Child abuse is defined as, physical and psychological injury that results from an intentional exposure
of a child to potentially harmful physical stimuli, sexual acts, or neglect (Boyd Bee, page 156).

Critical Thinking Research Paper
Without critical thinking, humans would be at the state that existed thousands of years ago, where
people believed everything they saw and experienced as magic, not as natural phenomena. Critical
thinking gives us the ability to form clear and rational judgments to separate what is true from what is
imaginary. It takes into account both our own internal experience and the external world. The critical
thinker is consistent, uses logic, connects ideas, judges the relevancy or irrelevancy of ideas,
recognizes and avoids preconceptions and mistakes, analyzes and solves potential problems, forms
sound arguments, and is able to explain and justify his or her own beliefs and conclusions to others.39

Thinkers at this stage recognize that they have basic problems in their thinking and make initial
attempts to better understand how they can take charge of and improve it. Based on this initial
understanding, beginning thinkers begin to modify some of their thinking, but have limited insight
into deeper levels of the trouble inherent in their thinking. Most importantly, they lack a systematic
plan for improving their thinking, hence their efforts are hit and miss.
Relevant Intellectual Traits: Naturally inherent in master thinkers are all the essential intellectual
characteristics, deeply integrated. Accomplished thinkers have a high degree of intellectual humility,
intellectual integrity, intellectual perseverance, intellectual courage, intellectual empathy, intellectual
autonomy, intellectual responsibility and fair mindedness. Egocentric and sociocentric thought is quite
uncommon in the accomplished thinker, especially with respect to matters of importance. There is a

Honey Bees And Its Effects On Bees
Bees are a vital source to most of the daily products that we use today. From the food we eat, to the
trees outside. Without them, there will be no greenery or some of our favorite foods. That is why it is
necessary to protect their well being. Therefore multiple solutions have been recommended to
preserve their existence, in healthy and efficient environments.
Recently, studies are showing a dramatic decrease of the bee population. As a result, there have been
fewer instances of the great pollination process performed by the bees, therefore affecting the food and
produce whose growth process are dependant on the bees. Honey bees originally came from Europe,
but the problem of the decreasing population became known after Pollination Week declared by the
senate and governors on June 22nd. The reasoning behind the lack of bees on agriculture farms, is due
to the harmful pesticide spray. Denied access to neonics, farmers will inevitably revert to spraying
their fields either from the ground or by plane with older and more dangerous insecticides (Rodgers
Media 6). Furthermore, because there are fewer pollinators, the food they help flourish have become a
worry to researchers. The world would be a desolate place without our pollinating friends, devoid of
flowers, flowering plants and many of our favorite foods (Hannon Gerald 9). Implies the importance
of the bees handiwork in the production of the produce that we eat. Although it is costly in order to

The Problem With Vietnam Essays
The Problem With Vietnam
Wartime in the United States has always placed pressure on the government and the citizens of the
country to provide support by whatever means to the situation. During World War II, that support was
propagated by the government in the form of censorship and a strategic public relations plan to
maintain the public opinion in favor of the cause. Glorification of America s involvement in the war
helped America maintain the image of a cause worth fighting for. Technology and de censorship
would later transform America and the world s image of war, which had been formed by such
propaganda as seen during WWII, into the truth about war as seen in the media s coverage of the
Vietnam War. During this period, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the flip side to the censorship, the side that is not often seen, is the fact that this helped to
break down many barriers in the country, including race, gender and even religious. Its effects on the
outcome of the war cannot be measured by traditional means, but indeed it created an atmosphere of
pride and loyalty for one s country. World War II may have been a censored war, but that censorship
may have indeed won that war. According to Philip Knightley s The First Casualty during World War
I, censorship was so tight that even reports of a gift of wine cases to American troops by the French
were not reported for fear of making the American s look unsavory (Alter 38). An after effect of World
War II s propagation can be seen in the tremendous press coverage of the Vietnam War. Feelings of
mistrust and betrayal toward the US government could very well have been why Vietnam had so much
coverage. American citizens wanted the truth, feeling that they had been lied to for so many years. The
truth was what was received thanks to Television (Alter 38). Nicknamed the Living Room War ,
images of death and destruction could be seen first hand. Uncensored images filled the TV screens as
millions of Americans watched their country battle communism in a foreign land. For the first time,
many people could see the truth about war. Their ideas of war being no longer being shaped by the
government,

Army Contractual Standards
Contractual standards under which new recruits joining the Army apply through have been under
extreme scrutiny. As leaders brought up in a high operational tempo, we have spent a lot of time
discussing what we believe to be lax standards. Serving as a detailed recruiter has changed my
perception of what I felt I knew, and opened my eyes to the Army s plan for the future. The challenges
we face may not necessarily be those that we see right in front of us. Rather the challenge is what are
we leaving behind when we depart the service? The Army spends vast amounts of money every year
in the recruitment, and training of new recruits every year. The commanders, senior leaders, and
American people entrust us to train the future of The United States Army. Formations have spoken and
the Army has listened, but have we as leaders misinterpreted the answer? Topics I will cover will be

The Army s new Occupational Physical Assessment Test has been the answer. The test by design is not
to access if the applicant possess the fitness level to step directly into the job, but rather to gauge their
ability to improve with training to meet that jobs physical demands. A second level of the test during
Advanced Individual Training job training ensures collective training has been successful in preparing
the Soldier for the physical demands of their job. Should a Future Soldier fail to perform at the
required level they are subject to contract renegotiations and will need to choose another MOS based
off their OPAT score. All of this is in addition to the standard Physical Fitness Assessment, sometimes

The Setting Of August Wilson s Gem Of The Ocean

The setting of August Wilson s Gem of the Ocean is 1904 Pittsburgh. It has been 40 years since the
abolition of slavery and the Second Industrial Revolution is alive and well. Between 1870 and 1914
the United States saw an important change in the labor and working class, technological advancements
took production from a handmade to an automated factory setting. The development of manufacturing
produced a necessity for numbers of factory laborers. These laborers faced extensive hours,
unfortunate working conditions and job insecurity.

