Othello And Iago Relationship Analysis
One of the major components in Othello, that Shakespeare incorporated throughout the play, is
relationships. These relationships are driven by different motivations and give each individual
something unique. Each character contributes disparate factors to their relationships and change from
scenario to scenario. The presentation of different relationships in Othello represents many of the
underlying motifs of the play. Othello and Iago s relationship, the most prominent relationship,
represents the duality of the play. Othello believes that Iago is helping him and guiding him to be a
better person; however, Iago is using Othello to get his way. Iago is annoyed that he didn t receive
promotion from general Othello ( Relationships in Othello ). Iago is dissatisfied with Othello s choice
because he believes he deserves the promotion. Iago becomes vengeful and devises a plan to enact his
revenge. I follow him to serve my turn upon him (Shakespeare). Iago is shown to only serve Othello
for his own purposes. Othello cannot see through the facade that Iago has put up and follows him
blindly. Othello trusts Iago totally as Iago has a reputation in Venice for being very honest (
Relationships in Othello ). Moreover, Othello calls Iago Honest Iago on multiple occasions in the play.
Othello is shown to believe that Iago is honest and trustworthy by Shakespeare to emphasize the
duality of the relationship between Iago and Othello. Their relationship is a major aspect in

Why Did Scotland Become So Popular In The Uk Essay
Essay Scotland s nationalism and SNP
The Scottish national party is a Scottish political party who was founded in 1934. Even though the
parties breakthrough didn t come before the 1960s when they for the first time won a seat in the
parliament. Since then the party got more and more popular for each election. In 1974, they were the
second largest party in Scotland, with their campaign and slogan its Scotland s oil . Today they are an
even bigger party, and is a clear majority in the Scottish parliament with 69 of 129 seats. The Scottish

Scotland, who long had dreamed of their independence, suddenly saw a golden opportunity. The oil,
could give them the money it would take to survive on their own without being controlled by England.
Scotland got inspired by the Scandinavian countries, which only consists of five million habitants, but
still are one of the world s most successful countries, especially Norway with made a fortune on their
north sea industry. Scotland s dream wasn t realistic, though. The union ended up splitting the money,
and Scotland started to dislike being in union with England even more when they have an open chance
to succeed if they were on their own. The fact that Margaret Thatcher wasted a lot of the North Sea oil
revenues on paying for tax cuts and unemployment benefits when it could have been used to rebuild
industry or national infrastructure, didn t help on the Scott s anger. In 1979, The Scots become asked
whether they wanted a Scottish parliament or not, 52% of voters said they did but the number was too
low to accept it. Years went by, the and in 1997, over 74% of Scots voted for a parliament, which

grip, because even though they have their own parliament, they don t have the right to say much.

Religious Freedom In The United States
There are many things that comply to the importance of religious freedom. Many of which we take for
granted. If anything, it is our fundamental right to have this freedom, for everyone. There are even a
few laws that comply to religious freedom, for example the 1998 International Religious Freedom Act
(IRFA) , this law issues to the United States to criticize mistakes that comply to religious freedom. It
also helped advocate the right of religious freedom.
Even though Congress thought it was essential in the IRFA to make clear how easily we can forget
how important our religious freedom is. Many people take advantage of our religious freedom, or they
just don t care. Take for example people who don t go to church. One thing wrong with this ... Show

Religious freedom isn t just being able to practice whatever religion you want, it also complies to the
separation a church and state. This meaning that the government has absolutely no right to punish us
for doing something non Christian in the church. So in theory, they can not punish us for committing
sins within the church. Back in 1700, they would use pillories to humiliate the sinner, or even if the sin
was bad enough, hang them. Other punishments back in 1700 include; having a T branded into their
hand for theif , being whipped multiple times, or just normal public humiliation.
Of course some of these are harsh punishments, like hanging them for committing a simple sin. That s
why religious freedom is so important, if it wasn t for religious freedom, the world as we know it
wouldn t be like the way it is today. Many people of the world don t have religious freedom like we do
and they have to constantly hide their worships, if they get caught, well it s most likely off with their
head. Most people take this for granted, but once you get to thinking about it, you realize just how

