Victory Of Judith
The victory of Judith tells the story of the defeat of Holofernes by Judith. It takes place in the small
Jewish town of Bethulia, which had been surrounded by the Assyrians. Taking into consideration the
fact that the Israelites were outnumbered and running out of water, Uzziah, the village chief, made the
decision to surrender in 5 days time. Judith, a very beautiful widow, said that God was going to save
them by her hand. She dressed herself with her best gowns and jewelry, bathed in perfume, and set out
to where Holofernes was stationed. As she reached the his soldiers, she was questioned as to why she
had come, her reply was I am fleeing from them as they will soon be your prey. I am on my way to see
Holofernes to give him trustworthy information. As she was shown the Commander s tent, Holofernes
was captured by her beauty. On the fourth day, a feast was prepared, with Judith as the main ... Show

However, Judith exhibits a remarkable contradiction. In a battle between good and evil, between a
woman and a man, it is expected for the men to be the hero. However, the ending to his story proves
the woman to be the savior. Unlike many other battles, no war, nor training was needed to win. Judith
used seduction and femininity as a strategy to wile her enemy. Although, when she got back to
Bethulia, she affirmed My face seduced him, only to his own undoing; he committed no sin with me
to shame or disgrace me. It is certain that this women can be seen as a devious seductress. Judith
purposely garnished herself to be irresistible, as a way to tempt Holofernes, as she knew his desires.
Previous to the banquet Holofernes said to his soldiers in a conversation We shall be disgraced if we
let a woman like his go without seducing her. Surely enough, this behavior way irregular for a woman,
whom was expected to be pure and solely devoted to God and her

General Purpose: to persuade
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to be pro illegal immigration.
Central Idea: I will persuade you that illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the
U.S. by sharing with you some information on the subject, arguments on the subject, and
also some solutions to the problem.
Introduction:
Imagine a teenage girl, only seventeen years old having to go three states away to
visit her father. To see him she must enter a building and before she can get to the main
door she has to go through the first fence door, and wait for it to close before the second

3. America was built by immigrants. C. Many immigrants who cannot gain citizenship, who are
denied access into our
country, come here illegally. 1. As I stated earlier, immigrants come here looking for work and/or
education. 2. Many illegal immigrants who are in the U.S. have families they support
back in their home countries. 3. Their home countries are sometimes dangerous, and America offers a
better life. 4. America has some of the best educational opportunities in the world. a. Illegal
immigrants want a chance to better themselves, and have
a good education, to support them selves, and often times most of
their family.
D. One side looks at crime. Failing schools and soaring welfare spending and sees
too many immigrants. The other side, the side I am on, sees America, the greatest
nation on earth, built on the backs of immigrants and still benefiting enormously
from the brains, energy and determination of the nest generation of newcomers.
III. Lastly, I will give you solutions to what people call the problem . A. There are many solutions to
illegal immigration. 1. People against illegal immigration will tell you the solution to the
problem is more border control and stricter laws. 2. However, just like when you tell a child they can t
do something, it

The hiring process for the Federal Bureau of Investigation is quite extensive, however, it is for a very
good reason. The FBI needs to make sure that the people they are hiring are able to keep the country
safe and have the best interest of the United States in mind. The first step an applicant must take when
applying to be hired by the FBI is to make sure that they fit all the eligibility and physical
requirements. During this step of application, candidates may have to go to a field office multiple
times in order to be tested and interviewed. If a candidate lives in another country, or overseas, they
are responsible for getting themselves to the United States at their own expense, in order to be tested
and processed. The applicant may choose the most convenient field office for them. The second step
in the hiring process is online application. When a candidate is filling out the application they will be
asked many questions about eligibility and suitability for the job. Candidates will also have to submit
their scores for their self Physical Fitness Test. A candidate should not lie or estimate their scores
when recording their self PFT results because lying can disqualify a candidate from being considered
further. The FBI states that scores for the self PFT must be submitted within thirty days of beginning

Ford Hybrid Case Study
Paper # 2 Ford Hybrid
09/13/2012
Abstract
Which stages of the project life cycle are evident in the case study?
Did Martens select the right two project managers in Patil and Wright?
What are toughest challenges faced by the project manger during a high visability and high risk
project?
Would you like to have been involved with the Ford Escape Hybrid project?
Paper # 2: Ford Hybrid
The Ford Escape Hybrid program was the midterm step of the company s steps of sustainability. The
program was included in the company s long term plans for more than two decades. The program in
the past decade accelerated rapidly due to increased pressure from recently enhanced EPA regulations
for improved gas mileage and pollution standards. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hybrid Project personnel Decisions The task of managing a project of the magnitude Martens was
assigned could either fail, succeed. The scope of the job contains extremely complex engineering feats
combined with a rigid timeline. The only path for success was to find a project manager well versed in
both aspects of the project. Instead Martens decided to split the responsibilities of the project with two
managers with different experience and subject matter expert qualities. Patil was brought his PhD
scientific experience to the table. While Wright brought the can do spark plug approach to the project.
The two will be instrumental in the projects outcome (Salter 2004).
Challenges
This type of project required an organized approach to working out side of the normal confines of
Ford s production models. The bench mark for success is not in comparison to other previous projects.
Large scale engineering designs had been implemented in the past, but never a machine with dual
means of propulsion. The company had already announced release of the Hybrid and the whole world
was waiting to see the outcome (Tierney 2005).
Member of the Team Having the opportunity to be part of a team steeped in innovative engineering
tradition would be an honor for anyone in the automotive production industry. The overall project
requires more than just strong management, designers, and engineers. The entire project requires

