The Diesel Hybrid Combustion Engine Essay
The Diesel Hybrid Combustion Engine
Two main types of engines powering everyday machinery are diesel and gasoline internal combustion
engines. Both vary on efficiency levels, but are still effective. Diesel engines have high efficiency
levels, such as producing great amount of torque at very low rpms. They are also known for their fuel
efficient behavior and capability to produce low emissions.
Their capability to produce power at an efficient rate with little wear on the engine, this makes these
engines ideal for hybrid integration. Hybrid integration takes a typical engine and combines it with an
electric generator and motor, with the application of other electrical systems applied. Allowing the ...

These tests represent the percentage of green house gases that the engine will produce over its
lifetime. The results are as follows: the gasoline combustion engine is 88%, the diesel hybrid engine is
56% (Weiss 29).
The MIT testing and research went into much more detail besides fuel efficiency and emission release.
These areas are still are very important in the mind of the everyday consumer.
Current Developments:
The diesel hybrid idea is now being applied to several different applications. It ranges from road, to
water, and railroad. In each scenario the applications are the similar but the designs are different.
In Vancouver, Canada, RailPower Technologies has designed a hybrid locomotive, the Green Goat,
which utilizes diesel fuel and electric motors. The basic design started with removing all the original
engine parts and replacing them with a 6.0L Daewoo diesel engine and 20 volt lead acid batteries
(Siuru 1). This design uses the diesel engine, which acts as a generator to charge the batteries. The
batteries are then used to power the locomotive. Batteries propel the locomotive leaving more empty
space under the hood. The result of all this is: ability to create a smaller hood increasing overall
visibility for locomotive engineers, fuel economy improvement of 35%, and a 90% reduction of
overall emissions (Siuru 1).

Security Plan For Cyber Security
In relation to defence spending, it s visible that there was a positive increase in the year succeeding
2007, directly after the attacks. Though this was dramatically decreased for the following two years,
which can be explained by the global economic downturn which begun in 2008 (Grigor′ev Salikhov,
2009). Therefore it is not possible to conclude that Estonia directly increased spending on defence by
a significant figure because of the events that took place in 2007, but it can be deduced that spending
has had a gradual rise thereafter and is currently based above €500 million euro with sufficient
proportions being allocated to relevant cyber defence mediums which have been ongoing since 2007.

‘Resurrection Is More Likely to Be True Than...
Resurrection is more likely to be true than reincarnation. Discuss
In discussing this statement, we must first define the words resurrection and reincarnation to decipher
what they mean. Resurrection is the act of rising from the dead or returning to life and reincarnation is
the rebirth of a soul in a new body. There are many problems surrounding the two due to mainly
religious beliefs. I will be focussing mainly of the religion of Hinduism as they believe in
reincarnation, and Christianity which believes in resurrection.
Reincarnation is a common belief in the eastern part of the world, with Buddhism as well as
Hinduism, supporting the idea of rebirth. In Hinduism each person has an essential self which is called
the Atman, and is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wrote a book, Twenty cases suggestive of reincarnation , where he looked at cases where people
had seen to be reincarnated from someone else in the past from India, Ceylon and Brazil. He used
examples of children to make his judgement more reliable as they would not be influenced by society
or money in such a way that adults might. In one case there was a boy, Imad, who talked about a
family whom he used to live with, and the family had no connection to this other family at all. He
gave the name of where he lived and the family name, events and people that he knew there, and could
even direct them to the area of where he used to live. Stevenson later found out that a man, Ibrahim,
had died there and which matched up to all the events that the man had seen. The reincarnation was
not immediate but was nine years later. This extraordinary case gives strong belief that reincarnation is
true. However philosopher John Locke studied Steveson s book and suggests that the dead person has
left behinf some psycic traces or husks and therefore has a memory of the previous life, and is
therefore not reincarnated.
Reincarnation completely goes against the teachings of many other religions, such as Christianity,
Islam and Judaism as resurrection is the key to their religion. Without resurrection there would be no
point to the religion. For

Middle East Faces Water Shortage For The Next 25 Years
Intro paragraph:
I collected the news articles for this assignment through various means. For instance, I used Google
search, and typed in keywords such as economy, scarce resources, economic analysis, economic data,
consumer demand, consumer spending and consumer prices. I would then click the news tab and
looked through the list of recent news articles, and I would pick the ones that caught my attention the
most. I also went directly to well known news websites, such as the Miami Herald, Washington Post,
New York times, Forbes, and Daily Finance. The method I used the most was Google Search, due to
the wide variety of options it offered, and because the articles were more organized by date, compared
to the other websites. I also watched the News, and then searched for the article I saw on TV through
search engines such as Google, Yahoo.etc

Freedom, that is what is on every college freshman s mind when they step onto their campus, I

your life. You are promised opportunities and a guaranteed a better future, whether that means
climbing up the economic ladder or enriching your knowledge, there is a clear understanding that
these years will be your best. Although sometimes they are your worst, what colleges do not tell you,
or even what they do. The lies we are fed and the manipulation that we are unaware of is a growing
matter among campuses. I have seen cases shut down and thrown away just so that the school can say

The Origins, History, Value, and Future of Cartography
THE ORIGINS, HISTORY, VALUE AND FUTURE OF CARTOGRAPHY
Introduction
Cartography has existed for thousands of years. From the early days of tribes marking off where their
best hunting grounds are, to the modern day of mapping flight paths, cartography has evolved and
developed in various ways to what it is today. There are now technologies that allow for people to
design maps in ways never imagined before. Computer programmes exist that allow for different types
of data to be stored so that accurate representations can be formed. It has been said that, Maps are
pictures of the world s land surface, showing its features, resources and the way it has been developed.
(Bondi, et al., 1977)
Origins and History
The beginnings of Cartography
It has been said that Cartography originated thousands of years ago. Wall paintings believed to
represent a maps of the heavens exist all around the world. The oldest maps that have been preserved
on Babylonian clay tablets are from around 2300 B.C. Cartography as a whole was dominant in
Greece as the subject was more advanced than other locations and so the spherical Earth was well
known amongst Greek philosophers. (Aber, 2008). The reference line principle was created by one of
Aristotle s disciples. Dichaearchus was this disciple s name and he obtained this theory by placing an
orientation line that ran from east to west. (Fuechsel, 2013)
The Roman Era is the next part of history where Cartography was involved in. Maps in this time

