8th Grade Goodbyes Research Paper
EXAMPLE Eighth Grade Goodbyes They say we re too young to be apart of something that
matters, of something that s significant. We can t possibly have problems that mean anything, or
relationships that could last forever. Maybe they re right, but when you re in the eighth grade, it
s a little hard to see past all the middle school heartbreak and the people you live to impress.
Sometimes we don t want to admit that there s more to life than just eighth grade; that there is
more to life than the amazing friendships and the school we ve grown to find serenity in this
year. Whatever the reason is, we just don t want to say goodbye to the memories we ve made
here. When we leave middle school, the first thing we take with us is what we ve learned

Latin American Culture And Globalization
Economy: An expanding international commitment to free trade among countries has
internationalized the market for goods; people have access to goods that were previously out of
reach. Finally, in addition to the exchange of goods across borders, traders move billions of dollars
daily with the click of a mouse. Some countries have been helped by the newly emerging economic
order because they have the resources to expand production worldwide and to create goods that are
in demand internationally. On the other hand, some countries and individuals have been hurt
because they are not able to compete with the strongest producers internationally. The United States
is one of the world s leading exporters and maintains a lead in many of the future s most promising
industries, including biotechnology, space technology, and computer software. U.S. corporations
have sought a competitive edge by taking advantage of cheap labor in Latin America and Asia....

In one sense, globalization has produced strong pressures for harmonization of values around the
world, in particular, a value in universal human rights. In another important sense, globalization has
resulted in the emergence, interaction, and competition of many different value systems on the
global stage. While there have always been debate and discussion within cultures about values,
globalization has brought these debates to a global scale. Sometimes the interaction of differing
value systems has been a source of positive change and growth. The globalization of culture and
values has brought Western conceptions of democracy and liberty to many areas of the world in
the last twenty five years. In many cases, the internet and popular culture have helped to spread
those ideas. Many people resent the Americanization of the world and feel that the forces of
globalization threaten their

The Age Of New Imperialism
The Age of New Imperialism in Britain was a time of prosperity and total domination. Compared to
previous years of imperialism, this period was focused primarily on benefitting the colonial power,
Britain, instead of establishing new settlements. Even though the British imperialism of the late
19th century/early 20th century brought great wealth, knowledge, and technological advancements
to the country, it was at the expense of many other people in the empire. Britain, and Europe as a
whole, had to find a way to justify their superiority over these other countries subsequently leading
scientists decided to use their background and knowledge to create disciplines that had racist
ideologies at the root. These pseudo sciences were constructed to rationalize the imperialism during
the 19th century. This paper will discuss some of the most influential sciences produced during the
late 19th century, including social Darwinism, eugenics, and phrenology, that were used to justify
British Imperialism and how they supported imperialism.
White is the supreme race, non White people are inferior, White people are the ones with all the
achievements in the world these ideologies and theories, though formally constructed in the late
1800s, were created from discussions long before. The idea of race superiority has existed since
the 15th and 16th centuries, early days of African slavery, but at that time it was supported by
religion and God. In the early 16th century, a Swiss

Sectional Tension Dbq
Throughout much of the mid nineteenth century Northern and Southern states remained locked in
a fierce debate over the issues of slavery, state s rights, and taxation. This partitioning between the
North and the South is evident when examining the election of 1860. Abraham Lincoln, a
Northerner and product of the Republican party, faced opposition from Southern Democrats to such
a great extent that he did not even make the ballot in the South. The South was so angry at the
prospect of a Northern Republican becoming president and possibly interfering with their rights that
upon Lincoln s election, they seceded from the Union, leading up to the bloodiest war the United
Stateshad ever taken part in: the Civil War. This lack of conflict resolution... Show more content on

This set of 6 proposed Constitutional amendments was one of the last congressional attempts to
preserve the union without resorting to a full blown war with the South. This proposal was
ineffective because Congress found that the proposed amendments, one of which would have made
slave ownership a Constitutional right in the South, conceded too much to Southern extremists and
thus it was never passed. This compromise also would have extended the slave demarcation line,
splitting the United States in two sections and exacerbating the extent to which their were two
divisive political parties; one for Northern rights and one for Southern rights. By the time the
Crittenden Compromise was proposed slavery was no longer an issue which only pertained to the
maintenance of a political balance of power but it had also become a moral issue. This made
Northern voters much less likely to support a compromise that did not directly place a limit on
slavery, much less one that made it a Constitutional Amendment. With Northern voters beginning to
vehemently stand up for their beliefs against slavery and state authority and Southern voters still
refusing to back down from theirs, the ineffectiveness of past compromises was

The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Analysis
The otherness can refer to many things, mystical extraordinary places and situations, strange
people or objects that take on new meanings. Often the speaker of the poem is faced with
something they can t fully comprehend. If the encounter is between the speaker and an object that
can t reply or a place, the speaker learns something new about themselves and their relationship to
the object or place. If the encounter is between two people, there s a trend of the two not having the
same level of understanding. Both interactions are explored in Lyrical Ballads, the joint work
between William Wordsworthand Samuel Taylor Coleridge. In Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient
Mariner, the Mariner encounters deviations within his own behavior and otherworldly
experiences that change him. However, he can only describe the surreal events, not explain them.
He s unable to explain why he chose to shoot the albatross, which till that point had been a good
omen. This decision lead to the death of his crewmates and the curse being placed on him.
Moreover, he s unable to explain the appearance of the ghost ship, in which Death and Life in
death play for the crewmen s souls. When Life in death wins his soul, he doesn t understand why
she placed the curse on him. These unfound explanations for the events reflect on how nature doesn
t have to have an answer for its actions. His perceptions of underwater creatures change from being