Case Study on the California High Speed Rail System Essay
A Case Study on the California High Speed Rail System (CAHSR) Is It Feasible? By Hardeep
Ramesh, MS ISE Engineering Economics (ISE 460) University of Southern California December 3,
2010 Abstract: California High Speed Rail (CHSR) system is a mega project planned by the California
High Speed Rail Authority (CA HSRA), connecting the major metropolitan areas of California. The
project finalized in mid 2000, is estimated to be one of the most expensive of its kind. It is in the lines
of the high speed rail systems existing in France, Japan and China. The cost of the total project, which
will cover around 800 miles, is estimated to be around $45 billion as of 2008. At this time of economic
instability and no proper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The capital and operating maintenance costs are much easily determined using the data available from
the data from CA HSRA. Sources of benefits: 1. Intercity passenger revenue; 2. Benefits to both
intercity and urban high speed train passengers (net of fares paid); 3. Reduction of airside delay for air
passengers; 4. Reduction in aircraft operating costs; 5. Reduction of highway delay for both intercity
and urban auto trips; and 6. Reduction of accident and air pollution costs from intercity and urban auto
trips. This analysis is done assuming the benefits accrued in the year 2050. The costs are evaluated
from the year 2011 the proposed time of starting the project, while the benefits are calculated from the
year 2020 the expected time of launching the project. The estimated streams of benefits and costs
occurring each year between 2011 and 2050 were discounted to their present value and summarized to
calculate the benefit cost ratio. The discount rate is a means of calculating a value now of benefits that
occur in the future. The discount rate recognizes the time value of money. A four percent real discount
rate is used in the calculations. However, the high speed train project would be economically feasible
even under the higher discount rates used by some public agencies and economists. The Internal Rate
of Return (IRR) is an evaluation measure that is

Mao Cultural Revolution
A. Plan of Investigation
In 1966, Mao mobilized the Chinese youth to initiate the Cultural Revolution , a violent process
eliminating old Chinese culture, customs, thoughts and habits, purging counter revolutionary party
members, and heightening Mao s personality cult. I will summarize evidence collected from
textbooks, official documents, biographies and eyewitness reports about the events between 1959 and
1966. I will describe the failure of the Great Leap Forward, Mao s resignation as president, his power
struggle with Liu Shoaqi and Deng Xiaoping and the propagating of his personality cult. Then I will

Furthermore, at the Conference of 7000 in 1964, instead of supporting Mao, Liu gave a speech

Mao.
2. Establishment of the personality cult
Mao s lack of public appearances after 1958 had damaged his image and his authority. Since 1963, the
Little Red book ( Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse tung ), compiling Mao s statements on his
views and ideology, had been a standard Chinese text, and his personality cult was systematically
fostered by Lin Biao , his faithful Minister of Defence, using various forms of propaganda and giving
him popular titles such as The red sun rising in the East . Mao re entered public life on 16 July 1966
with an appearance of him swimming in the Yangtze River, to promote his strength. He frenzied the
admiration of the Chinese youth, which he was hoping to mobilize for revolutionary purposes.

Oikonomia In The Catholic Church
Unfortunately divorce has become a prevalent problem in the western world and Catholic Christians
have not been immune to the issue. A survey conducted by the Center for Applied Research in the
Apostolate, notes that, Twenty three percent of adult Catholics have gone through a divorce , and of
that percentage approximately, Eleven percent of adult Catholics have divorced and are currently
either remarried, living with a partner, or widowed (Catholic Culture). Thus, almost one out of every
four Catholics has been divorced and of that number ten percent have remarried or live in sin . This is
problematic for those Catholics because they are no longer allowed to participate sacramentally in the
Church. More to the point, participating in the activities that truly identify themselves as Catholic,
partaking in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Sacrament of the Eucharist, are no longer
available to divorced Catholics who are living with another and remarried Catholics who did not avail
themselves of an annulment. Is there a solution, that is scripturally and theologically grounded, that
may offer divorced and remarried Catholics an opportunity to return to the fold of the Catholic
Church? The Orthodox Church ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Only the first marriage is celebrated as a true sacrament (Chiesa). The marriage party still must
petition the church authorities for the right to remarry. As opposed to the Catholic belief that the
marriage must be civilly ended (divorce) before the annulment process can begin, in the Orthodox
faith, all that is needed is the granting of the divorce by church authorities. From there, permission to

Oregon Shooting at Umpqua College On October 1, 2015, a tragic and senseless shooting occurred in
Oregon at Umpqua Community College that led to the death of eight students and one assistant
professor (Vanderhart). Immediately following the shooting, the all too familiar flurry of promises and
apologies crowded the air alongside the sorrow and mourning that came to fruition. Berating the
attacker, politicians mentioned how this behavior would not be tolerated and needed to be stopped.
Somehow this has become routine, President Obama said on the shootings. The reporting is routine.

