Port Authority Clothing
Port Authority clothing remains in high demand, thanks in large part to its amazing styling. Upon
browsing this line, individuals find they can choose from a wide range of pieces, covering everything
from stylish to modern. The one thing all pieces have in common is their attention to durability and
design detail. Clothing tends to become expensive, particularly when the items are only to be worn in
the workplace. With these garments, the price remains affordable for all, and it has never been easier
to combine a style that is guaranteed to attract attention everywhere it is worn with a logo that helps to
increase brand awareness.

Individuals, in the past, were often limited in regards to what they wore, with many companies
requiring the donning of garments that sported the company logo. Although products were offered that

did so with great success. It didn t take long for the company to take off, and today Port Authority
clothing may be found in the workplace, at resorts, on golf courses and everywhere a person goes. The
clothes are so amazing, people want to wear them as opposed to being required to do so, and many
find the selection to be adequate for them to wear these clothes every day. They are no longer reserved

The Challenges And Resiliencies Of Latino Immigrant...
The current study is examining the challenges and resiliencies of Latino immigrant parents. This study
will be using a qualitative research design. This qualitative design will be accomplished through the
use of face to face and phone interviews. This current study seeks to answer the following questions:
What parental challenges do Latino immigrant parents face? What resiliencies do Latino immigrant
parents obtain? What resources/services do Latino immigrant parents feel they need? What parenting
skills, styles, and/or knowledge have Latino immigrant parents used and were they effective in
producing positive child outcomes? One advantage of using a qualitative design is that the researchers
get more detailed and in depth answers. Another advantage of using a qualitative design is that more
complex questions can be asked. Researchers can also explain terms and questions in order to get the
most reliable answers. One limitation of using a qualitative design, is the limited number of
participants upon which the results are based. Without a large sample size, it is difficult to conclude
that the results will be generalized to a larger population size. Another limitation of this study is that
the research results will be based on self reports which limits the reliance on the data. Participants may
not truthfully report their behaviors and feelings. Participants may answer the interview questions with
socially acceptable answers. Participants may be inclined to change their

Brokeback Mountain compare and contrast Essay
First, I applaud the movie for daring to tell a story that nobody else presumed creating. Even in 2005,
this was a pretty prohibited thing to discuss. To its credit, the movie follows the original story fairly
close, but a details were left out that made all the difference.
The short story Brokeback Mountain (1997) written by Annie Proulx received a lot of attention when
it was first published in the New Yorker. The story is about the relationship between Jack Twist and
Ennis Del Mar, two cowboys who develop a forbidden love for each other and have to live separate
lives. They first meet when they both get hired to herd sheep on Brokeback Mountain in Wyoming.

They actually talk about it, how much better this is than with any woman. It shows them close, it
shows them getting personal, even discussing the possibility of running away together. The movie did
not discribe the emotional intimacy Jack and Ennis shared even before they had sex. Ennis s emotional
transformation in Jack s company appears in the book with the line, Ennis, riding against the wind
back to the sheep in the treacherous, drunken light, thought he d never had such a good time, felt he
could paw the white out of the moon. The deep friendship does not reveal in the movie, the way the
book does, which was the foundation for their love. (Walford, Compare/contrast the book vs. the
movie, ennisjack, 2006)
Alma take a quite big part in the short story, because of Ennis and his importance. As I mentioned
before, Ennis is more well portrayed than Jack and this makes Ennis and Alma s relationship more
evident. In December Ennis married Alma Beers and had her pregnant by mid January. This shows
how Alma is mentioned only because of Ennis. Whereas Jack and Laureen s relationship in the short
story is insignificant and unutterable. I got a boy, said Jack. Eight months old. Tell you what, I married
a cute little old Texas girls down in Childress Laureen. This is the only time Jack mention Laureen, the
others are Ennis trying to make him remember her. You got your baby and wife, that place in Texas. In

Population Trends In Canada
Examining population trends can help Canada in regards to planning for the future, particularly within
the health field. Looking at the population pyramids, a large portion of Canadas population are older
adults. (Clarke, 2016). It is also known that a large portion of older adults reside within their own
homes, 92.1% lived in private households...while 7.9% lived in collective dwellings (Statistics
Canada, 2011). Why it is though that living within one s home seems to be the common trend?
Perhaps living within a familiar community and neighborhood contributes to this choice. As older
adults age and experience the need to transition into a collective dwelling, how will the notion of
community and keeping these individuals in their community s ... Show more content on

An article that looked at patients within hospitals in Ontario found that, about ten percent of patients
waiting for a spot in long term care facility waited well over a year (Kondro, 2010). Therefore, it is
known that more long term care and community dwellings for older adults are needed. Although, the
constructions of more residences for older adults is important, location needs to be a priority when
building these facilities. For the health of the older population, new residences need to be built within
communities and neighborhoods. This will provide smoother transition into new living citations with
less stress. Staying within communities would allow for familiarity; having one s family doctors being
a short distance away, access public transportation, having the opportunity to continue attending
activities such as religious services. Also, remaining in one s community may allow for feelings of

Adam Smith Biography
The influence that philosophers have upon each other no intellectual historian will doubt. I don t think
it would be erroneous to say that Adam Smith admired Isaac Newton and imitated his method. In
discussing Isaac Newton s mechanical system of the universe, Smith praised Newton for scientifically
proving irregular and regular planetary motion by connecting celestial and terrestrial phenomena with
the principle of gravity. Smith writes, it was the greatest and most admirable improvement that was
ever made in philosophy. Furthermore he writes that Newton s principles have a degree of firmness
and solidity that we should in vain look for in any other system. In Skinner and Campbell s biography
of Adam Smith, they argue that Smith would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Smith writes: Systems in many respects resemble machines. A machine is a little system, created to
perform, as well as to connect together, in reality, those different movements and effects which the
artist has occasion for. A system is an imaginary machine invented to connect together in the fancy
those different movements and effects which are already performed. Also, Smith appears to be pleased
with the ability of Newton to explain phenomena that appeared unexplainable, by deducing it from
one principle known to mankind. Contrasting the methods of Aristotle with the methods of Newton in

Patient Care And The Medical Field
Patient care is one of the most important aspects of the medical field; it is also something that is
sometimes forgotten about. During my first few weeks of clinical I really started to understand why
patient care was something that we needed to know. In the beginning of my first term when I was
taking Patient Care everything that we were being taught seemed like common sense; keep the patient
warm, make sure they are comfortable, try to do the procedure accommodating to them, but as I went
out into the field those little extra efforts seemed to not be important. My first day opened my eyes to
how some medical professionals took care of their patients. As I was walking through the doors of the
radiology department, I was taking in the atmosphere. Everyone had a purpose and was moving
around like they were on a mission. The first patient I helped with was a man who was going in for
CT. This patient had had a history of being on illegal drugs and came into the ER a lot for pain
relievers. The technologists were not happy that this patient was back and was complaining of his
shoulder/clavicle area being hurt. I went down to the ER to get the patient with a technologist and as
they were talking to a nurse about this patient there was eye rolling and huffing from the both of them.
As we were placing him on the table the technologist was very rough with him, he was half crying
telling this technologist to being easy on this arm. The technologist just kept doing what they needed