I m just starting out sleeping there. I asked one fellow what board meant. He say they supposed to give
you something to eat. They ain t give us nothing. I say okay. I can t make them give me nothing. What
I m gonna do? I got to eat. I bought a loaf of bread for a dime. A bowl of soup cost ten cents around
the corner. I wasn t desperate. I had sixty five cents to make it to payday. I ate half the bread and say I
would get a bowl of soup tomorrow. Come payday they give me three dollars say the rest go on my
bill. I had to give the man what own the house two dollars. What I m gonna do, Miss Tyler? I told the
people at the mill I was gonna get another job. They said I couldn t do that cause I still owed them
money and 22 they was gonna get the police on me.
The incidents in this excerpt that Citizen describes were not uncommon for that time. During the
Industrial Revolution, company towns, communities built by businesses, developed up across the
country. Although the concept may have appeared ideal a number of companies made more money
from cheating their workers than from what they produced. During the boom in textile, coal, steel and
other industries, workers often earned what s called scrip instead of real money: a kind of credit they
couldn t spend anywhere but the company store, where prices were often higher than elsewhere.

The Industrial Revolution And Latin America
The Industrial Revolution Latin America in The Nineteenth Century
● Only Japan underwent a major industrial transformation during the Nineteenth Century.
● India, Egypt, Ottoman Empire, China and Latin America experimented in modern industry.
● They were nowhere near the kind of major social transformation that had taken place in Britain,
Europe, North America and Japan.
● The profound impact of European and North American industrialization was hard to avoid.
After Independence in Latin America
● The struggle for independence in Latin America had lasted far longer and proved far more
destructive than in North America.
● Decimated populations, diminished herds of livestock, flooded or closed silver mines, shrinking
international trade, investment capital and empty national treasuries were among the conditions under
which Latin American faced.
● Furthermore, the four major administrative units (vice royalties) of Spanish America ultimately
dissolved into eighteen separate countries.
● Peru and Bolivia briefly united and then broke apart in a bitter conflict (1836 1839).
● Mexico lost huge territories to the United States (1846 1848).
● Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay went to war with Paraguay (1864 1870) in a conflict that devastated
Paraguay s small population.
● Conservatives favored centralized authority and sought to maintain the social status quo of the
colonial era in alliance with the Catholic Church.
● In many countries, conflicts between these factions, often

This demographic segment was not only aging, but also increasing in spending power, and thus

Wine consumption in the United States increased every year from 2000 2008, according to the U.S.
Department of Commerce and Adams Wine Handbook, the latter an industry trade publication, as
shown in the analysis presented in Exhibit 1. Domestically produced wine, predominantly from
California, made some inroads into the
United States market. From 2000 2008, the consumption of domestically produced table wine grew 22
percent, while over the same period inroads made by wine imports led to expansion in that category
approximately 74 percent. By comparison, however, imported table wine, which accounted for 10.3
percent of total United States wine consumption in 1991, accounted for 23.5 percent by 2008. Also,
share of imports by volume, which was 14.5 percent in 1991, grew to 25.6 percent in 2008, according
to the U.S. Department of Commerce and Adams Wine Handbook.
Exhibit 2 presents an analysis of wine imports from 2003 2008 by country of origin, showing that
Italy and Australia led in total exports to the United States. Exhibit 3 shows the analysis of sales and

World War I (WWI), which was predominantly called the World War or the Great War from its
occurrence until 1939, and the First World War or World War I thereafter, was a major war centered in
Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. It involved all the world s
great powers, which were assembled in two opposing alliances: the Allies (centered on the Triple
Entente of the United Kingdom, France and Russia) and the Central Powers (originally centered on
the Triple Alliance of Germany, Austria Hungary and Italy). These alliances both reorganized (Italy

Anglo French trenches were only intended to be temporary before their forces broke through German
defenses. Both sides tried to break the stalemate using scientific and technological advances. On 22
April 1915 at the Second Battle of Ypres, the Germans (violating the Hague Convention) used
chlorine gas for the first time on the Western Front. Algerian troops retreated when gassed and a six
kilometer (four mile) hole opened in the Allied lines that the Germans quickly exploited, taking
Kitchener s Wood. Canadian soldiers closed the breach at the Second Battle of Ypres. At the Third
Battle of Ypres, Canadian and ANZAC troops took the village of Passchendaele. At the start of the
war, the German Empire had cruisers scattered across the globe, some of which were subsequently
used to attack Allied merchant shipping. The British Royal Navy systematically hunted them down,
though not without some embarrassment from its inability to protect Allied shipping. For example, the
German detached light cruiser SMS Emden, part of the East Asia squadron stationed at Tsingtao,

What Is The Code Of Hammurabi Dbq
The Killer Hammurabi Imagine hitting your parents and having your hands cut off because you will

(Doc C). Second, In Law 129 If a married lady is caught [in adultery] with another man, they shall

Toys Are Today s Society Essay
Toys Are Us
In today s society, parents throughout the United States differ on their views towards children s toys.
Some children face different options and consequences when wanting a toy from the opposite gender
section. Occasionally, you will see in the headlines of a newspaper saying how progressive a mother is
because she allows her son to wear a princess costume. Mainly, the toys that are aimed towards boys
are associated with sports and aggression. Yet for girls, the toys that are aimed towards them are
associated with homemaking and glamor. These qualities are so recognized and known that I have
decided to do an essay on them to see what is alike and what is different in the areas of the toys. I
decided to follow two families for this analysis. These two families both come from a Mexican
culture. In household X, the family is both Mexican and American. In household Y, the family comes
from a strict Mexican culture. In response to my analysis, based on what I have seen in both of the
households I visited, I feel as though the children should choose what matters to them in relevance to
the fun. Allowing the children to have a variety of toys opens up different skills. Different toys bring
different challenges. Parents should not restrict their children to strong gender toys, as though it could
not help them develop physically, academically, artistically, cognitively, and musically.
In household X, the family of six had a young daughter who is approximately three years

The Epidemic of Affluenza is Sweeping Through America Essay
An epidemic is sweeping all through America. This epidemic has affected just about every individual
in America. Millions could be diagnosed with it yet they do not realize they have it. It is changing the
everyday thoughts and actions of those with it. It damages all individuals who let it consume them. It
is nearly impossible to cure. Medication is useless against it. There is not outright proven immunity to
prevent one from receiving this nasty disease. It can cause symptoms such as stress, overwork, waste,

It seems as if they have everything they might possibly want. Through the years, they have become
obsessed with trying to fulfill themselves and find happiness. They believe buying one more item
would give them eternal happiness yet fails miserably. The pursuit of happiness through wealth is a
common symptom in the affluent which has become an insane obsession.
At the end of the day, the affluent are still not satisfied with their wealth or material items. Source D
provides a great example. Even though the couple has purchased everything they could possibly want,
they still feel something is missing. What they are missing is not a tangible object. It is not something
one could go to a store and buy. They cannot obtain happiness in a nice little box on a store shelf.
There is no price on happiness. Source A believes happiness is desirable in itself and never for the
sake of something else. Nothing can supplement happiness. True happiness is something final and self
sufficient. People with affluenza can never find this happiness through the constant purchasing of
more stuff. Happiness is achieved in many different ways for different individuals but not through
wealth. For example, the mother in Source I begins to understand this when she becomes older one
Christmas. She realizes no matter how many gifts she may receive,