Waite House Reflection
When first prompted with the assignment to volunteer 20 hours of my time somewhere off the
University of Minnesota s campus, I was quite stressed out because of the time commitment.
However, as I was reading through the list of possible locations to volunteer one particular place
grabbed my attention and made me feel as though it would not be as terrible of an experience that I
assumed it would be for me. The name of this place was Waite House and thankfully it is currently the
organization where I am engaging in my service learning. Waite House is located in the Ventura
Village neighborhood within the Phillips community in Minneapolis. Waite House caught my
attention because not only was it a relatively short commute on the public transit system, but the
description mentioned youth fitness and obesity/diabetes prevention. Not only am I educated in
diabetes prevention, but I also have previous experience with fitness and working with youth. So, I
applied to this organization because I felt as though Waite House would be the perfect placement for
me. According to the Waite House website, their purpose/mission states the following: Waite House
programs integrate civic engagement with human services to bring about positive change within our

size prohibited them from physical confrontation. Instead, the Nekrums created virus sized
intelligences. With these, they were able to infect and thereby pilot living vessels to do their bidding.
And as masters of genetic splicing, they had created many kinds of monsters to defend themselves.
Montague was aware that Gretchen knew that the origin of their people had begun on a planet other
than Naan, in a civilization that was much more evolved than the colony in which they lived. No
longer able to reproduce, the Nekrum race is dying. Long ago, on a distant planet, they learned that the
humans of Enot developed a technology that would cure their genetic defect. So they invaded and
stole the miracle machine. Soon after they learned that the machine alone couldn t generate the cure.
There was another piece to the secret, and that piece was inserted into the blood of Gabriel Volpi who
later escaped Enot and migrated to Naan. He d come with nineteen other humans who escaped from
the clutches of the Nekrums. And he had a son, ensuring the survival of his bloodline and the gene. ...

Research Paper On Heteronormativity
Heteronormativity is the idea that humans exist in specific, complementary genders and that having
either of these two genders means that you are to follow the roles set by the society that you live in. It
assumes that heterosexuality is the norm for humans and that marriages and sexual relations should
occur exclusively between members of the opposite sex. Men should be masculine, emotionally
conservative, have financial and social power and be interested in women, while women should be
feminine, loving and emotional, instinctively maternal and be interested in finding a husband (Schilt
Westbrook, 2009).
At birth, an individual s gender is chosen in a split second and is often based on the outward physical
characteristics of their body (Schilt Westbrook, 2009). This leaves little room for genders that fall
outside of the standard societal binary. There is an emphasis on doing one s gender in a manner that
represents the structure of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Ingraham, 1994). It is rarely expected of individuals who are heterosexual to have to announce their
sexuality. Stereotypes can be detrimental as they tend to cause people to assume things in others based
on a group that they may or may not belong to. Either being or appearing as anything other than
heterosexual in American society has been looked at negatively in the past, and in many cases still is
(Ingraham, 1994).
Sex and gender are often mistakenly thought to go hand in hand and the terms are used
interchangeably, even though sex is biological, while gender is a social construct (Schilt Westbrook,
2009). When one is taught how they are to do their own gender, they often pass the same ideas along
to their children, perpetuating American gender standards with masculinity frequently outranking
femininity. (Scharff,

Essay on Hysteria
In the beginning was Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, who freed the emerging science from the
chains of superstition, introduced empirical observation and the bedside manner, and both identified
and named hysteria (Gilman 1993, 3). Hippocrates, lived in ancient Greece from 460 BCE to 377
BCE, the first [known] person to study hysterical actions believed (as did the proceding Greeks and
Romans) that hysteria was strictly a female problem, and in many cases almost any problem a female
had was considered hysteria (Gilman 1993, 4). This view was believed for an extensive period of time
but as Appignanesi asserts many other things that were once believed to be true are proven false later,

Her mother suffered from house wife s psychosis , her fathers brother was a hypochondriac, her
fathers sister was extremely neurotic. Dora had one brother who had a strange connection with her. In
the words of Freud, ...her brother was as a rule the first to start an illness and used to have it very
slightly, and then she would follow suit with a severe form of it. (15). Her brother (one and a half
years older then her), who tried to stay out of family affairs, when involved would side with his
mother over Dora or her father. This fits well with Freuds oedipal theories. In fact much of Freuds
analysis of Dora uncovered repressed sexual desires.
Around the age of eight Dora began to develop neurotic symptoms. Their family doctor diagnosed the
ailments as strictly mental and not physical. This is the precursor to her hysteria, as hysteria is strictly
a mental syndrome which can affect the physical body but resides in the confines of the mind. At the
age of twelve Dora suffered severe migraine headaches and random attacks of nervous coughing.
These usually went together but as the illness developed the afflictions came separately. By the age of
16 the coughing had totally although the coughing or tussis nervosa got worse and would last up to

Discrimination Based On Physical Appearance
Discrimination based on physical appearance, or lookism, has had a heavy impact throughout history.
For example, it is a common belief that John F. Kennedy s more favorable looks were a contributing
factor in his 1960 presidential win against Richard Nixon. To a lot of people, it may appear that
beautiful people have an unfair advantage in life. As a result of this belief, a world where becoming
beautiful is a rite of passage for all people seems to have an almost utopia like quality, but that is not
the case in the dystopian novel Specials by Scott Westerfeld. This book is an excellent reading choice
to open the eyes of people who are under the false impression that physical attractiveness makes a
person superior, and for those who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Despite the government s attempts to keep their citizens controlled, the people s conflicting nature

Although the special surgery s goal is to make people perfect, Tally still walks away from it with some
major character flaws, one being how conceited she becomes. Being special means she belongs to an

Evolution Of Evangelical Politics Summary
The author of this article traces the evolution of evangelical politics by first recognizing the goal of the
entire program. The goal of evangelical politics was to create a Republican majority in Congress and
to have a conservative Republican president who would push for the measures that evangelicals
themselves desired. Essentially, the broad goal of the Christian Right is to establish an evangelical
presence for evangelical Christians within the government in order to push for that kind of reform.
Four groups exist: fundamentalists, Pentecostals, charismatics, and neo evangelicals, even though they
generally do not get along. Fundamentalists are people who believe that the Bible is correct word for