Ethical Concerns Of Genetically Modified Organisms Essay
Ethical Concern and Genetically Modified (GM) Crops
Are Genetically Modified (GM) crops safe for environment? Might organisms and environment be
harmed by GM crops?
According to the World Health Organization (2014. 1), Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) can
be defined as organisms (i.e. plants, animals or microorganisms) in which the genetic material (DNA)
has been altered in a way that does not occur naturally by mating and/or natural recombination. The
technology is often called modern biotechnology or gene technology , sometimes also recombinant
DNA technology or genetic engineering . Foods produced from or using GM organisms are often
referred to as GM foods. Many organic crops farming farmers are against cultivating of GM crops
because of the threat to farm land and environment however, biotechnology companies and GM crops
growing famer desire to have profit and consumer look for low price. Thus, the debate over the
environmental impact of genetically modified GM crops is growing. Although GM crops negatively
affects on some organism in environment, they reduce the use of pesticides and increase crop yield.

Politics And Its Impact On Hispanics
Reflection Essay
PART 1
1. The presentation topic was to examine the impact of politics on Latino in United States by studying
various factors such as population, citizenship status, geographic location and age.
2. The presentation talked about one of the core issue, which is Politics in this case, that affected
Latino in USA. A thorough research was conducted to understand the causes and effects of politics
and how it moulded the growth of Latinos in this country.
3. The learning outcome was to understand the role of politics and its impact on Latinos living in
USA. To gain a better understanding of this some range of themes were introduced to help understand
the central issue. They are:
a. Population The Hispanic population increase of 15.2 million between 2000 and 2010 constituted
over half of the 27.3 million increase in the total population of the United States. During that time, the
Hispanic population grew by a full 43 percent, which was four times the growth in the overall
population growth of 10 percent. The reason why people care about the Latino vote is because of their
growth in numbers. However, for many low income, low education Hispanics, their focus is survival,
and issues like politics is not a priority. They represent 16 percent of the U.S. labor force.
b. Citizenship status Experts say uncertain citizenship weaken the Latino vote. In Texas only there are
2.1 million unregistered, eligible Latinos voters. Of 13.1 million Latinos immigrants in USA

Underage Drinking In America
Underage drinking is a very eminent problem for Americans today. Some may not know that the
human brain continues to develop until the age of twenty five. Underage drinking can weaken
neurological development, which could cause minors to make bad decisions, have memory loss,
slower thought processes, and even acquire irreversible brain damage. Drinking when your body and
mind are not fully developed can leave damaging effects on a person s social abilities, neurological
abilities, and overall health.
A youth s social abilities can be destroyed by underage drinking. Socialization skills are key when a
minor is growing up. A minor struggles to find their own independence and find themselves, therefore
creating a distance from family relationships and creating new bonds with peers. The youth tend to try
to be similar to each other to fit in with the rest, and as a result, children may be pressured into
drinking alcohol. When these minors start to drink heavily and frequently, they may develop self
esteem issues, depression, disorders, antisocial behavior, and anxiety. This makes underage drinkers
more withdrawn from their peers and families than their peers who choose not to drink. Peers who don
t drink do not tend to associate and be friends with the group of people that do drink. This can lead to
isolation and also disdain from those who do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there s more than enough facts to prove that statistically, underage drinking is a growing
problem among us. Adolescents drink less frequently than adults, but in opposition, youths also

alcohol while underage, and social, neurological, and health repercussions are just three out of
numerous effects. The hazards of underage drinking can only grow from here if there aren t more steps

A Brief Description of Sickle Cell Anemia

Medical Terminology 1
18, April 2013
Sickle Cell Anemia Sickle cell Anemia is a genetic blood disorder caused by the presence of an
abnormal form of hemoglobin molecules in which the red blood cells loose their disc shape and
become crescent shaped. The shape also known as hemoglobin S . unlike normal red cells which are
usually smooth and malleable, tend to collect after releasing oxygen, and cannot squeeze through
small blood vessels. The organs are then deprived of blood and oxygen. The basic life span of an
affected cell is generally from 1.5 to about 3 weeks, which represents approximately 10% to 20% of a

There is no cure for Sickle cell Disease and adults with the trait are wise to thoroughly consider the
possible effects of procreating with another person with the disease.
As in other areas of modern healthcare, advances in technology have facilitated its early detection.
Prenatal tests include Amniocentesis, and chorionic villus sampling. Fortunately some countries
require newborn screening for hemoglobin problems, including Sickle cell Anemia making the early
detection and preventive measures possible
There exists much research and numerous clinical trials to examine possible causes. There
unfortunately seems to exist somewhat of a hesitancy by the generally affected groups to participate in
any abative efforts. The general consensus is one of feelings of mistrust of government and science in
general. Furthering the knowledge of, and finding funding are at present the focus of several major
organizations. Further information can be found in literature, and on the websites of organizations
such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the American Sickle Cell Anemia Association

How and Why Did American Popular Culture Influence...
The 1950s and 1960s were times of unprecedented change, and Australian society was influenced
greatly by American popular culture, through various mediums, such as: music, film, television and
fashion. This especially affected teenagers. It will be explained how Australian society was impacted
by American popular culture, and also why American popular culture had such an affect. Australian
developed its own responses to these influences, and the extent of this will also be explored. The
1950s meant the emergence of the teenager; it also brought peace and prosperity to many. And during

Memory Accuracy Fades
Many people would swear that they are able to remember an event that happened to them with
complete accuracy. However, this may not always be the case. Over time, it is not uncommon for
people s memories to fade and deteriorate, but what many don t realize is that it s possible for
memories to actually transform themselves or be created entirely. With the possibility of memories
being changed or fabricated by the human mind, can memory really be trusted?
Most of us hold the view that memory is much like a tape recorder or video recorder, holding a
perfectly accurate record of what has been experienced. Nothing could be further from the truth
(Thompson and Madigan 6). Memory is amazing; however, the human memory system is far from
perfect, but it is most certainly adequate (Mlodinow 63). For the most part, it can be described as
being accurate and efficient. We may not intentionally change the details of our memories, but the
process of remembering changes our memories. Just as editing on a computer usually overwrites the
original file, revisiting an event can revise your memory (Kowalski 34). Details of events can be
subtracted from memories. Many factors can contribute to this including time and trauma (Laney and
Loftus 138). In fact, memories have the potential to be eliminated completely if the neuron carrying
them dies (Minirth 73). The mood a person possesses during an event can also affect the way it will be
remembered. For instance, if a person is in an

