Crafting an essay on the subject of "Short Essays on Education" can be both challenging and
rewarding. Education is a broad and multifaceted topic, encompassing various aspects such as
philosophy, methods, challenges, and societal impacts. The difficulty lies in distilling these
complexities into a concise and coherent piece that effectively conveys the importance and
nuances of education.
One challenge is striking the right balance between breadth and depth. Education is a vast field,
and attempting to cover all its facets in a short essay can be daunting. It requires careful
consideration of which aspects to focus on and how to weave them together seamlessly.
Additionally, ensuring that the essay remains concise while providing insightful perspectives
adds another layer of difficulty.
Another aspect to grapple with is the need for originality. The topic of education has been
explored extensively, and finding a unique angle or fresh insights can be demanding. It
necessitates thorough research and a creative approach to present ideas in a way that engages the
reader.
Furthermore, the dynamic nature of education adds complexity. Educational practices and
theories evolve, and staying abreast of the latest developments is crucial for writing an informed
essay. This involves keeping up with educational research, policy changes, and societal shifts that
influence the educational landscape.
Despite these challenges, writing an essay on education can be fulfilling. It offers the opportunity
to delve into a topic that profoundly impacts individuals and societies. Crafting a compelling
narrative that communicates the significance of education and its transformative power can leave
a lasting impression on the reader.
In conclusion, tackling the subject of "Short Essays on Education" involves navigating through
the intricacies of a vast and dynamic field. It requires a careful balance of depth, conciseness,
originality, and staying updated on the latest trends. While challenging, successfully navigating
these complexities can result in a thought-provoking and impactful essay.

Chapter Seven Teaches Us That There Are More Addictions
Chapter seven teaches us that there are more addictions other than substance
addictions. These can be described as behavioral or process addiction. Most of these
addictions include compulsive and obsessive behavior which are comparable to
substance addictions. There are several process addictions. For example, eating
disorders like anorexia, bulimia and other structures of disorder eating. Shop lifting,
internet, sex/love addiction, gaming, gambling, and self harm are other examples of
addictions.
These process addictions have some unique features. Almost all the process
addiction can be considered legal. Individuals often get a sense of control, which
they use to cope with pain. It provides a feeling of intense pleasure and happiness. ...

Individuals assume women often conduct self harm. Individuals also assume self
harm is done to seek attention, or to eventually commit suicide. Women between the
ages of thirteen and thirty usually self harm. This type of behavior can remain
between five and ten years.
Shopping can be defined as a compulsive buying behavior. Individuals become
addicted to shopping because they see it as a stress relief, which triggers them to do
it again. Women are more prone to experience compulsive buying behaviors than men.
Gambling can be done at a casino, racetrack, or online. Compulsive gambling
addiction can lead to criminal behaviors. There are several phases in gambling. The
winning phase lead gamblers to win several winnings, which leads them to believe
that they will keep winning. The loosing phase often begins with bragging about
their past wins and start gambling alone and begin to borrow money. The loosing
phase leads to debts. The desperation phase can lead to suicidal thoughts, arrests,
divorce and alcohol and drug abuse.
Internet gaming disorder deals with individuals who spend an excessive number of
hours playing video games. Individuals who are addicted to gaming prefer playing
video games than communicating with individuals in person. Individuals prefer to
not eat just and rather stay awake playing.
During the Gambling stage, it mentions that in the winning phase individuals win
Battlefield Medicine During The Civil War
If you were a soldier in the Battle of Gettysburg do you think that you would ve
survived? The battle between the Union and the Confederacy lasted three days,
from July 1, 1863 to July 3, 1863 and in the end the Union was victorious. The
Battle of Gettysburg was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. The medical
knowledge and equipment that the surgeons had back then were no match the
types of illnesses and injuries that the soldiers had. The people that were that got
shot during the Civil War, either had to get a body part amputated, got their
gunshot wound covered with a bandage, opened up the wound to get the bullet out
and then patch them up. Three people from The Killer Angels that got shot and
just got their wound wrapped with bandage were John Buford, Buster Kilrain, and
a runaway slave. John Buford who was thirty seven years was the Brigadier
General for the Union and was a cavalry soldier. In the novel it states, He had been
hit once in the legs arm and the bleeding had stopped but the genuine pain was just
the beginning. They had wrapped the arm and put his coat back on and he did not
show injury (146). Without proper inspection of the wound and removing it, this...

The Governess s Desire in Henry James s The Turn of the Screw
Henry James s The Turn of the Screw paints a landscape that is ripe for
psychoanalytic analysis. He has chosen language and syntax that symbolize his main
character s psychological fragmentation and her futile attempt to mend herself. Many
of Lacan s theories emerge as the Governess reveals her motivations through her
recollective narrative.
The Governess enters the Imaginary Stage of Lacan s psychoanalysis theory when
she sees herself in the mirror on her first night at Bly. She recalls, the long glasses in
which, for the first time, I could see myself from head to foot... and as her idealized
image gazes back, the Governess has now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The picture of Bly painted by the Governess pulsates with men who are not there;
their absent presence agitates the Governess s anxiety over her own fragmentation.
The master has abandoned her physically and emotionally, Miles has potential but is
only a child, and Peter Quint is nothing more than air. Even though they are
unavailable to her, the Governess s desire to be what these pseudo men desire
becomes the driving force behind her actions.
In order to please the master, the Governess makes it her mantra to carry out her
agreement to in charge of Bly (a traditional male role and yet the Governess
remarks, Well, I was strangely at the helm! )without engaging him in any of the
messy details. In order to please Miles, the Governess indulges his late night
wanderings and until he brings up the subject, does not pester him with questions
about his expulsion from school. To please Peter Quint, the Governess makes
herself available to him by strolling alone across the grounds. None of these
attempts to fulfill these imagined desires fulfills the Governess, of course, because
unity of self is not possible. There is no phallic presence at Bly and according to
Lacan, none is forthcoming.
Ironically, the other present characters at Bly are also fragmented and desire to
fulfill the Governess s desires, if the narrative is reliable. Mrs. Grose, who could very

Cultural Considerations
Cultural Considerations. It has been observed that professionals cannot offer
effective support for families without understanding the systems within which the
families exist and function (Enwefa, Enwefa, Jennings, 2006). Given the great
importance of support systems for families affected by IDD, it is necessary to
consider cultural factors which may affect such systems in either a positive or
negative manner. Across cultures, people tend to have varying beliefs about
disability (Kayama, 2010), which at times may function as barriers, preventing
access to supports and services (Cagran et al., 2011; White, 1987). Kayama (2010)
asserts that systemic change may lead to revised perceptions and beliefs among
families, moving them from segregationist and negative views, toward a perspective
of inclusion.
Additionally, it is to be expected that interventions for families affected by IDD will
need to differ from one culture to the next. This is true not only because of linguistic
differences but also because of differences in cultural beliefs and values. FQOL is a
construct that is perceived in ways that vary significantly from one culture to another
(Anzar and Castanon, 2005). For example, GinГ©, Vilaseca, GrГ cia, and Mora et al.
(2013) developed instruments that proved to be effective for measuring FQOL
among families in Spain affected by IDD and creating action plans based on them. It
differs from similar instruments used in other cultures, because it is tailored to the

Pros And Cons Of Banning The Hijab
Should the headscarf be banned?
Recently there has been a push towards banning religious symbolism from the
media, especially the hijab. The hijab is a veil that Muslim women wear around
their heads to cover their hair and their bosoms; it symbolizes faith and modesty.
Many people fear or in some cases feel bad for people who wear the headscarf
including niqabs and burqas because they are uneducated and/or ignorant of Islamic
teachings which lead them to create inaccurate assumptions and accusations on the
matter. Most may believe banning the head scarf will benefit the community in
ways that they believe will make people feel more comfortable and they also believe
that it will benefit the women who wear the hijab because of the belief that Muslim
women who wear the headscarf are oppressed, however, banning the head scarf
would lead to discrimination, the contradiction of Canadian values, and go against the
religious beliefs of Muslims.
Contrary to the popular argument that the banning of religious symbols,
particularly the hijab will stop discrimination since everyone will be the same, it
actually will deteriorate. discrimination is not caused by the differences, it is
caused by ignorance. For instance, after banning the hijab in France and parts of
Europe hate speech affecting ethnic and religious minorities [... rose, along with]
hate crimes targeting Muslims (El Aabedy. How does the EU hijab ruling affect
Muslim women? ). This creates an unsafe environment for Muslims and their
families because they are not allowed to continue their religious practices if they
want to be treated equally and given more job opportunities. Although, feminism is
strongly fought for in most places the fight should be for the rights of all women
instead of only women choosing to wear less, not for women choosing to wear
more, (Warda El Kaddouri qtd. El Aabedy). The way that one chooses to dress
should not determine their value as a human. In other cases the ruling allows private
businesses in Europe [to] forbid Muslim women [employees] from wearing
headscarves if the ban is part of a policy of neutrality within the company and not a
sign of prejudice against a particular religion, ( High European Union court rules