Genetics 382 Lab Report
Genetics 382 Lab Report 1
Robert Kamil (Student #11)
TA: Camille English, Section 4
Rutgers University, Spring 2017
Laboratory 4 Recombination
Testing the Mode of Inheritance of Shaven Bristles in Drosophila Using FlyLab
Objectives The motivation of this lab report is to use Mendel s Laws of Inheritance to analyze and
predict the genotypes and phenotypes of an offspring generation (F2) after knowing the genotypes and
phenotypes of the parent generation (F1). The hypothesis for this experiment is that the mode of
inheritance for the shaven bristle allele in flies is autosomal recessive in both male and female flies.
The data generated with the Flylab software seemed to confirm the hypothesized mode of inheritance
for the phenotype of having the shaven bristles.
Methods
A computer program called FlyLab Software was used to simulate basic principles of genetic
inheritance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These numbers exhibit a 3:1 ratio of normal phenotype flies to affected phenotype flies.
The expected number of wild type flies in the F2 generation is 734.25 and the expected number of
shaven bristle flies in the F2 generation is 244.75. This, again, exhibits a 3:1 ratio of normal
phenotype to affected phenotype.
The expected and observed values were all computed on the FlyLab software.
The degree of freedom in this experiment was 3. The chi square value that was calculated was 1.4481.
The p value was 0.6943.
These values were all computed on the FlyLab software.
Since the p value of 0.6943 is greater than 0.05, the data is said to be statistically significant. This
means the null hypothesis is not rejected and the observed values meet the expected values.

Rehearsal-Personal Narrative
It s the end of the season now. The weather outside is getting cold, the leaves are falling, and the smell
of winter is coming. After school I go to the auditorium for play rehearsal. We begin discussing about
what parts we each will be responsible for. I m not doing very much on the stage in the beginning
because I don t have a part assigned until a later time. To be honest it s very boring when you don t
have a part during a play rehearsal. We are taking a break and I began contemplating the last cross
country race we had as a team.
Its 4 o clock in the evening and we are warming up for practice. Our coach talks to us for a couple of

Essay On Pmp Certification
Introduction CompTIA Project+ is a globally recognized certification for project managers. It is a
requirement for many companies hiring project managers. The certification gives an employee credit
amongst stakeholders and customers. It also helps in promotions or maybe getting a better paycheck
than someone who does not have the certification. Standing out and shining in a career is important
and CompTIA will do that for you in this field. All this goes for PMP certification too. In fact, Project
+ is a great stepping stone to a PMP certification and so on and so forth for CAPM.
Certification Requirements for CompTIA Project + For a CompTIA Project + certification there is no
real requirement to take it. Anyone can take the certification, but not everyone can pass. Passing the
certification test requires dedication to the study material as well as the want to further ones career in
project management. It is an entry level certification, which will help you acquire the job more than
without the certification. There are no prerequisites or application to proceed in testing for the
certification. It is also one of the shortest test for a project management certification. The test is 100
questions with a 90 minute time limit. With a time limit, studying is a must. The scoring is in between
100 900 with at least a 750 score. This scoring system is this way so when a certification is given,
there is certainty it is given in the utmost confidence.

Types Of Portfolio Management
Under certain conditions, however, the possibility of unexpected concentration among some industries
may exist, especially in the period of irrational exuberance and overestimated valuations. In the 1990s,
for example, the upsurge in investing in technology companies resulted in a market bubble. The
technology firms concentrated extremely high on the stock index. Accordingly, investors were putting
at a high risk for the reason that these overvalued companies were given ownership which was out of
proportion by the stocks bought by passive market funds. The aim of passive funds is not to
outperform the market or the index, but to follow the tracks of them. As a result, the performance of
the index will always be lower than the fund ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Standard deviations are an indicator of market volatility and represent risk. The lower standard
deviations, the lower risks of portfolios. Even though the expected market return of active portfolio
does not perform well, the risk of active portfolio is minimized. There is no short selling in the active
portfolio and the the active portfolio is diversified through balanced investment of these ten stocks.
Furthermore, the weights of 10 stocks in the active portfolio are more balanced than the passive
portfolio. Therefore, the investors who pursue high expected market return should choose passive
portfolio and risk averse investors should choose active portfolio. The investors should consider
transaction fees and management fees of active portfolio and investors can insist on choosing active
portfolio if they believe they can have higher return that offset these fees. In conclusion, the active
investing is more flexible than passive investing because active investing does not have to follow a
specific index like S P 500. According to Elton and Gruber (1997), the choice of the portfolio manager
to choose for active portfolio is mainly based on his or her perception on the degree of market
efficiency. There is no doubt that active investing is superior to passive portfolio when market mis
priced the asset. But active

Apush Labor Union Dbq Essay
The 1800s is characterized with the rise of industrial America. As technological advances were
introduced to industry, unskilled labor also rose in accordance to the rise in factories. However, this
rise also introduced several labor unions such as the Knights of Labor, which organized a series of
protests and riots. The labor unions had good intentions, aiming to lower the average work hours for
workers, as well as increase their wages. However, their methods which involved riots and protests,
were altogether not effective, and ended up being detrimental to their cause. Between 1875 and 1900,
labor unions surged and were temporarily successful; however, their methods would prove detrimental
to their cause overtime, leading to their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite being able to cause a small improvement in workers pay and hours, labor unions ultimately
died out by the 1900s due to their methods. Unable to truly focus on the plight of skilled workers,
most labor unions instead focused on that of unskilled workers, pushing aside the skilled workers.
(Doc D). The actions of labor unions ended up being counterproductive, forcing companies to wage
war against the labor unions. These stricter contracts such as that of Western Union Telegraph
Company, forced workers to affiliate themselves against labor unions. (Doc E) One important thing to
note is that the workers rights advocates were never able to coincide on one factor. As evidenced in an
illustration in 1887, labor unions had to compete with other movements such as socialism, anarchism,
and other labor unions. (Doc F). Because of this, the media, although recognizing the labor union
movement, began viewing the labor unions as dangerous entities. Although the initial strikes such as
the Wabash strike were successful, the ones that followed proved detrimental to the movement, and
caused the steady decline of the labor unions. Because some of the strikes were dangerous, many
strikes resulted in the deaths of those involved, such as the Homestead Crisis, and Pinkerton (Doc G).
Combined with events such as the Wildcat strike, Haymarket strike, the Pullman Strike, the public
began to associate a negative