The Invention Of The Modern Automobile Essay
Others Although Ford s industry that he built was the best and really what launched this whole
craze and really kicked it off. It was not the only automotive industry that has made risks that
paid off big time. As a matter of fact the blueprint for the modern automobile was perfected in
Germany and France in the late 1800s, so we weren t even the one who perfected the modern
automobile. General Motors On September 16, 1908 Durant spends $2,000 to incorporate
General Motors in New Jersey. Durant a high school dropout had made his fortune building horse
drawn carriages and in fact he hated cars he thought they were noisy, smelly, and dangerous
(William Durant creates General Motors, 2016). but the giant company he built would dominate
the American auto industry for decades(William Durant creates General Motors, 2016). In the
first years of the 20th century however that industry was a mess. There were about 45 different
car companies in the United States most of which sold only a handful of cars each year (William
Durant creates General Motors, 2016). Industrialist Benjamin Briscoe called this way of doing
business manufacturing gambling and he proposed a better idea (William Durant creates General
Motors, 2016). To build consumer confidence and drive the weakest car companies out of business
he wanted to consolidate the largest and most reliable manufacturers into one big company
(William Durant creates General Motors, 2016). This idea

In contrast to Schumpeter s liberal pacifism, Machiavelli s liberal imperialism encompasses that
the best form of state for imperial expansion are free republics and they are not pacifistic (Doyle,
1986:1154). He goes on to say that Liberty results from the competition and necessity for
compromise required by the division of powers among senate, consuls, and tribunes and also from
a powerful veto (Doyle, 1986:1154). When the citizens know that their lives and properties are
secure from seizure or attacks, liberty tends to encourage an increase population and property, with
strength and imperial expansion being the basis of protection (Doyle, 1986:1151). Machiavelli
says that expansion calls for a free republic rather than an aristocratic one. He used Rome and
Sparta/ Venice as examples respectively. Imperial expansion is important in order to avoid other
states with similar aims becoming a threat and also other citizens can pose to be a threat when they
are not allowed to satisfy their ambition or exercise their political strengths. This is the basis of the
traditional belief liberal imperialism, which Machiavelli tries to explain. The third theoretical
approach is Kant s liberal internationalism. This theory embodies both the liberal pacifism and
liberal imperialism and gives a clear explanation on these two legacies and helps to give an
understanding to international relations.

The Rights Of Rejection Of The Contract
The place of examination is subject to the agreement of both parties. It may be on pre shipment
inspection , nonetheless, it is inconvenient for the buyer to do so if he is in another country and
has no representative at the place of shipment . In Bragg v Villanova , the seller received the
documents and paid the price before taking the delivery and finding that the goods was not of
contract quality. The court found that he was considered as not accepting the goods until he had
reasonable opportunities to exercise examination, therefore, he had not lost his right of
rejection. The two rights of rejection in FOB contract are applied at the similar principle of CIF
contract as discussed. In particular, if the documents are inconsistent with the contract, the buyer
is entitled to reject them and give the seller opportunity to correct the defects; he may reject the
non conforming goods even though he accepts the documents . Under section 51(3) of the Sale
of Good Acts 1979, the damages are measured by: ... the difference between the contract price
and the market or current price of the goods at the time or times when they ought to have been
delivered, or (if no time was fixed) at the time of the refusal to deliver . In case of the classic
FOB contract, the place assigned in the contract for shipment is deemed the place where the
market is relevant . The time when the goods ought to have been delivered is considered as the
time at which they ought to have been placed free on

Essay Sustainability of the Intersection in Ontario, Canada
The signalized intersection between Highway 12 and Pine Street in Ontario, Canada has been
facing some challenges in its current design. Therefore, future analysis and design of the
intersection should incorporate a suitable sustainability indicator to ensure that the intersection
remains functional as a long term solution. Perhaps the most important sustainabilityindicators for
the intersection s future analysis or evaluation should be traffic demand together with the future
population (Litman 12). These sustainability indicators will ensure that the intersection remains
safe and performs at an optimum level for the future based on how it is designed today.
The most significant challenge that the intersection has been facing is the ... Show more content on

This has led to loss of fuel, energy and time when vehicles, especially trucks, wait for their chance
to clear the intersection. This is because drivers have to keep their vehicle engines on unnecessarily
at the intersection. In addition, this challenge has led to increased travel costs due to reduced
accessibility of vehicles to their destinations in time. The vehicular delays are even high during
peak hours in this intersection. Therefore, future evaluation of the intersection should consider
congestion and mobility as the most important design challenge. However, in the evaluation of
congestion reducing design strategies, civil engineers should adopt sustainable mechanisms. For
example, design mechanisms that increase diversity in the transport system such as transit
improvement will increase sustainability. On the other hand, those designs that increase the
population of traffic such as expansion of the intersection may reduce sustainability. To increase
sustainability, civil engineers should consider reliability and transport expenditures in the new
design. The current design of the intersection is unsustainable due to improper timing of the traffic
signals. There should be some regulations to the current traffic signals to avoid long delays in
traffic (Kockelman and Shabih 17). Mobility barriers at the intersection can result to a slow
response to emergencies. Therefore, the timing of traffic lights at the