Kroger Supermarkets And The Largest Geographic Span
Description of Companies
Kroger supermarkets were started in 1883 by Barney Kroger. Mr. Kroger invested
his life savings of $372 to open a grocery store in downtown Cincinnati. He started
his business with the motto: Be particular. Never sell anything you would not want
yourself. Kroger now has over 2,600 stores in 34 states with annual sales of over
108.5 billion. This makes Kroger one of the world s largest retailers. Kroger
supermarkets were the first to establish their own bakeries in store. Kroger
operates 37 food processing facilities. Kroger has become large enough to develop
their own private label items that account for 26% of their total sales today.
Kroger has merged with several companies expanding its range across the United
States. They have merged with companies such as Dillon Companies Inc, Fred
Meyer Inc, and Harris Teeter. The merger in 1999 with Fred Meyer was huge for
Kroger simply because Kroger became the market with the largest geographic span.
In 1972, Kroger became the first grocery retailer to use the electronic scanner. They
also use QueVision which is a faster checkout program that allows less time at
checkout. Unlike Publix, they utilize the self checkout systems which allow
customers to checkout at their convenience. The technology that has been used for
many years at Kroger helps them to strategically set up their stores to maximize
sales.. (History of Kroger, 2015.)
Publix supermarkets were started September 6, 1930.
Similarities Between The Weary Blues And Lepanto
Poem Analysis: The Weary Blues by Langston Hughes and Lepanto by G. K.
Chesterton Poetry has been used across different contexts, particularly in historical
settings. At one point, compositions such as poems were written in an effort to
document certain dimensions that prevailed during specific times and periods.
Interestingly, compositions written in different contexts possessed definite
similarities regardless of aspects such as the setting of the poem or the time or period
during which the literary element was developed. Following this fact, the respective
discourse will concentrate on two particular poems. These comprise The Weary Blues
by Langston Hughes and Lepanto by G. K. Chesterton. From a physical standpoint,
both poems do not possess any corresponding features in respect to the settings that

K. Chesterton are written in different contexts with each poem documenting some of
the influences that characterized the respective literary compositions. Hughes poem,
The Weary Blues was written during the 1920s period based on its representation of
an African American persona (The Negro) as the lead and sole character in a setting
that does not gratify his basic needs. At the time, the social framework was heavily
defined by racial segregation between the white majority and the African American
population, which largely comprised slaves. Additionally, regulations such as the Jim
Crow Laws succeeded in the reinforcement of racism by establishing a social based
boundary between white people and African Americans. The hardships that the latter
encountered at the time influenced the creation as well as development of different
literary compositions. Topics that were covered at the time focused on issues
surrounding bigotry such as illiteracy, destitution, infringement on personal rights,
unemployment, social immobility, and significant racial
Literary Devices In Ernest Hemingway s A Farewell To
Arms
Ernest Hemingway s A Farewell To Arms is a great adventure of ones life. A
great love story of a man, Frederic Henry, and a woman, Catherine Barkley, that are
in a
time of war. Hemingway wanted to connect with his readers and make an amazing
story,
which he did.
Hemingway has a unique way of using words. He uses repetition quite a bit in the
story with things like the continuing use of to morrow and on page six talks about the
oak trees and the oak forests. The way Hemingway connects to his readers so well is
the
use of adjectives, also how he sets up his sentences. He uses adjectives that are very
common they aren t hard to figure out what they mean. For example, within the first
two
chapters of the book he explains the summer nights as cool and the whether very nice.
They are words that any teenager could read and understand with flying colors. He
also
sets up his sentences very short and to the point, it s more that he s trying to make us
connect to Henry so that we are more involved into Henry. We understand him as a
person. We image him doing what he is doing; it s the use of more pronouns so we
aren t
combining the sentences, he stops just to use another I or me.
There were many of wonderful quotes in A Farewell To Arms
. The first quote I
find ironic, I knew I did not love Catherine Barkley nor had any idea of loving her
(Hemingway 26). Considering that Henry and Catherine end up falling in love only
for
him to end up losing her in the end. There
Diversity For Everyone
All throughout the world, humans have enjoyed eating food, but in the United
States, it is crucial that the range of options stays in the marketplace. Diversity is a
range of values or options laid down for choosing. In this world, people cannot help
but see all the differences around them. Especially in food, it is important to continue
seeing these differences as less and less diversity is starting to become a problem.
More diverse options are better than restricted ones. If this is removed, or even
reduced, there will be huge complications (#10). Diversity must stay if people want
happy lives. Here are several reasons why.
Simply being human, means that people need a source of energy to live. This energy
is received from consuming plants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Removing this diversity would make the fun past time of having something to eat, a
boring task to complete. It is one of the humankind s most entertaining pastimes from
watching a ball game to having a nice meal as a family. Life simply would not have
been the same if there were no diversity. Cultures would look similar as their diets
would have little effect on them over time. Many would have similar problems alike
because of the lack of vitamins and minerals needed for food around the world. This
is the main reason why there are import and export policies around the world even to

How Did Louis Armstrong Influence Jazz
Louis Armstrong s influence in early Jazz
Louis Armstrong is often referred to as the Father of Jazz (Yanow, 2016) Louis
Armstrong was born on August 4th, 1901 in New Orleans, Louisiana in an
impoverished neighborhood that was nicknamed the battlefield because the
neighborhood was so poor (Yanow, 2016). When Louis was young, he shot a gun at
his father s new year s eve party and where he was arrested. He was sent to a group
home for boys called the Colored Waif s home for boys , he received music
instruction there and that s where he found his love for music. Louis Armstrong s
fluent style of improvisation, scatting and the depth to his music laid a foundation set
a new standard for generations of Jazz artists after his time.

Another one of the biggest reasons for his contribution to 20th century music was
his ability to swing, when he first came onto the scene in the 1920s, he brought a
complete conception of swing that changed the music (Cogswell, 2003). On
Naughty Man (1924) is where he displayed his earliest use of swing. Much of the
vocabulary that was used in the swing era came directly from Armstrong s concept
of it, so much that artists changed their style of arranging like the artist Don Redman
I changed my style of arranging after I heard Louis Armstrong (Cogswell, 2003).

In Diana George s essay Changing the Face of Poverty, she explains how the issue of
poverty in the United States is misinterpreted. Diana argues that organizations with
the primary goal of eradicating global poverty may be the ones contributing to the
problem they re fighting against. I can agree with George that Americans have some
over simplistic views and stereotypes which then often fail to overturn cultural
commonplaces that represent poverty as an individual problem that can be addressed
on an individual basis. (678) In order to overcome poverty organizations such as
Habit need to move past using the most common understandings of poverty in

Health Information System: A Repository Bank for Modelling and Simulating Health
Outcomes for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Rationale
Over the years, much advancement in different spheres of life has been achieved
using information technology. Man has been able to go to the moon, heavy objects
have been able to fly and go deep into the oceans without sinking, communication
across the planets has been made possible and the world has become a global village
where everything seems in the reach of everyone.
In health and medicine, the advancement that has been accomplished in recent years
with the benefit of information technology is highly significant. The growing
influence of ICT in health has also led to the development of vibrant and robust
health information systems and their management. As time, distance and place are
becoming less relevant among individuals and institutions , having a robust health
information system is a crucial part of a modern healthcare system and facilitates the
discovery and sharing of enormous amount of data for different people, places events
and conditions. Among several conditions for which health information system data
can and have been shared is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a disease
which affects an estimated 15% of New Zealand people who are above 45yrs old.[1]
In an environment like New Zealand that is prone to natural disasters such as

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens Summary
In Sean Covey s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Covey explains ways to
better yourself and how you can better others. He forms each chapter as a different
habit. These habits help with self trust, social skills, and ways to make being a
teenager easier. The habits are divided by private victory and public victory.
Through this book, I learned better ways to communicate and a different look on
the world. Habit one is Be Proactive. Being proactive is when you take the highway
to be the better person instead of overreacting. You can do this by talking a
problem out with someone instead of storming off and making them feel worse
about what they ve done. I occasionally use habit 1. I generally use it when I have
more patience or the situation isn t life changing. Habit one also tells you to not
always go in the fast lane that sometimes you just need to stop and take a break.
Habit one is the root habit. This habit plays into multiple habits to better yourself.
Additionally, Habit two is about taking control of your life instead of letting
someone else take control of it. This Habit is known as Begin with the End in
Mind. This helps to make a plan on how you want tomorrow, next week, and even
the next year to go. In this habit, you learn to construct a mission statement to live
by. I use this habit every once in awhile when I need have a lot to do. This habit is
also a root habit because it helps plan for your future. Habit 3 is all about
prioritizing. In habit two, we learned to know what we want. This habit helps
prioritize what you want and all others can be done later. This habit uses 4 different
time quadrants to show how we all tend to use our time. Quadrant 1 is the
procrastinator. The procrastinator puts everything off to the last minute. This
quadrant is usually stressed out and tends to stay up until the sunrises doing work.
Quadrant three is the yes man. This person is always trying to please people. By
doing this the person ends up making no one happy because they are breaking their
promises. Quadrant 4 is the worst quadrant to be in. This is the slacker. The slacker
spends more time on their phone and playstation rather than actually work. School is
the last thing this person thinks about.