However, after the embarrassment during the Scopes trial caused the movement to instead focus on
anticommunism. The Christian Crusade, the Christian Anti Communism Crusade and the Church
League epitomized this fight against communism. Opposing Medicare and believing that the Soviet
Union could not be allowed to overtake Israel, these groups maintained a strong anticommunist voice,
until the failure of McCarthyism. However, the voice of conservative Christianity remained strong and
this resulted in the formation of the Moral Majority, which gained a lot of attention as Jerry Falwell
created his Baptist Bible Fellowship which had significant influence on the surface. The Moral
Majority eventually faded, like all evangelical organizations before it, and Paul Robertson became the
new face of evangelicalism as he sought the presidential nomination from the Republican Party,
however he had strange and complex arguments and rationale which made him an unlikely candidate
but a major influence in bringing pentecostals out into politics. Paul Robertson lost support but was
successful in founding the Christian Coalition, a group which brought many evangelical Christians

democrat and republican parties Essay
The Democratic Party at its worst is better for the country than the Republican Party at its best. This
was a statement made by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1955. Lyndon B. Johnson of course was a Democrat.
Is this quote true today? That is a question that can only be answered after a careful analysis of the
philosophy of the Republican and Democratic leaders that help to run this nation.
Neither of the two major parties is made up of people who are all of one mind. Each party is a
coalition of many people with diverse interests who come together to get their candidates elected to
public office. (Political Science textbook) If this is the case, it makes the decision of choosing who is

Republicans want to limit the number of social programs and encourage the individual states to be

Republicans feel that the individual states should have more power. Democrats favor gun control

Republicans can be viewed as pro gun advocates. Democrats favor affirmative action for minorities

Democrats champion the cause of labor unions, while Republicans realizing that union votes are
important, at the same time feel that labor unions have too much power and cost big business too
much money. The next set of political differences about the issues of capital punishment and abortion
rights are quite paradoxical. Democrats favor a woman s right to choose, at the same time they are
against the death penalty and want to rehabilitate prisoners. Republicans, many of them are pro life as

As time and history have progressed, the institution of media has captured and held control over the
public ideology. In this modern capitalistic age, the power held over the media as developed and been

throughout history and in the present day. However, the context in which we communicate is
changing, and with this, the relationship and interaction between politics, media and public life have

harmful to society, in the absence of objective, complete and accurate relaying of information (Blair, T

Rape in wartime is as old as war itself and is considered an expected outcome of such violent conflict
(Bracewell 2000). The sexual invasion of a woman s body is the ultimate act in emasculating her
husband and eliciting turmoil in the community (Boose 2002, pp. 73) as it undermines the warrior and
displays his inability to protect his territory , particularly if performed in front of him. This
performance of terrorisation and humiliation was particularly prevalent in the Red Army s invasion of
Germany in World War Two, where the degradation ceremony would only occur in the presence of
witnesses (Johnson 2002). Not only this but the widespread rape of a nation s women is an attack on
the symbolic ideology of a nation (Gottschall J, 2004). A nation s women embody its core values and
are seen a beacons of purity and thus are marked as an enemy target, a territory to be to be conquered
(Mostov 1995). Its effects are akin to bombings, gassing and other genocidal acts, which has allowed
for the evolution of wartime rape into a key, systematic weapon of war, particularly in regards to its
long term consequences. The methodical rape of Tutsi women during the Rwanda Genocide was
implemented with the strategic intent to infect victims with HIV (Nduwimana 2004). This genocidal
act was deliberately enacted to deliver harm that is worse death, to heighten the suffering and
destruction of communities and humiliation of men. Villages were forced to watch some if not all of
their women fall prey to the disease, an on going reminder of the times of war and the nightmarish
acts that transpired (Nduwimana 2004). Rape in times of violence is indeed a historical phenomenon
based upon the expression of power and dominance. It has occurred persistently in human civilisation,
regardless of location,

Writers on observation discuss about observers having insider and outsider perspectives (Riche
Tanner, 1998; Pellegrini, 1996:16), Pellegrini (1996) believe that observers should have outsider
perspective, and they should divorce themselves entirely from interaction. In addition to this Wilson
(1992:38) added that observers need to be appropriately responsive and yet remained detached, to
avoid being drawn in and offering advice or doing anything with, or to, the subject. There are also
issues around being obtrusive this could have an effect on the participants especially when we want to
observe them in their natural setting (Pellegrini, 1996:49). Riche and Tanner (1998; Briggs, 1995)
support this but they acknowledge that observers can find it impossible to remain an outsider, and that
the observer will become part of the process, though that nature and degree may vary. When looking
back on my experience I had every intention to take on an outsider perspective however, during my

Should The Government Surveillance Of Internet Privacy
The internet is a vast global interconnected network enabling numerous people to access countless
information and communicate with others miles away. When browsing the web nowadays, however,
many forget what’s really happening behind the scenes. Internet cookies and complex algorithms
are being downloaded behind your back allowing big brand companies and even the federal
government to track what the people are doing. This is a major violation to our right to privacy which
is implied in the Constitution. On the other hand, it’s understandable for the government to have a
substantial amount of surveillance of the internet to monitor terrorists and people seeking to cause
harm, but the extent the US government controls over the web is absurdly large and unnecessary.

Analysis Of O Pioneers By Willa Cather
O Pioneers by Willa Cather sets itself apart from other novels of its time because of what its stands
for, feminism. It exemplifies women s equality, represented by the main character, Alexandra, by
showing her survival in a male dominated society. She succeeded in building her female identity and
achieved a sense of female attainment by revolutionizing the wild land and struggling for her equal
rights with all that surrounded her. This paper focuses on the feminist thoughts and the positive
attitude of the image of the strong character Alexandra, who was independent, brave, and optimistic. A
spirit like hers, of strength and courage, insisted that she would never be defeated by man or nature.

in charge of the land Cather is showing her beliefs that women are beyond capable of being in charge
and making decisions without men. She built her own empire by turning the untamed land into
prosperous country side and she became one of the most successful farmers on the divide even after a
long sixteen year struggle. Alexandra dealt with criticism not only from other farmers but even from
her own brother s. Lou turned to his brother. This is what comes of letting a woman meddle in
business, he said bitterly. We ought to have taken things in our own hands years ago. But she liked to
run things, and we humored her (Cather). She only wanted the best for their family and to respect her
father s wishes but her own brother s doubted her time and time again. Even though she did not have
full support of her family she knew that she was going to stay on their land and that they would
eventually begin to prosper again.