When a defining moment comes along, you define the moment, or the moment defines you. Kevin C.
This quote from Winning Balance by Shawn Jonson has had a great impact on my life along with
Shawn Jonson, an Olympic silver medalist in gymnastics. The book is about a teenage gymnast who
went to the Olympics and some of her struggles along the way. Being a gymnast myself, I can also
relate to some of these struggles and although I haven t been to the Olympics, I have experiences
many of the same problems Shawn has. Winning Balance has inspired me to try hard in everything
that I do and has also taught me with hard work comes great success. Whether its school, sports, or
anything else important, trying hard and giving your best in all that you do is very important. Shawn
Jonson would have never made it to the Olympics if it weren t for her giving 110% almost every time

Shawn injured herself, she conditioned and still worked hard to become strong for when she came

like Shawn in the book and I worked hard to build up my strength for when I came back. Although
giving it all every day is hard, I try to when I can. Shawn s hard work paid off when she went to the

Educational adjustments are very important for academic achievement. Ramanna Sood (1992) found
significant relationship between achievement motivation and adjustment. According to Good (1993)
academic achievement means knowledge attained or skills developed in the school subject, usually
designated by test scores or by marks assigned by teachers or by both. Best (1977) pointed out that
academic grades assigned by teachers or scores on standardized achievement test is operational
definition of academic achievement. According to George and Ravindran (2005) many factors
contribute to academic achievement. The major ones are intelligence, adjustments, motivation,
academic stress, level of aspirations and time perception etc. In present study academic achievement is
being studied with the adjustment, achievement motivation and academic stress.
Methodology
Aim of the study The main aim of the present study is that there is possibility of prediction of
adjustment of high school students on the basis of academic stress, achievement motivation and
academic achievement.
Objectives of the study 1) To measure the academic stress, achievement motivation and adjustment of

There also exists a second problem, this time, within the NSAs themselves. In an article by Gerry

NSAs can have two presidents: one to be recognized by the Philippine Olympic Committee and the

The Ugly American Character Analysis
The Ugly American Writing Assignment
There are two types of Americans that are portrayed in The Ugly American. The two types of
Americans portrayed in The Ugly American are the ethnocentric Americans, who believe that their
ways are superior to all others, and don t really care about stopping the spread of communism; and
then there are the kind hearted Americans, who truly care about defeating communism. Through
multiple characters we learn how these two types of Americans think and how they represent not only
themselves, but their country.
The ethnocentric Americans such as Louis Sears and Joe Bing show the reader how ignorant some of
the Americans in the book are. They only cared about living a privileged life. These ethnocentric

The authors want to show the reader how different cultures see Americans. It only takes one American
for another culture to either judge or appreciate the people and cuture that comes from being an
American. For example, any of the Sarkhanese people who had the chance to meet Joe Bing or Lou
Sears would most likely think that all Americans are a bunch of scum. Sears and Bing give off the
impression that Americans think they are the best of the best, that as an American they are entitled to
everything in world. But if you were Deong (before he turned communist) and got to Know John
Colvin or one of the Sarkhanese people that received help and information from Knox, then you
would think that Americans were very generous people. Unlike Sears and Bing, Colvin and Knox have
shown other cultures that Americans can be great people. It s the first impression that counts, and that
s exactly the authors point of characterizing the characters the way they did. They wanted to show

Ford Model T Essay
The ford Model T was the first car mass produced in the U.S during the early 1900 s. The Model T
had a 4 cylinder 20 horsepower engine that could reach speeds of about 40 miles an hour. They come
in different colors, but they were mostly produced in black. They were relativley simple, and reliable
cars. It changed the factor of automobiles and transportation because people went from horse and
buggy to full out automobiles. Henry ford was the first person in the U.S to use what s called the
assembly line and it worked well to his advantage. The ford model t production line and other
competing motor companies are different as ford had a different way of of building cars using
assembly lines, while other companies did not use this method. The inventor of the Ford Model T,
Henry ford, Produced the first ever model t on October 1st, 1908. On this date, henry did not realize
how well business was going to be for him. From this date, until May 26, 1927 Henry ford produced

Poverty Of A Indebted Poor Countries ( Hipc ) A Project By...
INTRODUCTION
This paper looks at the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) a project by the IMF and World Bank.
DEBT RELIEF KEY TO POVERTY REDUCTION
The World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) with its view that no poor country faces a
debt burden that it cannot manage, came up with an initiative in 1996 called HIPC initiative. Since
then, the International financial community and the multilateral organizations and governments have
worked tirelessly together to reduce external debt to sustain levels for the many Highly Indebted Poor
Countries. The World Bank and its partner IMF believes that poverty reduction will come by reducing
debt levels of the country.
NEGATIVE OUTCOMES OF HIPC INITIATIVES ON ZAMBIA
The World Bank and the IMF, almost always put conditions to members states to access financial
assistance. HIPC countries like Zambia were not an exceptional.
Four conditions were put in place for HIPC to meet, this includes:
1. be eligible to borrow from the World Bank s International Development Agency.
2. Face an unsustainable debt burden, that cannot be sustain through traditional mechanism debt relief.
3. Have established a track record of reforms and sound policies.
4. Develop a Poverty Reduction Strategic Paper
The technicalities behind the above conditions came at a price, which to date, a little of progress has
been seen. Civic leaders under the leadership of President Levy Mwanawasa of the Republic of
Zambia, were on each other s tails.