Considering that the United States has an extremely high number of firearms per capita and very
flimsy gun laws, these statistics cannot be said to exist without reason (Sanders). Even worse is that
the problem has only exacerbated in current years, continuing a trend that has insidiously been
creeping up on the United States. As indicated in Figure 1, an analysis from the Harvard School of
Public Health and Northeastern University showed that the average time between a shooting from
2011 2014 was approximately two hundred days. Similarly, the average between 2011 and 2014 was
just a measly sixty four days (Chalabi). Even more surprising is that amongst all the raucous, the
general sentiment towards guns in the U.S. has become largely pro ownership. Google Trends, which
is a product of Google Inc., shows how often a particular search phrase is input compared to the total
search volume across numerous regions across the planet. Its results indicate that over the years,
sentiment has shifted from gun control to ownership (Google). Perhaps the reason for this shift is an
indicator of patience running out for certain politicians that have sworn to increase safety by taking
guns from the hands

Dying By Benjy Compson
Family has a very complex definition. It can be stripped of its value by being described simply as a
blood connection, something with only dna binding you to each other. It can be associated as a money
source or just strangers that live in the same vicinity as you. Family could just be a never ending list of
people who you don t truly know or seem to care about. Yet, family can also be something of deep
enriching and emotional connection. You don t necessarily have to be blood related but, you can form
a connection that can t be broken no matter how broken of a situation you may be in. Family in many

Every day and every night Dilsey cooked, cleaned, and cared for the Compson family. The children
knew the she was their maid but, they respected her wishes and requests. Caddy was the most
rebellious in her attempts for control over Dilsey s word but, when she confronted Dilsey she would
always ask her for control, as opposed to how her usual Father said to mind me tonight, when
speaking to her brothers (32). While Caddy knows the distinct difference of black and white folk she
sets aside the physical separation when she speaks to Dilsey (33). She along with everyone else in the
household sees Dilsey as an important piece to holding the family together. She knows everything
there is to know about everyone all the way up until the end, she even quotes I seed de beginnin, en
now I sees de endin, when describing where the Compson family stands at the end of the novel (297).
Dilsey is literally visualized as the backbone of the family because she sticks around until the very
end. She and her family could have packed up and left any time but, she decides to stay, even after
Caddy is banished, Quentin grows up and dies, and when father passes away. While characters such as
Jason and Ms. Quentin occasionally point out her race and status as a maid, she is still characterized as
someone who people go to for support. Faulkner uses Dilsey as the backbone of the

The World s Columbian Exposition
The World s Columbian Exposition to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus s
arrival in the New World was held in Chicago in 1893. With the crowding of people, tourists have a
high demand for a place to stay during their visit. A young man by the name of H.H. Holmes decides
to open up a large hotel during the Columbian Exposition to bring in extra money. Little did his
customers know that the man they are staying with would soon become one of the first documented
serial killers. Many aspects throughout Holmes s life formed him into the kind of person he turned out
to be. Influences from his childhood, his greed for money and power, and his intelligence gave him the
ability to construct his Murder Castle and carry out the numerous killings. Studies show that children s
most formative years are from birth to age five. Born as Herman Webster Mudgett on May 16, 1861,
Holmes showed signs at a very early age of great intelligence. He was raised as a Methodist in the
small town of Gilmanton, New Hampshire. His father, Levi Mudgett, was a violent alcoholic. This
sort of upbringing with a brutal father like Holmes had is one of the many influences in Holmes s
childhood that shaped him into the kind of person he would soon become. Holmes started school at
the age of six, but it was not an easy experience for him. He was constantly bullied by the older kids

