Tommy John Misconceptions
Tommy John surgery is arguably one of the greatest innovations in medicine during this past century.
It has helped extend the careers of many professional and amateur athletes by reconstructing a worn
down and damaged ligament, Carroll (2013). But there has also been a lot misconceptions when it
comes to this surgery as well. Not about whether or not it is successful or safe, but more along the
lines of the expectations of the results of the individual having the surgery post operative, Dodson
(2015). Along with that, there s a popular misconception about having the surgery when it is not
necessary, Longman (2007).
If you are a fan of baseball, you have definitely noticed the overwhelming popularity of Tommy John

The Annexation Of Tibet
On September 21st 1987 the Dalai Lama gave a speech to the U.S. Congressional Human Rights
Caucus. In the speech he claimed though Tibetans lost their freedom, under international law Tibet
today is still an independent state under illegal occupation. In 1950 the People s Republic of China
occupied the territory of Tibet claiming it was its right. For this reason, there has been an ongoing
debate between China, Tibet and the rest of the world about the question if Tibet has the right to self
determination. The annexation of Tibet by China has an impact on the Tibetans in several ways.
This paper will look at the impact of the Chinese occupation. The question that will be researched is:
What effect does the idea of self determination have

The Pros And Cons Of School Students In School
In the years after Honig, Congress added emergency exceptions to IDEA permitting school personnel
to immediately remove a student with a disability for up to forty five days to an interim alternative
educational setting (IAES). This immediate removal is permitted if the student committed one of the
following violations on school grounds or at a school function: ■ carries a weapon; ■ knowingly
possesses, uses, sells, or solicits illegal drugs; or ■ inflicts serious bodily injury upon another.
Therefore, when safety is jeopardized, the ten day rule does not need to be followed; the student with
a disability can be removed immediately. Within ten days of that removal, however, the child s IEP
team must meet to conduct the MDR and make a decision regarding the IAES. Additionally, school
personnel are permitted to consider any unique circumstances on a case by case basis when
determining whether to order a change of placement for a student who has violated a code of student
conduct. If the parents disagree with a decision to remove their child from school, they may appeal
that decision to a hearing officer. Similarly, school officials may appeal when they are concerned that
a student s continued presence within the school setting is substantially likely to result in injury to the
student or others. The hearing officer has the authority to either return the student to the placement
from which he/she was removed or order placement in an IAES. During this period, the student

he seems to have invited thirteen dwarves to tea as well. As he serves the dwarves and Gandalf tea and

which point Bilbo discovers that the ring makes its wearer invisible. With the help of the ring, he
escapes from the tunnels and is reunited with his companions, who are surprised to find him alive.
Soon after their reunion, they are caught and treed by Wargs, evil wolves who are allies of the goblins.
Gandalf tries to rescue them by throwing burning pinecones at them, but the goblins soon arrive and
set fire to the trees. At the last minute, they are rescued by a flock of eagles, which carry them to a safe

Problems with Cultural Relativism in Anthropology
Cultural Relativism and Problems Associated with This Approach
Cultural anthropology is the study of cultural variation among people. An essential concept that
professional anthropologists apply in their fieldworks is cultural relativism an approach to study of the
nature and role of values in a culture without judgment and comparison to their own. According to the
Study Guide, Smillie and Kenny state that major contribution to the study of the concept of cultural
relativism can be attributed to Boas and his students, who challenged a wide spread idea that societies
are staged along a line from the most undeveloped to most civilized. Rather, they suggested that each
individual culture should be understood in terms of its unique ... Show more content on

Thus, in order to understand and speculate about others, it is important to understand human nature in
the light of unique cultural customs and beliefs before passing judgment.
However, there are situations when it is difficult to suspend judgment and engage with a cultural
relativist approach. Particularly, when people engage in behaviors that are harmful to individuals or
when basic human rights are at stake, sometimes it is necessary to intervene and hold back cultural
tolerance. On the other hand, it has been questioned whether it is ethical to impose one s beliefs and
cultural standards on someone else; especially, when subjected individuals have no concerns with their
controversial cultural practices. Who decides at what degree of a controversial issue an anthropologist
has a right to intervene on account of human rights violation? On that note, this paper will focus on
the issues of human rights violation that makes it difficult to engage in cultural relativism.
While each cultural practice, controversial or not, can be justified within its cultural content, it does
not mean that it is appropriate and accepted. Take into account an international debate that has been

Symbolism In Silence Of The Lamb

Thomas more is trying to make Alice understand what he s going to do. More: Alice, if you can tell
me that you understand, I think I can make a good death if I have to. Again I choose this quote
because it really shows More s motive his real character. More was using the word death like it was
nothing. He was juggling around the word death as of it meant nothing to him. That there shows that
more was willing to go to extreme measures for his beliefs (pride). More s last words of comfort to his
daughter, More: Margaret, You have long known the secrets of my heart. More is comforting his
daughter with his last words and does not feel a single sense of guilt that he is leaving his daughter to
live without the father she loves. Instead of apologizing for his choices he simply tells her that she was
the only one that knew his heart. However, I know for a fact that Margaret did not know or want to
live without her father. This quote is saddening because the separation of a father and daughter is
overwhelmingly depressing. Thomas More putting his family through this shows that he is absolutely

he didn t like the fact that a gay couple went to his bakery. Although Phillips claims his actions are