Independence and the Development of the American Identity...
During the 1800s, we find the theme of independence, or freedom from outside constraints, in the
development of two different frontiers. We find it in the American West through Manifest Destiny,
freedom from caste, and in the chance that homesteaders had to acquire virtually free land. We find
independence in math through in the building of stronger theoretical foundations, non Euclidean
geometries, and Cantor s infinities.
Independence involves breaking from the commonly accepted, traditional views in order to explore
the new. It is not necessarily individual people working alone. We can see independence in a
community of thought as well as in the work of a single person.
Independence is an important part of the Western culture as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the 1880s, Hulda Rocell and her daughter Mary emigrated from Sweden to the United States. Abe
Lincoln had just been shot. Mr. Rocell had to stay in Sweden because of his tuberculosis.
Nevertheless, Mr. Rocell said, Go to the United States. It is strong enough that Lincoln s assassination
will not plummet the nation into chaos. Although he did not place this optimism under the title of
Manifest Destiny, the idea that the United States is strong, and will continue despite opposition, is a
part of this concept.
Hulda married, and her family settled in a sod house in northern Minnesota. Her husband showed
independence and determination for the family to survive by planting fruit trees on the farm. It was
highly unusual to attempt to plant fruit trees that far north.
The family s independent spirit, and courage was a vital part of surviving in the harsh conditions they
encountered. In 1881, there was a terrible blizzard. The snow was so high that it covered the fence
posts. Father tied a rope around his waist and the porch post to tend the animals in a nearby shed, so
that he would not get lost in the blizzard. However, many neighbors froze to death right outside their
own front doors. During the storm, the wind blew the door of the sod house open. The younger
children got in the trundle bed to keep warm, while the parents and older children shoveled snow out
of the house for the rest of the day, so that they could shut the

Essay On Black Church
What I found disappointing about the surveys provided was that there seem to be no means to verify
the information collected. The questions asked in the survey were subjective. If I were to contact a
church and ask if they offer outreach, the majority will say yes. When asked what type of outreach the
answers would be similar. Do you offer services to youth? Yes, most churches have youth ministries.
Do you offer any form of education based programs? This would fall under Sunday school and Bible
Study, both staples in most churches. Do you have prison outreach? Again, churches offer this
ministry, which typically amounts to several members going to a local prison and praying with
prisoners. If the questions were more in depth the survey ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zion ministries. Again, there was no assurance that those who needed the food the most were served.
Many of the same faces that came through the lines headed to another giveaway taking places a half
mile from the church. The church can state that they have performed their duty of community outreach
by participating in these type programs. My question is what happens to the hungry in these
communities the other 364 days of the year?
Billingsley lists seven characteristics of churches that make a difference when it comes to outreach
ministry. These are denomination, church age, size, membership composition, ownership of church
building, number of clergy, and other paid staff. (Billingsley95). He believes that more characteristics
a church possesses the more valuable the outreach they provide. A separate 15 year study of the black
church is outlined in Lessons Learned: Conducting Culturally Competent Research and Providing
Interventions with Black Churches. In terms of research to determine the true effectiveness of the
black church several researchers conducted the study to determine how social workers can play a
central role in church outreach. At the conclusion of their research they experienced a number of
challenges and barriers. These challenges and barriers that impacted the research process are
communication, cultural insensitivity, theology and branding, gender, position of the pastor,

Controlled Fire During The Paleolithic Period
Controlled Fire in the Paleolithic Period (2.6 million B.C. 10,000 B.C.)
The origins of controlled fire go back to the Paleolithic Period, by early humans some of the evidence
takes us all the way back to East Africa. The use of controlled fire was a big and important
development for these early humans, this tool could be handled in so many ways not only provided
them food but also shelter, and protection.
The development of controlled fire meant that food could be haunted and cooked immediately so meat
wouldn t rot. Because there were many hominids scared across the world controlled fire allowed them
to defrost frozen meat in cold regions, this provided a more sterilized as well as nutritious diet. It
could not only be used for meats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clothing was part of these new developments, prehistoric clothing consisted of fur, grass, leaves and
leather that were wrapped or tied to the body in order to protect from elements of the time.
Archeologist have seen objects like handmade needles that were used to sew these clothing s in order
to create different items to keep them warm and dry. A main disadvantage of most prehistoric clothing
was that the materials would deteriorate quite fast, later on the next generation of humans found
themselves creating more durable and wearable pieces of clothing. Neanderthals faced harsh climates
there were parts of Northern Asia and Europe that had series of Ice ages, because of this man had to
step up and create something to keep their body heat. With the creation of tools in order to hunt they
found themselves hunting deer, mammoths and bears which provided large, thick and furry coats for
them. At first their clothing tended to be simple by making holes in the head and arm area letting them
drape all over their bodies. Later on it can be seen that they grew more and more sophisticated by
creating strips to wrap their clothing in place sort of like belts.
After Neanderthals there came the invention of the tunics by the Cro Magnon people they mainly
consisted of skin from a given animal and it

Despite of the stagnant population in western countries the balance of power was increasing from
large scale manufacturers like Nestlé, toward supermarkets and discounted chain stores. In result,
Nestlé decided to lessen its focus on developed markets like North America and its home based
market in Switzerland to emerging market like India and China. The driving force behind the decision
of expanding its market share in emerging market is simple, as the population grows and government
decisions favoring market economies brings attractive business opportunities for public living at
intermediate income.
Nestlé uses the strategy which correlates the ratio of increase in income to use of branded food
products, which means as a person earns more and has less time for making food in his/her home, they

Music Is An Identifying Characteristic Of Film And Television
Music is an identifying characteristic of film and television; everyone who has been exposed to
popular culture knows the theme for Star Wars and The Simpsons, even if they have never seen the
movie or show. Disney movies are no exception, and this is largely due to the genius creative mind of
Alan Menken. Menken is best known for composing the scores for some of the most beloved Disney
classics, including Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Hercules, Pocahontas, and
Tangled. He also made his mark composing for highly acclaimed Broadway musicals, including Little
Shop of Horrors and Newsies, as well as the stage adaptations of some of his Disney hits. The familiar
songs composed by Menken are permanently ingrained in our minds and are largely responsible for
the success of the films and theatrical works he was associated with. Alan Menken was born on July
22nd, 1949 in New York City. He grew up in New Rochelle, New York with his sisters, Faye and
Leah. Menken s family was heavily involved in the performing arts, setting the stage for his career at a
young age. His mother, Judy Menken, was an aspiring actress and playwright; his father, Norman
Menken was a dentist but played boogie woogie and show tunes on the piano as a hobby. Alan
Menken aspired to be a composer from a young age, but the men in his family typically became
dentists and he felt that he was expected to continue this tradition. However, he did learn to play the