The black characters act justly throughout the novel by treating every one with
equality and respect. In Chapter 12, when Jem and Scout visit Calpurnia s Negro
church for the Sunday service, Lula, a hostile Negro woman tells them impolitely to
leave. Calpurnia defends the children and contradicts Lula by saying, It s the same
God, ain t it? Amidst an argument over the antagonistic rifts between black and
white regimes, Calpurnia acknowledges that all people, no matter the race, worship
the same God, and are therefore equal. During Chapter 12, after the church service,
Reverend Sykes takes up an extra collection of money that is collected towards Tom
Robinson s wife, who has not been able to find work since her husband is sent to jail
since he allegedly rapes a white woman. Reverend Sykes tells the attendees of the
service, I want all of you with no children to make a sacrifice and give one more
dime a piece. The Revenant shows justice by being equal and respectful towards
everyone. In order to be fair he asks those who don t have a familyto feed and shelter
to donate an extra dime, and not forcing those who have a family to donate extra
money. During his testimony in Chapter 19, Tom Robinson states a different story
than that of Mayalla s; he is then questioned on whether he is accusing Mayella of
being a liar. Tom refuses to accuse Mayella of lying, but persistently says that she is
mistaken in her mind. This shows Tom s unrelenting respect and honest living; even
though Mayella is unjust to him, he continues to treat her with justice and respect
because he knows that she is just a little girl who is lonely and even though she sent

Analysis Of Cesar Chavez s Wrath Of The Grapes Boycott
Cesar Chavez addresses a speech that marks history known as the Wrath of the
Grapes Boycott, 1986 in which he expresses his feelings towards farmwork and the
worth of humanity. Cesar Chavez main argument was to regulate the use of
pesticides in the agricultural industry. The pesticides that were being used in the
farms were detrimental to the health of many of the laborers. They polluted the air,
water, earth and the health of the people. In no way was this beneficial to anyone s
health. Chavez objective was to boycott the grapes and show the agricultural industry
that they deserved to be treated better. Chavez speech was meaningful because he
was one of the first mexican american leader who fought for equality amongst farm
laborers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later Chavez became a national leader and resigned in 1962 to devote his time to
farm laborers ( Cesar Chavez ). During this period Chavez encountered the
conditions that he would dedicate his life to changing: wretched migrant camps,
corrupt labor contractors, meager wages for backbreaking work, bitter racism (Cesar
Chavez). One of biggest factors was the use of pesticides which was harming the
health of the farm workers.
This was motivation for Chavez to rise up and do something for the farmworkers.
The pesticides that were being used were harmful to the workers. This addresses the
credibility of being a first hand witness because of pesticide use. In that same year
Cesar Chavez founded the National Farm Workers Association that later became
United Farm Workers( The Story Of Cesar Chavez ). Chavez informed the people of
the working conditions and the bad pay. Chavez strategy was to have non violent
marches, strikes and fasts. He encouraged the Farm Workers be be nonviolent and
do things right. The conditions they were working in where harmful to their health
because of the pesticides. The marches, strikes, and fasts led to a success in the
grape boycott In 1970. Table grape growers at long last signed their first union
contracts granting workers better pay, benefits and protection (Kim). But 20 years
later the fight started again. This led for to a second boycott

Work Is Calculated As Force X Distance
Pg 377: Answer 1: Exerting a force does not imply that work is done. Work is
calculated as Force x Distance. Work is said to be done on an object when the force
on the object causes the object to move some distance. Ife the object does not move,
no work is done immaterial of how much force is exerted. There are many situations
when force is exerted but work is not done. For example, if you hold a piece of wood
while helping in a project, effort is done to hold the wood in place, but since the
force doesn t cause the wood to move, work is not said to be done. The force has to
be in the direction of motion to require work to be done. Answer 2: The formula for
calculating work is: Work (J) = Force (N) x Distance (m) Thus, the amount of work
done can be determined by multiplying Force with Distance. Answer 3: Here two
scenarios are given. a.Force of 2N moves an object 3 meters: Here work is calculated
as: W = F x D = 2N x 3m = 6 Nm (6 Joules) b.Force of 3N moves an object 2 meters:
Here work is calculated as: W = F x D = 3N x 2m = 6 Nm (6 Joules) Thus, in both
cases, the work done is same, i.e. 6 Joules. Answer 4: Here, we need to move 5 large
cans of paint from basement to the second floor. Let us assume that the Force for
lifting one can is 1N and the height of one floor is 1m. Thus, the below two scenarios
are taken as: a.When all the cans are lifted and taken to second floor all at once, the
calculation for work done is: W = 5N (5 cans each of 1N) x 2m (2 floors each

Lab Report On Osmosis
In this lab, we performed two experiments to understand the process of osmosis and
its relationship with solute concentration, and how water potential is affected by
temperature. In the first part of our lab (there was no hypothesis for this experiment),
where we used dialysis tubing to model osmosis and its relationship to solute
concentrations, we observed how the percent change in mass increased as the solute
concentration of the solutiondid. The percent change in mass was positive, meaning
that the dialysis tubing had gained mass after being submerged in the distilled water
solution. This means that the dialysis tubing gained water, which was the result of
osmosis. The water diffused from outside the tubing, through the semipermeable
membrane, into the tubing in all of the cases. Because we know that water diffuses
from high water concentration to low water concentration, we know that the sucrose
solutions in the dialysis tubing had less water concentration than the distilled water
surrounding the tubing. Furthermore, the molarity of the sucrose solutions inside the
tubing increased from 0.2M to 1.0M, which means that the sucrose (solute)
concentration was increasing, so the water concentration was decreasing. This
explains why the percent change in mass increased as the molarity increased; more
water was flowing into the tubing as the water concentration got lower and solute
concentration got higher. In other words, the water was flowing from a hypotonic
solution to a

Comparing Natural Mortality of Sargassum Fish (Histrio histrio) and Blue Runner
(Caranx crysos).
Violeta Curameng
Abstract In the Gulf of Mexico a variety of marine environments can be utilized by
fish. Common environments include Coral reefs and Sargassum. An assortment of fish
can inhabit these environments but which environment they live in depends on their
life history. Histrio histrio (Sargassum Fish) live in the Sargassum and Caranx
Crysos (Blue Runner) live in the open water near reefs. Natural mortality of these
species can be linked to their distribution and their life history strategies.
Introduction
In the Gulf of Mexico there are many different marine habitats that reside in its
waters. From reef environments to floating Sargassum, a diverse variety of fishes
can be found. Sargassum, is a type of brown algae that consists of two species, S.
natans and S. fluitans (Rooker 2006). Sargassum has been linked to primary and
secondary production and can also be a hot spot of production which would be an
ideal habitat for pelagic fishes (Peres 1982). Coral reefs are a habitat that are
common in the Gulf of Mexico, such as, the Flower Garden Banks (NOAA 2017).
There are also many artificial reefs in the gulf that provide shelter for many fish
species (Bull 1994). Of these habitats fish such as, Histrio histrio (Sargassum Fish)
and Caranx crysos (Blue Runner) are abundant. H. histrio can be found hidden in the
Sargassum environments while

4 Little Girls Analysis
The film 4 Little Girls (1997) Directed by Spike Lee shows in detail the 16th Street
Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama that occurred on September 15th,
1963. Dr. King comment on the event stating that it is one of the most vicious and
tragic crimes ever perpetrated against humanity . The movie was entirely made
nearly 30 years later, but still gives us an investigative feel while explaining how
Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson and Carol Denise still lived
their lives day to day. Through the use of eye witness, family members, and friends
we are given a detailed analysis of the event and the aftermath while juxtaposing
church desecrations from the mid 1990 s. and institutional racism. 4 Little Girls was
also well received by critics and truly a test for an experienced filmmaker. In the
DVD extras we watched in class Spike Lee said that he was interested in making
this film back when he was in film school, but didn t have the money or the
connections to make it happen. After a few years after school he made a couple of
films and built his background in filmmaking before considering a documentary about
the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. He had met with some of the parents and
family long before making 4 Little Girls. He spent years building up the
relationship with them and the community. The families probably would not let any
other director other than Spike Lee and they had to know it was right to trust him.
This idea of trust was important because the film focuses on the community heavily
while also making parallels with the girls and their families. Spike was asking if he
needed narration and what the structure should be. I basically said the structure
should be that there are parallels the family, the history of the community and then
they come together on the explosion. (Lee) This approach is interesting because a
lot of the film is giving you a sense of what life was like for African Americans and
the white people that lived in Birmingham in 1963. The film covers civil rights
demonstrations and shows local facilities past and present. Structurally, 4 Little Girls
is a conventional, expository documentary organized into five chapters: portraits of
the young girls;
Position Paper on Stephen Covey
Position Paper on Stephen Covey s, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
MG 401 Senior Seminar in Management Introduction In 1989, Stephen Covey s
book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People started a landmark revolution in how
we think about time and life management. In this book, Covey presents seven
principles for developing effectiveness in our private and public lives. By developing
these habits, one moves from being dependent on other people to being and acting
independently. Then we learn how to move to the more advanced state of
interdependence and successful Cooperation. As a part of the seven habits, Covey
introduced important and powerful techniques of time management under the habit
of Put First Things First. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Argument Stephen Covey has much to say on the qualities of effective people.
Covey s purpose in detailing the seven habits is to help people improve
themselves. The seven habits are woven into a diagram that shows the working of
all seven habits in communion. When viewing the diagram, one is reminded of
Benjamin Franklin s engraving of the snake which was divided into thirteen
pieces, with the caption Join or Die. Each of the seven habits is integral to viewing
the picture as a whole, as well as seeing the development from dependence to
independence to interdependence. The first three habits, which lead to
independence, a private victory, lead to the final four steps, which include public
victory. My favorite quote of the book is It is nobler to give yourself completely to
one individual than to labor diligently for the salvation of the masses. (Page 201).
My job places me in a position of leadership over other leaders. Often I see these
leaders locked into a limited vision when faced with a difficult situation. They see
only a win/lose or lose/lose scenario. I reflect back on this book frequently and
think about the book s section on win/win and seeing outside the box. The first habit
talks about being proactive; being proactive is the foundation of the entire seven
habits paradigm. In a sense, all the other habits are types of being proactive. This
entails a realization that you are a person who
Political And Social Consequences Of The Protestant...
Discuss the political and social consequences of the Protestant Reformation in the
first half
of the sixteenth century.
In the 16 century Martin Luther came with ideas of Protestantism that led to religious
wars,
social division, change of attitude of people, and church position and power in the
society.
Protestant reformation appealed to all classes and changed the attitude of people by
giving them more freedom and faith. Peasants felt more free in religious sense
because
they could prey to god directly. One of the main idea of Protestantism was that the
faith
was only between an individual and god, and no church should be involved in
relationship
of god and people. Luther was against the clergy.