Shame Stereotypes And Black Women In America Summary

INTRODUCTION
Sister Citizen; Shame, Stereotypes, and Black Women in America is a non fictional work

Weber, the Spirit of Capitalism and the Protestant Ethic
The protestant ethic and the spirit of capitalism, by M. Weber
I/ What is the spirit of capitalism?
According to Marx s theory, labour is what define oneself in the world and give meaning to one s
life. Weber emphasized that theory when he published in 1904 The protestant ethic and the spirit of
capitalism .
Contrary to what if often thought, capitalism is not an immoderate and immoral seek for money,
but a rational and controlled way of doing business.
Profitability, which could be defined as the efficiency at generating earnings, is the mean purpose of
the capitalistic state of mind. Limitless avidity is not a characteristic of the capitalism spirit but it
often get confused with the need of profitability that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, Protestantism appeals to seek for overall happiness through work and labour.
At least, Weber s theory also states that work plays a saving part in Protestants life, and more
specifically offers them a chance to get to an after life and helps them to stand the pressure of the
principle of predestination.
What is predestination? The Protestant faith states that only few elected people can have access
to the after life, but unlike Catholicism, there are no criteria on which you can rely on to be sure
you will get to Heaven. Hence, to be among the chosen ones, it is a duty to consider oneself
chosen, and in order to attain that self confidence, intense labour is strongly advised by pastors.
Predestination also means that there are no hopes for forgiveness, unlike the Catholic faith. One
cannot pretend to after life without an entire life of hard and intense labour.
Thus, work is for Protestants an act of justification of their faith, a mean to struggle against evil and
sin, and a way to get to after life. This explains why labour has the utmost importance in Protestant
s faith. It is believed that God helps those who help themselves: by working hard, Protestants create
their own salvation.
One s duty at work, which is for capitalistic culture a mix between the search of efficiency,
profitability and sense of investment, was influenced and eased by the Protestants and

12 Angry Men Juliar Quotes
The first juror that will be discussed is juror 7. Juror 7 s personality is impatient which is
highlighted in the story when he is in a hurry about the case, Right. This better be fast. I ve got
ticket to the Seven Year Itch tonight (313 314 Act 1). The quote shows that Juror 7 s priority is
not the case, but a baseball game representing his personality of impatient. The readers also see
that seven does not care about the case. For instance, in the story when he tells all the jurors he
wants to go, Who knows maybe we can all go home (314 Act 1) This shows that seven is
impatient and would rather let a kid die for him to go home. In fact the readers also see seven
breaking honor and justice when he argues with others who voted not guilty, So what d you vote
not guilty for? (314 Act 1) This shows how he break his honor because he wants everyone to
agree, but one juror does not in which he then proceeds to bully him. Another juror that will be
discussed is juror 8. Eight s personality would be generous because he would defend a kid. This

Criticize The Onion
The retail industry is a very competitive business to partake in. Companies will do anything to gain
the attention and respect of a new customer. Advertising plays a big role in helping companies
achieve these goals. The onion, a satirical website, released a mock press release that satirizes easily
fooled customers through humor and meticulous mocking, in order to expose the phony marketing
strategies companies use to allure customers. The onion takes the time to ridicule both sides of the
advertisingspectrum such as the consumers and advertisers. In the article, the doctors in the press
release break down the so called science that goes into the Magna sole inserts. They claim that,
Magna Soles convert the wearer s own energy to match the Earth s natural vibrational rate (line 46
48). This line was written by The Onion, to mock how advertisers will throw out complex scientific
terms and facts to assure possible customers that this is the product for them. The Doctors continues
by saying that only Magnasoles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, not only do they criticize them, they also criticize the consumers. For example, In the
article the customers give their reaction to the Magna Soles and one customer says, Why should
I pay thousands of dollars to have my spine realigned. . .when I can pay $20 for insoles clearly
endorsed by an intelligent looking man in a white lab coat (lines 65 68). The Onion writes this
line to make a caricature of gullible consumers who are only convinced by what they see, and
only that. The Onion reveals that ethos play a big part of today s marketing strategies. The
customer continues to say, Magna soles really seem like they re working (line 69). In this line, it
is made evident that some consumers fail to truly dig deep into the facts before they purchase a
product. The naiveness of the consumer, and how they are only merely convinced by what they are
shown, is highly zoomed in

The Overuse Of Antibiotics In Factory Farms
In 1929, Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin. He found it was so effective on killing many
common types of bacteria, that it became the most well known antibiotic. Penicillin became
popular in every hospital, and was widely used to treat infections. Fleming won a Nobel Prize in
medicine, and warned it is not difficult to make microbes resistant to penicillinin the laboratory by
exposing them to concentrations not sufficient to kill them (Philpott). He knew the dangers with
antibiotic resistant microbes, and knew they could be overused. Almost 50 years later, the problem
he envisioned became a reality. Factory farms are doing harm to humans and the environment for