Similarities Between Redon And David Hockney
Artists often use their personal perceptions as a stimulus for their artwork. They are able to use their
work to express a certain viewpoint they may have on a subject. Well renowned artists, Odilon Redon
and David Hockney have both manipulated their artistic abilities to express their perceptions through
their work with their art movements. Redon is a renowned 18th 19th century French symbolist artist
whose works revolve around his dreams, fantasy and imagination, The Cyclops (1914), being one of
his most recognised paintings. David Hockney is a painter and photographer and is considered one of
the most influential British artists of the 20th century, a prime example of his work being, A Bigger
Splash (1966.) Both artworks reflect the artist s personal perceptions and contain similarities and
differences with their movements, intentions and use of stylistic features.
At the beginning of his career, Redon s works were exclusively in black and white in lithographic
prints and charcoal. His works consisted of a monochromatic colour scheme representing symbolism
in his unusual dreamlike creations, called noirs. In an interview, Redon stated that his noirs are his
most personal expressions. These works were a product of his creative imagination of depictions of
his knowledge and perception on evolution theories, presented by Charles Darwin at the time. The
noirs were also a reflection on his pessimism and melancholy, particularly as a child, and a
representation of how he views the world. Contradictory to his early works, Redon transfigured into
non naturalistic colour themed pastels and oil paintings. Many of these oeuvres were abstract,
generally constructed of an ethereal chromatic background with a focal subject and an overall hazy
appeal.
The Cyclops is a versatile example of Redon s work as it is an oil painting with noir themes. The
artwork illustrates a mountain and rocky landscape, with a Cyclops creature emerging from behind the
tall mountain in the background of the scenario. Slightly off centre to the right there is a naked woman
who appears to be sleeping peacefully amongst the abstract plantation on the hill. The focal point of
the painting is the cyclops, and its large eye that is

Radio Frequency Identification ( Rfid ) Essay
Abstract Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technology for automated identification of people
and products, and is getting more involved in our daily lives. RFID consists of a RFID tag or
transponder, a RFID reader or transceiver, and the data processing system has been evolving with
time. RFID technology is also helpful when used with money, but there is a main limitation while
using RFID technology. It is privacy and security. That is why, Electrical and computer engineers
work with this limitation, so RFID would be the future for all engineers.
Index Terms RFID Electromagnetics, term paper I.INTRODUCTION
For many people, using a card to access a building or a door, a key to start a car or validating an
underground ticket have become a routine without realizing that they are making use of a technology
that captures data because of the magnetic field. The technology is known as Radio Frequency
IDentification or RFID. [1] Just as people use RFID in their daily lives, this technology is also used in
objects, as the travel from manufacture to storage and finally the point of sale. Also, they carry RFID
tags like people do. People show their RFID cards and objects don t. These tags are read in different
ways and need greater detection distances.
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) can be defined as an automatic identification technology
which uses radio frequency electromagnetic fields to identify objects carrying tags when they come
close to a reader. [2]

Freedom of the Press Versus Right to Privacy
Freedom of the press versus right to privacy
ByRobert Skidelsky (China Daily)
Privacy has become a big issue in contemporary jurisprudence. The right to privacy is enshrined in the
United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, and guaranteed by Article 8 of the European
Convention on Human Rights. But Article 8 is balanced by Article 10, which guarantees free
expression of opinion . So what right has priority when they conflict?
Under what circumstances, for example, is it right to curtail press freedom in order to protect the right
to privacy, or vice versa? The same balance is being sought between the right of citizens to data
privacy and government demands for access to personal information to fight crime, terrorism, and so
on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A law that curtails the abuse of press power while protecting its freedom to expose the abuse of
political power would be difficult, but not impossible, to frame. The essential principle is that the
media should not be allowed to pander to the public s prurience under cover of protecting the public
interest.
What famous people indeed ordinary people, too do in private should be off limits to the media unless
they give permission for those activities to be reported, photographed, or filmed. The only exceptions
would be if a newspaper has reasonable grounds for believing that the individuals concerned are
breaking the law, or that, even if they are not breaking the law, they are behaving in such a way as to
render them unfit to perform the duties expected of them.
Thus, a pop star s consumption of illegal drugs may be reported, but not his or her sexual habits (if
they are legal). The private life of a politician may be revealed if it is expected to have consequences
for the way the country is being governed; that of a top executive of a public company if it may affect
the returns to shareholders.
This should be the only public interest defense available to a media outlet that is sued for invasion of
privacy. The media might become a bit drearier, but public life would be far healthier.

Chaucer s Views Exposed in The Canterbury Tales Essay
Chaucer s Views Exposed in The Canterbury Tales
The Canterbury Tales were written and pieced together in the late 1380 s, early 1390 s. The author of
the book is Geoffrey Chaucer. When considering the structure of the tales, one can deduce that they
were put together using Framework Narrative, a very unique style of writing. The opening prologue
speaks of 29 pilgrims, including Chaucer, who are all on a pilgrimage to Canterbury. All of them are
seeking a certain shrine for spiritual cleansing, and relief. The journey was to be long, but in the end it
would all be worth it. Chaucer s social views and prejudices are revealed through his description of
the pilgrims in The Canterbury Tales.