BINGO Board Game Analysis
The objective of the first interactive learning activity is to promote a deeper understanding of the core
tenets of the Constitution. This can be accomplished by playing a BINGO board game. The prepared
BINGO cards will contain a total of twenty five squares with five rows going across and five rows
going down. Three BINGO cards will be distributed to parents containing the key tenets written on the
inside of each of the squares. Some of the tenets will be duplicated inside the squares while other
squares will contain a blank space. The parents will also receive a small packet of colored chips to use
as a marker for the squares.
A list of questions regarding each of the core tenets will begin the BINGO game. The speaker will
read one question relating to the core tenets. Parents will raise his or her hand to answer the question.
The presenter will continue to call on parents until a correct response has been given. The parents will
place a colored chip on the square if the correct answer is written inside the square. There will be more
questions asked than the number of squares on the BINGO cards. The winner of the game must have
colored chips in all squares going across, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Freshman Year Of High School
My Freshman year of high school is nearing an end and I mostly stayed out of trouble, which was a
great feat at the time. Until My buddy Sam and I decided to make some money off of our hobby .
Since we were tired of running out of weed to smoke, we decided to have a bake sale. We googled
how to do it and fired up the oven and ground up the weed. After about 30 minutes of baking and
assembling crackers we had made three firecrackers, or peanut butter crackers with specially prepared
weed in them. We both decided to do some quality control on the product and split one of the crackers
and ate it. We smoked like normal and were satisfied with what we made. We discussed the plans and
decided our goal was to sell both of the firecrackers tomorrow to make 20$ and get 2 grams to
continue the cycle and once we are making a good amount investing in a toaster oven to be more
discreet. The next day, being the smart human beings we were we smoked a bowl out of an apple at
the bus stop before getting on the bus. When school started we went to gym changed, and started to
sell the firecrackers. We told everyone we knew that smokes they were for sale and that they re 10$
apiece. No buyers. 2nd and 3rd hour roll by then Sam and I went to lunch. I walked over to a table of
people I knew and asked, Does anybody want to buy some firecrackers? One of them asked, How
much do they cost? and I responded with They are 10$ Joe and his friend Carl split the cost and
bought one, One down and one

the career that I want. I want to be a Register Nurse at Radys Children Hospital or at Sharp. I like
helping people and especially kids, I think kids are the best and especially when you have problems or

be getting their where I want to be. I am taking my course as a certified nursing assistant here at Job

you. I went to look for this program at other schools and I see that they don t offer you as much as
they do here so that s why I also choose to star my career here. Also this school was recommend by a
lot of friends that they graduated from here and that they are now working. In my career that I choose
for a certified nursing assistant there are too many skills that you would have to learn and focus about.
Some skills that you have to know are the need to be a fast learner, multitask person, be able to work
with both hands and be going from one side to another and standing all they. As a certified nursing

Advertising for 4G Technology with Sprint
Introduction
One of the most heavily advertised areas of technology in the United States currently is 4G
technology. Every commercial and advertisement promises fast speeds, great coverage, and
exceptional service altogether. However, the competition proves to be extreme and unbalanced. Since
its introduction on Sprint s network, 4G, or fourth generation cellular technology, has revolutionized
both the telecommunication arena while spilling into other technological fields. There is no end in
sight for the relentless competition of expanding 4G technologies as coverage and network speeds
continue to increase. Currently, 4G technology is offered by all major telecommunication carriers in
the United States: Verizon, AT T, T Mobile, and Sprint. However, the term 4G has been loosely used.
The best example of this can be associated with Sprint. The initial 4G technology Sprint offered was
based of WiMAX technology. WiMAX proved to be fast technology, but lackluster in its performance
and capabilities in regards to LTE. LTE has become the primary 4G technology in the United States
while development of WiMAX has ceased. In addition, Sprint s 4G vision has switched to LTE. The
question is raised Why did LTE win over WiMAX? . From many perspectives, LTE proved to be the
superior technology.
The Power of Networking One can easily argue that one of the greatest things that developed in the
latter half of the twentieth century was the internet. By combining networks of networks

A Cochlear Implant Is An Electronic Device That Substitutes
A Cochlear Implant is an electronic device that substitutes the damaged part of the inner ear to send
signals to the brain. It is used by profoundly deaf or severely deaf people. The first Cochlear Implant
was invented in the year of 1961 by Dr. William F. House. He was an american otologist, medical
researcher, and physician, born December 1st, 1923 died December 7th, 2012. Dr. William F. House
started the process of developing the Cochlear Implant during the late 1950s, after obtaining
knowledge of other experiments going on. He decided to put his focus on ear, nose, throat and later
decided to focus strictly on the ear when parents brought him two young kids they believed were deaf.
Dr. House performed the first Cochlear Implant surgery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly the sound processor forwards the codes to what s called the coil on the outside to the
implant. After that the implant changes the code into electrical pulses and sends them out through the
nerves. Lastly the cochlear nerve is stimulated and it sends out waves to the brain that are interpreted
as sound. Over time the cochlear implant has had technology advances as well as the size becoming
smaller and easier for deaf people to use. This surgical implant has both its benefits and disadvantages
for the deaf. One of the benefits of the Cochlear Implant is the hearing improvement, people with
them have the ability to interact more from hearing conversations, makes it to where less effort is
needed to understand others. It also helps children in school, present and future. The overall benefit
for everyone is they ll be able to adventure out more and it keeps them safer being able to hear. The
downside of the implant is how expensive the process is, and how many people have to pass up the
opportunity because of the cost. Another is that the sounds can be hurtful at first to the person and
adjusting could take time. The procedure for the Cochlear Implant is a disadvantage as well because of
the risk that all surgical procedures have, and the damage that could happen to the ear itself or face.
The deaf community s feelings about the Cochlear Implant is controversial, some believe that if one is
born deaf then that s what they

Medea And Jason
The play that we are discussing is called Medea that was written by the famous playwright Euripides
at the time 431 B.C.E and was also performed 431 BC.
This play was one of the Euripides most widely know plays and it was a big hit because of the tragic
storyline that it was expressing.
This play discussed the relationship between the respected and feared Medea and the father of her
children and proud warrior Jason and how over time the trust between both of them got tested and it
caused the viewers to truly consider that there is a lesson within the struggle that Medea and Jason go
through during this moment in their life. Also at the time of the first performance most people only
knew of two types of plays, comedy and tragedy and it caused an obvious sense of tragedy because