Because people could pray directly to god and read the bible by themselves, people

Beethoven s Seventh Symphony Analysis
Symphony No. 7 in A Major (Op. 92), completed in 1812, might have been one of
Ludwig Van Beethoven s most popular pieces. The seventh of Beethoven s nine
symphonies, its premiere concert (December 1813 in Vienna) was performed at a
charity concert in order to benefit the soldiers who had been wounded a few months
prior in the battle of Hanau. It was performed three times in ten weeks following its
premiere. During the time of the symphonys premiere, Vienna was still distressed
due to being taken over by Napoleon in 1805 and 1809 and yearning for victory; the
audience at the premiere seemed to have loved the energy and beauty of the piece.

The Seventh Symphony itself can and has been described in many words and
fashions. It s victorious, moving, energetic, powerful, and full of heart. The piece is
known for its rhythmic devices (such as dotted rhythm and repeated rhythmic
figures) and the celebratory emotion to it, in which makes listeners want to dance
and burst into blissful joy. It involves four movements: 1. Poco sostenuto Vivace, 2.
Allegretto, 3. Presto Assai meno presto (trio), and 4. Finale, Allegro con brio. The
score includes two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, two horns, two
trumpets, two drums (in which are tuned to A and E, except in the scherzo where
they are in F and A), and basses. The first movement is in A major, with repeated
modulations between C major and F major. The second movement also includes
modulations (originally in A minor with switches to A major) and the third
movement is in F major. The first movement of Symphony No. 7 is noted for its
long ascending scales as well as its applied dominants relative to its C major and F
major modulations. The Introduction begins with a short A chord from the full
orchestra. After eight bars, the piece has briefly entered the key of F major already
and is now accompanied by scales of two octaves which begin softly, similar to the
way a person creeps up and down a staircase. These scales repeat, gradually becoming
louder and more extravagant. The third theme
Language Is The Primary Form Of Communication For
The...
Introduction:
Language can play many different roles in our day to day life. It s a means of
communication and a way of expressing our needs, wants, feelings and emotions.
The purpose of this essay is to firstly highlight the important role language plays in
every stage of a child s life, while also examining the learning processes and cues that
are used by children to understand written, oral and visual language. Secondly,
discuss what it means for a child to be multiliterate in today s society as technology
continues to increase. And lastly how language arises from cultural and social
contexts, and is understood by people in terms of their own social and cultural
backgrounds (Green, 2006). Gestural:
Language is the primary form of communication for the human race and can be both
seen and heard and can incorporate a range of modes including music, movement,
dance, story telling, visual arts, media and drama, as well as talking, listening,
viewing, reading and writing (EYLF, 2009). While oral and written languages are
the most common amongst people, meaning can also be conveyed through visual
forms such as gestures, posture, facial expression, eye contact and movement. When
people are not able to communicate properly and pick up on these important signals
they are significantly disadvantaged in many ways (Fellowes, Oakley, Ivonne, 2014).
Sign language is a perfect example of language that can be seen and not heard as it s
a form of communication through which people

Executive Privilege And Public Knowledge
Executive privilege assures that the president can have open and honest
communication within the Oval Office between his staff and advisors. It also
ensures that those conversations are entitled to be private. Executive privilege
happens throughout various presidencies. The primary controversy of it is whether
or not the president has the right to use it in order to withhold information from
Congress or judicial proceedings. There is an ongoing discussion in regards to who
really needs to know who the president is meeting with and what the context of the
conversation is, as well as where to draw the line to distinguish what is private and
what is public knowledge. Former President George W. Bushinvoked executive

The second claim denied a congressional committee to view the Department of
Justice s consultation on Clinton s fundraising methods while he was president.
This sparked controversy because it was the first time a president used executive
authority to prohibit Congress from seeing a previous action taken by a former
president while he was in office. The third claim Bush made was to alter the intent
of the Presidential Records Act of 1978 in a way that made it harder for the public to
get access to the papers of past presidential administrations.
The fourth claim of executive privilege was the refusal to hand documents over to
Congress regarding the death of Pat Tillman. Pat Tillman s official cause of death
was unconfirmed and originally assumed he was killed my enemy fire. In the end, it
was revealed that it was a friendly fire incident that ended his life. President Bush
refused to give the documents to Congress because he said the documents associate
with executive confidentiality interests.
The fifth executive privilege claim made by the Bush Administration was to protect

partisan reasons. This ignited a lot of protests, especially within Congress because it
obviously hindered their investigation. The decision to fire nine federal prosecutors

National Student Debt
RESOLUTION ANALYSIS
Background of Controversy: As the cost of education is on the rise students and their
parents are trying to come up with the money to go to college. The usual steps are to
seek grants from the government, private organizations, and from organizations setup
through the colleges themselves. There are also loans that are made through the
private sector and those from government based organizations. Some students go as
far as trying to pay for college using credit cards. In the end students seeking higher
education graduate with enormous debt, creating a larger burden on the economy and

fundamental to the American Dream or as essential for America s success as a
good education. This has never been more true than it is today. At a time when our
children are competing with kids in China and India, the best job qualification you
can have is a college degree or advanced training. If you do have that kind of
education, then you re well prepared for the future because half of the fastest
growing jobs in America require a Bachelor s degree or more. And if you don t have
a college degree, you re more than twice as likely to be unemployed as somebody
who does. So the stakes could not be higher for young people like Stephanie.
And yet, in a paradox of American life, at the very moment it s never been more
important to have a quality higher education, the cost of that kind of that kind of
education has never been higher. Over the
Trans-Sharan Trade Research Paper
The Trans Saharan trade was at the peak of formation from the 8th century until
the early 17th century. The trade route existed before those times but was not as
predominant. The route required one to travel across the Sahara from North to
South. They would go from sub Sharan Africa to the North African Coast or
Europe to the Levant and vis versa. In Libya and Algeria, thee area was made more
of pastoralism which was where they had farms and herded goats and sheep. They
also had large settlements. They eventually had cattle around 4000 BC. These ideas

The camel was introduced around 300 CE by the Arabs. They were very well
suited for travel in deserts because they can drink up to twenty five gallons of
water in one feeding. Their eyelashes also prevent them from getting sand in their
eyes; however, they could not carry very much weight. Otherwise, the route would
have been too dangerous and long and would have weighed out any income. They
traveled in large caravans mainly for gold which was sought in western and central
Sudan. Gold was mainly needed for the making of their coinage. Salt was another
big commodity that was found in the Mediterranean. Other examples of popular
trade goods would be gold dust, carbuncles, ivory, ostrich feathers, and furs. Since
gold was abundant in sub Saharan and salt was abundant in the Mediterranean the
trade route was mostly used to promote trade between the two. Berbers financed
more caravans because places like Sijilmasa were in demand for more gold and
bought it from the Berbers. The Berbers had two different groups; Taureg s, central
and Southern area, and Sanhaja s, West. This also affected the Berbers religion and
were beginning to convert to Islam. The Land of the Gold was then established in
Mali and Ghana. The trade had other effects as well. For example, it created conflict
between small nomad groups and Berbers because they dominated land. Another
conflict was the caravan traffic was dominated by the nomads but

Is Pi A Better Predictor Of Social Creativity Than...
Multiple Intelligence (MI) theory (Gardner, 1983) has expanded the concept of
intelligence to include academic abilities (linguistic and logical mathematical) as well
as aptitudes/talents (kinesthetic, music, spatial, naturalist) and personal intelligences
(interpersonal and intrapersonal). Gardner used an inclusive definition of intelligence:
an ability or set of abilities that allows a person to solve a problem or fashion a
product that is valued in one or more cultures and it has direct applications to
instruction, curriculum design, and career counseling at all age levels (Armstrong,
2006; Campbell Campbell, 1999; Gardner, 1993).
In this research, we investigate Practical Intelligence (PI), Fluid Intelligence (FI)
and social creativity. The aim of our study is to explore the relationship between
these three concepts. More specifically, the main hypothesis that this study
explores is that PI is a better predictor of social creativity than classical intelligence,
measured by a Fluid Intelligence test. From an economic perspective, it is worth
mentioning that people with developed skills, acquired knowledge and sufficient
years of experience are more capable to find ways to solve problems that occur in
their everyday life and their workplace using their creativity. Thus, people with
developed practical intelligent skills could become an advantage for the industries
around economy. They also can be more productive and efficient comparing to people
that lack in PI. It

In general, wireless routers control access to their management interface by using
the hypertext transport protocol (HTTP) as the default authentication protocol. In
other words, when you connect to your wireless router from a web browser
(typically http://192.168.1.1), and then submit your login credentials, the HTTP
protocol is used to transmit your login credentials to the router. Because HTTP
does not provide encryption, your login credentials are sent to the router over the
air in clear text. In this case, an attacker eavesdropping on your WLAN would be
able to capture this information and use it to access the router as an administrator.
Once your router is compromised an attacker can then use it to stage attacks such as
man in the middle (MITM), modify unencrypted data, or even send users to evil twin
websites. To avoid this type of catastrophe, the router s default authentication method
should be changed from HTTP to hypertext protocol with secure sockets layer (or ...