At this point, one might construe that social status is somewhat important to Chaucer.
Chaucer s view of the clergy class is not as positive as his view of the ruling class. For example,
Chaucer describes the Prioress/Nun using a great amount of satire. He speaks of how the nun has
excellent etiquette and manners. She tries so hard to be respected and viewed as one with higher
status. Her character is best described in the quote:
· She took pains to imitate court behavior, to be dignified in bearing and to be considered worthy of
respect. (Chaucer Pg. 3 Line 26)
He says that the Monk deviated from traditional requirements expected of a
monk, such as hunting, and roaming throughout life beyond monastery walls. A quote that best
describes the monk is:
· Why should he study and drive himself crazy, always poring over a book in his cloister, or work and
slave with his hands as St. Augustine orders? (Chaucer Pg. 4 Line 21)
The Friar was the worst of them all. He was a gossiper, he was evil in his ways of offering absolution,
and he took advantage of people, rich and poor. He indulged in secular pleasures, and he only wanted
to work with the rich for what he could gain. He refused to work with the poor, for they were all
Lepers! and were no help when a man is trying to improve his social status.

Essay on Resistance to Organizational Change
Individuals when faced with any major change will be inevitably resistant and will want to preserve
the status quo, especially if they think their status or security within the organization is in danger
(Bolognese, 2010). Folger and Skarlicki believe that organizational change produces skepticism in
employees which make it problematic and possibly even impossible to contrive improvements within
the organization (as cited in Bolognese, 2010) Therefore, management must understand, accept and
make an effort to work with resistance, since it can undermine even the most well conceived change
efforts (Bolognese, 2010). Furthermore, Coetsee states for organizations to achieve the maximum
benefits from change they must effectively create and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Technical resistance is caused when employees are concerned about the capital that was invested in
the technology and equipment that is currently being used. There is also cultural resistance that is
difficult for employees to change values, norms, and procedures that are supported by the current
culture within the organization. The final type of resistance is political resistance. This happens when
decisions made in the past are now being questioned which can cause certain stakeholders to feel
threatened (Van Dijk, Van Dick, 2009).
Elements for Dealing with Resistance
According to Palmer, Dunford, and Akin (2009) there are six different approaches to managing
resistance to change which are, situational, let nature take its course, thought self leadership, creative
counters, tinkering, kludging, and pacing approach, and finally the power of resistance approach.
While all of these different methods or approaches for dealing with change have positives and
negatives, some are better than others. For example, Kotter and Schlesinger s situational method is
great in that it recognizes some situations need to be treated differently than others. However, they
suggest that manipulation could be used and while they explain the dangers of this approach, its
application is very limited and the rewards don t outweigh the risks.
Another approach that Palmer, Dunford, and Akin (2009)

Truth Behind The Mirror
Reflections no longer hold truth when encased by a mirror. There is darkness behind the glass that
seeps into people s subconscious. As it lingers inside them, it does not let up on its firm grasp on the

pressure can become an overbearing force that is placed on individuals. People should not try to
capsize a stable boat when there is nothing wrong with it. People are too focused on what makes them
different from society, and how that is a negative thing. However, being unique is what makes them
beautiful. Comparing murky pond water and a crystal clear mirror allows people to see the distortions
in themselves and how everything is not surface deep. When looking into a murky pond or a clear
mirror, people perceive a distorted version of themselves. A pond drenched by pouring rain soon
causes the overflowing waters to escape from the banks and loosens the rich, black soil. The next day,
the cloudy pond is consumed by the disrupted mud which dims the reflection that is cast when the on
looker is looking in. As the mud rises to the surface, the image people have of themselves become
muddled. Mud that is now stirred in with the water will not let the sediment float back to the pond s
bottom which makes it appear that the once clear water will forever remain as a diluted pond. Even the
moss that is scattered on the surface limits the person s view, and capsizes on their

Indentured Servants Research Paper
Although many African Americans landed in Virginia in 1619 as slaves, in 1608 most emigrants (who
were mainly male) wanted to come to the New World by crossing the Atlantic Ocean so badly that
they agreed to become indentured servants. Those who were called Slaves were there to serve for life
while those who were called Indentured Servants only served for a certain term. According to
American Stories the amount of years that needed to be served depended on the person s age; those
who are younger get a longer term, while those who are older, like nineteen, only get about five years.
Many African Americans were called slaves because of their servitude; and many were born into
slavery because of the status follows the womb . Many indentured servants

Should Undergraduates Specialize Analysis
In the essay titled Should Undergraduates Specialize? Written by Patrick N. Allitt and published in
Reading for Writers, in New York in 2013, the author presents a discussion about the differences of the
United States and The United Kingdom s school systems. Mr. Allit proposes that U.S students should
have a choice between the two school systems.
The essay is was written by Patrick Allitt to present the contrasts in his college experience to that of
his daughter, Frances, who is about to become a freshman at Emory University. The author presents
some of the obviously outward contrasts in their college careers by discussing the differences in
college systems, criterion, cost, curriculum and length of each program. Mr. Allit explains that his