Personally, I think that the reason for these themes are to present a sense of awareness to the
mistreatment of people s emotions and how trying to manipulate people can lead to a huge downfall.
This statement is proven in the play by show that Medea was pushed so far that she thought of
resorting to killing her own children because she was so hurt by how the nation that she once ruled
were treating her and most importantly, she was hurt by her old husband Jason, who was going to
leave Medea, who once was the fair princess of her own country was now about to get replaced by a
younger and more beautiful princess that had shown deep interest in Jason. Also around that time it s
much easier for a man to have a woman listen to him and his problems while the female constantly
goes through problems that they can t express fully with their man, which can cause a big sense of

Advantages Of Ion Implantation
1.1 Ion Implantation
Ion implantation is a materials engineering operation where ions of a material are accelerated in an
electric field and impacted into a solid. Ion implantation can also be referred to as a technique used to
deposit precise quantities of n type and p type dopants or impurities into a semiconductor at a low
temperature. Ion implantation alters the physical, chemical, electronic properties of a material by
forcibly impacting different types of ions into the material.
In ion implantation, dopant atoms are volatilized, ionized, accelerated, separated by the mass to charge
ratios and directed at a target. The atoms enter the crystal lattice of the material and collide with the
existing atoms. These atoms lose energy and finally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

2.2 Principle of Laser Surface Treatment
Laser surface treatment works based on the principle of interaction between a beam of coherent light
which has a high power density and the desired surface within a specified atmosphere. Light is
generated in a resonator and directed at the surface of the sample. During the movement of the laser