One way is the runoff of contaminants into drinking water, and these contaminants include
pathogens, antibiotics, chemicals, and growth hormones. 53 percent of Americans use
groundwater as their main source of drinking water, and 29 states in the U.S have identified
CAFOs as the main cause for low quality groundwater. When pathogens are exposed to
groundwater, they have the ability to survive longer, and grow faster. This is due to lower
temperature, and lack of sunlight. Many factory farmers are developed near communities, so
humans are exposed to these contaminants. This can cause serious disease outbreaks within
families that live near waste runoff sites, and have the potential of the disease spreading across
the community (Hribar). The other way that factory farms can harm humans is the exposure to
dust particles. Livestock produce a particle called endotoxin. Endotoxin is the main cause for
respiratory diseases in American, so factory farms are the main source to blame. Endotoxin has
the ability to cause allergic reactions, asthma, and even some lung cancer has been caused by too
much exposure to this deadly particle. These particles can easily be brought to local communities
by wind because it mostly is settled down inside of barns or already floating in the air. The
manure also contains significant amounts of the particle, so when a farmer spreads manure on a
windy day, the wind can take it and spread it

Race Relations in Modern American Society Essay
Race Relations in Modern American Society
Race relations are an ever prominent issue in American society. Controversies focusing around race
are a commonly seen smeared across the front page of the newspaper or headlining on the evening

many Blacks to refer to the overwhelming power stemming from white racist tendencies. This racial
tension can sometimes can cause the oppressed to band together against the oppressor. Many times,

total assimilation and often directly impact one s quality of life. Items such as zoning laws,
housing and employment availability and quality of education seem to be set up so that these
two groups will never be able to escape what is referred to as a web of pathology. Even more so,
Mexicans have to deal with institutional racism in immigration laws. Many theorists believe that
this is the reason Blacks seem to be confined to the ghetto and Mexicans to the barrio. Many of
those who have been unable to escape their surroundings have chosen to separated rather than

The Ethics Of A Savior Sibling Essay
Kant claims that the human should act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your
own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a
means . Critics of savior sibling have argued that the procedure violates this concept. They argue
that there is something fundamentally wrong with parents having children for the wrong
reasons. In the case of a savior sibling, the parents are acting unethically by having a child for the
purpose of saving the life of a second child and not for the sake of the child being born. This
raises concern for the welfare of the child being created. One must agree that conceiving a child
can be wrong or done for the wrong reasons. Thus, first, it must be firmly established that the
creation of a savior sibling would be a wrong reason because the child will solely be treated as a
means. This argument against savior sibling is misleading as the child is not treated solely as a
means. And the Kantian concept does not prevent treating people as a means some time. In fact,
people are treated as means all the time, one example is used by Christine Overall, a critic of
savior sibling, arguing that her students use her as a mean semester after semester, simple to
acquire an education (86). John Harris argues that we all treat people as means perfectly
innocuously much of the time. In medical context, anyone who receives a blood transfusion has
used the blood donor as a means to their own end (Harris

Plastic bottles are one of the most common litter issues. Plastic bottles litter the land and waters
of Earth. More than half a billion bottles of water are purchased in the U.S. every week, this is
enough to circle the globe five times. Oil is used to make plastic bottles and ship them across the

percent of the bottles end up in landfills where they sit for thousands of years. Some of the bottles
we think are being recycled are actually just being shipped to other countries and thrown in their

The Heat Of The Sun In The Stranger By Albert Camus
Throughout the novel, The Stranger by Albert Camus, the protagonist Meursault is tortured and
motivated by the presence of the sun. The sun symbolizes life in the sense that it embodies the
inescapable fact of life, known as death. The sun crops up over and over again throughout the novel
from Maman s funeral to the Arab on the beach, and eventually to Meursault in the courtroom. This
reinforces the notion that the sunmirrors life as well as society, as it is always present. The sun
mirrors society based on the fact that it is constantly oppressing Meursault, just as society seems to
in regards to his unorthodox actions and emotions. From beginning to end, Meursault is
significantly affected by the heat of the sun both physically and mentally. The heat of the sun is the
driving force behind Meursault s actions for the duration of the novel as well as that it physically
harms and bothers him. Meursault is constantly complaining about the heat, stating that it is
making him sweat or that it is burning him, once again reflecting the fact that it symbolizes the
cruelty and judgement that comes with life. The sun s heat is such an unbearable presence for
Meursault that it literally pushes him to the point of not being able to think straight due to its

How Technology Has Changed The World And How Things Are Done
3 D printing is an emerging technology, that if properly done, has the potential to change the
world and how things are done. Although there have been many advancements over the years,
with further research and development this technology can become less expensive, easier to
make, and bring us things like household products and printed pizza. The Oxford dictionary
defines 3 D printing as a process for making a physical object from a three dimensional digital
model, typically by laying down many successive thin layers of a material (Definition of 3D printing
in English).
3 D printing has existed for decades and has morphed from a simplistic technology into a
complex one. It all started in 1984, when Charles Hull came up with the idea of a 3 D printer.
The online book Where are you from? states that, It first started with The Charles Hull s invention
of stereo lithography, which gave engineers and designers the ability to create 3 D models of their
designs by printing them . The printers use lasers and materials like plastics and polymers, that scan
back and forth making objects that were previously designed on a computer and then uploaded onto
the printer.
Now deciding what type of 3 D printer to buy can be the hardest thing. In certain cases, 3D
printers are better bought either fully assembled or self assembled. A lot of places go ahead and
buy a printer that is fully assembled and that can work as soon as they take it out of the box.