The difference in these two systems create a diverse college experience. For Mr. Allit, preparing for
college consisted purely of academic criterion. There was an entrance exam, followed by a personal
interview. Mr. Allit s daughters experience will differ as the expectation for not only academic
criterion, but pre college prep is essential. Frances was encouraged to participate in extracurricular
activities as well as pursue community service, as these would greatly improve her odds into getting
into a University. The author also explains that the cost was significantly different for him, that it will
be for his daughter. Mr. Allit discusses that due to the meritocratic school system he was apart of, each
students tuition was paid in full and grants were given to cover boarding and living expenses. His cost
of college was about $400.00. His daughter on the other hand, being apart of the decentralized system,
is expected to pay approximately $150,000.00 for a college education at an big league school. One of

Alexander The Great Altar At Pergamons
The narratives and stories in ancient Greek artifacts revolved primarily around Greek Mythology. This
is epitomized in relief sculptures on the Treasury of the Siphnians and the Great Altar at Pergamon,
which depict the Battle of the Gods or Titanomachy from Greek mythology. Real life events were also
portrayed although often embellished in myth. For instance, the vase created by Exekias and the
sculpture of Laocoon and his sons both depict mythologized elements from the Trojan War. Eventually
the Greeks turned away from the heroic to the everyday. For example, the floor mosaic of Alexander
the Great confronting Darius II at the battle of Issos tells the narrative of an actual historical event.
The Etruscan and Romans followed suit by adopting

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by high blood sugar (glucose) levels,

chronic medical condition, meaning that although it can be controlled, it lasts a lifetime. Individuals
are normally capable of digesting carbohydrates, in particular those most common in food; starch, and
some disaccharides such as sucrose, are converted within a few hours to simpler forms such as the

Entertainment Media Influence On American Culture
Influence Of Entertainment Media I believe entertainment media does have an influence on our
culture simply because, it s all around us through the radio, television, newspaper, and Internet etc.
Throughout listening to the radio, watching the television, reading the newspaper and surfing the
Internet this activity holds the attention and interest of us or gives us pleasure and delight. Once we
become so engaged and involved in what we are watching, hearing or even reading we believe and we
tend to sometimes take on the form of what we are engaged into. This alone could be one of the
reasons why it allows American culture to change their values and morals and tend to look at life
differently. The word entertainment is basically what it says when we speak of entertainment media
we are speaking on something that amuses us and keep our attention and most importantly it
influences our ways of thinking and how we perceive different situations in life. For instance, if you
are watching a movie that contains violence and killing it does not necessarily mean you will act out
violence and killing. But there are individuals who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Notes on Max Weber s The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit...
There are a number of different modern social theories regarding the nature of society, social change,
human s place within society and the idea of how integration and alienation fit within a modern
society. These paradigms combine reflexively into a notion of history. Max Weber was a German
politician, scholar, economist, and sociologist. In fact, he founded the modern studies of sociology,
public administration, and organizational theory. He was born in 1864 and so was writing and
publishing after Marx, but still looking at capitalism, socialism, and the various dictates of society as
ways humans are shaped, actualized, and able to have upward mobility. He is most famous for his
works surrounding the sociology of religion and government, and how those two institutions shaped,
controlled, and contributed to humankind.
For Weber, the idea of rationalism rational thought based on societal efficiency and productivity, runs
through his works particularly The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism. In this seminal work,
Weber argues that the idea of Protestantism contributes to history and economics in that piety and the
chance for a better life after death cause humans to strive for economic gain in certain ways, whereas
that is not always using work as an expression of self it is work, as Marx might say, for the ends
justifying the means, rather than the means justifying what work is being done. Authority, then, rather
than being solely economic, does have at its

Summary Of The Most Good You Can Do
The novel, The Most Good You Can Do: How Effective Altruism Is Changing Ideas About Living
Ethically, by Peter Singer introduces ideas on how to utilize effective altruism to improve the world in
the best way possible. Singer believes that the only way to live a truly ethical life is to practice
effective altruism. This involves living modestly and/or choosing jobs with higher wages in order to
donate more, choosing the charities that will be the most effective, spreading the word of altruism,
donating a part of the body, and putting emotional attachments aside in order to objectively help those
who need it the most. Effective altruism changes minds on what doing the most good actually means.

For instance, giving money to the National Federation of the Blind because I have an eye condition or
volunteering at an animal shelter because I love animals. While these acts are definitely commendable,
I ve learned that they aren t what effective altruism is about. These acts would be considered
misguided grounds for giving (86). Effective altruism is about doing the most good by helping the
most people who need the most help. Singer raises an interesting point that I hadn t thought of before;
aiding poverty in third world countries will have more of an impact than aiding poverty in America
because poverty in America is still relatively more affluent than poverty in third world countries.
Which is challenging because as I ve said before, part of human nature is to want to help the people
and causes that you have a bond with. If you choose to be an effective altruist, you need to have
perspective on what will do the most good. You must see the world objectively and intellectually. For
example, not to donate a kidney to someone in need is to value one s own life at four thousand times
that of a stranger (87). However, my own sense of community still stands strong. I grew up in a small
town on a small island where traits like empathy and passion were held above objectivity and intellect.
Therefore, while this book raises logical points about how we should view the world,