For example, if a user exceeds a certain number of failed login attempts the system
will either lock the user out of the system or prevent any future attempts for a
specified period of time. Although an account lockout policy is designed to take
time away from the attacker, so that the brute force attack will fail, this is only true
if the attack is performed on an online database. For example, if the user account s
database is copied to a flash drive, and thus taken offline, the attacker could then
perform brute force attacks on the copied database from their own home, bypassing
your security policies all together. [explain how a hacker could accomplish this copy

It has been a decade since Kolkata s Saint of Gutters , Mother Teresawent home to
God. But Missionaries of Charity, the order established by Mother in 1950, still
continues to feel her divine presence around. The moment one enters the premises
of Mother s House on AJC Bose Road in central Kolkata, one is overwhelmed by a
feeling of warmth, peace and serenity like one has never experienced before. Two
days before her tenth death anniversary, the spirit of Mother Teresa rests in peace
in a white marble tomb, built in the middle of Mother s House, and is surrounded
by devotees, who sit with their heads bowed, paying a silent tribute to the lady who
gave up everything to serve the poorest of the poor . Service to the poorest of the
poor still continues to be the fundamental article of faith in Missionaries of Charity.
Jesus is the bread of life is written in flowers over Mother s tomb, and a soft
fragrance of incense wafts through the air to create an aura of unmatched divinity.
The room adjacent to Mother s tomb holds her possessions and

Essay On North Korea Genocide
Genocide s have been going on throughout history and have had different effects on
the people around them. Some of these genocide s have been from political leaders,
others not. Genocide s can target a certain race, ethnicity, or gender. Some genocide
s do not target but in most cases they do. These genocide s are a terrible thing that
we still haven t learned from. The fact that they are still going on is reason enough.
The Holocaust and North Koreaare both genocide s that have and still are ruining
the lives of those involved. A lot of genocide s have their similarities and differences
but there is no real way to compare any two genocide s. They are both murders.
The Holocaust is perhaps the most well known genocide because of how many ...

citizens allowing for thousands of people to starve to death all around. This
genocide isn t primarily targeted towards any one group but is instead depriving
people of their basic rights. They are getting tortured, killed in masses, and having
their freedoms ripped away. In an article by hir.harvard.edu they said that,
Hundereds of thousands of North Koreans have fled to China to survive. The
majority are women, 80 percent of whom are sex trafficked or sold into forced
marriages. An example of having freedoms ripped away would be the camps set
up in North Korea. Christians and other people of religion are not allowed to pray

minorly step out of line you could get killed. An article entitled Genocide in North
Korea states that North Korean refugees who flee to China carry a knife, because
they would rather kill themselves then get caught by the
Sterilization Law
Forced sterilization of people during the holocaust remained another major issue.
Many people died due to the procedures for sterilization (Friedlander 30). Also, the
Nazi s did not only sterilize Jews, they sterilized the mentally ill and those of mixed
race (Forced Sterilization). Although the Nazi s conducted this horrible event, they
were not the only one, nor the first. Hitler and his cabinet approved the first eugenic
law only six months after his taking over of office. This law stated that handicapped
people could apply for sterilization, but physicians, doctors, and nurses could also fill
out the application (Friedlander 26). The Sterilization Law interpreted the

A German psychiatrist, August Forel, tried to support sterilization of the mentally
ill by stating that it is, a national sacrifice similar to that of a soldier in the time of
war (Evans 106). Also, gynecologist, Edwin Kehere, sterilized female patients that
he believed should no longer be allowed to bring lesser children into the world.
Psychiatrist, Ernst Rudin, even suggested sterilization of alcoholics (Evans 106
7). The court s decided that forced sterilization could take place even against the
will of the person. In 1934, the court sterilized 62,463 people; while in 1935, the
court sterilized 71,760 people then again in 1936 the number went back down to
64,646. Two thirds of the members on each hereditary court held a profession in
medicine so each sterilization case remained a disguise for the procedure
(Friedlander 27). Of the people sterilized, fifty two percent were diagnosed with
congenital feeblemindedness, thirty two percent schizophrenia, fourteen percent
hereditary epilepsy, etc (Friedlander 29). During the years of 1934 and 1936, three
hundred and sixty seven women died during a sterilization procedure while only
seventy men died. Also, in 1934, only half of the intended sterilization procedures
occurred (Friedlander 28). Overall, the

There is a lot of debate on the current use of drones in counterterrorism saying that
they should not be used to kill because the drone pilot no longer experience s war
and the killing becomes casual (Holmqvist, 2013, P541). Thus, making the act of
killing less emotional leaving the operator distant from the killing causing the
pilot to feel numb towards killing. The other side says that these operators get to
see the effects of an attack up close due to the state of art camera images that allow
the operator to witness the chaos from an attack up close in excessive detail. Seeing
death in this type of detail has caused drone operators to develop Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD) that effect ground troop in the same manner after intense
combat operations. Right now, each side is being studied and the finds are still
rudimentary. Other debated topics include: success rate, civilian casualties, legality,
cost and the lack of human boots on the ground. Drones have provided an answer to
the new high tempo of asymmetrical warfare producing success in disabling terrorist
networks around the globe without the need for a large foot print that cost the United
States billions of dollars and a huge occupational army. Therefore, decreasing cost and
A Research Study On The Field Of Psychology
The field of psychology is truly fascinating, as the discovery of new and remarkable
ideas arise with every question a researcher chooses to explore. Where questions can
develop into a research study, which can either solidify, contribute, support, inspire,
or provide answers in the field of psychology. In a sense, researchis a trial and error
approach as researchers are not always cognizant of the results that a study will
provide. However, with sufficient knowledge the researcher can conduct a study,
with less error, should the researcher be aware of a few simple ingredients.
First, as simple as it sounds, knowing whether if a question is sufficient is a good
place to start. Once that has been determined, then the researcher can ... Show more

In conclusion, this writer will be discussing how the statistical model created in
outline form can be useful, its limitations, along with what this writer learned in the
process of creating a unique statistical model of this writer s liking and understanding.
Decision s Model in Outline Form Is your question adequate and sufficient? This is
determined by figuring out whether if you have put enough thought into your
question, if only you can answer the following 4 questions (Sukal, 2013).
(1). What is your overarching research question? (Sukal, 2013)
Note: According to Sukal (2013), this can be determined by figuring out whether if
there are keywords within the question, such as effects to refer to cause and effect
(Sukal, 2013). The word association , indicates figuring out if there is a relationship
amongst the variables (Sukal, 2013). The word prediction can signify regression
(Sukal, 2013).
(2). How many Independent Variables (IV), Dependent Variables (DV), and covariate
variables are in the study? (Sukal, 2013).
Note: The dependent variable is thought of as the criterion or consequence variable,
while independent variable is thought to be the predictor or the variable that brings
out an effect on the dependent variable (Sukal, 2013). Further, a variable is
something a person plans to observe, manipulate, test, record, or evaluate
Models From Simple Random And Complex Survey Designs
Models (GLM) to data from simple random and complex survey designs. This
program supports a range of sampling distributions including Gaussian, inverse
Gaussian, multinomial, binomial, negative binomial, Bernoulli, Poisson, and gamma.
The last program, MAPGLIM can be used to fit GLM models to the multilevel data.
Each of these programs can function as stand alone program.
To estimate a model with missing data, LISREL by default uses the full information
maximum likelihood (FIML) approach. However, users may also opt to impute
missing values using either expectation maximization or Markov Chain Monte Carlo
algorithms. Beginning with version 9.10, LISREL will automatically provide robust
estimation of standard errors and chi square statics if a raw file is used as a data
input. The default estimation method in LISREL is Maximum Likelihood (ML) even
if an estimated asymptotic covariance matrix is provided, but the users may override
the default when setting up the model.
Together, the LISREL 9.2 package makes possible estimations of a wide range of
statistical used in educational research, such as exploratory and confirmatory factor
analysis (EFA and CFA) with continuous and ordinal variables, multiple group
analysis, multilevel linear and nonlinear models, latent growth curve models, and
generalized linear models (GLM) to complex survey data and simple random sample
data (Byrne 2012; Sörbom 2001).