The Process Of Conducting Research
Procedure
The process of conducting research is to gather information that relates to your I search question. The
I search question that I am seeking answers to happens to be; what is the definition of family in today
s society? There are many methods of investigation that can be used to answer this question, but I
have limited it to eight methods. The eight methods I have chosen are going to give me in depth
information about my purposed I search question.
The first method of investigation for my I search project that would best help me gather information
for my project is interviewing both in person and by email. The interview process is beneficial to my
project because it gives me in depth and comprehensive information. The interviews will consist of
ordinary people in todays, society both younger and older the young will be aged from four to thirty
and old will consist of anyone over thirty. I am doing the interviews to gain answers to my secondary
questions which are based on gender and age. Also interviews provide personal experiences and better
understanding of the subject matter in this case family.
The second method of investigation will be scholarly journals. I am using journals because family is a
big topic to be covered and it has been discussed and written about over many years. Many
psychologists have written about what defines a family and how it has changed over time. These
Journals will help me show that the definition is outdated and how it should be

The Chrysler Building Essay
Today technology allows us to construct structures that we would never have been able to make in the
past. Some of the creations are impressive based on what they accomplish but others are masterpieces
in themselves. Man s capability to build such tall buildings, as the skyscrapers we are familiar with
covering our cities today, is a major expression of the advancements we have made as a culture. The
power necessary to build such tall structures inspired competition between architects to see who could
build the tallest one. One skyscraper that has inspired many and served as a model, for high rise
buildings that were created after, is the Chrysler Building. The Chrysler Building serves as an
identifying mark to anyone that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although these problems were corrected and the idea of building a skyscraper became a feasible task,
there were many conditions that had to be taken into account, that did not need consideration when
building a structure less than 40 stories tall. Four story buildings are supported by their own walls;
however a new method needed to be created for skyscrapers since the previous building method would
not provide enough support. Metal skeletal frames made of columns and beams were then developed
to provide the support and strength needed for the skyscrapers. As the buildings grew taller, their
structural design was made lighter and stiffer. Also, as the buildings grew taller, wind became an
important issue. Normally, the force that acts on the skyscraper pushes directly downward towards the
ground that would then counter balance that push. However, when an additional force acts on it, such
as wind, the forces would act differently on the skyscraper. With a lateral force acting on the building,
the steel columns of the frame on the windy side would stretch apart slightly while the columns on the
other side would compress. Therefore, the skeletal frame built had to be made so that the structure
would be free to move slightly with the wind and, at the same time, remain sturdy.
The initial plan for this particular skyscraper built on

Achievement Goals As A Measure Of Motivation
The article Achievement Goals as a Measure of Motivation in University Students talked about the
difference in performance goals and mastery goals in students currently enrolled in universities. The
article described a performance goal is one that is associated to a specific outcome; For example,
passing your first chemistry exam. Performance goals are more common with short term goals solely
because the majority of the time they aren t something you can do continuously. On the other hand, a
mastery goal is described as one that you set in order to show you your comprehension of a certain
topic or task; for instance, instead of passing your chemistry exam, you want to fully understand
chemistry and become a master.
Throughout high school, I was the kind of student that always did the bare minimum but knew that I
could do better. I never did my homework, and I the only test I have ever studied for was my SAT
because I knew that was my only option to get into this university. After reading this article, I realized
that all I was doing was setting an academic alienation goal which meant I was choosing to perform
tasks that required the minimum amount of effort, which is turn was just setting my up to fail, and
even though it wasn t really saying that I wanted to fail, that s what I was doing.