Similarities Between Bible And Enuma Elish
The New International Version (NIV) Bible from the Hebrew religion and the Enuma Elish poem from
the Babylonian religion, tell two different ways of how the universe was created. The Bible is more
specific and gives a step by step account for the creation of the universe. However, the Enuma Elish is
vague and does not include details on how they believe the universe was created. The only similarity
between the Babylonian and Hebrew account for the creation of man is that both religions state a god
created the universe.
The New International Version (NIV) Bible, specifically states in the book of Genesis that God created
the universe by stating, Let there be... and there was. It is written that God said, Let there be light and
there was light. (NIV Bible, Genesis 1:3) God said, Let there be a vault between the waters to separate
water from water and there was a vault. (NIV Bible, Genesis 1:6) God continued to speak commands
for a total of six days until the universe and everything in it was created. On the other hand, the poem
Enuma Elish states that Marduk, the creator god, kills Tiamat, a primordial goddess of the ocean, and
from her body fashions the world. (The Norton Anthology, pg. 34) Next, Marduk creates the
netherworld which is a mythic place of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bill Monroe Research Papers
William Smith Monroe, also known as Bill Monroe, was born in the mountains of Kentucky by a
small farm on September 13, 1911. J.B. Monroe, the father of Bill, decided to name his son after his
two brothers. Bill Monroe was most famous for creating a new style of American country folk music
style called Blue Grass . The name originated from his popular band, Blue Grass Boys , which started
in 1938. Despite people believing that his music was considered country, Bill Monroe is titled as The
Father of Blue Grass . He was also known for popularizing the Mandolin instrument. Bill Monroe
played the Mandolin because his older brothers, Charlie and Birch, would not allow him to play the
fiddle or guitar. His first instrument was a little Neapolitan style mandolin and he would never touch
another instrument for the rest of his career. Bill Monroe started his music career with his older
brothers and their band was called The Monroe Brothers . However, their chemistry as a band started
to fall. According to Richard D. Smith, By 1938, some fans of the Monroe Brothers noticed they were
beginning to arrive at shows separately and not speaking to each other, ignoring each other to the point
where they almost seemed facing in different directions onstage (Smith, pg. 44). The problem with the

Which of your budget categories must your provide for first before satisfying others? To what extent is
each of your expenses discretionary under your control in terms of spending more or less for that item

a. A financial need is something that you cannot live without. For example a financial need for me is
food. I need food to survive. Another financial need for me would be paying rent. I need a stable place
to live, because being stable will ensure more in my future. I must provide to my living category first.
This includes rent, food, and utilities. Without these I wouldn t be stable enough for a job, which with
no job I will not have a budget. I try to save money, so when it comes to wants, I try my hardest not to

Religious Affiliation As A Choice
Wade and Tavris s Invitation to Psychology defines religious affiliation as a choice made by a person
of which particular belief system they will live according to. Furthermore, whether a person is a
Methodist, Muslim, Catholic, Jew, Hindu, and so on, is not heritable . The religious group people
choose to belong to has a lot to do with influence from several factors, including the affiliation of their
parents, ethnicity, culture, and social class (142). Conversely, the term religiosity is defined as a
person s depth of religious feeling and adherence to a religion s rules (142), and contrary to affiliation,
has a genetic component. Growing up in the Episcopal church, God has always been a part of my life.
As I have grown up, however, I have continuously assessed my religiosity regarding my faith. Using
the book s definition, I believe my religiosity is subtle yet traditional. But when it comes to my own
beliefs, there are several factors that have shaped the way I perceive God, faith, religion, and their role
in my life.
Growing up in the Episcopal church, I have always had a sort of relaxed understanding of God and
His teachings. Beginning in kindergarten and continuing through the eighth grade, I attended a private
Catholic school as the only student in my grade who wasn t affiliated with the Catholic church. Often
my religion teachers would ask me questions like, how is this different in your church? , or have me

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Financial Leverage
Introduction
Investment on securities such as shares, debentures, bonds are profitable as well as exciting. It is
indeed rewarding but involves a great deal of risk. Shapiro (2006) describes the emergence and growth
of the market for derivative instruments can be traced back to the willingness of risk averse economic
agents to guard themselves against uncertainties arising out of fluctuations in asset prices. Kawaller,
the President of Kawaller Company, LLC and Managing Director of the Kawaller Fund in Brooklyn,

So a company should maintain a high level of interest coverage ratio (ICR) in order to meet its debt

Liquidity
Nance et al. also argue that firms can reduce the expected financial distress and agency costs
associated with long term debt by maintaining greater short term liquidity. The variable used as proxy
for a firm s short term liquidity is the quick ratio. The quick ratio, a variant of the current ratio,
measures a firm s ability to repay short term operating liabilities with readily available cash.
Underinvestment
Myers (1977), Smith and Watts (1992) have found that firm value depends on the future opportunities.
If there are lots of investment opportunities available to the firms, it seems that this firm has the
capability to generate more cash flow to the firm and to the shareholders. Consequently, this will be
reflected in the stock price. So, the value of a firm having much more investment opportunities will be
higher compared with the one of a firm with limited set of investment opportunities, which is
supported by the result form Allayannis (2001). As an indicator of investment opportunities for the
company, PPE, the ratio of a firm s capital expenditures for property, plant, and equipment to total
assets and R D is the ratio

A Current Issue in California s Water Future
How Desalination Plants may help to aid California s Water Crisis
1.) Introduction
To whom it may concern;
The general problem is that California is in a drought. The state of California is searching high and
low trying to find a sustainable source of water. The specific problem is that California is not able to
produce a large amount of water, be that potable or water that may be able to be used in the extensive
agricultural and industrial sectors that California is known for world wide.

B.) History of the Issue The issue of building desalination plants has been a hot topic of Californians
in the past couple decades because researchers knew that our available surface and groundwater
supplies are becoming scarce. This problem is important because California is home to a large
population of people as well as extensive agricultural and industrial productions that need vast
amounts of water. With the reduction in available ground and fresh water brings other problems that
need to be addressed. Many farmers are having to impose stricter management policies in regards to
how they use the water the pay so much for. Crops sensitive to the amount of water they receive or do
not receive can be destroyed in a short amount of time if neglected of water. With the amount of fresh
water accumulated by both snow melt of California s mountains as well as ground water retrieved
from wells and pumps being depleted faster than we can recharge those sources, farmers face further
impacts. An article by Robert Glennon, Unquenchable: Americas water crisis and what to do about it

Similarities And Differences Between Cats And Dogs
Almost every household in America has a pet, particularly a cat or a dog and sometimes even both.
These animals have been humans pets for thousands of years. Cats actually used to be seen as deities
because of an ancient Egyptian goddess. Egyptians would treat them with respect and dignity as they
would treat their own children. Not only were cats treated with respect, dogs were too. Dogs were
seen as faithful companions and were treasured in every family as they still are today. The reason that
people choose either a cat or a dog as a pet differ from person to person. However, sometimes people
think that there isn t much of a difference between the two animals. Although cats and dogs seem
closely related, they actually have some significant differences, such as their attitude about others,
training, and maintenance. One of the most important considerations for all pet owners is how an
animal associates with others. Cats are known for being solitary animals and are generally seen as
selfish creatures that only think about themselves. In addition, cats are usually more self sufficient pets
than dogs and typically don t rely on humans for much besides food and a clean litter box. Dogs, on
the other hand, are pack animals that enjoy receiving and giving love. This clarifies why dogs bond so
well with so many different animals and also humans. Usually, dogs see humans as their pack leader
and follow the directions they give them and also protect them. In addition, since dogs