Equal In Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
In the poem Song of Myself Walt Whitman, the author of this poem states that all individuals are the
same because everything is made from the same thing. Born here of parents born here from parents
the same, and their parents the same (11.7). This example is proving that everyone is equal, no one is
better than anyone, and everyone is made of the same thing. This supports the assertions by letting the
readers know that everyone is equal. This is important because others may think that they re above
others because they re a specific race or skin color, but in reality, everyone is the same, no one is
above or better than anyone. For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you (11.3). This
quote is saying that everyone is made of atoms,

Disillusionment In The Jungle
In the politically righteous book, The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, a newly wed s feeling of innocence
and happiness after their beautiful wedding in their homeland come to an end following the reality of
discovering their new life in America. The notion comes from the disillusionment of American
freedom and the twisted advertisement of a capitalist system. America was systematically built to be
corrupt and dehumanized the significance of individual existence. This was done by easily replacing,
deceiving and exploiting people for the self interest of the wealthy.
The Jungle depicts the exploitation of immigrant lives in Packingtown, a town near Chicago. The

lives matter more than the meat and food industry. The world does not revolve around taking
advantage of the poor working class and treating them like active robots. Humans are living, not
inanimate.
Humans are the equivalent to animals in the meat industry for the purpose of profit. Jurgis tours the
slaughterhouse. He describes the detachment in the work environment with the slaughtering and
packaging of hogs. The hogs are not treated kindly or even thought of as animals just as sales. There
was a long line of hogs, being simultaneously swung up and then another, and another squealing] and
lifeblood ebbing away together. (Sinclair 39) There is an orderly way to set up the slaughterhouse to
distract the poor immigrants of the American lifestyle. The worker wants to give more to their family
and add to their financial status even if it means being away from their home country. Businesses take
advantage of workers valuing their work ethic more than the idea of being miserable at work so it is
done continuously with no remorse. This social construct was built and implied because no one could

The Accomplishment of Gertrude B. Elion
Elion accomplished a lot in her 81 years working. She started out teaching biochemistry at New York
hospital school of nursing, and then she was an unpaid chemistry lab assistant. She stuck with this job,
hoping to eventually get paid and even made $20 a week, which is one of the reasons she was able to
attend New York University (Koenig, 2006). She scrimped and saved and had help from her
boyfriend, Leonard Canter (McGrayne, 2002). While in school, she taught as a teacher in training as
well as a substitute (Elion, 1988). At the same time she was doing research for her Master s at night
and on the weekends to keep up. She eventually got a job doing analytical work for a food company.
She did gain excellent instrumentation skills in this job even though she thought of it as quite boring.
After this, Johnson and Johnson hired her, but that was short lived. Many people wanted to work with
Elion, but she refused many job offers and agreed to work with George Hitchings at Burroughs
Wellcome Company. IV: Scientific Contributions George Hitchings allowed Elion a lot more freedom.
She was able to perform research at her own pace, which she loved because she was highly motivated
to learn as much as possible, as fast as possible. She got involved with areas outside of chemistry, like
immunology, pharmacology, and virology (McGrayne, 2002). Little was known about enzymes or
nucleic acids at the time, so her main focus was on purines. Hitchings would always let Elion know

The Impact of Invasive Species on Ecosystems Essay
Influence on ecosystems range from human causes like the bulldozing of a forest to natural causes like
a fire or a flood. In recent times, the introduction and spread of invasive species has transformed
native communities rapidly and, in some cases, created irreversible damages. In the Earth s history,
changes have often occurred in the ecosystems. For example, glaciers and the retreat of glaciers cause
wide spread changes. However, although change is a constant in ecosystems, animals and habitats
often cannot adapt to the rapid alterations of non natural stresses. Harm to the environment from the
introduction of invasive species occurs through changes in the habitat and declines in the native
species. Invasive species ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Van Driesche, nonnative species are more likely to establish if they invade habitats with
lowered biotic resistance, encounter prey with poorly developed mechanisms of self defense, or
invade habitats unaccompanied by their specialized natural enemies or when their invasion is
facilitated by earlier invaders (2000). Damage to these communities, then, can be seen both in
cumulative effects and in a cycle of self reinforcement. Although pristine environments are still at risk
from invasion, this positive feedback loop makes habitats already with a disturbance by exotics even
more vulnerable to other invasions. With the increasing amount of disturbed habitats, invasive species
could soon become the leading cause of ecological degradation (Soulé Orians, 2001). Invasive species
can alter habitats in a number of ways. Changes in the physical structure of the land are the most
visually obvious. Examples include narrowing stream channels, reducing sand supply to dunes, and
stabilizing surfaces such as mudflats, and each invasive species goes about these changes in their own
way. For instance, the burrowing activities of Australian isopods cause the banks of tidal channels to
collapse, leading to the widening of channels and the loss of vegetated salt marsh (Cox, 1999). On the
other hand, Japanese mussels that have invaded the San Diego area are stabilizing mudflats. Although
reaching Southern California in the 1960s,

COST‐BENEFIT ANALYSIS OF AN RFID ASSET TRACKING SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION
This paper outlines the cost‐benefit analysis of using Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Radio Frequency

With a time saving of 90.82%, RFID proves its time and cost savings while performing asset
inventories.
BUSINESS ANALYSIS
In order to clarify what savings RFID can provide for an organisation currently utilizing outdated,
inefficient logistics technologies, these time savings should be used, along with some general
assumptions, to project indicative cost savings. To facilitate analysis of the labour cost savings
associated to implementing RFID processes to an asset tracking context, the life cycle of a typical
asset is considered. The different types of assets and their individual characteristics are ignored to
simplify the analysis. In order for this document to provide useful figures for a wider range of
customers, a basic logistics department with varying asset levels and traffic will be analysed. Some
general assumptions are listed:  Average warehouse worker works a 38 hour week and earns a
$60,000AU salary.  Number of assets to be tracked: o 10,000 o 20,000 o 50,000 o 100,000  Each