The History Of Greek Mythology
Greek mythology is used for the explanation on how humankind lived. Religion was the main source
of myths. There were many things it was used for like the explanation on how Gods, Goddesses,
monsters and mythical creatures lived in ancient times. This mythology explained the origin of gods
and their lifestyle and where humanity would go after death. The original gods were Uranus and Gaia.
They had a total twelve Titans, one of the most known and powerful Titan was named Iapetus, he repr.
During the Golden Age when Uranus was defeated, Iapetus was in charge of the Western part of the
mythological world, until he was defeated by Zeus and imprisoned. Iapetus was a Titan god from
Greek mythology, from the preceding generation to Zeus and other olympians. Iapetus was the son of

When Zeus fought against his father Cronus and other Titans, the Golden Age finalized. Iapetus was
one of the best and destructive fighters. Iapetus and Zeus at one point fought against each other. Zeus
punished the Titans by sending them to Tartarus, where they were imprisoned. Iapetus and Cronus
were not the exception. These events between Titan and Olympians lasted ten years of war during the
Titanomachy. Iapetus had four children, Atlas, Prometheus, Epimetheus, Menoetius from a second
generation of Titans. They would make Zeus angry and were punished to a degree depending on their
acts. Iapetus ironically lost his power against Zeus although him being considered the most destructive
and powerful.
As one can see, Greeks used Greek Mythology to help people understand how the world was created
and how things came to be. Although there are many myths, Iapetus the god of mortality was a very
important and fascinating mythical creature because he was one of the first twelve titans. His myth
was important to greek mythology because he represented mortality as well as

Causes Of American Civil War
There were many causes to the American Civil War. One Major cause of the Civil War was the
Missouri Compromise. This was a cause because people from other states who were eligible to vote

free state(The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 1). The Missouri Compromise incident also caused
small battles like Bleeding Kansas(Causes of the Civil 1). One other major cause of the Civil War was

FBR-Beige Book Summary
With the looming threat of an economic recession, action needs to be taken to try to minimize the
potential damage. Subprime loans to finance mortgage backed securities have brought instability to
the real estate market. Banks have had to implement tighter lending standards to residential mortgages
to try to offset this instability ( FBR Beige Book Summary, 2007). Though several banks have
reported tighter credit conditions on the commercial real estate market, credit availability and credit
quality remained promising for most borrowers ( FBR Beige Book Summary, 2007). Besides the
turbulence in the real estate market, uncertainty in other financial markets have had a minimal effect

Subprime mortgage loans issued by banks to finance mortgage backed securities have led to a huge
increase in both housing prices and the quantity of houses being built. If housing prices climb too high
above their economic value, there will be no incentive for people to pay their mortgage. Borrowers
may decide to default on their housing loans, and this will lead to a crisis in the real estate market
which could result in a drastic decline of economic performance. The Federal Open Market

Women Are Over Sexualised In The Music Industry Essay
Discussion
To find out whether people believe that women are being commodified in the music industry or not I
created a questionnaire. I asked an equal amount of men and women to get an even opinion from both
genders. The questionnaire had five questions that were:
1. What is your gender?
2. What would you prefer in a music video?
3. When watching a music video, what do you focus on more?
4. Do you think women are over sexualised in the music industry?
5. Do you think men are over sexualised in the music industry?
From conducting the questionnaire I can conclude that 95% of the people I asked believed that women
were being oversexualised. When watching a music video they focused more on the song and
choreography, than how attractive the people in the music video were. The results from the
questionnaire suggest that most people aren t superficial when it comes to the music industry, however

Military Tactics During Ww1
Tactics were the most important element within the nature of warfare during the World Wars. Military
tactics is the organisation of a military force and majorly determined how they would engage and
defeat an enemy in battle. Physically, in comparing the two wars and their tactics, it is evident that
WW1 s tactics were distributed in a more defensive way such as the Gallipoli campaign, trench
warfare, Schlieffen plan and Plan 17 in comparison to WW2 s offensive strategies such as blitzkrieg,
island hopping and airplane bombing.
Many tactics and military plans during WW1 were created in an attempt to break the stalemate
between the two sides caused by trench warfare. The Gallipoli campaign was a prime example of this
aiming to resume a war of movement. Neither side gained ground, but both sides lost millions of
soldiers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hypothesis (EMH)? The Japanese economy has deep structural problems, which the Japanese seem
reluctant to overcome. We do not see any major change in this situation over the next two to three
years. Hence, we advise against investing in the Tokyo stock market, because we expect returns to be
below average for the next two to three years.