Abstract Social data analysis could be a kind of analysis during Which individuals add a social,

The Vampire Chronicles Vs. Twilight Saga
The Vampire Chronicles vs The Twilight Saga Do you prefer The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice or
The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer? This question can lead into a huge argument due to the
opinions of who answers the question. A person can guess the answer by the age of the people. The
older generation would suggest The Vampire Chronicles because it tells the tale of the true vampires,
such as the human blood suckers that only comes out at night. While the younger generation would
suggest The Twilight Saga because it shows that vampires can be like regular people. Although there
are some major differences between The Vampire Chronicles and The Twilight Saga, the similarities
are shocking. For people who forgot or don t know about these two novels, these novels are about the
lives of vampires. The Vampire Chronicles (1976 2003) is by Anne Rice. Her novels are series that
tells the story of a French nobleman named Lestate de Lioncourt who transformed into a vampire in

Edward Cullen. Both of these novel series has turned into the big screen including Interview with a

Similarities Between Alice Through The Looking Glass And...
The movie Alice through the Looking Glass and the book The City of Ember are very similar. They
are similar in conflict, and the main characters. But they are also different in theme. Alice through the
looking glass is about a girl who tryings to go back in time to save her friend, The Mad Hatter. Lina is
a girl who is stuck in a city underground and tries to get out using a passageway. These two may
sound different but they are actually the same. The theme of Alice through the Looking Glass would
be that you can t change the past but you can learn from it. Alice learned that when she tried to stop
the Red Queen in the past. This led the Red Queen from turning evil. The theme of The City of Ember
would be to never give up on your dreams, because Lina thought there was a way to get out of the city
when no one believed her. But, there was a way out. As you can see the themes between these two
stories are different. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alice faces this when the Red Queen was against her. Time was also against Alice. Time was mad at
Alice when she took the Chronosphere. Time was mad because the Chronosphere could destroy Time
itself. Lina faced society when the mayor and the city all disagreed with her about finding a way out
of Ember. Even though Lina was right in the end, only her friend was on her side. All of the city tried
to tell Lina that the only light in the world is Ember and the rest is darkness. Lina found a way to use
the pipeworks to find a way out with a map. The conflict is the same but, the concept is

Urinary Tract Infection And Its Effect On The Body System
Urinary Tract Infection and its Effect on the Body System Urinary tract infection also referred to as
UTI is the second most common infection in the body. The urinary tract system in your body which
includes the bladder and kidneys makes urine and carries it out of your body. When germs get into the
urinary tract system an infection is typically formed. UTI s are usually caused when unwanted bacteria
enters through the urethra and begins to multiply (www.mayoclinic.org). The bacteria that are
normally found in the large intestine and feces are the most common source of a UTI. Sexual
intercourse is one of the common causes of urinary tract infections for women, causing bacteria to
move up into the urinary tract. Sometimes in a hospital setting a patient who is on a catheter can also
get a urinary tract infection. The two types of urinary tract infections are infection of the bladder
(Cystitis) and infection of the urethra (urethritis). Cystitis is a type of UTI which is caused by
Escherichia coli, a type of bacteria that is normally found in the gastrointestinal tract
(www.webmd.com). Although sexual intercourse can cause this type of urinary tract infection, it doesn
t necessarily mean that you have to be sexually active to develop it. Every female is at risk for this
type of UTI due to the shortness of distance from the urethral opening to the bladder and the urethra to
the anus. Urethritis is a type of UTI which typically occurs when bacteria from the GI tract is

The Power Of Power In Kindred By Octavia Butler
As Boss Tweed used to say, The way to have power is to take it. Therefore, it is not surprising that the
characters of Kindred by Octavia Butler fight throughout the book to gain power from each other.
They all use methods ranging from violence to influence to gain even a slight amount of power from
each other. Even Alice and Dana who are enslaved women during the 1800 s are able to use their
words to influence their owners and the powerful white men in society. Like other black women
during this time period, they use their bodies and other unconventional methods to slowly gain power
over their owners until they are able to influence them to do what they want. Henceforth, Butler wants
to demonstrate to the reader that, even during the antebellum south, enslaved women were able to use
their influence, resilience and courage to eventually gain power over their owners. Alice ultimately
has the most power in the book. She might seem like the most powerless character because of her
ethnicity and gender, but her resilience and ability to influence others makes her the most omnipotent.
For instance, she was abused, threatened, and even raped by Rufus; but her constraint of giving him
the one thing that he wanted made her hold the power over him. It all started when Rufus raped Alice
for the first time and therefore was almost beaten to death by her fiance. Due to him being a slave
Alice and her fiance decided to just get away, (119) before Rufus woke up and got him killed but