Photodynamic Antimicrobial Chemotherapy
In photodynamic antimicrobial chemotherapy (PACT), a combination of a photoresponsive agent and
visible light causes selective destruction of microbial cells such as bacteria, fungi and viruses
(Dougherty et al., 1998; Kalka et al., 2000; Konan et al., 2002). A number of studies have shown
PACT to be highly effective in the in vitro destruction of viruses and protozoa, as well as Gram
positive and Gram negative bacteria and fungi. The ability of visible light photosensitising agent
combinations to kill microorganisms has been known for over 100 years. PACT is an abbreviation and
scientific term that stands for Photodynamic Antimicrobial Therapy. Photodynamic Antimicrobial
Therapy (PACT) has been used effectively in medicine since the 1990s for the treatment of tumours,
skin diseases and wound infections. The fungal cells, unlike human cells possess a cell wall. This cell
wall is stained with a special photosensitizing gel dye that is harmless to human cells but selectively
makes fungi sensitive to a specific wavelength of light and means the bacteria and nail fungus is

The Hoosier School Master By Edward Eggleston
In the book, The Hoosier School Master, author Edward Eggleston depicts life in a 19th century rural
community. His story reflects the lives of those who might have lived there at the time. Eggleston
narrates the book from a point of view that closely reflects what life would have been like in rural
Indiana, where he includes facts about the community and its members, as well as what it was like to
be a student and a teacher in the 19th century. Flat Creek offers all examples of the experiences of a
not only a teacher, but a teacher who has moved to a small unknown community. It also offers a
perspective students and community members would have on schooling, and its value. I argue that due
to the limited resources, the community s involvement, and geographical location, students were
unable to receive a well rounded education in a rural community during the 19th century. I will use the
book and class materials to support my argument that there were limited resources, lower quality of
life, high teacher turnover, and limited opportunities for female and minority students (lack thereof).
Limited resources were available in rural communities during the 19th and early 20th century. The
book has several examples that illustrate the limited resources Flat Creek, or a similar community,
might have had during that time. First, the school itself was most likely small and had a deteriorating
structure. I found it interesting that there was a pond underneath the schoolhouse, and

Rhetorical Analysis Of I Have A Dream
Rhetoric is the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of
speech and other compositional techniques. Rhetoric is used to persuade, or impact an audience. Using
rhetoric, Martin Luther King Jr. not only persuades a large audience of civil rights activist in his I
Have a Dream speech, he also grabbed the attention of the entire country. Martin Luther King Jr. s
goal is to raise awareness about racism and to end segregation and discrimination in the United States.
It is important to King that he conveys his message to the people in a convincing way. The best way to
persuade and grab the attention of an audience into agreeing with a message, is to use rhetoric. In I
Have a Dream , Martin Luther King Jr. attempts to persuade his audience into agreeing with his
message by using rhetorical devices, the use motifs, and the use of logos, pathos, and ethos.
In Martin Luther King s I Have a Dream speech, he demands racial justice and an integrated society.
Rhetorical devices convinced many in the black community to adopt these ideas, and have enough
confidence to stand up for what King was preaching. Using allusions allows the writer to relate the
material to important documents. For example, this allusion references the Declaration of
Independence to let the audience know that this historical document includes African Americans, This

Desktop Pc Sales And Its Effect On The Consumer Market
Despite the fact that desktop PC sales have dropped by twenty one percent from 2011 to 2015, there is

Modern consumer devices since 2011 are now trending toward mobility, touchscreen, and user end

exceptionally attractive for average consumer/end users. These are the factors which lead to the
decrease of desktop sales. The debate over whether desktops will become obsolete has since began.
Those who believe that desktops will become obsolete often use the decrease of desktop sales to argue
for the downfall of desktops, believing that the desktop sales will eventually drop to zero. This is not a
pointless estimation. The trends of the performance of mobile devices such as laptops and smart

enterprise environments; by deploying thin clients[6] instead of conventional desktops organizations
can save massive amounts of money and make management much easier. Some people even believe

Annotated Bibliography On Database Management System
Abstract:
There are many restrictions on the write and read operations in database management system. These
restrictions show the measurable effect on the each and every transaction in the database management
system and which are due to some specific operations. The transactions are not only read that data
from database all the time but sometime some transaction need to delete the data items from database
and create the data items into database. Such type of transactions show high impact on concurrency
control. So, we are analyzing how those transaction bias the concurrency control in database
management system.
Introduction:
The basic problem of concurrency control is sharing the data in database at a time by many numbers
of users. Due to many users accessing data at a time which causes to produce the undesirable output or
system failure even the transaction is correct. This problem may not occur due to read operations. This
problem is due to manipulating data in database such that performing creates, modify and write
operations on data items. The delete operation has capability of deleting the data items which is
similar to modify operation. And the insert operation have able to create a new data items and assign
the values if data items are not exist before staring the transaction which is similar to the create and
write operation in database.
The delete operation can be performed on when the data items exists on database. If we perform the
delete operation

Why Athletes Are Good Role Models
Why Athletes Are Good Role Models Ever since the ancient years, we have admired athletes and the
hard work that they do to achieve their goal of winning. We idolize them and wish we were more like
them. What happens though when the realization sinks in that they are human too and that some of
them do get greedy and selfish? A lot of athletes are model citizens that you should really look up to,
but there are also some bad apples in the bunch that ruin it for everyone. Athletes can inspire young
people to work hard so that their efforts can pay off, but no one is pure and flawless. Greed does take a

