prepared to go for a sleep midst of cool
breeze. Looking through my half empty glass I proposed, Shouldn t we go for a long drive before
we take our dinner? He pondered for a moment and said, It will be fantastic,... Show more content

Blood oozed out like a big water dam splitting into two and the gushing water taking away with
force all it can find in its path. From top to bottom I was doused in a puddle of blood. A few
minutes later Jaywant stopped his taxi and I came shivering out of the car with the revolver in
my hand and boarded the taxi and asked him to take me to the hospital immediately. The
moment he saw me splashed with blood he lost his wits, his sound blew like a typhoon. His
reasoning and intellect took a straight nosedive and asked me with a bewildered eye, tongue in
cheek, what the hell you have done, murdered the minister, do you know how well connected he
is? I said, Jaywant, this not the ideal time to ask any questions, I will let you know everything
once I am out of the hospital. Now first arrange some water so that I can wash and change into
hospital clothes, let my all the clothes be consigned to flame and I am handing you with a
revolver and a dagger to keep safely with you . After going for some miles, he arranged four big
water bottles from a roadside hotel, at a secluded place I washed, changed my clothes and with
the help of petrol my all the clothes with blood marks were burnt. Jaywant cleared all the blood
stains in his taxi with his trembling hands and perhaps must, have hurled at me within his heart the
choicest abuses. He drove at a good speed and by 01:45 AM at night, I was in the hospital room

57. My Life With Drinking Water
9:15. This is the time that I awoke on yet another seemingly average Thursday morning. I
groggily force myself to rise from the warm sanctuary of my multiple blankets and pillows in
order to start my day. After the hour or so of preparing for the day ahead, I decide that it is time to
hydrate myself by drinking water. However, this is not just any ordinary water. It is Dasani, my
favorite affordable brand of bottled water. As I reach my refrigerator, I am met with immense
dismay as I learn that my supply has been emptied out. Seeing as though I typically go grocery
shopping anyway on Thursdays, this disappointment did not ruin my day. I go through my day
as usual by going to my classes for the day. When they end, I prepare for my journey out to the
store. I must find the one thing I allow to quench my thirst, Dasani. I go through the local
Kroger as usual, picking up any food that I find will last me and my roommate for a week or
two. Then, I enter the beverage aisle. My entire day has been leading up to this moment. I speed
past the numerous sugary options and head straight to the bottled water. My eyes scan through
the various options. After a few seconds of intense searching, my eyes lock onto the green and
blue packaging of the reliable bottled water, Dasani. As if it was a reflex, my body rushes towards
the case and lifts up the slightly heavy twenty four case of the bottled water. While handing the
cashier money in exchange for my groceries, I begin to wonder why I