Being in the middle class, our economy is set up for the wealthy. We need to fight for fairer taxes.
Another point I agree with is they believe that hard work should pay off, responsibility should be
rewarded, and each one of us should be able to go as far as our talent and drive take us. I also agree
with their view on homeland security. I do not believe that violence is the only answer to making
peace. Democrats believe we should not have to give up certain freedoms just to keep our country
safe, and I feel the same way. We are far too advanced and have so much intelligence now that we

How Does Lincoln Use Ethos Pathos Logos In The Second...
In the Second Inaugural address President Abe Lincoln, clarifies that our nation needs to pull close
and for what we stand for freedom and peace. In honour of the Many Veterans that died for
freedom.Abe Lincoln used literary devices to persuade the American nation that to end war we have to
free the slaves . He used Ethos Pathos and logos as Solid Ground to deliver his statement. Abe Lincoln
used ethos pathos and logos to support his claim that America needed a rebirth of freedom. Meaning
that America was going through the loss of freedom to individuals and needed to evenly distribute
freedom to all.Ethos is the Sources Credibility.Lincoln originally sided with the north but when he
addressed the north and the south he acknowledged them as one which showed he saw them as one
nation .There was a quote that stated with malice towards none ; with charity for all , it was a good

The Effects Of Nuclear Family On Children
As Bronfenbrenner s Bioecological Model suggests, the nuclear family typically provides the first and
most important environment in the child s early development (Siegler, Eisenberg, DeLoache, Saffran,
Graham, 2014). However, due to its strong influence on the child and to the intensity of early
attachments, any disruptions to the family s structure threatens to trigger a series of risk factors that
most children are not equipped to handle (Kostelnik, Soderman, Whiren, Rupiper, Gregory, 2012).
Amongst these disruptions, parental divorce and family reconstitution present stressful and disturbing
challenges for children. Young children in particular five years and younger are in greater risk of
failing to cope with such circumstances, as their cognitive and social development has not yet
provided them with the necessary mechanisms to understand and handle the complexities of the
circumstances (Elliott Richards, 1991; Kostelnik et al., 2012). Under these events parental support
becomes vital, and an array of tools that parents can use to help their children to successfully navigate
these difficult situations is available. In many countries, picture books addressing divorce, remarriage,
and stepfamilies are often used as effective useful venues to aid children cope with these stressful
situations (Mo, 2007). In light of these statements, and using the impact of family conflict and marital
dysfunction in children s emotional development as a framework (Kostelnik et

Human Rights And Its Effects On Society Essay
Human Rights is one of the most fundamental rights individuals should have in society. As
individuals, it s our natural right to have the right to life. No one should be executed or discriminated
because they do not fit in certain characteristics that those that are superior have outlined as fit for
society. Many countries suffer from the lack of protecting their citizens human rights. For instance,
citizens have been executed and discriminated because of their gender, race, and religion affiliations,
which is unjust. Individuals have lost their lives because of not having their country making sure their
right to life and freedom does not get taking away. For instance, the persecution of the Jews by the
Nazi s, many of them lost their life because of a lack of human right to protect them from being
executed without a logic purpose. As a society we can not construct some criteria as to whom can have
human rights and those that cannot. Society is not supposing to be built on unjust acts against those in
society. As individuals, everyone should be able to live in a more just and humane society. This paper
will focus on the human rights and exactly what is human rights. In addition, explore the genocide that
happens under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, which resulted in millions of Jews lives being taken
away and trying to cause extinction to the European Jewish community. In addition, focus on the
aftermath of educating individuals about human rights after the historical

Similarities Between Luxembourg And The United States
Luxembourg is known to have the best health care system in the world. In Luxembourg, every citizen
has health care insurance and each member is protected by basic medical coverage. Citizens in
Luxembourg have health care taxes taken out of each check which is on average 5.44 percent of gross
income (Health Management, 2017). Dependents are covered under their guardians who pay health
care taxes. Another perk of the Luxembourg health care system is that students are covered for free
until the age of 27. The insurance pays for any basic procedure or treatment that is medically
necessary, if someone chooses to have an elective procedure one must self pay. Options are given to
the citizens to have private health insurance in case one was to become severely ill or next an
extensive procedure (Health Gov, 2012).
The United States has several different insurance options for citizens such as insurance via an
employer, insurance purchased privately or free health care provided by the government. Individuals
qualify for free medical care if they are of low income or over the age of 65. The different insurance
companies can pick and choose what they want to cover and which doctor the patient must use. Also,
the physicians can refuse to take a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Luxembourg being between ages 72 82. One of the main causes of death, in children under the age of

ischemic heart disease in Luxembourg and the United States. In, Luxembourg heart disease was
related to 0.3 thousand deaths in 2012, while in the United States 393.7 thousand people (World
Health Organization, 2018). All of these show similarities and differences of the health of citizens in

The Cost Of A Rent A Room
Task 1.
James collects £150 state pension per week, which means he receives £7,800 of state pension
annually; pension from his employer is £25,000 per year. These pensions are taxable and treated as
non saving incomes (Lymer and Oats, 2014).
James and his wife Jess let 40% of their house to a tenant, who pays £15,000 rent annually and there
are £2,000 allowable expenses. In this case the allowable expense is only 60% out of £2000 and Wear
and Tear is 10% of rental income. As James and Jess share property income the total income is halved
and James receives £6,150 (Lymer and Oats, 2014).
Another way of calculation is a rent a room scheme. If property income from lodger is higher than
£4,250 this scheme may be used for income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But his income is higher than £27,000, therefore maximum allowance is constrained to £4,912.5. This
is less than the normal allowance; so he restricted only to £10,000 (Lymer and Oats, 2014).
According to all the workings, the taxable income is calculated and provided in a table below.
James and Jess bought a house in 1991 and lived there since purchasing time, this means that the
house is there only and main residence, therefore they will get qualified only with 60% relief of PPR,
as have let 40% of their house as a residential accommodation. Moreover, they can claim letting relief
either of the gain accruing during the letting period, £40,000 or total gain which is exempt under the
PPR requirements. What is more as husband and wife they have £22,000 CGT relief (split of £11,000
each). Finally Jess will be charged at 18% of CGT as she only has rental income, James s income is
lower than £31,865 and he will be taxed at 18% as well (Lymer and Oats,2014).
Task 2.
As Fred s business is expanding, he can employ one full time employee with an annual salary of
£25,000. Fred has to pay National insurance contribution under the Class 1 rules, as both employer
and employees pay contributions in such businesses (Lymer and Oats, 2014). According to Class 1,
Fred will pay NI of £2,337.72((£480.77 £155) x 13.8% x 52weeks), contribution rate is 13.8%
because employee s weekly income is higher than £155, according to 2105/16 tax rates (GOV.UK,