Solutions
4.1 Interest Rates [2] Remember the first lesson about market efficiency: Markets have no memory.
Just because long term interest rates are high relative to past levels does not mean that they won t go
higher still. Unless you have special information indicating that long term rates are too high, issuing
long term bonds should be a zero NPV transaction. So should issuing short term debt or common
stock. 4.2 Semistrong [3] All of these are public information, you do not expect them to explain future
changes in stock price. Hence, you can not expect to make excess returns using this information. You
can only use private information to generate excess returns. 4.3 UPS [3] Once the announcement is

Examples Of Idealism In Frankenstein
Initially, the creature has a mind that revolves around idealistic perceptions. These perceptions came
into the picture due to the creatures encounters with humanity. Victor Frankenstein for example,
abandoned the monster at birth, consequently leading to the creature s inevitable distress: But where
were my friends and relations? No father had watched my infant days, no mother had blessed me with
the smiles and caresses;...All my past life was now a blot, a blind vacancy in which I distinguished
nothing (101). This feeling of distress was accompanied by the monster s longing for a family or
companion. This sense of loneliness sparked by Victor s immoral actions is what led to the monster s
first idealistic perception. A perception that regarded the belief that he could mutually and happily
coexist with other humans. A symbolic representation of this is exact idea is the monsters second
encounter with humanity, an encounter which occurs after the monster has had time to ponder and
fantasize about his idealistic perceptions. Confidently and proudly, the monster enters a village full of
humans: But I had hardly placed my foot within the door before the children shrieked. And one of the
women fainted. (74) expecting his idealistic belief to be the truth he was once again disappointed and
so he creature s idealistic beliefs are questioned. Despite this heartbreaking encounter with humanity,
the monster s idealistic perceptions and beliefs only increase further. He alters his

Britain as an Awkward Partner in the European Community...
Britain as an Awkward Partner in the European Community
Britain emerged from the war in a relatively favourable position, compared to its European
neighbours. In 1946 industrial production was as high as at any time pre war, and increasing quite fast.
By the end of the year exports had regained their pre war level along with this there was little
unemployment and retail prices remained fairly stable. All this contrasted strongly with the situation in
France, Germany and Italy. Indeed in the late 1940 s and into the early 1950 s Britain s economy
performed better then it s European counterparts. Churchill suggested that France and West Germany
should lead the creation of a new Europe for justice, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The official line on Britain s non entry being , we are not willing to make prior commitment to a
scheme whose terms of membership are unknown. This also underlines the fact that Britain wanted to
continue as before and thought it could, at the time Britain was producing about one half of the coal
and steel in Europe.
Right from the conception of the European union Britain has stood aloof from the union being very
cautious and wary. From as far back as the creation of the European Steel and Coal Community in
1952 Britain has shown its unwillingness and reservations about joining Europe. The ECSC was set
up under the Treaty of Paris in 1951 with 6 countries signing. These countries were France, Italy,
Luxemburg, Holland and Belgium. Britain was expected to join the ECSC but this was not the case.
Britain at the time had a far superior economy in strength than the rest of its European counterparts
and felt the union would only inhibit them Economically.
In 1955 a congress was held on the creation of a general customs union, to which Britain did not deem
important enough to send more than a civil servant. However even he was recalled from the
conference. This demonstrated the arrogance of Britain at the time that felt that these Treaties and
agreements did not warrant their involvement. Further adding to their

Their results indicate that the students chose not to major in accounting because they perceived it to be
too number oriented and boring.
A study by Friedlan (1995) asked Canadian accounting students both at the beginning and end of the
course the perceived importance of 12 skills on their ability to perform well in introductory
accounting, and the importance of 13 skills for performance as accounting practitioners. While the
Friedlan study assessed students perceptions of the skills needed to perform well academically and
professionally, it did not directly assess students perceptions of the introductory accounting course
itself.
Benefits
There have been several studies that have attempted to examine whether the introductory accounting
course has the ability to attract the best and the brightest students to accounting (e.g., Inman, Wentzler,
and Wicker, 1989; Baldwin and Ingram, 1991; Adams, Pryor, and Adams, 1994; Nelson and Deines,
1995; Riordan, St. Pierre, and Matoney, 1996). Riordan, et al. (1996) examined whether the
introductory course appeared to attract or retain quality students (as measured by GPA). They found
that the mean GPA of intended accounting majors was higher than that of non accounting students
before the introductory course, and that students transferring into accounting after the course had
higher GPAs than those transferring out. These results suggest that the introductory course may

The Political Importance of Zheng He’s Voyages Essay
Accompanied by 27,000 men on 62 large and 255 small ships, the Chinese eunuch Zheng He, led 7
naval expeditions to Southeast Asia, Middle East and east coast of Africa in the span of 28 years
during the Ming Dynasty. The scale of Zheng He s fleet was unprecedented in world history. The large
treasure ships used during the expeditions were purported to be 440 feet long and 180 feet wide
(Dreyer, p. 102). Throughout his travels, Zheng He brought Chinese tea, porcelain and silk products to
foreign countries and also brought back exotic goods to the Ming court such as spices, plants and
leather. Although his voyages fostered commercial trades and cultural exchange between China and
foreign countries, the goal of his expeditions stemmed from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Therefore, the original and main purpose of Zheng He s expeditions to foreign countries was political
and diplomatic. Emperor Yongle intended to awe the rulers of Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean
into sending tribute to China (Dreyer, p. 27). Zheng He and his fleets needed to establish Chinese
presence and influences in those countries in order to enforce the tributary system. Although China
had no interest in imperial expansion through oceanic exploration like the Europeans did, navy power
was traditionally associated with the strength of a nation. Therefore, the gigantic treasure ships, the
significant scale of Zheng He s crew as well as the Chinese goods he brought to the foreign countries
all served the political needs to display wealth and power of the Middle Kingdom. In order to
understand the political motives behind Zheng He s expedition, it is important to look into the
historical background of Emperor Yongle s reign. Yongle did not inherit the throne from his father
Emperor Hongwu. Soon after his father s death, Yongle, the Prince of Yan at that time, initiated a
military rebellion and overthrew his nephew Emperor Jianwen. Because he usurped the throne,
Emperor Yongle had a huge urge to suppress rumors and legitimate his rulership during his early years
of reign. During the rebellion, Emperor Jianwen disappeared and he was rumored to survive the palace
fire and flee overseas. Historians argued that one of the original goals of Zheng He s