Modern Sensibility In The Tempest By William Shakespeare
Many people argue that among the many literary works composed by William Shakespeare the
tempest treats issues that revolve around reconciliation, forgiveness, and faith in the future
generation. Making use of character Prospero, the Author was able to develop the major themes
of the play that in broader context overthrow the Great chain of being and adopt a modern
sensibility. To be in a position of exposing how Shakespeare addresses the mentioned theme, a
consideration of a thesis statement that attitudes and actions of the main characters in play define
the implication a play has on society. To facilitate an extrapolation of the thesis in consideration,
I will first explain what is meant by the modern sensibility. In connection with artistic or social
activities, modern sensibility refers to an understanding or the ability to decide what is useful and
valuable. In a social setting application, modern sensibility is a way of understanding things to
the social ideals of an earlier age. Making use of character Prospero, the author shows how the
ideologies of an individual assume a different direction after suffering some of the transformation
in the society. As the play kicks off, Prospero s conduct displays a contradiction from the basic
tenets of Christian forgiveness. Depending on his good fortune, the character seizes the opportunity
to take vengeance of his enemy. The passage that presents the central focus of the book is one that
Prospero hopes that his plan to

The Psychosocial Theory Of Play During The Life Stages Of...
My report paper is based upon Erikson s psychosocial approach in the dimension of play during
the life stages of infancy and early school age. Psychosocial approach interested me the most
because it involves every stage of development from infancy to death in which there is a
psychosocial crisis that the person has to overcome to successfully move to the next stage of
development. These psychosocial crises are viewed as tension which are a normal experience
for each individual because a person s competencies and the demands that are place upon them
by society are not the same. Erikson s view of play interested me more than Piaget and Vygotsky
s which is why I chose to focus on the psychosocial theory of play. According to Erikson, The
play often not only represented the problem but also offers a solution so that children experience
some new sense of resolution and a reduction in the tension associated with the conflict
(Newman Newman, 2012, p. 214). Psychosocial is a combination of interactions among
biological, psychological, and societal processes which allows us to understand that this
approach has a multi disciplinary view. When a person has a positive resolution to each crisis it
helps the person become able to be successful in the following stages which is why it is so
important to be able to adapt. The way a person handles their life experiences also influences how
the direction of development occurs as well as the biological and societal aspects. These

What Is Chaucer s View Of The Church In The Canterbury Tales
In the days of Chaucer, one was not permitted to express their views of the church as much or as
directly as people have the option to do today. As a result, Chaucer had to be creative as to how he
wrote his opinions about the church. Chaucer wrote The Canterbury Tales for this purpose. In the
prologue of The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer utilizes imagery and verbal irony to convey his
viewpoint that the clergy is corrupt. The first clergy member described in the prologue is the
Prioress. The imagery Chaucer uses allows the audience to visualize the prioress. She is a nun
who possesses items, is flirtatious, acts like the wealthy classes, and is well dressed. The irony
Chaucer demonstrates is that the clergy is supposed to follow his or her oath of poverty and
chastity. The prioress is not the ideal member of the church.... Show more content on

The audience also can clearly see Chaucer s perception of the monk. The monk does not follow
the rules of the church; he also hunts, owns greyhounds and has fine horses. The irony of the monk
is that Catholics should not hunt or kill life, which goes against his religion; in addition, he is
going against his vow to poverty and prayer.
The next clergy member Chaucer describes is the friar. Chaucer s imagery to allow the audience
to view his personality. He is described to be a good beggar, but have more than he needed. He
married many girls off and heard confessions and told people a person was forgiven if they gave
the friar a small donation. He knew more about the bartenders and barmaids than he did about the
lepers and the poor, whom he was supposed to be helping. The irony is that friars are sworn to
poverty and only supposed to live off their donations. The friar obviously does not follow the rules

Essay On Giant Pandas
Pandas are a very cherished animal. Pandas throughout the world are known for their distinct
looks and their hearty diet of bamboo. However, overtime, they re threatened as a species. There s
only a few thousand Giant Pandas left in China due to varying factors. Giant Pandas are
endangered. There are several factors why they face extinction. One of the largest factors is losing
their habitat. Giant Pandas are found in China. They are local residents to China s bambooforests.
However, bamboo forests aren t as plentiful, either. Bamboo is a main staple in the Giant Pandas
diet. Another factor that affects the bamboo forests themselves is deforestation. The factors for
deforestation are for agricultural purposes, to clear more space for dwellings and farms, and gain
wood or other material gains for construction and manufacturing. Deforestation isn t the only factor
endangering Giant Pandas. They are poached for their fur. Giant Panda fur is sold on the black
market for extreme sums of money. Poachers aren t the only cause of endangerment. Surprisingly,

Minshan mountains in China as well as several provinces. Those mountains are rich in bamboo,
which is a large staple in their diet. Their diet includes roots and rodents, though their diet is
almost exclusively bamboo. Giant Pandas mate when they re five to six years old. They usually
have one cub, although they can have twins. It s less likely that both cubs will survive in the wild,
however. Cubs stay with their mothers for one to two years. Some ways to help save them from
extinction is preserving their native ranges and for China to enforce stricter poaching penalties.