The Prentice Hall Self Assessment
Part I of the Prentice Hall Self Assessment provided me with some interesting information about my
personality, some of which was known and some that was new to me. The test covering my basic
personality provided me with what I would consider known information. My scores were spot on for
the Extroversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Emotional stability, but what really surprised
me was my score for openness to experience. In this category I scored a 7 which makes me a moderate
low in that area which I find to be the perfect score as I often have a tendency to lean towards those
things that I am most familiar with, but I also have small interest in the unfamiliar and am slightly
open to exploring new ways of doing things. My Jungian Personality has and always be an ISTJ due to
my need for privacy and structure in my everyday life. Kroeger, Thuesen and Rutledge (2007) affirms
this as they state an ISTJ s day to day living is driven by structure, schedule, and order, and their
Introversion makes them appear somewhat cool and aloof (p. 306). For the Type A personality I scored
a 111 which equates to having an A personality. This is about 95% accurate as I am constantly striving
to achieve more out of life and at times I can be difficult to get along with due to my drive to succeed.

persons would be that I am not always moving at a fast pace in all that I do and

dominant figures of the Russian Revolution. They were very violent and just wanted to push it off like

Dead Poets Society Conformity
What is conformity? To put it simply, it means to adhere to societal standards or norms . Adolescents
are particularly susceptible to such; when they begin to separate from their family and form their own
identity is when they also seek acceptance from their peers or live up to expectations from their
parental figures. Conforming to social norms help them redefine themselves while earning them
acceptance and approval. Fitting in simply feels good (Ulene 6). It means that by blending in and
mimicking the people around them makes teenagers feel good during the process of finding

Students go through their school career being told what to do and how to act. This will program the

directly translates into teenagers today: being trained to do the same schoolwork the same way that
will get recycled later. Conformity in a school environment, which is where it is most common, is

The Real Estate Appraisal Process
Real Estate Appraisal Process Executive Summary The real estate appraisal process is a process that
affects nearly everyone who lives in a home. Most people do not have the funding to purchase a home
outright and must rely on financing to purchase their homes. Banks require that a real estate appraisal
be conducted to determine what the market value of a property is so they know how much the
property is worth as collateral for the loan. Therefore the appraisal serves as the basis for factors such
as determining a fair market price, how much collateral a property can offer a lender, or in some cases
even how much a property should be able to earn in income in a best use scenario. This report will
outline the basic steps of evaluating the value of property as well as discuss some of the considerations
surrounding the appraisal process in general. Three Approaches to Value There are three primary
routes to establishing a real estate property values and these methods differ significantly. The most
common for residential real estate is the determination of market value or the sales comparison
approach. This method utilizes sales data to determine what other similar properties in the local
market have sold for. Another method of determining value is through a cost approach which is more
typical in new construction. For example, when a contractor builds a new house or structure they
might charge for the materials and labor that was used plus some amount of

Foreign Language And Its Effects On American Society
The foreign language deficit in America serves to be inimical to the future of American society.
America s foreign language curriculum displays a more than lackluster approach in relation to those
upheld in other countries. Unlike our European counterparts, most American school systems only
require that students acquire two foreign language credits to graduate. Most of the time, these courses
are either taught by some athletic coach who could really care less if you know how to conjugate the
verb ir correctly, or by an overly passionate foreigner who spends the class time intensively explaining
said conjugations to a class full of seniors who just want to graduate. In some states, this requirement
is even nonexistent.

18th and 19th centuries, when language retained greater value in society. The presidents of the 20th

As stated in David Skorton and Glenn Altschuler s article entitled America s Foreign Language Deficit

To prosper economically and to improve relations with other countries, U.S. Secretary of Education

Americans report speaking a language other than English, while 53% of Europeans (and increasing
numbers in other parts of the world) can converse in a second language.
Multiple studies exist that display the lack of effort exhibited in America in terms of language
learning. According to the Forbes article, the amount of private elementary schools that offer foreign
language courses dropped from 31 to 25 percent, while instruction in public elementary schools
dropped from 24 percent to 15 percent. Even the percentage of middle schools with foreign language
programs decreased from 75 to 58 percent.

A History of John Wilkes Booth
The name of John Wilkes Booth conjures up a picture of America s most infamous assassin, the killer
of perhaps the greatest president of the United States. However, J. Wilkes Booth (as he was known
professionally) led a very prominent life as an actor in the years preceding the assassination of
Abraham Lincoln. This period of his life is often forgotten or overlooked.
The Booth family name in the nineteenth century was strongly identified with the American theater
scene; there was no greater name among American actors at this time. Junius Brutus Booth, Sr. came
to the United States from England in 1821 and established the Booth name upon the American stage.

Booth briefly left the Richmond Theatre Company in 1859. He joined the Richmond Grays, gaining
his only official military experience. He enlisted on November 20, 1859 with the sole intention of
witnessing the December hanging of the fiery abolitionist John Brown in Charles Town, Virginia.
Soon after witnessing Brown s hanging, Booth left for Richmond where he was discharged.
During the Civil War, Booth said he promised his mother that he would not join the Confederate army.
Booth did however, undertake some action to support the Confederacy. According to some reports,
Booth was actively engaged in smuggling medical supplies to Confederate forces in 1864.
Many people who came in contact with Booth mentioned the magnetism and power of his eyes. Sir

THE CONTEXT OF TALENT MANAGEMENT
As South Africa embarks on it s journey into the second decade of democracy, few can argue that
tremendous strides have been made on the political, economic, social and legislative fronts. Much of
our legislation and policy directions are amongst the most progressive in the world. However, many
challenges remain. One of these is the shortage of professional and managerial skills and the
imbalances in terms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This manifests itself at 2 levels. Firstly, firms soon reach a state of overload. Deadlines are missed,
standards and quality of work drop and a vicious cycle emerges and feeds on itself. This is a very
common phenomenon with small and medium sized professional firms. They do not have the capacity
to manage their growth or the peaks and valleys associated with the modern business world. Secondly,
the firm is so consumed with meeting operational deadlines that it loses it s ability to keep up to date
with latest best practice, legislation or other issues demanding new skills. In this case clients will soon
recognise that mistakes are made due to lack of currency of skills. These are some of the more visible
risks to firms who do not pay attention to the attraction, growth and retention of key talent. Beyond
the visible, other manifestations of the problem arise. Staff morale declines because leadership talent
is absent and this energy drop is transferred to the client. Internal politics and protection of territory or
unwillingness to share information and surface problems affect the functioning of the firm. All of
these things affect the ability of the organisation to offer great service and take advantage of
opportunities to grow.