ELL Student Observation Sample
Over the summer, I was able to observe an ELL students through the children s Sunday school at my
church. I work Sunday school about once a month and I have had the pleasure of working with James,
who was born in Mexico and moved to Florida when he was 6 months old. He is 8 years old now and
has come so far since he moved here. The church I go to is also a school so James was a student there
as well. When I spoke to James he did not seem any different from the other students. Since he has
practically lived in Florida his whole life, he understood and spoke English pretty well. His parents
only spoke Spanish though, so he still spoke Spanish with them.
James is such a pleasure to have around, he has the sweetest heart and gives to his friends ... Show

He understood the meaning of the words he was speaking. My favorite time with him was when we
were reading a Bible story about God s love and he turned to me and said I am so happy God loves me
because I love him too! Even though love is also a feeling, he was able to connect it to his own life
and give it meaning. Syntax on the other hand was a little more challenging for him because he could
not form good complete sentences. There would usually be a small error when he would talk, like
forgetting words like it and the. I tried helping him with this by correcting him and every time I did he
would say Oh yeah, I forgot and he would continue with his story.
James was a talker and if you gave him a subject to talk about he would do anything to keep talking,
even make up everything. He had great discourse because he was really able to talk about something
forever. Now, what he is saying may not be true but he will try to tell you everything he knows about
the subject. He was also very good at writing stories. He told me that when he goes home, he writes
stories on his Mom s Ipad. Since he was great at telling stories he was pretty good at pragmatics. He
could have a normal back and forth conversation. James would always answer any questions you may

Segal, Robert. The Romantic Appeal of Joseph Campbell. The Romantic Appeal of Joseph Campbell.
N.p, n.d. Web. 07 July 2016.
This website consisted of a few errors in Campbell s theory. The theory proposes that Campbell
wrongly pits myth against religion and it proves to be a damaging weakness to his theory. He assumes
that in the West, not in the East, religion inevitably literalizes and historicizes myth. The website
explores the bias toward religion in Campbell s theory and argues the necessity and importance of
religion. It also questions where Campbell draws the line between myth and religion, despite all the
praise that Campbell has received for his findings.

Making this happen is never easy, but it can t be done at all without leaders who have the authority to
break the ties between groups and individuals who have different visions of what should be done.
There is no better way to do this than through traditional hierarchy. Along with that, it may not be
cost, time or quality abiding to let everyone roam free without direction. The right blend and balance
for any one particular organization will depend on the pace of change in the industry, the capabilities
of the employees, and the resources available to take action. The need for leadership will always exist.
There will always be a need for visionaries, people who can influence others, and people who can
execute. Cons. While hierarchies were the favored form of organizing in the past, they should not be
the key design in business. Hierarchies, characterized by tight controls, centralized decision making,
and clear cut job descriptions, often alienate employees and promote an individualistic work mentality.
Traditional management systems are increasingly a vanishing breed, no longer valuable or relevant in
today s increasingly human capital centric workplace. The lack of job descriptions, flatter
organizations, and flexible approach would likely fit better for organizational environments that are
new, immature, or very rapidly evolving. With a lightning fast pace of change, constraining job