Address To The Young Men s Lyceum Of Springfield
Summary
Throughout the course of American history, we have faced a wide variety of
dangers. Some of those dangers threaten the very existence of our government.
Abraham Lincoln saw the greatest source of danger coming from within our own
country. In his Address to the Young Men s Lyceum of Springfield, he declared, If
destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. The dangers that
we have faced have come from the uncontrolled desires of ambitious men. These
men often have no true regard for the laws of the nation. They place their own
importance before that of their fellow man. These men perpetuate a continuing
disregard for the law. Obedience to law is essential for the preservation of America.

He challenged the idea that property rights were superior to human rights. The
unequal distribution of resources needed to be addressed. Roosevelt asserted, the
resources of the earth were placed here for the use of man in the mass ... they are
not to be sized by a few for the purpose of oppression of the many. Changes in the
relationship between business and property were needed to preserve the rights of
man. The society that has been dominated by the interests of businesses and the
select few was detrimental to America s prosperity. A balance business and
property would benefit all involved, and perpetuate the success of America. Much
of the strife in America resulted from the victimization of the poor; however, with
the redistribution of resources, equality would be obtainable for all Americans. All
people must have the power to make effective changes in society. The fundamental
component that allows for democracy is the right of self governance. Lincoln and
Roosevelt both believed that the power of the government should be held by the
people. By promoting political involvement by the citizenry, democratic ideas
flourish when the voices of the people can be heard. The basis of democracy is to
promote the liberties and freedoms of the

Early Childhood And Child Development
After reading chapter 6 of the textbook, I have realized that children early years are
severely important because they provide the foundation for the rest of their life, as
adolescent, and as adult. Children that are well nurtured can live well and be
sociable. Early childhood is the most rapid period of development in a human life. A
child creates their own sense of identity. Indeed, it is important for a child to have a
sense of identity. Although individual children develop at their pace, all children
progress through an identifiable sequence of physical, cognitive, and emotional
growth and change. The early child developmentapproach is based on that children
respond best when caregivers use specific techniques designed to encourage and
stimulate progress to the next level of development. Early childhoodis the time during
which essential, intellectual, and emotional abilities form. Keeping young children
safe and nurturing them is protective against lifelong problems. Including the risk of
becoming involved in violence. Early experiences affect the brain development,
shaping the brains physical growth and sculpting neural connections. This occurs
primarily between birth and school age years. Besides, the family, community and
society are powerful in shaping young children s development. They grow at a very
rapid rate during the first one and a half years of life. Their development is not only
physical, it is also mental, emotionally, and social. These developments are

  • 2. Chapter Seven Teaches Us That There Are More Addictions Chapter seven teaches us that there are more addictions other than substance addictions. These can be described as behavioral or process addiction. Most of these addictions include compulsive and obsessive behavior which are comparable to substance addictions. There are several process addictions. For example, eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia and other structures of disorder eating. Shop lifting, internet, sex/love addiction, gaming, gambling, and self harm are other examples of addictions. These process addictions have some unique features. Almost all the process addiction can be considered legal. Individuals often get a sense of control, which they use to cope with pain. It provides a feeling of intense pleasure and happiness. ... The battle between the Union and the Confederacy lasted three days, from July 1, 1863 to July 3, 1863 and in the end the Union was victorious. The Battle of Gettysburg was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. The medical knowledge and equipment that the surgeons had back then were no match the types of illnesses and injuries that the soldiers had. The people that were that got shot during the Civil War, either had to get a body part amputated, got their gunshot wound covered with a bandage, opened up the wound to get the bullet out and then patch them up. Three people from The Killer Angels that got shot and just got their wound wrapped with bandage were John Buford, Buster Kilrain, and a runaway slave. John Buford who was thirty seven years was the Brigadier General for the Union and was a cavalry soldier. In the novel it states, He had been hit once in the legs arm and the bleeding had stopped but the genuine pain was just the beginning. They had wrapped the arm and put his coat back on and he did not show injury (146). Without proper inspection of the wound and removing it, this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now we thoroughly wash our equipment and wounds have a slimmer chance of infection. More equipment have been made to treat injuries. There was less equipment to use back then so they would be low on supplies easily and faster. John Buford, Buster Kilrain and the slave were all treated the same way. With the advances that we ve overtime since the Civil War the people who fought in the Battle of Gettysburg would have had a better chance of survival, fewer risks of infection, disease prevention, and ways to deal with the

The Governess s Desire in Henry James s The Turn of the Screw Henry James s The Turn of the Screw paints a landscape that is ripe for psychoanalytic analysis. He has chosen language and syntax that symbolize his main character s psychological fragmentation and her futile attempt to mend herself. Many of Lacan s theories emerge as the Governess reveals her motivations through her recollective narrative. The Governess enters the Imaginary Stage of Lacan s psychoanalysis theory when she sees herself in the mirror on her first night at Bly. She recalls, the long glasses in which, for the first time, I could see myself from head to foot... and as her idealized image gazes back, the Governess has now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The picture of Bly painted by the Governess pulsates with men who are not there; their absent presence agitates the Governess s anxiety over her own fragmentation. The master has abandoned her physically and emotionally, Miles has potential but is only a child, and Peter Quint is nothing more than air. Even though they are unavailable to her, the Governess s desire to be what these pseudo men desire becomes the driving force behind her actions. In order to please the master, the Governess makes it her mantra to carry out her agreement to in charge of Bly (a traditional male role and yet the Governess remarks, Well, I was strangely at the helm! )without engaging him in any of the messy details. In order to please Miles, the Governess indulges his late night wanderings and until he brings up the subject, does not pester him with questions about his expulsion from school. To please Peter Quint, the Governess makes herself available to him by strolling alone across the grounds. None of these attempts to fulfill these imagined desires fulfills the Governess, of course, because unity of self is not possible. There is no phallic presence at Bly and according to Lacan, none is forthcoming. Ironically, the other present characters at Bly are also fragmented and desire to fulfill the Governess s desires, if the narrative is reliable. Mrs. Grose, who could very well slap the Governess back into
  • 5. Cultural Considerations Cultural Considerations. It has been observed that professionals cannot offer effective support for families without understanding the systems within which the families exist and function (Enwefa, Enwefa, Jennings, 2006). Given the great importance of support systems for families affected by IDD, it is necessary to consider cultural factors which may affect such systems in either a positive or negative manner. Across cultures, people tend to have varying beliefs about disability (Kayama, 2010), which at times may function as barriers, preventing access to supports and services (Cagran et al., 2011; White, 1987). Kayama (2010) asserts that systemic change may lead to revised perceptions and beliefs among families, moving them from segregationist and negative views, toward a perspective of inclusion. Additionally, it is to be expected that interventions for families affected by IDD will need to differ from one culture to the next. This is true not only because of linguistic differences but also because of differences in cultural beliefs and values. FQOL is a construct that is perceived in ways that vary significantly from one culture to another (Anzar and Castanon, 2005). For example, GinГ©, Vilaseca, GrГ cia, and Mora et al. (2013) developed instruments that proved to be effective for measuring FQOL among families in Spain affected by IDD and creating action plans based on them. It differs from similar instruments used in other cultures, because it is tailored to the

  • 7. Pros And Cons Of Banning The Hijab Should the headscarf be banned? Recently there has been a push towards banning religious symbolism from the media, especially the hijab. The hijab is a veil that Muslim women wear around their heads to cover their hair and their bosoms; it symbolizes faith and modesty. Many people fear or in some cases feel bad for people who wear the headscarf including niqabs and burqas because they are uneducated and/or ignorant of Islamic teachings which lead them to create inaccurate assumptions and accusations on the matter. Most may believe banning the head scarf will benefit the community in ways that they believe will make people feel more comfortable and they also believe that it will benefit the women who wear the hijab because of the belief that Muslim women who wear the headscarf are oppressed, however, banning the head scarf would lead to discrimination, the contradiction of Canadian values, and go against the religious beliefs of Muslims. Contrary to the popular argument that the banning of religious symbols, particularly the hijab will stop discrimination since everyone will be the same, it actually will deteriorate. discrimination is not caused by the differences, it is caused by ignorance. For instance, after banning the hijab in France and parts of Europe hate speech affecting ethnic and religious minorities [... rose, along with] hate crimes targeting Muslims (El Aabedy. How does the EU hijab ruling affect Muslim women? ). This creates an unsafe environment for Muslims and their families because they are not allowed to continue their religious practices if they want to be treated equally and given more job opportunities. Although, feminism is strongly fought for in most places the fight should be for the rights of all women instead of only women choosing to wear less, not for women choosing to wear more, (Warda El Kaddouri qtd. El Aabedy). The way that one chooses to dress should not determine their value as a human. In other cases the ruling allows private businesses in Europe [to] forbid Muslim women [employees] from wearing headscarves if the ban is part of a policy of neutrality within the company and not a sign of prejudice against a particular religion, ( High European Union court rules

