Objectives The motivation of this lab report is to use Mendel s Laws of Inheritance to analyze and
predict the genotypes and phenotypes of an offspring generation (F2) after knowing the genotypes and
phenotypes of the parent generation (F1). The hypothesis for this experiment is that the mode of
inheritance for the shaven bristle allele in flies is autosomal recessive in both male and female flies.
The data generated with the Flylab software seemed to confirm the hypothesized mode of inheritance
for the phenotype of having the shaven bristles.

In the short story Cathedral by Raymond Carver, the narrator known as the husband has an encounter
with one of his wife s lifelong friends Robert. Robert is a blind man that plays an integral roll in the
climax of this story when the narrator has a life changing experience with Robert and seeing life
through the eyes of a blind man. In this essay, we will delve into the various character aspects of the
husband, and Robert. We will also discuss the relationship, and dynamic between these two characters
as well as how they change throughout the story.

Up until this point, the narrator seems appear as more of an anti hero or negative lead character, this is
the beginning of the turning point for the husband s perspective. Back in the first part the husband
eludes to Roberts eyes as creepy if you looked close, there was something different about them. Too
much white in the iris, for one thing, and the pupils seemed to move around in the sockets without his
knowing it or being able to stop it. Creepy. (Carver, 2013). Based on this quote we can really see, that
the narrator at this point bases a lot of his perception on what he sees, and he has trouble with opening
his mind. Robert on the other hand, is not at all what the narrator expects He wore brown slacks,
brown shoes, a light brown shirt, a tie, a sports coat. Spiffy. He also had this full beard. But he didn t
use a cane and he didn t wear dark glasses. I d always thought dark glasses were a must for the blind.
Fact was, I wished he had a pair. At first glance, his eyes looked like anyone else s eyes. (Carver,
2013). As the narrator, his wife, and Robert sit down for dinner, the narrator is mentally in awe of how
Robert seems to have no signs of trouble managing to navigate the food on his plate. The blind man
had right away located his foods, he knew just where everything was on his plate. I watched with
admiration as he used his knife and fork on the meat. He d cut two pieces of meat, fork the meat into
his mouth, and then go all out for the scalloped potatoes, the beans next, and then he d tear off a hunk
of buttered bread and eat that. He d follow this up with a big drink of milk. It didn t seem to bother
him to use his fingers once in a while, either. (Carver, 2013). After dinner the narrator, his wife and