Wasteland Vik Munniz
Wasteland is an inspiring, strong, awakening documentary about a fine artist named Vik Muniz. The
documentary is directed by Lucy Walker, and filmed in the largest landfill in the world located in Rio
De Janero, Brazil. It is based around the lives of several hard working garbage pickers who
desperately want to change the world by recycling. A lot of these garbage pickers work up to 16 hours
a day for only $20 to $25 dollars a day. Some of these pickers do not go home for days at a time, and
some of them live at the landfill permanently. I was very inspired by the people in this documentary.
As much as these people disliked working where they worked and living where they lived. They
carried a very high amount of self respect and self value. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time artist Vik Muniz moves his life from living in Brooklyn New York to moving back to
his home land of Brazil. Artist Vik Muniz returns to Brazil to create art from what surrounds people in
their daily lives such as the work these people do at the landfill. One of the photographs he recreates is
Marat. A Jacques Louis David painting The Death of Marat, which was painted and released on the
14th of November 1793. Marat was a French revolutionary leader Jean Paul Marat who was murdered
by Charlotte Corday while sitting in his bath tub in which he sat all the time to soothe a skin disease in
which he suffered from. It is one of the most famous images of the Revolution. While living in Brazil
trying to put his artistic mind to work he meets several different people that worked as pickers in the
landfill. Some of the people he met includes Tiao which was the President of ACAMJG (the
Association of Recycling Pickers of Jardim Gramacho). Zumbi who is the most intellectual resident of
the landfill. He has kept every decent book he has found on the landfill. Then there is Isis, she is a
worker who hates picking garbage. She loves to be fashionable which you can see with how she
carries herself and dresses. Magna is a picker as well she started working at the landfill because her
husband lost his job and she had bills to pay and a family to take care of. Magna was a very proud and
dignified woman who at times would become embarrassed by the way she had to live her life. The
people who rode the bus with her made her feel this way by the comments they made when having to
sit next to her. They would insult her and tell her she smelled unpleasant. She would tell them that she
may smell bad, but at least she is not selling herself to make money. She has a high level of self
respect, and she makes a good honest living working at the landfill Valter dos Santos was the vice
president at the landfill he worked with

A Long, Enduring History
The planet that we reside on has a long, enduring history. Today, remnants can still be found that tell
the history of the land, and of its inhabitants; many of these remnants, however, have been destroyed
over time. The Bamiyan Valley in Afghanistan has a rich and complicated history that continues up to
the present day. The residents of Bamiyan live neighboring a wall of cliffs, speckled with caves.
Bordering the city on each side, two abandoned niches are carved into the cliff face, each towering
over 100 meters. These great niches once held two Buddha statues that looked out over the Bamiyan
Valley, but now stand empty. Once a witness to the history of the area, these Buddhas were destroyed
in 2001 when the Taliban, a terrorist group, destroyed them due to their religious imagery. Since their
destruction, the international community has risen up in protest, and endless discussions on its
reconstruction have been hashed out as further studies are done on the remains. The interaction with
religious ideology complicates and stigmatizes the situation, causing many discussions to go nowhere.
The Bamiyan Buddhas hold significant cultural value, providing not only a religious sanctuary for
many, but also by attracting travelers with their beauty. By leaving the niches empty, we risk the well
being of the Bamiyan Valley, as well as a loss of a key part of history. In restoring the Buddhas, the
international community can also see it as a restoration of the Bamiyan Valley

Epipen Company Case Analysis
Overview
Considering our upcoming press conference, it is important to remember that we all represent Mylan
and coordinate the message we want to project out in public. Bearing in mind the recent distractions,
we need to reaffirm who we are and what we stand for. It is imperative to reiterate that Mylan is a
cutting edge, innovative company that delivers high quality, lifesaving products. Situation
A recent price adjustment of our EpiPen Auto Injector product has triggered a media firestorm.
Suddenly, our organization is under a microscope and we are facing pressure from the public and
government entities alike. Outraged parents many government officials are calling for investigation
into our company and our practices. All this negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The EpiPen Auto Injector s contribution to our company s financial performance currently represents
about 10 %. Additionally, Mylan s sales revenue from two pack EpiPen is approximately 45%, which
covers manufacturing, distributing, enhancing, and investing in future development of high quality
products.
We need to reaffirm our position as a company delivering high quality products. One of our
competitors suffered from product recall due to possibility of delivering incorrect dosage. The rest our
competing products captured only about 7% of market share due to reluctance of customer switching
products. Therefore, this is an evidence of our customer trusting and preferring our EpiPen over
competing products.
Doing our art in saving lives, we have increased an access to EpiPen by issuing a saving card to users
that will effectively cut the cost of two pack EpiPen by $300. In addition, we have doubled the
eligibility for patient assistance program, which practically eliminates out of pocket cost for uninsured
or underinsured families and

Carlson s Reputation Risk
Carlson is one of the largest privately held companies in the world, encompassing more than 1,370
hotels in operation and under development in over 110 countries and territories and Carlson Wagonlit
Travel, a global leader in business travel management operating in more than 150 countries and
territories.
In order to extend its business to the world, Carlson Companies had developed a very promising hotel
property in Costa Rica. And at that time, Costa Rica was a notorious area for child trafficking and
prostitution. So, when Marilyn Carlson Nelson became the CEO of Carlson companies, she was facing
the challenge to protect children from sexual exploitation in the tourism industry.
Then, in 2004, Marilyn lead Carlson companies signed the Code ... Show more content on

The growing popularity and declining cost of travel and the rise of new communications technologies
had changed the nature of sexual exploitation by facilitating the rise of global sex tourism. Prostitution
had occurred throughout history. Prior to the last quarter of the 20th century, it was common in poorer
countries for the female children to sell themselves for sex, in order to help their families survive.
By the late 1980 s, Costa Rica had become one of the principal tourist destinations in Central America.
The boom in tourism had also resulted in Costa Rica becoming a source destination country for sex
trafficking. Women and girls were being sex trafficked into Costa Rica from all over the world. In the
1990 s nongovernmental organizations began to raise concerns about Costa Rica s problem with sex
tourism and children exploitation, but the Costa Rican government did not make a concerted effort to
address the issue until 2006. It was not until 2009 that country made all forms of trafficking

The Concept Of Cardinal Change
Legal Research Assignment
My legal research paper is on the concept of Cardinal change. Cardinal change is one of three legal
classifications of change. A change is define as followed; Any alteration to a contract permitted by the
Changes clause of a contract. (Nash, Scooner, O Brien, 2007). Most construction contracts contain a
clause governing changes that allows the owner to change or modify the work required under the
contract documents. (Loulakis Santiago, 2001). When clause mentioned above is included in the
contractor it means the contractor is typically required to perform the change. Now a cardinal change
is considered a major change to the contract. A Cardinal change is define as followed; A change that is