Nestle is best known for its chocolate, coffee (it invented instant coffee) and milk products. Nestle is

Kahnemen s Business Model
As online modes of payment threaten the traditional model, dealerships should adapt sales strategies to
build trust with customers. The data shows that people are apprehensive about going into dealerships
but do like being able to see the car in person where they can ask questions easily. Management
policies should reframe themselves to eliminate short termism. This is a common tragedy seen in
many firms. Thaler (p188) was teaching a class on decision making to a group of executives, he asked
the group if they would undertake a project with a 50% risk of losing one million dollars and an equal
chance of gaining double. Only three of the twenty three said they would do it. Then he changed the

Behavioural economists and psychologist alike have long experimented with framing, the way in
which an offer is put in context matters in a world in which people are prone to bias. Framings role in
marketing is perhaps best explained through prospect theory, a term described by Kahnemen. Groups
were given a choice of either getting $900 for sure or a 90% chance of getting $1000. The majority
chose the safer option of $900 since people are generally risk averse. The second problem was a
choice between losing $900 or a 90% chance of losing $1000, in this situation the majority took the
risk. The lesson here as Kahnemen describes is that losses loom larger than gains . Similar
experiments by () have shown that people will only risk losing money if they have an equal chance of
gaining twice that amount. So, when it comes to the discussed anchor price firms should instead set
retail prices which include all extras or perhaps a range of prices rather than a single number for a
vehicle. This means that consumers will have that higher number or range as an anchor by which they
negotiate with. If salesmen fail to convince the customer to buy a certain extra they can revert to the
default price. This makes the customer feel as if they are gaining more as they are giving up less than
the retail price.
Competition and pricing Pricing plays a key role in the

Tale Of Two Cities Injustice
A Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale Of Two Cities was during the French Revolution. It was a time of disorder and also an
outstanding period. It was the time of fear, of lots of violence, robberies, and blood all over the streets.
It was the time of joy and happiness. It was the time of injustice throughout society. A time of great
change throughout society. The book A Tale Of Two City has majors theme throughout the book. One
major theme is metaphorically resurrected from death and having a second chance at life. Another
major theme throughout the book is how society was injustice and corrupted.
Resurrection from death is coming back to live figuratively. Throughout the book more than one
characters are being resurrected from death. A main person is Dr.Manette. Manette was imprisoned for
eighteen years in the Bastile unjustly. Manette was figuratively dead. Manette spent his time in prison

Common Sense Essay
Common Sense
The persuasion towards independence represented through the pamphlet Common Sense, is largely
effective. The work portrays the unjust treatment received by the colonies from the mother country,
England. Thomas Paine begins with the creation of government, as lived by the colonist, and
progresses to the wrongful acts administered by Parliament and the King of England. Finally, Thomas
Paine gives confidence to the unity of the colonies, and details a forceful removal of English authority.
The argument is set up extensively in the commencement of the pamphlet. Thomas Paine explains
how the colonies began governing themselves. The natural governing solution for the people of the
new world was a representative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The King, as well as England, begins to forget the colonies are inhabited by English men. The
colonists are consistently being stuck with wrongful governing and no election power. In America
THE LAW IS KING , but under England the colonies must respect the King as law (98).
Unfortunately, the similarities between the two are observed by Thomas Paine as few and far between.
Common Sense ventures towards the argument about the peace at mind and military protection
provided by the mother country. England gives excuses for the taxes and rulings because of the safety
factor they preserve for the colonies. Paine handles this argument by describing the time it would take
to produce English armed services on American soil. The lapse would be crucial, and possibly too late.
Common Sense portrays some beliefs: We have boasted the protection of Great Britain, without
considering, that her motive was interest not attachment; that she did not protest us from our enemies
on our account, but from her enemies on her own account, from those who had no quarrel with us on
any other account, and who will always be our enemies on the same account. (84) England is
protecting the colonies when it is convenient for Her. Paine goes on to point out the convenience
presence when it comes to governing and taxing the colonies.
Thus Paine expresses a need for a

A Compromise Is Defined As An Agreement Or Settlement Of A...
A compromise is defined as an agreement or settlement of a dispute reached by two or more parties
making concessions. The first amendment case law we reviewed in class seems to reflect a great deal
of compromise, but not in a positive manner. It was troubling, paradoxical and even cruel. The rulings
appeared to disregard ideals of human decency and yet, conversely, are said to set up a positive
framework for future minority groups. In Hurley, LGBTQ discrimination is condoned under the guise
of speaker autonomy. In Dale, LGBTQ exclusion is justified under expressive association. Both
example the dangers of coming to a parley over human rights issues with a traditionalist, polarized
group. That is to say, in making the weaker, singled out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another counter argument may be Milton s theory of the marketplace of ideas. That is to say good
ideas usually dominate bad ones over time. This would support first amendment cases in the sense that
content should not be censored. Yet, it seems that this attitude leads to a social air of accepting
LGBTQ discrimination under a theoretical guise without taking notice of the effects on the individual.
Thus, I think there needs to be some aspect of an omniscient perspective that examines wether a
decision further subjugates a historically battered group. Starting off with Hurley, first amendment
protections were applied because parades were public dramas of social relations and could carry
subjects of communication and consideration . I agree with this statement but find it vexing that the
definition of expression has become so stretched that it overwhelms the issue at hand in order to suit
the defendant s claim. I see it as nothing more than a clever way to grant more basis and protections
by making it an issue of free speech and therefore, of speaker autonomy. That is to say, negating an
overarching perspective on impact, the court s compliance with the exclusion of minority groups to
follow a central coherency really seems to contradict previous cases like United States v. Virginia. It is
merely because Virginia is an issue of sex based equal protection and the other two are first
amendment rights issues that the result