Magnaflow Vs Flowmaster Essay
When it comes to Flowmaster and Magnaflow exhaust which ones sounds the best? Is it the
Magnaflows smooth aggressive rumble and low interior resonance, or is it the Flowmasters rugged
power and construction? In my opinion I think Flowmasters give off the best sound and performance
than the Magnaflows but that s just me. Ill let you decide if it s the flowmasters power and
construction or the Magnaflows aggressive rumble. Both brands started in California and are similar to
one another in their pursuit of higher flow, better durability and amazing tone. But each relies on a
different approach to achieve that awesome sound and maximized performance (AutoAnything).
Flowmasters have been made in the USA from mandrel bent, aluminized tubing. ... Show more

Magnaflow has many different stainless steel options like the race series, satin finish, diesel, etc...
Magnaflow exhaust has many different series that include: off road series, performance series, XL
series, pro series, and last the D Fit series. Magnaflows off road series provides the most versatility to
attach to nearly every configuration. Off road series allows for use on vehicles with modified
suspensions, whether it is lifted, lowered, whatever the off road series fits perfect. The performance
series is more for performance then the sound of quality but, still delivers that rumbling sound. The
performance series is proven to deliver more torque and horsepower to your vehicle. The XL series is
the mid level performance diesel exhaust featuring a satin 100% finish stainless steel muffler. Its
called XL for a reason because it s generally meant for big diesel engines. The pro series is the entry
level performance diesel exhaust system. If you want that aggressive sound but not to much
performance change then the pro series is what you want (reason why it s called the entry level).
Direct Fit performance muffler (D fit) is the perfect system for you if you re looking for some sound
and performance from your engine. The D fit series has a smooth, deep tone sound that will wake your
neighbors up in the