Air a plane Corporation v. the United States, 408 F.2d 1030 (Ct. Cl. 1969), is the first case I m going
discuss in which cardinal change was used for the basis of a law suit. Air A Plane Corporation sign a
contract with the Army Chemical Corps to make over 1100 smoke generators which were designated
to be M3A1. The total fixed price contract price was $607,101.04. The major issue that occur with the
agreement was the large number of changes made by the Government after the contract was awarded.
Yes, the contain the clause governing changes that allowed Army Chemical Corps to change or modify
the work required but Air A Plane Corporation did not expect such a large number of changes. This
belief was based principally on the fact that the contract, by way of detailed and comprehensive
specifications and drawings, described the contract items minutely. This belief was apparently also
based in part upon the fact that the contract was a fixed price contract. (Justia, 1969). For the first
issue the board found that a large number of changes were made after the contract was awarded.
Whether they look at the number Air A Plane Corporation submitted or the one Army Chemical Corps
submitted, the number was still large. The first change

Southern Women In The 1930 s
The Roles of Southern Women During the 1930 s
Before the 1930 s, women were very underrated. The Great Depression caused the availability of jobs
to go way down, and men were no longer there to work and help their families. The men were
characterized as the breadwinner in the family, and the women were seen as the homeworker that
cooked and cleaned. After the men started losing their jobs, they felt like a failure because the women
then began to thrive. The 1930 s was a turning point for women s lifestyle including home, work, and
marriage life.
In the 1930 s, marriages began to go downhill. The rates of them occurring began to drop rapidly,
along with the birth rates (Gender Roles and Sexual Relations). The men were usually seen as the
providers and protectors in the relationship, and that they should be the ones that were to support the
family. After they lost their jobs, they lost that role. Without a providing husband in the household, it
was very hard on the women. These hardships began to get too much for some of the women and men
to handle, and that caused their marriage to crumble (Gender Roles and Sexual Relations). ... Show

After the market crashed, the men started losing their jobs. Men were usually the workers and they got
to have the bigger jobs, but when jobs were starting to go away, the men s went first. Technologies
like radios and telephones were beginning to develop all during this time, and women did these jobs.
Women were not exactly affected by the market crash because they got paid much less and the market
crash affected those who were paid a good amount, which were the men. The men did have the choice
to do jobs with the women and that involved technology, but they believed that they would lose their
masculinity, so they did not risk it (Gender Roles and Sexual

Comparing Hubris In Frankenstein And The Picture Of Dorian...
Hubris is clearly prominent in both novels and a major theme in gothic literature. Dorian Gray is a
novel obsessed with the aesthetic movement, Wilde clearly criticising the upper class Victorian desire
when Dorian exclaims: If it were I who was to be always young... (Ch.2. 29) Modern readers are able
to relate to this desire in a social media obsessed world where arguably beauty can be powerful. The
novel with hidden meaning beneath relates to Wilde s own need for discretion in life trying to conceal
his own homosexuality from the preying public eye. Thus possibly Wilde is trying to present the idea
that it is society s evil that turns the innocent into the corrupt, Dorian not being strong or
knowledgeable enough to reject the temptation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet different to The Picture of Dorian Grey, in the modern era the moral behind Frankenstein is
somewhat lost the monster becoming a childlike manifestation of Shelley s character. Arguably the
novel still professes the idea that in the modern era, minorities are undermined shunned by the many.
The only innocent character in Frankenstein is arguably Walton he narrating the novel in epistolary
form, Victor and the creature fighting head to head for the embedded narratives. Perhaps this narrative
reflects the distance of the characters, both Victor and the monster isolated from the people and the
world around them. This links them together at the end of the novel Frankenstein s monster realising
in his final monologue that: ...while I destroyed his (Victors) hopes, I did not satisfy my own
desires...still I desired love and fellowship. The monster has come to the conclusion that he will never
be fully accepted by society but understanding that society would have never understood Victor s
ambition for science, after all it was he who created the unaccepted Monster and thus he himself
would have also been

The Advantages And Differences Between City And Suburban Life
Part of the American Dream is home ownership. Buyers must decide whether to choose a home in a
bustling city or nestled in a sprawling suburb. People make this decision every day. Some relocate due
to employment, weather, family, or ever simply for a change of scenery and lifestyle. The reasons for
relocating are as abundant as the options between city and suburban life. Both lifestyles have both
advantages and disadvantages and should be researched and chosen carefully. Suburban life is
considered a utopia for many individuals. Well manicured lawns surrounding every neutral colored
home is heaven. Rules force home owners to care for their property and abide by neighborhood
regulations. No eyesores can exist. Parents feel safe allowing children to play outdoors or go to the
neighborhood park. Suburbanites can avoid negatives such as traffic, poor schools, high tax rates, and
violent crime. Neighbors once again speak to each other and have neighborhood events such as
parades, picnics, and block parties. Suburban communities are somewhat like a time in the past when
it was acceptable to trust those who live nearby. It is once again safe to go next door to borrow a cup
of sugar. A well known planned suburban community is Seaside, Florida. According to travel editor,
Laszlo Buhasz, the developer, Robert Davis, grouped southern style cottages with amenities and
convenience. He wanted to revive the architectural styles of the Deep South. He spent many months