  • 2. The Diesel Hybrid Combustion Engine Essay The Diesel Hybrid Combustion Engine Two main types of engines powering everyday machinery are diesel and gasoline internal combustion engines. Both vary on efficiency levels, but are still effective. Diesel engines have high efficiency levels, such as producing great amount of torque at very low rpms. They are also known for their fuel efficient behavior and capability to produce low emissions. Their capability to produce power at an efficient rate with little wear on the engine, this makes these engines ideal for hybrid integration. Hybrid integration takes a typical engine and combines it with an electric generator and motor, with the application of other electrical systems applied. Allowing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These tests represent the percentage of green house gases that the engine will produce over its lifetime. The results are as follows: the gasoline combustion engine is 88%, the diesel hybrid engine is 56% (Weiss 29). The MIT testing and research went into much more detail besides fuel efficiency and emission release. These areas are still are very important in the mind of the everyday consumer. Current Developments: The diesel hybrid idea is now being applied to several different applications. It ranges from road, to water, and railroad. In each scenario the applications are the similar but the designs are different. In Vancouver, Canada, RailPower Technologies has designed a hybrid locomotive, the Green Goat, which utilizes diesel fuel and electric motors. The basic design started with removing all the original engine parts and replacing them with a 6.0L Daewoo diesel engine and 20 volt lead acid batteries (Siuru 1). This design uses the diesel engine, which acts as a generator to charge the batteries. The batteries are then used to power the locomotive. Batteries propel the locomotive leaving more empty space under the hood. The result of all this is: ability to create a smaller hood increasing overall visibility for locomotive engineers, fuel economy improvement of 35%, and a 90% reduction of overall emissions (Siuru 1). • 3. Security Plan For Cyber Security In relation to defence spending, it s visible that there was a positive increase in the year succeeding 2007, directly after the attacks. Though this was dramatically decreased for the following two years, which can be explained by the global economic downturn which begun in 2008 (Grigor′ev Salikhov, 2009). Therefore it is not possible to conclude that Estonia directly increased spending on defence by a significant figure because of the events that took place in 2007, but it can be deduced that spending has had a gradual rise thereafter and is currently based above €500 million euro with sufficient proportions being allocated to relevant cyber defence mediums which have been ongoing since 2007. • 4. ‘Resurrection Is More Likely to Be True Than... Resurrection is more likely to be true than reincarnation. Discuss In discussing this statement, we must first define the words resurrection and reincarnation to decipher what they mean. Resurrection is the act of rising from the dead or returning to life and reincarnation is the rebirth of a soul in a new body. There are many problems surrounding the two due to mainly religious beliefs. I will be focussing mainly of the religion of Hinduism as they believe in reincarnation, and Christianity which believes in resurrection. Reincarnation is a common belief in the eastern part of the world, with Buddhism as well as Hinduism, supporting the idea of rebirth. In Hinduism each person has an essential self which is called the Atman, and is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He wrote a book, Twenty cases suggestive of reincarnation , where he looked at cases where people had seen to be reincarnated from someone else in the past from India, Ceylon and Brazil. He used examples of children to make his judgement more reliable as they would not be influenced by society or money in such a way that adults might. In one case there was a boy, Imad, who talked about a family whom he used to live with, and the family had no connection to this other family at all. He gave the name of where he lived and the family name, events and people that he knew there, and could even direct them to the area of where he used to live. Stevenson later found out that a man, Ibrahim, had died there and which matched up to all the events that the man had seen. The reincarnation was not immediate but was nine years later. This extraordinary case gives strong belief that reincarnation is true. However philosopher John Locke studied Steveson s book and suggests that the dead person has left behinf some psycic traces or husks and therefore has a memory of the previous life, and is therefore not reincarnated. Reincarnation completely goes against the teachings of many other religions, such as Christianity, Islam and Judaism as resurrection is the key to their religion. Without resurrection there would be no point to the religion. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Middle East Faces Water Shortage For The Next 25 Years Intro paragraph: I collected the news articles for this assignment through various means. For instance, I used Google search, and typed in keywords such as economy, scarce resources, economic analysis, economic data, consumer demand, consumer spending and consumer prices. I would then click the news tab and looked through the list of recent news articles, and I would pick the ones that caught my attention the most. I also went directly to well known news websites, such as the Miami Herald, Washington Post, New York times, Forbes, and Daily Finance. The method I used the most was Google Search, due to the wide variety of options it offered, and because the articles were more organized by date, compared to the other websites. I also watched the News, and then searched for the article I saw on TV through search engines such as Google, Yahoo.etc Article 1 Title of the Article: Middle East Faces Water Shortage for the next 25 years Authors first and last name: John Vidal Webaddress:http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/aug/27/middle east faces water shortages for the next 25 years study says Keywords/ Search terms: U.S economy, resources, scarce resources, scarcity, news Summary: This article talks about the scarcity of water that is being faced by people in the Middle East. • 7. The Origins, History, Value, and Future of Cartography THE ORIGINS, HISTORY, VALUE AND FUTURE OF CARTOGRAPHY Introduction Cartography has existed for thousands of years. From the early days of tribes marking off where their best hunting grounds are, to the modern day of mapping flight paths, cartography has evolved and developed in various ways to what it is today. There are now technologies that allow for people to design maps in ways never imagined before. Computer programmes exist that allow for different types of data to be stored so that accurate representations can be formed. It has been said that, Maps are pictures of the world s land surface, showing its features, resources and the way it has been developed. (Bondi, et al., 1977) Origins and History The beginnings of Cartography It has been said that Cartography originated thousands of years ago. Wall paintings believed to represent a maps of the heavens exist all around the world. The oldest maps that have been preserved on Babylonian clay tablets are from around 2300 B.C. Cartography as a whole was dominant in Greece as the subject was more advanced than other locations and so the spherical Earth was well known amongst Greek philosophers. (Aber, 2008). The reference line principle was created by one of Aristotle s disciples. Dichaearchus was this disciple s name and he obtained this theory by placing an orientation line that ran from east to west. (Fuechsel, 2013) The Roman Era is the next part of history where Cartography was involved in. Maps in this time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Waite House Reflection When first prompted with the assignment to volunteer 20 hours of my time somewhere off the University of Minnesota s campus, I was quite stressed out because of the time commitment. However, as I was reading through the list of possible locations to volunteer one particular place grabbed my attention and made me feel as though it would not be as terrible of an experience that I assumed it would be for me. The name of this place was Waite House and thankfully it is currently the organization where I am engaging in my service learning. Waite House is located in the Ventura Village neighborhood within the Phillips community in Minneapolis. Waite House caught my attention because not only was it a relatively short commute on the public transit system, but the description mentioned youth fitness and obesity/diabetes prevention. Not only am I educated in diabetes prevention, but I also have previous experience with fitness and working with youth. So, I applied to this organization because I felt as though Waite House would be the perfect placement for me. According to the Waite House website, their purpose/mission states the following: Waite House programs integrate civic engagement with human services to bring about positive change within our core focus areas of Employment and Training, Health and Nutrition, Youth ... • 9. Prologue To Montague Alternate Ending no mercy. As the other humanoid species among the five realms were much larger and stronger, their size prohibited them from physical confrontation. Instead, the Nekrums created virus sized intelligences. With these, they were able to infect and thereby pilot living vessels to do their bidding. And as masters of genetic splicing, they had created many kinds of monsters to defend themselves. Montague was aware that Gretchen knew that the origin of their people had begun on a planet other than Naan, in a civilization that was much more evolved than the colony in which they lived. No longer able to reproduce, the Nekrum race is dying. Long ago, on a distant planet, they learned that the humans of Enot developed a technology that would cure their genetic defect. So they invaded and stole the miracle machine. Soon after they learned that the machine alone couldn t generate the cure. There was another piece to the secret, and that piece was inserted into the blood of Gabriel Volpi who later escaped Enot and migrated to Naan. • 10. Research Paper On Heteronormativity Heteronormativity is the idea that humans exist in specific, complementary genders and that having either of these two genders means that you are to follow the roles set by the society that you live in. It assumes that heterosexuality is the norm for humans and that marriages and sexual relations should occur exclusively between members of the opposite sex. Men should be masculine, emotionally conservative, have financial and social power and be interested in women, while women should be feminine, loving and emotional, instinctively maternal and be interested in finding a husband (Schilt Westbrook, 2009). At birth, an individual s gender is chosen in a split second and is often based on the outward physical characteristics of their body (Schilt Westbrook, 2009). This leaves little room for genders that fall outside of the standard societal binary. There is an emphasis on doing one s gender in a manner that represents the structure of the ... Stereotypes can be detrimental as they tend to cause people to assume things in others based on a group that they may or may not belong to. Either being or appearing as anything other than heterosexual in American