The Importance Of Online Privacy
In the United States 84% of Americans have access to the internet (Perrin and Duggan) and 77% of
Americans own a smartphone (Smith). The online world is growing with every upload, comment, and
text, but with this growth comes concerns over the privacy of the information we are putting online.
Technology has broadened our social horizons, but it has also pushed people to share personal
information with the unseen masses. Who should have access your personal information and why? If
information regarding a serious crime is being protected by our personal device, should law
enforcement be granted access? Our personal devices serve as a mask to hide behind, which leads us
to step outside the scope of what is morally acceptable. As our reliance on personal devices grows, so
does our expectation of our right to total online privacy, however complete protection of privacy
denies the U.S. justice system of its ability to effectively do its job. Our day to day lives revolve
around technology. Our phones are often the first thing we look at in the mornings and the last thing
we look at before we go to bed. We use them throughout the day to hold personal conversations, share
pictures and thoughts on social media, and to browse the internet, furthermore we expect that this
information will be kept from prying eyes. There are, after all, some downsides to privacy. For
example, the ability to control information about oneself can also enable dishonesty and hypocrisy

Tiger Woods And Its Impact On Golf
How often does an athlete come along that changes everything about a sport? Tiger Woods, as he is
known by most, popularized the game of golf and was able to reach many youth and grow the game
that may have been on the verge of dying. Woods was able to energize what many had known as a
boring game and instill excitement and drive that was never seen on a golf course before. Woods hit
the golf ball unbelievable distances and dominated the sport in a way that seemed unfair. Tournaments
were being won by margins unlike any in history and many golf course designers were required to add
something called Tiger proofing in an attempt to make the playing field more balanced and even.
Eldrick Tiger Woods, at an astonishing 19 years old, burst on to the scene at Professional Golf
Association events and would change golf forever though exciting and energy filled play, absurd
tournament performances, and a presence among all sports unlike anything ever seen before. Tiger
Woods began training to become the master golfer he was at a very young age and would experience
high levels of success throughout his youth, once turning professional, marketing companies were able
to take advantage of the unique opportunity Woods presented, and during his professional years
Woods was statistically unlike anything ever seen before. In this paper I will discuss (1) how the
different forms of communication propelled young Tiger Woods into the face of golf at an early age,
(2) how marketing and

An Approach to the Regional Neoliberal Governance in...
An approach to the regional neoliberal governance in Southern Africa from a critical perspective.
In order to examine the possible implications of neoliberalism in contemporary Africa, an analysis
based on a regional dimension is important. The multiplicity of strategies and methods of governance
in a specific regional context can appear merging, mingling or even clashing, since regions can be
understood as political and social projects, where different actors act in favour of the maintenance,
protection or transformation of prevalent structures. In that way, according to Söderbaum, regions can
be disrupted from within and from without by the same forces that build them up . (Söderbaum 2004a,
p. 421). The process of economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Ibid: p. 433)
The problems that arise from the expansion of the neoliberal policies, as a core element of the
attempted regional governance and regional integration, become more obvious if we focus on concrete
cases from the region. Taking in consideration the limited scope of the essay, I will refer to problems
that have arosen in the case of South Africa and its foreign and domestic policies in connection to
economic development and integartion of the southern african region. Domestically, South Africa was
aiming at reducing state expenditure, at privitizations and the liberalization of trade and capital. Under
the GEAR, since 1996, neoliberalism became the leading force in its economy, while the country
appeared willingfull to dominate in the region s economic and political spheres, by establishing a
market for its expanding economy, rather than being involved at the assistance of other continental
countries. Contradicting the main assumption of neoliberal regional governance, South Africa s
economic interests are served by a political strategy that is engineered to pry open markets, and to
pave the way for establishing footholds in different economic sectors, especially if this will result in
muscular corporate penetration. (Alden Le Pere, p. 159). The country managed to rapidly expand its
economy through exports of products and capital, to the rest of the continent. This resulted at South

Up until this point, the narrator seems appear as more of an anti hero or negative lead character, this is

much white in the iris, for one thing, and the pupils seemed to move around in the sockets without his
knowing it or being able to stop it. Creepy. (Carver, 2013). Based on this quote we can really see, that
the narrator at this point bases a lot of his perception on what he sees, and he has trouble with opening
his mind. Robert on the other hand, is not at all what the narrator expects He wore brown slacks,
brown shoes, a light brown shirt, a tie, a sports coat. Spiffy. He also had this full beard. But he didn t
use a cane and he didn t wear dark glasses. I d always thought dark glasses were a must for the blind.
Fact was, I wished he had a pair. At first glance, his eyes looked like anyone else s eyes. (Carver,
2013). As the narrator, his wife, and Robert sit down for dinner, the narrator is mentally in awe of how
Robert seems to have no signs of trouble managing to navigate the food on his plate. The blind man
had right away located his foods, he knew just where everything was on his plate. I watched with
admiration as he used his knife and fork on the meat. He d cut two pieces of meat, fork the meat into
his mouth, and then go all out for the scalloped potatoes, the beans next, and then he d tear off a hunk
of buttered bread and eat that. He d follow this up with a big drink of milk. It didn t seem to bother
him to use his fingers once in a while, either. (Carver, 2013). After dinner the narrator, his wife and