  • 2. Othello And Iago Relationship Analysis One of the major components in Othello, that Shakespeare incorporated throughout the play, is relationships. These relationships are driven by different motivations and give each individual something unique. Each character contributes disparate factors to their relationships and change from scenario to scenario. The presentation of different relationships in Othello represents many of the underlying motifs of the play. Othello and Iago s relationship, the most prominent relationship, represents the duality of the play. Othello believes that Iago is helping him and guiding him to be a better person; however, Iago is using Othello to get his way. Iago is annoyed that he didn t receive promotion from general Othello ( Relationships in Othello ). Iago is dissatisfied with Othello s choice because he believes he deserves the promotion. Iago becomes vengeful and devises a plan to enact his revenge. I follow him to serve my turn upon him (Shakespeare). Iago is shown to only serve Othello for his own purposes. Othello cannot see through the facade that Iago has put up and follows him blindly. Othello trusts Iago totally as Iago has a reputation in Venice for being very honest ( Relationships in Othello ). Moreover, Othello calls Iago Honest Iago on multiple occasions in the play. Othello is shown to believe that Iago is honest and trustworthy by Shakespeare to emphasize the duality of the relationship between Iago and Othello. Their relationship is a major aspect in ... This meaning that the government has absolutely no right to punish us for doing something non Christian in the church. So in theory, they can not punish us for committing sins within the church. Back in 1700, they would use pillories to humiliate the sinner, or even if the sin was bad enough, hang them. Other punishments back in 1700 include; having a T branded into their hand for theif , being whipped multiple times, or just normal public humiliation. Reduction in aircraft operating costs; 5. Reduction of highway delay for both intercity and urban auto trips; and 6. Reduction of accident and air pollution costs from intercity and urban auto trips. The estimated streams of benefits and costs occurring each year between 2011 and 2050 were discounted to their present value and summarized to calculate the benefit cost ratio. The discount rate is a means of calculating a value now of benefits that occur in the future. The discount rate recognizes the time value of money. Although these problems were corrected and the idea of building a skyscraper became a feasible task, there were many conditions that had to be taken into account, that did not need consideration when building a structure less than 40 stories tall. Four story buildings are supported by their own walls; however a new method needed to be created for skyscrapers since the previous building method would not provide enough support. Metal skeletal frames made of columns and beams were then developed to provide the support and strength needed for the skyscrapers. As the buildings grew taller, their structural design was made lighter and stiffer. Also, as the buildings grew taller, wind became an important issue. Normally, the force that acts on the skyscraper pushes directly downward towards the ground that would then counter balance that push. However, when an additional force acts on it, such as wind, the forces would act differently on the skyscraper. With a lateral force acting on the building, the steel columns of the frame on the windy side would stretch apart slightly while the columns on the other side would compress. Therefore, the skeletal frame built had to be made so that the structure would be free to move slightly with the wind and, at the same time, remain sturdy. • 24. The Power Of Power In Kindred By Octavia Butler As Boss Tweed used to say, The way to have power is to take it. Therefore, it is not surprising that the characters of Kindred by Octavia Butler fight throughout the book to gain power from each other. They all use methods ranging from violence to influence to gain even a slight amount of power from each other. Even Alice and Dana who are enslaved women during the 1800 s are able to use their words to influence their owners and the powerful white men in society. Like other black women during this time period, they use their bodies and other unconventional methods to slowly gain power over their owners until they are able to influence them to do what they want. Henceforth, Butler wants to demonstrate to the reader that, even during the antebellum south, enslaved women were able to use their influence, resilience and courage to eventually gain power over their owners. Alice ultimately has the most power in the book. She might seem like the most powerless character because of her ethnicity and gender, but her resilience and ability to influence others makes her the most omnipotent. For instance, she was abused, threatened, and even raped by Rufus; but her constraint of giving him the one thing that he wanted made her hold the power over him. It all started when Rufus raped Alice for the first time and therefore was almost beaten to death by her fiance. Due to him being a slave Alice and her fiance decided to just get away, (119) before Rufus woke up and got him killed but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though love is also a feeling, he was able to connect it to his own life and give it meaning. Syntax on the other hand was a little more challenging for him because he could not form good complete sentences. There would usually be a small error when he would talk, like forgetting words like it and the. I tried helping him with this by correcting him and every time I did he would say Oh yeah, I forgot and he would continue with his story. James was a talker and if you gave him a subject to talk about he would do anything to keep talking, even make up everything. He had great discourse because he was really able to talk about something forever. Now, what he is saying may not be true but he will try to tell you everything he knows about the subject. He was also very good at writing stories. He told me that when he goes home, he writes stories on his Mom s Ipad. Since he was great at telling stories he was pretty good at pragmatics. He could have a normal back and forth conversation. James would always answer any questions you may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is no better way to do this than through traditional hierarchy. Along with that, it may not be cost, time or quality abiding to let everyone roam free without direction. The right blend and balance for any one particular organization will depend on the pace of change in the industry, the capabilities of the employees, and the resources available to take action. The need for leadership will always exist. There will always be a need for visionaries, people who can influence others, and people who can execute. Cons. While hierarchies were the favored form of organizing in the past, they should not be the key design in business. Hierarchies, characterized by tight controls, centralized decision making, and clear cut job descriptions, often alienate employees and promote an individualistic work mentality.