The Problem Of Police Harassment Essay
Well, the numbers do lie, according to Michael A. Wood Jr., a former Baltimore narcotics cop with 11
years of experience. He has become a whistleblower for reforming police misconduct and he ll be one
of the first to tell you that stop and frisk statistics are junk. The reality of police harassment is much
worse and he points out the obvious that filling out paperwork is time consuming and most cops don t
bother if a search is unsuccessful. This can be seen with the frisk that was recorded for The Nation.
Wood says, The black community hasn t been lying (about harassment) for the last fifty years. We
need to fix it in a realistic, scientific way to where we have some empathy and treat people like human
beings. Because we don t.
In cases where police have been caught fabricating evidence, it again seemingly most often victimizes
minorities. For instance, the former police chief of San Jose and Kansas City, Joseph McNamara,
estimated that hundreds of thousands of police officers commit perjury with drug arrests. He said,
They don t feel lying under oath is wrong because politicians tell them they are engaged in a holy war
fighting evil...(T)hese mostly white cops are testifying against are poor blacks and Latinos.
Two brothers, Jose and Maximo Colon, were awarded $300,000 after a settlement from a civil suit
with the NYPD. Video evidence proved that NYPD narcotics detectives had falsely arrested them for
selling cocaine. One of the officers involved, Stephen

The Two Anthills
In a land far far away there were two anthills. Only two in the land. The anthills were not aware of
their existence. In one anthill brimming with collected resources and a fair queen lived the Opie ants.
In the other there were corrupted a corrupted queen who made the ants work until their death to satisfy
her. Those were the Totie ants. Some of the Totie ants were good and hardworking but some turned
evil just like the queen. The Totie ants and the Opie ants had the same anthills but different leader. The
Opies had an abundance of food; whereas the Totie ants were starving because the queen only looked
after her own well being and ate all the food. The Totie ants were miserable with their leaders and

who was a Totie got tired and decided to venture outside of his anthill to try and find another place
where he could live a better life. Over mountains, through valleys Roscoe ventured, with supplies in
his pack on his back. Eventually, he came upon the Opie ants and he saw how they had a fair queen
and a better life than the one he had back home. Roscoe begged to be allowed to join them and to be
able to be part of this anthill and they said yes but he had to do things. He had to learn the history of
the Opie ants and be willing to abide by their rules. He did this and became part of their anthill. He
worked and lived their for two years before he went back to the Totie anthill. He was finally reunited
with his family that he had left two years ago. He told them about this new land

Barnett Newman s Influence On American Art
After World War II, Europe was left in a political mess. America, on the other hand, became a big
global power for the first time, and reaped the benefits in the form of economic growth. Parisian artists
found appeal in the post war American environment and moved to the USA. Following WWII was the
Cold War era, which left Americans extremely paranoid about threats of communism. They felt it was
time for something new and different, and chose to exercise their freedom of expression by rebelling
from European styles of painting, and creating their own. Barnett Newman expressed this sentiment
best when he stated, After the monstrosity of the war, what do we do? What is there to paint? We have
to start all over again. Abstract expressionism was developed in New York, NY in the 1940s,
following WWII. Most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He once commented that artists use their work to try to create the world in their own image. Newman
is best known for the zips, which are thin, vertical lines, in his paintings, which he developed in the
1940s. He even created some sculptures which resemble three dimensional zips. The names for his
paintings were usually derived from his Jewish culture and religion. The developed The Station of the
Cross, a series of black and white paintings, from 1958 to 1966. Some believe that it is a memorial for
holocaust victims. Others think that it represents the overall global feeling of gloom and despair of the
time. Later in life, Newman worked with more rich, vibrant colors, and shaped canvases. He also
made small sculptures made of steel. Newman is usually classified as an abstract expressionist
because he worked in New York at the same time as the other Abstract Expressionist painters. His
style was so different from these other painters, however, that some say his work was more like post
painterly abstraction or

The Anglo Saxon poems, The Wanderer, The Seafarer, and The Wife s Lament
The Old English, or Anglo Saxon, era of England lasted from about 450 1066 A.D. The tribes from
Germany that conquered Britain in the fifth century carried with them both the Old English language
and a detailed poetic tradition. The tradition included alliteration, stressed and unstressed syllables,
but more importantly, the poetry was usually mournful, reflecting on suffering and loss.1These
sorrowful poems from the Anglo Saxon time period are mimetic to the Anglo Saxons themselves; they
reflect the often burdened and miserable lives and times of the people who created them. The Anglo
Saxon poems, The Wanderer, The Seafarer, and The Wife s Lament, ... Show more content on

The comitatus stressed the loyalty of a thane to his chieftain and treated exile and outlawry as the most
tragic lots that could befall one. This secular sense of loss is keen in The Wanderer. 6 Not only is the
loss of a lord evident in The Wanderer, but in The Seafarer and The Wife s Lament as well.
The poem The Wanderer speaks of a man who has been exiled from his clan, and is now forced to
roam the land alone. Separation from his fellow kinsmen and lord seems to be the worst fate
imaginable. The man speaks of his great loss, remembering the time when he was happy with his
liege,
When friendships are no more. His fortune is exile,
Not gifts of fine gold; a heart that is frozen,
Earth s wisomeness dead. And he dreams of the hall men,
The dealing of treasure, the days of his youth,
When his lord bade welcome to wassail and feast.
But gone is that gladness, and never again
Shall come the loved counsel of comrade and king.
(II. 27 34)
The speaker of The Seafarer is also an outcast sailing the sea in solitude, and he speaks similarly of his
exile from his lord and kinsmen: Wretched and anxious, in the paths of exile/ Lacking dear friends,
hung round by icicles. (II. 14 15) He seems to believe that if he has lost his fellow warriors and lord,
or his friends,