This current study seeks to answer the following questions: What parental challenges do Latino immigrant parents face? What resiliencies do Latino immigrant parents obtain? What resources/services do Latino immigrant parents feel they need? What parenting skills, styles, and/or knowledge have Latino immigrant parents used and were they effective in producing positive child outcomes? The short story Brokeback Mountain (1997) written by Annie Proulx received a lot of attention when it was first published in the New Yorker. The story is about the relationship between Jack Twist and Ennis Del Mar, two cowboys who develop a forbidden love for each other and have to live separate lives. In the beginning of my first term when I was taking Patient Care everything that we were being taught seemed like common sense; keep the patient warm, make sure they are comfortable, try to do the procedure accommodating to them, but as I went out into the field those little extra efforts seemed to not be important. My first day opened my eyes to how some medical professionals took care of their patients. As I was walking through the doors of the radiology department, I was taking in the atmosphere. Everyone had a purpose and was moving around like they were on a mission. The first patient I helped with was a man who was going in for CT. The presentation talked about one of the core issue, which is Politics in this case, that affected Latino in USA. A thorough research was conducted to understand the causes and effects of politics and how it moulded the growth of Latinos in this country. 3. The learning outcome was to understand the role of politics and its impact on Latinos living in USA. To gain a better understanding of this some range of themes were introduced to help understand the central issue. They are: a. Population The Hispanic population increase of 15.2 million between 2000 and 2010 constituted over half of the 27.3 million increase in the total population of the United States. During that time, the Hispanic population grew by a full 43 percent, which was four times the growth in the overall population growth of 10 percent. The reason why people care about the Latino vote is because of their growth in numbers. However, for many low income, low education Hispanics, their focus is survival, and issues like politics is not a priority. They represent 16 percent of the U.S. labor force. b. Underage drinking can weaken neurological development, which could cause minors to make bad decisions, have memory loss, slower thought processes, and even acquire irreversible brain damage. Drinking when your body and mind are not fully developed can leave damaging effects on a person s social abilities, neurological abilities, and overall health. • 21. How and Why Did American Popular Culture Influence... The 1950s and 1960s were times of unprecedented change, and Australian society was influenced greatly by American popular culture, through various mediums, such as: music, film, television and fashion. This especially affected teenagers. It will be explained how Australian society was impacted by American popular culture, and also why American popular culture had such an affect. Australian developed its own responses to these influences, and the extent of this will also be explored. The 1950s meant the emergence of the teenager; it also brought peace and prosperity to many. But the psychedelic styles of the sixties were so strong and unsympathetic to other styles that it was inevitable that Psychedelia departed as quickly as it arrived. The fifties and sixties were completely different in so many ways; the times had changed a lot in the transition of decades. The types of music, for one, were in great contrast. By the sixties the rock n roll and pelvic thrusting of the fifties had transformed into the pop, rock and folk music of the likes of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. Teenagers changed a lot over the two decades a lot, too. The tight pant, leather jacket bodgies, with their greased hair, and the widgies, with their rope petticoats and flared dresses, were replaced by the teenagers of the Psychedelic era. These teenagers preferred the swirled shapes and bright colours, with their newly found mini skirts, and for the guys it was paisley shirts. Although the two decades were different in themselves, there is still a parallel running between the two. Both were times of change, with popular culture culminated for the newly recognised youth, each decade had their own brand of pop music, and their own brand of teenagers. • 22. Memory Accuracy Fades Many people would swear that they are able to remember an event that happened to them with complete accuracy. However, this may not always be the case. Over time, it is not uncommon for people s memories to fade and deteriorate, but what many don t realize is that it s possible for memories to actually transform themselves or be created entirely. With the possibility of memories being changed or fabricated by the human mind, can memory really be trusted? Most of us hold the view that memory is much like a tape recorder or video recorder, holding a perfectly accurate record of what has been experienced. Nothing could be further from the truth (Thompson and Madigan 6). Memory is amazing; however, the human memory system is far from perfect, but it is most certainly adequate (Mlodinow 63). For the most part, it can be described as being accurate and efficient. We may not intentionally change the details of our memories, but the process of remembering changes our memories. Just as editing on a computer usually overwrites the original file, revisiting an event can revise your memory (Kowalski 34). Details of events can be subtracted from memories. Many factors can contribute to this including time and trauma (Laney and Loftus 138). In fact, memories have the potential to be eliminated completely if the neuron carrying them dies (Minirth 73). The mood a person possesses during an event can also affect the way it will be remembered. For instance, if a person is in an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. The Impact of Invasive Species on Ecosystems Essay Influence on ecosystems range from human causes like the bulldozing of a forest to natural causes like a fire or a flood. In recent times, the introduction and spread of invasive species has transformed native communities rapidly and, in some cases, created irreversible damages. In the Earth s history, changes have often occurred in the ecosystems. For example, glaciers and the retreat of glaciers cause wide spread changes. However, although change is a constant in ecosystems, animals and habitats often cannot adapt to the rapid alterations of non natural stresses. Harm to the environment from the introduction of invasive species occurs through changes in the habitat and declines in the native species. Invasive species ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Van Driesche, nonnative species are more likely to establish if they invade habitats with lowered biotic resistance, encounter prey with poorly developed mechanisms of self defense, or invade habitats unaccompanied by their specialized natural enemies or when their invasion is facilitated by earlier invaders (2000). Damage to these communities, then, can be seen both in cumulative effects and in a cycle of self reinforcement. Although pristine environments are still at risk from invasion, this positive feedback loop makes habitats already with a disturbance by exotics even more vulnerable to other invasions. With the increasing amount of disturbed habitats, invasive species could soon become the leading cause of ecological degradation (Soulé Orians, 2001). Invasive species can alter habitats in a number of ways. Changes in the physical structure of the land are the most visually obvious. Examples include narrowing stream channels, reducing sand supply to dunes, and stabilizing surfaces such as mudflats, and each invasive species goes about these changes in their own way. For instance, the burrowing activities of Australian isopods cause the banks of tidal channels to collapse, leading to the widening of channels and the loss of vegetated salt marsh (Cox, 1999). On the other hand, Japanese mussels that have invaded the San Diego area are stabilizing mudflats. Although reaching Southern California in the 1960s, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most people do not have the funding to purchase a home outright and must rely on financing to purchase their homes. Banks require that a real estate appraisal be conducted to determine what the market value of a property is so they know how much the property is worth as collateral for the loan. Therefore the appraisal serves as the basis for factors such as determining a fair market price, how much collateral a property can offer a lender, or in some cases even how much a property should be able to earn in income in a best use scenario. The company scammed the laborers by making the assembly line faster to get more work out of the men for the same pay. Furthermore, sanitation of the workplace was an immense issue. Many men had tuberculosis and coughed blood, onto the floor, and with no area to urinate, many did it in a corner and did not wash their hands after doing so. With all that being said, the meat was dumped into the same floor where all of this occurred, usually also accumulating dead rats and their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

THE CONTEXT OF TALENT MANAGEMENT As South Africa embarks on it s journey into the second decade of democracy, few can argue that tremendous strides have been made on the political, economic, social and legislative fronts. Much of our legislation and policy directions are amongst the most progressive in the world. However, many challenges remain. One of these is the shortage of professional and managerial skills and the imbalances in terms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This manifests itself at 2 levels. Firstly, firms soon reach a state of overload. Deadlines are missed, standards and quality of work drop and a vicious cycle emerges and feeds on itself. This is a very common phenomenon with small and medium sized professional firms. They do not have the capacity to manage their growth or the peaks and valleys associated with the modern business world. Secondly, the firm is so consumed with meeting operational deadlines that it loses it s ability to keep up to date with latest best practice, legislation or other issues demanding new skills. In this case clients will soon recognise that mistakes are made due to lack of currency of skills. These are some of the more visible risks to firms who do not pay attention to the attraction, growth and retention of key talent. Beyond the visible, other manifestations of the problem arise. Staff morale declines because leadership talent is absent and this energy drop is transferred to the client. Internal politics and protection of territory or unwillingness to share information and surface problems affect the functioning of the firm. All of these things affect the ability of the organisation to offer great service and take advantage of opportunities to grow. Talent Management 3 BUILDING THE EMPLOYMENT BRAND Building an employment brand or reputation is as important in the war for talent as building a reputation or brand for clients.