It has helped extend the careers of many professional and amateur athletes by reconstructing a worn down and damaged ligament, Carroll (2013). But there has also been a lot misconceptions when it comes to this surgery as well. Not about whether or not it is successful or safe, but more along the lines of the expectations of the results of the individual having the surgery post operative, Dodson (2015). Along with that, there s a popular misconception about having the surgery when it is not necessary, Longman (2007). • 3. The Annexation Of Tibet On September 21st 1987 the Dalai Lama gave a speech to the U.S. Congressional Human Rights Caucus. In the speech he claimed though Tibetans lost their freedom, under international law Tibet today is still an independent state under illegal occupation. In 1950 the People s Republic of China occupied the territory of Tibet claiming it was its right. For this reason, there has been an ongoing debate between China, Tibet and the rest of the world about the question if Tibet has the right to self determination. The annexation of Tibet by China has an impact on the Tibetans in several ways. This paper will look at the impact of the Chinese occupation. • 4. The Pros And Cons Of School Students In School In the years after Honig, Congress added emergency exceptions to IDEA permitting school personnel to immediately remove a student with a disability for up to forty five days to an interim alternative educational setting (IAES). This immediate removal is permitted if the student committed one of the following violations on school grounds or at a school function: ■ carries a weapon; ■ knowingly possesses, uses, sells, or solicits illegal drugs; or ■ inflicts serious bodily injury upon another. Therefore, when safety is jeopardized, the ten day rule does not need to be followed; the student with a disability can be removed immediately. Within ten days of that removal, however, the child s IEP team must meet to conduct the MDR and make a decision regarding the IAES. Additionally, school personnel are permitted to consider any unique circumstances on a case by case basis when determining whether to order a change of placement for a student who has violated a code of student conduct. If the parents disagree with a decision to remove their child from school, they may appeal that decision to a hearing officer. Similarly, school officials may appeal when they are concerned that a student s continued presence within the school setting is substantially likely to result in injury to the student or others. The hearing officer has the authority to either return the student to the placement from which he/she was removed or order placement in an IAES. During this period, the student ... The next day, Bilbo is flustered to find that in addition to Gandalf, he seems to have invited thirteen dwarves to tea as well. As he serves the dwarves and Gandalf tea and then supper, Bilbo learns that Gandalf has advertised him to the dwarves as a burglar. The dwarves wish him to help them on their quest to the Lonely Mountain, where they hope to recover treasure from Smaug the dragon, who destroyed their ancestral home under the mountain. Gollum figures out that Bilbo has the ring and tries to attack Bilbo, at which point Bilbo discovers that the ring makes its wearer invisible. With the help of the ring, he escapes from the tunnels and is reunited with his companions, who are surprised to find him alive. Soon after their reunion, they are caught and treed by Wargs, evil wolves who are allies of the goblins. Gandalf tries to rescue them by throwing burning pinecones at them, but the goblins soon arrive and set fire to the trees. At the last minute, they are rescued by a flock of eagles, which carry them to a safe spot. The next day, the eagles carry them a little further along on their journey to a spot in the wilderness. In need of rest and provisions, the group seeks shelter with Beorn, a man bear who can take on either form. An essential concept that professional anthropologists apply in their fieldworks is cultural relativism an approach to study of the nature and role of values in a culture without judgment and comparison to their own. According to the Study Guide, Smillie and Kenny state that major contribution to the study of the concept of cultural relativism can be attributed to Boas and his students, who challenged a wide spread idea that societies are staged along a line from the most undeveloped to most civilized. Thus, in order to understand and speculate about others, it is important to understand human nature in the light of unique cultural customs and beliefs before passing judgment. However, there are situations when it is difficult to suspend judgment and engage with a cultural relativist approach. Particularly, when people engage in behaviors that are harmful to individuals or when basic human rights are at stake, sometimes it is necessary to intervene and hold back cultural tolerance. On the other hand, it has been questioned whether it is ethical to impose one s beliefs and cultural standards on someone else; especially, when subjected individuals have no concerns with their controversial cultural practices. Who decides at what degree of a controversial issue an anthropologist has a right to intervene on account of human rights violation? On that note, this paper will focus on the issues of human rights violation that makes it difficult to engage in cultural relativism. While each cultural practice, controversial or not, can be justified within its cultural content, it does not mean that it is appropriate and accepted. • 14. Similarities Between Redon And David Hockney Artists often use their personal perceptions as a stimulus for their artwork. They are able to use their work to express a certain viewpoint they may have on a subject. Well renowned artists, Odilon Redon and David Hockney have both manipulated their artistic abilities to express their perceptions through their work with their art movements. Redon is a renowned 18th 19th century French symbolist artist whose works revolve around his dreams, fantasy and imagination, The Cyclops (1914), being one of his most recognised paintings. David Hockney is a painter and photographer and is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century, a prime example of his work being, A Bigger Splash (1966.) Both artworks reflect the artist s personal perceptions and contain similarities and differences with their movements, intentions and use of stylistic features. At the beginning of his career, Redon s works were exclusively in black and white in lithographic prints and charcoal. His works consisted of a monochromatic colour scheme representing symbolism in his unusual dreamlike creations, called noirs. In an interview, Redon stated that his noirs are his most personal expressions. These works were a product of his creative imagination of depictions of his knowledge and perception on evolution theories, presented by Charles Darwin at the time. The noirs were also a reflection on his pessimism and melancholy, particularly as a child, and a representation of how he views the world. Contradictory to his early works, Redon transfigured into non naturalistic colour themed pastels and oil paintings. Many of these oeuvres were abstract, generally constructed of an ethereal chromatic background with a focal subject and an overall hazy appeal. The Cyclops is a versatile example of Redon s work as it is an oil painting with noir themes. The artwork illustrates a mountain and rocky landscape, with a Cyclops creature emerging from behind the tall mountain in the background of the scenario. Slightly off centre to the right there is a naked woman who appears to be sleeping peacefully amongst the abstract plantation on the hill. What famous people indeed ordinary people, too do in private should be off limits to the media unless they give permission for those activities to be reported, photographed, or filmed. The only exceptions would be if a newspaper has reasonable grounds for believing that the individuals concerned are breaking the law, or that, even if they are not breaking the law, they are behaving in such a way as to render them unfit to perform the duties expected of them. Thus, a pop star s consumption of illegal drugs may be reported, but not his or her sexual habits (if they are legal). As it lingers inside them, it does not let up on its firm grasp on the victim. This demonstrates how society s views can have a negative effect on an individual. Outside pressure can become an overbearing force that is placed on individuals. People should not try to capsize a stable boat when there is nothing wrong with it. People are too focused on what makes them different from society, and how that is a negative thing. However, being unique is what makes them beautiful. Comparing murky pond water and a crystal clear mirror allows people to see the distortions in themselves and how everything is not surface deep. When looking into a murky pond or a clear mirror, people perceive a distorted version of themselves. A pond drenched by pouring rain soon causes the overflowing waters to escape from the banks and loosens the rich, black soil. The next day, the cloudy pond is consumed by the disrupted mud which dims the reflection that is cast when the on looker is looking in. As the mud rises to the surface, the image people have of themselves become muddled. Diabetes Mellitus Essays Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by high blood sugar (glucose) levels, which result from defects in insulin secretion, or action, or both. Diabetes mellitus Diabetes is a