the heroine had wore the same gown as Rebecca it was not because he missed her dearly, instead
it was because it reminded him of how awful his late wife traded him while they were together.
At the end of the novel the house goes u in flames and is destroyed much like how the idea the

The Story of the Puppet
Not even four feet tall the stocky, little man in patchy, homemade overalls was every bit of
invisible behind the massive haunches of Tiny, the circus s eldest, and in his opinion, smelliest,
African Elephant. Muttering obscenities beneath his breath, never missing a beat, Puppet
shoveled heavy scoopfuls of dung off the boxcar s floor and into an old wheelbarrow, pausing
only long enough to lean the shit stick against the wall before he grabbed the handles of the
wheelbarrow, his dark complexion reddening from the weight, and headed out to ditch the stink
someplace where it wouldn t be noticed until the circus was just a memory. He hated this work,
hated how all the fancy pants, the trapeze artists, the animal trainers, even the side show freaks
treated him as nothing more than a trained pet; existing only to clean up after them or serve them
in whatever fashion they so desired. He was even forced to bed down with the tamer animals. He
blamed the ringleader, Master Drachen, who since coming upon an abandoned toddler boy of
color in the middle of Arkansas during the early forties had rescued him only to make him a
perpetual slave and personal object of ridicule. When Puppet was young he d been grateful to
Master Drachen, quietly obedient, but as the years wore on the insults piled up; the sound of
laughter around the campfire, almost always directed at him, began echoing in his ears, their taunts
making his eyes sting and his heart ache more than the frequent beatings