Mr. Kroger invested his life savings of $372 to open a grocery store in downtown Cincinnati. He started his business with the motto: Be particular. Never sell anything you would not want yourself. Kroger now has over 2,600 stores in 34 states with annual sales of over 108.5 billion. This makes Kroger one of the world s largest retailers. Kroger supermarkets were the first to establish their own bakeries in store. Kroger operates 37 food processing facilities. Kroger has become large enough to develop their own private label items that account for 26% of their total sales today. Kroger has merged with several companies expanding its range across the United States. They have merged with companies such as Dillon Companies Inc, Fred Meyer Inc, and Harris Teeter. The merger in 1999 with Fred Meyer was huge for Kroger simply because Kroger became the market with the largest geographic span. In 1972, Kroger became the first grocery retailer to use the electronic scanner. They also use QueVision which is a faster checkout program that allows less time at checkout. Unlike Publix, they utilize the self checkout systems which allow customers to checkout at their convenience. The technology that has been used for many years at Kroger helps them to strategically set up their stores to maximize sales.. (History of Kroger, 2015.) Publix supermarkets were started September 6, 1930.
  • 11. Similarities Between The Weary Blues And Lepanto Poem Analysis: The Weary Blues by Langston Hughes and Lepanto by G. K. Chesterton Poetry has been used across different contexts, particularly in historical settings. At one point, compositions such as poems were written in an effort to document certain dimensions that prevailed during specific times and periods. Interestingly, compositions written in different contexts possessed definite similarities regardless of aspects such as the setting of the poem or the time or period during which the literary element was developed. Following this fact, the respective discourse will concentrate on two particular poems. These comprise The Weary Blues by Langston Hughes and Lepanto by G. K. Chesterton. Hughes poem, The Weary Blues was written during the 1920s period based on its representation of an African American persona (The Negro) as the lead and sole character in a setting that does not gratify his basic needs. At the time, the social framework was heavily defined by racial segregation between the white majority and the African American population, which largely comprised slaves. Additionally, regulations such as the Jim Crow Laws succeeded in the reinforcement of racism by establishing a social based boundary between white people and African Americans. The hardships that the latter encountered at the time influenced the creation as well as development of different literary compositions. Topics that were covered at the time focused on issues surrounding bigotry such as illiteracy, destitution, infringement on personal rights, unemployment, social immobility, and significant racial
  • 12. Literary Devices In Ernest Hemingway s A Farewell To Arms Ernest Hemingway s A Farewell To Arms is a great adventure of ones life. A great love story of a man, Frederic Henry, and a woman, Catherine Barkley, that are in a time of war. Hemingway wanted to connect with his readers and make an amazing story, which he did. Hemingway has a unique way of using words. He uses repetition quite a bit in the story with things like the continuing use of to morrow and on page six talks about the oak trees and the oak forests. The way Hemingway connects to his readers so well is the use of adjectives, also how he sets up his sentences. He uses adjectives that are very common they aren t hard to figure out what they mean. For example, within the first two chapters of the book he explains the summer nights as cool and the whether very nice. They are words that any teenager could read and understand with flying colors. He also sets up his sentences very short and to the point, it s more that he s trying to make us connect to Henry so that we are more involved into Henry. We understand him as a person. We image him doing what he is doing; it s the use of more pronouns so we aren t combining the sentences, he stops just to use another I or me. There were many of wonderful quotes in A Farewell To Arms . The first quote I find ironic, I knew I did not love Catherine Barkley nor had any idea of loving her (Hemingway 26). Considering that Henry and Catherine end up falling in love only for

  • 14. Diversity For Everyone All throughout the world, humans have enjoyed eating food, but in the United States, it is crucial that the range of options stays in the marketplace. Diversity is a range of values or options laid down for choosing. In this world, people cannot help but see all the differences around them. Especially in food, it is important to continue seeing these differences as less and less diversity is starting to become a problem. More diverse options are better than restricted ones. If this is removed, or even reduced, there will be huge complications (#10). Diversity must stay if people want happy lives. Here are several reasons why. Simply being human, means that people need a source of energy to live. This energy is received from consuming plants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Removing this diversity would make the fun past time of having something to eat, a boring task to complete. It is one of the humankind s most entertaining pastimes from watching a ball game to having a nice meal as a family. Life simply would not have been the same if there were no diversity. Cultures would look similar as their diets would have little effect on them over time. Many would have similar problems alike because of the lack of vitamins and minerals needed for food around the world. This is the main reason why there are import and export policies around the world even to this

I can agree with George that Americans have some over simplistic views and stereotypes which then often fail to overturn cultural commonplaces that represent poverty as an individual problem that can be addressed on an individual basis. Health Information System PRPOSED WORKING TITLE Health Information System: A Repository Bank for Modelling and Simulating Health Outcomes for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Rationale Over the years, much advancement in different spheres of life has been achieved using information technology. Man has been able to go to the moon, heavy objects have been able to fly and go deep into the oceans without sinking, communication across the planets has been made possible and the world has become a global village where everything seems in the reach of everyone. In health and medicine, the advancement that has been accomplished in recent years with the benefit of information technology is highly significant. The growing influence of ICT in health has also led to the development of vibrant and robust health information systems and their management. As time, distance and place are becoming less relevant among individuals and institutions , having a robust health information system is a crucial part of a modern healthcare system and facilitates the discovery and sharing of enormous amount of data for different people, places events and conditions. Among several conditions for which health information system data can and have been shared is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a disease which affects an estimated 15% of New Zealand people who are above 45yrs old.[1] In an environment like New Zealand that is prone to natural disasters such as earthquakes; where construction, rebuilding and

He forms each chapter as a different habit. These habits help with self trust, social skills, and ways to make being a teenager easier. The habits are divided by private victory and public victory. Through this book, I learned better ways to communicate and a different look on the world. Habit one is Be Proactive. Being proactive is when you take the highway to be the better person instead of overreacting. You can do this by talking a problem out with someone instead of storming off and making them feel worse about what they ve done. I occasionally use habit 1. I generally use it when I have more patience or the situation isn t life changing. Habit one also tells you to not always go in the fast lane that sometimes you just need to stop and take a break. Habit one is the root habit. This habit plays into multiple habits to better yourself. Additionally, Habit two is about taking control of your life instead of letting someone else take control of it. This Habit is known as Begin with the End in Mind. This helps to make a plan on how you want tomorrow, next week, and even the next year to go. In this habit, you learn to construct a mission statement to live by. I use this habit every once in awhile when I need have a lot to do. This habit is also a root habit because it helps plan for your future. Habit 3 is all about prioritizing. In habit two, we learned to know what we want. This habit helps prioritize what you want and all others can be done later. This habit uses 4 different time quadrants to show how we all tend to use our time. Quadrant 1 is the procrastinator. The procrastinator puts everything off to the last minute. This quadrant is usually stressed out and tends to stay up until the sunrises doing work. Quadrant three is the yes man. This person is always trying to please people. By doing this the person ends up making no one happy because they are breaking their promises. Quadrant 4 is the worst quadrant to be in. This is the slacker. The slacker spends more time on their phone and playstation rather than actually work. School is the last thing this person thinks about.

Cesar Chavez main argument was to regulate the use of pesticides in the agricultural industry. The pesticides that were being used in the farms were detrimental to the health of many of the laborers. They polluted the air, water, earth and the health of the people. In no way was this beneficial to anyone s health. Chavez objective was to boycott the grapes and show the agricultural industry that they deserved to be treated better. Later Chavez became a national leader and resigned in 1962 to devote his time to farm laborers ( Cesar Chavez ). During this period Chavez encountered the conditions that he would dedicate his life to changing: wretched migrant camps, corrupt labor contractors, meager wages for backbreaking work, bitter racism (Cesar Chavez). One of biggest factors was the use of pesticides which was harming the health of the farm workers. This was motivation for Chavez to rise up and do something for the farmworkers. The pesticides that were being used were harmful to the workers. This addresses the credibility of being a first hand witness because of pesticide use. In that same year Cesar Chavez founded the National Farm Workers Association that later became United Farm Workers( The Story Of Cesar Chavez ). Chavez informed the people of the working conditions and the bad pay. Chavez strategy was to have non violent marches, strikes and fasts. He encouraged the Farm Workers be be nonviolent and do things right. The conditions they were working in where harmful to their health because of the pesticides. • 25. Work Is Calculated As Force X Distance Pg 377: Answer 1: Exerting a force does not imply that work is done. Work is calculated as Force x Distance. Work is said to be done on an object when the force on the object causes the object to move some distance. Ife the object does not move, no work is done immaterial of how much force is exerted. There are many situations when force is exerted but work is not done. For example, if you hold a piece of wood while helping in a project, effort is done to hold the wood in place, but since the force doesn t cause the wood to move, work is not said to be done. The force has to be in the direction of motion to require work to be done. Answer 2: The formula for calculating work is: Work (J) = Force (N) x Distance (m) Thus, the amount of work done can be determined by multiplying Force with Distance. Answer 3: Here two scenarios are given. a.Force of 2N moves an object 3 meters: Here work is calculated as: W = F x D = 2N x 3m = 6 Nm (6 Joules) b.Force of 3N moves an object 2 meters: Here work is calculated as: W = F x D = 3N x 2m = 6 Nm (6 Joules) Thus, in both cases, the work done is same, i.e. 6 Joules. Answer 4: Here, we need to move 5 large cans of paint from basement to the second floor. Let us assume that the Force for lifting one can is 1N and the height of one floor is 1m. Thus, the below two scenarios are taken as: a.When all the cans are lifted and taken to second floor all at once, the calculation for work done is: W = 5N (5 cans each of 1N) x 2m (2 floors each