chronic medical condition, meaning that although it can be controlled, it lasts a lifetime. Individuals are normally capable of digesting carbohydrates, in particular those most common in food; starch, and some disaccharides such as sucrose, are converted within a few hours to simpler forms such as the monosaccharide glucose, the principal carbohydrate energy source used by the body. Insulin is released into the blood by beta cells, located in the Islets of Langerhans in the pancreas, in response to rising levels of blood glucose, usually ... • 31. Entertainment Media Influence On American Culture Influence Of Entertainment Media I believe entertainment media does have an influence on our culture simply because, it s all around us through the radio, television, newspaper, and Internet etc. Throughout listening to the radio, watching the television, reading the newspaper and surfing the Internet this activity holds the attention and interest of us or gives us pleasure and delight. Once we become so engaged and involved in what we are watching, hearing or even reading we believe and we tend to sometimes take on the form of what we are engaged into. This alone could be one of the reasons why it allows American culture to change their values and morals and tend to look at life differently. The word entertainment is basically what it says when we speak of entertainment media we are speaking on something that amuses us and keep our attention and most importantly it influences our ways of thinking and how we perceive different situations in life. For instance, if you are watching a movie that contains violence and killing it does not necessarily mean you will act out violence and killing. But there are individuals who ... • 32. Notes on Max Weber s The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit... There are a number of different modern social theories regarding the nature of society, social change, human s place within society and the idea of how integration and alienation fit within a modern society. These paradigms combine reflexively into a notion of history. Max Weber was a German politician, scholar, economist, and sociologist. In fact, he founded the modern studies of sociology, public administration, and organizational theory. He was born in 1864 and so was writing and publishing after Marx, but still looking at capitalism, socialism, and the various dictates of society as ways humans are shaped, actualized, and able to have upward mobility. He is most famous for his works surrounding the sociology of religion and government, and how those two institutions shaped, controlled, and contributed to humankind. For Weber, the idea of rationalism rational thought based on societal efficiency and productivity, runs through his works particularly The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism. In this seminal work, Weber argues that the idea of Protestantism contributes to history and economics in that piety and the chance for a better life after death cause humans to strive for economic gain in certain ways, whereas that is not always using work as an expression of self it is work, as Marx might say, for the ends justifying the means, rather than the means justifying what work is being done. • 33. Summary Of The Most Good You Can Do The novel, The Most Good You Can Do: How Effective Altruism Is Changing Ideas About Living Ethically, by Peter Singer introduces ideas on how to utilize effective altruism to improve the world in the best way possible. Singer believes that the only way to live a truly ethical life is to practice effective altruism. This involves living modestly and/or choosing jobs with higher wages in order to donate more, choosing the charities that will be the most effective, spreading the word of altruism, donating a part of the body, and putting emotional attachments aside in order to objectively help those who need it the most. Effective altruism changes minds on what doing the most good actually means. Before this book was assigned to me, my family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, giving money to the National Federation of the Blind because I have an eye condition or volunteering at an animal shelter because I love animals. While these acts are definitely commendable, I ve learned that they aren t what effective altruism is about. These acts would be considered misguided grounds for giving (86). Effective altruism is about doing the most good by helping the most people who need the most help. Singer raises an interesting point that I hadn t thought of before; aiding poverty in third world countries will have more of an impact than aiding poverty in America because poverty in America is still relatively more affluent than poverty in third world countries. Which is challenging because as I ve said before, part of human nature is to want to help the people and causes that you have a bond with. If you choose to be an effective altruist, you need to have perspective on what will do the most good. You must see the world objectively and intellectually. For example, not to donate a kidney to someone in need is to value one s own life at four thousand times that of a stranger (87). However, my own sense of community still stands strong. I grew up in a small town on a small island where traits like empathy and passion were held above objectivity and intellect. Therefore, while this book raises logical points about how we should view the world, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A number of studies have shown PACT to be highly effective in the in vitro destruction of viruses and protozoa, as well as Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria and fungi. The ability of visible light photosensitising agent combinations to kill microorganisms has been known for over 100 years. PACT is an abbreviation and scientific term that stands for Photodynamic Antimicrobial Therapy. Photodynamic Antimicrobial Therapy (PACT) has been used effectively in medicine since the 1990s for the treatment of tumours, skin diseases and wound infections. • 35. The Hoosier School Master By Edward Eggleston In the book, The Hoosier School Master, author Edward Eggleston depicts life in a 19th century rural community. His story reflects the lives of those who might have lived there at the time. Eggleston narrates the book from a point of view that closely reflects what life would have been like in rural Indiana, where he includes facts about the community and its members, as well as what it was like to be a student and a teacher in the 19th century. Flat Creek offers all examples of the experiences of a not only a teacher, but a teacher who has moved to a small unknown community. It also offers a perspective students and community members would have on schooling, and its value. I argue that due to the limited resources, the community s involvement, and geographical location, students were unable to receive a well rounded education in a rural community during the 19th century. I will use the book and class materials to support my argument that there were limited resources, lower quality of life, high teacher turnover, and limited opportunities for female and minority students (lack thereof). Limited resources were available in rural communities during the 19th and early 20th century. The book has several examples that illustrate the limited resources Flat Creek, or a similar community, might have had during that time. First, the school itself was most likely small and had a deteriorating structure. I found it interesting that there was a pond underneath the schoolhouse, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rhetoric is used to persuade, or impact an audience. Using rhetoric, Martin Luther King Jr. not only persuades a large audience of civil rights activist in his I Have a Dream speech, he also grabbed the attention of the entire country. Martin Luther King Jr. s goal is to raise awareness about racism and to end segregation and discrimination in the United States. It is important to King that he conveys his message to the people in a convincing way. The best way to persuade and grab the attention of an audience into agreeing with a message, is to use rhetoric. In I Have a Dream , Martin Luther King Jr. attempts to persuade his audience into agreeing with his message by using rhetorical devices, the use motifs, and the use of logos, pathos, and ethos. In Martin Luther King s I Have a Dream speech, he demands racial justice and an integrated society. Rhetorical devices convinced many in the black community to adopt these ideas, and have enough confidence to stand up for what King was preaching. Using allusions allows the writer to relate the material to important documents. Such type of transactions show high impact on concurrency control. So, we are analyzing how those transaction bias the concurrency control in database management system. Introduction: The basic problem of concurrency control is sharing the data in database at a time by many numbers of users. Due to many users accessing data at a time which causes to produce the undesirable output or system failure even the transaction is correct. This problem may not occur due to read operations. This problem is due to manipulating data in database such that performing creates, modify and write operations on data items. The delete operation has capability of deleting the data items which is similar to modify operation. And the insert operation have able to create a new data items and assign the values if data items are not exist before staring the transaction which is similar to the create and write operation in database.