society has been looked at negatively in the past, and in many cases still is (Ingraham, 1994). Sex and gender are often mistakenly thought to go hand in hand and the terms are used interchangeably, even though sex is biological, while gender is a social construct (Schilt Westbrook, 2009). When one is taught how they are to do their own gender, they often pass the same ideas along to their children, perpetuating American gender standards with masculinity frequently outranking femininity. • 11. Essay on Hysteria In the beginning was Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, who freed the emerging science from the chains of superstition, introduced empirical observation and the bedside manner, and both identified and named hysteria (Gilman 1993, 3). Hippocrates, lived in ancient Greece from 460 BCE to 377 BCE, the first [known] person to study hysterical actions believed (as did the proceding Greeks and Romans) that hysteria was strictly a female problem, and in many cases almost any problem a female had was considered hysteria (Gilman 1993, 4). This view was believed for an extensive period of time but as Appignanesi asserts many other things that were once believed to be true are proven false later, i.e., the earth is the center of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her mother suffered from house wife s psychosis , her fathers brother was a hypochondriac, her fathers sister was extremely neurotic. Dora had one brother who had a strange connection with her. In the words of Freud, ...her brother was as a rule the first to start an illness and used to have it very slightly, and then she would follow suit with a severe form of it. (15). Her brother (one and a half years older then her), who tried to stay out of family affairs, when involved would side with his mother over Dora or her father. This fits well with Freuds oedipal theories. In fact much of Freuds analysis of Dora uncovered repressed sexual desires. Around the age of eight Dora began to develop neurotic symptoms. Their family doctor diagnosed the ailments as strictly mental and not physical. Kennedy s more favorable looks were a contributing factor in his 1960 presidential win against Richard Nixon. To a lot of people, it may appear that beautiful people have an unfair advantage in life. As a result of this belief, a world where becoming beautiful is a rite of passage for all people seems to have an almost utopia like quality, but that is not the case in the dystopian novel Specials by Scott Westerfeld. • 13. Evolution Of Evangelical Politics Summary The author of this article traces the evolution of evangelical politics by first recognizing the goal of the entire program. The goal of evangelical politics was to create a Republican majority in Congress and to have a conservative Republican president who would push for the measures that evangelicals themselves desired. Essentially, the broad goal of the Christian Right is to establish an evangelical presence for evangelical Christians within the government in order to push for that kind of reform. Four groups exist: fundamentalists, Pentecostals, charismatics, and neo evangelicals, even though they generally do not get along. However, the voice of conservative Christianity remained strong and this resulted in the formation of the Moral Majority, which gained a lot of attention as Jerry Falwell created his Baptist Bible Fellowship which had significant influence on the surface. The Moral Majority eventually faded, like all evangelical organizations before it, and Paul Robertson became the new face of evangelicalism as he sought the presidential nomination from the Republican Party, however he had strange and complex arguments and rationale which made him an unlikely candidate but a major influence in bringing pentecostals out into politics. Rape in wartime is as old as war itself and is considered an expected outcome of such violent conflict (Bracewell 2000). The sexual invasion of a woman s body is the ultimate act in emasculating her husband and eliciting turmoil in the community (Boose 2002, pp. 73) as it undermines the warrior and displays his inability to protect his territory , particularly if performed in front of him. This performance of terrorisation and humiliation was particularly prevalent in the Red Army s invasion of Germany in World War Two, where the degradation ceremony would only occur in the presence of witnesses (Johnson 2002). Not only this but the widespread rape of a nation s women is an attack on the symbolic ideology of a nation (Gottschall J, 2004). A nation s women embody its core values and are seen a beacons of purity and thus are marked as an enemy target, a territory to be to be conquered (Mostov 1995). Its effects are akin to bombings, gassing and other genocidal acts, which has allowed for the evolution of wartime rape into a key, systematic weapon of war, particularly in regards to its long term consequences. The methodical rape of Tutsi women during the Rwanda Genocide was implemented with the strategic intent to infect victims with HIV (Nduwimana 2004). This genocidal act was deliberately enacted to deliver harm that is worse death, to heighten the suffering and destruction of communities and humiliation of men. Villages were forced to watch some if not all of their women fall prey to the disease, an on going reminder of the times of war and the nightmarish acts that transpired (Nduwimana 2004). During the 1800s, we find the theme of independence, or freedom from outside constraints, in the development of two different frontiers. We find independence in math through in the building of stronger theoretical foundations, non Euclidean geometries, and Cantor s infinities. Every commercial and advertisement promises fast speeds, great coverage, and exceptional service altogether. However, the competition proves to be extreme and unbalanced. Since its introduction on Sprint s network, 4G, or fourth generation cellular technology, has revolutionized both the telecommunication arena while spilling into other technological fields. There is no end in sight for the relentless competition of expanding 4G technologies as coverage and network speeds continue to increase. Currently, 4G technology is offered by all major telecommunication carriers in the United States: Verizon, AT T, T Mobile, and Sprint. However, the term 4G has been loosely used. The best example of this can be associated with Sprint. The initial 4G technology Sprint offered was based of WiMAX technology. Over time the cochlear implant has had technology advances as well as the size becoming smaller and easier for deaf people to use. This surgical implant has both its benefits and disadvantages for the deaf. One of the benefits of the Cochlear Implant is the hearing improvement, people with them have the ability to interact more from hearing conversations, makes it to where less effort is needed to understand others. The downside of the implant is how expensive the process is, and how many people have to pass up the opportunity because of the cost. Another is that the sounds can be hurtful at first to the person and adjusting could take time. • 31. Obstructive Sleep Apnea (CSA) Sleep apnea is categorize into two different groups; Central Sleep Apnea (CSA) and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Central Sleep Apnea (CSA) is caused by cessations in air flow without respiratory effort. The CSA cases are extremely rare and often are mixed with Obstructive sleep apnea [1]. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the occasional interruption of breathing during sleep as a result of periodic airway blockage. It is more common in middle aged adults and preschool children [2]. Obstructive sleep apnea is considered a serious medical condition and millions suffer from OSA worldwide. Complications may include: hypertension, heart failure, myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, and stroke [3]. Interest and concern for the patient with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Medea And Jason The play that we are discussing is called Medea that was written by the famous playwright Euripides at the time 431 B.C.E and was also performed 431 BC. This play was one of the Euripides most widely know plays and it was a big hit because of the tragic storyline that it was expressing. This play discussed the relationship between the respected and feared Medea and the father of her children and proud warrior Jason and how over time the trust between both of them got tested and it caused the viewers to truly consider that there is a lesson within the struggle that Medea and Jason go through during this moment in their life. Also at the time of the first performance most people only knew of two types of plays, comedy and tragedy and it caused an obvious sense of tragedy because everything in the character Medea s life ... Personally, I think that the reason for these themes are to present a sense of awareness to the mistreatment of people s emotions and how trying to manipulate people can lead to a huge downfall. This statement is proven in the play by show that Medea was pushed so far that she thought of resorting to killing her own children because she was so hurt by how the nation that she once ruled were treating her and most importantly, she was hurt by her old husband Jason, who was going to leave Medea, who once was the fair princess of her own country was now about to get replaced by a younger and more beautiful princess that had shown deep interest in Jason. Also around that time it s much easier for a man to have a woman listen to him and his problems while the female constantly goes through problems that they can t express fully with their man, which can cause a big sense of neglect instead of comfort and ... • 33. Advantages Of Ion Implantation 1.1 Ion Implantation Ion implantation is a materials engineering operation where ions of a material are accelerated in an electric field and impacted into a solid. Ion implantation can also be referred to as a technique used to deposit precise quantities of n type and p type dopants or impurities into a semiconductor at a low temperature. Ion implantation alters the physical, chemical, electronic properties of a material by forcibly impacting different types of ions into the material. In ion implantation, dopant atoms are volatilized, ionized, accelerated, separated by the mass to charge ratios and directed at a target. The atoms enter the crystal lattice of the material and collide with the existing atoms. These atoms lose energy and finally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is performed to achieve a graded interface or strengthening adhesion between layers of materials that are incapable of attaining homogeneity. Fig. 1 Ion Implanter 2.1 Laser Surface Treatment Laser Surface Treatment is a technique which is used to enhance the property and repair damaged parts of work pieces. The process involves hardening, cladding and alloying with high processing speed and slight thermal effect on the fundamental substrate due to the accurate control of the heat input and addition of material. 2.2 Principle of Laser Surface Treatment Laser surface treatment works based on the principle of interaction between a beam of coherent light which has a high power density and the desired surface within a specified atmosphere. Light is generated in a resonator and directed at the surface of the sample. During the movement of the laser beam over the work piece, a track pattern is created at the surface. Based on the desired process and the geometry of the work piece, the system can be automated or designed to be controlled by robots.