Lab Report On Osmosis In this lab, we performed two experiments to understand the process of osmosis and its relationship with solute concentration, and how water potential is affected by temperature. In the first part of our lab (there was no hypothesis for this experiment), where we used dialysis tubing to model osmosis and its relationship to solute concentrations, we observed how the percent change in mass increased as the solute concentration of the solutiondid. The percent change in mass was positive, meaning that the dialysis tubing had gained mass after being submerged in the distilled water solution. This means that the dialysis tubing gained water, which was the result of osmosis. The water diffused from outside the tubing, through the semipermeable membrane, into the tubing in all of the cases. Because we know that water diffuses from high water concentration to low water concentration, we know that the sucrose solutions in the dialysis tubing had less water concentration than the distilled water surrounding the tubing. Furthermore, the molarity of the sucrose solutions inside the tubing increased from 0.2M to 1.0M, which means that the sucrose (solute) concentration was increasing, so the water concentration was decreasing. This explains why the percent change in mass increased as the molarity increased; more water was flowing into the tubing as the water concentration got lower and solute concentration got higher. In other words, the water was flowing from a hypotonic solution to a

An assortment of fish can inhabit these environments but which environment they live in depends on their life history. Histrio histrio (Sargassum Fish) live in the Sargassum and Caranx Crysos (Blue Runner) live in the open water near reefs. Natural mortality of these species can be linked to their distribution and their life history strategies. Introduction In the Gulf of Mexico there are many different marine habitats that reside in its waters. From reef environments to floating Sargassum, a diverse variety of fishes can be found. Sargassum, is a type of brown algae that consists of two species, S. natans and S. fluitans (Rooker 2006). Sargassum has been linked to primary and secondary production and can also be a hot spot of production which would be an ideal habitat for pelagic fishes (Peres 1982). Coral reefs are a habitat that are common in the Gulf of Mexico, such as, the Flower Garden Banks (NOAA 2017). There are also many artificial reefs in the gulf that provide shelter for many fish species (Bull 1994). The movie was entirely made nearly 30 years later, but still gives us an investigative feel while explaining how Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson and Carol Denise still lived their lives day to day. Through the use of eye witness, family members, and friends we are given a detailed analysis of the event and the aftermath while juxtaposing church desecrations from the mid 1990 s. and institutional racism. 4 Little Girls was also well received by critics and truly a test for an experienced filmmaker. In the DVD extras we watched in class Spike Lee said that he was interested in making this film back when he was in film school, but didn t have the money or the connections to make it happen. After a few years after school he made a couple of films and built his background in filmmaking before considering a documentary about the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. He had met with some of the parents and family long before making 4 Little Girls. He spent years building up the relationship with them and the community. The families probably would not let any other director other than Spike Lee and they had to know it was right to trust him. This idea of trust was important because the film focuses on the community heavily while also making parallels with the girls and their families. Spike was asking if he needed narration and what the structure should be. I basically said the structure should be that there are parallels the family, the history of the community and then they come together on the explosion. (Lee) This approach is interesting because a lot of the film is giving you a sense of what life was like for African Americans and the white people that lived in Birmingham in 1963. The film covers civil rights demonstrations and shows local facilities past and present. Structurally, 4 Little Girls is a conventional, expository documentary organized into five chapters: portraits of the young girls;

Argument Stephen Covey has much to say on the qualities of effective people. Covey s purpose in detailing the seven habits is to help people improve themselves. The seven habits are woven into a diagram that shows the working of all seven habits in communion. When viewing the diagram, one is reminded of Benjamin Franklin s engraving of the snake which was divided into thirteen pieces, with the caption Join or Die. Each of the seven habits is integral to viewing the picture as a whole, as well as seeing the development from dependence to independence to interdependence. The first three habits, which lead to independence, a private victory, lead to the final four steps, which include public victory. My favorite quote of the book is It is nobler to give yourself completely to one individual than to labor diligently for the salvation of the masses. (Page 201). My job places me in a position of leadership over other leaders. Often I see these leaders locked into a limited vision when faced with a difficult situation. They see only a win/lose or lose/lose scenario. I reflect back on this book frequently and think about the book s section on win/win and seeing outside the box. The first habit talks about being proactive; being proactive is the foundation of the entire seven habits paradigm. In a sense, all the other habits are types of being proactive. This entails a realization that you are a person who

The primary controversy of it is whether or not the president has the right to use it in order to withhold information from Congress or judicial proceedings. There is an ongoing discussion in regards to who really needs to know who the president is meeting with and what the context of the conversation is, as well as where to draw the line to distinguish what is private and what is public knowledge. The third claim Bush made was to alter the intent of the Presidential Records Act of 1978 in a way that made it harder for the public to get access to the papers of past presidential administrations. The fourth claim of executive privilege was the refusal to hand documents over to Congress regarding the death of Pat Tillman. Pat Tillman s official cause of death was unconfirmed and originally assumed he was killed my enemy fire. In the end, it was revealed that it was a friendly fire incident that ended his life. The usual steps are to seek grants from the government, private organizations, and from organizations setup through the colleges themselves. There are also loans that are made through the private sector and those from government based organizations. Some students go as far as trying to pay for college using credit cards. This has never been more true than it is today. At a time when our children are competing with kids in China and India, the best job qualification you can have is a college degree or advanced training. If you do have that kind of education, then you re well prepared for the future because half of the fastest growing jobs in America require a Bachelor s degree or more. And if you don t have a college degree, you re more than twice as likely to be unemployed as somebody who does. So the stakes could not be higher for young people like Stephanie. And yet, in a paradox of American life, at the very moment it s never been more important to have a quality higher education, the cost of that kind of that kind of education has never been higher. They would go from sub Sharan Africa to the North African Coast or Europe to the Levant and vis versa. Otherwise, the route would have been too dangerous and long and would have weighed out any income. They traveled in large caravans mainly for gold which was sought in western and central Sudan. Gold was mainly needed for the making of their coinage. Salt was another big commodity that was found in the Mediterranean. Other examples of popular trade goods would be gold dust, carbuncles, ivory, ostrich feathers, and furs. Since gold was abundant in sub Saharan and salt was abundant in the Mediterranean the trade route was mostly used to promote trade between the two. Berbers financed more caravans because places like Sijilmasa were in demand for more gold and bought it from the Berbers. The Berbers had two different groups; Taureg s, central and Southern area, and Sanhaja s, West. This also affected the Berbers religion and were beginning to convert to Islam. The Land of the Gold was then established in Mali and Ghana. The trade had other effects as well. For example, it created conflict between small nomad groups and Berbers because they dominated land. Another conflict was the caravan traffic was dominated by the nomads but

  • 44. Is Pi A Better Predictor Of Social Creativity Than... Multiple Intelligence (MI) theory (Gardner, 1983) has expanded the concept of intelligence to include academic abilities (linguistic and logical mathematical) as well as aptitudes/talents (kinesthetic, music, spatial, naturalist) and personal intelligences (interpersonal and intrapersonal). Gardner used an inclusive definition of intelligence: an ability or set of abilities that allows a person to solve a problem or fashion a product that is valued in one or more cultures and it has direct applications to instruction, curriculum design, and career counseling at all age levels (Armstrong, 2006; Campbell Campbell, 1999; Gardner, 1993). In this research, we investigate Practical Intelligence (PI), Fluid Intelligence (FI) and social creativity. The aim of our study is to explore the relationship between these three concepts. More specifically, the main hypothesis that this study explores is that PI is a better predictor of social creativity than classical intelligence, measured by a Fluid Intelligence test. From an economic perspective, it is worth mentioning that people with developed skills, acquired knowledge and sufficient years of experience are more capable to find ways to solve problems that occur in their everyday life and their workplace using their creativity. Thus, people with developed practical intelligent skills could become an advantage for the industries around economy. They also can be more productive and efficient comparing to people that lack in PI. It
  • 45. Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Term Paper 3.4.1 In general, wireless routers control access to their management interface by using the hypertext transport protocol (HTTP) as the default authentication protocol. In other words, when you connect to your wireless router from a web browser (typically http://192.168.1.1), and then submit your login credentials, the HTTP protocol is used to transmit your login credentials to the router. Because HTTP does not provide encryption, your login credentials are sent to the router over the air in clear text. In this case, an attacker eavesdropping on your WLAN would be able to capture this information and use it to access the router as an administrator. Once your router is compromised an attacker can then use it to stage attacks such as man in the middle (MITM), modify unencrypted data, or even send users to evil twin websites. To avoid this type of catastrophe, the router s default authentication method should be changed from HTTP to hypertext protocol with secure sockets layer (or ... • 58. Early Childhood And Child Development After reading chapter 6 of the textbook, I have realized that children early years are severely important because they provide the foundation for the rest of their life, as adolescent, and as adult. Children that are well nurtured can live well and be sociable. Early childhood is the most rapid period of development in a human life. A child creates their own sense of identity. Indeed, it is important for a child to have a sense of identity. Although individual children develop at their pace, all children progress through an identifiable sequence of physical, cognitive, and emotional growth and change.