  • 43. Wasteland Vik Munniz Wasteland is an inspiring, strong, awakening documentary about a fine artist named Vik Muniz. The documentary is directed by Lucy Walker, and filmed in the largest landfill in the world located in Rio De Janero, Brazil. It is based around the lives of several hard working garbage pickers who desperately want to change the world by recycling. A lot of these garbage pickers work up to 16 hours a day for only $20 to $25 dollars a day. Some of these pickers do not go home for days at a time, and some of them live at the landfill permanently. I was very inspired by the people in this documentary. As much as these people disliked working where they worked and living where they lived. They carried a very high amount of self respect and self value. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Magna was a very proud and dignified woman who at times would become embarrassed by the way she had to live her life. The people who rode the bus with her made her feel this way by the comments they made when having to sit next to her. They would insult her and tell her she smelled unpleasant. She would tell them that she may smell bad, but at least she is not selling herself to make money. • 44. A Long, Enduring History The planet that we reside on has a long, enduring history. Today, remnants can still be found that tell the history of the land, and of its inhabitants; many of these remnants, however, have been destroyed over time. The Bamiyan Valley in Afghanistan has a rich and complicated history that continues up to the present day. The residents of Bamiyan live neighboring a wall of cliffs, speckled with caves. Bordering the city on each side, two abandoned niches are carved into the cliff face, each towering over 100 meters. These great niches once held two Buddha statues that looked out over the Bamiyan Valley, but now stand empty. Once a witness to the history of the area, these Buddhas were destroyed in 2001 when the Taliban, a terrorist group, destroyed them due to their religious imagery. Since their destruction, the international community has risen up in protest, and endless discussions on its reconstruction have been hashed out as further studies are done on the remains. The interaction with religious ideology complicates and stigmatizes the situation, causing many discussions to go nowhere. The Bamiyan Buddhas hold significant cultural value, providing not only a religious sanctuary for many, but also by attracting travelers with their beauty. By leaving the niches empty, we risk the well being of the Bamiyan Valley, as well as a loss of a key part of history. In restoring the Buddhas, the international community can also see it as a restoration of the Bamiyan Valley ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By the late 1980 s, Costa Rica had become one of the principal tourist destinations in Central America. The boom in tourism had also resulted in Costa Rica becoming a source destination country for sex trafficking. Women and girls were being sex trafficked into Costa Rica from all over the world. • 47. The Concept Of Cardinal Change Legal Research Assignment My legal research paper is on the concept of Cardinal change. Cardinal change is one of three legal classifications of change. A change is define as followed; Any alteration to a contract permitted by the Changes clause of a contract. (Nash, Scooner, O Brien, 2007). Most construction contracts contain a clause governing changes that allows the owner to change or modify the work required under the contract documents. (Loulakis Santiago, 2001). When clause mentioned above is included in the contractor it means the contractor is typically required to perform the change. Now a cardinal change is considered a major change to the contract. The major issue that occur with the agreement was the large number of changes made by the Government after the contract was awarded. Yes, the contain the clause governing changes that allowed Army Chemical Corps to change or modify the work required but Air A Plane Corporation did not expect such a large number of changes. This belief was based principally on the fact that the contract, by way of detailed and comprehensive specifications and drawings, described the contract items minutely. This belief was apparently also based in part upon the fact that the contract was a fixed price contract. (Justia, 1969). For the first issue the board found that a large number of changes were made after the contract was awarded. Whether they look at the number Air A Plane Corporation submitted or the one Army Chemical Corps submitted, the number was still large. The first change ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Southern Women In The 1930 s The Roles of Southern Women During the 1930 s Before the 1930 s, women were very underrated. The Great Depression caused the availability of jobs to go way down, and men were no longer there to work and help their families. The men were characterized as the breadwinner in the family, and the women were seen as the homeworker that cooked and cleaned. After the men started losing their jobs, they felt like a failure because the women then began to thrive. The 1930 s was a turning point for women s lifestyle including home, work, and marriage life. In the 1930 s, marriages began to go downhill. The rates of them occurring began to drop rapidly, along with the birth rates (Gender Roles and Sexual Relations). The men were usually seen as the providers and protectors in the relationship, and that they should be the ones that were to support the family. After they lost their jobs, they lost that role. Without a providing husband in the household, it was very hard on the women. These hardships began to get too much for some of the women and men to handle, and that caused their marriage to crumble (Gender Roles and Sexual Relations). ... • 49. Comparing Hubris In Frankenstein And The Picture Of Dorian... Hubris is clearly prominent in both novels and a major theme in gothic literature. Dorian Gray is a novel obsessed with the aesthetic movement, Wilde clearly criticising the upper class Victorian desire when Dorian exclaims: If it were I who was to be always young... (Ch.2. 29) Modern readers are able to relate to this desire in a social media obsessed world where arguably beauty can be powerful. The novel with hidden meaning beneath relates to Wilde s own need for discretion in life trying to conceal his own homosexuality from the preying public eye. Thus possibly Wilde is trying to present the idea that it is society s evil that turns the innocent into the corrupt, Dorian not being strong or knowledgeable enough to reject the temptation ... Perhaps this narrative reflects the distance of the characters, both Victor and the monster isolated from the people and the world around them. This links them together at the end of the novel Frankenstein s monster realising in his final monologue that: ...while I destroyed his (Victors) hopes, I did not satisfy my own desires...still I desired love and fellowship. • 50. The Advantages And Differences Between City And Suburban Life Part of the American Dream is home ownership. Buyers must decide whether to choose a home in a bustling city or nestled in a sprawling suburb. People make this decision every day. Some relocate due to employment, weather, family, or ever simply for a change of scenery and lifestyle. The reasons for relocating are as abundant as the options between city and suburban life. Both lifestyles have both advantages and disadvantages and should be researched and chosen carefully. Suburban life is considered a utopia for many individuals. Well manicured lawns surrounding every neutral colored home is heaven. Rules force home owners to care for their property and abide by neighborhood regulations. No eyesores can exist. Parents feel safe allowing children to play outdoors or go to the neighborhood park. Suburbanites can avoid negatives such as traffic, poor schools, high tax rates, and violent crime. Neighbors once again speak to each other and have neighborhood events such as parades, picnics, and block parties. Suburban communities are somewhat like a time in the past when it was acceptable to trust those who live nearby. It is once again safe to go next door to borrow a cup of sugar. A well known planned suburban community is Seaside, Florida. According to travel editor, Laszlo Buhasz, the developer, Robert Davis, grouped southern style cottages with amenities and convenience. He wanted to revive the architectural styles of the Deep South. He spent many months ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