Stolen Art History
The biggest art robbery in history was the theft where a total of 15 art works were stolen. Totaled up
the works were valued at $500million. The government had several attempts at trying to find the art
works and its values. A reward was set at $5 million dollars despite the art valuing way more than that
lump sum of cash. In 1997 inspector Clouseau received paint chips in which the supposed art
snatchers claimed to be from the stolen art work. In 2003 the chips were examined and had a fairly
rare paint coating called red lake which was used in one of the stolen art works called Vermeer which
when translated to English the concert . So the government feels like they had the perpetrator. Yet to
this day the paintings are yet to be all

  • 4. Critical Thinking Research Paper Without critical thinking, humans would be at the state that existed thousands of years ago, where people believed everything they saw and experienced as magic, not as natural phenomena. Critical thinking gives us the ability to form clear and rational judgments to separate what is true from what is imaginary. It takes into account both our own internal experience and the external world. The critical thinker is consistent, uses logic, connects ideas, judges the relevancy or irrelevancy of ideas, recognizes and avoids preconceptions and mistakes, analyzes and solves potential problems, forms sound arguments, and is able to explain and justify his or her own beliefs and conclusions to others.39 upvotes bullet; Updated 24w ago bullet; Asked ... Thinkers at this stage recognize that they have basic problems in their thinking and make initial attempts to better understand how they can take charge of and improve it. Based on this initial understanding, beginning thinkers begin to modify some of their thinking, but have limited insight into deeper levels of the trouble inherent in their thinking. Most importantly, they lack a systematic plan for improving their thinking, hence their efforts are hit and miss. Accomplished thinkers have a high degree of intellectual humility, intellectual integrity, intellectual perseverance, intellectual courage, intellectual empathy, intellectual autonomy, intellectual responsibility and fair mindedness. • 5. Honey Bees And Its Effects On Bees Bees are a vital source to most of the daily products that we use today. From the food we eat, to the trees outside. Without them, there will be no greenery or some of our favorite foods. That is why it is necessary to protect their well being. Therefore multiple solutions have been recommended to preserve their existence, in healthy and efficient environments. Recently, studies are showing a dramatic decrease of the bee population. As a result, there have been fewer instances of the great pollination process performed by the bees, therefore affecting the food and produce whose growth process are dependant on the bees. Honey bees originally came from Europe, but the problem of the decreasing population became known after Pollination Week declared by the senate and governors on June 22nd. The reasoning behind the lack of bees on agriculture farms, is due to the harmful pesticide spray. Denied access to neonics, farmers will inevitably revert to spraying their fields either from the ground or by plane with older and more dangerous insecticides (Rodgers Media 6). Furthermore, because there are fewer pollinators, the food they help flourish have become a worry to researchers. The world would be a desolate place without our pollinating friends, devoid of flowers, flowering plants and many of our favorite foods (Hannon Gerald 9). Implies the importance of the bees handiwork in the production of the produce that we eat. Although it is costly in order to transport the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Problem With Vietnam Essays The Problem With Vietnam Wartime in the United States has always placed pressure on the government and the citizens of the country to provide support by whatever means to the situation. During World War II, that support was propagated by the government in the form of censorship and a strategic public relations plan to maintain the public opinion in favor of the cause. Glorification of America s involvement in the war helped America maintain the image of a cause worth fighting for. Technology and de censorship would later transform America and the world s image of war, which had been formed by such propaganda as seen during WWII, into the truth about war as seen in the media s coverage of the Vietnam War. During this period, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the flip side to the censorship, the side that is not often seen, is the fact that this helped to break down many barriers in the country, including race, gender and even religious. Its effects on the outcome of the war cannot be measured by traditional means, but indeed it created an atmosphere of pride and loyalty for one s country. World War II may have been a censored war, but that censorship may have indeed won that war. According to Philip Knightley s The First Casualty during World War I, censorship was so tight that even reports of a gift of wine cases to American troops by the French were not reported for fear of making the American s look unsavory (Alter 38). An after effect of World War II s propagation can be seen in the tremendous press coverage of the Vietnam War. Feelings of mistrust and betrayal toward the US government could very well have been why Vietnam had so much coverage. American citizens wanted the truth, feeling that they had been lied to for so many years. The truth was what was received thanks to Television (Alter 38). Nicknamed the Living Room War , images of death and destruction could be seen first hand. Uncensored images filled the TV screens as millions of Americans watched their country battle communism in a foreign land. For the first time, many people could see the truth about war. Their ideas of war being no longer being shaped by the government, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As leaders brought up in a high operational tempo, we have spent a lot of time discussing what we believe to be lax standards. Serving as a detailed recruiter has changed my perception of what I felt I knew, and opened my eyes to the Army s plan for the future. The challenges we face may not necessarily be those that we see right in front of us. Rather the challenge is what are we leaving behind when we depart the service? The Army spends vast amounts of money every year in the recruitment, and training of new recruits every year. The commanders, senior leaders, and American people entrust us to train the future of The United States Army. It has been 40 years since the abolition of slavery and the Second Industrial Revolution is alive and well. Between 1870 and 1914 the United States saw an important change in the labor and working class, technological advancements took production from a handmade to an automated factory setting. The development of manufacturing produced a necessity for numbers of factory laborers. These laborers faced extensive hours, unfortunate working conditions and job insecurity. During the Industrial Revolution, company towns, communities built by businesses, developed up across the country. Although the concept may have appeared ideal a number of companies made more money from cheating their workers than from what they produced. During the boom in textile, coal, steel and other industries, workers often earned what s called scrip instead of real money: a kind of credit they couldn t spend anywhere but the company store, where prices were often higher than elsewhere. • 10. The Industrial Revolution And Latin America The Industrial Revolution Latin America in The Nineteenth Century ● Only Japan underwent a major industrial transformation during the Nineteenth Century. ● India, Egypt, Ottoman Empire, China and Latin America experimented in modern industry. ● They were nowhere near the kind of major social transformation that had taken place in Britain, Europe, North America and Japan. ● The profound impact of European and North American industrialization was hard to avoid. After Independence in Latin America ● The struggle for independence in Latin America had lasted far longer and proved far more destructive than in North America. ● Decimated populations, diminished herds of livestock, flooded or closed silver mines, shrinking international trade, investment capital and empty national treasuries were among the conditions under which Latin American faced. ● Furthermore, the four major administrative units (vice royalties) of Spanish America ultimately dissolved into eighteen separate