Latin American Culture And Globalization Economy: An expanding international commitment to free trade among countries has internationalized the market for goods; people have access to goods that were previously out of reach. Finally, in addition to the exchange of goods across borders, traders move billions of dollars daily with the click of a mouse. Some countries have been helped by the newly emerging economic order because they have the resources to expand production worldwide and to create goods that are in demand internationally. On the other hand, some countries and individuals have been hurt because they are not able to compete with the strongest producers internationally. • 7. The Age Of New Imperialism The Age of New Imperialism in Britain was a time of prosperity and total domination. Compared to previous years of imperialism, this period was focused primarily on benefitting the colonial power, Britain, instead of establishing new settlements. Even though the British imperialism of the late 19th century/early 20th century brought great wealth, knowledge, and technological advancements to the country, it was at the expense of many other people in the empire. Britain, and Europe as a whole, had to find a way to justify their superiority over these other countries subsequently leading scientists decided to use their background and knowledge to create disciplines that had racist ideologies at the root. These pseudo sciences were constructed to rationalize the imperialism during the 19th century. This paper will discuss some of the most influential sciences produced during the late 19th century, including social Darwinism, eugenics, and phrenology, that were used to justify British Imperialism and how they supported imperialism. White is the supreme race, non White people are inferior, White people are the ones with all the achievements in the world these ideologies and theories, though formally constructed in the late 1800s, were created from discussions long before. The idea of race superiority has existed since the 15th and 16th centuries, early days of African slavery, but at that time it was supported by religion and God. • 9. Sectional Tension Dbq Throughout much of the mid nineteenth century Northern and Southern states remained locked in a fierce debate over the issues of slavery, state s rights, and taxation. This partitioning between the North and the South is evident when examining the election of 1860. Abraham Lincoln, a Northerner and product of the Republican party, faced opposition from Southern Democrats to such a great extent that he did not even make the ballot in the South. The South was so angry at the prospect of a Northern Republican becoming president and possibly interfering with their rights that upon Lincoln s election, they seceded from the Union, leading up to the bloodiest war the United Stateshad ever taken part in: the Civil War. This lack of conflict resolution... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This set of 6 proposed Constitutional amendments was one of the last congressional attempts to preserve the union without resorting to a full blown war with the South. This proposal was ineffective because Congress found that the proposed amendments, one of which would have made slave ownership a Constitutional right in the South, conceded too much to Southern extremists and thus it was never passed. This compromise also would have extended the slave demarcation line, splitting the United States in two sections and exacerbating the extent to which their were two divisive political parties; one for Northern rights and one for Southern rights. By the time the Crittenden Compromise was proposed slavery was no longer an issue which only pertained to the maintenance of a political balance of power but it had also become a moral issue. This made Northern voters much less likely to support a compromise that did not directly place a limit on slavery, much less one that made it a Constitutional Amendment. With Northern voters beginning to vehemently stand up for their beliefs against slavery and state authority and Southern voters still refusing to back down from theirs, the ineffectiveness of past compromises was ... Often the speaker of the poem is faced with something they can t fully comprehend. If the encounter is between the speaker and an object that can t reply or a place, the speaker learns something new about themselves and their relationship to the object or place. If the encounter is between two people, there s a trend of the two not having the same level of understanding. Both interactions are explored in Lyrical Ballads, the joint work between William Wordsworthand Samuel Taylor Coleridge. In Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the Mariner encounters deviations within his own behavior and otherworldly experiences that change him. However, he can only describe the surreal events, not explain them. He s unable to explain why he chose to shoot the albatross, which till that point had been a good omen. This decision lead to the death of his crewmates and the curse being placed on him. Moreover, he s unable to explain the appearance of the ghost ship, in which Death and Life in death play for the crewmen s souls. When Life in death wins his soul, he doesn t understand why she placed the curse on him. In the first years of the 20th century however that industry was a mess. There were about 45 different car companies in the United States most of which sold only a handful of cars each year (William Durant creates General Motors, 2016). Industrialist Benjamin Briscoe called this way of doing business manufacturing gambling and he proposed a better idea (William Durant creates General Motors, 2016). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast to Schumpeter s liberal pacifism, Machiavelli s liberal imperialism encompasses that the best form of state for imperial expansion are free republics and they are not pacifistic (Doyle, 1986:1154). He goes on to say that Liberty results from the competition and necessity for compromise required by the division of powers among senate, consuls, and tribunes and also from a powerful veto (Doyle, 1986:1154). When the citizens know that their lives and properties are secure from seizure or attacks, liberty tends to encourage an increase population and property, with strength and imperial expansion being the basis of protection (Doyle, 1986:1151). Machiavelli says that expansion calls for a free republic rather than an aristocratic one. He used Rome and Sparta/ Venice as examples respectively. Imperial expansion is important in order to avoid other states with similar aims becoming a threat and also other citizens can pose to be a threat when they are not allowed to satisfy their ambition or exercise their political strengths. This is the basis of the traditional belief liberal imperialism, which Machiavelli tries to explain. The third theoretical approach is Kant s liberal internationalism. It may be on pre shipment inspection , nonetheless, it is inconvenient for the buyer to do so if he is in another country and has no representative at the place of shipment . In Bragg v Villanova , the seller received the documents and paid the price before taking the delivery and finding that the goods was not of contract quality. The court found that he was considered as not accepting the goods until he had reasonable opportunities to exercise examination, therefore, he had not lost his right of rejection. The two rights of rejection in FOB contract are applied at the similar principle of CIF contract as discussed. In particular, if the documents are inconsistent with the contract, the buyer is entitled to reject them and give the seller opportunity to correct the defects; he may reject the non conforming goods even though he accepts the documents . Under section 51(3) of the Sale of Good Acts 1979, the damages are measured by: ... the difference between the contract price and the market or current price of the goods at the time or times when they ought to have been delivered, or (if no time was fixed) at the time of the refusal to deliver . Therefore, future analysis and design of the intersection should incorporate a suitable sustainability indicator to ensure that the intersection remains functional as a long term solution. Perhaps the most important sustainabilityindicators for the intersection s future analysis or evaluation should be traffic demand together with the future population (Litman 12). This has led to loss of fuel, energy and time when vehicles, especially trucks, wait for their chance to clear the intersection. This is because drivers have to keep their vehicle engines on unnecessarily at the intersection. In addition, this challenge has led to increased travel costs due to reduced accessibility of vehicles to their destinations in time. The vehicular delays are even high during peak hours in this intersection. Therefore, future evaluation of the intersection should consider congestion and mobility as the most important design challenge. However, in the evaluation of congestion reducing design strategies, civil engineers should adopt sustainable mechanisms. For example, design mechanisms that increase diversity in the transport system such as transit improvement will increase sustainability. On the other hand, those designs that increase the population of traffic such as expansion of the intersection may reduce sustainability. To increase sustainability, civil engineers should consider reliability and transport expenditures in the new design. The current design of the intersection is unsustainable due to improper timing of the traffic signals. There should be some regulations to the current traffic signals to avoid long delays in traffic (Kockelman and Shabih 17). Mobility barriers at the intersection can result to a slow response to