As she reached the his soldiers, she was questioned as to why she had come, her reply was I am fleeing from them as they will soon be your prey. Although, when she got back to Bethulia, she affirmed My face seduced him, only to his own undoing; he committed no sin with me to shame or disgrace me. It is certain that this women can be seen as a devious seductress. Judith purposely garnished herself to be irresistible, as a way to tempt Holofernes, as she knew his desires. The scope of the job contains extremely complex engineering feats combined with a rigid timeline. The only path for success was to find a project manager well versed in both aspects of the project. Instead Martens decided to split the responsibilities of the project with two managers with different experience and subject matter expert qualities. Patil was brought his PhD scientific experience to the table. While Wright brought the can do spark plug approach to the project. The two will be instrumental in the projects outcome (Salter 2004). The bench mark for success is not in comparison to other previous projects. Large scale engineering designs had been implemented in the past, but never a machine with dual means of propulsion. The hypothesis for this experiment is that the mode of inheritance for the shaven bristle allele in flies is autosomal recessive in both male and female flies. This, again, exhibits a 3:1 ratio of normal phenotype to affected phenotype. The expected and observed values were all computed on the FlyLab software. The degree of freedom in this experiment was 3. • 12. Types Of Portfolio Management Under certain conditions, however, the possibility of unexpected concentration among some industries may exist, especially in the period of irrational exuberance and overestimated valuations. In the 1990s, for example, the upsurge in investing in technology companies resulted in a market bubble. The technology firms concentrated extremely high on the stock index. Accordingly, investors were putting at a high risk for the reason that these overvalued companies were given ownership which was out of proportion by the stocks bought by passive market funds. The aim of passive funds is not to outperform the market or the index, but to follow the tracks of them. As a result, the performance of the index will always be lower than the fund ... Even though the expected market return of active portfolio does not perform well, the risk of active portfolio is minimized. There is no short selling in the active portfolio and the the active portfolio is diversified through balanced investment of these ten stocks. Furthermore, the weights of 10 stocks in the active portfolio are more balanced than the passive portfolio. Therefore, the investors who pursue high expected market return should choose passive portfolio and risk averse investors should choose active portfolio. The investors should consider transaction fees and management fees of active portfolio and investors can insist on choosing active portfolio if they believe they can have higher return that offset these fees. In conclusion, the active investing is more flexible than passive investing because active investing does not have to follow a specific index like S P 500. As technological advances were introduced to industry, unskilled labor also rose in accordance to the rise in factories. However, this rise also introduced several labor unions such as the Knights of Labor, which organized a series of protests and riots. The labor unions had good intentions, aiming to lower the average work hours for workers, as well as increase their wages. However, their methods which involved riots and protests, were altogether not effective, and ended up being detrimental to their cause. Between 1875 and 1900, labor unions surged and were temporarily successful; however, their methods would prove detrimental to their cause overtime, leading to their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite being able to cause a small improvement in workers pay and hours, labor unions ultimately died out by the 1900s due to their methods. Unable to truly focus on the plight of skilled workers, most labor unions instead focused on that of unskilled workers, pushing aside the skilled workers. (Doc D). The actions of labor unions ended up being counterproductive, forcing companies to wage war against the labor unions. These stricter contracts such as that of Western Union Telegraph Company, forced workers to affiliate themselves against labor unions. (Doc E) One important thing to note is that the workers rights advocates were never able to coincide on one factor. As evidenced in an illustration in 1887, labor unions had to compete with other movements such as socialism, anarchism, and other labor unions. (Doc F). Because of this, the media, although recognizing the labor union movement, began viewing the labor unions as dangerous entities. Although the initial strikes such as the Wabash strike were successful, the ones that followed proved detrimental to the movement, and caused the steady decline of the labor unions. Because some of the strikes were dangerous, many strikes resulted in the deaths of those involved, such as the Homestead Crisis, and Pinkerton (Doc G). These events between Titan and Olympians lasted ten years of war during the Titanomachy. Iapetus had four children, Atlas, Prometheus, Epimetheus, Menoetius from a second generation of Titans. The Missouri Compromise incident also caused small battles like Bleeding Kansas(Causes of the Civil 1). One other major cause of the Civil War was the election of President Abraham Lincoln. These perceptions came into the picture due to the creatures encounters with humanity. Therefore, the original and main purpose of Zheng He s expeditions to foreign countries was political and diplomatic. Emperor Yongle intended to awe the rulers of Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean into sending tribute to China (Dreyer, p. 27). Zheng He and his fleets needed to establish Chinese presence and influences in those countries in order to enforce the tributary system. Although China had no interest in imperial expansion through oceanic exploration like the Europeans did, navy power was traditionally associated with the strength of a nation. Therefore, the gigantic treasure ships, the significant scale of Zheng He s crew as well as the Chinese goods he brought to the foreign countries all served the political needs to display wealth and power of the Middle Kingdom. In order to understand the political motives behind Zheng He s expedition, it is important to look into the historical background of Emperor Yongle s reign. Yongle did not inherit the throne from his father Emperor Hongwu. Soon after his father s death, Yongle, the Prince of Yan at that time, initiated a military rebellion and overthrew his nephew Emperor Jianwen. Because he usurped the throne, Emperor Yongle had a huge urge to suppress rumors and legitimate his rulership during his early years of reign. Behavioural economists and psychologist alike have long experimented with framing, the way in which an offer is put in context matters in a world in which people are prone to bias. Framings role in marketing is perhaps best explained through prospect theory, a term described by Kahnemen. Groups were given a choice