countries. ● Peru and Bolivia briefly united and then broke apart in a bitter conflict (1836 1839). ● Mexico lost huge territories to the United States (1846 1848). ● Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay went to war with Paraguay (1864 1870) in a conflict that devastated Paraguay s small population. ● Conservatives favored centralized authority and sought to maintain the social status quo of the colonial era in alliance with the Catholic Church. ● In many countries, conflicts between these factions, often ... Wine consumption in the United States increased every year from 2000 2008, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce and Adams Wine Handbook, the latter an industry trade publication, as shown in the analysis presented in Exhibit 1. Domestically produced wine, predominantly from California, made some inroads into the United States market. From 2000 2008, the consumption of domestically produced table wine grew 22 percent, while over the same period inroads made by wine imports led to expansion in that category approximately 74 percent. By comparison, however, imported table wine, which accounted for 10.3 percent of total United States wine consumption in 1991, accounted for 23.5 percent by 2008. Also, share of imports by volume, which was 14.5 percent in 1991, grew to 25.6 percent in 2008, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce and Adams Wine Handbook. Anglo French trenches were only intended to be temporary before their forces broke through German defenses. Both sides tried to break the stalemate using scientific and technological advances. On 22 April 1915 at the Second Battle of Ypres, the Germans (violating the Hague Convention) used chlorine gas for the first time on the Western Front. Algerian troops retreated when gassed and a six kilometer (four mile) hole opened in the Allied lines that the Germans quickly exploited, taking Kitchener s Wood. Canadian soldiers closed the breach at the Second Battle of Ypres. At the Third Battle of Ypres, Canadian and ANZAC troops took the village of Passchendaele. At the start of the war, the German Empire had cruisers scattered across the globe, some of which were subsequently used to attack Allied merchant shipping. The British Royal Navy systematically hunted them down, though not without some embarrassment from its inability to protect Allied shipping. For example, the German detached light cruiser SMS Emden, part of the East Asia squadron stationed at Tsingtao, seized or destroyed 15 merchantmen, as well as sinking a Russian cruiser and a French destroyer. The year he began ruler was 1707 B.C.E. and ended in 1750 B.C.E. He ruled babylon and created the first ever written laws. He made the laws and he made 282 of them! The laws are called Hammurabi s code. Mostly if you disobeyed the code you will die or get punished for your actions even if you make a mistake. He was born in the year 1811 B.C.E. • 14. Toys Are Today s Society Essay Toys Are Us In today s society, parents throughout the United States differ on their views towards children s toys. Some children face different options and consequences when wanting a toy from the opposite gender section. Occasionally, you will see in the headlines of a newspaper saying how progressive a mother is because she allows her son to wear a princess costume. Mainly, the toys that are aimed towards boys are associated with sports and aggression. Yet for girls, the toys that are aimed towards them are associated with homemaking and glamor. These qualities are so recognized and known that I have decided to do an essay on them to see what is alike and what is different in the areas of the toys. Introduction To whom it may concern; The general problem is that California is in a drought. The state of California is searching high and low trying to find a sustainable source of water. The specific problem is that California is not able to produce a large amount of water, be that potable or water that may be able to be used in the extensive agricultural and industrial sectors that California is known for world wide. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... B.) History of the Issue The issue of building desalination plants has been a hot topic of Californians in the past couple decades because researchers knew that our available surface and groundwater supplies are becoming scarce. This problem is important because California is home to a large population of people as well as extensive agricultural and industrial productions that need vast amounts of water. With the reduction in available ground and fresh water brings other problems that need to be addressed. Many farmers are having to impose stricter management policies in regards to how they use the water the pay so much for. Crops sensitive to the amount of water they receive or do not receive can be destroyed in a short amount of time if neglected of water. With the amount of fresh water accumulated by both snow melt of California s mountains as well as ground water retrieved from wells and pumps being depleted faster than we can recharge those sources, farmers face further impacts. An article by Robert Glennon, Unquenchable: Americas water crisis and what to do about it says In the summer of 2009, California is facing mandatory water rationing. Many farmers may be entirely cut off, costing the economy more than $1 billion and putting more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Similarities And Differences Between Cats And Dogs Almost every household in America has a pet, particularly a cat or a dog and sometimes even both. These animals have been humans pets for thousands of years. Cats actually used to be seen as deities because of an ancient Egyptian goddess. Egyptians would treat them with respect and dignity as they would treat their own children. Not only were cats treated with respect, dogs were too. Dogs were seen as faithful companions and were treasured in every family as they still are today. The reason that people choose either a cat or a dog as a pet differ from person to person. However, sometimes people think that there isn t much of a difference between the two animals. Although cats and dogs seem closely related, they actually have some significant differences, such as their attitude about others, training, and maintenance. One of the most important considerations for all pet owners is how an animal associates with others. Cats are known for being solitary animals and are generally seen as selfish creatures that only think about themselves. In addition, cats are usually more self sufficient pets than dogs and typically don t rely on humans for much besides food and a clean litter box. Dogs, on the other hand, are pack animals that enjoy receiving and giving love. This clarifies why dogs bond so well with so many different animals and also humans. Usually, dogs see humans as their pack leader and follow the directions they give them and also protect them. In addition, since dogs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Effects Of Nuclear Family On Children As Bronfenbrenner s Bioecological Model suggests, the nuclear family typically provides the first and most important environment in the child s early development (Siegler, Eisenberg, DeLoache, Saffran, Graham, 2014). However, due to its strong influence on the child and to the intensity of early attachments, any disruptions to the family s structure threatens to trigger a series of risk factors that most children are not equipped to handle (Kostelnik, Soderman, Whiren, Rupiper, Gregory, 2012). Amongst these disruptions, parental divorce and family reconstitution present stressful and disturbing challenges for children. Young children in particular five years and younger are in greater risk of failing to cope with such circumstances, as their cognitive and social development has not yet provided them with the necessary mechanisms to understand and handle the complexities of the circumstances (Elliott Richards, 1991; Kostelnik et al., 2012). America, on the other hand, became a big global power for the first time, and reaped the benefits in the form of economic growth. Parisian artists found appeal in the post war American environment and moved to the USA. Following WWII was the Cold War era, which left Americans extremely paranoid about threats of communism. They felt it was time for something new and different, and chose to exercise their freedom of expression by rebelling from European styles of painting, and creating their own. The poem The Wanderer speaks of a man who has been exiled from his clan, and is now forced to roam the land alone. Separation from his fellow kinsmen and lord seems to be the worst fate imaginable.