emergencies. Therefore, the timing of traffic lights at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Contrary to what if often thought, capitalism is not an immoderate and immoral seek for money, but a rational and controlled way of doing business. Thus, Protestantism appeals to seek for overall happiness through work and labour. At least, Weber s theory also states that work plays a saving part in Protestants life, and more specifically offers them a chance to get to an after life and helps them to stand the pressure of the principle of predestination. What is predestination? The Protestant faith states that only few elected people can have access to the after life, but unlike Catholicism, there are no criteria on which you can rely on to be sure you will get to Heaven. Hence, to be among the chosen ones, it is a duty to consider oneself chosen, and in order to attain that self confidence, intense labour is strongly advised by pastors. Predestination also means that there are no hopes for forgiveness, unlike the Catholic faith. One cannot pretend to after life without an entire life of hard and intense labour. Thus, work is for Protestants an act of justification of their faith, a mean to struggle against evil and sin, and a way to get to after life. This explains why labour has the utmost importance in Protestant s faith. It is believed that God helps those who help themselves: by working hard, Protestants create their own salvation. One s duty at work, which is for capitalistic culture a mix between the search of efficiency, profitability and sense of investment, was influenced and eased by the Protestants and ... When pathogens are exposed to groundwater, they have the ability to survive longer, and grow faster. This is due to lower temperature, and lack of sunlight. Many factory farmers are developed near communities, so humans are exposed to these contaminants. This can cause serious disease outbreaks within families that live near waste runoff sites, and have the potential of the disease spreading across the community (Hribar). The other way that factory farms can harm humans is the exposure to dust particles. Livestock produce a particle called endotoxin. Endotoxin is the main cause for respiratory diseases in American, so factory farms are the main source to blame. Endotoxin has the ability to cause allergic reactions, asthma, and even some lung cancer has been caused by too much exposure to this deadly particle. • 29. The Ethics Of A Savior Sibling Essay Kant claims that the human should act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means . Critics of savior sibling have argued that the procedure violates this concept. They argue that there is something fundamentally wrong with parents having children for the wrong reasons. In the case of a savior sibling, the parents are acting unethically by having a child for the purpose of saving the life of a second child and not for the sake of the child being born. This raises concern for the welfare of the child being created. One must agree that conceiving a child can be wrong or done for the wrong reasons. Thus, first, it must be firmly established that the creation of a savior sibling would be a wrong reason because the child will solely be treated as a means. This argument against savior sibling is misleading as the child is not treated solely as a means. And the Kantian concept does not prevent treating people as a means some time. In fact, people are treated as means all the time, one example is used by Christine Overall, a critic of savior sibling, arguing that her students use her as a mean semester after semester, simple to acquire an education (86). John Harris argues that we all treat people as means perfectly innocuously much of the time. In medical context, anyone who receives a blood transfusion has used the blood donor as a means to their own end (Harris ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The sun symbolizes life in the sense that it embodies the inescapable fact of life, known as death. The sun crops up over and over again throughout the novel from Maman s funeral to the Arab on the beach, and eventually to Meursault in the courtroom. This reinforces the notion that the sunmirrors life as well as society, as it is always present. The sun mirrors society based on the fact that it is constantly oppressing Meursault, just as society seems to in regards to his unorthodox actions and emotions. From beginning to end, Meursault is significantly affected by the heat of the sun both physically and mentally. Although there have been many advancements over the years, with further research and development this technology can become less expensive, easier to make, and bring us things like household products and printed pizza. The Oxford dictionary defines 3 D printing as a process for making a physical object from a three dimensional digital model, typically by laying down many successive thin layers of a material (Definition of 3D printing in English). 3 D printing has existed for decades and has morphed from a simplistic technology into a complex one. It all started in 1984, when Charles Hull came up with the idea of a 3 D printer. The online book Where are you from? states that, It first started with The Charles Hull s invention of stereo lithography, which gave engineers and designers the ability to create 3 D models of their designs by printing them . The printers use lasers and materials like plastics and polymers, that scan back and forth making objects that were previously designed on a computer and then uploaded onto the printer. Making use of character Prospero, the Author was able to develop the major themes of the play that in broader context overthrow the Great chain of being and adopt a modern sensibility. To be in a position of exposing how Shakespeare addresses the mentioned theme, a consideration of a thesis statement that attitudes and actions of the main characters in play define the implication a play has on society. To facilitate an extrapolation of the thesis in consideration, I will first explain what is meant by the modern sensibility. In connection with artistic or social activities, modern sensibility refers to an understanding or the ability to decide what is useful and valuable. In a social setting application, modern sensibility is a way of understanding things to the social ideals of an earlier age. Making use of character Prospero, the author shows how the ideologies of an individual assume a different direction after suffering some of the transformation in the society. As the play kicks off, Prospero s conduct displays a contradiction from the basic tenets of Christian forgiveness. Depending on his good fortune, the character seizes the opportunity to take vengeance of his enemy. • 42. The Psychosocial Theory Of Play During The Life Stages Of... My report paper is based upon Erikson s psychosocial approach in the dimension of play during the life stages of infancy and early school age. Psychosocial approach interested me the most because it involves every stage of development from infancy to death in which there is a psychosocial crisis that the person has to overcome to successfully move to the next stage of development. These psychosocial crises are viewed as tension which are a normal experience for each individual because a person s competencies and the demands that are place upon them by society are not the same. Erikson s view of play interested me more than Piaget and Vygotsky s which is why I chose to focus on the psychosocial theory of play. According to Erikson, The play often not only represented the problem but also offers a solution so that children experience some new sense of resolution and a reduction in the tension associated with the conflict (Newman Newman, 2012, p. 214). Psychosocial is a combination of interactions among biological, psychological, and societal processes which allows us to understand that this approach has a multi disciplinary view. When a person has a positive resolution to each crisis it helps the person become able to be successful in the following stages which is why it is so important to be able to adapt. The way a person handles their life experiences also influences how the direction of development occurs as well as the biological and societal aspects. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Story of the Puppet Not even four feet tall the stocky, little man in patchy, homemade overalls was every bit of invisible behind the massive haunches of Tiny, the circus s eldest, and in his opinion, smelliest, African Elephant. Muttering obscenities beneath his breath, never missing a beat, Puppet shoveled heavy scoopfuls of dung off the boxcar s floor and into an old wheelbarrow, pausing only long enough to lean the shit stick against the wall before he grabbed the handles of the wheelbarrow, his dark complexion reddening from the weight, and headed out to ditch the stink someplace where it wouldn t be noticed until the circus was just a memory. He hated this work, hated how all the fancy pants, the trapeze artists, the animal trainers, even the side show freaks treated him as nothing more than a trained pet; existing only to clean up after them or serve them in whatever fashion they so desired. He was even forced to bed down with the tamer animals. He blamed the ringleader, Master Drachen, who since coming upon an abandoned toddler boy of color in the middle of Arkansas during the early forties had rescued him only to make him a perpetual slave and personal object of ridicule. When Puppet was young he d been grateful to Master Drachen, quietly obedient, but as the years wore on the insults piled up; the sound of laughter around the campfire, almost always directed at him, began echoing in his ears, their taunts making his eyes sting and his heart ache more than the frequent beatings ...