of either getting $900 for sure or a 90% chance of getting $1000. The majority chose the safer option of $900 since people are generally risk averse. The second problem was a choice between losing $900 or a 90% chance of losing $1000, in this situation the majority took the risk. The lesson here as Kahnemen describes is that losses loom larger than gains . Similar experiments by () have shown that people will only risk losing money if they have an equal chance of gaining twice that amount. So, when it comes to the discussed anchor price firms should instead set retail prices which include all extras or perhaps a range of prices rather than a single number for a vehicle. This means that consumers will have that higher number or range as an anchor by which they negotiate with. The first amendment case law we reviewed in class seems to reflect a great deal of compromise, but not in a positive manner. It was troubling, paradoxical and even cruel. The rulings appeared to disregard ideals of human decency and yet, conversely, are said to set up a positive framework for future minority groups. Thus, I think there needs to be some aspect of an omniscient perspective that examines wether a decision further subjugates a historically battered group. Starting off with Hurley, first amendment protections were applied because parades were public dramas of social relations and could carry subjects of communication and consideration . I agree with this statement but find it vexing that the definition of expression has become so stretched that it overwhelms the issue at hand in order to suit the defendant s claim. The online world is growing with every upload, comment, and text, but with this growth comes concerns over the privacy of the information we are putting online. Technology has broadened our social horizons, but it has also pushed people to share personal information with the unseen masses. Who should have access your personal information and why? If information regarding a serious crime is being protected by our personal device, should law enforcement be granted access? Our personal devices serve as a mask to hide behind, which leads us to step outside the scope of what is morally acceptable. As our reliance on personal devices grows, so does our expectation of our right to total online privacy, however complete protection of privacy denies the U.S. justice system of its ability to effectively do its job. Eldrick Tiger Woods, at an astonishing 19 years old, burst on to the scene at Professional Golf Association events and would change golf forever though exciting and energy filled play, absurd tournament performances, and a presence among all sports unlike anything ever seen before. Tiger Woods began training to become the master golfer he was at a very young age and would experience high levels of success throughout his youth, once turning professional, marketing companies were able to take advantage of the unique opportunity Woods presented, and during his professional years Woods was statistically unlike anything ever seen before. In this paper I will discuss (1) how the different forms of communication propelled young Tiger Woods into the face of golf at an early age, (2) how marketing and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. An Approach to the Regional Neoliberal Governance in... An approach to the regional neoliberal governance in Southern Africa from a critical perspective. In order to examine the possible implications of neoliberalism in contemporary Africa, an analysis based on a regional dimension is important. The multiplicity of strategies and methods of governance in a specific regional context can appear merging, mingling or even clashing, since regions can be understood as political and social projects, where different actors act in favour of the maintenance, protection or transformation of prevalent structures. In that way, according to Söderbaum, regions can be disrupted from within and from without by the same forces that build them up . (Söderbaum 2004a, p. 421). The process of economic ... (Ibid: p. 433) The problems that arise from the expansion of the neoliberal policies, as a core element of the attempted regional governance and regional integration, become more obvious if we focus on concrete cases from the region. Taking in consideration the limited scope of the essay, I will refer to problems that have arosen in the case of South Africa and its foreign and domestic policies in connection to economic development and integartion of the southern african region. Domestically, South Africa was aiming at reducing state expenditure, at privitizations and the liberalization of trade and capital. Under the GEAR, since 1996, neoliberalism became the leading force in its economy, while the country appeared willingfull to dominate in the region s economic and political spheres, by establishing a market for its expanding economy, rather than being involved at the assistance of other continental countries. Contradicting the main assumption of neoliberal regional governance, South Africa s economic interests are served by a political strategy that is engineered to pry open markets, and to pave the way for establishing footholds in different economic sectors, especially if this will result in muscular corporate penetration. (Alden Le Pere, p. 159). The country managed to rapidly expand its economy through exports of products and capital, to the rest of the continent. This resulted at South Africa Inc. as ... Up until this point, the narrator seems appear as more of an anti hero or negative lead character, this is the beginning of the turning point for the husband s perspective. Back in the first part the husband eludes to Roberts eyes as creepy if you looked close, there was something different about them. Too much white in the iris, for one thing, and the pupils seemed to move around in the sockets without his knowing it or being able to stop it. Creepy. (Carver, 2013). Based on this quote we can really see, that the narrator at this point bases a lot of his perception on what he sees, and he has trouble with opening his mind. Robert on the other hand, is not at all what the narrator expects He wore brown slacks, brown shoes, a light brown shirt, a tie, a sports coat. Spiffy. He also had this full beard. But he didn t use a cane and he didn t wear dark glasses. I d always thought dark glasses were a must for the blind. Fact was, I wished he had a pair. At first glance, his eyes looked like anyone else s eyes. (Carver, 2013). As the narrator, his wife, and Robert sit down for dinner, the narrator is mentally in awe of how Robert seems to have no signs of trouble managing to navigate the food on his plate. The blind man had right away located his foods, he knew just where everything was on his plate. I watched with admiration as he used his knife and fork on the meat. He d cut two pieces of meat, fork the meat into his mouth, and then go all out for the scalloped potatoes, the beans next, and then he d tear off a hunk of buttered bread and eat that. He d follow this up with a big drink of milk. It didn t seem to bother him to use his fingers once in a while, either. (Carver, 2013). After dinner the narrator, his wife and Robert sit in the living room, and Robert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
